Why does she always have to involve her kids in "her" lies???
Wow, there's 20 minutes of my life I'll never get back. I hadn't intended to watch it, but I really wanted to see if the book question would make it to air.
It did.
Her answer, "I've been advised to not comment. I will at a later date, but right now I can't say anything to that."
The rest of it was the same gobblydegook. Kids miss the cameras, I'd do a dating show, can't go back to nursing because my paycheck would go straight to the babysitter...yadda, yadda.
In the end, it was a total fluff piece and Kate once again got her ego stroked.
Oh, and she was dressed more conservatively than I've ever seen her. Pants and a sweater that came up to her neck. Someone obviously gave her some advice on that issue.
I would assume that the school made it a requirement that she bring a tutor on the trip (esp for the twins) in order to clear the time off. But, that's just my assumption.

Yeah, it's better if the kids can stay in their school. So follow the rules, and keep them at school instead of pulling them out for filming.

I wish Katie would have said "how would it take your whole nursing salary to hire a babysitter right now. You have one 20 hours per week you said and that would be the same amount you'd need if working. How do you afford one for 20 hours per week without working."
Her estimate of 15-20 hours per week is probably low and even at that amount, basically confirms on school days she is not home alone with her own kids at all.
My one positive comment is this is the most appropriate she's ever been dressed for a daytime talk show. No glittery minidress.
Perhaps Robert will treat us to a review of Kate's "performance" on Katie Couric.

It has punished the kids far more that so few have stood up to Kate than it ever would for this school to stand up to her about Australia. She needed to be told no means no, in the long run it would have helped not hurt the kids.

1. life is good, crazy, mentions homework, showers, etc.
2. Kids doing great in school-Sept. worst month of year.
3. Babysitter-15 to 20 hrs. week-trying to do everything by herself.
4. Says she was uptight during 6 season-trying to get teary eyed.
5. Regarding Jon--she didn't do everything perfect, did what is best for kids, kept peace because of kids. Doesn't blame show for marriage ending-signs were always there.
Uses the classic line-"I'm doing the best for my kids"
6. Dating-no time, kids always bring it up. Kids miss "man role" in the house.
7. "I, honestly, cannot say". "I really cannot comment" (leg starts shaking)
8. Said she was bullied as a kid.

kate's segment.. I saw a woman that is very insecure with herself. She was a total nervous wreck. I was watching the crowd reactions (when shown) and you could see a lot of stern looks,IMO. Sure, there was a few that were all happy and excited but very few. Keep in mind that these shows have people stand on the side and tell you to stand up,clap loudly and smile. Many people know that this book is out and she is well aware of this. Katie C is well aware of her and her actions and she tried to throw some really tough questions in(which you could tell Kate hated) while still trying to be profesional and polite. Kate knows she's done and doing anything and everything she can (she admitted this on the show) to stay in the spotlight..... Stick a fork in her.. She's done.
Abby Lee Miller.. I have caught a few segments here and there of her show Dance Moms and didn't like. Thought it was scripted and not my cup of tea.... But I will say this, I liked how she kept it real and she flat out told it like it was to the moms on their segment. I can understand the moms reactions (I'm a parent,too) to Abby's harsh coaching....but that's what she is.. a coach/teacher. If you don't like her then take your money and go elsewhere.
Back to Kate.. You really could see a woman that is just broken down and desperate.

Once again, in lower school, parents sometimes do take their kids out of school without severe consequences, but there must be permission, work must be made up, and they must be on track with their classmates when they return. The academics are worked out before they leave. It is in the middle and upper school that there are severe consequences.
I saw part of this interview with Katie. There were many Umm's and Honestly's, as usual. Yes, the kids ask every night when she will date. She can't do nursing because she would be working "every day, 12 hours a day and she'd just have to hand her paycheck to the babysitter". Right. Every nurse works 12 hours a day, every single day.
Everything she does is for the kids and she is always thinking of the kids. Does everything in a positive manner and takes the high road, etc. Does anyone believe any of this? Umm, no. Said something about how she is the sole support of the kids. She tried to equate herself with Katie by saying something about how "WE are in the public eye"meaning Katie and herself. Said (again) how the kids were never harmed by being on tv. They miss the trips and the crew.
Her face was really made up. Did anyone else notice her blotchy neck? It was getting really red and blotchy. I'm guessing from nerves. She did try to turn on the tears at one point.
I think it was pretty easy to tell that Katie wasn't buying her BS. I also had read that Katie said in an interview that the moms of multiples were her least favorite people to interview. LOL.
Keep in mind that these shows have people stand on the side and tell you to stand up,clap loudly and smile.

