This both this week and last week's episodes are truly pathetic. The absolute worst I have ever seen. For this fool to keep asking people to watch is even MORE pathetic. I am so happy this crap has finally been cancelled. Thank GOD it is cancelled. Those poor kids. Those poor, poor children.
I am so disgusted by this woman. Ashley and Jaime really should not have talked about their mother in front of twins. NOR should Kate have performed nor said ALL the things she said like she did in front of them. Both is damaging to the kids. Kate is more damaging then all of them put together. God help those kids.
I've been reading about other's experiences with camping and RV'ing across country that pretty much all sounded nowhere near as pampered and supported as Kate's, and I have a couple questions.
Is it hard to find shower facilities? I couldn't imagine all the kids and Kate showering off that awful sludge in the RV's. I mean, that was a mess!
Secondly, Kate appeared like she had at least one full on blow-out of her hair and make-up. Anyone else find that at times her hair looked absolutely sleek and straight, like way to nice for camping? (I'm thinking of the hissy-fit can't get wet rafting adventure and the pizza flip out).

I think having Jamie there opened Ashley's eyes...that Ashley was being treated abusively.
And enabled Ashley to stand up for herself. She's young, and Kate never takes no for an answer. Ashley probably didn't realize that she didn't have to be a doormat.
Funny how Kate was wound up about "everyone" talking behind her back, i.e. to the camera, yet that's what Kate does all the time to people.

I went through the tweets to see what people were saying. I must say those fans surely do NOT disappoint. They are all delusional. ALL OF THEM.

PRECISELY. Does the word LIAR come to mind? And, on another note, she is such a contradiction...she went INSANE over the pizza being handed to Steve w/o being wrapped in foil, yet she handed the cupcake BARE-HANDED to the set-up guy in the cupcake episode, then went back and exchanged it for another gluten-free one, also BARE-HANDED, and handed it to him. There are health regulations about doing that in a commercial kitchen, Kate, but not on a camping trip. But, I forget that her Holiness has no germs.

I think Mady's apology is so sad. Can you imagine how guilty she feels about this? As a direct result of her eating the pizza AND handing it to Steve with her hands, Ashely ended up leaving!
I was also pissed off at Steve for standing there letting Kate go on and on about the pizza. All he had to say was he didn't want the damn pizza and the issue would have been over. But he let Kate go on and on about HIS pizza. Who does that? Evidentally he even went so far as to take the pizza from Mady! I mean...really? He acted like a spoiled kid himself. I can imagine him saying "Boo hoo...someone ate my pizza, give it to me!
That whole scene was ridiculous on so many levels. Food seems to be a big deal with Kate. Almost all the pictures she's posted on twitter are of FOOD! She has meltdowns over FOOD. FOOD is a big part of her life. I think it's very telling.
On the rapids ride: Does this make sense to ANYONE? She is so stupid. Going on water first of all and don't want to get wet? Not only that it was because she had been filthy for too long? This makes NO SENSE.

On the raft operator: HE was in charge. She was telling him what to do. "make this raft go staight, i am not kidding" I would have told the kids to have fun too, she was trying as usual to spoil it all. GEEZ

As I surmised upthread, I think Kate got a nice long shower, make up and blow out a handful of times on their trip, and she didn't want to get wet. Very different from waking up in the morning and going for a run in the rain, which can be very refreshing, actually!
Oh, Kate should be forewarned that if we are both in the ocean, she should stay way upstream from me, because I "smile" in the ocean!

When little Mady cried her apology there was such desperation, scared, upset all at the same time. I can still hear her. That was inexcusable of Kate. Just inexcusable.
The reason reality shows are so profitable is that the rights aren't owned by the participants. K8 and Jon got paid upfront. No residuals, nothing from overseas, nothing from DVDs.
What's worst about this situation is that now TLC owns every piece of film recorded. For the rest of history, they can make anything they want to from those tapes, without permission from K8, Jon or the children.
TLC wants to make a show called "Potty-Time Special" featuring the small children? No problem! "Kate Scream Fest"? Ditto. "Twins Fight, Cry and Breakdown"? No problem there, either. "Tups Hit and Scream"? You get the point.
Those children have been sold down the river much further than most people realize.
Twitter feed was interesting last night. It looked as if these last two episodes have caused scales to fall from more than a few eyes.
Yeah, funny thing is, Steve was never shown eating the slice of pizza or even having the pizza in his hand. Do you think there's something bad that happened off camera? He was shown just standing off in the background. I thought it odd that he was not holding the pizza if Mady had just handed it to him and Kate was yelling about it.
Comments about a child's weight are generally no going to be allowed. Please be sensitive.
Kate thought the river raft operator undermined her parental authority? What an idiot. He's taking you SAFELY through upper class rapids and Kate's going to tell him what to do?

