Nine Red Cross celebrities minus Kate
The Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter revealed its Philly Home Fire Campaign's celebrity supporters, but just as they warned, Kate's barefoot, low-cut photo didn't make the cut. The Red Cross asked her two days ago to "choose a different photo." But so far, Kate has not publicly responded to the request or changed her photo on her web site.

Regarding the Red Cross picture. Yes, people are now up in arms because Kate said FU to the Red Cross. She's being hard headed and stubborn. But FIRST people were up in arms because of the picture itself. If she hadn't eventually said FU to the Red Cross, you would still be talking about the picture and how skanky it is. So I agree with Bibby completely on this.

She seems to do it more in television interviews - The Talk, The View, Today, etc., when she is uncomfortable. The couch interviews were done on her own turf. I did notice it on television interviews from several years ago because I remember thinking at the time that you could tell that she's from southeastern PA. It might have been her first appearance on The View.

I don't think people were up in arms from the beginning. A few people said well maybe the picture is insensitive because of the blankets for victims, and the barefoot thing makes her look naked, it's a little much. Typical Kate fare, just typical snark like we always do. It only started to blow up when the Red Cross said it too and Kate wouldn't listen.
It's just another tacky photo of Kate for me. I care more that she won't listen to the Red Cross.

I don't think that the public knows many details of the case yet. It's still under investigation. A cover up would not surprise me, nor would it surprise me that someone hadn't at least suspected and said nothing.

Out and About, I complete agree. In fact, I would go so far as to say I find it incredible to believe that no one, not one single person, suspected something was up about Blankinship. And I demand to know who knew about that, too, if anyone. Hopefully, the police are doing good work on this big bust and we'll find out, and Jon too. And as someone pointed out there already IS what looks like a coverup--with Jon saying he met him, and Kate saying she didn't even know him? Does that really make sense??? ALready, something is up.
Based on my own rather vast experience with this sort of thing, there is almost always, always someone who either knew or suspected. It is VERY rare when the only people who knew are the perp and the victim.
I hate Black Friday! I went once and let me tell you, IT ISN'T WORTH IT! Least not to me. Never felt more clausterphobic in my life! Stepped on, jostled about.
Anyway, I find it a tad bit contradicting on this: Kate said her kids don't know anything about fast food. Yet it's been noted Jon bought burgers on a trip, the kids had pizza and fries and Kate who went to get Chinese food. She just claimed eating out was a "rare," treat at a restaurant. But in my book whether you do it fast food or an actual restaurant...it's still eating out because you don't do dishes.
Just something that has never made any sense to me. Sorry but I felt like asking. Why does she work so hard to sound so dumb?

There are things that we "know" without having "100% documented, notarized sworn statements in front of a judge/jury.
We know kart does nothing involving charity unless it benefits her. It's as evident as the nose on your face. We know it from seeing her shows for the past few years. We know it from her interviews. We know it from her public appearances.
While I think everyone has a right to their opinion, it does seem clear that you are quite unhappy with this site.
We don't need someone to make it their mission to tell us we are wrong about everything. The posters here are thoughtful, articulate and fair. If we criticize something kart does it's because it truly deserves criticism.
In my mind and heart there is almost nothing that woman does right. She is greedy and self-serving, a narcissist to her core. No one is more important to her than herself. She has shown over the years to pathologically lie and dissemble. In short, she has no redeeming qualities. She should be gone from public life completely.

I have never encouraged anybody to stop Kate from a commercial venture. This however is not a commercial venture.
I doubt anyone on this site could take from Katie's children. They live in a million dollar home with a built in pool, attend an expensive private school, have nannies, cooks, landscapers, pool boys (who per Katie, are invited to her bedroom) and have three vehicles. That's just a start. It seems as if all their needs are catered to. Their only issue - per Katie - is when the next plane ride is. How much more do they need?

