Jon and Kate's Law: PA Rep. Murt's Child Labor Bill signed into law

Thank you, Rep. Murt, for the more than two years you devoted to this important cause.
A child on reality T.V. is working, not playing.
"Remember, the kids are just playing in front of the cameras, so." Kate Gosselin, Larry King Live, August 25, 2009.

A child on reality T.V. deserves to be paid fairly for their work.

The original TLC contracts provided for payment only to Kate and Jon, not to the children. After more than three years of filming, TLC finally established a trust fund for the children, in November 2009. The Gosselin children first appeared on screen in May 2006.

A child on reality T.V. deserves to have his or her money protected from their parents and others who may seek, either intentionally or unintentionally, to misappropriate it.

A child on reality T.V. deserves to have his or her health, safety, comfort, happiness and education put before obligations to their T.V. show.

Those are just some of the reforms that Rep. Tom Murt has been working for more than two years to get Pennsylvania to understand that they need. Yesterday, Governor Tom Corbett signed House Bill 1548, which affords reality T.V. kids and regular child actors the same protections. Among the reforms, it requires trust funds be set up, a parent or guardian must be allowed within sight and sound of the children at all times (the Gosselins were filmed more than once without Kate or Jon on set), and, perhaps most importantly, requires a studio teacher on set (a licensed teacher), even on reality T.V. shows, to facilitate plenty of time for mandated schoolwork and rest. Finally, an independent set of eyes on our children who are working.

A brief explanation of the hours a kid can work, which were modeled after California's strict laws and have been a little misunderstood in the press: Babies under 6 months can be on set a maximum of 2 hours. Ages 6 months to 2 years old can be on set for four hours, but can only work on camera for two. Ages 2 to 6 can be on set 6 but work just three hours. Kids ages 6 to 9 can work 4 hours a day but are allowed to be on set for 8. Kids age 9 to 16 can be on set for 9 hours, but can only work 5. The rest of the time must be devoted to rest and schoolwork. There is a mandatory rest period of at least 12 hours between consecutive shooting days. So if the family stays up late to film a segment about fireworks until 11 p.m., the children are not permitted to start work again the next day until 11 a.m.

Should the Gosselins ever film again, Kate will find herself facing some big changes on set. Thank you, Rep. Murt!

Fido I totally agree, it's not a joke.

If her sheeple truly cared about her they would tweet her back immediately to please call someone, go online, read the directions very very carefully, be very careful as there are a lot of things you can do "wrong" with a generator. It's not like a desk fan or something where you plug it in and forget it. You could DIE or kill someone else or both.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or they would tell her to call someone and ask for help getting it up and running. She should have the money to do that unless she spent it all on her booby guard. If her relationship with Jon was better then she could ask him for help getting it going.
I live in Volusia County in Florida and I read this little tid-bit in today's newspaper. Seems that Support our Troops is suing Coupon Cabin for "trade secrets". Don't know what it's all about but I will be monitoring the case online through our Clerk of the Court website. In case you don't know we have the sunshine law here and it gives the public easy access to that information.
The only thing that really surprised me about reading all of Kate's emails and diaries is she actually is a bit more aware of herself and how she is than I thought she was.
It surprised me that she would say things like she hates when she's like this, how can Jon love her, I need to put the kids in their cribs where they will be safe from me, etc. Although I have heard narcissists often have low self esteem. She just hasn't struck me as all that self aware. That being the case, I believe her to be a very tortured, disturbed woman. Being inside her head might be very difficult for her daily.
-------------------------------
Admin I had thought the same thing. Then it also occurred to me these entries were bwtween 2005-2007. I have a feeling that after 2007 the TLC became so protective that kate started to lose her grip on reality. She seems to become less self aware - even in interviews after that point in my opinion. Having TLC act like she could do no wrong. Having them possibly witness abuse and sweep it under the rug may have started to make it all "OK" in kate's mind where prior she may have questioned her behavior
Talking about grandmas, mine had a way with creative written English. I remember "in the penden" (what she wanted us to grow up to be) and "rapt and mordeth" - I wish I could remember what the context was, but essentially it was "don't go out alone at night...". She also kept things in her icebox, and she used to make chocolate candy that she rolled into little round balls and then rolled in very finely chopped walnuts - can anyone get a picture of what those looked exactly like? :-)
So Kate has FOUR (4) freezers, four...wow! I would think that anyone with four freezers (just can't get over that) would automatically invest in a generator. She has nothing between her eyes but botox.
And to everyone in the path of Frankenstorm, I hope you all have taken necessary precautions and will be safe.
In this montage of interview clips with HBB and her mother, June is asked to address concerns about sexual predators who might be watching the show (and child pageants). She offloads responsibility for that to the predators themselves. The child's behavior is disturbing, as is her mother's seeming indifference. But that comment...ugh. Shaking my head. I don't know what to say about that.
Just watched the latest forecast and it's not looking good for those of us in SE PA and even the rest of the midAtlantic states. Looks like we are going to get pounded. Our home improvement store is already out of D and 6v batteries, flashlights, gas cans and generators. In fact, there is a list of over 200 people waiting for a generator.
If you pray please say a prayer for all in the path of this storm. I am praying for all of us who live in this path, including localyocul, Berks neighbor,Robert, Polly, Al, See Saw, Lanc Co. parent, Lanc Co mom and I think wayward lives near us too. I am also praying for Kate and the children, that she doesn't panic and go out of her mind if they lose power. I have plenty of room at my house, so any locals get in touch if you need to. We have a gas fireplace that does not require electric as well as a gas stove for cooking and a gas grill.
I am not ordinarily an alarmist, but this one looks like a doozy.
Kate probably already HAS a generator that came with the house when she bought it.
I can't imagine that a doctor who owned horses and had a large house as well as an apartment would NOT have a generator for emergencies.
Kate is just shining us on as usual and we are getting sucked in along with the sheeple.
Just my opinion...
I have a generator story to share. We lost power for only 22 hours last year after Hurricane Irene. I read in our local paper's police report that someone in our town called the police the night after the storm to complain about the noise from their neighbor's generator. The police went to the neighbor's house and told them they had to shut the generator off because it was after 11:00 p.m and it violated the town's anti-noise bylaw. Can you imagine! You could hear generators going all over our neighborhood and nobody around here complained. It was after a major storm for crying out loud. I couldn't believe it when I read it.
So Kate would have everyone believe she was completely unaware of the coming storms? Not one of her EIGHT kids heard about it at school? Jon didn't mention it to Kate or if she's so immature she refuses to even acknowledge his presence, he didn't mention it to even one of the EIGHT kids?? She doesn't listen to the news at home or on car radio, never sees a headline in a newspaper when running her quadrillion errands, has not one friend who mentioned weather to her...scratch that one.
