Marie....great post! LOVE your 'thin ice' saying! So, so true. Also agree with you that KG has been degraded down to NO-list status....the only things/events she can hope to attend are small potatoes, nobody important involved gigs. I don't mean the charities themselves...just that she doesn't have a hope in hell in EVER being invited to anything remotely resembling 'red carpet' again. These small time events send out invites to anybody and everybody with a 'name' and hope, at best, 1 or 2 has-beens will be desperate enough for ANY press and accept the 'invite'. Katie Irene doesn't even have the sense to be humiliated. She continues to plummet and, I hate to say it but, I'm REALLY enjoying watching the epic fall from grace!!
I think that Kate still thinks of the twins as toddlers, not realizing they are one year away from being teenagers. If she wanted to take a picture of one of the kids trying on shoes, then she should have taken a picture of the SHOES from the ankle down, not her legs! She had no business photographing it at all because it served no purpose. However, if she were hell bent on this because she thinks it's cute, at least she could have done it without exposing her legs, thus setting the child up to be teased.
One of the women tweeting the comment about the legs has since deleted it, but there are others on there.
Everyone who lives in, around, nearby, works in, knows someone from Richmond VA is extremely excited about the Lincoln movie! Daniel Day-Lewis, James Spader Tommy Lee Jones, Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt - They and many more big names were all over town during filming. There were celebrity spottings reported in local papers and on local news. Everyone except Spielberg went around town without fanfare, without security, being very nice and approachable. Mr.Spielberg had security and assistants with him most of the time. He was working on theatrical release of Warhorse during filming of Lincoln last fall.
A couple who are acquaintances have lines in a big ballroom scene, but they won't know if they actually get screen time until the movie comes out. They both said Spielberg was very nice to work with, and all the big names in the cast were professional and a pleasure to work with. Only ONE photo of Daniel Day Lewis in his Lincoln beard showed up, tho he took walks around local parks in town where he was living all the time. That's because, by all reports, he was cordial and willing to talk to people, and asked them politely to not take any photos. Only one guy saw him at lunch and snapped a cell phone photo, that's what ended up on TMZ.

I don't know this questions didn't come up earlier. Did her bodyguard happen to be with her during "her" fashion show? Or is the one thing Kate's been forced to give up on? Or maybe he's quit who knows but since she's not really gone anywhere since TLC ended...why would he need to stick around job wise per say?

I'm a regular poster here, but commenting under anon. We are direct descendants of a Civil War general who heard Lincoln's Gettysburg Address and was photographed with Lincoln on several very well-known places on the battlefield.
In the general's journals he mentions that Lincoln had a very high-pitched voice (sometimes squeaky) and when Lincoln said, "government of the people, by the people and for the people," he put the accent on PEOPLE, not on "of, for, and by" (the way it's usually done when recited) because he wanted PEOPLE to be stressed. When he said the word "people," his voice was very high. It was all about the "people" of the nation.
I was watching the trailer of the Lincoln movie, and the actor, who apparently had done much research into Lincoln, doesn't seem to get the voice right. It's just too deep, but I'm anxious to see how this plays out.
I am very excited about this movie. The period of the Civil War is intriguing. Thanks, Joy, for sharing your account of the filming!

I went to the AOL link to see the piece on the fashion show. On the sidebar there are various selections of videos regarding Kate. I clicked on the one where fans get to ask Kate questions. All of the questions were tweeted and in print, the first question is from Milo! It appears to be a set-up-type question asking her how she meets men to date. Just seemed odd to me that a random question like this would coincidentally come from Milo.

@ crock pots -- I have 2, a standard size and a large oval one we used during our RV days out with groups. There was one campout where we cooked for 47 people out of our RV and outside setup of griddles, crockpots & coffee pots. Fun memories.
DD#2 was given a fancy digital one. She used it once. Today it refused to work so she came over to get my smaller one. She has her pork roast & sauerkraut set to go tomorrow a.m.
We're HOT here in So. CA. It was 111 at my house today and will be hot all week end. Just what we need for a birthday party tomorrow for my just turned 3 grandson. Hope the ice cream doesn't melt. My mom & hubby have both wondered if they "have to go."

