Kate took to the, um, podium today in Brisbane, Australia at the Gala Dinner and auction. No word yet on how much lunch with Kate this Monday went for.

Wildlife Warriors is a separate entity to Australia Zoo. It is involved with conservation efforts, primarily in preserving endangered species (Tasmanian devil, Sumatran Orangutans, etc).

Most DVD players in Australia are region free. Most of my DVD collection is from the US and UK because they're cheaper buying online.
I think mumbear was hoping for a chance to spend a lot of her free time with Kate while she is there. Of course, Kate would have too much "scheduled" during her visit to just hang out with a tweeter so mumbear ends up with lots of free time on her hands.
Well I see Kate got to hold another Koala, which I believe was another goal of hers. I'm willing to bet she's already got her sights set on going back again next year.

I tend to agree. If she and Kate were spending time together, I think she would have kept her twitter public so she could share how privileged she is.
There's also the possibility that when Kate presented mumbear with her gift, Kate said if you're tweeting about this...don't!
I really think someone urged her to wear a more conservative dress for that dinner. Think about how she normally prefers to dress. No way would she wear something with no cleavage completely of her own accord.
As for her and Steve, I have a hard time caring, nut I generally think she's pretty asexual. And even if it is a real relationship, it'll end soon enough--it's Kate.
Wouldn't it be nice to see Kate hugging her children the way she is hugging that koala? She really is a strange egg.

Dress her up, put her on a red carpet and stick a camera in her face, and she will smile like that with Jerry Sandusky, too. She doesn't care who or what she's with as long as she's getting media attention.
Marie, apple pie was an essential part of T-giving at our house. My dad would plunk a wedge of Cheddar cheese on top of it. I never understood why..... Anyway, pumpkin pie was sometimes offered, but apple pie, always! Apples are best in the fall.
Different strokes for different folks. A friend of mine used to serve turkey, all the trimmings plus chicken chow mein on Thanksgiving. That was something else I didn't understand, but it was a tradition in their non-Asian family.

I see what you're saying, Rhymes. That's why I used "if" in my own comment. I don't know if the "haters" based their claims on specific information, but it did strike me that, IF true, this was a potential explanation for the mumbear9's affection for things Kate.
I think she looks very nice in the two pictures here. She's not orange, she is smiling. Her hair is combed and does not look like fly-away straw, and her dress is very classy. Best she has looked in a long time!
My Mom always made scalloped oysters for Thanksgiving. My dad loved them. The rest of us -- not so much. I like cheddar cheese with apple pie, if I eat apple pie. My dad used to put gravy on his apple pie. Apparently he learned that from his father, whom I don't remember. I always thought that looked disgusting.
At least the koala in the above picture with Kate doesn't look like it's trying to escape, the way the other one she was photographed with did. I agree though, it would be nice to see her hugging her children like that.
Carezee -- I know what you mean. We had 4 snowfalls of over 10" last year, plus a big ice storm that dumped 4 1/2" of ice on top of a couple of inches of snow. I spent over two weeks trapped in my house because I couldn't get the door open. Y'all in the Buffalo area get it much worse than we do. There's a big cat show there (well, in Hamburg) every year the w/e after Thanksgiving, and I got stuck for 3 extra days one year, because y'all had a big lake-effect snowstorm and the turnpike in PA and Ohio closed down. Thankfully, I had a motel room. A couple of my friends made it as far as Erie and got stuck on the turnpike. They spent the night in their van - 3 people and 5 unhappy cats.
Robin's Nest I agree with you. This is the most chic Kate has looked in awhile. It's as if someone sat down with her, looked her in the eyes, held her hands and said, Kate, the dirty whore look has got to go if there is to be any hope left.

If I remember correctly, they were Marmite chips. Marmite is a spread that many Brits and many Australians enjoy spread on toast, and so I guess they have used the flavor on "crisps" (potato chips) as well.
It's kind of like ketchup flavored and dill pickle flavored potato chips that are available. Whatever flavor people enjoy eventually gets made into a chip/crisp.
My guess is that if Perth has marmite chips, they are also available in Brisbane. Why they would have to be transported cross-continent is beyond me.

Brain fade. I am asking about the lunch with Kate in particular. I assume auction results as a whole will turn up eventually, but presumably you invite a "celebrity" to this kind of event so that you get the publicity before, during, and after, when she lunches with 9 fans and creates a huge PR photo op.
No photos, no news, no mention from the Twitter Queen herself helping Irwin out by providing a little more publicity. (Though that last isn't surprising.)

Scalloped oysters! YES! Thanksgiving and Christmas. My sister's mother-in-law made the best oysters on the planet. We all have her recipe, but somehow they never turn out the way that she made them.
Like most Aussies I was raised on Vegemite (not Marmite, which is a British version). Vegemite is a ssavoury spread made from yeast extract, much the colour and consistency of boot polish! Hard to describe the taste but it is pretty salty. Those new to it seems either to love it or hate it.
Kraft has recently bought out a Vegemite-flavoured potato chip, so I guess that's what's being dicussed.
On the subject of foster carers - in this country, at least, they are poorly remunerated for looking after often very difficult or disabled children. No one does it for the money, only because they have a big heart.
If Kate's Aussie fan has Kate all wrong, as we thinks she has, that's a completely different issue. The snarks about fostering are off-beam.

Isn't that the way that goes? I swear, there is always at least one absolute favorite food dish that Grandma or Uncle Leo or somebody would make without a thought, and nobody can ever duplicate it. With recipe in hand, with a flair for cooking, with sheer determination, you still cannot say "that's it!" It's always close, but not right. Darn it.
Marie, I am with you in hoping Kate gets knocked down a few pegs and is forced to accept the realest of reality. (I work with the homeless and at a food bank and see that reality daily in the tearful eyes of people who never thought 'they'd be there.') Looks like it is gradually happening though. Think about it. She has to travel to another continent to get a gig? She is a laughing stock for the most part here, where she hopes to have a media career. Ain't happenin'. And the media will latch on to this story and villify her again - pointing out that she left her kid for a week or whatever to travel to Australia - and for what? It's coming; be patient!

Take French Fries. They come with ketchup, with cheese, with cheese and chili around here. I've seen people dip them into mayonnaise, others into salsa, still others into hot mustard. And I have recently heard that in some parts of the country, they put gravy on them. I have never heard of it, and don't think I'd like it, but once again, I love regionalisms. That includes different food preferences as well as language.

Somehow I don't think though as a woman who has to have control all the time that Kate cares if she's a laughing stock honestly. That is really the bottom line ( what you said ). The zoo can't afford it. Kate shouldn't be wasting money on it since she no longer has a show and is "worried" about her future. So the sensible thing would've been for her to decline and send a donation. The money spent by either the zoo or herself in travel/lodging costs would've helped the animals so much more. I bet whomever paid for her expenses paid way more in that than any donations Kate generated for being there.
Who would have paid for, say, Nicole Kidman to fly to Australia for this? Yes, it's her homeland, but still, she lives in the USA, doesn't she? Or if Nicole isn't a good example, what about another really famous person they might choose to invite?
Perhaps they have some kind of a grant set up for bringing in featured people? Just an idea.