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- A former Nittany Lion said he hasn't forgotten former coach Jerry Sandusky, even as the former assistant coach stands accused of sexually abusing young boys.
"I told him he's going to need a million dollars to defend himself," the 73-year-old Stellatella said. "He called me back and said, `What am I going to do with this money?' I said, `Use it for your lawyer because you're going to need it."'
Stellatella sent Sandusky $100. He wrote personal letters to other members of the 1959 Liberty Bowl team that defeated a Bear Bryant-coached Alabama team and asked they also donate. He does not know how much money was raised.
"I know some of the guys sent money," he told The Associated Press. "Here's the thing, these are horrendous charges against him. But he's still entitled to his day in court. Oh good god. He will get a public defender if he can't afford a lawyer! He will get the defense he is entitled to under law.

I showed the photo to my 20-something daughter, who is as conservative as the day is long, and wasn't even sure about having me with her in the delivery room. She won't even wear two-piece swimsuits. She looked at it and said, "What's wrong with it...you can see she's wearing a cami or a white tee shirt, nothing is hanging out, her legs aren't even exposed. She's not naked."
Personally, I think it's a bit on the tacky side. Bottom line is that the Red Cross thought it was less than appropriate and asked her to submit another one. Out of respect for them, she should comply.

I agree. She could've been more mature about the photo. It was all self serving and we know she's not charitable unless she gets public recognition for it. But I still think the RC would have accepted the photo and not thought twice about it had nobody complained. They only asked her to submit a new one AFTER they got complaints. A few people here are trying to make it seem RC was the first to step up and ask her to submit a new picture, and THEN because she didn't, that that is the whole reason for the ruckus. The RC was only responding to the complaints and trying to appease people. That's the whole reason for Kate's refusal. She knows the RC asked this of her because the people who hate her had a fit.
I feel a little bad that the RC was put in the middle of sheeple vs naysayers. They are literally having to make both sides happy or will lose out on donations ( although there are TONS more naysayers so they should lean that way, and they did! ). This should serve as a lesson to those who ever want to use Kate for marketing. You will invite a war and will never make both sides happy and will lose revenue from whichever side you tick off the most. Stay away from Kate if you value your business! She's the kiss of death and should be avoided for the same reasons Michael Vick, Jon, Lindsey,etc. are avoided.
I just think it's comical that Kate thinks she's sexy and does crap like this. The first thing I thought when I saw that pic was, "Damn that girl has some HUGE feet!" It WAS tacky, but so was Danny Bonaduce's and there was no bruhaha about that one. That's all I'm getting at.

I agree. However I think if she wants to be successful on blogs however and accomplish real discussion she needs to rework a few things.
I like the overall polite tone of the blog right now. We are talking about some REALLY heated stuff, but for the most part, managing to do it in a way that is working.
Newspapers have known the "above the fold" is where the focus is for, well, forever.
Most ad agencies will have to agree to showing their ad above the fold. They are very strict about it and will cut you off if you don't.
Why Kate is using the above the fold space for way-too-large flash of her family and herself, that doesn't change, is bad blog sense.
You don't want updates to be placed below the fold and have to click them to scrounge around for new posts.
Speaking of which I also noted a small bar on there once that said click here "subscribe" to photo feed. It didn't work at the time. Of course she plans to make money off the site. Why else? Which there's nothing wrong with that. She does have to make a living. Somehow, someway, as long as it's media in the public eye that she hates so much.

I have heard many words used to describe Kate. Generous, kind, compassionate, empathetic-- none of these words seem to make the list. What exactly would make her a good representation of the Red Cross?

I wouldn't be surprised in the end if Kate uses her website to make money off her children. She's been doing it their whole lives. Doubt she would change now. I think it would honestly be morally wrong for people to pay to visit her lame site but that's my opinion.

YES! I can also tell you with 99% certainty that there's been a sheeple invasion going on here for a bit. Many, many of the posts are word for word exactly what certain sheeple are saying on certain blogs. They've been laughing for a while about how they post here to "challenge" us. They think as long as they act all indignant at being called a sheeple, they'll get away with it. They spend a lot more time here playing games than they do on their own blogs. It's their favorite hobby.

Re Penn State: It's pretty simple. If an adult sees a ten year old boy up against a wall with an adult male having anal intercourse with him YOU STOP IT. Go home, tell daddy, and call your boss the next day? No.