Lynn, I'm in LA and its super hot, and they are predicting hot weather for the next 10 days! Yikes!!
Since we are sharing crock pot stories, I will share a couple of my favorites. Whole boneless pork loins are a great buy at my local grocer, who does his own meat. My son says they have no flavor. So before going to bed I put one in the crock pot and next thing I know I am putting a brown sugar rub on it and then I put in a can of peaches in heavy syrup. The smell was divine and woke the whole house up. The peaches were beautifully caramelized and the roast was golden brown and delicious. I served it with nothing more than old fashioned baked beans with bacon, and we ate from it for two days. Made great sandwiches on whole wheat buns in the end.
Another favorite is to add cream of mushroom and serve with rice or potatoes.
The trick is to cook on low all night.
Not big on spices but these need nothing more. They stand alone.

Dwindle, Dmasy, I'm a day late here, and maybe it's been mentioned & I missed it...re mashed potatoes, get yourself a ricer! You can cook the potatoes in their skins, put them through the ricer, the skins come off, and you'll have the smoothest mashed potatoes ever. Stir in a little butter, milk & salt & you're good to go!

Pity Party, your crock put recipe sounds delicious, a do everyones cockpit recipes! Is there one site or cookbook you cockpit cookers would recommend over another? I have an old Rival crockpot I only use to keep meatballs warm during parties, I want to try using it for some of the delicious foods y'all are taking about. I am the kind of cook who needs a specific recipe and instructions and ingredients list, so I really like the websites and actual paper cookbooks too!

We are not in the business of posting underaged children's bodies--it defends the purpose we are so trying hard to bring to friution...kate letting people ogle over her children without their permission. I don't even think Mady realizes it and Kate is taking advantage of that. I doubt she has ever sat them down to talk about Internet safety, FB, viural friends, That nothing is annoymous on the internet, even you share pictures with family only, one will still get out because someone in the family copied and pasted it somewhere else. Dwindle - bless you and all hospice social workers. My sister is a social worker and has worked for a hospice for many years. She recently got her masters at 55. I am so proud of her and the difficult work she does. My mom had hospice care and everyone who cared for her was so wonderful to her and the whole family.
Several years ago I saw a crockpot that came with 3 different size pots for large and small meals. Wish I had bought it then as I hate to drag out my large pot for just my DH and myself. Can't find it now.
Talking about crockpots is so much more interesting than talking about Kate.
And someone need to alert Jon ASAP bout the pic and how some people are sickly enjoying it, at her expense no doubt.

JoyinVirginia, of all the crockpot cookbooks I have, my favorite is "Fix It And Forget It". It's a compilation of favorite recipes from home cooks. The best part is there are multiple recipes for each dish, such as meatloaf, ribs, roasts, etc. It's the cookbook that I put in my daughter's Easter crock a few years ago. This book is our go to.
One of my fav crockpot recipes is shredded pork tacos. I get the pork shoulder because it has lots of meat and very little bone. I do a spice rub on it, mainly using taco seasonings, then add a can of Spanish style tomato sauce. I let it cook for 10 hours, then cool it and shred it, (it shreds SO easily with a fork!). Then put it back in the crock to keep it warm.
When you're ready to serve, all you need are tortillas, lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, and sour cream. They're delicious! I serve it with Spanish rice and guacamole and chips. I did this a few months ago for a family get-together and everyone loved it!
It's such an easy meal and everything made in advance so I actually could visit with everyone.
Just for grins and giggles, I compared the ratings for the K+8 finale, and then for Honey Boo Boo on the same night, one year later. All the articles on the K+8 finale made a big deal of the fact that the show got its best ratings in a year! And how everyone tuned in to say "good-bye". That show got 2.1 million. Honey Boo Boo got 2.15 million viewers. And so many people are very disturbed by the HBB show and refuse to watch. And it still got the higher ratings. That says a lot.
I wonder what was behind Kate's thoughts to post a pic of Mady in her heels, her legs, polished toes- maybe she thought it was cute and innocent. Well, unfortunately there are those who enjoy such photos for lewd entertainment. Also the teasing factor- will Mady be teased at school for playing dress-up at her age? Can't Kate keep anything private. Especially of her children? I read a few of the Twazzup comments- say no more.
My granddaughter will be 12 in a couple months. (same age as twins). My granddaughter is even a bit immature for 12. However, she is very very modest and private at this age. I can't imagine posting her every move on line for all to see, as she would be mortified and the long-lasting effect could be dangerous in many ways.

