Kate judges ET potluck

Kate had the time of her life in Los Angeles this week on the Skating with the Stars beat for ET. On Monday she also helped judge ET's sixth annual employee Thanksgiving potluck. The winner received a $500 prize.

What a piece of trash. Her ego knows no bounds. I knew she would be back all over TV before the show this week, it's just she was back on ET than all the morning talk shows. She got her message out exactly the way she wanted it out, she got to play at being one of the big guys and she will go before the judge next week and win whatever it is she is trying to win. She needs to keep those little money makers under her control or else no one will want her. She knows she is nothing without them and no one will care a thing about her if Jon gets the kids. He doesn't stand a chance, her PR machine, funded by TLC, is too huge.

There she is...posing, as usual. And, Barbara, sadly, I am afraid you are correct.

The first screen grab above is SO FRIGHTENING. There is no chance I am watching that video.

I have come to think it would be hilarious for her to move to SoCal. Her $1.2M house in PA would be a condo in the LA area. She doesnt have the looks or talent to survive in that pond. It might actually be the only solution to her blatant narcissism; let the industry chew her up and spit her out.

I'm still waiting for a Kate supporter to explain why it was okay for Kate to sit on this horrible information about the kids being expelled for an entire two weeks, then finally let slip out two weeks later oh they're just being tutored. How does it help the children to let all of America think they are bullies and terrors and can't even function in kindergarten if it's not true?

There is no other reasonable explanation other than this turkey only denied the rumor when ET paid her to appear. Disgusting.

Kate won't sell her home. She'll keep it and the kids in PA and will fly out to LA or wherever for her hosting gigs. Then, no one can accuse her of taking the kids from Jon or uprooting them so she can be a star.

And if Kate wants to be on ET or do any other gig that doesn't involve the kids, fine. Let her have Twist of Kate or the ET hosting gigs. I don't and won't watch personally because I have no interest.

What I would like to see is for the court to award Jon more time with the kids and to order that they be placed in her care when she's traveling. However, I think Jon will need to prove to the court that he has the financial and physical resources to do that and no job and a 1 bedroom apt isn't going to cut it. That's not a criticism of Jon - he's living within his means which beats Kate if the stories are true. But the court will probably want to see at least a three - four bedroom apartment or home and will definitely want to see that Jon is working before making any substantial changes to the custody arrangement.

And Jon signed a quit claim to the kids' "house" as part of the divorce and Kate paid him out his half of the property value. So no, Kate doesn't need to let Jon stay there. The 50/50 time share during custody was only temporary until the divorce was finalized.

Ridiculous. Do you walk around your place of employment and criticize any mother you see who happens to enjoy her job? Hate to break it to you, but there are millions of mothers out there who enjoy working. Sometimes their jobs involve travel and you might catch them smiling or laughing while thousands of miles away from their precious babies. Who knew that one had to be miserable when away from home to qualify as a good mother?

Okay, her kids are going through a bad time, with two 6 year old expelled from KINDERGARTEN. No red flags for Kate.

What does Kate do as a mother? She goes to LA to have "the time of her life" while going on each and every event, show, etc...possible. She does have the right to refuse offers. Very committed mother. But rest assured, the dog, cameras, and her tutoring by phone will fix everything. (She mentioned she was tutoring them). And there are no "nannies" in the house full-time night after night after night, so I guess the kids are alone raising themselves. Along with the dog, cameras, and her her phone tutoring. After all, she does not want them to "fall apart."

I'm not a conspiracy therorist. As soon as I see a post from someone beginning with "don't you see you're being played?" I skip over it. But folks, this one seems waaaaayyyy too convenient. Obviously, this Skating with The Stars thing has been in the works for awhile and I'm sure Kate's trip to LA was scheduled at least a few months ago as well. Her ratings are in the toilet and she's a joke. Does anyone besides me think the tups being expelled was carefully orchestrated and controlled until it was closer to the time Kate was going to LA? First, it's leaked the two were suspended by a "source." The two week suspension didn't make sense at all, causing people to discuss what could have happened. Then another "source" (one credible enough for numerous news outlets and magazines to pick the story up) leaks that they were expelled. No denials, just the usual "private matter" (ha) BS. Then pictures which look to be taken on the property come out of Colin and Alexis playing during the day. Then Mommie Dearest flies on her broom to LA for her ET gig and gives a 'heartfelt' interview to Mary Hart (salaciously promoted with teasers saying EXPELLED) but only cops to tutoring and anger.

I could be off. I just can't believe the video of the children screaming when being dropped off was not reported on at all, but this news was picked up everywhere. I am starting to suspect TLC is feasting off the hatred of Kate and will help fuel the controversy- at the expense of those poor children- if it can help her sagging ratings.

Just When I thought, I have no problem with someone loving their job. The point is, Kate has sold us from day one on being the "mom of 8" as her job and TLC has sold her to us as mom of the year. Kate sold her entire brand on being a MOTHER. She wrote two entire books about what a great mother she is. It is a total sham for her to pretend that she is really about being a mother, when the truth is she is really about being a celebrity. Actually she even admitted it in her book I Just Want You To Know (using her kids again to make money), she truly loves the media and attention. She is never this happy with her kids yet keeps trying to shove kids and motherhood down everyone's throats. It is not all about her kids and that is what we are pointing out--the hypocricy. If you want to be a celebrity fine! Just stop pretending it's really about the kids. Stop filming them and move to LA. Kate constantly loses her temper around the kids, hitting them, grabbing their chins, saying very mean things to them about their dad and so on, she is a mean person around them and it's on film. In contrast, she is nothing but giddy and happy in Hollywood. She doesn't want to be with her kids, she wants to be with Mary Hart. I think she resents her kids because when she's with them she's not living it up in LA. They made her famous but now that she has sucked what she needs out of them she cannot easily cut them loose like she has every...single...other person she is done with.

My coworkers don't have TV shows trying to pretend their only job is to be a mother while at the same time working 80 hours a week doing something else. Nor do they work 3,000 miles away from their home. Nor do they publish books about their children's private moments. Or go on TV and talk about their children's reactions to the divorce. And so on.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 14

I am not opposed to homeschool in general but I think with these kids they really could benefit from a lot more social interaction with peers. It's not only because they have been busy filming their whole lives but because it is well documented that multiples as a whole, almost all multiples, often have problems with social skills because they are much more comfortable in their "pack," develop their own way to interact with each other that may or may not be socially acceptable (for instance the hitting among the Gosselins kids, other multiples speak their own unique languages), have built in friends and don't always have the desire other kids do to go out and make friends because that part of htem is being fulfilled from the pack. They can get isolated among themselves and that's why most parents go out of their way to separate them in school and encourage outside friendships.

*****

It's a good thing you're not a kindergarten teacher if you think 90% of kindergarten is teaching social interaction. A few examples of what kindergartners in here in CA are expected to learn:

Sample Reading Standards:

Recognize common types of texts (e.g.,
storybooks, poems, fantasy, realistic text).

