Kate’s Night Out 6/6/11: Discussion Thread

Is Kate’s night on the town with Jamie the ultimate in selling out? Is this behavior appropriate for a family show? Perhaps getting a foot-licking is Kate’s new and improved idea of making memories. Will her own fans not want to watch this with their kids? And if this is a family show, why is it on at 10 o’clock at night? Discuss here.

Any chance of you jotting down the 'extras' names so that we can IMDB their resumes? I can't imagine that they weren't paid actors.

prairiemary said... 3

Oh, now I see why this one is advertised as PG, will be very interesting to see what kind of spin the sheeple will put on for the foot-licking! I am waiting, mostly patiently, for Admin. to do her awesome recap, while I enjoy my fresh rhubarb crisp, with a big glass of milk, watching the game between Boston and Vancouver.

Pixie said... 4

So much for her twitter fans being 'loyal'... Kate cancels at the last minute her 'live' tweeting during her show! Hope there aren't any suicides tonite.

But she LOVES them all! said... 5

Well it will have to be just us discussing it because Kate just stood her tweeties up again. Poor sheeple who rearranged their entire lives so they could twitter away the evening with their idol. Then she dumps on them AGAIN.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 6

Why can't she just tweet from her phone? She has seen her own show right? Surely she can answer questions about something she lived.

Sharon said... 7

Fans punked again, way to go Kate. They are all making excuses for her, it's hilarious. I'm following on Twassup.

Sorry, I meant Twazzup..oops

Fired Up is already asking Kate if she should fast forward through the foot licking part. How dare she question Kate. After all she IS her
#1 twit.

For all of Kate's publicity rounds today, this must be her Hail Mary.

And.....imagine that-she couldn't make it home to have her tweet party with her minions. How many times has she stood them up now? Keep drinkin' that kool-aid Klovers!

This is one recap I cannot wait for!

Kate's tweet:
Well I got hungup in NYC&will notbhome inX2 watch/live tweet tonightas I had planned!Darn it!I wanted2read all the shrieks from u gd/bad lol

Uh oh...

Looks like Kate got stuck in NY and will have to back-out of her plans to live tweet with her fans tonight. How will the sheeple cope?

Seriously, she's mentioned before that she previews the episodes before they air. She might not get the TLC channel at her hotel, but she can still answer questions and respond to people's comments. What happened to being a "contract honorer"?

Kate cannot even support her own show, backing-out of plans to live tweet during the telecast.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 13

I don't think tlc trusts her to twitter away these episodes unsupervised. She might accidentally reveal an extra licked her foot. Every week there's some excuse why she can't twitter. She's beginning to sound like us and our magical remotes that change to tlc! Tee hee.

prairiemary said... 14

Lucky you, batterednotbroken,I am Canadian, too, better to be watching real wolfpack, than watching Vancouver losing 4-zip:(
Or worse yet, another loser kate show:)

fidosmommy said... 15

Not watching. It should be half over by now and I'm watching something else that is not remotely resembling Kate or Jamie or dancing in NYC. What a very pleasant evening I've had.

Laurie said... 16

Color me as another who is not watching. I'm in AZ and her show is running against Master Chef. I'm sorry but Gordon Ramsey wins hands down!

Ingrid said... 17

Watching Extreme Makeover:Weight loss (hoping to be inspired- lol) Would have preferred Gordon but missed that on the guide. Rats!

Anonymous said... 18

She is UNAPPEALING. Thought of watching anyone licking anyone's foot is REVOLTING. No TLC in our house.
Betcha she pulled a bitchfest to stay overnight in NYC because "all those phone interviews tired her out." Gonna squeeze every comp she can get while she still can.

I haven't seen it yet but I did see in the preview ALLL the colorful birthday decorations all over the downstairs for Kate. Seriously, how old is she? Four?

I can, sort of, understand this kind of fanfare for a big birthday like maybe 30 or 40. But just another 30-something bday? It's just yet another it's all about me, it's my birthday-it's my birthday, this day is all for me day. Most women at this age are completely happy with just a nice supper out with their husband and maybe some friends and don't require this kind of ubiquitous attention. In fact I don't see most women even really mentioning their birthdays or really WANT the attention. But hey it's Kate.

Her own kids are starting to surpass her stunted maturity.

Troy Chula Vista said... 20

Well Admin, so much for doing the happy dance on Z, she's baccccck. Of course right away her first comment is bass ackwards in logical thinking. The sheeple see it as: Jon finally doing right and behaving. Kate didnt say a bad thing at all today (in sheep eyes).

Posted my last comment on the old post.

Why are these seven year old children still sitting in highchairs?

Happy to say that I'm enjoying a Kate free night.

Reading magazines on my Nook reading pad (and writing this message on it too).

TLC/Kate are going to go insane trying to revamp the damn show.
It will not surprise me if they film a very special episode of Kate and a date in her Jacuzzi.... Or a very special episode of Kate learning how to pole dance....

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 23

Oh you're right good grief she's baccck. She couldn't even stay away from worshiping Kate for 24 hours! Hey at least the post libeling me is gone and if she decides to upload it again I WILL file a cease and desist this time.

Kate said nothing wrong about Jon? That's a good one. She basically acted like he was an 8-year-old boy who is finally realizing how not to pick his boogers in public. Good job, Jonny, you are doing so much better now!

Here's a thought. If Kate just said I don't discuss my children's father publicly other than to wish him the best, every time she was asked? There would be no parental alienation accusations to worry about now would there!

Count me as another who didnt watch- my RL (that would be sheeple speak for real life- LOL) got in the way, oh darn, and I shampooed my carpets getting ready for the delivery of my new furniture tomorrow- to replace my LEATHER couch, with nice comfy fabric furniture- crazy, I know :D

Anyway- Admin was right about the whole b-day decorations for Kate- I am late 30's also and you know what? I avoid my b-day like the plague- no reminders for me thank you! Although I dont mind a piece of cake - just skip those blasted candles. Kate is an attention whore.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 25

I think the last time someone hung an actual decoration for my birthday was my dorm room sophomore year. Seriously, we're big boys and girls now. While it's wonderful to have friends and family remember your birthday and do something special, and to do the same for them when it's their bday, you don't need a clown doing magic tricks and a pink Barbie cake anymore. Be an adult for pity sake.

For big birthdays, fine, go all out. But they only happen once every 10 years.

I was flipping the channels and caught a little of the end. Jamie seems so tacky and low class! Khate told Jamie that next time she needs to invite 25 men to the house- oh- you mean like they do on the Bachelorette? Anyway, she seemed much closer to Jamie on the couch then she ever did with Jon! Just the little bit that I saw was soooo staged! And when she came into the house on her surprise birthday- she barely reacted to those kids. Geesh- I loathe this "woman"

An episode including - YOU MUST BE KIDDING ME! - TOE LICKING? Come on, not even Ms. Kreider would be this disgusting.
EWWWWWWW!
I would rather watch someone clean out a refrigerator that has not been opened in years. Which leads to...

Off topic: I got to meet Matt Paxton on Saturday, an "extrene cleaner" who is on A&E's Hoarders. he has written a book and was at local Barnes &Noble - he lives in central Virginia. He is really NICE! and GRATEFUL to fans for their support. He specializes in helping hoarders because he really cares. His grandmother and mother were there, and his grandmother told me "He has a good heart." He proudly posed for a photo with his grandmother and me! He had a line out the door with minimal advertising and PR. That is the kind of "reality star" I want to watch!

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 28

I'm not just talking about the decorations, I'm talking about the trip to NYC and the clubbing and makeovers.

She is 36, not 21.

Yes, this is my experience with all women I know. I guess I just don't hang out with narcissists who make a big deal out of their 36th birthday. I guess we prefer to save it for the kiddos in our lives, the 10th bday and 4th and 13th and all the fun ones like that.

Please, don't tell us you were flipping channels and you just so happened to come across the show. Give us some credit here. We're adults, we don't flip channels in this day and age. We have over 600 channels to flip through. You're flipping through nearly 600 channels and locking in on Kates show is about as lucky as picking lotto numbers and just by chance, picking the right one.

The point here is NOT watching and your "flipping" channels and finding the show is way to coincidental. Please learn how to work the remote. If this were 1969, I'd give you the benefit of the doubt. There were only 4 channels to flip through. Today, I'm not buying it.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 31

Regarding Kate claiming Jon only wants four days, regardless whether that is true or not, and come on it's Kate if her mouth is moving she is lying, she refuses to acknowledge that she SET HIM UP.

She made outrageous child support demands on him, on the order of 20,000 a month. He HAD to seek out a high paying job with long hours to not only meet those demands, but also afford a place where his kids can be somewhat comfortable when they do visit. And all while doing this without resorting to pimping the kids. IF he had the kids more often on top of it all he would also have to pay high day care bills. She set him up to make it almost impossible to try to seek out full custody. If that's even true maybe he doesn't want the kids because he knows they will have to stay in a cheap farm daycare. If they are with Kate they are with their one-on-one nannies in the comfort of her own home. Kate is refusing to even acknowledge this might be a decision made by him in the best interest of the KIDS and not his own personal selfish desires. The hardest thing a parent has to do is make a decision contrary to what they want because it's best for the kids. Kate couldn't even begin to understand that.