Regarding crock pot meals: here is one that is quick to throw together and low in calories (I got this one at a Weight Watcher Meeting)
Take frozen chicken breasts and place on bottom of crock pot. Top with a can of kidney beans, a can of black beans, a can of vegetarian baked beans. I like to add a can of corn but it does add points to the recipe. On the top, empty an envelope of ranch dressing powder and an envelope of taco seasoning. Pour a large can of tomatoes (I like Rotel but for non-spicy people you can use regular). Place crock pot on low for 8 hours and when you get home from work your meal is all done. Chicken is so tender you can shred with two forks, mix together and top with shredded cheese and/or sour cream.
Lovemygrandsons, your recipe for the pork tacos sounds good too. I am for anything that can be thrown together and eaten when I get home!!!

I've gotten to the point where most of what happens in the Gosselin-drama world I can read about and then let go. I remind myself that she's nowhere now, living in her mine-all-mine house that's sorely in need of redecorating, maintenance, and care (look at the stains on the carpeting in that photo). She has no career and while she's obviously attempting to remake her image, it's very doubtful it'll bring her the fame she wants. And I'm more comfortable that the kids have Jon 50% of the time and, as they grow, can get access to him when they want and need it.
And then she goes and posts this picture of Mady's legs and the outrage returns. That same outrage when the pictures came out of her hitting Leah, and putting a sick child on a cold floor, and allowing Collin (or was it Aaden) to go under her van for papers ... the list is endless. Hey Kate...I fixed a huge breakfast this morning (turns out 11 Purdue young men). The conversation was stimulating and hilarious. Sorry, I didn't take a picture. And, I'm not going to repeat any memorable snippets. They are outside playing volleyball right now. Working up more appetite, I believe!

Of course Kate has no judgement. She has no issue with "attempting" to dress, look and talk like a teenage sexpot because Kate thinks that will keep her young. So poor Mady, who apparently has been crowned the new chosen one and frankly always reminded me of Kate (even Jon said Mady was just like Kate) is now being exploited by her crazy mother more and more. I have to wonder how she is around her classmates because of her temperment. In the old days, we used to cheer Mady for standing up to the cameras and her mother, but today she appears eager to please mom.

I'm so glad you and your DD are okay. Given the choice between a damaged car and an unscathed Formerly, I'll take the damaged car any day. Sic your insurance adjuster on the other driver's insurance company. You shouldn't be out a penny for this. And push for the use of a rental car at their expense while yours is being fixed!

Love the idea of the "fake" mashed potatoes. I love them, but they aren't good for me. The one with the cauliflower sounds like colcannon, minus the potatoes (colcannon is a traditional Irish dish made using mashed potatoes and cabbage and a bit of onion and sometimes carrots. Saw the pix of KK on the runway. Could her smile be any faker? I did like the way her hair was fixed, though. It looked much better and more natural than the way she usually wears it. The curls framed her face and softened it. She needs a good haircut and to learn to do that for herself. I think the bleached, long blonde, blonde, blonde look is a big F-U at Jon, because she said several times that Jon preferred her hair long and blonde.

