It's always been pretty obvious that long after they became very wealthy, Jon and Kate continued to unethically portray a couple with their hands full just struggling to get by. Just how much money was taken from innocent church goers and other people under the mistaken impression they needed their money just to eat and pay the bills may never be known. Today however, former US Weekly reporter Robert Hoffman, who was assigned to the Gosselin beat for two years and has stated is a friend of Jon's, posted a revealing contract on his web site.
The contract with Lane furniture is dated September 23, 2008, and includes some of the following interesting information:
- The couple were paid $30,000 in cash and $30,000 in furniture, for a total of $60,000.
- Lane was responsible for all the taxes that Jon and Kate would owe as a result of this exchange
- Jon and Kate were to have final approval of the promotional video they were to shoot for Lane
A second contract dated November 14, 2008 provided for $20,000 payment in cash and $5,000 worth of Samsung electronics.
Around about this time, the Gosselins had several speaking engagements lined up, many at churches. (What appears to be a complete list can be found here.) One such example is Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Abington, located just down the road near Philadelphia. While they have removed any reference to the Gosselins from their web site, another Gosselin blog saved the information they posted:

In addition, a fan posted a lengthy account of her encounter with Jon and Kate in Abington, reposted on a fan blog, which includes in part this:
"We sat in the center of the theater, row G, so we were pretty close. I had a perfect view. We sang 2 worship songs. Then the pastor came out and talked about the church. We had to sit through a long video about the church. Then they had a raffle. The pastor then explained that there would be two offerings: one for the church to pay off their rent of the theater, and another for Jon and Kate.
Finally, he introduced Jon and Kate... I'm going to be honest, they looked miserable at first. Kind of like they didn't want to be there. They didn't really smile or make eye contact with the crowd. I think they were more annoyed at the fact that everyone was cheering and screaming and clapping and they just see themselves as a "normal" family. At least that is what it seemed like to me. The interview started and they lighted up I guess you could say. ...
Kate also does some kind of "online devotional" once a week. Since vrigg wanted to know more about their faith, I'll go into that a little bit more. Apparently there was this lady who had terminal ovarian cancer, who was Kate's age. Her last dying wish was to meet Kate and talk to her. (This was in March). So Jon and Kate went to visit her in the hospital, where Kate helped her accept God and death. She passed away shortly after that. The grandmother called Kate to tell her the woman's son was diagnosed with pediatric cancer, completely non related. He passed away this summer. Kate still keeps in touch with this family. I think this is why her charity of choice is pediatric cancer. They said it was things like these, bringing people closer to God, is what keeps them going. It was truly inspirational. I had no idea that the Gosselins were this spiritual. Jon mentioned prayer (praying TO God, not AT God) and having a relationship with Him.
....Following the interview, the pastor asked us to be gracious with our love offerings for Jon and Kate for their being here, and something about the kids' babysitter. There was NO mention of any such college funds! I repeat! NO MENTION OF ANY COLLEGE FUND. The pastor said the money goes directly to the Gosselins. They set up the table and chair for Jon and Kate to greet and sign autographs on the photos. The photos were $20 each (I think Luna said it was $10 for one kid, or $20 for the whole family) but here it was $20 for the same picture.
No, we did not purchase a picture, and no, we did not give a love offering. We did however, wait in line because I just wanted to see them up close (moreso Jon [[wink]] ). I made eye contact with Kate. Everyone was standing there gawking at them and snapping pictures as they were signing autographs. Then the security guards instructed them to not use their flash because it is distracting. We were allowed to take pictures though."
Before grifting from blue collar church folk or anyone, is there a moral and ethical obligation to disclose just how well off you are doing financially? We certainly think so.

Sorry, but with the Radar Online article, I am wondering why the two parents can not figure all of this out without the media. It is getting old and the kids deserve better.
Does anyone know how much he is behind? I still don't get why she can draw from the kids accounts and he can't. If she IS drawing from them. Why doesn't he have half of those 4 years, the book sales, the speaking tours, the freebies, all the church grifting and anything else they've accumulated over those years....I'm confused.

I knew she was pulling a fast one on him with the we worked the child support thing out behind the scenes and he can see the kids anytime he wants just wish he would ask more often. She was giving him a false sense of security that it was okay. It is never okay. You cannot work anything out behind the scenes when it comes to child support. It is all on about what is on paper. Now that he has gotten behind he will never catch up, and will always have that worry, trying to stay one step ahead of the courts. He should have walked away with half of everything, and he got nothing.
I for one don't beleive this article about Jon being ready to lose his house and ready to go to jail for not paying his CS. Why on earth would he (who usually doesn't comment to the press about personal things) do an interview with ANY magazine that puts him in a bad light. It just doesn't make sense to me. I will give him the benefit of the doubt on this one until someone can come up with solid proof that this story is correct.

