It’s with this that I am writing to inform you of our decision to discontinue Ms. Gosselin’s feature blog on CouponCabin.com. Ms. Gosselin’s contributions garnered both positive attention and criticism, but as always, I respect and appreciate your candid opinions, which often encourage us not to lose sight of our mission — to help YOU save money.

I read Robert Hoffman's book and the one thing that struck me the most - yes, even more than the allegations of abuse - is his statement that he interviewed hundreds of people for the book, all of whom had dealt with Kate in one way or another - and NOT ONE had anything nice to say about her. Back to Kate-- I wouldn't be surprised at all if she's going ahead with producing her own show and sucking her bank accounts dry. No network wants her, so she's got to do it herself. But, who is going to buy it?
She's no Oprah who can start her own network and lose millions and still have more money than God.
Like someone mentioned above, that dating show with 3 women lasted 2 episodes. No one cared.
If Kate had done a dating show 2 years ago, I could see it maybe happening. People loved to hate her. Now, people just hate her.

AFAIK, even the ladies on The View haven't touched her firing from CC and those ladies wanted to know every single detail of her life back in the day.
I'm highly skeptical that she's going to get herself on The View to "set the record straight" and I don't think she wants to tangle with Mr. Kluth.
Sophie, your first post WAS very rude. You started with a condescending "please" and called such posts old and annoying. I'm not going to get upset at anyone for taking offense to that. Kindness and respect will get you far. There are posts I don't care for either but that's what happens when a blog has this many posters. You have to have a certain amount of expectation that you won't love every single post. I happen to like that there is somethinig for everyone here. I really sincerely invite you to email me to discuss your concerns more. I do listen to feedback. But not when it's presented in a manner in which in my firm opinion is meant to inflame and insult.

Wow, excellent info. I presume it to be true as it fits the scenario.
Have to think that the carrier's mental status was such that she didn't/couldn't comprehend the consequences.
I feel like she has been decompensating for a while now. The absolute rock bottom is near. In fact, someone up thread speculated that she might even be in a facility now for 'a rest cure' as the famous folks call it.
I sure hate to think of someone in that kind of situation, as they would then be truly sick, not just a bitch. But...... she brought this on all by herself and for that reason she gets no sympathy from me. In fact, I'd love it if the ubiquitous 'someone' would lock her up and throw away the key. Remove her from polite society where she can't do any harm to herself, others or her kids.
As it seems that 'something' or 'something big' is going on right now that we are not privy to, I discussed with DH and we are just stymied, flummoxed, gobsmacked, bothered and bewildered about how this thing that is her has made it so far along the celebrity path. Imagine us sitting at dinner shaking our heads in profound befuddlement. We drift into the 'what is society coming to' conversation and feel oh, so old.
I have to believe that someday in the middle- distant future a book will be written about all the seedy, horrifying facts of her life; I just hope I am still alive to read it.
Her story is such an indictment of the reality tv industry, the made-up celebrity industry, the HOM for profit scenario and the mental health field.
*** Let me clarify! The "HOM for profit scenario' is linked solely to the carrier, otherwise known as grifty. Other, normal families with 'real' fertility problems are not included in my comment.
And I just have to add a little snark here - I hope you'll forgive me - how in the hell did she convince her doc she had fertility problems after an abortion at 17? Obviously, the parts worked...... and yes, I know that abortions can cause fertility problems due to scarring. Does anyone really think that was the case here? Nah. Several of us are skeptical, although the information does sound plausible. I agree, it would be great for Admin to verify this.
Kate actually endorsed Coffeemate on her website. She also showed a picture of her at the Coffeemate booth during BlogHer12. That may have been her "audition".
Lately it seems like about once a week there is a poster who starts out with a rude comment about this blog and its posters, gets bent out of shape when people call them on it, posts off and on all day defending what they claim was a polite post (it wasn't), and ends up saying "You're a mean girls club. I'm leaving!"
I know I responded to that today. Only because the person did elect to use a name. I usually don't read nor respond to anonymice.
But going forward, not responding to that kind of a post might be the best choice. I hate it when that kind of post hijacks the blog.
If we're going to be OT, I'd rather talk about people's personal stories than the sniping back and forth at each other. Yeah, not all OT's are interesting to me, but I can scroll past those.
I do read every post with a name on it. I laugh at the hysterical posts Dwindle, Auntie Ann, and some of the others post. I feel bad when someone's dog dies, or their mom/dad is having trouble. And I love the posts about the faux leather recliner. Yeah, it could all be a figment of someone's imagination, but it probably isn't.
I love what Admin does with this blog...in that mostly we police ourselves. I like that Admin lets us talk about whatever. Mostly we talk about Kate, but sometimes she's soooo boring.

