The gardening thread

By popular demand and because it's more interesting than Kate, I'm opening a gardening thread. Share tips, tricks, stories, whatever you want. Feel free to discuss anything else you want, it's not limited to gardening.

And for those who don't garden, you're wrong. You have a garden....in your mind. Check out this awesome viral video.

Just finished a fun run/major gab session w my marathon girls! Was so wonderful to run between them again! Off 2 enjoy dinner/drinks later!

Again with the "my marathon girls". We get it Kate-we know these are the women(who are older than you) who ran with you in Vegas. We even know their names-Ellen Lamar and Paula Congelio. At least have the decency to call them by their names. You don't own them.

How would you like it if Paula or Ellen called you "my marathon girl"?

Meagler:

Great post and so true.

'There is a book out there called Queen bees and Wannabees, but I do not remember the title. I took a class in regards to this thru my kids school. The Movie Mean Girls is a great story about Queen bees/Wannabees'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes, that IS the title and the author is Rosalind Wiseman & Mean Girls was based on the info in it. It was an interesting book and I read it when my daughter was in Gr 9, and experiencing some of this clique/bully/wish-washy 'friends' business. It's a hard time for girls ( and boys , in a different way) and I'm sure one of the twins in particular is going to experience it. The other I feel, may become one of the Queen bees, idk.
Queen Bee Moms & Kingpin Dads is the sequel by Wiseman (above) about parents- dealing with QB's grown up in regard to your child..(Kate)
Hey gals (any blokes here?) Dropped in to read for a second and love the gardening tips. Re scary walking alone story: once was out walking in a suburban area at around 4am, travel made my internal clock screwy, and noticed there was a car that seemed to be slowy following me. Remembering all the times I'd been told to trust my gut and that the need to be 'polite' has hurt too many women because they ignore that feeling so as not to seem rude, I started to warm up my scream and karate kick to the groin. After about half a block I finally got the nerve to turn around and look, only to see a man get out of the car....to drop a paper on a house's lawn. Phew!
Still, be safe! Trust your instincts not your manners.
Kate has all that land so and 8 kids so why would she give away the dogs?
Why cause I don't think she loved them I believe she just brought the dog back to say.
"oh look how good of a mom I'am" and to look goo for the camera of course.
Since I'm a dog lover with two 2 year old puppies I could never give them away.
Kate, pay attention to your "friends". The tweeties will still be there tomorrow.
Meagler said...
Oops, I meant I didn't remember the Author of the book! Thanks " Once a Viewer" for sharing the Author.
As the kids grow, it will be interesting to see the different roles each of them come to play. As we see in the movie ' Mean Girls", the Queen Bee, is so busy trying to be the most popular, they end up becoming the most lonely. Kate is a very pretentious person.
The more she tries to make everyone believe that everything is perfect, the more she comes to believe it herself. Kate knows how to bait people and reel them in, but after a while the person will come to realize how toxic the relationship is, and hopefully can make it out with a sound mind. The RV trip chronicled that process very well with Jamie and Ashley. Kate will never reveal the truth of their relationship status.
I will admit, I am curious about the Gosselin Book date of June 21, 2012, to see who is behind that. Someone who was privy at Easter and saw Deanna in those boots.
I think the only way Kate will change, is when her kids leave home, and she is all alone, and hits rock bottom. She might not tho either.
Kate tweeted to the chocolate bust people to email her at her site. She said to make her a size zero, but she's really a size 4. She loves to mention her size, doesn't she? Why would Miss Fitness want anything to do with Chocolate? I guess a statue of yourself would be a narcissist's dream.
Sarah Hart 31, of Kentucy was murdered yesterday while running alone. Sherry Arnold of Montana was running alone in January and was later found dead. There's probably a list somewhere on the internet of all the women (and men) who have been abducted, raped, attacked in some way or murdered while running alone.
Kate is stupid if she's doing this and then advertising it on twitter. Does she think it won't happen to her? She has eight kids that need a mother, even if it IS Kate. Or is she lying about running solo, too?
How nice that Barbie actually has some friends to play with, & do drinks/ dinner, on a weekend sans kids. How normal. And yet, how tacky to spend the whole effing afternoon twitting about it. JudyK said...
