The new season of 19 Kids and Counting promises to deliver lots of highs: tree planting, baby names, corn maize, music. And some incredible lows--the miscarriage of the Duggar's twentieth child.
Last night's season premiere featured Ma and Pa Duggar worried when the doctor couldn't find their baby's heartbeat. False alarm--she finally found it. But the doomed pregnancy, according to previews, will be chronicled in its entirety, including the moment when they find out the horrible news, followed by the baby's funeral. American's latest most exploited family has lost all sense of decency and boundaries. Wrote entertainment writer and recapper Richard Lawson, "We like to be horrified by 19 Kids and Counting, but not like that." Lawson went on to write:
"The producers presumably had discussions about how to best handle this situation, and it seems they've chosen the most sensationalistic way rather than the most sensitive. The cruelty alone of the show title ending with '...and Counting' is enough to make you cringe. But to then stage a nervous yet ultimately happy doctor's visit at the end of the first episode, as if the season is looking toward new promise, when of course it's not, feels a bit beyond the pale. It feels like they're trying to trick viewers who aren't aware of what happened, hook 'em in with hope and them slam 'em down with a twist at the end."
In other news, Michelle Duggar told Today this morning, "We would be open to more if God saw fit to bless us with more."

Not to beat a dead horse (or chicken) Kate does say "whole" breasts. She means an entire chicken breast -- 2 sides. That's 8 pieces of what most people call a boneless, skinless breast. If you look at her food saver picture she's freezing whole breasts.
The looks on the boys faces coupled with their disbelieving cries in cupcake-gate broke my heart. Gum-gate showed the real Kate behind the curtain.
While compiling the list let's not forget the free rooms at Disney and the mouse ears (personalized with individual names) on the Disney trip.

I already mentioned the free dress from Kleinfeld's (What Not to Wear) as well as everything related to their sham wedding/vacation at a 5-star resort. I also mentioned all the boots/hats/western wear before their free trip to the dude ranch. But don't forget they also got special treatment at a Harlem Globetrotters game, as well as the hockey match. That's just TWO sporting events - there are many other non-sporting events where they were given privileged access and loot that nobody else could get.
____
Here's my question...If these things you mention were part of the show and TLC paid for them because of the show, then is Kate really getting "freebies?" Yes, it seems so. But, from an IRS standpoint, would these particular "freebies" just be part of what needs to be provided by TLC to create a show? Sorry if I sound redundant. From an IRS perspective, would they not be more interested in the $20 she was charging for autographed pics of the kids? That was CASH ONLY. She must have made a FORTUNE off that little scam.

Kimmie, two other reasons you are banned, is when I tell you you are banned you just keep on posting. And secondly, you are lying about being banned elsewhere. We can SEE how you post, you never capitalize anything and italicize everything and that's exactly how you post elsewhere else you've caused problems. You're lying about it, making this all about you, and there's another reason you are not welcome here.
Re: freebies. Don't know if this qualifies as a freebie, but she certainly dumped those kids off without looking back with Jodi, Beth, the child care center at the church, the filming crew, etc. Never saw someone so desperate to escape her own children.
Admin, please just ban her, her caps key is broken.
What about the room addition for the twins at the E-town house? I know Jon did a lot of the work himself, but he didn't do the framing or the glazing/window installation. Was that (labor/materials/etc.) grifted or did they actually buy the stuff?
How about the school uniforms and two pair of shoes for her during the back-to-school-mommy's-dressed-like-a-whore episode?
Oh, more freebies.
The play truck that came to the house. I forget what it was called.
The bouncy houses for the parties.
The trip to the glacier with the twins.
Use of the park for the birthday party.
That elaborate and way over the top 3rd birthday party for the tups, with the pony rides, etc. (and Kate dissing Nana Janet).
The trip to Memphis, and the stay at that posh hotel with the ducks (forget the name of the place).
The specially made strollers for 6.
The 6 slice toaster.
Headshots for the twins.
Train trip to NYC.
Trip to Chicago to appear on Oprah.
Picturing beating a dead chicken. Thanks for the laugh. :)

yes i have continued to post. i was trying to tell you why you had the wrong person. if you have seen the posts where i was banned from sage's point me to them.
i'm not the only one who doesn't capitalize. did you ever think it could be someone else mocking me or trying to confuse others?
i do not lie. say what you will about my being contrary, not capitalizing etc but i do not lie.
i don't know why my posts are so upsetting. i post as myself, i'm concise, polite and respectful. i don't hide behind a pseudonym or call names or mock. my language is fine and i try really hard to stick to the subject and to post about things i have read and not just rumors. my opinions just differ and that is not a crime.
there's no need to trash me i'll go.
If she's banned, how is she still able to post here? Seriously, just get rid of her.
Kate is 100% boring these days. She has nothing and is exploiting the kids full-time on Twitter.
As far as I am concerned, the freebie vs. grifter is not about the IRS, it's about all the FREE THINGS/TRIPS KG got because she had 8 (count 'em 8) children that she USED as ATMS. Don't even try to argue. She mentions them every time she speaks.
(yes, I exaggerated - but only slightly).

Elise, I don't know how the IRS views those things. I was just adding to the list of freebies. I too am curious as to how that works.

There were lots of "what the???" moments, but the one that irked me the most was when Jon said that she had been nagging about his weight for 3 season and she went off on him for saying "seasons". When he tried to go back to his point--that it was humiliating for him to have her snipe about his weight on-camera, she cut him off and said that he was measuring their lives in season, he lost right there. He had a valid point--she didn't need to be saying those things on camera, but she just cut him off with her little rant. So cold and unfeeling with regards to how she was making him feel. She just could not admit she could ever be wrong. That was just mean.

