The new season of 19 Kids and Counting promises to deliver lots of highs: tree planting, baby names, corn maize, music. And some incredible lows--the miscarriage of the Duggar's twentieth child.
Last night's season premiere featured Ma and Pa Duggar worried when the doctor couldn't find their baby's heartbeat. False alarm--she finally found it. But the doomed pregnancy, according to previews, will be chronicled in its entirety, including the moment when they find out the horrible news, followed by the baby's funeral. American's latest most exploited family has lost all sense of decency and boundaries. Wrote entertainment writer and recapper Richard Lawson, "We like to be horrified by 19 Kids and Counting, but not like that." Lawson went on to write:
"The producers presumably had discussions about how to best handle this situation, and it seems they've chosen the most sensationalistic way rather than the most sensitive. The cruelty alone of the show title ending with '...and Counting' is enough to make you cringe. But to then stage a nervous yet ultimately happy doctor's visit at the end of the first episode, as if the season is looking toward new promise, when of course it's not, feels a bit beyond the pale. It feels like they're trying to trick viewers who aren't aware of what happened, hook 'em in with hope and them slam 'em down with a twist at the end."
In other news, Michelle Duggar told Today this morning, "We would be open to more if God saw fit to bless us with more."

Who can you trust? The pediatrician in Delaware who was charged with 33 felony counts of first- and second-degree rape (including an infant), sexual exploitation of a child by photo or film, and endangering the welfare of a child? He was a mandated reporter.
#############
The Delaware ped (pediatrician and pedophile) sexually abused babies and toddlers, who were perfect victims.
No way would my non-verbal child ever be left alone with a professional. In fact, we were NEVER in a situation where the PROFESSIONAL ever thought that was acceptable, either.
When your children are older, your best defense is a strong relationship with each child, in which each one trusts you, and feels that they can tell you anything.
A child's discomfort with any authority figure should be respected, and investigated, and gut feelings, parental or those of the children, should be respected, too.
Yes, children should be allowed to be as independent as possible. Attentive, hands-on, parenting is the best way to make that happen. You let them fly, and you are there to catch them if they run into trouble. But they have to fly to become strong and healthy people.
Sadly, in the case of the Gosselin children, it is their mother who is the abuser, and it is impossible to imagine her ever paying the slightest attention to her own children's concerns or fears. In their case, the dentist is NOT the first one on the list of those to worry about.
Realitytvkids.com (Administrator) said... 184
CHeck please how do you figure? What does the fact that they were being filmed years ago have to do with a tweet advertising the kids are going there NOW?
It's outrageous not because I give two shits about the dentist, but rather it advertises where the KIDS ARE.
It puts them at risk, period. Some perv can hang out at that office the next several days until they showed up. Someone could call up pretending to be Kate and get information. Like asking for an appointment reminder. How many times have I called a place like that asking or my appointment time. They just want my name. It's as easy as that.
WIth just one episode showing them going there there's no way anyone would assume they still go there or when they will go there.
-------------------------------
Advertises where the kids are WHEN? It's not like she's tweeting the date and time of an appointment.
Some perv hanging out at the office for the next several days? What are the chances of a) that even happening or b) going unnoticed by other people.
What if the appointment is next week? Or in three weeks? Or in April? Is your hypothetical perv going to sit in the parking lot all day every day for weeks on end? I don't think so.
Pretending to be Kate? I think that voice is pretty unmistakable. Plus they know her at that office. She had her work done there as well. The Orthodontists at the practice are family friends of Jon's.
I just don't see the rationale for getting all up in arms as if it's some kind of endangerment issue. I mean it's common knowledge where the kids go to school. So by your logic, she should never talk about her kids being at school as "some perv" can go watch them get off the bus.
Be up in arms for the fact that she's clearly trying to get something free, or cheap. That's the most offensive part of that tweet.

Couldn't agree more. And those strong and healthy people will go on to raise kids who are also strong and healthy.

Check Please we'll have to disagree. Even when a local paper disclosed the name of their school last year there was a lot of outrage and if I'm not mistaken the paper apologized. I don't allow the school to be named here even though I think a lot of people know it. Specific names of doctors, teachers, and places where medical appoints take place are in my opinion wildly inappropriate and could be dangerous. As it is I would be scared to death that all these people knew where I lived and where my kids went to school, the last thing I want to do is add MORE locations to it. No one seems to know where Jon lives and I'm thankful for that. We shouldn't.
Don't underestimate the tenacity of someone with ill intentions who will sit in his car and watch that dentist office every day waiting for them to show up there. It's very easy to call people up and ask for things as long as you act like you're not doing anything wrong. It is sadly, very easy to fool people. You could even pretend to be the nanny or Kate's assistant. I never had a problem getting information when I was in a similar role. None. I found it surprising that few people ever questioned me. When you exude an air that you are doing nothing wrong, you are who you say you are, and you have nothing but good intentions, few people tend to question you. This is how all these party crasher types had such successes--they just acted like they were supposed to be there.
I actually don't think she should ever talk about the kids going to school as a matter of fact, Check, and I've seen the exact same "sediments" here too. People here always post outrage when Kate reveals stuff about the school.
Kate talks about it so much that we practically know her bus times down to the minute. It's so dangerous and she is lucky nothing has happened. Very lucky. Re-read the stalker post in the sidebar.

Only things that make Kate $$$ get retweeted these days. That is deserving. I can't say I disagree. Puh-shaw, who cares about some precious four year old's bday.
I love your name btw.
I'm a perfectly ordinary person who was stalked by someone for a long time, pre-Facebook, pre-Twitter. The stalker slowly revealed himself, and I was horrified when I realized how much he knew about me.
He knew everywhere I'd been, and everything I'd done for an unbelievably long time. It was horrible to learn that he had been watching me during every free moment he had.
He meant me no harm. He had convinced himself that he was in love with me, even though he had never met me. I was lucky that things did not escalate, but I did move to another city as a result, and had to live with another family.
I was 15 years old.
I can't even describe the damage this did to me. And I was *nobody*!
Yes, there are crazy people out there. You can see them in Kate's Twitter feed. They live Gosselin 24 hours a day.
Maybe none of them will ever sit across from the school, Whole Foods, or the dental office to leer at the kids (or worse), but maybe one of them will, someday. It happens.
Kate has no business putting her kids out there, in public, the way she does now and did in the past. It's beyond stupid. it only takes one nut to shake up a person's whole world, and Kate is out there courting them.

So if it's no big deal to reveal locations and names why did you choose not to tell? Anonymous' story is scary but the truth and I'm so glad she shared it. Stalkers are real, they are savvy, they only need tiny bits of information like dentist names to get big results. We learned this in all the "outing" that went on.
I comforted my friend this week about her stalker from 10 years ago. She too spent years shedding him and finally did. Her workplace is participating in a segment for PBS and she was being pressured to participate. She really didn't want to, but was embarrassed to tell her boss why. She knows full well it will just take one tiny little thing like that for him to get wind of where she is now and start the nightmare up all over again.
I know some people here seem incredibly worried about possible stalkers, or pedophiles watching tapes of the kids, but when it comes down to it the person that is hurting them most, and whom I am most worried about when it comes to their health and safety, lives in their house and they call Mommy.
Tamara sadly that is true. Though we can't change their mommy clearly. We can bring more awareness (awareness!) to the issue of stalkers and pedophiles, things other mommies in similar shoes to Kate have a bit more control over.
If there is one good thing to come out of this, it's that there are surely many families who are thinking twice about ever doing a reality show or if they do will be a lot more careful. We just won't ever know of all those families.