Easy for Kate to make money and paint Jon as the deadbeat, she just pimps the kids and it's as simple as that for her to roll in the dough.

More on the Showbiz tonight interview. A.J. posed a question from Facebook as to how Kate was going to help her children adjust to life after the show...no travel, etc. Kate's reply? The film crew will always be there even after the filming stops...extended family. She actually said that there will be no adjustment issues. A.J. did say the "inevitable" end of the show. I don't think Kate was expecting this type of interview.

so sick of her said... 33

Ok, was reading some of the articles, on Kates several interviews and one said that Kate said that being 40 is elderly. And she was on HLN s entertainment news, and they asked her about Reese Weatherspoon comment on reality TV, Geez is Kate practicing for meditation, every sentence had a UM in it. That is so annoying. She can't speak a sentence with out saying UM in it. She bashed Jon again. Saying that he has his parenting style and she has his and she does not agree on his style, that he like an opposite. We are like 2 different people. After I heard the answer to the Reese thing I had to change channels, could not stand to listen to Kate BS. I did not watch, I watched Footloose.

Kelly- I was indeed flipping through the channels. I always flip through the channels! Really- It drives my husband crazy. I always have the remote in my hand! The show I was watching was over so I flipped the channels. I am guilty of seeing the last five minutes of the show out of curiosity. Also, I don't have 600 channels! Believe me- I did not watch the entire show. I stayed on TLC to see the end of the show because I couldn't believe what I was seeing and how Khate and Jamie were acting. I never said it was a coincidence that I came across the channel- that is your interpertation. I said I was flipping through the channels and that's when I saw the end of the show. I figured at that time- even though I'm not a Nielson family- I didn't think they would count the last 5 minutes of my viewing! So- I am an adult who constantly flips through the channels- and so does my 18 year old son. And- I still loathe this "woman"

I'm not trying to flame you and I feel bad that you needed to respond with an explanation. That's not my style. I've been rather vocal and perhaps, over the top on my postings on her twitter page. Last night, I implored anyone to NOT watch the show, boycott all the advertisers on TLC and not only on Kates show.

I'm sorry for calling you out in such a public manner and my intent was out of frustration and not for anything else. My focus has been to discourage anyone from watching this show and this network. Although I'll stand by my statement about having 600 channels and by chance, finding Kates show, my intention wasn't to call you out but to say that we have so much choice, landing on Kates channel is a relative fluke. Thanks for your response.

I'm a flipper and I'm an adult. I know it's not 1969, although sometimes I wish that it were. I do not have over 600 channels - not even remotely (pun intended) close to that. Last time I checked, there were less than 100 channels on there, and some of those were for "subscribers only." I drive everyone nuts with my flipping. The remote is always in my hand. I did not, however, flip to TLC tonight because I was watching Pawn Stars, one of the few reality shows that I do watch.

Am flipping right now, and there's absolutely NOTHING worth watching. The Kate Lick Fest is being re-run at 1. I think I'll pass.

A MILF is a very hot looking middle aged woman, pre cougar, dresses well, exudes sexual tension but is still unattainable. A MILF is every guys dream from college graduation to retirement. Kate doesn't have the mojo to fit that category. Trust me on this.

Kelly- no problem! I'm incredibly outspoken and I appreciate people like you. I had to repond to set the record straight- and please don't feel bad about that. I didn't communicate my point as well as I should have!Really- I only have about 60 channels- that doesn't include the same channels in HD. I admit- I was somewhat curious and that's why when the channel got to TLC and I saw Jamie and Khate on the couch and how they were acting, I stayed on it. I know- my bad because I loathe Khate and I want her off TV. It's a shame that TLC has forced this "woman" down our throats and created this throw Jon under the bus thing to make her more famous. I believe all that was staged and I can't believe how the tabloids and tabloid shows have been on her side. TLC does have a good show in The Little Couple. Jen Arnold is a true inspiration for little people. She's a doctor and she has proven that she hasn't let perceived obstacles get in her way. She should be the one making the talk show rounds. She's also very intelligent and well-spoken. She's the complete opposite of Khate! Anyway, thanks for your response as well. It's all good!

Are the tups really still in those highchairs at 7 years of age?! I couldn't give a crap about what Kate is wearing or who she is doing, outside of how it affects her kids directly, ie embarrassment and a bad role model. There are plenty of great parents out there who have horrible personal lives when it comes to sex and relationships. Obviously Kate isn't one of them, but I still think spending 75% of the time harping on whether or not she is sleeping with Jamie or Steve or Todd Palin in no way helps the kids. It wasn't money or fame that made her a horrible and abusive parent. That is what she's been all along.

Well, um, like she doesn't think so, there's good and bad reality shows and she's just doing her thing and it's all good and excuse me my face is breaking!!!! Nice opportunity to stand for something, to mention values (wish she had some) and say she tries to set good example, monitors cell phone and picture use and will do so more as they grow older, and will see that they don't dress suggestively (like she herself does) etc. She could at least pretend to be a decent person. But that thought never enters her head.

This did seem creepy so I looked at his profile. This guy-Bucktooth2010-tweets Paris Hilton, Kirstie Alley, and many other hot female stars. He looks like a total starstruck type stalker. I clicked on his blog link that is in his twitter profile and it brought me to another site called "My Daily Bitch", where he talks of suicide and putting a gun to his head and a lot of cuss words. I also noticed his tweet history that Kate has replied to him quite a few times. I'm certain she's not aware of his freakiness. People like that are what give others a bad perception of others that are on the internet. Hopefully someone that's not blocked will get a message through to Kate that this one is bad news too.
What guys have not been bad news? The pedophile, the guy saying she is a little spinner, now this guy? Elvis and Iwanna are the only 2 decent guys that tweet her besides some tweenie kid named Austin.
The diva said in her interviews she hasn't met anyone yet. Funniest statement of her day. Who does she think would want baggage of 8 kids and her awsome-ish attitude? Good luck Kate. We don't have to worry about TLC getting the shows ratings back up by it becoming a normal show again with a man and a woman taking on the daily lives of 8 kids. Just Kate running around pretending she does it all by herself and is a mega-mom. I was a little bit worried that TLC was going to try to open up a new interest and get Kate back with a respectable man, but after seeing some of the interviews and clips from tonights show, it looks like there is ZERO chance of the show being saved. 3 shows left, then its all gone. YaYaYa.

Pixie said... 49

I believe the entire reason Cara was crying when Kate left for NYC with Jamie was not because she was going to 'miss' her mom like Kate tried to imply. It was because Cara wanted to go with her. These kids are conditioned to want free! fun! trips alllll the time. Cara was jealous plain and simple. Kate made the innuendo that she was upset because she 'hates' when her mom goes away. Bullshit.

It looks to me like this is TLC feeling the audience out for a Kate dating show. Even though Kate has said publicly that she would never do a dating show I think reality has set in and she has become desperate. Her whole idea of being on a talk show went down the drain. It looks like Twist of Kate is a goner. I've thought for awhile that the only thing that might save Kate is to bring a man into the picture. It's dreadful though that once again this is all being done at the expense of her kids. How embarrassing for them to have their mother on tv having her feet licked by a stranger. Kate's desperate attempt to stay relevant and in front of the cameras is sickening. She's come a long, long way from speaking at churches and thanking God for her blessings. Just like I predicted Kate hasn't Tweeted about going to church on a Sunday since her one token Sunday when she went to shut up all the Tweets asking her if she still went to church. The woman is so damn obvious it's laughable. Intelligent people with an agenda would keep going week after week. Not Kate, she really takes her fans as stupid and they truly are. Kate's original fan base was Christian mother's and some are still trying to hang on and give her the benefit of the doubt. Last night on Twitter though I saw several of them questioning what she was doing on last nights show. More than a few didn't approve. Kate's new fan base is quickly becoming horny men. One male on Twitter even suggested she "might need a spanking". If this is what Kate is turning her show into my heart aches for those kids. Kate is becoming desperate to do anything to keep the money rolling in. Next she'll be posing for Playboy. Thank God for Jon. I really believe him when he says preparing a life for the kids when all of this comes tumbling down.

Well folks, looks like any celebrations about Kate not slamming Jon in this recent round of interviews is a bit premature. Just got nauseated reading her interview with Perez Hilton. Some of the awful(rather backhanded of course) statements about Jon include:"we've had friendly kid focused conversations that don't end up in him screaming and yelling at me so that's good" Poor Kate, she was verbally abused by Jon, who knew? The whole vile interview, as predictable as one of her shows, can be read here:http://perezhilton.com/2011-06-06-kate-plus-eight-returns-perez-hilton-interviews-kate-gosselin

I didn't watch the show. My boyfriend was flipping through channels in the other room and yelled to tell me the show was on. I screamed for him to change the channel immediately, so he only had it on TLC for 20 seconds max. Will that count? I hope not, because I've boycotted TLC altogether. I won't watch ANY TLC programs until K+8 is gone forever.
Changing the subject, are you seriously telling me that those kids are STILL using high chairs? What is wrong with this woman? When I was 7 years old I was helping my mom cook dinner, setting the table, putting the dishes in the dishwasher, wiping the table, etc. She is doing emotional damage that can't be undone to these children by continuing to treat them like babies. The last time I watched the show the kids acted so silly and immature during the couch interviews that I couldn't believe it. They actually acted like they were maybe 3 years old and they were probably 5 or 6 years old then. I would love to see how they act at school with their peers and without Kate around. I also think it's ironic that she still treats the tups like babies, but she didn't treat Mady/Cara like that at all. I wonder why?