What she does not get through her thick narcissist skull is that millions of moms do all of those things in one day IN ADDITION to working their full time jobs outside the home. No one is impressed with her abilty to do those things when her full time job is sitting around all week with her thumb in her ass.
Another Kate epic fail.
Has anyone listed the Key West trip or the hair plugs for Jon?
It wasn't the moment when I started to really see what an abuser she is, as there are almost too many of them to count, but my "what the hell?!" Moment was what most remember as the "pull the stick" out incident. For me though it was what happened after. They went to the reunion and the kid's good shoes were ruined by the mud. Just like Jon had been trying to tell her they would be! Made me look closer at the whole super organized mom bull. Not to mention that Jon did everything and she said he did nothing. Not just said it but whined about it to the camera all the time.
TLC is launching a new show, My Crazy Obsession. Maybe one episode could be a gathering of sheeple (with Milo and Paige as the top cheese fanatics) featuring a Kate "Meet and Greet." She wants to get back on television, but I wonder if they would have anything to do with her!
I was thinking back over some of the incredibly stupid statements Kate has made, and I think that "The kids are just playing in front of the camera" is up there for the dumbest. I thought about the kids sitting on the potty being filmed. That's playing? I don't know any children whose favorite playtime activity is to sit on the potty. Imagine if you were on the toilet, constipated, going about your business and there was a crew member with lights and a camera on his shoulder, recording every move? Kids are people, too...they have feelings, even though they may be too young to voice their objections.
Or, the time of vomiting on the fishing boat. Playing? Sure, throwing up is fun, and sleeping in vomit is on every kids Christmas list.
One of the dumbest sheeple statements (and there are SO many) was the recent person who posted that if someone commits a crime but doesn't know that it's a crime, the law can't do anything about it and he won't be charged.
You just have to wonder how these people get through life.

So true, wayward! Single moms and dads do this stuff all day, all week, all month, and all year long, endlessly. Last time I looked, no one was passing out awards for taking freaking care of your kids.

I hope you don't work for the IRS because you're flat out wrong. There is no perks form vs. grifting IRS form. What it turns on is if the "gift" or perk was given in exchange for something. You can bet your bottom dollar a "perk" given to Kate on the show in exchange for advertising or a good word or even so much as a three second shot of the logo (Juicey Juice) is income, taxable, and the IRS wants an accounting of it.
______________________________
If a 1099- misc form (for non-employee compensation) was sent to the G's, then it must be reported as income--a copy is sent to the IRS. If no form, depending on a number of variables, there are several interpretations that can be applied. If TLC paid a corporation, not the individual family members, a 1099 is not required.
Since the IRS is always about 20 years behind on everything, I doubt that there are specific rules written on whether a benefit derived by a reality show participant is taxable income--although, if there ever is, it should be called a 1099-Grift. It is very similar to how child labor laws didn't anticipate that parents would turn their homes into 24 hour studios--they fell between the cracks (something that Kate has a definite knack for) . People are free to interpret tax codes for their own benefit-- the requirement is that it be "reasonable".
Since we really don't know for sure which of the many tangible assets we saw were provided by TLC, its all speculation (not that that should stop us!). I think that tangible assets, like cars, home improvements, appliances etc. who qualify as income because the products have a life and benefit beyond the show.
Consumables, like Juicy Juice---I suppose that if they consumed the product during filming--not taxable. Outside of filming--taxable. People who drink Coke while filming a commercial for Coke, don't have to declare the Coke they drank as income. Some of it was obviously product placement-- probably provided by advertisers to TLC, along with, possibly, additional $$$$ to the company, not Jon and Kate, the persons. Jon and Kate benefitted royally as a byproduct of the show. Maybe some would feel compelled to report it, but most would not. A lot of companies donate to HOM families--it used to be very rare. Before J&K, how many of those families made multi-millions--any? There will probably have to be a whole new section of the IRS code written for the Gosselins.
I remember Kate talking about having enormous legal fees, with an accompanying eye roll. I wondered at time, if they were being audited by the IRS on this issue and were having to pay late fees and penalties

