I'll address this to Kate, as I do believe she reads here . . . Kate, gotta admit it . . . good job. Took a lot of determination. I was a skeptic, but hey - you did it.

I'd like to second Katie Cry-Duh said's comment

"Good job Kate's Tag, you worked really hard & even though you didn't finish on time, you tried your best even though the bitch abandoned you just like her 8 kids"

And bonus...alone time with Stevie.

Annie2 said... 7

I am wondering what all the confusion was with the tag. Its a shame we dont have screen shots to show as proof that something is screwy.

have to say im very surprised by the rude attitudes i encountered on the previous thread. "really" and "finishing is winning" - your snark was confusing and not needed. i didn't realize having a thought, question or opinion was so snark worthy. believe it or not people can have opinions on marathons. i can be surprised kate finished. i can wish i had the physical strenght to do it and i can be surprised there is talk of hinky times and question if it is possible. this is an open board to discuss anything.
kate actaully doing something has really brought out some attitude tonight in some of you and im disappointed in how i am spoken to as i have always been extremely respectful of other posters.

what do you think?

First, I want to congratulate the two female runners who worked hard getting Kart or her shoes across the finish line. Second, I hate to admit that I followed her race on that runners site hoping she would drop out, but I did. Third, I also saw some numbers changing with the one female runner, but I thought it was just my eyes or a computer glitch. Fourth, if nothing else, hopefully this accomplishment will give Kart something to talk about other than Jon, custody arrangements, Jon, and nonsense regarding her kids.

Question to experienced marathon runners:
Are those runner time tags physically tamper proof to prevent cheating? Can other runners report to officials if they happen to see another runner cheating of some form like switching tagged running shoes with another etc?

Don't want to jump to conclusions about Kate cheating until I know more about how marathon officials try to prevent cheating.

Thanks Kate for making this marathon about your nonbelievers instead of your eight kids you are trying to inspire with this accomplishment. Good to know you put proving your nonbelievers wrong above your own kids. Disgusting.

Hi All. I've no thoughts on Kate cheating or otherwise. If she did this, I hope that she might turn running into a way to spend time with her kids if they are interested (little athletics etc).

I'm just curious about a marathon run at night. Here in Australia all our marathons start early in the morning (I've crewed for a few and we have drinks stands set up from 4am) with most of the race over by 9am. Are night marathons usual?

Thanks in advance for answers!

Zoe said... 17

Didn't Kate make it seem like she just recently met 2 friends to run with?

Yet Paula, the person she apparently ran with, has a bib number just 2 away from Kate's.

Hmmm

Seems like they somehow signed up together.

Annie2 said... 18

"Are night marathons usual?"

Not usually, the marathon there was in the morning last year. The Vegas strip looks interesting at night. Its lit up and you have all sorts of characters walking around. I think thats why they chose to do a night one this time.

*************************************************

I'm a runner and the race tag numbers you wear are more for photo identification afterwards, but they are also used for catching cheaters. You also wear a chip on your shoe that follows you throughout the course and times your finish. I doubt she cheated. She's been running/training a lot. I also doubt she had a trainer...for two reasons. 1) you can certainly train for a marathon without one (I am currently in the process and don't have one), and 2) Being a narcissist, Kate would never take direction from someone else - regardless if they are an expert in the field (DWTS was a great example of this truth).

While I applaud her effort, I think many will agree that we wish she would put just as much time and energy into working on her persona and spending quality time with her children. But, as I stated earlier, she's a narcissist and that's NEVER going to happen. Kate will always be this way. Narcissists are simply not reformable even with medication or counseling. My mother in law is a narcissist and she's in her 70's. She has never made any effort to change and she lives alone and has no family or friends around her because she's run them all off. Of course, SHE says it's everyone else who is to blame.

Sound familiar?

Third, I also saw some numbers changing with the one female runner, but I thought it was just my eyes or a computer glitch.

------------------

Okay, so that's a third person who saw it before it changed completely. More importantly, all of Ellen's numbers were posted here near the end of the race and then we all saw them change at the tracking site. It makes no sense.

If you just look at what I posted about what Ellen's times originally were, you can see how it all played out. Right up until the last leg before the finish (21.3), she was matching Khate and Paula - except for the half way mark which she reached an hour earlier than they did. For Ellen to suddenly match Khate and Paula exactly at the 19.5 mark, 21.3M, and finish, she would have had to wait for them to catch up after she hit the half hour point (a full hour ahead of them).

In fact, that's exactly what I thought was happening BUT then the race ended, the numbers updated, and all of Ellen's information changed, as you can see in my post above.

In addition to changing her info from a full to a half and deleting the times and miles we all saw, Ellen's second set of numbers is really strange because it says she took over an hour and a half to do her first 5K (so, a 30 minute mile - crawling?). Then, from 5K to 10K, Ellen took less than 39 minutes to do it (a 12.22 minute mile). An hour and a half for the first 5K and then only 39 minutes for the second 5K? But, ah that's interesting, doing the second 5K in that time puts her at 7:42:17 PM, the exact time that she ORIGINALLY hit the 19.5 mile mark, along with Khate and Paula.

I "honestly" don't know how anyone can look at all of that and at the very least, not realize that some huge errors in tracking and reporting the numbers were made. It's all right there.

roadrunner said... 21

The "tracking data" isn't some super secure, super reliable, super accurate data because the website allows runners to submit a Results Correction request:

http://runrocknroll.competitor.com/contact/corrections

Please note: We will accept results correction requests up to three weeks after the day of the event. After that time results are considered final and no changes will be made.

Didn't she leave home a week ago to go to NY and get hairdo and tv interview. Then has been in Vegas for days partying and playing with Steve, ugh, adjusting to the altitude. Maybe Stevie picked her up and carried her for a ways. Sent the kids a cake to cheer her on. How gross. She looks awful in every single picture. I don't see anybody who looks worse than she does. As a herding dog, I could have tangled around her feet and left her face first in the tarmac. Shoka should pee on the puny cake she sent for 8 kids. Dang, little larger than a cupcake, and split 8 ways? And all about her? Of course. I wouldn't have thought of it, but then I'm not her. Thank god.

possible time explanation for Ellen said... 23

The full marathon runners run their 1st half on a different route than the half marathoners. Where their half ends, both groups merge and then run the same route.

It looks like it is possible that Ellen waited for Kate and Paula to catch up when she reached her half marker. It is also then possible that because she had waited, she was then directed to run the half course which was to the right of the full course and her time was then adjusted to reflect the change.

Kate and Paula most likely kept pace with each other, and then later Ellen kept pace with them.
The 10K marker for the half marathon would be almost at the same point as the 19.5 marker for the full.(13.1+6.2=19.3).

