Study: Lying makes you happier

Not that this is a big surprise, but here goes:

On April 7 Kate tweeted this:

“@XXXX you're so energetic miss gardener:) tomorrow we plant our organic veges inside then will move outside when they sprout yay!”

However today, when someone asked if she had a garden, she tweeted this:

"no but my kids seem to think we need one"

Oh no she didn't!

According to studies, small embellishments can have positive psychological effects. In a 2008 study, researchers found that college students who exaggerated their GPA in interviews later showed improvement in their grades. Their fiction, in other words, became self-fulfilling. "Exaggerators tend to be more confident and have higher goals for achievement," said Richard Gramzow, a psychologist at the University of Southampton in England and one of the study's coauthors. "Positive biases about the self can be beneficial." People who deceive themselves also tend to be happier than people who do not, some research suggests. There are social payoffs, too: Studies have shown that people who lie frequently are viewed as friendlier and more amiable than their more truthful counterparts.

Kate's web of lies has caught up with her time and time again, and yet something keeps driving her to keep on spinning them. Is it because it makes her happier to put up such a facade?

So happy there's a new post! Can this one be a Peanut Free Post? Since the last one I've become allergic to the topic. ;)

Was there ever a detailed post on Kate's lies? With either two conflicting versions or outright proof of a lie?

C (Is for cookie) said... 3

What really gets me is that Kate tells such pointless lies. Who cares if she doesn’t plant a garden—excuse me, an ORGANIC garden? I think a garden would be a good way to put some of that ginormous property to work, but I wouldn’t think she was doing it wrong if she opted out.

C (Is for cookie) said... 4

BTW, I love the "Oh no she didn't!" picture.

Fleecing The Sheeple said... 5

Don't crucify me. I'm no sheeple, as you all well know, but is it possible that she did plant those organic veggies inside, but due to Kate's ineptness, she either forgot to water them, or they just died because she over-watered them, had them in a shady spot, whatever...therefore they never got moved outside because they never sprouted? Or maybe they did move them outside, but she was too lazy to take care of them, and just let them die on their own.

SG...I seem to remember that there was a post or thread with a list of Kate's lies.

SG said... 6

I think Kate lied too. If she tried and it didn't work out then why wouldn't she just say so? Saying No doesn't really coincide with her first comment.

Heide said... 7

Thinking about Kate's lies made me think about the Gosselin book. At first I couldn't understand why he would taunt Kate like that - if he's got the goods on her, why not come out with the book? Why taunt her and have her lawyers get involved? And why leak the furniture contract details? So I started thinking about it and it does seem to make sense that he would do those things if he was looking for a payoff from her to not publish the book. I guess we'll see if the book comes out soon.

SG said... 8

Fleecing,
Thanks.

I though the same thing about the garden at first but I don't think her reply makes sense if she tried and it didn't work out.

I recently planted some tomato plants and the next day they were gone. The topic of tomato plants came up twice since then and I told what happened to mine. (Rabbit was a prime suspect.)

Maybe Kate is embarrassed she couldn't grow a garden? Then why not just ignore the question?

I don't think I will ever understand Kate's reasoning.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 9

If she weren't lying about the seedlings she should have said we tried and it didn't work out.

She just flat out said no. That's not the lie, I don't think she does have a garden. The lie was about the seedlings.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 10

And, who cares if the seedlings didn't work out. The sheeple would be falling all over her to help her out with tips and whatnot. They wouldnt hold it against her. And frankly I don't think anyone here would either--I mean at least she tried, it's a start.

Once a Viewer reminded us in the April 8th thread that Kate started talking about her seedlings right after there was a big gardening discussion here. Just information, I haven't the first clue if Kate reads here. I do know Jon does when he can.

This evening, I thought I'd step away from the Gosselin drama and take a break for a little while. I was surfing the net about MTV's Teen Mom finale, which aired last night. I immediately found this comment, posted about one of the (clearly NPD and very mentally unstable) 'cast mothers', Farrah Abraham. It turns out, she has recorded a ghastly music video!...

"El Jefe
She is kind of hot and like a lot of hot girls she is a lotta psycho. They kind of go hand in hand. I don’t know what I even just listened to.

I have a feeling she is going to make Kate Gosselin look sane and normal in the end."

What I find most disturbing, is how MTV has continued to film these children during very private moments. In the beginning children were once featured in complete undress, bathing, using the restroom, etc.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 18

Kristine I wish I were more up to speed on this Teen Mom thing because I keep hearing more and more bad things about it and I guess it's been on the air a really long time now? I haven't watched MTV in maybe 7 years. I don't even know where it is anymore on the lineup. I feel like it should be a point of discussion on a reality tv kids blog but I confess I can't work up the energy to really research the issues it's presenting....maybe someone could volunteer?

