Not only did the kids have to endure a camera crew in their faces while they tried to have fun, but the Paparazzi too!
Were these shot on the property? As a private property (unlike the public road outside the Gosselin house), the owners had every right to kick Chris out.
91 sediments (sic) from readers:
This is a frakkin' brilliant set of pictures because you see exactly what surrounds those little ones. And the little bits do NOT look happy to see that stuff.
Now if They Who Must Not Be Named can grow enough empathy to put themselves in the place of their beloved 8...
I hate to pick on everything this woman does, but what is the deal with her wearing a heavy winter coat, and one of the little girls in a lightweight sweater?
It just appears she has no clue about anything.
Now come on Chris, just own up to it, you're on TLC's payroll. Come clean would ya? And you khate, stop with the drama! 20 people there, mostly kids?? You and your entourage had just as many people there! What did she expect? Raise her arms and the corn maze would part like the Red Sea, sweep all the "gawkers" away? She "makes" a spectacle of herself and has the audacity to say she can't go anywhere? Her kids can't go anywhere? Get over yourself!
I posted earlier, I think the footage they got this weekend will tie in with some "finale" episode and they'll flash back to the first corn maze episode. (editing the "HELLLOOOOO???" part of course) They spent so little time filming, they only got footage of the kids running. There will be some sappy stuff about how much they've grown, how things were easier...blah blah...slow-mo shots, music, crocodile tears...
Maybe Chris paid to get into the maze too? Does he live in his car? Funny, he follows old lady Gosselin everywhere she goes but he seemed to miss her trip to family court a couple of weeks ago. I wonder if TLC pays him to stay away from some things too.
And doesn't her hair look a lot like the dead corn stalks?
Kate looks absolutely ridiculous with those stilleto boots... she must have sank in the mud... I mean has she NEVER been in a field... SHE LIVES IN PENNSYLVANIA for goodness sake. She is the biggest idiot EVER.
Pumpkin patch and corn maze rings sturdy tennis shoes and outdoor boots to me... not whore shoes a la Snooki. Geez, this woman is unfit to raise children, let alone take care of her own self. She needs hospitalized and soon, she is heading down Britney Spears's path.
I mean I have a pair of boots like that but I wear those when I have an interview or a meeting or a formal occasion... NOT IN A CORN FIELD!
Admin, IS it considered private property if it is open to the public and an admission fee is charged? (I'm assuming it costs to go there). I don't know, I'm asking.
Is that blue folder her script for her non-reality show? Does it say, "No joy or fun allowed! Get 'er done because mama needs a new pair of stilettos and leggings!"
I feel very sorry for those little kids.
OOPs. Never mind, Admin. I guess even a business is the private property of the business. You don't have to post this or my previous post. Thanks
Yes it's private they have a right to refuse if someone is being a nuisance such as taking photos of other customers. They also have a right as private prop to say no photos period. Just because you invite the public does not make you a public place.
Play errr...'work permits' were valid 4/20/10 through 10/20/10. Maybe that's what's in the folder if not a script?
"During their outing, Kate & Co. also paid a vist to the Dunkins Corn Field Maze in rural Robsonia, Pennsylvania."
Also??? This caught my eye. Are they going to make the trip to Party City look like it was filmed before they went to the maze? (again not reality) or did they actually do something else that day that Chris did not get invited to?
Also the article mentioned her spending alot of money?? I doubt she did at that p. patch. She wasn't there long enough.
I'm just amazed that TLC & Kate think that this is must see t.v...
Someone described Kate as looking "flawless"- I forgot where I read that.
You have got to be kidding, right? Flawless is not a word that comes to mind when I see Kate.
How funny! You can't tell where the corn and her hair start and stops! The corn looks better in some pics...
You know what? Who cares? Does she think she is still relavent? What floors me, if all reported was legit, how in the world a Judge can simply over rule a parent with regards to "filming".
Makes you wonder..who is behind the curtain after all.
As a private property (unlike the public road outside the Gosselin house), the owners had every right to kick Chris out.