Jon has been well aware of Kate's poor judgement for years now and brought many issues to the court. Ages ago he tried to get an order she is not allowed to post about the kids on Twitter. He was shot down. Yes. There's also a difference between taking a pic of it from five feet away, and taking a pic from five inches away with it angled upward. Now that I think about it we have a few childhood pics playing dress up in mom's clothes but I think I'm about eight years old and it's just a normal full body pic of us standing there giggling. Not some weird close up of just our legs.

This one is to me is way better than the one she posted last night.
I remember that sometime last year Kate posted a picture of some of the kids trying on her shoes. They were pointing their feet, and it showed some of their legs. That picture was nowhere near what this one is like. I had no problem with that one.
And I still stay the picture was posed. You can't get a shot like that just taking a random picture. It's almost as if Kate said "put on my shoes, I need to take a picture".

Jon sees it! Trust me Jon sees it. But it's not up to him anymore though. It's up to a judge. There is a California case that I think sums up the law when it comes to what a judge can do when you have a shitty parent on their hands. It talks about how it's not the courts' place to interfere with shoddy parenting or try to teach parents a lesson. They are only there for risk to the child.
I think some judges really take that mantra to heart and don't interfere unless they absolutely have to. And so many judges have a hard time understanding why THIS kind of parenting is bad. It's much easier to just present them with a drug mother who left her baby alone all night. That's black and white.

I simply do not understand how she can spend so much time on Twitter while her kids are home with her. Appparently they amuse themselves and someone other than her cooks and cleans. Since we know she doesn't actually eat with them, I get the image of her plopping paper plates around the table and sitting down with her phone, fingers flying. Seriously, can she not do anything with them - pick apples, visit a farm, take a hike?

I really can't stand the sexualization of young children.
It's so hard with some of the clothing they make for children. There's a fine line sometimes in the clothing. I love the cute little bikinis they make. (I also love a two-piece because it makes it so much easier to use the restroom.) However, I only allow my daughters to wear those in private. I limit them to tankinis in public places, such as the beach or a water park. Same with paring mini skirts with halter tops, etc. And my girls are thin so I have to be careful with the length of the skirts because the shorter ones fit their waist better. Thank goodness for the new adjustable elastic inside the waists. Anyway, you have to dress a child like a child.
My daughter recently asked me if she looked hot. I told her, no, 8-year-olds cannot be "hot," it's not appropriate for a child. She asked if she can be "warm." LOL.

Dwindle I have another comment to make about your post yesterday about loving your work in Hospice but keeping it out of your personal life. I think one of the criticisms of professionals in general is that they can't let work go. They let it consume them. They schedule their significant others and families around work, bail on events, take phone calls on family time, are unable to have a conversation about anything but work. I always thought even before becoming a professional that I didn't want to be that person. I wanted to have friends, a family, a husband, children, vacation time, reading good books, seeing good movies, eating good food, all of that stuff, while still having a flourishing career. It doesn't mean that you aren't very passionate about your career, it just means that when it's time to leave the office, you leave the career at the office. I'm not always able to do that but I do strive for it. I'm lucky that I'm around people who are supportive of the dual life, and it seems to be that a good number of workplace are trending toward supporting employee lives outside work in the belief that it makes better employees. And I believe it does. If I'm not talking about work it's partly because of confidentiality but it's also because I'm trying to live the dual life and not be all consumed. I think what needs to be understood that just because you're not full speed ahead on something 24/7 doesn't mean you aren't passionate.
By the way, I owe the world to the Hospice folks who helped my grandmother in her last few days. I could write a book. Thank you.

I have a recipe for potatoes but I don't know where I got it from , I think it's from my mom and she never really had it written down it was more like a pinch of this and a pinch kind of cooking for her!
You get a potatoe and wash it. Then you slice it in half( the long way) and then you slice it again.
You get a piece of aluminum paper big enough to put all 4 slices and to cover
Put olive oil on them , enough for them not to stick and have peel facing down on aluminum paper
Add salt and pepper for flavor
Cut a slice of Monterey cheese and place on top of the potatoe pieces, I used the block cheese
And finally you add a teaspoon ( or less) of hot sauce . I use mild pace for flavor
Wrap the potatoes flat , do not have them on top of each other
Cook until fork can go through
I usually barbecue them but you can put them in oven, just be careful to put them in a pan the olive oil can drip onto oven
I make them this way when I want something different than mash potatoes!

