I just got back from England and Germany (woo-hoo!) and am way behind but y'all mentioned running pictures and her 9-miler, and I went and looked. I'm a runner, currently battling injury though. (You do regain your stamina pretty quickly once you start up again, thankfully, for the person who asked.) I don't know - I look at those (and other) photos and wonder, where is her water? Most runners have hydration belts now, or even a bottle, especially if running more than 3-4 miles. Those shorts would be awful - can you say chafing? I chafed until I bled in my first 1/2 marathon because I had not heard about special contact lube, near my groin area. Took weeks to heal and hurt like HELL! And it would also feel weird and annoying to carry that Ipod or Iphone or whatever it is. Why not buy an arm band or a clip? Maybe she does and maybe she doesn't, but she sure doesn't seem to think like a serious runner, either by choice of gear or diet.
Regarding Kate's 40K+ followers, I truly don't think Kate will be happy until she has more followers than Jon. That is her ultimate goal.
Of course, it will be a shallow victory given the fact Jon no longer accepts followers on Twitter.
I suspect that won't matter to Kate though. She'll still see it as a victory!

Last summer stunk because the kids had to travel this summer. I dont know, she rarely looks like she's running at all. More of a marching trot with tiny little clomping steps. Just enough for Chris to get the pics, and he probably drove her back home. Which is why she could leave the kids alone, she thought it was ok since she was 'only' gone 10 minutes.
My daughter runs, marathons etc (she is exactly Kate's age) and my son in law is a decent amateur photographer. He has taken hundreds of pics of her running, training, etc, and Kate's foot placement looks very unusual. I am no expert of course, but it's very odd.
And how right you are, PJ's Momma, those little shorts would never never do! Not for all the miles Kate claims to run. Sweat and friction cause horrible chaffing and since we all know Kate has made a habit the past several years of having the best of everything for herself, why doesnt she have proper clothing and gear for this "stomping marching trot" she is posing for?
Now that it has been pointed out here, she will set up another photo op with Chris and will be in proper wicking clothing. After the bus stop pics of course.

It does strike me as odd that Kate seems to be the only "celebrity" who tweets this much, let alone this much information out there for all to see and read. Does anyone else know of a real celebrity that does this? I sure can't think of one. Most celebrities thrive on their private quite family and or charitable actions away from seeking attention. Kate...seems to be just the opposite. I think a grown woman would and should be aware of her words are out there, and will continue to be out there, you can't take it back. Regarding the tweets from Lancasterwatch (LW):
This is the party who tweeted they purchased backpacks for the kids at Kohl's and told Kate to go and pick them up (shortly after Kate made the comment about re-using backpacks this year). Tonight, after some sanctimonious tweets about getting Kate "back to the church," LW started talking to a person new to Kate's thread about getting Kindles for the kids (this woman, out of nowhere, offered iPads; LW soberly advised that Kindles would be more appropriate--I know, it DOES sound insane, doesn't it?).
Besides the fact that it is beyond ridiculous for complete strangers to be buying such things for the (wealthy) children of a very wealthy woman, in early July LW tweeted KG several times questioning whether Kate had been truthful about her infertility claims, and there was absolutely no mistaking LW's implication that Kate had concocted that whole story. (By the way, LW's very first tweet, back in May, was about the LaFair judgment, as I believe someone here pointed out). She/he/they certainly didn't seem too well inclined toward Kate just a few short weeks ago.
So what's up with this weirdness? The talk about "the church" sure sounds like it could be a person or people who know/knew her, as did the comments about the infertility. Could it be a relative? But then why put all this out in public? Anyone?

