Kate's Cruise promises tea time

James Cameron went to the bottom of the ocean yesterday. And Cindy Cardella, super-cruiser and Kate's PR person for the cruise, went to the bottom of the barrel.

In addition to the (lame) activities Alice Travel promises cruise-goers with Kate, Cindy is now sending e-mails around promising anyone who signs up they will be able to be able "to sit, have a cup of tea and get to know her.  Kate would love to meet her fans." Oh, and, oopsie daisy, Cindy is forgetting to BCC her emails, exposing twenty-six potential clients' names and e-mail addresses to each other. Good one, Cindy. Just like last week when she tweeted a potential client's last name.

So, would tea time with Kate and fans be enough to draw you in?

Early AM of a sleepless night. I am all caught up. Great posts. Dallas Lady, I loved the sunflower house story. I enjoyed all the gardening stories.

You are all entertaining. Please, I would love more posts from Kate's Cleaning Lady -- you are hilarious.

Have a great day, all!

koopdedoo said... 4

DebbieDowner4 - would the cost of the Long Island Iced Tea be included in the cruise package, or would be be paying a la carte for that? (and, if included, what serving size is provided?)

WHO baked the cake - Shoka? And we just found out one of the kiddos is a little dyslexic? TMI Khate!

barbee said... 5

Now she wants to wreck another of MY fav 'traditions', tea time? I would barf in my elegant china tea cup if she was sitting at a table with me.
The disgust I feel for this person gives me NO wiggle room for any other feelings for or about her. Her entitlement and greed far surpass anything I have ever seen in a dozen people put together.
YUK, just YUK!!!!!! !!
ex., got 10/10 ratings for all eight (count 'em, 8) of her kids, well, except for C&M (as usual, they don't count unless she NEEDS the higher number). And as far as her only posting menus the kids liked...as they are just kids, why does it matter if all of THEM liked a meal? That doesn't make a meal bad because a couple of HER kids didn't like it. NOTE to HER: your kids are special in YOUR eyes only, their opinions are no more important than the ones of my neighbor down the street that I ALSO have never met. Peoples attitude about you might change if you could just realize this, you and your kids are NOT special.
Being a publicized circus is what gets you attention. The fact that their ethnic look doesn't match yours and if you didn't dress the tups alike, most people seeing you on the street would just glance and see a middle aged daycare worker with a bunch of children.
Do us and yourself a HUGE favor, GET OVER YOURSELF! You're NOT ALL THAT AND A CUP OF TEA!

koopdedoo said... 6

adding to my previous post -

I realized that I saw a tweet up in the top section of this blog that other people reading at a different time may not see, and my dyslexic comment would make no sense.

Khate tweeted that one of the tups thought the number on the cake was "73", not "37", and she did use the child's name. (at 7:45am EDT, the feed says "33 minutes ago".) I won't name the child.

I know sometimes I blab about something on TV here on the east coast before west coasters can watch, but I'm watching my dose of the Today show and Christy Brinkley (sp?) is on talking about the still, ongoing drama after divorce.
After watching Kate make so many appearances, this is so fascinating on SO MANY LEVELS.
Matt Lauer pulled no punches, unlike any interview that any of them did with Kate. Everything we've always wanted to be asked of Kate was asked of Brinkley in a pointed and even accusatory manner.
Then she cried and he relented (sound familiar).
The interesting thing is that Brinkley's ex has been diagnosed by the court as having NPD and she's ready to pull her hair out. "Google divorcing a narcissist" she implored.
I don't want to give it all away, but it's fascinating to see this from another perspective and to see another high profile couple roll around in the he said/she said manure pit.
If not Kate, then at least someone is asking the right questions, sticking up for the poor kids who will no doubt see the mud slinging someday.
I'll try to follow up with a link to the Today Show. I'm sure it's going to go somewhat viral.

Maybe she can start Dysfunctional Daycare? (my first thought was Mommie Dearest Daycare...)

Debbie, long island ice tea, oh yeah! Great summer drink for sitting outside and people watching. Even if I were drunk, Ms Kreider would still be boring. I am still mystified as to how anyone would be interested in watching other people raise their little kids. I raised my own kids, don't need to relive those days.

So her birthday is tomorrow but she already baked and decorated a cake for herself yesterday? Guess she is getting excited for the big day.

I wonder if the Kate cruisers will have to sign a CA? Kate will have to be "on" day after day after day. I don't see her maintaining the facade. I can see many "that's not part of it" moments.