Does anybody remember which episode it was when she said something that started, "Who am I to" turn down free stuff, or something along those lines. It must have been pretty early on, because, I was still watching it. It seemed like such a weird thing to say---my jaw literally dropped. As if it was unimaginable to turn anything down--who says that?
Kate has redefined the term "high maintenance"-- She would have put Marie Antoinette to shame.
Marie--I am sorry about your kitty having to go through that ordeal.
Regarding the ortho:
My kids also went to a very busy office, where the chairs were all out in the open and lots of activity and people around. I have a hard time believing that any professional, outside of a therapist, would not allow a parent in the treatment area, especially behind closed doors. Most professionals are very concerned about the appearance of any impropriety.
Ex Nurse I totally remember that, I think it was Who Am I to Say No followed by a psychotic laugh. I can't remember what it was in reference to, though I'm pretty sure it was some kind of freebie.
&&&&&
Most professionals are very concerned about the appearance of any impropriety.
&&&
The offices most of us are talking about are not small dark rooms with just your kid and the professional. I can see why a parent would want to be in the room for a little kid. Otherwise I see nothing improper about a bustling, open floor plan dentist office like any I've ever been in with lots of hygienists walking around and the TV on food network. My dentist right now doesn't even have rooms except for the Xray room and room for surgery, it's just a big area. And no, parents don't and aren't invited to go back with their kids unless they're really little. It's no more private than taking your kid to the grocery store and nothing to worry about.
There is minor surgery and so on that happens in the office. It's not hygienic to have everyone and their mother literally right there. Your odds are probably higher of getting an infection from a parent hovering there than getting molested.
Has anyone heard anything about Blankinship? Is the investigation on-going and has a date been set for the trial?
Mystic I am wondering the same. I had a really nice D.A. contact in North Carolina who was keeping me updated for the blog (N.C. folks are so nice), but there wasn't really anything to update. Last they talked to me everything was really really preliminary nothing was happening. The D.A. was really excited about this big bust and proud of what had gone down. They did indeed do a good job.
These things can drag out years, sadly. I can try to give him a call again next week to see if there are any dates or anything.
Has anyone watched Roma's Little Angels? Is the series worth buying for kids under age 4? I was in the video shop today, looked at it, but didn't purchase it because I wasn't sure if it's worth the $45 price for the set of three.
I just checked the inmate locator for N.C. Never used it before but assuming I used it correctly, nine Blankinships come up and none of them are William or Bill. Nor is he on the sex offender list. If someone is a better sleuth than me please check my work!
I'm betting this creep is out on bail waiting trial.
Ex Nurse -- I think it was the Christmas episode when Kate said that about not turning down free things. First season? I remember her saying it, too, and it made me stop and think also. Of course, this was back when they were still trying to maintain the appearance of being poor, struggling, frugal parents with 8, count 'em, 8 small mouths to feed. In addition to Kate's over-the-top behavior and her treatment of Jon, it was one of the things that started my alarm bells ringing.

You got it. That's what she tweeted.
Kate's never heard of him is actually the whole point. There are all these creeps YOU HAVEN'T HEARD OF because unlike most normal people who protect their children and only expose personal things to family, friends and medical people, you exposed your kids to hundreds if not thousands of creeps. That's the point Kate, you DON'T know who knows your ids.
The reason we may have heard held without bail may be because bail wasn't set yet. It might have been at a pre-lim. There are nine Blankinships in custody in North Carolina and he's not one of them. I even tried the Blakinenship spelling and he's not listed there either.
I think this guy is out. I left a VM with my DA contact, now I'm anxious to hear what's going on.
SG 193 (on the first page) posted a couple of links in her post, one of which states that Blankenship was released on Oct 21, 2011 after posting $20,000 bail.
(the article was dated Monday Oct 24/11 and refers to the arrest the previous Fri Oct 21/11)
http://www.wral.com/news/news_briefs/story/10292857/
Raleigh, N.C. — A Raleigh man was arrested Friday in a state investigation of child pornography, according to court records.
William Blankenship, 56, of 1909 McDonald Lane, was charged with 10 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He was released after posting a $20,000 bond.
The State Bureau of Investigation received a tip in August about child pornography and found that a computer used to download images since March was connected to an account at 1909 McDonald Lane, according to a search warrant.
Two computers and three hard drives were seized in a search of the home, and SBI agents found more than 200 files depicting suspected child exploitation and abuse that were available for distribution, according to a search warrant.
The US Weekly article linked in SG's comment is dated Oct 29/11 and states that no bond had been set and that Blankenship was "likely under the authority of the US Marshalls until trial" so it appears there is conflicting info out there.

One incident of something happening that is so rare I don't think by any means outweighs the value in a kid taking responsibility for his or her own teeth and care and to have a little sense of independence. I was 13 or 14 years old at the time, the last thing I want is my mom hovering over me every second on the .00001% chance I might get molested.
_______________________________________________
I'm not so sure about that. Why take the chance? Just because an orthodontist has a 'credible' profession doesn't mean he's to be trusted 100%. My goal as a mother is to raise my son to an adult; a healthy one at that. Not be the cool mom who lets him have his own way because he's 'embarassed' by my presence. In this day and age? I wouldn't trust any adult. JMO
I find that dentists are not stupid and will have an assistant present. No need for all the hand wringing.
But I think Kate had no business tweeting the dentist name. There was a reason for that, my friends. She is calculating.
I am convinced she only does things, like these memory books, so she can blog about it. She is a fake.
Sorry, I posted the orthodonist's info based on Kate's tweet. I found it incredulous that she stooped to that level of grifting. He is not a coffee pot, and her level of grifting lately is over the top and shameful. I was literally horrified that she would do this. My bad, no foul intended.
Didn't Kate throw out a memory book on one of the episodes?
She through out the memory books, I believe, when they were moving.

So your child is not smothered and learns to be independent. There is no more risk to letting your child see the dentist on his own in a busy dentist office as there is sending your child on his own to a busy school.
Kids in LA got molested at school, does your child still go to school? You're taking a chance there. There's protection, and there's paranoia.
Look, Kate doesn't need dental insurance at this point. She can write out a check, for heaven's sake. I can tell you one thing, she wants those kids to have the perfect weight and the perfect smile, not because she wants the best for her kids, but she wants to continue to use them as her money makers. Crooked teeth and overweight will not sell.
Canuck, thanks for that info. I'd forgotten he was in federal custody. I searched the federal inmate locator too. Nothing. Everyone who is incarcerated shows up on inmate locators. He's not anywhere I've looked. I think the only answer is he is out on bail.
$20,000 bail is a joke. Not sure I believe that number. Sex abuse cases usually require bail in the millions.
Admin,
It's not paranoia. As a mother I would never leave my young daughters alone with a doctor or dentist. Just like I wouldn't leave them alone in a crowded Walmart to look at toys while I shop. Its not paranoia, it's good parenting.
SG, we weren't talking about leaving them alone. We were talking about letting them go back in a busy dentist office. They aren't alone.I said it's different if it's some dark small room with just you and the dentist--which some people claim is the setup of some places, though not any place I've seen. This started when someone accused another poster of leaving their child alone not knowing the set up of the dentist office and how it might not have been "alone" at all and not even knowing the child's age. In my opinion I don't think you can make a blanket statement never to let your child go back to see the dentist on his own unless you know the circumstances of how that office is set up. Also the age of the child, do you still go back with a 17 1/2 year old?
I guess every parent that ever went to my dentist office is a bad parent since they don't go back. They're not allowed.
It's an open floor plan with tons of people around and very kid friendly and you are never ALONE. I was never alone with the dentist. It just depends on the dentist, the set up, the age of the child, etc.
Not everyone is a bad parent for letting their kid go back there. I just felt defensive of that other poster for being attacked, because the setup of each office is not always dangerous to let a kid back there. Can we agree it depends on the circumstances?
Admin,
You might want to Google child molested by dentist. It happens. Why take the chance?
Yes there are times, like in school, that a child can be molested but you can't got to school with your child. But when you can be there you should be.
I can't believe how paranoid a few Moms are here. I hope most people here are more normal. Your munchkin is more likely to die from a splinter in there finger than get hurt in the situations you described. I picture you like those moms still breast-feeding their 6-year-old.

