Jodie Foster: 'If I had to grow up in this media culture, I don’t think I could survive it emotionally'

Dang, even Jodie Foster is now describing child stardom as the 'cruelty of a life lived as a moving target' and says you have to 'submerge beneath the foul air and breathe through a straw.' Holy moly.

I don't care if I turned out just fine, you idiots, child stardom still SUCKS: Foster
says when she worked with Stewart on
The Panic Room,  she tried to get
Stewart's mother to talk young Kristen out of acting.
Oh, snap. Turns out Jodie Foster thinks
child stardom is just as horrendous as
we've always tried to tell you it is.
The former child star, so-often cited by naive pro-child exploiters as a "success story" and proof child stardom is not that bad after all, is finally done with playing nice after another former child star, Kristen Stewart, has spent the past few weeks having an unfortunate misstep plastered all over the tabloids. Foster has pretty much avoided the typical pitfalls of former child stars. The drugs, the partying, the depression, the reckless behavior, the affairs .... well, there was that little presidential assassination attempt that was pretty much all about her, but otherwise, she came through her childhood fairly unscathed despite working since she was three years old and having no memory of ever not being famous.

But, now Foster flat out says there is no way she would want to be a child star in today's culture. In fact, she would call for someone to help lead her out of it (Oh, you mean like Aunt Jodi tried to?): "I would only hope that someone who loved me, really loved me, would put their arm around me and lead me away to safety."

Foster has been rather polite and tight lipped about child stardom previously, however she recently described her mother, who managed her career, as a "mostly negative influence in my life."

An absolute must read: http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/08/15/jodie-foster-blasts-kristen-stewart-robert-pattinson-break-up-spectacle.html

FWIW, I thought I remembered that Jon did get money from the house, but it was then put into an account to pay Kate the $22,000 a month child support he was initially ordered to pay.

What seemed unfair to me is that the 22k/mo was calculated on Jon's earning potential as a TV personality. But TLC immediately shut down all the jobs he got under their "morality" clause. This was even before Jon stopped the filming of the show and TLC sued.
------------
I forgot he was supposedly paying that amount of money! crazy!
Surely Jon was fairly compensated concerning the assets gained during the marriage. If he was paying 22,000 a month, then that would account for some of the supposed 5 million net worth, but that doesn't account for all of it. If Jon is in a financial bind now, then he grossly mismanaged what he got during the divorce.
BUT, surely no judge in family law is going to award a custodial parent with the lion's share of the non-custodial parent..that's just not fair. Jon should have re-visited the child support issue each new yr once a tax return was in place. Would a judge award child support on a 'future' supposed income? that doesn't sound like common sense to me..

Whatever each parent has, it's not enough. If Kate had enough, she wouldn't be tweeting for free toilet paper and thanking Sears for a grifted treadmill. She'd rather be spending her time traveling, ya know....she reminds me so much of Leona Helmsely, it's creepy.

As for this iPhone +for a YouTube channel, these girls are crazy and misguided. Would Kate like the twins do this for am 'idol?' Maybe Taylor Swift needs a phone? No, Taylor would do exactly as you suggested. This is really worrisome.Just when you think she can't sink lower...

Kate will take that phone, and sell it on eBay, or sell the used one she has now and keep the new one for herself.

Has anyone ever figured out exactly whom this Paige girls parents are? I'm curious. Is she earning the money to buy Khate all this stuff, or is she getting it from her parents? How old is she anyway?

tate said...

I don't believe she "purchased" the treadmill. She complained and complained for months that her old treadmill was a piece of junk and then suddenly she started tweeting about Sears and Nordic Track, etc. I think it was another freebie. In fact, before she got the Sears treadmill it seems like she even tweeted about her favorite kinds of treadmills and they were all much more expensive brands. I guess none of those companies offered her a freebie, so she had to go with Sears.

And if Kate can afford an Iphone for herself AND her two oldest kids, she should not be accepting an Iphone gift from a teen. Where are this girl's parents? She must not be too swift herself to think that Kate needs an Iphone from her.

Kate is a twit said...

Paige did not get that phone for Kate. Back in July, Paige tweeted that she was getting a new Iphone-the 4S. She had hoped to get one for her birthday and didn't, but she was going to use some money she got for her birthday. There was something wrong with the first one she got so she sent it back to get replaced. The replacement also had something wrong with it and again she sent it back. The phone that she tweeted a picture of was the 3rd phone she received.

Paige has recently tweeted about getting a T-shirt from that YouTube family-shaytards, that met Kate at Blogher. I think that is what she got Kate.

Unfortunately for Paige, she tweeted the photo the same day that she told Kate she was going to send her something.

I know it may be creepy for me to go review Paige's tweets, but I didn't want people to jump to conclusions regarding what she was sending Kate.

However, I was surprised that Paige didn't get a pink phone to match with Kate-but Paige also mentioned she got a refurbished phone, and perhaps she didn't get a color choice.

We are hearing from her LOUD AND CLEAR, so I interpret that to mean she doesn't have enough in the bank 187

I remember Kate stating that there would never be enough money (not quoting directly) and despite all the tallies of her freebies,we have
no idea what she has and hasn't paid for.