We just fired someone at my own company for that very thing. The person was approaching our customers trying to sell them a product that they were selling on the side. A BIG no-no, even though the product was unrelated to what we sell. The person was fired the instant that the CEO heard about it. It's against policy. Period.
That's been a policy at every company I've ever worked at. Grounds for instant termination. No questions asked.
LanCM, that's why it's important for her to have a lot of followers...there is a correlation between the amount of followers and compensation. But, that is all over for Kate. She can tweet all she wants, no one is going to give her a cent now.

Kate tweeted a picture of a bottle of Coffeemate on her car dashboard. I never understood why. Maybe it was part of her attempt to get their attention? And on the RV trip she talked about it (fat free version) and included CM in her tweets quite often - she got the twitter name wrong, too. Too funny.
Ignore,Agree? - thank you. I agree with what you posted. We do stand up for own here. I don't think there is any "mean girl" attitude going on. We've gotten to know each other in a way that maybe new posters haven't known yet. I know when I first started posting, I felt like a "newbie" even though I had been reading here for a long time. Eventually I felt I got to know those here better as my interaction with them increased on this blog.
I've read other blogs, but never felt compelled to post until this one. I think that says alot about the "feel" of this blog, and it's a good one.
Okay, regarding Kate possibly soliciting other companies while working for CC, I agree with Mel. That is a big no-no. At most companies I work for, employees are required to sign an agreement that they will not try to solicit business for personal reasons, from current customers.
Considering the businesses Kate came in contact with due to CC, it wouldn't surprise me if she tried to use these contacts for her own personal gain. In my opinion, she is the antithesis of loyalty.
She said that Relaxonthebeach just randomly approached her, out of the blue. Because they had heard about the Gosselins and thought they were such a swell, deserving family.

What is meant by "customers" and "audition"?
Are you saying that she was attempting to grift from companies that were customers of Coupon Cabin? Or was she attempting to represent or to be employed by these customers?

I think that is what Kate/milo's plan has been for a while. Promoting products. Health products, i.e. health guru: make-up, clothes etc. But it's all over now. NO ONE wants to associate with a child and animal abuser. Some people thought it was "cutie" when it was only her husband she was abusing....but now it's not so cutie anymore. She has finally burned all her bridges.
Her life plan...epic FAIL. Maybe she will move to NZ with Steeve, but this will follow her forever. She can run, but she can't hide. Yoga's not going to work either. She can't stop thinking about herself for even one minute.

Where are you reading the tweets? At twitter? Do you have an account there? If so, you need to set the time zone to reflect YOUR time zone correctly. Also, check YOUR computer time settings. Lovemygrandsons, First let me say, I love your stories about your grandsons. I have also read here a long time before I finally did a post, and this is the only blog I've ever posted on. I enjoy all the different personalities, traits, and stories here.
I've also worked in places where it's against the code of conduct to solicit customers and I do believe that this was a major reason that CC fired Kate. Also, I'm sure that other people in the company read the Gosselin Book and as we all know, news spreads fast. People let a lot of Kate's antics fly but child and animal abuse is another matter, nothing justifies abuse. As for Kate this is a very bad case of bad timing, everything is coming out of the bag, bit by bit. Some things just can't be brushed off and I'm sorry to say, Kate has no one else to blame but herself.

Why do you stay here if you don't like the way the blog works?
I have been to blogs that changed, or blossomed into something other than what it was when I started. I just left. I don't feel comfortable telling folks that their posts are not welcome. Now if their posts were rude, off-color or negatively provocative I may make a comment. But I am guessing that the lovely grandmother stories and the fart talk got on your nerves.
Why stay?
Me personally, I have left and come back several times. I didn't like the way things were going so I took a break. Actually, most of the time I've left is when posters get rude and snarky. I just don't have time in my life or energy to make a fuss. I protect myself by walking away.
Why would anyone stay here if they don't like the tenor of the community?
As for Love My Grandsons, I LOVE your stories. You and a few others are the much needed cheery breaks we all need from the carriers incredible bitchiness and the sheeple drive-bys. Keep sharing!