I saw the Showbiz with A.J. She was very tense and uptight and irritated. There was someone else on between her and they were laughing and talking and having a ball. Khate in contrast looked like a cardboard cut out. A.J. didn't cut her any slack. He kept asking about her and Jon and she was zero percent no, gross, the divorce was the best decision I ever made for ME, and that is all she cares about. And the crew will always be part of their lives, A.J. did all but roll eyes at that one. Yeah of course they will - until they start filming the hew full set that just got born. A.J. said the board lit up when they found out she was coming on and he wanted her to answer some of the questions from Twitter and facebook and none of them were happy thoughts. It was not a fun night for her on Showbiz. And of course the pat practiced subliminal Jon's a bad dad deal. Yeah right - nobody believes her, except for a few little twitter teens. Hope their moms let them stay up to watch the show.

More re: Kate's Showbiz interview (my first post didnt' make it through). Kate looked very uncomfortable and not pleased with the questions she was being asked. AJ didn't fawn over her and asked some good questions such as would Jon and Kate ever get back together. Kate's high-road answer? Zero percent chance. She actually said that it freaked her out when she A.J. raising the question in the previews. How nice for the kids. She also said that she didn't support Jon's goals and choices. A.J. also asked her a question from the show's Facebook contributors as to how she would help her kids adjust to life after the show ended. Her stock answer...the film crew will continue to be there after filming stops...extended family. She said she knows that. She said that her kids will have no adjustment issues! She really is inarticulate with her vague, convaluted responses to questions. She's not the great communicator she professes to be. She only smiled at the end when he asked her if she planned on running a marathon. Up to that point she looked quite grim. It's interesting that she didn't tweet that she had that interview, considering it was CNN. I don't think she liked the questions at all. Way to go, A.J.!

Yes, I'm sure Kate's kids will be very proud of their mother when they see this episode (and they will see it - sooner or later). From the foot licking, to the dress that barely covered her pubes, to the drinking, to the talk of hangovers...great job Kate. As to her 'brand'? No clue what it might be, but for certain the all-American family gal, mommy extraordinaire isn't her style anymore. And what's wrong with Cara? That little girl clearly needs something she's not getting. Very sad.

Pennsy said... 58

I did watch the last 15 min. Kate was drinking by then and her dress was so short, so when she sat down, she looked like she has short/shorts on. So when that "older man" lifted her foot to get a "lick" of her foot, not her toes, he had to get quite a view.

With a bit of alcohol under her belt and Jamie also can hit the bottle, more so than Kate, if that is possible. They were enjoying themselves and you see a totally different Kate. Someone, you almost want to like. She was uncomfortable, honestly, but having a good time. I don't doubt the guys were hired, but they were in their early 50s, even though Kate had been approached by some 20 somethings at one point.

You know, if we ever saw the real Kate, without Jon, without working the kids, etc., and she had gotten a job as just a woman with 8 children, kept those kids off of TV instead of dragging them everywhere, having all of her family business out there and in everyone's face, I think we all would have liked her, but she cannot stop talking about Jon, using the kids and that is all very sad. Why? Because by herself, now in her late 30s, attractive and funny when drinking, she could have had a local show that women would have liked, but her lying, her cheating, her using her family, well, she did herself in.

I don't doubt she worked hard to get her body to look so great and she does look great, but at 36 she is re living her teens in that bar.

All very sad, honestly. Somehow I don't understand how Kate had to "undress" Jamie, because Jaimie does not know how she got into bed or even got her shoes off? Yet they had coffee in bed together like a pajama party between 2 teen age girls?

Someone said Jamie is a personal trainer? She really is shaped like Sponge Bob but she is funny and really likes to drink and "mix it up"

Oh well, beat me, flog me, but I do not have a Nielson Box in my house nor do I use the cables, so I doubt my last 15 min counted as anything.

Another thing is the kids were happy with Ashley and everything was cleaned up and all the kids, divided up and made 2 cakes for Kate's birthday. I kind of think they do like being in their own house, not crowded. Remember these kids have been born into wealth, nice homes, nice clothes and it is probably more comfortable than being in Dad's little apartment. I believe they wish their parents were together but I also believe their lives are more peaceful without Mom and Dad fighting. I do believe that and they do not have the constant anger of both parents.

No, I'm not in favor of her show staying on the air with the kids. I would like to see her get a show, after training, to be drinking thru her show, so her mood is good.

I find the term MILF very degrading. Just last week, my son & I were walking my dog as we do most nights after dinner & a car full of 20-somethings drove by & yelled "Hey MILF...woo!" & wolf-whistled me. Now, the wolf whistle, OK, I'll admit flattered me. But first of all, I'm only 35, do I even count as a MILF? But what really PISSED me off is that my son asked me what as MILF was & I made up some lame thing. I told him a MILF was Mom Is Looking Foxy. So he said, "Well, that was nice of them!" & all I could think of was "Why couldn't I come up w/ something even better??" I was so put on the spot. Some women may like that, but I didn't appreciate it, especially in front of my son. Again, wolf whistles are acceptable. :) And uh...Kate is no MILF, the true version, nor mine!

OK< I taped the rerun and just watched it. What a waste of time. Scenes of kids being monkeys spliced in and out of Kate and Jamie being donkeys. The kid scenes weren't even all that cute... kids throwing crap at each other, Ashley squirting crap at/on the kids, kids making random messes with random crap. I still have no idea why that dude licked Kate's leg, and he looked like he wanted to wipe his tongue off when he was done. The whole thing was not put together professionally; too many clips spliced together without much continuity. In the end, when Kate supposedly came home to the kids' "surprise" birthday party for her, it was obviously staged and phony. Looked at the credits for names of the actors who portrayed the guys at the club, but there weren't any.
IMO, Jamie's personality is nearly as abrasive as Kate's.

After hearing so much about this episode, I was wondering...what IS Kate's "brand?"
=======================
Yeah. Hard to mesh a drunk being licked on by another drunk with the brand of Christian uptight but loving mother of eight. And yet her fans who are acting like co-dependents in a bad relationship are able to excuse, justify and accept any and all outrageous behavior by the one and only KATE GOSSELIN. Even when that one and only becomes someone else.

Would say the brand has morphed. From loving OCD mother doing her best, to MILF looking her best. But it seems to be just fine with the fans. She grabbed almost 500 new twitter followers with the licking clip. Don't know the ratings but am willing to bet they are higher than last time's. Hope not high enough but the college (and unfortunately high school) boys who wouldn't be caught dead watching a family show probably had their tissues out watching the licking over and over. But as someone else said: She will do whatever is necessary to keep those $$$s rolling in.

Didn't read the comments yet but I saw on the repeat episode that the kids were eating raw cake batter. Salmonella!

What a waste of toilet paper.

I also saw that they filmed or edited it out of sequence because Ashley's clothing kept changing and you can see the cards already made on the counter when Ashley is talking before they showed the kids making them.

I also noticed that when the kids were done eating some threw out the small remainders on their plates in the garbage and others who had a lot more leftover actually put their leftovers back in two big bowls on the table! Once food is eaten on a plate there are germs and bacteria from the fork and the leftovers should be thrown away not combined together in a large bowl to be eaten again.

Where was Mady the first day when the kids were making the mess? Did she refuse to film? She was there the next day to bake cakes.

I don't think she's a likable person with or without a show. She's a NARCISSIST, the show didn't make her that way. She's always been that way, controlling, lacking empathy, selfish, inflexible, conniving, cruel, uneducated and boring.

I didn't watch last night and won't watch a rerun. It disturbs me to some extent to see some people can't contain their curiosity enough and have to "peek" although I doubt that's the full story.

I have been watching since the beginning...shoot me. It is entertainment...yes, at the expense of the kids, but it is what it is.

I have never been more shocked by an episode. TLC is taking Kate in a new direction clearly. I personally think it is a terrible example for a Mom, particularly a divorced Mom with young children do got out to a bar and get drunk. Specifically if said Mom is going to be on TV getting drunk.

Cara is to my observation a wreck. She appears to be hitting puberty, and with everything going on in her young life, she appeared to be unraveling at Kate's leaving. Her response was NOT age appropriate and none of the other kid's behaved this way.

Mady seems non-affected.

Who knows, TLC may have said they only wanted to film the 6 being hellions. Cara was outside with them, but I didn't see Mady.

Kate and Jamie-made me very uncomfortable. Jamie just got married and she is out in the club hitting on men????

