The original TLC contracts provided for payment only to Kate and Jon, not to the children. After more than three years of filming, TLC finally established a trust fund for the children, in November 2009. The Gosselin children first appeared on screen in May 2006.
A child on reality T.V. deserves to have his or her money protected from their parents and others who may seek, either intentionally or unintentionally, to misappropriate it.

Those are just some of the reforms that Rep. Tom Murt has been working for more than two years to get Pennsylvania to understand that they need. Yesterday, Governor Tom Corbett signed House Bill 1548, which affords reality T.V. kids and regular child actors the same protections. Among the reforms, it requires trust funds be set up, a parent or guardian must be allowed within sight and sound of the children at all times (the Gosselins were filmed more than once without Kate or Jon on set), and, perhaps most importantly, requires a studio teacher on set (a licensed teacher), even on reality T.V. shows, to facilitate plenty of time for mandated schoolwork and rest. Finally, an independent set of eyes on our children who are working.
A brief explanation of the hours a kid can work, which were modeled after California's strict laws and have been a little misunderstood in the press: Babies under 6 months can be on set a maximum of 2 hours. Ages 6 months to 2 years old can be on set for four hours, but can only work on camera for two. Ages 2 to 6 can be on set 6 but work just three hours. Kids ages 6 to 9 can work 4 hours a day but are allowed to be on set for 8. Kids age 9 to 16 can be on set for 9 hours, but can only work 5. The rest of the time must be devoted to rest and schoolwork. There is a mandatory rest period of at least 12 hours between consecutive shooting days. So if the family stays up late to film a segment about fireworks until 11 p.m., the children are not permitted to start work again the next day until 11 a.m.

That is actually a very good question, and can be one of those excellent teachable moments. I grew up in some of the areas of Virginia flooding now. Keeping an eye on the weather was something everyone did every day. You can get a hurricane tracking map from Red Cross out NOAA. you can track tropical waves as they move across the Atlantic and become tropical depressions, storms, or hurricanes. Teaching children basic emergency preparedness is just another life skill. Be calm, matter of fact, and talk about weather, geography and tides, get kids to help make lists of what would be in their emergency bags, things like that. let's see if Ms Kreider adds any of this to the hurricane liary.
I hope the kids are with their dad, Kate makes EVERYTHING. A. CRISIS.
I can imagine if she does experience some bad weather, she will be shrieking, sobbing,and crumpled into a ball, all the while the kids are trying to comfort her. I bet it's exhausting to be around her, she just makes everything so hard.

Robert Hoffman has a new and must I say rather disturbing post up on his Gosselin book site. If any of what he says there is true and if this happened recently, then Jon had better RUN to the courthouse and get those kids out of there. If it was in the past, maybe this is why the custody arrangement and child support changed.
For the poster that opened her garage door to greet strangers, I cringed when I read her post. Some time last yr, it was reported in Dallas (I don't live far from there) that women, upon their return home in the mornings from taking the kids to school, were leaving their garage doors open. Intruders were entering through the open door into the house and assaulting them. If I do keep my garage door open, I deadbolt the door into the house.
Another topic: I have two pure breed cocker spaniels. Both rescues. Eight (yes 8,lol)years ago I wasn't looking for a dog for my brand new house with white carpet (haha), but she found us...she has been the sweetest thing. As the years went on and my kids went off to college, she started pouting...so I decided that she needed a buddy. I found a purebreed cocker, same age, fixed, I thought, oh, they are just going to love one another. HAHA. She HATES his guts. So now I have a dog that pouts upstairs and a dog that pouts downstairs.

Augggh! Ok weather channel, I understand more people live in NJ and NY and you're talking about what will happen. BUT sandy has devastated the Outer Banks of NC. We have flooding in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Poquoson, Hampton and the rural counties in Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck. High tide will be 9:30-10 am here, and many of the bridges may have to be closed. How about showing those Yankees what the storm has done already?