With prompting and support, name the author and
illustrator of a story and define the role of each in
telling the story.

Know and apply grade-level phonics and word
analysis skills in decoding words both in isolation
and in text.

Sample Math Standards:

Solve addition and subtraction word problems, and add and subtract within 10, e.g., by using objects or
drawings to represent the problem.

For any number from 1 to 9, find the number that makes 10 when added to the given number, e.g., by
using objects or drawings, and record the answer with a drawing or equation.

Fluently add and subtract within 5.

Analyze and compare two- and three-dimensional shapes, in different sizes and orientations, using
informal language to describe their similarities, differences, parts (e.g., number of sides and
vertices/“corners”) and other attributes (e.g., having sides of equal length).

There also are standards for science, history, visual/performing arts and health education for kindergartners. 90% social interaction? Hardly.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 16

There More, Obviously there are many important academic skills to learn in kindergarten. My grandmother was a kindergarten teacher, I am aware of what her duties were.

My point is not that kids are "literally" spending 90% of their time on interaction, but that the social interaction is very important in this grade as opposed to say later grades. It is a stepping stone.

The bigger point is these children have very poor social skills and we are concerned that sending a posh tutor in there isn't going to help. They need peers and role models to learn positive social behavior. All of your lists of things to learn in kindergarten are done in the bigger CONTEXT of learning socialization--talking in turn when answering a question, raising your hand to be heard, sharing, working in groups, working with a partner, working with an adult. Everything they do is also a socialization lesson.

Obviously whatever the kindergarten teachers were doing with Alexis and Collin weren't working. Maybe they are too focused on your list of things to teach and not enough on the big picture--i.e. just helping these kids interact on an appropriate level that wasn't going to get them expelled/kicked out/asked to leave/agreed to leave.

Thanks for posting the video, but I think that I will pass on this one.

Kate looks positively demented.

Michelle said... 18

Based on the comments on all the articles about her interview with ET regarding the explusion, she doesn't seem to be winning anyone over. The overwhelming majority are finally seeing Kate for what she really is.

Six year olds shouldn't be under "pressure" (whatever that means) and having issues with "divorce anger". Kate just dug her hole a little deeper with those words IMO. If they are under pressure and suffering from divorce anger, you as a parent are failing miserably. If parents handle divorce like adults and go above and beyond their own discomfort level to make sure the adult problems don't affect the kids, divorce anger should be minimal.

And I can't believe she doesn't hear how ridiculous it sounds to say the kids would fall apart if their show ended. They've been expelled from kindergarten because they couldn't handle the pressure! That isn't falling apart?! They're falling apart before her very eyes and she's too self-focused to get it.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! My kids had a blast with their cousins. Wish the same could be said of the Gosselin kids. :(

Lauren said... 19

As I've said for awhile now, Kate will be her own undoing. The evidence is in the first screen grab of Kate looking like the female version of Jack Nicholson's character from The Shining.

Lorrie said... 20

There's no denying that the social aspect of Kindergarten is HUGE. For many of the kids, this is the first time they've been away from their parents for several hours at a time. This is the first time they've had to mind an authority figure other than mom and dad. This is the first time they've been around a big group of kids their own age. This is the first time they've learned that, shock of all shocks, the world doesn't revolve around them -- they have to LEARN and BE TAUGHT to take turns, to keep their hands to themselves, to not talk when someone else is, and to generally be good citizens of the classroom.

Some kids are taught these important social skills at home, before getting to Kindergarten. Many others, unfortunately, are not; lots of parents are too busy, too self-involved, or might simply not know that these skills (just as important, if not more, as academic skills) need to be taught, or HOW to teach them.

Some of these kids who have not had the benefit of learning these things first-hand from a responsible, caring parent, have trouble with the aformentioned Kindergarten requirements once they arrive in the classroom.

Anonymous said... 21

By the time most children go to kindergarten they have had inter-action with others their own age. From what I've read about the Gosselin children the tups have been pretty much a unit - no visits with friends, cousins or library mates. Another thing, they are 6+ while the other pupils are probably 5. It is no wonder the children have "issues" and not
necessarily divorce related.

It's disturbing to hear Kate say the children would fall apart if they stop filming. She is one messed up woman.

Look at me! said... 22

I just mentioned something about this in the previous post. It wasn't just about Khate waiting to be paid. As is their usual tactic, TLC and Khate kept quiet on this expulsion story until they could use it for their advantage. They gleefully sat back and watched all the interest rev up online and spread, and waited for Khate to talk about it until they could book her on ET all as a lead up this week for her new episode coming up. Their m.o. is the old "never let a good crisis go to waste". They just had to wait for the right time to use the story for full advantage. It's predictable, pathetic and sickening!

9 pm - a new episode of Palin
10 pm - new episode of Sister Wives
11 pm - To Be Announced.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 25

In any other context I could care less how a PR team wants to spin a rumor, use it to their full advantage, time it perfectly, and other tactics. But this was a very personal, hurtful rumor about the children. About two of those precious kids. And since those kids are only 6 they have absolutely no control of it, it was up to the adults to handle it. Collin and Alexis cannot call a press conference.

How anyone cannot see this as the sickest thing they've ever done to these kids is beyond me.

I remember when someone wrote a book about Princess Diana, I don't recall which one it was, and the princes had just recently become adults. They called their own press conference to address what they strongly believed were lies about their mother and to defend her honor. You could see the empowerment in Prince William's body language, he was finally old enough to take matters into his own hands, to do what he wanted even if the palace maybe had told him don't do that. A child is helpless, a child cannot stand up for themselves. That's why adults are supposed to do it. Only the adults in these children's lives are spitting in their faces.

They are sandwiching her in between their other hit shows to try and make her relevant again. She is all over TV again in readiness for her Sunday night show. She will only stay on TV as long as people are watching -- both fans and non fans. But it will definitely be Kate that causes the final crash and burn. And things are definitely going against her in the court of public opinion.

Never!

So, I have to agree with Admin on this one.

If you can provide photos and/or video of Kate just as happy in PA as she is in LA, I will eat crow.

I've never seen it. Not once. All I've seen is her misery, frowing, grumpy and stressed when she is with her kids. If she is indeed ever happy around them, then somebody needs to get on TLC and Chris's ass and demand they start showing this side of her.

Interesting. I have Dish satellite, btw.

I just checked TLC's site (hate to go there) and in addition to Palin's repeat and new episodes at 8 and 9, they have Khate at 10 pm instead of Sister Wives. At 11, instead of TBA, they list Palin's new episode again (which first airs at 9 pm).

I checked Sister Wives and couldn't find any listings for it on TLC's site. That's odd since my satellite guide says that it's supposed to air a new episode at 10 pm Sunday. Doesn't that show get big ratings? I haven't seen it, but I think I read that. So, why would they yank a new episode of Sister Wives off the air and replace it with Khate, whose ratings have been decreasing steadily? Unless it has something to do with the legal troubles involving those people. I haven't been following it, but I did read somewhere that they were being investigated.