If all that is the case in the 21st century with iPads and iPods and laptops and apps and 24/7 365 news, then she is THE most self-absorbed person on the planet. She shouldn't be caring for a hamster let alone EIGHT kids if she's completely unaware of her surrounding to that extent.
Aside from hoping everyone will be safe, I feel bad for all the kids and their Halloween plans. Any which way you slice it, whether it's as bad as they say or not that bad, there's going to be a lot of rain and snow and wind on Halloween night, probably too much to be out there safely. They should plan a makeup trick or treating day, like Friday or something.
I think she really is that unaware. Scary huh? What if there were an evacuation or something, you have to know what is going on.
For the sake of her eight kids, she should have a minimum idea of what is going on in the world. If only for THEIR educational benefit so she can engage them with the world even if she is too self absorbed to care. I have a simple suggestion for her. Download the CNN app for iphone and iPad. It's FREE. Set it so that you get "news alerts."
Then you get a text-like pop up message with any really important news when it happens. They don't bombard you. They only send one out maybe once every couple days. Just the top, top, major stories. But it's a start to having a very BASIC understanding of the world. She would have known about Sandy ages ago if she had that app. And it would have only taken up a few seconds of her time a day.
And before anyone jumps down my throat or attacks, it's good she is not going and staying home with kids, for a change. Unless, she flies out today, she will not be ready for race.
Well, according to Robert's book, during the last Halloween snow storm, he he said Kate's house truly was dark during the power outage, so I'm thinking she didn't have a generator, or perhaps she just didn't know how to use it.
It's just irresponsible with eight kids not to have a plan in place to keep a house that size running. If you can't run a house like that through a crisis then, newsflash, that house is too much for you. If you don't know how to work a generator, then, newsflash, that house is too much for you.
Sure she can phone the hired help or Steve or whatever, but what is she going to do when the roads are blocked and no one can get through? You have to assume that no one will be around to help you and you have to have a plan. Either that or just turn these kids over to Jon. But the way she is running things now is playing Russian roulette.
She should be in house a third of that size and see if she can handle even that much on her own.
Does anyone else in PA think it's going to miss? Has she ever paid to any attention to the news coverage on any other hurricane? No, because it didn't affect her. Does she not see what a monster bitch Sandy Frankenstorm is?
If she had generators, she probably had them sent to the dump because they were cluttering up the space she needed for her 4 freezers.
Dear Heavens, has she not even tried to prepare for a power outage? After all this has passed, instead of cooking up all she can on a gas stove or outdoor cooker, she'll be bitching about the mess 'she' has in throwing out the spoiled and rotten freezer contents. Get the neighbors together and cook all you can outside and feed everyone before the food goes bad. Wonder if her water is from a well with an electric pump. Sure hope not. How old is the woman?
Kate the storm is not going to miss you. It's headed straight for you, direct hit. Stop hoping and start doing. If you're lucky, Home Depot might have a few flashlights left. Everyone else already went days ago before you even knew about the storm. This is when being a self absorbed uninformed ignoramus CATCHES UP.
What good is four freezers if you have no idea how to keep them running in case of a power outage? It's not really a question of will you will lose power, it's when. If it doesn't happen during this storm it will in another. For all the "saving" she does she could lose 1,000s of dollars if she loses all that food.
And really, she needs four freezers? That's almost one freezer for every two people. That's insane and unnecessary. One extra freezer for overflow is all that is needed beyond the regular kitchen freezer. Gimme a break. No sale is that good that you need four freezers for it. Leave some 50% off meat for the rest of us, we're hungry too.
When all my kids were home (sadly, I only have 6, not 8..sniff) I had one freezer. ONE. Of course I don't have the millions Kate has, but one freezer would be enough for Kate, two would be pushing it.
There is no reason for Kate to have four freezers. She would have to be doing copious amt of cooking to justify four freezers,and we all know that she cooks very little. Frozen foods also need to be consumed within a reasonable time frame.
I can't imagine what she'd have in the freezers. She doesn't have an orchard, she isn't married to a hunter, she doesn't have her own meat processed. Makes no sense.
She's on a well system out there. You're right -- no electricity, no water. We owned property that had a well. I could deal with the no heat (all electric) and no lights, but not having water and not being able to flush was horrible.
We're as ready as we'll ever be for this monster of a storm. I hope that it's all bark and no bite.
I'm picturing the big freezer chest we had in the garage growing up. Those things are HUGE and one should be plenty for even the biggest of families. You stil have your regular freezer inside too.
If she's a true organic health nut she shouldn't be buying that much packaged frozen food to begin with. They generally believe in fresh foods. She's not really a baker so she's not freezing a bunch of baked goods. Soups, I guess, but how much space could that take up?
That leaves mostly meat to freeze. Even with sales, that would be an absurd amount of stockpiling. Does she have an organized system for what needs to be eaten first? That's a lot of extra work to save a few pennies.
Frozen meat really doesn't last forever. After a couple months it doesn't taste the same and becomes vulnerable to freezer burn. It really should be eaten within eight to 12 months maximum.
I'm not seeing how this saves money. All I see in this scenario is a huge utility bill, a lot of extra work to keep organized and clean, and food poisoning.
Kate WOULD be running the LA race come hell or high water, if someone else was footing the bill----CC (if she was still employed) or RnR people. This storm would NOT be stopping her. A child need not be grinning ear to ear for a great photo. We need not even see their face. She conveyed all the love and sweetness that is an eight year old and her pup without even showing her face. Well done. That photo says a heck of a lot about Liz and who she is as a person and mother, too.
Sure you can line kids up and tell them to smile big! And you might get a few okay pics. But are you truly capturing what their childhood is all about?
Well without the kids to worry about this weekend since they're with Jon, Kate should have plenty of time to get her house ready for the storm. No excuses now.
Funny how people react differently to the storm's impending damage/power outages. Here in the Boston burbs, some people are stocking up, bringing in flying 'missiles' of lawn items and Halloween decor, have bought food, water, flashlights, all that...others say "let's hope it misses us..." (like Kate!) Meanwhile at the news of snow, everyone panics and buys out the last loaf of bread. I am a worrier, so am preparing and glued to weather updates.
I hope everyone including the Gosselins are safe- and please bring Shoka in if he's still around...
Don't you love how most dogs just take it when you smother them with love? LOL. I could kiss my dog 100 times and he would just sit there and take it. You can kind of tell he maybe doesn't necessarily want to just be kissed like that, his expression is kind of like "really, is this necessary???" But he takes it anyway.
I so love, love dogs. Love them.
What happened to can do kate??
my sakes this woman doesn't have a brain in her head.