It reminds me of when the earthquake struck and the media called it the "New York" and "DC" earthquake. What?? While reporters were interviewing people on the street in New York about it, we here in Virginia were sitting on the epicenter. One of my friends lives practically on top of it. She was awakened by aftershocks for weeks.
I said to my husband last night that when a weather event affects the Northeast, the South is just an afterthought. I personally would like to know what's going on with my friends in the Williamsburg, Northern Neck, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach areas, but it's just not on the national news AT ALL.

I'm with Terri. This is something KATE attempted, and it had to have occurred after the family was released from their TLC contract.
This woman really has no shame! She expects those kids to pay for their raising and pay for her as well. What a disgrace. I hope she never gets another tv contract again and she has to actually support the kids herself...that would be a first.

You went outside to talk with them because you are a nice person, not a stupid one. I can tell from your post that you are thoughtful, kind and trusting. An excellent set of values... and a big dog owner. They will have marked your house as one not to bother.
Unfortunately, our instructor told us "nice" people are the most often victimized ones.
I posited with the class that maybe crime wasn't actually increasing, but that crime is more publicized nowadays and it just seems like there is more of it.
The instructor looked at me with his cop eyes, waited a bit for emphasis then quietly said "oh, you'll be an excellent victim". I really didn't like him, but after some time I grudgingly admitted to DH that he might have been right.

Once that door of knowledge is opened there is no turning back through it. I am currently trying to marry two things: being prepared, well trained and knowing the laws as they apply to me and my gun, and keeping a Pollyanna life view. I am hoping there is some kind of meeting in the middle that is possible.

I am an animal lover...I have two dogs, two black brother cats that are never allowed outside, and two feral cats that live on my front porch. (I've had the female spayed but still need to catch the male, her son.)

I've been busy and haven't posted (but have been following) in a couple days. Wanted to check in and say that DH and I are hunkered down in the middle of Sandy and we're ok so far.
3 very wet, smelly dogs!

Just googled "Kim Kardashian" and "Playboy" and, apparently she did posed for the russian Playboy. And, -it's foggy in my memory-, but I do seem to remember something about Kate trying to contact the Kardashian mother (Kris Jenner?), seeking her advice on how to peddle your reality show.
BTW that is adopt, not rescue. The term rescue is used to make the people feel noble, but that's not what they are doing, unless they are snatching it out of traffic or something.

Since my dog was three days away from being euthanized, I did rescue him. Also, there's nothing I have ever wanted to do with him I couldn't do because he's just a mix. He hikes, fetches, does tricks, hangs out at the beach, protects the family, makes cute faces and does funny things, and loves us in the most deep, unadulterated way I've ever experienced.
I think Mady took one for the team and offered to stay with Kate while the rest are with Jon. LOL
Also regarding how to tell the kids about the storm, I'm guessing, the kids were the ones to actually tell Kate about the storm since she's so darn uninformed.

so glad you were not harmed that day!! We are all too trusting, especially in our own homes. I keep my house locked up 24/7, I have a relative a few blocks from me that refuses to lock the house..this person will take a bath with the front and back door unlocked. There's been a few times I have gone to this person's house to do some chores, walked in, realized they were in the tub,did my chores, and LEFT...only later did they realize I was in the house. STUPID STUPID. This person thinks it's hilarious.
I also realize that a lock only keeps an honest person out, but it's still foolish to keep your house unlocked.
As old as my kids are now, if someone knocks on the door and they don't recognize the car in the driveway, they are not allowed to open the door. (and one of those kids is 23!)
Again, so glad you weren't harmed that day.

