Please understand, I believe there is nothing wrong with the cleansing emotion of crying.
But, Kate uses tears to enhance her personality. Kate is stuck in that immature place where she thinks that crying makes her seem sweet and sympathetic and sensitive. She thinks that crying makes her relatable and huggable. She believe that standing in a store aisle, weeping would make her appealing. That is why she "reports" it to her fans.
She needs to grow up and be a real, strong, accountable woman.

My take on this: Kate hates dogs, people and is a disturbed, hateful, spiteful person. She cares only for her self proclaimed supreme self, period.

I am a little bewildered that a week ago everyone was in high drama, and today same oh, same oh, with Kate's same get away with everything, which is bewildering at best.

I hate to admit that I watch WWHL fairly often (love Andy:) It is taped live and he takes callers and questions via email and twitter. It would be great to flood him with tough questions about surgery (ask him to show before and after pics), child abuse and grifting when they lived in a million dollar house. He does have A-listers like Meryl Streep and SJP on, as well as little-known reality people.

Here’s why I think this news about her abusing her kids will get some traction. She doesn't have anything else new going on – other than that creepy pic of her daughter’s legs. And our 24-hour news cycle needs a constant supply of new stories to chew, digest and spit out. Yet, she has 2 new TV appearances (one pending), seemingly out of nowhere. And all the gossip rags are picking up the story. The rags aren't asking about her daughter’s legs, they’re focusing on the author being sued, the book getting yanked and the damaging allegations contained within it. And the Couric show, a light, fluffy imitation of Oprah, actually asked about it. Which I’m sure was on the list of approved questions because Kate and her pr team simply don’t have the clout to insist that the issue be off limits.
Her PR people think that by getting out in front of the story with a “changed Kate,” they’ll vaporize what they hope the public will assume to be rumors contained in a sleazy tell-all. However, I really think they've VASTLY underestimated the intense distaste most of the public has for her. Just the online news comments sections tells me that.
This story is gathering momentum. It’s starting slow because the book isn't readily available. But I see it getting traction, if for no other reason than the public’s increasing cynicism about reality shows and a deep-seated desire to see Karma smack bitches in the face.
I used to do PR – corporate pr – but pr nonetheless. This by no means makes me an expert, but I always watch the news from this perspective and that’s how I see this whole thing playing out.
Wonder what's in the 90% Robert allegedly held back...I imagine he would publish the 'worst' stuff. Maybe more of the same?I would love to hear an unbiased interviewer have him on a talk show.
I don't get that dog story- why did Kate feel it was important to write about in her book or even keep record of?

The crying at birthdays is really a (weird) way of turning it back to Kate.
I think most moms are excited about birthdays and parties because it is the day to focus on that particular child, celebrate the fact that they are in the world, part of your life, and celebrate some unique part of them through the party. (like my son loves art, so we had an art party and hung up some of his art for others to see, someone else loves horses so you go riding, or go carting, or bowling.)
I don't think Kate could ever be like this. She's too wrapped up in herself.
Just read on Small Town Gosselins that "Kate Gosselin to be on Bravo! TV "Watch What Happens" Thursday 10/11/12". The picture accompanying the post is hillarious.

Re the dog story,
I think Kate initially journaled about it because it irritated her and was just something that stood out in her day in her mind. Like a "I can't believe that woman, how irritating, and how dare she when I'm trying to get my kids out of the car, and THEN she's all I loved your show! How annoying". At least, that's how the journaling reads to me.
She includes the story in her book (I think maybe even both books) but by then it's turned into an example of how frustrating it was that people would come up to them and she found it really irritating, but came to learn (an epiphany) over time that that is something that comes with "fame" and that without those fans coming up to her there would be no show. And now of course, she loooooves having people come up to her (as long as they have signed a CA and been frisked by Steve, and only stay long enough to gush at her about how fabulous SHE is and get a short 'thanks' at which point they will be ushered away by Steve. And, oh, no pictures please).

Seriously, to the person who asked if there is a recipe. Some time ago, someone posted something about the Amish. There's an Amish tradition of Rumspringa, where the Amish are free to leave their homes and experience the "English" way of life and then decide whether or not to return to their sect and be baptized. Someone turned it into a drink and we've been rumspringing ever since. There really is a Rumspringa Brewery here in Lancaster County. I didn't know about it until another county mom pointed it out.

