On April 7 Kate tweeted this:
“@XXXX you're so energetic miss gardener:) tomorrow we plant our organic veges inside then will move outside when they sprout yay!”
However today, when someone asked if she had a garden, she tweeted this:
"no but my kids seem to think we need one"
Oh no she didn't! |
According to studies, small embellishments can have positive psychological effects. In a 2008 study, researchers found that college students who exaggerated their GPA in interviews later showed improvement in their grades. Their fiction, in other words, became self-fulfilling. "Exaggerators tend to be more confident and have higher goals for achievement," said Richard Gramzow, a psychologist at the University of Southampton in England and one of the study's coauthors. "Positive biases about the self can be beneficial." People who deceive themselves also tend to be happier than people who do not, some research suggests. There are social payoffs, too: Studies have shown that people who lie frequently are viewed as friendlier and more amiable than their more truthful counterparts.
Kate's web of lies has caught up with her time and time again, and yet something keeps driving her to keep on spinning them. Is it because it makes her happier to put up such a facade?

I'm not a kitchen gadgetty person, but I LOVE my slow cooker. It's a 3 qt. Rival, the bottom part can be used as a griddle, and if it ever goes belly up, I'll be lost. When I was working a 10 hour day, plus a 2 hour round trip commute, I could chop up veggies, etc. the night before, put them in the bowl of the slow cooker and refrigerate overnight, then take it out of the fridge and turn it on before I left for work in the morning. When I got home, I'd have a nice soup or stew or pot roast all ready to eat. Much better than a frozen dinner or a trip through a fast food drive through. Nowadays, I start it up before I go to bed and next day's dinner (or lunch, or both) is all ready for me the next morning. Right now, I have a pot of fresh-picked green beans cooking up with a ham butt, some onions and a few potatoes. I'll get a couple of meals out of it and some to freeze for this winter.

REAL FASHION REAL WOMEN 2012!!!!!!
Posted on August 22, 2012 by real0918
Celebrity stylist and media personality Derek Warburton along with Bottomless Closet are proud to host the “Real Fashion Real Women” fashion show September 12th at The Empire Hotel!! Bottomless Closet clients are diverse New York City women motivated to advance their professional lives. They will serve as our runway models, styled in looks from the top designers of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week! And
believe us, they are FIERCE!!!
For the second consecutive year, we are casting 21 REAL New York women from Bottomless Closet to bring REAL fashion to the runway, walking alongside 5 celebrity women in the “REAL FASHION, REAL WOMEN” runway show. These women, are sizes 2-12, and ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! They prove that not only do fashion designers design with glamour in mind, but that our industry cares about its real consumer… the women who wear the clothes!
http://realfashionrealwomen.com/
Can't quite figure out what this is; real women modeling beside "celebs" I guess.
It's a crummy looking website.
Also notice the skimpy food. One of the 8 divided plates didn't even have a sandwich on it.
Each kid only got:
1/2 of a hamburger bun egg salad sandwich
1/2 deviled egg
a few chips (?)
a few orange things (carrots?)
egg custard
------------------
The ridiculously small portion sized 'meals' started because the kids had to eat and re-eat, and re-eat again, for the show to get enough footage to use. It's horrible that Khate turned that into a normal meal size.
Thanks Tweet;
I wonder who the other 'celebs' are and what the pay is? It sounds a bit 'mediocre' to me!
Kate just slides from one gig until she is almost at the end of her 'fame' then another stupid job appears. seems to keep her happy in her delusional mind.
She might be good for a 'bottomless' closet look, lol.

So is Kate a real woman or a celebrity? Or neither?
Does the show include hooker wear for NYC's best dressed beck and call girls?
Dear Wayward and all the Berks county/Lancaster people. We SERIOUSLY need to someday have a get-together. It's so weird that we've been chatting w/ each other for over a year and not ever met up. Someday when we can protect ourselves from the freaky stalkers. *teehee*

One of my favorite kitchen "gadgets" is my thawing tray.
I have a small one that is just a thawing tray. I have a large one that is actually a reversible stove-top griddle/grill.
It's good for thawing flat cuts of meat, like chicken cutlets, steaks, fish or even ground meat.
I don't like to thaw my meat on the counter for obvious reasons. I also don't like it to thaw in the fridge because things come up or we end up eating out, etc.
Anyway, I can defrosting meat in 20-40 minutes. It's really handy.
Last Years event pictures. http://www.bottomlessclosetnyc.org/photogallery.html#realwomen2011 click the first photo gallery box labeled "Real Women on the Runway 2011" Last Year Michelle Salahi was there. I guess Kate is a poor man's substitute for Ms. Salahi *haha* Kate isn't even mentioned in the promo info.
Tickets are $50 plus a fee of $3.74 for processing. I'm seriously thinking about going...however it's on a Wed night and I'd have to stay over in NYC if I really wanted to. Not sure Kate is worth it, but I'm sure the charity is.

It could happen. The Nats are doing great this year. Last year they finished third in NL East, but they're really on a roll this season. Keep your fingers crossed!
Wonder what kind of comments will be written on their website
The fashion event...
Will Steve be walking on the runway with her? Time for new khakis and flip flops?

I haven't been in that one in ages, but I have wandered into the one in Quarryville when I was looking for a sleeping bag in an emergency. I noticed that over the years they've become much more "diversified" in their selections, and no longer offer just black cotton stockings! Still, that store is a real hoot."
Oh, we go there! Usually to the one in q-ville or Ephrata. They have good boots there. My dh has a thing for good strong leather work-type boots even though he's not a farmer or construction worker. Has more dang boots than I do shoes!
I will give Kate Kudos if she actually does this event without getting paid one red cent and if she pays for her own way there, her hotel and her ticket, plus makes a donation. Bottomless Closet is a GREAT charity to help the underprivileged get back on their feet.
She should be promoting this project all over twitter. Otherwise she's just in it for herself. I just made a donation to their website in lieu of a ticket to the event.
"inspirational" fashion show lol. Women can be funny.

That would be fun!
I read one of the "Real Women's" stories. Seems she had a great job and the company got involved with some illegal activity. She was fired, did several P/T jobs to make it. Now, somehow, this Derek and his exhibitionb are supposed to get her moving back to the corporate job level. Wardrobe is part of that.
Maybe the celebs model the designer's duds and the women pick what they like? I don't know, it's just an idea.
I know of several places that accept really good business wear for women who cannot afford
appropriate clothing for the job - even Goodwill prives are above some's ability. So this might be a fancy NY version of that.

The Tanning Mom, Pat something, was the guest of honor at her own comedy roast the other night. She arrived with her pot belly crammed into a tiny dress, posed on the 'red carpet' for a minute hiking the dress up to show photogs her crotch and then tried to have sex with the wall behind her before falling down. This was all before she even entered the venue. Once inside, she lasted 7 minutes before folks were literally hollering for security to remove her. On top of being incoherent, she was pretty intent on displaying her crotch. She fell down at least 4 times in the clip I saw.
My point is, lots of events invite someone for the train wreck freak show of it all, and Kate will continue to get these kinds of things tossed her way. So will Tanning Mom.
Wonder if they have they seen Kate walk in heels?
Somehow I can't feature KK on the runway. She's so awkward and slump-shouldered. I hope they give her some tips on dressing in a becoming and age-appropriate manner. I think she could be striking if she learned how to stand and move and how to dress to flatter her figure. I note that they say real women sizes 2 - 12. Guess you can't be a real woman or wear the clothes if you're more than a size 12.
Wow... some of Kate's tweeties, are just downright nasty individuals. One of the Sheeple in particular, has strayed away from the flock and gone rogue. (Rhymes with Blog Hog-- Give her hell, SG! ;)
I never got around to activating my new Twitter, after Kreidy had my original account suspended, for calling her out on her lies. My new plan was to target (hee-hee) the companies she runs the grift on. For instance, Katie sends a tweet to Quilted Northern begging for TP and... Oh yeah, that already happened. Squashed! It must have pissed her off royally to read the response from Georgia Pacific, after the public outcry.
She's been tweeting like a tween, for the past few days. She should strap on a pair of those hooker heels, get out and take a trip to the Tractor Store. She said it was filled with MEN! Go there and get one, Katie. How fun for the helper lady to do the cleaning- while Kate sits on her flat butt, tweeting all day long.