THAT is a complete load of bull. The ONLY american venue that has restrictions on mixes in competion is AKC, and even they now allow them in obedience, rally, and agility. Even before they opened up to mixes a couple years ago if you had an apparently purebred you could register them on a restricted level and show in anything but breed. If you have a dog of unknown heritage, you can compete in the follow organizations/venues. Many of them also accept blind, deaf, and/or 3-legged dogs.
Obedience: AKC, ASCA, UKC, CDSP, C-Wags
Rally: AKC, ASCA, UKC, APDT, C-Wags, Cyber Rally, CARO, Rally-FrEe
Freestyle: CFF, WCFO,
Agility: AKC, ASCA, UKC, C-Wags, NADAC, USADA, Wag-it, cyber agility, TDAA
Tracking: ASCA
Herding: AKC, ASCA, AHBA, and a couple small local ones

I've actually trained, competed and/or titled (up to around 70 now with another couple dozen in the works) in all but a couple of the above with apparently purebred (2), known purebred (1), and mixes (2). I'm sure I missed a couple as well - it's Monday, my coffee is weak, and I'm tired from a long dog sport weekend. :-)
I encourage everyone to get involved in doing something with their dogs, whether it's a formal activity or not. It builds the bond between human and dog, gives the dog structure and rules so they'll be a better companion, and gives the dog an appropriate outlet for their brains. :-)

Border Collie, with respect, that is completely inaccurate. If you want to "do" fun things with your dog a purebred is not necessary. You can certainly train and have fun locally with a mix. Just look for a local Dog Training school and ask about competetions and classes. Things like Obedience, Agility, Rally-O and even free-style are great fun and a wonderful bonding experience with your dog. There are plenty of state and regional fun meets for mixed breeds and non-AKC eligible pooches.
Not everyone wants and/or needs to compete at AKC level with a pure bred animal. Also, since 2009 even the AKC has had the Canine Partner program for mixes. You can compete in AKC Rally-O, Agility, Obedience and Coursing with your talented mutt if you want an AKC title.
I rather agree with you about the overuse of rescue versus adopt, but you could have put it a little less unkindly. I frequently gently correct people who ask about my retired racing greyhounds -- who were adopted not rescued, are non-AKC-eligible "purebred" dogs, and have a great time coming in last, or nearly last, in our silly little local Agility competions. BTW, we also Therapy Dog volunteer, and that is certainly DOING something, isn't it?

I'd like to clarify why I have two pure breed cocker spaniels...the first found US, we weren't looking for a dog. She walked up to my hubby at work, she was half starved and covered with fleas. He called me, the kids and I went and got her and brought her home. If she had been anything else we still would have brought her home.
The second dog I found on craigslist, he had been on there for over a month. He has multiple health issues, thyroid, allergies, skin issues, etc, I just thought getting a dog the same breed and age would be good for the first dog as a companion. He is the most expensive free dog I've ever had. LOL.
Once these dogs are gone, (sniff), if I ever get another dog I would go to a shelter.
I know Robert reads here and I'm going to try to be as respectful as possible here. I hate the way he "teases" in his blog posts.
If you have information about Shoka, then say it. Don't tease it. If you have information about the Kardashians filming the kids or whatever, then say it, don't hint it.

And FYI BC - I put 40 titles in 5 sports (with Qs / training in 2 more) on my australian shepherd rescue dog who WAS NOT GUARANTEED PUREBRED. She WAS a rescue. I adopted her from a rescue organization. She was a stray that had been shuffled from home to home to home to home when I got her. Best dog EVER. Earned national rankings in several sports, High in Trials in multiple sports / venues, first aussie to earn several titles, etc. She'd have had more titles but had health issues (epileptic, spondylosis, unilaterally deaf) and was saddled with a newbie handler that had never trained a dog before.
I am all for responsible breeding because we do need to maintain breeds. I even owned a purebred aussie of excellent working lines until she died unexpectedly at 8 last month. :-( But do NOT slam those who have chosen to live (and possibly compete) with those of uncertain parentage.