Philly.com has a post up (sorry, technologically-ish unliterate-kateism) can't do a linkyish thingee, called her a Philadelphian (way to alienate Philadelphia) and said they had watched her in the old days making sandwiches by the dozen. Yeah right, two sandwiches quartered doesn't even make a dozen pieces and that's what she made for her eight (count 'em, 8) kids.
Can ANY of these wonderful jounalists EVER get the facts right about this broad? WTH am I thinking, they're talking about her, no need to have facts, straight or otherwise. She changes the facts twice in the same sentence.

What a difference a year makes! Last year she spent a drunken bday with Jamie and TLC. Now she will spend it with twitter.

As far as the tea time goes, I hope this time the oh-so-refined Kate calls it a 'sugar cube' instead of a 'sugar block'.

If she has so little fans attending she will get PLENTY of one-on-one time with all her adoring fans. Those few fans are going to make Kate earn every penny they are paying her.

How close are they going to the Bermuda Triangle?

Philly birthday gal: Kate Gosselin

Philadelphia Daily News
READER FEEDBACK
Post a comment

Happy birthday this week to Kate Gosselin, mother of eight, reality TV star of note - and one of the most controversial living native Philadelphians, ever. As she turns 37 this Wednesday (really? Only 37?), we fondly recall her time on TLC, when she built sandwiches by the dozen and always seemed to be on her way to a pedicure. There are things we're grateful for, such as Gosselin's change from that frighteningly spiky-yet-smooth 'do. And there are things we could have lived without, such as her temper tantrums and awkward turn on "Dancing with the Stars." Then there are the things we wonder about: Is she dating her bodyguard? And, most important, how will those poor kids turn out? But, for now, we're wishing Kate, still plus eight but minus Jon, a happy enough day and year. 'Tis the week of notorious celebrity birthdays: Tuesday, former Eagles QB Randall Cunningham tosses 49

The crazy starts SO early in the morning these days. Kate just tweeted a pic of her abraded finger (with blue glitter nails, oh my!), which she claimed is a result of overzealously cleaning the hood over her oven.

I seriously don't believe that she has been forced to cut the housekeeper yet. She must be reprising the q-tips in the refrigerator episode and working up a big head of steam, the better to ream out whatever help is unfortunate enough to be in her presence today.

The odor of her desperation is so strong, I can smell it from here.

Tucker's Mom said... 21

Kate is not a native Philadelphian. Nowhere near. Philly proper is a pretty big city and once you get beyond the Main Line, you are not from Philly.
She's from another region of PA altogether.
And wow, first she insults Kate's looks, then implies she's screwing around with a married guy and finally wishes her (minus Jon... when will people stop trotting out the +/- chestnut? Not clever or ironic anymore) a great bday and year!!

While I agree, it is possible that a child was trying to be funny ("if Mommy is going ballistic about turning 37, what if we say she is even older?"), I just don't see it with these kids. I think any humor attempts would get them punished because Mommy doesn't understand the humor.

No word of Jamie visiting to celebrate Kate's bday. Yes, a really big change from last year, not that I think Kate's bday celebration last year was the cat's pajamas. It's not my cup of tea. Yuck, packed into a meat market in my mid 30's. No thanks. Nothing appealing at all. Sweating, yelling, licking, crap rail liquor. That shit got old in my 20's.
The best bday is family and friends-- something homey and REAL.
I do wonder if Jamie just had it with Kate, and is done traveling to PA to see her. Who knows, maybe they still get together.

Dmasy, ugh poison ivy. I never got it until a couple years ago and never realized just how bad you can react. Both times I wound up on prednisone and this time I scratched it and it wound up infected, so that meant antibiotics.
DH and I have so much landscaping work planned, and are determined to do it ourselves after having a Master Gardener come out to help us with a game plan and design.
DH has to do all the clearing by himself though. Once the poison ivy is gone, I'm ready to get in there up to my elbows.
Would love to build a sunflower house ;-) How cool is that?

Saw all of that Tucker's Mom. Thought Matt was unnecessarily rough on Christie, but she was talking so much he couldn't even finish a question...I did feel sorry for her, though...her situation is kind of reverse of the Jon/Kate one. This is the FIRST time she's ever been on t.v. to talk about the divorce, whereas that jerk of an ex-husband of hers has been on all the talk shows putting her down. Also intereting is that her ex has been diagnosed as being extremely narcissistic...don't remember the term for it, but you probably do it.

Also, I think Kate was always treated w/ kid gloves because of NBC's ties to TLC. Interesting that now Kate is "divorced" from TLC, she hasn't been back on the Today Show.

Don't know how much she hid before Mr.Murt put a stop to her assholery and made her pay the kids their measly 15% But l have this from when the kids worked on the Kate+8 after Jon unsuccessfully tried to stop the kids from working. My math is not good, so if l'm wrong feel free to correct me;

Season 1 - 4 Episodes... Aug 30/2010 - Sept 12/2010.