Well, I think that it's fair to say that episode was one for the books.
I read enough comments here, on Twitter, and the other blogs to come to the conclusion that Kate needs to be mentally evaluated.
Her extreme highs & lows & over reactions are dizzying to say the least.
If this is not addressed soon, odds are that her children are going to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder.
Kate, leave your children with your mother or Jon- and seek treatment NOW!
I had said that I didn't care what Kate did as long as the kids weren't involved, but I changed my mind. No one that abusive to adults NOR her own children should be on TV. She should NOT be rewarded with a show or being on a show. She should NOT be anywhere in the public eye where these deluded tweens and adults can make her a role model. She really needs psychiatric help. Serious help.

No Regrets - I fear for them too. Watching her lash out between the RVs last night was like seeing a wild boar captured in a pen. She was babbling insanely and couldn't find words to describe her rage. What does she do at home when there's no cameras around. It's truly frightening to think what those kids are going through at home when she's manic like that.
AUNTIEANN.. You can SEE and HEAR the fear they have of her. She is a real loose cannon. And I think she is about to blow all the way. For her to come unglued as much as she does over the most trivial bs, is really a sight to see. I have never been more disgusted with her as I am now. And she is just twittering away, with her delusional fans sucking up how wonderful she is, what a super mom she is, how they would act the same way. I am stunned at just how many dumb people there are out there.
Kate - I don't know about you, but in my mind, traveling to Australia was a "posh" vacation. If by "posh" you mean no kids, then...okay?!?
$100 for organic chicken isn't out of the range of possibility. A flat of 12 chicken breasts at Costco (non-organic Foster Farms) runs me $18-20 and I'm not sure, but I suspect she was feeding the crew as well. But yes, as I said earlier, marinating the chicken in BBQ sauce overnight in the fridge is only going to make them taste even better (if, as was said, she doesn't burn them again, although it sounded like Steve was doing the cooking).
Re: the Pizza - Kate later clarified that she had planned that the adults would have the pizza, the kids would have the mac and cheese and there were salads for whomever wanted one. When Jaime and Kate let the kids eat the pizza, they messed up her carefully organized lunch menu.
And finally re: the bathroom/shower situation - most campgrounds, especially RV ones, have communal bathrooms and showers. There are individual stalls with doors that close. So yes, I'm sure the kids were showering at the campgrounds. Kate probably showered in the RV, although the campground shower would have better water pressure. Most campgrounds also have stores and do have take out menus.
When we go camping, it's not nearly so "posh". We're in tents, I only pack what will last in the cooler for a few days and I go into town and replenish our supplies as needed if we're there longer than a weekend.
This was truly a throw Kate under the bus episode because frankly TLC knows by now that Kate is not a camper. This trip was doomed before it even started.

Kate must have said "mastermind" or "masterminded" more than a dozen times on this episode. She was referring to her so-called meal planning & organization and having to be the mastermind of everything. That was why she went ape-shit over not only ordering the pizza, but the consuming of it at a later point. Ordering pizza was Ashley's idea; therefore, in Kate's mind (pardon me, MASTERmind) a horribleish idea. Which actually, when on vacation, isn't that part of the fun; trying a new place to eat/rolling with the punches? What Kate calls being a mastermind, most people would call being a control freak.
TLC Stinks - maybe he was so famished, he scarfed it down in one or two bites? My husband and son can do that.
One good thing came of this episode for me - my 8 year old daughter really wants to go to Yellowstone to see the wolves (wolves are her thing). We were planning a trip to Utah for my nephew's graduation and thought we might head up to Yellowstone afterwards. I contemplated renting an RV but was put off by the price and have been really weighing whether to spend that much money or not. Now I know I don't want to rent one if they break down that much!
Come on, you guys. K8's vacation isn't "posh" unless it's all beach, spas, and servants to wait (and fawn) on her hand and foot.
Oh, and it can't be posh if those bothersome children are nearby.

I have been thinking the same thing. I would have to be something about Katie Irene traveling for something, she is obsessed with being away from home. I wont be too surprised if her new show isnt even on TLC, they may have gladly cut her diva ass loose.
I know some will say 'as long as the kids arent being filmed'... and I agree with that to a point. But after what she has done to those kids every day of their lives, will any one of them ever be able to step in public without a peer saying "I saw what your asinine mother did again on TV last night"? Those kids should buy stock now in brown paper bags, because they are going to want a great many of them to put over their heads for a long long time.
OR ONCE I have to give props to Steve. He told her to "SIT DOWN" in the raft. In other words sit down and STFU and what he said about the picture and not going on a trip "with THESE people". haha PLUS it made her mad.