Kindles have to be attached to an Amazon account which in turn has to have a valid credit or debit card. When a Kindle book is ordered the credit or debit card is charged and an email verifying the transaction is sent to the primary card/Amazon account holder. I'm trying to figure out how to go about this grifting business. I'm struggling financially. I have 4 kids. I'm a single parent. I'm a nurse, like Kate, except I have an Associate's Degree. I am scared that we won't have enough money for groceries next week. I would love to give my kids Kindles or iPads! I need a new pair of shoes because I have a foot problem that is exacerbated by working 16 hr shifts on shoes that are worn down, but I used the money we had for clothing to buy shoes, clothes, backpacks and school supplies for my kids. We're re-using lunch boxes, though.
I actually do attend church regularly and tithe, as well, because there are many more out there in worse shape than we are financially. It is truly frustrating to see Kate rewarded, and even worse, admired for exploiting her children, berating her ex, and living a lifestyle most can't afford yet crying poverty. Sickening.
I just had to vent about this. I've literally been losing sleep lately thinking of ways to cut expenses to pay off dr bills, while Kate is twittering how she's sleeping late and has time to take 90 minutes by herself to run....ARGHH!!

I was watching Family Guy tv show by Seth MacFarlane (FOX) 2 nights ago. At the end, there was a statement about "Kate Plus 8" and TLC. I had a severe headache and barely could read it. I am certain it blasted Kate exploiting her kids and her cancellation. The episode was when Stewie was left home alone. Did anyone else see this? Finally mainstream media is commenting.
She reminds me of my rich uncle. He will ask me why did you buy this or that and I will say because I got a good price on it. He will say there is only one good price and that is free.

Trying to get in on the grifting game huh? Do what people do in my neighborhood at the local grocery store. Stand there with a sign that says will work for food & just get cash donations all day. I stopped once & asked the guy what was up & he said he'd been out of work for about a year, ya know, because of drugs. I said, there are plenty of jobs out there you could do. Then I asked him if he was cleaned up. He said yes. I said Great! Then I said, How about landscaping or driving parts around or working at McDonalds or anything? He picked up his stuff & left.

I completely agree with you and find it appalling that many of these fans do not seem to quite understand the significance of "a million"(much less 5 million)...nor do they seem to have any concept of "getting "interest" from savings/investments. Not really. It's just amusing. If she lives near her, it would make sense for her to purchase the backpacks close to her home and Kate's home - not in the next county where Kate would have to drive some distance to pick them up.

Those LLBean backpacks and lunch boxes TLC purchased for the kids last year via the show were monogrammed and of the highest quality available. They were easily S100 apiece when you include matching lunchbox and monogramming on both. They last forever, the zippers never break, they're warrantied for life...no way do those kids need lesser quality backpacks from Kohl's. I'm sure Katan got a store credit for what in her mind would be eight junky backpacks not suitable for her kids. They wear $200 Uggs for pity's sake. Bet you all a dollar we'll never see Kohl's anything on those spoiled kids. Not because their birth monster cares about them, but because she has an image to uphold, dontcha know.
Not sure if my previous post went through. I was wanting to say that I agree with No Regrets about the kids busting her on them soooo wanting her to remarry. The Q&A episode is one you should watch! She's asked very direct questions (by a TLC staff member,)she answers in her usual holier than thou attitude and then they pan to old clips that TOTALLY refute the Bull*hit she's
trying to sell. She has NO control over what they do with the footage, they edit it any way they want and THIS time it was to show her at her WORST! I mentioned in an earlier post, when she's going all pompous on her brother's a**, they show the clip of them on GMA stating that all they want is laws to protect CHILDREN IN THE REALITY TV INDUSTRY.

There will be foolproof evidence that Kate lied about NOT having tons of money. Wait until 12 or 18 months from now. If she is still living in the McMansion and her 8 are still enrolled in that uber expensive private school than that will be proof she has tons of money. I bet years from now (with no new tv show to support her) she will STILL be living in that home and her kids will still be in that expensive school. How will she than explain it to her sheeple that she didn't have millions? Time will tell. Though I believe TV guide when they wrote that she earned $250,000 in 2010 & 2011 episodes.
School starts tomorrow. I saw the episodes this past Monday night when it was repeated. I think Collin is still having bad behavior issues. During the games with Ashley, you can see him walking off the camera. And when all the kids went up the stairs to the treehouse, again you can see him walking off by himself. I believe TLC isn't showing him acting out but it is easy to put two and two together. It is a shame.