Season 2 - 20 Episodes...Nov.28/2010 - Sept12/2010

That's 24 Episodes @ $250.000 = $6 million!

15% for the kids = $900.000 or $157.000 each.

She can live off that and all the other money she socked away for a very long time if l am correct. Not much for the kids though after all the years they worked.

Christie Brinkley is really caught in a catch-22. Her ex sounds like a piece of work. What people go through divorcing narcissists is bad enough, but to have kids involved makes it so much more difficult due to the manipulation.
Why is it the narcissist gets all the sympathy... I know, they are that good at what they do. It's like when Jon did almost any interview discussing Kate-- he was nailed to the wall.
I think he finally wised up and realized that trying to go up against Kate was futile and did nothing but feed her exactly what she wanted.

According to her, they had a "weeding project" on Sunday, and now scrubbing the hood on her stove on Monday...with that manicure? I think not! And who has 7-year-olds pulling weeds, anyway? We did some weeding in our yard last weekend, and the younger kids just didn't get the idea of pulling out the roots so they don't grow back. They were just tearing them off at ground level. So, they jumped on the trampoline whole Dad and Mom did the weeding.
So, why is Kate suddenly doing (or claiming to do) real work now? The lawn service would normally do the weeding, not the 7-year-olds. And the maid would be the one scrubbing the hood on the stove and doing the spring cleaning she blogged about. Why the change? Perhaps money is getting scarce and she's trying to cut back by doing some actual work herself...

I agree, TLC and those fat pay-cheques agreed with Kate, she does look so relaxed in the photo above. She now has a look of bitterness, anger and loss etched in to her drawn, orange face. I personally think she still has a hefty bank balance, what she mourns, and shows on her face now, is the look of loss; the loss of fame.

Posting a picture of a scraped finger, and sharing the fact that she baked her own birthday cake pretty much sums up what she has going on these days. Twitter is her platform, it's her way to stay relevant,....for now. Never forget, her belief is her new television gig is just around the corner, she embraces that above all else. Her life remains suspended in this delusional thinking.

So there are only 26 people going on this cruise to see her specifically? Pretty pathetic...but kind of what I would expect.

koopedoo - number reversal is common at their age, although it's something they should be growing out at this point, so if I were their teacher I'd advise the parents to look into testing for learning differences. Dyslexia is actually a developmental reading disorder and can encompass a wide range of difficulties. Confusing or transposing letters is just one symptom and doesn't occur in all dyslexics. Sorry for the lesson, I just wanted to share more about a very common but misunderstood learning issue.

Thanks for you explanation of the tweet. It's really easy for rumors to get started here and suddenly I could just see it plastered on Radar "Kate's kids have special needs!" I don't know if they do or not and I'm certainly not trying to start that discussion again, but they've also had enough invasion of their privacy and I try to stop rumors where I can.

"Kate would love to meet her fans"? That claim is as bogus as Cardella's travel agent skills.

Kate RUNS from her fans! No way she will willingly sit through "tea" or anything else with them. If she's forced to, she'll alienate everyone she comes into contact with.

She's a loose cannon unless someone else is managing her. Let's hope for Kate's sake that they don't get their 30 minimum. If Kate cancels, her name will be mud, but if she goes, the damage will be much more lasting.

It looks as if Cardella is still avoiding breaking out the extra costs.

People here and elsewhere have discussed the huge charges for beverages, but Cardella's also danging "surfing", zip-line and other "experiences" that involve long lines and may involve extra charges.

Will Katie and her group be comped all these extra costs? Or is she going to get a shocker of a bill at the end of the cruise, too?

Those sheeple are up for one good fleecing. Maybe we should hope it gets canceled for their sake, too.

Tweeting the picture of the tiny abrasion on her finger was the second most pathetic thing.

As someone else said, what a difference a year makes. Guess this year she'll be getting drunk alone in her room instead of on camera. No NY trip. No foot licking. No being mean and dismissive to random people.

Not even 40 and no career, no prospects, washed up.

I thought there was a group of "about 30" confirmed (from the email that Cindy C sent to the woman she eventually outed). If that's all they have, then that's not a lot of money for Kate. There's no way she's going on a ship and rubbing elbows with her mediocre fans without Steve there to make her behave. Does that even give her enough money to pay his hefty fee? What about paying someone to watch over C & M? And a nanny for the 6 left at home? She could end up with very little or nothing from this. Perhaps she'll do it for a free cruise, but she'll be so miserable being stuck interacting with all those fawning sycophants she'll probably be ready to jump overboard by Day 2.

Food

We were right in saying that the kids' house was a set. Anything you'd find on an actor's set, well that's what they got.
I even believe that Kate's personal beauty routine and clothing was either provided by TLC or comped.