Am hoping the kids are with their dad....maybe you guys are right, they already had it arranged beforehand due to the CC sponsored La race.
haha, yea, maybe Katerine was stocking the four freezers with prepared meals, lol.
I HATE chest freezers, you almost fall in one to get to the bottom. I was glad to replace mine with an upright.
And Kate better have all four of those freezers FULL, freezers are more efficient that way.
She probably has 50 lb sacks of organic flour in one, probably has post it notes stuck on each bag, has an EM tanner noteboard on each freezer, each one is color coded as to what is in it, what day it can be opened, who can open it, initial here and sign there, date it, then has to document it in her basement organizer, then has to write it in her masterminded folder in her kitchen, which then has to be transferred to her 8th pink iphone....
Upstater said...
I cannot believe she is just figuring out that she may need a generator and actually expected to find one in a store today. She really is out of the loop. There's a lot to be said for having family and friends locally to assist one another. This again proves she has pushed everyone away!
The kids have to be with Jon. Ya think she'll be nicer to the locals now? Nah, I don't either.
PatK said...
I'm chuckling to myself that Miss Can-Do paid no attention to the news and at the last minute unsuccessfully tried to locate a (portable, yet!) generator. You can't make this stuff up.
I doubt the kids will be with Jon past today or tomorrow, so they may still have to suffer through any blackout with her. Ugh.
And apparently Milo already knew Kate wasn't doing the LA run. No surprise there.
By the way, who is running the betting pool that a super-duper generator shows up at her door no later than Monday evening? 'Cause I'm in.
Hi all....catching up on all the comments. Thanks to everyone who replied re: when girls were allowed to wear pants to school. I've taken the consensus of dates provided and come to the conclusion that I probably don't remember ever wearing pants to school.....because I don't think they allowed us to during the years I went. I just have no recollection of EVER wearing pants/jeans to school during high school....and many of the dates given in the comments here corroborate that it probably wasn't allowed until after I graduated. Thanks again.
That darn weather channel is so dramatic. Last evening, after they said we should be prepared to be out of power "for weeks", I started feeling sick to my stomach and anxious, so turned the channel until this am. again. Still looking horribly ominous.....even worse, actually.
I don't know what else to do other than flashlights, batteries, candles, and putting all possible projectiles into the garage....and power up the phones tomorrow. No point in buying anything but a limited amount of food because with no power...no cooking and shouldn't open the fridge/freezer. They say to fill up your gas tanks (did that) and get cash in case ATM's don't work in power outage.....but I figure if the outage is that bad, stores wouldn't be open either, no?
We so rarely get hurricanes here....I almost feel confused about what else I'm supposed to do. I'm kinda spinning around in circles here...thinking I should be getting stocking up on other stuff....but not sure what.
And every single state around us has declared a state of emergency...but not Delaware....and we look to be right at ground zero in all the projected weather maps. All Gov. Markell has said is to clean out storm drains/gutters. That's it! We have either totally run out of state funds here.......or else the Governor feels sure something miraculous is gonna happen between now and tomorrow night.
Oh....and regarding the Civil War....I LOVED that civil war documentary Ken Burns made years ago....must have watched the entire thing at least 10 times (had taped it on the old VCR cassettes back then). I can still hum the song that played during most of it. Still remember the name of the historian, Shelby Foote, from it.
I developed a passion for learning about the Vietnam War in the 80's....must have read 50-60 books....and watched multiple documentaries. There was an excellent one on PBS, I remember.
If she's a true organic health nut she shouldn't be buying that much packaged frozen food to begin with. They generally believe in fresh foods. She's not really a baker so she's not freezing a bunch of baked goods. Soups, I guess, but how much space could that take up?
That leaves mostly meat to freeze. Even with sales, that would be an absurd amount of stockpiling. Does she have an organized system for what needs to be eaten first? That's a lot of extra work to save a few pennies
------------------------------------------------
I think she has the freezers to hold her grift gelt. Nothing SHE is paying for.
She doesn't eat the same food she feeds the kids - how would she know that freezer burned food does not taste right?
Hurricane - I tried to get a generator yesterday, found a few that were out of our price range (and GONE by the time I got in touch with DH to get a budget override!). Target was out of large batteries and flashlights this morning. I was able to get plenty of candles, though.
Hope this helps
Boy, Kate sure isn't understanding the weather channel if she thinks it could still "miss" us. Even if it somehow wobbles and doesn't come on land...it's still SO huge, we are guaranteed power outages. The diameter of the bands of high winds is so wide that even if it just went up the coast without making landfall, we're still in big trouble in the tri-state area here. We're screwed. I'm a nervous wreck, to be honest.
I'm so used to just preparing for big snowstorms. With them...we don't usually lose power but are stuck home for days and days. But with this....looks like it's gonna be over by Wed/Thursday. The problem will be extended power outages.....and trees, etc. blocking the roads to get out via car. But I live in a relatively rural area (tons and tons of big trees with tons and tons of leaves still on them) and most of the men here have power saws/chain saws and get right out and clear the roads around here....so normally, they would get cleared pretty quickly....and if stores re-open, I could go out and get stuff.
So it's not so much getting stuck for days and days WITH power...it will more likely be the "out of power for days but CAN get out to the store after about a day or two".
Please forgive me for rambling. I'm a nervous wreck here, I really am. Looks terrifying on the weather channel. We have LOTS of really tall, top-heavy trees on our property and on those of all the neighbors. Trees go down in EVERY serious storm here....it's just a matter of which one of us ends up with one going down on our house or vehicle.
Without saying an invasive word, Liz may have gotten the message out that the kids are safe with Jon for the storm.
If Kate is dashing about trying to find a generator and other emergency supplies, I doubt she has the children out shopping with her.
Dee -- did you get a car charger for your phone and a small battery radio? Those are on my list for today, as well as a trip to Barnes and Noble for a few good books! You're right about the food. I didn't stock up because when the power goes out, we'd lose everything in the refrigerator and freezer, and you can't cook. I made sure I had enough pet food, though (probably enough to last them through the winter!). Not much else we can do except sit and wait.
Other than peanut butter and jelly, and granola bars, applesauce, canned tuna, crackers and snack food, I don't know what else to get!
Good luck! Stay safe. We're under a state of emergency here and in the direct line of fire. I see that mandatory evacuations have been ordered in parts of New York. Anything in Delaware?
My stomach is literally churning.
She drags her twink of a bodyguard all over God's green earth (and demands SOMEONE ELSE pay for him) under the ruse of "I am a mother of 8 children and I must take my safety very seriously for their sake."
But after sitting in the dark for a couple days during last October's snowstorm, she took NO further precautions to prevent that from happening again. First and foremost, for her children's safety and secondly, for her four freezers. I believe she said she still gets sides of organic beef and there was those 20 cases of chicken she clucked about 6-7 months ago. Couple mil still in the bank and she did jack squat to protect herself and her children. But never fear! Purseboy is always there to hold her lip gloss and ride her to the finish line on the scooter!!!!!!