Kate you'd better tweet Roma a little more. Celebrity Apprentice started tonight and oops, you're not on it.
Living here in good 'ol PA, my first WTF moment happened right after the tups were born.
Jon and Kate went public about 3 weeks before the six were born. I remember thinking that it was pretty cool PA was going to have our own set of multiples like the MacCaughey septuplets.
The six were born, all were healthy and a press conference was held. Nothing too out of the ordinary there, except I distinctly remember hubby saying "who does that guy think he is, Jim Bakker?" Jon really laid it on a bit think with the Godspeak, spiritual cliches' and catchphrases.
J&K called a press conference whenever two tups went home. At each one, they would be asked about all the gifts and donations they were receiving and their response was more or less like yes, they did receive alot of things but it didn't even begin to touch what they will need. WTF moment #1. I don't ever remember Bobbi or Kenny MacCaughey being anything less than completely gracious and thankful for all they received, they NEVER implied it wasn't near enough.
I remember the second press conference because both Mady & Cara were crying their eyes out. One of them kept looking and reaching out to someone off camera. Kate kept telling her to shush. Jon was starting in on their "dire financial situation" and his being unemployed. Kate should have let the girls go off camera but she kept them on, I think so everyone was damn straight that they had 8 kids. WTF moment #2
The only thing I remember about the third press conference is that now that all six babies were home, the need for a 14 passenger van was the theme. However, they were sure God would provide this for them quickly. This is when people started to say to each other "did you see those people who had the six babies on TV last night?" They're not too shy about saying exactly what they want and that they want more of what they've already gotten." WTF moment #3
As we all know, a year later the shit hit the fan with Nursegate. Pretty much all Pennsylvanians now hated Kate for her ridiculous "since medical technology allows multiples to be born, society should help support them" comment and her numerous appeals to keep her nurse. She made that comment to two newpapers, one in Pittsburgh and the Hbg. paper. She then demanded a retraction. The Hbg. paper caved, the Pittsburgh paper refused as they allegedly had her interview recorded.
A year after that is when they had had the first TLC special. I remember thinking to myself "why won't they just GO AWAY, for the love of God just go raise your kids and GO AWAY" WTF moment #4
That was six years ago and she still won't GO AWAY. Hollywood slammed the door on her but it didn't latch. She keeps desperately pushing on the other side of the door, trying to keep it open.
Don't Feed the Trolls, exactly. Kimmie got a million chances here in the past and was finally banned. She is one of only two people here to ever get banned and it should be enforced.
And though I am the first to say it's not a thesis and COULDN'T care less if people are annoyed by various mistakes, a minimum amount of effort is appreciated here, which includes periods and capital letters. It shows respect for people's eyes. When people ask people to please do something very basic like capitalize the first letter of your sentence and they refuse to do that, I can only interpret that as disrespect.
It doesn't really matter if you get a 1099 or not, although I bet Kate got a few of those. You still need to report income that is income. Although no 1099 makes it harder to catch you.
****
Since the IRS is always about 20 years behind on everything, I doubt that there are specific rules written on whether a benefit derived by a reality show participant is taxable income
***
They don't need a specific rule for reality tv contestants. If you get something in exchange for something else, it's income and needs to be reported whether the giver bothered to give you a 1099 or not. It doesn't matter who you are or how you got it. It matters if it was given as "payment" for advertising, etc.
This is exactly the kind of situation that gets audited the most, 1099s and other "questionable" incomes.
I will make it very simple for Kate.
Say Juicy Juice wants you to put their drink on your show. They will give you a year's supply of Juicy Juice in return. If they didn't give you a year's supply, would you expect cash payment for the advertising you are giving them? If you answered YES, ding ding ding guess what it's INCOME! And if it's income, it's taxable!
Milo tweeted:
U know... I will know... I have arrived in ur mind...when the "u know what" gets put on the "Kate 2do" #LIST! LOL
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
Good gawd. Another Brownie.
Admin--
I agree--they should declare ALL monetary benefits as income. If there is a 1099, every accountant would include it in taxable income. However, there are legitimate related deductions that can be made to offset the income--i.e. business use of home and related expenses. The grey area I was talking about is in the accounting, not in ethics--The fact is that accountants make millions exploiting the many loopholes that exist in the IRS code. The standard is that the accounting has to be consistent and reasonable. If that is not a grey area, I don't kniow what is!
I remember my tax law professor saying there is tax avoidance, and then there is tax evasion. The first one is legal, the second isn't.
Kate should take deductions she is eligible for just like anyone would. But if she's just pretending that all these freebies are just freebies when they are not, one of these days it will catch up. Who knows maybe she is doing everything on the up and up, but let's look at history. LaFair for one, how she just kept telling herself over and over she didn't have therapy and didn't owe anything, and she believed it so much that LaFair finally gave up. But I can promise her she won't be able to wear down the IRS until they give up too if they ever audit her. Even the IRS has said gift suites aren't "gifts" anymore. They are cracking down on Paypal, ebay, all this stuff people used to get away with. Things like this catch up.
I forgot does Kate have any kind of production company or company at all? If she were smart she would incorporate which offers a lot more tax shelters. There are just so many things she could have done that would put her in a better financial position, it's almost heartbreaking to watch only because it's the children's money being so grossly mismanaged.
I can only speculate, but knowing Kate, she will report the bear minimum to the IRS and think she can just play dumb later when they try to throw her in jail. They did it to the winner of Survivor no bones about it.
Wayward thanks for that run down. It's interesting how the circle of people they tried to con got wider and wider. First locals, then Pennsylvanians, then viewers of the show, then little old church ladies, then a mass audience with DWTS, now everyone on Twitter. One by one each layer has been tapped and most people in each layer eventually realized they were dealing with a snake oil salesman. What a saga.
J&K had a corporation and Jon had his own corporation also (if I remember correctly, Jon's was set up in CA). Both were named in TLC's lawsuit. I would think Kart is still incorporated, but don't know if Jon has anything left after Kart, TLC, and his lawyers were finished with him.
Not to change the subject, but does anyone have any idea of how many people (sheeple) are going on her cruise at this point?
It's bad enough she is getting a free cruise and using the twins, but of course, Kate needed to push it and require a ridiculous percentage/fee off each passenger who booked the cruise for her "events." She's not a very good business woman, with her high demands at at time when she has nothing on the horizon.
If she was smart, she would reduce the fee, to at least try to keep some of her small fan base intact.
The outcome of this cruise should be very interesting. Now back to her epic grifting...
I wonder if TLC paid for their passports? I also bet they paid for her trip to IKEA with Beth because it was filmed. When the first house was remodeled they received a new bedroom suite. She stated that in a book or on the show. Lest we forget the original duet washers that they left at the Elizabeth town house. I think we should make a list of what this woman hasn't received. It would be a heck of a lot shorter!
Oh man, her twittering is sooooo boring. Who cares what she cooks, when she gets up, goes to bed, etc. and of course, now the world knows the kids have ortho appointment today. Pap pictures will pop up. So transparent.
Kart hasn't received a TLC paycheck for the past several months. I'm putting that first on Kart's list of what she hasn't received, along with any current or future television hosting jobs, dating and cooking shows. She's not receiving $1million book deals either. Those days are long gone.
Just to add to the grift list. Has anyone mentioned the piano that was given to one of the twins and Khate left in the old house? What about the new stove she got at the old house. Remember when theirs stopped working?
WoW, over 1,000 posts. I am coming in late here, but here are some other items for the grift list. Maybe some were mentioned already.

Gosselin8, re cruise, based solely on Twitter I can't see that she has gained more than the 7-8 participants she had logged a few weeks back who have confirmed they are paying the "Kate rate." This includes 3 families who together total something like 16-17 paying customers. If there are more than that, they aren't saying so on Twitter. Anyone who thought she was going to get close 200 was seriously delusional.
pink scooter that she 'donated' to RMDH
Electric cars for the kids
Dog - I doubt they paid for Shoka and Nala or perhaps even their food and vet care/training for quite a while
What Kate and her few followers don't get and might not ever get is that any other divorced mom of EIGHT kids aged 11 and under wouldn't have the TIME to tweet all day long and share all the minutiae of their lives.
For whoever said way up there that we're never happy with what she says about the kids: I would MUCH prefer that she shut up about the kids completely and for once in their lives give them some semblance of privacy, something they've never had. Don't tell us where their orthodontist is, don't tell us you are leaving for a bus pickup, don't make it OBVIOUS that either you left a bunch of kids home alone or you have paid help, how about she doesn't do any of that? Because that would be a refreshing change.
But she's been pimping those kids out since before they were born and it worked well for her financially before. She probably figures it's bound to again. I guess she's figured out she's no draw on her own.
Dallas lady, could not agree more. Kate should leave the kids out of her damn tweets. No one wants to know what they're eating or if they're on antibiotics or if she paid $3.99 for their shirts. She must embarrass them with her lack of boundaries, shameless/lame grifting, and bragging. And if Kate thinks for a hot second that the twins and their peers don't read her stupid tweets, she's wrong.
And of those families that are going on the cruise, did just the mom and maybe a daughter pay extra for the Kate part of it and the rest of the family paid the normal rate? I remember a lot of discussion about whether you could bring your whole family but only have one or two members pay to participate in Kate's things. The others won't be able to go to her events of course.
now the world knows the kids have ortho appointment today.