The 10M marker for the half would equal the 23.1 marker for the full (19.3+3.8=23.1). At that point, both the half runners and the full runners had 3.1 miles to finish.

So I really think that they just kept pace with each other after the 1st half. Their goal was probably just to finish, and not worry about getting a good time.

Hope this makes sense-I personally don't think any cheating was involved, I think they just decided they wanted to finish together.

So I do have to give kudos to Kate for finishing.

By the way, results are posted for all the runners. It's is interesting to note however, that both Ellen and Paula are also from Beverly Hills.

I need to read comments, but I got far enough on the previous thread to look at the Facebook pages for Ellen and Paula. "Kate Plus Eight" is listed on Ellen's favorites. Then, I went to Paula's, and all of a sudden, it is unavailable. Very, very interesting.

JudyK said... 28

First thing I thought when I saw the pics was, "Why does Kate look SO GLUM after finishing the race?" She should have a big smile on her face.

mama san said... 29

The remark, attributed to Kate, that she took up running to relieve stress over her divorce from Jon. Could she have not said divorce? Kate filed, not Jon. Jon was going to counseling. Kate refused. She finished the marathon? I find it hard to believe. The altitude change didn't affect Kate? etc, etc, etc.

Selfish Kate said... 30

I really don't care about Paula and Ellen. They are another group of "Paid Friends". They got free entries to this marathon/half marathon, and were paid to run with Kate. Steve was also there, so that means for sure they are a couple. She should just come out and tell everyone.
Good for them for roping two seemingly nice people into being Kate's companion, and listening to her whine for miles. Obviously, Steve was not in shape to do this, so he hired a couple of other people.
But most of all, she left her kids to run a marathon in a terrible time. Her job as a mom of 8, is to be there for them, especially tweens, who are going through a tough time just being 11. I do not know any other Mom who would do this.

JudyK said... 31

Hmmm, so Kate's time is IDENTICAL to Paula's; Paula and Ellen are SISTERS; they all registered together; and one of the sisters works at the University where Kate was asked to speak; and now Paula's Facebook information is "unavailable." Something STINKS.

selfish kate said... 32

I am not sure something stinks.... wait until the pictures come out. There are photographers all along every course. Why would Kate make up such a bad time for a marathon? That is the time of someone who has not trained properly, and struggled their way through. Believe me, I have been there! And when I trained properly, I ran under 4 hours.

But all the hype about being scared and having no trainer, I call BS. She would never admit to a trainer, because she wants all that credit. She was 30 minutes off time and to me that is still a strong finish. Have they listed the stats yet to see if they gave her credit for the whole?

Anyone gets credit for running a marathon, BUT Kate made this such a public event. If she kept quiet, or didn't write that stupid shirt, or ran a marathon close to home, it all would be different. BUT, she went out there with paid friends, free entry, and Steve, leaving 8 kids at home..again.

So Kate finished the marathon. I never thought she would start, much less finish, as she has never put much effort into anything she does, but this is an accomplishment for her. The sad thing is, who is she sharing this accomplishment with. She is admittedly not a "party person" because she has no social skills what so ever, so she probably just went straight back to her room and went to bed. Her paid running escorts probably had better things to do, her family doesn't talk to her, she has no friends and her kids are home in bed after eating her "celebration" cake. It is sad. Maybe if she ran her first marathon close to home, at least she could have come home to her kids to congratulate her. But no, this is Kate, and that would probably just be annoying to her. So, party up Kate! You have finally accomplished a goal that you set out to do! Too bad, there is no one to celebrate with, no one to high five, no one to say good job. No one cares, and you are the one who made it that way.

possible time explanation for Ellen said... 25

It does seem like a reasonable explanation to me. Ellen's starting time was changed to the first starting time of the half marathon and adjusted to reflect her actual time for the last 13.1 miles.

I'm not saying that that explanation is a fact-but I don't think it's fair to accuse someone of cheating especially when there could be a perfectly good reason for the running times they had.

Anonymous said... 47

Could it be possible that at the begining of the race one of the faster runners had on Kates shoes and Kate had on one of the faster runners shoes. Kate got a chip attached to the shoe she had on in her name and the faster runner got a chip attached to her shoe in Kates name. Then before the race started they switched back to the shoes that they should have had on in the first place. Now the faster runner has Kates chip attached to her shoe and is recording times in Kates name and Kate is running in her own shoes but is recording (slower) times in the faster runners name. At the midpoint when they all met up, Kate dropped out and the chip on her shoe was attached to one of the other two runners and the two runners finished sans Kate but they carried Kates chip over the finish line so it appeared all three finished together. Confusing, I know, but I don't believe for one second Kate completely this honestly. If she did then why her, out of all the runners has controversy concerning times.

JudyK said... 50

#49...interesting theory. I still think something is amiss...as you said, why is the ONLY controversy surrounding Kate! I would have respected her for finishing and doing it honestly, even if she came in dead last. She really does need to read the story of "The Little Boy Who Cried Wolf"--she's lied so much that now no one (with a minimum 2-digit I.Q.) believes a damned thing she says or anything she says she does, i.e., the HUGE Thanksgiving dinner for 20 people.

Katie Cry-duh said... 51

Another theory: Kate had Ellen's tracker the whole time and vice versa. Kate, as Ellen, hops the sag wagon (or Steve's pink moped) and waits at the halfway point for the sisters. The three then start running together at the halfway point. Notice that from that point on, all three have identical times and all three suddenly slow down to a pace that is consistent with the glacial speed at which Kate 'runs'. I CAN believe Kate ran at the pace recorded for the second half of the race, not the first. This reminds me of the web of lies she spins to try to convince people that she raises her own kids. Maybe Kreider should investigate why she has nonbelievers in the first place. Most people don't.

Anyone who attempts, let alone completes, a marathon deserves a certain amount of respect in my book. It takes guts, determination and stamina. I can't run. I'm a severe asthmatic and start wheezing if I walk too fast, although I try to walk a mile a day. So Kate has my respect for this accomplishment. I still think Kate is a horrible mother, a vile human being, and a terrible role model. Hey Kate -- if you are reading this, and we all know you are -- how about "teaching the kids life lessons" by stopping with the bashing of their father at every possible opportunity. Or don't they need to learn to respect others?

Beth said... 56

I couldn't understand how she would be able to cheat until I read this over at GWOP. Khate most definitely quit early and passed her tag over to her companion. She is not only a liar but a fraud as well.

====================================================

JTN said...
If I understand the system correctly, the timing tag is on the bib(number) initially and then you have to stick it to your shoe. At various points of the race, it should record the pace/time of each individual tag. When her number is recorded into the system, if you are really curious, you should check to see if anyone else records an identical time or within milliseconds of her recorded tag time.
If her tag is X, it will have a totally different time than everyone else because none of us run literally piggyback. In addition, even if you start with someone, the odds are practically impossible you will stay exactly on pace with them for the entire race. If tag X and any other tag(Y) hit almost identical times in more than 1 location on the route it is highly unusual. If tag X and that same tag(Y) hit identical times in 2 or more locations, it is almost certain tag X was passed off to another person to run with 2 tags in the race to make it look like tag X's owner was running but in reality quit.