Her "marathon girls," her "mowing boys"...she had similar demeaning, condescending names for the zoo guide in New Zealand and the jumping guide. Kate doesn't see people as human beings, but as props for her ego or as objects to accomplish her list of tasks. It will always and forever be all about her and no one else.
Sometimes I ask myself why I am so hard on her and then I just read her latest tweet, and, once again, I know.
It really is obvious why Kate doesn't have very many friends isn't it? Her horrid personality aside, she does treat these people like props meant to boost her up, and disrespects them by tweeting about it the whole time, using them to make herself look good on twitter.
Once a Viewer said...
She says it is a 'rare treat' to see 'her marathon girls'...didn't she meet them once? That's rare alright!
Re: size 4: I don't believe she wears size 4. I do, and i am much shorter (5 ft2) and smaller than Kate- she's in good shape but not size 4- she's not built to be, and I hate when people act like being a small size is a great accomplishment. It's also bad for her girls to hear of this fixation on smaller is better - except for her 'good bra' of course That would not fit into the size 4 clothing I have!
I doubt Kate even checked out that site that wants to make a chocolate figure of her. According to their website, she first has to pay $75 to have the figure made up. Then she can retweet about it, and if 4 of her fans buy it for $25 a pop, she will be refunded the $75.
She can also make $5 per order, for every order that her fans pay $25 for.
So this chocolate site is for anyone, not just 'celebs.' Pretty crafty of them to ask vain Kate- sure to say yes. I wonder how they make it- will they coat Kate in chocolate and cut it off when hard?? Like a plaster cast? Can you imagine! I bet some sheeple will buy one and preserve it forever. Or pervy 'fans' might...oh, never mind! lol
Once a Viewer -- I'm with you. I don't think she's a size 4 either. I'm 5'1, used to weigh less than 100# (Oh to see those days again, LOL) and could barely fit into a size 4. I had a lot less going on in the bust than KK does, too. I'd say she's a good 6, more likely an 8. She may be thin, but she's not small framed and she's definitely busty, thanks to her "good bra".
Kate is a twit said...
The chocolate site has also been tweeting other celebs, so Kate shouldn't feel that she is oh so special. It's just another scam, trying to make money off of celebrities. Who in their right mind would pay $25 for a chocolate replica of Kate?
Would they dare eat it-or would they have it bronzed and add it to their "Memories of Kate" collection?
Franky don't you mean pushing gardens.
I also live in Quebec and my daughter plants a garden, or should I say 3 different gardens. She's so into gardening, and I detest it, I can't stand any earth under my nails nor do I like digging into the earth. I think the gardening gene comes from her grandfather, certainly not from her father nor me. She's due to have her baby on June 24 and as I'm reading this blog at the same time I'm looking at her with her big belly weeding her garden with my son-in-law. She's radiant, this is her 3rd child and I don't know where she gets the energy.
All this to say that I do benefit from her garden. We share the deck, pool, and yard. I have access to her radishes, echalottes, salad, spinach, beets, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, beans, beets, rhubarb, strawberries, peas, carrots, jalapenos, crabapples, apples, plums, pears, and I'm sure I've missed a few.
In the fall she's into the whole pickeling and preserves, and again I benefit because I have access to anything I want. Last year we counted 46 different kinds of jars of preserves and pickeling she did.
My DD and SIL built a new home 2 years ago and because I've been a widow for the past 17 years, they also included a mother-in-law suite to their house. I'm blessed to have my grandchildren close to me, and the feeling is likewise, because I do help them out also and they appreciate me being close by.
Franky - profites-en de ton été car il fait si froid ici l'hiver, on le mérite bien!
&&&
She really desperately needs a manager or someone to help her discern what she should put her name on and what she doesn't. It's like a lot of quick money scams or small businesses looking for a name, they contact 300 celebs hoping one or two will be stupid enough to respond. They didn't seek out Kate specifically, they sought out whoever is a sucker. You spend half your day as a celeb throwing offers in the garbage. She doesn't get it. Her intelligence and common sense really are pretty sad aren't they?