I have been kinda upset with Goodwill & some of the other "charity" thriftstores for the last few years. I have several older kids & since garage sales around here start & end too early for me, that's where I buy most of our clothes. Some of the junkiest, worn out, messed up stuff sells for ridiculous prices. (Seriously - stuff that should've been used for rags.) And then decent things are selling for equally ridiculous prices.
Yesterday, I was there with my one teenager & after he saw a run-of-the-mill baseball cap going for almost $8.00, he asked me, "I thought this store was for people who didn't have a lot of money?"
I'll still go there, because most of the time, it's still better than retail, but it's kinda depressing trying to stretch your dollar these days sometimes. :/
Wonder if they have they seen Kate walk in heels?
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
Can she walk on the runway in heels and chew gum at the same time?
Winsomeone said: "Wonder if they have they seen Kate walk in heels?"
I was thinking of that, too, lololol!!!
Anyone remember romona's runway walk on real housewives? That did not end well.
In seriousness though I really like charities tackling the big picture like trying to get people back to work. A handout may tide someone over, but a professional business suit may actually land them a job.
Haven't read all the comments but I'm thinking Deanna got her this gig. She has access to the fashion crowd in NYC and, from reading her Twitter feed, this sounds like the kind of show she'd be involved in.

Yes! I dropped some things off at a consignment shop and thought I'd look to see if there was anything of interest I could use. They had some Gymboree clothing, as well as Children's Place and Carter's, and the USED items in poor condition were several dollars more than new ones on sale at the retail stores. People buy them because they think they are saving money.
I stopped at the Good Will store out on Route 30. I sometimes check their household items because you can find new things, such as Christmas wreaths, candles, boxed bowl sets at reasonable prices, but many of those items seem to be over priced, too. I guess it's hit or miss. You never know what's going to be there.

@SuzeW718 @Kateplusmy8 They're plus-size women. They must think K8 is not too slim & trim. "Real" women is a euphemism for plus-size women.

I just went by there today on the way to somewhere else & was thinking of stopping by on the way back, but went back home a different way. Oh well, guess I'm gonna have to try to get up earlier on the weekends & see if I can find some good garage sales! :D
I don't remember Kate preparing Ol' Gramma's soup, I remember her stirring it. I don't remember Kate preparing chicken cacciatore, I remember her stirring the simmering pan and sticking it in the oven. She stirs well.
I do remember her making Monkey Munch, making pancakes (Henry's recipe) and putting waffle
batter into the wafflemaker, and doing her undercooked chicken (twice!), but that's about it.
It was the Korean meal episode where I decided I was finished with the show. I wanted to call
Jon and invite him to come live with me in a
very friendly, platonic relationship environment. I think we could be friends.
On their website I asked who the 5 celebrities were going to be at the Real Women event. I got an immediate e-mail reply of:
"The celebs will be disclosed at a later date."
What I remember about the chicken cacciatore was that she served it the divided prison trays with half a cob of corn each. Why not use a proper plate or bowl for such a meal? I remember the kids had terrible manners (sorry), picking their food with their hands, but then I don't think they had knives. One burped I think. Kate's manners as mentioned are never good- she leans forward over her food and shovels it in.
I think she can cook meals like any mom, but is no gourmet extraordinaire.

___
The children's consignment shops around me ONLY deal in high end clothes. They won't even take Kohl's clothes.
It was cheaper for me to buy the $5 shorts/t-shirts from Target.
And you would not believe the headache I had trying to donate my son's baby stuff (high chair, stroller, exersaucer, etc.) It was next to impossible, no one wanted them. I ended up giving them to a really poor local charity that offered shelter for women/children of domestic violence. And they were happy to take them!! But the others: NO WAY. I was beyond frustrated. What, I'm going to throw away a perfectly good Graco high chair and stroller???
Still burns me, sorry for the rant. I hate waste.

Kate doesnt want to advertise this fashion show....shes afraid haters will show up and embarrass her.....shes probably right....when is this thing? Is this the best her agent can do.....i guess gigs are not easy to come by for her these days....And no money for this?
Well, Kate is persistent, you gotta give her that! I am sure she is doing the charity event just to keep her name and face out there. She isn't doing it out of the goodness of her heart, she isn't inclined that way. It has to benefit her or she isn't interested.
If custody is 50/50, it's also great that it more than likely falls during his time.
Wonder how many days ahead she will have to go to NYC? ya know, hair, shopping, restaurants, hair, shopping....lol
You guys are still talking kitchen gadgets, and no one has offered to send me a white 7 qt KitchenAid mixer. You guys need to get busy!
:)
Yes, I'm still here. Due to work issues, we are leaving at 5:00AM tomorrow. Hopefully, we won't have to deal with rain for the entire 6 hour drive.
I haven't read all of the posts yet, but I just wanted to comment on Dwindle's post on the previous page.
Dwindle, I know exactly what you mean about close friends being like family. My hub's best friend (for over 35 years!) is family. My daughter considers his 3 daughters and 1 son her cousins. Heck, the kids grew up together! My daughter calls my best friend her "second mom" and she grew up with her 3 kids as well.
My brother also will come over with friends because we know them so well from all of the parties at my brothers home. We also have close friendships with families at our church. All of these people were there for my daughter's junior high and high school graduation, her baby shower, many came to her wedding in Iowa, etc. We have also attended all of the parties for the milestones in their kids' lives. It's just the way it is.
I cannot comprehend being as secluded from family and close friends as Kate keeps her children. I know our lives are much richer because of these relationships, and it's so sad that Kate's kids will never experience that. It seems like everyone in their lives is just a temporary acquaintance that mommy will cut off sooner or later for one reason or another.
Okay, rant over because I have to finish packing!
In my previous post, I forgot to mention the close relationships we have with some of our neighbors. Again we celebrate at their homes and they celebrate at ours. I don't understand how one can be part of a community and not have close relationships, or not even associate with, their neighbors.
Well I guess that sheeple sure disappeared quick after we pointed out that it was not Joel who peeled the globe at all, but a girl, and then Kate was tweeting from Parents' Night. it really is hard to understand where they're coming from and sometimes I think they know it full well.
"The celebs will be disclosed at a later date."
&&&
Sounds like PR speak for we're having trouble getting people to sign on the dotted line.
I can't even imagine Kate trying to walk down a runway. No self awareness at all. I would look silly on a runway too, so I attach myself to things that don't involve runways instead.
Also it's only two weeks away isn't the point to create buzz and announce the celebs as soon as possible? Get people excited about this or that celeb? Get their NYC area fans to go? If Kate Gosselin is all they could find sounds like they're on page 12 of their celeb wish list.
Not buying it.
Kate tweeted a while ago that M and C take care of the 'littles' showers. IMO at age 8, they should be able to manage on their own. There's really not a lot Kate needs to do that other moms don't, regardless of having EIGHT kids.
&&&
With a nanny, tutor and housekeeper? No, absolutely not.
As far as I can tell instead of cooking four chicken breasts, she has to toss in the whole package. That's the only difference. With all that extra help exactly what is so hard about eight kids as opposed to two? I bet a mom of an only child does more work than she does.
Wait a minute here - do I understand the comments correctly that Kate was asked to walk a runway at a fashion show?!?
Bwahahahahaha! She'll trip over her toes hanging off the front end of her shoes. Now I would pay to see that!!
(Sorry for the nastiness, but I just couldn't help it. She will do anything except actually get a REAL job to support her kids.)
Warmth of the Sun said "Size 12 is hardly plus size."
Unfortunately, many stores/manufacturers/designers consider anything larger than a size 8 "plus size". I went shopping with a friend a couple of weeks ago. She's really tiny - about 5' tall and weighs about 110#. We were sent to the "women's" department to find a pair of jeans for her. She needed a size 10. I expect to be sent there for clothing for myself -- unfortunately, LOL -- but she's so far from a plus size it's not funny.
Admin -- The sad thing is she only cooks 4 or 5 chicken breasts for those 8 kids. She actually bragged about it on her twitter. I don't remember exactly when it was -- sometime in the past 6 months or so, I think -- and I don't have a clue how to look for the tweet. Maybe one of the savvier posters can find it?
OT - I should be in bed, but I'm so excited to leave that I can't sleep. However, my sweet hubs is already asleep and he'll be doing the driving so I'll be able to sleep on the way there. He prefers it that way because then I don't watch the speedometer. Lol!!
Anyway, I went to our neighbors a little bit ago and gave them the rest of our eggs, milk, cheese, and fresh veggies, because it wouldn't last for the 9 days we will be gone. We also asked them to water the boys' pumpkins while we are gone and told them to go into our garden and pick whatever they want so the fresh veggies don't spoil.
Our next door neighbors are more like family than neighbors and they always watch our home when we go on vacation. And when they go on vacation, we reciprocate. However, we get the better end of the deal! When they watch our home, they get to pick the veggies from our garden. When they go on vacation (they don't have a garden), they make us wonderful El Salvador papoosas (sp?)!! They are delicious! And she makes this wonderful "cabbage salad" to top the papoosas with. She always makes this for me for my birthday. She is going to teach me how to make this when we get back. She told me it's a time-consuming process to make papoosas. I told her then it's best that she just keeps making them because after all, she is the expert! Lol!!
Pupusas. Ad they sound delicious.
Z lister fashion show in NYC - not much else on the fall agenda, hmm. Guess she didn't sign up for much volunteer work at back to school night eithet, being such a busy celeb and all.
Quiet on the twitter front = holiday weekend home alone. Maybe someone should drop off a box o'rumspringa for her.
OrangeCrush1, is that how it's spelled - pupusas? Boy, was I way off! And yes they are delicious. After she teaches me, I will post the recipe here for the pupusas and the cabbage salad to top them with.