Regarding the exact times posted, all I know is after the 23.1 checkpoint all three women, Kate, Paula and Ellen, had the exact same time. When the race was finished and times were posted, Kate and Paula's time stayed exacting the same and Ellen's changed.

JudyK said... 59

#58...thanks...methinks the $hit is gonna hit the fan soon.

PaMa said... 60

Regarding the consecutive bib numbers: Is it possible that bib numbers are not assigned until the runners actually check in on race day or the day before? If so, if Kate, Ellen, and Paula travelled to Vegas together and/or met at Vegas and checked in together, they would have consecutive bib numbers. Interesting that Kate's bib number is the first of the 3 ... always the diva.

PJ's momma said... 61

Oh my gosh, people, she did it, OK? I don't like her either and I wish she'd put that much effort into nurturing her 8 children, but she finished the race. Paula and Ellen did nothing wrong here except be associated with Kate. They probably met her when she spoke, told her they are runners too, and her manager (or whoever) got on the horn and registered all three together so Kate would have someone to run with. It looks like one did the half and the other stuck with Kate throughout. Hate Kate all you want, but Ellen and Paula are not novices and they ran the race too. No wonder one of them deactivated their facebook account. The KLovers are probably sending messages and the haterz are probably sending more. For what?

Kate has oodles of time on her hands, so I don't care if she trains. Should she have raced close to home? Of course. Would it have been nice if the kids could be there among all the other excited spectators? Yes. But we know that's not how she rolls. She's a self-centered pig, but she ran the race and finished. Jeez, I almost hope she does something else outrageous and soon so everyone can move on.

LaLaLandNoMore said... 62

Kate finished the race. Still have the same opinion of her as a person. Not good. Does everyone running have their bodyguard with them? Of course not. This has become so lame, Kate. You still need to "clean up" your act.

PJ's momma said... 63

PaMa, no, bib numbers are assigned way before race day. I believe they're assigned as people sign up, but there is a very efficient system for pacing. When people sign up, they state their estimated time and are placed in a starting corral with similarly paced runners. Kate probably signed up for the half, then met these ladies and wanted to switch to the full, so her manager arranged for all three to be registered together. No big deal.

Tam, I’m flattered you even thought of me :) Have been on vacation for the past 10 days and am catching up. I’m not too good at conspiracy theories. My eyes begin to glaze over halfway through the explanations usually. I definitely admire good sleuthing, however, and if something comes of all this, I’ll be the first to offer my congrats and if it’s proven that Kate cheated (which I doubt at this point) I might have some things to say about that!

Cwgirlup75 said... 66

If anyone could figure out a way to cheat, it would be Katie Irene. The odds of three women having the exact same times, down to the second, have to be astronomical. Of course, she puts the least amount of effort possible into everything, so it wouldn't surprise me if she did cheat.

BTW - I sense sheeple around here.

Cali Runner said... 67

Ok, I dont mind questioning Kate's honestly, but all this innacurate commenting regarding how marathons work really bugs me.

1) timing - the timing is done based on a chip worn on your show, if you check the photo of her in front of the x-mas tree before the race she has a red tag on her shoe, that is called a D-Tag look it up if you want details on how it works. I do think the fact this other lady had the same times with only a 1 second difference is really shady. I've run both my marathons with friends and although we stayed together the whole race our chip times were never that close. I dont know what happened there but something is really shady.

2) that Ellen lady - again, very shady with the results changing. that one I truly cannot figure out, the timing mats will pick up any chip that goes over it, the chip is what determines what race is recorded (half vs full), not the mat. So it does look like someone went in a changed her details.

3) Assigning bib #'s. They are not assigned when you pick them up, they are assigned when you register. So it seems they were registered together at the same time. Since they all have the Beverly Hills thing its probably reasonable to think Kate's publicist registered them. Also, there were 44,0000 runners but their bib #'s were 59,615 and higher. Usually these higher numbers are saved for "special" entries because they dont allow changes due to the race being sold out. So they definitely got the VIP treatment. I also think its pretty obvious her two friends got paid to run with her, otherwise they would have registered themselves with their PA addresses. I think its sad that she paid not only Steve but two other people to go with her.

4) Photos: in a couple of days there will photos available. there are professional photographers throughout the course, they dont always get everyone person beacuse there are 44,000 there, but I'm sure there will be a photo or two. You can see the photos to see if she had anyone running next to her.

5) Monitoring cheating - in a race this big is almost impossible for the officials to monitor cheating. Most runners are honest people who train really hard so its not a huge issue. But imagine trying to pick someone out in a crowd that big who switched timing tags?

Anyway, just some info on how all this works.

If she did it for the publicity(which I think she did) no credit, cause it makes runners who run marathons for sport, or personal issues(like surviving cancer etc), like: see anyone with cliff-note knowledge can run a marathon, you only have to train when you feel like it. Makes those people look not important, cause here is has-been reality person Kate Gosselin with no-talent showing them up. The t-shirt tells tale. Personally I think message t-shirts like that should be banned, from marathons. Now if Kate said she did this for personal gain and wisdom, you know like a revalation(trying to change ways),or I know I can do something and do it honestly, just for me, not for publicity, not for the kids or hoping to get a talk show gig and down play her importance(try to be like everyone else), not to show up haters or fans. The word modesty comes to mind. Then I would give her credit. But then Kate thinks she is special, like having purseboy there, nobody is gonna attack you Kate especially the other runners(notice no pics with other runners)they don't care. Kate must be very paranoid, and insecure to have to have purseboy there.
If Kate gets on cover of any runners mag, that would be a slap in the face to runners, who run for the love of the sport. Cause we know Kate is doing it for publicity and chasing fame any way she can, and any excuse to be away from her kids.

I believe it was at her Penn State, Fayette, appearance that Kate first publicly mentioned that she was considering switching from the half marathon to the full marathon.

So how long will it take be for she goes back home to the 8 kids. Who cheered on mummy or does she need another pre-vac rest after the marathon in NYC.?

After reading at Preesi's, two of the checkpoints are off by one second. I would love to see the picture of her and Paula crossing the finish line at the exact same time. Has anyone seen any pictures of her, besides before the race?

A couple of things to add to my post above: read an article comment: from a someone name Marie: 2 thing stick out: If Kate thinks she is a celeb: than she should have ran for a charity, would have been nice publicity and creditable and the second this person posted was: Kate thinks she is doing this for: "all moms" and as Marie said not in my class of working moms(Marie has done lots of marathons and is the mom of 6).