Was there another interview where she vehemently denied the expulsion? Because if that was her only response-I still believe the kids were expelled.

She lies so much anyway,I don't think I'd believe her if she outright denied it. Besides, Kate deciding to tutor her kids doesn't even make sense in her world of crazy.

So according to Hollywood life (thanks Smiley), Kate is FINE with Ellen in the kids' lives.

Guess that settles that for the fans who claim Ellen's some kind of evil horrible influence. Their queen Kate is fine with her.

They haven't met (and Ellen once confirmed this awhile ago) but they don't have to meet. I don't think you should feel obligated to meet your ex's significant others, nor should the girlfriend be put in the awkward position of meeting the ex. That just shows Kate trusts Jon's judgment and doesn't require that she meet and approve people he is exposing the children to.

Anonymous said... 37

1. Kate wrote a book called "I Just Want You to Know: Letters to my kids on faith, love, and family", yet told her kids Jesus doesn't love bad people and they wouldn't go to Heaven.

2. Kate claims to be frugal and that's why she repacks old sandwiches; yet she spends thousands of dollars flying first class, tanning, haircuts, nails, 5-star hotels.

3. She says she loves her kids and they are the reason she does everything, yet she yelled at Alexis for embarrassing her when Alexis first got suspended and took a picture of herself and the kids with Mady crying in it, for all the world to see.

How can any sheeple defend her now?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 38

There's More, since PA doesn't even require children to attend school until age 8, they are really the ones who don't care as much about academics. Or socialization for that matter.

Personally I think schools are far too concerned about academic checklists and testing and meeting requirements. In kindergarten? Let them be kids. All these regulations don't seem to be helping, our educational system is far worse than it was in the past.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 39

“Where I lived, the career mom was not normal, but in New York it was. It was good to fit in. I’ve learned to talk to my kids on the phone and love them from afar, reminding myself that I had to do my job. I truly enjoy the campaigns, books, shows, media.”

Here is the post I did about the other outrageous things she said, including calling Mady a liar: http://www.realitytvkids.com/2010/04/exclusive-sneak-peak-at-kates-book-i.html

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 40

Lauren, trust me, I will NOT be watching her stupid show! I simply checked my program guide after I mentioned in an earlier comment today that all this ET publicity this week was for her new episode. I had read here that it was scheduled for this weekend, so I just checked my onscreen tv guide to see what the info for the episode said (I had read here that it was about Halloween).

I'll read here what Admin says about the episode (with a thank you to her for suffering through it). I was never ever a fan of J&K+8. I really wasn't interested in them or their show and never paid attention to it. I only tuned in some time in the spring of 2009 when the divorce rumors and tabloid craziness exploded, and I could not avoid seeing it or hearing about it. I tuned in out of curiosity and couldn't believe what I saw and heard. I was amazed that a show featuring such a cold witch of a mother had even lasted that long. I saw several episodes that summer, and then I googled and found this site. Out of curiosity, I then watched about three old episodes some time last year when I saw they were being repeated. Again, I was amazed at how horrible this "mother" was to her children, her husband and just about everyone she came in contact with. I cannot even believe how much I despise someone that I have never met (definitely a first for me in life). Believe me, I wouldn't watch her dumbass show if you paid me. I cannot wait for the day this c-word fades into oblivion. I feel terrible for her children and whether they remain on tv or not, I honestly feel she has ruined their lives.

Has the media said anything about whether or not the children were staying with Jon while Kate was in LA? For me, that makes a huge difference when debating the "traveling working mom" thing. I have no issues with a mom who travels for her job, although I did it when my older children were young and hated it. But if the children are home with the other parent, I don't think it's necessarily going to be damaging to the children in SMALL quantities. The problem with Kate is that she doesn't just travel during the times Jon has custody, and she doesn't allow him to stay in the home with the children when she has to travel during her normal custody times. She leaves them with a nanny, just as she leaves them with a nanny on the weekends to go and get her hair done. I've said this before - but normal divorced parents don't do that. They work their times away from the children around the times the children have to be away from them (school, time with the other parent) and don't create even MORE time away from them.

I'm also wondering why anyone thinks that a holiday week is a good time to even ASK a mother to fly across the country and spend time away from her children. What the heck. So she spent Thanksgiving itself with them - big deal. She flew back, what, late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning on the redeye, had someone else prepare Thanksgiving dinner because she was too tired, and spent the day yesterday barking at them because she was so exhausted from her party week in LA?

The DWTS winners managed to make it across the country in time for the morning talk shows on Wed. Why would think that Kate couldn't catch a red eye on Tuesday night and be home Wed. morning? People do it all the time.

None of those people have TV shows about what great parents they are. I can't imagine preparing everything I did for Thanksgiving this year after a huge trip and on just a day's time and being able to be there present, and rested and in a good mood for all the kids and family.

I was thinking one of the few good things about a divorce is that if you schedule it right, your kids might never have to be with babysitters again. Course Kate can't let that happen that would mean too much time with Jon.

She needs to keep her ass at home and raise them kids. She makes enough money through TLC to be able to be home with them kids. She just wants to be a Sta to give one hoot about what is really going on at home to care. I mean the woman is nuts, she got the kids back their dog so they would be able to discuss their problems with him. WTF!!

By the time most children go to kindergarten they have had inter-action with others their own age.

**************************

These kids have had interaction with others their own age. They were in a church-run pre-school, and in pre-K last year. They have not been isolated from other children.

The Kindergarten curriculum at the school is on the same level as first grade (or higher) in public schools. They do not sit around in a circle playing Duck, Duck, Goose, or fingerpaint the entire day. In fact, many children in the school's Kindergarten class, historically, have been reading on third and fourth grade levels, and higher.

This was the reason these kids were kept back one year. They were not on track for Kindergarten last year, and it would seem that they still are not ready. If they can't "keep up" academically, they might very well be frustrated. Many times this results in their acting out.

Perhaps their mother should have kept them home this summer and hired a tutor to get them ready for this Kindergarten program instead of trying to "culture" them by taking them on trips that they didn't need or want. She might have been under the impression that Kindergarten in this school is the same as in public school. It is not, and she's had a rude awakening. Many parents think their child is super-smart, but when placed in a class with high-functioning students they see that their child is not the little Einstein they believed him/her to be. There may be public schools or other private schools in which they may do very well.

Look at this pic of the judging. I count four people there and no Kate.

I wonder if giving Kate a "judge" apron is one of those things you do when you give a little kid a deputy badge and tell them they are sheriff for a day and the kid actually believes it. But really it's just to humor them.

------------------------

Ha! Well, I did click on that link in this post for ET's site and underneath their video, they make no mention whatsoever of Khate being a judge:

The ET family got into the holiday spirit this past Monday when we had our Sixth Annual Thanksgiving Potluck!