This might be a little OT. I have not been following the Penn State news but just by reading the comments here I have to put my two cents in. Anytime a child or any person is being abused it must be reported, you must never walk away from it. I have been reading about a five month old baby who was sexually and phsyically abused by her mother,father,and uncle.
The grandmother and another uncle in the home knew about the abuse and did not report it. The baby girl died. This childs story has broken my heart and I cry everytime I read about it. The grandmother and uncle were sentenced to 3 days in jail for not reporting how disgusting is that. There is now a law in New Mexico that was passed called Brianna's law where if you suspect child abuse you must report it. The child was Brianna Lopez if you want to read her story, it will break your heart in two. Abused must be reported no matter what. I would never turn a blind eye to somebody being abused but unfortunately there are others that do.

ITA. I haven't watched Khate live-in-action for a very long time, but I did watch the WGN interview. She's almost unrecognizable. Her face looked large and bloated, almost manly, and her eyes are a different shape. Her skin is super tight (botox?) and gives her a plastic look. I kept thinking of Lou Ferrigno in his Hulk makeup. It's a shame what this woman has done to herself. She looks gorgeous in the "fork" pic compared to what she is now.
That glum expression she made before she realized she was on camera (posted here in the WGN blog entry) was priceless. Can't she have a little fun with an interview? Smile, laugh, something! She seems to think people will take her seriously and believe her words if she acts serious. I like that she got stumped on a couple questions that were not in her normal set of pre-approved questions. You can't rehearse this crap, Khate. She has no business being on TV - that interview was painful.

Such a sad story. Unfortunately, it is not the same in every state. It must not, legally, be reported no matter what. Morally, it should be. Each state has its own set of laws naming the "mandated" reporter. Those usually include daycare workers, schools, physicians, and so forth. Many states are working to pass laws that require anyone who sees abuse must report it, but so far, those laws have not been passed in every state.

So, how does Kate have such nicely groomed feet if she is a big 18 mile runner? Everyone I know who is a dedicated runner has pretty awful looking feet. They just get beat up. Kate's feet are featured so prominently in the picture and they look pretty perfect, although huge.

Re: the picture. I admit that the photo probably wouldn't have offended me if it were a generic model or likable celeb on the couch. It's that it's Kate, someone who is despicable and uncharitable and supposed to not embarrass her kids. It's like life: if someone you can't stand says or does something slightly off, you will react strongly to it. Someone you like...a completely different and more forgiving response. Funny article. I also had a funny thought about Kate pic at that office, of when she is not there: that the people who work there put sticky note on it with nasty sayings. Can't throw darts cause of the glass.

Okay, so happy hour got started a little early, I see, lol.
I just wanted to give an update to my post last night about that running/blogging mom who offered to send Khate her book yesterday, and the free tee-shirt (size small, barked Khate). Picking up on Khate's grifting, the non-fans had piped into that conversation yesterday. So, as they always do when Queen Khate is criticized, the sheeple took it upon themselves to defend Khate and embrace the running/blogging mom.
The five or six devoted sheeple have rallied around running/blogging mom and told her that they are "nice" and to ignore the "haters". They're now following her and she's thankful for their "support", even calling some of them "sweet" and "friend". She plans on sending her second book to one sheeple/blogging site (Imperfect Harpies) when it comes out in a few months, so they can post a review for her. It's quite funny, since none of them are runners. But, they're thanking her for helping Khate out with advice to prep her for the marathon next month in Las Vegas.
Again, I find it very odd that Khate never runs any smaller races like 5K's and 10K's close to home, and is just plunging right in with a half marathon. She also runs very sporadically, has no training schedule at all, knows nothing about training and fueling for races, and we know how poor her nutrition is. She is not a serious runner at all, but she does everything half-assed and backwards.
In the meantime, the running/blogging mom DM'd Khate's lackey/unpaid personal assistant/sheeple Barb Gilmer for Khate's address. She tweeted today that Khate's package will go out tomorrow, consisting of her first book about running and a $35 tee-shirt (sold on her website), with the logo "BadAss Mother Runner". Hmm, if Jon wore a tee-shirt that said "BadAss Dad", the sheeple would go nuts, especially if it was around the kids. I am far from a prude and I often swear to let off steam (sorry that I reached my worst point with that in a post about Penn State last night), but I would never wear a shirt that said "Bad Ass" anything on it, even if I didn't have kids. But, with little kids around, that really is not appropriate at all. Oh, didn't Khate flip out on one of the Australia episodes last year because the "paps" used foul language around her precious little children? I read the recap and comments, but I forget what they said exactly. In any case, I don't think that's an appropriate shirt to wear around your kids, or at all, really.

