I'm in Oklahoma and was w/o power for three days after I moved into my new home ten (10) years ago (and I'm REALLY alone--NO STEVE)...her whining is nauseating me. I know, LOL. I literally shook my head with her boohooing that the power may be out for 24 hours. Good thing she doesn't have to deal with tropical storms and hurricanes each year. In '04 we didn't have power for 2 weeks, and about 2 years ago we went about 6 days with no power. 24 hours is nothing. It does make you appreciate electricity more, though. You forget how much you take it for granted.
If she wants coffee so dang bad, why can she go heat up some water on her gas grill? That's what we do when there's no power.

Like I said, RATIONAL people. It's irrational to friend people you don't know, though I'm aware some people do it. Yes, I can honestly say I know each and every friend on Facebook. Facebook was originally intended to connect with people you know, not strangers. It is still used for that purpose by a lot of people. I think it's dumb not to know who your FB friends are just like it's dumb not to know who has possession of your children's naked videos. If you're going to befriend people you don't know for God sakes don't put any personal details on FB. Sometimes people have business accounts to advertise their business and will friend anyone but they sure as heck won't put a bunch of naked bath time pics on that account, that's just plain common sense. And I'm an adult and I don't post minor's pictures on my fb.
Be SAFE on FB just like you would be safe with any movies you make of your kids. Again, common sense. You can be safe on FB, they even have an entire portion of their web site about being safe, and people who are safe on FB will never have to worry about someone they don't know getting a hold of potty videos because number one they don't friend people they don't know and two they don't post potty vidoes in the first place--duh!

It's a rhetorical question. Of course they are subcontracting so much to save money and the point is they don't care. THey care so little about their kids they don't care what Dick, Tom or Harry they farm out the jobs to even pedophiles. IF you're going to film kids at the very least you should have control, DIRECT CONTROL, over who is working with them and in production.
I agree with what a previous poster said. There shouldn't be "sides" on this issue. You can be a Kate fan and STILL be outraged over this incident.
I also think when Kate is on The View she will be asked about the arrest and her reaction. But she'll come back with a "poor me" answer, making it all about her. With the exception of the fireplaces, Preesi is wrong. Wernersville did have power outages...I don't know if they still do, but they did. My sister-in-law lives there. If Kate has a gas stove, she does need electric to start it. She would have no idea how to light it with a match.

Kate has a well. You need electricity to run the pump. When the power goes out, you can't flush the toilets.
The point is, if you have a gas stove, you should already know that you keep matches handy somewhere in case of a power outage so that you can light the stove. And learn how to do it. She only would need electric because she is clueless. It's not like it's that difficult.
She could, however, be without electric regardless of what the "map" indicates. Losing power can be random depending on trees and so on and not necessarily follow a map. However, NOT a big deal and she should have been prepared.
I wonder if she even knows how to open her garage door when there is no electric and the opener won't work.
I looked at the list on Preesi's blog and it listed Sinking Spring as having power outages. Doesn't Kate live in Sinking Springs? On another note. She's so pathetic she doesn't have matches, candles, or any emergency supplies. Pathetic. I have a very large wooden chest filled with everything my husband and I need for living in our house in the aftermath of a hurricane. We also have a generator that will run AC and lights. After hurricane Gustav we were without power for over a week and we survived just fine.
Since she doesn't read the news she probably is not aware there was an earthquake in Turkey a week ago and the confirmed death toll is close to 600, with many people unaccounted for. On Friday a 12 year old boy was rescued after spending 5 days buried in the ruble.
Compared to that, what she is experiencing is a minor inconvenience.