Why would they, even if he (or any paps) were misbehaving? They take photos; photos are published online; videos are shown on local television stations; publicity means business for the owners of the maze. I would think that the maze would have welcomed a possible explosion in business...and the publicity is all free -- no charges for radio or television advertisiing!
I should bite my tongue for saying this but I have to admit that Kate's outfit looks great...
Just completely inappropriate for a corn maze.
When will these poor kids get to enjoy their childhood and fun family events w/out being instructed on what to do and how to behave and what to say??????
I switch back and forth to read comments and Blog postings. What I have realized is that this blog is like TMZ and the other pro Kate blogs are like Radar. This blog has intelligent, well thought out stories and intellingent replies, both pro and con Kate. The other sites are like Radar in that they spin a story to thier liking. Just read how they twist (Radar vs TMZ) the latest "news" about Mel Gibson or Charlie Sheen. The same goes for the sheeple sites.
The sheeple sites would have you believe that Jon is abusing his kids and Ellen is controlling his mind! Well, Radar is NEVER going to change (they are owned by the National Enq) and ratings are ALL they care about and the Sheeple are blind leading blind. They dont want to believe anything bad about Queen Kate, as mentioned here many times. IMO. Oh well, off my soap box now.
Kate Gosselin has ended up being smarter than any one of us. Her next TLC Kate Plus 8 episode will be the Alaska trip: KA-CHING!! ...$250,000 in Kate's pocket. After the Alaska Kate Plus 8 episode, there will be a separate episode of Kate Plus 8 for their Halloween/autumn activities: KA-CHING!!...*ANOTHER* $250,000 in Kate pocket. You see, Kate ended up being smarter than any of us. She is now financially set for life. We are the stupid ones. Kate is clever as a fox.
When she's with her children, why does this woman always look like she's about to vomit?
If she has such a severe reaction to them, why doesn't she turn them in for a refund and get gerbils, or something she CAN manage?
"Kate plus 8 Gerbils" might be a funny show that people would want to watch!
OOps, I forgot, the SPCA would never allow it...

Really, Suzanne? Really?
So Kate is smart for making money?
But who did all the work? Her children.
Who sacrificed their childhood? Her children.
Making money is one thing, but going about it by exploiting your children is unethical. Think again, Suzanne.
Those kids certainly seem to be working in that corn maze.
There is nothing fun happening there.
Why would the business turn away the paps? Oh I don't know, because it's disgusting and creepy to chase down 10 kids under ten with your camera lens? But I guess everyone who enters their lives is just seeking to make a buck, not actually do what is in their best interest.
Sorry, eight kids, lol. Kate wishes she had 10, more kids to complain about!
They must really be hurting for material to show Halloween at Thanksgiving or thereabout. They are all bunched up getting their marks and ques. The little kids are pros - Khate well she can't walk and chew gum at the same - it is all so confusing for her. She had to have known she was not cut out to have even one child let alone 8.

Unbelievable!!!! The realist reality show has a storyline?! What?! Another example of Katie's lies, yet there she is holding a ?script?. What else could it be. AND she looks straight into the paps lens for her photo op. She grew up in the country & she FORGOT appropriate dress/shoes for the corn maze. What a stupid fame ho! Poor kids need a guardian to protect them from Momster Dearest!
Un-f-in-believable....so disgusting!

Clever, no. Greedy, selfish, self-centered, and an exploiter yes. She is taking the easy way out, there's nothing clever about that.
Hi, my name is Kate. I'm, um, gonna be on the TV so I have to look my bestestish. I'm dragging my, uh, 8 props, er, I mean, moneymakers, UM, I mean, loving children to a corn maze today to film an episode of my show that people may or may not even care about. I don't know what sensible shoes means. Since I'm SO famous, I need to look, like, really, uh good. (smacks gum) I think I'll wear, um, big black boots with heels because nothing says walking around a corn maze like, um, heels! My hair even matches the corn stalks! I have to remember to call Chris cause he's like, my best friend behind dreamboat Stevie. Paid friends are, um, better than nothing! OMG, (giggle) I wonder when People magazine will call me back? I AM Kate Gosselin. HEY KIDS, MOVE YOUR ASSES! You don't live for free in MY house!