From macaroni and cheese to cheesecake to grits to Brussel sprouts, more than 80 staff members submitted their favorite side dish, appetizer and desserts to not only share with their colleagues, but for a cash prize! Our Mary Hart and Mark Steines were given the envious job of judging the goodies as did "The Insider"'s Lara Spencer and Chris Jacobs.

But it wasn't just a glutinous affair. The staff also donated hundreds of items -- from peanut butter to diapers -- to the North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry, which feeds more than 400 families a week.

Check out the video for more from the foodtastic event!

Kate's as fake as her nails, hair, teeth, boobs, stomach, and tan. She's a miserable human being. We've all seen it. If she smiled and was as pleasant as much around her husband and family as she is on ET her kids wouldn't be in the position they're in now. If the kids could be with their father while she's off trying to become a real celebrity I wouldn't care what she does or where she does but the kids are with nanny's. I don't care how good a nanny is they're not the same as a parent. No one treats your kids like you do. Kate nauseates me but she is not going to stop trying to land her own gig. She's a pushy woman who is oblivious to what people think of her. Any article about her now has 99% negative comments. She just doesn't care as long as she's making money and has a camera in her face.

Someone here mentioned that maybe she should have hired a tutor for these kids this past summer to prepare them better for what was to come. Instead she had them in New York, LA, Alaska, Florida and NC. That's just what we know of. She doesn't seem to take their school work responsibly, maybe with this expulsion it will open her eyes and wake her the hell up. Oh noooo why would it, she just told Mary Hart that it would kill her kids if they couldn't be on television anymore and that they have lots of FUN stuff planned. The woman is certifiably nuts. Don't forget she also had them working several days before school started to do her mundane school shopping.

I have noticed that Kate fills in while the real hosts of the shows are on vacation, and while viewership typically fades; for example Thanksgiving weekend and August when all the hosts try to take off before the new season. She's like the casserole I throw together the day before payday. As in, nothing to get excited about. Filler. Like in her phony face.

K8+8 isn't listed on Comcast until 10pm Sunday night. Sarah Palin pretty much owns the night. For Take, it's long past time for bowing out gracefully. Time to pull out the long hook they use on stages, but usually for comedic effect. Get a clue, Kate. You are a tragedy, not family fare. You blew up your family.

In defense of Admin. and certain posters questioning her take on Kidergarten, I remember when I first started school (back in 1969!) and what I remember is that we were taught to write somewhat, but the majority was learning to interact with other children. Writing and math were taught in first grade. So, Admin is right about Kindergarten and it being more of a social prep for further progression in the education process.

Six year old are SIX YEARS OLD! Some read serious chapter books and some are just learning to read. Elitists make us all look bad. Take a pill. Even in Country Day Schools, six year olds sing songs and act silly. Get over yourselves, people.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 71

No I'm not blaming the teachers I think the children have been working for five long years and now we're seeing the results of that, and even a teacher couldn't fix it in such a short time.

They need to get back to basics, forget math, the kids need to learn how to sit in a classroom and behave appropriately before any learning takes place.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 72

Why can't Mary Hart follow up that question about the show with "Do you think the show had anything to do with the kids' problems in school?"

Not that Kate would tell the truth but be a journalist for pity sake.

Lauren said... 73

IIRC, Kate pulled the kids from Pre-K during the month of May to film at Discovery Cove.

Kate is putting filming the show as a priority OVER their education. How does she expect her children to cope and function in this world. Two of the tups have been expelled and this woman sells her BS story to ET. When will she wake up? It's such a sad situation.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 74

I agree, it does get to be a little much. My church runs an elite preschool that has a two year waiting list and has had many celebrity kids and wealthy kids. And guess what, they have a bunny rabbit named Boo and they hang their paintings on the wall and they have a magic carpet where they read picture books. This is not like getting kicked out of Harvard because you couldn't hack it, kindergarten is kindergarten and if a child can't pass kindergarten there are some serious, serious problems that should be examined backwards and forwards NOW not later. Take it as a warning. Instead Kate takes off to LA to gab about it when she should be home spending every spare moment trying to fix this whole mess.

Ever see Baby Boom with Diane Keaton? I keep thinking of that scene where she takes her baby to a Mommy and Me type class and is holding up flashcards with people like Ronald Reagan and other world leaders. And the kids just want to chew on the cards.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 75

Yes we did confirm the kids were pulled out of school for the Florida trip. Pulling the kids out of school for things like that just teaches them that school is not important and is not to be taken seriously. And no wonder the kids aren't taking it seriously, they are getting the message from Kate that the show is the priority, not school. Heck maybe they thought this would make Mommy happy to get kicked out, more time to film them.

I love how Kate won't take one second of responsibility for this whole mess. She won't even entertain the thought that some of her actions may have sent the wrong message to the kids and contributed to this.

The dogs were originally sent away because Jon was gone and Kate did'nt give a rat's ass about caring for the pups. It's something Kate should have been ashamed of but leave it to her to make it into an episode.

"Even in Country Day Schools, six year olds sing songs and act silly."

++++++++++++++++++++++++

Nobody ever said that they didn't do this. Of course they do, but this isn't day care and there's not a steady diet of it. I wonder if these kids were developmentally ready for Kindergarten. They emulate Kate. We've seen it in the shows, and on the sofa "interviews." They mimic her behavior, her tone of voice, her facial movements, and hand gestures. They act silly...more so than most six-year-olds I've seen.

Not all kids are reading in Kindergarten, but many of them are. They can successfully "pass" Kindergarten even if they aren't reading or spelling or doing math beyond their grade level. If a parent doesn't think his child is academically ready for the curriculum at the school, there are many other options, and many other private and public schools that are excellent. There are children who do much better in the public school system. Not everyone learns the same way. The school is not a match for all children.

"Oh, but she did! Don't you remember the driveway classroom where Kate hauled out the kiddie picnic tables and gave them papers to work on?"
-------------------------------

I remember that! Was there an instructor there, or was Kate doing the "tutoring?" I wonder how long that lasted? One day? Two days? They weren't home long enough this summer to map out any kind of lesson plans and stick with them.

The point I was trying to make was perhaps these kids were not ready for Kindergarten and may feel frustrated because they can't keep up. When a child is frustrated, he may find that acting out is one way to protect his self-esteem. That very easily could have been part of the problem. How would a child feel if he didn't know his letters or simple math, and felt like an underdog? Couple this with anger issues from lack of parenting, and you have a recipe for disaster.

Am I the only one who is sick to death of snide and snotty remarks, such as "get a life," "take a pill," "ridiculous," "good grief" or "get over yourselves" when someone is simply trying to make a point?

Yes. I read the college placements that particular school lists on their web site and many are private colleges in the North East. Not impressed as they seemed to have less elite placements than our public school located about an hour away from Southeastern PA.

"And no wonder the kids aren't taking it seriously, they are getting the message from Kate that the show is the priority, not school."