Auntie Anne you crack me up. Maybe they're viewed as friendlier because people would rather hear a lie than the truth from their friend.

Kate would rather hear you're wonderful and perfect than what we tell her: Bitch, get a JOB!!!

I get it. I do wonder what the LONG TERM happiness meter is. Sure it makes you happy right then. But how about long term when your life is terrible because no one ever told you certain things that would have really helped you. LIke to quit drugs and stop being such a tool.

Actually it occurred to me that maybe she means she moved the veggies outside in POTS? And doesn't count that as a real garden? But why wouldn't she say that? I.e. Kate has grandious ideas, and maybe really hopes to do most of what she says, but I tend to think it is more likely she is pretentious and needs to attempt to impress others by stating ( err tweeting) all the fabulous talents she thinks she has, but doesnt posess.

She does it so often she cant keep track, and she really doesnt even care.If you put it in her face with all the facts, even with video footage, she will always have some way of spinning it.

Thats what these kinds of people do...sometimes I wonder why we/I even waste time on her... but I just keep wishing for someone/somewhere to come out with some REALLY damaging evidence. Sadly that might not happen till the kids grow up, and even then someone , somewhere will deny it.

Just like what happened to Joan Crawfords 2 kids..

ORRR, Kate will run out of money and have no connections to, or no ability to pay them high falutin lwyers to intimidate people who know the TRUTH!!!

I follow a couple of blogs where the blogee just got into the whole raising chicken thing (a real touch and go thing unlike the miracle at the Gosselin compound) so I'm just asking about timing, because .............. chickens only lay eggs for so many months or years. Some do better than others. Yet we've never heard anything about the chix that are past their prime so to speak. Just a bunch of nonsense about dozens and dozens and dozens of eggs daily, weekly, etc.

Just curious about how many chickens are still laying eggs for all the organic cooking going on that silly household. Or is any mention of the chix just another lie at this point?

Khate is a compulsive/habitual/pathological liar. They all mean the same thing. She is someone who lies out of habit. A few ways to sell if someone is this type: Lying is their normal and reflexive way of responding to questions.  Compulsive liars bend the truth about everything, large and small.  For a compulsive liar, telling the truth is very awkward and uncomfortable while lying feels right.  Compulsive lying is usually thought to develop in early childhood, due to being placed in an environment where lying was necessary.  For the most part, compulsive liars are not overly manipulative and cunning (unlike sociopaths), rather they simply lie out of habit.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 49

Hm, wouldn't that fit perfectly into a child who was abused? They certainly would lie about all kinds of things to avoid abuse. No dad I wasn't out with friends I was at the library studying--a lie to avoid a beating.

I wanted to chime in on something. Long time lurker here. I agree that the sheeple who posted answering the questions were treated badly. Call me crazy said she wanted to sincerely ask questions of the sheeple. When those questions were answered in what I think was a sincere fashion, her answers were ridiculed and examined and then torn apart.

Just as our opinions of Kate cannot be changed, theirs probably can't either. I was hoping to really see some discussion and maybe gain insight into the differences of our opinions.

Why can't that happen here? Why can't we discuss those differing opinions without getting defensive and ridiculing them? I was disappointed in the outcome.

Sleepless In Seattle said... 51

Quite the contrary. The responses provided were insightful, with a tone of respect and no sarcasm at all. Crazy did an exemplary job of not insulting the other person. In fact, it was an honest post without any hint of snark whatsoever. It was an excellent differing of opinion without anyone being torn apart.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 52

Crazy did as good of a job as anyone could do answering those questions. Just because you have a different opinion doesn't mean you are "ridiculing."

And really, it's very hard to have a reasoned discussion with some of the absurd things said. It's one thing to debate whether apples or oranges are better, quite another when someone tries to tell you apples are blue and oranges have rainbow colored polka dots.

Also I'm not sure what the point is of trying to gain insight into opinions. For what purpose? If it were peace in the middle east sure but it's Kate Gosselin for pity sake, lol. PLEASE move on from the blogs on blogs discussion. If you don't like the blog, then go away. Given how hard this is for people, I have this funny feeling they DO like this blog.

Tamara said... 54

There are other components to Khate's compulsive lying that aren't textbook. The narcissism, low IQ, laziness, all need to be taken into consideration. And I do think she is also delusional. She truly believes her lies. You've heard of people who believe their own hype? Well, she takes that to the extreme. She believes things about herself and her life that have never been hyped. And she grabs on tightly and fully to concepts that she likes. The OCD clean thing, organic, dressing in a 'sexy' manner. All of these were things created by handlers to help sell a brand. And, all of them are things that she really, REALLY, doesn't do well, but continues to cling to.

fidosmommy said... 55

Lying feels good. Lying is a control issue in that by stating my lie, I expect you to believe it because I'm the one saying it. If I say it, you must believe it. If I contradict myself the problem is that you misunderstood, not that I've changed the story. I am in pig heaven when
I can rope you into my story, whatever it is.
It might be that I want you to believe I always
wash my ceilings as part of my cleaning routine,
or that I can clip 400 good coupons in an hour.
My point in telling you this is to make you feel inadequate when compared to me. That feels good. It compensates for an objective
observation that I don't clean very much and am
pretty much never clipping coupons.