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 74

She did run for charity. "Crones" disease.

It's CROHN'S, Kate, and my best friend from high school has a bag at age 27 because of it.

JTN said... 75

I have no doubt these results are suspicious. Keep in mind you are talking about results that are exact to the second. If you want to try a test, grab a friend and jog down a hallway. Try to keep your results exact within the second for a full 100 feet. Now, try it for over 20 miles. While you may have similar results, it is highly improbable you will have identical results at every checkpoint, every time unless the chips are placed together in the same location.

Cali Runner said... 76

But what did she do for such Charity? Just signing up for an event who supports that Charity? What exactly did she do, just paying for the marathon Out of the registration fee she paid (if she actually paid, probably got it comped) most of the money goes to covering the costs of the race. Did she actually fundraise for the Crohn's foundation?

PatK said... 77

The kids will soon be on winter break for the holidays. Does anyone think Kate will actually stay home with them during that entire time? I don't. And hauling them off to a warm locale for a holiday vacation does't count, since nannies will be taken along.

Kate should be back to tweeting about "exhaustion" as soon as her mommy duties kick in again. It's been her pattern.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 78

Cali, she tweeted her support to all those with bags. I'm sure they appreciated it.

Susantoyota said... 79

If she actually ran for Crohn's Disease, she so could have been the bigger person and wore a simple T-shirt with a web site or some saying about the disease. Wait, we're talking about Katie Irene Kreider here. Never mind.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 80

She was too busy making sure her t-shirt stuck it to her haters to be bothered with wearing a t-shirt that supports those with a serious disease.

By the way, I'm with PJ on this one. She completed the marathon, there is no conspiracy theory.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 81

Also would it kill her to thank her fans for the support? Is she so dead she can't tap out a simple thank you tweet? Her fans were completely there for her throughout this entire thing.

Twitter silence. She's enjoying a wonderful breakfast buffet in Vegas, maybe some gambling and a few shows, lots of time with Stevie and the paid best friends.

Cali Runner said... 82

Kate's marveling at her plate, mesmerized by those carb-ish thingies that she thought verboten until someone told her to eat them if she runs.
This timing controversy is interesting. What's even more interesting is that Kate is total radio silence since the race.
I predict Kate will spend a few more days in Vegas and make it home in time to turn the kids over to Jon.
I just have to add, Kate does such a great job at loving her kids from afar. That cake that she had sent to them is just so over the top self-absorbed. The thing is, Kate thinks that makes her such a wonderful mommy. Wonderful moms are the ones lugging their kids around to baseball, soccer, cub scouts, ballet, gymnastics etc and cheering them on.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 86

Wonderful moms are the ones lugging their kids around to baseball, soccer, cub scouts, ballet, gymnastics etc and cheering them on.

&&&&&&&&

And what's scary is that not only are parents supposed to be raising up good kids who will be good adults someday, but they are also raising up people who might likely be parents someday. What are kids in their shoes learning about parenting? The lugging around to scouts, ballet, gymnastics, etc., teaches kids far more about what it means to be a loving and dedicated parent than some cheap store cake cheering on your parent in whatever their hopes and dreams are at the moment. Someone else said it, she is teaching the kids to be selfish themselves. It's quite possible kids like this will really rebel someday. Their whole lives it's been about someone else, when it finally comes time for it to be about THEM they might just go crazy with selfishness and I would NOT blame them, it would be overdue.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 87

Contrast this with the Mom who has multiple sclerosis on Downsized. A friend wanted her to do a run/walk but it was hard for her to want to do it because she was scared to see other people with the disease and she felt like doing it would mean admitting she has it. But she did it, and it was all about the charity and coming to terms with her own mortality. The event was kind of far away and early in the morning so they decided the kids wouldn't go. But the kids and dad talked and decided to wake up early and go surprise her. They made sweet signs and all met her at the finish line. It was so moving. If I'm not mistaken this was the series finale.

Katie Holmes was accused of the same thing when she ran the NYC marathon in 2007. Her times matched up almost exactly with someone else. It was never proved that she cheated and her time still stands as her having run and having finished.

Has any one considered that they may have paused at each mat to go over it at the same time? It's not like they were running at a high speed.

I say give her credit and be done with it.

How, when, where would the chip have been traded and then traded back. What difference does it make if two people finish at the same time? How does that figure into cheating?

Was she going to write a blog about Las Vegas coupon deals?! Doubt it!!

I feel that the lady is her not-a-trainer (after all she is director of finance and not really a trainer) and that she did not compete but paced herself to be beside her particularly at the major mile marks. KT is good but I don't think she is sharp enough to get past all the parameters in place to prevent such a thing. She most likely has been training for this marathon for a year, with her not a trainer, and ran it every step of the way. Unless of course they both took the sag wagon to the finish line and walked across. Would that still be a finish then calculated later when the final analysis comes out? Who won does anyone know? KT just has a way of stealing everyone's thunder around her, to claim it as her own and is the center of controversy (drama to her) wherever she goes.

Great, she can run 26 miles, but she's still a horrible mother and an awful human being.

No credit here. She will do anything for attention, and anything to get as far from her kids as frequently as possible.

This is just one more way to feed her overweening ego. Really, it is disgusting.

If she wants to run, there is no reason on earth why she can't do it close to home, near her CHILDREN. You know, the ATMs she can't stand to be around.

I do find it odd, however, that these 2 far more experienced marathon runners slowed down and kept running slow along with Kate. Is it the "celeb" factor here? I mean, supposedly, Kate just recently met these new friends (read: people that she wants something from) so what would make them hold her hand the entire race?

Call Me Crazy said... 103

I want to add my voice to those who have already said that there is no conspiracy here, and it would be healthy to move on from looking for it. Given her behavior and attitude, it is easy to understand why some people are so eager to see her fail at everything, and why it is difficult to acknowledge when she does succeed at something. Kate has already failed at the most important responsibility she will ever have in life, and the only hope of correcting that going forward would be for her to have a personality transplant.

I congratulate Kate for her determination to achieve a goal she set for herself (even though it appears on the surface that her motivation was suspect). I think it is admirable when anyone can accomplish a difficult goal.

It is very telling, though, isn't it, that she is able to accomplish a task when it is based solely on individual effort, not teamwork. She didn't have to work or get along with a single other person to do her solitary training runs. She is incapable of working with others.

I applaud Kate's marathon. I could never have done that. Never.

Every parent should have some outside interest that keeps them sane. My mom did civic work and later, she took painting classes and rug hooking classes. After that, she went back to school for her Master's and started working as a librarian.

