Donny Osmond: 'It would have been nice to have a simple life'

Donny and Marie are doing their own celebrity cruise next month, which made us wonder how, 40 years later, they feel about their childhoods in the spotlight

And it turns out, there are some disturbing similarities to the Gosselin kids.

Children made to work when sick.

The Gosselin kids had to work when they had double ear infections and were severely constipated. Donny had to work when he had appendicitis. Although he was experiencing severe symptoms, 15-year-old

Donny put on his show before being rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.

"It was only years later that I thought: 'I'd had a major operation, I almost lost my life," Donny said.

Losing their money.

When asked about his family spending his money he earned as a kid, Donny said, "I have never asked for the details. What was I going to do about it?"

Osmond's father and brother Alan are reportedly plagued with guilt over misguided investments that nearly bankrupted the family.

"Choosing" to be famous.

"I think I was coerced into the business, the Osmond Business," Donny said. "I look at the alternative - a very simple life. It would have been nice to have a simple life." You mean, Donny wishes his life were more mediocre?

Donny once wrote to his mother begging to let him come home. His parents said no. "I was nine years old and on a six-week tour of Sweden with my father, playing three shows a day."

"I've been in it all my life and I don't really know anything else. I've never really known it any other way and maybe that's an advantage. Maybe it's a disadvantage," Marie said.

As for the Donny and Marie cruise, it's nice to know there are celebrities out there who are honest about what you are getting for your money. Their cruise is also jam-packed full of events, and sails next month during a Hurricane-free time.

Only 10 cabins left and here's Kate who can't even find 7 to go on a cruise with her. Hehe. Kinda says it all, doesn't it KATE?

They are including at least 17 events on a 4 day cruse. They even have family events like the pool side movie. A better value then the Kate Cruse. The prices are also far more reasonable. They know their audience and were able to proved them with many options. The least expensive tickets cost under $1000. They are also upfront about the fact that there will be at least an extra $200 in fees, taxes and gratuities. The site also explains that drinks and shore excursions are not included in the package.

I think that Alice Travel needs to take a look at this cruse website and modify the Kate Cruse site. Most sheeple will be in for a surprise at the end of the cruse if the site is not updated.

marie said... 5

I didn't see anywhere on the D&M cruise this clause and the D&M cruise seems to offer more and cost less. NO CONTEST here! Note: In the event that Kate Gosselin is unable to travel and/or attend scheduled functions for reasons beyond the control of Alice Travel, Alice Travel will not be liable, and no refunds for such inability to travel or attend functions and events will be owed by Alice Travel. Applicable cancellation penalties will apply.

______

Mummies are dead, not sleeping. While the adjective "sleeping" does not especially make sense when used with "mummies", it is not redundant.

The more appropriate reason to bash Kate for this statement is that the reason they are so tired is because they have such a long bus ride, like Admin said.

Kate, your children are not babies. They have not been babies for a few years. They are also not preschoolers. They are CHILDREN! They can read, write, talk, tell time and do basic math. Grow up and allow your children to grow up too.

While it's tempting, trying to compare the fan base that the Osmonds have to KG is like comlaring apples and zucchini; they have decades of stardom, and oh, real talent, behind them. That said, their cruise option is so much more appealing, from the scaled down length (and thus costs), to the incredibly informative and vastly more professional travel web site.

Does K8 really get a free cruise even if it does not get the numbers to make the K8 part a go? If so, bring it on hurricane season.

As for her poor kids in the dark, cold morning, Admin is so right - it is all your fault biotch, you're sending them on long bus rides 2X/day, you chose to buy that house, it's all on you, about you, you, you, you.

So true! I really wonder when the hell she will allow the tups to dress themselves. It is an unbelievable act of control to make them wear matching outfits. I'd even go so far to call it abusive. Yeah, I went there ;-)
The Osmonds have turned out pretty darn good for what they went through as kids. They were ATMs before there was ATMs.
It could have turned out really badly for any one of them, but D&M seem to be real. And, they're both quite talented.

I call my children my "babies", even though the youngest is older than the Gosselin sextuplets. So do many people; it is a figure of speech not to be taken literally.

Kate does some things with her kids (i.e. the high chairs, bibs) that she doesn't need to be doing past a certain age. But the children can sit in regular chairs, and sitting in high chairs or wearing bibs isn't going to slow their development at all. So who cares? She is also not the first person to dress their multiples alike, and there are plenty of people who choose their 7-year-olds clothes. Would I do it? No, because it would cause more work to make sure they always matched. But if she likes it, who cares?

Many parents do things for their children long past the age that they are technically able to do it themselves. Is the kid going to move out of the house and be unable to eat without a bib, sit without a high chair, or pick out their own clothes? Absolutely not. So who cares? If Kate is doing these things because they are the few things in her life that she CAN control, who cares?

AuntieAnn said... 14

Susan said...

I think wearing bibs at their age is going to do a major mindfuck to them...along with everything else she's done/doing to them.

Who cares? We do.