Re the ROL article ~ I no longer think an article like this reflects poorly on the person being featured (in this case, Jon). I believe it puts BOTH of them in a bad light, and brings them BOTH down together. There are a lot of men in the same boat that Jon is in. Friend of the Court does not take into account your house payment, nor do they care. Child support is a formula based on income and some other factors, but not house payment. Jon may have to get rid of his house if this is true. It just sucks that it has to be so public, especially for the children.

So lets review. Jon was upset that pedophiles got to enjoy his kids without somebody having to pay for that, and now Jon is upset that he might go to jail for taking the high road getting off tv, because there is now no money to pay his child support.

Jon said a month or so ago he was current on support. I looked at his lien amount at that time. It was not an over the top amount. I checked this morning after seeing this story and the lien amount now is less than it was a month or so ago. (No, I'm not giving figures or links, so don't ask).
The line that sticks out to me from ROL is this:
"I decided to take the high road and quit reality television and now look, I'm going to end up in jail because I can't afford to pay child support to Kate who has plenty of money, " the former TLC star complained."
"I can't afford to pay child support to Kate WHO HAS PLENTY OF MONEY".
It is my opinion that Jon and Robert have a deal with Star Magazine (remember the word Star on GB site is italicized) and the ROL article comes from Star Magazine and that this is pre-publicity for 'Kate Gosselin-How She Fooled The World'.

Personally, I couldn't have made choice 2, do no judgement there. Choice 1, however I will judge. You made a decision to bring a child or children into this world you couldn't afford because Kate had baby fever and lived the attention and Jon couldn't say no in the end. Both of these people need to grow up, get over themselves and work together to raise these children without airing their problems in public.
If the star story is true, well, Jon, sorry but that's what happens when you have 8 kids. If you are having trouble, go back to court. That really is your only option. You cannot be denied the right to see your kids even if you're behind on CS and if you keep the court appraised of your financial situation they will work with you.
If you can't afford your house, move. Get roommates. Do what you need to do. Again, you cannot be denied visitation with your children because you live in an apartment or share a house with 1-2 roommates. Sorry, divorced men and women do this all the time and make it work.
Is it fair Kate got the house, primary custody and the bulk of the money? Probably not. But at the time, you were thinking about yourself and your needs. You were listening to Yes men telling you you were a big shot and would make a ton of reality tv money (Lohan, etc.) You went through women like they were m&m's. You skewered yourself in the court of public opinion. You had crappy legal representation.
You made bad choices and the consequence is that Kate got the farm, no pun intended. You seemed to be trying to grow up and do better and I do hope, for the sake of your kids, that this story is a lie and that you had nothing to do with it. Given your past and most recent history, however, I'm not convinced you didn't.

Kate got the kids because she's a mother and mothers get their kids in that state. Kate could have been doing the same things Jon was and would have gotten the kids.

I got so digusted the other day with this revealation, that I couldnt even get my brain around this and couldnt come to the blog. I actually took a few minutes in the shower this morning (I really do my best thinking in the shower!) and tried to determine if I was simply jellus over the dang furniture that they had to sell their naked children to get. No... I am angry over the lies and the BLATANT using of good hearted folks. I hate abuse. It angers me and even terrifies me on some level. I hate to see people tricked and taken for a $$ ride. Cheated out of their own hard earned money. Stolen from. Hate it hate it hate it.
All the while they were scamming church goers out of $20 here and another $20 there, they were living pretty. And getting free first class vacations from churches. And Kate was abusing the other 9 people in her household.

I do not know what to make of the Star article, but the timing is suspect given that GosselinBook is coming out. Kate has had ample time to prepare a battle plan and this may be part of a smear campaign on Jon. There are so many lies floating around, it is hard to know what the facts are. Robert, having worked for a tabloid, will be able to explain how all this misinformation works. Kate is lovin' this because she is such a liar. No wonder she wants to stay in show biz. And yes, there was something going on for Jon to get such a bad deal in the divorce. How Kate managed to walk away with most of the money and the house is astounding. I think we speculated once that there was a more fair split of equity at the time of the divorce. Jon's share was put in a "trust" from which exorbitant child support payments were withdrawn. It lasted for over a year before he had the court make a realistic adjustment.