As far as I'm concerned, except for grifting from her community and generous individuals (esp. the church people) the rest is between her
and the IRS. They are not known to be merciful.

Before anyone jumps on me, her continuous grifting irritates the hell out of me, as does her lack of parenting skills. I have NO idea how
much money she has. My concern is for those poor children who lack a Mother.

The line has that been in my head for years comes from Lady Madonna:
"Who finds the money, when you pay the rent, do you think money is heaven sent."

Apparently she does think that. I do not think of her as a celebrity, but an infamous wannabe. Whether you believe in karma, or
the ways of the universe, I believe that:
"The wheels of justice turn slowly, but grind exceedingly fine."

From wiki:
A celebrity, also referred to as a celeb in popular culture, is a person who has a prominent profile and commands a great degree of public fascination and influence in day-to-day media. The term is synonymous with wealth (commonly denoted as a person with fame and fortune) implied with great popular appeal, prominence in a particular field, and is easily recognized by the general public. NOT.

I think you're right. And by behaving this way, she is confirming what we have been saying for years. That she is low class, gauche and bordering on white trash. Sorry if that seems harsh.

Most of the families of her children's schoolmates are incredibly wealthy people. So many of them dedicate hours to fundraising for the school and are involved in their own charitable endeavors. Kate does neither, instead, she grifts for toilet paper on twitter. Brags about her grifted beach vacation when many of the kids friend's parents have summer homes they don't even need to rent out if they didn't want to.

Kate claims she doesn't see us, doesn't care what we say and pretends we don't exist. Bull. It is so important to her to rub our noses in her freebies, she's making a huge ass out of herself. The only people she is hurting is her kids. How awful and embarrassing for them. They are all getting to ages where your parents very existence is embarrassing, let alone your mommy taking gifts from teenagers and shilling Bella Bars and Coffee Mate on twitter. I don't know why..... those poor kids and how this all affects them has been on my mind and everything their wretched mother does lately amplifys it.

P.S. After only watching one or two episodes of J&K+8, it was vividly clear that Kate is an unstable, uncaring mother who possesses not one shred of empathy. Who in the HELL allows their kid to go on an 18 hr. road trip each way and spend a week with Kate? Helllllloooooo?

How do I post a link without reading the link? By hitting 'publish' instead of 'preview'. I don't have time to formulate a complete thought in real life let alone on the computer. I run a development business, and coincidentally, one of my male employees is pissed that some tv star named Jon Gosselin has a rich wife saying he no longer has to pay child support. That is what most people think when they hear of this story. I know that is not how the court system works. I have had to pay child support and the court does not look at who is richer or poorer, just who simply can't pay. They look at your income and your debtload and your assets and the only way Jon has joint custody is he was already paying his fare share of the kids expenses and the order didn't reflect that he was. That is the only way they would drop his child support payments. Do I think Jon was paying half the tuition? No. I think he is broke and the court varied the order because he is broke. That is my analysis and I am not trying to make anyone take my word for it. Just as Admin keeps saying she is not, yet several people on here keep jumping down my throat insisting I am pissing Admin off, violating the blog rules, refusing to move on, etc. What is your problem? There is lot of stuff to read on this blog - people are talking about getting drunk on Rumspring, adopting pets, rescuing pets, being grandparents, travel, so whatever interests you is great and what you don't enjoy, don't read.

Apparently Consignment Shop Kate is now trying to pretend she gives clothes to friends and that she will donate clothes! Really? We are all know she gives her children's used clothes to consignment shops,to earn yet another buck, as it has been documented by photos many times, so chances are, this is NOT happening. More of Kate's lip service- after all, who would know?

Sorry but I am completely disgusted with her RECENT non-stop grifting/sponsorship. Bella Bars, Coffee-Mate, Sears,etc... The list has gotten out of control... and is sick at best. Mostly because this woman has never given a penny of her money, or clothes, or suggested donations to anyone unless it benefits HER.

She obviously has a lot of "sponsors" who aid her grifting - Target and BBB, and is not satisfied. I guess if she doesn't have a job, grifting is her full time career, much like it was in the beginning. Since she will not get a job, guess this is now her full-time job.

Shame on the sponsors for supporting someone so repugnant, who has been given so much, rather than the truly needy people, but I guess the Krap advertisement is worth it to them. As Gomer Pyle said, "Shame, shame, shame."

Sorry so long, but extremely busy with work and family over the past couple of weeks.

librarylady said...

The people hired by Sears to respond to tweets or other social media would have no idea if anything was grifted - notice it also says "I don't believe...". They would never say even if they knew.

Companies are probably likely to be getting the idea here soon that endorsements she gives even with one tweet are going to hinder, not help, sales or marketing. While for supposedly "celebs" the "any exposure, positive or negative, is good" theory generally applies, this is usually not true for businesses.

I agree with you! If a post isn't interesting, just skip it!

I haven't read the day's posts, so don't know exactly what has transpired to make someone not post or 'knock it off', etc, but you make some valid points concerning child support.

Child support may vary from state to state. In TX, the non-custodial parent pays child support according to a table, which includes income, assets, liabilities, etc....the custodial parent's income does NOT affect this amt, NOR does the custodial parent's new spouse, if they have remarried.