Remember when I said some creep could park at the ortho and wait for them and I was poo-pooed because we didn't know what day they're going? Well, now we do.
We know the appointment is today, we know where the office is, we even know the name of the ortho. She ...is....putting...these....kids....in....DANGER.

My guilty pleasure. At least no kids get exploited. I noticed that while they did get some big names, there were also a good number of D lister has beens on the level of Kate. Kate COULD have fit in on their level, now why do you suppose she wasn't asked?? Hmm!
Yes I remember now Jon and Kate had a corporation. What do they put as their purpose in the bylaws, to exploit their kids? That was a way to skip out on probably hundreds of thousands of taxes.
the time I started questioning Kate's parenting abilities was when she let the cameras capture her taking pictures of the kids poop and potty training. Yes I get it that moms everywhere encourage and motivate their kids in their toilet training with wild enthusiasm, but taking pictures and having it captured on TV would only serve to embarrass and humiliate the kids later on. What mother would not know that?
In looking for more info on celebs getting in hot water for freebies, I found this really old article from 1990 about Nancy Reagan's IRS investigation over her freebie clothing, gym equipment, hair and other freebies. Sounds so familiar!
Quote from article: "According to federal tax laws, items of value received by the Reagans were taxable if the donor intended to benefit financially."
Nancy Reagan's Fancy Freebies May Cost the Former First Couple a Pretty Penny in Back TaxesBy Mary H.J. Farrell, Sue Carswell, Katy Kelly, Eleanor Hoover
Their own tastes run to plain dark suits, and they probably can't tell a Geoffrey Beene from an L.L. Bean, but a team of Internal Revenue Service tax agents labors deep in the National Archives, poring over thousands of photographs, examining every button and bow on Nancy Reagan's White House wardrobe. Just how many designer dresses did she "borrow" during her eight-year tenure? When the IRS finds out, it just might slap the former first couple with some hefty fines.
That would suit M. Chris Blazakis. A former fashion executive who has spent the past two years investigating Nancy's dress-capades for a book he is writing on improprieties in the Reagan Administration, Blazakis, 36, went to the IRS in January 1989. "They missed this for eight years," says Blazakis, who has provided the IRS with detailed information about Nancy's clothing and accessories. If the IRS decides the finery—valued at well in excess of a million dollars—is taxable, it could really put Nancy in the red. In addition, the designers who supplied her with the dresses—including Galanos, Adolfo and Bill Blass—may be implicated in the IRS mess.
According to federal tax laws, items of value received by the Reagans were taxable if the donor intended to benefit financially. "People in the fashion industry are very aware of the value of having someone of high visibility wear their designs," says Blazakis. "As First Lady, Mrs. Reagan was among the most visible women in the nation."
Although Nancy was widely criticized for her designer freebies during her White House years, this is the first time the IRS has become involved. When she was criticized for her dress "borrowing" habit in 1982 and warned by the White House counsel, she swore she would stop. But six years later she was still donning the designer duds and failing to list them on the Reagans' financial-disclosure report. "I honestly never expected that [borrowing designer clothes] would be seen as a problem," she writes in her autobiography, My Turn. "None of the clothes were given to me to keep."
No matter, says Blazakis, who was executive vice president for Galanos Originals, one of Nancy's favorite designers, from 1982 to 1985. The dresses were of little value to anyone else. "We're talking about couture," he says. "These things were made specifically for her. She's a size 4, and her proportions are peculiar."
Although Nancy insisted that the dresses were "borrowed," a former assistant says that she kept most of them until October 1988, when TIME magazine revealed that she had broken her public promise to stop the practice. After TIME tattled, the assistant says, Nancy began having her staff return the dresses on the sly.
Pt 2:
In My Turn, Nancy, the only First Lady in recent history to take advantage of such largess, argues that wearing the clothes she accepted from American designers was good for the fashion industry. "That's not a legal defense, that's a public-relations defense," says Stanley Brand, a former congressional counsel who helped write the 1978 Ethics in Government Act. "You are dealing with elected officials who are controlled by a series of laws and rules that bar or limit the kinds of things they can receive from outsiders."
The designer clothing may be only part of the story. According to Reagan White House sources, the services of Nancy's hairdresser, Julius Bengtsson, were provided free during her tenure through a special arrangement with Clairol—which made the hair color she used—and cost the company more than $100,000. Exercise equipment valued at $4,000 or more was installed in the Reagan's private quarters free of charge in 1980 and returned in 1988, according to White House sources.
"It amazes me that it has taken a year for this to surface," says Brand of the IRS investigation. "This stuff rolled off [Reagan] while he was in office. Now people are saying, 'Wait a minute.' "