People in the same area can get power back sooner than others. We were helped by family during our power outage after Hurricane Irene, and we helped other family ourselves. BigFan is on the sauce tonight, I think, and tweeted that she will drive from DC (where she's visiting) to Wernersville to make sure that Kate is safe. Then she offered Kate the use of her apartment in Hershey while BigFan is in DC. Commenting on Kates lies of the day, and her deflections: Will a new pap photo show the huge opening to be able to see the house now that ALL the trees have uprooted and fell on the driveway? Kate was too upset to snap a phone pic and upload it, as per her own words. Decoding the Katespeak, that means a few branches fell off the trees and she didn't want to show proof of how big a deal that it wasn't. Keeping the pitty party going meant keeping the pedo story quieter.
Next up is the gem of having no fireplace. After Paige asked, Kate said "No fireplace here", then Austin asked what that cement thing outside of the kitchen is in her photos? To which Kate covered back up saying "not a working fireplace", then later again addressing the issue saying "well, it is kind of a fireplace but the igniter is electric and I have no power". Then she said the same when asked about her stove/range. Iwana was quick to tell her that you can use a match as long as gas is flowing, no need for an electronic igniter. As per her usual, Kate ignored Iwana but replied to a "hater" who later made the same statement about using a match. Kates reply was "I don't keep matches or lighters in the house. They scare me." WTF?? Just another lie! Everyone has a lighter or matches in safe places for many necessary reasons, but not Kate? The sheeple still don't seem to understand that Kate is trying to snow them over on feeling sorry for her when CJ asked Kate to give the name of her fireplace so the sheep can look it up online to see if it can be lit any other way. Kate, tweeting from her iPad that has full internet capabilities to look that same info up herself, replies "it's not worth it. It doesn't put out much heat anyways." That to me confirms that Kate DOES have a fireplace. Backtrack much?? It's safe to assume that this was simply to keep the spotlight on the "snowstorm" subject and not on the "shitstorm" subject. Even though the snowstorm will end, the shitstorm just keeps getting bigger and will reek havoc the more she lets the storm build.
If I take the time to go back through more tweets, I'm certain I can pull out a few more gems that are tell-tale lies. I can't wait for the pap pics of "ALL the trees are gone".
Just saw one more. Claimed trees were all down on the driveway, then tweeted that someone plowed out the driveway and pushed all the snow and branches out, but within an hour after that she tweeted they were snowed in and "roads not plowed, can't go anywhere". Someone could get there to plow the branches out of her driveway before a photo op could happen, but other than that, the roads aren't drivable?
The lies to keep the wheels spinning and the focus off the pedo story. Will it be put to use on the View? Talk about the storm and trees and feel sorry that "my" kids will be hounded by the paps taking pictures from the road now that the trees are ALL gone?
Matches scare her? She is a 36 year old woman. I picture her lighting a match and staring at it in wonder like a cavewoman, than crying out when it gets all the way down and burns her fingertips. Maybe that's what she can be for halloween, sexy cavewoman!

I could use help, if anyone's around at this hour (almost 4 a.m.). I haven't seen my cats for 5-6 hours, and there's no one I can call. I've been hearing them yelling for a while now, but since I can't walk I can't go check to see what's going on. One sounds like he may be out on the (enclosed but unheated) porch - he's a creaky old guy and I just hope he's OK. The other has been beating on a closed door and I thought she was trying to get IN, but now I think she may be trying to get OUT. How either one of them got in these places I don't know, but I've had various unknown helper-people the last few days (NO continuity; really awful) so I guess someone made a mistake. I don't have anyone else expected till 11 a.m., IF she can make it through the weather. I tried calling the police (NOT 911) just in case they had a car anywhere nearby that wasn't dealing with an emergency, but they said they had too many downed trees etc. I understand that, of course, but I'm still freaking out. Apart from worrying about my babies, *I* don't sleep well without them, so I haven't even tried yet. If there's anyone out there awake and reading, please write back and try to calm me down!

Best thing to do is calm down and let it ride until the other people arrive at 11am. The weather is positively not cold enough to harm the kitty. Kitty may whine and meow alot like Kate does when the power is off, but cats can go a couple days without food or water before it becomes an issue. Ms. Kitty has a fur coat on, so unlike Kate, she in essence has some clothes on.
Hope this calms you a little.

Oh, that's what *I* do with my weekends when there aren't too many people in and out - take a couple of pills and stay asleep. My old guy will sleep too, once he's had a chance to eat something and maybe take a shower (no kidding, he loves to get soaked!). The other one will no doubt sleep some too, but she tends to run around like a lunatic, especially when I'm trying to fall asleep.

I have Ben Nevis and Barra. Ben Nevis' littermate, Dundee, was the love of my life but I lost him in Feb. '10. Thank god I have these guys - they're all the family I have. I don't feel right without 3 cats but I can't really get another one that someone else would have to take care of.

Not anymore. The last of my six fur babies died two years ago and l miss then terribly. It was heartbreaking to lose them. I don't want to feel that pain ever again. I am not expected to live another year either, so it wouldn't be fair to get another cat or dog. But l sure miss cuddling up with them.