She actually has the balls to sit and say "waaahhhhh! No generators left, anyone have any ideas?
Let me translate: "Any big strong handsome electrical service owners want to give me a free commercial sized generator and hardwire it for automatic backup? All for free, of course. I will not be grateful, nor will I promote your business and I will probably tell my tweeties I bought it myself, but call me if you can help me out!"
It's just despicable.
Thank God the kids are with Jon & Liz.
To all my local galz and your families, please stay safe, dry and warm :) I'm heading out now with one of the DSs to add to our provisons and fill some more gas cans for our generator. We actually didn't lose power during last October's snow, only our cable & internet. We don't usually get that lucky, I'm afraid we're due. I have an antique wagon in my yard I fill with pumpkins, mums, gourds, apples, etc, every fall. I need to take all that apart, too. Take care all and bring it on! We're ready :)
For one thing, she is enjoying all the tweets worrying about her and the kids during this storm. Her tweeties are giving her advice about generators,etc. and she's just lapping it up. Poor Kate-all alone in the midst of the "franken storm". IMO, she loves this attention.
Someone pointed out that her well runs on electricity--good point. Tell me in the almost 4 years she has been in that house, that no one, no one at all, has suggested a generator. Not TLC, not her fix-it "friends", the "Smiths"--no one. Especially, after last year's storm.
IMO, she's playing them--just like she did during the storm last year. " Oh, woe is me" is Kate's mantra right now. She loves that her tweeties are so concerned about her and she's playing it to the hilt.
Just want to offer a couple storm tips from a Florida native (w/apologies if already offered, or if too obvious!):
-if no electricity, a stovetop coffee maker will come in handy if you have a BBQ. (That will help avoid endless lines just for coffee at the few Burger Kings with electricity)
-after everyone's showered, you may want to clean the tub well and fill it w/water. You can't drink it, but it can be used to flush toilets.
-a friend of mine buys sod to put in her lanai for her dog to relieve herself until it's safe to go outside (interestingly, during one Hurricane, the dog moved from room to room as the storm shifted in order to be furthest from it. so, if you're blessed with a beloved dog, you can always follow their lead)
-take care outside afterwards due to downed power lines.
-also, at least here in Florida, you can sometimes be surprised by a harmless black snack that takes refuge in your garage
-remember, the media always seems to make it scarier than it needs to be.
Best Wishes :)
Hehehe....love Sue Buddy's latest.
Making a list of last minute items to run to the store with. Have dog food....will get extra bag of treats (he always gets a treat after doing his business when we take him out).
Normally, I'd be stocking up on my coffee, half and half, etc...but no point to doing that. Just the thought of having to go for days without hot coffee upsets me.
Water no problem...not on a well system. It will mainly be no power and trees down ALL over the neighborhood here and blocking roads.
But....let's check my gratitude list. At least it should be cool, temperature-wise. I can deal with power outages so much better when it's not hot and humid out. And as far as I know, this isn't supposed to be a thunder/lightening event....as our poor dog is terrified of that and becomes a basket case. He's absolutely terrified of thunder. If the wind roaring becomes loud enough, though....that might scare him. He'll just pace and hyperventilate until it stops.
I wonder if someday far into the future they will develop power systems totally impervious to storms/high wind events.
I wish I was the dog right now. He's just sitting here, totally unconcerned. My entire extended family is in DE, MD, NJ and NY and PA.
Still virtually nothing from the Gov./state of DE. I can't believe it. And they showed one of their people on the weather channel down at Rehoboth beach and she said she didn't see any storm preparations taking place YET. WTH? Is it just me who sees DE as being right at ground zero, pretty much?
Very scared. Last time a hurricane came this close (and that one didn't even make landfall....it was 2003/2004 time frame)...it sounded like a massive train was heading for the house all night long. And my husband works night shift Sunday and Monday. It will be just me and the dog....cowering together.
Dee -- Start now filling all the bottles, jugs and basins you have with water. That way you'll have water for bathing and drinking if you lose power. This is in addition to filling your bathtub(s). If you don't have running water for a few days, you'll still be able flush and to sponge off even if you can't shower. Stock up on food that doesn't require cooking -- cheese, crackers, peanut butter, jellies, bread or bagels, canned meat like tuna and chicken, fruits and veggies you can store without refrig. and eat raw. If you have the space, freeze baggies of water, so you'll have ice that you can keep things cool with for a couple of days. As someone suggested, get a small portable charcoal grill and a couple of bags of charcoal. You might even look for a couple of camping pots and pans, so you could heat up soup or water on the grill -- or look around the house for old pans/pots you don't mind maybe damaging. You can heat up canned foods right in the can, too, just make sure you open the lid first (That's another thing -- if you don't have a hand operated can opener, get one). Have enough supplies to do you for a week, because if you do lose power, odds are it will be out at least that long. If you have a pet, make sure you have enough pet food for a t least a week, too. And check any prescriptions and make sure you have a week's worth, or get them refilled today.
Prayers and good thoughts for all of you in the path of this storm. It sounds like a monster. It's much better to be prepared and not need it than to ignore and be sorry later.
I'm not even worried about heating food...I can live on PB& J for a few days if I have to......or I can loot the Halloween candy I have here ready for Wednesday. :D It's just the hot coffee I'll really miss.....and if I can make it to ANY store, I'll just go out every day and buy a hot cuppa coffee 2-3 times daily. That's what I've always done when power is out.
They don't have such a thing as battery-operated hot cups, do they?
Where we live almost every square inch is covered by these really, really tall but relatively narrow trees....not even sure what they are...maples and elms? and they always go down all over the place here in every bad storm. That's an automatic guarantee....so we lose power all the time....but usually only for 1-3 days at the most.
As soon as the storm abates...everyone comes outside to see whose house had a tree land on it and whose vehicle had a tree fall on it. It's a matter of whose, not if. I think I'm gonna park out in the middle of the backyard. Almost all of our really tall trees are in the front of the house. That derecho storm we had in early summer ripped whole trees up out of the ground and split trees in half. We lost 2 trees in that one. I never knew there were so many tree companies in the area.....and even with them, most guys here go out with chainsaws and trucks and cut up and haul out all their own downed trees.
All these tall leafy trees we have here are beautiful, especially in the fall (like they are right now)....but NOT in rare weather events like this. In these cases, they just make the whole situation a hundred times more dangerous.....and right now, I wish they weren't even here.
Wouldn't that be a great invention? A hot pot that works on batteries?
What I'd probably do is brew an entire pitcher full of coffee (and put it aside) and then just heat it up one cup at a time as needed.