Every one don't miss KG on Dr. Drew tomorrow.
I bet she'll be tweeting all day about her self and so will her butt kisser's.
Chef I thought Dr. Drew was the 22nd did it change?
Apparently, from her awful tweets, she has decided her 'new' role is Bestest Mom Ever. Welcome to the real world K8, just a step and some years behind. Guess there are no gigs, no trips on the horizon, she's not talking about her 'work', her desk or all her important papers. Well, good, I guess 'cept for the pesky details about paying the bills and supporting the lifestyle. Me, just happy to see her boring and irrelevant. Wish she would stop tweeting the details.
Admin, you are correct. There is a family of 7 where only 2 are buying the Kate package, and one of 5 with 2 signing up for Kate. I honestly don't believe there could be more than 10 signed up to pay the Kate rate at this point. There are a number of people (incl. the infamous miloandjack) who have been on the fence from the very beginning. Maybe the hope is that these people will eventually confirm. But even these "strongly motivated" (and presumably financially able) holdouts don't number more than a dozen. I wonder at what point they pull the plug and whether Kate has to deliver a minimum number in order for her, the twins, the inevitable "helpers," and, of course, Steve to travel for free, never mind any cash income she may have been hoping for.
I would think if people are still on the fence at this point they aren't going to go through with it. I assume they are on the fence for financial reasons. May is going to come up awfully quick where they will owe the full amount. Things will come up, like a leaky roof, a plumbing problem, a medical bill, and if money is already tight there goes the cruise coin jar.
Admin CA is my secret vice also. I don't think Kate would make it on the show even if she were to get on. I heard Lisa L on Howard Stern and she said that they really do put in very long days and work hard. She also said that the boardrooms are really intense. Nope, from what she said Kate wouldn't be able to cut it and no one would care about her 8 (count thm 8) kids because the celebrities are in it to win money for their charities.

I really thought that Kate would wrangle in a lot off kookaid-drinkers but I'm rethinking that one. There's been no chatter to speak of, even on Kate's Twitter account.
I wonder if Baby Momma is going. It would seem to be the dream vacation for a fan.

Yes I've heard the shooting schedule is insane, like 26 days or something for 13 episodes. You just go back to back to back until you fall over from exhaustion. Kate would never withstand it.
You know what I think is so fascinating about CA? You give celebs hard work to do that usually requires smarts, and you get to see how those celebs really react. You get to see who is really a nice person and who is not. Who is really a hard worker and who is lazy. Who is narcissistic and who is genuine and kind. And you always get those total a-hole surprises like Dionne Warwick last season. Or, over the top good-hearted beautiful people you didn't realize really existed in the celeb world like Marlee Matlin. I think it's one of the most genius reality shows to hit the screen. I don't think Trump even does regular Apprentice anymore since the celeb one is just so good.
It actually is the "realest" of reality shows.
I'm catching up on a recap, should post today I hope!
Admin, re: the ortho appointment - we all know the reasons that Kate put out that information was so 1) any interested paps could show up and take her pic doing "mom" things and 2) any interested fans could show up to make her feel relevant. You're right, she isn't thinking about the potential consequences of her actions. Hopefully, no one takes her bait except Milo or cereal lady (or is Milo the cereal lady? I forget). And when she meets these "die hard" fans, I hope it's a wake up call and she'll stop tweeting her daily errand itinerary. Probably won't make a difference but one can hope.
I truly think Kate is feeling the lack of interest in her and Ms. G is not pleased.
I remember BM commenting somewhere that she is already booked for a Disney cruise this year, and so she won't be cruising with Katie.
I remember BM commenting somewhere that she is already booked for a Disney cruise this year, and so she won't be cruising with Katie.
&&&&
BM is actually the most rational of Kate fans. I'm not surprised at all she isn't going since she has half a brain. I don't even lump her in with the crazies. I kind of like her LOL. Unless I missed it, she doesn't "hate" the haters, she doesn't try to out people, she just does her thing, and even she is kind of fading away the less and less relevant Kate gets. I never got the "crazy" vibe from her. She seems rather normal, if not just a bit immature.
This fan has tweeted Kate at least 5 times regarding her son's birthday, and Kate has not replied to her. I saw where Kate retweeted a birthday greeting to another fan yesterday, but not this one. But she hasn't stopped trying-
@Kateplusmy8 Well my son geoffrey had a great 13 bday, can we get a BELATED SHOUT?
Gift, I thought BM had cancelled her Disney cruise so she could do the Kate cruise. I could be mistaken.
I really thought that Kate would wrangle in a lot off kookaid-drinkers but I'm rethinking that one. There's been no chatter to speak of, even on Kate's Twitter account.
&&&
I think she might see several dozen if the cruise were a small one, a three or four day one. She should have started small with a baby cruise to gauge interest and get more people to come.
The fact of the matter is we now know for sure the demographic of Koolaid drinkers. And it's people that cannot afford cruises like this. I'm not making fun of them whatsoever, but you have to know your demographic. Kate spent five years preaching to the stay at home moms, one-income families about how much she is struggling. What did she THINK her demographic was after all that, millionaires??? People who are not struggling get uncomfortable with that. People who are struggling (and not rational) may relate. Of course her demographic doesn't have money. This is as plain as day even before the cruise, but now it's confirmed.
Someone like say Paula Deen probably could preach to a little higher income demographic, since the demographics of Food Network isn't all one-income families. It's a lot of professionals, two-incomes, etc.
Maybe Kate's not on Celebrity Apprentice because she couldn't come up with a charity.
If she spent half as long ummm ummming about what her charity could be for CA as she has for the cruise, if I were Donald Trump I would cut her off just like that.

the time I started questioning Kate's parenting abilities was when she let the cameras capture her taking pictures of the kids poop and potty training. Yes I get it that moms everywhere encourage and motivate their kids in their toilet training with wild enthusiasm, but taking pictures and having it captured on TV would only serve to embarrass and humiliate the kids later on. What mother would not know that?
_____________________________________________
One of my sons had "Teen Mom" on a couple weeks ago. One of the moms was giving her son a bath. He was in a tub full of suds that almost covered his chest. When it was time to get him out she stood up, looked at the camera and shut the bathroom door. The shot then resumed with the baby on her bed and having his diaper already on. She lovingly put lotion on him and dressed him. Now yes, these kids have their babies on TV and MTV's motive for filming this is 99.9% for the drama and only .01% to educate young people. But it occured to me that this 18 yr. old showed more concern for her son's modesty and more tenderness for him in this one scene than Kate ever showed her 8 children on J&K+8 and K+8 combined.
In other "Teen Mom" news, it looks like Kate has a rival in the grift game. This one rented a low-income house by claiming she made less than $10,000 a year when in reality, (pun intended) she made $230,000 in 2010. This is the same girl who was arrested for hitting her boyfriend. Kate used to hit Jon on TV too, but no one ever came to arrest her.
Amber scam
Kate has posted the Menu Monday recipe for the Italian meatball subs she made this weekend on her website, complete with pictures taken by Cara, Mady & Hanna of her making them. At least she gave credit this time to the cookbook she took the recipe from.
I guess the girls are now her in-house paps to help keep her relevant. So sad.
Now the kids are working for Kate's blog, taking photos for it?
Where is their salary?
The photo of Kate is taken looking DOWN on her, was Mady on a stool or was that really taken by Steve?