Children's tax dependent status in TX is also up for grabs...in case of a large number of minor children, each parent can assume an equal amt of child dependent tax deductions, regardless of who has primary custody.

Even though Kate did say there was 'never enough money', I still think she doesn't have enough money in the bank to continue her spending habits until she's pushing up daisies.

Her last book was a flop, but she did earn $$
on DWTS. If Jon was paying 22,000 a month, how long did he do so? Kate wouldn't have been out a dime for private education during those few short years, correct?

I will say it again because I believe it so strongly. The system doesn't work when someone who doesn't need freebies takes them as much as she does. One more thought on Grifting Kate- Good news is she is now reduced to grifting once again because she has no media offers. Bad news- She has amped up her number of "sponsors" WHO ARE RESPONDING while reverting to the "poor me" syndrome." Much like years ago, as she now has no "media" job offers.

All of the grifting "freebies" should be embarassing to Kate- toilet paper dilemas, but it kind of shows that she is hitting the toilet bowel herself, as she has no prospects for a show nor a clue what to do without TLC.

Maybe Kate can do a show on how to shamelessly grift.... now that would be a "reality" show.

Julianna said...

The people hired by Sears to respond to tweets or other social media would have no idea if anything was grifted - notice it also says "I don't believe...". They would never say even if they knew.

88888888888

I totally agree, and I was just about to say the same thing. They didn't say, "Kate didn't get it for free." They have no idea if she did or if she didn't, and they certainly wouldn't check with the suits behind the freebies to find out.

"Juliana, check the tense, this law firm said Kate makes a lot of money being on television, including DWTS, not that she was currently on DWTS."

8888888888888

Check the wording, Mama Mia. I checked the tense and it doesn't say that she "makes" a lot of money being on television, it says that "Kate Gosselin, on the other hand, CONTINUES earning a substantial income on television, including a stint on the show Dancing With the Stars."

It's not even a matter of semantics here. The implication is clear. CONTINUES is present tense. It does not say that Kate Gosselin continued (past tense) to earn a substantial income. This ad is about those who need child support, implying that Jon is unemployed, but that she "on the other hand, CONTINUES earning a substantial income..." We all know that this is not true at all.

They are destined to become service dogs for wounded veterans at Walter Reed Hospital. Even now, veterans being treated at Walter Reed are training these pups -- mostly by intensive petting sessions -- and socializing them.

----------

Wayward, I believe you mentioned you're local. Do you know if the parents of the kids' classmates are aware of her behavior on Twitter? Is it something that's discussed?
__________________________________________

I am an hour or twoish south of where Kate lives. I live closer to where the tups were born.

I have a connection to a student who attends the same school as the Gs. This child is the same age as the tups. No, I do not know if the classmates know what Kate does for a non-living. I do know the parents talk, that is not new information.

A couple years ago, Jon was photographed at a skating birthday party with the kids. The child I know was there and their parent gave me the scoop. Which was a non-scoop, really. Nothing special happened except it was noted by all in attendance how the kids were brimming with excitement, they just let loose and had an unscripted blast. After that, I told the child's parent not to tell me any more. I'd just rather not know. It's way too tempting and we all feel their school is sacred ground, as it should be. I did break, badly, during expell-gate and gave the parent a ring because I couldn't stand it. But the parents lips were sealed, as they should have been. Bad wayward.

The student I know went to last year's birthday party TLC taped at the house. It took unspeakable willpower not to ask about that, but I didn't. It took even more superhuman willpower to turn down an invite to a b-day party where the G kids may have been. But I did. I do know everyone loves Jon and can't say enough good things about him.

My feeling bad for the G kids now, goes back to when my kids were that age. At my oldest's graduation a few months ago, I couldn't help but note how many kids in his class used to live at my house, or my son at theirs, and then all of a sudden there was a change. Eight-ish- nine-ish seems to be the age when little cliques start and mean boys & girls begin to rear their heads. They are a little more aware at that age and a little more bold about asserting their thoughts. Social status starts. Whereas in kindergarten and 1st grade, kids are so pure and see everyone as equals. It's beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time because it's fleeting, at best.

So no, I have no idea what this year holds for the kids at school this year or what their classmates think of them. I'm just lamenting as someone who has been a mom for what seems like forever and how "the jungles of kid-dom" (to quote Ralphie from A Christmas Story) evolves. I wish them the very best and hope they have a wonderful school year.

Tamara said...

Dang I wish you'd ask(ed) Way. It would be very interesting to know how Khate and Jon's actions have and do effect the kids psychologically and in the education/social setting.

Some of these mommies, although fortunately what appears to me to be a minority, seem to believe that it's admirable the more you can provide for your family for free, the better. Who am I to say no is something they fully believe in. They have no regard for any of the ethical implications. No regard for what it teaches your children. It's all about what you can get, it's not about how or what it means. They don't seem to believe in the traditional view which is work hard at a job so you can provide. If you can get OUT of that traditional model and find an easier way, that is admirable to them.

Go back and read the tweets. First they said thanks for purchasing....this was in response to Kate's shout outs. So why wouldn't they assume she bought it. When someone tweeted them questioning whether it wasn't in fact just a grift, that's when they backtracked and said oh well, we "believe" she purchased. You do realize the twitter people are usually the 20 year old interns who don't have the first clue who was grifted what. Anyone professional wouldn't have even responded to that tweet much less said oh well I BELIEVE so. They don't know. Maybe she DIDN'T I don't know, it doesn't matter she's grifted plenty else. But this twitter person doesn't know.