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++=

I agree, Admin. The show HAS been the priority since the get-go. They're getting mixed messages because when they're at school, they know that attendance is importance. Nobody else just picks up and pulls out to film. No other student is at TLC's beck and call.

I'm remembering the first day of school episode where Kate was sniffing, saying that the time has flown by so fast, that now she has eight children who are in school full-time. Well, now she doesn't. If she doesn't get her act together and get down to parenting, she'll have some more sitting with her at home working on their reading skills, and she'll be spending more hours at the copying machine getting those lesson plans ready.

Ah, but how many in a graduating class in your public school system? When you only have 35 kids in a graduating class as compared to 300+, obviously the larger public school system is going to have more "elite" placements because there's more of a student pool.

I am not disputing kindergarten these days has a lot of academic components to it, I am merely saying that socialization is very important too and especially important for these kids, and that socialization is not being taken seriously enough at the expensive of making sure the kids memorize some song about the planets. Just look at how Alexis reacted when she didn't see a whale on the Alaska trip right when she wanted to see a whale--whining, moaning, crying, stomping around. A completely inappropriate reaction that she needs a great amount of help with. A bystander very well might have assumed she was autistic she was so out of control. Socially she is in shambles. Clearly this area is seriously lacking for the Gosselin kids. My opinions on kindergarten are not based on "thirty years ago." I'm very aware of what is going on in our educational system, and have strong opinions about what is and isn't working.

The planets? Foreign languages? (actually this is the one area I think we should be teaching MUCH earlier when brains are still open to it, but there is plenty of time for the rest) The Gosselin kids can't even stay in school for two months let alone learn complicated subjects like the solar system.

I think it's just plain absurd all that is required of some kindergartners. I have seen the same kind of expectations piled onto first and second graders. It broke my heart to spend three hours a night four days a week with a FIRST GRADER doing homework. She should be enjoying being six, not sitting with her nanny fighting over two plus two all night. There was a lot to teach her about the world that had nothing to do with busywork worksheets and we weren't given enough time to do it. Even going on a walk after school with a six year old can be a learning experience--just one example is point out the animals you see and discuss them, the plants, the flowers. A million things you can do to help them learn.

I think piling on all these academic requirements is going to have serious consequences--we're going to see children burned out by the third and fourth grade when this shouldn't be happening until the last few years of high school. Children will resent homework before it ever starts to really pile on later. Children might even say after twelve years of hell why would I want to sign up for four years more of it in college even worse? These requirements are going to have SERIOUS consequences on some children's attitude toward learning. Elementery school for me was fun and stress-free. I managed to become a lawyer, clearly I was able to accomplish that without the laundry list of requirements for kindergarten these days. It's just so silly.

How about this, maybe the Gosselin children are exhausted from working for their mother's TV show then having to work all day in school plus homework. They filmed on a schoolday at Party City--they had to be up at 5, hauled off to school an hour away, worked their butts off in school all day according to the educational standards, then yanked out early (and probably had make up work) to start filming all evening. No wonder the kids are breaking down.

And yes, posts that begin with a snide remark such as "ridiculous" are less likely to get published. The snot factor has gone up a lot the past few weeks and I'd love for it to stop. Once one person is snotty it sets off a chain reaction and everyone responds in kind and I'm sick of it. If I have to do a strict purge and delete a bunch of comments I will. We can have a discussion without everyone getting mad and snotty, please relax.

"But am I the only one who is sick to death of insiders and anonymous posters acting like every kid who goes to a Country Day School is a little Einstein?"

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

I don't believe that anyone ever acted like they have a brilliant child, or every kid who goes to a country day school is intellectually superior. Some stated that the school is not for everyone, and that there were great public schools and other private schools the kids could attend. I'd be interested in seeing those "anonymous" posts in which others declared that their children were genuises, and so far above students in other schools. I guess I missed that.

Parents don't pay $15,000 to send a child to school to sit around and sing silly songs. If a school has an excellent reputation in the community as being progressive (so good, in fact, that students are bused from neighboring counties), then parents expect that these kids will do more than spend a day cutting pumpkins out of orange paper. They could do that at home. Parents know what is being taught in Kindergarten. They see the curriculum before the child is enrolled. If they feel that their children just aren't developmentally ready for this, it is their option to find a school where their child will be comfortable and excel, both socially and academically. It is the parents' decision where their children go. You just don't throw a child into a Kindergarten class in a progressive school if you know your child isn't ready for it.

I'm remembering an episode in which the kids had never used a scissors and had no idea what to do with it, and Kate had to show them. Kids learn these skills from their parents. Imagine how embarrassed they would be in Kindergarten, if they looked at a scissors and didn't know how to use it. Other kids might possibly tease them. If these children are developmentally delayed, it's not the fault of the school. It's their parents' fault because filming was a priority. Education wasn't on Kate's agenda. She's now paying for this. However, it seems like she is bent on filming, leading one to believe she hasn't yet grasped the importance of education.

Absolutely. I can remember one summer when my kids came home on the last day of school with summer reading assignments and homework. They had to buy multiple books. My blood pressure soared. The kids are worked so hard all year long. Summer is summer! It should be stress free. The reason given was so the kids wouldn't forget what they had learned in school all year, and they wouldn't forget how to read. We never had summer homework, and by darn, we could still read when we went back to school in the fall! I remember thinking that if the school was going to load them down with summer assignments, the kids might as well be going to a year-round school. It's overkill.

"Just look at how Alexis reacted when she didn't see a whale on the Alaska trip right when she wanted to see a whale--whining, moaning, crying, stomping around. My thoughts exactly. Something just isn't right there. Six-year-olds don't behave like that. They just don't. I would imagine that it is this kind of behavior that is manifested on a daily basis in the classroom. It's not too late for these kids, but only if Kate recognizes that there is a problem and tries to fix it. So far, nothing, and I'm not holding my breath.

As the mother of two girls recently in Kindergarten I can assure you it's not the same as it was when we were young.

I was actually shocked to learn what my girls were required to know BEFORE entering Kindergarten:

How to print their name starting with a capital letter and the rest in lowercase.

How to recite the alphabet (recite, not sing) Although this one didn't surprise me.

How to write the entire alphabet in Capital and Lowercase letters. This had to be in the new D'Nealian alphabet not block print. D'Nealian is a combination of block and cursive. Some children had a hard time in class because they had to UNLEARN block print and learn D'Nealian. All the workbooks I bought my daughter had block print so I couldn't even use them.

How to count to 25.

How to tie their shoes.

How to stand in line, raise their hand, say please and thank you, etc.

In Kindergarten you don't just play and sing songs. You learn to read. You learn patterns (red, yellow, blue, red, yellow, blue OR square, triangle, square triangle, etc). They have separate art, library, gym and music classes. They also have computer classes. They also get homework.

And those are just the basics. The curriculum is even harder this year. They CUT OUT play time!

