You don't decide to just do them, you have to have a qualifying from another event, meaning you have to run a marathon and beat a certain time to run those events. I wouldn't qualify either, to be fair. My friend missed qualifying for Boston by 18 seconds! She was so upset!

Is this really a business venture for her or just a way to share information? Kate is actually in a better position than normal "mediocre" people to make money off her site, if she invested in more qualified and experienced professionals to help her with her site.
I know I gave her grief about getting content up on her site, but I'd rather she only posted weekly with quality content than some daily generic posts (as someone mentioned previously).
Today's blog went on about whining and choosing between being a quitter or just doing it. I'm sure there are actual runners who've hit that road-block and found ways to overcome it. Take a break from running. Maybe it's a different routine or an alternate exercise that will still help in preparation for this half-marathon she mentions every now and then. That would have been more interesting and helpful.

Actually I'd much prefer this nonsense post about running from Kate rather than some post telling me how I should run.
Kate herself admits she's never had a trainer. She's proud of that but personally I think you should at least talk to an expert on running before making it a lifestyle. It may seem like an easy sport but not at all. The only thing that's easy about it is hurting yourself. I ran cross country for a couple seasons in high school but running is really not my thing, but boy was I surprised at all the things I was doing wrong when running thanks to help from my coaches to correct bad habits.
The point being Kate doesn't have an ounce of authority to tell us how we should run when she basically never had any instruction herself.
I've never had a chess lesson and I could teach someone how to play chess, but I have no business giving chess lessons.

A few years ago around noontime I was driving into my community and only going 20mph. Deer are common at night but not usually during the day, but low and behold I spotted 2 adult deer ahead of me on the left shoulder in the brush. As I got closer I saw one cross the road and then I only saw a blur and heard a BANG on the passenger side of the car.
I pulled to the shoulder and the cars behind me stopped, too and they told me what happened. The second full size deer LEAPED OVER the car and one of it's hind hoofs hit the side view mirror which shattered and broke off. I'm so lucky it didn't land on the hood or windshield and join me in the front seat.
Kate is very lucky that the only damage she's done with her speeding has been to her bank account because driving can be dangerous. IF she truly cares about her kids growing up with her in their lives she'll slow the heck down.
Admin, you nailed it. Kate doesn't have an ounce of authority. She's sort of indicated she wants to run 10 miles several times a week. Heavy duty runners don't even do that unless they're training. Running is hard on your body, especially if it's not getting the proper nourishment for such duration/endurance. It needs fuel. And it needs cross-training: cycling, elliptical, weight work, anything but just running all the time. I'm no expert but that much I know. My body responds so much better when I mix things up. Running can be so boring all the time!

When I am under the weather (which is a fair amount I have to say..I'm disabled as I mentioned earlier), I say something like I'm not quite 100%.
I thought this was a pretty common way to say you were not feeling well or not quite up to your full potential.
I've never heard anyone say they were not 100mph.
I've heard I'm not up to speed or I need to get up to speed, meaning they were trying to learn something new or coming in a project that was already started and needed to get caught up (for example).
Is this another free range (free reign)/berserk (bizarre) type thing or is this something people really say and I am just very sheltered?
My dad used to jog all the time and now? His knees are majorly screwed up. At some point he's going to need knee surgery, for now he's doing the cortisone shots to feel better.
There are a lot of doctors now who are recommending you do not make running your main sport. It's much better to mix in some swimming, cycling, weight training, with running thrown in only once a week, instead of running all the time.
Go ahead and run but people also need to be aware if it becomes a lifestyle, you are risking it doing a real number on your body.
I don't run anymore, ever, because I found it incredibly boring and because of risk of injury. I prefer just the gym now with a good netflix movie on my phone.
Oh, I have a deer story too! I was bicycling on a trail next to a rural highway. I was moving along at probably about 17-19 mph and I saw three deer run across the highway. Uh oh. Two of them leaped across the trail as well and ran into the woods. The third leaps ON to the trail and just stands there,watching me come. I realized then how fast your brain works. I was thinking, "What the hell are you doing? Keep jumping! OK, I am going to hit this deer and die. I wonder if anyone on the highway will see it happen. Nope, nobody coming. Some poor soul will find me on their way home and I might make them fall off their bike too." On and on. All this while trying to safely brake. The stupid thing just stood there and when I was a few feet away, leaped about 3 in the air and left. It was so scary!