THANK YOU!! Another thing to add to my anti-squirrels in the garden kit. I love the squirrels. They're adorable, but not when they're digging in the garden!
Nik Wallenda's accomplishment last night was amazing, as was ABC's camera angles. Love when his dad asked him how the harness was feeling and he replied "it feels fine, but makes me feel like a jackass"! I for one was so relieved to see him wearing it. Didn't diminish his accomplishment in the least. I remember as a kid seeing his great-grandfather fall to his death on the news. Something I never want to see again.
Glad Kate actually has friends to go to dinner with. I'm sure we'll see pap photos since they follow her so relentlessly! :)
Amen, Admin. If I were to care enough to go look, I might find his twitter feed has sent the same message to a host of people. I remember that one business woman who was sending out kid's clothes come-ons to about every person with a child. Kate latched on and got something free. This guy's got a statues of Pacino. I wonder if that was an actual order, or if the guy just did it for the advertising of his business.
Forever will I feel that Kate does not enjoy motherhood. I only watched K+8 but I never saw he happy with her children except in brief moments but I could count on 1 hand the amount of times she was smiling or laughing. She was constantly screaming, disciplining and the fear on their faces? That is what I saw. The boat ride where the children got sick was like Kate was on speed and some drug which gave her a high to be able to show the camera' that look at what her children did, puked and all over them. I read while waiting to pick up grandkids that reality TV moves into your house so unexpectedly. I think what I read was a former model Beverly Johnson saying how unprepared she was for Reality Central to set up in her garage and in her basement. She said she was trying to please everyone yet pretend that she was having a normal conversation with her married daughter and then I thought of our dear Kate who assured the world the kids just played while the cameras filmed. What a liar she is. If she wasn't fighting with Jon, having a bird over something the kids did, then she was screaming at the kids again and again and again.
No way does that women like motherhood or love those kids. I guess the twins are the new mothers. This woman has nothing specific to say about any of the little kids as she does not know any of their specific talents or skills or abilities. Nothing about how they handled being in Conn other than they are a Road Show now. Pay for Kate and she will bring her look alike children for you to stare at. Not a mother is she.
Wonder if she helped her kids buy a father's day gift? She gives them money to buy her mother's day gifts but the real question is does she help her children feel it is okay to love Dad on Father's Day?
mim said...
Did you notice that Kate replied to the chocolate offer Tweet with her email? She used to refer Twitter offers to her manager. No manager anymore?
Has anyone looked at who Kate follows on twitter. She started following Milo and Elvis during the SD marathon. THEN she started following Coupon Cabin. Her last follow was Emily due to the Litchfield race.
She started with CC back in November and NOW she starts following them? CC has also tweeted about the mini marathon in Chicago. Why isn't Kate tweeting about it or retweeting CC?
She only promotes what she wants to promote. I'm surprised CC hasn't realized that yet.
Help please! My miniature poodle got a nasty little cut on his ear (high up near his head) at the groomers a couple of days ago. They showed it to me and told me they put silver nitrate on it. It has not been bleeding at all, but I can see a large, thick black area that looks like a scab. I read online about silver nitrate being used to cauterize wounds, but that it is poisonous, so now I am worried. Does anyone have any experience with dogs and cuts? My little guy seems fine, but I am worried about infection. I haven't taken him to the vet yet because it doesn't seem to be bothering him. I would appreciate any insight.
I would definitely call your yet- I know silver nitrate is often used on a wound but you want to get all the information with regard to use on a small dog: I believe it works well. Also, they can tell you how to tend to the wound as it heals and perhaps the vet should look at it. It must have been a deep cut to require this, so maybe think about changing groomers. My dog often had nicks and little cuts at one groomers and since I switched, nothing like that.(cockerpoo, so half poodle!)
I hope your dog does well- you too!
I would give the vet a call, and just ask.
In the meantime, it's good to hear that your doggie is not in pain, or bleeding, or that the wound is not infected.
Just got back from our friends' and they showed us their community garden. It's on their property, but they let some of their neighbors plant their veggies and herbs there. She said everyone has a plot (a good sized one at that) and they plant whatever they want. Then they all share the bounty.