Here is another estimate of what Kate, Jon and the kids were paid for the filming of Kate Plus 8 - $500,000 to Kate, $200,000 to the kids and $70,000 to Jon. That would explain why Jon had to rent a house, drive a second hand car and wasn't out flying around going to ski and sun resorts.
I don't think the Gosselins ever made the big money they were credited with making. TLC did, and still are.
There does seem to be something fundamentally unfair about Jon not wanting his kids on a reality show but still being expected to fund the lifestyle a reality show affords.
But again, that's a private problem between Jon, Kate and the courts. It's not really something that should be up to the public to decide.

If you work together to keep Kate's name out there, you don't say that it's ridiculous for her to get a dating show -- that she should be at home taking care of the kids, and you don't say that she is well off financially. The last thing you want to do to keep Kate relevant is to make her look like she only cares about being famous.
Fools in love - I don't agree. I believe Jon saying anything bad about Kate will get her name out there more than him saying anything good. Bad press for them seems to garner more attention.

People in the US are having a hard time; losing their homes and jobs. Families are having to make the tough decisions on how to keep the family together. Sometimes the decision is one member (usually the father) takes a job 2 or 3 states away from where the family lives, just to provide food and housing. Other people are underemployed. Taking jobs well below their skill and salary level just to have an income. The food banks across the nation are taking care of more and more families because the need is so great. And the families deal with their problems every single day.
And then we have these two yahoos; Jon and Kate. They scammed good people, made millions, had children they couldn’t afford and what do they do? Go running to the public saying help me, I can’t afford to feed my children. And this nonsense has gone on for eight years that I know of. Eight years. Oh poor me, I have a purse full of bills I can’t pay because Jon took the money. Oh poor me, I might lose my house because I’m behind in CS payments. Neither of these parents deal with their problems themselves, they go to the public for sympathy and money. All the while both of them hide behind the children, saying everything I do is for the children.
Jon and Kate choose their path in life. Others in America had their path chosen for them. My sympathy is with the struggling families trying to keep their homes and put food on the table. I have no sympathy for Jon and Kate, they choose to go this route by having children they knew they couldn’t afford.
I will continue to contribute to the struggling families in my small way; donating to a food bank, providing back to school supplies and Christmas presents for the children. As for Jon and Kate, I will tell others not familiar with the Jon and Kate saga about how everything they did was for fame and fortune, not for the children.

I don't know what the Pa. law is about the going to jail comment. IF Jon is behind in his child support, wouldn't it be up to her to raise a complaint before the issue is dealt with by state officials?
Surely in her much more confortable position financially she would not press the issue to the point where Jon is jailed.
In my mind, it is the innocent children who are suffering and will continue to because of the actions of these two greedy parents who sold their childhood for entertainment purposes...and lots of cash and "stuff".

TLC Stinks: TLC and their lawyers could not control how the money and assets were split up in the divorce of Jon and Kate. There are laws that need to be followed. We don't know for sure how this was done. Kate wasn't just given money and the house. It was split by the court in a way that was fair to both. TLC had no control over that. Maybe Kate bought Jon's portion of the house out. Maybe Jon just squandered his money. There are all sorts of variables that we don't know about. Trusts for kids, etc.
Kate doesn't have to worry about Jon not paying child support...she'll be raking in the money from her dating show...HA HA HA HA HA HA HA ...

No. If he's behind, domestic relations would go after him whether she complains or not. They just don't throw him in jail. He would get a notice to appear, make payment arrangements and if that's not workable, he could go to court with documentation to have the payments reduced. There are only six reasons in PA for wage garnishment, one of which is child support. They could do this.
ROL reports, "But keeping a good job has been a difficult challenge after reality TV because the unemployed dad says people still recognize him from the show."

I'm not in PA or Ohio but my son who had residential custody, agreed with his ex that she would no longer pay CS. Originally she only had to pay minimum & was always in arrears. Without going into detail about their agreement, he petitioned the court and it was so ordered. Otherwise, she would have ended up in jail.
I see Kate is at it again. No publicity of late, only a non-existing dating show, inwhich nobody is interested in, from a rumor that Kate or Kate's PR planted. I can't believe either of them expect an ounce of sympathy after contracts like this come out. They had more opportunities for some easy cold hard cash in huge lump sums with NO TAX CONSEQUENCES and very little work (poor them, one day of filming a commercial, how rough), than the average American will ever see in 10 lifetimes. If Jon did make those statements, maybe it is because he is so frustrated at seeing Kate get what she wants, live the lifestyle of the rich and famous, trotting here and there for hair appointments, trips, runs, while he is struggling to support the kids and himself. He finally just had to let loose. He's kept quiet so long. I'm sure there is much more going on behind the scenes that the public will never know about.

