Will anyone ever be held accountable for the child abuse and child labor violations perpetrated against the Gosselin children for years? According to Robert Hoffman, he reported the child abuse allegations to CYS twice. Is this the best they could do?

Another question....I had read what Canuck had written up there regarding someone of questionable sanity/motives tweeting to Kate on twitter. How would one go and be able to read that? Would one have to be a member of twitter? The only thing I know how to do is to google Kate's twitter name but can only see what SHE tweets. I glanced over some of last night's back and forth with poster 'Why?'.
Let's not forget this same person will call the CHILDREN liars when they say in a few years that yes, their mother beat and terrorized them, restricted their food, called them names, told them daily how much she hated them, etc. These folks will still believe there is never any proof of what the kids are saying, Jon has the kids brainwashed, Jon did this Jon did that and the children are all just liars looking for media attention and money by not being grateful enough for their swimming pool and the fancy living room they were never allowed in.
Mark my words, it WILL happen. NOTHING EVER will be proof enough for these people. Never.
I think that Shoka no longer resides at the McMansion. It is my hope that Shoka was either returned (once and for all) to the breeder, or that Jon has Shoka and is taking good care of that poor dog. I don't know Jon's living situation - but believe he is a renter. If he is renting, the landlord may not allow dogs.
We all know the worst case scenario would be that Shoka died while in the "care" of Krieder. I fervently hope that isn't the case.

I always laugh that there is often a Charmin ad at the top of 15 Min here- not QN- although the Halloween epi where Kate revived Shoka, she had the kids wrap up like mummies in another brand ( waste- two minute activity) and another she had the kids 'disperse' Charmin or Cottonelle...my mother told me the scented TP cause irritation,like scented tampons hmm?
My opinion and it's just that...is that Shoka got ill from eating the roadkill and passed away. Or that incident led to his removal.

My son's b-day is coming up and we are simply having a cake with pop pop and grandma, and taking him out to a place he loves to go. I would like to have just a few of his friends over at my house for silly games, but it also seems the "invite the whole class" thing/plus the parents is in play, and we can't afford that, let alone get that many people in our small house. Heather - here is what I did for my son as he grew up. 1st birthday - relatively big deal with lots of family and friends (mine) coming to celebrate. Ages 2, 3 and 4 - smaller, just-family parties. Milestones had bigger celebrations: At age 5, he had the big party at a local version of Chucky Cheese, complete with an invite to his entire preschool class.
Age 10 - another big party, this time it was Scandia for a round of golf and then video games. Limited to 7 friends.
Age 14 - I did allow him to invite 3 friends and spend the afternoon at Scandia again, but it was a flat rate day. I think it was $25/kid, and they could do unlimited batting cages, water rides, go karts and a round of golf.
He understands that not every birthday can be a big hoopla, but that I will make special efforts for certain milestones. He doesn't seem scarred for life to me (ha!).
Believe me, I do understand the "keeping up with the Jones" stuff that goes on during the school years. Since I couldn't afford to play "keep up", I just made sure that my son's birthday was a special day - sometimes starting with breakfast in bed, occasionally with a day off from school, always with whatever he wanted for dinner, and a trip to the "height wall" which is next to my fridge. If we ever move, I'm going to have to figure out how to duplicate that little strip of wall that has marks for each year and how tall he was at certain times.

A few random thoughts about the enabling sheeple.
There comes a time when your silence becomes betrayal and that line was crossed a very long time ago.
Do you have any inkling of the living hell abused children go through? Whether it's physical or verbal abuse no child reaches adulthood unscathed.
After all these years, watching Kate, and having access to the show on YouTube, Netflix etcetera; did it never occur to you that her roughness with the children was very wrong? There wasn't some niggling doubt at the back of your mind?
To have video and audio evidence of pinching, spanking, denial of water,ignoring safety issues inside and outside of the house; isn't that a blip on your radar? Doesn't it trigger a bit of skepticism on your part? What you can see with your very own eyes are signs pointing to the possibility of even more awful abuse by Kate Gosselin.
I really don't need an answer from any of you enablers, they are rhetorical questions. I have my considered, rational, opinion of what has and is going on with the children and I'm grateful that I can express it on this blog. So, keep coming here to poison the well, it won't work simply because we can so easily see your agenda.