I remember once I was invited to attend lunch with a group of friends at a swanky dining room that was affiliated with the university where she taught, a room used for special faculty events. One woman at our church invited us all. She sent out fancy invitations. Imagine our surprise when she asked for individual checks. You should have seen the trips to the restroom or the coat room for us to see who had brought some extra cash or a credit card to help the rest of us out. I had walked in with less than $20.00, and the meal was well over that. Our "hostess" also asked us to not forget to leave a tip on the table!
I think Terri Irwin has ruined the image of the zoo that her late husband and father in law so loved by exploiting her own kids and mismanaging it. Think about it. Steve Irwin's dad walked away from the zoo because of her; must be something seriously wrong with how she's running things for him to bolt. I think they settled on Kate because they couldn't find anyone decent who would agree to appear. It's a floundering charity riding on the coattails of Steve reduced to affiliating with a has-been non-celebrity riding on the coattails of her victims/kids.
No disrespect intended, but no way in the world is there some sort of "grant" for a "hasbeen CANCELLED reality celebrity" to travel across the world to eat lunch with some people trying to raise money to feed chimps!
My guess is Terri Irwin somehow bonded with her (sadly) and was desperate enough to somehow foot the bill (or rather the $$$ that Bindi earns) for this "any excuse to get away and have my picture taken and be relavent" Kate AND her "body guard" to come to the event.
IF someone like Nicole Kidman was involved, I could understand the charity paying her way- knowing that they could easily ask thousands per seat for the opportunity to sit with a class act highly respected actress, mother, and filanthrapist!
After the crappy flea mart toy sales, food bank fiasco, and Red Cross "centerfold" she is going to have to do a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooot of GIVING before I even start think she is doing ANYTHING for "charity." SHE HAS HAD HER HANDS OUT FOR WAY TOO LONG TO BELIEVE ANYTHING ELSE.
I grew up in foster care.. I will tell you, it's not done for the money. My FM had up to 6 or more girls (teens) at a time. I can tell you food alone broke her.. She took us shopping on her dime, brought us on mini vacations, gave us weekly allowance for helping out on chores, and the most important thing was, she gave up her home to love and take care of us.. Yes, they get paid. But it's squat. People do foster care put of their heart. Yes, there are bad egg foster parents. But they either don't last, or, are out to abuse.. I've seen it all. But mostly good.
I don't know for some people foster care is done for the money. I'd like to think, only a small minority. The system is better regulated than it used to be. Not everyone is in it for the right motives, but I don't see any evidence this particular sheeple doesn't have a pure heart for foster kids. I think a lot of sheeple are actually quite good people. There are only a few really vile ones out there that are truly off their rocker. Their love of Kate comes from maybe something that wasn't resolved in their childhood, immaturity to still be worshiping celebs at their age, mommy issues, or a bad marriage they never worked through (I remember one of the high sheeple once going on and on about her terrible divorce and even worse ex), a fierce though naive belief that all mommies should stick together (maybe they're busy with their foster kids and don't watch a lot of news to realize there are some really bad mommies out there you should not support), and so on. And that's my analysis of a sheeple!
The Zoo is the main sponsor of this Wildlife Warriors charity. There were articles from back in February of this year all about the mismanagement of the zoo under Terri Irwin's ownership and direction, including speculation that the financial difficulties would leave to its eventual closure. As I recall, zoo income was down and about two dozen employees were laid off. Terri blamed the financial difficulties on the bad global economy and the terrible weather in Australia.
I still think the Zoo has a lot of money to spend as Terri sees fit. She is the owner and director, and for some reason she wanted Khate flown in for the event, (and likely was unable to get anyone else, any real celebs). I do not think this trip is costing Khate one cent. All of her expenses, including Steve, are being paid for by the Zoo, and Khate is also being paid a fee for this.
Btw, not only are Terri and her kids estranged from Steve Irwin' family, but I read an article about the celebration of the Zoo's fortieth anniversary last year and Steve's father was left completely out of it. In addition to not being invited to take part at all, his name was left completely out of any of the information about the zoo, as if he never existed, even though HE is the one who founded the Zoo forty years ago! Don't forget, he is widely reported to have left the zoo over concerns over Terri's handling of the zoo, over her increasing commercialism of the zoo and movement away from Steve's focus on conservation efforts, and the pushing of Bindi into being the face of the Zoo empire. As I've posted before, one of the articles said that Terri has a new production partner, Fremantle Media, and there are 11 new television and multimedia projects on the drawing board for Bindi.
I believe the snark is on the Aussie Sheep, not on foster care. We all know foster parents get paid crap, some do it out of the goodness of their hearts, some are just that lazy and desperate. The system is not perfect, there are wonderful stories and there are people out there you want to pound the crap out of.
Back to this sheep, IF she has 9 kids at home, some with disabilities, why would she even waste the time and money to fly half way across the country to meet & have dinner with a Z-list celebrity? Just because she has 9 kids at home, she immediately identifies with Khate and is one of her staunch supporters. I would think someone with that many kids would or should see clearly what a half ass parent Khate is. Not only has she wasted her time and money, so has the Australian Zoo. Lack of local publicity or news is very telling of how successful the event is.
From what I've read on Mumbear9's tweets, she seems like a nice woman and may be a little naive if anything? Kate added her to her list of followers a few months back to "discuss" some things, which is the first clue that we knew Kate had pretty solid plans on going back to Australia. I think its a little unfair to judge Mumbear and to say what she should spend her money on. She openly said she hasn't been out on vacation by herself in many years and if she is fostering 9 kids, Lord knows some of that hard earned money should spent on herself enjoying an adventure. I feel bad that she traveled that far just to be disappointed with a fake smile and a 1 minute "Hi, I'm Kate. Who are you? Would you like my autograph? Here you go, have a nice day."
What does get me wound up still though is it is bad enough that someone had to spring for Kate and her accomodations and airfare, but also had to pay for the flip-flop cop? Serious? If Anjelina or Nicole Kidman were invited, would they require they bring their boobyguard and have his way paid too? Where is Gina in all of this? I cant understand what Steve must say to her every other weekend when he says he has to go somewhere to "protect" Kate and packs all of his leisure clothes. Either Gina is blind, doesn't care, or her and Steve have an agreement to milk the cow for all they can get out of her and then fade into the sunset after Kate completes her circling the drain process. Or he is straight up boning the shit out of Kate and loving his paid vacations and free high class meals with his low class Ho'.

My 2 cents on who paid for what; Kates show recently started airing in Australia and last weeks episode was somewhat of a prelude or a tie-in to this whole event. TLC aired the old zoo episode from this past spring just this past week on their Australian network. It seems obvious to me that TLC probably told Kate that she has contractual obligations (?) and they cut the deal where TLC would pay for her to go plug and promote the show, plus the zoo got exposure, so it looks like a win-win-win for all 3 involved. Kate got her free trip. She could give two shits less about any personal pay for her time, just give me the free trip and make damn sure my lover, errr....purseboy, um...daddy, well honestly my road managerish guy gets to go with for free too. TLC wins with cheap promotion for their show in a country that has yet to see the negative garbage about Kate the exploiter. The Zoo wins with having a cheap celeb hug koalas and smile a big fake canned pose smile for media coverage. Steve wins with being able to bone Kate for 5 nights. Oh wait, nevermind. Someone has to lose in this. Let me start over. Steve wins with being able to cash another check for sitting around in flip-flops and saying "whateva" to his grifting diva that he protects.

------------- Perhaps the Mumbears of the world with large families are sheeple because they, like her, have several kids and they see that she can live a life of privilege and they can't. It seems contradictory in a way, but they admire that lifestyle and it gives them some kind of hope that if she can do it, possibly there is that chance that something like that can come there way. It's kind of the Cinderella effect. Dream it, and it may come. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with good parenting or the fact that they are doing things much better than she does.

Not a peep from the "Queen" herself since her I'm having so much fun (without the kids) tweet. Kim K. maybe a public toilet, but she knew how to use social media. I follow Gary Sinise on twitter and he was at Vegas this weekend with his Lt. Dan Band to raise funds for military families as well as a CSI event. He tweeted reminders where each venue was and the times, he tweeted pictures of himself at both events. When it was over, he properly tweeted thank you to everyone for their support. This is how a real classy celebrity use social media to promote his cause.
So it's 3:30 in the afternoon on Monday where she is, at least a couple of hours since the lunch ended, if it took place. No tweets from the twit. You'd think she'd want to make a big deal out of it and at least mention it.
Once she's back from this trip, I bet Crabby Kate will show up again on Twitter. Back with the kids, back to the school routine, back to no real job and TV show still canceled and gone and the holidays upon her. Woe is her, the Perpetual Lady of Assholery.

Kate won't mention a thing on Twitter, not in Steve's presence. Her "one-and-out" tweets are while Steve is in the bathroom. It has been well noted that whenever Steve is with her, Kate does NOT tweet.
It's no surprise that Iwana asked about the luncheon. He's broke from the pack several times before when it comes to putting Kate on the spot on questions. Tweeters speculate that he has something on her and that's why she answers his tough questions immediately. Yet Kate hasn't tweeted him directly in what he claimed months ago to be 100 days. Also notice that Iwana seems to have eaten his Wheaties today and is roughing up Underwalt pretty good tonight. Maybe Iwana isn't as wimpy as we once thought? He calls out Kate on questions and will stand up to Walt/Kelly. Anyone have ideas why Kate won't answer this fan/guy/sheeple/admirer?
Russel Crowe owns a ranch half the size of Aus & was personal friend of Steve's. What Terri needs is an event planner. I do think she has enormous expenses for Aus Zoo and is not using money for personal wealth. She gets down and dirty and works every day. Saw 19 Kids & Counting trip to Scotland and Ireland and very impressed again. Calm, polite, interested kids, no screaming by kids or adults, cooperative and had some knowledge of where they were and were learning. So different from the constant meltdown Kate who has about as many helpers as she does kids and still meltsdown worse than the terrified kids.
No disrespect intended, but no way in the world is there some sort of "grant" for a "hasbeen CANCELLED reality celebrity" to travel across the world to eat lunch with some people trying to raise money to feed chimps!

Yes, I'm serious. I have definitely heard of a wealthy patron of some organization setting up a fund for future fundraisers, to bring in speakers or experts. You know, someone to garner some interest in the auction and the other activities for the Zoo and the Warriors campaign.
In fact, when I was trying to figure out a gift to the hospital that saved my life, I talked to the foundation fundraising chairman and was given the suggestion to set up a fund to help a certain group of patients learn about their illness through programs within the hospital. (I'm not saying I'm a wealthy patron, by the way. I'm not.)
My church had a donor give a large amount for bringing in missionaries. Another one gave a large amount for outreach dinners.
With that in mind, I thought some real supporter of Steve Irwin and the Australia Zoo and all its corollaries MIGHT have a created a similar type fund. A fund to bring "names" to the Steve Irwin Gala. In Terri's mind, one "name" may be Kate Gosselin. She wouldn't be my choice, but I wasn't put in charge.
It's not all that outrageous an idea, BTW. It does happen that gifts are given and someone in charge makes mistakes with the funds.
Gary Sinise on twitter and he was at Vegas this weekend with his Lt. Dan Band to raise funds for military families as well as a CSI event. He tweeted reminders where each venue was and the times, he tweeted pictures of himself at both events. When it was over, he properly tweeted thank you to everyone for their support.