That's a very nice post. i just want to clarify that the whole thing about passing gas started with a brief discussion about elementary school boys, and how they think tooting is just the funneist thing ever, for about a year of two of their childhoods; And how will Kate react when her 3 precious boys get on a giggling rampage about GAS!?! Just like not tying their shoes, leaving their zippers down, and forgetting to comb their hair. ALL BOYS do these things, and will the G boys be beaten even more for doing average little boy things?

I did notice the drastic difference in her looks over these past 12 months since the RV filming. Something very drastic had happened to her looks.
If she had left when Jon said he did not want to film anymore and she said We can never go back, we had no idea how serious she was.

Other posters have stated that Kate is not at home and I truly hope that is the case. She has to be having a meltdown right about now, if not a full blown breakdown, and I pray she is not with the children so they do not have to deal with it. They have been forced to deal with enough in their young lives.

Let's say Kate is a nurse working for a hospital.Patients are in need of wheelchairs and Oxygen to use at home upon discharge and Kate is calling in these referrals to ONE particular company because they are providing her a kickback either in money or in a damn free beach house for a week.
A nurse cannot use her affiliation with the hospital to rope in patients/clients to line her own pocket.
Perhaps she did the same thing with companies that had a working relationship with CC. She came across a LOT of them at the BlogHer convention and instead of shoring up the working partnership between CC and JuiceCompanyRUs, and PROMOTING CC, she bypassed her employer altogether and worked out something on the side to line her own pocket. CC would take some offense to this.

I understand the concern but I really don't think Jon should say a single word right now. I know we want to be reassured, but at the end of the day it's not really our right. I have to trust that they are being done right by Jon and others in the life, and that ultimately it's just better for them that everyone else around them, including Jon, keep them as quiet and protected as possible right now. Anonymous, I think Dwindle was correct. Being in the medical field, I'm glad you chose that as an example. The "kick backs" are illegal by federal law. Any doctor, nurse, or whoever, caught doing that is subject to a fine and jailtime, not to mention they will lose their job because they put the company in jeopardy.
When companies have this rule, they have every right to expect the employees to follow them. If the employees don't, then they will have to deal with the consequences. However, the companies may have to deal with consequences as well because of these employees.

I don't see what is so darn hard to understand about this: It is much easier to follow the conversation when Apple, Orange, Peach and Pear are speaking, than it is to follow Anonymous, Anonymous and Anonymous.

Believe it or not I watched Katie for the first time today. Kate said on Katie that her kids love anyone within 10 seconds and this has been a great thing. Um, it is? Worse is right and it can be lifelong. It shows a pathological need for attention and to be loved. A desperation. Most of us have heard the expression 'she threw herself at the first fella who was ever nice to her...'. Kate says herself in the journals that after at least one infant-beating she felt bad and apologized to baby Collin; consider the psychological damage that does to the mind of an ADULT in an abusive relationship, let alone infants that are growing up with it.
I just hope the kids aren't facing any bullying or backlash at school.

I'm sure Kate expected a dozen roses and a card.
I have such mixed feelings about the latest turn of events for Kate. There is no doubt she is suffering a mental illness and cannot control her actions through normal intellectual processing. She sought and found fame, she exploited her children, she demeaned her husband and then believed she outgrew them all because the camera became the most important thing in the room. Overtime, that same camera exposed the truth about Kate, her family members became props, expendable, disposed of and dealt with appropriately if they went off-script. She took complete and utter control. TLC was getting the ratings so acquiesced to her demands, and thus began Kate "unplugged".
The downward spiral began after the cancellation of the show, but the dye had been set. Kate saw herself as an in-demand super star, even though she had been dumped. As with many "stars" who live in a bubble no one wanted to slap her back to the reality that lives outside reality television.
I take no satisfaction in seeing Kate crash and burn because she has 8 children who still need their mother. My wish for her is to disappear from the public eye, get help, focus on the children who brought her such fortune and fame and live an authentic life. Will this happen?, I am doubtful because she simply needs to be at the centre of the universe. This sadly seems to be the hard truth, no-one knows better than Kate, not TLC, her family, her friends, her ex-husband, nobody!
What has changed is along came a champion of her children who outed her, albeit briefly, and the entire facade has come crashing down. As dee3 said, the piling on now seems unstoppable. She is done. The test that stands in front of her is whether or not she can accept her time in the spotlight is officially over.
The world now is seeing the truth in bits and pieces, and if she was sincerely interested in protecting her children from the tsunami that is coming, she would go quietly in to the night.