Kate is too pig-headed and self-centered to even consider that her kids may want a simple life. Also, it doesn't fit with Kate's plans for Kate. She is more than willing to sacrifice her children's very happiness and well-being, all in the name of providing for them. Did it ever cross her mind that they hate the show, the lack of privacy, may e even the travel?

(Q)So what made you decide to try a marathon?
(Kate) I signed up for the half-marathon. That was my motto forever. My goal was to run half this year, full next year. I just changed it a few weeks ago. One day I was like, I totally won't feel like I completed it. I can't describe it. I wasn't doing the whole thing, and I wouldn't feel good about it. I didn't want to leave there wondering if I could have done the whole thing. It's so funny, because a friend of mine said, "I really think you can do the whole thing." I was like, "Be quiet, I'm not doing the whole thing. You're scaring me, I'm not doing it." She's like, "I'm serious. You can do the whole thing." I literally yelled at her for telling me that. I talked to another friend, and she said, "I totally agree with her." I was literally panicking. Then I hung up the phone and was like, they both think I can do it. And also those thoughts in the back of my head, You won't have completed the whole thing. Then I was like, "Okay, I'll do the whole thing." I was in Australia, and the fear gripped me. I was wondering, "What have I done?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Its not about HER - if SHE likes something. The kids are not garden gnomes that you can paint alike and set out for the world to see. The kids - all of them - are at the stage when their classmates can start to bully them, especially for what the "mother" has allowed to be shown to millions of strangers on tv. High chairs for 6 year olds? Really? Bibs? Matching outfits at this point? She is setting them up for being targets of some nasty comments, and she doesn't care one bit. She thinks its cute to call them "preschoolers" and tweet about inane comments that never happened - hairplane, etc... She has planted the seed....
But hey, as long as she's happy, right?
Maybe a team of psychiatrists could take a stab at it.
She's probably saying she got herself in too deep and if she fails at completing the marathon she can blame her friends for talking her into it, not herself. As usual.
She contracdicts herself elsewhere in the article:
It annoys me when people text me. If they text me, I'll text, "Can't text now. Running."
So you can run and text?
Yes. People are impressed.
What people? The ones you're texting while running when you just said you can't text and run? Those ones?
Runners World Article:
I love this line in the article:
"I can remember that first day in June, the kids were out of school, I got up at 7 a.m. I was like, "Okay, I'm running outside."
Yep, that sounds like Kate. The first day they are out of school, she goes off on her morning run. I believe the only reason she started running was to get away from her kids. She has more than enough time in a day to run, but she even admits she runs at 7pm when it is warmer. The height of evening activity when she should be home with her kids.
Does anyone beleive she runs 10 miles every other day, but can't remember how long it takes her to do it.
And another thing. If she doesn't want people to text her during her runs, why doesn't she just IGNORE them instead of texting them back. She is such a fool.
I am sure there will be some comments after this article. Shame on Runners World for featuring this liar in an article.
Not for a second. When you run, you wear a watch and time every damn run.
When asked if she cross-trained, she responded by saying she stretches. Uh, not the same at all.
If you mean "they didn't turn out to be serial killers" I agree. But Marie has had several nervous breakdowns, many failed marriages, terrible problems with body image issues, and lost a child to suicide. I don't call that turning out "pretty darn good".
Both D&M paid huge prices for being the family ATMs. The only "good" that came of it is the result of their talent, which has at least allowed them to earn a living as adults.
The story is unlikely to be any better for the "mediocre" Gosselin children who seem average at best, and are living with a parent whose full-time job is grifting. And who continually slams their fully-employed "mediocre" father. The Gosselin story is likely end even more poorly than D & M's. They aren't even famous for "talent", they were just sold as a commodity by their parents.
The RW article was a joke. She claims the paps follow her on her runs. She claims she is often "surrounded" by her fans while she runs, even though she runs on random, remote country roads. Right.
And then the texting while running--so not safe. And the running on remote roads by herself--also not safe.
She claims everyone running the marathon was laughing at some comments she made about finishing the race--like she is just so funny and is with the "in" crowd.
She claims she doesn't know her times while she runs. Right.
She claims she has always been fit and has always worked out---during nursing school and college. She NEVER went to college.
She mentions baking over 400 cookies or something crazy. She just has to top everyone, doesn't she? True or not. So many lies.
She claims Rod Dixon is now fixated on training her and she will be come his personal muse. Hilarious.
How can anyone be so self absorbed and think that they are endlessly fascinating is beyond me.
She has convinced herself of her wonderfulness and if she had a shred of intelligence, she'd take the time to learn something from someone. Her training schedule is stupid. Her idea of healthy eating has caused more heart attacks (low fat is not healthy) than you could shake a stick at, yet Kate considers herself an expert on both.
I am a runner and even if you are heavy into training, you don't run 10 miles every other day. That's a lot of high mileage running with not enough rest in between.