If she's pulling weeds after being flummoxed by using a simple garden hose, then they've stopped paying all the benefits.

I really did love when Aunt Jodi's sister was like pffffft, Kate a cook? Ha! She had them highlight her cooking when she wanted to release a cookbook.

Teresa: that's 15% of the $240,000, Kate got. So the kids got(all 8 each episode)$36,000. Which is $4,500 each child, Kate got the rest. $204,000 is what Kate got, now don't know if this is before or after taxes, I think before. Still puts her in the million range, like $4,800,000, for 24 episodes. If one is fugal, one can live very nicely on that amount for the rest of ones life.
Think of the families who lived in a 3 bedroom houses, with 5-12, children, a dog, cat, other pets, Dad worked one job and mom either stayed home or worked a part-time job(when kids were in school). Their combined income or just dads, was probably $25,000-$48,000(this was when I was growing up in the middle 60's)Those amounts are probably = to $30,000-$75,000 today. And funny thing is, people were able to/ some were able to put their kids in private school(Catholic/Lutheran/other)and still go on vacation, pay bills, had one(station wagon) maybe 2 cars and most were happy. BBQ in the backyard, above ground pool, most had gardens(nothing like fresh home grown tomato, and other veggies), flowers. Vacation was simple, local beach, local water slide, Wisconsin Dells, day camp, camping etc and most drove there, very few flew there. Kate could easily go camping in the yard(spring break)I won't get into that, too many things she could have done JUST LAZY!

silimom #76:

Thanks for the lesson on dyslexia. I apologize for using the wrong word - I was only trying to make an observation.

My observation/comment was based on being raised by a mother who was an undiagnosed dyslexic until the age of about 40 (I was in high school then), and she transposed numbers (still does) on a regular basis in addition to not being able to read/write well (to me, it is part of her individual dyslexia gift). Her teachers & parents (and my dad, to some extent) told her she was not very bright. She was VERY aware that she was unable to help me or my brother with our homework (luckily, we were pretty self-sufficient) when we were grade school.

Do children almost 8 still transpose numbers? But if I think of them as still in first grade, I suppose it is still within the normal range at that grade level.

Regarding Cindy's latest mistake. When I called early on to find out about the cruise, it wasn't to harass, to be nasty, and not to assume the role of a hater. Having cruised so many times, I really was interested in finding out more about it, particularly why they were so vague on so many things, like the charity, the excursions, the gratuities, etc., and how these things would be handled. She asked for my name, address, home phone number, cell phone, work phone number, e-mail address, and other information and she would put me down as a potential cruise. I gave no information, but said if I were interested, or knew of anyone who was, I'd get in touch.

In view of Cindy's latest goof-up, thank goodness I didn't give her the info she wanted. At this point, if I were interested in the cruise, I'd be extremely reluctant to give her any kind of information, even over the phone. She's got two strikes on her right now, as far as being trusted the personal information.

Its similar to a swiffer but the pads are washable, and you can also get special broom type pads for it too which work really well. Ive tried all different kinds of mops and I like this cheap one the best. I recently bought a rubbermaid one that just came out on the market and it broke the third time I used it. I have hardwood floors and I wash them nearly everyday (especially now when kids and dogs are bringing in spring mud) so I usually just use hot water, sometime I put a touch of vinegar in it too.

Koopdedoo: Dyslexia, comes in many forms and degrees. From full blown to annoying type. I have the annoying type, which means I have to re-read what I write, to catch the transposed numbers, letters and missed words. If catched early enough a child can be taught to train their brain to correct/catch it. And lead a fairly normal life. Go to school get good grades and go to college. Even some of the full blown cases have gone to college with help.
To answer your question do they stop at 8? Yes and no, if a parent/teacher catches it and corrects the child, or get the kid evaluate at school, they can start an early intervention. If they don't the kids will probably keep transposing. I did not find out I was slightly Dyslexic till I was in Jr College and my English teacher told me. It did explain a lot in why I had so much trouble learning in school. But, I did go to college and have both an A.A. and a B.A..

Didn't see that one, darn!
Kate hasn't twitted in a few hours..you think she is wearing a prom dress and hooker shoes, looking out the window for the white bus to carry her away to a big bday celebration??

As far as what $ she does has socked away, with nothing coming in (except for CC blog, which may not pay anything other than keeping her name out there) and a lot going out, the locals will be able to tell how she is dealing with her finances (yard going to pot, maybe a car or two for sale, no tanning, manis/pedis, tuition issues for the kiddos).
If Jon was paying the reported child support of 25000 a month for whatever length of time that was, that should have paid ALL her household expenses at that time. If his child support has been reduced to the reported 1000 a month, Kate is now having to pry open her own checkbook for expenses.