The thing is, the interest a parent pursues is in addition to the responsibilities at home, not in place of them. Kate seems to have a boatload of interests - being famous, being a diva in NYC, being a runner, being a traveler, etc. She needs to decide what her ONE interest is and do that in a reasonable way that does not interfere with her parenting time. Perhaps she could start the ball rolling with a regular job in the Reading area and go from there. Then, as her children grow up and find their own interests and become more independent, she can spread her wings farther and explore more areas.

Right now, her job is at home and in the regular work force, doing things that give her that personal time, but don't take away those 8 children's time with her.

Still, I am impressed with her marathon. You did it! Yay you! Now, stay home and raise your kids, Kate!

You're missing the point. She does have ONE main interest. It is getting as far away from her children as she can, so that she doesn't have to deal with them and SHE is the focus of attention. That IS the point of all of her activities. One hobby: Kate and her entitlement.

Good for her. No snark. Now she needs to get back to those eight kids she has at home, and stay there at least until the New Year, if she can manage to do that for a few weeks.

Dallas Lady said... 123

I'd have respect for Kate if she cared about running the marathon called raising your kids well. THAT particular endeavor, which is pretty damn important, she's not only failing at, but MIA for.

Sad. But the kids are probably happier when she's not around. I know I sure as hell would be.

I love how she just met her (paid) training buddies a few weeks ago, but now on twitter calls them friends for life. And doesn't actually address the tweet TO them with a @. Same for that other guy she's going to run with in mystery city.

I hope even her sheeple have stopped believing the woman is in dire financial straits. Running marathons and crapping out an eight sentence blog every week or so does NOT pay for eight tuition bills at a private school, or a mortgage payment or car insurance or gas or speeding tickets, home maintenance, the $2000 in groceries she says she buys each month, nails, tanning beds, clothes, shoes, a personal life escort, etc.

I haven't commented much on the marathon thing because I really don't care much about it. She can break her arm patting herself on the back over it, but the real issue for me is how much everything is SOLELY about her and running away from her kids. It's pathetic how desperate she is to get away from eight little people who made her all the money she's enjoying now. Use 'em and lose 'em, that's Kate's way, even if it's her kids.

Doesn't Jon have the kids this weekend? If she plays her cards right, she can stay in LV through Friday "recuperating" with Steve and fly back to an empty house and not have to deal with her former money-makers until Sunday night. I bet she does just that.

Tucker's Mom said... 124

What's chances Kate actually flies out of Vegas today to get back to the kids? Slim to none, I'd guess.
When my husband travels for work, which is only occasional, he will do anything to get home the same day or asap. He have never said "hey! why don't I treat myself to a mini vacation and tool around this city since I'm here!". He also calls to check in a few times a day.
I wonder if Kate's new buddies have little kids at home that they leave for a week so that they can galavant any old place for any old thing.
Again, why isn't Jon taking Kate to task for leaving the kids with baby sitters so damn much? If my ex had primary custody, but left my kids all the time, I'd be in court making some changes.

I took a bullet said... 128

Sorry if someone posted this already. Kate in People Magazine online:

She's used to chasing after her children (and at times being chased by paparazzi) but Kate Gosselin had a different reason to be running down the famous Las Vegas Strip on Sunday: finishing a marathon.

The mother of eight, who bundled up on an unusually chilly night with a top that said "Finishing Is Winning," completed her first marathon in 4 hours, 59 minutes and 21 seconds.

"I'm not one to do anything lightly," Gosselin, 36, told PEOPLE before running the Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon. "I either do it or I kill it. I guess this is considered killing it."

Gosselin, who's been a runner for three years, trained for the marathon on the roads near her Wernersville, Pa., home, often in below-freezing temperatures.

And by finishing 26.2 miles, Gosselin hopes to set an example for her children.

"I'm running this because I want to show that with dedication and determination anything is possible," she said. "I want them to remember this moment when their mom completed a marathon, knowing that nothing in life should stop them from attaining their goals."

The lesson does come at a cost, however: "This will probably be one of the most painful messages I will ever impart to them," she said.

Includes a pic of Kate running during the race.

I'm going to take another break for a while and here's why:

I know kart and purseboy read here. It's clear that they respond via twitter and her actions.

I am pretty sure they have begun to 'play us' as a way to outwit the 'haterz' (oh how I hate that word!).

I imagine they strategize like teenagers about how they will make us look stupid. This race is a good example. It seems that she may have been lying in her twits and blog to make her fans/haters gasp at her poor nutrition, poor training schedule, etc. All the time knowing she'd likely finish and be able to give us the big F-U.

We have no way of knowing if she used a not-a-trainer or if she really did eat the wrong things for the last months. We see ONLY what she puts out there.

For me, her history has carved her in stone:

She LIES about EVERYTHING.

I believe NOTHING she says. Nothing.

She LOVES to manipulate the world around her. I think she has some deep seated mental issues which compel her to be mean, angry and controlling. Sad, but she just cannot help herself and she'll never change.

I have finally concluded that she feeds off of criticism. She loves the 'haterz' because, in her sick mind, they give her relevance and strength.

I am convinced that she actually posts something controversial and waits to see how this blog and others respond. I am convinced that she and purseboy giggle over our posts. She just loves it when we all go back and forth about whether or not she cheated. She loves it! It gives her a tingle that we talk about her.

If any and all media attention about her were to dry up, she'd shrivel up and blow away.

It galls me to my core that I am contributing to her sense of 'see, I did it, bitches'. She is a warped person, a horrid mother and an angry, unhappy woman. The only way she gets pleasure is if she can manipulate people; if she can make herself 'better than them' by criticizing, demeaning, yelling and hitting them.

This blog is the best. We serve a very good purpose here, but me personally, I just need to get away for a while. Each of us has our limits. Many of us come and go here as our limits for kartshit are reached. When I begin to feel the kart poison build up I have to step back to protect myself. Too much of her toxicity is damaging.

I fear that her use of her critics is going to get more pronounced as she has nothing else to use to achieve relevance. kart and purseboy decided if they couldn't make us go away, they could USE us to generate buzz. Somehow she'll figure out how to convert buzz into fame and fortune.

Luckily, Jon will keep her from using the kids on film again. She'll have to figure some way to make it on her own.

For now, I'm comfortable with the idea the kids at least aren't being exploited like they were when she made them film. I comfort myself thinking they might have compassionate teachers, social workers, not-a-nannies, and their father to give them the love she can't. They have safe havens at school and their dad's. For now, that will have to do.

I'll check back in next month. I've enjoyed chatting and thanks to Admin for such a good blog. I've taken breaks before and come back refreshed. When my kart detox is complete I'll see you.

Great job, Kate. I applaud you for sticking with it and completing a marathon. While it doesn't make you a hero or worthy of sainthood, it does say something about your tenacity nad hard work, and nobody can convince me otherwise.
=============================================

No, it doesn't. She's still the same lazy bitch who spent years barking orders to Jon from her white plastic chair and whining to anyone who would listen about how she did it all.