I agree with most of what you posted.
But, the school has an obligation to uphold its own reputation, and the obligation to actually teach the children, and to help each of them to excel. That is not happening with the outcome, so far, concerning the G8.
Had this been a more ordinary family, perhaps a private conference would have ensued, and they would have politely been asked to leave.
IMHO: This school missed out on a golden opportunity to be one of the most sought after private institutions in the world. Thus, they dropped the ball either over the greed of money, or the famous family syndrome back fired miserably.
The youngest are not toddlers as their Mother has them, and the outside world believing, (her own words on K*8, and the use of high chairs at such a late age), which was never addressed by the school openly, or it would have ceased.
For the higher beings at the school to go along with this fiasco makes them look as guilty as both the Mother and Father. Kate Gosselin, is very uneducated and immature, but, the school authorities are not. The time to make a command decision has marched well past the passing point. There can be no disputing the G8, are highly immature and well behind other children of the same age, and may have special educational needs that are not being met.
Holding them back did not create a difference, and the school administrators allowed these children to be pulled from school on a contestant (no-real need) basis with no recourse. I know about the court. But, it is THEIR school.
Sorry, I stand by my original statement. I would never allow one of my children to attend this school, nor would I consider it a higher educational learning source. K&JG should have been told to come back when they got serious about all of her children's educational needs. Which they are not.

This made me chuckle. Just because the Gosselins go there they would be the most sought after private institution in the world??? Celebrity kids go to all kinds of different private schools around the country and it doesn't elevate them to the most sought after private school in the world. Most people really don't give a crap. I understand it's not NY or PA so maybe it's a bit more of a novelty, but after six years of this novelty I'm virtually certain that 99.9 percent of PA is done with her and her kids. That seems to be the "sediment" from the locals here. If anything I can see having celebrity kids there be a turnoff, I'm guessing a lot of people don't want to worry about other kids getting special treatment (oh you know like missing a bunch of school days for a VIP trip to Australia), or paparazzi showing up at bus stops (big no thanks, no way not around my kids), birthday party invitations with an entire film crew there, etc.

I just want to reiterate my point from last night regarding the parody video. While the parody of Kate is dead on accurate and very funny, the parodies of the kids are NEITHER. This video shows the kids cutting, pregnant,violent, writing death wishes, acting like a dunce.... How is that funny? It's one thing to make fun of a woman who is completely narcissistic and has made horrible choices for her children; it's quite another to make fun of children who have never had a choice.
I think Admin does run the best Gosselin blog on the web, hands down. That said, we all make mistakes once in a while. I really wish that video would come down. I guess I'm a bit surprised that more people aren't speaking up against it. Maybe some are by their silence on this post, and that's okay, too.
I think anyone who is a mother, aunt, mentor, etc., of children knows that every child is precious, and their potentials are never pre-determined by us mortals.

Chuckling here as well. It's not a boarding school. Families are not going to give up their homes and places in their own communities in this country and overseas to relocate to little old Lancaster County just because the Gosselins go to a private school in the area!
The school didn't drop the ball on anything and nothing backfired. There was not, nor is there, any master plan. Why in the world would it want to be subject to more attention when it's already had its share of dealing with this crap, as admin said? Attrition is low - waiting lists are long. It's not like the school is begging for students and needs the kind of attention that the Gosselins have given it. Enough is enough! It's existed for 103 years without being known as one of the most sought-after institutions in the world, and it will continue to go on long after the Gosselins are forgotten.
Another deer story. I was driving home from work a few years ago, at dusk, and passing the entrance to a state park. It was raining lightly, the roads were a bit slippery, so I wasn't driving as fast as usual. A huge buck came running out of the park, skidded on the road, and slid (!) into the front end of my car -- deer proceeded to dash across the highway and disappear up a hill. I had to phone AAA to come tow me because my frame was bent and the tire rim was bent and shoved out of alignment. Not to mention what it did to my heart rate LOL!

I agree with everything you've said. I just cannot imagine how much these kids will be hurt if they see this. I can't imagine how much teasing they will get by their classmates and friends who will see this. Yes, it depicts Kate as she is and it obviously took quite a bit of planning and time to film this, but it just sets these kids up for more bullying and teasing that may last for quite some time. OTHER KIDS WILL SEE THIS!
But the focus of this video is the kids. Cutting is not funny. Being a pregnant teen is not funny. A bullying Collin is not funny. A wild and punk Leah is not funny. I was disturbed the first time I saw the link posted on Twitter, and while others may strongly disagree, I really don't think it has any place here.

