Jon slammed for putting the kids on an ATV

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says it's really dangerous.

We also remember Kate going without a helmet on a moped and ATV.....

Well, I have to say, Jon should not be letting the kids ride on an ATV without a helmet--and the kids should not go for tractor rides, either. However, that kind of thing is VERY common in this part of PA. I see it all the time--one of my neighbors actually used to ride their ATV (off-road vehicle) up and down the STREET with their little children on it---with NO helmets. PA had the helmet law repealed a few years back--for ADULTS only, though.
However, Kate and TLC allowed the children to ride horses (not ponies, but full-size horses) without helmets for an episode, too. Just as dangerous, IMO. When my daughter took riding lessons, she was not permitted on the horse without a helmet.

Horses are wonderful and can really enrich your life, but incredibly dangerous. My sister's best friend was killed by a horse when she was bending down to clean his shoe and he kicked her in the throat.

I remember being annoyed when Kate and the children were screaming around the horses. And no helmets. A little healthy dose of respect for a beast capable of killing, paralyzing, etc., would be in order.