What's everyone doing for Labor Day?
My niece is home from college for the weekend so family BBQ.
And my other niece has has a volley ball game plus other family things.
15 yr Anniversary of Princess Di's death :(
Lies by Kate:
I have to sit at home when the kids are with Jon and wait by the phone for one of them to call me and tell me they want to come home. Then shows up in Mexico
I have a purse full of bills, I am so poor. Then yells " I want Nobu, I want Nobu!"
chefsummer, family BBQs. They are the best, aren't they? Have fun!
For used clothes you might want to try eBay. My sister finds some great deals there and she's a very savvy shopper. Or there's always my standby, Craigslist. I've bought and sold things there a lot over the years. We got our $400 trampoline for $75 and the cost of a new net, so $150 total. Someone had had it for 2 years and needed to get rid of it quickly. Same thing for our playset. Normally $1100 at Costco but we got it for $300 and some minor repair by my husband.
Tamara: Sorry I made you almost spew. What can I say? I'm a 40+ year old geeky soccer mom who likes her MMOs. :-)
The "Kate" lie that really stands out to me is when she said in an interview (People?) that Jon asked for the divorce. IIRC, I believe she said something like that in one of the couch interviews. Then, in another magazine interview, she said that she was on an airplane and had an "epiphany" and knew that the marriage was over and she told Jon that.
She played the poor, wronged wife for quite awhile before her "epiphany", and no reporter who interviewed her ever asked about this. Unbelievable how inept these so called "reporters" are.
The fashion show is Wednesday September 12, 2012. Wonder if Jon gets the kids or the nanny/babysitter takes over? Kate will probaly leave Tuesday morning for "hair" and "stuff" returning Thursday. That means boobyguard will have a vacation too!
Unfortunately, many stores/manufacturers/designers consider anything larger than a size 8 "plus size"
***************
I was thinking "women's size," as in 14 Women's, (14W,Women's XL)not 14 Misses, which I don't consider "plus size." Are you saying that the size 10 was in the "Women's" (Plus) department and not in the Misses department? Sheesh!
"Well I guess that sheeple sure disappeared quick after we pointed out that it was not Joel who peeled the globe at all, but a girl, and then Kate was tweeting from Parents' Night. it really is hard to understand where they're coming from and sometimes I think they know it full well."
***************
I think the bottom line of their agenda is "Leave Kate Alone" waaaa, sniffles...and that's it.
And you would not believe the headache I had trying to donate my son's baby stuff (high chair, stroller, exersaucer, etc.) It was next to impossible, no one wanted them.
************
I think the thing with baby items like this is that so many of them have been recalled, and shops have to make certain they comply with safety codes because of liability issues. I know it's frustrating, and sometimes even social services shelters won't take them.
I don't believe for one second that Jon "asked" for the divorce. Kate would have told him if you want it, go ahead and get a lawyer and file. Kate was the one who filed, it was her call.
From everything I've read and heard, Jon was perfectly willing to stick the marriage out and try some serious counseling. We know for a FACT he went to counseling with LaFaire. It was Kate who refused and subsequently filed.
silimom, by me we have a St.Vincent de Paul's resale shop and another resale just called Thrift Store. The places are neat and organized and most clothing is $3-$4 dollars an item. Kids clothing is even cheaper. It's good quality because I've bought a few things for myself and my daughter and grandkids.
If there is one near you, you should check it out.
Admin, that was my point. Jon didn't ask for divorce. Kate wanted it when Jon wasn't willing to go along with the scam anymore.
LoveMyGrandsons, have a great vacation and enjoy your grandsons and try not to spoil them too much. Have a safe trip and don't forget to bring along some rumspringa.
To all of you here I wish you a happy, safe labour day weekend. I'm going to the apple orchard with 3 of my grandchildren,DD and SIL tomorrow and Sunday we are all going to the Hot Air Balloon Festival. I'm hoping to rest on Monday.
I can't believe that Kate will be walking down a runway. When she was running in NY with the ice cream cones her posture was atrocious. Imagine what walking in her hooker heels with her toes hanging out, no PB there to hold her up or to urge her on. I just hope someone is able to video her.
I wrote the company and asked who the 5 celebrities were and they responded with:
"The celebs will be disclosed at a later date."
________
Admin. In your post #20 you quoted my above quote from my post. But the strange thing is my post NEVER got published. Admin., where did you find the quote that I wrote in my unpublished post. Thanks for helping me understand this.
I went back and watched the video of Kate grilling. All it showed was Kate turning the chicken pieces, which were already on the grill.
Not to say that she didn't do all the cooking, and they just didn't show it....but we didn't see her mixing together the spices for the rub, or the marinating sauce. We didn't see her getting the chicken out of the packages and marinating them, carry the plate out to the grill, and load up the grill.
It's certainly implied that *she* did all those things, but since it wasn't shown, and it IS the realest of real....hmmm....
For used clothes you might want to try eBay. My sister finds some great deals there and she's a very savvy shopper.
----------------
Oh, yes! I've found some great Gymboree items, brand new with tags, for ninety-nine cents and free shipping (retail $36). You just have to know how to be a savvy shopper on there!
"I just went by there today on the way to somewhere else & was thinking of stopping by on the way back, but went back home a different way. Oh well, guess I'm gonna have to try to get up earlier on the weekends & see if I can find some good garage sales! :D"
---------
Same here! Traffic was a nightmare, but I had to get some kids' shoes at one of the outlet stores, buy one, get one half off. Maybe we passed each other along the way! If traffic wouldn't have been so bad, I would have stopped off for some Rumspringas, but since I was just there I didn't want them to think I'd become addicted!