I come here to give opinions but how in the world can someone suggest we do something so low as fight with Kate on Twitter or even to write to these companies she is tweeting? She may tweet these accounts on twitter to tick us off, but if she wants the free stuff, I'm almost sure she has someone writing letters asking for something free in order to get put on her web site with over 4 million hits. There has to be a fine line between our constitutional rights and us violating Kate's constitutional rights. We don't belong on Twitter if we want to harm her in any way. JMO.......but I won't be a part of it.

I do not hate anyone, Kate G is a free loader, that is MO, she made money off the backs of her children, fact. But now? Those children do not need us blocking Kate's methods of grifting, not for us to go on Twitter and harm anyone, especially ourselves.

Administrator, please speak out about this, unless you did, that I just didn't read it.

Now Kate is boasting about the numerous visits she made to the spa at Hershey during a time of HIGH stress. I don't think someone with a purse full of bills goes to the spa multiple times. Maybe that was all grifted too. Or maybe Kate just used some of the money from one of her eleven bank accounts.

I don't get how she acts like she has to budget for trips with the kids and whatever else, but then just casually tosses out that---oh yes, I've been to that spa many times.

Angie, I also don't believe in contacting companies, although I don't think it "harms" her, that's quite a stretch. Even if she never got another freebie in her life who cares, oh well support your own darn family like everyone else. I'm not shedding a tear or seeing it as Kate harmed. But for me, it's just too much interference for me. I prefer to be an observer of this story not a part of the story. The sheeple have such an overwhelming need to be part of the story and it's weird. I will moan and groan about it and make sure all the info that anyone could need is here if they want it, but as far as I'm concerned it's Kate's responsibility to be an ethical person, a good person, a generous person, not the company or me.

What I can do though is things like donate TP to a favorite charity and get more involved in giving back myself. In fact this weekend I'm doing a beach cleanup for the first time, I'm super excited and a little nervous too, it's supposed to be a BIG one. That's what you can do to help. I want to use this greed displayed for good to galvanize the choices *I* make.

Doesn't mean that they gave it to her-she could just have been trying to make them sit up and take notice of her, hoping that in the future they might be useful to her. Just like she did with Keurig, Cuisinart, Starbucks, Coffeemate, or any brand that she throws out there.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

That sounds awfully similar to a manufactured, "promotional" tweet in exchange for a freebie. Awfully similar.

But we don't know unless she admits it or Sears admits it.

Still who goes around twittering to random companies just for the heck of it. -----

That's certainly your choice. Years ago, we had few methods of recourse when we had a complaint, or wanted to praise, a company. Paper and pencil, then a typewriter, a telephone. Now we have social media and, because it's so wide-ranging and immediate, companies pay attention to what's happening on their feeds and pages. Progressive Insurance was in the news recently because they refused to pay an insurance claim. After the family wrote a blog post which set off a Twitter revolt, Progressive caved and paid the claim, which they should have done immediately. It's an interesting case which shows the power of social media, and there are many, many more: http://redtape.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/08/17/13321184-lessons-from-progressive-screw-up-when-its-twitter-vs-lawyers-take-twitter

If Kate, even occasionally, asked her sheeple to donate items rather then send them to her and the kids, or asked a company to donate to a shelter or give a vacation to a military family, I'd probably overlook some of her grifting, and simply grumble about it. Until she does (ha!!) I'll speak up when the mood strikes and let those companies know exactly what type of person they're using to promote their product/service.

I think it’s a moot point. Either way, the tweet makes Kate look like the dumb-a$$ she is: If she did grift the treadmill, then she’s exposing herself as the greedy, self-absorbed, user that she’s been from day-one. If she actually purchased the equipment, then she’s contradicting all her claims of being poor, and needing to budget and coupon. Exercise equipment is a luxury. Any reasonable person with a “purse full of bills” that she can’t pay surely would not spend her money on such frivolity. But then, we’re talking about Kate. She continuously vacillates between her bipolar personalities of “single, struggling, poor mom of 8” and “I’m rich, let me shove all the accoutrements of my fabulous lifestyle in all of your mediocre faces.” She can’t help herself. Kate lives to grift, *and* loves to show off. What she doesn’t get is that you can’t cry “poor” and simultaneously brag about your in-ground pool, leather couch, fancy exercise equipment, luxurious beach house vacation, etc. etc.

Personally, I read the tweet as the treadmill being g[r]ifted to her. As Admin mentioned, who thanks a company for something they PAID them for??? But either way, the tweet exposes Kate as the greedy braggart she is. Once the Sheeple and all the grifted companies wake up to this fact, perhaps she’ll finally circle the bowl for one last time. I’ll even donate the toilet paper for her final flush.

Whoever has the most nights gets the tax deduction. If Kate gets them 182 nights and Jon 181 Kate gets it. If they spend all day with Jon but sleep at Kate's that counts as "her" day.

Isn't this negotiable? My friend has a little boy that is severely disabled from cerebral palsy. His father is alcoholic and sees his son, at most, one evening a week. They alternate who gets the deduction every year.