Interesting to find out that children get removed from there home due to "neglect" cause mom has too many children to properly supervise them yet they get placed with women who have bio children and other foster children. Even women on welfare foster children. I usually only see the sad side because they are generally trying to dump the kid because they are too much work. Imagine that, a teen with troubles, is a foster child. Generally they get placed in "therapeutic homes." Sorry, enough of that business. I just don't see a lot of great foster homes in my line of work. Funny if Kate gets spackled with enough make up she can look less the hag. Wish there was emotional make up that could make her less a hateful person. Kate has shown me the magic of make up. We see her with that mess of hair shoved under a cap and no make up and that's her real face, which isn't pretty. Then comes a media spot and she looks fairly good. Apparently the 5 minute face is not a good substitute for the 2 hour job or she's too busy and exhausted to do the 5 minute face for trips about town. Which do you suppose it is? Amazing she finally wore an appropriate dress for that Gala yet her first day on the CabinCoupon um dot com job she wore a plunging neckline that required her to don a jacket for her photo. Did she think there would be a lot of men at the new "job" anxious to view her plastic goods? Did she also have her 2 for a buck books up for auction or was that just part of the gift for those that lunched with her? I still roll my eyes over people wanting that trash bin book signed and her bragging on it is her favorite. Yeah, I'd brag about a book that couldn't sell even for a whole book. Not. I admit, I really don't understand bringing Kate in as a fund raiser. All her issues aside, I would think that a genuine Australian celebrity would generate more money. Even if major stars like Nicole Kidman or Russell Crowe are unavailable, TV stars like Claudia Black (Farscape, Stargate SG-1), Yvonne Strahovsky (sp? Chuck), Simon Baker (The Mentalist), or a singer like Olivia Newton John -- someone better known to Australians -- would be more effective in generating interest and money than a washed up, unpleasant grifter like Kate. Kate didn't want to be there on that morning show for a variety of reasons. It was not NY or LA and it was not a national news show. She was there to talk about her new 'job' which is not the 'dream job' she was hoping for after K+8 ended. Plus, they showed a clip of her craptastic dancing nightmare that was DWTS just prior to cutting to her. She then had to force a smile and a good morning once she realized the camera was on her. Her demeanor during the interview was extremely unprofessional and inppropriate. She kicked her leg the entire time and her body language and demeanor was not that of someone people would respond to in a positive way.
Her expression when they cut to her was the same look you see on her face when she's at home in PA and around her kids.
I fell asleep with TLC on after having intended to watch Sister Wives but didn't make it. I heard that voice droning on and on this morning at 6 a.m. and turned over and it was KT, still with the reverse mullet and Jon sitting beside with his shoulders scrunched and his hands in his lap, body language suggesting he couldn't stand being that close to her. Some kind of clarification from her apparently about kids in the snow. I jumped up and could not turn the channel quickly enough. How anyone could be a fan I will never know, even though I used to love the show myself, early on. I saw and heard way more than I would ever need to know about the treatment of those adorable little kids at the hands of their mother, who just wanted 1 more. Okay.
The thing that sucks is that Kate doesn't really CARE about Wildlife Preservation. She doesn't really care about koalas. She could give a shit about zoos & all that. She is only there because it gives her plastic face coverage that would otherwise be sitting on her her leather sofa, tweeting away.

I do find it interesting that there has been so little press coverage, though maybe there will be more about her after Steve Irwin Day tomorrow. Since we know that K+8 is being aired over there right now, why wouldn't some morning TV show have had her on as a guest? It's almost as if she is deliberately keeping a somewhat low profile, which is certainly at odds with her ambitions. Did her manager try to get her some sort of interview but failed?

I believe there was a lunch. I just don't necessarily believe it was auctioned off, or, if it was, that it earned much, if anything, for the Irwin enterprises.
And if it did, Kate's inability to do effective PR before, during or after proves again what a failure she is as the "celebrity" face of anything.
And you all know Thanksgiving, the holiday of family, food, memories, is a blip on her calendar - jet lag from trip to country where they love me, check. Packing for marathon in Vegas, check. Turkey day - maybe the kids are spending it with Dad, they should be that lucky this year.

Yes, she loves koalas the way she loves babies, right up until they get personalities. At that point, she's happy to toss them (literally) under the bus. Or sports car, whatever.
Wonder why Kate doesn't just move to Australia if she loves it so much. If you remember, when Kate first returned from her trip to Australia last year, she went on and on about the koala's, both on the show and on twitter. She insisted she was going to support their rescue and the wildlife warriors. Then, as time past, tweeters would ask her if she had set anything up, or had any information regarding donating to these funds. she kept saying she was "working on it." As far as I know, she has never posted anything on her website or relayed any information on twitter regarding these causes. She is lazy and useless. I could maybe see her getting "invited" to this gala if she had come back last January and really put forth an effort to raise funds for the koalas, but instead she talked about it for a week or so and then did NOTHING. Typical Kate. It leads me to believe that Terri Irwin has alienated enough people in Australia, that she did not have many options for headliners. Maybe TLC did offer to send Kate as a follow up to her episode there. Wouldn't it have been nice if Kate could have reported at the Gala, that she did ANYTHING to raise awareness or funds for the Koalas in the US. Nope. It would have required work on Kate's part.

IRS does not allow charity write-offs for donations to organizations outside the USA.
I read somewhere (Here?) that she cannot deduct charitable contributions unless they go to a US charity..... charity in foreign country is not allowed as tax deduction...

I just can not get myself to be in either camp that thinks Kate paid or didn't pay. I am truly leaning towards Kate being sponsored or hosted, but who knows. Just read on TMZ that Leonardo DiCaprio arrived in Sydney on Monday. He is known as an environmentalist; but I don't see him on Terri Irwin's schedule of attractions. Wouldn't K8 be thrilled to have her picture taken with him though.
NLAN, I would imagine the dental work she was bitching about a little while ago on twitter was from getting her teeth aligned properly. It probably did hurt like a mofo. And I can't imagine how she'd grift that, in fact I remember she griped about how expensive it was, too. The kids bought mommy a new smile, how sweet of them!
I don't know much about dental procedures, but it seems to me that this isn't just a case of realignment, but would require extensive surgery of the upper jaw. You just can't push the upper set of teeth around in one or two procedures. It's not cosmetic, but rather corrective surgery, with a period of recuperation.
No wonder Kate pushed her own family in the background. I doubt that her conservative Christian parents/family would approve of their daughter's home wrecking lifestyle. No wonder there were no phone calls home to Jon just to check on the family during the book tours. Kate's time was happily spent with her new friend, Steve. Poor Gina, invited for holiday dinners while all this mess was going on behind her back. This is all quite sickening and doesn't take a genius to figure it out. We were all duped for a time, Kate, but quickly figured out that after your show ended and TLC quit paying Steve to protect you, there had to be a reason why he hung around. Road manager, my "arse."

I was going through some tweets from the weekend, and the whole mumbear thing seems weird. Her twitter and her blog are both private now that the sheeple know we were checking it out. But, the other night, when she tweeted and blogged about the dinner, she conveniently left out some information that the sheeple were curious about. She never mentioned the auction or what Khate's lunch went for.
Plus, she claims that she talked to Khate, but has NO photos with Khate. She did tweet photos of herself with a snake, plus photos of some other animals at the dinner, and that photo of Khate at the podium. However, if Khate was really so happy to meet a devoted Twitter sheeple, don't you think she'd at least take a quick second to pose for a photo with the sheeple? The non-fans on Twitter think that Khate blew her off, which seems to be the case to me.
Also, on Sunday morning (Sunday evening in Australia), at least a dozen sheeple in Australia replied to Khate's tweet and were shocked she was over there. Some said they wished they had known sooner. How dumb is it that Khate kept the whole thing such a secret? It makes NO sense. Unless, of course, she really does NOT want sheeple around her.