I like jogging and I'm getting back into it. I don't find it boring but I'm an introverted person and I love the time to let my mind wander. It can get addictive but only if you aren't abusing your body.
First of all, you have to get some good advice. I joined a running group for beginners and guest runners who were very accomplished and knowledgable about the sport led us in the right direction. I'm now a true believer in something called dynamic stretching, something I learned from the group. We meet two days a week for group runs and have one homework run with at least one day off between each run.
As far as ruining your joints, my weekly distance isn't enough to cause nearly as much of a problem as my increasing weight would cause. I've seen plenty of people at races who are in their sixties or older and still running for recreation.
My son had slipped capital femoral epiphysis (slipped growth plates) in both hips. He dislocated one hip when he was thirteen and both growth plates were pinned into place with a metal screw. We were warned that his cartiledge would wear out in his mid-life due to the alignment of the joint. He runs for soccer conditioning and completed a 10K race a year after his surgery with the blessing of his surgeon. At his last visit with the specialist, the muscle support around the joint from the running was so good the doctor expected him to delay having to get joint replacement in his forties to possibly his sixties. He recommended that the running continue.
The key is to be smart about it, gradually increase your distance over time, allow your body to recover after runs, feed your body the fuel it needs, use the appropriate footwear for your gait and treat injuries earlier rather than later. Many running injuries happen when someone decides to go from the couch to a marathon in six month, or thinks they should run every day, rain or shine, or thinks that they can sit at a desk all week and go out for a five mile run on the weekend.
Kate's advice, though, sucked. The best advice for a new runner is to check into local universities or junior colleges for a running class, join a running club, or visit a local running shoe store (the people who own them are often passionate about the sport). I've found that recreational runners love share information and encouragement with newbies.

And you made the point as well by saying there is a waiting list. A list of children who actually want to go to that school, who will be in attendance every day they can, and who have parents who are serious about them getting a high priced education. The G8 were merely taking up spaces.
You do the math. How many days did they miss from that school since they started, and it was tolerated? And how did someone like KG, who had no ties to the community at all, even get her children in that school? Oh yea. TLC. It was given to them, not earned. so it means nothing.
While I also think the video is a fine line, I thought the point of the video was not to make fun of the kids, but rather to make fun of how Kate's bad parenting messed up the kids. Huge difference in my mind.
I don't know how the kids would react, but I think they're just as likely to laugh. The kids are starting to realize what's going on here and are poking fun at Kate and seeing others poke fun at Kate like Jamie. When I was working for a TV anchor Saturday Night Live did a parody of the whole news team and everyone was laughing like crazy, showing it to their kids, wanted copies of it. It was funny I saw the skit live and I was kind of nervous to come into work Monday not knowing how everyone would take it. But not a single person was upset. I realize that's adults but these are bright kids.

Regardless if the direction of the video is to put the blame on Kate, the final product, the bottom line, is that it DOES make fun of the kids and they come off looking like social misfits. I think that posting this video brings the blog down and does nothing to establish credibility, particularly when the blog has done so much to pride itself in not stooping to the level of other blogs.

A few years ago, a friend was driving a new pickup truck on a local road at night and several deer ran out. He slammed on his brakes to avoid hitting them. The deer jumped over his truck, one bounced off his hood, but they all ran off. After getting out of his truck to inspect the dent on his hood, he drove off. A couple minutes later, a cop came up behind him with flashing lights and pulled him over. The cop asked him why he had a deer standing in the back of his pickup truck. One of the deer that ran out jumped into the back of his truck.

Sorry, but I'm not going to get into any further discussion about the school, it's motives, how the kids got into the school, how many days they missed, how well they are doing in school, why the younger ones stayed behind a year, their extra-curricular activities, their expulsion, or anything else. Their school information is private, and as such, as far as I'm concerned, that's how it should be.
We want privacy for the kids. Let's keep it that way.

When she and Jon signed on the dotted line to start filming, they are the ones who set their children up for this kind of stuff. THEY are the ones to blame. They knew how crazy this world is and how cruel it can be, and still handed over film footage for a paycheck.

Also, let us all not forget..none of us would know anything about these kid's personalities if they weren't on TV. Kate sold them out so like it or not they are a part of social media. They are going to be mentioned..parody's will be filmed, comments will be made and the kids will be recognized. we cannot protect them from what their mother did to them. we just can't. unfortunately the show will be a cross they will have to bear.
this is the very core of why there should be laws enacted to protect minors on reality tv. a parent who is making big $ off of their children isn't going to be able to see things clearly and make the best decisions. there are laws for everything - (read hippie chicks blog on funny laws on the books. hehe) how can there not be a law to protect the kids?