I'm wondering if this was simply a lack of doing their due diligence when they hired her. How many times over the years were we all frustrated when Kate was a guest on a show and wondered if the interviewer even knew who she was....or had done ANY research about her or ever watched any of the episodes? I remember feeling frustrated for quite some time.
For such a long time it seemed to be the "Emperor with no Clothes" phenomenon.....everyone who interviewed her, spoke about her on TV shows, wrote about her in articles.....went along with this completely false facade........appearing to never have even bothered to check out who she was.
Which wouldn't be all that big a deal.......BUT for the fact that in the end they were cluelessly sailing along with the fake facade of someone who many of us suspected was a child-abuser.
What I love about the letter from the CEO of CC is that it could be seen as a reproach to all (including themselves) who tacitly supported her and her false facade. He may have done it to protect his company and his charities but....finally.....someone had the cojones to publicly crack her false facade......and all who sailed along tacitly supporting her false facade should have egg on their faces.....because in essence, they looked the other way.
I'd love to see TLC/Discovery's feet be held to the fire too....for supporting and protecting a woman who treated her children the way she did. The proof was probably all over the cutting-room floor...and they should be ashamed of themselves. And any of the news outlets and entertainment venues that looked the other way should be ashamed too.

I was THIS close when the 32 year olds started to look for a house....to start a family....and then reversed the planned order and he decided to start his own business....and the grandchild was put on the back burner for now. It probably does happen all the time but it is illegal as heck. If a doctors' office is accepting any Medicare payments, CMS has very strong regulations about it. It is grounds for losing licenses and for Medicare audits going back years and for any incorporated medical entity to be banned from receiving any medicare reimbursements in the future. It gets funky at holidays when facility staff cant even accept handmade potholders from patients or families; the only thing that can be accepted from a contracted company or a patient is something like a box of candy that can be set out and enjoyed by all.
Who knows what CC expected or did or did not write in her contract. But there is no denying that she used her time and contacts at BlogHer to promote herself and not her employer.
On the other hand I have a friend who owns a bar/resturant and you can bet the 'kickbacks' flow freely! She gets all kinds of stuff if she can sell X amount of RedBull for example. That is why when you go to a place and ask for Coke they might say 'sorry, we ONLY have Pepsi owned products here'.

Bingo.
Kids with indiscriminate affection (usually seen in foster kids, abused kids, neglected kids) will have sex right away so as not to lose their girlfriend or boyfriend. They are not content to just be in a relationship for a fair amount of time, they want to be married within months. Inevitably this results in multiple divorces.
Even regular friendships can be dysfunctional when they dive head first into friendships only to be taken advantage of. Or, they will do things they shouldn't to keep the friend, like do drugs or do a dangerous dare.
It's so scary. I hope they get help for this. It's not normal or GOOD Kate, God.

Kate's been a Phoenix that rises from the ashes, reinventing herself each time. but time has told the story of what we all know and that is that Kate has little to no follow through. She flits from shiny ball to shiny ball. Her efforts always peter out eventually.
Her blog is a mess that she never put the hard work into. No one will touch a cookbook of hers and she's got herself to blame with the crap photos of what the kids eat, what there is of it. Kate claims to be a fitness expert but has so many food hang ups, and has shown time and again she is ignorant of nutrition and exercise physiology (muscle weighs more than fat anyone?). Kate also is busted as a cook because she's been outed as having a personal chef, so yeah, she's not the full time organicish cook she claims to be.
Every moniker she tries to put on fails because she flits to something else but most of all, she shoots herself in the foot, mainly with Twitter. No one would know that her dinners are not organic, but from a can, if she hadn't tweeted photos and recipes. We'd think she perhaps could be a quasi-expert at exercise but she says stupid stuff and by all accounts she's got an eating disorder.
There's just no follow through. No real traditions. That shifting ground beneath the children's feet must be a nerve-racking way to live.