Also, my stepdaughter has 3 young boys AND a husband and she can barely get in all the running she would like each week. I can't believe someone who has 8 kids and NO husband has this kind of time to run 10 miles every other day. Granted, Kate's kids are at school everyday and she doesn't work, so it's POSSIBLE she could have the time while they are gone during the day, but as everyone knows, Kate is a compulsive liar so I would take this information and consider the source. Given who it is, I would say it's simply not true.
Tucker's Mom said... 42
I also call BS on running 10 miles every other day. Kate would have a plethora of overuse injuries and she claims to never had one. Not a one. Any runner knows that you will hurt yourself. It's not if, but when.
Dallas Lady said... 55
Kat, I wanted to address that. Kate seems fixated on denying that either of her two girls are on Twitter, but aren't they 11? Going on 12? These days, that's more than old enough to figure out how to open a Twitter account and start tweeting. All you need is an email address and those are easy enough to get. This woman needs to get her head out of her ass and realize her kids are getting older and she is NOT going to be able to control their every thought, emotion, and action like she has tried to do their entire lives.
************
Secondly, about her tweet this morning about her sad little children eating breakfast in the dark. I know what that was about. She's always bitching about snow and winter and darkness and how AWFUL it is to live there and how she "SO WISHES" (I CANNOT STAND THE HABIT OF PUTTING SO IN FRONT OF EVERYTHING) she could live somewhere warmer, etc.
THAT is what that is about. She figures she might get someone to bite and send her and her POOR CHILDREN somewhere warm. OR preferably, just her.
*********
Speaking of Twitter, I have a theory about the haters and fans who tweet in her feed (while adding her name to their tweet, in other words):
she hates it when they are arguing about stuff that has nothing to do with her (as any narcissist would), but she LOVES the attention of it all (again, as any narcissist would).
And I do believe she has all "haters" blocked, but she doesn't enjoy the criticism popping up in her feed when her fans add the text to their tweets, etc.
As for the crazies on both sides, even if she shut down her Twitter, they'd still fight. They'd just tweet at each other. It'd be harder to find it all in one place, but I'm convinced it would go on. I follow quite a few celebrities on Twitter and NONE have this kind of Who Is The Bigger Asshole Extravaganza going on in their feed like Kate does. She seems to attract such things. Shrug.
************
I'm not convinced that Rod Dixon guy is following up with Kate. When that article was done for Runner's World, it was right after the marathon, but we've hardly heard a peep from Kate about it since, except her vain attempts to kiss his wife's ass (Roma Downey) about her toddler DVDs. If Kate were doing a marathon in Madrid in March (or was it May?) we'd be hearing ALLLLLL about it.
***********
Also, that article? All it does is verify what a fake and a sham Kate Gosselin is. I'm only an amateur runner and I spotted half a dozen inconsistencies in what she said. She doesn't run marathons. She doesn't run 10 miles every other day.
And I kept wondering when she runs when the kids are at home, who is with them? Plenty of time on Twitter, she's made it clear she's home with the kids, then comes back from a 1 hour 20 minute run and everyone's thinking "uh, who was with the kids?"
I guess M and C have to babysit. She's damn lucky nothing bad has happened.
I love that the Runner's World article has only 1 comment and it's negative! Ha. Let's keep it that way. That's how unimportant she is.
What is that corny joke people used to say? She's a legend in her own mind.
JudyK said... 56
Cara even tweeted a picture 8 days ago of M & C on their way to see a movie and it is a cell phone pic of the two of them I've never seen before and would have no reason to ever see (because, again, it's a cell phone camera picture).
I knew the whole time Kate was blathering on about how her kids aren't allowed to do this, aren't allowed to do that that the older girls WERE probably already doing those things without her knowing it.
Hey Kate, I have a nearly 18 year old, trust me: they're on the internet.
And you got them MacBooks for Christmas? But you think they aren't all over the internet?
Sheesh.
I think the sheeple include Kate so they can show Kate how they are defending her-you know, how they are her biggest fan and see how they take one for the team. That Msgoody whatever her twitter name saying she didnt intentionally mean for Kate to the hater tweets was BS. What a liar she is, and she says she's catholic. She has confessing to.
If that is Cara's real twitter, she is also answering questions on formspring (I have no idea what this is, but it looks like a friendly Q&A site for twitterers) and this question are as follows (I am posting since the site was public and Cara said she willingly answers all questions freely) --
"if you were to choose..would you still like to continue the show or not?
I would have to say to not continue the show because it's been on for so long and sometimes the cameras do get annoying.Now it's just a show about what we do in our lives, not about how extraordinary our family is. I hope that answered your question :) <3"
_________________________
So there you have it, she would NOT continue the show.
Dallas Lady said... 59
Of course, she also spells Maddy with two ds and isn't it just one? In other tweets, she spells it with one d.
Either way, if it's your kid on twitter, you should know about it and if it's not, that's creepy. That twitter feed is VERY detailed and does sound like an 11 year old until you go back a couple of years on it (that's how long that twitter account has been around) and at that point, it doesn't sound like a 9 year old, more like an adult.
So who knows? But this is what happens when you make your kids public entities, Kate.
What do you look like when you run hard? Do you turn red?