Some of you might remember how last August DS and I found a little boxer running alongside the road in a storm. She was being fostered nearby for a boxer rescue and she had gotten away that afternoon. We decided to adopt her.
She is approx. 1 1/2 years old and was from an Amish puppymill, from which she was shunned for not producing enough milk for her puppies.
We've had her almost 3 months and it's been an extreme challenge, potty training wise. She used to live in a cage, she had no concept of going outside. We have a doggie door that leads to a fenced yard, but she cannot make the connection yet to just walk out when she needs to go. We have baby gates all over the downstairs and the boys need to keep their bedroom doors shut because she'll sneak in there if given the chance. She has ruined 3 doggie beds and the area rug in my dining room. Add to this that while she loves DH and I, she is scared to death of my sons. She literally does the Scooby Doo Shuffle to get away from them as fast as possible. We are assuming that it was young men who "took care" of her at the puppy mill and she has very bad memories. She has no vocal cords as they were severed. We pray that this was done at the veterinarian, because the farmers also do it (even though they are no longer supposed to) and it's a barbaric and cruel procedure.
As I'm cleaning up every pile and puddle, I chuckle to myself about how everyone's encouraged to adopt a rescue dog. And I absolutely think it's a wonderful thing, all of our dogs have been from rescues. But so many of them come with baggage, phobias and habits that are very hard to train them out of. I knew exactly what I was signing up for, but alot of people don't. I have the patience of a saint, but when she paces the backyard for 15 minutes then runs in and poops & pees on her bed, I want to curl up in a ball and cry. I shudder to think about how many of these already troubled dogs are abused even further.
Rescuing is not for everyone and many have stringent rules which prevent people from adopting, like in NJGal's case she has a pool. An animal living in a home where it is loved and well taken care of, is more important than how it got there.

Steve is in the path of the storm. There's a state of emergency declared there as well. Look north, look south, look west...where would she go? She'd have to drive all the way to Ohio to get out of this one. They're predicting two feet or more of snow in the mountains west and south of her.
Kate thrives on this attention. She doesn't care how ridiculous and stupid she sounds. The drama queen will write a script how she braved 200 mph winds, no power for three weeks, walked 10 miles for gas for the generator and had then had to paddle a canoe through the streets to get to it. She still managed to bake 70 loaves of bread for 35 homeless families who stayed at her house during the storm.
And the sheeple will believe it. Milo will write a letter to the President asking for a special hero awards dinner to be held at The White House in Kate's honor.

Aggiemom you do NOT have to apologize for owning a purebred. There is NOTHING wrong with buying one from a responsible breeder. There is nothing wrong with adopting one through a rescue group. I hate the mentality that all breeding is wrong, because if PETA and HSUS get their way, all companion animals will be eradicated. Many breeds are still used in a functional way - aussies, BC, and ACD are used on ranches and farms, service dog groups breed their own, people hunt, and so on. Also while rescues can be wonderful dogs (and are my prefered source for my companions) you also usually have uknowns. There is NOTHING WRONG with buying a responsibly bred dog so you have a higher chance of knowing temperament, health, size, etc. And there is NOTHING WRONG with responsible breeding.

I have read about the severing of vocal cords of dogs. It's atrocious and indeed barbaric. I think I heard of it re: Amish puppy mills. You have been so patient and loving with your poor traumatized dog and I hope time does heal...have you tried a 'potty patch'? It's a thing that supposed to look like grass, easily cleaned, and can be used inside or out. Maybe you could put in near her favorite spot to 'go' or by her bed?

We took our first dog to the vet soon after getting her, but she was already pregnant (she was only 1 yr old). After the puppies were born we had her fixed.
On the subject of Kate going to Steve's, I think she'd do better with Steve IN a storm versus her being home with the kids. She needs someone to be in charge over her. If she's at home with the kids, can you imagine the stress? I bet if they are with her, THEY are keeping her calm, not the other way around.
I thought about the chickens, too, hope she made their living quarters safe.