Years ago when I came out of college and couldn't find a job....I volunteered for a few years at a Head Start day care center and I remember the head teacher there explaining to me (because I was seeing several of the children there doing this)....that a child who exhibits inappropriate overly-affectionate behavior towards strangers is often a victim of child abuse.

Regarding all of us wondering if Kate can, like the Phoenix, rise again.....do I think she can? No. Do I think Kate realizes that? No.
And it's because someone....finally....spoke the horrific words..."child abuser" and "animal abuser". There's just no coming back from that.
And what's so weird is that most of us suspected (and "suspected" is an understatement) that she was abusing the children and the dogs............yet, with all the rumors and whisperings behind the scenes....so many publicly looked the other way.
I would bet every dollar I have that there have been rumors and whisperings about this behind the scene for years. People in the entertainment industry usually know the deal. OT Rant!
Are people in other states experiencing this problem that I am having in IL? It's an election year and we are getting an abundant amount of pre-recorded phone calls from the candidates.
I HATE pre-recorded calls. If someone wants to talk to me and they call me, there had better be a "live" person on the other end or I immediately hang up. I just recieved my 9th call tonight. Usually we get between 6 and 10 calls every day, many of them on the answering machine.
Are politicians really that dumb that they think that people listen to their 3 minute pre-recorded messages? Do they really think these messages endear us to their point of view?
I am a registered voter and vote in every election, but it's times like these, with these phone calls and junk mail, that I think maybe I should stop registering!
I don't really mean that; I'm just venting. Rant over.

My sister volunteers at a shelter in Maine. She goes to the shelter and spends hours walking dogs because they are caged. The time outside is so theraputic for them. Otherwise life for them is hell. Just a cage and they have no idea why this happended to them.
I hate that bitch. There is a place for her, hopefully, big ole diaapers in the a dirty rotten rest home.

We are getting at least a half dozen calls a day from morning to night. I've gotten to the point that if I don't recognize the foreign area code, I pick up and hand up.

I really do want a grandchild THAT bad but...and I'm not trying to be a martyr here....but I really do also worry about my sons and their wives waiting too long. I've seen some true suffering years ago when friends ran into infertility problems because they waited too long.....and it really worries me and I want to protect them from that....because they've said they want to have children.
But I'm in a precarious position because they know how badly I want at least one.....and it can make me look a bit disingenuous when I give them the "missed window of opportunity" speech.
But what does "missed window of opportunity" mean to them....in their late 20's and early 30's? They think they have TONS of time....want to have every single planned thing in place before they start their "family".
I tried to tell him...."have the baby first...I'll take care of him/her for you...and THEN start the new company"....but then I just had to drop it.
But it's truly gonna kill me if I have to watch them suffer for this later down the road. I don't think you really understand missed opportunities until you hit your 60's or so. They just don't understand the "no going back" like we do.
My eye doctor sent me an appointment reminder card and on the back of it there was this photo of this little boy who looked to be about 4 years old in eyeglasses....and there's just nothing cuter than a little boy in eyeglasses......so I put the picture on my refrigerator....along with other family photos.
And when my sons were visiting, they asked who he was....and I told that I'd sent in my order for my grandson and that was him....and they just chuckled. And I've kept my mouth shut since.
And...just to make this topical....it adds to my frustration at Kate's seeming lack of gratitude for her healthy and beautiful children.

I think that Kate's treatment of Shoka was the final straw for many sheeple. Smack your kid and get caught? Sure! Go ahead...it's your kid blah blah. But when it comes to animals, it can really strike a nerve.

dee3, I know my aunt and uncle understand your frustration. The majority of aunts/uncles in my mother's family were having babies since they were 18. However, one of my uncle's and his wife could not get pregnant. They went to doctors and tried everything they said, but there was no pregnancy.
They began to check into adoption, and then it happened. I think it was their 16th wedding anniversary that my aunt told my uncle she was pregnant. And then one year later, she was pregnant again. They had my cousins late in life, and now they are grandparents because the oldest one had twin boys 7 years ago.
The Lord does work in His own time frame, and that is my belief.