Lot's of concern in blogworld and twitter world about the dog, many of us wondering if that horrible womnan got rid of him, one way or another, after that last time he upchucked another dead animal. Even her bestie tweetie Milo cant get her fess up, so we all assume he is gone in some kind of way.
But Katie LOVES LOVES LOVES secrets! Makes her feel so special and powerful! That is part of the reason she lies all the time, that way only SHE knows the truth and that makes her feel important! So she will drag this out about the dog, especially with her 'fans', for the attention, or until he is adopted out and the paper trail is cold, or until she moves the body.
I for one feel very bad for the dog, but there is nothing I can do about it, so I am just waiting patiently until the truth comes out in the months and years to come. After she is in jail, someone will find him, one way or another.

You know, after having read several articles over the past few years on yahoo.....ones that dealt with physical punishment of children....and being appalled at the number of comments that support it (ie: I got beat and I turned out okay, spare the rod, spoil the child, etc.)........I began to notice that the huge majority of people who comment after articles about Kate (over the past year or so).....that are negative about her (the commenters)...seem more to do with "her 15 minutes are over", "she's a famewh*re".....etc. rather than to do with the physical abuse of the children/animals.
A large majority of the commenters who have now decided they don't like her seem to mainly exhibit the typical reaction of those you see who have gotten tired of Kim Kardashian and other reality TV stars. They become irritated with and tired of them and feel their time is up and they need to go back to real life. Their interest in TV reality stars doesn't last long and they're on to the next new reality star.
The ones who reply negatively because of child/animal abuse issues are in the significant minority. The majority don't seen all that interested in or fazed by those particular issues. Pretty sad, really.

I havent seen any in years! I used to be able to get some print at Walmart, made a special point of it too, but then they stopped carrying it.

those were great parties! I always had kids over to the house, you could invite as many kids as were old, once you started school.
Unfortunatly I hear some schools have a policy now that unless the entire class is being invited, they wont allow invitations to be passed out in school and they discourage any talk of private parties, while on school grounds. I guess I can kind of see that.
I foolishly had a Halloween party one year and ended up with 45 costumed elemenatry kids in my tiny tiny house! But boy did they have fun!

I practice my yoga asanas at home, and at our library when a class is available.
I'm actually glad that she is practicing yoga at home. All the Pennsylvanian yoga studios are probably grateful for that ;o)

I think that his best course of action is to say "no comment"--that would be the win-win action. He made that statement back in June 2012 ( months after contract with TLC expired). In that interview, he also said that he didn't rule out his kids' return to show biz. And therein lies the problem. You choose not to believe RH's book, others feel differently. You need to accept the difference in opinion.
My only other comment on this is I find it VERY hard to believe anyone would go up against Kate without hard proof, as they expose themselves to what RH is now experiencing.

In his book RH included scans of her, supposed, journals and also scans of TLC and other contracts. There were eye-opening photos in the book including shots of the Asian couple who were hired to provide the thousands of Easter Eggs that Kate claimed she did by herself. The photos begin with them unloading sacks of eggs. The snaps continue with the people hiding the eggs and end with Shoka eating them from a discarded sack. This happened last Easter, Kate made a huge deal about stuffing and placing those eggs, going so far as to post a Twitter photo of the eggs packed away in the tote. According to RH she never came out of the house, the hunt started in late afternoon and the children were out a very short time. The Easter egg man was also hired to take the pictures that Kate sold to an online tabloid.
You should ask yourself why Kate Gosselin hasn't defended herself like she usually does. There are many things in and out of the book that she's afraid will become general knowledge. If it's lies why doesn't she simply state that fact or go on the talk shows to "set the record straight" like she has every time before?
I know I won't get through to you but maybe you should buy the book when it's re-released. If you can still believe her after that...

I feel for all involved to a point. My problem is Kate has dismissed qualified volunteers that dealt with the children. My mother in law was a volunteer and had 7 kids and has 8 grand kids and volunteered to help with a bunch of other people only to be fired. Kate and her family refused 2 mini-vans that where given until they said yes to the 3rd. What they should do know is get a PR firm to help them with the public and media because they seem like very un-greatful citizens of life, a life that should be blessed but is know being tarnished by an apparent selfishness that is un becoming to such a blessed family. It makes me feel bad all around.