Lying has 2 purposes. 1)to get out of some kind of unhappy situation and 2)to impress.

Tamara said... 56

Yes, probably. Incidentally his name is also Jon.

I the one hand I can't stand the way she blows money away on things she could easily do herself if she weren't so darn lazy, on the other hand I can't imagine Kate helping the kids with homework.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 67

I have no sympathy about child support. She bitches it could barely cover lunches but spends God knows how much money on all these little "helpers" so she can lounge around like a lazy POS. No wonder Jon had had enough.

I classify white lies as something different than a normal lie. As far as white lies if you think about it we do it all day long. Someone asks how we're doing we say fine when really our best friend just died or a loved one has cancer. People go to work and pretend to like when they're doing when they don't always. People smile and nod at people they don't like. A girlfriend smiles and holds her boyfriends hand at the baseball game tells him she's having a great time, a boyfriend does the same at the ballet. To me that's more about being considerate of others and socially accepted. Although it's funny that so much of what people do to get along in the world is a lie. It's when people take it BEYOND that little circle of lies we all do to make the world go around smoothly it becomes creepy.

She actually cracked open her wallet and spent money on something for the kids?!?!

I actually had to retreat to my fainting couch, the shock was so severe. I’m glad she got a homework helper—most parents would find it difficult to assist 8 children with their homework every night, and, let’s face it, she’s not the best person to ask. She’s probably okay with math and science, being a former nurse, but can you imagine Kate being “helper-ish” with a reading or writing assignment? The poor kids!

You are always bitching about how much YOU do...how much YOU give up...How hard it IS to have 8 kids...
Jon seems to get by...He isnt begging for free stuff.
You LET Jon out of his support? NO...Same in my state...if you have your child/s 50% of the time...NO parent pays more. There is NO support owed. You did nothing Kate...other than let the kids be where they want to be...and NO...Jon shouldnt have to pay you for that!

They work for so little but yet give their all....They work 12+ hours shifts...Hell...my sister comes in on her days off to take a resident fishing or just to take him/her for a drive. She brings in her beagle on an off day to make her residents happy.
Sorry...but I cant EVER see kate working as a nurse...the focus would not be on her....and the witch has NO Idea what that means.
Kate as a "real" nurse in 2012???? Ummmm Nooooo

fidosmommy said... 74

Yeah, I remember that summer "paperwork" time Kate sat the kids down to do. That was a class I hope never to sit through. I wonder how many times "school" was open that summer or if that was simpoy a photo op. As I recall, it was a great pap set-up. Kate had on a black babydoll
dress, and when she bent over the tables (toward the cameras) you could practically see her navel. Laverne and Shirley were hanging tight to her chest wall and were in FULL view.

Well, I'm having a rare sleepless night, anyone else still up?

I wish the article referenced in Admin's post here had defined "lie". Do they mean flat out whoppers or the "white lie" variety? I can see where the "white lie" variety could make someone happier. It makes life a bit less complicated. I can't see the whoppers making life easier/better/happier in the long run. They might uncomplicate things initially, but I'd think the stress of trying to keep them straight in your mind would make you crazy.

Examples of KK's flat out lies:

Mommy and Daddy will always be together.
I do it all for my kids.
I do it all by myself.

Re spell check. I downloaded the (free) Google task bar because it has a lot of features I like, and one of them is a spell check.

Well, I'm off to see if another Rumspringa will help me get a bit of sleep. Thankfully, I'm not scheduled to help at the school tomorrow.

Reader lady I'm still up. I haven't commented lately but I have kept up with my reading. It's funny that this thread is about lying because so much has been discussed about her lies in the past. I think that we don't even know the extent of her lies! I have called her twitter " her lying toy" because it's the perfect vehicle to say whatever she wants as if true when it's not! Maybe she lies because truth hurts.

Does she really have hired help for her kids homework?? Homework for 2nd and 6th graders?? Wow, unbelievable !! I am so glad Kate did not go into teaching!! So, so lazy!

I would like to comment about her box lunch. It looked like a photo up for an :
Advertisement, promotion, or resume for an endorsement deal! All her freebies up in a straight line for all to see! It's to much in your face kind of bragging ! Yuck!