One neighbor plants mostly herbs; another does mostly corn; others do a variety of vegetables. Our friends plant pumpkins in half of their garden plot. Then they have the neighbors' kids come over and pick their own in the fall.
I thought that was such a great idea so she gave me some pumpkin seeds. When the hubby does his Father's Day golf outing tomorrow, I'm going to plant them along our back fence and she how they do. It'd be such a kick to let the grandsons and some neighborhood kids come and pick their own pumpkins!
SoCalLocal, I completely agree with you. Kate has a very disturbing view of self image and "beauty". She eats unhealthy, is obsessed with being thin, tan, blonde, has had procedures done that she thinks improves her looks. Yet she is absolutely empty when it comes to inner beauty and obviously doesn't think it's important.
The fact that this screwed up woman is raising 5 daughters and, by her actions, is passing on these views to them, is tragic indeed. Tween and teen girls usually can have a negative self image to begin with. Instead of Kate instilling acceptance and self confidence in them, she is setting the example of never be satisfied with how you look naturally, because it isn't good enough.
Tube tops are cute on young, small chested women. Kate is neither.
Short skirt and silly shoes that don't match the outfit. I am by no means a style maven, but I know more than she does about getting dressed up. As my mom would have said, "She looks on the prowl."
The other two ladies look classy and that makes Kate look even more inappropriate.
Back to gardening -- I have 5 of the cast iron pots shown in my profile photo. They look great, but in the heat of summer they turn into "ovens" and any flowers I plant bake. Even if I am faithful with watering, they cannot survive when the cast iron gets hot to the touch. The stem will actually scorch when any flower falls over the fluted edge.
I have had success planting a bush that grows straight up. However, it is a lush green and I would like the color of flowers. This year I have planted Lantana (Love that flower!) in the pots. It hasn't gotten hot enough for the heat test yet.
Anyone here have a suggestion for a colorful planting? I was hoping someone from the Southwest would know of a plant that we might not have here. Thanks.
Once a Viewer, thank you.
This is going to sound like one of those outrageous statements anonymous people make on the internet, but I am telling the truth. 5 years ago, hubby bought me over 500 tons of UniLock tumble stone. (He got a bargain on pallets!) They were mine to "play" with. I got some hardscape books and studied lots of pictures. Took me four summers, but I got it done -- one block at a time. The current profile picture is the entry to a small walled courtyard that leads to the front door that NO ONE ever uses!
I created retaining walls, re-surfaced a wooden deck, made two fire pits and walled in an English-type garden bed with a stone pathway. I can keep changing my profile pictures to show you some of the effects.
Needless to say, I don't ever have attractive manicured looking nails!
There aren't many restaurants in the area that offer it. However, I have never seen anyone dress like that to have dinner. Never. If those three paraded in there like that they would have commanded attention and turned heads. I wonder if that's the reason they dressed to the nines, one with a long dress. Katie, Katie, Katie, your hair looks a mess, your outfit is all wrong and the shoes don't match and you look their age (or close to it). You don't look the 10+years younger than them that you are. Oh yes and as has been stated above the girls are starting to go south. The bigger they are the lower they fall!
Happy Father's day to Sport, Jon and all dads out there. One of our Father's Day traditions (started when our son was young) is to put a dog treat in the card and then hand it to the dog and say "will you please hold this so I can read the card?". We then act very surprised when the dog eats the treat. We then say "hey you werebsupposed to hold it not eat it!". Our son used to laugh and laugh at this. He's grown and out of the house and we're on our third bully but the tradition continues.
Anybody find it disconcerting that she has this rather unhealthy obsession with the number 8? She stops to count to see if there is 8 of baby animals? It's not sad, it's weird. It's just plain weird that she goes so out of her way to make sure that 8 is her number at all times.
8 kids, Kate plus 8, 8 this, 8 that. Kate, yeah, get some help. You may have 8 kids but your kids are all individual, not identical in any way with different emotions, likes and dislikes. They are not a package of 8, count 'em 8 Little Debbie Cupcakes.
What, would she be just as obsessed with the number 9 or 7, or it because that 8 and 6 are both even and therefore she thinks is cool or funny? It's not, I still think it's really weird.