Kate has not chosen a charity yet? You would think that with the existance of so many charities, it would be EASY to choose one:
Ronald McDonald House?
Make A Wish?
Women's shelters?
UNICEF?
St. Jude?
Red Cross?
Animal Shelters?
Cancer research?
Save The Children?
etc...
Pick one, Kate! Commit already. This should be automatic. A no-brainer for a person that has been helped by so many.
Shameful.

Nope! This IS a no brainer. What about Second Harvest? I'm doing the recap now for that episode. They spent days there. Second Harvest, it's a no brainer. Come on Kate!
Speaking of Celebrity Apprentice, I loved when Marlee Matlin signed "it's a no brainer!" I still sign that sometimes. Hehe.

-------------------------
Admin. I know I had told you that I would find examples of people correcting grammer and spelling. I had said that this had happened to me often. You posted back that you wanted examples and that that did not happen here. Your statement above is one example, especially capping couldn't. That was an outright slapin the face.
You may not like Kimmie, but when you attack the style of writing and not how she comments, you attack, indirectly, me.
I am slightly dislexic and I am the worst speller in the world. I dropped out of school then went back to get my deploma about ten years later. I went from straight f's to straight a's in night school. I aced every spelling test given to me yet I to this day have great difficaltly spelling. Short term memory allowed me to ace the test but long term they don't stay with me.
I deal with great anxiety when I post because I know my grammar and style will never match any higher educated people like those here. When I deceded to post I did so hoping those who had a higher education, would have a higher maturity level because of their education. Bad asumption on my part.
My desire is to really, really let go here but I will refrain. I meant to inform not attack. It hurts and feels demeaning. When you attack one, how do I know you wont attack me.
Here is one example administrator. Well, two, the COULDN'T correction was one. You told me you didn't see it happen here and I said, believe me it happens. Please disagree with the content and not how it's written.
Sorry for bad spelling I to upset to correct it.
nj
NJ, I'm going to have to disagree you were slapped in the face. This wasnt about you whatsoever. We have a long history with Kimmie that was before you were ever here. I'm not dyslexic but I do have some issues myself that I care not to talk about, I'm not unable to relate.
It wasn't an attack on Kimmie. It was a request she please do something basic. Capitalization is not a difficult thing to do, it is not nitpicky. Just like I wouldn't want someone here typing all in caps. It's difficult to read and has nothing to do with trashing someone not very good at grammar and spelling.
The person explaining about couldn't care less did so in a kind and respectful manner and didn't attack anyone. Personally I don't care and there are a lot more important mistakes that happen out there, but if they can do it without being a jerk, fine. I made the mistake myself. I think the reason people make that mistake is because when you say couldn't care LESS, it sounds like a double negative to your ears. Until you think about the meaning.
Anyway, NJ I don't have a problem with your spelling or grammar at all, so if someone says something, just ignore them, okay? I don't mean this to sound controlling, but at the end of the day I have the final call on what I allow here, since it's my blog, and I'm allowing your posts, okay?
nj said...

nj, I agree with this. I hope you continue to post here, because you do have good contributions!
I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday Monday. It's Louis Riel Day here and we are headed out to enjoy the ice trail down the river (I'm sure it will be crazy busy).
NJ also FYI, when that person said something about couldn't care less, guess what, they said so right after i made the mistake. It was directed to me, clearly. I didn't take it personally and I have no doubt it wasn't meant to be personal, just helpful. One thing I've learned having learning issues is that most people genuinely want to help and are not trying to act better than you just because they're trying to help. I spent a lot of years getting pissed off about it until I realized teachers, parents, other students, etc. were helping me actually by persisting.
But in the future, it's not usually necessary to correct people here. It is off topic, to say the least. And to some, very annoying. Moms correct you, not other bloggers. Some people are more sensitive than others, so, be sensitive I guess.

I do too, however, I will enforce bare MINIMUM standards here. Like you need to post in English, you need to not use caps or italics. You need to capitalize at the end of sentence and put some periods in now and again. You need to type words out fully. Instead of, wnt to str to pk up J, write Went to store to pick up juice. People usually do this.
This has nothing to do with me caring about your grammar and spelling, and everything to do with me caring about a blog that is EASY to READ on the EYES. I'm trying to save your eyes, people. LOL. People do not read blogs that look like text messages.
Beginning of sentence, lol, not end!
nj, I hate that you're upset. Many of us really, really enjoy your posts! Don't beat yourself up! Nobody is perfect; try not to stress. Your input is important.
Re: Menu Monday. She uses 1.5 pounds of meat for meatballs for 8 kids? I looked to see if she doubled the recipe as she claimed her own modifications (I made my own rolls, YAY!). Nope. Then I saw the pictures. 16 meatballs. Then a picture of a tiny sandwich on a dinner roll with a side of spinach. In a slotted plate, even though they're 7. (At least it's not a paper plate, but it is plastic.) She is just too dumb to realize that every time she posts like this, the backlash is fierce for several reasons and mainly because they eat so little. 16 meatballs and no extras? No seconds, for sure!
Agree that once again, the childrens' portions are meager. I wonder if the kids are able to cut their own food at this point.
The fact of the matter is we now know for sure the demographic of Koolaid drinkers. And it's people that cannot afford cruises like this. I'm not making fun of them whatsoever, but you have to know your demographic
+++++++++++++++++++
Here's a question -- WHY is this Kate's demographic? Why is it that she appeals to the less intelligent, lower income women? We've seen on Twitter that some of them are barely literate and certainly not highly educated members of society. I'm not referring to those who are off their rockers with obsession, but rather the all-encompassing group that appears to want what Kate has, will never get it, and so they live their lives through her, declaring that she is the best parent on the planet.
From where they come from, why is she a role model? What do they see in her? Is it because anything is better than what they have, and thus, Kate represents the idealism that they could never attain?
Admin. Would you consider a Duggar post on Michelle's lessons for being a perfect wife.?
I cannot believe the girls are being raised this way.
It's all over the internet today regarding on her tips..

