Kate is the keynote speaker tonight at the Tapas and Top Hats fundraiser to honor remarkable mothers of the Ozarks. The event is at the Remington's Entertainment Complex in Springfield. Oh and since Kate has never once mentioned what this charity is for let alone encouraged her followers to donate, we thought we would. It's for this sweetie pie:

And other kids like them. The fundraiser benefits Camp Barnabas, a camp for kids with special needs. According to their web site, "Our staff resolutely pursues activities that push the limits of what the outside world says is impossible for these incredible people who are our campers. We take every summer camp activity apart and put it back in a way that is doable for anyone who wants to participate – no matter what limitations are placed on them outside our camp grounds. Things like a high ropes course, canoeing, and swimming."

Fido, that's a nice thought, but I honestly don't think it would work for Kate. For one, she would have to be nice to people and that just is not her. Secondly, she would have to "serve" people" and I think she would consider that beneath her; she just couldn't handle it 6-8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
She needs a "solitary" job, one that she wouldn't have to interact with other people much. A friend of mine works in a warehouse, "in her own little corner", as she says. She only gets to talk to her co-workers at breaks and lunch. That would be perfect for Kate because she could choose to take her breaks and lunches alone.
Of course there is some snark in this comment, but lets be honest: Kate does not like interacting with other people so this would be perfect for her since she blew every other chance she got.
Paige is 18. I think the bigger question is where are her real life friends?

Yes when I read the tweet about dinner now I think she just meant she is at the dinner where Kate is. Sad.
Kate needs to see that these children become adults. I have a family member with disabilities who is in their twenties. Special needs for a child doesn't ever go away when they become older. She doesn't know how lucky she is...she is blind.

Although I don't think she has any of these skills or talents, Kate should be concentrating on her "mom" brand: Organizing, cooking, crafts, kid tips, (cough) decorating. She's attempting to do it on twitter and her blog, but she seems to lack the knowledge that she doesn't know it all.
If she could learn and then present herself and her thoughts in a coherent fashion, she might have a chance at a career that, while it's based on her experiences, allows her to move past "mom to 8" and build the brand I think she wanted to build several years ago.
If you ask me, she has gotten sidetracked by her glam makeover and concentrates on her exterior at the expense of her "interior."

Kate reminds me of the girl in high school who always tried to fit in. She wears what the cool girls are wearing only today the cool girls are 16-18 years old. They can wear the short dresses. Kate is 36? She's still on the outside looking in.
I agree. Kate isn't a people person. A job in the back of a warehouse, or maybe something from home, but that's mostly computer related and I don't think she's well versed in using computers for anything other than shopping.
I've run across some pretty cranky bus drivers from time to time. Maybe she could drive a bus and some civil servants are anything but civil. Perhaps a government job, but what are her qualifications for office work?
Maybe someone would pay her to do maintenance on a medical website but again, that's computer work.
Um...seriously...I can't think of much.
Several comments -
a) I thought sales clerk because she could be in and out of the conversation within minutes, but she would still be "seen" and be the one in control of her area. She could probably manage to be nice for 5 minutes at a time in the linens
department - or kid's clothes.
b) Paige plays hockey. She has a job and is saving for college. So she does have outside interests and interactions. And her parents were the ones who refused to give up the TV for Paige to watch the last episode of Kate 8. I don't think they approve of all this fandom, but what's a parent of an 18 year old to do?
c) My niece is 30 and is still special needs. She haqs been diagnoses with narciccism and some
other me-only-me disorders, along with her CP.
Emotional level of an 8 year old. Yeah, she'd still love that camp.
I think Kate should have to take a commission-based job. One where she would be forced to be nice to people in order to earn money. I would view that as her just desserts.
My mother used to breed and show Afghan Hounds and when I saw that pic of Kate and the fan, I was immediately reminded of one of my mother-in-law's bitches. Her name was Cujo and she had that same long blonde mane of hair and cinnamon body (coat) but was tough as hell to work with. Her temperament was awful.
So from now on, Kate will always be to me Cujo the Afghan Hound from Hell.
Also, Kate? Keep tanning. Tan MORE. Its definitely a good look for you. Doesn't age you a bit. You don't look a day under 47! ;)
How about a sales person at a nice trendy or upscale department store? She would have brief contact with customers, possibly give them some help to find something, ring them up and say goodbye.

That sounds good. Limited contact with customers, but just enough for her to be able to say, "Do you know who I am?" She couldn't survive in a job where she would have little or no contact because her ego wouldn't be fed. How about sales associate at Gymboree? She could reminisce about the days when she got all of the kids' clothing for free and when she was the one who bossed around the sales clerks. Payback time!

Leigh is so much prettier than Kate -- so natural looking and her hair is ten times more attractive than that fried mess Kate has on her head. If Kate spends megabucks at the NYC salon, why in heaven's name can't they do something with the roots? Kate would look so much better with Leigh's color and cut.

She is now able to support a charity for children who have actual disabilities that they face and live with each day? Kate, who has without any mercy mocked her children's speech suddenly has turned to want to support children who have larger issues than her kids will probably ever face? What did I miss? How can she stand there and make fun of her own kids, from everything from teeth to how they talk yet say this is something that is wonderful? Oh, I get it, because they are not her kids. After looking at the photo of her at the speaking engagement, I can only come to a two conclusions. One is that her expensive NYC hairstylist is attempting to pry her loose by making her hair look like the Afghan Hound that Kate's Going Down described. My Master Stylist at Hair Cuttery would not send me out the door looking like that. Secondly, her "good bra" needs to be adjusted because the surgically enhanced girls are heading south. Oh, and Kate - by all means continue the tanning beds and wearing black, they both make you look so youthful.
I think a future money making venture would be to market the magic mirrors that she apparently uses or else get a proper vision exam and become their spokesperson after the makeover.

I can't remember the name of it, but it is about the men who do deep sea fishing for a living. Surely she could work side by side with those hearty fellows. She would work hard and go home tired.