The whole in bed together scene was weird, Kate holdings Jamie's hand in the limo back to the hotel weider...the couch interview, WEIDEST!

This show has jumped the shark to try and get people's attention, and it may just have done it. Watch Kate be a skank and hook up may just be where it is going.

And she needs to switch makeup or get a different skin cleanser...her skin is a bumpy messssss!

EWWW factor for this show 100%

TLC success!

Today, I'm not buying it
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could never say it any better, Kelly and Loath! all of this "I accidently watched" is silly. And for all those who think their digital tuners, whether cable or dish, arent recording their EVERY CLICK, it is time to step out of those 1960's.

Nielson measures demographics; your 'converter' box monitors your clicks and the exact timing of them. How else do they know in only 2 episodes to pull off some shows? or only 6 showings of a particular commercial that people are changing channels away during that commericial? Your clicks are counted and measured, including your DVR, albeit all anonymously. They dont know your demographics,(your age, income, gender etc). I am related to someone in the advertising industry and they have your clicks tallied within an hour. They will be able to tell that no one clicked off during some kind of foot licking, so they will know the stunt did NOT drive away viewers.

Does anyone recall an episode of Star Trek Next Gen, where there was a game that was addictive? They pried your eyeballs open and zapped some beams from the game through your eyeballs into your brain. Is that what is happening here? Is someone prying our eyeballs open and physically restraining us in a dark room with only TLC TVs blasting at us from 4 walls and the ceiling?

"Accidental viewing" harms the children. Plain And Simple.

Just watched the Access Hollywood video. She is despicable. Why can't she keep her mouth SHUT about Jon. He is not her husband anymore, but he is the father of her 8 children. She says he ACTUALLY has a job now, but she is not sure what he does. RIGHT! I know what he does and I live in another country! He is TRYING to provide a nice place for them to stay. He only takes them 4 days a week, that is all he wants them. She is an ASS. I don't know all the details from the divorce and custody arrangement, but I am sure Kate got exactly what she wanted and now she is blaming Jon that he doesn't take the kids more often. Tired of the little money bags hanging around the house with you Kate!!! Going to be a looooong summer with 8 kids to entertain on your own. That fabulous Pool will get old and boring soon. What WORK does she do? Really? All she does is sit around all day waiting for TLC to phone/text her and tell her what to do next. I would hardly call what she does WORK! Especially, since she couldn't make a dime if she doesn't involve her kids. She makes me sick! SICK, SICK, SICK!!!

To me, the worst part (other than the foot licking) is when they captioned Kate's conversation with some guy at the bar. She's talking about Jon, saying he isn't the same person any more, how hard it is for her. The conversation is fine -- that's how she feels and she's free to discuss it with anyone -- but privately. Having those private, negative thoughts about the children's father broadcast to the world is wrong on so many levels. I don't know if she has control over the content of what airs. If she does, shame on her. Either way, shame on TLC.

Vanessa said... 74

Betcha Jon never got to put his tongue on any part of that ice-queen's body!
And her OCDishness would never allow her to let a TOTAL STRANGER LICK HER FOOT! Howie Mandel always does the fist-tap because he cannot shake hands, one of the MANY symptoms he has, his list is long and specific; and does not change when it suits the situation.

Poor, poor Kate. Jon isn't the same person who is willing to be treated like crap by Kate. It's so hard when you no longer have a husband who is willing to be treated like dirt under your feet, bring you your coffee in bed, get the kids up and off to school, do all the childcare the minute he returns from work after you've had the kids napping for six hours, and sit by passively while you complain about his hair line, waist line, breathing, inability to properly shop, pretty much his inability to do anything properly.

Yes, Kate - he's not the same person anymore. He grew a spine and developed some self-esteen. You can't tolerate such behavior in a man.

The weirdness of the leg-licking scene is explained by her tweets:

RT @jandess @Kateplusmy8 what r u usingon ur legs4sheen?Lookinggd,tan&toned 2day! Ans:Nars leg shine.Thx Deanna(best makeup artist/fr ever!)

It was product placement. Which I actually think is wonderful. Kate actually supported herself in that scene, earned her own money. If Kate can get a gig doing a slightly off-colour PG-rated reality show without her kids, fantastic! There certainly seems to be a market for raunchy reality shows. Maybe she could even get into the soft porn market (there are undoubtedly people out there with weird fantasies who would enjoy what she has to offer). The important thing is that she find a way to support herself on her own - without the kids' help. I understand from the comments here that the shots of her night out with her friend were interspersed with video of the kids. But I think that's just because they're still on the fence about what direction they're going to take things in, still testing the waters to see whether Kate is ready to cut the apron strings and stand on her own two feet. The message TLC needs to hear is: "Sure, do whatever you want with Kate, just don't show us the kids anymore. We don't want to see them."

Not an umm, a grimace, etc. Clearly you can have a reality show about a family without pathos and drama. And it's not the J+K divorce - Kate was a trainwreck waiting to happen. Good luck with that family business and your 8 messed up kids.

And if drunk in a bar is TLC's new version of parental family values, good luck to them too. That is disgusting and exploitative on so many levels.

That was only half of it.

In all honesty (Kate's words), I was very surprised and disappointed when I read those tweets, especially after he, last night, called another poster out for flipping channels and watching the last five minutes of the show, saying that "we're adults." Those tweets do not represent adult behavior, and certainly is not condoned by any adults that I know, and certainly not on this blog.

Ever heard or read the phrase "Viral video" or "Video gone viral"? Basically that means that so many people are clicking on a clip to watch it, that some powers-that-be have noticed all the attention. While it may not directly impact the 'ratings', it DOES indicate to Disc Inc and advertisers that Kate and her children are a major interest. They figure all they have to do is keep tweaking to redirect the obvious public interest over to the show where the commercials are.

Watching clips or entire shows online is indeed counted as interest in Kate that you are willing to pay money out of your pocket for. The clicks count.

Anyone who can stomach watching even a clip of her is stronger than I am. It is anyone's right to watch what he/she wants, but it's a bit hypocritical to state in one breath "I only watched the rerun, but I hope to god the ratings are way down!" This is just a wild example, I'm not referring to any comments on this blog.

I care too much about these innocent kids, whom I don't even know, to support Kate in any way. For me it's no Twitter, Youtube, sheeple blogs...nothing. Too busy watching HLN's reviews of the Casey Anthony (another narcissist) trial.

Kate was tied-up in NYC so she couldn't tweet?
I did not realize that they don't have the internet in NYC...I'm surprised. :D

When my sons were 7, they were going into 2nd grade and would not have been caught dead in a high-chair. They would have looked at me like I'd lost my mind. It's beyond ridiculous.

I don't know if anyone remembers, but a few weeks ago I had written a post here saying that once the children were no longer her little paychecks....Kate would be trying to get Jon to take them more and more...complaining bitterly if he didn't.

I can't really figure out why Kate is doing this already.....and had expected it a little later when they were off TV...but I have seen this happen a number of times with people I know. I'm going to bet that Jon is refusing to engage her and it's the smartest thing to do when dealing with a vindictive, angry ex-spouse....totally refuse to engage...refuse to fight and argue...just cut the person off when being goaded into fights. Once the ex-spouse realizes that you can't be goaded into getting emotional over seeing your own children...he/she will lose interest in that angle and start complaining that you hardly see the kids.

Plus.... it's really better for the kids in the long run when arguing and fighting is kept to a minimum.
Kudos to Jon....he is clearly handling this the right way, IMO.

Tucker's Mom said... 105

Watching the show for a ocuple years, I know he loves, loves his kids and always had good interactions (except in 2009 when fame got to his head and he spent more time texting and working the fence than he did playing with the kids).
That said, Kate is really throwing down the gauntlet. She is provoking and goading Jon to react, and I hope he stays the course and remains silent. To engage Kate and her anger will do nothing positive for the kids. It takes a mature and secure person to know the truth, yourself, and not need validation externally like Kate constantly does. She just NEEDS to be pitied and put upon.

Totally agree. He's being very wise. What she wants is a response from him, so she can continue to grab interviews and fight back, crying about his lack of participation in the kids' lives. He's not giving her that chance! If he ignores her and doesn't respond, she can't keep this alive in the media. Who is she going to argue with - herself?

Kate apparently will do anything to stay relevent and does not mind being led around by the nose like a bull.

Kate can keep the Jon controversy alive in the media as long as there's media that will have her. She doesn't mind in the least lying about Jon.

Ingrid said... 110

I wonder if she is complaining more about Jon not having the kids more often because she knows she can't shove them off to school for most of the day til school starts again and doesn't have trips planned for filming so she can foist them off on the camera crew daddies or leave them for her special TLC funded trips with the boobyguard.

As for still trying to wake up: She always says she is exhausted/tired at home. She didn't mention being tired yesterday while doing all that crap in NYC.

I can't see Kate running a business. She wouldn't be able to keep hired help. I wonder if she is picturing a business selling high price stuff because of seeing what Bethenny and other celebs and "Housewives of..." do. Something to keep her in contact with the rich.