I haven't followed this divorce at all, but I'll bet that Brinkley did not see this coming. She was there to talk about doing Chicago again and might have thought that they'd touch on her ugly divorce.

6 Nights or longer
75+ No charges
74-57 Deposit amount
56-29 50% of total price (taxes & fees excluded)*
28-15 75% of total (taxes & fees excluded)*
14 or less No refund except for taxes and fees

The above is the cancellation schedule for Royal Caribbean. If Kate pulls the plug on this cruise before May 28, 2012, a full refund will be offered by RC through Alice Travel. The deposit will be lost after that date, and as the schedule shows, the closer to the day of sailing, the cancellation charges grow larger. Kate has an escape clause, so these charges apply whether Kate goes or not.

If the passenger cancels due to a medical reason, or whatever their insurance allows, then they will be refunded through their insurer. The insurance company will NOT refund any monies if Kate decides not to go within 74 days of departure, neither will RC. The passenger will lose the amounts above depending on when, or IF Kate decides to cancel.

If Kate is reluctant to go because the numbers are not big enough, she should advise Alice Travel to cancel before the 28th of May so all monies can be refunded, no fuss, no muss. After that, see cancellation charges above.

If I were Cindy, I would make sure ALL those who have signed up fully understand what will happen if Kate cannot (if she herself, or an immediate family member falls ill) or, will not go (her ego gets in the way, or a TV gig comes along). These people will lose money on a sliding scale as shown above, or they will be taking a cruise together and talking about what might have been. Alice Travel will have a huge problem on their hands if their clients are not FULLY aware of this.

So Kate should celebrate her birthday the way that YOU like to celebrate yours? The bar scene isn't for me either, but I sure as hell wouldn't tell someone else not to spend their birthday in a bar because it doesn't appeal to ME. As long as the person whose birthday it is enjoys their celebration, that's all that matters.

I mean I'm no expert but...she's still buying milk to let the kids have cereal so the kids obviously still get some milk. Depends on how often she feeds them cereal I guess. And if she actually bakes in bulk (doubt it) in the end she's still buying milk whether or not it's on sale.

On the topic of what TLC was paying for when she was under contract with them:

I believe they were paying for a LOT. She could legitimately argue that, due to the nature of the show, their home WAS a set and everything they had, did, and showed on the show needed to be provided for by TLC.

I'm positive TLC paid for landscaping services, home maintenance, house cleaning, nannies, chef services, laundry services, hair and makeup services for Kate, transportation (leasing the BBB for them, etc). And of course, they paid for all those trips and perks AND paid her a salary per episode as well.

She was living HIGH on that hog, as they say.

And now, I do believe she is dealing with the loss of those perks. I think once the contract was over, TLC was done paying for all that stuff. They have no legal or other connection or obligation to her anymore.

So she's having to pay for the stuff she HAS to pay for (I'm quite sure she doesn't get out on a riding lawn mower to mow all the parts of the 20 acres that get mowed), but she's having to cut corners, too. Witness the kids weeding so much they were falling asleep at dinner by her own admission.

I have to wonder if she's gotten rid of or cut back on the cleaning help. The four days a week babysitter. The "laundry girl."

She's gone to Jason once for her hair since the contract ended and while he might have discounted his services, I fully believe she's now having to pay for her own hair color, cut and style. Along with the car service to NY. Notice she doesn't seem to spend the night there anymore.

Same thing for that Sirius interview: she didn't leave for DC until the crack of dawn when the Old Kate would have most definitely gone there the night before and stayed in a hotel. She also came back immediately.

All signs that she's having to pay for things herself and cut back.

She's her own first priority, so she'll give up stuff for her LAST. Her tanning, her hair, her nails, her wardrobe, her Audi sports car, all that will go last.

First to go will be anything else--the kid stuff, mostly.

The only way Kate is interesting is financially. She was someone who was admittedly struggling to make it even with two kids, her nursing job and her husband's IT job. Then they had SIX more and TLC becomes their sugar daddy. She WAS living within her means IF the TLC gravy train had continued indefinitely. Now she is living beyond her means, especially considering the fact that she has no income (I really don't think CC pays her much at all) and is most assuredly digging into savings.

Remember how much Kate loves to bitch about being sooooo tired? Once she has to let go of ALL of the help (if she hasn't already, she'll have to soon), THEN she'll know what tired is. But even then, if she's not working, she still won't be as tired as any other divorced mom of many kids, who come home after a long day of work to clean and cook, oversee homework and bedtimes and then collapse in their own bed to do it all over again at 6 am.