Oh my - I don't really know what to say to that. I couldn't identify more with the pain of that kind of loss. But I would say that if you have a friend or relative who could commit to taking over your animal if necessary, it would probably be so worth it! It makes such a huge difference if you're not living with anyone...for me, anyway. And even though I can't have the 3, which is what I know I'm meant to have, I do intend to stick with 2, because it makes any loss the TEENIEST bit easier. My guys are going on 15 and going on 13, so I already have that on my mind.
There's is no one that would take them if l decided to get another cat or dog. My boys like animals, but would never have one. They are a little selfish that way. Mine were 17 and 18 years old when they died. Broke my heart into a million pieces. I paid thousands of dollars trying to get them well, but in the end it was old age. I was divorced more than 25years ago. I am happier now that when l was married. It wasn't good one.
OK, so I'm actually going to start thinking about going to sleep. Thanks a lot, Teresa, you really did help.

Really? Our power was out yesterday until 9:30 PM. I live across town from Kate. We have a gas stove - even though the starter is electronic we lit it with a match. We still flushed our toilets and our gas fireplace still works. Yeah we were without internet and TV - but we were fine.

That's a lie too. We went out last night - main roads were clear and wet. Back roads were slushy. We went to KFC and bought chicken for dinner even though my stove worked,(just a good excuse to get out of cooking). We would have gone out for dinner, but I couldn't plug in my curling iron so my hair was icky - that was our biggest problem last night :)

I agree...and I want it too....but the problem will be, I suspect, that we will never see Kate looking like she realizes anything. Never get that satisfaction. She is clearly one who is adept at pretending everything is great....putting on false pretenses. Even if everything in her life crumbles and crashes around her, she will be euphorically crowing about one thing or another, bragging to her minions, hinting about great things yet to come soon, etc.
That is...unless she disappears altogether...which 1) isn't likely to happen and 2) will result in us never seeing anything in terms of Kate realizing anything useful (as we wouldn't be seeing her at all). I mean, even Paris Hilton shows up on rare occasions...and I'm sure Kate will too.
We'll probably have to wait until hidden info starts coming out....or the children write tell-all books, etc....and even then, she'll pretend everything is just fabulous.
I had to chuckle....for a woman who passes herself off as this experienced mom with all sorts of helpful info to teach other moms (how to do laundry, what to feed your children and recipes for these foods, etc.)........she was sure as hell acting clueless and helpless regarding the storm and power outage.
Can we assume that she cannot put an entry on her own website....advising "how to get through a snowstorm and a power/water outage with 8 children....and how a super-mom like me (Kate) would prepare for this"?

I sort of have to defend Kate on the gas situation. By no means am I afraid of matches and lighters, but I am terrified of gas in the house - gas stoves, gas fireplaces. I don't have either. I would never attempt to light a gas stove or fireplace since I have no idea what I am doing and have no desire to learn. The gas grill is okay - it's outside with a switch, but I stand back when I start it up!
I can see where Kate would be reluctant to do so. Gas isn't for everyone. I can also understand why she wouldn't light candles. Having eight kids running around in the dark with candles lit in the house really isn't a good idea.
However, why wasn't she prepared for this? The weather channels were giving warnings two days in advance that since this is a wet, heavy snow that downed trees and power lines were to be expected. You make sure you have batteries, lanterns, bottled water, and other emergency supplies. I thought that she was so organized - sounds like that was just another one of her spiels. If there were any problems, I bet Jon would have been there in a flash to help...IF she would allow him inside the gate. Where were all of her friends that she proclaims to have? She had to rely on her tweeties to get her through the evening? This is what happens when you alienate friends and family. She really has no one, does she?

Good Morning All- With the recent news of Blankenship/Child Porn, Kate's reaction to this, her ignorance of how ill prepared she was for a snow storm (and chronic whining/more lies),and that fact that she will be on The View tomorrow (why is she being booked for this show?), I am completely and totally disgusted. It is like a blind person leading a group of people to safety.

Tweete-le - yes...it was in back of the long table. I don't think that's their formal dining room, I believe it's the breakfast room. The kids were sitting at the table, and there was a fire burning in the fireplace. I'd bet my new car on it. I don't know what she means by "fake." A fake fireplace is usually just a brick facade in a room, without a chimney, just for show. But there clearly was fire burning in there.
I can't imagine a 1.3 million dollar house having three fireplaces, but all of them "fake."