We all know what unintended consequences are. While the intent was most probably to show what a terrible mom Kate is, it doesn't change the fact that these kids are hurt by the video.
Hannah is 7, and quite possibly doesn't yet know exactly how a baby is made. What would she think if she saw this video? Leah is also 7, and I bet she doesn't know about cutting. She shouldn't! She needs to know about adding, long vowel sounds, dolls, and puppies. Colin is 7. There is still plenty of time for his dad or the good teachers at his school to channel that aggression into something positive. He doesn't need to see that "glimpse into the future". Cara is plenty old enough to understand what a death wish looks like written on paper. Do you think that will make her laugh if she sees it?
The whole "self-fulfilling prophecy" concept comes to mind here. And New York is right. Other children WILL see this. Older siblings may come across it and show it to little brothers and sisters... Many parents from their school may view this site and leave this page open. Who knows? It's just another thing to tease the kids about.
While I agree with your point about not putting kids on reality tv in the first place, the same logic can be applied to this situation. If you don't post the video, you can't be accused of contributing to eight little kids' misery.
Please think about this and listen to the part of your gut that is causing you to be torn.
Mandy I made the call on it. I think the greater good is the message of Kate messing these kids up. Sometimes people don't get it when you just say flatly what Kate is doing will screw things up. Sometimes humor sends the message easier. The same could be said for me posting my evidence of exploitation videos, I'm sure Collin doesn't want that particular infamous episode memorialized. But the greater good, IMO, is to spread the message look how FAR Kate and Jon went with these kids, even filming THAT.
And really, keep it in perspective, this parody video is the very least of their problems. Lest we forget the kids themselves were on TV for 150 episodes.

Humor does that, but at what expense? In this case, it's at the expense of the kids. I don't know about the Gosselin children, but my kids wouldn't find it amusing, especially if they were teased unmercifully about it.

Her problem walking away is that it became more about her being a start than purely making memories. You can make memories, say family videos or photos. Organic cereal can indeed develop toxic mold spores that may not be visible to the naked eye.
Our local news show did a segment on it - the spores can grow within only a few weeks of its expiration date, and can cause respiratory failure/anaphalactic shock if ingested. The same goes for any kind of mixes, such as pancake mix, cookie mix, cake mix if used past their expiration date. Just because a cereal isn't green with mold does not mean that it doesn't contain mold spores. There's a reason that expiration date is on the box.
I really hope Brownlow has forgotten about getting that cereal to Kate.
Maybe she'll replace it with IPad2 covers. Yeah.

I agree that the 8 kids were sold to the public the day their parents signed the contract with TLC. I saw the link to the video on Kate's twitter page (multiple non-fans have tweeted it to her). Hi! I forgot to add this on my last post.Yeah, I think Roseanne is a little sarcastic to her bf, but she just makes me laugh.I was kind of upset with her after she sang that national anthem so badly and was laughing about it.
She really made some enemies then! The show I saw was where she sang the anthem again at the school's baseball game. She was embarassed by her last singing, and really tried hard to do it right this time.
She sang out loud and proud, and she did it with no musical back-up.She doesn't have the greatest voice and it was pitchy as all get out,but it made me cry.She sang it with such pride and determination, it just got to me!
Her grandsons stood with her while she sang. She did it for them ,to show them that you could screw up and make mistakes.But, this was the USA and they give you second chances, to make up for your mistakes. Great life lesson.
I wonder if Kate, the in-grate would do the same for her kids? Yeah, no....not a chance. No, I didn't know it was cancelled, shoot! I'm going to write to them, dammit.

The video's a parody, and parody is a form of satire. Satire itself is exposing/discrediting human vice/folly via humorous means. So I don't see the video as having some fun at the kids' expense; the video's making a critical commentary about Kate.

The video aptly makes the point that Kate WOULD follow the kids with camera into college. She would dress them all alike when they're 18 (as they are in the video). She WILL still be attempting to control them. Who believes Kate's dream is to see these kids on TV in college? I do. She said it, didn't she? And filming grandkids? You bet she would do that, too. Nothing is sacrosanct with this woman.