So I followed Katie Irene's advice on saving money on gas, and I, too, bought a sports car. Yes- I now get to choose from 2 cars to drive- an SUV, or my sports car, which, BTW, takes Premium gas! Who knew? Cuz Kate didnt tell me that in her blog. So now I have a new car payment every month, plus insurance on the new car- but guess what? I am saving $$ when I run errands in my new car! I have been reading all the posts here, as I have everyday for years, and in regards to the 'core group/regulars'...I'm hoping this doesn't come off as bashing in any way but....sometimes it's very hard for new (to posting) people here to feel included. Sure we get the initial 'Welcome' but after that, not much.
I have posted a few times on the last few threads and not one, single person even acknowledged any one of them, in any way.
That's actually fine, my feelings are truly not hurt but it has definitely has made me reconsider posting here. Why bother? If nobody notices, cares or whatever, I may as well just stick to reading here only again.
All I'm trying to say is, no...it's NOT a 'mean girl club' in any form but it IS, perhaps, a solid group who already have enough of 'their people' to converse with and maybe just don't want to really bother allowing anybody new into the fold. I have read a ton of comments made by new names since the book, the firing, etc. people just having a blurb or two to say and they get nothing from the majority of the clique. I myself have wanted to jump on a few times JUST to acknowledge somebody's comment as many were ignored. Unless its a shit stirrer...then you guys are all over that. In fact, somebody today made a statement about not letting anybody say anything bad to 'one of US'.
Is that what this blog is now? One big solid group, no room left to really include new posters? It's just kind of sad to me as I know, for a lot of folks, jumping on to a blog and commenting can be a scary endeavor. Being ignored after finally having the guts to post will keep a lot of very food and fun people excluded...they won't bother trying to post again. It's happened to me here and I've watched it happen daily to others.

I re-read "Clan of the Cave Bear" while on vacation last month and loved it again. Just started reading book two in the series "The Valley of Horses". I remember reading this one as well when it first came out but never realized the author had continued to add to the series. I was sorry to read on Amazon that the last book in the series "The Land of Painted Caves" received just terrible reviews. Looking forward to reading 2 - 5 anyways!

Most posts don't get commented on. It isn't personal. Sometimes we all say the same thing with different approaches. There is an understood agreement.
Yes, there are a few STAR posters who have a wicked way with words. They stand out with humor and insight.
But, they would be the first to say that we are ALL important to the success of this blog.

Not entirely true. Kate is simply a cruel, nasty, over-the-top controlling, , greedy, selfish, spiteful, wretched person and mother...period. She has zero compassion for others, including her own kids. She doesn't even have a good & loving relationship with members of her own family, has no friends unless they are paid, is abusive to her dog(s) and treated Jon HORRIBLY. She has never been kind to anyone...ever. She is all about using people, grifting from others..and her only concern in life has always been herself, her sought after fame and her money.

What I think needs to be understood is that even if you look at this thread alone, there are many posts, posts even of mine, the admin, that don't exactly have a "response" to them. That doesn't mean they are not read or enjoyed. I'd go so far as to say a good 30-40% of my posts don't exactly get a direct response. I made a joke the other day that I thought was pretty funny--no response. But I'm not going to sit here sulking thinking no one liked it. I hope a few people laughed, I hope they probably did, and that's cool. I don't require them to post about spitting their coffee. I know if they could they would. So if you come here and only post a few times that's not really giving it a fair chance since all of us have times when posts aren't responded to.
And especially if your post is a general comment, and not really asking a question or igniting some kind of debate, all the more likely it might not get a response.
I really think people just have to be patient that there are a lot of comments here and that a lot of comments don't get a response because there's simply too many to respond to each and every one.
Keep posting. Post frequently. Ask a question, pose a debatable issue. I respond to whatever post strikes my fancy, I don't care whose name is on it. Anonymous, a newbie, or a regular.
Perfect example--I never responded to whoever suggested Clan of the Cave Bear last month. It was probably too late at night or some other reason I couldn't get on. But I did happen to see it at my library and got it and read it. Now, a month later, I'm chiming back in to say thanks, whoever you were, I enjoyed it. Just because a response doesn't happen doesn't mean it wasn't appreciated.
Kirkland, good point. One sighting? There should be more. Hiding? Probably regrouping and Steve is her support and master planner.