I want to thank all of you for your kind words on my friends passing. I have always said that you guys are great, you are not mean girls!
Good night, or should I say good morning!

fidosmommy said... 78

Yes, I'm up, readerlady. Just not tired.

Kate's lies. Let's see. Well, I am convinced she did not run the full marathon in California.
It just doesn't add up - her time was too good for a novice runner with very sparse nutrition and a haphazard practice schedule, the mixup with the times and the deal with the 1/2 or full marathon, looking like she was feeling very little pain at the finish line, wearing heels so soon after, etc. All that makes me question the truth of the full marathon being run.

They were poor struggling Gosselins needing the help of fine church folks as they were hunting properties valued over $1M.

"I love being a Mom!" I don't think she does, frankly. I think she likes being a house manager and little else. She reninds me of Captain Von Trapp and his whistle that kept his
8 (?) children in line. As long as the house was run like a ship, the Captain was happy and all was well.

Katie's reason for lying is it is required since she worked for The Lying Channel.
No, actually, she lies to TRY to make herself appear more important, more intelligent, more worthwhile, more better, well, just MORE! What she HAS is her basis for what her value is. Pity, what she has ain't all that much. Hmmm, maybe that is a good 'standard establisher', she ain't got much and she really ain't all that much. Guess she IS right. Well, there's a FIRST!!!!!! !!

Yes and someone mentions the Olympics and behold, she and the girls were just talking about that. That is just as an example, but she does that type of thing all the time. Like with Ellen - I was just thinking about Taylor. I think it is a trick of the trade. Makes you more relatable. My husband used to watch Oprah all the time and would say it doesn't matter what her guests have done or had happen she has been through the same thing and knows how they feel.

I feel like Ralph Kramden: "hubbadahubbadahubbada..."

I dont know which scenario is more disturbing - that her children apparently say this kind of stuff on a daily basis while gleefully dancing from one room to the next sqealing screeches of delight and raving their happiness and joy; or that Kate feels the need to make this crap up daily and announce it to the public, along with her pretend 'vejjezz' garden.

Either Kate is every bit as mentally ill as she appears to be, or those kids are incredibly psychologically damaged and traumatized and are beginning to babble their mother's propaganda trying to save themselves from another mental beating. Stockholm syndrome?

Liars are manipulators. For whatever reason, Kate has discovered that by lying and thus manipulating, she usually gets what she wants. And, even more importantly, brings attention to herself. Unfortunately, some of those children are going to go down the same path.

Everyones children say cute stuff every so often. Was it a spontaneous statement, part of a conversation, or prompted by questions or statements from the parent? Doesn't really matter because even the most average mediocre children do say cute things at times.
Ms Kreider is still boring.
I would not be surprised to see her in a brief bit on Dancin With Them There Stars. They usually do a look back at the WORST dancers of the entire series, and Ms Kreider us right up there with Master P ”i'm only on this show because my son Romeo hurt his ankle and I want to sell my shoes so no Len I will not be wearing those professional dancing shoes”. Oh, and former Speaker of the House Tom Delay ” watch me sit in a chair while my partner dances around me because I managed to break my type the first week..”
Gee, if they add in Kenny Mayne, Ms Kreider might not reach the top the Worst Dancers Ever!
Seriously, Master P had her attitude beat by a mile, he just did not care and his performance each week was a gigantic fu to the judges especially Len who was almost apoplectic at the lack of the proper shoes.

JoyinVirginia said... 95

Auggghhh! Auto correct! Tom Delay broke a toe or a bone in his foot or something almost the first week. His dancing was abysmal before that, and thankfully he was voted out after the chair dance. He really did spend most of the dance sitting in a chair. At least the Shopping Kart was dragged around.

On the one hand researchers say it's okay to tell a few lies if it will make you happy and on the other we have Mayo Clinic telling you that if you have magical thinking you'd better see a doctor. Someone isn't telling the truth.

**********

I think it is a matter of extremes. It is one thing to boast "I lost 10 pounds!" when you know full well you only lost 7. But it's another thing when Kate goes on Leno and says her kids go through 3 loaves of bread, 6 dozen eggs, 5 pounds of bacon, plus a pot of oatmeal every morning for breakfast. Then she posts pics of ONE slice of bacon, ONE egg, and a mini muffin per plate and cant understand why folks call her a liar.

Pathological lying is hard to comprehend. Of course there are times they KNOW they are deliberatly lying; but for the most part they feel the words they are using are so justified to get their needs met that the words then become quite truthful. A lie is always better than the truth because the truth is something you have to own and are accountable for and for the pathological liar, that cannot be tolerated for whatever reasons.

"I am not prepared to belive that Kate buys for heerself but never for her kids."