Speaking of Jon, I was just sitting here thinking… I wonder what the Kate fans would say if Jon were spotted getting his leg licked, or doing the licking. Good lord, I shudder to think of the hate they would throw his way. But their Queen can do no wrong, even on national TV.

Here we go with the pearl clutching again. If you are identifying so strongly with a PERFECT STRANGER's words to another PERFECT STRANGER that you are becoming embarrassed then I feel very sorry for you when you turn off the computer and join real life. You do not have to OWN anything anyone else does or says unless it is your child and that child is still under the age of seven.
If you have a need to be embarrassed by strangers' actions why not discuss Kate's throwing of her leg up to have some drunk lick around on it ON NATIONAL TELEVISION.

Now Bethany Frankel is a reality tv success story. She was culled into TRHONY by Jill Zarin, and has taken off like a rocket. *She* has the "IT" factor, unlike Kate.
Bethany is social, incredibly bright, well-spoken, has a smashing fashion sense and is gracious. She's also got a bit of an edge which makes watching her so unpredictable, and that keeps people tuning in.
Bethany recently sold her Skinny Girl cocktail business for millions!
How Baba Wawa thinks Kate has anything like Bethany is a mystery to me. It's NOT because I am adamantly against using children for grifting, fame and fortune, it's really not. It's because I objectively do not find Kate engaging, relatable or entertaining. She's awkward, cold, self-centered and a liar. Who needs that?
ps...here's hoping Bethany doesn't totally exploit her kid on her show...no potties, poopy diapers or baths, please.

It was totally by coincidence that at work, at two totally different times, years apart, there were two men who were dealing with really problematic ex-spouses regarding custody (and it happened to involve a young daughter each time...each had only one child). Now...I do know it takes two to tango...but over time (the first time), I began to realize that the ex-spouse was really being unnecessarily spiteful and vindictive...just yanking this guy's chain to play on his fear that she would take their daughter from him.

So I told him NO fighting, do NOT let her engage you, no matter what, only allow her to give you relevant info in a reasonable tone or cut her off. But ALWAYS let the child know you are there for her. And he did it...amazingly...and I say amazingly because not all that many people actually follow the advice given by friends and co-workers. :D

But it worked like magic...and I got to watch and evaluate. Years later...there was another guy at work going through the same thing...and I advised him the same way...only this time I had a successful example to give him....and it worked again.

In fact, it's amazing how well it works. It takes a certain type of person to put their own needs ahead of their own child(ren)....and these people will yank your chain as much as they can, no matter how much it hurts the children. And when they engage the other parent and provoke fights....this just hurts the children. And to cut-off every and any avenue they can use to get to you emotionally works miracles.

It's like taking your ball and going home. Refusing to play. Let the person stand there and yell at and threaten the wall.

With both these guys, the exes went from threatening them to take away their daughters...to bugging them to please take them more and more. And the daughters also did much better after the dynamic changed.

Because for the exes, it was not about the children at all....it was that the children were the best weapon they knew of to use to yank the other parents' chain with....the one thing they knew they could upset the other one over. And the more they upset them, the more they did it. Once you take all the fun out of it for them...take your ball and go home....they are suddenly alone there, stuck with their own children....who don't look all that alluring to them, especially when the other parent is off enjoying his/her own life.

It's kinda like reverse psychology, I guess....and probably a great technique to use with anyone who is yanking your chain over any emotionally-loaded issue.

What in the world kind of business would Kate come up with except to exploit her kids? She's been reading our comments. Did anyone catch the comment about continuing to travel when the show stops? Not as much, she indicated, but they would still travel. They love it soooooo.

Kate is jealous, especially of people she sees having something she doesn't have, but wants to have. This woman is a piece a work and TLC needs to move on to another subject. Let's be over it for good. She is hateful, unkind, cheap, mean spirited, selfish, and not over her grifting ways. Mark my words, she'll return to just that begging mentality whenever the show ends. It will end hopefully sooner rather than later. These interviews will not save her from cancellation. The interviews are just exposing her as entitled, special, conceited, and all about her/hers. Not pretty at all. No star quality.

You did figure that all the "feet/leg licking" stuff going around the blogosphere was gonna increase the numbers, didn't you? I'm sure every foot-fetishist tuned in (and there are more of them than you'd think...you should see how well the extra-large, well-worn women's shoes sell on Ebay).:D I kinda expected it. Heck, the divorce episode got 10 million viewers but it didn't last very long.

I agree with what the Administrator wrote....that this may be TLC trying to assess whether or not a dating show might work for Kate. I'd rather see her doing a dating show without the kids than seeing the kids continuing to be filmed for Kate plus 8.

Look, a little part of me (the emotional me) would love to see her fall flat on her face altogether (get what she deserves)....and then disappear from sight. But then the logical me figures that as long as the children aren't filmed, fine...AND that anything starring Kate won't last very long anyway. Many with much better personalities than she has didn't last very long on the various dating shows. I haven't seen Flava Flav around for ages, lol.

Meanwhile....after reading her twitter fans oohing and ahhing over Kate's salad and asking for ingredients/recipes, I FINALLY figured out who the people are who think Sandra Lee is a great cook. I couldn't figure out for the life of me who the heck loved her recipes...figured maybe it was alcoholics, due to all the booze included....so I'm glad I finally figured it out.

Tucker's Mom said... 132

Folks, calm down about the uptick in the numbers! Hey, isn't this good? It *seems* that TLC is floating a "Date Kate" test balloon and it's got interest. Let Kate get her own show. I say more power to her and more privacy and childhoods for the kids!
Look, the show will end when it ends. Getting your panties in a bunch because people tune in, "accidentally" or otherwise, is futile.
Take a chill and focus on what's important: passing laws that protect children in reality tv, after all, this site is Reality TV Kids, n'est-ce pas?

I'm surprised that others are surprised at the higher ratings. Chatter about the episode was rampant and remember it to a PG rating and someone licking Kate's leg to get it done.

Everyone who wants her off should go silent, me included. Chatter creates curiosity equals higher ratings. It's not rocket science. The writing was plainly on the wall yesterday.

The ratings will drop for the next 3 weeks, but ground was lost.

I'm sorry you don't see the connection between doing incredibly embarrassing things on national television on a show your children will see and your children's friends and classmates will see, knowing those kids will tease unmercifully about that embarrassing behavior, and being a less than protective parent.

Do I think it is horrible that a 36 year old divorced woman went to a bar, got drunk and allowed someone to lick her foot. No. It's her birthday, she doesn't drink enough to know her limit. I would cut her some slack. But THIS woman has put her children to work and stripped them of any privacy they ever had. She is the one who put them out there to be teased and shamed by her outrageous behavior. This woman conned church ladies out of their precious pennies by pretending to be pious but instead is proving to be a skank. We are appalled at her duplicity so we talk about it. But we are talking about her bad parenting, just maybe not as linearly as you want.

Wow, didn't watch the show last night, but am reading posts about the response to the actual show, people's response to twitter comments, Kate still bashing Jon in interviews (big surprise), and how to deal with a vindictive parent in a custody battle.

Don't know what the outcome of all this will be - ratings up or down? But do think that Kate is using every last resource possible to pour gas on the fire. And TLC is promoting this, as well. There is a smack of desperation from what I have been reading, whether it be Kate, TLC, or both.

Seems both Kate and TLC have been able to stir the pot, hoping for viewers, comments and attention, mine included. I am hoping Jon is astute enough not to respond for Kate's tactics. He has been through this so many times with her, and probably gets the fact that SHE looks bad disparaging the kids' father, as this will effect the kids, and they will not appreciate this public criticism by their own mother. This really is a private matter so Kate should have kept her mouth shut on this topic. Never mind she is trying to make herself look like a victim (one again), which a lot of people are not buying anymore. I agree, she is trying to engage Jon to keep herself relevant through some magazine articles hoping Jon will respond - quite pitiful.

Bottom line, I think most people (at least on this blog) want to see these kids off camera so they can have a normal childhood, know Kate is pulling out her arsenal in desperation, once again, and hopeful that the tactics (twitter) does not cause a problem with people who appear to have the best interest of the kids in mind, in the long run.

Kate Plus 8 June 6: 1.214 million

So...from TLC's perspective this dating show pilot was a success. Is Twist of Kate going to turn into a Date with Kate spin-off?

Viewers who watched are telling TLC, with their tv remote, that they would watch a Kate dating show.

This possibly extended Kate's fifteen minutes of fame and created a new spin-off.

I'm torn by this. On one hand, Kate might get a new show that possibly won't involve the kids. On the other hand, I'd feel embarrassed for the kids, especially if this episode is a sign of what's to come in Kate's near future. I know TLC wouldn't make it a classy version of The Bachelorette, which I haven't seen past season 1.

______________

I know, but Kate is such a desperate fool for attention, she never considers the impact her insane behavior has on ALL of her kids. But it may just lead to her having her own show, with the kids done with filming. And they no longer have to defend their own behavior on film, but only their narcisstic mother, if they choose to do so. Teens are good at this, but not sure about the sextuplets. They seem to have gotten the short end of the stick in many ways, as their mom expected far too much from them before they were even born. Agree, lesser of 2 evils with the kids not filming.