Totally agree. All about grifting, which is what she has done for over 8 years now. There are no boundaries with her; she has gotten so spoiled by TLC and others trying to help that she now thinks she is entitled to free products/services no matter what. And even though she DOES have the money to pay for these services, she would prefer not to, as it is "HER" money and not to be used for her children and braces. She is disgusting.
SG, I have googled it. There are very few incidents of this. The same articles about the same people come up. Most of the child molestation happened to LITTLE kids and in situations where they were in rooms alone. One dentist never once molested any of his patients at all so I don't think you can count that. He molested kids outside the office.
Go back with your little kid if I recall your kids are young, but to say that ALL KIDs should never go back under any circumstances and to imply people are bad mothers for letting their kids do that doesn't sit right with me. Many dentists offices are just like schools--you can't go back. Many dentist offices are just like schools, you are not alone. IT DEPENDS. I trust most mothers can make good calls based on their individual offices.
My daughter got braces at 11. I only went back to the treatment area when the nurses asked me to, so they could show me something in my daughter's mouth, with the appliances.
There were eight treatment chairs in a big area, all out in the open, no closed offices, and there was never fewer than a dozen adults all in the same area, all with patients in the chair. The treatment chairs also faced a huge wall of floor to ceiling windows that looked out on a busy street.
Of course you'd never let your young child go back to a closed office without you! But this was totally different, so I don't see the basis for any debate here.
Why take the chance? ******
Does your kid have to go outside in a bubble ball?. He could get hurt if he doesn't stay in his bubble ball. Why take the chance!

Neither do I. I don't know of one case of a child being molested when four other dental hygienist were around plus other kids getting cavities filled plus the secretary plus an open floor plan.
No one thinks a child should be alone with a dentist, only that a child of the right age be allowed to go back without mommy holding their hand in offices like the situation you described. Huge difference.
Dallas Lady FYI did you know you're a bad mom? :)
There were eight treatment chairs
^^^^ I know exactly why parents aren't allowed back. Eight treatment chairs, eight hovering overbearing parents breathing down your neck. No wonder dentists tell these parents to put a sock in it and go wait in the waiting room. I pinky swear I won't molest your kid in front of everyone.
I think it's better to teach our children what is bad out there or uncomfortable and how important it is to speak up, then just constantly attach yourself to them like a boil and be their ears and eyes. At some point they will look over their shoulder and will not be there, and the question is will they know what makes them feel bad and uncomfortable and how important it is they should say no and go get help, or will they be helpless because you always were there being their crutch. Face it, you can't protect kids from everything you just can't. But you can raise them to be people who learn how to protect themselves. Attaching yourselves to them does nothing but put off the inevitable when you won't be able to latch on anymore. It is sad to me hearing about all these kids lately who have been molested who never said anything. That should be what really scares us. Not how do we stop it, because face it we can't, but how do we teach our kids to tell us and tell us right away?

More inappropriate information. Can't anyone get tickets to the play or just walk in claiming to be an uncle?
Years ago, my 11 year old daughter was hospitalized overnight following a head injury. Of course I stayed with her every minute, through the emergency room, ambulance transport to a children's hospital etc. When the 11:00PM nursing shift came on duty, the staff was so wonderful that my daughter (who was now feeling better) seemed to think there was going to be a party with the staff! She begged me to leave! I agonized, but I did leave. She wanted to be alone with the staff and she was feeling like she was on a big girl adventure. No ill effects and that child is an MSN now.
MY dentist has private rooms. My previous dentist, the one this kids saw for years, had one open room with a dozen treatment chairs and a dozen staff fussing around the area. Hard and fast rules about what I would and would not allow, did not work for me when raising my 4. Each child was an individual, each situation was it's own event, and I decided to make the effort to judge each circumstance. Perhaps that is why I find Kate's cattle-herding style of parenting so objectionable.
Will the Disney execs be brought in to watch Mady's performance?
Keep pushing, Kate. Keep pushing.
The chances of getting into a serious accident on the way to church two miles away is miniscule, but we do buckle up and we make sure our kids are secured safely in their car seats. When you can take actions to prevent something from happening, no matter how remote the possibility is, most responsible people do.
Great. So now Kate's advertising that her child is in the school play. Way to put it out there for any person who might show up to do some stalking. There is nothing private with this woman.
Buckling up is protection. Not ever getting in the car is paranoia.
I'm surprised she didn't CC @Disney on the tweet.
Everything about her is calculated. Not only trying to make Mady a star one day, but also, SEE Mady LOVES the attention she LOVES being a star a reality show wasn't ever bad for her because she loves being in the public eye.

Yes, her one size fits eight parenting. Yuck. There are many different kinds of responsible parenting and not all of it is exactly the same. And then there's Kate.
OMG. Mady in a school play! What did I say upthread? She just HAD to announce it to the world. I wonder, just wonder if a pap photo will pop up of Mady, Kate and Jon at the school play? I don't put ANYTHING past this woman. And if there is no pap photo, you can be 100% sure that she will post a picture of Mady in her costume. Poor Mady, always trying to please her mother. Ordinarily it's a great occasion to see your child onstage, but let it to Kate to make it a public event.
The trolls are back.
I'm sure Adam Walsh's mother didn't think that anything could happen to her child when she left him a few feet away to watch television while she paid for her purchase at the cash register. We know what happened in that situation. It's not living in a bubble -- it's called parenting. I can't imagine putting a child in a situation where we know something could happen, and then when it does, having to live with the guilt for the rest of your life, saying "Where was I, and why wasn't I there?" When a parent gets a funny feeling about something, and that there might be red flags, you do something about it and not dismiss it as a remote chance that something could happen. You go with your gut.
How old were Sandusky's alleged victims? I haven't been following the story, but these weren't toddlers. How do you prevent an older kid from getting into that situation, from going into a shower with a "trusted" coach? It's every parent's nightmare, and in cases like that, there really is no answer.
I have read this blog since it started but never commented, love you guys. All this talk about kids and dentists offices, there is such a thing as common sense. Different situations call for different actions. The whole goal of a parent is to raise kids to be independent, thoughtful adults who take responsibilty for their actions. You cannot be with kids 24/7. You must teach them about life, good and bad.The key is to keep an open line of communication and teach them to trust their judgement. Kate Gosselin is just wrong in so many ways. I feel bad for her kids, they may have traveled and been places mine have never been, but I guarantee mine are much happier than hers ever will be.
**just a mom and grandma
I wonder, just wonder if a pap photo will pop up of Mady, Kate and Jon at the school play?
######
It's not only Mady, Kate and Jon. You can bet your bottom dollar that the entire family will go to the play. She doesn't THINK! She just doesn't think that any stalker or pap can go to the performances and cause a disruption! It's all about her and how proud SHE is. Poor mom having to drive back and forth to school. All moms do this...it's called being a parent. She just wanted to squash the rumor that the kids are never allowed to do anything outside of their home.
I'm sure Adam Walsh's mother didn't think that anything could happen to her child when she left him a few feet away to watch television while she paid for her purchase at the cash register. We know what happened in that situation. It's not living in a bubble -- it's called parenting. I
&&&
I don't understand the confusion here. Leaving your child ALONE is not what anyone is advocating, and yet it's what people just keep saying we're saying. Stop it, lol! Adam Walsh was also thirty years ago before we became more aware. No one would say that's okay anymore, though back then it was thought it was. It brought great awareness to the fact that you can't do that anymore.
I like what anonymous said about how the important thing is keeping an open line of communication because the fact of the matter is you can't be with your kids 24/7. You may be able to be with them at the dentist IF your dentist allows it, only to have them molested at scouts or church or school when you're not with them.
Parents these days do a pretty decent job being protective of kids in the sense of not leaving them alone, but we need to do a lot better as a society about making sure our kids feel safe to tell us what we should know aout. These molestation cases seem to always go on FAR TOO LONG before it's discovered.
She just wanted to squash the rumor that the kids are never allowed to do anything outside of their home.
&&&&
That too, good point. Can Kate tweet ANYTHING that isn't completely calculated?
Buckling up is protection. Not ever getting in the car is paranoia.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Yes! Just like it's prevention and protection to not allow your child to go into a doctor's examining room with only a physician present. Not ever taking your child to a doctor is paranoia.