In that entire conversation you are talking about, these words written by Kate's fan were, by far, the most telling. These words are what prompted me to write the "none so blind as those who will not see" line to which you are taking exception. "None so blind as those who will not see" is just a more poetic way of saying someone is in denial.

I believe that a lot of Kate's fans are in denial. They don't want to believe that she would put her own needs and desires above those of her children, despite seeing and hearing that very behavior played out time and again on video and in Twitterland. But she, and Jon at the time, did just that from the very moment they signed on to sell their children to the world.

My words were not a personal attack. They were an observation that I will continue to stand by.

"I am not prepared to belive that Kate buys for heerself but never for her kids."

No one has ever said she "never" buys for her kids. But she most certainly takes care of her own needs over theirs.

Thank you, everyone, who had kind words about my post. Gotta run, but I'll be back, Respectfully Disagree, if you have other questions for me.

Twisting words again. IMHO I think Katie believes calling her after school 'babysitter' her homework helper is a title boost. Of course she has no morning help, it's only school unifoms, breakfast and off to school. The housecleaner 'helper' does dishes, makes beds, cleans bathroom. After school not-a-nanny is the play person, snack person and child minder, probably even does post dinner showers. And now she's a homework helper. Kate tweets all day and makes fabulous dinners. If she could find a 'chef helper', she would do that too.

Just the other day she said the word SEX by accident. It made whatever she was saying really funny and we all laughed and said Imagine! She denied ever saying the word. There were 5 adults in the room that ALL her her said it. She insisted she didn't.

She even went to far as to say she didn't understand why we try to make it seem she said something she did not say. We all tried to explain it was no big deal... that we understood she didn't mean to say SEX, it was just funny.

She does things like that all the time. It's very frustrating, but expected.

There's the carpool, you have to help with homework, there's dinner to cook, get ready for the next day, then presumably you hopefully have time to maybe go for a little walk or play a game or watch tv together then it's showers and bedtime routine. The afternoon/evening flies by and you're lucky if you managed to sit down. I don't understand how you squeeze in one tweet let alone have time to read all the tweets Kate does and respond to as many as she does if you're actually being present and caring for eight kids.

The only explanation is of course the NANNY is there doing it all so Kate can stand there and tweet. And then they're at Jon's too.

TLC stinks said... 133

I want to add that with Kate's impatience and anger explosions, I am absolutely sure those kids know just what to say to keep the momster calm. They know to stroke her ego and just do her bidding. It will get interesting when the teen years roll around. Some will continue that routine but others will rebel.

My fear has been some stoopid man will marry her and she'll trick him into having more babies.

It's one thing to debate whether used sports equipment is acceptable, the merits of their school vs public, whether giving to consignment is acceptable, etc. Quite another to debate with someone who thinks the world is flat.

I agree with the poster who says they come here to prove we are "haters." They come here and post outlandish things about Kate that couldn't possibly be true then get upset when someone calls them out on their ridiculous statements and run away crying about how mean the people are here.

Pulling The Wool said... 135

...but eight year olds, come on Kate. Get off your lazy butt and help them yourself.

But according to Kate, these kids are all at the top of their class, so I can't imagine they would need that much help with homework. This is second grade. It's not upper school AP science.

I think the reason that sometimes people don't reply "respectfully" to the Kate fans when they defend Kate, or make light of what she does, is it is really hard to respect enablers.

The people that ignore Kate mistreating her children or husband or anyone else (ex Sarah Palin or the instructor at the Sky Walk) or excuse her other bad behavior are enabling her.

Kate is exploiting her children every chance she gets and her fans are enabling that. They are part of the problem.

he narcissist in my life isn't really a "liar" as much as she is a person who never wants to admit the truth.

She has a way of changing history. She will deny she said or did something, either trivial or life-changing to the other people involved.

_____

I worked with a girl like that. She was pissed at me one day, and called me a bitch. Two other coworkers HEARD her say it, she vehemently denied ever saying it. The owner of the company believed HER because she cried and cried about it, how she never said it, I must have misheard, I WAS MEAN TO HER, blah, blah, blah. I ended up getting REPRIMANDED and threatened that if I was not nice to her, I would get FIRED.

The girl (she was in her 20s, but she was no way nature enough to be called an adult) was a hot mess, NPD, pathological liar.

I quit that job as soon as I could, because it was a place that LOVED her as she lied every second of every day about everything, in order to make herself look good and present a front to the owner that she could handle her workload. It was UNBEARABLE to be in a room with her. And the owner was NPD also, they fed off each other.

I think her mood disorder has been progressing. I give you the NYC episode where Kate was waving on the bus like the Queen of England, running in hooker heels with ice cream, screeching, boobs bouncing, climbing up to "drive" the boat in Daisy Dukes and gladiator stilletos.
It was like she went off the rails. She was manic and so inappropriate that I'm surprised someone didn't pull her aside to try to calm her down.
Kate won't call the tutor a tutor because that would take credit away from her and maybe imply the any of the kids has a learning problem.