Ex Nurse yes, that's just the default rule. You can waive your right to a deduction and let the other parent take it. There is a form for it. That's probably what your friends do. I don't think the IRS cares as long as no one is double dipping.

The fair thing to do when it's 50-50 seems to me taking the deduction on alternating years. But if Kate makes out with even one more overnight than Jon this year, it's her right to take the deduction every year by law.

Ahhhh, I thought I won because I was funny, but I got so sad my hubby and I drove to Burbank( an hours drive) to Krispy Kreme , came back home and stuffed my face with doughnuts, yum, yum! LOL,actually it was my hubby's idea and I said yes because it's been years since I've had Krispy Kreme!

When I first started getting interested in the Gosselin story, years ago, my kids said
" mom,why do you care, those kids are not related to you, and they are not your students " and I remember telling them " if you see a crime being committed do you just drive by? The least you can do is call 911 ". That's what these blogs
did, they brought attention to the Gosselins and their exploitation of their children which helped in the cancellation of the show!

One thing I've noticed is that the kids are always smiling in their recent pictures! Remember the sad faces, and covering their faces? How times have changed!

I've been posting on this blog for 3 years now. I usually write some funny parody on Kate or offer up my analysis of their situation. I don't lift words or passages from another person's post to invent a rant about them. We all see who does. I never post a link without my commentary, but suddenly there is something sinister about such happening.

This is the only place on the internet that thinks Jon has 50/50 custody. That is extraordinary and I said before, it is blockbuster, yet here we sit being the only ones party to this information while the media continues on their Deadbeat Jon stories. That tells me Jon profits off these stories and won't do anything to interfere with the gravy train. It also suggests that he and Kate worked out that driveway scene with the kids wailing, and wanted folks to believe they were so angry at each other he wasn't permitted to drive the van up the gates. How far does this con go to suddenly get to a place where they are friends and jointly able to raise these kids?

I think the smart and funny people make this blog fun, don't drive them away.

Let's Throw Tomatoes #99 -

I know I pay $18.99 for Quilted Northern at my local Sam's Club.

My take on TP Gate - I think Khate snagged coupons for free packages of TP at the Blogher function. Maybe 10 coupons, since she mentioned 120 rolls of TP (10 x 12 rolls in a package).

And the warehouse stores don't take manufacturer coupons, so she got it at Target or Giant.

Mama Mia #130 - I disagree with your assumption that everything you read on the internet is TRUE. In this digital age, "news" outlets dredge up old fodder and publish without fact checking...one website publishes a non-truth, and you can watch it spread across several sites if the hit count goes high enough. Some of what is dredged up may have been true at one point in time, but may not be true currently.

Wayward #67 - you again have demonstrated that you are truly a kind and caring person!

That time where the kids were wailing in the van at the gate I always thought was true enough. That's what kids that age do. They wail about *everything*! Especially if there's more than one of them.

Jon's response felt true, also. Sometimes you just have to respond like that to get their attention, even though you'd prefer not to.

Who knows what they were wailing about, could have been anything. They probably wailed when Jon took them, too, cuz that's what kids that age do.

That being said, I *do* sometimes wonder just how in cahoots Jon & Kate are now. There was a time when she clearly hated his guts with every fiber of her being, and maybe still does. Who knows. But some things seem a little suspicious. :-}

My oh my how the mighty have fallen. How low do you need to be to beg for TP on the internet?
Let's look at this shall we. J&K+8 premiered in 2008 and in 4 short years she has gone from a married mother with the world at her finger tips taking all expense paid trips to divorced and begging for TP on the internet and driving hours for a free beach trip. My personal take is that she has fallen and will not rise up. Really, can you imagine a producer in hollywood even considering her?
Person #1 "I have a great show and think that I have the perfect person. She is a mother and will give us quite a draw"
Producer: "Who might that be?"
Person # 1: "It is Kate Gosselin"
Producer: "Do you mean the one that begged for TP on twitter?"
Loads of laughter follow.........

Wayward: Way (lol) to go! I would be overcome with curiosity. I agree with the poster who said kids 'change' around age 8, but the 6 are a year behind age-wise so maybe they will have a good term. It's the twins who are really in the danger-zone age. I also agree it's sad when kids lose their innocence & acceptance. I do recall Mady saying some kids tease them and report on the show etc but they have 'real' friends who are kind. Hope that stays the same- Mady & Cara as well as the other kids sadly will learn the usual social 'lessons' of preteen life. Wonder if it's harder at private schools?