I think that we can't look out for the kids, bottom line. Admin and others have reminded us that it takes a ridiculous amount of abuse and neglect for a mother to lose custody and say in raising her children.
So, the who is Kate. No one else can. Even Jon can't flex his paternal muscles as will.
After Jon, I believe it's legislators who must try to help the children, and not just the G kids (it's too late, let's face it), but all current and future children whose participation in reality television produces income for their parents.

I'm apologizing before I start, because I am INCENSED after watching Katie today and NOT knowing Queen Supreme was on. After I post this, I will start from the beginning and read ALL comments.
My life has been one upside-down mess in the past few months, including being home now without a car after a hit-and-run accident when I was rear-ended at a stop light. I'm not whining, just explaining why, after being a reader and poster here from the INCEPTION of this blog, I've been totally out of touch lately.
From Barbra Streisand to the likes of Kate Gosselin...ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I missed the first 5-7 minutes, so can someone tell me what kind of reception Kate received? And tough questions from Katie Couric...unless they were in the first 7 minutes, I didn't hear any...all I heard was Kate's non-stop ummm's and double talk and never answering a question directly. "All I want is what is best for my kids"...OMG, my head was spinning and I was thinking, "This is the MOST BORING WOMAN ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH."
She had no sooner said she didn't have time to date than to go on to say she'd like to do a dating show...HUH????????? More double talk.
The Gosselin book has ALREADY been pulled from shelves...before I have a car and can go get a copy...and she has NOT ONE, BUT TWO law firms working on her behalf. I HATE THAT LYING, MANIPULATIVE, GRIFTING BITCH...how in the hell does she continue to get away with her B.S.

I'd like to stand Kate Gosselin up on a date. She seems like she needs to be knocked down a few pegs.
Ok...just played back the interview with the Katie's on my DVD muted after I watched it with sound so that I could just watch the facial expressions and body language. First of all, I think every action on kreider's part was in response to the book. Robert said she's all about Hollywood and boobs and being a glamazon and so she shows up today dressed very conservatively and with the girls hidden. Her neck started getting red when Kate c. Directed her questions to Kate being so rigid etc. and that's when Kate started her "I used to be's" which also was in response to Robert's book trying to get people to believe she has changed. I am still getting sooo tired of her "I do everything myself and am raising these kids on my own" crap. That's Kate speak for I don't get any money but she conveniently leaves out that she doesn't have the kids 50% of the time either. When Kate talks to her about the book and the allegations, I believe the downcast eyes were a body language message of guilt and shame. I think this was the first interview I have seen her in where she seemed out of her element rather than in her element. She also out her foot in her mouth proving that she can't stand being with her kids because she said "I think all moms agree that the goal and the reward is when tou do get them in bed"....who the fric says that when their kids have already been out of the house for 10 hours that day? I could tell Katie couric really doesn't like her. Kate gosselin is toast!
I watched part of it until I couldn't stand it anymore. Kate looked very nice, great outfit, conservative, she wasn't orange, hair was combed, but with that ultra-light hair, she still exudes the Malibu Barbie persona. If she gets that hair cut and adds lots of lowlights, she could look halfway attractive...on the outside, that is.