No, I'm not a red person. When I look in the mirror when I get back, I'm pale, I think actually. I don't think I look good. Everybody has their standard things they wear. My hair has to be a certain way. I tie it up in a really tight knot, because I can't stand when I run and it bounces. I can't feel my hair or that sends me over the edge. I have a certain headband. I've tried a million kinds—it has to be one that stays exactly where I put it. I don't want to be messing with that stuff. It's rubberized, one-inch—I think it's Goody. It has that rubber stuff on it. It's the best...I have sweatshirts that the little zipper thing bounces. I hate hearing that. Is that crazy? Or is that normal?
Formspring is BAD. My dd had a Formspring in Middle School and I convinced her to delete it. People can make anonymous comments to your account and it actually became a game with kids at her school to see who could be the coolest with insulting posts. She never got any but some people were just spammed by people calling them names, etc. It's a bullying zone.
There are quite a few Cara Gosselin twitter feeds. The one from Berks county doesn't read like a 11 year old's Twitter account. The further back you go, the less it sounds like a kid. There's also a claim that there was an iPod giveway from "Cara Gosselin", which seems pretty suspect, too.
Add to the things Kate can't control: the use of her children's names and images on the internet.
Didn't know where else to post this, but here is her Runner's World "article."
http://www.runnersworld.com/article/1,7120,s6-243-544--14205-0,00.html
********
Copied and pasted from that article. Can somebody unravel it?
(Q)So what made you decide to try a marathon?
(Kate) I signed up for the half-marathon. That was my motto forever. My goal was to run half this year, full next year. I just changed it a few weeks ago. One day I was like, I totally won't feel like I completed it. I can't describe it. I wasn't doing the whole thing, and I wouldn't feel good about it. I didn't want to leave there wondering if I could have done the whole thing. It's so funny, because a friend of mine said, "I really think you can do the whole thing." I was like, "Be quiet, I'm not doing the whole thing. You're scaring me, I'm not doing it." She's like, "I'm serious. You can do the whole thing." I literally yelled at her for telling me that. I talked to another friend, and she said, "I totally agree with her." I was literally panicking. Then I hung up the phone and was like, they both think I can do it. And also those thoughts in the back of my head, You won't have completed the whole thing. Then I was like, "Okay, I'll do the whole thing." I was in Australia, and the fear gripped me. I was wondering, "What have I done?"
============
And I'm like, "Wow, Kate, like, totally sounds like she's fourteen!"
Not gonna read the article, but not surprising she is quoted using "like" every other word. Very annoying. Such teenager talk.
I, too, would be surprised at the amount of running she claims. But then, she does have help so maybe that's all she does other than twittering. I think this whole running thing is a gimmick to get attention when she could just exercise at home or at a gym PRIVATELY. To me, running on her country road is extremely dangerous. Any locals seen her running often or at all?
Kate - When we were stationed at the Presidio (SF) we used to see Robin Williams out an about in the area running, etc. This was at the height of his fame. No fans or paps were ever circling him. You must be so proud to be more in demand than Robin Williams.
********
Laurie, I wrote in the last thread about meeting Robin Williams when he was checking out a historic theater in my hometown. This was right around the "Mork and Mindy" time frame, so he was a HUGE star. But from what I saw, not at all full of himself. No bodyguards, no "Look at me, I'm Robin Williams". Just a normal guy, and interested enough in the town to check out a local landmark.
That RW article was hysterical--she was trying sooo hard to make a point about what a huge star she is--encircled by fans taking pictures, hounded by paps, just had to bring up her trip to Australia, etc, etc. She really wants to convince everyone that she's still a "somebody". Problem is, her only talent was having a set of sextuplets. She sold their early years to TLC, and now they're getting older and not so cute, and her plan of having them support her no longer works. Now SHE has to support THEM, and she doesn't like it one bit.
That article just makes her look like an illiterate moron, and I hope she reads it and just cringes at what she said. "Gift of gab", my a**.
About the Runners World article. They probably sent her a list of questions and asked her to seumit a picture with her response. I doubt that anyone from the magazine came to her house to conduct the interview.Also, she said her driveway is about 1/4 of a mile and she ran it 36 times. Isn't that about 9 miles? Long time for those children to be standing there hi-fiving her after each lap.
I'm not convinced those twitters for the twins and Cara's Formspring are real. Idk why, just some of the answers ,like they rarely see Ashley or Jamie now, and that she loves all her brothers & sisters dearly- just don't sound like a kid or what they tweet about ...also most of thepics are from Kate's...she also said they Skype. How could all this happen without Kate's knowledge ( or admitting it?) Maybe I'm wrong though...and I agree Formspring is asking for bullying/teasing.
Pity Party said... 75
I for one don't believe for a minute that she ran the 26.2. She may have ran half of it. How would the girls that she just met know if she could run the whole thing? They are the ones who told her to bring her lipstick for the finish line. Don't sound like hardcore runners to me. We will see how quickly that fades when she finds out she can stay skinny, just by keeping her head in the loo.
And she was so scared and so panicked and then she aced it? She doesn't ace anything! Nada, zilch, nil.