Then she said she was on a boat to her divorce lawyers...blah blah blah
Kate lies so much she can't keep up with her lies-lol.
It's a page on TMZ of their divorce paper saying that Kate filed.

I think the thing with baby items like this is that so many of them have been recalled, and shops have to make certain they comply with safety codes because of liability issues. I know it's frustrating, and sometimes even social services shelters won't take them.
---------------------------------
From my experience with expectant mothers, they just wanted new stuff, and to be able to pick out exactly what they wanted. You dont get to do that with gently used items. My best friend was like- she actually returned almost everything from her baby shower because it wasn't what she would have picked out herself and she HAD to have what she wanted. Heaven forbid if the nursery isn't 100% matching. You made a good point about the recalls though.

I don't believe for one second that Jon "asked" for the divorce. Kate would have told him if you want it, go ahead and get a lawyer and file. Kate was the one who filed, it was her call.

Re Goodwill & thrift stores: we do have a large, well organized GW store. I like that they have flat rates for many items, say $5 per blouse. But my favorite thrift store is a small one that raises funds for cat rescue. I always find great deals. If I get something for a great price, I almost always treasure more than something I spent much more on.
Bluebird, an orchard and balloon fest with your family - it's sounds like a wonderful time! I know you will enjoy spending it with those precious grandchildren. Love to all of you and enjoy!!
Ya'll, please do not take pity on those of us who don't get together with family for holidays.
It's not so bad until I read people saying how utterly sad it is.
I grew up without a grandparent on either side,
had no aunts or uncles or cousins, either. I had a happy childhood. And now, I am the survivor of my birth family. I have a happy life.
I know you are talking about Kate, but it also speaks to me about how pitiful I must be because I sit home on some holidays. I am not sad, I don't feel like I'm missing out, I'm not
unhappy to have no plans. Actually, I enjoy my holidays just the way they are.
Had to add: I am writing this as I sit on my dark brown leather couch that I got for free on craigslist, It was free because there was a small tear in one cushion, I used fabric glue to mend the tear then topped the cushion with paisley upholstery fabric. Voila, good as new. Or in Kate-speak, mediocre.

Excuse me? I don't get what you're saying. Kate was treating Jon abominaly and I thought he deserved a place where his good efforts in preparing that meal were appreciated - even as he was preparing it.
fidosmommy, oh hon, I know no one here meant to imply that holidays are only special if you celebrate with family. They are special and everyone has their own special way of enjoying them.
From your posts, you sound like a very intelligent, happy, and content individual. That is more than many people have (especially Kate). Enjoy your holiday, hon!

Oh me too, sister! I had a nice cozy spot all ready for Jon Gosselin-- right next to my side of the bed.
Just kidding... I'm taken! Haha- besides, Jon isn't even really my type. (I'm into tall, white dudes- Well, one anyway ;)
Warmth -- Yes, the size 10 jeans were in the "womens" (Plus size) department. I buy a lot of my clothes through the WomanWithin Catalog (they're affiliated with Lane Bryant). Most of their clothing starts at a size 12. They also have a size small, which is about the equivalent of a Medium in most clothing lines. I love them because they have "petite" length slacks, jeans, skirts and dresses. It's so nice to be able to buy a pair of pants and not have to hem them a foot before I can wear them. If you're of the "short" persuasion and wear a size 12 or larger, I highly recommend their clothing. It's well-made, reasonably priced, and they have a lot of variety in styles and colors.
Okay, since no one else is posting, I'll post something silly (too many rumspringas, I guess).
At work we have a "Fun Employee Survey" board. Questions are posted like what was your favorite vacay, favorite food, etc.
Well, every question I answered and included my grandsons in it. For instance, fav hot dog toppings: I wrote ketchup with extra dill pickles is my grandsons favorite. Fav season, I wrote winter because my grandsons and I love to have snowball fights and build snowmen, etc.
So, the Human Resources manager got a kick out of these comments and said she was going to test me to see if she could come up with questions that I couldn't relate to my grandsons. So far I haven't been stumped, but I will admit I've had to do some stretches to handle this! Such as:
Favorite winter olympic sport - toboganning because my grandkids love sledding.
Favorite olympic athlete - Mark Spitz because my grandsons love swimming.
Fun questions, silly answers all in fun. I was told when I come back from vacation, there will be a question on the board that will be difficult to bring my grandsons into. I said I was up for the challenge.
See the comments I make after too many rumspringas?
I had to go back and watch the Korean dinner episode because it was brought up earlier today. So that's where Kate 'uddered' the infamous "If you have to follow a recipe you're not a true cook" statement. I didn't realize that.
She also told Collin "you eat like a pig" and bitched about how long it took Jon to chop an onion. Jon wasn't comfortable because Kate beaked on him relentlessly and he seemed worried about the mess he was making in Kate's kitchen. What a happy family they were. Kate had the nerve to say she didn't want to discourage Jon from cooking. WTH? Then she had a helper Jenny come and watch the kids while she helped Jon get the dinner finished.
Oh yeah - it inspired her to cook Korean for a week afterwards. She will not be outdone. I forgot just how nasty she was to that man.
I googled the Bool Kogi recipe because it looked so good on the show, but Kate didn't want him to share the ingredients. I think I'll make it next week.
Read that again KATE. JON'S FOOD LOOKED AMAZINGLY AWESOME. I'M GOING TO COPY IT. HAHAHAHAHA. And my family will shriek with delight.

You'll love bulgogi, and it's pretty easy to make. Just Korean bbq, which is different than our American 'Q.
I think Kate's most offensive comments was... well.. there was were First, she gloated when she said she wasn't going to share the recipe. Big whoop, ever heard of the internet? Not hard to find and it's actually pretty popular in many regions. Next was Kate (once again) correcting Jon on his pronunciation of the dish. Jon referred to bulgogi as "Go-kee", evidently how his family says it. Kate told Jon "that's not how we say it!". What? It's Jon's Korean dish and you're going to tell him how to say it?
If DH told me how we're going to pronounce my Polish stuffed cabbage, I'd never make his Grandma's meatballs for him again!
When I was in my early 20's I went into Lane Bryant one day. I was asked if they could help me. I said I was looking for bathing suits. She said For who? I said For me. I had no idea it was a plus size store. I was 98 lbs. It was pretty funny.
"Dear Wayward and all the Berks county/Lancaster people. We SERIOUSLY need to someday have a get-together. It's so weird that we've been chatting w/ each other for over a year and not ever met up. Someday when we can protect ourselves from the freaky stalkers. *teehee*"

I'm definitely in. Anyone interested in Gring's Mill on Sept. 8 for the Yes I Can run??
OrangeCrusher1, I live in a neighborhood that is very diverse ethnically. Due to our friendships with the neighbors, I've had wonderful dishes that I never tasted before. For instance, I always thought tacos were with ground beef. I never had a true Spanish taco until neighbors moved in down the street and invited us for a BBQ. They make tacos with thinly sliced seasoned and grilled steak and chicken breast. Their homemade refried beans are to die for!
To reciprocate, we've had some neighbors over on St. Patricks Day and they had their first taste of corned beef and cabbage; they really liked it and took home leftovers.
I've been introduced to many new foods that I've never had before, thanks to my great neighbors. And we have introduced them to new foods as well.
Our BBQs are quite a smorgasbord of different foods, and we love it!
Grandsons - They will do forward and backward flips around the house I'm sure. I'll get a twitter account and RT the tweets that say what a wonderfully amazing cook I am! Oh I am so excited.
Tucker's - It looks like just a basic asian marinade, doesn't it. I don't know what the big secret was that Kate thought was so special. What a tit.
Grandson's I agree with SG. You sound like a terrific grandma. Your grandson are lucky lads.
That was very sweet, SG, thank you! I'll keep you posted on the questions. Enjoy your holiday and stay safe. Back to my rumspringas! (Boy, I wish I had never attended that last party because now I'm addicted!!)