I don't think Jon has ever had a legitimate job. There is a you tube clip around of them explaining how they got together, it was from their show, and Jon says he was 22 years old, living with his mother, no job, career or skills,when he met Kate. She had just graduated from nursing school. They go on to get married, claim the paid for the wedding, they go on honeymoon, Kate is in Disney gushing about how much stuff they are buying and how she loves shopping, they have fertility treatments, they have the twins, they buy a house.. and Jon is still either unemployed or under employed as a waiter at a hotel. He is not in school studying IT. Then the sextuplets come along and when they are nearly 2 they buy another house and with the TLC money rolling in, Jon doesn't have to work, but they need to make it appear he does because the community backlash is growing. So they invent a job with some furniture maker, then Beth's husband, and then the solar company that were a sponsor of the show, and now Jon's brother is spotting him another job title. I don't think Jon has the education or skills to have a career type job, and so far there has been enough money selling his kids.

If I'm reading the article correctly, there was no mention of him being in arrears with his child support. It said that he can't afford to pay his rent and child support. He could be up to date on support, but is struggling to make ends meet by having to do both.

It depends on what you consider "legitimate." He had an IT job in Harrisburg. I would think that it was legitimate. I'm assuming he brought home a paycheck from it. It doesn't matter how he got it or who gave him the job. He was employed and went to work, which is more than she is doing right now, unless you consider grifting for freebies a full-time job. At least he's not doing that.

We posted on this before. Based on Jon's child support that was assessed at the time of the divorce, he was paid $400,000+. This was based on a $22,000/month child support, which I think Jon has confirmed, and the fact that the maximum % of child support was either 40% or 60% of total income in their state (these numbers are from memory, might be off some, but it's close). This was supported by the fact that his child support was drastically reduced after the TLC contract ended last February.
Jon was unemployed for several years, and was living large around the time of the divorce. I wouldn't be surprised if kAte gor the lion's share of their assets--he was pretty unstable around that time. In the months before the divorce was finalized, he began expressing remorse for the damage he had done. And, I think it may have been one way to make a clean break from Kate and minimize all of the negative publicity about his ill-advised public interviews and withdrawing the money. He also thought he had a bright future in the entertainment world, before TLC shut him down.
Well, Kate has changed her tune about gassing up vehicles. She used to insist it was men's work and Jon had to do it with both cars... I don't think you're all that amazing ,Kate, to put diesel in your 'large' money guzzler. Why,'typically' I've been putting gas in my car for years now! Regarding child support, many states require that employers withhold child support from wages, which prevents them from falling behind. He would be responsible for sending any child support based on income he makes from self-employment (he has a networking IT business). That is probably how he fell behind.

I knew she was pulling a fast one on him with the we worked the child support thing out behind the scenes and he can see the kids anytime he wants just wish he would ask more often. She was giving him a false sense of security that it was okay. It is never okay. You cannot work anything out behind the scenes when it comes to child support. It is all on about what is on paper. Now that he has gotten behind he will never catch up, and will always have that worry, trying to stay one step ahead of the courts. He should have walked away with half of everything, and he got nothing.

First of all, I will always give kudos to Jon for finally deciding he'd had enough of the charade of being on a reality tv show, and getting out.
Second, I don't there is any more money to be made in the entertainment industry for either parent. That's why Kate is stuck doing a lame blog on CC and sitting in their booth at an upcoming BlogHer event. Jon is apparently working, but doesn't make enough money to pay both his child support and his house payment. I do feel for him, because if he scales down to a one-bedroom apartment for less -- Kate will say he's not providing adequate arrangements for the children.
I think Jon will simply have to search high and low to find some sort of living arrangement that he can afford, and that also includes at least three bedrooms in total for him and the children - maybe one that the boys share with him when they visit, one for the older girls, and one for the three tup girls.
Either way, I wish he would keep that info private. It's pathetic the way these parents blab their personal problems to the public.
Mamma Mia - No, Jon's job with the cabinet maker was legitimate. The cabinet maker called them out publicly about how Jon was fired not because they didn't want to pay out medical benefits for 8 kids but because Jon was using company time and resources (the Internet) to solicit donations/freebies.
Jon was then given an IT job in the Governor's Office because Kate asked the Governor after the sextuplets were born if he could find a position for Jon.
To the best of my recollection, Jon did not want to quit the job but did so on Kate's request so she could travel to promote her books, potential endorsement deals, speaking engagements, etc. IMO, that was one of his more poorly thought out decisions. (There were rumors at the time that he had met someone at work but that came out during the divorce so take it with a grain of salt.)
So in Jon's defense (not that I should *have* to defend him. I shouldn't even know about him!), he did work and I think genuinely wants to work. It will be interesting to hear his side of things.

