The original TLC contracts provided for payment only to Kate and Jon, not to the children. After more than three years of filming, TLC finally established a trust fund for the children, in November 2009. The Gosselin children first appeared on screen in May 2006.
A child on reality T.V. deserves to have his or her money protected from their parents and others who may seek, either intentionally or unintentionally, to misappropriate it.

Those are just some of the reforms that Rep. Tom Murt has been working for more than two years to get Pennsylvania to understand that they need. Yesterday, Governor Tom Corbett signed House Bill 1548, which affords reality T.V. kids and regular child actors the same protections. Among the reforms, it requires trust funds be set up, a parent or guardian must be allowed within sight and sound of the children at all times (the Gosselins were filmed more than once without Kate or Jon on set), and, perhaps most importantly, requires a studio teacher on set (a licensed teacher), even on reality T.V. shows, to facilitate plenty of time for mandated schoolwork and rest. Finally, an independent set of eyes on our children who are working.
A brief explanation of the hours a kid can work, which were modeled after California's strict laws and have been a little misunderstood in the press: Babies under 6 months can be on set a maximum of 2 hours. Ages 6 months to 2 years old can be on set for four hours, but can only work on camera for two. Ages 2 to 6 can be on set 6 but work just three hours. Kids ages 6 to 9 can work 4 hours a day but are allowed to be on set for 8. Kids age 9 to 16 can be on set for 9 hours, but can only work 5. The rest of the time must be devoted to rest and schoolwork. There is a mandatory rest period of at least 12 hours between consecutive shooting days. So if the family stays up late to film a segment about fireworks until 11 p.m., the children are not permitted to start work again the next day until 11 a.m.

While it is true that lie detector tests aren't used in court, they ARE used by law enforcement to CLEAR suspects. In any case, neither Discovery, TLC or KK has said that one word in Robert's book is a lie.

The only thing that really surprised me about reading all of Kate's emails and diaries is she actually is a bit more aware of herself and how she is than I thought she was.
It surprised me that she would say things like she hates when she's like this, how can Jon love her, I need to put the kids in their cribs where they will be safe from me, etc. Although I have heard narcissists often have low self esteem. She just hasn't struck me as all that self aware. That being the case, I believe her to be a very tortured, disturbed woman. Being inside her head might be very difficult for her daily.

I don't think you can pick up any tv stations anymore w/o cable or a digital converter box. They came out about 3 yrs ago, when antenna TV went away. We dig it out when cable goes out to at least pick up the local stations. I had a little Casio TV I used to use at work, when bored. LOL During last years snow storm cable went in and out, so it was handy. We had generator power, so that wasn't a problem.
Re Ms Kreider and her sciatica. Few years back I developed bad right lower back/ hip pain after being particularly faithful at the YMCA yoga classes. I had irritated my piriformis muscle it turned out. Out is a muscle in the buttocks UNDER the gluteus Maximus. I still do yoga, but I had to modify my form and avoid some exercises. Took about 2 months to clear up!
So.. If Ms Kreider is really doing yoga, and if she really has lower back and leg poison, are the two related?

I'm with the camp that Shoka isn't really there. When Kate called out hi Shoka, what a cold tone to her voice. Not one kid chimed in hi Shoka, come here buddy, we missed you. Want a treat. Nothing. Kids don't ignore their beloved dog like that if he came up to their vehicle. Kids just love their dogs and there was dead silence from them. That household is devoid of love and emotion. And don't most people have "pet" names for their pets, not just Shoka, but something more loving. My daugher's dog is Violet, we call her lots of pet names, like Villy, or my Villy etc. and you usually get some type of response, like a happy bark from a dog, even w/ the windows closed. Just more of her mounting lies.
Also, I think that if a person believes they are right they don't make things up for themselves. They truly believe them. So if Kate thinks what she has done is right she wouldn't have to lie.

The Casio battery television with the antenna worked last week. I could get the local news channel, which is all I really need. Tonight, nothing. Darn.
I went and stocked up on wine, Rumspringa, Bloody Mary mix and water, batteries, food and a new car charger for the phone. We're ready! :-)
And her hair, too. I get a kick out of the program and never miss an episode, campy as it may be.