That's a really good point SG. It is hard to respect someone who defends a child exploiter and nasty person.

Just like if there is an alcoholic in the family and everyone wants them to get help but then there are one or two people trying to say they are not so bad and they have a right to do what they want and are in denial about the bad things that have happened, you bet there are probably going to be some nasty fights between the people doing the RIGHT THING and the enablers.

SG said... 141

Kate tweets way too much for a mother that has EIGHT children to care for.

If she has all those children at home she could use that tweeting time to spend some quality alone time with just one child.

When you have eight children it's so much harder to have that quality one-on-one time with each child. Why wouldn't Kate take advantage of that time?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 142

Kate needs to catch up with the trends. All the rich people have tutors even if your kid is the smartest in the class.

That's what ticks me off. You have so LITTLE time as it is with eight children why would you waste a second of it tweeting to strangers? Make no mistake these kids are going to catch on and fast where her priorities are.

I really wish the fans would just band together and ignore her at night and gently encourage her to get off it and go be present with the kids. If they really loved her they would not talk to her in the evenings when she is supposed to be with her children. It's selfishness on their part too commanding her attention when they know the kids are there.

I can't say what kind of liar she is since all of this info is coming from my husband...hes the professional, not me. I only know that he said that someone who compulsively lies has one or more disorders...he deals with a lot of this on a daily basis...most of his patients have OCD...of course some more severe than others....the fact that she's not in reality is a good indicator of OCD. Also it can reflect in getting a job or keeping a job. I don't know if she crosses that line of a pathological liar...it can escalate to that. All he knows is from his experience with it, meds are needed. I know people hate her for this but this is a real illness like any other and should be addressed but unfortunatly most people with this can't even fathom they have a problem. Thats right...she's oblivious and will not even entertain the idea she's a liar... it's all she knows...It's part of her daily life..like cleaning the house, or making dinner...

Kate lies, but in her mind it is the truth. No-one calls her out on her "discrepancies" because it would be pointless, in her mind there are no untruths being told. Besides, she is Teflon coated, anyone calling her to account would be greeted with the patented eye-roll and huff.

My 80 year old aunt fancied herself as a fashion plate. When I visited her, she would have my uncle parade out her garment bags to show me her recent purchases, all from high-end stores. She was particularly pleased with a black cocktail dress with a HUGE red rose print. She was giddy when she asked me what I thought of it. My response, was "oh, it's just beautiful Aunt Marg". That was a lie, it was hideous, but she loved the dress, and of course I wanted to spare her feelings. That Christmas she gave me the exact same dress in my size, and once again I lied and said I loved it.

My initial lie (more like a fib, I suppose) brought joy to my aunt, but by telling it, it cost her a tidy sum, which I felt quite guilty about, but again, it brought her joy. That Christmas we took pictures of us dressed alike, and away she went back home, hundreds of miles away, never the wiser. My siblings could barely keep a strait face knowing my false compliment of this dress was why I wound up wearing it myself.

So, that is a story of a little white lie and all it's consequences, good and bad. The difference between myself and Kate is, I see all the little ripples it caused. No real harm was done, but the truth got buried in my little white lie, and I wound up in an expensive, ugly dress because of it. After my aunt passed away, I donated it, so hopefully someone saw it and said, " I love this dress"!, and that would bring me joy.

*****
I think that Kate just gave up and that people who really meant well by helping with the kids conditioned Kate to pull away and just leave the nurturing to others.
I can't tell what kind of liar Kate is, but I sure she lies daily when it comes to the kids. I doesn't matter to Kate that there's years and countless hours documenting her, she will spin her tales.
Loving making lunches for the kids? You're kidding, right? We all saw the back to school lunch packing where Kate was absolutely miserable packing lunches, didn't know who liked what and screamed like a banchee when the kids didn't recite how to eat their lunches in unison.
Loving being with the kids? Where to begin. Let's take the first hand account from someone who was there observing Kate not interacting or playing with the kids, complaining bitterly and ordering them to leave after 20 minutes when they could have had terrific fun for hours given that the farm had lots of activities to engage in.
Kate alluded to being in the maze for SO LONG! She sat there in her little chair, looked at the producer and embellished their visit so that if no one was there to report it, everyone would think they had a blast for hours.
She's sick.

Kate did say on the first back-to-school show that her nanny came at 5 AM to do hair, help with dressing etc. At that age, that's understandable I guess. But now the girls jut have their hair down or in ponytails and I imagine can dress themselves.

She also tweeted a while back that M and C take care of showers in the PM. age eight- should be able to shower on their own IMO.