2012 is the year reality kicks her ass and she is forced to adjust to the idea of having to find another source of income.

Tucker's Mom said... 122

I don't think CC pays too much either. It just can't. Kate writes a couple paragraphs a week and generally poaches a pap photo.
I'd bet she got paid with expenses to come out to Chicago and wherever else she went to promote CC and her new position.
After that, I think her compensation is directly related to how many "click throughs" her blog gets.

And let's say she's being truthful about the $5 million in cash assets being "way way way high."

Let's say it's more like $2.5 million that she has in readily-liquidated cash.

I'll again quote a local who once figured her current total yearly expenses (the way she lives now, including private school tuition, everything) at about $350,000. That sounds right.

If Jon is paying $1000 a month (which also sounds right, given he is not rolling in money), that's $12K a year in child support.

Still puts her expenses at around $338,000.

Let's say she's knocked some off that by getting rid of SOME help, so she's down to $320,000 a year in expenses.

That's still a lot. If she has $2.5 million in the bank, it makes about $75-100,000 a year in interest (maybe, I think I'm overestimating that a bit).

So she's still short around $220,000 a year. She has to either earn that amount or dig into her principal to make up that difference. She did refinance the house and took a longer note (30 years) and took $100,000 out of it, so I think that's what she's using to see her through 2012 (or at least halfway through 2012).

The more she digs into the principal, the more she reduces the interest income. Diminishing returns. She would only be able to keep that up for a few years.

Meanwhile, she's upside down on the house and has a 30 year note.

The cost of maintaining a home that size does not go down as time goes on.

If she were to significantly downsize her life NOW, she could make the $2.5 million last considerably longer, possibly until the kids are grown (depending on how much she downsized!). But of course, her plan is to just WISH for a six figure income and it'll just magically happen! Because it has to! Or some such garbage! (I'd love to see her say that to Suze Orman, who would rake her across the coals.)

And just what if her fans don't like tea? You ever think of that Cindy? Not everybody likes tea.

But fine, go ahead, tell people they can sit there in August to drink hot tea. I'm sure they'll love it.

I assume Kate is too addicted to her coffee to trade it in for tea anyway. Why didn't she just ell people they could sit and have a cup of coffee? Doesn't sound any less ridiculous but for Kate it sounds about right.

Once a Viewer 127, I don't think having kids do chores around the old homestead is necessarily a bad thing, but, let's face it, there's no way six 7 or 8 year olds and two 11 year olds can manage the upkeep on the McMansion.

Kate's homegrown labor force is NOT going to save the house, even if she worked on the grounds, too.

Reality is about to bite Kate, big time.

Dallas Lady said... 135

Once a Viewer, I agree. I think the boys already single-handedly take care of the chickens.

And you know, NORMALLY, I'd say bully for them. A little hard work never killed a kid. I'm a big believer in chores and everyone pitching in and working hard. Our daughter has done her own laundry since she was nine, and has had regular chores her whole life (not for an allowance, but because we all have to pitch in and help because we all live in the house and that's part of being a family).

She has had a part-time job for nearly a year. It's minimum wage, normal teenager job. Sweeping and mopping up, cleaning the toilet, cleaning food areas, taking out drippy stinky trash, dealing with customers. She's kept her grades up and is earning a small income to spend or save as she pleases and I think that's really good for a kid. She appreciates the fact that she's going to college so much more, I think, than if she had never worked. And she's super careful with money, too.

But in the case of the Gosselin kids, they EARNED that frigging "mine all mine" mansion. Their lives and identities as private people were sold, dammit. And make no mistake that they worked long freaking hard hours as LITTLE kids, pretending to celebrate holidays on the wrong day, wearing thick sweaters for "fall" photos in the heat of the summer, being traipsed all over God's green earth and bullied by their mom every step of the way. Cameras and lights in their faces since before they could remember! They had frigging behavior problems in school and some struggles back when they were pulled out of school so often for filming. And no protections.

So while I'd normally say no harm done to kids working hard, it seems a bit unfair that they are STILL working so hard for a fortune they will never personally see. That their college education is NOT funded. That they won't even be able to get cars unless THEY pay for them.

No, they have been Mommy's Little Gravy Train for a long time and now that she can't make money selling their most private and sometimes most painful moments on TV, she's just going to make sure she gets the most out of them as she can, anyway: I doubt how she handles chores and work is even remotely fair or appropriate for their age.

They'll grow up resentful and angry. One will forever excuse and defend her, one will stay around to torture her, and the rest will run as fast and as far as their legs can carry them.

I don't think CC pays too much either. It just can't. Kate writes a couple paragraphs a week and generally poaches a pap photo.
______

It has been said many times that Kate is stealing pap photos.