a tit (snickers). Are you missing a "w" in the middle or an "s" on the end? I'm watching Veep On Demand and my snark level is way up and I'm dangerously close to dropping the F bomb an extraordinary number of times.
Although, I don't think I could make that combination nearly as funny as this cast does.
No Tucker's. I meant TIT.
lol.
I've never seen Veep only read about it. It must be good, Julia Louis-Dreyfus is great in anything she does.
Thanks, Auntie Ann. After that compliment, I'm now going to do cartwheels to my kitchen to get my next rumspringa! Nah, I'm really going to do tumbles because I would end up in a hospital if I did cartwheels!!
If DH told me how we're going to pronounce my Polish stuffed cabbage, I'd never make his Grandma's meatballs for him again!
____________
My mom (PA Dutch) always pronounced them "goopies," and we all knew what she meant, and they were so good!
SG, loved your story about accidently shopping at Lane Bryants. I wish I could say it was accidental for me as well, but I have no choice but to go there!! CAn you imagine a pudgy Polish grandma trying to wear the stretchy skirts and pants they sell at Target?!? Lol!!!!
I don't want to go walking hand in hand with Jon into some sunset. Good heavens. I think he seems like a really nice person who got a bum deal in that house. I was only saying that
my house is peaceful and he could cook in peace and do whatever Jon likes to do - in peace.
I still don't get why that has anything to do with sheeple and Kate (except Kate was the reason I thought Jon needed a place to be at peace.)
I am nearly 6' tall. When I shop for pants I have to buy short. I've asked the sales reps about this and they told me that they are being cut longer now because of boots. Thoe who wear boots need them longer, everyone else hems. I actually had to hem up 2 pair of short pants last spring.

I went down Route 30 to the intersection at the Hess Station around 10:40ish - once I passed East Town Mall it was bumperTObumper with ALOT of tractor trailers. It was horrible! I went back home via route 340 which still had alot of traffic, but at least no tractor trailers!!
Were you there around that time?
Fido you seem happy and well adjusted. I just don't get that sense from Kate. She doesn't seem content being alone. And yet she doesn't seem content not being alone either. She is basically a discontented person.

I swear, my brain uses its own form of "autocorrect" when I read some of these blog comments, because I read right over the mistakes sometimes, mentally inserting the "right" word & I don't even notice until someone corrects their comment, lol!
LancasterCounty, by tractor trailers, are you referring to semi trucks? I know there are different terms in different parts of the country and I am not familiar with them.
When we drive to Iowa, we eventually have to get on I-80 for the last 3 and a half hours. That highway is loaded with semi trucks and the way some of them drive scares the heck out of me. I will mention again that my hubs is a truck driver, which is why he drives to Iowa and not me.
To make things worse (in my opinion) the speed limit is 75 miles an hour. In IL it's 55 miles an hour. Needless to say, I prefer to sleep when we are going to Iowa, and my husband prefers I do that as well!

Not that I have anything against Jon but if I had the choice, I would choose Ryan Gossling to come over at my house to live platonically, doing very platonic things in a tight white t-shirt and jeans while I just watch him in platonic awe. (Sigh... And another round of rumspringa....)
Auntie Ann #90 - you cracked me up with that one!!!! I spit the last of my rumspringa all over my coffee table. Now you owe me one.
LoveMyGrandsons: I had to look it up on google, but yes, that's what I mean. If a tractor trailer is also called a semi truck, what would be a "full" truck?
OH, I had so many around me, coming right at me & along side of me at the one light that I was waiting to turn left at, it was scary! As one passed me on my left side, I actually put my hand in the car from where I had been resting my arm on the door. Almost felt like I could've reached out & touched that truck!!
I think you are wise just sleeping through that kind of stuff since your dh is an experienced truck driver!!
Auntie Ann! I could read that, lol!
I could read it too, AA and Lancaster.
Organza -- For me, it would be Jeffrey Dean Morgan, or maybe Tom Selleck, LOL. Not so sure I want it platonic, though (she says, blushing like a tomato).
Grandsons/Lancaster - that's a word jumble experiment I copied from a java script developer's (James Padolsey) blog. Interesing isn't it? It true, it's not hard to read.
We can rest easy with our typos now.
LancasterCounty, kinda scary to think of what would be a "full truck", isn't it?
I sleep because the hubs is an experienced driver. However, I also sleep because sometimes I think he thinks he's still driving a semi instead of a mini van!
Okay, I'm trying to stay up like I always do when we're going to Iowa. I get so excited about going to see my grandsons that I can't sleep. Then I get tired around 12:00 AM and I know I can't go to sleep because then I'll never get up at 3:00 AM.
So around midnight, I'll take my shower which wakes me up some, then blowdry my hair specifically to wake me up. Then I'll have a couple cups of coffee and then pack the cooler.
By this time, I'm getting a second wind that will last until I lay my head on the backrest in the minivan.
So, I'm sure you're all wondering what my point is to this post. Well, it's simple: please converse with me so I don't miss my ride to Iowa!! Lol!!!
"Maybe we should all get together for breakfast. Haven't been to Persey's in awhile. Last time I was there I wasn't impressed. Has it gotten better?"
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
I haven't been there this year! I hope it's still okay. I've never been disappointed, except for the long line on weekends. I like their cheese and mushroom omelets and potatoes. They also have great fried egg sandwiches. It's good for breakfast, but I haven't had any of their lunches.

Hi Love My Grandsons! I am still up too! I have finished washing the laundry and now have to finish putting it away. I have tote bag packed with linens, towels, toiletries. I have my gardening tools so I can trim the shrubs down at the nags head house. Now have to pack a small bag with clothing and bathing sits for me and dh. In the am I will pack things for the dogs, grab some drinks from the fridge and put on a cooler for the ride. Dh with the Achilles repair started physical therapy this week and can walk on the leg some with his air cast on, so he will be able to get down to the beach!
I an hoping I can get up at 7 and run to the dump before we leave. I like to come home to a clean house if possible.

Oh, I'm sorry - I had to go pack a lunch for one of my kids for tomorrow for work (peanut butter & raisin sandwiches, a HUGE orange, a bag of pretzel nuggets, & a bag of carrots with mustard) and work on the laundry. You're probably blowing your hair dry about now. :)

Hey, did y'all know that tonight is a blue moon? it is.the second full moon of the month! I took the dogs out a little while ago, the moon is just lovely! I an glad it is high, that is one big ugly spider! I swear the thing is three inches in diameter.
Hi, JoyInVirginia! First of all, I never did thank you for hosting the last party. It was the first one I went to and I had a great time!
Our drive will be around 6 and a half hours. I don't have as much to do as you do. For me it's just that I get so wound up to see the grandsons that I can't sleep. I've already taken my shower and almost everything is packed except the food items.
We will get up at 3 so we can leave by 5. That way we can spend most of the day with the grandsons. If I don't get my second wind before then, I'll definitely get it once we get there!
Have a safe trip and enjoy your holiday!
I haven't been to the site all day, and I just stopped in to catch up a little before bed. I see that there has been a bit of a disagreement with "Mediocre Mom" the past couple of hours. I don't recall having seen anyone else with a name similar to mine on here before. I just wanted to say that it was not me who made the previous comments. LancasterCountyMom, I was only joking. I hope you took it that way. Enjoy your holiday weekend!