"I guess this poster missed the laundry room floor episode or Collin's constipation problem when her main focus was on picking out furniture. It's all recorded on film. There's nothing subject to personal interpretation.

The posters here are right. You can't have any kind of logical discussion when someone is so clueless. They see what they want to see, through rose-colored glasses. They even laughed with Kate about her speeding tickets. I wonder what it is going to take for them to wake up and smell the coffee, if they ever do. Will they continue to defend her no matter what?"

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

I remember that comment. It was in response to someone saying that she didn't remember Kate ignoring her children. The person pointed out two episodes in which Kate did ignore a child, followed by an opinion. If this is interpreted as "definitely ridiculing," then I guess that some have different definitions of the word.

The "pointing out two episodes" part is not ridiculing. The "so clueless" part is. The poster could have identified the two episodes to support their point without throwing in the "so clueless" part.

Another one of the "worst Mommy" moments was Mady and the water incident. Here was Mady very literally begging for some water and someone hands Kate a water bottle for the child. What does Super Mommy Kate do? She sternly tells Mady to wait and then opens the bottle a takes a big sip right in front of her thirsty child.

I haven't started reading the comments yet, but this is interesting...

A few years ago, on the show "Wife Swap" there was a 15 or 16 year old girl, beauty pagent queen, who was portrayed as a spoiled brat - getting a present every day under the year round Christmas tree in the living room, her parents did her homework for her, and when she was made to waitress and was yelled at by her boss, she went running to her daddy, who, of course, blamed everyone but her.

Google Alicia Guastaferro

Well, she was just arrested for prostitution, and has admited addiction to prescription drugs, and booze. She was bullied out of school, and had sucicidal thoughts.

She was a total BRAT on the show, but she was a teenager at the time. The G8 had no say from day one. I cringe when I think of what awaits them in their future. God willing, they will be mentally healthy and have successful jobs, relationships, and maintain a bond with each other.

It just AMAZES me that Grifty does not care. There is no privacy - she posts pics of them reading, eating, and its a safe bet that she makes up words such as "hairplane" and "sammynella" to make the kids sound like toddlers. High school is going to be HELL for these kids.

Grifty, stop the BS of "no never means no to me". The talk show is never going to happen.
Hollywood will never have you or your cute-but-not-that-special kids. Stop embarassing them and yourself by promising a dating show, running around with a married man, and dressing like a streetwalker. Holly Robinson Pete recently tweeted a pic of a blond with short shorts and hooker shoes and thought it was you. Even SHE thinks you're a bitch.

Kate still wants fame, and people in hell want ice water. Which one will happen first?

I do not believe any of that has changed. Especially now with the stress of non-steady income is on her.

No, it's not normal. It seems like the kids are painfully aware of their mother's insecurity and that she is needy. If thanking her constantly helps just a little bit, that's what they do. I think that they sense that she thrives on this and perhaps it makes their life at home a bit more bearable. Admin said, Kate needs to catch up with the trends. All the rich people have tutors even if your kid is the smartest in the class.

--------------

If the kids need homework help, or are having a problem in one subject, there is IU assistance for free during the school day. It's the same group that provides speech therapy at no cost. In addition, upper schoolers may also volunteer to help the younger kids with problem areas. Kate needs to get her act together and find out what programs are available if her kids need help. I'm wondering if she hires a person specifically to help with homework, or if the sitter is responsible for this.

I want to thank you for this post SG. It really made me aware of my own attitude towards Kate's few fans; I think I DO hold them partly responsible for what has happened to those children. I probably will continue to feel that way, but will try to be more aware of my bias when reading fans posts in the future, so I dont take offense any faster than need be.
************
I feel guilty for watching too. I watched the "separation" episode despite my better judgement.
I have no problem with thinking that Kate's fans who beg her to put her children back on TV need to shut up. Notice that whenever Kate brings up the kids wanting to be back on TV, not one interviewer runs with it or says, "oh that would be great!". They just look at her sort of speechless.
It shouldn't be encouraged.

Did Kate not mention that she had 3 marathons coming up in September and that one would be a full marathon. She's not tweeted much about running lately. Or will she only tweet about the marathons after the fact?

One thing I'm fairly sure was a lie was the full marathon she claims to have run. When she was interviewed last autumn and winter she never once mentioned the full marathon only the half marathons and shorter runs, which leads me to believe that she never did do the full one.

Tucker's Mom said... 185

Kate tweet about running her first marathon. Did she ever run another after Las Vegas?
Also put me down as not believing she ran the whole thing.

Bluebird said... 186

Weird, I posted regarding her marathons, saw it published but when I look again my posting disappeared. I'll see if this one stays.