We get it, Kate. The whole freaking world knows you have 8 count them 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
Not the right idea. And Kate honey, those other girls you took out, those babes need straps, that tube top looked ridiculous, not to mention you are way old to rock that look. And yes, your 50 yr old friends look younger than you. If you were not determined to show as much skin as possible, you might actually look good in a graceful, fashion forward maxi dress like your friend did in the pic. Done here, sorry, usually do not comment on her appearance, but if you put it out there . . .
Thank you kind ladies for the FD wishes!
It's funny Admin started a gardening thread. It has been one of the things I have tried to jump into the last 3 years since my divorce. With a 12 yr old daughter (also a son) I have really made an effort to learn certain skills and hobbies that I thought her and I could share together. Including stuff like sewing, doing her hair, etc.
Last weekend I planted 18 plants/flowers in our yard. Last summer I built a couple of above ground planter boxes to go around our pool (wait - people beside kHate have pools??)
It's not as easy as it looks.
I was killing off everything!
I seem to have found our groove now finally, and the flowers, veggies, ground cover and new herb garden are doing pretty well. I skimmed this thread and there are lots of great ideas from you folks I am looking forward to trying. Now if I could just figure out sewing. Grrrr. Trying to make drapes for my daughters room. Again - its hard for me!
Have a great day everyone. The men in your lives are lucky to have such compassionate and intelligent partners.
Dmasy, your stonework is gorgeous. My husband is in charge of the hardscaping and I'm in charge of the landscaping and we love it. There's a stone quarry about 30 minutes from us and he loves nothing more than to putz around there for half a Saturday. He cracks me up. Buying rocks and stone. But it's fine by me, we decide together how it will go into our yard and then he does that work and I dig and plant around it.
Last summer, he extended our patio from 10 square feet (tiny!) to over 300 square feet with pavers by himself. And it was his first time to do it. He went to a couple of workshops at the quarry then just tackled it head on. I was so proud of him and love to tell people he did it.
Then he had a gorgeous redwood pergola put in, attached to the back of the house. He had electricity wired to it, and installed outdoor ceiling fans, a motion detector light on one corner, rope lights inside (they look very nice), and a bug light on the other outside corner (you can't see it, but it works!). Then he wired up a stereo system with outdoor speakers. The man is amazing.
Meanwhile, I was killing myself digging beds around the new area, but it's worth it, isn't it? I felt broken for a few days, physically, but now we can sit out there with our coffee and enjoy how pretty it looks.
I love gardening.
But she can jaunt off to NY for hair? She can fly across the country to run in a little 5K? And like you pointed out, the damn cruise was scheduled for August!
She's so completely and utterly LAME. Why haven't her handful of fans figured out by now that if it doesn't generate something for HER (money, a trip, etc.) she's NOT INTERESTED. If she were, she would have already gotten together with a few people in her area who were fans (that Brownie person, for instance).
She's all about "what can you do for me?"
Gardening- love it but my yard isn't really conducive to a big one, so I've unsuccessfully tried to container garden for the past few years. I'm not giving up though. I hung 2 Topsy Turvey's with tomatoes and they promptly fell off their hooks. Undeterred, I hung them back up. What the hell. I did buy one other tomato plant at a nearby nursery. It already had 2 tomatoes growing on it, so I feel positive and will of course take all the credit if they actually ripen and don't shrivel up!
You all have also inspired me with your charity ideas. I can't remember who told the story of donations and people needing underwear, but it got me to thinking that along with getting donation food items at Costco, I should pick up some undies. So, I got men's, women's and children's undie packs to donate, along with a couple huge cereal boxes.
Dmasy- wow! that stone work is amazing! DH built a couple stacked stone walls around our front berms and it is a labor of love. Saved us THOUSANDS. He's amazing, I tell 'ya. I bought him a gift certificate to a nice spa to say "thank you".
I also bought something that I've wanted for years-- flower boxes to go on my second floor front windows. Geraniums, impatience and some hanging greens look beautiful. So cheerful, it makes me happy just to look at them.
Can't she just say, Happy Father's Day and to my kids' Dad, who they love and who loves them.