Unless Khate plans to blog about her auction experience on her website, it is interesting that no mention has been made about the final auction price. Not even mumbear made mention of it. I'm with you on this one. Unless Khate's misalignment was causing pain or difficulty in chewing/speaking, most dentists would leave it alone. Despite having braces myself as a tweenager, I have a tiny space in-between my front teeth. As small as the space is, moving the teeth towards the center would have thrown off the perfect "meshing" I already had between the tops and bottoms. I was told I can always fix the space with veneers, but I really don't care to.
As far as I know, Khate already had braces, which she got after marrying Jon (most likely free with Jon's father's dental board perks). Fixing that slight issue of hers probably wasn't worth it.
Jon and Kate + 8 episodes are screened daily on cable in Australia (along with the Duggars, Toddlers and Tiaras and a host of other American so-called reality shows). Relatively few people here are thus able to see them, or choose to watch. I think that a couple of earlier Gosselin episodes have been shown on free-to-air TV over the years. Interest in and awareness of Kate here is virtually nil, hence no mention of her visit in the media in this country. Visiting American big names get fawned over in Australia if they have a profile here (or there is enough hoopla attached, eg Kim Kardashian, who few had heard of before she came and went a couple of weeks ago) but Kate doesn't rate.

It's really no big deal to fix it. It's painless and takes only one office visit to do the bonding. My space was tiny, too, but it kind of bothered me so I had it done, and that was fourteen years ago, and it's held up this long with no chipping or wearing away.
Kate's misalignment would definitely involve oral surgery. It's not an easy fix. It's not a matter of bringing the right side and the left side together with an appliance. It's a shifting of the entire upper jaw.

It is pretty clear that Kate did not intend this to be a high-profile trip for herself, and I wonder why. If TLC were paying for it to help encourage viewership of K+8 in Australia, you would think they would have put together at least a little press. So either there is virtually no interest in her over there, or they didn't pony up for this trip. At a minimum, whether or not they could get her any press, by paying for her trip they could have gotten credit as a sponsor. If they did, they haven't gone public on the Zoo Web site. Wouldn't make a lot of sense no matter how you look at it.
If they didn't pay, then we are left with Terri Irwin funding it, some anonymous donor paying for it (does Kate have a sugar daddy we don't know about?), or Kate paying the bill. If Terri is the source of funds, that could well earn her some flak at home as well as among the people back here who have watched Kate grift her way through life for the past 6 years. If Kate paid for it, well, beyond this being highly unlikely, it would be hard to imagine she WOULDN'T take this opportunity to brag about her magnanimity and devotion to the koalas--a PR coup for her. On the other hand, if she confessed to paying for it, non-fans would be calling her out for crying poor then using the family funds to underwrite something that is not directly contributing to the family income--a PR fail for her. She might try to argue that it's a "business" expense in furtherance of her (ahem) "career," but without an interview (TV or print) to show for it, eh, I think it would be a hard sell, for non-fans and the IRS both.

But I think the process of elimination works well here--if Kate had paid, I think her need to defend her intentions (not to mention broadcast her generosity) would have her owning it in public. If TLC had paid, their name would be in evidence somewhere in connection with a fawning and noncontroversial local interview.
By the way, if the lunch did not end up bringing in a "priceless" bid, then I could see Katie never answering any questions about it. But I think there will be a way to at least get an answer to this.

Look at me, momma, gave/did this for you! Thank God, Jon does not do that, when the kids visit him. Kate does not see the trees, just the forest. Meaning, Kate only sees that the show is shown international, not taking in the fact that the show might be on a pay-Tv system, a cable system, or other and people might not want to pay or whatever to watch her show, for reasons of their own. Someone over at TLC pumped a lot of fame shit into Kates mind, and the fame hungry Kate believes every word, and is tryin to live it.

I can only imagine the horrible lunch with Kate the "winning" fans had to endure. The fans probably ordered a normal meal while Kate most likely ordered a large bowl of lettuce w/salad spritzer, two beans and six almonds.

I have to agree and it doesn't bother me a bit and doesn't detract from her "outward" attractiveness at all...in fact, I think she should make it her "own" and OWN IT as her signature look, just like Barbra Streisand has accepted and owned her nose as her signature look and how Lauren Hutton, the former model, owned and made the gap between her two front teeth her signature style.

Khate has not only put herself in the public spotlight in the most intimate way possible - by opening up her family's home to television cameras - but she has televised extremely private moments of her children's lives, and discussed very personal details. So, for that reason alone, she does not get the pass that most people would get as far as scrutinizing every detail of her and her life. If an international television audience, including YouTubers and pedophiles, have been made privy to her son's bathroom issues, or seen her daughters entirely naked, well then poor little Khate will have to suffer the "indignity" of having her messed up teeth scrutinized. Too effin bad. Frankly, I don't think she really gives a crap, as long as people ARE talking about her. She's sick like that, you know.
Even the diet coke is "once in a while," it is still empty calories. Just because it says diet really isn't doing her body any favors.

Okay, you're correct. Sorry, you didn't "tell" anyone what to discuss or not discuss. You merely stated that "maybe everyone should give it a rest". So, I will rephrase my post and say that "I'm also not a big fan of the posts here that SUGGEST what we should and should not discuss." Usually, when I'm not "comfortable" or interested in discussing a certain topic here, I just don't post.
I still think Khate deserves NO pass on anything, given what she has done to her children. And, I really don't think she cares if people scrutinize her teeth. Some day, though, her children will be faced with the horror that the world was able to scrutinize their bathroom issues, potty training, and nudity.
Dee, I'm with you on the teeth thing. I had braces in my late 30s, and Tom Cruise had them on at the same time. It drove my orthodontist and his staff NUTS that Tom Cruise has the same center misalignment - just like Kate's. It would take extensive, years-long orthodontia to fix that, exactly as wayward said. (Don't know how you can surgically shift an upper jaw, as that is the stationary jaw.) In fact, I had a tooth out eventually to bring my protruding upper teeth back because I refused to wear the painful headgear 12 hours a day, and it took a YEAR for that space to close up and the roots to be aligned straight up and down. I spent 3 years in braces. Tom Cruise did not stick with his treatment. After taking the braces off for roles and putting them back on several times, he finally gave up, and his big tooth is right under his nose too. He can't help it, or didn't stick with the treatment TO fix it. It's not a character flaw, it just is.

I made one of the orginal comments about the tooth alignment and I'm sticking with it. I don't know the bitch from adam and look at the nasty cracks she made about Mady's bad teeth when they went to the dentist years ago, and this is her kid who she supposedly loves. I so agree w/ this. There's so much to genuinely criticize Kate for, and she deserves every bit of it, but I will NEVER criticize ANYONE for something they can't help--i.e., something they were born with. My brother was born with a cleft palate and had a number of surgeries but it was long before such surgeries were common, and, therefore, it's still quite obvious. I defended him as a little girl against teasing, and it was and remains a sensitive subject to me and not just for that specific issue but for anyone who has any type of physical defect.
I think the sheeple are quiet because they either can't afford or are smart enough not to buy these stupid makeup boxes. But no one has the heart to tell Kate. They want to be able to be in the club with her and tweet away about how fabulous their boxes are. I don't think even Milo has said she would buy one.

Wildlife Warriors is a separate entity to Australia Zoo. It is involved with conservation efforts, primarily in preserving endangered species (Tasmanian devil, Sumatran Orangutans, etc).

I tend to agree. If she and Kate were spending time together, I think she would have kept her twitter public so she could share how privileged she is.

I really think someone urged her to wear a more conservative dress for that dinner. Think about how she normally prefers to dress. No way would she wear something with no cleavage completely of her own accord.
As for her and Steve, I have a hard time caring, nut I generally think she's pretty asexual. And even if it is a real relationship, it'll end soon enough--it's Kate.

Marie, apple pie was an essential part of T-giving at our house. My dad would plunk a wedge of Cheddar cheese on top of it. I never understood why..... Anyway, pumpkin pie was sometimes offered, but apple pie, always! Apples are best in the fall.
Different strokes for different folks. A friend of mine used to serve turkey, all the trimmings plus chicken chow mein on Thanksgiving. That was something else I didn't understand, but it was a tradition in their non-Asian family.

My Mom always made scalloped oysters for Thanksgiving. My dad loved them. The rest of us -- not so much. I like cheddar cheese with apple pie, if I eat apple pie. My dad used to put gravy on his apple pie. Apparently he learned that from his father, whom I don't remember. I always thought that looked disgusting.
At least the koala in the above picture with Kate doesn't look like it's trying to escape, the way the other one she was photographed with did. I agree though, it would be nice to see her hugging her children like that.
Carezee -- I know what you mean. We had 4 snowfalls of over 10" last year, plus a big ice storm that dumped 4 1/2" of ice on top of a couple of inches of snow. I spent over two weeks trapped in my house because I couldn't get the door open. Y'all in the Buffalo area get it much worse than we do. There's a big cat show there (well, in Hamburg) every year the w/e after Thanksgiving, and I got stuck for 3 extra days one year, because y'all had a big lake-effect snowstorm and the turnpike in PA and Ohio closed down. Thankfully, I had a motel room. A couple of my friends made it as far as Erie and got stuck on the turnpike. They spent the night in their van - 3 people and 5 unhappy cats.