There are so many ways that she can hint that Shoka is doing well and is save!
After one hurricane, no power for 10 count em 10 days. Ice was priority but with trees blocking all the streets, we had to rely on each other. The heat, humidity, bugs, darkness-total darkness except for flashlights at night. No contact with the outside world beyond how far we could walk. The rest of the world got updates by the minute and we had only rumors. We will have a generator and enough fuel for the next one. Batteries, manual can opener,cash and a full tank of gas. propane for the grill, bathtub full of water to flush, large blue tarps to cover your roof, just in case, and a gas powered chain saw.
TAKE LOTS OF 'BEFORE' PICTURES OF YOUR HOME AND ALL PROPERTY. ALL ANGLES INCLUDING DISTANCE PICTURES TO DOCUMENT TREES AND YOUR NEIGHBOR'S TREES. Unfortunately, they will fall in those winds and the wet ground. They are helpful dealing with insurance later.
We don't like to think about needing all of these things, but wish we had and had planned better. Better safe than sorry.
If she really does not have a generator, she has now broadcast that fact to all the psychotic twitter fans the fact that if the power does go out, she is very vulnerable out in the middle of nowhere with no power. I hope the kids are at Jon's house during this time so that they will be safe. She really is not very smart.
I wonder if she knows what she can actually plug into a generator, based on size. There is no way she can run 4 freezers on a portable generator. She can get away with one refrigerator on a portable generator and maybe an electric heater, but that would be it.
#110 You say the kids went through HELL? How do you know that? They have 2 parents. If Kate flew off the handle, like all mother do at times, working and raising children, just how much HELL did they go through other than what you are reading in Robert's Journal. Jon has not said his kids were beaten and gone thru HELL. You are saying that. The past is over. The kids want peace. If you don't want to see their photos then don't go on Kate Gosselin's web site. It is not for you or me, it is for her fans and she is entitled to do that. Never claim to tell anyone how to raise their kids.
Go to Facebook and look at all the photos of everyone's children, family, lives, details of everything they eat, where they go, very vivid details of relationships. You do not see that on Gosselin's site.
More should be done to let the kids live and go to school, activities but it is the people who hate anything Gosselin will do. Gosselin exists, so do 8 children that want people to stop destroying their mother, their safety (yes this is brought about by people who continue to say horrible things like the kids lived through HELL) Jon was there, ask him. He says nothing like that.
Just a reminder for anyone with a generator, have adequate ventilation. Carbon monoxide can kill, of you run it indoors, or in a garage under an occupied room, anyone could get carbon monoxide poisoning and die. Also adding gas to the generator must be done carefully to avoid fire. In my local area, after every big hurricane and power outrage, someone does from one of these causes.
Also do not let anyone go outside when wind is blowing hard. people in my county died from trees falling on them after Isabel. If they had stayed inside, they would not have died.
Good luck everyone! We will be driving north on 95 tomorrow, hoping we are far enough West of the worst of the winds.
Parent 168, when are local forecasters expecting the weather to get bad?
----------------
Our local guy is saying it's going to start getting breezy on Sunday afternoon, with some showers coming in. Overnight Sunday and into Monday, the wind will pick up and the rain. Height of the storm should be Monday afternoon through Tuesday night, as much as 12 inches of rain could fall. The problem seems to be since it's fall, and the leaves aren't off the trees yet, that the wind and rain will topple trees and power lines. That's what they are most concerned about...the loss of power for an extended period of time. The timeline seems to change by the hour.
I need to buy a battery radio. I have a little Casio LCD color television that runs on batteries, but I can't seem to pick up any signals on it right now.
I just hope that this is all hype.
Parent, I know this is late but I wanted to say that you most likely will never get TV stations on your little set again. in 2001, right after 9/11, the President at the time spearheaded legislation mandating that all major TV stations over a certain megahertz get off the airwaves and onto digital feed only. Then Congress sold the rights to the digital feed slots in order to raise money. In order to accomodate TV sets that were not digital, a converter box was developed - Remember the coupons that President Bush was promoting to help defray the cost of the box? You dont need this if you have cable TV, but for those that were using rabitt ears or other antennae to catch local stations, they no longer are 'in the airwaves'. It is a digital feed only and converter box, which requires its own electrical source, is needed.
There is no reason for Kate to have four freezers. She would have to be doing copious amt of cooking to justify four freezers,and we all know that she cooks very little. Frozen foods also need to be consumed within a reasonable time frame.
I can't imagine what she'd have in the freezers. She doesn't have an orchard, she isn't married to a hunter, she doesn't have her own meat processed. Makes no sense.
Oh I know~~ she keeps her money in them,lol.
After a huge ice storm left us without power for days a few years ago, I bought a Coleman 2 burner propane stove that uses the little cans of propane. (Make sure you have ventilation).
When we had the blizzard last Halloween, we boiled water and made dripcoffee with a plastic cone and a reusable gold filter. Paper filters
would have worked too.
I keep little containers of Parmalat (milk that does not needvrefrigeration until you open it).
In Kate's defense, she kept hearing Frankenstorm, and she thought it was the name of a halloween heavy metal band. All week long, she has breaking a sweat trying to arrange a free concert on her lawn; since Frankenstorm is comin' to town and all. Milo told her Hurricane was a-comin', and Kate thought that was the opening act, a country band maybe.
barbee said...
Even IF she can afford to buy and run 4 freezers, it is a waste. With the mini-portions she feeds her kids they couldn't eat 4 freezers worth of food before it would get freezer burn. But, then again, we all saw her basement/garage storage areas with all the shelves full of duplication beyond need of items BECAUSE the stuff was on sale, she had her QPons, and she had to take them before someone else might end up having MORE STUFF THAN SHE HAS.
Hand held, non electric can opener. Not a church key bottle opener, but the kind you turn to open a can.
WARNING FOR THE SQUEAMISH - Also, ziplock bags and paper lunch bags. If you cannot flush your toilets due to sewers being backed up, you can put your used toilet paper in a ziplock baggie and then into a paperbag. This will buy you a little time, as you wont have the paper building up in your toilet, just the waste. Still, not putting the paper in will ease it just a bit.
How Kate can be so clueless is beyond my train of thought. She has 8 kids to worry about-she is supposedly their "main care giver". How she could not know or care about their safety is mind-boggling.
She's playing it for all it's worth. "Poor me--I have 8 kids to take care of--I'm so helpless!"
As if Jon or anyone else that cares about the kids would let them be in a situation where they are totally defenseless.
Kate is doing what she does best-acting totally vunerable, so her tweeties can support her and show they're total love for her.
When will they ever realize that she's is using them--using them and convincing them that she is this poor, hapless mother of eight. Why don't they question what happened to "Can do Kate"? One day she's "super mom", now she is "poor Kate-she needs our help".