CC has to vet every image used on its site, and CC is responsible for any permissions issues with the images, not Kate.

If the photo is used without permission, whoever retains rights to the image would contact CC, they would NOT contact Kate. Kate is only an employee. And yes Kate could say use this photo, I want this photo, here, etc. But it is STILL the responsibility of CC to ensure the photo is credited properly and used legally.

If the photos have been used without permission, it is the fault of CC.

TLC stinks said... 138

I would guess that much of her money is invested and her cash is being liquidated with expenses. I don't believe she is anywhere near short of cash, but just wants to play the sympathy card for a 6-figure job and her tweeties. Remember, she was tight fisted with money (Jon had a $5 a week lunch allowance) so she can squeeze a penney if she needs to (from others, not herself). If a high paying job does not appear in the next few years, she will most definitely have to downsize. The mortgage, school tuition, and general expenses are chipping away at her stash.

That's true. I was just pointing out that CC is responsible for copyright permissions/licensing of any/all images, not Kate, as it has been stated Kate is essentially stealing photos to use.

And if Steve took the photo, CC would need to get permission from him, just like any other photog or source. If Kate took the photo, she would have to grant permission as well, usually via a release form, to allow use of the image for XX amount of time in XXX context.

Paula, I saw it online and Matt was brutal. Did they edit out the end when he said he would ask her about Chicago next time and she squeaked out, "That's what I thought I was here to talk about today."? She was not prepared for that questioning, clearly. Nor was it appropriate. She told him repeatedly she had legally requested privacy and confidentiality and he kept asking her, even though SHE had never been on TV discussing it before, but the ex had!
_________________________________________

PJ, agree w/ all you said otherwise, but what Christie actually said was, "That's what I wanted to talk about today."

I normally like Matt Lauer, but he was showing extreme prejudice toward Christie today and was being a bully in doing so.

Purple Skies said... 144

I viewed the Christie Brinkley/Matt Lauer interview & didn't take it the way some of you did. Christie just kept repeating the same things over & over again, and never would let Matt complete a question...she talked over him. Then at the end when she said she was there to discuss Chicago, I laughed because she consumed her entire segment with trash talking her ex-husband instead. That was her choice...she wanted to get her "live in peace" mantra out there for the country to hear...along with saying how their Son dislikes his own Dad. She sounded like Kate Gosselin...same theme..same bashing of the ex-husband.

JudyK said... 145

Purple Skies, I agree w/ you to some extent...in fact, I said the same thing in a much earlier post, but I still think Matt was harsh with her.

Aggiemom, Matt is still with his wife since 2008...Annette Roque...she is the mother of his three (3) children. He was married once before but it was a long time ago, and I don't believe any children were born to that marriage.

Matt and Annette came close to divorcing due to his fooling around (again, captured by none other than the National Enquirer) BEFORE they were married but when they were engaged.

I agree. The segment was strange...It's old hat for Christie to be interviewed because she's been in the business for 30+ years so I'm surprised she didn't stop Matt in his asshole tracks and say something like I'm not here to discuss this, I'm here to talk about my play. It's not healthy for my kids to be talking about our divorce here.

He caught her off guard and obviously he knew she'd be emotional about the whole thing so he pecked away until he was satisfied. Maybe he's gunning for some hard-nose journalist job someplace, I don't know, but he was out of line this morning with Christie. And HE was the one who kept saying it's not good for the kids, but HE was the one who wouldn't drop the subject.

Maybe she will come back but with her lawyer in tow. I guess that's what people need these days when they go on talk shows.

Hmmm, the 5 mil is "way way way high" huh? I'm not surprised. Remember when everyone (including TV Guide) was reporting that J&K were making $75,000 per episode, and then Jon set the record straight and said they were actually only making $22,500 per episode? Less than a third of the reported amount. Could be the same way with K+8. Why would TLC pay her more than 10 times what they paid for Jon and Kate (which had higher ratings)? And not all of the K+8 were hour-long specials, either. I think about 8 of them were only a half hour. That would probably pay even less. Whatever she got, she had to pay taxes of about 40% or more, plus her agent's fee--normally about 10%--and the kids' 15%. It could be that she's not as well-set financially as everyone thinks. She's also been well over 6 months without a show, so she could be really feeling the pressure by now.
She needed that paycheck. I bet she's starting to wish she had shown TLC a little more appreciation. Too bad, it's her own fault that she didn't.

I do feel maybe she's somewhat narcissistic because once she started talking, she did not stop, her frustration just all came pouring out. But she had the power to end it and didn't. And YOU are quite sweet, dmasy.