All summer when one of us was down, we just yelled out "Socks" and would burst out laughing.
Kate does really look terrible and I still have not finished the book - almost bored by reading about her, page after gruesome page.
Excellent observations about the crying. Kate indeed uses it as a tool to turn a milestone that should be about the twins into something all about her, poor Kate her babies getting older she loves them so much wishes she could stop time. Poor thing.

I don't do Twitter, but I've seen people suspended who have popped right back on. If that's possible, then why is it such a big deal to be suspended...how easy is it to get reinstated?

I don't understand all these articles about Kate saying on Katie's show that the show had nothing to do with the divorce. This isn't something new--she said the exact same thing on the finale of Kateplus8. From a review of the final episode(dated 9/13/11):

Sick and Tired - I also watch WWHL and I too love Andy. However I don't think he'd ask questions about abuse or grifting. I think the questions he'd ask are more along the lines of, boob job, cosmetic surgery, is she "doing" the body guard (I'd love to see him hit her with F, marry, kill) and the one question we should all send in is "If you get a dating show will there be spanking?". He may just ask her questions that will make her squirm a bit. She won't be able to spew her normal BS because it's just not that kind of show.

My comments are not meant to be rude, but to be helpful. 1. You can always check Robert's own blog page for the most current update that he has given out.
2. Not sure what you mean by same oh, same oh. People are going to respond however they are going to respond. Yes, when we first read the book, we were highly upset. It would be unnatural to remain in that very agitated state. Most of us remain committed to shining a light as best we can on Kate's misdeeds.
3. As to current status on the book - again, your most up to date info would probably be contained on Robert's own blog page. I do not believe anything has been officially filed with the court (as in a case). It appears that attorneys for both sides are probably going back and forth behind the scenes.

Exactly. It is always all about Kate. I admit that I too can get a little emotional and sentimental when I realize how fast my son is growing into a young adult. But mostly, I'm too busy living in the moment to burst into tears over the past. There will be plenty of time for me to reflect on past happy moments when he is grown and off into his own life.
My dad always used to say the same thing on our birthdays, when the presents were piled on the table and mom was carrying out the cake with candles lit - "Boy, we're sure glad you had a birthday today!" We would be measured to see how much we had grown in the past year. We had no chores that day, and we got to request our favorite meal for dinner. It was always a very special day.
So weird that she is crying because they are turning 12.....13 I get because they are teenagers. Did she cry when they turned 11? Or 9? So random. I think Joy is right. She is crying because each year that they get older she can't talk about her "little" kids and it's a year closer to them spilling the beans about the real life they've had in the McMansion with mommy dearest. That seriously should make her want to cry. It's interesting how Kate's relationship with the kids parallels her relationship with Shoka. She is gaga over them when they are babies....my "littles" and wants to have a litter of her own because she loves babies. She totally disconnects as they get older. When they got the dogs, it was all about Kate and her excitement in getting them. SHE got to pick both of them out...SHE got to name them...they are so cute...yadayada (just like with the koala bear honey) but as Shoka got older and cleaning up poop and dead road kill then it's easy to get rid of him.
I had never commented on any blog in my entire life (yes, I've been reading for years but never posted) 15 min. Is my first and only! The second thing I had never done was comment on articles written about celebrities, until today! I commented on Hollywood Gossip! Yikes! I will never tell my kids! A friend (and fellow mom) sent me a link today about a tremendous story. A woman had sextuplets a year ago. She was confined to bed rest before delivery, and she went into cardiac arrest during the C-section and nearly died.
But amazingly, the other week, just a few weeks shy of the sextuplets' first birthday, she ran a 26-plus-mile marathon. She trained at night after the babies were in bed, sometimes for up to two hours.
Can you even imagine having the strength? Not only physically but mentally.
Jenny Masche, her husband Bryan and their parents were on the "Today" show, well, today, with all six babies.

Apparently, good or bad in her behavior, Kate isn't disappearing from the television screen. Someone is being paid very well to push her out there, aren't they? I just can't see anything "pretty" about Kate. "Pretty is, as pretty does" and in her I just see ugly.