In FIRST GRADE my daughter can read, speak at least ten phrases in Spanish after 3 months in school (we didn't have Spanish class until 7th grade growing up) and takes 5 tests every week. (They are very big on testing and teach the first and second graders all the skills they need to prepare them for all the future testing that takes place in third grade and above.)

She too has separate gym, art, music, library and computer classes.

Kindergarten, and even first grade is nothing like it was twenty or thirty years ago.

(Incidently my one daughter was punched in the eye by a little boy in her Kindergarten class and he was not expelled nor suspended. Other than that I don't even know what measures the school took aside from speaking to him about it. I was only told it was "handled.")

My daughter and I were watching the last 15 minutes of "Homemade Millionaire" on TLC last night, and saw a promo for K+8 at 10pm on Sunday.

My take on some of the children having difficulty in kindergarten has nothing to do with academics or curriculum, everything to do with social skills. Yes, the PACK attended church preschool, and preschool at their current school last year. But from what we were shown of church preschool, they were still the PACK. You have to know how to listen and sit for short periods of time to be successful in kindergarten. And you have to know how to interact with other children (non PACK members).

Speech Pathologist, I agree with your post. It's also another example of Kate's skewed pereception of reality. Either she THINKS her kids something they are not, or she's FORCING them to be something they are not. And with both scenarios, she's NOT actively participating to fix the situation. We all witnessed the "good, the bad and the ugly". Both parents did not put in the WORK it takes to socialize and educate those kids. The WORK they did do was to film, to travel, to get "perks", to ignore, to instigate drama, to "create a day", to "create a holiday", follow the script du jour...the most important parental duties were NOT PERFORMED! She's has her ROLE as a mother mixed with the fact that she IS a mother and this role is more important to her. Saying your a mother, doesn't make you one! Her "star" image is number one on her agenda, which again she thinks is something that it's not.

May I please dispel the myth that Lancaster Country Day School is all that. It is a private school, parents send their children there for a variety of reasons and some just send them to not have them attend the city school. Lancaster County is blessed and I mean blessed with very good suburban public schools where children can reach their potential. We also have very good Catholic private schools in the area. I do hope that all 8 can be back at their school soon as film crews and paid staff does not substitute for

Somehow, I knew the weekend wouldn't go by without some staged photos coming out. Gee, wasn't it very cold, damp and windy in PA on Thursday and Friday? Not exactly weather to be playing outside in, unless of course mommy needs a new photo op.

It's not mentioned in their post, but when you click on the photos it says: "Exclusive - Kate Dresses The Kids In Costume & Steve Neild Comes Over For Thanksgiving". There's an older boy in some of the photos, so I assume that's Steve's son.

The Gosselin Kids Celebrate Thanksgiving In Costume – Photos!

Jon and Kate came to an amicable decision regarding Thanksgiving this year. Kate would have the kids for the actual day while Jon and Ellen would have them for the weekend. For Kate’s part of the holiday, she dressed the kids up in Native American dresses and painted their faces. They played outside with a rubber chicken of all things. Shoka the dog definitely enjoyed that aspect of the holiday.

There’s no word on how the couple plans to handle the upcoming Christmas holiday, but hopefully they will be able to reach an acceptable compromise.

_____________________________________________

That is true. My father used to take me on "nature walks" when I was a kid and point out various plants, birds etc... Eventhough we lived in an urban area, he always managed to find some wooded area nearby for our walks. It is a fond memory I have and was true father and daughter time. And started doing this before I even started school.

I remember one episode on J&K when Jon tried to take the kids on a nature walk after they moved into the new house. The kids hated it and whined, cried and complained just about the whole time. How sad that Jon was trying to spend quality time outside with his children and their mother, who never spends this type of time with them, has kept them so isolated that they could not even enjoy going out and around the property with their father.

But maybe, someday, when they are older, some of them will remember moments such as that and realize that their father at least tried to give them more of himself than their mother ever did.

I wonder why TLC's "favourite family" has been delegated to the 10pm time slot? Isn't 10 pm a little late for the "families" to stay up and watch Sunday night before going back to school? Why is it rated PG??? Why are SIX YEAR OLDS on a show that SIX YEAR OLDS shouldn't even be watching?
Things that make you go hmmmm????

Wow ... those pics on INFDAILY of the children dressed up as Indians for Thanksgiving are pathetic. A couple of the girls have bare arms and legs ... they must have been freezing because it was rather chilly on Thursday. And it looks like a different nannie/mannie playing with them. Wouldn't you think Kate could rouse herself to actually play with them herself...even if it's only for a photo op?

BTW, a good post on GWOP, apparently from a flight attendent on one of the G's Philly-to-LA flights.

My God is Kate cocky!! When asked if she wanted to continue her show, she says something along the lines of "no end in sight..." well for those who watched, you know what she said. Well, Kate, did you stop & think that there are people out there that DON'T want to watch your stupid show? That it is tanking in the ratings? And did you maybe stop & think that your children may want to stop filming? Kate is so hell bent on staying relevant that she will keep that farce of a show on the air even though it A) sucks the life out of her kids. B) Just plain sucks. She is ultra-cocky. Get over yourself.

Maybe they are not putting K+8/TBA up there so people will leave it tuned to TLC who plan to watch sister wives after Palin and they may still get to count those viewers who didn't switch over fast enough. I may watch Sarah and Sister Wives but I will tune out early, before and after the TBA so as not to get stuck being counted as a person who would actually watch a mother torment her poor, tired children on film no doubt.

According to the posts I read (because I don't watch) the kids act babyish, do you think this upsets Jon in the least? I wonder if he's going to bring this up in court at all, now that there are issues with school expulsions. Do you think he'll call her out on her recent lies to the media? Just curious...

The kids are encourgaged to act like this. After all, who wants to watch 6 (8) well behaved children pointing and saying very quietly "wow - look at the whales"....Kate screams and acts like a child and if the children don't get excited enough (read that as scream and carry on or "melt down") during the first "take" they reshoot the scene. Other folks who have been there can tell you that this is exactly how it goes down. As I said, this behavior is encourgaged and the kids think that it's the norm.

Ya know, every time Jon has the kids and Chris the Gosselin Pap decides to take a pic, the Sheeples call it a photo op. Now the kids are either filming or it was a staged photo op from Kate to Chris to keep her and her kids in the celeb news column. Of course she is either getting paid or getting some freebies out of these staged photo ops. Who goes out on Thanksgiving Day to take photos of the Gosselin kids unless it was a planned photo op? Does Chris have any family to spend the holiday with or is Kate Gosselin his only family member?

Count me in as one of those who is tired of hearing about how great the Gosselin's kids' school is. Obviously, they aren't that great if they (as someone else stated) didn't prepare the kids adequately for kindergarten, after a year and a half of preK and junior K.