Nah... too mature.
And encouraging a kids to waste her time, trying to get rid of haterz instead of saying 'hey, I'm a big girl, don't worry about me" just shows what a self-centered twit she is.
I hope this girl's mom sees her tweet to Kate, tells her kid to butt out of this woman's life and tosses Kate a few choice words for encouraging such a thing.
LoveMyGrandsons said...
Over in Berks, no these kids don't understand. Most of the reality shows, and other shows, promote bad behavior and stupidity, for fame and fortune. Look at the shows about pregnant teens; if that doesn't send a bad message, I don't know what does. Get pregnant and have a child that you're too immature and irresponsible to raise, and we'll give you a TV show where you can 40,000 a year or more.
Then you have the mothers on Dance Moms who will allow their kids to be in very stressful situations and although they complain on camera, they're there for the next episode.
Then you have parents like the Gosselins, the Duggars, etc., who allow strangers to shove cameras in their kids faces and private lives, and talk about how good it is for them.
Why would an impressionable tween/teen be expected to use more common sense than the adults who use their kids to make a profit?
The whole situation is disgusting and more laws are needed because, despite popular theory, some parents do not always look out for the best interest of their children; they look out for what's best for themselves.
However, what I'm *Growing* in my garden now-- is not up for 'public consumption'... (but let's just say I have a GREEN thumb ;)
Now, if one of you gifted ladies can tell me how to quickly defrost the 'other greens' in my icebox, for my famous *Cali-Style Spinach & Artichoke Dip... I would be kindly obliged!
*All products strictly Organic. (Eat your non-gardening, shriveled artichoke-heart out Katie.)
Kate tweets how she "bitterly" misses her grandfather, yet no mention of her own father. She'd rather spend time with her "marathon girls" than to spend time with her own father on Father's Day.
Jon, on the other hand, does honor his father:
Jon Gosselin‏@jongosselin1
Happy Fathers day to my dad, to the best man i ever knew. Mark, Tommy and I miss u dearly.
That sounds gorgeous and what a lot of hard work you & your husband have put into your yard.
Tucker's Mom: Same with your property. What's also nice is you two appreciate your spouses and work together.
Oh, and I'm coming to visit both of you after going to Dmasy's! lol
Jon's a class act. It's Father's Day and Kate can't even give a little shout out to her own dad. And here's the thing, if she misses her grandfather so badly, then how about giving her kids the opportunity to get to know their own grandfather?
I think in Kate's mind, she is somehow a victim of her less-than-stellar upbringing. Her parent's did something to tick her off, or more likely, just are human like the rest of us. Imperfect, flawed and nothing like Mz. Kate.
Over in Berks, I reread my post and it sounded harsh, but I didn't mean it that way towards you. I just get on my soapbox sometimes about what's being shown on TV to young, impressionable kids, and it makes my blood boil. I hope you didn't think my rant was towards you.
Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...
Specifically naming your grandfather and leaving out the father of your children and your own father comes across like a dig. She can't help herself. She can't just say Happy Father's Day. Or she can't say it to Jon or her own dad.
Off to make the day special for the daddies in my life.
Thanks for the link to Kate's pic with the "girls". That dress is hideous and the shoes, oh those shoes! I think she could be a size 4 with some vanity-sized brands, but really, she's a 6. She'd look better as an 8. Her frame is just not petite, I mean, her hands and head are big and look disproportionate with her weight now.
The other ladies look really nice and hopefully, they'll continue to know how to help Kate, lest they get tossed like Jamie evidently did.
Just watched the never before seen footage: first, wow! It is soooo obvious after watching yeti he Florida beach footage that Kate had major breast implants. She was maybe a B cup and now they are torpedos aiming down to her knees in that ugly halter dress..and to take a line from the movie "My Blue Heaven" ...."the shoes are tragic!". Also, during the tummy tuck footage she admits and we see a lot of liposuction and she even said on the couch "heck yeah I would have liposuction again" so all her lies were exposed about that. Also, she looked sooo much younger and had an ivory girl complexion. Why did she wreck her pretty face with Botox and fillers? Another piece of footage which shows her hindsight stupidity was when the talent agent was working with the twins for commercials. Kate said, "no...not interested. We are too busy to have to be doing all that". Bet she is kicking herself now. What gets me is tat she sees all these episodes and CANNOT figure out how she should learn from the glamazilla she has become and turn it around. I guess stupid is as stupid does.