When did ANYONE say a kid should be with a doctor alone? No one said this. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT BUSY DENTISTS OFFICES. A poster was accused of sending her child back "alone" without knowing whether it was a busy dentist office in which they weren't alone AT ALL.
I don't know why this is getting so damn twisted around, it's very annoying.
Common sense!! of course you will go with your child to a single exam room with no one else present, but it teaches independence to let them go to an open dentist office with multiple patients at a time. Let's face it, you can't create a perfect world, but you can talk to your kids and listen to your kids and you would be surprised what you can both learn. Every kid is different.
Kate Gosselin should be announcing her kid's part in the play to her family and friends, not a bunch of anonymous people she has never met and knows nothing about.
**just a mom and grandma
I find this very annoying too. PA made a broad statement that no child should ever go back on their own to see a dentist. A below the belt attack on someone's motherhood so of course ppl responded. Others pointed out their kids are not alone with the dentist it's a huge room with lots of people. Other posters called other posters bad mothers for doing this. Then other posters accused so called bad mothers of leaving their kids alone with the dentist which is not what one single person ever said they did by any stretch of the imagination. Then it went to a whole other level comparing them to adam walsh's mother. Of course people are going to get defensive. Reading comprehension skills, people, no one here wants a child to be left alone. Unbelievable.
To add to the freebie list:
Free (custom!) wedding dress from Kleinfeld's/free matchy-matchy clothes for all/free spa treatments/free flowers for free wedding/vacation at Grand Wailea, a 4-5 star resort.
Free cowboy hats/boots/clothes before free trip to dude ranch.
We both had orthodontic work a few years ago. A lot of offices are set up to discourage too many people. The treatment area is chairs lined up in an open room, with literally nowhere for a non-patient to sit. If parents were brought back, they either stood at the feet of their kid or sat on a bench in the corner, which might be far from their kid. Parents usually came to see what the doc wanted them to see and then went back to the reception area. There's a difference between a dentist's office and an orthodontist's office. Big difference.
Can she keep anything the kids do private now that they're off TV.?
It's so funny to me Marie M. the other day was trying to convince us the kids weren't exploited anymore. Because just in the past two days we now know the kids are seeing an ortho and what her name is and where she works, as well as what play Mady is in which anyone could easily find the times and dates for. Not to mention a few tweets from the travel agency about signing up for the cruise because Mady and Cara will be there.
Sure, the kids aren't exploited.
Free swingset/jungle gym.
I went into the dentist chair alone but the hygienist was always present. This is true of every dentist (and the orthodontist) I have been to.

Admin,
You might want to Google child molested by dentist. It happens. Why take the chance?
Yes there are times, like in school, that a child can be molested but you can't got to school with your child. But when you can be there you should be.
***********
By your logic, you should be home-schooling your children rather than taking a chance on strangers at school.
$20,000 bail is a joke. Not sure I believe that number. Sex abuse cases usually require bail in the millions.
---------
Was he arrested for abuse or just possession of child porn? That might explain the lower number. Then again, he could have raped 10 kids and would be back out on the streets way before someone arrested for the third time for marijuana possession.
He was arrested for child porn.
I meant child sex cases in general including porn. With all the counts against him, there were 20 counts or something? He was in federal custody, it was a huge sting. The bail seems low, but whatever it is looks like he posted it.
Why take the chance?
Bike helmets, seat belts etc. The odds against an accident shouldn't prevent you from taking precautions.
Yes, my children are "young." I believe I said so in my comment. They are 6 and 8. I wasnt referring to a "minor" meaning under the age of 18. I was referring to young children.
And no I will not leave them alone with a dentist or doctor. Maybe some dentist offices are wide open with six kids being taken care of at once. I've never heard of such a thing. Our dentist has room for one patient in a room with four walls and a door.
Just like some people take offense to the term "bad parenting," some, like myself, take offense to "paranoid parenting" or "overprotective parenting."
Some parents may take the chance, however small it may be. Some don't. I happen to not take chances with my young daughters when it comes to certain things. Better safe than sorry. Especially when the risk is something that can scar them for life.
Adam Walsh was long ago. Did you see the RECENT video of the little girl being abducted in the toy section of Walmart by a man while her mother shopped for groceries? She left her daughter is a public place with other shoppers around and video surveillance. The little girl fought back and won. It could have ended badly because the mother made a bad choice. She risked her daughter's safety probably because the odds of abduction in such a big public place were low.
Really SG? Most dentist offices I've ever been look like this:
http://www.accentllc.com/assets/images/svpd2.jpg
Big room, huge windows, several chairs, lots of people. This is a smart setup, not only because of how inviting and happy it looks, but because it avoids any impropriety. Of course if it's just a kid alone in a room with a dentist no one would question a parent wanting to be there. That's not the situation most of us were talking about, even though what was said was twisted around.
It was a protective parent who questioning someone less of a helicopter first, so naturally they dished it back. I know it wasn't you, but you can't call someone out specifically then be upset when others rush to their defense. There is nothing I have read here that makes me question the vast majority of people's ability to protect children. It's Kate I worry about.
Yes, Marie M. is done. So sad, it was kind of fun for awhile!
SG, really? No one, not one person here, has ever said a kid should be left alone in a store. Not even one. For that very reason.
Don't take one situation (a dentist office) and morph and twist it into a thousand other scenarios.
Admin,
My Walmart story was in reply to the Adam Walsh comment and not watching your child in the store while shopping or paying etc. . Not the dentist office comments. Two different scenarios.
And yes, I was only referring to leaving a child alone with a dentist or doctor in an enclosed office not an open floor plan with several patients at once.
There is danger in having a kid who is sheltered and over protected too. Jaycee Dugard says one of the reasons she didn't try to escape was she was too shy and cowardly and had no backbone. There is important value in having an independent child. It may even save their life someday.

---------------------
Apparently some parents are not aware.
Anyone else here waiting breathlessly for the promised blog post about her amazing and tiiring day yesterday? Thought not. Have a nice weekend everyone.
Isn''t it more likely that someone would be molested by a family member or close adult friend than a dentist office out in the open with multiple assistants?
There will always be bad parents but that's apples and oranges from the dentist office.
Yes most sex abuse comes from family or friends. Maybe the helicopters should cancel all future family gatherings. You can't take the chance. People the news wants you to think you're not safe at the dentist when the truth is you're not safe in your own home!
There is danger in having a kid who is sheltered and over protected too. Jaycee Dugard says one of the reasons she didn't try to escape was she was too shy and cowardly and had no backbone. There is important value in having an independent child. It may even save their life someday.
-----------------------------------
I think a parent should do both. Protect your child when you can be there and teach them to protect themselves when you can't. I don't think a young child should learn by experience when it comes to protecting themselves. It doesn't have to be either or.
And again, I did not mean to offend anyone because I was NOT referring to a dentist office with multiple patients and an open floor plan. I've really never heard of that. Sounds great.
Off topic, but it's about narcissism. I tried watching Whitney Houston's funeral, but my GOSH, all Kevin Costner has talked about is HIMSELF for 10 minutes! I could not believe what I was hearing! He's wrapping it up now and finally speaking only about her.
Look at what we are doing here. Most of us feel the Gosselin children will be damaged from their private lives displayed on TV and online. We don't know for sure but we care enough to say Get them off TV. We get frustrated Kate ignores the warnings and thinks its worth the risk. She may actually believe there is no risk or that the positives outweigh the negatives.
If the risks are unknown or possibly small is she in the right? I don't think so. I think she is risking her children being scarred for life because she doesn't see the same risks we do. We call her selfish and a bad parent for it. At least some of us do.
Okay I'm typIng on my iPhone and made that comment shorter than I wanted to. I hope my point came across like I meant it. All I was referring to was parents taking risks with their children's well-being based on the percentage of the risk. I wasn't directly referring to anything in particular like dentists, car accidents, etc. Maybe I will wait until I'm off my iPhone to comment.