It IS pretty, isn't it, Joy? I was driving home earlier shortly after it had risen in the early evening sky & wished I could have taken a picture, but my battery wasn't charged.
Those spiders can be quite the stinkers - the other night I went running out the front door to take one of my dogs out & the spider who had just had a web in a corner by the door had decided to take over the whole door! I ran smack into its web. Blech!

jc, yes, you are right; Kate didn't make a big deal about the globe. Her entire blog post that brought this unknown incident to everyone's attention, was simply our collective imagination.
I disagree... I think Jon's behavior was... he was taking a stand on stopping the filming! I believe TLC advised her to get rid of him " ie: divorce" and they could continue on with Kate plus 8.
hence Kate had to move quickly, and likely stated that Jons behavior was detrimental to the livlihood of herself and her children. She has crafty lawyers.

Adult female women also are made fun of for thinking the same thing because let's face it, those one or two uber-haters who hate her with a vengence are just plain strange. they see themselves being instrumental in destroying Kate and by that her kids and they are not hesitant about telling Kate and anyone who will listen. Yes, they are made fun of because it's just so bizarre.

jclentie - are you Kate?
Kate tweeted...
"And Mady is sleeping in my room: Me:where are u? M: on the mini couch! Me: it's called a chaise lounge M: oh, rrright, the mini couch! Lol!"... about an hour ago
_______________________________________
What's the deal with Kate constantly re-creating petty conversations she has with M & C? It's so bizarre.
Undoubtedly, Katie's prized chaise lounge was another grifted freebie piece, taken from the Lane Furniture secret contract, we recently learned of. She thinks she's so cool... only in the 80's glitter fluorescent leg-warmers kind of way.

August 31, 2012 10:44 PM
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Jon didn't quit the show and stop the filming until quite a bit later. And only after TLC wouldn't allow him to get paid for wearing the ed hardy shirts or other venues like vegas.
Hmm, wonder why Mady is sleeping on the mini couch...errr...chaise lounge and not in that huge king size bed with kate???
Actually, why am I even wondering about this?
Oh right, cause Kate just tweeted it to the whole world.. anyone who wants to see it can.
Nah, no disagreement. More like complete denial re: their Jon stalking/adoration.
------------------
Agree. Complete denial.
See y'all Sunday or Monday. Labor Day weekend is a time for family. Try not to miss me too much!
No, Jon was not wanting to continue with filming prior to the end of the season. In the episode before the BIG announcement, Jon spoke on the couch about not being just Jon anymore, he was now Jon and Kate plus 8. Kate said she enjoyed the filming, and they had some "ironing" to do!
Jon was already voicing his opinion about not doing another season. They had a few weeks to figure things out. But in tv world those few weeks had already gone by and the divorce was being announced.
Yes, it was later, that Jon actually did put up an order to cease filming.
Oh, jc, you're not going to check out before responding to my post #126, are you? Yeah, I thought so.
if you can not see the note in the upper right hand of your screen at 41:12 then you need to slow the screen shot down, get a new computer or get glasses!
============
In the video I'm looking at, it's at 41:42. You can't miss it.
JC, why don't you stay at your own site? Do you really think you will change ANYBODY here?
I don't post often but sheeple like you make me want to because I know it bugs you so much.
I worship Jon and pray to the "no worry, beef currie" gods.
Lovemygrandson....doesnt look like jc's gonna be commenting again. Yep stops in and stokes the fire then when the heat gets hot she cant stand it and has to leave. I see she likes to use her family as an excuse too, just like Kate.lolll
Didnt asnwer your question, and couldnt see the note in the episode Home Roost. Too bad, I had a rough day at work and was up for a good disagreement with someone...
better her then my hubby...lol..
I wasn't being snarky - I'm really asking if jclentie is Kate.
The Sheeple stalked Jon. They are the reason he quit Twitter. Goody was a total jerk. Tweeting him on a daily basis, although he respectfully asked the public not to discuss his children... or Kate.
My thoughts are- Jon also decided to close his Twitter account, because he does not have time to tweet now with the rumored shared custody.
Fleecing the Sheeple: Thanks for pointing that out, my finger must have hit the wrong key.
Kristine: I think Kate writes her conversations like that, because a lot of the kids do that on facebook or twitter, but usually they have pretty funny conversations. Mady does have a good sense of humor though. I think Kate thinks she's hip and a hit with the tweens so that gives her licence to speak the language!
I have done it once or twice when I have had a pretty funny conversation with my kids ( one where they roll their eyes and say I am lame ..LOL..)but realize to do that too often is then " just not a mom thing to do".
Kate tries to hard to look young and it just makes her look old and desperate.
Love my grandsons, have a safe trip! Hope you have lots of fun with the guys. I was so glad everyone had such a good time at the party! I was simply exhausted ish when it was over!
Blessed to be Mediocre Mom,.I love your avatar! Very clever.
Well, I am just about packed. As soon as older dd gets here in the am we are off to nags head! Dhs brother is down at his place already, we are going out on his boat. And a work friend and her family are at their place, hopefully we can get together. And there is one cousin I have not seen in ages, she and her husband moved to Kitty Hawk couple years ago but they still have place in Virginia beach too,, we are always missing each other. So maybe we can visit.
Prices and interest rates on the OBX are still great, and the rental market is pretty good. We have rented our place enough this year to cover the mortgage, that makes us happy!
See y'all Sunday or Monday. Labor Day weekend is a time for family.
--------------
Isn't Sunday part of Labor Day weekend, and Monday IS Labor Day
Just to clarify: my dh s brother has a small boat that is kept on the sound side, where the water is generally calm and it is quite shallow on most of the sound. Many years ago the dh went out on a deep sea fishing trip out in the Atlantic, and he became violently ill for most of the trip. He has told me, it was the most ill he has ever been.
he can go out on the sound just fine, not as much rocking and rolling.
Jclentie said,
"Everything you posted above is speculation and opinion."
And then said, "I'm speculating that Jon had already taken the money out that he eventually had to return."
Lentie speculates and it's fine; a regular poster speculates and is called out on it. Do sheeple hold the exclusive rights on speculating?
Sleepless: ooohhh, I wanted to say that tooo! EXACTLY my thoughts. Labor day "weekend" is a time for family, but she will be back Sunday.
jc talks katespeak!
Heide, I think you are a very perceptive! Maybe, maybe not, maybe someone else... Doesn't matter really.
Everyone have a nice night! If you can't sleep, go outside and look at the moon. Take your bug spray, west Nile is out and about.

Meh who cares.
A Beatle song just for them (Eleanor Rigby)
All the lonely sheeple, where do they all come from?
Look at all the lonely sheeple
All the lonely sheeple, where do they all belong?
The hubs just woke up so hopefully we'll be leaving earlier than expected. That's good for me because now I just want to sleep (that'll be in the van on the way to Iowa).
I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday weekend! God bless.
I'm too tired to agree line by line with everything JC said so forgive me for just saying I agree with it ALL. ALL OF IT!!!
JC PLEASE post more, more more so we can agree more.
I love the debate over who made a bigger deal about the globe. Keep it coming!
The fact that a post is even done on a globe peeling in and of itself is making too big of a deal. It's a GLOBE.
I'm too tired to agree line by line with everything JC said so forgive me for just saying I agree with it ALL. ALL OF IT!!!

I tried, admin, and others did, too! :) Mediocre Mom popped on here trying to stir things up, and she met with agreement also! It's funny that both of them showed up at the same time!
JC PLEASE post more, more more so we can agree more.