I'm not so sure that blow-outs and makeup had much to do with it, although that may have been a small part of it. I think it was a control thing. She didn't want to get wet, and she was holding that over Mr. Raft Man's head. It was just one more piece of her bitching mood, "listen to me, I'm in charge here. Don't get me wet." It was all about her. Getting wet was secondary. It was all about HER, and if she could use "getting wet" as the means to be center and forefront, that's what she was going to do. I think that secretly she DID want to get wet, just so she had something to whine about.
She wanted to claim that she didn't know exactly where they were going, and that nobody told her they were going into rapids. She spouted off to him about it. It reminded me of her sky jump when she told Brian that she needed more time. She wasn't ready, she had to "warm" up and she didn't care if it took all day.
She had to have control of both situations.
Yes, it may not be over for the crazy Ms. Gosselin. Her behavior is similar to some other reality show women. I think it is premature to celebrate anything.
Oh, and why exactly was Mady banished to the RV along with Cara? It was Cara who was making a scene about the "unnawears". Those poor kids! She tweeted that she watches the show all by her lonesome, that the kids are in bed? Wouldn't want to be those kids going to school this morning. Plus the only thing they get to watch in their rooms is their own episodes? I"d love to know if the kids think it's edited or that IT ALL REALLY HAPPENED.

Depends on the laws in that area and wording in the divorce. I would think they would need consent in most/all states but many take off and end up arrested for not complying with the law if they can be found.
In Wis. there was a limit of 90 miles but could request more from judge if you could prove that it was going to better the child's life. (better job for example)

It has nothing to do with security or protecting Kate or the kids. His job is to protect fans and non-fans (and the paps) from Kate, not the other way around. He has to keep her anger in check. That's why it was so funny on the RV trip to see her go off like she did. He just let her go...

As a kid growing up with a mother like Kate, I can only imagine how much a kid blames themselves for mommy's meltdowns. If only I hadn't done this or that or helped, mommy wouldn't have gone nuts.

I see your point and agree to a certain extent. I have SEEN what this does to kids to have others talk about their parents to them, it is harmful to kids. I am just a strong believer that this should always be a big no no around children. I am sure that Ashley is NOT the first to say something in front of them but I still think it's not wise to do this. Regardless what Kate is, she is still the mother, and this can tear at their loyalties.
The PRODUCER was forcing the issue in front of the twins, by asking Ashley those questions. They are so vile to do this. They knew what they were doing and didn't care.

In the past, I have had trouble watching even the little clips of Kate. Her voice just grates on my nerves, not to mention her behavior, but I will confess to taping the repeat and watching it this morning. I have not watched an episode since the Utah ski trip, when she had that completely uncalled for meltdown on the plane in front of her kids. That was my AHHH HAAAA moment, that she is just not right.
After reading about last weeks fiasco, I wanted to see her get what she so deserves. I applaud, Steve, Jamie, Ashley, the production assistant and the Raft Guide for putting her "highness" in her place!!! Those were definite highlights along with the looks on her face, when no one cared what she had to say.
The things that bothered me most in this episode were how she constantly referred to her kids, as burdens. Like she was the helper, not the mother. The other part that really bothered me was the pizza incident when she kept referring to Mady as "disgusting" and "filthy". How the hell does she think that makes a 10 year old feel? Unbelievable episode. It is the real reality. I am convinced this is the TRUE Kate and ALL the other episodes were edited to take out most of the bad parts. She is evil and nasty and TLC was sick of trying to hide it. I really hope this is the end of her media "career". I pray for those kids. No one deserves her psychotic behavior. Everyday must be a nightmare for them.

Depends on the laws in that area and wording in the divorce. I would think they would need consent in most/all states but many take off and end up arrested for not complying with the law if they can be found.
In Wis. there was a limit of 90 miles but could request more from judge if you could prove that it was going to better the child's life. (better job for example)

I watched for the first time in months - Kate's behaviour was cruel, immature and disturbing. Has she become worse? Some how I doubt it - I think the producers had nothing to lose, so they showed her as she really is - as she has been all along.
In the span of a few days, on a trip any family would have loved to have lavished on them, Kate Gosselin alienated her children, their devoted nanny, her best (paid) friend and her kids, her bodyguard/companion/minder, the river raft guy, the RV drivers, and probably various and sundry others along the way. In spite of all those people she treated so badly, she still thinks the problem is them and not her.
It makes no difference the situation this woman is placed in - she is NEVER happy and, by extension, chooses to make every one else around her miserable. The sooner she is forever off TV, the better. She is toxic, plain and simple.

Yes after the Grand Canyon they wound up staying for a few days in Las Vegas at a posh hotel.
The kicker is that the hotel they were at is not known to be kid friendly, and when you are traveling with 11 kids you would think that this be would be a consideration.
But since it is always ALL about Kate, she got to stay where she wanted even though I know the kids would have preferred to stay at Circus Circus (where they have an inside circus acts and a huge arcade area) or at the Excalibur. Two hotels that are most definitely kid friendly and in Las Vegas.