So she found a way to run a marathon. Whooptie do for her. Lots of other people do it without constantly talking about how wonderful they are. She ran this marathon to get attention - period. If no one was watching, her ass would be parked on her leather couch twittering.

And no, I am not jealous. I would not want her life for anything. I am, however, a hater. I hate the fact that she has 8 beautiful, healthy children that she does everything she can to get away from. I have one child - a teenage boy, the light of my life. I spend every day watching him fight physical and mental problems. So yeah, I hate the unfairness of the fact that she was dealt such a wonderful hand in life and DOESN'T EVEN CARE.

I'm not a runner. I don't understand timing, cheating, chips or anything else. There's too much math involved for my liking LOL. However, even if 2 experienced runners stayed with Kate for the entire race and kept to her pace, wouldn't they have to match, stride for stride, to have the EXACT same time, every time, down to the 10ths of a second? I've been in a number of stage musicals, and although all the dance routines were dumbed down for this klutz, it is extremely difficult to choreograph movements to match, especially when you take differences in height, leg length, and stride into consideration. The end result may look easy, but it requires hours and hours of practice to get there.

I notice that Kate's tweet above just has to mention Paula and Ellen's age -- "14 years my seniors". Real classy, Kate.

I am an avid reader of this blog, but rarely post, but please don’t consider Kate completing a marathon as “heroic”. Heroes don’t need to tweet about their accomplishments or have them posted in gossip magazines. You want a hero? My co-worker. He and his Father began running marathons together 5 years ago. Their goal was to run a marathon in every state. Sadly, my co-workers father is in a nursing home facing the end of his life due to the effects of stroke and diabetes. My co-worker has taken it upon himself to try and make sure he completes the marathons before his Father dies.

A selfless and loving individual paying tribute to his father versus selfish and seeking fame for no reason– who is the better person?

Katie Holmes's marathon controversy was never settled, Tom's church sued for that publication to remove the article accusing of cheating and the publication won. Holmes did herself no favors by not wearing the "correct sports bra" and was photographed wearing heels later that night. Doesn't matter, the marathon did nothing to help her career or help Cruise' repuation. And Holmes has not ran another one since.

This Paula person intrigues me now, if she works as Director or finance for that satellite branch of PSU, isn't there an ethics issue here? She probably got Kate the paid speaking engagement at the school back in October. Kate got Paula & her sister "special running entries" to participate in this run? And Kate has been silent about these 2 even before the race, now she mentions them in her tweets, nobody else but the haters bought up those 2.

So, Kate probably finished a marathon - good for her. She is still a witch, horrible mother and all about herself all the time.

In contrast to me, me, me, me, me, me, me... here is someone I have much respect for. This is someone whose priorities are straight. She has helped many, many people help their children to communicate, blogs, runs marathons, climbs and is her younger daughter's legs. She has two children with needs and boy did she and her husband ever make a fullfilling life for them all. She is the real deal.

I read the comments on the Rock N Roll FB page and that marathon was a disaster. Most say they felt cheated and ripped off and won't be back, these are serious runners who care about controls, organization, fairness and genuine race finish times. No wonder Kate had a blast, she could walk/jog and barely break a sweat and still come in with a decent time.

I have to post. I was there to watch my niece and her hubby run that marathon. She and he did not stay at the Mandalay Hotel, as Kate,Steve & her two running buddies(#s awfully close, no changing tags, huh?) My niece and hubby had no access to all the Swag Rooms from Zappo and other companies. Niece and hubby not provided with gym shoes, clothes, etc. BUT my niece and hubby had their family to root them on, not paid help.

To be honest, I could not see Kate as she was hid between those 2 elderly ladies, so I do not know if she was in the race, honest injun on that. I did see the boyfriend who is very stern looking, not good looking at all.

Hats off to my niece and her hubby and they would never call themselves Heroes as they do what they love and by the way, did Katie wear a diaper like a lot of runners do when getting the runs? It happens you know, can't get too close to those runners.

"And by finishing 26.2 miles, Gosselin hopes to set an example for her children."

"I'm running this because I want to show that with dedication and determination anything is possible," she said. "I want them to remember this moment when their mom completed a marathon, knowing that nothing in life should stop them from attaining their goals."

#############################

It's a damn shame she couldn't care less about setting an example for how to be a caring, loving person who doesn't yell, hit and throw temper tantrums when she doesn't get her way.

SHE is the one who set the example for her kids to hit, bully and call each other names. SHE is the one who is setting the bad example of fighting with their father and making it known to them she hates him. SHE is setting the example of it's better to get than to give. SHE is setting the example that you must be skinny and you should be consumed with your looks. SHE set the example that family is expendable and easily tossed to the curb if they don't agree with her.

I would never dare try to convince people that they can do anything just because I was able to run a marathon. Is she saying that because she ran a marathon, it trumps everything else hard in life? That's such bull$shit.

Let's see how much tenacity and determination she has when she has to sit with her child ( in a hospital in a different city ) getting chemo for brain cancer and she hasn't had a shower in 2 weeks let alone a mani/pedi. How much perserverance would she have when she has to have her sleep interrupted every 30 minutes to hold a puking child's head?

How dedicated would she be when she is out of money, bill collectors beating her door down ( because of medical bills ), and then she gets diagnosed with breast cancer?

This has all happened to a close friend of mine.

Kate would absolutely crumble and be destroyed in 5 minutes of living this life. That determination and tenacity would fly right out the window.

Running marathons is NOT setting the bar for handling the difficult things in life. It's simply a hobby.

So, does she REALLY think that her kids will always remember mommy leaving them at home to go run a marathon? My guess is they don't really give a rat's a$$ she ran 2 miles let alone 26, but have to pretend to be happy for her so as to not poke the bear or deal with her wrath.

Just when you are dumbstruck by the amount of "Me me me" that oozes from her, there comes even more "me me me" and you better be happy for "me me me".

She is NEVER EVER this giddy and excited when it comes to her kids. Why can't her fans see that?

Enough griping about Kate. I'm off to go clean poop out of 39 animal cages at the no-kill shelter. Not paid one red cent and no cameras or magazine articles to pat me on the back.

There were and always are First Class People in the Entertainment Field. They are quiet, do not respond to criticism, do not set up web sites and take sides on whom they like and whom they hate. They just go about their business, working their "gig" and take care of their families. You would never know how conservative their lifestyles are. Meryl Streep is a good example of that type of person.

But here we have a woman who is a "wanna be" and there is nothing she will not do, include destroying family life for her children, to be in the limelight.

She is on the list of "wanna be" people who may make their millions but will never have RESPECT from the public nor taken seriously and I also have the Kardashian Family on that list that Kate is on.