If I remember correctly, they were Marmite chips. Marmite is a spread that many Brits and many Australians enjoy spread on toast, and so I guess they have used the flavor on "crisps"
(potato chips) as well.
It's kind of like ketchup flavored and dill pickle flavored potato chips that are available.
Whatever flavor people enjoy eventually gets made into a chip/crisp.
My guess is that if Perth has marmite chips, they are also available in Brisbane. Why they would have to be transported cross-continent

Scalloped oysters! YES! Thanksgiving and Christmas. My sister's mother-in-law made the best oysters on the planet. We all have her recipe, but somehow they never turn out the way that she made them.
Like most Aussies I was raised on Vegemite (not Marmite, which is a British version). Vegemite is a ssavoury spread made from yeast extract, much the colour and consistency of boot polish! Hard to describe the taste but it is pretty salty. Those new to it seems either to love it or hate it.
Kraft has recently bought out a Vegemite-flavoured potato chip, so I guess that's what's being dicussed.
On the subject of foster carers - in this country, at least, they are poorly remunerated for looking after often very difficult or disabled children. No one does it for the money,
only because they have a big heart.
If Kate's Aussie fan has Kate all wrong, as we thinks she has, that's a completely different
issue. The snarks about fostering are off-beam.

Somehow I don't think though as a woman who has to have control all the time that Kate cares if she's a laughing stock honestly. Just as long as someone is there to take her picture, hold her hand, strok her ego and pay for her whatever. As long as she can control her ex and her kids she's a happy camper.
Her one stint at food bank wasn't even heartfelt. I've seen homelessness, people sleep in the park. Battered women. I mean Kate really thinks life would be so horrible if she didn't work on TV. "Scrapping by in society," Come on! She is just too darn lazy to want to try. I'd like to see how'd she'd fair living in a homeless shelter for a week just to get an idea of how lucky she is.

That is really the bottom line ( what you said ). The zoo can't afford it. Kate shouldn't be wasting money on it since she no longer has a show and is "worried" about her future. So the sensible thing would've been for her to decline and send a donation. The money spent by either the zoo or herself in travel/lodging costs would've helped the animals so much more. I bet whomever paid for her expenses paid way more in that than any donations Kate generated for being there.
Who would have paid for, say, Nicole Kidman to fly to Australia for this? Yes, it's her homeland, but still, she lives in the USA, doesn't she? Or if Nicole isn't a good example, what about another really famous person they might choose to invite?
Perhaps they have some kind of a grant set up for bringing in featured people? Just an idea.
After all, if you are "invited", it usually means you get a free ride.

I remember once I was invited to attend lunch with a group of friends at a swanky dining room that was affiliated with the university where she taught, a room used for special faculty events. One woman at our church invited us all. She sent out fancy invitations. Imagine our surprise when she asked for individual checks. You should have seen the trips to the restroom or the coat room for us to see who had brought some extra cash or a credit card to help the rest of us out. I had walked in with less than $20.00, and the meal was well over that. Our "hostess" also asked us to not forget to leave a tip on the table!
When you're "invited", you're a guest, I thought.
I think Terri Irwin has ruined the image of the zoo that her late husband and father in law so loved by exploiting her own kids and mismanaging it. Think about it. Steve Irwin's dad walked away from the zoo because of her; must be something seriously wrong with how she's running things for him to bolt. I think they settled on Kate because they couldn't find anyone decent who would agree to appear. It's a floundering charity riding on the coattails of Steve reduced to affiliating with a has-been non-celebrity riding on the coattails of her victims/kids.

No disrespect intended, but no way in the world is there some sort of "grant" for a "hasbeen CANCELLED reality celebrity" to travel across the world to eat lunch with some people trying to raise money to feed chimps!
My guess is Terri Irwin somehow bonded with her (sadly) and was desperate enough to somehow foot the bill (or rather the $$$ that Bindi earns) for this "any excuse to get away and have my picture taken and be relavent" Kate AND her "body guard" to come to the event.
IF someone like Nicole Kidman was involved, I could understand the charity paying her way- knowing that they could easily ask thousands per seat for the opportunity to sit with a class act highly respected actress, mother, and filanthrapist!
After the crappy flea mart toy sales, food bank fiasco, and Red Cross "centerfold" she is going to have to do a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooot of GIVING before I even start think she is doing ANYTHING for "charity." SHE HAS HAD HER HANDS OUT FOR WAY TOO LONG TO BELIEVE ANYTHING ELSE.
I grew up in foster care.. I will tell you, it's not done for the money. My FM had up to 6 or more girls (teens) at a time. I can tell you food alone broke her.. She took us shopping on her dime, brought us on mini vacations, gave us weekly allowance for helping out on chores, and the most important thing was, she gave up her home to love and take care of us.. Yes, they get paid. But it's squat. People do foster care put of their heart. Yes, there are bad egg foster parents. But they either don't last, or, are out to abuse.. I've seen it all. But mostly good.
That said, Kate still sucks. Lol

I don't know for some people foster care is done for the money. I'd like to think, only a small minority. The system is better regulated than it used to be. Not everyone is in it for the right motives, but I don't see any evidence this particular sheeple doesn't have a pure heart for foster kids. I think a lot of sheeple are actually quite good people. There are only a few really vile ones out there that are truly off their rocker. Their love of Kate comes from maybe something that wasn't resolved in their childhood, immaturity to still be worshiping celebs at their age, mommy issues, or a bad marriage they never worked through (I remember one of the high sheeple once going on and on about her terrible divorce and even worse ex), a fierce though naive belief that all mommies should stick together (maybe they're busy with their foster kids and don't watch a lot of news to realize there are some really bad mommies out there you should not support), and so on. And that's my analysis of a sheeple!
The Zoo is the main sponsor of this Wildlife Warriors charity. There were articles from back in February of this year all about the mismanagement of the zoo under Terri Irwin's ownership and direction, including speculation that the financial difficulties would leave to its eventual closure. As I recall, zoo income was down and about two dozen employees were laid off. Terri blamed the financial difficulties on the bad global economy and the terrible weather in Australia.
I still think the Zoo has a lot of money to spend as Terri sees fit. She is the owner and director, and for some reason she wanted Khate flown in for the event, (and likely was unable to get anyone else, any real celebs). I do not think this trip is costing Khate one cent. All of her expenses, including Steve, are being paid for by the Zoo, and Khate is also being paid a fee for this.
Btw, not only are Terri and her kids estranged from Steve Irwin' family, but I read an article about the celebration of the Zoo's fortieth anniversary last year and Steve's father was left completely out of it. In addition to not being invited to take part at all, his name was left completely out of any of the information about the zoo, as if he never existed, even though HE is the one who founded the Zoo forty years ago! Don't forget, he is widely reported to have left the zoo over concerns over Terri's handling of the zoo, over her increasing commercialism of the zoo and movement away from Steve's focus on conservation efforts, and the pushing of Bindi into being the face of the Zoo empire. As I've posted before, one of the articles said that Terri has a new production partner, Fremantle Media, and there are 11 new television and multimedia projects on the drawing board for Bindi.
I believe the snark is on the Aussie Sheep, not on foster care. We all know foster parents get paid crap, some do it out of the goodness of their hearts, some are just that lazy and desperate. The system is not perfect, there are wonderful stories and there are people out there you want to pound the crap out of.
Back to this sheep, IF she has 9 kids at home, some with disabilities, why would she even waste the time and money to fly half way across the country to meet & have dinner with a Z-list celebrity? Just because she has 9 kids at home, she immediately identifies with Khate and is one of her staunch supporters. I would think someone with that many kids would or should see clearly what a half ass parent Khate is. Not only has she wasted her time and money, so has the Australian Zoo. Lack of local publicity or news is very telling of how successful the event is.
From what I've read on Mumbear9's tweets, she seems like a nice woman and may be a little naive if anything? Kate added her to her list of followers a few months back to "discuss" some things, which is the first clue that we knew Kate had pretty solid plans on going back to Australia. I think its a little unfair to judge Mumbear and to say what she should spend her money on. She openly said she hasn't been out on vacation by herself in many years and if she is fostering 9 kids, Lord knows some of that hard earned money should spent on herself enjoying an adventure. I feel bad that she traveled that far just to be disappointed with a fake smile and a 1 minute "Hi, I'm Kate. Who are you? Would you like my autograph? Here you go, have a nice day."
What does get me wound up still though is it is bad enough that someone had to spring for Kate and her accomodations and airfare, but also had to pay for the flip-flop cop? Serious? If Anjelina or Nicole Kidman were invited, would they require they bring their boobyguard and have his way paid too?
Where is Gina in all of this? I cant understand what Steve must say to her every other weekend when he says he has to go somewhere to "protect" Kate and packs all of his leisure clothes. Either Gina is blind, doesn't care, or her and Steve have an agreement to milk the cow for all they can get out of her and then fade into the sunset after Kate completes her circling the drain process.