I agree with Suzanne. Kate knows how to get what she wants. She wants money and MORE money. She goes about doing just that despite what is said about her. Saying she knows how to go about getting what she wants isn't agreeing with her methods.
Many people believe she planned this from the get-go, having multiples and making a boatload of money. That's exactly what she's accomplished.
Is she a heartless shrew? Yes she is.
@ Susie Q, If you call KG smarter than a fox than we all must be Einsteins than, the woman can't walk and chew at the same time and yet she is considered smarter than a fox..geez..doesn't take much brains to throw your kids into TLC's arms and say film them. Ya giving her too much credit, Susie Q.
When the children's work was finished (after 20 minutes filming); why couldn't she let them enjoy the maze and the other activities and treats. Even adults enjoy fun things after their work day is over - why not children?
What a sad life for those children. They'll look back on their childhoods as a sacrifice they made to keep mommy dearest in heels and weaves, while the public mocked the heels and weaves.
Does Kart ever smile in the midst of her children? She always looks so frazzled and paranoid. She's not cut out for being a TV personality, she can't seem to handle being out in public for more than a half hour.
I'd love to know what exactly this Christian family that doesn't celebrate Halloween did in front of the cameras. I'm sure whatever Kart is being paid was enough for her to drop her convictions for a week, if she had any to begin with. Maybe it was peer pressure from other kids in school who do celebrate Halloween? Or maybe because Kart's upbringing didn't include Halloween, her own children must not enjoy it either?
I think the real reason is because it is something cute that can still be filmed with 6 and 10 year olds. We've seen every other milestone already, what's left? The kids can't be filmed at school, and it's probably the same at any after-school activities where other kids are present.
I'm waiting for the Christmas episode, in which there is no family, church or outside activities for the G's to participate in. I'm sure the G8 will "want" to perform a Christmas play just for Kart, because she's such a wonderful mom. It's all about manufacturing storylines these days. I still won't watch, as I haven't for years now (the exception of Hannah getting her hair cut on Youtube)
Seems National Enquirers publisher is filling for bankruptcy. Wonder how this effects ROL.

We can't forget the pumpkins! The Gosselins probably had to trod off to film the kids picking out their pumpkins, so they can film at home carving them out.
I'm surprised TLC/Kate never had the idea to film the sextuplets' first trick-or-treating experience. They make a big deal out of everything those sextuplets do, yet only now they are filming this holiday. Let's rush to make this fake Halloween special the bestest holiday experience ever!

Now, now IDModo...the gerbils are working too. They take shifts on that wheel inside her head.

I agree Administrator, having paps snapping photos everywhere these kids go is indeed CREEPY . Just as creepy as Kate allowing TLC to film her children doing everything under the sun- making poopies, going on vacations, having tantrums, etc... etc... to entertain a bunch of strangers watching them t.v. Talk about creepy-
how about a pedophile watching the Gosselin 8 on t.v. from the privacy of his home...
Let's face it, as long as these children are unprotected by laws- their privacy will be sold to the highest bidder.
Either way you put it- being filmed by TLC, having pictures taken by paps, or not going anywhere without being oggled, IT ALL STINKS!
Yes, the corn maze manager should have stopped Chris the pap at the entrance, AS WELL AS TLC's cameras.
Time to give these children back their lives.
FREE THE GOSSELIN 8!

I think the reason why she left so early was because them 5 inch heels were getting stuck in the mud and she got tired of pulling them out. Takes Kate Gosselin to wear heels to a corn maze, all other parents wear appropriate shoes to this.
Auntie Ann, you da best!I completely forgot about the gerbil implants. Thanks for the reminder!
Spiked-heel boots in a corn maze translates to "it's all about me me me, nevermind that the point of the segment is about the kids having some Halloween fun." HATE HER.