The kids have learned to just suck up to Kate and suck up as much as possible for their own protection. What Kate thinks is sweet I'm starting to find really creepy.
************************

I am finding it disturbing. It's not this comment that put me over the edge, it was the one earlier about the kids happily dancing to school blah blah blah. Her insistance that her life is like 1960s Disney cartoon movie is disturbing to me.

IF the children are daily telling her (X8!!!!!!!!) how greatful they are for their very existance (next it will be 'thank you mommy for growing us these lungs! I love the oxygen in our bestest house!! You're the greasest mom ever x8!!!!') they are saying these things to soothe her, calm her, and to try to make her like them for a minute and perhaps ensure a little less verbal abuse as well as shoulder pinching and red spooning.

If they are NOT saying these things, they are will very soon realize this kind of blather was expected of them and once again they failed to meet their mother's basic expectations of them. She was forced to make it all up because they didnt know how to help her. And they are going to have to live with the psychological ramifications of that.

Either way, this is not good at all and something is still very wrong in that household.

I agree with the poster who says they come here to prove we are "haters." They come here and post outlandish things about Kate that couldn't possibly be true then get upset when someone calls them out on their ridiculous statements and run away crying about how mean the people are here.

I hope she is making up what the kids say to her, otherwise I agree those kids have been brainwashed to say nice things to stroke mom's ego. It is disturbing either way.

IMO, the more Kate tweets about the children loving her, and loving how she takes care of them(i.e. praising her meals, etc.)the more it shows how just insecure she is. She needs constant praise to survive. A mother who feels confident in herself, and in her way of raising her children, wouldn't have the need to constantly use her children to praise herself.

She comes across as a very insecure person, who depends on her children and her fans for positive feed back.

Why is that ridiculing? The person was clueless. Clueless means "having no knowledge," "uninformed," which is clearly what the person was on that subject.

If words bother you, then it's time you move on and find a blog where one word isn't going to offend you.

Admin is correct. Posters here have been burned so many times with drive-bys that it's hard to tell the sincere posters from those who have no place to go other than here to stir things up. It gets tiresome after awhile and trying to have a reasonable discussion is like talking to a blank wall. No, that's not ridiculing. It's an idiomatic expression.

Calling someone "clueless" is not respectful, period. I really don't care if you choose to use the word, but stop with the holier than thou "we are so respectful here" garbage. If you would feel respected after being called clueless, then you really are, well, clueless. LOL.

Is she implying she used to have help in the morning? I heard lately she's been cutting back the nanny's hours to save money.
-------------------------------------------------
It could be that Katie is cutting back on the nanny's hours because the children are at Jon's place 50% of the time.

Here is what I do not understand. This was one of, if not THE first episode of Kate Plus 8 and was supposed to unveil the new Can Do Kate!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wb20lmfTh5E

The whole episode contains examples of everything people here have been talking about. What I don't get though, is she bitches and moans, throws fits, wishes she were elsewhere, the whole episode. So where in the hello do her fans get the idea she is full of energy and positivity? I don't get it!!

As to the kids thankfulness, check out the video at 12:11. Kate is "feeding lunch" on the patio. She has a bitch fit about the sliding glass door, proclaiming her rule. The look on Mady's face is heartbreaking. Anyway right after that someone says "thank you for the peanut butter and jelly" and someone else says "thank you." I wonder if it is a house rule (with penalty of severeness) that when they are served a meal they are to thank mommy for it.

At the end of the episode, she makes her all-egg-dinner. At 40:56 Mady proclaims the meal "disgusting" (gasp! No five star thumbs up?) She hate's eggs.

At 41:30, the kids actually do cheer. Why? Because mommy is actually eating dessert which she never does and obviously they they realize she never eats dessert. Right after this Mady, who thought the dinner was disgusting, says a scripted-sounding line about how appreciative (yes she actually says that) they all are for her making meals like this for them. (WTH)

Whaaat! No tweet concern about Gulf Breeze where she just spent her FREE beach vacay.
=====

I should say not. Yesterday or the day before she said she has eight "tornadoes" of her own to deal with. That's far worse than a silly hurricane somewhere where it's no concern of hers.

The kids know to thank Kate and make it all about her. The RV episodes with Kate making pancakes showed how irritated she gets when the kids forget to thank her.
The egg dinner was a fun idea, but again, 1/2 a sandwich, 1/2 a deviled egg and 5 pieces of veg.
No kids got to help themselves at the dinner table. I hope at some time, some place they learn how to eat family style, pass food properly etc.

Kate's sheeple are so concerned that people don't show Kate respect yet they are silent when it comes to Kate showing her kids no respect or her fans for that matter. Her sheeple are an odd lot.

I didn't say it wasn't disrespectful. Therein lies the difference. Folks here are claiming to behave in a manner that clearly contradicts their actual behavior.