The Osmonds have real talent. Andy Williams gave them their biggest break. Just finished reading Andy's autobiography, "Moon River" and he knew those kids had talent and had a great work ethic. Andy and his brothers were driven to success by their father as were the Osmonds. Kate does not have that kind of work ethic and her kids do not have that kind of special talent and she is not giving them any kind of lessons that would take them anywhere in the entertainment business. Kate is delusional about herself and her kids. Cute toddlers they were, but a future in entertainment would take a true miracle. I'm just not seeing it.
Celebrity lightening struck once in Kate's life. She scored a win without following the conventional "hard work/waiting" rules. She did not have the intelligence to recognize the lottery win aspect of her fame. She did not have the discipline to plan ways to extend her "success". Rather, she sabotaged herself by allowing her ego to make decisions not in her (or the children's) best interests.
I am surprised how long her exposure has lasted. But she is no more famous than the Teen Moms or a Bachelor Contestant. They all have a bit of time in the notoriety sunshine but it is fleeting and salacious at best.
"I have four chest freezers to store my large bulk purchases of meat and grocery items. I freeze anything from cheese to milk and everything in between! When it’s on sale, I stock up and my freezers are ready to store it."
How does having FOUR (not one but FOUR) chest freezers filled with food anything like the average American family.
And she says she only shops every 4 -6 weeks for groceries with a few 'fresh produce pickups in between'.
Good Lord she is not relatable to the regular public.
Marie said... 108
She freezes milk? Really? Most large families I know buy milk and, oh, I don't know...actually drink the stuff! Daily! I know can you imagine that?
I've never had the need to freeze milk so...does that ruin it at all? I mean milk isn't exactly like ice cream or yogurt.
Eh, well, the fridge I inherited living my apartment freezes milk on occasion because it's old but other than that am I the only one to find saying such a thing is a bit weird? Cheese, heck, I freeze cheese when it's on sale but then again I'm the one with the budget.
Tucker's Mom said... 110
Once again, Kate's advice for saving money is so basic. Coupons. Check. Stocking up on sale items. Check. Using your freezer. Duh.
I'm a bit shocked that Kate thinks that NOT going to the store for fresh food is a badge of honor. The amount of canned goods she uses is astounding.
She can find the time to tan a couple times a week and spend money on that, but fresh produce. Nah.
Once a Viewer said... 111
Eh, she doesn't think, she just babbles. Her go to meals look like what she ate as a child, maybe even what her grandmother cooked, tarted up with a newish ingredient here, an 'organic' there. 4 chest freezers? Oh sure, that makes you relatable esoecially since they were either grifted or bought by TLC. The bulk shopping/freezing idea made sense when the children were younger, when she was more housebound. But with her long childfree days, and no real working hours, it is ridiculous to think she needs to freeze milk!
It is also laughable that she buys the older ones the phones and computers yet thinks they are locked away from social media. Don't they have her Twattering away 24/7 as an example to follow? Twitidiot.
Even as an adult parents can still be intrusive.
Day will come when her kids are going to need some and will be able to get it via friends whether she likes it or not. I mean, aside from all her lies, what is she afraid of the kids will find out via internet? Other than her lies, I don't see it as a problem. Because frankly, kids that age don't focus much on their parents and wouldn't tweet about them. They tweet about things that are on their mind like other celebs, friends, movies, music, etc. It is a VERY good impression.
If I didn't have time to garden or go to the FM, I could also sign up for a box of in season fruits & vegetables from my local CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) for about $24 a week. Oh, and did I mention it's organic?
Hmmm, just remembered...my grandma raised 8 kids in Minnesota on produce from their farm and garden with only a refrigerator and freezer combo - she didn't have a chest freezer until the 70's. How ever did she do that? Oh, right - she canned her garden fresh, organic veggies and fruits so they could enjoy their farm fresh bounty throughout the year. She'd store them
in the cellar, which was naturally cool. In fact, those are some of my fondest memories of grandma.
But I'm not being fair. After all, I know Kate did her own jam or jelly or something this past fall. How much did she can again? I forgot. We usually did enough to feed 3 families for the year ( we'd can with my aunts who would bring their produce). There is nothing like homemade pickles, I must say. Yum, Yum.
Jim Carrey's daughter is on American Idol apparently. I don't watch it but saw the article on CNN. And guess what she said about Jim? That her childhood was NORMAL because he wasn't an extravagant celebrity. She seems just lovely. Kate, please take note. This young woman is explaining how Jim Carrey did a good job raising her because he wasn't EXTRAVAGANT. Because in hindsight, kids realize they don't want or need all the stuff you think your kids want and need.
That contest for the ipod a while back is questionable though. This could be Cara's way of getting some attention aside from her mother.
Yes. Which is why I say so often Kate is 12. It's not meant to insult 12 year olds...it's just how they ARE. Self-centered. Juvenile. They're figuring life out and behaving this way is how they do it.
Problem is, that's how 12 years olds are supposed to be. Not 36 year olds!
This is the one I think we are all talking about ! I personally am not convinced, but maybe...you can also see her Formspring link on it- she does mention Kate- says she wouldn't let her have a horse- and the dogs & chickens they had to get rid of. If it is fake, it is someone who follows the Gosselins very closely, which is scary so I hope it is real. I also hope if it's real she does not get a penalty of severeness if K reads this !