I'm sure they would have filmed and exploited the occasion for all they could had they not been trying to sell the Gosselin's as a young Christian family with strong convictions, struggling to raise their large family and who didn't celebrate Halloween with trick-or-treating, Easter with the bunny, or Santa at Christmas.
I'm thinking they're still trying to keep up that facade for the tv viewers, but because of the media we know it was and is a facade - as is so much of their lives. Kate took the kids, in costumes, trick-or-treating last year, they had an egg hunt this past Easter, so the only documentation we don't have is of them celebrating Christmas with Santa.
Normally I don't read anything her fans write just because, but they have been posting every where in site since WG posted her story about the G's at the corn field. I believe the only reason they are upset is because the truth of this woman is being unveiled and they don't like the truth. Her fans would much rather believe that she is the best-est mother around and thinks of her kiddies every second of the day. They want to believe that the kids are not working and that they are playing. Well I guess PA should issue Play permits to all 8 instead of WORK permits cause according to her fans they are just PLAYING.
I'm wondering if the permits were posted at the corn maze, or if the owner knew about the child labor laws. The owner of the maze isn't the "employer," but TLC is. Do they carry a copy of the law to be posted where they are filming? Did WG see a copy of such laws posted?
This portion of the law states as follows:
"It shall be the duty of every person who shall employ any minor, under the age of eighteen years, to post and keep posted, in a conspicuous place in every establishment wherein said minor is employed, permitted or suffered to work, a printed abstract of the sections of this act relating to the hours of labor, and a list or lists of all minors employed under the age of eighteen years and a schedule of the hours of labor of such minors. The schedule of hours of labor herein required shall contain the name of the minor employed or permitted to work, the maximum number of hours such minor shall be required or permitted to work on each day of the week with the total for the week, the hours for commencing and stopping work, and the hours when the time allowed for meals shall begin and end for each day of the week."
I particularly like the part, "or suffered to work." If anyone is "suffering," it's these kids. Is TLC complying with this? There is a penalty...
So it's creepy that Chris goes to the Maze to see them and take pics, but not creepy that Werny Gal goes to the Maze to see them and blog about it on a public blog?
You really don't see the hypocrisy, do you?
Carmen, if that comment was directed at me, read the other thread. I made it quite clear that I do not agree with anyone following the kids at any time, and anyone take photos of the kids any time. This includes lovers, haters, fans, people getting paid, people blogging, and people not getting paid.
It seems to me if the sheeple have a problem with this, then they have admitted that the children have had their privacy violated and that it's a problem. And if this is a problem, then wouldn't it then follow they would agree the show should stop? Seems to me, we've finally found common ground with the sheeple in that we seem to agree their privacy has been violated.
I would add that this is a perfect example of the sheeple so focused on hating any and all things anyone else says or does as to this family, and getting trapped in their own logic.
If they have a problem with someone showing up for filming and taking photos, then the problem is the children being followed is it not? Thus it stands to reason that if this is a problem, then the paparazzi should be a problem, the fans taking photos should be a problem, and the show itself, which they have claimed so many times is just wonderful for the kids, logically must also be a problem, as it too is an invasion of privacy.
What's good for the goose is good for the gosselin.
Oh and I'd like to point out, Jon and Kate were selling photos of the kids for $20 at speaking events. This too, is a huge problem. And geez it's your own parents taking photos of you and disturbuting it, someone you are supposed to trust to guard you. Seems to me that's worse than a random stranger.
@ Carmen, Open your eyes girl, WG lives in PA and was already there before the Gosselins, Creepy Chris sleeps outside the Gosselins house in his car and waits for them to leave or arrive back home. Hmmmmmm don't ya think this lone pap who has been taking pictures of them for over a year still lives in his car and parks it outside their home. WG lives in that area and always has, her and the Gosselins are neighbors.
I disagree with Suzanne.
Some may think that Charlie Sheen is "smart" because he's currently the highest paid guy on TV.
Temporary earning power doesn't always equal smart in my book.
Suzanne said... Kate Gosselin has ended up being smarter than any one of us. Her next TLC Kate Plus 8 episode will be the Alaska trip: KA-CHING!!

There's nothing smart about exploiting other people to make 250k. That's the easy way out. What would be smart is for Kate to figure out how to make 250k without putting her children on TV, trooping them out in front of the paparazzi, or even so much as breathing mention of their names. In other words, to earn the money on her own. Many other people have managed this feat without ever so much as even mentioning their children.
re the blue paper in her hand...i have never heard of a script on blue paper. lol. i'm thinking it was a flyer handed out at the maze...
Heavens said: "WG lives in that area and always has, her and the Gosselins are neighbors."

I guess it depends on what you mean by neighbor when you say that she and the Gosselins are neighbors. If you consider a person who lives in the same town a neighbor, then yes, they are neighbors. If you think that neighbors are people who live next to each other, or in the same community of homes, then no, she and the Gosselins are not neighbors.
There are so many definitions of "neighbor." However, in this big, wide world, some would think that we fellow humans are all neighbors. Mr. Rogers would agree...