Why not just say from the comfort of my sofa? Instead of brown leather. It's like she took an online writing course that recommended using lots of adjectives to spice up your writing. What a tool.
Child support laws vary from state to state, but I do believe that most (maybe all?) states now use a computerize program to calculate child support. Certain information is plugged in and out comes a figure. I know that in my own case (in California), the judge did give the father and I a little leeway in agreeing on a specific monthly amount. I agreed to accept $50 less than what the support program came up with. Because it was still in the ballpark, the judge allowed it.
However, if either party is using a federal or state aid program, I don't think the court will allow and modification to the child support issue. For example, if I were receiving food stamps, Section 8 housing, Medicare or Medicaid, etc. -- I could not receive those programs AND allow the father to pay less than court-ordered child support. That's because I would be shifting the burden of child support off the biological father and onto the taxpayers.
It really depends from state to state, and then from county to county, how child support issues are resolved. However, being that almost all government programs are cash-strapped, the courts are not inclined to give much leeway on the issue of child support, in light of the fact that a parent receiving less monthly support is more likely to need government assistance of one kind or another in its place.
I also remember when Radar said Jon's mother was moving in with him and that he hadn't worked for two years or something like that. I really think Radar knows Jon does not have the resources to get a lawyer to dispute what they say, so they just say it.
However, I do think Jon feels he shouldn't have to pay because Kate is so wealthy. His payment is a huge amount of money to him, but it's like throwing a grain of salt in the ocean to her. I also don't think it's an accident that he started his own business. I think he may be trying to avoid being garnished.
After eight years of putting up with his narcissist wife, my brother told her he was going to leave. She all of a sudden became very nice, apologized and said she would change. And change she did, she went off the pill and got pregnant with a 3rd. She later told a friend if he's going to leave her he's not going to get off with just paying for two kids. He left for good over a year ago, and the payments are draining him, just as they were intended. While he's angry at her, he's more angry at himself. He was going to get a vasectomy after the 2nd and he kept putting it off. I thought my Dad was going to put a hit out on ex-SIL (lol) but my brother convinced him to please try to get over it. The little one is here, she looks just like her Daddy and is the epitome of a Daddy's girl, no amount of anger is going to change that. My brother knows that this could have all been avoided if he'd just gone in for that minor surgery.
Jon needs to take on that mindset. What happened has happened. Going by statements HE made, it sounds like he let Kate handle all the wealth and there were 11 accounts. Who knows how she set them up? There was a very large amount of unreported picture cash as well that if she squirreled it away, he can do nothing about it without incriminating himself. He should have been more proactive with their finances. For whatever reason, he didn't involve himself with the money. Too late now to cry foul now because he ended up with the short end of the stick.
At the end of the day, he has eight kids. They need to be raised and supported. Now is not the time to split hairs and quibble and say "it's not fair." There's ten more years of this. Figure it out and move in, in private.
I think Kate is on her way to NYC, she has been twitter silence, not even posting about her new CC blog. She stopped at the gas station, maybe PB had to use the toilet, and told Kate to fill it up.

I swam competetively for 10 years, and I have three children who swim competetively. They are in the water (depending on their age and ability) anywhere from 6-7 to 18-20 hours a week.) And like I said, we RARELY wash their suits. Nobody has ever had a health problem from the suits not being washed, their suits last a long time for the amount of time that they're used, and they're not sweaty or dirty - they've been bathed in chlorine for hours, then rinsed in the shower. The only way they get musty is if you don't hang them up.
Respectfully, you don't know everything. And you definitely don't know anything about this topic. Swim suits are not like other workout clothes that get sweaty or dirty or filled with bodily fluids.

In addition to getting off the un-reality show, I think it's extremely apparent why he stopped going on the church chats. The excuse given when only Kate started doing them was "Jon decided speaking really wasn't his thing." BS!
I never saw them speak but I know people who saw some of their very early chats. They all commented what a natural Jon was and the ease he had with the audience for never doing this before. I remember someone saying Kate looked seasick... lol. When he was telling their story and representing the TRUE status of their situation, he was on fire. It is so apparent as the level of deceipt and lying by omission began to mount, his conscience could not let him go on. Kate has no consicence so it didn't bother her a bit "where's the next one? Girls/women run a higher risk of bladder, kidney, urinary tract infections due to anatomy, proximity and such. Now add in undergarments and very young children who may not have the greatest toileting skills. I am a nurse, we had an above ground pool for 15 years and I washed both my daughter and son's swimsuits after each swim. I've had some bad bladder infections and would never even think of risking that on my kids.