I am changing the subject back to memory books. I am not
sue what one is exactly, is this a photo album, a scrapbook, what?
An expression I hear a lot these days is "making memories" for kids. As a child raised in the 50's, memories were not made for us, they we made BY us. My memories of my childhood do not always include the big birthday parties, or a trip somewhere, they are most often the tender moments with a parent reading you a story, or tucking you in at night.
In today's world, it seems things are over-produced to garner a memory. Case in point, tweeting about Mady's school play. Does the world need to know this, or was this tweet more about making another memory for her sheeple about herself and all she does for her children. In this case driving Mady back and forth for her rehearsals.
Ex Nurse said.... Does anybody remember which episode it was when she said something that started, "Who am I to" turn down free stuff, or something along those lines.
--------------------------
I seem to remember her standing in front of the Christmas Tree and talking about accepting gifts from fans when she made that comment. It may have also been that fake Christmas morning episode that Jodie and Kevin reported on.

&&&
Yes. It's a control thing isn't it? I will decide what will be a memory for my kid!
No, your kid will decide. And that will include the good AND the bad, like the time they screamed for their daddy as he dropped them off at Mommy's.
PJ I tivoed it so I haven't watched yet. I saw 20/20 interviewed him but I haven't watched it yet.
Kevin Costner has always been like that. I heard he's harmless though kind of a tool. I've always thought he has an air about him that he is a lot better actor/director/whatever he dabbles in than he really is.
Also, The Bodyguard sucked! And Dances with Wolves could have been awesome was too dang long!!! Hehe.
Admin, he spoke for more than 15 minutes about HIMSELF. I was just disgusted.
PJ what do you expect, he has his own band. How many celebs who take a leave of absence to go play rock ban aren't tools?
Yeah, none.
Remember that rumor (not even the right word) that he jacked off while having a massage on his honeymoon? I believe every word of that. Heh.
That golf movie sucked too. Tin cup?
Admin., tell us how you really feel! :)
I think Kevin Costner as an actor sucks, period. He's monotone and emotes absolutely nothing. I never understood how he got this career. I expected more of him as a person though, especially at a funeral for someone else! Stevie Wonder is currently singing a beautiful song he wrote, and Alicia Keyes did the same.
Tala, lol. Name one good Kevin Costner movie. Go.
Okay I'll concede Field of Dreams.
Just to clarify my last post:
"I have a hard time believing that any professional, outside of a therapist, would not allow a parent in the treatment area, especially behind closed doors. Most professionals are very concerned about the appearance of any impropriety."
I was saying that most professionals have a policy that requires that no staff member is alone with a child, out of fear of being accused of impropriety. I didn't mean that I had to be present--I just would be suspicious if I was told that I couldn't be. Doctors and dentists are very concerned about being accused of any kind of inappropriate behavior--it could ruin their reputation.
At the dentist, if my child was comfortable, I left the room once they were settled in and knew what to expect. One of my daughters always wanted me to be there so that she could squeeze my hand. It helped her to co-operate with the dentist while still allowing her to respect her own fears. As long as I was out of their way, the dentist was fine with that. No one ever shamed her about it or told her to ignore her fears. I didn't stay with my other 2 kids--they didn't need me. One day, she turned to me and, very proudly, told me she didn't want me there. She got to that point, on her own.
I have always just responded to my kid's cues. I would never want to tell a young child to ignore their fears or not express them. Kids have different timelines for reaching emotional maturity, and I believe that, within reason, that should be respected. She learned to work through her fears in a safe environment and I think that it helped her to learn to develop healthy tools for living. Later in life, this kid that was so afraid to be away from me, spent a year in Italy for a graduate program.
Sorry if my lack of clarity muddied the discussion. I can't imagine putting filmed footage of my daughter's fear out there as entertainment, as Kate did. Her personal lack of boundaries has, I am sure, seriously damaged her children's own emotional barometers. We have already seen two of the tups expulsion for violating personal boundaries. Sigh.......

What's so interesting about Kate is that for all her control issues in SOME areas she is actually a pretty hands off mother--in her book she talks about leaving the kids alone in the house and one of the girls hurt herself and to this day they never knew how, we've seen the kids left alone in the car, Collin crawling under the car, and kids left alone with the camera crew (one of the most egregious) . Yet she has so smothered and violated their personal boundaries by filming them and broadcasting it to millions I think we all seriously wonder how they will ever recover from it and learn to be healthy and independent people. She is a conniption.
I should do a post on Jaycee's book not only does she talk about TLC but she does indeed talk about how being such a dependent child prevented her from escaping. Around the time of her kidnapping her parents were just starting to try to get her to come out of her shell. It is actually so frustrating to read about all the opportunities in her book she could have told people I've been kidnapped HELP ME. She even used to talk to a little boy through the fence. She never once asked for help. Even when she was questioned by police she kept up a story for an HOUR about how she was visiting from Michigan. Craziness. Of course the cops thought her story didn't make sense and kept pressing and pressing to finally get it out of her. I think we need to really focus on why we have kids who are afraid to even tell the most non threatening people (a child through the fence) that something is wrong, and fix that problem first. It breaks my heart.
I also liked Field of Dreams. I have a friend who thinks Bull Durham was awesome.
Going to have to disagree, I thought Kevin Costner spoke movingly. Watching while attacking paper piles, the musical tributes are beautiful, but it is going on way longer than I expected, feeling very sorry for her daughter.
Also does it make you wonder, would the Gosselin kids actually tell an adult if something were wrong--they didn't want to film, they didn't want to go on a cruise and meet creepy fans, they want to live with Daddy, they don't like how Kate treats them, they are hungry and want more food. Just some examples.
Or would they be just like many other kids who kept quiet. I fear the latter.
I am not surprised it's long. You know, I tivoed it but now I'm not sure if I'm going to watch it. It seems like something that should be private. Is this what she wanted out of curiosity?
Kevin Costner thinks his monotone voice and blank stare is sexy because why would he have to bother to add inflection to his voice and expressions to his face he is wonderful and perfect without even bothering to ACT. Sounds like Kate actually, why should I actually have to DO something just hand me things because I'm me!
Tee-hee.
Westcoaster, I'm watching while attacking the desk too, so maybe I heard it wrong, but I did hear a lot of I, me, my and when he talked about nobody wanting her in the Bodyguard except him, I had to tune out.
You are right, this thing is going on forever! I see people getting up and leaving now and then, maybe for a potty break or something. perhaps they should have had a private family funeral and then a tribute like this later. It would be a lot to sit through as a grieving family member.
Admin, you are cracking me up! You and I feel the same about Mr. Costner. Her sister (I think) just spoke very eloquently - and for a fraction of the time that Costner did. Her own sister! I'm signing off now; why am I watching something that bugs me. I doubt this is what she would have wanted.
........especially now that R. Kelly is singing a song about the Lord. This is the guy who had sex with minors and pissed on them!
Of course Maddy is allowed to be in a school play by Kate. This experience is helpful if Maddy is to become the next Disney breakout star and support her mother in the high style she has become accustomed to.
Admin, I definitely think you should make a post about Jaycee. That was an incredible book, and how she has come out so well after what she endured is amazing. I cried when I read what she went through. I hope that scum Philip Garrido rots in jail for the rest of his miserable life.
I sort of liked Kevin Costner in what may have been his first movie, Silverado. But since then, not so much.
I guess some people never saw Dances with Wolves, one of the best movies ever.

The thing is, I've always believed, and still do, that the reality show isn't in the top 3 of things Kate (and Jon, reallly) did to damage their kids.
Re Costner, that's what separates Kate from other NCP in showbiz. They work hard and are more intelligent. You'd be surprised the celebs that turn out to be "me, me, me". I know I have.
I loved Dances with Wolves. I didn't think it was too long either. I even enjoyed the version with added scenes.
ITA with admin about the monotone. His Robin Hood was ridiculous--not even an attempt at an English accent!
Back to Kate--
Parents' number one job is protecting their children from harm. How they do that and where the line is drawn is a personal matter and should be respected-except when the parent is the one violating their safety!
How Kate is perceived is much more important to her than protecting her children by keeping their lives private--she tweets information that could actually help those that would do her harm.
And, as usual, Kate requires extraordinary recognition for doing something ordinary. Bravo, Kate--standing ovation.
Speaking of actors or actresses, do any of you wonder where or how someone became famous. Jennifer Love Hewitt, the Drew guy on the Price is Right, Carrie on Cash for Carrie (HGTV). I know these were not picked for their shiney personalities.
Maybe Khate has it right...if you want to be a stah....just shove it on out there. ROTFLMAO
I love Dances With Wolves, but Costner is the weakest part of the whole movie. If another actor had done it, it would be over the top fantastic.
Seeing as how Kate feeds her kids such portions, the 200 pounds of chicken she bought/grifted today is going to last over a decade. It'll get frost burned before it's used up.
And is this what it's come to? Dentists, school plays and buying chicken on sale? She better watch out, she's sounding more like someone pretending to be a mom than someone pretending to be a TV personality. LOL.