nj, the fact that you went back to school 10 years after dropping out, means a great deal.
Congratulations on your success!
P.S. there are many successful and famous people that grew up with learning difficulties:
-Albert Einstein
-Thomas Edison
-Leonardo Da Vinci
-Pablo Picasso
-Winston Churchill
-Mozart
etc...
Yet, all these people made their mark in history because of their strengths- hmmmmm....
Be proud of yourself :o)

Wayward I had completey forgot to think about the first year or so of this travisty, before TLC even entered (stage right haha). That would be a good post Admin, the pre-TLC stuff.
************************************************
Excellent, wayward.
Your comment bears repeating.
A must read for the folks, and sheeple that are unfamiliar with "Gosselin History 101".
Admin, thank you for your explanation. I still don't see the necessity for correcting those issues. I do accept your explanation and it is your blog. (just for a little laugh that only I know, that last "is", came out si and just now "out" came out otu, so frustrating.)lol.
I guess I see it different. I see it as if, if a person is fat do you tell them they are. If a persons dress style is different, do you tell them they have no style. (leave Kate out, she's different.) Snark! I think you get what I'm trying to say. Yes if they are a close friend or family member. Even then, most take care and patience before doing so. I do agree that "the couldn't care less" correction was very respectful and I used it as an example, not a reprimand. I just saw it as unnecessary.
You have already covered it though in your explination. I just wanted to give an example of my thought on it without any anger behind it. Thank you for your explanation. Nice way to disagree without belittling me for my thought. Thank you.
One more thing. About Kimmie, I wasn't defending any rude comments. Wrong is wrong.
nj
New post! Thanks BM for the tip.
Go Las Vegas parents!
NJ I agree you shouldn't be corrected here which is why I ask people not to. In a blog with hundreds of comments on each post, not everyone will see that request and even if people did some will disregard it. That's blogging, you take the good with the bad.
But asking people to do simple things like capitalize and not use italics is not in any way similar to telling a fat person they are fat. That is more like asking someone who is blocking a doorway if they wouldn't mind moving so you can pass--common courtesy. There's a difference.
Meatball sub with a side of mushy spinach served up on green plastic picnic plate. Yum. What's for dessert warden?
Kate's food combinations are a puzzling. A finger-food veggie like brocolli or carrot sticks with a dip would be a better choice to have with a sub. Soggy spinach? No thanks.
I just posted in 87 concerning sheeple demographics. One just tweeted:
michellebedfor1
@EmeraldCityJazz @ashymama2 @Kateplusmy8 your jealous of her youd do the same in her position
+++++++++++++++++
I guess here we have the answer. They want to be her and would do exactly as Kate has done -- exploited the children, grifted, and used her children as marketable commodities.
I read Michelle's tips on happy marriage. While frightening, it doesn't really have anything to do with using reality t.v. to exploit her kids. That's the wife she always was. Just like they would have had a ton of kids show or no show.
I don't feel comfortable doing posts on why I disagree with their religion. Their religions will still be their religion when the reality TV is long gone.
But I'm fine with doing posts on why I disagree with how they are exploiting their kids--and if their religion bleeds into that sometimes that may happen.
I think we have to be careful to compartmentalize. Someone's lifestyle choices they have a right to make, versus someone using fame, fortune, cameras to make certain lifestyle choices I don't believe they necessarily have a right to make. I understand the line is often very blurry.
Ugh, Kate does not know how to present food attractively. The subs could taste ok, but on the prison cafeteria trays with the glop of spinach...no thanks. Very small 'subs.'
Hannah must have got better quickly to help- didn't she have a late dr appt and then went to get her prescription? Now she's 'all good?" Looks like she's growing her hair out long again the way Kate likes it...