My 2 cents on who paid for what; Kates show recently started airing in Australia and last weeks episode was somewhat of a prelude or a tie-in to this whole event. TLC aired the old zoo episode from this past spring just this past week on their Australian network. It seems obvious to me that TLC probably told Kate that she has contractual obligations (?) and they cut the deal where TLC would pay for her to go plug and promote the show, plus the zoo got exposure, so it looks like a win-win-win for all 3 involved.
Kate got her free trip. She could give two shits less about any personal pay for her time, just give me the free trip and make damn sure my lover, errr....purseboy, um...daddy, well honestly my road managerish guy gets to go with for free too.
TLC wins with cheap promotion for their show in a country that has yet to see the negative garbage about Kate the exploiter.
The Zoo wins with having a cheap celeb hug koalas and smile a big fake canned pose smile for media coverage.

Perhaps the Mumbears of the world with large families are sheeple because they, like her, have several kids and they see that she can live a life of privilege and they can't. It seems contradictory in a way, but they admire that lifestyle and it gives them some kind of hope that if she can do it, possibly there is that chance that something like that can come there way. It's kind of the Cinderella effect. Dream it, and it may come. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with good parenting or the fact that they are doing things much better than she does.

Not a peep from the "Queen" herself since her I'm having so much fun (without the kids) tweet. Kim K. maybe a public toilet, but she knew how to use social media. I follow Gary Sinise on twitter and he was at Vegas this weekend with his Lt. Dan Band to raise funds for military families as well as a CSI event. He tweeted reminders where each venue was and the times, he tweeted pictures of himself at both events. When it was over, he properly tweeted thank you to everyone for their support. This is how a real classy celebrity use social media to promote his cause.
So it's 3:30 in the afternoon on Monday where she is, at least a couple of hours since the lunch ended, if it took place. No tweets from the twit. You'd think she'd want to make a big deal out of it and at least mention it.

Kate won't mention a thing on Twitter, not in Steve's presence. Her "one-and-out" tweets are while Steve is in the bathroom. It has been well noted that whenever Steve is with her, Kate does NOT tweet.
It's no surprise that Iwana asked about the luncheon. He's broke from the pack several times before when it comes to putting Kate on the spot on questions. The irony is she never answers him, nor does she ever tweet anything to him, but she will typically answer the question right after he asks. He was the sheeple that asked Kate about the Audi after 8 hours of silence and she answered. And he asked her about that Kasey Kreider when no one else would and Kate answered, minus Iwanas ID in the tweet. Tweeters speculate that he has something on her and that's why she answers his tough questions immediately. Yet Kate hasn't tweeted him directly in what he claimed months ago to be 100 days.
Also notice that Iwana seems to have eaten his Wheaties today and is roughing up Underwalt pretty good tonight. Maybe Iwana isn't as wimpy as we once thought? He calls out Kate on questions and will stand up to Walt/Kelly. Anyone have ideas why Kate won't answer this fan/guy/sheeple/admirer?
Russel Crowe owns a ranch half the size of Aus & was personal friend of Steve's. What Terri needs is an event planner. I do think she has enormous expenses for Aus Zoo and is not using money for personal wealth. She gets down and dirty and works every day.
Saw 19 Kids & Counting trip to Scotland and Ireland and very impressed again. Calm, polite, interested kids, no screaming by kids or adults, cooperative and had some knowledge of where they were and were learning. So different from the constant meltdown Kate who has about as many helpers as she does kids and still meltsdown worse than the terrified kids.

Yes, I'm serious. I have definitely heard of a wealthy patron of some organization setting up a fund for future fundraisers, to bring in speakers or experts. You know, someone to garner some interest in the auction and the other activities for the Zoo and the Warriors campaign.
In fact, when I was trying to figure out a gift to the hospital that saved my life, I talked to the foundation fundraising chairman and was given the suggestion to set up a fund to help a certain group of patients learn about their illness through programs within the hospital. (I'm not saying I'm a wealthy patron, by the way. I'm not.)
My church had a donor give a large amount for bringing in missionaries. Another one gave a large amount for outreach dinners.
With that in mind, I thought some real supporter of Steve Irwin and the Australia Zoo and all its corollaries MIGHT have a created a similar type fund. A fund to bring "names" to the Steve Irwin Gala. In Terri's mind, one "name" may be Kate Gosselin. She wouldn't be my choice, but I wasn't put in charge.
It's not all that outrageous an idea, BTW. It does happen that gifts are given and someone in charge makes mistakes with the funds.

I've seen mostly single women with foster children and usually they have more then one. Interesting to find out that children get removed from there home due to "neglect" cause mom has too many children to properly supervise them yet they get placed with women who have bio children and other foster children. Even women on welfare foster children.
I usually only see the sad side because they are generally trying to dump the kid because they are too much work. Imagine that, a teen with troubles, is a foster child. Generally they get placed in "therapeutic homes."
Sorry, enough of that business. I just don't see a lot of great foster homes in my line of work.
Funny if Kate gets spackled with enough make up she can look less the hag. Wish there was emotional make up that could make her less a hateful person. Kate has shown me the magic of make up. We see her with that mess of hair shoved under a cap and no make up and that's her real face, which isn't pretty. Then comes a media spot and she looks fairly good. Apparently the 5 minute face is not a good substitute for the 2 hour job or she's too busy and exhausted to do the 5 minute face for trips about town. Which do you suppose it is?
Amazing she finally wore an appropriate dress for that Gala yet her first day on the CabinCoupon um dot com job she wore a plunging neckline that required her to don a jacket for her photo. Did she think there would be a lot of men at the new "job" anxious to view her plastic goods?
Did she also have her 2 for a buck books up for auction or was that just part of the gift for those that lunched with her? I still roll my eyes over people wanting that trash bin book signed and her bragging on it is her favorite. Yeah, I'd brag about a book that couldn't sell even for a whole book. Not.

I admit, I really don't understand bringing Kate in as a fund raiser. All her issues aside, I would think that a genuine Australian celebrity would generate more money. Even if major stars like Nicole Kidman or Russell Crowe are unavailable, TV stars like Claudia Black (Farscape, Stargate SG-1), Yvonne Strahovsky (sp? Chuck), Simon Baker (The Mentalist), or a singer like Olivia Newton John -- someone better known to Australians -- would be more effective in generating interest and money than a washed up, unpleasant grifter like Kate. Not to mention that Kate's only interest is in promoting Kate.

That look on her face is a universal look of a malignant narcissist at their worst. My mother in law is a narcissist like Kate and I've seen that same look numerous times. I can guarantee you that it's a look 8 kids in PA see on a regular basis.
Kate didn't want to be there on that morning show for a variety of reasons. It was not NY or LA and it was not a national news show. She was there to talk about her new 'job' which is not the 'dream job' she was hoping for after K+8 ended. Plus, they showed a clip of her craptastic dancing nightmare that was DWTS just prior to cutting to her. She then had to force a smile and a good morning once she realized the camera was on her. Her demeanor during the interview was extremely unprofessional and inppropriate. She kicked her leg the entire time and her body language and demeanor was not that of someone people would respond to in a positive way.
Her expression when they cut to her was the same look you see on her face when she's at home in PA and around her kids.

I fell asleep with TLC on after having intended to watch Sister Wives but didn't make it. I heard that voice droning on and on this morning at 6 a.m. and turned over and it was KT, still with the reverse mullet and Jon sitting beside with his shoulders scrunched and his hands in his lap, body language suggesting he couldn't stand being that close to her. Some kind of clarification from her apparently about kids in the snow. I jumped up and could not turn the channel quickly enough. How anyone could be a fan I will never know, even though I used to love the show myself, early on. I saw and heard way more than I would ever need to know about the treatment of those adorable little kids at the hands of their mother, who just wanted 1 more. Okay.
The thing that sucks is that Kate doesn't really CARE about Wildlife Preservation. She doesn't really care about koalas. She could give a shit about zoos & all that. She is only there because it gives her plastic face coverage that would otherwise be sitting on her her leather sofa, tweeting away.
I said on a different thread that the only reason Kate was picked because NOBODY else would go to AUS & do anything. Or the people even IN AUS would not help. A luncheon with Kate Gosselin? Whoopeedeedoo! It seems nobody wants to help Terri Irwin. Kate will do it though because it makes her feel relevant. Kate said YES! I'll hug a koala! I don't hug my kids!

Kate just does not garner interest. At all. Not even in the states. Her show in canceled. It's not like she is a famous Aussie. Colin Hay would have been a better choice. (LOVE HIM!) Hell, Bethany Frankel even. But then again, Frankel didn't exploit her kids, right?

I don't believe we will ever know exactly how much Kate's lunch brought in--unless someone who was at the dinner talks about it. If Kate herself offers a story on it, who would believe it?
I think it is possible that TLC picked up her expenses for this jaunt, but in that case, why wouldn't they take the opportunity to pick up a sponsorship credit?
I do find it interesting that there has been so little press coverage, though maybe there will be more about her after Steve Irwin Day tomorrow. Since we know that K+8 is being aired over there right now, why wouldn't some morning TV show have had her on as a guest? It's almost as if she is deliberately keeping a somewhat low profile, which is certainly at odds with her ambitions. Did her manager try to get her some sort of interview but failed?
I guess we can only wait and see if anything else comes out. And then try to figure out how much of what comes out is true.