________________
I vote yes--I am going to suggest this book to my book club. This will give me a leg up in the discussion, because, of course, everything is a competition that I must win. I can't even visualize Kate as part of a book club-- I don't have enough imagination for that!
I meant minuscule portions.
pamelajo, Drew Carey was a successful stand-up comedian before he transitioned into TV. He was very good too! Now that he's transitioned out of sitcoms and into hosting, he became part owner of the Seattle Sounders. My husband met him on a plane and thought he was the nicest, most gracious guy. Don't know about the other ones you mentioned though. Does make one wonder!
TWO HUNDRED pounds of chicken? Yuck. That's a lot of sammynella
I have a friend who works on the production side of Price Is Right. Drew Carey is extremely nice according to her, lets coworkers use his house when he's on vacation or sometimes even invites people on vacation with him.
200 pounds??? That better be a good price.
Isn't there a rule where you can't clear out an entire aisle at a grocery store? Save some for other people. GREEDY.
I'd love to see another actor in Dances With Wolves though I'm not sure who. Maybe an unknown would have been good. Someone who isn't so distracting because you have a history of bad movies with them.
Have you noticed Kate is only excited about Mady when she is doing something on the performance side? Playing music, plays, directing. We have no clue what this child's other interests are. She must have some.
Something about the Duggar children...
I'm not a regular viewer, but I watched about 15 mins. of their show about three weeks ago.
I was SO SURPRISED at how much ALL of the kids have changed. They were louder, more boisterous, talking back when told what to do (in soft voices), and the boys were actually violent as they played a game with swords. I also noticed, especially with the girls, a lot of clothes that looked brand new, too fashionable to have come from a used clothing store.
All in all, the biggest change, though, was HOW LOUD every one was; even Jim Bob!
Please, someone tell me I'm not crazy; has anyone else noticed these changes? I know I didn't imagine it.
Or someone who doesn't have such a monotone voice and overall flat effect.
Yep, 200 pounds. She makes it sound like a great deal, but to her that probably means, "GOT THAT SHIT FOR FREE, BITCHES!"
You know how the Irish Travelers are known for ripping people off? At least they PRETEND to do a job for you. She's worse than them, she just expects everything to be handed to her.
When she refinanced the house, I wonder if she tried batting her eyes and sighing those little pissy sighs and poking at her dry eyes with a tissue to get something for nothing. It wouldn't surprise me if she did. However, I'm quite sure they gave her nothing.

Probably not any thing that will bring in $$$$$$$.
Yeah really. She probably likes art and soccer or something. Kate can't figure out how to farm that out for cold hard cash.
To Kate, any attention is better than no attention. I mean she hasn't been anywhere really since everything has cooled down about her no longer being on TV. No interviews, no press, no pictures for quite some time by anyone.
That's all she's got is to talk about how her kids make her look good.
Her latest writing about the kids, you notice she wrote about all the kids individually, but lumped the boys together about how they help her with chickens or take out the trash. That's it.
She talks a lot more about her girls than she does her boys. It's like her sons are background characters.
Parenting styles is ones choice and all that, the reason Kate is so hated is because she is so public about it. She tells just about everyone in the whole world that her daughter's in a school play, her kids do this, they said this or they are doing this. And it's almost always about it makes her proud, never about how happy her kids are, if it is it's from her mouth and not them.
She isn't going to be able to handle when her kids figure out they are not extensions of herself and are actually independent, individual people, not 3s, not 6s or 8 together.
I used to live across the street from a woman whose kids weren't allowed to go over to other people's houses, they weren't allowed to shut their bedroom door, if they whispered they got into trouble because she couldn't hear what her kids were saying. She inspected book bags, hovered, hands on the cart in the store.
Her youngest is now grown up, 26 years old and this woman still controls her money, knows where she is, who all her friends are. She just now only recently managed to move into her first apartment and hasn't a clue how to manage money without something telling her how.
This is what worries me about Kate's kids. Parents have the right to protect their kids but you can over do it sometimes and that in a way is not always better than giving them freedom to do other things.
No, today's world doesn't appear as safe as it used to but kids are going to need at the very least some rope. It's not about giving them a lot or not enough but just...some.
Take a deep breath. Crime rates are down and keep going down and more than 80% of kidnappings are done by the other parent. Did you know of every 10,000 kidnappings only one child ends up dead? Even if you are kidnapped odds are you'll be fine. The world isn't that scary, the news just wants us to think it is. Kids are more at risk in their own homes by bad parents. Marie talks about the weird consequences of parents being so scared like 26 year olds who act like infants. I believe it. Even Jaycee Dugard says she won the bad luck lottery in that what happened to her just doesn't happen that much. Doesn't mean you shouldn't protect your kids but doesn't mean you have to live in constant fear and suppress them either.

_____________
Most likely, some of the kids will never figure this out. The ones that are favored will probably never understand what some of their sibs have experienced. I hope that the kids will all be close and stay in each other's lives, after they are freed from the sadistic warden of the Alcatraz that they call home.
It is inevitable that each of them will have differening levels of success in their lives. When will they be learning to love and support each other instead of letting Mom divide and conquer? Probably not until they have escaped her clutches.
Grocery store etiquette! Did she clear out the shelf? I was always taught that was rude. How did she get all this chicken home and in the fridge or freezer before it started to go bad?
What am I saying I don't believe it was 200 lbs in the first place.
One point I'd like to make is about the news. We have a 24/7 news cycle that needs to be filled, often by talking heads or sensationalism.
Back in the day, we had the morning, evening and nightly (11:00) news. News also used to be considered a public service from the networks. It is now a money making proposition.
And stories about how yet another father kidnapped his child aren't really news even though it happens every day. Jaycee, now that's news. Even though that's only ever happened to a small handful of kids.
&&&&

Yes you're right I think. Look at Joan Crawford's kids. Chris and Christina described horrible abuse. But her younger kids were clueless and called them liars. But we know they are not liars as several other independent adults confirmed what they saw. I suspect Hannah will be the one saying that's not what *I* experienced, and she would be right, she didn't.
Grocery store etiquette!
ETIQUETTE? Kate? Ha,ha,ha.
Admin said...Don't take one situation (a dentist office) and morph and twist it into a thousand other scenarios.
&&&&&&&&
It's all about the protection of our children, whether it's alone with a dentist or pediatrician, or turning our backs on them in a store. Every scenario requires good, common sense. Bottom line is that if a parent feels uncomfortable in a situation where a child is concerned, you err on the side of caution.
A big room with a bunch of people and other kids make you uncomfortable to send your kid off to than bottom line is it's time to get yourself some therapy....
200 pounds of chicken--that would be around 80 chickens. If they are organic, then maybe more because they are smaller.
She really just can't help her self-aggrandizing over-the-top exaggeration of EVERYTHING, no matter how trivial. She is, at least, consistent--I will give her that. There is no life event that is too small for the Kate treatment. If this is close to true, it shows how little is really going on in her life.
You know what's suspicious about this? Chicken usually comes in packages of 5.78 pounds or 6.20 pounds or 8.38 pounds. Not 10 pounds even or 20 pounds even. So she added all those random numbers up in her head and they came to 200? I don't think so.
I wonder if purse-boy is still going on the cruise with Kate.?
She has to tweet about buying 200 lbs. of chicken? Why?
Probably because she got it free in return for a tweet.
Actually I think it's plain as day to all of Kate's kids that there is favoritism with regards to how their mom treats them. Some days it's the twins, others it's the tups, the big girls, the little girls, and of course, never the boys, unless it's to clean chicken shit out of the coop. But the fact is that she treats some of her children better than others and makes no attempt to hide that from the unfavored kids.
Well, I'm sure that the 200 pounds of chicken Kate got on sale was the freshest, bestest chicken available. I get nervous buying meat on sale. Some things aren't worth bargain shopping for