Wow - SO condescending. Kelly. I may not be a nursse, but I am in my 40's, have two daughters in their teens, and we have all swam on a daily basis for years at a time. I also grew up with dozens of girl friends who did the same; and now know dozens of girls who swim daily. None of us has ever had any kind of infection from our swim suits, and I have NEVER heard of any girls that I knew as a kid or know now having a problem with this.
I read an online board a few days ago (when this was first mentioned) of triathaletes who train daily, who were talking about if they wash their suits. Probably 3/4 of them said they did not. Most said they swim, then rinse them as they're showering, and hang them up. A few said they did wash them every once in a while. But most agreed that the chlorine is probably doing more to disinfect the suit than anything, and most also said their suits lasted. (side note: the quality and fabric of the suit has more to do with it than anything.)

I think what peeves me is that I have known several men, my husband included, who pay their child support without complaint. We even continued to pay for many years despite the fact the kids were living with us 80%+ of the time and we could have used the money to cover costs because my husband and I felt that the $ we paid (which granted wasn't as much as some - less than $500/month) was worth a fairly amicable relationship and the flexibility of the kids to live wherever they wished. In addition, they are teens and frankly they could easily eat that much in food in a month of weekends, Friday to Monday (the ex and her family eat put a lot).
My sister's boyfriend pays CS and spousal support because he travels for work so mom has to be the primary caregiver. His ex is a bi-polar narcissist but never once does he complain, and believe me his ex is a piece of work and doesn't take the kids to the doctor or dentist etc. like she should so he pays all of that too. She shafts him continually but he does what he needs for his kids and gets by - barely but he does - because he says "I brought them into the world, it's my responsibility to care for them."
So, again I say, grow up Jon. Be a man and stop bitc**** to the media. It's pathetic and brings you down to Kate's level

Of course chlorine is different. It's a bleach for goodness sake, so it's going to kill germs better. I see female pediatric patients with UTI's all the time and I'm sorry, but being too lazy to toss their suits in a washing machine and risking that is not worth it. It's just not. Have you had a severe bladder infection that required i.v. antibiotics? If you had, you would never risk it. These girls aren't on swim teams, in chlorinated water like your kids.
I'm sorry for stating that J&K sued the state. I thought they had. I think I know too much about these people as it is and that's my own fault. But I do try to verify things as best I can before speaking my mind. Anyway, them appealing the decision of the state to withdraw the nurse is wrong.

I agree with your assessment that some of the comments were condescending. However, it doesn't mean that they weren't correct. Admin shared her very personal reason for her opinion, as did other posters, and at least one nurse added a professional opinion--all of which are based on facts concerning the anatomy of girls. And no one disputed that you have swim team experience.
However, there may be a difference in the situations described that may be confusing the issue. Swimmers that are training and competing usually shower and change. And, rinsing suits in the shower, after every session, would, I agree, safely prolongs the period between laundering.
However, in the summer, my kids staid in swim suits all day. We would go the pool in the morning, then they might go in the sprinkler later that day. Meanwhile, there is a nice warm dampness in the genital area, conducive to yeast and bacteria. My kids had several bathing suit, they had a fresh one everyday. if they didn't get laundered, they were hand-washed and dried every evening.
The comments here were based on the fact that Kate didn't specify whether the kids had multiple bathing suits. Given her cheapness when it comes to the kids, it was assumed that they may only have one suit. If that is the case, Kate has proven, once again, that she is being unhygienic. As far as I'm concerned, based on my professional experience, a fact--not an opinion. if you can find a source that is based on credible research, that this is not the case, then Link, Please. If your situation is not the one described by Kate, then this discussion doesn't really apply to you. If it does, consider yourself lucky.

I really doubt if the execs at DWTS read Kate's CC blog, unless they have a burning desire to know how often to wash swimsuits.
Ex nurse good point about how swim teams usually shower right after swimming helping to get rid of bacteria that may have developed during the practice or meet. A little kid probably wouldn't. Which brings us around to an apples and oranges thing, what's the point in ranting about a swim team in order to justify Kate when what Kate is doing is nothing like what a swim team does. That said I'm still waiting for some kind of link that reasures me it's perfectly hygienic to rarely wash swim teams uniforms. Anecdotal evidence that you've never personally had an incident doesn't prove much.

When you were a kid, did you know that all of your friends' moms never washed their suits?
We've always had in-ground pools, and growing up, I remember when my best friend had an infection. She had to take pills that made her urine turn purple. I remember her joking about it, that it was such a lovely shade of lavender. She also said that the first thing the doctor said was, "are you sitting around in a damp swimsuit, and how often are you washing your swimsuit?" Even back in the day, docs knew that swimsuits could be the potential source of an infection.