It's no great revelation that kindergarten curriculums are now covering more academics than what they did when we were children. However, that doesn't mean that all of the other important parts of the first year of school should be eliminated. I get so tired of hearing about "but at MY kid's kindergarten, they were reading!" They were at mine too. The phenomenon is not confined to private school. But that doesn't mean that it has anything to do with the price of tea in China.

At-risk and low income children do benefit from early intervention. But research shows that for children not in those situations, almost all advantages gained by early reading, preschool, all day kindergarten, etc., are usually "evened out" by the 3rd grade or so. In other words, the other kids catch up to the early readers and those who went to preschool and/or academic kindergartens. Of course there are kids who are early readers who go on to be high achievers academically in high school or beyond. But those children likely would have read early whether or not they went to an academically-focused kindergarten or not.

My kids go to public school on the west coast. They are more than adequately being prepared for college, even highly selective colleges, should they choose to do so and have the natural abilities which are also necessary. You rarely can tutor- and private school- your way into Harvard. And if you try and actually do succeed, maybe you should think about whether it's wise to sacrifice your child's wellbeing to do so. 2 hour daily bus rides, daily homework, summer academic requirements, no play time in elementary school - no THANKS. I'll take my chances with my children being happy, healthy, having lots of friends, and having time to pursue interests outside of school and spend time with their families. If they're interested in and intelligent enough to get into highly selective colleges, great. If not, at least I know that they had happy childhoods.

As far as Kate is concerned, the private school (and frankly the tutors) is just another example of how she thinks she can buy everything that is important in life. We know a little boy who was kicked out of his private school for fighting. He's now in public school and doing just fine. Seems to me that this was a chance for Kate to normalize these children's lives and not cloister them away with a tutor.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 114

The government is doing it's own study on the Head Start program. A program that sounds like such a great thing on paper. Guess what? They're finding out that it's actually one huge giant expensive failure. Kids DO even out by third grade or so no matter how much they try to push them. Seems to me there are other factors at play other than school--I think a big one is home life and how interactive and motivated your parents are to facilitate your learning. Kate is far more concerned about filming to be bothered with silly things like teaching the children not to punch and throw dog toys at their siblings.

Sport said... 115

"My kids go to public school on the west coast"

Mine do, too.
Such a great post Robin - on all counts.

Attempting to relate some private kindergarten with being admitted to a specific college 12 years later is ludicrous.

"I'll take my chances with my children being happy, healthy, having lots of friends, and having time to pursue interests outside of school and spend time with their families. If they're interested in and intelligent enough to get into highly selective colleges, great. If not, at least I know that they had happy childhoods."

It sounds like we share the exact same parenting philosophy.

My son (who was also a premie) went to public schools the whole way through (and I have to admit the school he went to for second and third grade was pretty bad). And he just graduated from Harvard Law. You definitely don't have to go to fancy private schools to get in a top ranked university.

That was Alexis' stick, IIRC. She had been poking it at siblings and swinging it around like a whip. Jon told her several times to stop, and she didn't. So, he made it impossible for her to do it anymore. Seems like an appropriate response from a father to me. What would Kate have done, I wonder? - assuming she would ever go on a nature walk with her kids in the first place.

So now it's the school's fault that the kids weren't developmentally ready for Kindergarten? It's the school's fault that these kids are lacking in socialization skills? It's the school's fault that these kids mimic Kate's behavior and have anger/rage issues? I guess the school is the one that is responsible for taking the kids on endless filming excursions, encouraging them to be pulled out of classes to go on these trips?

I'm so glad that there are so many people on here who know exactly why these kids were withdrawn from Kindergarten, what the school's role was in all of this, and what the school did or didn't do to to try to help these kids.

If you have insider information and were with the school/administration every step of the way, and didn't sign a confidentiality agreement, perhaps you could post it.
I bet Kate spins it this way. "The school just couldn't help us."

fidosmommy said... 119

Count me in the "not so impressed" column about the Gosselin's school. I've said before I went to public, a friend went to the same brand of school in our hometown that the Gosselins attend. I visited the school one day. She was in her 3rd year of Upper School (a Junior), I was a Sophomore, and my studies were AHEAD of what they were doing in her classes. I could join in the class because I'd already studied all this stuff - except the French. I took Spanish and could talk circles around the Upper School Spanish students we had lunch with. Their college acceptance rosters were quite impressive, but my public school friends were accepted at CalTech, VaTech, MIT,
Yale, Bryn Mawr, Vassar, Princeton, Duke and
all sorts of out of state public universities.
So, "impressed" is not a word I would use for these private schools. You can - and do - get a successful education anywhere if you apply yourself and do the work required. Oh, I should add that the state I'm from consistently ranked near the bottom of the national rankings for public schools at that time. Something like 46th or so. Again, education is what you decide to make it.

It's not the school's fault that they are lacking in social skills, have emotional issues which are causing them to lash out at others, or any of the other problems the Gosselin children may or may not have. But if people are going to tout the school as being so academically acclaimed, and they're charging the tuition they are charging and have such a great teacher to student ratio, then there's no reason the children shouldn't have been ready academically for kindergarten at age 5. If the school can't manage to prepare a child for kindergarten, then I don't want to hear about how wonderful they are in other academic areas with older children. That's all I was saying.

I agree fully that the problems they're experiencing, whatever they are (I don't claim to actually know), are likely due to their home life and being put on public display since they were born. I also don't feel there is anything wrong at all with a child starting kindergarten at age 6, and that it's healthier for a child to not push school and academics at an early age. (My younger children didn't go to preschool and went to kindergarten only 3 hours a day; my son was almost 6 when he started kindergarten.) I just have issues with a school which does charge high tuition rates for pre-K and advertises how wonderful they are academically and still doesn't prepare a child for kindergarten at the typical kindergarten age.

Heide said... 121

I believe that the ONLY reason those kids were expelled is because of Kate. She's a horrible mother and doesn't seem to care anything about her kids. I remember one early show where they asked her which kids were left-handed and which were right-handed and she couldn't answer. Who doesn't know that about their kids? She just doesn't interact well with them and models terrible behavior. Any of us can see problems and issues the kids are having, and she doesn't seem to care or notice. And then continues to make them film. She's a horrible, horrible mother.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 122

Robin, I totally agree. That's the point I've been sort of trying to articulate. You can have the latest and greatest private prep school in the world where kindergartners have high tea and recite Shakespeare, but if your parents don't prepare you socially for such an environment, you're probably not going to even get to the academic part before you're pulled out for not even being able to be in the same room with other kids your age.

Good public schools, some, offer a wide variety of AP classes. You can tailor your schedule to be as challenging as you want, or you can slack. I worked harder than I did in college when I was in high school, I took two AP's a semester. It was rough, but the result was I had a bunch of credits I could use in college and graduated a semester early from college thus saving a ton of money, I didn't have to take a bunch of "101" courses in college I'd be bored with I could skip straight to the real stuff, and I was so well prepared for the rigors of college that it was no big deal to me. Personally I think having the CHOICE to take a hard high school schedule was much better for me personally than being in a prep school and have it forced on me. There is also something to be said for putting a kid in an environment where they are leveling out at the top, and not just one of the pack.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 123

One thing a lot of people say about private schools is the class size.