As far as the creep factor goes, I think this rates right up there among the top five. I can't ever imagine selling photos of my children to every Tom, Dick and Harry out there. Just the thought of it makes my skin crawl.
Did the TLC production crew present work permits to the corn maze owners or post permits at Party City? I doubt they did. And what would have happened if Jon was shopping at the Party City store or he was at the corn maze when TLC's production crew dropped in? Would TLC have him arrested for trespassing or accuse him of stalking his own children?
Kimmie, the blue paper is a cheat sheet to help people thru the maze. Various colors of cheat sheets are handed out based upon your experience with this maze. See Smalltown Gosselins blog for details.
Yeah WG - and the truth shall set you free (the 8) especially with more coverage like this!
http://www.hollybaby.com/2010/11/01/kate-gosselin-corn-maze-kids-sextuplets-kate-plus-8-filming/
I was reading over some posts and I would be the first one to say without hesitation if I thought that what WG did was at all inappropriate. I think this was accomplished appropriately, with permission to be present and upfront about it to the owner and with so many blogs looking at pictures of filming and not being there and assuming that things happen a certain way, as this industry makes the public believe it happens with a venue called "reality TV" well to have someone clear up any questions as to how filming is done, this is nothing more than having a parent of a child actor explaining to others what happens on production sets. The finished edited product is a far cry from what really takes place. It can be sensationalized to make you believe it was something it was not.
In all the years we have been trying to say what you see is not what really happens and that the children in this industry come second and money first, maybe some are finally seeing this as well. This family and others have no privacy. That was taken away with parent's signatures to contract allowing their children, via this type of media, to have their lives exposed to the world. The children will be the ones to suffer the consequences of this decision as they try to fit in amongst their peers.
The word "stalker" is highly unusual when talking about visiting a "production set" which, if the children are considered working now per the labor Dept, then this place where the cameras are now shooting has become just that. Has anyone been to a production set that is on location outside of a studio? In NYC, I've seen not one dozen, not two dozen but hundreds of people gathering, depending on where the shoot is and what actors are in the shoot. Neighborhood shoots, you see local neighbors coming to see what's going on. It is not unusual at all to have curious eyes coming to see what's going on.
This is also a reality TV show where it's supposed to be every day life in which there are other people living in the same space as this family.
What's ironic is that contracts were signed that allowed no privacy whatsoever with the children. That would be my concern and not the people just looking and wondering what this is truly all about and want to see for themselves. Oddly they invited the world into the children's home, strangers, millions of them, last we heard over 2 million! That's scary. Unknown names and faces all over the world.
How does a parent not worry about this and only worry about a dozen or so local people who want to see what's going on who were there first before the production crew showed up. I think everyone is getting to know this as a very planned out production and not at all just kids being kids.
That's the easy way out. What would be smart is for Kate to figure out how to make 250k without putting her children on TV, trooping them out in front of the paparazzi, or even so much as breathing mention of their names.
====
You know, creepier than anything is that SHE chose to have a whole book of their pictures published to harvest even more cash from her crop. Even the product description of Eight Little Faces on amazon describes the book as a "very personal close-up of their family life...each two-page spread includes a photograph from the Gosselin family album".
How can anyone with a conscience defend this woman? Those kids had no say in it, but she wanted the money and was willing to sell a book full of personal photos of them to get it. There are pedophiles out there who get their satisfaction from one picture of a child, leave alone an entire book, even if they're clothed. She HAD to know the risks.
Sheeple, please, remind us again what makes her such a great mom.
Carmen said... So it's creepy that Chris goes to the Maze to see them and take pics, but not creepy that Werny Gal goes to the Maze to see them and blog about it on a public blog?
You really don't see the hypocrisy, do you?
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%
Both acts are wrong.
But what is the difference between a still camera and video? The sound booms? The night vision? the close ups on the potty chairs? the giggles about poop? Zoom in on temper tantrums? Kate's constant verbally abusive tirades at babies caught for all posterity?
The only difference really is that Kate makes more money off the kids than Chris does.
And for that you really envy and admire her, dont you? It's just plain wrong and harmful and NO I wont look away.
I am not a big fan of ranking what is worse to do to the children. I think it's silly to assign different degrees--any exploitation is bad, it's all not good for them. Just like there's no such thing as a little bit pregnant, I don't really think there's such a thing as a little bit exploitive.
However if we have to go there, personally I find it the most deplorable of all that their own parents took countless still photos and film of them, then turned around and sold it on the free market. Your parents are supposed to be the two people that put you first above anyone else in the world, who protect you from anyone and everyone, who guard your privacy and happiness and childhood like a precious gem. The two people charged with the privilege and gift of protecting these children spit it right back in their faces with every $20 bill they collected.
It's sort of like it's certainly a horrible thing if a child falls out of a tree, but quite another thing entirely if their mother or father pushes them out.