Nurse, I agree with you, I am very proud of Jon and totally believe that what he is doing is in the best interest of the children.
In my comment I was just trying to separate what has been done, which no one can change, to what needs to be done now. I am so sick of any arguments of who DID what, past tense, and who was the worst for doing it. Yes, getting them help and keeping it private is the best win win now.
The comment of them being damaged for life is that they will be battling for life the bad choices that have been made. The only hope now is that they receive the tools to use in the battle but that doesn't mean all things will be just fine because they have those tools.
For example, I had made a comment on the other thread that reading Roberts book has brought up in me things I thought I have overcome. I worked through it in the past with the tools I learned when I got help. After many, many years I thought it was now second nature, but I find myself digging through the tool box for the tools I thought I could put away. Metaphorically speaking, I thought I had my house reinforced enough for any storm that blew my way. The book was that storm. I am not outwardly affected by it but inside I started to worry that my house might not weather the storm. Therefore, I have realized that I'm damaged for life, scars if you will, and need to keep the tools near by instead of in the shed. Again metaphorically.

For me, the fact that Kate has not spoken one word about this book speaks VOLUMES to me. No vehement denials on twitter? No settin' the record straight tour 43.2? Two of Kate's children were expelled from Kindergarten. She immediately went into a PR frenzy, completely denying it while admitting they were no longer in their school. Oh, and it was all Jon's fault. THAT'S the Katie we all know and love! Sooo.... her silence on this is deafening
Robert has been tangling with Kate's fancy lawyers since May. At that time, they requested a copy of the book to review. After that, we don't know what happened for the next four months except that the book actually made it to Amazon. Albeit, for only one day until TLC/Discovery shut it down because of their "trade secrets" being exposed. It seems to me that TLC is saying "hey, those are transcripts of our actual contracts! They're not supposed to be public! Shut that down!"
If Robert wrote a work of fiction I don't think he would have been able to get it to pass muster through Kate's attorneys. If Robert fabricated TLC/Discovery contracts, I don't think TLC/Disc would give a crap.
Noone, including Kate, seemed to care about Al's book or Polly's book. This seems to have grabbed quite a bit of attention. To me, that tells me that Robert's material is something to be reckoned with, and Kate needs to stay quiet about it to protect herself from a libel or slander suit.

There was one episode where they were all in the basement and Alexis was pulling trying to pull the other kids off the twin bed that was down there. And Kate said "She thinks that is her bed... Well... It IS her bed." It was all so odd, first she was chastizing the child to NOT claim ownership of the bed as her own, then in the same breath she was saying "Well, it IS her bed."
If Kate was confused about it, can you imagine how the toddler felt? To not even have a bed to call your own?

Conspiracy theories make my head hurt. Who would the anyone be who could have written it all? Then Jon put it on the computer as vengeance against Kate? Why? If he wanted to expose her for any reason, he could have gone to the tabloids and they would have paid him for a blockbuster story. He didn't. He's said absolutely nothing about the book. She's the one who has been bashing him since the divorce, it's not the other way around. Clearly he's moved on. Why, three years after the divorce, would he be so aggrieved that he'd conspire with someone to strike out against her?
The things you are demanding for proof couldn't be faked? No matter what proof is offered up, there will be those who say that it was altered, pictures were photoshopped, police docs were rewritten, etc. CPS reports are sealed, and any injury reports that may have required a trip to the doctor or ER fall under HIPAA so those would be impossible to obtain.
What exactly is it that you want? Bloggers here can't offer the kind of proof that you want to see. If this is such a concern, do your own investigation, dig into it with resources you can find on your own. Bob Woodward wanted proof, and he didn't stop until he had it. Go for it.