Dress her up all you want, slap her make-up on with a trowel (and she takes it off with a putty knife) put some hooker heels on her and she's ready to go in her own country. No, Kate, you just don't make it anywhere!
And of course at the end of her tweet, Kate made sure to exclaim how grateful she is for another day there...because, you know, she HAS to make it just about herself somehow.
It does appear that she has found her niche in Australia; she's sooo happy to be there, and with peope who fawn over her since they hardly know her. Has she ever done ANYTHING remotely charitable here that was not being filmed by TLC? Sit down to lunch with 8 strangers here? Hardly. Feh, the Aussies can kerp her, that works for me. If they want to pay for this piece of work AND her manager boy, and get back so little in return, let them. Yes, she loves koalas the way she loves babies, right up until they get personalities. At that point, she's happy to toss them (literally) under the bus. Or sports car, whatever.
Wonder why Kate doesn't just move to Australia if she loves it so much. She has no family left here that she hasn't trashed, no friends left, and she and Terri could be best buds and maybe Bindi could get work for her kids. Oh but wait, they have a father here who can stop her from taking them from the country. That must frustrate her to no end knowing that ultimately he can stop her from moving them anywhere without his permission. He is now and will always continue to be their father.
If you remember, when Kate first returned from her trip to Australia last year, she went on and on about the koala's, both on the show and on twitter. She insisted she was going to support their rescue and the wildlife warriors. Then, as time past, tweeters would ask her if she had set anything up, or had any information regarding donating to these funds. she kept saying she was "working on it." As far as I know, she has never posted anything on her website or relayed any information on twitter regarding these causes. She is lazy and useless. I could maybe see her getting "invited" to this gala if she had come back last January and really put forth an effort to raise funds for the koalas, but instead she talked about it for a week or so and then did NOTHING. Typical Kate. It leads me to believe that Terri Irwin has alienated enough people in Australia, that she did not have many options for headliners. Maybe TLC did offer to send Kate as a follow up to her episode there. Wouldn't it have been nice if Kate could have reported at the Gala, that she did ANYTHING to raise awareness or funds for the Koalas in the US. Nope. It would have required work on Kate's part.

1. I wonder how Kate felt about the koala hairs left behind on her black dress? Unless the koala was thoroughly washed and brushed beforehand, it likely left those clingy hairs behind. What better a backdrop for hair than black material.
2. I'm thinking this trip was fully funded by Khate. It's the end of the year and time's running out for 2011 tax write-offs. Because this was a charitable function she may be able to write off the entire expense and have a great time in her 2nd favorite country at the same time... not to mention being away from the G8. Many would prefer to spend the money instead of paying taxes on it.

IRS does not allow charity write-offs for donations to organizations outside the USA.

I just can not get myself to be in either camp that thinks Kate paid or didn't pay. I am truly leaning towards Kate being sponsored or hosted, but who knows. TLC is running her show over there now and she seems to be the big draw "talent" (boy, that boggles our minds here in America!).
I just hope that the kids have got to spend as much time with Jon as possible and that he was able to take care of them. I also hope the kids spend Turkey day with Jon and maybe, gasp!, family.

I get the feeling that Kate dislikes that Jon has some parental authority over the kids, and therefore is able to prevent Kate from doing far more, especially without TLC in her pocket.
I can see Kate trying to control her boys when they are in their early 20s and she might make one or two of her daughter's her sub-servants to keep her company. I just see her as type. As long as Kate can control SOMEONE she'll be happy.
I'm not an accountant, but I bet the trip could be a write off for her as "promotion".

I agree with a couple of people here, that TLC might have picked up the tab for sending Kate & purseboy to Aussie. Why, cause out of nowhere TLC ran a episode of JK8 today. JK8 is running in Aussie, so a question for any of you Aussie is: are there commercials with Kate promo JK8, or K8? Or is Kate gonna write this off as a charity donation or a business trip? I find it hard to believe that Kate would shell out any of her own money for a trip to Aussie, since it is very expensive to do so now, actually for any trip by plane. Or cause reading how screwed up the Zoo's finances are, I would not put it past that they flipped for Kate's trip, after all Kate and Mrs. Irwin have bonded, cause they are so much alike, they are like twins. I'm sure if Kate spit in a napkin, her fans would bid for it. DNA. Fans will go to the extreme, just short of calling them stalkers. They ride the line. Oprah, on one of her shows had obsessed Martha Stewart fans on, they would go broke buying and doing everything Martha did. They are in everything, sad people.

Didn't Kate tweet something a while back about "loving" to promote TLC internationally (and some speculated that she was kissing TLC's behind)? She'd done some international radio interview.
TLC could be paying for this for marketing the show overseas. Which could mean Kate may have other trips overseas in the future.
Just read on TMZ that Leonardo DiCaprio arrived in Sydney on Monday. He is known as an environmentalist; but I don't see him on Terri Irwin's schedule of attractions. Wouldn't K8 be thrilled to have her picture taken with him though.

NLAN, I would imagine the dental work she was bitching about a little while ago on twitter was from getting her teeth aligned properly. It probably did hurt like a mofo. And I can't imagine how she'd grift that, in fact I remember she griped about how expensive it was, too. The kids bought mommy a new smile, how sweet of them!
I don't know much about dental procedures, but it seems to me that this isn't just a case of realignment, but would require extensive surgery of the upper jaw. You just can't push the upper set of teeth around in one or two procedures. It's not cosmetic, but rather corrective surgery, with a period of recuperation.
No wonder Kate pushed her own family in the background. I doubt that her conservative Christian parents/family would approve of their daughter's home wrecking lifestyle. No wonder there were no phone calls home to Jon just to check on the family during the book tours. Kate's time was happily spent with her new friend, Steve. Poor Gina, invited for holiday dinners while all this mess was going on behind her back. This is all quite sickening and doesn't take a genius to figure it out. We were all duped for a time, Kate, but quickly figured out that after your show ended and TLC quit paying Steve to protect you, there had to be a reason why he hung around. Road manager, my "arse."
Another thing, maybe Jon knew more than he ever let out. Probably wants to protect the kids even now. He made his mistakes, but apparently we were led down the wrong path by the tabloids and Kate where Jon is concerned. This whole story is quite seedy, don't you think? It will take more than a conservative little black dress to make me change my opinion of Kate. It's still "lipstick on a pig" to me. Still a greedy grifter with an inflated ego.
I was going through some tweets from the weekend, and the whole mumbear thing seems weird. Her twitter and her blog are both private now that the sheeple know we were checking it out. But, the other night, when she tweeted and blogged about the dinner, she conveniently left out some information that the sheeple were curious about. She never mentioned the auction or what Khate's lunch went for.
Plus, she claims that she talked to Khate, but has NO photos with Khate. She did tweet photos of herself with a snake, plus photos of some other animals at the dinner, and that photo of Khate at the podium. However, if Khate was really so happy to meet a devoted Twitter sheeple, don't you think she'd at least take a quick second to pose for a photo with the sheeple? The non-fans on Twitter think that Khate blew her off, which seems to be the case to me.
Also, on Sunday morning (Sunday evening in Australia), at least a dozen sheeple in Australia replied to Khate's tweet and were shocked she was over there. Some said they wished they had known sooner. How dumb is it that Khate kept the whole thing such a secret? It makes NO sense. Unless, of course, she really does NOT want sheeple around her.

I'm with you on this one. Unless Khate's misalignment was causing pain or difficulty in chewing/speaking, most dentists would leave it alone. Despite having braces myself as a tweenager, I have a tiny space in-between my front teeth. As small as the space is, moving the teeth towards the center would have thrown off the perfect "meshing" I already had between the tops and bottoms. I was told I can always fix the space with veneers, but I really don't care to.
As far as I know, Khate already had braces, which she got after marrying Jon (most likely free with Jon's father's dental board perks). Fixing that slight issue of hers probably wasn't worth it.
Jon and Kate + 8 episodes are screened daily on cable in Australia (along with the Duggars, Toddlers and Tiaras and a host of other American so-called reality shows). Relatively few people here are thus able to see them, or choose to watch. I think that a couple of earlier Gosselin episodes have been shown on free-to-air TV over the years.
Interest in and awareness of Kate here is virtually nil, hence no mention of her visit in the media in this country. Visiting American big names get fawned over in Australia if they have a profile here (or there is enough hoopla attached, eg Kim Kardashian, who few had heard of before she came and went a couple of weeks ago) but Kate doesn't rate.

It's really no big deal to fix it. It's painless and takes only one office visit to do the bonding. My space was tiny, too, but it kind of bothered me so I had it done, and that was fourteen years ago, and it's held up this long with no chipping or wearing away.
Kate's misalignment would definitely involve oral surgery. It's not an easy fix. It's not a matter of bringing the right side and the left side together with an appliance. It's a shifting of the entire upper jaw.