Ordinarily I wouldn't believe much of what Kate says, but without a doubt the power was out in her area (Wernersville) last night. Everything was dark in that area. I live not far away, and my power was not out, but my friend's power, just down the road, was out for about eight hours. I wouldn't take the word of an electric company online report because outages were sporadic, happening in so many different areas at different times, and couldn't possibly be updated every minute and be accurate. Maps are only as efficient as those inputing the data. The electric company had so many calls yesterday that they couldn't keep up with the demand.
This time I can vouch for Kate. This time only!
If there is a settlement in this case, which I am sure there will be, Kate should not, as the parent, SHOULD NOT BENEFIT IN ANY WAY. She chose for the filming to continue after Jon objected, so in my opinion, it should go to accounts ONLY for th kids which Kate has NO ACCEESS to. She should have to pay the kids, as well, for what she put them through.

Its a shame that she has cut so many people out of her life that she has isolated the kids as well. I grew up in New England, and it par for the course that we would lose power. When that would happen it was neighbor helping neighbor - someone had a plow on his truck and helped with driveways - not for money, but because we were neighbors and thats what you did. My parents had a gas stove and I was the one running back and forth to older neighbors with hot water for tea.
Its a shame that she has shut out so many people that nobody is willing to help...just strangers who may...MAY..have ulterior motives.

In her world fake probably means they are not electric and may be gas. If gas she could have lit them w/ no problem. Most adult women with kids in that situation without a husband and/or absentee servant would have called their DAD (if lucky enough to still have one) and he could have talked her through it on the phone. But then no pity party. I am sure she will reward herself, excessively, as usual, for all that SHE and she ALONE has been through.
And if she has 3 wood burning fireplaces in that house in rural PA without a wood pile then that would be a shame.

Well, the storm may just be an excuse for her not to appear on The View and answer questions regarding the arrested editor. Further, it could be that Steve is unable to be her escort in NYC. And, she most definitely had a working fireplace filmed in the kitchen keeping room. And she would have to be a complete idiot to not prepare for power outages in the country. Surely she's experienced bad weather before. It's just an excuse.
She'll be on The View if she has to call the National Guard to get her there. Remember when she went to NYC during Hurricane Irene? She doesn't give a crap about the weather if it means missing out on a tv gig.
Perhaps by now a sheeple has made an emergency Starbucks delivery run and delivered it to her gates. Again, if she had not cut herself off from family, quite sure she would have had some help once the storm passed and the roads cleared. No excuse whatsoever to not have emergency supplies, including yes, matches, lighters, flashlights, etc., stored away, lock up the matches if you feel safer, just no excuse.

Well what a difference a day makes. Yesterday, we were getting pummeled with chilly rain and wet snow and today the sun is shining brightly.
DH and I are taking 2 of our dogs to a local Halloween parade! Our bichon is a pumpkin and since he's an old fart, we're wheeling him around in a decorated Radio Flyer wagon (my husband, in his wildest dreams, never saw this one coming!) and our Neardie (beardie almost) is a Harley biker with a way-cool denim vest and American flag neckerchief.
We've just carved one of our pumpkins, the largest, with a power drill. Too much fun, I'm telling you, it's cathartic!
She won't miss a TV appearance for any reason. She's likely already left on her way at warp speed to get out of there. Has to be there to tell her horror story of how difficult it was to be without power with EIGHT kids. Oh, the horror...
My neighbor who has 9 kids all within a year or so of each other in age does perfectly fine when we lose power (which is, unfortunately, often in this region). In fact, the other kids around this rural go over there to sled ride and play and she welcomes them cheerfully with hot chocolate, etc. - made without having power (and no gas service out here). I am always thisclose to being embarrassed for Kate...but not quite...
Regarding electricity and toilets and wells....
If you have a well, either individual or community well, the water is pumped up from the ground using an electric pump.
No electricity = no water out of the well.
As for toilets, of course you can flush them, as the toilet water goes down via gravity. BUT, no water will replace the water flushed down. The first flush will essentially empty the toilet tank as it replaces water.
But then you have to pour water into toilet bowl to replace it for next flush.
Smart people, unlike her, heed the storm warnings and fill all bathtubs and pans with water to use for flushing, washing hands, cooking over gas stove which you CAN light with matches.
If she had filled up her tubs and pots/pans to have water she could have made it just fine. Instead, she seems to have spent that time twitting.
So for the poster who questioned "electric toilets", yes: no electricity in home with well does equal lack of ability to flush repeatedly - unless you manually fill bowl with water after each flush.