I was going to mention the cost of running four freezers vs her savings in food, but math is not my strong suit. Really, isn't four overkill? Wouldn't 2 freezers be enough?
Ok, on that twitter account I see that it goes back and forth between being tweeted from the web and from an iphone. If you go to the formspring, she says she has an android phone. So either her phone is blocked like her mother claims, and she a)sneakily uses her moms phone (I can't imagine Kate not having her phone for 1 second) or b) she is using a friend's iphone or c) it is all fake. All speculation of course, I just went about it as if it were my teen- how would she be doing this. Ok, night all.
One last one- just saw this- on that twitter account- C tweets something like 'black friday- so happy to go shopping!' hm.....
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 137
I am seriously so impressed with this Twitter account. Normally I don't care so much about the impersonators but this one is good.
Kids DO use each other's phones, plus she has a laptop, Jon or Kate mentioned that. We still haven't identified the car photo of Mady and Cara, where did that one come from? Cara sounds like the bright, but normal young girl that she is. Her comments about the show are mature and without an agenda. She is appropriately excited about movies, etc., appropriately not interested in other things like her mom and dad.
As for the energy fridge's use, I found this at consumerenergycenter.org:
Refrigerators and freezers consume about a sixth of all electricity in a typical American home - using more electricity than any other single household appliance.
Anonymous No. 71 said... 138
But at one point Mady's name is spelled Maddy. that confuses me about the account.
She gives Mady's twitter account.
Jane said... 139
Regarding Cara's possible Twitter account - wasn't it mentioned upthread that the birthday she has on her profile is incorrect?
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 140
Yes but it could just be a typo. Or really, kids will misspell names sometimes even of other kids they know well. I've seen Katie for Catie, and one time a kid had no idea how to spell his older sister's name, which was Debra. He thought it might be Deborah. Also, kids go through phases where they try out spelling things differently. Like if they have a name with a Y at the end, like Terry, they might try it as Terri.
I don't know, kids these days are so of more out of touch with stuff like that.
I have no idea, I just think for the few little things that seem "off" there are perfectly reasonable explanations. As much as an impersonator could make a mistake in spelling a name, so could a sister.
Marie said... 141
fidosmommy said... 142
Mady and Cara seem to be smart young ladies to me. So, couldn't they set up a Twitter account, put in just enough stuff to make it work for them, but put in just enough wrong to fake their mother out?
If you have an over-controlling parent, it becomes a survival technique to learn how to skirt all that control without getting into trouble. You just hide the evidence so there's not really enough to preponder.
I have just one question. If my kids reallydidn't want me to know they had twitter accounts, they'd pick screen names other than their own names and they'd change their settings so people could not find them by their email address.
Also, I would think they'd want to have private twitters so the screen name would be ones only their friends would know.
I've looked it over and I really don't think it's her or Mady. I think the pics are all ones that are easily found on the internet or screen captured off a dvd, even the one taken in the car with the cell phone camera.
I took a brief look at the twitter account. First of all, the language is too sophisticated, sentence structure too mature, spelling/grammar too correct.
What's interesting that is if it is Cara, she was wrong about the first day of school. On August 25, she said it was four days until school started. On August 29, she said it was the first day of school. However, this past fall, school started on August 25.
She also says, last June, that she's going into sixth grade. Cara is in fifth grade. She's still in lower school.
I'll take a look at it when I get a chance and see what other discrepancies I see.
She has nine people living there, so she has nearly a half a chest freezer PER person?
Either she's lying or that's total overkill. God, I'd hate to see her energy bills. Whew!
Okay, I didn't know Boxing Day was recognized on the east coast, being a west coast kid born and bred.
I'm following her on Twitter and if you go to her profile page, you can click on "Recent Images" and see all the pics that have been posted.
Here's the formspring link, for those who are interested: http://www.formspring.me/CaraGosselin
Again, I really think this is a hoax. As I said, if I were Cara, who has always seemed to shy away from the spotlight, I wouldn't make a public Twitter account. I would pick a complete different screen name and only make it known to my friends. And given how computer illiterate Kate is, she'd never know.
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 157
See, the thing is if it were "perfect" I would be more suspicious. Kids type fast and are careless and get confused. Sixth grade vs. grade 6 is a little odd. Still up in the air on this. Kids an be confused about when school starts and stops, what day it is, what date it is. Kids can exaggerate what grade they are in, etc. The mature thing, well, Cara is mature. That doesn't throw me off at all. I know kids who can absolutely type as maturely as she does. She may speak properly but her interests are definitely still those of an 11 year old.
She has a pic of L.A. when she was there for DWTS that has a ton of snow on it--there was indeed a lot of snow when Kate was on DWTS. It wasn't just a stock photo pulled of LA--that really was LA at that specific time. Also, the location in the photo is just about right for DWTS- Hollywood. That's where that photo is taken from, I can tell from the angle.