Well when I was taking specific AP classes like AP European History there were only 6 kids in that class. I probably got way more personal attention than I ever would in even the best private school. Some days it was practically like I was being one-on-one tutored in it.

You have to teach kids to be 'whole' entities in order for them to succeed and she doesn't have the time, patience or intelligence to teach them anything. This is not just a personal opinion, it's been validated by her actions and words.

You got that right. I think that the twins are going to be okay. It's the little ones who are going to have problems. I've watched their actions and mannerisms, particularly when doing the couch talk. They act more like three and four year-olds rather than six-and-a-half. I know that they are just kids, but I think it goes beyond that. Kate exhibits such immaturity in her mannerisms, not to mention the annoying screeching, weird hand gestures, gum chewing, eye rolling. The kids pick that up. She has not taught them any kind of socialization skills, and she has not taught them any manners. But that's not surprising when the parent herself is lacking in social graces.

ITA that AP courses are a great thing. We didn't have them back in the dark ages when I was in high school, but my father was a college professor, so I had the advantage of being able to take college level summer school courses beginning when I was a high school freshman. It was a tremendous help when I got to college. I already had nearly a year's worth of credits, knew what I wanted to major in, and didn't have to take the boring Freshman intro courses. And, as you said, saved a ton of money. Public/private school doesn't matter when 1/3 of the equation (in this case, the parent(s) ) are missing. As long as Kate isn't willing to work with her kids, and to take responsibility for her failures as a parent, her kids are going to struggle. The main reason the twins are more successful is because they had the involvement of extended family in their early years.

A completely inappropriate reaction that she needs a great amount of help with. A bystander very well might have assumed she was autistic she was so out of control. Socially she is in shambles. Clearly this area is seriously lacking for the Gosselin kids."
___________________________________________

My thoughts exactly. Something just isn't right there. Six-year-olds don't behave like that. They just don't. I would imagine that it is this kind of behavior that is manifested on a daily basis in the classroom. It's not too late for these kids, but only if Kate recognizes that there is a problem and tries to fix it. So far, nothing, and I'm not holding my breath.

You know, I'm really fortunate. My kids are bright and my husband has a great job. As a result, we send our kids to excellent private schools. But am I the only one who is sick to death of insiders and anonymous posters acting like every kid who goes to a Country Day School is a little Einstein? It's pretentious and kind of nauseating. Six year old are SIX YEARS OLD! Some read serious chapter books and some are just learning to read. Elitists make us all look bad. Take a pill. Even in Country Day Schools, six year olds sing songs and act silly. Get over yourselves, people.

Obviously whatever the kindergarten teachers were doing with Alexis and Collin weren't working. Maybe they are too focused on your list of things to teach and not enough on the big picture--i.e. just helping these kids interact on an appropriate level that wasn't going to get them expelled/kicked out/asked to leave/agreed to leave

Admin, surely you are not blaming the teachers for A and C being expelled????

I certainly hope the nannies don't treat the children like Hate does. I hope they're actually kind and loving. Snark intended.

As much as I appreciate our Admins hard work on this blog, I still can't play those videos with Kate Gosselin. Her voice just will end up giving me night mares, sorry.

I think she's the type of person who shows up 20 minutes before a holiday dinner and says, Okay what do you need me to help with I'm at your service! By that time the only thing left to do is uncork the wine. All the real work was done hours and days before by her employees.

Wouldn't you think ABC had a private jet whisking the DWTS contingent to NYC? I don't Katie Irene has that privilege. (Yet.) Commercial red-eye on the heaviest travel day of the year? I bet she didn't even make it back to PA.

KateTLCandtheJudgeSuck-ITA with you about liking Ryan Seacrest, and was kind of suprised when I read about him mentoring her, as I thought he did not think much of her. I guess it could have been a "plant", to get more people talking, it would make me sad if he has changed his mind about her, just to cash in by using her. I sure hope not, as I like him alot better since he started dating Juliannne Hough :)

I think Ryan's too savvy a businessman to attach himself to a sinking ship like Kate.

Khate was a top search over the internet through the weekend. IMO the release of the kids' expulsion was given after the ratings tanked... now her show, climbing on the bad news about her kids, will climb right back up there.

Can't keep the train wreck watchers away... but I won't be watching.

Did anyone else read anything more about kate being mentored by Ryan Seacrest? I read it this week, can't remember where.

I don't think Ryan Seacrest cares for Kate at all, so I don't think that would be happening. I never much cared for Ryan until I saw he didn't care for Kate and my opinion of him changed. That and the Julianne Hough hook-up and I find him more tolerable now. ;-)

I WON'T BE WATCHING is what MY satellite guide says.
If you watch the show, you are just furthering the exploitation of the Gosselin 8 AND putting more money into Kate's pocket. Do you really want that?
*********************

Smiley here is Kate's exact quote, it's in the last third of the Letters book if I recall. I can find the page number for you if you want later.

Administrator said... 148

Hmmm, didn't I read that her new episode was this Sunday? I thought it was sandwiched in between a new episode of Sarah Plain's show and that Sister Wives show. Well, according to my satellite guide for Sunday:

8 pm - a repeat of last week's Palin show
9 pm - a new episode of Palin
10 pm - new episode of Sister Wives
11 pm - To Be Announced.

What does everyone else's cable and/or satellite guides say??

Nobody, how very innnteresting. I have DirectTV and it's also showing "to be announced." Sarah Palin's Alaska and Sister Wives are there. No Kate Plus 8 anywhere. Although TVGuide still has it on at 10pm and so does TLC
-----------------

Just When I Thought It Couldn't Get More Ludicrous Around Here said... Administrator said...

This woman doesn't even TRY to hide how absolutely thrilled she is to be in L.A. and what a drag it is when she's back with the commoners in PA.

******

November 26, 2010 10:12 AM

When has Kate ever smiled and lit up around her kids like she does in Hollywood?

Never!

You will never see her glowing and giddy when she is within 10 miles proximity of her kids.

Administrator said... 152

OMG, I will not watch the video, but that insane, "I'm in LOVE with myself" smile is creeping me out. It reminds me of Jack Nicholson in The Shining as he was quickly losing his sanity. "Heeerrreees Johnny!" I was looking for REDRUM in the background.

Lauren said... 154

As I've said for awhile now, Kate will be her own undoing. The evidence is in the first screen grab of Kate looking like the female version of Jack Nicholson's character from The Shining.

A Pink Straight Jacket For Kat said... 155

Thanks for posting the video, but I think that I will pass on this one.

Kate looks positively demented.

Gosselin8ComeFirst said... 156

Administrator said... 157

It's t-shirt time!!!

Seems to me 90% of kindergarten is teaching social interaction. These kids are isolated enough.

Disgusting.