Rotgut wine made me think of the Hiney Wine spoof commercials on radio in the mid to late eighties. Does anyone remember these? There had a great cast of characters including winery owner Red Heiny also known as "Big" Red Hiney, his wife Ophelia Hiney, Thor Hiney,and Whitey Heiny. I remember one phrase, "Just open your Hiney and let it breathe.", LOL. I did not say but, but, but. I am not saying if Kate (or anyone) believes something they say THEN it's not a lie. I said when someone truly believes what they are saying they do not think they are lying. Big difference.
You seem to believe that the Hoffman book is gospel. I haven't made up my mind about his book. The truth is that all of us choose to believe what Hoffman wrote or not. Either way, none of us know for sure if it's the truth or not. And that means it is still speculation.
It hasn't been long but I am going to wait for a while longer to see what, if any, court cases come of this.
I am not going to believe Hoffman about the lie detector test for a few reasons; they are not depnedable and cannot be used in court and what questions did he answer and who has the results.

Oh, but they can be used in court, providing BOTH the prosecution and defense agree. This agreement must be made prior to the test being administered, and only then may it be used as evidence. Neither side can change its mind once they are presented with the results. The sitting judge must also agree to presenting the results of the test as evidence.

For those who did't read it, I was commenting on the Long Islsand Medium woman's long square white/French manicured nails and her hair. I love that program! No small children harmed by its filming.

It depends on the state and on the district. It's really all over the map. There are experts who say they are accurate, there are experts who say they are not. It's really not correct to say I don't believe a polygraph because courts say they are not admissible because that's just not what all courts or experts say.
And even though they are generally NOT admissible in my court (though there are a few judges who will let them in if no one objects) you can TALK about the fact that someone took one. For instance, if a lawyer has a client who has voluntarily subjected themselves to a polygraph, they can bring this fact up. Makes them seem more likely to be innocent if they subjected themselves to that.
I really don't get the lie detector issue anyway. There are a dozen other reasons why I believe those emails and journals are credible and we can start with Kate not running to court that very morning to file a libel lawsuit. I would think calling someone a child abuser when they are not would be a pretty open and shut case right there and then.
Re the french manicure, my daughter gets it and it looks very nice on her. Out of style or not, I like the look. I think Kate's are alittle oversized, but my daughter's looks very nice on her. They're the right size and she keeps them on the shorter side.
Why would anyone who is not seeking to profit from a book make the whole thing up, spend years gathering information, compose pages and pages of Kate's words trying to duplicate her style of writing, have to hire someone very knowledgeable in legalese to draft contracts, if he knew when the opposition's attorneys got hold of it and proved it to be a lie they would sue the pants off him and wipe him and his family out financially? Only someone glutton for punishment would do that. He knew that he'd have to tangle with high-profile law firms, and yet he went ahead and spent a considerable amount of time getting caught up in the legality of this.
Why would someone go to this extreme...just to get back at Kate for something? If the book is a lie, he'd get found out. Her myriad of attorneys certainly would pick it apart, page by page, have researchers, computer experts and forensic linguistics on the case to prove that this was not Kate's writing style, and that the e-mails were not legit.

I for one do not believe Kate is oblivious to what she is doing. On the contrary I think she is very conniving and actually, pretty darn bad at playing "innocent" like she always does, like when she grifts. Oh did I mention my Mac is failing this morning?? Oh, you wanna give me a free one? Little ole me? This woman is calculated and menacing and knows what she is doing. She is a tortured, mentally ill woman who wrote about her struggles and frustrations with her children in her diary and some of her choices were very poor and abusive. I know no one wants to believe anyone could be that evil, but when it comes to child abuse, I lean toward the side of believe it is true. It's very simple, Kate can sue for libel if it's not true and clear all this up right now. Every day she does not do this solidifies all those evil, vile words all the more. What kind of mother who never touched her kids would let such a lie about them go on like this? NO ONE.

Formerly -- OMG! "The Cheerleader" was one of my favorite books when I was in high school. I read it several times. I had no idea there were sequels to it. Unfortunately, none of them seem to be available as e-books and my library doesn't have any of them, so I'll have to try to track down used ones online. In the meantime, I'll re-read "The Cheerleader". It was the only book by Macdougall that our library has.
Calling someone an "idiot" is not simply "voicing your opinion." Calling someone obsessed and being cruel and mean spirited towards a poster here is NOT okay. You are allowed to have opinions about the issues were discuss here. You are NOT allowed to voice opinions about what poster you think is an idiot, obsessed or otherwise.

I always do french, but colored tips w/ some type of design. They put gel on the top and I can go 3 weeks or more b4 a fill. My 21 yr old daughter get similar. As long as tips are squareish and not pointy you don't look like a crazy old lady w/ red pointy nails with red lips to match LOL.