Uugh, I just checked in to see what the ratings were. What a joke! I did have a feeling they would improve since hitting rock bottom last time, but over a million? Khate must be so thrilled today and is probably calling TLC to tell them to go for this new direction in the show. She is an embarrassment to her kids and a disgrace of a mother. I truly am so damn sick of her. She will eventually disappear, but damn it's way beyond her time by now. I feel sorry for those kids if they're going to have to film all summer long.

dee3 said... 144

And is 1.2 million all that great? Nothing close to the divorce episode which drew 10 million. And this one did get a lot of hype on the blogs.

But to me....she's just not interesting or riveting enough to star in a show on her own. I cannot see her being able to maintain decent ratings. Actually, for me personally...I abhor watching any grown woman trying to act "cutesy" (I call it acting "cutesy"...when a woman hams it up for attention and seems totally riveted by herself and her own performance). I can't even look...and have to turn away. For me, it's beyond embarrassing, it's mortifying.

This episode might have initially drawn viewers due to the foot/leg/bar hype but I can't see her maintaining it. She's just not fun or interesting to watch...at least to me she's not....no matter how cutesy she tries to act or how much she hams it up/over-emotes.

Heck, and let's face it....when she finally disappears (along with the children no longer having to be filmed)...I'll miss all my friends here.

Just caught a transcript of what Kate said in one of the most recent interviews. Loved how she made it sound like things have improved compared to when Jon was yelling at her...as if she just took it like a simpering puppet. Have you EVER seen Kate allow anyone to yell at her? EVER? I'm sure she gave as well as she took....if she even took any at all....and I'll bet it was Kate who was likely doing all the yelling.

Also loved how she said something about Jon's attention now being focused on a much better subject or something like that.....as if what he was focused on before was very negative.

Was she referring to Jon enjoying his quiet life with Ellen? (jealous much?)

Or was she referring to Jon in the bars with all the women? The "Ed Hardy" phase?

Because Kate, that was a long time ago. Time to take off the prom queen crown, stop looking at it on you in the mirror, and put it away somewhere. Those days are long gone and no need to surreptitiously (and malevolently) dredge them up.

Either way....most of her comments were either overtly negative regarding Jon or were very back-handed compliments where she was willing to stipulate to some improvement but still got her jabs in.
She loves to play the long-suffering ex-spouse and mother.....which is nothing like what she really is.

Mimi to 3 said... 146

Admin, I was just about to say almost the same thing as you. I don't think anyone should ever assume Kate is going away. She's not. It appears to me that they are testing the waters to see if everyone wants to see a reality show with Kate getting back into the dating scene. And if the ratings mean anything, they may have exactly what they want. I know most people on here say it's o.k. if Kate is still on TV as long as the kids are off. I disagree. So shoot me. The reason is I hate to see anyone who has as many negative and hateful personality traits come out on top. They do not deserve it. Kate most especially does not deserve it. Another thing I disagree about is Jon keeping quiet and taking the 'high road'. I really disagree with this one. Jon has been trashed and bashed on every level. And as long as TLC is in the picture and gives Kate these venues to promote her show and herself and trash Jon in the process, he loses again. The kids will see everything that has been said by their mother in a few years when they get curious and start searching around for information that is out there -- because they are famous. As long as Kate keeps trashing him, he needs to respond back to her. No way has he been screaming at her when they talk, that's just what she says. He is under TLC's thumb no more so he needs to seek out and speak out. Believe me, there are plenty of sources he could use that would pay him big bucks to speak up. The kids will not be hurt, Kate hurts them every day she is with them. They know their Dad.

She's here and going nowhere.

Hopefully the end is near. Nobody likes Kate, they are just sticking around to see her fall flat on her face. She is the butt of everyone's jokes, she's a disgrace to all mothers. Hopefully she disappears into TV Has Beens soon!!

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 148

At this point I think we might have to be realistic about it. Kate has made it very clear she will not go away, not without a fight anyway. She is now willing to stoop so low as to leave her kids with the hired help to bar hop, get drunk, and let someone lick her foot (Hey Kate fans, hypocrite much?? Jon was blasted for bar hopping!). She is willing to do ANYTHING to stay in the spotlight. So if Kate can't go away, maybe at least she can do things that don't involve the kids. Do the same show as last night, only DON'T cut back to the kids at home with the silly string and the nanny.

The truth is viewers are bored with the kids. Last time the show was on, Philly Fun, it was all about the kids. And the ratings were TERRIBLE. Thankfully, people are no longer interested in these kids. It is nothing personal against the kids, they are lovely children and always have been--but they are just some person's kids, no more special than any other kids, and it's a good thing viewers have finally lost interest as now they can MAYBE start to regain some privacy. On the contrary, viewers want to see Kate make a fool of herself, and that's it.

On another note, I don't like the scolding here about watching the show. I have seen this blog's numbers, and it is nowhere near 1.2 million I can assure you. Many people here have said they don't watch, I have to assume they are being truthful, and the ratings were terrible last episode. There are thousands of casual viewers who may never visit this blog or ANY blog about this show we simply cannot reach. I haven't yet watched it myself, which is just proof how boring this show has become to me even when it's more controversial than other weeks. I doubt I ever would watch it if not for the recap. I don't mind discussion about whether watching or not watching should happen, but please don't scold and chide like we are children. Besides this might be the one case where it was a good thing people tuned in--I think it might send a strong message to TLC viewers want to see Kate, not the kids.

I can't find the post but I wanted to say I do appreciate the viewpoint that Jon has got to respond to this raging lunatic when she throws him under the bus. I cannot imagine letting that go on and not responding.

But I do disagree that he should respond. He should say NOTHING. Speaking from experience, having spent my career in family law, I can't emphasize a much how psychologically damaging it is to a child to have two parents duking it out back and forth, much less doing so in public. He has to put the kids above his own desires to set the record straight, and it takes a strong, strong person to do so.

Kate is what experts call an "obsessed parental alienatior." She lives to estrange Jon, and when the court of law won't allow her, she just gets even more rabid. You can google this to read a little more about what that all entails. What Kate is doing alone can and will be incredibly damaging to the children. But the only thing that would be worse is if both parents participated.

At the end of the day, a child is far more likely to internalize which parent was really there for them, was patient, kind, listening to them, did things with them, rather than one parent's obsessed bitter angry ramblings against the other. The irony is, Kate might end up destroying her own relationship with the kids far more than what she is trying to do to their relationship to Jon. Kids don't like a parent who won't shut the hell up about someone the kids' clearly adore. Just look at the video of the crying kids being returned to Kate--no matter how much Kate tries, they adore their daddy.

And as I always say, you really can't complain too much about the parent of your children--you picked 'em.

How would you feel to know that, after once projecting yourself as a Christian woman with strong moral values, you now had to cast aside any remaining scruples and be seen as a drunken bar-fly in a last-ditch effort to save a failing show? Anything to save the show, or to land a solo show, right? How do all of those people feel who were duped into reaching into their pockets to give love offerings, all in the name of the religious beliefs that she was professing?

"Besides this might be the one case where it was a good thing people tuned in--I think it might send a strong message to TLC"

+++++++++++++++++

Could be, but how do we know that viewers didn't also tune in to watch the kids trash the house - those scenes were also heavily promoted?

I agree with the scolding about watching the show. We're not kids here and shouldn't have to apologize to anyone for what we watch or what we don't watch. I haven't seen a show in ages and have no intention to ever see anything with Kate and kids, Kate and Steve, Kate and Jamie, just Steve, just the kids, just Kate or just Jamie, but I sure as heck would become offended if I were reprimanded for watching it. I saw snippets of the promo for the last show. That was more than enough for me.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 157

And the scolding is just misguided. I think I can count on one hand the people here who said they watched it. If it was even that. So five people watched it. Compared to 1.2 million!

I think the real frustration is in how the vast majority of those 1.2 million just don't have the information nor have ever sought it out to know the full extent of the child exploitation that has led up to the little laugh of Kate getting her foot licked.

Do I think the people here should watch, no, but it's their choice. We've presented all the information here they could ever need as to why they should not watch, scolding and chiding them like this is kindergarten sure isn't going to help.

It is a FEW people and I sort of dislike this implication that people here are watching. No, a FEW people here are watching, and everyone else has assured us they are abstaining. If people here are causing the ratings, how do you explain the low ratings last episode?

I'm sorry Mimi, but I have to disagree. She will not around much longer. I know, we've been saying that for years, but I really think this will be it for her. I'm upset ratings went up, people just can't look away for some damn reason, but IMO, TLC is done w/ her, this will be her last season, & that's that. Kate will get no dating show. She doesn't have IT. Nobody wants to see that harpy date & degrade & nag a guy. And frankly, America is over her. She is so hated, no company would want to sponsor just her. The kids, maybe, but just Kate?