The older ones relate to the story. They feel that their ex left them in the "starter" house with the kids to raise on their own, didn't pay enough support and then moved on to a nice house with a young girl for a mate.
Katie, however moved on from the starter house, got the money to raise the kids and raked that bastard Jon over the coals when he started running around with the young girls.
I don't spend much time obsessing over sheeple postings, but I have observed, through this blog that sheeple musing about Jon has no basis in reality. They're twisting this story into their own version of their lives. They wanted their lives to end up like this. They want the mansion, the money, the private schools, the make over. Most importantly they want that no good man who left them to suffer and suffer publicly, privately and to all eternity.
The young ones just want to be famous and popular and have some type of television career. I can't explain why they admire Katie over the Kardashians or Snookie. Maybe their drawn to the mommy thing.
Kate really made me cringe when she said something on an early, early show or maybe a special, to Jon. The babies were coming home two at a time and she and Jon were sitting feeding the babies late at night.
There were volunteers all over the house, coming and going to help them and she said to him,"I bet we could do this by ourselves, we've been looking after the feedings so far, let's try." Words to that effect.
They were only feeding a bottle and she made it sound like the helpers were doing the minimum work.It would be nice to have our house to ourselves.I couldn't believe she could be so ungrateful and in front of the helpers. She wanted all the glory, none of the work.I knew then, we were dealing with a live one.
Who would be so nasty to these people giving up their time and being away from their families to help this stupid, grifting cow?I realized then she was a liar and some people would believe her, when it aired.
Kate could not even let her babies be in the spotlight, she made it all about her, even then. This should have been when Jon put his big boy pants on and went back to work, not quit.I have always believed that the "lightbulb moment" for their grifting lifestyle happened right here. They both saw how much people would do for them for nothing and they liked the attention and freebies.
It takes a really black, nasty, selfish soul to dream up schemes to grift your precious, healthy newborns out for money and fame. Kate was so lucky to even have had all safe, healthy births.
The odds are so astronomical for things to go wrong and she never appeared thankful to God or all the nursing staff and doctors, or the many volunteers.Jon bonded with the babies and was sucked in by Kate's big plans, still in the wrong, but not evil like her.
She had no clue how much was done for her while she slept and gave orders and it showed.I decided then to keep an eye on her to see how she treated those around her,as if feeding the babies was the worst job to do.Still shaking my head at the almighty gall she has.
Sorry this is so long, just got home from hospital and think I may be a little under the influence of the happy drugs.Just reread this and yup, I am. Please forgive my ramblings; there is a thought in there somewhere.
The fact of the matter is we now know for sure the demographic of Koolaid drinkers. And it's people that cannot afford cruises like this.
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
How is this fact?
How could Hannah be better already? Unless maybe she didn't really have ear infections.I know, it was the Reality show kind, all over after the lights go down and cameras are off. There is no antibiotic in the world that works so fast, or ear gtts.Ear infections are miserable, especially double ear.
Of course her kids probably get the non-painful kind that disappear when Kate says so, like magic. Can't be from her non- nursing or mothering skills. She ran 10 miles, when?
It's funny about Hannah....it was also odd she felt up to helping with dinner....it was also too bad all the kids had to go to school on a holiday for a play rehearsal or maybe they do have class today? I wonder if H went and stayed, if so? Not my business but she makes all comings and goings public knowledge...
and another two freebies: remember the hair product Kate kept displaying ( for tangles) as she did the girls' hair on the kitchen counter -yuk (yet she has on a plastic glove for mixing her meat balls !!) The cupboard was FULL of this brand among other fee products...and then Kate went shopping at Ann Taylor in K +8 once iirc..
btw can we assume things were free if the venue was on TV and the names not blurred out ( like restaurants, stores, services) lol I had insomnia last night and was counting freebies to try to drift off..
Enlighten me, our assessment of Kate's demographic is a reasonable inference based on the measly number of women who have been able to financially go on the cruise? Does that satisfy you.
Kate's fans themselves keep telling her over and over they cannot afford cruises like this. It makes sense, her demographic is stay at home moms and shut ins and teens. It's just logical, but you can choose to believe her demographic is working mothers who net 150,000 a year, that's fine. Though I just don't see the evidence of that.
Hey Jude she has always been very ungrateful about her helpers. She even claimed once they were all alone! I forgot where but I remember thinking W..T...F! On no planet were you alone without help! EVER!
Tweet from Kate"just did salad& may do another run later...10 yesterday and I'm not sure Im in the mood 2day but weathr is amaz!"
As another poster pointed out a few days ago, why is 'runner' Kate always so reluctant to go?? I exercise daily and have for decades- I love the adrenalin rush and the results of a healthy body and mind...and idk about you guys, but I hate when people say they 'do' food !! Grr!
My last post on subject of IRS. If, as "URL" said, they used corporations, then all money paid to them probably went to the corporation and they took a salary and then, probably some distributions. Therefore, nothing would be reported on a 1099. Audit rates are much lower on corporations for the simple reason that it is much easier to hide, and there is usually an accountant. While they can be 'creative', accountants don't just make stuff up on tax returns--there is a basis. They don't ignore income if there is a bookkeeping transaction--it is reported. Given the low rate of audit for corporations and absolutely no transactional data in company books, ex a deposit of $$ from Juicy Juice in the checking account, the accountant will not include it in income--as long as they are not aware of it! Accountants aren't going to risk the damage to their reputation, fraud charges and jail for Kate Gosselin. She is not the Mafia, for God's sake. Doesn't mean she won't, someday, be on the ropes for the freebies--just isn't likely. If she goes a few years without reported income and has large deductions for, say, her house, she might be selected for a lifestyle audit. In this case, proof has to be shown as to how a big lifestyle is being maintained on a much smaller income. Is it wrong and unfair that she will probably get away with all of this undeclared income-no doubt!
Nj --I hope that you will continue to post here. I also have learning disabilities, as do 2 of my three children. I am sure that there is no one on this blog that would claim to be perfect. We all have our strength and weaknesses --some are more obvious than others.
I hope that you are proud of your achievements! Posting on a blog will be more challenging for you, because of specific difficulties that come into play. this blog can be an opportunity for you to improve your written communication, while sharing your excellent observations. The following is something that I wrote, but never posted--I wrote it in response to one of your earlier posts. As you will see, I expressed, several weeks ago, exactly what you and others have said, today. It is human nature to feel "different" and self-conscious when you have a disability. I personally value your contributions and share your concerns.
what I wrote:
"Blogs have social rules, just like real life. In school, at work, in families and in groups of friends, it always seems that some people get away with a little more or get more recognition. But, mostly, they have just been around longer, know each other longer and, based on some previous experiences, are suspicious of anyone who is new.
On this blog, I have been soundly spanked and accused by several posters of smelling like a particular troll who posts on several sites. As I posted at the time, I equate that kind of behavior to the way adult dogs teach wayward puppies manners when they cross the line-they nudge and bare their teeth a little--may even give a little nip on the side.
Some posters spoke up in my defense and encouraged me to keep posting, which I really appreciated. I considered stopping writing posts or changing my screen name. But, in the end, I decided to push through it, make amends as best I could and try to choose my words more carefully. I think people should be a little more patient with new posters and point out what is objectionable in a respectful way instead of branding them as a sheeple or troll. Posting for the purpose of challenging Admin in a hostile way is, under any circumstances, unacceptable. It is her personal blog and she can run it how she pleases. I hope that some of those who automatically slap the sheeple or troll label on new posters will reconsider. If new posters, with fresh ideas and points of view are routinely dismissed or criticized, this blog will suffocate itself and die.
I try to choose my words carefully, but, I can't ever predict what might set someone off or be misunderstood. In the end, everyone has a single voice and, as long as Admin's rules are respected, each of us is entitled to express it. "