Me too! I won't buy meat at certain discount places I go to. There is a reason certain things are discounted.
I bet were going to here how tired she is cause of all the chicken prep she has to do.
And how tired she is cause she got to make lots and lots of chicken dishes.
And how much the kids are loving the chicken she made.
chefsummer:
BINGO!
and HILARIOUS!
What the *bleep* is she talking about "food saving"?? That makes no sense to me at all. Did I miss something along the way?
I agree that some kids today are very much over-protected. We see it at school all the time. Kids entering kindergarten who have NEVER been away from their parents for even an hour. Never allowed to spend the day at Grammy and Grampa's, never allowed to go to a friend's home for a playdate or lunch, never had a babysitter for any reason at all. These are the kids that have the most difficulty integrating into the classroom. The truth of the matter is that NOTHING is 100% safe 100% of the time. It's important to observe safeguards, but it's a balancing act between protection and suffocation. Make a reasonable risk assessment, take all the necessary safeguards, then let kids be kids. At some point, we need to put our trust in something -- God, ourselves, the Universe, whatever. Kids who are not allowed to learn from mistakes; who have every waking moment, thought and action closely supervised to the point of inertia; who haven't been taught to recognize danger and what to do to avoid it, are, ironically, the ones most vulnerable to injury, be it physical or emotional.
There's only one reason we're hearing about chickens and black rice - Kate got a tremendous spanking earlier this week from fans and non-fans alike. She stupidly went overboard for days, tweeting about her elaborate plans for her kids' Valentines surprises, only to post the most PALTRY and inadequate plates I have ever seen. This is AFTER being spanked amweek or so before, for stupidly tweeting that she could feed her family of 9 with three chicken breasts (coincidentally...here shw is discussing chicken again?). No coincidence. The spankings got to her and she's trying to prove something. The questions are: WHAT is she trying to prove to all of us - a bunch of cyber-strangers to her and WHY is she trying so hard to prove something? If she was truly confident about her abilities and choices as a mom, she wouldn't have to work so hard to deflect and disprove!! (Deflect and disprove every second of negative 'press' she causes all by herself!!).
I think she got, or grifted, a food saver vacuum sealer. Then at an outlet store, she purchased, or grifted, a whole lot of chicken, which she is now busy vacuum sealing and tossing in her several freezers. This will turn into a blog post for CC and many chicken recipes. At a lb/recipe/9people, she will have enough chicken for many years. Or something like that. Maybe she now thinks she's Pioneer Woman. And on a long weekend with her kids at home. Interact much Kate?
It never fails to surprise me how little Kate brags about her kids. I'm not remotely surprised she knows nothing about their personalities, likes, hobbies etc, she never has and she is too NPD to ever be expected to. But I've known parents who know nothing about their children, and they still manage to brag about them at every turn. She goes beyond those Moms and Dads who see their kids only as an extension of themselves. They are an extension of her, but it's like they are her toes or hair that she cuts and dyes.
She's Tweeting that she used the Foodsaver to vacuum pack and freeze all the chicken she bought. She got the Twitter ID correct for the Foodsaver, but the chicken looks like she bought it from a wholesaler, Bell and Evans.
Here's the website for that company.
http://www.bellandevans.com/
Plus, this company isn't on twitter, which she doesn't know and assumed that their twitter handle would be @bell&evans Twitter doesn't use the ampersand symbol for names.
Wonder if she grifted the foodsaver?
I bought one and think it's terrific.
Anon @140: A big room with a bunch of people and other kids make you uncomfortable to send your kid off to than bottom line is it's time to get yourself some therapy....
Nobody said that, or even implied it. Some have said that private offices or treatment rooms in which the doctor or dentist is alone with the child would make them nervous, as it should. I would have no problem in the practice of an orthodontist where chairs are lined up in one room (as it is in some practices), with one of more dentists and assistants and kids running around.
However, having a child alone in a private treatment room with a doctor with whom I was not familiar, then yes, I would be there. No therapy is needed for responsible parents who have an instinct about such things. It's just common sense.

I believe she is trying to do what she should have done years ago; brand herself as a thrifty couponing Mom and expert on all things related to raising kids and running a household. The problem is that her show was canceled, in great part, due to her unappealing personality. It's way too late for her to salvage any sort of career on TV so she grasping at any straw that floats by in her personal shit storm.
Nobody said that, or even implied it.
)))))
Yes they did, Pa. Anonymous said it. She mad a rash judgment that parents should never leave their kid alone at the dentist ASS-suming that all dentists were set up just like hers when that's not true. Which is what started this whole thing one overbearing parent assuming all parents were just like her or they must be negligent. It was uncalled for and i don't blame other moms at all for getting upset.
Nothing tastes as thrifty as salmonella feels.
Admin please! Sammynella.
I'm surprised that she hasn't posted pictures of the 200 pounds of chicken. Oh wait........
Kids in LA got molested at school, does your child still go to school? You're taking a chance there. There's protection, and there's paranoia.
________________________________________
Exactly. So why wouldn't I be sure she/he's protected when I AM afforded the opportunity?
There's protection and there's laissez faire.
Plus, this company isn't on twitter, which she doesn't know and assumed that their twitter handle would be @bell&evans Twitter doesn't use the ampersand symbol for names.
_______________________
I think that it is hilarious that she just makes up twitter names. You would think she would take the time, since, if she is mentioning it, then she is grifting for it, to get it right. It is such a reflection of her magical, childish thinking--she wishes it and it is true. When she started on twitter, she used to talk to an invisible admin or issue commands to TLC to stop false accounts with her name.
I am guessing that maybe Kate came from a family in which she never learned self-reliance or where she fits into the world-- It really is sad how unequipped she is for dealing with the normal stresses of life. To her, if a little is good, then more is always better. That's why, despite the constant ridicule of her exaggerations, she always takes thing too far. It is a sure indication of childish thinking and arrested development--at least some of her kids will probably do the same.
I have the tiniest bit of of hope that Kate is being forced, through her evaporating career and funds, to learn that there is contentment and satisfaction in the small things. I know, I am an optimist at heart... For the kids sake, I hope it is true. I hope that Kate will go to Mady's play, compliment and acknowledge other kids' and their parents and, you know, just for a few hours, just be Mady's mom--not Kate Plus 8.
No one single person here was suggesting anything CLOSE to laissez faire, Nightshifer. Not one. I've never seen posters here twist around what was said so much, it is disappointing.
Add to our reasons why the kids are still exploited, Kate just tweeted another pic of them. Funny she said she just found them like that, because I've never seen such a posed photo, right down to their mischievous grins.
Line up kids.
OP explained it better. A child needs to be allowed out into the world a bit so if anything ever does happen he or she has the confidence to handle it. You don't have a two month old forever you have to let them function on their own at some point. I worry for your kids do they actually like mommy breathing down their neck. Be care you might be raising kids who will be so smothered they will rebel and do the opposite with their own kids never ever watch them at all scary.
3-4 whole breasts per meal versus 2-3 before...3lb ground beef instead of 2... 2 minutes ago
&&&
Wait. For EIGHT KIDS plus an adult??? What the heck! That's less than half a breast per person! And if it's organic it's smaller, I remember someone pointing that out, they are so right.
Kate feed your kids for gosh sakes.
Is there a new "rag" article out about Kate?
(question because of recent tweet above).
Today seems to be all Whitney all the time.
I'm sure her hotdog dinner was a freebie tonight, since she posted pics of the wrapped hotdogs and tweeted about it and named the company. Had to exclaim how delicious it was, so I'm sure more freebies from this place will be headed her way. Do you think the kids each got half of a hotdog? Or maybe just a quarter of one each?
200 pounds of chicken...WTF! That's like 22 pounds per person. If she's going to exaggerate why not pick a more believable number? Oh wait, this is Kate we're talking about and her motto is if you're going to lie, lie big!
If she is complaining she has to use 3-4 chicken breasts versus 2-3...what the heck is she going to do when her kids are teenagers? Particularly her sons? Is she going to restrict their food in take still? Is she going to be horrified that the kids eat a whole piece of something over a half?
Get over it Kate. Kids eat. If she's going to control her kids food until they are 18...those kids are headed for a rough road and Kate will probably be proud, "look at how little they eat!" By the time something goes wrong, since she's too stupid to figure it out this could end badly.
Does Kate get payed for that boring blog she writes? I wonder why she doesn't allow comments on her blog? she could be answering some questions from all her adoring fans.
I wonder why she doesn't allow comments on her blog?