All this BS about not looking forward to her kids going back to school is so unbelievable I have to laugh. Bitch, you have EIGHT kids you've been alone with (according to you) in that house almost all summer. Mother Teresa would be counting down the damn days, hours, minutes and seconds until they got on that bus and don't tell me otherwise. I've been a mom for a long time, a high school and middle school teacher, and a high school principal. ANYONE with eight kids would be looking forward to some peace and quiet.

I saw a few of the repeat episodes and Collin still has behavior issues. He seems like a sweet child but he is also a bully. He bosses his brothers around and pushes and shoves them when they don't listen.
In the olympic games episode he shoved his brother so hard he fell. In the last episode he forced his brother to carry the bucket they use to feed the chickens. Collin volunteered to feed the chickens and one brother went along. On the way back he told his brother to carry the bucket and his brother said he didn't want to. He forced the bucket on him in a very bullying way. The little boy tried to stand up for himself but then there's footage of him carrying the bucket back. I hope he gets the help he needs to deal with his bullying ways. I don't see Kate helping him because she herself is a bully.

A hearty Amen to that! I love my kids to death, and I'm the proverbial Momma Grizzly, but after having them home for three months, I breathe a sigh of relief when I drop the last one off at school. You appreciate them so much more when they aren't with you every hour of the day from late May until the end of August!

Bubbles, dearheart, I have been there! I raised 4 kids too all alone and worked long hours to try to keep up. I remember selling my wedding rings, my class rings, etc to buy groceries.

Trying to get in on the grifting game huh? Do what people do in my neighborhood at the local grocery store. Stand there with a sign that says will work for food & just get cash donations all day. I stopped once & asked the guy what was up & he said he'd been out of work for about a year, ya know, because of drugs. I said, there are plenty of jobs out there you could do. Then I asked him if he was cleaned up. He said yes. I said Great! Then I said, How about landscaping or driving parts around or working at McDonalds or anything? He picked up his stuff & left.

In my very extended family we have four Kindles on one Amazon account; however, we gave a Kindle to another family member who wanted her own account, and all Amazon has to know is that the new Kindle will be registered separately (there is a section right on the order form that asks if the new Kindle is a gift for someone who will be creating their own Amazon account - easy).

Flight of the Dodo - Ziploc makes plastic disposable containers as well as bags. Much as I hate to defend Kate, I think that's what she's referring to. I use them sometimes, especially for things like tomato based foods. They stain plastic and the Ziploc containers are so inexpensive that I don't feel guilty about discarding them afterward - they're recyclable.

She's asked very direct questions (by a TLC staff member,)she answers in her usual holier than thou attitude and then they pan to old clips that TOTALLY refute the Bull*hit she's
trying to sell. She has NO control over what they do with the footage, they edit it any way they want and THIS time it was to show her at her WORST! Are self-tanners the same as bronzers?? In the Q&A episode, Kate clearly states that she goes to the tanning beds because she is "allergic" to the self tanners, so she has to use the tanning beds. She goes on to say that she doesn't adovcate the use of the beds, and that it's the "only unhealthy" thing that she does. But now she is going on and on about the $40 bronzer called Orgasm that she uses.... Is this another one of Kate's lies? No. A bronzer can either be in power form or liquid form. It's instant and is, more or less, just a deeper color makeup with some sparkle and glaze in it to give that "sun-kissed" look. A self-tanner is applied all over, the color develops gradually and lasts much longer. Bronzers generally wash off in the shower, while self-tanners wear off.