Question for campers and RV'ers said...
I've been reading about other's experiences with camping and RV'ing across country that pretty much all sounded nowhere near as pampered and supported as Kate's, and I have a couple questions.
Is it hard to find shower facilities? I couldn't imagine all the kids and Kate showering off that awful sludge in the RV's. I mean, that was a mess!
Secondly, Kate appeared like she had at least one full on blow-out of her hair and make-up. Anyone else find that at times her hair looked absolutely sleek and straight, like way to nice for camping? (I'm thinking of the hissy-fit can't get wet rafting adventure and the pizza flip out).

Other than 'primitive' campgrounds you will find shower facilities at campgrounds everywhere. They're not always fancy, but they're available and you can bet that they did NOT shower that sludge/mud off in the RVs. I have no doubt that Kate had her hair done while they were on the road and I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't done in a hotel room where she could be pampered for at least a few hours.

My mom was a stickler for exact dinner times. I can remember coming home from school, absolutely starving, and I would have to wait until 6pm for dinner. No snack. No nothing. It most definitely has created food issues in my life. I eat what I want now, irregardless of the consequences. My cholesterol is high. My blood pressure is high. I can't seem to stick to a healthy diet because the old deprivation issues rear their ugly head. If I had been allowed to snack and to eat when I was hungry, I wouldn't be placing such an enormous value on food now.

If it was all for the ratings, then TLC would have shown the RV episodes prior to making the decision to cancel the show. I'm guessing that the TLC and the crew reached their limits on this trip and the crew threatened mutiny re: future episodes.
My heart goes out to all the children but Mady and Cara in particular. The anguish on their faces and in their voices (as shown in the preview) is heart-breaking. I feel that they've suffered the most emotional abuse as they were pushed so quickly into the role of second-class citizens when the tups were born.
It is unconscionable what TLC and Kate have done to this family, all for the almighty dollar.

We all know that everyone can see anyone's tweets (unless they're private). If they're blocked, all they have to do is address a tweet to a fan and include Kate's ID and both of them will get it. It may look like the blocked non-fans are harassing fans, but they have to include the fan in the tweet to Kate to ensure she gets them.
Kate tweeted that she saw the RV episodes in advance (as usual) but the kids have not seen them yet. I hope no one at school mentions to them about how badly Kate and Cara acted. Admin--I have seen someone like Kate. I am a teacher, and the woman I did student teaching with had the exact same personality/personality disorder as she has.
1. Carrying on about how "organized" they were (and using that word again and again. I can still hear her nasal screech when she says "organized."
2. Throwing a fit--I mean, like Donald Duck throwing a tantrum--if something wasn't organized. My cooperating teacher went off on a freshman once because the guidance counselor put him in her homeroom when she didn't have enough desks. My teacher cursed in the teacher's room as well, but if Kate does, it's edited (not even bleeped.)
3. Claiming to do a lot of work when they didn't. My teacher bragged about how she came in early every day. She spent her "early time" hanging out with her friends, not prepping for class.
4. Claiming that someone didn't offer to help her, didn't ask her enough questions, etc.
Watching Kate, it's like I'm back in time. Whatever personality disorder this is, I hope someone identifies it and finds a cure. But here are two people with the same personality.
The Talk has officially announced the two permanent replacements are Molly Shannon and Sheryle Underwood. Yeah, no Kate Gosselin. I don't know if she will fill in as a co-host but my guess is no. Especially after the last 2 weeks of bitchy performance from her.
I also agree that this trip was the straw that broke the camel's back w/ TLC, its producers, and crew, and that TLC was flat out tired of covering for Kate's diva tirades and decided to let it all hang out during the RV trip. Also interesting is that Steve has only been seen in fleeting moments in the past, but is a major player in these last two episodes. I think TLC is also tired of covering up the Kate/Steve fiasco, as well as supporting it on their dime, and also let that fly. Good for TLC for opening the blinds--it was beyond time to do so.

This is what I mean. Beth, I have to apologize you have to deal with such a difficult food proble I really do. Food is one of those things that people don't realize the impact later in life.
But I also understand parents who do not give their children snacks to not spoil their dinner or they make them eat at certain times I do, cannot say I agree though.
A woman I knew who was quite a bit overweight died in her sleep a few years ago, because of her weight. Her only daughter at a church function I watched her tell her daughter she could share her taco with her but nothing more. I asked the woman why and her mother replied, "because I don't want her fat like me."
I pray one day Kate see's damage she may have started with all this nonsense of having to be so rigid with food, the time you have to eat. It does create problems, clearly and for no good reason either.

It had to be bad for Ashley to quit after five years. You can't really "throw Kate under the bus" if she didn't give you more than 10% decent footage to work with.
You know who I wished could have been a part of this live tweeting party...the production crew, Ashley, and Jamie. I'm sure they had behind the scenes info viewers would need too.
Sadly, those confidentiality agreements allow Kate to twist the truth in her favor, with no fear that others will speak up.