Admin is a big girl. If she wanted a Ziggy or Sagen blog that allows only one opinion, she wouldn't allow dissent. She just asks that people be respectful, and no one was being disrespectful.
The end does not necessarily justify the means, and I stand by my point that this video is disgusting and hurts the children. Sometimes our hatred overcomes the greater good, and hatred never pays off.
I have a lot of respect for Admin, just as I have a lot of respect for people who say, "I'm sorry. I was wrong." I can't remember a time that my respect for someone didn't grow for a person who did that. It takes a lot of guts. Of course she does. That, however, doesn't mean that a controversial subject should not be the subject of comments. I agree with Mandy...that's what sets this blog apart from the others. Nobody tells you or others that your "chatter" needs to stop. Why? Because we respect posters' rights to express their opinions. What a sad world this would be if everyone thought alike. We should be respectful in welcoming differing opinions, even if we don't agree with them. Opinions open up topics for discussions and we can see both sides of an issue, not just the one at hand. We don't tell others that their "chatter" needs to stop. This time it's more than just chatter (although there is quite a bit of that on various threads, and that's fine. It makes for fun reading).
Personally, I've looked at the video this way. Yes, it's a slam at Kate, and we know she deserves this for filming those kids since birth. If this were 10 years in the future, and those kids turned out as they did in the video, no problem. She did this to them.
However, these are very young seven and ten year olds, in their formative years, and they aren't cutters, nor have they been kept back from college for four years, nor is any of them pregnant. Yes, it may be in the stars for them, but the point is that this is just one more put-down on those kids, regardless if Kate's behavior and controlling ways is the point of the video. Right now we can't say, "We told you so" because we don't know what the future holds for them.
I have mixed feelings about it, and as such, have welcomed the comments on it. It's not "chatter," but has been an intelligent discussion on what, despite the humor in the video, is a very thought-provoking subject.
With all respect in the world to Admin, who has always kept this blog fresh, intelligent and open, and has always come down in favor of the children, I just do not understand the decision to post the parody video. To say that the parody would not have happened if K8 hadnt't put the children out there, is akin to blaming the victim (in this case, the children).
I think the video's potential harm to the children outweighs the snarky fun factor. There is no question in my mind that if the children see this, there will be some among them who would be quite sad and think adults have just given up on them as becoming responsible people in their own right. The phrase "People rise to other's expectations" comes to mind.
If the children see the video at all, I would feel better for them that it wouldn't be from this heretofore supportive group of people who always tried to have their best interests at heart.
I do not believe the children will think this is funny - 1st, it makes fun of their mom and, 2nd, it says no one believes in them. It would take a LOT of maturity and therapy for them to see the (questionable) humor in it.
Whether Admin made the video is irrelevant. It's up on You Tube.
It's here because it's a telling example of the impact that J&K +8 has had on our collective conscience and is an excellent example of what many have been saying all along. Get your kids off TV or "this" could happen.
But rest assured, this travesty will be a case study for sociology, psychology and law classes for decades to come.

Yes, but all of those reels documenting their lives were filmed as they happened, in the present. This video should not be a re-telling of Dickens' Christmas Carol. What is shown there is the Ghost of Christmas Future. Self-fulfilling prophecies can be a scary thing, especially if the children involved in it happen to see it. Would they ask if that is the way they are going to turn out, questioning if that is what's going to happen to them?
I was trying to imagine how I (not Kate) would feel if those were MY children shown in that video, depicting what they looked like/acted like 10 years from now. I'd be pulling my hair out over it. If I were that upset, imagine how my kids would feel.
It is (or should be) all about the children and their privacy, isn't it?

This YouTube video is a form, as are the blogs dedicated to exposing this farce called "reality" tv, of a clear, concise and outright protest against parents making money off their kids.
As far as the kids' privacy goes, of course it is. It's what what many of us having been saying all along.
It was not us though that kept those kids on t.v., that they have their mother to thank for.

I see nothing wrong with Admin having this video here.Like many have said,she didnt make it.There are thousands and thousands of posts,blogs,and comments showing the kids in a not so nice way.This isnt new...it's been happening for years.If you stop by a random story about kate and the kids..people are down right nasty with thier comments about the kids...They are ugly...they are snotty and rude...they are spoiled brats...they have no talent...
Yes they are just children.This is KATES fault.She forced this on the kids.kate was the one who put the kids up for this ridacule(sp) kate dosent care what is said as long as she is being talked about.Even if it will hurt the kids in the future.Hell...she bashes thier dad every chance she can get.