Flight of Kiwi, if Febreze isn't working well, try Natures Miracle. You can get it from Petsmart! Works great, I used it on car upholstery that got cat urine on it when the cat peed in the carrier and it got tilted. Folks, when your cat is mad at you, it WILL find a way to punish you!
It took about two bottles of natures miracle, but the scent of cat urine was completely eradicated from the upholstery and the floor!
If she can't get her dating show maybe she will suggest Bravo consider, "Real Housewives of Wernersville". On second thought no, she'd still have to stay home with the children.

Really? I thought that in PA the legal age for a child to sue is 18, unless that child has been legally emancipated before he reaches that age, or if a guardian ad litem has been appointed to act in behalf of the child.

I am 99% sure it was Al Walentis who started the uproar in Radar about Jon. In reading Polly's blog, she states that she and Al knew him the summer of 2009 as "Bob." The Radar article referred to him as Bob Hoffman. And Al blistered Robert in his blog. For whatever reason, Robert felt he could not partner with Al.
Polly sounds more contrite about the book, but as I would say in Soprano Land, she is dead to me.

About the divorce didn't Kate write that she would never go away! I can't believe that a woman with a nurse' s job and 8 kids would want a divorce. Jon was / is a nice guy, had a job, loved her and the kids, and did all the work! Kate's dumb but not insane! I don't buy that ridiculous story of hers!
She dumped him because, according to her she was moving up, Steve! Also remember that was when she was making all those deals, like Health Tex, and other offers and probably didn't want to share the wealth with him!!!

Birthdays!
I have a birthday song that I sing to my daughter...I heard it many, many years ago on an old Troy Donahue movie that I rented. Each year I call her and sing to her (and I can't sing worth a darn). I do cry when I sing it to her. In fact, sometimes I can't get through the song without my voice breaking because I remember all of the birthdays I've done this, and how she's grown up, shades of "Sunrise, Sunset." She says she recorded me singing it so she has it when I am no longer here (or too old to remember the words)!
Polly also states that Al and Robert worked together, that Al was the writer and Robert took the pictures. According to Gosselin Book's blog and Robert, they never worked together for US Weekly.
Seems someone is trying to backpedal a lot.

Formerly, she could have left out the whole story! Ha! Why admit to your FANS that they irritate you and you really don't like when they come up to you and then admit that you do understand that if it weren't for them you wouldn't have any money!
Her decision making ability when it comes to including these stories to show her in some positive, 'relatable' light really isn't good! Seems like she is surrounded by yes people and has no one that can be like, "yes, people could get that you are concerned for your kids saftey (such a good mom) by including your planning on how to get the babies out of the house in case of a fire, but your plan of putting them all on a blanket and having Jon gather it up and carry them out like a Santa bag also makes you look CRAZY!"
I find the stories interesting because they clearly show how she is actively trying to manipulate how you perceive her and show glimpses of how she actually looks at the world. She could just say, "I have grown to accept that our family gets recognized and that because people see us in their living rooms daily or weekly they feel that they know us and so come up to say hi or whatever and even though its hard for me to handle being so shy I'm grateful for it now because it shows that people like our show" but it wouldn't provide such a fun look at her true character!
Though why her fans don't see the true Kate is a mystery for researchers!!!

I figured that out! It was my stupidity! Actually, it would be more difficult to get emancipated because in that case they would have to be financially independent and be employed. I don't think that working in the past would count! They also have to show they are self-sufficient, mature, and capable of managing their own affairs.
A better route to go would be a court-appointed guardian who could sue now in their behalf. However, it could get very messy legally because of the trust that is already in place (and Kate can access for their benefit).

I just reread all the talk at the Reading Eagle from May, 2005. The Gosselins have been controversial for many years now. Other families of multiples go their merry ways minding their own business, but not Jon and Kate. Greedy grifters, both of them! They have been polarizing for years and yes, over 90% of comments are negative!
I predict that there will not be one red cent left for those 8 kids. Parent(s) will spend it all and cry about it later. Nothing has changed from when the saga started. Everyone is just older. These people are not likeable or relateable. We need to be over them completely. Kate deserves to be "ignored", not interviewed.
Kate is not going to say anything about the dog because that would put an end to all the tweets and conversation about her and him. Any attention she gets is good, apparently, and that includes people talking about how concerned they are for her dog and writing articules about how she beats her children. It's sick.
She's always so excited to be "trending" and doesn't seem to care that 90% of that "trending" is people saying, get off tv and get a job/life!