Go home and you and Steve work up another scandal to make money and appear in print or on TV; but, know that those reading, interviewing, etc., are laughing at you, your boyfriend, your plastic surgery and your very strange looking face that seems to get stranger looking with more work you have done.

Sounds like Aunt Cathy was "joking" about the "elderly" since she is probably that age with a niece and nephew running in that Vegas race.

But Kate does say her 14 yr older running mates were older and has to mention the age.

The scores and the changes are very questionable. The people who bet on anything in Vegas did not even have Kate down to win or finish anything I understand from my gamble loving husband.

So if those 2 women did what I think they did, then all this means is Kate cheated, yes she did and so did those women.'

What I want to know is why in the world couldn't you just run the half marathon, finish the race and call yourself a winner without having 2 other people change their own running time and scores?

See Kate, you are a LIAR and a CHEAT. I'll be those 2 sisters were just happy to get the first class air fare, the rooms on another floor than you and Steve had (oh yes, that is true) and get some of the swagger you picked up, plus maybe a mani pedi before being shipped back to PA in coach.

But you Kate stayed and celebrated. And if you wore heels the next day, you lie, you lie, lie, lie.

They said afterward, after gasping and just walking out their legs (if you really jog, you just don't stop) but they also had asked around about a Kate Gosselin, no one knew who she was. Just an added post since I dislike what she did to get through her mileage. Sad, sad woman. If you aren't satisfied at 36 what you look like, you will not make 50, no way.

The kids already have anger issues and they behave very poorly around other kids. I was appalled when I watched the RV episode when Clay got handled in the RV. First, Cara gets angry at Clay just because he's sitting there. I mean, the kid was doing nothing wrong. Then the boy tup he's sitting on the bench with decides to shove him off the seat with his feet. Clay winds up standing in the aisle and is in Cara's way. Cara shoved him aside BY HIS HEAD and stomps off.
If I were Jamie, I'd have been in that girl's face and would not let up until she apologized to my son. And there's Kate, defending the awful behavior.

At least she's getting a salary for being a nurse...

Great post Kmart Smart.
I completely agree.

kHate is so full of crap, she says anything she wants and in her mind its some Jedi mind trick where she waves her hands and we all are supposed to believe what she says.

So kHate the Motivator, did all this for HER KIDS. She left them home for 4+ days and traveled 3000+ miles to be pampered with her boyfriendguard and ran a marathon in Sin City, at night, all in an effort to motivate her kids.

And to make sure they remembered it was all about HER, she gave them a kHake. Praising herself.

Dammit, I never knew I was doing it all wrong. I thought allowing my kids to play team sports, get along with kids they dont know, work to get better and earn a starting spot was a good lesson in working hard to get what you want. Practicing with friends after school to improve your skills and confidence.

When I sit in bed with my kids and answer the days questions, talk about life, and read together each night I figured i was bonding with them, encouraging them, and sharing our lives.

Doing weekly chores to earn a couple bucks, so after a few weeks they might earn enough to get new wheels for a skateboard, or walk to the ice cream store with friends.

I need to re-evaluate everything now. Thanks kHate. I'm looking for Vegas flights now.

I think that's my biggest pet peeve - her illogical logic.

I think if she wants to run marathons, that's great. She should go for it. If she wants to run them in other cities, that's her business as well.

But don't make the statement that you can't do a "mediocre" job like nursing because you'd never see your kids. How much have you seen your kids this fall? Since K+8 went off the air?

And don't make statements that money is tight, you're scared because you don't know how you're going to support 8 kids and then continue to live your life as if you had not a money care in the world with trips to Australia, etc. Don't expect me to believe that you found an online coupon at Coupon Cabin to cover your and Steve's airfare, hotel, food costs, transportation costs, and other sundry travel expenses. Don't expect me to feel empathy for the financial struggles you claim to have when you admit to the world you're shopping at Pottery Barn for Christmas gifts. The Coupon Cabin code wasn't that good a deal.

Kate, just admit that you are continuing to try and keep your name relevant in hopes of landing a more profitable television job and that involves spending money. Admit that you are going to maintain your standard of living as long as possible because you enjoy it and don't want to go back to a mediocre three or four bedroom house on some suburban street corner and don't want to put your kids in public school and don't want to have to buy your clothes from WalMart and Target again.

Admit that you are not anyone that I, or any other middle class mom of 4+ kids could relate to. Own it. Don't keep trying to brand yourself because you don't have any brand that you particularly fit in right now. If you're going for fitness guru, go back and get some training so you at least can dispense somewhat good advice, not just sound bytes you picked up from Jillian Michaels, The Atkins diet, etc.

Don't be a phony. We're not stupid. We see who you really are. Too bad you can't seem to accept who you really are.

Westcoaster said... 171

OK, you ran and finished a marathon, good for you. But oh the drama, and the usual complete lack of class. And for someone who was still bemoaning her lack of income, you still seem to have a whole lot of $$$$ to be spent on your travel hobbies for you and your paid companion.

Perhaps since you read here, you now know the jig is up as to your new bff's, you know those older ladies who were paid to pace you in this charade. Perhaps, too, you only met them a few weeks ago, but who do you think you are fooling with their sequential number tags, and the fact you were all registered out of your publicist's office in CA? Oh and speaking of that, who pretends that they entered a marathon when it's a publicist who set this thing up? More drama.

When the desert smoke clears, we have this ill-tempered, shallow, vapid poor excuse for a mother who had to pay expenses for 3 unnecessary people, and fly across the country, to achieve her so-called life's desire.

Madrid 2012? What size entourage will she need for that? I am not the only one here who need a K8 break. Any bets on when she finally goes home?

Comments on this marathon seem to be overwhelmingly negative. I thought this one was interesting, since it addresses the question (which was raised here before the race) of whether people who got picked up by the "sag" wagons and dropped further ahead on the course were credited with "completion" (this is from the RNR LV Facebook page, I have left the poster's name off):

"I completely agree with the disorganization, as they let out the marathoners it was very unclear as to what corral they were letting out. To add to these comments, I was also very discouraged to see the shuttles on course moving people up on the race so they would make the 4:30 cut off time as well as a number of people cutting the course just to make the cut off time - with this, it is my opinion that finishing the this race and receiving their finishers medal means absolutely nothing. When you could have ran maybe 30km and finished with a 42.2k Marathon Medal!"

The reality is that we will never know with any certainty just how Kate ran her race. But given her past behavior, I don't think a degree of skepticism is unwarranted. Especially not when she's reporting she's back in her heels today.