Some of these mommies, although fortunately what appears to me to be a minority, seem to believe that it's admirable the more you can provide for your family for free, the better. Who am I to say no is something they fully believe in. They have no regard for any of the ethical implications. No regard for what it teaches your children. It's all about what you can get, it's not about how or what it means. They don't seem to believe in the traditional view which is work hard at a job so you can provide. If you can get OUT of that traditional model and find an easier way, that is admirable to them.
---------------------------------
I am so glad you addressed that issue. I grew up poor and on welfare at times and I have worked very hard to make sure I dont repeat that cycle poverty, including keeping my family size small so I could afford them- 1 child. I work my butt off!! I put myself through college (first generation to do so) and am still in school now, earning a master's, trying to further advance myself. I earn a good living in the military, I am able to provide for my kid- all by myself. No child support. I am putting her through college. I am so darn happy and proud to be able to pay for our necessities, and wants. I bought her car (its paid) for her graduation. I paid off my car. No freebies! No grifting! I bought a house (still paying, LOL) I pay for everything, and I donate itmes I dont need anymore, I dont believe in selling because I know there are people who are in need. I wondered if I was from a different generation that I would feel pride and accomplishment to pay my way. I can't even imagine asking for something for free. Discount, yes :) Free? Wow, that takes nerve. Thats why I loved The Farmer's wife. Juanita said she felt she didnt deserve those food stamps because it was her bad choices that got her in that mess- poor lady! Then she and Darryl paid their debts. Great people!! I wonder- is this trait gone from our society? Where did we go wrong? I will continue to instill in my kid that sense of pride in hard days work and ability to earn your way. I hope it sticks.

Upthread, someone talked about dogs on tape lines and lap lines and other fun things!

One of the things my dogs have learned is the command "OUT of the kitchen!"; when moving pots of hot things etc it is just too crowded and dangerous with the 3 of them in there. So when given that command, they sulk out of the kitchen and go to the dining room where the flooring is hardwood, and POSITION THEIR TOES right on the line of demarcation between the two rooms, then they lay down in a pout. BUT they keep the tips of their toes alllllmosssstttt on the kitchen flooring, just to be a bit defiant.

Dwindle's imaginary tape line for the doggies.

If you want to recycle and be green, donating old, stained, or worn out towels or tshirts to your local animal shelter, animal rescue group, or even a vets office is good way for theses items to have a second life. They can be used for bedding or for drying dogs after a bath.
Anything else you want to donate to your local dog shelter would be welcome too, just check with them. They can use paper towels and cleaning products, and yes probably toilet paper. One less thing to buy, so money can be spent on animal care

Kate may have more money socked away than we can ever imagine but her expenses are also huge, you know the ones like mortgage, tuition, house and grounds upkeep, legal expenses. A year post show cancellation she also has no real income, hardly anything at the level to match said expenses. Her outrageous grifting, while disgusting as it is, also does little to pay these expenses. I marvel at what must roll around in her effing brain as she now shamelessly twits and grifts as a lifestyle, her "running career" seems to be less important than the grifting.

Well enjoy this last summer vacay weekend, Kate. Fresh off a grifted vacation and with a goodly supply of grifted tp on the way, who would not want your wonderful life?

Mine said that I would claim out 2nd and 4th child, and he would claim the 1st and 3rd child. However, my ex soon fell off the face of the earth, and I received no CS for about 12 years and neither did he file his taxes. So I started claiming all 4 of them. Years later, in order to avoid jail, he went to file back taxes with the advice of his attorney, who advised him that *I* had already claimed the kids for those years. Naturally he was furious and there were threats, but even his own lawyer told him he didnt have much of a leg to stand on since he was over a decade behind in support and didnt see the kids much during all that time anyway. I guess you cant claim the deductions just by virtue of being the sperm donor; you have to actually be providing some of their care. We could have gone back to Domestic Relations court about it because I DID violate our agreement about the deductions, but apparently it paled in comparison to being 12 years and $80K behind in support.

With that said, every single case is different and every jurisdiction is different, I am sure.

As far as every jurisdiction being different though, we're talking about the federal child tax credit, so actually it's all the same!

For states that have their own separate child tax credit you'd have to read up on that to know the rules. But PA doesn't have that.

I thank amyf for telling us about the puppy cam. We have been to WCC twice to pet the puppies and have watched them grow. From their website: "Meet Holly’s Half Dozen. These six Golden Retriever pups were born on June 24th and have already begun very important work — helping to heal the invisible wounds of our Nation’s Combat Veterans. Recovering Service Members at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and the National Intrepid Center of Excellence in Bethesda, MD are engaged in the critical task of socializing the pups through puppy petting. The litter of five girls and one boy will spend the next two years lifting the spirits of Wounded Warriors and giving them a therapeutic and purposeful mission. By volunteering to train the pups through the Warrior chCanine Connection program, these Warriors will both address their symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress and prepare the pups for future lives as service dogs for their disabled comrades."

I am hoping to volunteer with this organization since we do not live too far. We have taken paper towels and supplies with us when we visit and plan on heading down again this week. The plan is for the first 2 pups to head out to their trainers around the first of September.

Thank you for this info! Many hospitals will only allow Certified Therapy dogs to visit, and it sounds like these puppies are in the first happy stages of that!!!! ... I love the info you posted about service dogs.

I recently learned that author Dean Koontz, who always writes so brilliantly about dogs in most of his books, had years ago adopted a service dog named Trixie. At age 3, Trixie had to have elbow surgery and had to be retired from service and the Koontz family adopted her. If you google it, it will all pop right up. But I had never considered adopting retired service dogs! 2 of mine right now are only age three, so I hopefully have years before I am ready to adopt again.