And from the comments I read of people who did watch (argh!) the kids couldn't even spell Happy or birthday? & they still sit in highchairs?? Um, that to me is not cute, that is sad. Their growths are stunted. Sad. Sorry, Mimi. I tend to disagree with you. :)

I did not know this woman existed until DWTS and then checked out her background, also Jon's background. No, I give neither any credit. They have confused and pretty much ruined the childhood of all 8 children, especially the twins, as they never expected their lives to change so drastically at 4 yrs of age. So, yes I see Mady disliking her siblings, at times. I see Cara taking on being a little Mommy. So the twins gave up a lot.

The tups were raised as rich kids with a silver spoon and neglected by Kate and Jon, so they do not know what parents are, they only know baby sitters.

I do not know why the divorce, what the custody arrangements are *but remember those tups are use to a big house with their own beds and they will require more materially, just like their mother* they may have all the problems mentioned in this blog but they, right now, are also use to traveling first class. So perhaps Jon has more of a Wall to climb.

I have no respect for either parent and I find all of this exhausting as this woman will take a job picking the lottery balls in order to stay on TV, no doubt. I also think Kate may have a drinking problem if she really "got into the partying and even Steve couldn't take her drink away as said on one of the posters"

It is a fight, but people have to remember not to even mention her show, as I believe TLC monitors all of these Blogs.

The Talk interview with Kate Gosselin (2/2011):

Leah Remini: Do you wish you hadn’t of done certain things in the press, do you wish you maybe wouldn’t have said, you know, responded….

Khate: I only answered what came out….

LR: Right

Khate: Well, no, I needed to respond at some point ‘cause the rumors get out of control. I mean, ninety-nine percent of what you read about me online is not true. Um, it’s far from true. And so, I feel like the answers that I put out there were because I have to remember that my kids are going to be able to look back on this, and there’s certain things I needed to come out and say, I need to clear the record and say this is not what’s happening, I mean…..

And so, the only things I came out and said were things that I didn’t want my kids to see me, you know, on The Today Show, on any show, you know, bashing their father. I won’t do it, you will never hear me do it. He will always be their father, no matter his choices.

(Credit to Nobody Likes a Narcissist for the transcript.)

http://www.realitytvkids.com/2011/02/kate-on-talk-discussion-thread.html

What happened to not bashing their father on tv, like she stated way back in February?

Apparently, as long as Kate doesn't call Jon a "bad father", she doesn't think she's bashing him in any way. BUT, it's okay to imply to media and viewers that Jon isn't a good father by announcing his custody schedule, etc.

Jon has taken the high road by not addressing Kate's comments or their current situation by stating he won't discuss it, in his last interview.

Admin, I agree that Kate might ruin her relationship with her kids by continuing to bring up Jon in her interviews and on her show. Jon might only get them every other weekend, but it doesn't mean he loves them any less. Those kids could feel more love from him in those "four days" than the amount of time Kate has them.

The fact is that Kate and Jon have been divorced for almost two years (in December but announced May 2009). Yet, Kate still continues to bring him into the conversation. It's just sad that she hasn't moved on...even though she claims how much happier she is now.

I think you need to go back and watch some videos from the early days, and read some interviews to see who took care of those kids. He certainly did not, by any means, neglect them, and he was ALWAYS there to support his children in all of their school events while she was traipsing hither and yon, too busy to be bothered by those kinds of things.

I know it's impossible for Kate to understand how someone else might feel, but maybe if she imagined if someone said to her, "Kate, you're a great mom NOW."

She would obviously take that as oh well I wasn't a good mom BEFORE, and to a person who processes things normally, that's hurtful.

There are very few things she can say about Jon that aren't infringing on his privacy, the children's private relationship with him, or dragging out the messy breakup.

Some examples of good things to say:

I wish Jon the best.
We're doing the best we can for our kids.
Jon is a great Dad.

And....that's about it before you're going into the territory of throwing Jon under the bus.

Statements like, "Jon tries. Jon is doing better. Jon's focus is on better things now. Well at least the kids love him, god love 'em." Are BACKHANDED COMPLIMENTS.

Although I suppose when you have no social skills, you can't see the difference.

Hey, Kate tweeted she will never change her name from Gosselin because she wants to keep the same name as her kids. Heck, that's one of the nicest things she ever said on Twitter. I think it would only hurt the kids for her to cut not only Jon out but his name. I think this is something POSITIVE for the kids.

Not that I believe her explanation for a second, as I think she wants to keep the name for the BRAND. But at least it's nice to say you want to keep your name for your kids.

Up until a couple of years ago, I had never even seen more than two minutes of this show. But, when the divorce craziness hit the news the spring of 2009, I finally watched a couple of episodes. I could not believe how horrible of a person Khate was, so I Googled around, found the blog world, and happily settled here at this blog.

Well, I don't think this ratings spark will last. I was reading some of the comments, at some of the articles, on mondays show, and they were not good. A lot of the Kate sheeples, loyal fans , were really up-set about this episode, and will not watch anymore. One said, that the reason, she watched Kate, was cause of the struggle in the beginning to raise that many kids, but now, Kate has changed so much, that there is no connection, with her. A lot were shocked by her behavior. They said she has become a poor role model. At this point I would say, it's a matter of time.

Nobody Likes a Narcissist said... 174

Ha, I don't believe anything Khate says. If she happened to remarry someone famous (not that it would ever happen!), she'd take that new, more famous name in a minute with absolutely no concern about having a different name than her kids.

And, that brings up the point about remarriage anyway. Khate claims she want to remarry one day, doesn't she? Well, most men wouldn't mind if you retained your maiden name, but it gets pretty sticky if you want to be married to Husband #2 while legally going by the name of Husband #1.

I was just reading the Daily Mail on line and they have an article on the Walton sextuplets who celebrated their 27th birthday in Great Britain. They are six girls, certainly one of if not the first surviving 6, and they apparently had publicity in their country. I get the idea it was mostly pictures and tv updates on their birthdays for 18 years. The money probably helped out the family finances without leaving them entirely dependent on the entertainment industry. It would have been so much better for this family to go for the same arrangement. Anyway, they seem like a nice family, and the dad is super.

With all their travel, they must eat at restaurants frequently. Does Kate request booster seats because the kids are too short for restaurant tables?

(When Jon and Kate stayed in NC, they didn't bring the boosters with them and the kids managed to eat in regular dining chairs.)

Or, is her dining table just ridiculously too tall for them to fit? I guess she'd rather spend the money on herself than getting new dining furniture FOR THE KIDS.

Kate's been to IKEA before; their furniture is reasonably priced. Maybe Kate should tweet a pic of the IKEA dining chairs she would love to have, so she can get them for free.

I remember going to a restaurant when I was little and refusing the booster seat my mom requested. It made me feel like a baby while other kids (especially some I knew) were sitting normal.

Guess Kate doesn't realize how ridiculous it is to have her SEVEN YEAR OLD sextuplets in boosters. What a coincidence that after someone tweets about the boosters, she mentions that they'll be in regular chairs this summer.

No need debating it. The kids know who has taken care of them, who loves them, and who has been there for them. Really, that is all that matters. Jon's not out to impress you, me, or anyone else. He's been quiet, and that speaks volumes.

TLC was effective in having Kate interview hop on Monday. IMO, this explains the uptick in ratings. HOWEVER, it will backfire because the episode was disappointing for some of the fans who do not like the evolution of the show as evidenced by some sheeple comments. 1.2 million does not guarantee the show will survive after this year. This is as high as it will get because this number has been pretty consistent. She is solid with this number and TLC, I believe, still cannot justify the costs of keeping her on the air. If she has to hype it up every time an episode airs, it speaks to me that the show has run it's course.

Unless Jon comes out with a tell-all book this year, she's toast. TLC is trash TV and unless there is some controversy, I can't imagine her small ratings justifying the production expense.

"Jumping the shark" originally came from an episode of the sit-com Happy Days...when Fonzie jumped over a shark (on water skis) in an episode. And people began to refer to the "jumped the shark" episode as the one that began the decline of the popularity of that show. Over time, the term "jumped the shark" has come to mean when any show has started a downward decline in popularity.
I would think that most people would consider the Gosselin show to have jumped the shark after the divorce....when it began a slow, downward spiral in popularity.

For most, I would say, the enjoyment was in watching a young family try to raise a large number of children, including twins and sextuplets. A percentage, like me, tuned out as soon as we saw her personality but let's say that Kate was the nicest person imaginable....the show still became boring once Jon left.

When I was young, anyone wanting you to come over and "watch slides" of their vacation was sure to elicit a big groan. I know that nobody uses slides any more....but it was the epitome of boring....just watching pictures of someone else on their vacation.

And similar to those who would excitedly showed their slides back then, Kate seems to think that everyone really wants to see her and the kids traipsing around on vacation....but the reality is that very few people are interested in seeing ANYONE traipse around on vacation....unless there is some major, riveting plot-line involved....or if it's National Geographic showing rarely-seen remote tribes of the Amazon, etc.

On Happy Days, Fonz had jumped over the shark on a vacation with the Cunninghams....because they had simply run out of things to film....so they went off on a vacation.

Put Kate's personality aside and also that the children are getting older now.....any show is going to run out of things to film eventually....especially one where there's not really any plot line and it's just people doing things and going places. Most people would rather go see the Liberty Bell themselves instead of watching someone else do it. All but the die-hard fans eventually just wander off out of boredom.