I don't think it's been too long for a court case against Hoffman to be brought forward. I think Kate G's lawyers are going over everything with Kate to find out if these are her writings and if they have been doctored in any way.
For me the lie detector thing is a big deal. I want to know who he took one for, what questions were asked. Then I would give that the weight it deserves.
Blowing in the Wind the sheeple would have us believe Robert is some kind of kamikaze ready to put himself, his three kids, his wife and everything he has worked so hard for all on the chopping block to be slaughtered, wiped out, devastated. Huh? All to make up a bunch of lies about some D-list has been reality star because, he's just, evil I guess?
It simply doesn't happen in real life. Maybe in the movies they watch. But in real life, people take care of their kids and their families and don't do suicidal things unless they really are suicidal. My next issue is that since this book came out and has been talked about, even in on line articles, Kate has never ONCE said that this was not true. Normally, she makes comments on TV, in magazines, or on twitter about what she considers to be false information. She has NOT done this about any of the information in Robert Hoffman's book. To me, that speaks volumes.

I didn't ask anyone here to do my research for me. I don't believe anyone here can answer that question. I said I wanted to know more about the lie detector test before I'd believe it BECAUSE posters here were using that to try to make me believe what Hoffman said was the truth.

Let's think, when was the last time Kate refused to address something? Oh right it was when it came out Jon has 50-50 custody. She went along like nothing happened for ages. Finally when her sheeple were so deafening she couldnt' take it anymore, she finally told them yes yes fine it's the same as it's always been now MOVE ON AND SHUT UP NOT ANOTHER WORD.
LOL. And even that was proven an absolute lie. It certainly is not the same as it's always been. People have been on twitter and one even emailed me privately tweeting and taking pics of various kids with Jon during the week, certainly not during his regular weekend time. A flat out lie proven. And she goes on like everything is the same even in the face of photographic evidence.
This woman has a pattern when something is true, and that's silence. Like it doesn't even exist. Not only does this custody arrangement not exist, but heck, even Jon himself doesn't exist!
On another note, a book you simply make up shouldn't take years. It should have taken all of a couple weeks to write a fake book. Why not just throw it together and publish it right when they were on every tabloid? Would have made a lot more money and gotten a lot more interest. We know for a fact he's been around, he's even in the video of Jon dropping the kids off. Why didn't he just do something like this then?
What takes so long is going through piles and piles of information you found. Now that could take years. A fake book doesn't take years.
If they just think logically they would see nothing adds up otherwise.

They may be a dying art. But Civil War reenacting is a popular hobby where I grew up back East. You can do a google search to see if you have a local group of reenactors and they can tell you when any battles are going to be.
This reenactment is going all weekend and will feature actors from Gods and Generals. They're doing several battles, a Lincoln reenactor to read some famous speeches, I'm beyond excited. Anyone in So. Cal should consider checking it out.

And yet, I will say what I said previously. Kate has never publicly denied what was written in Robert's book. She has publicly acknowledged it, has said that her lawyers are checking it out, but has never said at any time that anything in the book was not true.
Normally, in Kate fashion, she jumps on any issue to say it is false, whether she uses magazines, TV, or twitter to debunk the accusations. This time, she has not denied these accusations in any way, shape, or form. She has only commented that her lawyers are reviewing everything.
From how Kate has acted for the last several years, and how she is acting now, I believe that Robert's book is true. Kate has proven that by not DENYING any part of it since it has hit the news. Instead, she says her lawyers are looking into it. Well, I guess it's pretty hard to deny your own journal writings.

At the urging of a producer friend, I was considering writing it as a spec script. This idea has been going on for months. However, after I tried to give this a go, I really wasn't happy with it. As much as it would be exciting to try to pitch the idea as a movie, maybe buried on LIfetime Movie Network or some other cable network it would work on, my heart is really in the novel version of the story. And since the odds are so slim I could ever get it picked up as a movie, I like the control a novel gives me to be able to self publish it myself on Kindle and not have to agonize so much over it getting picked up. Maybe after the novel is done though I'll consider giving it another go.
So it's back to the novel, which has been on hold all summer while I considered going the film route. I'm hoping to have her published sometime this winter, but like justice, the wheels turn slowly, especially when a novel is nearly done. I've found this to take the longest, getting it from "almost done" to PUBLISHED. Wish me luck.

It does not take as long as the movies tell you to put together a simple lawsuit about these allegations.
Either you abused your kids or you didn't. Either you wrote those journals and you didn't. If you didn't and it's all lies, any law clerk could throw together a motion from the brief bank in a day and a half and file it in court. This is not some rinky dink lawfirm, they do this thing all the time.
If someone were saying this about me and it weren't true I would tell the you get that filed in three days or I'm getting a new lawyer.
Contrary to popular belief, lawyers can type things out and file them away within hours. In fact, there are certain fast track appeals for "emergencies" that can go through the system in a matter of 24-48 hours. It happens all the time. A simple, easy example to understand is death penalty cases. You don't take your sweet ass time combing things over while someone is about to be executed that night. You file that motion and you file it now or that person is dying.
Anyway the point being if Kate really wanted to shut this down she could have insisted they file by now, and they easily could have. It's been too long now. I'll be doing some hat eating if they ever file a darn thing on this. That ship has sailed.