Thanks for the nice compliments on my grandmother-ishness. (lol) All the grandparents and parents here do a great job too.
I want to thank everyone for the last couple weeks of interesting posts and humor and the 'trip' to Cali. I have needed it more than ever before. My mom had a stroke about 2 wks ago. She is doing great but it has been stressful. She is about 2 hrs from me in a hosp. plus I work 2 jobs so every day I can I have driven there to spend time with her. She gets to come home for the day tomorrow and we will celebrate her upcoming 79th birthday. All her kids, grand and great grandkids will be there. I am so excited that she is capable of doing this since she wasn't found for over 24 hrs and had almost no movement in arm and leg at first. Everyday there is remarkable improvement!!

The ROL picture/story will not phase Kate one bit. I suspect Mady doesn't think it's a big deal either. Kate is bullet-proof. If she comments it will be the usual "haters" response claiming they are over-reacting of course. In her head this photo fallout might just get her back on TV defending herself. What Kate fails to see is that her children are growing up. Mady is not a toddler standing in adult shoes, she is a young girl posing in her mother's heels, which is inappropriate for public consumption. Sadly, I think Kate has Mady in her corner, both in need of attention. The child I feel sorry for is Cara. I suspect she wants no part of this nonsense, and is on the outside because of Mady's willingness to support her mother's agenda.
Sad to say i agree Kate is grooming Mady to be her mini-me and seems like Mady might be ok with it. How the pic ended up on Radar must be Kate's doing. My children's schools educate both the students and parents on how to use social media in a positive and APPROPIATE manner.
And one of the bullet points in their lessons is NOT to EVER post inappropriate pictures or pictures that "can be viewed as sexual in nature even if that was not the intent".
They provide examples in class and during the parent meetings of the type of so-called harmless pictures that become a tool for bullying, ridicule, and used for sexual purposes.
Kate's tweet/picture of Mady is exactly what they teach the students NOT to post on the internet of themselves or others.
What is wrong with Kate that she did this to her own pre-teen daughter who is most likely being taught in school not to do exactly what her mother just did this morning???
I agree that Kate will try and twist this to say "haters", "bullies", etc., but only in bizzaro world would people telling her to take down the picture because ther are pedophiles out there who get off on this type of thing be a bad thing. Mady is a young lady now and this posed picture is just not appropriate. Kate needs to think beyond the moment. What looks cute in the privacy of your home is not always appropriate for others to view.
If Mady is okay with it it's because she's doing all she can to stay in Kate's favor. She had to put herself in survival mode. The girl got such bad press when she was younger for rebelling against the filming but has since figured out that going along with Kate will serve her better. When my kids were in HS, Facebook was really taking off, and I was appalled at what was posted and how parents seemed oblivious to risque pictures and behaviors of their teens under the guise of giving the kids privacy. I have found some interesting info re insomnia. I know we've all talked about it recently and cannot remember if Gaba Calm was discussed.
I talked with my doc about my "insomnia" - seems rather than true insomnia I have something called 'shifted sleep pattern disorder".
Like someone else here recently said, I can sleep really well from 4 AM to 12 noon. I don't get sleepy until 4 am, then go on to get a full 8 - 8.5 hours of restful sleep. I'm just not on the same schedule as DH, and same schedule I used to be on. Just wide awake until 4....