We are getting her set up with anything and everything, but this is not what she wanted. She has worked hard always and she never thought she would need assistance like this. No worries, I have a friend on the local fire department and they are taking care of the kids school supplies and shoes OUT OF THE FIREFIGHTERS OWN POCKETS. Is that not wonderful?
this is where my head and heart is, not whether or not Kate can soak Jon for more child support so she can keep paying steve, rent limos, bleach her hair, and fly around the country first class to run down some street. She WASTES more money in a month than most of us earn in a year. She can go to - never mind.

Speedos don't stay damp. They dry in a matter of minutes while you are wearing them. Having on a damp Speedo means you just got out of water. There is no cotton like fabric in them.
Even the crotch area is nylon and rinses out while you are in the water. At least that was the way my own Speedos were, back in my competitive days.
I never had a problem with mine, and don't know a single girl on my team who did. But maybe we were all very fortunate. That's possible.
I never had pimples because of the chlorine. It cleans a lot you don't think about.

BTW, the reason we are commented on the swim suits at all is because it adds to the mountain of evidence that her über mom, ultra clean, OCD persona that she tried to shove down the public's throat was FAKE, FAKE, FAKE.
Removing head staples, brushing hair, brushing teeth, clipping toenails, dirty sheets an blankets, and now smelly, dirty swimsuits. Yuk--Gross!
Also, add me to the list of people that just don't get Jon. The only explanation for his inconsistent behavior is a mental illness (ie bi-polar, schizophrenic), or addiction. There is a cyclical nature to his eruptions that I have seen many times before (5 years working in a psych hospital), caused by mental illness (bi-polar, schizophrenic) or, (more probable), alcoholism or another addiction. l have commented before that I believe that the sudden change in his public behavior, after his time with Rabbi Schmuely, was a result of a recovery program or similar experience. Jon has publicly stated that alcoholism runs on both sides of his family. Coupled with his episodes of public intoxication and his own statements that he was told that his family history put him at risk, and that he has to "watch" his drinking, are tell-tale signs. If someone has to be vigilant about a potentially addictive behavior, it is a tell-tale sign.
Jon, since you read here: If you are in a recovery program, call your sponsor before making public comments. If you are not, and you qualify (which I think you know you do), then, for your children's sake and your own, please educate yourself and seek help. The AA.org website has a ton of information and a checklist to evaluate whether you qualify for the program, as do other programs.
You are the best chance for those precious children to heal from the chaos and damage that your kids have sustained in their early, vulnerable years. They need you to be a steady and sure influence in their lives. You once said that you want to be the constant in their lives. So, be that. Enough of your eruptions.

Yeah, the first thing I think of when looking for coupons to save money for a summer BBQ with a lot of kids, is Kate's take on the latest DWTS lineup.
I'm gobsmacked.

Hey Fidosmommy! So good to see so many of us still around, after all these crazy years. Kate did bring it up on her Blog- fair game Buddy. What I find most interesting is the fact that in September '08, she's all about grifting cash & freebies from the mid-class unsuspecting folk, with Jon in tow. The very next month... Kate wants a divorce.
I guess she was wrong when she thought Gina would just step aside. Unlike Jon's current girlfriend did, after the Company Picnic when he met the notorious NPD'er. Had she fought for her man a lil' harder-- we might not be here.
Wow, only Kate could use a (supposed) blog about saving money to brag about having 3 cars, a pool, and now a leather sofa. How long until she decides to write about all the money one can save by having 24 acres (Gardens! Chickens!), and how thrifty she is by buying a 6-7,000 square foot house ("I can cook from scratch without my damn kids interrupting! No need to go out to eat!).
Kate makes it look like she didn't want to be on DWTS, and it was actually the other way around. She said--back when the All Stars idea was first announced that heck yeah, she'd do it again, with a renewed vengeance. And she tweeted that they did not call her. So, Kate, go pound sand--they didn't want you.
I doubt that Pam is going to waste any time at all on Kate's opinions of her being on DWTS. Nobody has gotten more good press from the DWTS cast announcement than Pam. She doesn't need Kate's approval. She's Pamela Freaking Anderson.
Remind me again why Pamela Anderson would want anything to do with Kate. Here's an article from FoxNews from March 31, 2010.

According to a report from Life & Style magazine, “Pam can’t stand Kate.”It doesn’t help that Kate is reportedly desperate to be friends with the former “Baywatch” babe because “she thinks it will help her career,” a source tells Life & Style.

I hate elitism. My father had a big bank account but I didn't. He used to give me financial advice about transferring $10,000 out of my savings account and investing it. My savings account was about 200.00 at the time.

Laurie the DWTS tickets are free! I've been to a few shows in the past! I don't even know why she mentioned DWTS on CC. Maybe she wanted the medias attention or maybe she doesn't have anything else to say !