What does it matter if they are splitting up the kids, it's probably better for them anyway to get some individual attention. It really kills the sheeple that Jon will not play the part of the deadbeat Dad and in fact is becoming more and more the consistent parent and Kate, ironically, the deadbeat Mom. They got a little taste of it on his Freedom Tour 2009 but he was soon done with that and went back to being his usual self. They've spent the past three years longing for that time and just wishing he would play that part. It fits so much better with their agenda. So much better.

You know, I haven't but it's funny you ask. I had seen it but I don't like O'Reilly's politics so I skipped on by it (although I have new respect for his sense of humor since his "debate" with Jon Stewart). But I saw a few reviews recently about it and thought I might read it. I don't know, I saw the title and author and figured it was some political commentary, not an historical read. I read all about Mary Cassatt and I read the biography about the Lincoln marriage. I feel so sorry for Mary Todd Lincoln and I feel for Abraham Licoln for his struggles with depression. So anyway, I think I just might read O'Reilly's book after all.

My question is, why wouldn't a sheep want the children to spend as much time with BOTH their mother and father as possible? Do they read? Do they understand that this is what's best for children? To have both parents active and involved in their lives? If possible?
I mean, I've never said the kids should be with Jon full time. I think they should be with both parents as long as no one continues to abuse them. I'm somehow able to accept that as much as Kate is a vile person, they love her and need their mother as much as they love and need Jon. I have a question about THE BOOK. I think I remember Robert saying somewhere he did not include photos because he didn't have the rights to them, is that correct? But weren't there many photos taken by him that he does have the rights to? Just wondering.
I'll be very glad to see the book re-issued (preferably on paper) after being edited. I do have to say that the spelling and punctuation and lack of grammar in some parts (Robert's, not the quotes from Kate) sort of make the book less credible. I mean, if I hadn't been here for so long and followed the whole story here and elsewhere, if I had just seen the book not knowing anything but picked it up because it looked interesting, I would definitely have wondered if this guy was a real journalist or writer or whatever. Robert, if you're reading here, you have presented a VERY VALUABLE story - please just try to get it cleaned up before you let it circulate to more people. OK, it'll be interesting to see if I'm yelled at or ignored for this opinion.

Florida mom, even if Sandy doesn't live up to the hype and dire predictions for our area, the fact is...41 people have been killed by this storm so far. I seriously doubt that any of their families and friends would have appreciated some stranger telling them things like "relax" and "I promise you won't die" prior to them experiencing this tragedy.
It really takes such little effort to be empathetic to other people's worries. I don't understand why some people don't get that.
I have asked about Shoka and didn't get a response.
At this point I think we need to move on unless we hear something else.

Wow, I found this comment to be a bit insensitive to Lancaster Country Mom and her concern about the forecasted "monster storm" or "historic storm" as the Weather Channel is calling it.
If she needs to discuss it here and it helps her, she is more than welcome to do so, and I think Admin would agree. And that goes for any East Coasters here on the blog, you will all be in our thoughts and prayers. I have a brother and a close friend in Virginia and while they don't live right near the coast, they could still be affected by this large storm.

Greedy Gosselins, actually it's really not a violent book at all and doesn't feature a single battle scene. It's actually about a woman fighting for custody of her two sons from her husband who met another woman while serving as a medic back East. It's a "home front" book. The war was merely a catalyst for her husband to abandon her then turn around and try to take her kids.
That said I don't expect anyone to follow my journey or be interested in the book unless they want to be. This book has been in the making for years and has nothing to do with the blog except for the fact that there are a few history nerds here like myself I thought might be interested.

If you have a BBQ grill big or small load up on charcoal. If your power goes out at least you can cook a hot meal. If you have a gas grill, buy some extra tanks and I would buy a grill for charcoal also. I am so thankful we had a grill and charcoal when the snow storm of 93 hit. 20 degrees below windchill, Thank God we had propane heat that the propane man had come and brought at lunch that day! The power went out that night and we just had to go to bed. No batteries maybe one candle. Unprepared. The next morning my husband, ex now, went outside and we had scrambled eggs and bacon and toast! Then not wasting the warm charcoal, he put hot dogs on the grill and closed the lid and by lunch we had hotdogs. We got our big cooler and put it in the snow and put snow in the cooler and put the milk jugs and cokes in the snow. We suffered till Monday when the snow was melting and we drove to town and hit the Burger King it was jammed packed.
I just wished I was more prepared. Worried about the G8. Hopefully JON will have them, during the storm, because he has the ability to get prepared, kate can not. Can't imagine anything scarier than with kate and a hurricane and her freaking out and beating the kids with the wooden spoon.