I can only speculate Heide - but I think it might be that those who believe Jon is an equally bad parent as Kate (or worse), or cannot forgive him for past mistakes no matter how he seems to be doing better for the last couple of years and obviously working hard to get those children more and more - must have issues either with their own fathers or perhaps ex-husbands. It just seems like there is an overlay of personal anger toward a male figure in their own lives, which they have transferred onto Jon.
I agree that Jon is far from perfect, but as you said, the physical affection and love those children have for Jon and he for them - is obvious. He was and is the hands-on parent. He came home from a full days work only to have Kate hand the children over to his care. He bathed them, got them into pajamas, helped them brush their teeth, tucked them into bed, every night.
On the show, we would see Jon actually playing with the kids - riding bikes or a skateboard. Playing dress up. Having fun with his children. We saw how they hugged him tightly goodbye and wanted many kisses. (I guess now we know another reason they hated to see him leave - no buffer between them and Kate and her handy dandy spanker).
We have seen Jon come back to his senses, take jobs that might seem "mediocre" to some, search for a stable relationship, and pretty much stay out of the limelight. We see that he was always working toward obtaining more custody of his children.
Yet some people would say that Jon is no better than Kate. No better than Kate. That blows my mind. They consider Jon as terrible a person and parent as the one who did the beatings, the one who forced the kids to work even while their father tried to stop it, better than the parent who demeaned them, was cruel to them, cut them off from their father and tried to alienate them from Jon. Yet in some people's eyes, Jon is just as bad as Kate.
It has to be based on something that has occurred in those people's own lives, some betrayal (real or imagined) by a father or husband.
LOL... Did anyone catch what she said that led her into the "kids want a new boyfriend for mommy"? She said while serving "2nd helpings of dinner to the kids". I just thought that was funny because it it discussed here so much that she doesn't feed them enough. Kinda made you think that she reads here.
There were no follow up questions to her nursing conment, etc. because Katie doesn't care.
I just realized that In trying to keep up with this discussion and read all the comments I am spending way too much of my time on Ms. Gosselin.
The book has validated what everyone has suspected.
CPS was alerted to the contents of the documents Robert Hoffman had.
According to Admin's sources and others, Jon is actively involved and has the kids 50/50. He allegedly has made sure they have had therapy. The school sounds like it is working quietly to ensure the kids needs are met, based on the "last summer" discussion here. By Kate's own words she has a nanny. She says the nanny is there 15-20 hours a week which likely means 30-40 hours a week which probably means 4 to midnight.
I think at this point the kids are as secure as they can be without Jon having 100% custody which probably isn't going to happen. Jon is no saint. But it sounds like he is trying to change and I pray that is the case.
Kate is highly unlikely to ever be back on tv as anything but a "former reality star". I wish her luck and pray she gets the help both her children deserve and she desperately needs.
I won't say I will never pop back on here but I think I am truly done. My life is so much richer and full than Ms. Gosselin's and that is where I should be focusing my time and energy.

If you do not live in the same media market as Pity Party, this is not likely to be the case. Typically talk shows are not owned by the national networks, they are syndicated. This is why "Ellen" may be broadcast at 1pm on the local ABC affiliate in Tulsa OK (just an example, can't actually speak for the Tulsa market) and it airs on the NBC affiliate at 3pm in Philadelphia.
On a positive note the book was most likely not known of to the general population who do not follow these blogs. Now that it has been mentioned on Katie more people are aware that there is a book that has been halted due to unflattering (to put it mildly) information pertaining to Kate. So now more people are wondering what was printed in the book. I think the book will be released for sale again eventually and more of the population that might not have been aware of it will be looking for it to purchase.
Also, don't you think that, with the exception of sheeple, most people realize that Kate's answers are BS? Imagine the viewing audience at home could very well consist of people who have lost their jobs and imagine their thoughts when Kate, who lives in a mansion, poo pooed the idea of taking a job in nursing.
I wish she would just admit the whole point of exploiting the kids was so she would never have to work again. If she goes back to work then her whole plan was all in vein.

Someone wrote a comment on the huffington post article that TLC is scrambling for damage control because of what Robert said about them being aware of the child abuse and yet kept on filming instead of reporting it and that TLC stands for "terrorizing little children"'....

She's a broken record. My parents had 8 kids. My mom made it look easy. We were spread out somewhat, but no matter whether you have them all at once, or one at a time, having 8 kids is a lot of work. The main difference between my mom and Kate is .... EVERYTHING!
My parents wanted children, loved us, and treated us with love and respect. My mom never complained, always had a smile and warm hug waiting for us when we got home, listened to our little problems, consoled us when we were sad, was stern with us when we were unruly, laughed at our silly jokes, listened to our dreams, hopes and fears, wiped away our tears, and was in all ways an amazing mother. I wish for all children to have such a blessing as that.
Kate, you soil the word "mother". Your children deserve sooooo much more and I hope it is in their near future to be spending 100% of their time with their father. The only thing you are fit to care for is a pet rock.

I have a computer at home that both my son and I use. We both know the password. It might be hard to figure out manually, but as others have pointed out - you'd be surprised how easy it is to crack a password with one of many programs available these days.
It really doesn't matter in the scheme of things. It's like tossing out a safe in the garbage. If someone breaks it open, or figures out the correct sequence - the end result is the same. You get the contents inside. Same thing re Hoffman digging that computer out of the trash. One person's trash was another man's proof of Kate's true nature.