It is pretty clear that Kate did not intend this to be a high-profile trip for herself, and I wonder why. If TLC were paying for it to help encourage viewership of K+8 in Australia, you would think they would have put together at least a little press. So either there is virtually no interest in her over there, or they didn't pony up for this trip. At a minimum, whether or not they could get her any press, by paying for her trip they could have gotten credit as a sponsor. If they did, they haven't gone public on the Zoo Web site. Wouldn't make a lot of sense no matter how you look at it.
If they didn't pay, then we are left with Terri Irwin funding it, some anonymous donor paying for it (does Kate have a sugar daddy we don't know about?), or Kate paying the bill. If Terri is the source of funds, that could well earn her some flak at home as well as among the people back here who have watched Kate grift her way through life for the past 6 years. If Kate paid for it, well, beyond this being highly unlikely, it would be hard to imagine she WOULDN'T take this opportunity to brag about her magnanimity and devotion to the koalas--a PR coup for her. On the other hand, if she confessed to paying for it, non-fans would be calling her out for crying poor then using the family funds to underwrite something that is not directly contributing to the family income--a PR fail for her. She might try to argue that it's a "business" expense in furtherance of her (ahem) "career," but without an interview (TV or print) to show for it, eh, I think it would be a hard sell, for non-fans and the IRS both.
So we are left with the "anonymous donor" theory. Who might this be? If he/she exists, we'll never know. Bottom line, I don't think we're meant to know the answers to any of the questions about who's paying for what.
But I think the process of elimination works well here--if Kate had paid, I think her need to defend her intentions (not to mention broadcast her generosity) would have her owning it in public. If TLC had paid, their name would be in evidence somewhere in connection with a fawning and noncontroversial local interview.
By the way, if the lunch did not end up bringing in a "priceless" bid, then I could see Katie never answering any questions about it. But I think there will be a way to at least get an answer to this.
I wonder if Steve is monitoring the interest in the U.S. and saw the comments regarding mumbears9's tweets. As her road manager(ahem) he may have suggested she go *private* with her tweets, just as he requested the blogger a while back to delete pictures.

My youngest son had misalignment. A tooth had to be pulled before his braces were put on to make room for the teeth to shift to the right position.

I have to agree and it doesn't bother me a bit and doesn't detract from her "outward" attractiveness at all...in fact, I think she should make it her "own" and OWN IT as her signature look, just like Barbra Streisand has accepted and owned her nose as her signature look and how Lauren Hutton, the former model, owned and made the gap between her two front teeth her signature style.

Well, Dee, I understand your post, but I'm also not a big fan of the posts here that tell others what we should and should not discuss. I won't elaborate any further on that comment because then I would just be guilty of the same.
Khate has not only put herself in the public spotlight in the most intimate way possible - by opening up her family's home to television cameras - but she has televised extremely private moments of her children's lives, and discussed very personal details. So, for that reason alone, she does not get the pass that most people would get as far as scrutinizing every detail of her and her life. If an international television audience, including YouTubers and pedophiles, have been made privy to her son's bathroom issues, or seen her daughters entirely naked, well then poor little Khate will have to suffer the "indignity" of having her messed up teeth scrutinized. Too effin bad. Frankly, I don't think she really gives a crap, as long as people ARE talking about her. She's sick like that, you know.
Even the diet coke is "once in a while," it is still empty calories. Just because it says diet really isn't doing her body any favors.
I don't say this to be mean or prudish to those who drink it. I just grew up in a house where everything you put in your body was watched, criticized or pointed out about why it was wrong.
If Kate is so food obsessed and all she eats is salad...that's also not doing her body any favors. Where is the nutrients? You know: eggs, fish, grain. I know a lot of that stuff gets flax (sp?) but if you cooked it right it is fine.
I can only imagine people at that table! Not to meantion her poor kids. She is setting them up for life and I don't think it's fair. She blew up about pizza and fries, telling kids they could eat salad that's when it hit me she possibly is food controlling. Already seen her serve her kids, at home and at restaurants.

Oh my, was Khate's little intro and what she had to say so very awkward. She said Maddie wants to be a veterinarian. Then she talked about how they saved that bird that fell out of the tree.
I only hear about five people clapping for the entire show, not just Khate.

NLAN, thanks for the Live Feed...LMAO at Kate's bird story...it was a nice thing to do but to talk about it as though it was some major kind of world contribution was just awkward (as you stated), stupid, and pathetic. She's such a LOSER. I rescued a Dove that some cats had attacked once and took it to the Vet; I also took a baby bird that fell from its nest to the vet...aren't I special! Time for DWTS.

I tuned into the live streaming thinking I must have missed Kate since she was supposed to go on at 10:30 a.m. their time. But maybe she was late and held things up? I tuned in just in time to see her take the stage at about 10:55.
She didn't even "open" anything like they said. It was just Terri and Kate talking about absolutely nothing for 30 seconds and that was it. Weird and yes, lame. No wonder Terri is running the zoo into the ground, she really hasn't the first clue.
Wow, live feed: A BIG nothing! Kate is introduced to very polite but very moderate applause, stammers through some crap about the "honor of being here," clip of K+8 (no mention that it is now CANCELLED, duh), then she inarticulately says how being in AUS in January w/kids was "life-changing" because Mady now wants to be a vet (Hey, what happened to Disney star? Maybe she'll do both), and then tells about putting a baby bird back in the nest (which she detailed months ago on Twitter--with pictures--before a rapt audience of fans back in the NON-cancelled days).
Honestly (haha), if SHE is the big deal here, whoever ponied up for the expenses has wasted their money. Pathetic showing. She could not be less relevant. She has NO future in media, visual, written, audio or otherwise.

Okay, you're correct. Sorry, you didn't "tell" anyone what to discuss or not discuss. You merely stated that "maybe everyone should give it a rest". So, I will rephrase my post and say that "I'm also not a big fan of the posts here that SUGGEST what we should and should not discuss." Usually, when I'm not "comfortable" or interested in discussing a certain topic here, I just don't post.
I still think Khate deserves NO pass on anything, given what she has done to her children. And, I really don't think she cares if people scrutinize her teeth. Some day, though, her children will be faced with the horror that the world was able to scrutinize their bathroom issues, potty training, and nudity.
I thought Mady wanted to be a Disney star? Whichever way the wind blows to suit Khate's purpose.
Dee, I'm with you on the teeth thing. I had braces in my late 30s, and Tom Cruise had them on at the same time. It drove my orthodontist and his staff NUTS that Tom Cruise has the same center misalignment - just like Kate's. It would take extensive, years-long orthodontia to fix that, exactly as wayward said. (Don't know how you can surgically shift an upper jaw, as that is the stationary jaw.) In fact, I had a tooth out eventually to bring my protruding upper teeth back because I refused to wear the painful headgear 12 hours a day, and it took a YEAR for that space to close up and the roots to be aligned straight up and down. I spent 3 years in braces. Tom Cruise did not stick with his treatment. After taking the braces off for roles and putting them back on several times, he finally gave up, and his big tooth is right under his nose too. He can't help it, or didn't stick with the treatment TO fix it. It's not a character flaw, it just is.
I think Khate's teeth were put out their by Khate herself.
I remember how conceited Khate appeared when she boasted about having their teeth whitened and she prodded Jon to smile. It was over the top for me.
If someone is going to put their 'teeth' (in this case) out there, veneers, whitening and all, why should they not be subjected to criticisms? They are just another one of Khate's paid for improvements.

We teach our children not call attention to the physical defects of other children, not to bully them about it, but yet there are those on blogs who were totally nasty about her eye.
I made one of the orginal comments about the tooth alignment and I'm sticking with it. I don't know the bitch from adam and look at the nasty cracks she made about Mady's bad teeth when they went to the dentist years ago, and this is her kid who she supposedly loves. And the center crack between the teeth is dead center under the middle of her nose in the pic at the top holding the koala, so she must have had 'something' done (knowing her, probably a crown over the two front teeth big enough to hide them being off center-not possible? whatevah, something was done)

I think it's the angle of the shot. If you enlarge it, and look at it really carefully, her upper jaw still looks like it needs to be moved to the right.

I think you need to take a look at the new photos that came in. Her teeth look the same as they always did. Nothing has changed. I'm not sure, though, why she has dark roots if she visited her best friend, the stylist, when she was in New York. Either her hair grows very fast, or he just didn't do his job!

I so agree w/ this. There's so much to genuinely criticize Kate for, and she deserves every bit of it, but I will NEVER criticize ANYONE for something they can't help--i.e., something they were born with. My brother was born with a cleft palate and had a number of surgeries but it was long before such surgeries were common, and, therefore, it's still quite obvious. I defended him as a little girl against teasing, and it was and remains a sensitive subject to me and not just for that specific issue but for anyone who has any type of physical defect.
I think the sheeple are quiet because they either can't afford or are smart enough not to buy these stupid makeup boxes. But no one has the heart to tell Kate. They want to be able to be in the club with her and tweet away about how fabulous their boxes are. I don't think even Milo has said she would buy one.