No, that is not what I wrote, nor is that how it works. The receiver of a gifted Kindle is the one who registers it out of the box. To register a Kindle is to create the Amazon account. Kindles are sent either pre-registered to an existing Amazon account OR unregistered (meaning to use it, one creates an Amazon account when they turn on a new Kindle for the first time). Bronzer vs. Self Tanner - a self tanner is essentially a chemical tan. It uses DHA to react with the amino acids in the stratum corneum (the top layer of your epidermis) to create a tan. DHA can cause contact dermatitis which is probably what Kate was referring to when she said she was allergic.
Bronzers are, as was already stated, just a darker makeup that usually has glitter in it.
The bronzer she's talking about is from Sephora and from what I can see is a facial bronzer used with blush, not an all over bronzer, but I could be wrong.
I believe that Kit was replying to me and I will rephrase my statement. If the children were to each get a kindle (8 unregistered kindles), Kate would have to register them on her own valid credit card.

This episode was a red flag reminder about the protections for children that should have been present in the entertainment work laws in PA. I only hope that the new laws in PA prevent something like this from happening again.
Since I haven't seen it mentioned yet, I thought I'd say something about the tree house. It's door and multiple windows (identical to what you'd find in homes) probably fit better than what you'd find in many houses today. Along with the shingled roof, the fancy steps, the loft, etc - that thing must have cost $5000+.
What is puzzling is that it's located quite a distance from the main house and I wonder when the kids would be permitted to go there and if they did, how much supervision they would have. From what they showed I got the impression that the tree house is located closer to the barn on the opposite side of the property from the house - not within eye or earshot of it (I don't know the property, so I'm just guessing about it's location from what I've seen of the layout in photos and on the show.)
Well there ya go - no fig trees around here, ficus house plants abound though! For those of us not-so-green-thumb-inclined the silk (read fake) ficus trees are right next to the live ones at the nursery store. Given that one can understand my confusion as to how one would put a tree house in one :)
I hope someone taped that episode (cleaning the chicken coops) and sends a copy to Rep Murt and PA's version of CPS.

Although Kindle gift cards are available ($25/$50/$100) you still have to put in a valid credit card number when registering for an account. When registering you'd name the Kindle and then have to pick which Kindle to deliver the book to. Once a book is purchased you can share it with any Kindle registered under the umbrella Amazon account. No, I don't work for Amazon but my husband, myself and the kids have Kindles.
What else I thought was interesting was that Kate was just dumping the chicken poo into a pile next to the barn.
There didn't seem to be any older piles there, just that day's pile that she was working on.
Someone else must normally haul the poo somewhere. I can't imagine that they compost it. So what DO they do with it?

The poo tray looked like it hadn't been emptied in MANY moons. Clearly hadn't been emptied in the last day or two.
Eight chickens supposedly generate 14 lbs of poo in a week. That would seem to me that you'd probably want to empty the tray every day or two.

And it didn't show any of them washing up after cleaning the coop. For such a germaphobe you'd think she would have been freaking about everybody washing up thoroughly before they touched anything else.

Amish kids do that every day of their lives - no masks, walking barefoot in the farmyard, swimming in the creek where they dig their feet into the cow poop. You can't call CYS because the kids were cleaning out a chicken coop. That said, I'm not sure if this type of "work" is in violation of the DOL's child labor laws or if they can be filmed doing this type of work. There's a long list of what minors in the industry are and are not permitted to do. Cleaning out chicken coops wasn't covered there, so I don't who would look at it and determine if it is in violation of the laws set forth.

Example - Kate's OCD. Yeah, right. Brushing hair at the kitchen table and teeth in the sink. Potty chairs set around the house and when they peed and missed, as kids do, having it splashed along the back, running down into the rug. I doubt if those carpets were shampooed on a daily basis.

While I don't discourage anyone from reporting what they feel is real abuse (that's the problem with all the kids dying lately, no one reports their concerns because it's "none of their business" or "I didn't think it was that serious" or "I didn't want the kids taken from their parents"), I can assure you a dirty chicken coop is not child abuse in any state by any stretch of the imagination. It's just that, a dirty chicken coop. It would be nice if it was clean, but do we really want to be wasting authorities' time on that?
I'm not going to say you can never talk about reporting things of grave concern here, but please save it for the more serious issues.