I also find it odd that Kate says she is running the full marathon in Las Vegas. She started out saying it would be the half, and now it is the full deal. Why in the world wouldn't she have run a 5K or 10K, something like that, as a practice or use that as a training ground? Who just plunges right into a full marathon for their first race ever?? I would think you'd build up to the marathon. Enter some smaller races to get used to the race environment, etc. I don't think she has a clue what she is getting into.

We are correct in saying that he was sodomizing a child. From the actual Grand Jury report, Warning, graphic: "As the graduate assistant put his sneakers into his locker, he looked into the shower. He saw a naked boy, Victim 2, whose age he estimated to be 10 years old, with his hands up against the wall, being subjected to anal intercourse by a naked Sandusky."
Forgot if it's been mentioned here yet, but McQuarery is now on administrative leave. There are rumors that Penn State is afraid if they fire him he'll sue them under whistleblower laws since he DID report what he saw to admin and nothing was done.

Sandusky wasn't an employee at the university since he "retired" in 1998. Joe Paterno was not over him in any capacity any longer. Sandusky ran the Second Mile Charity and PSU let him use an office. McQueary saw something, reported to his dad, they went to Paterno - Paterno went to the athletic director and to assistant vp -who was the head of the campus police. Joe Paterno didn't give keys to Sandusky, Joe Paterno followed the school's procedures. The Attorney General, a Pitt graduate, stated that Paterno didn't do anything wrong. honestly - no one knows what they would do - I would like to think I would know - I wouldn't be silent but would I approach Sandusky as a 28 year old, I think I would have be petrified of what I saw and probably would go into shock - he ran to his dad, a lawyer -- I say good for him - yes he should've beat the crap out of Sandusky but no one knows what they would do when shocked like that. I think the media has done a huge disservice, this is a grand jury - one sided testimony only without cross examination - yes it looks deplorable for Sandusky - but I want to give Joe Paterno the benefit of the doubt until I see more testimony subject to cross examination. Joe Paterno was not the powers that be over Sandusky for a very long time and he treated what he was told, not what he saw because he didn't see anything per the reporting rules of misconduct at the university.

This I agree with. Which is why I think that universities, or anything like them, should work hard to create a culture where reporting is encouraged and expected and you can do so without fear. Penn State is already working on it. I think we literally have to "train" everyone in new procedures, literally "train" people to turn first to 9-1-1.
I also have no problem with McQueary calling his dad. When you see something that horrific you often want the person you trust the most. Maybe that's your dad, mom, spouse, or a close friend. I'm sad that his own dad though didn't say okay son we're calling the police I'm right here for you it's gonna be okay-- right there and then.
The astoundingly high number of people who either saw something directly or were told something by people who did see, goes way beyond McQueary and Paterno. Way beyond. And includes janitors, supervisors, wrestling coaches, principles, heads of campus police, the president and vice president of the whole shebang, and various other administrators. This is all in the grand jury report, which is rather short if you want to take a look.

That's the part that is scary about this. It's not like only one or two people didn't do the right thing. It was a systematic, repeated failure, again and again at all kinds of levels from the very very top all the way down to a graduate assistant and janitors.
Everyone, at every level, was involved and didn't report it. The sociology of this is fascinating to me.
Yes, Admin, WE were right. Khate chose to submit an inappropriate photo that was rejected. Having been left out of the campaign, she had no choice but to submit another one if she wanted to be included at all. Ha ha, WE forced Khate to do something that she didn't want to do!