Emschick: you know why, Kate really does not want to go back to nursing: cause it is work, it is dirty sometimes, and Kate is a germaphoic. Basicly, Kate does not want to break a nail or get dirty. I don't buy that crap, she would not make enough money. Kate would only need some one when she worked the night shift, and right after school. A lot of nurse, don't work 12 hour shifts, if Kate worked in a clinic, or doctor office, she would not be working 12 hours. Or even at say Walgreen clinic or CVS. Kate just does not want to work.

kate's segment.. I saw a woman that is very insecure with herself. She was a total nervous wreck. I was watching the crowd reactions (when shown) and you could see a lot of stern looks,IMO. Sure, there was a few that were all happy and excited but very few. Keep in mind that these shows have people stand on the side and tell you to stand up,clap loudly and smile. Many people know that this book is out and she is well aware of this. Katie C is well aware of her and her actions and she tried to throw some really tough questions in(which you could tell Kate hated) while still trying to be profesional and polite.

I walked into another room that had this channel on and I saw about the last half of it. I agree totally.
Kate's still being coached and knows how to pivot on the questions. Couric pressed professionally and politely and now here's the good news. Couric is the first to ask her question in the form of a statement.

She came at Kate from multiple angles, and despite the spin, Couric's point was made. She's good.

It's a minor thing I know, but it does change the context and even with just two kids, I often felt the same way.
Sweet tart I couldn't agree more. The transgressions don't seem proportionate to the hate. Even Kate was given about 100 chances by most before people started calling her out. Why isn't Jon allowed the same chances? To me that just affirms some of what the sheeple are saying, that we expect parents to be perfect. Personally that's far from what I expect at all.

Exactly. She is the one who contacted the media, made an "audition" tape, wrote to production companies and volunteered her children to market clothing lines and products.
Exploiting her kids is her career and she's not giving it up without a fight.
Here's my take on the interview. It aired here at noon, and if will be on again at 3:00 pm, so I will look for the blotchy neck then. What struck me first was how she was dressed, slacks and a conservative sweater. Her hair extensions were obvious, and her hair colour more blond than ever. Her skin looked much better, and the make-up was well-done. In short, if you didn't know the personality behind the look, I would say she looked appropriately made-over for what she had to know was coming her way. She looked demure, (for Kate).
Katie Couric did not give her a free pass. She questioned Kate motives for ever putting her children on television in the first place, why she wouldn't just be happy to fade away. She asked if it was true she is pitching a dating show, and if the divorce could have been avoided if they had never been on television.
IMO, Kate had been coached to show she can take herself less seriously, to take responsibility for her harshness and to generally come across as softer. Kate did just that, but my sense is that no-one was buying, not Katie Couric, and not the audience either.
Katie acknowledged that she had received tweets wanting her to ask the hard questions, and in her upbeat, bubbly way, I guess she did. Kate Gosselin had to have known the questions about the book were coming. She deferred to her two
very capable law firms, and said she could not talk about it. Katie did mention there were charges of abuse in the book, (although I would have to see it again to be certain she actually used the word abuse).
So, in short, going on Katie's show to pitch whatever it is she's pitching was/is more important than taking the heat over child abuse. Fame on television still trumps everything else in Kate's world.

Now, wouldn't that be a novel idea? Kate is holding out for a deal in "show biz." That's my opinion of her and I think she will go broke waiting for that deal to happen. So good of the 8 children to support their mother in such a fine style. She will always be a "greedy grifter" in my estimation. She needs to be ignored, not interviewed on television. She's had so much work done to her face, hair, teeth. She looks so plastic and fake.
I am one of the few who never thought she was attractive, but she passed for 'cute'. The one thing she had going for her was she had a full head of hair, healthy, thick...now it's been reduced to over processed straw, and it doesn't even flatter her. She looked better with shorter hair, that long hair just elongates her face. She'd also look more natural if she'd tone down the brassy tone, and go with something closer to her natural color.
I bet those veneers are going to be an expensive upkeep.
As far as her skin, lighting and tons of makeup took out all the lines.