Kate's shameless grifting is irritating to me because of the potential backlash for the kids. Especially M&C, who WILL hear about it at school, and even though Kate will tell them that any kid mentioning it is a bully, they will still be humiliated. Besides, when you grift like Kate does, you have to settle for what you get. That treadmill is not one of the ones she said she wanted. The ones she mentioned wanting are far more expensive than what she got, but she just has to settle for what she gets. Her bread machine, which she has thanked Cuisinart and BB&B for, is not one of the better models. It gets low ratings on every site I have seen (and I didn't check because that's what she got, I looked because hubby wanted to get me one for Mother's Day). She did not get one of the better/more expensive models, she got a cheap, low-rated one. She has talked about wanting "the best" for her kids (translation: the best for herself), but that's not what she is getting. For the beach vacation, she had to settle for Alabama instead of BHI. Nope, she no longer receives "the best". That went out the window when TLC dumped her. Remember, "You get what you get and you don't get upset". She meant that for the kids, not herself, but now that's what she's living with.
I think she is very aware of the fact that she has started her second year of unemployment, and the pool of money she has is shrinking, with no real income to replenish it. I am positive the dating show she wants so badly has still not been picked up. That's why she isn't dropping more hints about it. She is angry at being ignored, so she is trying to stir things up by throwing out all the crap she has grifted, knowing that would get people riled up. Kind of like, "I may not have a big media career, but look at all the STUFF I get". She gets some satisfaction out of it, but we know she is really pi**ed that she sin't getting what she really wants ("the best").

It really is amazing when you look at how fast she has fallen. In the latter half of 2009, three short years ago, she was co-hosting The View, being named one of Barbara Walters Most Fascinating People of the Year, being told by Barbara she had a big future ahead of her, etc.

Here we are less than three full years later and she's grifting for free toilet paper! Talk about wasting golden opportunities to develop your television career you so desperately wanted/want. She did absolutely nothing to improve herself so she could capitalize on those opportunities. She was so used to being given everything by TLC for doing nothing, she thought the entire entertainment world would treat her the same way TLC had.

Moron! Enjoy that free toilet paper, Kate. I'm guessing you won't be scoring a swag bag at the Emmys this year!

When kids will be in school you have almost 10 hours to do nothing in or do something, sleep, swim. Not to mention when she is on one of her trips, she goes to the spa. GEEZ< SHE IS REALLY LAZY!

It sounds exactly what she was doing when she was lamenting about not having a beach vacation and she wanted so much to go. She got it.

It's about an hour from her home to the spa, but if it's comped, she'd do it. I'm surprised she's not searching out spas closer to home and grifting. If she had stayed in E-town, she'd only have a 20 minute drive to her favorite chocolate spa, and according to her, she'd be a much better mommy if she had spa days.

If Jon and Kate set up that wailing at the gate scene, then these kids are great actors. We could hear them in the video, and there was nothing scripted about it.

How sad she is to want a free Spa treatment at the Hershey Hotel, where all the money made from the Hotel/amusement park, candy company funds a Foundation for at risk children. Check it out on the Net folks. Milton Hershey had just his mother and she worked so hard and so did he. He built an empire and when he was alive and after he died he dedicated his empire to children. A child can attend school from 1st grade through college, live in a nice home with house parents, get medical/dental treatment, clothing, ride horses, read books, learn about right from wrong and visit with that parent(s) as long as it is good for the parent and the child. Some children do not come through the courts but are fatherless, too many children in the family. This foundation is about children, their education, psychiatric help is available, all the children have someone to talk too and yet they can try to overcome their lives and grow into fine, hard working individuals. These children have fun and I have been there. The grounds are beautiful.

So Kate the low life grifter wants a free spa treatment? How sad. She should learn about this organization before she asks for or accepts anything for nothing from a Foundation for at risk children.

She should continue to grift for toilet paper, free tee shirts (like those kids needed another shirt or DVD for free) and make bread as her pile of money slowly vanishes. Those Beverly Hills attys are probably charging a fortune too. How sad is she?

She needs a spa like she needs another pair of hooker shoes too small for her feet or another dress too short to cover her ass or another bikini to show us she still has no waist line or another bra that shows the world that the boobies are really getting lower and lower everyday.Gravity is a biatch!

As for Steve? He is lower than whale crap in my book. If he has advised her and is working off of the kid's money, then he should never find another bodyguard job ever again.

I have to laugh, will someone tell me why he was running 3 rows behind her in CHI? Like who the heck cared about her, she had maybe 3 or 4 requests for an autograph? How much does that get a person on Ebay? lol lol

Bet those kids at CC laugh everytime she shows up with that face, that hair and that skin (which is getting worse with the more tanning she does) remember when she first had the show? She had great skin like most people who live in Lancaster Cty have from nutrious meals and fresh meats, poultry and vegetables, things the kids only get at Jon's I'll bet. Good thing the kids have Jon to go to, they probably relax, laugh and have a full belly when they go to sleep at night, not have to fight for the extra hot dog or some real macaroni and cheese, huh?

Viewer, 166, I have a friend who does landscaping for 'rich people' lol, and when it is super hot, they allow the 'help' to drink from...their garden hose! Another family gave them luke- warm kiddie juice boxes ! My friend says the less wealthy are generous with pitchers of ice water or lemonade.