It's really pathetic that she will use them this way, and more pathetic that they don't see it.
As far as Kate mentioning her freezers, she was just bragging. Who else would mention the number of freezers they have? Also, I think she has so many because at one time, she was getting free food to fill them. No way would the ultimate grifter spend her money to fill 4 freezers. And no way would she need 4 freezers if she wasn't getting so many hand outs. What a piece of work she is.
Just worrying about a generator now? What was she waiting for? This has been on the news for days. Nothing like waiting till the last minute. Idiot.
Since I live in the midwest, every spring I prepare a "tornado bag". The hubs teases me about this, but if something should happen, we are prepared for a couple of days. Not to mention, we have a generator ready, as well as flashlights, candles, etc. It's just something you have to be ready for here. I am amazed that a mother is as unprepared as Kate is. The kids did go through hell - by Kate's own words she beat them harshly with an implement on a daily basis, sometimes several times a day when they were toddlers. She kept them confined to their cribs as long as she could get away with it. When they were filming, she beat them to smile for the cameras. They had to work long hours for however long they were filming, when they were sick, tired and cranky. They were treated like commodities, matching dolls, instead of the individual, developing lively children that they were.
And that's just what we know about.
From what I've heard of her father, I think she was raised in a household where women are trained to be subservient to the men, and was not allowed to develop her own ideas, opinions and abilities. She's never grown out of that. From her shrieking at Jon in the airport to "Joooooon, Lead us!" to requiring a police escort to get 10 miles from her home to relying on the boobyguard to handle everything when traveling, she's never made an attempt to become an independent, functioning adult woman.
I had a brilliant idea....gonna try it out later to see if it works. I usually buy those little candles in glass jars (they seem safer to me) and I pulled out one of the electric burners (small one) on the stove top, it can sit on the opening of the glass candle safely and still let air in so the flame wouldn't go out...and then I am gonna try sitting a cup of cooled-down coffee on it and see if I can get it to heat it.
If it works....I figured I can brew up a bunch of coffee ahead of time and just save it in a carafe.....and maybe heat it up by the cup on a stove burner sitting over the mouth of a glass-encased candle?
I'm gonna try it later.
Hehe...went to Walgreen's earlier and they must have gone back into their storage room and found a load of D and C batteries and had set up a big table right at the front of the store with a big sign saying "Are you ready for Frankenstorm?"....also had candles, etc. there. KATE’S HARROWING EXPERIENCE
  We had our one and only snow storm just before Halloween, 2011. To everyone else in Berks County, it was just another snowstorm. But to Kate Gosselin, it was a harrowing experience that she barely survived. Kate described the scene at her house to her Twitter followers to make it sound like she and the kids were snowed in like Jack Nicholson and the Torrence family in the movie The Shining. It was great drama to follow along at home in another state I’m sure. Except for I was at my house, ten minutes away from Kate’s house, reading her Tweets and looking out my front window, and wondering just what the heck she could have been drinking at the time to be Tweeting such nonsense. You all bought it though, right? What we had here was an early snowstorm, with wet snow, so it stuck to tree branches and knocked down the weaker branches from the trees. It was nothing special for this part of the country. But to Kate Gosselin??? Well, that’s quite a different story as always. Her situation is always unique, and more important than yours or mine. She always has it worse than everyone else. I personally drove to Kate’s house three times during her ‘harrowing experience,’ to document what was actually going on during the day and night. I took many photographs of the roads leading to Kate’s house, Kate’s plowed driveway, and Kate’s completely plowed at all times roads, not only in front of her house, but all the way into
town and to the highways. The TOTAL accumulation of snow on Kate Gosselin’s property was 5.5 INCHES. Just under the six inches that was forecast for her area. I photographed me standing in the snow in her front yard (on the other side of her fence of course,) and I photographed a measuring stick next to my boots in her front yard. I did this twice – at the height of the snow and her Tweeting, and at 7 am the next morning after the snow had stopped. Here’s how Kate described the mild snowstorm via Twitter: 3 pm Saturday, at the height of the storm.
  Um instead of painting pumpkins today, we are shoveling our 6 inches of snow.. And counting. Not cool
At 3 pm on Saturday, there was just under one and a half inches of snow on Kate’s property. I was there in person measuring it.
  And did I mention we lost power? Cold lunch and uh cereal for dinner?
I guess Kate forgot that she has a huge grill under her covered back porch, right outside of her basement doors, where the snow was not falling.
MiloandJack @Kateplusmy8 Better preserve ur phone charge… may need it 4 emergency if no land line. U have someone I hope U call 2 help out?   @MiloandJack oh didn’t think of that!
Oh no!   Kate didn’t think of that. Yeah, no kidding. Big surprise there.
MiloandJack @BarbGilmer @Kateplusmy8 Oh we’re definitely gonna hit her up 4 more than just a “hello”! The things we do 4 her… sacrifice! :)   @MiloandJack @BarbGilmer I’ve lost most of my driveway trees to the heavy snow. We are stuck bc of branches. 8 + inches of snow now.   Did you hear that? 8 + inches of snow now? At 4 in the afternoon? And she lost most of her driveway trees?? There was actually about two and a half to three inches of snow, maybe, at that time. I was there at her house by now and Kate’s driveway had already been plowed by her snow-removal company the first time and a few very small branches were pushed off to the side all along the driveway. This is in stark contrast to the many, many people whose houses I passed on the way to Kate’s that actually had significant tree damage and were outside cleaning up the mess. Kate says “I’ve lost most of my driveway trees to the heavy snow.” She lost one tree, up close to her front door. It split in half. The other thirty trees were in perfect condition, until the following week when she had them pruned way back to prevent any future snow damage, like happened to the one, single damaged tree. “Most of my driveway trees” was one tree out of thirty. A big fat lie.   @MiloandJack @BarbGilmer And still no power!:(   Just then, one of Kate’s favorite Tweeties throws a wrench into Kate’s plans of creating this
They keep fridges and freezers cold a little longer and when melted can provide water for flushing, if needed. I also do all of my laundry and vacuum the house but that's just me. Make sure you know exactly where your house insurance papers are and keep them safe. If you lose food from your freezer keep an accurate tally of what was lost and approximate cost as many insurance companies will reimburse you for this loss. Good luck and stay safe.
incredible drama. She asks to see a picture of the damage. Kate takes and posts to Twitter, pictures of anything and everything under the sun. This would have been a simple, no-brainerish thing for Kate to do. But…   @BarbGilmer @dowd24 @Kateplusmy8 Yes take pic, im trying 2 visualize all the damage done to the trees!   And Kate churns away for a little while thinking of an excuse before saying…   @BarbGilmer @dowd24 I cant it’s too upsetting. Trunks left along driveway. Branches everywhere… I am so do upset   Oh the humanity!!! Poor Katie Irene! Trunks and branches EVERYWHERE!