She's gone until Sunday because Labor Day weekend is for families. Sunday isn't part of the weekend!
What's the deal with Kate constantly re-creating petty conversations she has with M & C? It's so bizarre.
&&&
She wants to prove the kids are with her. This is the FOURTH weekend folks she is acting like they are with her. If, according to Kate, everything is the same, what the heck happened to all of Jon's weekends? LOL.
The stuff she relays isn't funny. Mady has proven herself far funnier than Kate makes her out to be.
Oh darn I have plans to go to church Sunday eat chili and ride the roller coasters until I puke. I don't want to miss anything. If the drivebys could please wait until we complete our normal labor day weekend stuff I would appreciate it. Really late Monday night would be best when labor day stuff wraps up. Sunday is when it's just getting started.
On another note: COLLLEGE FOOTBALL HAS STARTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've decided. Fall is my favorite season. Football, food, Thanksgiving, cooler weather. Bring it on!
Have any Marylanders been to FedEx field? I would love some tips on which seats are the best for a big birthday.
JoyinViginia - of course you may borrow the 1980's era heirloom faux ultra suede brown Lazy-Boy recliner/spaceship! I've steam cleaned it, so it's all ready for you. You've made a wise choice in fulfilling your transportation needs :). You'll have the option of purchasing a signed 8 1/2 x 11 glossy of rocket man lifting off. It says "suck It NASA" only $20 for a lasting memory of your journey....
Preparing for the party I decided to bake brownies. Took all day. I began by using the 1980s era heirloom faux ultra suede brown Lazy-Boy recliner/spaceship to travel to South America for the finest, freshest cocoa beans to prepare the sinfully rich chocolate. Next on to Jamaica for superior minimally processed organic sugar. Picked up some kick-ass rum while on the island. A hop over to Mexico for the finest organic vanilla bean pods and organic vanilla extract. Picked some walnuts and shelled them for the brownies. Last stop at a local organic farm to gather some organic free range eggs - strict organic vegetarian fed. I pulled out the butter churn and churned some sweet organic butter. My sack of Bob's all purpose gluten free baking flour was on the counter ready to go.
I mixed all the ingredients in a large bowl carefully, making sure not to over mix. A preheated conventional oven (my new jenn air modular downdraft stove with the interchangeable cooktops - electric coils and radiant cooktop modules plus the grill /griddle bay. Set at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes resulted in the perfect chewey brownies. Recipe made 24 bars, but I carefully cut them into 108 brownies with my wustoff slicing knife. Drizzled the tops with extra dark chocolate.
These will be so good with a cup of Jamaica blue mountain coffee (certified). I can't wait to share them!
All that traveling, prep and baking wore me out, GN lovely ladies!
What did I miss? Am I the only one that didn't take that so literally?
When I say I'd love to have tea and crumpets with Betty White it doesn't mean I'm really serious about it or intend to write her, tweet her, or otherwise contact her/stalk her to make it happen. It just means I'm fond of her think highly of her think she's funny. Isn't that a common expression? It is here. "I'd love to have him at my table" means you like someone. I get the impression however when some of Kate's fans contact her to try to set something up they are very literal.
Flight of the Kiwi, you are certainly gracious! Thank you for the loan of the 1980s era heirloom faux ultra suede brown Lazy Boy recliner spaceship! Everyone will be so JELLUS of me!
Admin, what sheeple? What drive bys? I didn't see anything! I was busy last night chatting up Loves My Grandsons and taking my dogs out and admiring my garden spiders. Besides, I am sure the sheeple are having too much fun to bother coming over here.
Who is this cj of whom you speak? No one named Mediocre Mom over here, only Blessed to be Mediocre Mom. Now, no sheeple here. These are not the Droids you seek. Move on.
Wow, that was close! Flight of Kiwi, the 1980s era heirloom ultra suede brown Lazy Boy recliner/ spaceship has amazing powers! It has the power to fly over posts that are irrelevant and uninteresting! Since Ms Kreider is incredibly boring AND shows contempt for teachers and other parents by tweeting during back to school night, any posts by her/ about her are automatically teleported over!
Up and of to load the car! My dh and dd will not fit on the magic 1980s recliner, so we have to drive to nags head. But I love long drives! A chance to see the beauty of nature and interesting people places and things!
Just went on Real Fashion for Real Women's facebook page and they have announced Kate as one of their celebrity role models to walk in their show. They also have Aviva Drescher from Real Housewives Of NYC. I just don't understand the role model reference nor the celebrity reference since Kate is neither. They have a photo of Aviva there helping out with fittings for the show. That is what a true celebrity does when invited to do something for charity. THEY LEND A HELPING HAND!! Do you hear that Kate. Nope, she'll show up, grab any freebies they may be giving away, drink up as much wine as she can and be gone.
Blogger ate my comment! Flight of the Kiwi, thanks for the use of the 1980s era heirloom faux ultra suede brown Lazy Boy recliner! Did you know it also magically transports me to interesting posts about travel, books, gardening, recipes and party plans? Tell your dh that is some spaceship he has!
Everyone have a terrific weekend! I hope everyone who posts here can find time to do something fun over the holiday weekend. Get outside and enjoy nature if you can, it always gives me a lift to just look at some of the amazing things in the world around us!
I have two gorgeous garden spiders guarding the front flower bed, the big pretty yellow and black ones. Its fun just to sit and watch them sometimes. They have beautiful intricate webs.
Seriously, we have to have a kumbaya rumspringa!
Haven't been able to post for a while. Hi everybody.
Re: the 5 ft tall 110lb person taking a size 10 pants in the women's dept. I am about the same height, weigh less than 110, and can't wear anything in women's. I know that 110 lbs can be distributed a lot of ways, but in a size 2, my pants fall down. Literally. Can't buy at Walmart, Costco etc because they don't have anything small enough. I'm short too. It's really difficult to find anything that fits. Guess I look in the wrong places.
Like Fido, I don't have much family and don't spend holidays with them anyway. My sister's husband makes me so uncomfortable I turn them down. I live in the big city now and find it hard to find activities I like. I liked the smaller community I lived in where they had festivals or other events almost every weekend. I really enjoyed myself. I would like family, I think, but that's the way it is. I take care of my husband who can't go anywhere so I'm stuck. I wish he had health.
Of course lying makes you feel good when that is how you make yourself feel important, entitled and better than anyone else.
She should learn that talking the way her 'twitter tweenies' do is cute for them, for her looking fifty while actually pushing 40, NOT SO MUCH!
Most people don't hate her, they are disgusted by her. Big difference, hating takes some sort of caring, while disgust just takes witnessing.
I really seem to miss a lot of conflicts when i turn off my computer for the night! Last evening we had an emergency electrical problem- lights flickering, things going on & off, clicking sound near switches- while it was after hours, the electrician said better to call him than 'the other guys' meaning the fire dept! True! (It was water in the circuit breakers which rusted them)
Anyhow. I see Kate has tweeted GM around 9AM but says she got up[ at 7:30. Whatever! The bit about Mady sleeping on the ;chaise lounge' sounded very pretentious to me. Who knows where Mady slept and why but I think Kate just learned this term- she's been showing off her Spanish so now French?
As for these drive-by posters, just ignore them- they want an audience, just like you-know-who!
Barber . . . Obviously you DO care or you wouldn't be posting about Kate. Duh
heather and others:
A garage sale might help you get rid of baby/child items and have them go to people who will use them. If you have the original instruction brochures, all the better. You can tell the buyers they can have a safety check on car seats done free by the police I think? If you don't need the money, you can send the proceeds to a shelter etc.
I used to get amazing deals on baby toys and clothes ( name brand, Kate!). Just made sure to bleach/wash everything. I know it was also frustrating when consignment shops would not take what I considered great items, like some European clothing for the kids, worn only a couple of times.

Re portion sizes of meat Kate uses for the children, i remember the tweets back and forth, I think with Milo. She said they were eating more meat, up to 3-4 from 2-3 pieces of chicken they used to eat. I'm just having a hard time grasping the idea that 2 chilcken breasts feeds 8 kids! What did she do? Dice them up into really tiny pieces? Mash them? In my family I actually give one piece for each family member, or 2 if they came out smaller than I thought they were. For 8 kids, I would have used 3 or 4 times what Kate uses and have leftovers too!
I came on here because I'm waiting for laundry to finish and wanted to pass the time. Family is sleeping so I have the house to myself!