Might I suggest that we retract our claws, and press on? While we may never settle the debate of chlorine’s effectiveness at eradicating crotch-rot, I think we can all agree that Kate’s latest CC blog was [once again] utterly ridiculous. A post catering to people with heated, built-in pools? Call me naïve, but last I checked, folks who can afford to install and maintain a heated, in-ground pool are not the ones who really need coupons or lessons on being thrifty. Kate is just using the CC blog as a platform to show off the material items she has probably coveted her whole life – signs, in her mind, that you’re rich (the pool, the leather couch, the cars ). She can’t go one post or tweet without mentioning one of her “status symbols.” So sad that she doesn’t see how silly – and downright plebeian – it makes her look.
As for the DWTS post: Kate, dear, you’re not smart enough nor a good enough writer to mask the intense jealousy you are so obviously feeling (was it really necessary to mention at all – much less TWICE – that Pam wasn’t a finalist during “their” season?).
Good Lord, that woman’s grapes are so sour, they’re squirting vinegar.
I'm pretty sure that Pamela Anderson is smart enough to recognize that as a slam from kate, not support. She's no dummy, despite the image she has tried to cultivate. I'm sure she doesn't give one iota about what kate thinks. Why would she, anyway? She's an actual celeb. kate is not.
Jon's twitter is quite boring. No mention of the articles or any need for money.
Pam is a way bigger celeb and what's more a better parent who truly is devoted to her boys. Those icky boys. Suck it Kate.

You can also just go to the CBS studio, it's about a block from The Grove, on Fairfax and Beverly and get there early. They will let first come first serve get in! We once went without tickets but got there late and didn't in!

Kate probably thinks Pam is going to be thrilled that she has Kate's backing. After all, Kate does has over 100K followers who just love, love, love her(cough cough), and who she expects will vote for Pam because they love Kate. It's like Kate is saying to Pam "Look how many votes I'll get for you, aren't I wonderful!"
And she probably genuinely believes that Pam will fall for it.
That blog could have summed up what she wanted to get across in one sentence. Pamela is the only one going in to the all stars who was not a finalist, lest it be forgotten. That was the gist of the entire segment. YOU WERE NOT A FINALIST! BLOCK IT OUT PAMELA. BE BRAVE. DON'T LET IT MESS WITH YOUR HEAD! And that is a coupon blog for what reason? TO MESS WITH HER HEAD!
Also kind of presumptuous of Kate to assume Pam would be scared to have not been a finalist. How does she know what Pam is feeling? And if she's so darn supportive of her why not give her a phone call or text?

Kate is a twit: you are so fast with the DWTS info!!! It takes me forever to write down stuff! Sometimes I respond to what someone says and everyone has move on to another topic! I'm more of a talker then a writer, I quess!!
I can't believe that Kate mentioned the freaking leather couch! I grew up with leather couches and I hate them! During the summer your legs get sweaty and when it's cold they are really cold! Why does she think they are so great??? I don't get it!
Tomatoes I don't like leather coaches either. I actually had one when I was in PA. It wasn't mine it was in the sublet I was staying.
The humid PA weather made you feel like you were sitting on a giant diaper. It made the weird diaper sticky sound when you got up and your legs stuck to it.
Also in the winter I could never get all cozy and comfy on the coach with a cup of hot cocoa. It just wasn't possible.
I did a little paparazzi photo search for Pamela and I found this quote from her from last December:
“My kids keep me in shape,” Pam has said. “I play every sport with them – football, basketball, baseball. I’m always outside and on the beach and in the water and I’m not a real gym person. I don’t do the gym and I don’t diet – I’m vegetarian but I don’t diet.”
Here she is on the beach with them, and no one is causing a panic!

Everything to this biotch is about status - perceived, or not, and it's all about what her stunted at 12 mind thinks the "rich" have - the leather couch, the inground pool, the cars, the appliances, etc. She has no idea what the really rich do or have, her mind is all about glossy magazine pictures. That is why she is so laughable. The limos, the bodyguard, the Fig & Olive, oh let's not forget Nobu too, expensive shoes, she's classic nouveau, yet with little real taste or style. And without means to continue to support the lifestyle.
I truly hope this book, or someone else, blasts the egregious grifting out of the water, their behavior was, and continues to be, outrageous. I am sorry for Pamela Anderson that the likes of Kate Gosselin had the nerve to write that crapacious blog post, and disgusted that Coupon Cabin gives her the forum.
It would never in a million years even occur to me to brag about something like a leather couch. Hell, I have a leather couch, loveseat, chair and ottoman. I didn't know it made me so darn special!