EVERYWHERE! But she can’t take a picture?? I took some pictures. Besides the one tree right up by her front door, the rest were fine. They had some thin little weak branches neatly pruned off by the heavy snow and were all good to go. Then, the Kate Tweeties throw another common sense question at Kate Gosselin, “The most organized person on the planet,” and the person who is giving the rest of us advice on how to run a household…   @BarbGilmer @dowd24 @MiloandJack You do have a generator don’t ya?   @BarbGilmer @MiloandJack no :(   A giant house out in the country, with eight kids inside with refrigerators and several freezers filled with food, and Kate doesn’t have a backup generator? I live almost in the city and I have a backup everything. Just in case.   Driveway is now plowed, branches pushed2the side& still no power/ heat.Cereal &fruit salad 4 dinner.Kids ea have flashlight/ playing in dark!   The house was completely dark so I’ll give Kate that the power was out.   I’m literally sick abt my tree loss. Too expensive2replace trees& they were my favorite part of property!;( Worried abt cold temps overnight   Was that comment about trees being too expensive to replace to get people to send money?? Who knows. What I do know is that there was one seriously damaged tree. And Kate posted a picture of that one damaged tree. And told us that the rest were just like that one. Except for the pictures that I took at the very same time show all of the trees along the driveway in tact. I’m honestly surprised she was this stupid. If the lazy paparazzo would have been interested, he could have easily driven an hour to take the same photos to prove her wrong.   @BarbGilmer @Kateplusmy8 It could be a lot worse kate, at least you all are together! :)   @BarbGilmer I know but feel helpless   This was at 7 pm. I drove home and came back, just to see what was going on around town. This was a normal snowy Saturday night in Berks County. The roads were plowed and fine. All of the restaurants near Kate’s house and her Target shopping center were alive and bustling with crowds. If Kate truly felt helpless, and was worried about her children being cold, or eating cold food, she could have SIMPLY driven her very large SUV down her plowed driveway, through her open front gate, down her completely plowed road to any one of the many hotels in the area, including the Homewood Suites, where Kate used to stay when Jon would come for custody. The same hotel where Tony and the DWTS crew would stay, which is a stone’s throw from about twelve restaurants, one of which is in the same parking lot. The
Texas Roadhouse. At the very same time of night that Kate was describing her harrowing experience being ‘snowed in,’ my wife and kids were hosting a Halloween party at our house with many of the kid’s friends and parents there having a great time – ten minutes from Kate’s house on Heffner Road, so life was going on. People were out and about.     @Jules01930 @Kateplusmy8 aww so sorry Kate, I know your disappointed, but it’s the material things u can replace LATER. As long as ur fam isn’t hurt.   @ Jules01930 I know that well but the trees gives usprivacy :)     U hav NO idea what Id do4a HOT coffee! I’m freezing2the core( I’m always cold even in summer)!
Here’s a thought Kate, use your cell phone to call one of the twenty restaurants within ten minutes of your house and order takeout. The roads are clear. And yes, you can have coffee delivered too.   Kids were playing haunted house in basement.Now playing a flashlight game ie lights click on as quick as poss aft Mady names what 2shine on   Thank God the twins were there to take care of the sextuplets while Kate complained and Tweeted to strangers the entire time.   @jvd831 @Kateplusmy8 “I just bought a portable batt pack, u charge it + can plug stuff ie: coffee maker, lamp, ph chargers if pwr   And to that, Kate Gosselin, the most organized person on the planet says…   @jvd831 really? Were do I get such a miraculous invention?   Ummm, how about Target, Dick’s Sporting Goods or any other store near your house. I have one, you know, just in case. Kate’s never even heard of them? Doesn’t surprise me. And now here comes another of her many, many lies during this ordeal. It’s hilarious how even her Twitter followers, which are mostly teenage girls, can figure out what to do. But not Kate.   @judy5611 @Kateplusmy8 use your grill to cook. Don’t you have a fireplace? Go to Wally world & get a couple heaters. Close off all rooms but one.   @judy5611 roads not plowed. Can’t go anywhere   Again, at this point, I’m standing in Kate’s driveway, having driven to her house. The roads were perfectly clear and simple to drive on. Even with kids in the SUV or BBB.   @jules1930 @Kateplusmy8 awfully quiet Kate how u holding up?   @jules1930 lack of caffeine is making me sluggish. Kids still going strong. Humming twinkle twinkle in stereo w flash light clicks 4 beat     @MissouriMamaof2 @Kateplusmy8 theres always starbucks ! Our Target has one in the entrance ! :-)   @MissouriMamaof2 snowed in     Going2charge my phone in car now… B back later.. Don’t panic! We r fine :) (as fine as we can b w/ o lights, heat, hot food& coffee that is lol)     @CJWhodunit @Kateplusmy8 -almost lost our trees and bushes 2, I went out several times during storms with baseball, knocking off snow!   @CJWhodunit I shook branches too… Couldn’t get to them fast enough. Branches broke on treed next to me as I furiously worked   Anyone who believes that Kate Gosselin went out in the snow and “furiously worked,” please stand up. You are now the stupidest person on the planet. Kate got and stole that idea from her Tweetie, as she does oh so very often.   @CJWhodunit @Kateplusmy8 Oh, okay, the older trees… all of them? From the weight of the snow? We had snowstorms twice last spring-   @CJWhodunit yes, lost at least half of each tree and
one is now just a trunk :(     @CJWhodunit @Kateplusmy8 Hopefully there’s some insurance coverage that can help with (tree) replacement. You haven’t had them that long, have you?   @CJWhodunit the trees along driveway (lining the entire driveway) fell. They were planted when house was built-before us!   So Kate just told you there that the trees lining the entire driveway fell. I took photos the next moring showing all trees but one still in tact with only minor branch damage. Kate later had them pruned back, to prevent future damage.   @molly_grant41 @Kateplusmy8 How much snow did you guys get?   @molly_grant41 10-12 inches   The total snowfall ON KATE’S PROPERTY was 5.5 inches when the snow ended. I measured it inside of her fence. Even Kate’s teenage fans and stay-at-home moms are surprised at how stupid and helpless Kate is.   @4ericksons @Kateplusmy8 u do not need the electric light for stove. You can light it with match. Boil water. Been there Kate tryin 2 help   @4ericksons I don’t have any matches— they scare me! But I would have tried a candle lighter thingee had I known! :)     @sharmon1999 @Kateplusmy8 I’m surprised u don’t have a backup generator. Has this ever happened before?   @sharmon1999 not this long     @MiloandJack @Kateplusmy8 See isn’t twitter really grand… here U go thru this ordeal & U have ur tweeties 2 stand w/ ya… encourage ya!   @MiloandJack YES! My phone is charging in car while I tweet on iPad using its 17% power remaining! I don’t feel alone w just a flashlight now!   Eight children in the house with her during a power outage and she feels alone without her Twitter perfect strangers to comfort and encourage her. I guess the little kids were comforting and encouraging themselves as usual. Sad. No, pathetic.   Dear PP& L: My 8kids want pancakes 4bkfast& I NEED coffee2function as a momof8. If u can fix r wires b4 am I’ll b 4ever grateful.Luv, gosselins   It would be such a treat to hear Kate speak or give an interview without constantly reminding us that she has eight children. Yes, Kate, we get it. You have eight kids. You’re a mom of eight. Kateplusmy8. We get it!!! What else can you do??   I am warm and so r my kids. I need2go2sleep now.It’s been a long harrowing day! Good night all& thx for keeping me company tonight! xoxo   Too bad Kate couldn’t enjoy the company of her eight children who were in the house the entire time she was Tweeting away to strangers.     damon1450 @Kateplusmy8 apparently sals landscaping took care of your trees for free in return for you promoting them? #doesne1pay4anythingnemore     @damon1450 apparently you assume a lot! I paid thousands of dollars post snow storm 2 preserve but apprec a great company& thank them too! 3.23.12
Don't you love how most dogs just take it when you smother them with love? LOL. I could kiss my dog 100 times and he would just sit there and take it. You can kind of tell he maybe doesn't necessarily want to just be kissed like that, his expression is kind of like "really, is this necessary???" But he takes it anyway.