Dear, sweet Gladys. Her sister, Bertha, was my grandmother's neighbor. She knew more about my grandmother than my grandmother knew about herself!
If anything, I think in general, kids should be cleaning out a chicken coop. It's a good chore for them. It's generally safe, teaches them responsibility. These are their pets, now you have to do the work and that's good for kids to learn.
These kids I sometimes feel like they should be able to lounge around all day long for the rest of their childhoods they've worked so darn much, but being responsible for the chickens might be a really good thing for them. Gets them away from Kate, keeps their hands busy, gives them something to be proud of.
There is a difference between chores and work. A child should do chores. A child should not have to work.
Chores are tasks that help the household run and benefit the family, such as cleaning up the house and keeping things in order around the barn. Work is a job that helps Mommy get her $40 bronzer and hair extensions and travel and sushi and mansion. Work is not okay. Chores are.

I have no problem with kids doing chores - that's a good thing. I think that this chicken coop was deliberately not cleaned so these kids could be FILMED cleaning them. Maybe it wouldn't pass muster, but to my mind the situation was abusive, as have been many other "scenes" in many other "episodes" of these children's LIVES.
Histoplasmosis can be a nasty illness. Back in the spring one of my daughter's teachers was cleaning out the hay loft of a barn where birds had been nesting. She got extremely ill with histoplasmosis - she ended up in intensive care for several weeks, and during her first night her doctors thought they were losing her. It was very scary for her and her family. I had no idea it could be so serious.
Well the problem is as usual filming the kids doing things. Filming the kids doing anything at this point is beyond abuse, it's disgusting. Leave them the f alone. That's the abuse in my mind. Not cleaning the chicken coop itself.
Well the family has absolutely no business having chickens of course, let alone dogs. Start with a pet cactus I have always said and see how it goes. But that's another matter.

I think it's easy to lose perspective and then we get labeled by Kate's two fans as crazy ourselves.
I don't require a parent to be perfect, or to have a perfect chicken coop, or to be a perfect mother or perfect dog owner. I have certain things I strive for myself but I don't impose those on everyone around me. I wouldn't accept dirty dishes in the sink, but that doesn't mean dirty dishes for a few hours or even days makes you a bad person. Whereas I don't have a problem with kids vegging out and watching TV sometimes, and other parents might think any TV is bad for kids. I don't think authorities should be called on a parent who has dirty dishes in their sink, or who lets their kids watch TV. Or on an unclean chicken coop. It's not perfect, it would be nice if it were nice and clean for the chickens but it doesn't mean authorities should be brought in.
The big picture is we have eight children here who have been working their butts off for six years and yes, it's gone too far and authorities, in the form of legislation and changes to our law, should be involved, IMO.

BTW I am watching a documentary about raccoons (David Suzuki's The Nature of Things)and they just happened to mention how dangerous raccoon poop is. If you are cleaning it up you need to wear a mask because the dust is very bad for you!

I grew up next door to a chicken farm and have fond memories of wading through chickens and their poop to collect eggs, run them through the candling machine, packing them in cartons and helping Mr. D run his egg route. Mr. D suggested we wear boots or old sneakers because of the poop in the hen houses, but never wore a mask or gloves. We emptied trays too on a daily basis. This was a fun activity! "Mom, can I go over and help Mr. D collect eggs?" My brothers and I also helped bale hay in the field. Sometimes we came home with a dozen eggs or a fresh hen for dinner even though Mom was a regular on the egg route. In my teens I even learned how to catch and "prepare" a chicken for a customer wanting a fresh hen for supper. We didn't live in a farming community. Mr. D just had two long hen houses; probably a couple hundred chickens in each and a barn with one cow on about three acres. Those are really good memories and none of us got sick or were even expected to show up daily. We just loved Mr. and Mrs. D and their pond where we would skate in winter and swim in summer! This was 35 miles south of Boston.