_______________

We have a huge mint field here, and I make mint tea for our "lawn boys." They love it, even when it's not super hot. When we had the heat wave and temps reached the 108 heat index, I told them to just wait a few days or a week (even though our lawn and weeds desperately needed a clean-up). I just couldn't stand the idea of them working outside in those conditions when waiting a bit wouldn't have mattered. Nobody should have to work outside when it is that brutally hot.

Considering that when Khate was whinging and begging for a beach holiday she already had one fully planned (for free at that), I wouldn't be surprised if she was grifting for a spa day from the massage table at said spa.

It is absolutely NOT normal for a five year old to scream and cry like they did in that video because they are coming home or a parent is dropping them off. It also isn't normal for a 10 year old to cry when her mum goes away for a night. There is something very wrong when both happen.

Admin,
At Pressi site they are saying or speculating that the Gosselin book guy got a payoff to not come out with the book. Do you have any idea if this is valid or not?

I have to laugh, will someone tell me why he was running 3 rows behind her in CHI? Like who the heck cared about her, she had maybe 3 or 4 requests for an autograph? How much does that get a person on Ebay? lol lol

Julianna, thought we aren't supposed to believe everything we read on the Internet or articles on line? Or is that just when they happen to agree with your point of view?

I've missed many posts and tweets due to family vacation, oldest's football practices in full swing, work, life, etc. so forgive me if this has been addressed.

Question 1: Did Jon shut down his Twitter?

Question 2: Did Kate ever answer the many tweets, including one from a head sheeple, asking her to confirm or deny the 50/50 custody reports? She always jumped on confirming the reports that Jon had the kids a paltry 4 days a month. If she's still ignoring the 50/50 questions, I'd say her silence speaks volumes.

Thanks for catching me up!

Michelle, apparently NO ONE can confirm the so called 50/50 custody

@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Since there was no lawsuit filed, then it wouldn't be a settlement. Is it a bribe if money exchanges hands?

I, for one, have suspected the Gosselin book would not come out. Nobody has been successful at getting the real truth out and Robert is no different. It always, always, always comes down to the almighty dollar, of which Kate has plenty to spread around to shut someone up. I wish people would just stop claiming to write the best tell all ever. Besides, Kate is rapidly on her way to alienating whatever few people still haven't figured out how truly evil she is. I don't include her few fans, they are all delusional, at best and just plain whackadoodles!

That's not true. It can be confirmed, but sources do not want to be revealed because of fear of retribution from some of those in the Gosselin camp, and because of privacy issues.

What in the hell is wrong with people who do not understand that being self-employed by contracting out is NOT being unemployed? Oops, I cursed, and I never curse! I guess my tolerance for these people has been reached.

Jon has a steeple? What church?

Sometimes you are anonymous and sometimes you use a name, but your ANGER always gives you away.

For goodness sake, give it up.

We will eventually find out the details and the truth. 50/50, child support, whatever. Wait..it will unfold just like the info on where she had her beach vacation.

Why are you so determined to convince everyone that your opinion is the accurate one?

LOL! I have two cats, but the older female is the boss and is a real diva. She will bang cupboard doors, knock things off the counter, and otherwise make a pest of herself in the night if she wants to go out or have some food. I love her despite her demanding ways. :)

I buy they treats - those little resealable pouches of goodies, and I would place them in a drawer in my kitchen used for baggies and coupons, etc. The treat bags would go missing and I would ask my son, "did you use up all the treats already?" because he liked to be the one giving the cats their goodies. He would always deny it and I would remain halfway puzzled, halfway suspicious that he was giving them too many treats.

Turns out - my female cat would go into the larger cupboard that was next to my drawers, reach her paw into the back of the drawer and pull out whatever she could reach until she got the treat bag. Then she'd take that bag and gnaw a hole in it and get out the treats. I only discovered this on a deep-cleaning day when I pulled out the canned goods at the front of the cupboard and found literally a pile of empty treat bags hidden in the back! Now the treats are placed in a tupperware dish on top of my fridge :)

So no official confirmation on the 50/50 deal. I'll take Kate's complete silence on even her top sheeple asking for confirmation as confirmation enough. If it were untrue, she would immediately reply to those tweets with a "FALSE".

So did Jon shut down his Twitter? If so, good for him.

That was a terrific article. Thanks for posting the link. Word about it seems to be spreading.

I would laugh heartily if TPgate is the scandal that finally gets Kate to STFU. Not a book, not an affair, not an IRS issue, but the grifting of TOILET PAPER.

Hahaha, it would be such a fitting 'end' to the story.

I was just about to post the same thing! Toilet Paper Gate is going to be her downfall. Who would have thought it? Word is getting around and I hope that with each wipe she does on the john, she thinks, "was this worth it?"

Layla (post #156)

I like your post, and you're absolutely right. Kate no longer gets the best! I do think she gets lots of freebies, more than we'll ever know.

But there are ways to "grift" you own freebies. for example, I sign for the email club at lots of restaurants, and during my birthday month I get quite a few free dinners (and they are not buy one/get one dinners). For example, the Keg Restaurant here in Puget Sound give you a $22 steak dinner, Famous Dave's BBQ gives you a free $15 entree; at Red Robin you get any burger free (about $11 value); Duke's Seafood gives a free dinner....and on and on. There's lots of ways to get your own freebies.

Maybe we should share here other ways to get your own freebies. :)