Oh yes the horn - the cruise scam ship's horn. DH got THAT call...annoyed him so much he stayed on the line (or pressed whatever number) until a human voice came on the line. He picked up his bugle (he has two, one sitting on his desk...don't ask) and blew an extremely loud, horrible, note nowhere known to man, into the receiver. Oddly, we have never received THAT particular scam call again. I think they moved on to our fax machine...
Oh yes Joy, the 1980's era heirloom faux ultra suede brown Lazy-Boy recliner is very much present and ready on the launch pad. BTW, any tips/hints on getting rocket fuel stench out of ultra-suede? Febreze is failing me here.
Since Kate isn't doing the cooking thing lately (no Menu Mondays, no recent stupid twit pics of what appears to be digested dog food) I thought I'd ask some of the chefs here a question - if one is cutting up a jalapeno pepper and the darn thing squirts into one's eye despite glasses (how does that even happen?) other than the stamp dance around the kitchen, how can one reduce the sensation of cigarette burn directly on the retina? Cold water splash seemed to make it worse. Other than never slicing up a jalapeno again, what should one do? (the eggplant-tofu stir fry actually turned out well. Very tasty. Just couldn't see it_.

I think our brains are all wired differently, and that is why we sometimes perceive things so differently..it's why some of us are republicans and others are democrats. It's why many feel OJ was a murderer, and others think he was innocent. Some of us see the color black, and in our mind it looks gray. Also, when you go for an abortion, they ask you, on paperwork, if you are being coerced or pressured into the procedure- this is done while the patient is alone, w/nurses. So, she could have spoken up at that point. My best friend in HS got pregnant at 16, and her mother coerced into an abortion, and they are born-again christians!! The hypocrisy is astounding.
But 17 is a young age, and she lived under her father's roof, and according to Kate, he was very controlling. I can see her being pressured into it, thinking she had no other options. It's scary for a young girl to be pregnant.

It's not child abuse in PA, unless it threatens the life of the child, or the child is left physically damaged. However, and this is very positive...there is a new task force that has been formed to change the child abuse laws. It will be presented to the governor in November and may be voted into law in 2013. It will also change the mandatory reporting that is in effect now (doctors, teacher, etc) to include ANYONE who witnesses abuse must report it or face penalties.
All of this came to be in the wake of the Sandusky scandal.
Can you imagine Kate plus 8 plus her illegitimate child from her wild teen years who's 16 now? Lol we surely never would have known this family.
Yet, Milo admitted that she (or he) has never met Kate, so this crazy obsession is all the more bizarre.

I picked up a cute book at the library last night (pre-embarrassment), started it this afternoon, and am having trouble putting it down. It's a mystery/cozy with an element of the supernatural (ghosts and witchly powers -- only used for good), called "Last Wool and Testament". It's the first in a new series, the Haunted Yarn Shop. It comes as a DTB, Kindle, and, I presume, Nook version.

I have no idea who or what Milo is. I just put some ideas out there because I can't believe that any person with any smarts at all would be this obsessed over a celebrity has-been, especially one who, in her own words, wrote that she's afraid she is going to hurt her children.
Milo loves animals, probably not as much as she loves Kate, but nevertheless, she cares about animals. She must be aware of the abuse of Shoka and Nala, and yet she continues to profess her love for Kate. Why? Is she so deep in delusion that she can't even accept that the writings in the book are Kate's own words?
I wonder if I offer to buy Robert a few rounds of Rumspringa at the local brewery (and throw in as much meat and cheese as he can eat) if he will tell me what he knows, if anything, about the entity known as Milo!
As everyone else has commented, I do not understand how Kate can be the self-serving, abusive b@*!ch she is and get away with it.
My frustration is also that I don't understand how people around her let her continue to get away with her lies. She is not a politician, she is not one of the wealthiest people in the world, she is not a movie star - all people who are given a pass at times. Yet, their bad deeds still catch up with them and their feet are held to the fire because of it.
So how does Kate get away with the majority of rag mags, interviewers, etc., letting her off the hook? Not asking the tough questions, not pursuing the rumors (and what we now know are facts!). Why does she get a pass? Why will no one confront her seriously on these issues? Why will they not follow up with hard questions when she spouts her crap? She doesn't have the pull or draw of the people mentioned above so why does she continously get a pass, even by respected journalists and interviewers? These people aren't as stupid as Kate so why do they let her get away with it and sell their own personal integrity and beliefs in the process?
I just don't understand it and that is so very frustrating to me. What has she got that makes everyone back down from her? I really want to know.