Really Kate, then why did you renewed your vows in August 2008 if there were signs your marriage wasn't working out. I don't believe they were madly in love to renew their vows in August 2008 and yet months later talking on TV about a possibly separation.
And there is no way for Jon and Kate to have gotten divorced if there was no filming. They would have been in financial difficulty with no filming raising 8 kids. So how could they afford two households with just Jon and Kate's salaries. Wasn't Jon making around $35,000 working as an IT for the govt. And Kate probably wasn't making over $65,000 as a nurse.
They couldn't divorce even if they really wanted to because of that issue alone.
P.O. I looked up on salary.com what RN's make in Reading and Lancaster PA today. The average was about $68,000. And if a nurse works a 12 shift it is usually 3 times a week. My sister does this. But they are paid for 40hrs. Kate always states that she would be working 12hr. shifts everyday. That is pure BS and she knows it.

I was thinking about the information in Robert's book that every one of Jon's weekends, Kate had tasks lined up for him; Doctor's appointments, dental appointments, all kids need shoes, etc. My first reaction was that most of that then could be JON's expense, not Kate's. Co Pay on office visits, cost of shoes etc. She is just that cheap as well as lazy.
And then she could have a list of reasons to bitch! Jon didnt get the doctor's visit correct, didnt buy the right shoes, etc.

Guess it depends on where you live with regard to a nurses salary. My older daughter is a nurse at a hospital in Boston and her base pay is over $80,000 per year. She makes a boatload with overtime. The last time she was home she told me what her hourly wage was(for the 7am - 3pm shift, it goes up depending on the shift and time and a half for overtime) and she had to pick my jaw up off the floor. But hell she got her education and works her tail off so she and the other nurses are worth it. Kate won't go back to nursing because it is hard work. And nobody would probably hire it.

There was a story a while back, I can't remember whether it was from Julie's blog or when Jodi and Kevin spoke out; that the film crew called them because Kate was mad at Jon and throwing oranges from the fruit bowl at him. Jodi couldn't calm down the situation, so the camera crew left for the day and came back the next day to finish filming. Does anyone remember this? OR have I been following this cesspool to long?

Katie didn't defend her fans when Kate G. said that people who don't like her should concentrate on their own families and kids. That's when Katie should have said " many of my fans who tweeted me are mothers and are concern that there are allegations that you lifted your 2year old child's hair because he ate your M&Ms! " WTH!! Is she going to get away with being a child abuser!
My personal opinion the abuse did not start when the kids were 2 and they continue to be abused! Apparently it's going to stop when the her kids stop her!

Admin 183-I totally agree, I'm sure this show was booked in advance, and before the book came out. I am glad Katie at least addressed the book issue--I think others would have glossed over it, or not say anything at all.
It may not mean much right now, but the book has been addressed both on The View and on Katie, both nationally syndicated programs.
It's not being swept under the rug. And for Kate to say that her lawyers are handling it, just gives more suspicion to whether the book is true or not.
If I didn't know who Kate was, my reaction would be "Lawyers? What is she trying to cover up?"

I agree. It's not really that type of show. I got the impression that Katie was actually trying hard to rein in her desire to go at her in the way she might have in a more typical interview situation. I was kind of (pleasantly) surprised she even went where she did with the questions.
She is absolutely dead set against working a job outside of TV. I don't get it. Doesn't she get bored with the tanning, nails, hair, run routine while the kids are gone all day.
I loved being home when my kids were little, but now that my youngest is 11, I love working outside the house 3 days a week. There are parts of my job I don't particularly love, but I love being back in the workplace and having co-workers that I enjoy.
Her life is so pitifully isolated. Not even a girlfriend to go for a run with.
Maybe Steve won't hit that cause he'll be doing it wrong.

If everyone should just concentrate on their own families and kids, then there wouldn't be child abuse laws. The safety and welfare of all children is everyone's business.
As far as Katie Couric as well, she really needs to be given props for at least trying to ask about the book. I think there are many people who wouldn't have touched it. She may want Kate back as the story unfolds, she can't give her such a grating interview that Katie ends up looking like a bully herself. There is a fine line. She kept the dialogue going and did a good job of that. And sometimes things just speak for themselves. I have been divorced for 17 years and had 4 small children 3-7 whom I cared for with some child support but mostly on my nursing salary. When they were very young I worked 11-7 and had a retired woman babysit overnight and paid her a flat rate. It worked out great for both of us since it also supplemented her retirement. She has actually better than having a husband since the kid were always up, dressed,fed and the dishes were done. After dropping them off at school/preschool I went home to bed when slept again for a few hours before work. As they got older I switched to VNA which is home care. That can be done during mother's hours and you do your notes on a computer at night. Kate is completely full of shit with her 12 hour shifts every day crap. The bottom line is she's to lazy. Anyone that knows anything about nursing knows what she says makes no sense