BUT when she comes out to talk to me while I'm gardening, it's clear she still knows what's going on and has an appreciation for it (she's been commenting lately on the pretty new leaves on the clematis), so I figure she'll come back around to digging in the dirt when she's older and her life has settled down a bit.

It's therapy to me. There's no way I can be in a bad mood after an afternoon of getting filthy in my yard. Ditto for cooking. I turn on that Discovery ID channel (all they show are real-life mysteries) and start chopping and stirring, maybe pour a glass of wine to sip while I cook, and all is right with the world. :)

I almost felt sorry for her...
Suze would team up with Nancy Grace (a total Jon hater) to get the kids back on tv so poor Kate could support the kids all by herself as a "single" mom.
My feeling is that Kate would rather be right than happy. What makes me happy is living within my means. I'd stay up at night just like Kate claims to if I where upside down in my mortgage, had a home that made my mind spin as far as upkeep and had 8 kids in private school.
Even if Kate grossed 5 million, she sure didn't net it and she sure didn't spend wisely.

I'd tell you about the time I cut off a large chunk of my finger with a kitchen knife (one that required numerous stitches, a 2 week prescription of hydrocodone and bandaging it for 4 months (dr wanted it bandaged for 6 months, but 4 was all I could tolerate), but gee, I don't have a picture to share, so I guess my little boo-boo isn't as bad as Kate's.

At the risk of being accused by a pot-stirrer of being a drama queen, I'd like to ask the following questions:

Why did Kate post a photo of a scratched finger? Her motive? Is it for attention, or to show that she's so hard at work cleaning her kitchen? For sympathy?

Clue me in here -- WHY would someone post this? I can't imagine scraping my finger (or any body part) and immediately thinking..."this would make a great photo for my tweeties -- quick, let me grab my phone."

Is this the most exciting part of her day?

Yesterday Dallas was under attack; today it's Tucker and JudyK. Instead of going after POSTERS, perhaps "Anonymous" would like to contribute to the discussion. It's easy to attack and doesn't take many brain cells to do so. Contributing to an intelligent discussion, however, may not be possible for a few posters who simply like to stir. Math and finance are not my strong points. I'm going to throw this theory out for discussion anyway. Is it possible that both the reports of $250,000 per episode and KK's claim that she didn't make anywhere near that amount are accurate? If that $250,000 includes the value of all the perks that KK received -- the trips, the clothing, the food, the staff, etc. -- then her net worth could be a lot less than we think it is. If this is the situation, then, again, KK isn't technically lying, she's skirting the truth, as per usual.

Reader, I thought about that, too. It makes sense. She didn't get that much in cash, but given how expensive those trips were, and everything else that went with them, plus the actual cash received, it could have added up to that amount. If some of that was in the form of perks, wouldn't she have to pay taxes on all of it?

I was thinking the same thing - what if her 1099s or w-2 forms read "$250,000" per episode, but $25000 of that was for landscaping, $10000 was for food services, $5000 for Khate's hair/clothing/upkeep, etc.

Interesting concept.

Christie Brinkley - I don't think she is totally out of the narcissist conversation, either, but I do think she got ambushed. And once she started talking, it was too emotional for her to stop. I don't think Matt tried hard enough (or at all) to steer the interview out of the emotional place. Almost makes you wonder if he and Mr. Cook are buddies, doesn't it?

Judy K ~ Thanks for your reply.

And...now onto Kate's abrasion. lol She posted that pic to show she cleaned her stove, because this is something new for her. She must have lost her cleaning lady, once paid for by TLC. Poor thing, working to the bone like that.

Grifty tweeted a picture of her "mangled" finger??????

I would like to tweet a pic of one of my fingers....just for Grifty.....any thoughts as to which one I should use???

Gotta go attend to a hangnail...maybe I'll tweet a picture of it.

In light of Christie Brinkley's interview this morning, I am looking at this Peter Cook interview in a new light.

Yes, there are two sides to every story, but I am leaning on Christie's side right now. He sounds like a jerk!

AuntieAnn 180...that was hilarious!!

Well, I'm not proud to say I did read all 3 'published' books and she's right, they were crap, at least the 2nd two. I read Eight little Faces standing in WalMart in about 2 minutes, didn't buy. The other two I was given as gifts b/c people knew I used to watch the show. The first one was interesting, but you could tell it was 'penned' by an educated Christian person. I also found a few discrepancies from what was shown on the program. The Just Want You to Know had some interesting stories about times when Jon was around, but the actual 'letters' were ridiculous.

I really wonder is Kate will be able to publish a 4th-no way a cookbook given recent recipes 9 or maybe she's hoarding the 'good' ones for the book, loll) and not a fitness tips ok- she has given bad advice to twitter runners already. Her last choice is a parenting guide- I think not.