UH, what episode was this moron watching? Ashley clearly states, both in the promo and in the episode that she would "die" for these kids, but cannot stand one more minute with THAT WOMAN. Meaning KATE!!!!! So, they do leave HER, you idiot, not the KIDS! The kids are just poor bystanders in all of Kate's dysfunction. Kate making it sound like people leave her because of the kids is an insult to anyone with common sense! I am sure most people are there FOR the kids, in SPITE of Kate! Ashley put up with 5 years of abuse and degrading from Kate. Kate as much as admitted she wasn't always nice to Ashley, but said that Ashley understood her stress. Ashley stuck it out for the kids. I am glad Ashley and Jamie joined forces and stood up to the bitch. She will be a lonely, lonely woman one day. As it is, all she has now is 8 kids she ignores and her ridiculous flock of twits.

Charlez, what you described above is the classic go-to manuever from the narcissist playbook. They criticize and/or tell you how the task you are doing is wrong, their way is better or they just flat out tell you because you're doing it all wrong, just let them do it. After awhile you get sick of the criticism so you don't bother to help, walking right into the trap. You've just let the narcissist not only accuse you of never helping, they are also the put-upon martyr (or mastermind :( because they HAVE to do EVERYTHING THEMSELVES and no one ever offers to help. Booooooohoooooooo.....
Kate is a mean, selfish woman. She may even have a "personality disorder" that is undiagnosed. Something is definitely wrong, very wrong. If she has to return to a more normal life, she may have a huge breakdown. Maybe that is what she needs. It's called "hitting rock bottom." Only way for some people to change. TLC may have edited for drama, but I call "BS" on that excuse. Ugly, Kate, is ugly. I had to stop watching some time ago. Sounds like this will be a rough one for Admin to watch and review.

That was absolutely priceless. You could see her clenching her jaw, trying hard not to lash out at him. She was definitely holding back on exploding in rage. You could see the wheels turning in her head - what she wanted to say was that he was paid to do his job, she ordered him to do it and he refused.

I think Kate takes climactic pleasure watching Stevie delete photos from innocent bystander cameras. It's been going on for over three years. Having that kind of power over someone (even by proxy) is exactly the kind of validation Kate craves, proof to herself that she is a stah. When Steve told her no, I bet her simmering rage stemmed from the realization that she is on the way to oblivion-ville.
What I'm gathering from these comments about the show is that nobody gave a shit about Kate or her diva demands. I am convinced even more than ever that Kate has known for some months that the show was being canceled. Steve didn't kiss her ass, Jamie and Ashley stood up for themselves and the camermen showed her no mercy whatsoever. It seems like they were going through the motions to get the hell out of there so they could move on and move out of Kate's life.

I wonder if this big surprise, is Twisted Kate is goin to air? After all Kate is still under contract with TLC, till Feb 2012. And if Kate had TLC promise of a TV show, in her contract, they are contract bond to give her that show(no matter how long or short it is), within the contract time. Perhaps that is why she is also going on the Today show. It strikes me odd that Kate is really not that upset about the show being canceled. Cause, if she has something in the bag or on the stove cooking, of course she is not worried that the show was canceled. Just a thought.
I don't think it matters if Kate has some new "project" coming on television. It won't take it long to tank. People never tuned in to watch her, they tuned in to watch the kids. And her 600 fans (I'm being generous) aren't enough to keep her relevant.

To Kate, mothering is all about control. It's a cruel, senseless type of control. She doesn't seem to feel much compassion for her kids, and instead it’s all about the rules...her rigid & often senseless, unnecessary rules. Over time, it’s become clear that some of the kids are mirroring Kate's behavior patterns. There are 2 that are prominently doing this, but I won’t name them. And several of them mouth off to Kate....which happened often. So Kate’s parenting style is not effective. It was striking how well behaved Jamie's kids were, in comparison to the Gosselin kids.
Where are you getting the impression she is not upset about the show being cancelled?

I've watched and taught 25-30 kids 5 days a week for 16 years. Not one time have I ever acted like Kate.
Neither does Michelle Duggar who has 3x's the amount of kids Kate has.
Now, on the other hand, maybe those particular 8 kids are difficult, seeing as how they were raised and had an unstable fit-thrower as their primary role model. SHE modeled that bad behavior for them and then wonders why the exasperate her.
But I do think I could handle those 8 kids MUCH MUCH better than she ever could.

Would it not have made better sense for kate to have brought her other bestest friend, Gina,Steve's wife, to help,instead of bringing Jamie, who had 3 kids to add to the 8? If Gina and Steve really are still together, and nothing is going on between kate and Steve, wouldn't it have been a way to pay an adult friend,who had no kids to bring along,and put to rest the rumors of Steve being with kate? Their sons are plenty old enough to not need a baby-sitter for them. Wonder why it did not happen like that?