I so love, love dogs. Love them
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
When my son was 4 years old, he used to kiss and hug all over our dog at the time. The dog would get these big eyes and look at us like "I know the kid loves me but this is icky." We still laugh about the expression on that pup's face! But he loved that child, followed him around, would lay down in the Lego pile on the floor just to be near his favorite kid.
Sometimes my Rott will get a look like that when I am smoochin' him up and HoneyBunny always says the dog looks like he is thinking "The things I gotta put up with around here, just for a rope toy and a bit of dry kibble."
If you lose power, your washing machine can be used as a cooler. Have cash, and if you live in a low lying area, built on rock, you might want to leave. We live 500 yds. from the river, 5 minutes from the beach, but have never flooded because we're built on sand. We stay for up to Cat. 2, Leave at a Cat 3 because it's the winds that do the most damage here. Gas up your cars. Oh, and the "Help" is always situated just outside of the storm. Have enough supplies for 3 days. Power crews will have a hard time getting to you if trees are blocking the road. We went w/o power for THREE months during Andrew in the Kendall area of Miami. I can now eat ANYTHING out of a can.;)
BTW, the storm was a whole lotta nothin' here on the FL Coast. Windy, rainy, windy, rainy.
Anonymous, your comment that no one has a right to tell someone else how to raise their children is wrong. Parents do NOT have the right to abuse their children. This kind of behavior should be reported for the safety of the children. I am not just talking about Kate, but any child that is being abused. No parent has the right to do that.
readerlady, I respectfully disagree with your opinion that Kate cannot take control because she was raised to be subservient. I know many pastors and their wives and family and women are supportive to their husbands, yet strong and independent. My personal opinion is that Kate loves to be in control and tell others what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. She also loves to have everyone do everything for her, and do it her way. I also believe she is just lazy and has always expected someone to do everything for her so she doesn't have to do it herself. Her "can do Kate" was just another way to try to sell the crap she was shoveling.
I honestly mean no offense, readerlady. This is just my opinion.
There are portable TVs for sale that can receive digital signals. 172
readerlady, thanks! I checked the link and could receive around 10 channels with a strong signal. It says you'll do best with a uhf and
vhf antenna. Would you tell me what kind of batteries they use (only one in my search told me), how long they last and can you recommend a
brand ? My online search was not particularly helpful.
Thanks.
I apologize for my posts complaining about Kate. Our friends on the east coast are facing a hurricane and people here are giving suggestions. And me? I'm snarking on Kate. I'm so sorry.
I have no suggestions for anyone because I have never been in that situation. The only thing I can say, that I have said before, is please stay safe and my prayers are with you all. God bless.
Today I went food shopping and of course, one of my goals was to also get batteries. My supermarket was out of "D" batteries(which are use in most flashlights). I went to CVS and they were out also.
I decided to stop in at my local 7-11, which just happens to be next door to me. They not only had "D" batteries-they had 10 cases of them!
So if anyone is looking for "D" batteries, check out 7-11 and similar stores. Everyone is running to the big name stores-but no one apparently is checking the smaller stores.
I was thinking about the beautiful picture Liz tweeted. If Jon has Shoka, surely the children would be cuddling with him and Liz could get a pic.
Neither Liz or Kate should be tweeting pics of the kids whether you can see their faces or not. Pit bulls don't have a good track record to begin with and the dog and kids hardly know each other. Just asking for trouble, IMO. I hope we don't read about one of them being mauled
Having trouble posting under my name.
This was on the Honey Boo Boo (Alana) FB fan page and I am posting it because June (the mom) explains the Dr Drew interview, and she says some things we have heard before- about if they didnt want to be on tv she would take them off, so I am hoping it's true in this case. SO here it is- June's reply to the criticism of the Dr Drew interview~~
oh k im going to answer this as a whole about the dr drew interview we done when dr drew ask her about being on tv and she said no and she didn't like fans coming up to her they didn't show the other part of that they edited out the rest like most news and media does to get a reaction out of ppl after she said she them im just kidding I LOVE seeing my self on TV but I don't like when ppl take alot of pics of me she was meaning the paparazzi not fans cause the night b4 at the fountains on the walk of fame at the shopping center she went to play in the fountains after kimmel and about 50 paparazzi followed and cause it caused alot of attention they turned the fountain off she was so mad bout that she is 7 and yes some days she wants to b left alone like anyone does but trust me if she hated being on tv I would b the first to stop production period cause my kids r #1 so I hope this clears up some of the questions from that interview ..
Thank you for posting that, butterfly. However, I don't believe her. Kate said the same thing on TV and look how she upheld that "conviction".
I'm a little concerned about what's going to happen here in the hellhole. I'm sure they have backup power to a certain extent, but...I asked my friend/landlord if he might be able to bring flashlights/batteries from my apartment and he said "If I get a chance." I know what that means and it's pretty damn frustrating. If I lose cable and internet I'd like to at least be able to read a book. Well, every weather event they've hyped in this area over at least a couple of years has fizzled, so maybe that will be the case again. Good luck to everyone that is likely to be more in the direct path.