http://twitpic.com/oi8sg
Here's a pic of her "friend's" dog, but you can see her pink uggs in it which they always wear.
http://twitpic.com/1bbof0
Also, this kid has been on Twitter over THREE YEARS. That is a hell of a long time to keep up a fake account. Most people who get off on fake accounts can't keep it up that long without some kind of payout---like attention. This one has fallen far below the radar somehow, and yet she's still kept it up. Someone should ask Kate if that's not her, then who else has access to those three personal photos she posted??? I'm concerned about their access to some of these photos....I've been involved with this saga so long I feel like I should recognize some of these if they've been out there. I don't.
Anyway, this is one of the best "fake" accounts I've seen, if it is fake. I mean this is impressive. Right down to a pic with little pink uggs poking out. Judging by the size of the feet, a kid took that picture. So, we're supposed to believe another kid set up a fake account this good?
What about this one? How did a faker get a photo that was clearly taken by Cara--you can see how her arms are holding the cell phone up to take the photo. It's recent because Mady doesn't have braces.
I'm more concerned, if it is fake, how they would get their hands on such an intimate, recent photo. What is the theory? It's not a screen cap. It's clearly a cell phone photo Cara took herself. So how did a faker in Canada get it?
I haven't looked at the photos yet.
Thanks for the clarification! That's what I thought and it made me suspicious about this twitter account.
Additionally, "her" tweets go back to at least Oct. 2009, when Cara was in third grade. The tweets then sound way different from the tweets now, as if an adult wrote them then and is now sounding more like a tween would write them.
The point for me is that Kate is oh sooo very sure her kids don't do twitter or anything like that. But this account looks pretty darn REAL. It's just her hypocrisy again, her total lack of awareness about her own kids. I'm curious if it's real, if it is, fine, carry on. It's also nice to see this kid getting a voice and this kid getting and opportunity to say how SHE feels about filming (she doesn't want to anymore). Other than that, I think it's great but I don't care beyond that.
So an adult found a child with pink ugg boots just like Cara's, posed her in front of a dog, and had her take a pic with her cell phone? An adult also found another kid, put green All Stars sneakers on her, and had her take a pic? (With feet exactly the size an 11 year olds would be) It could be, and it kind of scares me if that's the case.
As someone else said I kind of hope this is Cara, because if it's anyone else it's crazy the lengths they've gone to to fake this.
I wanted to see what the online school calendar had listed for the first day of school, so I pulled it up. Here's what I think happened. Somebody searched for the calender and saw, on August 29, First Day of ASP, and figured that was the first day of school, not knowing that ASP stands for After School Program. School actually started on August 25, but ASP didn't start until August 29. "Cara" tweeted that the first day of school was August 29.
The photos are a concern.
If someone is doing this and Kate doesn't know, then maybe she SHOULD know what some creep is doing in the name of her child. I'd want to know. One of my friends is a celebrity, a major one. His child had a facebook account, and had the privilege taken away for misbehaving. The child set up another online networking account where questions are asked, and the owner of the account answers them. Some of them were pretty darn suggestive...nothing that a kid should be answering, but the child was doing just that behind the parents' backs. The dilemma was - should I tell the child's mother, in which case the child would get grounded for life, or should I just mind my own business? If it were me, I'd certainly want to know what my child was up to on the internet, especially if I had specifically told the child NOT to be involved in any online account, and then the child disobeyed me.
Kate should know.
I agree. The writing is too precise to be a Twitter account written by an actual 11 year old. It's far better written, more cogent, and clearer than anything Kate has ever put on Twitter, for example.
Someone is playing a little game, and it's a rather creepy one, but it was going to happen, sooner or later.
Perhaps someone should email Kate or her people, and then we should simply start ignoring this. How did we even get started with the whole "Cara Gosselin has a twitter account?" After all, it looks like this has been going on for a while. Why now is it just coming up? Was this a plant? To get people talking?
Just wondering.
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 185
Sillimom, how does that prove that photo isn't from going to Twilight? Um, kids don't wear the same clothes??? If anything kids often get attached to one or two outfits and wear them over and over. So they are wearing the same clothes--I would hope kids wear the same outfit more than once.
The pic is very blurry, and it was clearly taken by Cara herself (her arm is outstretched in the same way you hold a cell phone to take a pic of yourself). Why would TLC put a blurry cell phone pic on their web site? I have never seen TLC use anything but professional pics on the Gosselin site. Nothing amateur like this.
I don't want to belabor this topic, but I agree with Sweet Charity, Kate needs to be concerned about this. This is not a fly by night faker account.. This is truly calculated. LancNative, I definitely have seen Boxing day sales at JCPenney in PA. I ALWAYS shop on the 26th, it's a Christmas tradition for me. Sincei t's just a one day thing on a day a lot of people are not necessarily shopping, I can see how many people would miss it.