While everyone has talked about or wondered about how Kate will adjust to no longer being a big-shot or on tv for that matter. I have curiousity to wonder how the children will adjust. I mean it has pretty much been part of their lives up to this point. Some have mentioned some of the kids having anger issues, difficulties or what have you and I wonder, how are they really going to adjust to no longer getting things for free? No longer being the only one's to go into a shoe store or a movie theatre? When things are no longer catered to them as well? Do we really believe the kids will be instantly happy with no more perks. I did not hear of their "summer tradition" of going to Bald Head Island like they used to I guess with no show they won't go. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't I hear Kate claim she could not take all the kids to NYC to see the Statue of Liberty because they had no show since Jon canceled it last year or so ago? I guess the kids will no longer get to take any trips or get to go anywhere is that it?
But I honestly don't understand this thing with wearing identical clothing so often. I guess it's cute when they are little and maybe even convenient to buy similiar outfits but at 7 years I should think kids are capable of dressing themselves how they want to an extent. It's just sad. They go to school in identical clothing then come home and have to wear identical clothing. It's sort of almost...well, weird, isn't it?
Paige is not normal. Something must seriously be wrong at home for her to go this crazy over a 30-something woman with eight kids. Sure teens have crushes on musicians and actors, but to this extent? What did she say about the note..."She touched this!"
I remember when my daughter had a crush on a major celebrity. She told me she could grow old and die happy if she could just touch his arm. What she didn't know was that I knew him. I took her where he was performing and she met him. Not only did he give her a hug, but a kiss on the cheek as well. She didn't say a word for the rest of the night - was almost catatonic. When she did speak, she said she was not going to wash her hand or her face ever again. She saw him many, many times after that, but no more crush. She moved on. She still keeps in touch with him, though!
Paige is one seriously delusional young lady. Kate occupies her every waking moment (and probably sees her in her dreams as well). There's something really "off" about that. Didn't she say that she has 7,000 photos of just Kate alone...or some wild number like that! Hopefully she will outgrow it. It's just good that she doesn't live within driving distance to Kate. Kate already has three local loonies begging for her to be their friends.
I watched the Q & A episode on youtube. Bleh. It was most interesting when they let the kids do the talking and Kate wasn't around.
The scenes with Jon and the kids choked me up. She was SUCH a humongous bitch to him. She rode his ass like a horse constantly. I bet he's so glad not to have to hear her screeching at him all the time.
But I have a question after watching that, with all the clips from old episodes: has she EVER treated ANYONE with respect? Sometimes, if she doesn't know a person, she's just sort of cold, dismissive, whatever. But that's as good as it gets. She doesn't have a warm or friendly bone in her body, does she?
One last thing: I could NOT get over how bad her eyes and skin look. She has definitely had those eyes pulled tight. They look totally different than they used to. And awful. They're just dead and cold. Her skin is pitiful under those layers of makeup. And girlfriend outright lied when she said the tummy tuck was her only plastic surgery--she was flat flat flat before she got her bolt-ons. Keep on keepin' on with that plastic surgery and tanning, Kate. It looks AWESOME. Hee.
I was just flipping through the channels and came across a bio on Rosie O'Donnell. Over the years, she's donated 100 million dollars to charity, particularly those involving children. She also bought a building and established a center for kids pursuing careers in acting.
The person commenting said that the figure could be much higher, because she never talks about it, or wants any kind of publicity.

Teens and tweens absolutely develop crushes on celebrities, but I think that this Paige gal's obsession goes far beyond a crush.
I remember way back when, in high school, some of my girlfriends and I had a major crush on a singer. My dad found out that he was performing at a venue not too far away. He surprised us with a trip to see the singer. It was general admission, so we had no idea where we would sit for the show. When we walked in, the hostess seated us at the first table. The seats were the first ones at the stage. I asked my dad how he managed that, and he laughed and said that it's called "greasing the palm!" When the singer came out, one of my friends signed and said, "Can you imagine - we are breathing the same air that he's breathing!"
Years later when I went away to college, I met the singer again and dated him briefly. He wasn't as fantastic as I had remembered him to be. Isn't it funny that when you meet a hero or an idol and get to know him, sometimes your opinion of him gets knocked down a few pegs and he's no longer Mr. Perfect?