Seems like on twitter some time back, Kate didn't mention the kids by name,didn't put up pics, ect., was this around the time Jon was in court asking for her to refrain from putting the kid's on twitter? After a while, she was back to normal, blathering on and on about the kids by name, pics, etc.
It's on tape that Kate and today's child in question had a difficult relationship. Fast forward a few years, now they appear to get along better. Do you think it's due to this child doing whatever it takes to evade the wrath of an emotional abusive parent?
All of her pics are usually of the girls. It would be so good for they boys for their dad to gain full custody. Although there aren't usually pics of them (which is good), it also might signify they are left to their own devices with no supervision (girls are always with mom, doing stuff, trying on shoes, doing hair, etc....boys are no where in sight). I don't want to see pics of the boys, but it makes me wonder where they are when mom is constantly twittering strangers about her daughters.

Well, I wanted to see what all the furor was about so I went to KKs twitter feed to see the pix. KK is out of her frelling mind! Any mother who thinks that it is appropriate to post this pic for God and everyone to view is seriously lacking in the smarts department. I agree, many girls Mady's age, and even younger, post pix like this on the Internet and on Twitter. But, guess what?! They're KIDS! Kids aren't supposed to have adult judgment yet. Her main character, Betsy Devonshire, is retired military, and inherits her sister's needlecraft shop when her sister is murdered. Betsy knows nothing about needlecraft, but she solves her sister's murder and begins to learn about needlecraft. The books are set in Minnesota and are full of quirky characters. Each book introduces a different kind of needlework. Lots of information and there's a pattern included in each book. First of the series is "Crewel World". There are 14 or 15 so far. Most are available for Kindle as well as DTBs. She also has a couple of other series' written under her real name, Mary Monica Pulver, and as Margaret Frazer.

I would have hoped that as a parent Kate would not be so in the dark when it comes to these types of things.
However I will say this. The way she has chosen to dress herself, the way Kate stands and in general poses for pictures the past couple years has been solely inappropriate I think. Her actions I think all the more have perhaps given her kids the view that doing so, following in her footsteps is okay.
Girls today at least what I see from my generation have become so jaded to the fact that having Facebook and other personal accounts that they become friends with people therefore they relax let things slip on occasion because chances are to them it doesn't seem dangerous when you are 12 and such.
That's what parents are for. Yet I think Kate in her off views herself has become jaded to the idea that being inappropriate much be a good thing because it gets her attention. Even if it's mostly negative to her it's better than nothing and perhaps her kids have picked up on this, negative attention from my parents is better than no attention.

Be the adult and think about your choices before you do something that you can and might regret the rest of yourself. "Oh you are special people everyone loves you they want to know everything about it, it's okay to post or take pictures of whatever because people who love you won't see anything wrong with it. It's cute!"
That's a completely wrong message to send to your kids Kate. Fame of being a multiple should not be your own calling in life. You as a mother have to make that choice where you draw the line but clearly you see no reason to.
I sure hope you'll be this relaxed when your 16/17 year old daughter decides to go out dressed like you do in your clothes, your shoes to meet a "fan" without telling you because your message to them is that "fans" are safe people. You can admire someone and be a fan but you have to be aware that their are "fans" who cross lines and you have to be aware of it.

Yes when we were 4 or 5 years old. By the time I was 12 it was ALL ABOUT my OWN shoes.
Just catching up...first and foremost, I send heartfelt sympathies and healing thoughts to all who need them.
Second, I've been loving the crockpot recipes, they all sound so awesome. Mine mostly gathers dust in the cupboard but I've been inspired to clean it up and put some miles on her. (calling it a her doesn't count as naming it right, ;) ).

I hope you're right. On the last episodes of K+8, one boy seemed to be aggressive physically and verbally to the other two. I know boys play roughly at times, but they do need supervision and stimulation or they will get into trouble.

Thank you all for your positive and kind thoughts. I hope whatever we do now, this week, is the best. Sometimes, you wonder about it. But he is suffering so much. Thank you, you don't know how much it means to read these posts about our little Tabby. He is 14 and I guess in cat years, that is considered good. But we lost our older cat, 22, in April. Strange that we would lose both this year. She, Sammi, did not suffer but just went very fast.