I don't know. I posted a copy of the law upthread. Who is responsible for seeing that these laws are upheld? Should DOL and/or Rep Murt be notified in regards to this? Is TLC ignoring this law, or are they in compliance? It certainly would be interesting to find out.
I don't believe this is a matter of "interpretation." It seems that the law is clear in this matter.
Your opinion, Admin?
Auntie Ann said: "There are pedophiles out there who get their satisfaction from one picture of a child, leave alone an entire book, even if they're clothed. She HAD to know the risks."
------------------
If she did, she didn't care. What always has boggled the mind is that she knew that they were filming kids in various stages of undress, i.e., potty training, naked butts, and she not only let them film it, but also show it on national television. I seem to remember a scene where one of the twins was squirming on the basement floor; another with one of the tups on the sofa with her panties showing; and another one with a crew member filming her son alone in the upstairs bathroom. What kind of a mother does that? She's either incredibly naive, or incredibly stupid...or both. Does she preview these scenes before they're shown, or does she just give TLC Carte Blanche in its filming? Or does TLC mandate that these scenes are shown, in which case a mother should say, "ABSOLUTELY NOT!" and shut off the cameras.
Let's talk reality. Who cares if WG went to the corn maze? She had a right like any other person in the area.
The problem is the filming is not fun for the kids, episodes are aired as fun for the kids, when there is no "fun" involved, but simply Kate collecting $250,000 for filming, to hell with the kid's fun and the children who wanted to see the maze from the bridge. Cameras leave, Kate leaves. Probably a last minute production, but as a mother, minimally Kate should have let the kids have some fun, if even for a reward for filming after, let alone being a good mother and letting the kids have some fun. That is what parents do.
People who can't see this are blind, and will never get it.
Looking at these pics and others along the way, the one thing that really stands out is she is NEVER interacting with any of them and has a look of distain. the way that she has treated the boys all along is sickening. I wondered if, because she had all the help she never bonded with them. that would explain alot. especially when it came to filming things we REALLY should not have seen. she doesn't have that motherly feeling, so she just doesn't care what they film.
The words stalker and creepy aren’t the best words to describe going to observe and photograph the Gosselins. In a public setting anyone has the right to be there. The thing to consider is whether it is hypocritical to be an advocate for the children’s right to privacy and yet go with the purpose of observation and reporting on their blog. Privacy is privacy, it shouldn’t be defined by degrees of privacy—the kids shouldn’t have cameras and booms in their faces or paparazzi following them, but it’s ok if I do and observe and take pictures. Taking pictures of the backs of their heads doesn’t mean one is respecting their privacy. I think more appropriate descriptions of Khate would be devious, conniving, diabolical, lecherous, and of course, greedy. She is a sociopath as well as a narcissist...how scary is that?
I wish she'd get rid of that nasty stringy weave already.
I can't stand seeing that nasty mess in her face all the time. She needs to either cut those bangs, pin them up or keep it behind her ear.
Enough already with the heroin/meth/crack addict look.
When Kate Gosselin and her eight children with ex-husband Jon arrived at a corn maze near their Pennsylvania homestead on Saturday (Oct. 30), an eyewitness claims their fun was over before it even began!

ex-husband Jon arrived??

Never mind, I guess they mean Jon is the father of Kate's eight children. Worded a little weird.
The whole thing just disgusts me and my stomach turns everytime I see her with the kids. NO smiles, no fun and no laughing. Those kids don't even get to enjoy the maze without the cameras and without the scripts. And a judge has let this charade go on? On what positive effect could continue filming have for these kids, except making her mother more money. I know....she slept with the judge with those hooker boots. That's the only think I could think of. I am sorry I shouldn't be so crass, but how do you describe this travesty anymore? What a crapload of shit and I am not talking about Kate this time. I have other words reserved for that thing that takes up precious air.
On another note, did you see the picture of Kate and the kids for the Alaska premiere? Mady is bawling; Kate has her fake, migraine-inducing illuminating veneer smile and the rest of the kids look fake. I just realized the word fake describes Khate's entire life. What a way to live? And yet, the klovers think we are jealous. Absolutely not. I wouldn't trade her bank account and my life EVER.

Yes. Her current hairstyle is too young and too 'hollywood' for her, but whatever. It's also, I think, a bit outdated if a hollywood look is what she is going for.
But I have always assumed that she thinks she is hiding her right eye, which is formed and postioned a bit differently from her left. I hate to call it 'wonky', because it is a little birth defect I think, and certainly not her fault. If Kate were a loving and giving person, we might even think it's a bit charming.