Didn't watch, so I'm not quite understanding this whole drama over lunch/pizza. Seems like a whole bunch of manufactured conflict to me. Unless TLC suddenly stopped footing the bill for Craft Services, there would be *no* shortage of food on that "set." Just more evidence that this show has run its course. Fighting over a slice of pizza? Really. Riveting television.
Did anyone else get a good laugh when Kate said they do not get posh vacations? I think what she meant to say is "you have no idea how hard it was for me to fake being in love with Jon, to say those vows awn tv just to get that free Hawaii resort package for my kids. Everything I do is for my kids. I pretended to enjoy snow just to get Utah for my kids. I pretended we'd always return to Baldhead Island just to get that free beach house trip for my kids. I am constantly doing and saying things that make me look like a liar and a jerk just to score free stuff for my kids. Cause TLC does not provide free stuff. If a sponsor cares to put their product awn me or awn my kids, that is different, yes, we get free stuff, but TLC does not gift us. They barely pay us." Yup, I can just hear Kate rationalizing this.
Oh and remember, the producer asked the kids who slept in which RV and everyone but Steve, Clarke and the rest of the crew were accounted for, which tells me they had their own RV and did not mingle with the 'stah'.

Other than the comment I made when I said "laugh"!! I was clueless to where I was fighting with anyone. My feeling were hurt and I got defensive and I'm sorry.

I remember in one episode, years ago, when one of the twins was acting up in a park. Jon took her aside, knelt down in front of her and talked to her. We have no idea what he said to her, but she came back and was ready to behave better. I think that was Jon's main parenting tool - talking calmly yet firmly. I think he raised his voice on occasion, but I honestly saw that as the only way he could get their attention at that moment - lots and lots of noise, crying, screaming going on all the time.

After reading more of the comments made today, Kate won't have much of a tv career if she's difficult to work with, especially for the film crew. You can't be a diva while you're trying to work your way up in Hollywood. Word spreads quickly and won't help for future gigs.
I have a new favorite show, Suits, and Donna, secretary/executive assistant to high-powered lawyer Harvey, recently had such a great line: "You know how I judge a man's character. Not by how he treats his equals, but by how he treats the underlings."
Tony, Brad the SkyWalk guy, the raft guide, the production assistants/crew, Ashley, Jamie, etc...Kate probably thinks it's okay to treat these people like servants because she's the star. Even more so if you're the hired help. The people she's met with on these trips, she doesn't even bother to call them by their first name but by their profession. She doesn't show them respect or appreciate what people have done to help or entertain her. As long as they serve her purpose.
I don't need to step into Kate's shoes before I can make an opinion of her. Kate's actions speak louder than words.

There are times when I will pack lunches the night before. Peanut butter and jelly, crackers, juice boxes and fruit do no need refrigeration.

I would have thought since Kate claims to be so over-organized she would not have a change to meltdown in such a...well, rather embarrassing way. I am sure if any of us were ever on TV we would put our behavior in check! I for one can tell you right now, I am not always organized that's for sure but I have never melted down over forgetting something, packing something. I think Kate enjoys just playing it up I suppose. It's just very sad she claims to be positive and organized when her behavior seen shows almost the entire opposite. Whatever I guess.

Oh Admin, you know how much I love this blog. Lately, there have been SO many comments that it's nearly impossible to keep up. Unfortunately, I have only had the time to pop in here and there for a few minutes the last couple of weeks. Yet, every time I do, I'm just seeing FAR more drama than ever before. Who has the time or patience to even read all that, let alone try to figure it out? What's going on here lately since becoming unmoderated?
When I was teaching, I had 20 special ed. students (mostly with learning disabilities and/or severe behavioral problems) in my classroom. I did have a couple of aides, but not enough. In regular classrooms, I had as many as 40 kids at a time and managed quite well, thank you very much. Of course, it's not like having them 24/7, but still, 8 kids at a time is not that difficult to manage if you bother to teach them the basics of interpersonal relationships and acceptable behavior. The only reason Kate's brood is so difficult manage is because she's failed in her responsibility to teach them proper behavior.

You know what - I get as tired reading these complaints as some do about reading personal stories. If one doesn't like it, they have the option of starting his/her own blog, moderating it and controlling the contents thereof.
Or - the person can leave entirely and find another blog where he/she is more comfortable and can actually contribute to the discussions without complaining. Cyberspace is a wide, wide world with something for everyone!

My theory on Steve...I don't think they ever had an affair or anything close to it, although I'm sure she wishes it were otherwise. I think he was hired at one time to be a bodyguard when she was getting threats. She liked him, probably liked the idea of a "bodyguard" and TLC discovered he could keep her under control. She pitches a fit that she needs him specifically, TLC wants to keep their cash cow in line so they make him an offer he can't refuse. They're probably paying him really big bucks to keep her out of trouble with the general public. He sucks is up because with the big money he's making he can either retire early, or start his own company. If he is planning to start his own security company, don't expect him to say anything really bad about her even if he would want to.
Handling the pizza and handling the cupcakes -- didn't Kate hand the hunk a cupcake that was baked in either paper or foil? She never handled the bare cupcake, or touch the icing, did she?