LoveMyGrandsons said...
Dmasy, it's beautiful. You're my idol now!!
Tucker's Mom said...
Wow, you ladies are amazing in your yards. And then there's Kate, bitching about moving a fricking hose around and saying she wished she lived in a 1 BR apartment.
Kate is NOTHING like her treachly tweets.
Dmasy said...
Tucker's Mom -- What you said. One of the things that drives me up the wall about Kate is her stupid, lazy, incompetent attitude.
In those Easter photos she is sitting in front of the perfectly manicured and mulched flower bed. She does not do the work and she does not appreciate the result.
There is nothing wrong with choosing to pay professionals for your landscaping. But, not when you are then crying poor and begging for gifts from moms who can't afford her lifestyle.
She is a wanna be. I would put her in a competition with any of the "mediocre" posters here any day and she would be embarrassed with the outcome.
Most of the comments here are far more informative and interesting than her silly little articles.
Wowser,
Just to clarify --- that episode where kart blew off the talent agent:
The talent agent told her the girls didn't have what it took to be in show business.
THEN kart badmouthed the agent and said well, she didn't have time to do commercials anyway.
I don't remember it perfectly, but the girls (to be kind here) didn't have "it". Watching them was painful. It was clear that kart was hoping/thinking/ASSUMING they would be snapped up in a second for shining, lucrative careers that she would manage. For a large percentage of their income.
Alas, kart, another example of your magical thinking.
Tamara, the Secret Garden was my daughter's favorite book when she was in grade school. We read it together quite a few times. Um, tons of celebs interact with their fans and followers. Look at any celeb twitter account. In fact I could tell you a story of a well known celeb who every so often goes out for private dinners with a few of their biggest fans who help run their fan club. They invited them, not the other way around. What I don't know of is any celeb who toys with their fans, promising cruises, fan events, marathons where you run with them, and then never delivering.
Tamara -- I loved "The Secret Garden", too. There was another book called "The Hidden Garden" that I also liked. It was about a little Dutch girl who came here with her older sister after the war. Their parents were killed and they were supposed to come to an Uncle. Well, they wound up in a NYC tenement and the little girl transformed the trashfilled courtyard into a garden. I loved it because it had all sorts of people -- Black, Chinese, Irish, Polish, etc. brought together because of this one little girl. It was fiction but read like a true story.
Dmasy -- your work is amazing. You should be featured in one of these lifestyle magazines. So beautiful -- much more appealing and personal than these "professional" designs that are lifeless and soulless.
I really hate to criticize Kate's appearance, but since she personally posted the photos, I just please want to tell her to get some friends who will tell her what she needs to hear (like Jamie tried to) not what she wants to hear like her fans on Twitter are doing.
Kate, take a good look at the differences between you and the other two women. Use a ruler if you need to to see the problems. Your forehead is twice the size of theirs. Measure the distance from the eyebrow to the hairline. You would flatter your face SO much more with some bangs.
Look at where your breasts are sitting. #1 - they're just too big for your frame and #2 - they are almost at elbow level. Any good bra fitter will tell you your breasts should sit midway between your shoulders and your elbows. Perfect example, look at the women next to you. Their breasts are nowhere near their elbows.
Oh the shoes. Look at the lady to the right of you in her cute summer sandals. Your clunky white shoes do nothing for you.
Also, look at the friend on the right's hemline. Right above the knees. Every skirt you own doesn't need to be mid-thigh, no matter how good you think your legs look (and they look nice). It's just a cheap, non-flattering look.
For the money you're spending on your appearance, you could do so much better. If only you would listen to good advice instead of the fawning praise of sychophants.
Unfortunately Kate promptly discards anyone who wants to help her. I loved the recent interview with Kate Couric and Prince William where he was basically saying you're not helping me if all you do is tell me how great I am. If I'm going to be a good king I need people to be honest with me and tell me where I could do better. Kate is one person who does that (his Kate). I always enjoy seeing young people be light years more mature than a 37 year old.