I live in a dev so garage sales are out. I do craigslist, but nobody wants to by used baby stuff. Which I find really odd, as that is where I bought a lot of my stuff (no family, no baby shower, had to buy everything ourselves). I was hunting on a daily basis to get the things we needed because to buy them new was ABSURD. Some items I choose to buy new simply because of wear and tear, like the high chair.
The items I posted with pics were in very good condition, clean, recognizable brands, etc. No takers, EXCEPT for a few drive by emails looking to get the items cheaper, without looking at them. I spoke to FIVE different charities before I could get a taker because of liability. It just sickened me because I was at the point of throwing out $500 worth of items because I couldn't even give them away.
I also found out that even when charities accept baby items, some just throw them directly into the trash.
The whole experience just shows how disposable, consumerist(sp??), litigious we've become. There was not a thing wrong with any of the items. But god forbid someone use it before you. We will die in a plastic covered world.
heather
Sometimes community centers or churches hold multiple family sales- maybe you could find out? I agree it's wasteful for this stuff someone desperately needs, to go to waste. I find charities are so picky- won't take many items.

Somehow I can't feature KK on the runway. She's so awkward and slump-shouldered. I hope they give her some tips on dressing in a becoming and age-appropriate manner.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I wonder if they will teach her how to walk with her knees together. She clomps like a linebacker.
Kate, keep your knees together. There is a reason they call it one foot in front of the other, and not each foot on an opposite side of the aisle.Practice walking on one your bizzare tape lines.
@Heather; that is horrible about the baby items. So much of MY baby stuff was 2nd hand and I was thrilled to have it and there was never any kind of injury. Among my group of friends and family, new grandmas are snapping up the 2nd hand stuff rather than have young parents lugging all that with them for every visit, they way *I* used to LOL! So many new grandmas now want car seat, crib, highchair, potty chair, etc at their own homes and 2nd hand is the way to go!
"Liability". pppfffttt.

Bingo. Totally agree that TLC advised her to get rid of dumpy boring Jon (her opnion of him by then), and they would make her a stah.
Hi,
Whenever I feel the urge to take the bait from an invader-type sheeple on this site I remember two expressions from an old Irish friend of mine. The first, is when you realize there is NO way that person will listen to your point of view. I remind myself not to "waste my sweetness on the desert air". The second expression relates to ending a fruitless debate and it's "this fire has burned to the water's edge". Recalling those thoughts, combined with a few deep breaths, keeps me out of the pasture.
Border Collie....I can relate, I am 65 years old and 5' tall. Finding Petite clothing is a nightmare. Because I am short does not mean I want sparkly cat pictures on my t-shits. There seems to be a much better selection in the US, but in Canada, not so much.
The refusal to take baby items just proves my point about how paranoid and litigious we have become. We hear one scary story about a broken high chair tray and a kid falling out and all of a sudden NO MORE USED BABY ITEMS. Now, perfectly decent baby items are in the trash, and mothers on a budget are spending more than they can afford for new things.
I totally agree with Heather, there is nothing wrong with these items.
@fostermom62 tis very sad when we consider either a sleep in, eh? :) have a gr8 weekend too! We have stuff planned how bout u? about 2 hours ago
&&&
Yeah, stuff planned, like the kids going to Jon's.
Aviva Drescher sweet! Hope Kate doesn't say anything awkward about her prosthetic leg like Romana always does.
Aviva Drescher's father is quite possibly the most perverted old man ever. And the funniest.
Mel (167)
Funny how TLC advised Kate to get rid of dumpy, boring Jon and they would make her a stay, and then just over a year into Kate+8 they dumped HER. Just desserts, eh?

Well I guess that sheeple sure disappeared quick after we pointed out that it was not Joel who peeled the globe at all, but a girl, and then Kate was tweeting from Parents' Night. it really is hard to understand where they're coming from and sometimes I think they know it full well
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
BOY did I ever notice that! As soon as we told her to reference Kate's own blog post on how the kids all VOTED to proclaim Joel guilty, and how proud Kate was that she berated him, we never heard from that Sheeple again! And just in case sheeple-fingers started twitchin' to post some other nonsense here, Kate poved our points by TWEETING (for the love of heaven) during her children's school event!!!
Boy, is that sheeple's face red!!! But have no fear, she'll be back, full of indignation and name calling and the oh-so-typical 14 year old "You are all so MEAN to me!!!"
Dwindle the funniest was their insistence Kate is not so bad of a mom and a demand for examples of Kate being a bad mom, but when given an example not just from that day but from that very hour, instead of trying to explain how that's not an example of Kate being a bad mom, reverted back to the mantra LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE! So I guess they agree she's a bad mom, but we should just leave her alone.
So the point of asking for examples was? To point out we should leave her alone?
I am less annoyed with the sheeple as time goes on and more just amused. And agreeing with them is funny.
Blowing in the Wind -
I am enjoying how very agreeable you are being!!
Admin, I also find the agreeing amusing and somehow very satisfying. There is really nothing to argue about when someone agrees with you!
Re:
Globe-gate and Joel. That was so mean all-round, but what was worse, was that Kate said she promised not to tell anyone that Joel was innocent, if I read that correctly. She said a little girl did the deed, and she apologized to Joel in private, but no mention was made of clearing Joel's name to the others. Maybe she did, but it was not clear. Poor 'Joely,' always the scapegoat.
From Kate's website-
" And I had one last request: I told her that I would not tell anyone else that it was her, but that she needed to quietly go to Joel and apologize for letting him “take the heat” for her because everyone assumed he had been the culprit. She agreed… hugged me really tight and ran off to play…
Call me Crazy I AGREE.
Formely Duped, not only was that terrible to not clear Joel's name but it's terrible the way she allowed everyone to gang up on him an accuse him with NO EVIDENCE other than a "look"! Good Lord. The kid probably gave the look because he saw it coming again, I'm getting blamed AGAIN. It would be one thing if they dusted for fingerprints and saw his paws, or if Joel's story of where he was when the globe peeling happened didn't add up, or if Joel were the only one who ever played with it, but this piling on poor Joel was based on NOTHING. What a head case to let kids do such a thing.
Why is it that the guilty part gets to remain anonymous, but the innocent party gets to be tarred and feathered and forever remembered by the rest of the kids as the one who peeled the globe. And next time when something goes wrong will they recall Joel's criminal record and probably blame him again.
The whole incident was so mental and anyone who thinks it's okay is mental, period.
I totally agree with Heather, there is nothing wrong with these items.
-------------------
I think it depends on the item. There may be nothing wrong with them to the naked eye, but what if you had received a crib that you didn't know was part of a nation-wide recall -- one where the moveable side could collapse and strangle a baby and had caused infant deaths? Or a stroller without a safety latch that could cause a baby to become caught if it folded? Would you want it?
I agree that there are many good, usable items that parents need that may be dumped in the trash, but what if one of those car seats hadn't passed the safety test and didn't tether properly? Is it really worth it when it comes to our children?
But some places so be TOO picky. I had a perfectly good almost new pediatric full mattress that my son didn't like because he said it was too firm. I called one of the homeless shelters to come and get it because I knew they could certainly use it. It was in nearly new condition. I think he only slept on it about a dozen times. According to their regulations, it had to have a tag on it showing it had passed the non-flammable test. The "wording" on the tag wasn't to their liking. I had the warranty card and receipt, which showed it indeed was non-flammable. That wasn't good enough. They refused it. Was I upset? Yes! I never donated to them again because I was so ticked off. I did find an organization that was happy for it.
Midnight when I say there's nothing wrong with "those" items I'm referring to gently used items in like new to good condition. Not some cracked toy or unstable stroller or something. Certain things are probably better to buy new like car seats, but many places now are just refusing to take ANY baby items. That's silly. Of course everything has a shelf life eventually.
Also you know what's funny is after your first child you save your baby stuff for your second and so on children. No one bats an eye about using the same stuff on baby number two or three. But try to give it to someplace else in an effort to help other mothers and oh no we can't take that. There's no difference.