I agree it's getting to be too much. While the content of the comments may be great, the volume prevents them being read and digested and all replied to with equal quality - which is the problem. Too many comments and less quality.

readerlady, teachers and daycare workers are probably one of the few that can really relate to Kate's position of having 8 kids to deal with.
If Kate were to volunteer at her kids' school and just observe how some great teachers handle their class, she might pick up a couple of tips on discipline and management. Her kids' previous classroom teachers probably have some great input on what works with the Gosselin kids to manage their behavior. Notice I said 'just observe' since I know I'd get complaints about Kate working with other kids. She could quietly sit in the back, filing papers or something, and occasionally watch the teacher in action.

It feels like I'm in a time warp and I'm reliving the old days at the blog that rhymes with city except for longer posts.
This is just my opinion. I have always thought Kate and Rat Claws were having an affair. Why else would she have dumped Jon just as they were moving?
It was her diabolical plan. The body language said volumes. I do think the relationship between Kate and Steve has cooled (frozen). But??? If I am wrong, where is Gina? Where are his children? Who goes to Australia and New Zealand without including the family? His own dime. No way would I have left my family out of that opportunity.
If Kate and Steve are or were boinking it will come out. Jon knows, Gina knows, the Gosselin children know. The crew knows. All lies are uncovered.

TLC Ship is Sinking, wouldn't it be very nice if Kate did ANY kind of volunteering at the kids her 8 kids attend? In a classroom, in the lunch room, in the gym, in the library, for a bake sale or car wash.... anything. Pitch in, be a part of the school community, get to know people your kids know, find out the workings of the school. Giving to others is really the best possible way to get your focus off yourself.
Unless it's being taped for a TV show, of course.
And maybe for this particular parent, she would see it as an opportunity to give ORDERS to others. Oh well.

Let's face it, Kate was completely ballistic and disgustingly rude to EVERYONE on this trip, never to forget the Skywalk, camping tip with the Palins (poor Piper), rude to the guy who installed the solar panels, to the tour guide in Australia.. the list goes on and on and on... Pretty much everyone who she considers "below" her and of course included in this equation if the "paid help" who she loves (Jamie and Ashley)- as long as they do exactly what she tells them without complaint or question. Never mind how she treated Jon- who here would have survived 10 years with that nasty, heartless, shrew? Jon got away - lucky him. But the most disgusting abuse is how she treats her kids, puts them on display for her own gratification and spends as little time as possible with them, using hired help as much as possible. The G8 are not babies, there is no reason she could not parent them on her own. The problem is this woman was never meant to be a mother. She is not capable of EVER putting someone before her self x 8.
I think the most recent episodes exposed what these kids are exposed to on a regular basis. If she was this bad with the cameras rolling, I can only imagine what goes on when she is behind closed doors. I really do fear for them, especially if no other jobs come along for her. She WILL take her anger out on them- it is part of her makeup. There were several comments form the adults about the kids' behavior and I don't think they were saying it to be mean. I think we know the tip of the iceberg but at least 4-5 of those kids are exhibiting behaviors that are very troubling. I am sure Kate threatens them on how to behave on film, and still a lot of the problems are coming through on film. I am not blaming the kids, but noting that I believe a lot of damage has been done to them already, and this woman will never get help for them unless forced to do so (ie- the expulsions). Who could live with Kate and come out whole?
I hope to God Cara can move in with Jon if this is best for her. And would not be surprised if some of the others try to follow in her foot steps if she succeeds. God knows what Kate tells the kids they can and can not discuss with Jon, but at some point, the dam will burst as you can only put so much pressure and so many unrealistic expectations on a kid before they give up or burst. Sorry so long. I just happen to detest disgustingly selfish people with 8 kids who always put themselves first and refuse to ever acknowledge their many flaws.

WOW, I can't imagine the planning and REAL organization that is going into pulling off that trip, but I have no doubt they're carrying it out with love and patience; with everyone pitching in to make the experience educational and meaningful to all. You can bet this family won't waste a minute of the opportunities the trip is providing them - the polar opposite of what Kate does with her family.

(I know it's probably still edible. But sell-by date is something I take very seriously and will not purchase a product anywhere near it - except bread, which I freeze.)