Please, my friend...... please call any domestic relations office in any county in Pennsylvania. Ask if a mother can voluntarily relieve the father of her child/ren from paying an exisiting child support order. Kate and her lawyer sadly underestimated the knowledge of the general public re: custody law when they let that self serving nugget of info out. Pennsylvania just passed a law to PROTECT the Gosselin children from their mother, Kate certainly DOES NOT get a pass on the very strict laws concerning support judgements.

It's the same thing every time, insisting that there's no proof those are Kate's words, don't believe what you want to hear, "I'm not buying Robert's "facts," "I think he stole the hard drive" Lie detector tests mean nothing, etc. etc. etc. YET-- she is full of unsubstantiated facts she prefers to believe, and she demands we accept those as fact without any proof at all.

I love the fact she has 4 freezers. Yes all us mediocre people can relate to it. Oh whoa is me my zillions of dollars worth of organic meat and homemade bread and what not will be ruined. How can you live in a huge house like that and not have a generator? They are not that expensive. You can have one that kicks on when your circuit box goes out. With 8 count em 8 kids and 4 freezers of food you can't spend a couple of thousand to protect them in an emergency.

I think I remember her feeding them bananas once. She did find a way to peel the banana and direct it into that orifice that is a mouth, remarkably.
I sure hope somebody, anybody, tells Kate not to put that generator in the basement or the attached garage. If she knows nothing about them she might not know that.
KATE: A portable generator (even if it's big and looks immovable) does not belong where the fumes can get into the house! A detached garage or shed is the place to put it!
And this fall I might recommend that you spend a few thousand bucks - about $12,000, far less than the cost of your Audi TT - and get one that is installed outside your house. They come on automatically when the power goes out and you can still see, do computer work, and keep those precious freezers full of bread, old halloween candy and grifted half of an organic cow all fresh and lovely.

Like I've said many times before, Kate does everything fast. Not neatly, not carefully, just fast. When she was feeding the babies she was shoving the spoon into their mouths. I swear if they had any teeth they would have been knocked down those little throats. I'm surprised they had time to get the food off the spoon before it was gone, on to the next kid.
She combed/brushed hair like she was in a contest, pulling and yanking it as she raked the brush through the girls' hair. Their hair wasn't all that thick but Kate was doing everytning but pulling it out with the brush.
Ditto the one time we saw her brushing the teeth of the little ones. She crammed the toothbrush in, scrubbed it around with gusto but looked (to me) like she didn't do it very thoroughly. In, poke, poke, out, NEXT! I always thought the kids looked distressed when she was brushing their hair or their teeth.
Admin, I don't know what she was talking about, but it sure sounded to me like she knows nothing about generators. It just scared me to think she'd be in charge of getting it, placing it, filling it and turning it on. Tragedies happen when people don't know what they are doing with unfamiliar equipment.
Fido I totally agree, it's not a joke.
If her sheeple truly cared about her they would tweet her back immediately to please call someone, go online, read the directions very very carefully, be very careful as there are a lot of things you can do "wrong" with a generator. It's not like a desk fan or something where you plug it in and forget it. You could DIE or kill someone else or both.

Admin, she meant do you use it outside or inside, which is why I commented (snarkily) about having a carbon monoxide detector. She had no idea what to do with it or what runs it. Wouldn't you think that with all of her friends around there who love her, someone could help her with a generator? She must know people who could get the job done for her.
The Tom Cruise story is very interesting. I'm not a fan of his but I love that he's suing and not letting the tabloids get away with calling him a deadbeat dad.

In my opinion, the people that support Kate and her abuse of her children, animals, opportunities, freebies, and fans, are compensating for something missing in their own lives. Beauty? Money? Maybe their husbands prevented them from using a wooden spoon?
I've been a fan of many people. Mel Gibson, Rosie O'Donnell, Ted Nugent, but, once they do or say something that I find deplorable, I no longer "support" that celebrity. These Kate supporters have their heads so far up her ass that she could murder a child on film, they'd see it with their own eyes, and they'd STILL deny it.
It wasn't her.
The kid's not really dead.

I'm surprised she hasn't called Steve and begged him to come stay with them and help with the generator, etc. Or maybe she has. She just sounds so stupid and desperate in her tweets.