When I started posting, many of my posts were not acknowledged, as some of them still are not. That's just the way it is with so many posters on this good blog. However, it's not a slight. I do not always respond to all posts that I read and others do not always respond to mine.
We respect each other and the varied opinions, and enjoy the respectful posts from everyone here. Please do not feel left out, and we welcome your posts, even if they are not always acknowledged.

I'm 60 and only ventured onto the internet a few years ago and my first experience with a social community was a message board. And later, when I first came to blogs, it kinda threw me because on a message board....if you start a thread and nobody posts on it...you clearly feel ignored. On a blog, it's a bit different, especially when lots of commenters are on and the conversation is streaming all in one place.
My initial experience on a message board taught me that I had to control my impulsiveness (and I don't tend to be an impulsive person) if I perceived that someone had criticized or insulted me. Just the most minor criticism on the internet feels like you were slapped in front of an entire audience.....so I learned self-control when it came to responding to anything I perceived as criticism. Today's episode with Sophie is a good example......the internet can make one feel much more touchy than they'd feel in real life, I've learned.
And on a message board, you can have multiple different discussions going on but on different threads....whereas on a blog, they are all happening simultaneously. I learned that while I was writing a comment.....especially when many are here at the same time....by the time I post it, the conversation has moved down a different road or roads. And I learned I don't have to reply to every single comment that mentioned my name (I always feel the need to do that...like sending thank you notes). In fact, on days like today (and this evening), I'm laughing so hard at so many clever comments that I want to jump on and clap and yell bravo to every single one....but it's just impossible on a blog format. It just moves along too fast....and all in one place.
I've actually found this particular blog to be THE most welcoming and friendly of all the ones I've been on....but it helps to just write what you feel strongly or passionate about, do not necessarily expect anyone to acknowledge it, expect the stream to flow very fast especially when many commenters are here, expect that there will be comments made between certain members here that you may not be able to follow as you might have missed the interaction being referred to.....and above all....extend a LOT of friendship. If you show lots of appreciation for what others are writing and mention them by name....others will do likewise.
And just keep commenting. Just becoming familiar with seeing your name repeatedly will go a long way too.
LBelle -- If you notice, many posts are not acknowledged in any way. Given the sheer volume of posts here, it's impossible. That doesn't mean that your posts aren't read and appreciated. Often, the post that is responded to is the one that strikes a cord with another reader or calls up a memory, or raises a new issue. Please don't be put off, or decide to stop posting, because each of your posts aren't commented on.
Grandsons -- During the last presidential election, I had a landline, with an unlisted number and was on the "Do Not Call" list. I still got huge numbers of robocalls. It was instrumental in my deciding to drop my landline and go with cell only. So far, this year, I haven't had a single robocall. This past w/e, I dog sat for some friends. Their phone rang constantly, and it was almost always a robocall. Just for the halibut I kept a tally for a couple of hours. There were 7 robocalls, 5 from Repubs and 2 from Dems.
I love "Clan of the Cave Bear" and the subsequent books in the series. Admin, if you haven't read them all, you are missing out. IMO, the 3rd book in the series, "The Mammoth Hunters", is the best after "Clan", and the 4th, "The Plains of Passage" is the weakest, but they are all very readable. They're also great to listen to.

I worry about that too. DD1 says they will not be having any. DD2 is not in a serious relationship; DD3 is having health problems. I too have made a few silly comments over the years but I have stopped now. Not MY MOTHER however! She looks at her granddaughters, taps her watch, and says "Tick Tock, girls!" Omg! I will never be that bad.
There is nothing I can do about it. They all live out of state and i would be like aggiemom, full of tears everytime I have to look at video only. I am doing a great deal right now to assist my nephew in being a single dad, and maybe that is where my attention is meant to be. (assist with care etc, not $$). Maybe I am just supposed to be completely available to be the best great-aunt for that beautiful toddler girl.