Thanks PA Parent. All it does for me, knowing that, is raise even more alarms about the creep factor. I don't know what else to say. If their own mother will not face the fact that people like this are so interested in her pre-teen daughter to go to this much effort, then what can we do except feel outraged? She is responsible for putting them into the public arena, and even as we speak probably trying to find ways to keep them there. There is not one thing any of us can do about it. Her cavalier attitude and lack of concern is shocking but not unexpected. We can pick it apart and talk till we're blue in the face, it will change nothing for those kids. She is their primary parent and any consequences, God forbid, will be on her head.
Sweet Charity I think it's very sweet of you (like your name) to be concerned for your celebrity friend's child. I have been in your shoes with celeb kids on the internet and I didn't care if they hated me, I made sure their parents knew exactly what they were up to. One of the classic ways some fans try to get closer to their celeb is to try to find some in with the kids. Young kids may be excited to get a bunch of contact with fans and can be easily taken in. Celeb's kids used to get lavish gifts all the time, obviously it was a ploy to weasel their way in good with the celeb.
A lot of celebrity kids, once they realize their parent is famous and has a bunch of fans out there--will, for kicks and giggles, see if they can get the fans to interact with them. I watched this happen too. The novelty wore off quickly, thankfully.
The internet is a dangerous place, but I think it's even worse for famous kids or kids of the famous. Sad but true. Kate should know, absolutely. We should be concerned, absolutely. It is not "stalking" to be concerned.
Administrator, I hope that I have not offended you regarding boxing day. I was born and grew up in Manhattan and Long Island and have never heard of boxing day.
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 191
CS god no I'm not offended! The area I lived in was heavily, heavily Western European immigrant roots. Perhaps it's only certain areas Boxing day sales pop up, depending on the traditions, origins etc. For instance it's possible that one town in PA would always have Boxing day sales, while another close by town never would.
Anyway, doesn't prove or disprove Cara's account.
OT, but fun, nevertheless. "Oh, yes, she did!" has a brother with a long career in the FBI. She's been posting up a storm (probably between a myriad of jobs!)...
If Kate didn't care about a pedophile editor, why would she be concerned about an adult posing as her child? Geez.
Of course, what just occurred to me is that we have now given this person exactly what they want - attention and lots of it.
&&&
Like I said, still up in the air. But I'm not sure I buy this. We're to believe this person plugged away for THREE YEARS at this twitter account hoping for attention and stuck it out THIS LONG? Most people just out for attention would give up on this after a few months when they only got a few dozen followers. This is one of the most persistent "fake" accounts I've seen--highly unusual.
It might be something other than just seeking attention. It could be someone who is so enamored with these girls that they actually get a thrill out of assuming the personality. There have been quite a few shrines built to them. Remember the fan who wanted Alexis for her own, and tweeted the most bizarre things to Kate? She even had Alexis as her avatar.
Good point. I wish Kate thought of this before she sold the kids.
If those pictures of Cara are truly taken by her, as you think they have been Admin, I'd ask respectfully that you remove the links to them here.
It may be a public twitter but she's only a child. Give her SOME form of privacy! If someone close to her 'stole' them and posted them on a fake twitter, all the more reason to protect Cara and take those pic links down.
Admin, I agree that this is something that both Jon and Kate should look into. Hopefully, someone who reads here or is on Jon's twitter list will reach out to him and share what's going on. If Steve or Kate do indeed read here, then I hope you are checking the girls' phones to see if the pic in question is indeed from Cara's phone and, if indeed this account is fake, how that picture was obtained. Did you or Cara share it with someone and it got passed around?
Question - Does anyone know if it's possible to alter the time stamps on Twitter feeds, either legitimately or not?
Admin, a leak in the house also occurred to me, or perhaps an employee who was let go. Heck, it could be anyone. But whoever set up an account messed up on the first day of school, and didn't check to see what grade Cara would be entering. Those are two major mistakes.
I just checked formspring, and there are errors there as well. Some I won't correct, because to correct them would be revealing things at school, but she does say again she's in middle school and winter break started on December 23. It did not. Many schools do break at that time, but winter vacation at school began on December 19 (actually December 16 at 3 p.m.).
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 199
Claire, it's not like they are revealing pics. Some are just of a dog and of shoes. I'm torn on this. Isn't ignoring them and trying not to talk about this much worse than actually facing this terrible problem head on?
Kate, I know you read here. Your kids have lots of stalkers. You can report this to Twitter. Get off your butt and do it. And also, think about the serious consequences of what you've done to your children, and think about why you want this show back so bad.
Many of Kate's fans are nutjobs - stalkers. Can you imagine if any of those would "befriend" Cara or Mady, ask questions on formspring, under the guise of being an adult (or even a child) who wants to be a friend? Kids are vulnerable. We know that it's the obsessive fans who are dangerous. This could get out of control, especially if that fan found out he/she was duped and it isn't really Cara (or Mady).