Formerly Duped: Here is possibly one way to explain, diehard Kate fans, on how they think: Here is a forest, it looks great and beautiful from the outside, but if you enter the forest, you may find, it is not so nice and pretty in side, you don't see the trees, which can be dark, ugly, deformed, diseased, etc. That is how I think of why Kate fans stick to her like glue, they only see the forest(the forest can also have a false cover), not the trees that makeup the forest. They see Kate, they see the cover Kate wears, they don't see the inner Kate(they must have blinders on). That is what makes all of us here(not the drive-by)see the trees(Kate), not the Gosselin Brand(the forest). JMO(pay attention drive-bys)

She has the backing of a network that is scared s--tless that they will be held accountable for promoting and profiting off child abuse. If it ever gets proven, look at the fallout of their revenue stream, Toddlers and Tiaras, Honey Boo Boo, etc., as well as other shows.

Heather #157, do you still think that TLC is backing her 100%? I guess they could be, but even before this book came out, for the last year she has still gotten a pass from rag mags, interviewers, etc. It didn't just start the last month. But yes, I could see TLC worrying about being charged with being complacent in child abuse.
However, with the attorneys and pull that they have (how they bullied Jon, the softball interviews when she was still with TLC, etc.), I would think TLC would have some very savvy lawyers stating that these abuses never went on in front of the camera crew. Does Robert's book specifically indicate that it did happen in front of the crew?
Please understand, I am NOT taking TLC's side, not at all; they are garbage. But trying to look at it from a different point of view, Kate was responsible for her own bad behaviors and unless TLC has it on film, I don't think a court would hold them responsible. Of course, I'm sure TLC is swiffering whatever they have just in case.
I don't know, it's all so confusing and frustrating.

Kate enjoyed this force field around her for the last 8 years, nobody can touch her, sue her, use her, etc. But you know Kate has been taking that for granted. And this whole crap, about the red flags about the divorce, is BS on Kates part. No one can predict, that if Jon & Kate never did the show, they would have divorce anyway. There was a 50-50 chance they would still be together today or they would have divorce(if they were not working together to work on the marriage, well yeah, it would have fell apart). Many families who had multi, have ended in divorce, even one, the father took out a big insurance, and killed himself, so mom & kids have money, others worked it out.

I go to a church that also teaches that if you get divorced and re-married, re-married the key word, you are living in adultery and we know the bible says that we shall not commit adultery. So when Jon couldn't fix his marriage and Kate wanted to divorce him, he probably felt he needed to give up his faith because if he got re-married he would be living in sin.
To avoid getting into an argument if this teaching is right or wrong, this is the religious faith Jon chose to believe and tried to live. I thought this way when I couldn't fix my situation, it wasn't divorce and remarriage though, it's all or nothing. When you believe that this is your only choice and you have done all you can think of to fix it, so you think, you give up your belief and go hog wild. Again, hence the partying. Jon learned and is taking responsibility and is trying to fixing it.
Ok, again, when i speak i really have no right, i really only speak here sporadically. Today, I read more of this book. I did have to stop reading again, it is that bad. Really it is that bad. She is so terrible. She is such a very very bad Mother. Who does this, who get's away with this? Surely, someone in the Barbara Walters, Whoopi field will speak up. Surely. Someone, speak for these children. I can tell you, read the book. Robert spells it out for us. All of her doing's are horrific. I just don't konow how this abuse has continued or is still allowed to contine.
All any of us can do is keep on discussing, talking, or passing this on. Someone, anyone, help these children. It's hard folks, very hard. The Mother is a horror, but....she will be overcome by all of us here. The book speaks for itself.