The way Kate carries on you know I just don't think she feels she would have time to do any volunteer work at the school her children attend. What the schooling being an hour or so out of her way. In between Kate's laundry, organic cooking, yard work, 10.5 mile runs in the rain and rationing out food to her 8 children. Somehow I just don't think Kate thinking she would have time to participate in a bake sale, chaperone a class field trip, be a room mom or fill in on a day of serving lunch. I think Kate almost believes she has no time to do anything else because she has 8 children. If we all had a dollar for every time Kate complained about having 8 children we'd all be fairly well off maybe you think? And she doesn't come off all that...kind or interested or warm too often to her own kids but who knows she seems to like other people's kids.
Kate and the RV trip just made the Ridiculist on Anderson Cooper. Anyone else see it?

Of the various trips that I've been on in my life, both before I even met my husband (trips with friends) and since (with him alone, and now with kids), the absolute BEST stories and laughs are from some crazy mishaps we've had in our travels. The things that went wrong seem to be the things that everyone remembers the most, telling the stories over and over again through the years, and laughing harder every time.
The problem is, Khate really cannot just let loose and enjoy the moment ever, even when it's good. Sadly, (for the kids), she isn't the kind of person that can laugh when things aren't going as planned. That's a shame, really. Life is so much less stressful when you can laugh even when it gets messy. It sure makes things a LOT easier on the kids, too.
Was Jamie's comment about Steve, "It's all about him, isn't it?" from the internet clip of the pizza argument included in the actual airing?
Someone on another Gosselin blog made a comment that the internet clip showed more than the episode, so was it edited out?

Brownlow is super annoying, but Kate totally led her on. She actually asked her to pick up the Sobe and organic cereal and said whe didn't care about the sell-by date. To no one's surprise, now Kate is blowing her off. These sheeple never learn. It's pathetic.

As for Kate's twatters daring anyone else to successfully camp with/deal with lots of kids and not lose it, I'd like to offer the following:
1. I was a high school and middle school teacher for many years (I am now a district-level administrator). I handled 125 teenagers a day, every day. My classroom management style was so effective, new teachers were sent for two days to observe me. I'm not trying to brag here, but there ARE people in the world who can successfully manage loads of kids. I was very respectful, loved my students, and had high expectations. They were respectful in kind. Might I add I always taught high-poverty inner-city students.
2. I camped for 16 days and 6000 miles with my child and two other adults in a conversion van (NOT a luxury RV) and we primitive camped (no electric at all) each night in a tent and sleeping bags. We cooked our meals over campfires or we made sandwiches. We saw 9 western states and all the beauty our eyes and souls could hold. The night we camped near the south rim of the Grand Canyon, we took the moon roof off the tent and my then 9 year old daughter and I laid there whispering to each other. We saw a shooting star and made wishes. We watched the moon cross the sky, east to west. It was July, but we could see our breath--33 degrees. We snuggled to keep warm and giggled the night away, and it's one of my VERY favorite memories.
No one acted like a spoiled brat like you did. No one left to fly home early. No one pitched monster fits over every little thing. No one cared what we ate, as long as we ATE. We wore whatever we pulled out of our bag that morning. We showered in the campsite showers, when they had them (state parks often did not have them). IT WAS WONDERFUL!!!
So yeah, I've done and handled more than Kate for sure and did it better than she has ever done, but I'm not a narcissistic micromanaging control freak from hell. That stuff tends to get in the way. ;)
I am worried for Cara. A 10 year old should not be breaking down and literally sobbing so often. She also did when Khate was leaving for just a day for her birthday. It used to be Mady was the twin whom had the most disturbing behavior, but from the recaps and discussions I've read here, it seems like she has both calmed down and become more mature, and it's Cara whom is back sliding.

I have been thinking the same thing! Katie Irene Gosselin will never allow expired food in her house! (Except it's free so it might be "good enough" for the kids if she doles it out 1/4 cup at a time?) I dont follow the twit stuff too much so I am not sure how this LowBrown girl got the impression that Kate was eager for expired cereal, but the whole thing is starting to sound like a "Movie of the Week"; we are all just waiting for the denouement of how the unstable stalker-chic finally resolves it all.
This is a gal who runs 'mentoring' groups from her house? Sounds like a 20 year old who aged out of her mental health day-treatment programs for troubled teens, and now is trying to be the 'provider', instead of the receiver, of counseling services.

You're right. She seldom does any of those things. Kate uses the eight kids as an excuse. She's too busy to do volunteer work or participate in fund-raising. When she did chaperone the kids' annual field trip, all she did was tweet complaints how boring it was and that it was a mosquito field. What parents and teachers want to deal with that? Better just leave her at home...
By the way, there is a Casey Kreider who showed up on Twitter today as a defending relative. Tweeters are calling her a fake. There IS a Casey Kreider in Elizabethtown, but whether it's the same one, or if she's a relative, I don't have a clue. Kreiders are a dime a dozen in the county, but a CASEY Kreider in this town isn't a run-of-the-mill name. It's a small town.

If she were truly a friend, wouldn't you think that Brownlow wouldn't have to keep begging for Kate to DM her and set up a delivery date?