The report was in direct response to Kate's vehement insistence that when the show is being filmed "the kids are just playing." We know better, thanks to reports such as Werny's and the reporter visiting her parents at Bald Head NC. The kids aren't "playing" when the TLC cameras are rolling. They are simply portraying kids playing. Providing first hand witness to the cruel fact that the kids were taken to a corn maze filled with fun activities, filmed for 15 minutes then herded back into the van was absolutely nessesary to prove these kids ARE WORKING. Proving they are working is advocating for them. If the kids had been allowed to stay at the maze and ACTUALLY PLAY we would not be having this discussion, would we?
Instead of crying hypocrisy and shooting the messengers, how about taking a long, hard look at what these kids have to endure to keep their mother in her nails, weave, mansion and extensions.
Suzanne, if Kate was smart, she would've been set for life a long time ago if she had saved the money from previous episodes and love offerings and $20 photos of the kids. Instead of crying poor all the time, and relying in the $500,000 from these two upcoming episodes.
So well said, Dee. I am perplexed as to why the sheeple can't get enough of their idol, Kate. They even worship ROL and other online trash that Kate calls the "p-people" and is on record for saying she hates them and told her 5 year old children to make guns out of their hands and SHOOT at the "p-people" thus teaching her kids to hate them, too. Yet, Kate fans can't get enough of the ROL,etc. pics and stories of her and even c/p them to their own blogs. Baffling and disgusting.
More so than money, Take is the zenith of all EMOTIONAL BLACK HOLES.
Her No.1 desire, rather, ADDICTION, is attention. In this case, addiction to being filmed and followed around by camera people.
That is SO weird. She is SO weird.
And to think it will take a judge in a court of law to separate her from the cameras because she will NEVER BE SATISFIED. The more she gets, the more RAVENOUS she becomes for MORE!