I bought my copy on the 2nd day of availabitly for my plain Kindle. I dont have any scans of anything, no photos etc. Perhaps those with a higher end Kindle Fire, that supports graphics and pics better than my low end device does, can see those things? In this epi she was still on the basement couch. They must have moved the bed down later. I thought if she's going to sleep on the couch at least let her sleep on the first floor. Why, I will go as far as to say that your point on proof is valid. I don't know if you read my post that I backed up my feelings on what Kate said on episodes, interviews, and saw how she treated Jon. Anyone who can be so free about verbally abusing an adult in front of cameras, and show her frustrations with her children if front of cameras is more than likely doing a greater percent of it behind the cameras. Just what she said to the children in Alaska, manipulating them through fear of her leaving and that they will no longer be a Gosselin was VERY TELLING to me. If it crosses your mind to say I don't know what they felt, bull, my mom said stuff like that all the time to me and my five sibs. And more telling, it worked. One time when my mom was upset and she started to leave I ran after her crying and as she was pulling the car out of the driveway, I seriously thought and almost put my foot under the tire so she would have to stop. I was terrified that she was going to try to kill herself. AND I WAS RIGHT!!!! Do you know what guilt I would of had to live with if she succeeded.
Did you watch when she jumped off the tower in NZ? Did you see the panic in the children's faces when she curled up in a ball, crying hysterically. And the one with Cara balling her eyes out, begging mom not to go. I wonder which kid feels guilty for encouraging Kate and her not enjoying the jump. It works that way you know. That's how kid process it in their mind.
So forget using the stuff in Roberts book. There is proof enough in interviews and episodes. Having said that, why not use your energy to figure out a way to help Kate get help for the things she showed us HERSELF.

Lol Dwindle! I did a check on what happened to colored toilet paper and it looks like it was wiped (hahahahahaha) off the market in 2004. Even though it was dyed with only vegetable dye, people were having irritation and allergic reactions to it. So we're stuck with white!

I saw your request about colored toilet paper. Scott used to carry it-I think they were last company to do so. But I think sometime last year they discontinued it. Several of the reasons I heard were that the dye was found to be harmful to the environment and that some people had adverse reactions to it.

I have Robert's book on my Kindle Fire HD. There are NO pictures or graphics. Just words.
IMO saying "no comment" to is Kate a great mother is mean. But saying "she's a mother" says well she does the best she can. Much more neutral answer that isn't likely to set off a seriously mental ill person you will have to work with until the kids are 18 and beyond. In any case not giving any interviews or comments is usually the safest bet and appears to be what he's doing now.

Robert himself said he has a wife and 3 children to support and consider. The book was delayed from it's initial release date of June to late September. He did this to protect himself while Kate's lawyers did.. whatever with it.
He is well aware that Kate has a couple moldy millions in her many bank accounts and she would not hesitate to use them to SUE his ASS. HARD. Why would he fraudulently embellish her journals to make them more incriminating, scandalous etc. while in the process of doing that, he would be painting a huge red bullseye on himself? To be perfectly honest, (lol) that would be the equivalent of committing suicide with words. He said that he needed to think of his family and not risk being wiped out financially. Therefore, the book was not released until he was legally safe to do so- regarding the content of Kate's journals and how they were obtained. The TLC/Discovery issue is another seperate piece and it looks like he is removing the TLC content and re-releasing.

For example, I had made a comment on the other thread that reading Roberts book has brought up in me things I thought I have overcome. I worked through it in the past with the tools I learned when I got help. After many, many years I thought it was now second nature, but I find myself digging through the tool box for the tools I thought I could put away. Metaphorically speaking, I thought I had my house reinforced enough for any storm that blew my way. The book was that storm. I am not outwardly affected by it but inside I started to worry that my house might not weather the storm. Jon probably backed up her computer unto CD's because if her computer crashed he could download the info back in after being repaired. You only have so much room on a computer and those journals probably took up a lot of room.

And you're right, Fido, Oprah did have a clear preference for very dark books, didn't she? But, then again, it's also through her book club that I discovered Maeve Binchy, my "reward" books when I've been a good girl and didn't procrastinate on a less than captivating writing contract.
I think the caricatures up top are sadly still exactly on point. They were generously done for us by a talented PA artist named Emily who has drawn for the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Phillies, I think I would be overstepping my bounds to ask her to draw a new one since she doesn't usually draw things for free and made an exception for us because she really enjoys this blog.