Hello Kate, did you have a nice Father's Day hanging with the crew? Remember them? They are those all male production staffers who helped babysit the kids and move heavy boxes around for you. You vowed they would remain in contact show or no show. So..... who are the strange women in your picture? What happened to your friends - Jamie, Jody, Beth and all the good folks at Target? What about the gas attendant who used to swipe your credit card while you tapped your gladiator heel impatiently at the pap guy TLC hired to follow you around? Wait a second, do you mean to tell me Steve spent Father's day with his wife and kids? And Jon spent Father's day with his kids, girlfriend, and her kids? Wow Kate, that kind of leaves you home alone -- do you slap cologne on your face too and shriek?
As much as Kate refuses to see it, Aunt Jodi was trying to help too. Her entire speech at the child labor hearing was a desperate attempt to try to make Kate see that her family was being led astray with dire consequences. And they WERE, Jodi was 100% correct. But Kate didn't want to hear that and so Jodi was done, cut off, out of her life. Sad. I really wonder how many other people have tried to say what Jodi said who we just don't know about. I'm guessing a lot.
Obviously, Kate couldnt wear The Good Bra with that tube top. So instead she taped 1/2 of watermellon to each side of her chest...
What has she done to her face? It's so long and square, like a shoe box. Is that from fillers, self-botox, surgery, what? It's like her bone structure is growing and changing and not in a pretty way. She has become quite homely. Well, anyway,she dresses in a LOOK AT MEEEEE manner that wouldnt even hold up in Vegas, she just looks so cheap and ridiculous.
What a difference a word makes! (As it turns out, "My Secret Garden" is a book resembling the recent "50 Shades of Grey".) Not for children, but perhaps for hard up ex-wives like Kate-- reading alone in her super comfy, so sexy bed... on an alternate "Daddy" weekend. Her bedside Tweets are just creepy.
Happy Father's Day weekend to all!
Back to Chocolate Kate for a second... when they make a likeness, they have to make a mold, which requires having your face smothered in the molding compounds - probably a food safe silicone/rubber material. Wouldn't Kate love that? Remember how she reacted when she got her hair rinsed in the bathtub when she got her original extensions. This ought to be good. I almost hope she goes for it, even if nobody forks over their $25 for the "Kate's a Bust" masterpiece. She could set the original on the table right next to the globe. Lovely.
Our garden this year was a buffet for Bambi and family.
Nik Wallenda prayed while he crossed Friday. Was THAT cheating, Kate?
Know a woman who was jogging on a country road near her home. Two good old boys in a pick 'em up truck came up behind her, then turned around, passed her and stopped up the road and waited for her. She reached around to her back, never breaking stride and casually slid her legally registered concealed handgun to the front so they could see it. They left rubber they left so fast (tire skid marks). I never knew she even had a gun until then. Yes, a legal and registered handgun. But this scared me so much. What if they had had a gun? What if she hadn't had one?
Ugh. There are so many things wrong with her on many levels, but there's something that really irks me about her talking about the kids hanging out with "[her] marathon girls" rather than their father on Father's Day. If he didn't have custody this weekend (and who am I to know?) that'd be doubly raw for both Jon and the children. They're obviously close to him and vice-versa.
When I was young my father worked in the movie industry and was often absent for months at a time on one shoot or another– and this was in the late '90s, so we didn't have Skype or high-speed internet to communicate, just a scratchy long-distance phone call every Sunday. Admittedly, I've always been a Daddy's Girl, but not being able to spend special days with him such as holidays and anniversaries was painful as Hell for both of us. He missed out on a lot of my childhood and I missed out on having a Daddy.
The fact that Kate is reveling in their separation is just disgusting.
Best, Zelda
none of her kids have the 'it' factor, something they inherited from her - the lack of 'it'! that was just one of many things she screwed up on, their 'Asian-ness' could have been a plus in getting them some jobs but her training AND also her lack of training made them unusable for almost anything. No one was looking for immature illmannered children with a huge case of self entitlement. And this is by NO means meant to knock the kids - it is ALL her fault.