When I have been without water in the house because of plumbing problems that required water be turned off at the main line, I have actually resorted to putting a new cat litter box filled with fresh litter in the bathtub and using that.
It scoops just the same way cat waste does, and is tossed just the same way cat waste is tossed. It works in a dire emergency in the middle of the night, believe me. During the day, there are places I could use, like the church's restroom.
I keep a new cat litter box and a fresh jug of cat litter in the bathroom closet just in case this happens again. In an old house with the world's worst plumbing, it very likely will.
I find it really sad that Kate has to constantly tell everyone what her kids say. I find it disturbing that it's been twice I know of her kids have said something a child should not really have a concept up entirely.

I wouldn't take the word of an electric company online report because outages were sporadic, happening in so many different areas at different times, and couldn't possibly be updated every minute and be accurate. Absolutely. This is what ticks me off about "investigators" who pull up info online, and just because something is contrary to what she says, she's automatically branded a liar. Yes, she lies quite frequently, but if someone doesn't live in the area, he or she has no clue as to what is going on there and just bases detective work on what is erroneously reported, or not reported, online. Jumping to false conclusions and then saying that her area was not out of power, that she's a liar, is just irresponsible.
Kate has no matches? She is "afraid of them"? Oh my; us kids must have had a "bad mom" because she always had matches.... and candles.... in a drawer for power outages. No kid in my family ever considered playing with the matches, although we knew where they were. Our mom was not "afraid" we'd get into the matches because she TAUGHT US it was wrong. See, Kate, you'd have matches and candles to use, without "fear", if you'd taken some of your "me-time" and taught your kids.

We had an electric coded gate, and it is similar to an electric garage door. There are ways of opening it manually in an emergency, but for security reasons, I'm not going to post it online.
I'm assuming the "friend" is Jon. She has to get to NYC, after all.
All that drama about the power etc and how DRAINED she is and how HARROWING it was was most likely due to the fact that she had to spend long hours with all her kids and no TV or anything else to babysit them.
Thus all the tweeting.
I certainly hope some little brain cell in her empty head says, "hey, maybe you should get some emergency supplies, like a generator, lighters, candles, learn some things, etc." But I doubt it.
And yeah, from what I can tell, her fireplaces are electric ignition, but wood burning. She could have still lit up a nice roaring fire in one fireplace. What a tool she is.
Oh and even I have a wood-burning fireplace. We only use it about 3-4 times a year, but we did have two record-breaking snowstorms last year, so it does come in handy. Gas ignition, wood burning, and I know how to operate it.
Someone on another blog and on twitter was saying that she has a geothermal heating system and therefore the house shouldn't have been cold. You need electricity to run the geothermal pump, just as you need electricity to run the well pump.

Well, it's not dark. It's a very bright, sunny day, and it's not bitter cold - about 50 degrees. She shouldn't be freezing, and she has sunlight coming in the house. The kids are out of her hair, she's getting ready for NYC, so she should be quite content.
She is still looking for that jewel comment that Alexis made "hannah pooped in hannah's underwear's" that everyone loved. It wasn't what she said but how she said it. And of course nothing will top Aaden's "I can't see sheep" and his little grin afterwards. Those were candid moments - not say something cute moments which appears to be what is happening now.
The tv ads for The View are airing, and K8 is shown on them.... It's possible The View was taped for Monday's show (or her segment was taped). This is quite likely the case since she was already in NY last week.

True, but her whining is about the power outage. We get those quite frequently throughout the summer, not only in the winter. She should have emergency supplies on hand all the time. Winter storm warnings went out on Friday, with a special weather statement that the heavy, wet snow would bring down power lines and trees. The local weather stations reported us to be in the 4 to 8 inch band; Berks was higher. Maybe she should have checked a weather report. Accu-weather and The Weather Channel were all over it.

She had no water at all! In order to have SOLAR HOT WATER, you first need water! She's on a well system. Electric powers the well pump. There is nothing to bring the water up from the well if electric power is out.

I'm not defending Kate here, since I own matches but I remain freaked out by lighting them to this day. Yeah, I know like the open soda I'm overly cautious I get it. But come on, worse came to worse one day and I had no heat and I lit a match regardless of my fears. You do what you have to do eventually and get on with life.

She can use her fear of candles and matches to flap her hands and squeal helplessly in need of assistance when she has these 'issues'. Yes, Wernersville is located in the municipality of Lower HeidelbErg Township, Berks County, PA, but the township is not the property address, nor where the Post Office would deliver the mail if Kate opted for home delivery. So, while she may be 2 miles from the official 'boro' of Wernersville, she still has a Wernersville address and deed designation.