I'm not crying or shooting. I stated my opinion, a rather reasonable and emotionless one, which had to do with respecting privacy...not in degrees, but completely.
Perhaps I'd agree with you that it was absolutely necessary for proof of the 8 working if there weren't scores of pictures all over the internet of them surrounded by cameras and mics. But then, proof for whom? A judge? A court case?
Basically, I agree with Janet. This is a corporate production for the purpose of making money. As such, viewing of production (by visitors or others associated with or curious about filming) is commonplace. The uncomfortable part of it is that there are 6 to 8 participants who don't know they're the stars of their own Truman show. But they are and have been for five years. In five years time there have been very few real accounts written by impartial observers. Maybe that's one reason this charade has gone on as long as it has.
Personally, I don't know if I could have done what Werny did, but it was admirable that she got permission from the owners of the maze (who by the sound of it on Werny's blog today, seemed like they had a lot of questions themselves after the fact) But I do respect the final outcome of her decision and her presence didn't seem to affect or bother the kids. Who are the only people I'm worried about. What effect she had on TLC or whether TLC invited her to come or whether Steve blessed her presence at the field is irrelevant to me.
I don't see anything wrong with watching a filming in progress. Even in this case. Because there are seriously so many people involved with any kind of movie or tv show production that onlookers make little difference. We are uncomfortable because there are kids involved, but this, unfortunately, due to their mother's insatiable greed, was a production set, not a normal outing.
From my observation, in LA filming is so commonplace it's viewed as a nuisance more than anything. I remember walking in a neighborhood near West Hollywood after dinner and stumbling upon a filming of Hancock Park (the Will Smith movie) and even though it was around 10 or 11 at night, there were floodlights, large vans, and people involved with the production for blocks. There were also people (locals, neighbors) watching respectfully on the curbs (It was in a neighborhood with picturesque houses but it wasn't a gated community). There were porto potties set up and there was a sign in front of a house that read "Will Smith how would you like a porto potty in your front yard?" Basically, some of the neighborhood people were upset with the production company involved because they filmed with bright lights late into the night and left stuff around and disrupted their lives. Production people will try to boss civilians around, but it's all bravado and unless they are working within a closed set, the onus is on production to respect the public spaces and ordinary people using the spaces....not the other way around.
Locals in a corn maze have no obligation to overly kowtow to TLC and Steve's wishes. If the maze was open to the public, and TLC arranged to film, it became a production set and Janet from AMC wrote two great posts about what that means.
Just as Kate has used the loopholes about children's rights in reality shows to her extreme benefit, there are also loopholes in laws about production of entertainment shows/movies that WG was able to use in order to view filming.
Production cannot close a set in a public venue. On the street in which Hancock Park was being filmed for example, production was not allowed to close the set. They tried to hurry some people around, but, as a public street, people had a right to be there.
When a production is filmed on a beach, it cannot be a closed set. Most beaches are open to the public and as such, people have a right to be there.
In the corn maze, the owners have the right to determine who could be there during the filming. WG got proper permission and had the right to be there.
In the bookstore, the public was invited.
In the last three examples, Steve inappropriately intruded on people who had the right to be there. He made a reporter on a public beach delete her personal photos of production. He manhandled Admin for no reason other than that she asked Kate a question. He asked WG nosy questions. Just like TLC filmed these kids for years without permits, Steve flaunts laws and tries to intimidate the public.
Steve Kate and TLC all invoke the power of Hollywood to give themselves a legitimacy they have not earned and do not deserve. The public need not cringe and accept their nonexistent authority.
Their production has as much legitimacy as shady films, and you know the ones I mean.
Perhaps I'd agree with you that it was absolutely necessary for proof of the 8 working if there weren't scores of pictures all over the internet of them surrounded by cameras and mics. But then, proof for whom? A judge? A court case?
------------------------
Who needs proof? We already know that Kate drags these children around against their will and that these shows are scripted. I think we've know this for a long, long time. Again, proof for whom? The sheeple? I wouldn't give them the time of day. They'd never know proof if it were sitting right next to them. They'd just take whatever you give them and twist it around for their own purpose and to fit whatever they decide is "logical" at the time. I wouldn't even stoop to their level by reporting on what I had observed at an open filming. It wouldn't make any difference to them anyway. They believe what they want to believe.
It just doesn't hold water to say that the reason someone showed up for filming was because it was a journalistic duty to report to the world how TLC operates.
"Production cannot close a set in a public venue"
-----------------------------
Right...and remember when Steve closed a public restroom for Kate? Talk about cahones! His, not hers! Well, maybe hers, too!! ;-)
"It just doesn't hold water to say that the reason someone showed up for filming was because it was a journalistic duty to report to the world how TLC operates."
I never said that. I just said it wasn't stalking for an onlooker to view filming of a production. In this case, the onlooker even had permission from the owner of the property.
As to who benefits from non intrusive eye-witness accounts; any reader of a blog such as this one. The more that people realize the kids aren't just being filmed having fun playing, the better. The more that they realize the kids are actually being forced, the sooner it might end.
I for one did not know until I read WG's account, that the kids were not allowed ANY time on their own to explore the maze and that these filmed events are 100% devoid of spontaneous, real fun for the kids.
That was pretty shocking to me.
Hmmm...checked the TLC schedule for Nov. 14th.
19 Kids and Counting is the lead-in show with the episode, "GrandDuggar's First Birthday".
Then, Sarah Palin's "Mamma Grizzly" premieres with no mention of Kate Gosselin or camping in the following description:
"Sarah escapes her busy schedule to spend quality time with her youngest daughter, Piper. Together with husband, Todd, they go salmon fishing in bear country. Later, Sarah and Todd climb one of Denali's most challenging peaks."
HOWEVER, there is an unscheduled 10pm slot following Palin's premiere. Is this when the Kate Plus 8 Halloween special will air?

I, along with most who disagree with the Gosselin show, know the shows are scripted, but I agree with another poster in saying that I would have NEVER dreamed that the kids would have been given no time at the maze for their own exploration and enjoyment and that they were shuffled back to the car as soon as the filming was done without reading WG's report.
More first hand accounts of filming this show is needed for the sheeple public to understand the true meaning of 'scripted' reality and how these kids are working, 'acting' like kids who are playing and having fun.
Anonymous,
If the sheeple were normal people, yes, I would agree with this. The sheeple can read an account (well, most of them can, anyway); they can see photos, but they are not capable of comprehension on any level. That's my point -- you can show them examples of the a scripted filming, but it's not going to mean anything to them because they see what they want to see. That's the nature of the beast.

Why would the business turn away the paps? Oh I don't know, because it's disgusting and creepy to chase down 10 kids under ten with your camera lens? But I guess everyone who enters their lives is just seeking to make a buck, not actually do what is in their best interest.

Play errr...'work permits' were valid 4/20/10 through 10/20/10. Maybe that's what's in the folder if not a script?
This is a frakkin' brilliant set of pictures because you see exactly what surrounds those little ones. And the little bits do NOT look happy to see that stuff.
Now if They Who Must Not Be Named can grow enough empathy to put themselves in the place of their beloved 8...