And as far as the blogs and comments go....I think that no matter how many blogs and comments there are about a certain celebrity, their show still has to be interesting and fun to watch...or it will also "jump the shark" at some point....and get cancelled.

Hi everyone. I happened to think this uptick in the ratings is telling TLC the fans want to see more at home episodes. I have seen MANY fans say they miss the ones filmed at home. SO, Ms Kate might not be doing all this world travel she loves so much. LOL That would be funny to me. I forgot this stupid show was even on. I USED to be curious and watch, but I have lost ALL curiousity and just can't stomach watching her. From the preview clips the kids sure have grown. They also seem to be "acting" more, from what I saw. So, yeah TLC film Kate getting licked in a bar! SUCH entertainment! lol

IF she wants to stay on tv, I would really suggest she take English 101 again. Her "like" "um" and run on sentencss were just terrible. I am not perfect by any means, BUT I don't want to be on TV for the rest of my life. Or even a second actually. LOL And I don't profess to LOVE TO COMMUNICATE. She was HORRIBLE in that interview. It was an INTERVIEW Kate, not talking to Jaime while sitting right next to her on your little loveseat, or lying in bed next to her.

Bye all. :)

I made a comment a couple of threads ago about how Jon has taken the high road, not saying anything that COULD implicate Kate. There are so many things he could say that ruin her. But he is thinking about their kids, & their future. Kate however is not. And when the time comes when the kids see who did what & they read about the very public divorce & who said what about whom, Kate's name will be the one who pops up saying all these negative things about their dad. And Kate will the bad guy. Who then will the kids blame? They will also blame Kate for making their lives so public when Jon specifically said he wanted the kids off TV. Kate will be the one the kids blame for everything, but she isn't thinking about the future, just today, because that is all she has. She has no future.

That is awesome. I love hearing that there are families of multiples out there that don't look for handouts, grift, ask for everything under the sun, & expect it. Kate is just one of the rare ones who slipped by I guess. How? I don't know. She was sly & planned planned planned. How people can STILL believe that she is a struggling mother is beyond belief. She is a multi-millionaire, she has everything she could possibly need, yet still sticks that palm out asking for more.

Most of us live modestly, I know I do, & am damn happy with what I have. I know if I hit the powerball I would donate so much to charity, give to my family, my friends, & yes I would invest. What the hell would I do with 100million? Or even 6 million bucks? The point is, money can change someone IF you're predisposed to greediness, & Kate, well we all know she is one greedy, self-serving person. The more she got, the more she wanted. MORE isn't better. And she isn't teaching her kids a good life lesson. When the gravy train stops rolling, & they possibly start living hand to mouth, as many do in this economy, how will Kate explain that? "Kids, this is, um, well, honestly, um, I can't, um, welcome to the real world! Deal with it!" Confused kids, no more "golden platter", & Kate, blaming everyone else but herself. That's how I see it. No wonder Greed is one of the 7 Deadly Sins.

I started watching J&K+8 when they first aired the specials, because at the time I had 2 year old triplets and wanted to see how she handled 6 infants plus the twins. I admit, I liked the show in the beginning. I did notice that Jon did an awful lot of the work, while Kate walked around criticizing everything he was doing instead of helping him. I used to think, why don't you just help him instead of bitchin' about it. If I think about it, she was always filmed in the kitchen, by herself, while the kids were either with Jon, or downstairs. I always wondered how she could send all 8 of them downstairs....who was watching them?? Since she claimed she had no help. Anyway, it was the Utah trip that was the last straw for me. I really couldn't believe her behavior on the plane. At first, I didn't think she was really crying and when I realized she was, I was appalled!! How could you break down like that in front of your kids, not to mention the cameras. Then when she just laid on the couch and expected Jon to dress all 8 in ski clothes and bring them to the ski area by himself, well, I lost all respect for her. There were plenty of times that I was tired, or sick, but you just have to do what is required. I stopped watching after that. I really thought she would go away after the divorce, but then there she was on DWTS and what a fool she made of herself on that. That is when I found this blog. I love coming here to read everyones comments. I am upset that the ratings went up, but I do think she is done when her contract is up in February. How do I know? I don't, just a feeling. Especially, since she mentioned the show coming to an end in one of her interviews. My only hope until she is gone forever, is that the kids have a film free summer. I also hope Kate does not get a show of her own, basically because I think there is no one less deserving and because I think her behavior embarrasses the kids. She can't help herself, she has no social skills and no class.

batterednotbroken - "Jump the Shark" comes from an episode of "Happy Days", where Fonzie jumped his motorcycle over a shark. It's original meaning was the highest point in a show's run - where things are so good they can't possibly get any better and so everything after that point is downhill. Now a lot of people use it to mean the lowest point of a show's run - as in it couldn't possilby get any worse.

It's not ignorant to ask if you don't understand something or know something. I always tell my students that there are no dumb questions. The only dumb question is the one you don't ask.

Pixie - it's quite easy to find concrete evidence that Jon didn't and doesn't neglect his children. Just watch the early episodes, when the focus was more on the family life and not on one luxurious trip after another. JON was the parent who cared for the kids: bathed, fed, dressed, cuddled, talked to and, yes, played with them. He's the one shown taking them places and doing things with them. Kate either refused to participate, or spent her time shrieking at Jon for not doing things by her exacting standards and for wasting time spending it actually parenting his children.

Sorry Pixie: while you are entitled to your opinion, the source for the claim of Jon attending school events and taking care of the kids, is if you have watched the JK8 and all the articles, interviews, and their was/is a old blog, that has people who live and their kids went to school with the Gosselin kids. These parents did say that Kate never showed up for any school events, it was always Jon, and as for taking care of the kids on JK8 it was mostly Jon not Kate who was doing that. Kate was pulling the poor over worked mom act, even when she had lots of help. When Jon was working, the first thing she do when he came home was complain, about oh how tired she was, and she had a lot of people helping her take care of those kids, mostly from her church. That is the source. The people who were there to help, parents of kids attended school with the G8, and neigbors(who were glad when the moved, the first time, and the second time, and those that live around the mcmansion are hopeing she move now). When they did that E! Doc, they could not find any ex-neighbors who would talk about them, and the very few who did, did not want to appear on camera, but did say she was not a nice person, nor was she friendly, and they did not like the paps and camera crew on their street. If this is not proof and available on line. I don't know what is.
NT: Kate gets paid $250,000 per episode, so yes she is getting $500,000, for the 2 back to back episodes. So it means that Kate will make by the end of summer, over several million dollars. So the poor single/divorced mom of 8, can't use that crap of, no money to pay bills or college funds, or I have to support my kids, BS. Kate and TLC are feeding off each other till the contract runs out!

E-Town neighbor said:.... "It's YOUR opinion that it's an opinion! I've seen it and know that it's NOT an opinion, but a fact. I don't need a source for what I have seen.

It doesn't matter what you believe, or if you need a concrete source. I know what I know, and I do believe that he has proven himself over the past year, and that there are many, many others who can see this without any kind of concrete proof.

No need debating it. The kids know who has taken care of them, who loves them, and who has been there for them. Really, that is all that matters. Jon's not out to impress you, me, or anyone else. He's been quiet, and that speaks volumes.
-----------------------------------------------

I have to come out to stand firmly behind E-Town. By virtue of a young relative who attends a private school in Lancaster, I can vouch for every claim she's made about Jon because my young relative's parent has told me many times about the numerous ways in which Jon has stepped up. He is an excellent parent. His ex plays one on TV.

E-Town is the real deal. She is 'in the know' but only mentions very selective, benign info. I lost count of how many times she has mentioned something that was exactly as I was told.

More importantly, it is the number of things she *hasn't* said which tells me how important it is to her to protect the G kids and their privacy. Nothing scandalous, just the little details of their lives that belong to them and them alone. I know for myself, my little relative attended the skating birthday party last winter and some funny, adorable anecdotes were shared with me. It was tempting to blog about them, but even their funny, cute moments should be private and their own.

So.... take this for what it's worth. At the end of the day I'm just anonymous wayward from Central PA behind my computer screen. I know because of the many imposters it's hard to know who is credible and who is not. I understand people want proof. However, we're here because these kids have been forced to film a television show for years now with no regards to their wants, needs, consent and right to privacy. If E-Town or I provided proof in the form of a photograph we would be contributing to the G-kid's lack of privacy and publicly flogged. And rightly so. We just have to use our good judgement and common sense when sorting out what seems credible and what is bunk, when concrete proof would fly in the face of the protections for the kids we advocate for here.

I've heard different dates of when Kate's contract is up. Is there a way to know the actual date?

I hate TLC, but at least they waited to air the 'Licking Show' after school was out. Hopefully, the kids won't be teased as much next fall as many of them will probably have forgotten about it. However, it is sure to come up somewhere. How is Kate going to explain that kind of scene to her kids? I watched it online and I'm sure many parents let their children watch that crap. How many parents will have to deal with 'licking' behavior by their kids now? I shudder to think.