Moderation would be a full time even Kate doesn't have time for. I bet she'd be deleting 97% of what comes in. Just judging by the fiasco we had this week, that's hard work actually.
I saw where Kate's "keeper of the addresses" BG asked for a RT for her son's birthday which is tomorrow. I wonder if Kate will find that deserving of a RT.
By the way, she never did send a retweet for that 4 years old's birthday. She should either retweet ALL or retweet NONE. I can't blame some of her fans for feeling like she has favorites.
@MiloandJack its already creeping up... 3-4 whole breasts per meal versus 2-3 before...3lb ground beef instead of 2...
___________________________________________
This. Bitch.
At the rate of "3 to 4 whole breasts per meal" it will take 3 yrs. for her to use that chicken up. FoodSaver or not, chicken gets freezer burned quite easily. Yuck.
I just can't get the Oliver Twist image out of my head, those poor G kids holding up their paper plates and saying "please Mom, I want some more!"
Parental control of food to prevent some imagined future problem with food-- almost always guarantees a future problem with food. God bless those poor babies :(
I'm sure her hotdog dinner was a freebie tonight, since she posted pics of the wrapped hotdogs and tweeted about it and named the company.
&&&
How does this work actually? Do you just like cold call a hotdog company and explain you have eight kids and are a D-lister and you want free hot dogs? Maybe write a letter/email? Does this really work?
I wonder what ever happened to the poster Lord of the Beans? I wanted to let them know the Canadian soldiers are enjoying the Keurigs, too. Coffee, not, tea. :)
Saw the picture if the kids on twitter. Wow, talk about staged and fake. But at least there's proof that at least 5 books exist in that forlorn house
Someone tweeted "i didn't even know @kateplusmy8 and IamStevenT were together". I am assuming just to see what kind of reaction they would get from Kate, and Kate fell hook, line and sinker. The tweet was referring to an article on the Spoof website saying that Kate is begging Steven Tyler to take her back.
http://www.thespoof.com/news/spoof.cfm?headline=s4i103751
Just a silly article (like every one on that site-hence the name "the spoof")
It clearly states at the end of the article that it is satire or parody and totally fictitious. I find it hard to believe that anyone could mistake that story as true, and if Kate would've taken two seconds to Google it, instead of just jumping on it and saying TOTAL TAB LIE and maybe saying, yeah I saw that, it's just a parody, never even met Steven Tyler, she wouldn't look like such a juvenile idiotic fool.
Look at the kids' mischievous smiles. I have never seen such a fake photo. And I actually believe they DO go off and read by themselves because they sure as hell aren't going to be read to by Kate. But this photo is FAKE.
Kate's on an exploitation roll tonight!

@Kateplusmy8 does Hannah still have her own room and the others share? Just curious! ;)
Kate Gosselin @Kateplusmy8 Close
@xoGosselinxo nope. Couldn't stand to be alone! That didnt last long at all..
Why the hell is a fan wondering what the sleeping arrangements are and even moreso why the hell is Kate answering such a nosey question????

This is such a classic way that some adults handle childhood abuse they never processed, I just can't shake the feeling she was abused at some point as a kid. Maybe not necessarily by a parent, but someone. And it happened at about the age she is stuck at, 12.

Kate really should make up a handy memo/fee schedule/price list for her twatters like she did for the people who booked them for the church chats.
That tweeple who was annoyed last week seemed to catch the drift that for Kate's attention & a RT you had BETTER BE RUNNING! Running to Target or Starbucks to get her a gift card! Or her latest scam, getting the tweeties to flood a business with tweets so she doesn't have to exhaust herself from her new career of begging full time.
Kate doesn't do anything for nothin' sheeple. You're figuring it out. We knew you would.
Why are they all wearing their pajamas so early in the night? Guess she makes the babies go to bed soon after dinner. And has she ever heard of freezer burn? Come on, keeping chicken in the freezer for a year? Idiot.
Remember, that the Grand Canyon is 'like 10,000 miles long',..I don't for one second believe she bought 200 lbs of chicken.
She says that thinking she will be seen as thrifty...my first thought was, other than the lying,...who of her twitter fans can afford that much chicken in one purchase? And who of her fans has four freezers?
this woman needs to be institutionalized.
Two hundred pounds of chicken is just ridiculous, no matter how many kids you have. The only scenario that makes senses is that she grifted it or got a steep discount and her superpower of greed kicked in.
Sounds like full blown food hoarding. No one in their right mind buys 200 pounds of chicken unless they are going to cater a huge, huge event. The food will be ruined in 6 months. But the kids will have to eat it any way, no doubt. No wonder they are sick all the time with a stomach "virus." They probably agreed to let her have it wholesale and she promised to spread the word on her sick little Twitter and of course she wiped them out. Never a missed opportunity. I have long suspected she had taken up hoarding.
And it happened at about the age she is stuck at, 12.
------------
Okay, that's just insulting to 12 year olds ;)
I don't think she was ever abused. Some people just ARE narcissistic, lazy, unintelligent, selfish, assholes. And she is one of them.
ex nurse,
The only way Kate would be at a book club meeting, is if you were reading a book about her and she could yammer on ,ad nauseum about herself. The rest of you could sit and listen all enraptured-ish, like the sheeple do.
Not that I think you are one; you could point out all the lies and make her look like the grifter she is.Terrible waste of a good book club meeting!
OK, I took a look at the Bell and Evans web site and they've got lots of chicken products, i.e., chicken nuggets, chicken franks, breaded chicken this and breaded chicken that. I'm sure that's mostly what she got. Throw them in the microwave with some gravy and cheese and presto..."homemade" chicken parm. She doesn't even have to use the food saver just toss the boxes in the freezer and that's the real reason she didn't take a picture, can't be supermom if you're just cooking from a box.
Mady's favorite word in a word game is tragic? Makes perfect sense, does it not? How tragic that her childhood and worst moments have been sold for money that she will never see.
So, Kate is buying 200 lbs.of chicken and playing with a foodsaver, nope, not the Kate I know of.This is the same one who put raw chicken on the new bbq ,at the after -divorce supper with Jon?
Didn't have enough brains to put it on tin foil, spray the grill or season or baste it,and still managed to undercook it, serving it pink to the family. There were very few pieces on there for a family of 10 too.
She did the same thing on the RV trip, when she was putting together that little bbq and she bought a package of chicken for all of them who were there to eat, and then burnt it. The woman does not know what the hell to do with chicken, buying, grilling, or cooking with it.Why lie, we've all seen her cook chicken?
Really Kate? No one gives a flying f**k about the little word games your kids play with you. I really didn't laugh when I read your tweet. It's funny to you because you are drunk right now.
whoops, should be hey jude! Kate annoys the hell outa me.
Kate is still spending like a movie star. Exactly. Who the hell can afford to buy 200 lbs of chicken at a time. Why oh why don't the sheep get it? They are not in her league. She is Hollywood all the way. Only the best will do for her. Kate can spend, spend, spend and not have to work, work, work. Kate must stop endorsing everything including her wieners tonight. It's out of control. No one wants to be associated with you Kate. You are poison to any reputable company.
Tamara @ 190, I am totally agreeing with you this time, sistah. LOL.