Permanent Name, I agree with every word you wrote. May I also add that I have become increasingly uncomfortable about the level of snark merely for snark's sake on the blog. I have no problem with people calling Kate out on her poor parenting, very inappropriate use of the children's hard-earned money and constant parental alienation, but the question raised earlier about what the children will feel when they someday read here raised some flags for me. I think the older girls have already accessed the world of K8 snark. I think it's no accident that Cara's demeanor changed dramatically shortly after she was given a laptop computer. Kate can bleat 'til the sheep come home that her kids do not have access to the internet, but anyone with a child over the age of 3 knows that's hooey, and also knows the first thing a kid does when she gets connected is google herself. I cringe to think of what those kids have read. So for those reasons and the fact that I'm going to be very busy enjoying my own family during the holidays, I'll join you on your va-K8-ion.

No, I think they do care. They learned long ago to be parents to their mother. It's rather sad.

OK, Kate, you did it - presumably. Now GO HOME and play with your kids!!!

This whole discussion is not only confusing, it's depressing. I'm really glad for the mention of the Hoyts on the last post (or two). MUCH nicer to think about.

I'm pretty sure the 8 think of the nannies more of a mother than their own bio mom. The nannies are all ways there Kate isn't.

The kids cried more when Ashely left during the RV epi then when their mummy left during her night out epi.

From Kate's Tweet - "And special thx 2 two amazing women 14 years my seniors, friends4life, Paula& Ellen.W/o you 2, I never could hav run every step&finished.. about 5 hours ago"

****
Kate, why does it matter that they are 14 years your senior? What does that have to do with thanking them for helping to pace you through the marathon? What does that have to do with them being amazing? It's amazing that a 50 year old woman can be in such great shape, as if that's a miracle or something?

Just curious. It seemed a rather odd comment to make.

Really? Did she really tweet this? amazing women, friends4life...never could have run without the two of you, but by the way: YOU'RE OLDER THAN MEEEEE!!! Nanny Nanny boo boo. Who does this. Who would even think to mention the age of the people who helped you through the race. It has no relevance. She is such a pathetic fool.

Two things. Kate leaves them all the time. Ashley was a steady constant in their lives. Second, my guess is that Kate couldn't give a rat's ass if her kids cry for her not to leave. Ashley showed a great deal of compassion for the kids' pain when she left. I'm betting Kate gets pissed when she has to deal with upset and crying kids.

I have often wondered if something in Kate's brain just doesn't function the way that it should. This is not snark. Whether her brain just doesn't compute, or her cognitive thinking is off, or she has some kind of learning disability, something just isn't right. Most people, before they speak or write, can think ahead...what should I say, what shouldn't I say, how can I say that tactfully, and what would the consequences be if I said something that perhaps shouldn't be said?

Kate can't do that. She can't err on the side of caution. She blurts out whatever she feels like saying or writing at any given moment. We've all witnessed it, especially in her tweets. We've heard it in her television interviews. There's something just not right in the way her brain processes information. Her ability to perceive, analyze, and then verbally communicate seems not to be on track with what is considered normal brain functioning.

Of course, I'm not always "all there" either!

Not for nothin (as we say in NJ) but it sounds to me like "Oh yes she does" is back at 146...honest injun on that!

What the hell is up with her tweeting "14 years my seniors"? Well Kate it just goes to show that they're BETTER THAN YOU. They were able to run the race at 50 years old and keep your sorry a$$ on track. Friends for life or until you don't need them (or pay them) any more.

If Kate really did run the race I want to congratulate her on that. It's not something that I could or would want to do. I've never gotten the whole running thing! If she did cheat it will eventually come out.

Sorry for posting a second time, but the clickable link didn't show up well.

After seeing mention of the Hoyts, I wanted to share a genuinely inspirational mother - Rachel Coleman with lots of support from her husband.

Because their first daughter was born deaf, she created a wonderful library of signing videos that have helped countless parents and children communicate. Their second daughter has CP. Rachel and her husband run, climb and are very active WITH their kids. She often pushes or carries the youngest, now 9, in these marathons and hiking adventures. They are doing so much to help others and living a full life without being pretentious and not all about me, me, me.

We found out about her and her organization when we needed to learn sign language for our son. Anyway, the "I do it all for my kids" crap Kate spouts is all BS. If you'd like to see a family with challenges do it all for the kids - for the family - check out www.rachelcoleman.com

=======================

There is. She's HFA - High Functioning Autistic. I've been convinced for a long time. She's ALSO a narcissist, but it's the autism that makes her so socially incapable. She CAN'T bond with other people because her brain is literally missing the parts that would let her do that.

That doesn't excuse her behavior. HFAs can learn to be polite, considerate, and socially appropriate, at least to some extent, if they want to, although there's no denying that it's hard for them. She doesn't care, though, so it doesn't really matter what is wrong with her.

Rules don't apply to her. The rest of the world is wrong and she is right. Other people don't matter to her. She can't interpret social cues. She doesn't understand when her behavior is inappropriate. She rejects input from others. Cannot function socially. Has huge difficulties cooperating with others. Obsessive behavior. Narrow interests. Problems with executive functioning (staying focused, managing multiple tasks). Inflexible. World falls apart when things don't go the way she expects them to. Meltdowns when doesn't get what she expects. She's impetuous with little ability to govern her responses. Can't handle unexpected deviations from routine.

All symptoms of HFA. Travel is like self-med because it helps to isolate her from people and everyday expectations she can't handle.

I notice that Kate's tweet above just has to mention Paula and Ellen's age -- "14 years my seniors". Real classy, Kate.

This is why she has no friends. She doesn't understand civility or reciprocity.

Ding Ding Ding Ding!!!

I've always thought she was socially inept and VERY introverted but trying to come off as extroverted. Her social skills are extrememly awkward and....juvenile? It's as if she still has the mind of a 7th grader. You can always see just how awkward she really is when she first meets someone. Very standoffish and almost painful. Her meeting Sarah Palin for the first time was very telling ( the awkwardness ).

There is clearly something very off about the way she processes. I think it's part of the reason for all the "ummmmms". Her brain is too slow to catch up with her mouth.

Announcing that her two new "friends for life" are 14 years older was just uncalled for and rude.

Hey, NLAN, where are you? You mentioned something yesterday about her Twittering being off in some way? What did you mean?

Now that you mention it, interesting hypothesis! I happen to know an HFA, and there are a lot of similarities with Kate's personality. Could this be some sort of Asperger's? Is there a difference between Asperger's and HFA? Just curious.

==================

Same thing, except that in the next diagnostic manual, the "Asperger's" designation is expected to be dropped.

When autism was first defined, it was believed to be tied to what was then called "retardation". "Asperger's" became the designation for those on the spectrum at the higher-functioning end, with normal or higher than normal intelligence.

As more and more is learned about the physical and biochemical deficits associated with autism, the diagnosis is being re-defined along a rather broad spectrum, rather than into two categories of "autism" and "Asperger's".