We're Bulldog Peeps too, as well as Boxer and a 17 year old (no kidding) half miniature poodle/ half border collie dog who is the Queen here and has been since day one. She rocks our world. I open that back gate and she takes off in these huge runs that arc around the back yard. I will not allow anyone to make me feel bad about responsibly owning a pure bred dog. Our Boxer and Bulldog both were neutered as puppies and Super Girl was spayed as soon as we found her on the beach. I personally don't trust pitbulls. I was attacked by one and have the scars up and down both arms to prove it. My old vet (passed a couple years ago at age 80) said it was the only breed of dog he refused to work on. He said it was too difficult to get them out of the "red zone" once their mind went there. My daughter loves pits and lived with people who do rescue and saw how sweet their dogs were. It's just mind block thing with me and pitbulls.
Onto Grifty. I hate to say this, but if someone did come to her "rescue" with a generator, I wish they hadn't. How many here believe she would have sold (or lent) a spare generator to a neighbor in need? I know she wouldn't have. The greedy witch would have sat and watched neighbors without lights our minimal power for days and not said a word. I believe she needs to learn her lesson the hard way someday, without the kids there of course. She has no sense of community, it's all about her and her imagined sense of self value and entitlement. That's another reason why she's such a lousy nurse. The good thing is I believe she's too lazy to ever return to the field so score one for the patients!

I have to agree, Admin. Mr. Hoffman's posts are beginning to read like Kate's twitter. It's starting to become tedious and I think that his being coy negates the severity of the abuse these children have suffered/are possibly still suffering.
Furthermore, I am less likely to purchase the book at all if, by the time its re-released, I've already gotten tired of being teased by speculative innuendo.
While I wholeheartedly support Mr. Hoffman in his efforts to out the "Momster" that is Kate Gosselin, I'm certainly not interested in being played.
And since the book has already been published and is now being edited, does this most recent revelation have anything to do with the book?

With regard to burglars casing out your home. I don't think I have to worry about one coming near our house. When we're outside, our german shepard is out there with us. If you come near our driveway, he'll run to the end of it barking his head off. However, if someone is casing it and sees that the dog goes with us in the car when we go out, that is a different story. The burglar could have at it then. We have been in our house 29 years and there has never even been an attempted break in. We've been lucky.

I can definitely see the Kardashians financing this project. They stick their fingers in a lot of pies. And they would be one of the few investors who would have no problem exploiting the kids and wouldn't care about the controversy. It's just a few mil to them to give it a go and see if it works, chump change.

Kate Gosselin may have seen her career in television go down the drain, at least temporarily, but she's not losing all hope that she will continue to make a living off it. She's reached out to Kris Jenner for advice on how to make her kids into reality stars.
The report comes in the latest print of the National Enquirer (story via here), so you should know it must be taken with a grain of salt.
Admittedly, Kate is so desperate to get back on TV she's literally reached out to Kris Jenner, the mother and manager of the Kardashian girls, asking for tips on how she too can turn her children into milk cows.
In doing so, the Gosselins would become the “next Hollywood dynasty,” says the report.
An unnamed inside source dishes the dirt: “Kate has reached out to Kris hoping she’ll mentor her on how to turn the Gosselin kids into a money-making machine.”
It would seem Mrs. Gosselin has even come up with a good name for her clan. “Kate wants her family to be Kardashian 2.0!…,” says the source.
Until she comes up with a good strategy to make her children's career happen, Kate is making sure she does everything in her power to open new doors for them, by having them take singing and acting classes.
“Kate got Kris’ e-mail address and sent her a gushing note about how much she admires Kris for turning her family into international superstars,” says the spy.
“Kate ended the note by saying, ‘I hope you can teach me some of your magic tricks.’ Kate is praying this new friendship will lead to a meeting with executives at the E! network, where the Kardashian TV empire is based,” the insider further dishes.

If I know some information that I want to share I say it and say it in a clear manner. If there is information I don't want to share I don't say it. But the in between drives me crazy.
If he knows something is going on about filming, then what is the big deal about just saying so? Certainly he hasn't been afraid in his book to say exactly what he knows, so that can't be it.

~~~ Re the discussion about purebreds/rescues/adoption. I have had purebreds, but I have never bought a dog from a pet store. And the one we just lost, yes we did indeed literally pick her up out of traffic off Broadway avenue.
Border Collie, we may just be having a language barrier across the pond. I assume you are in the UK, since you referred to "me mum". :-) Over here most shelters only keep dogs for 3-10 days and then they are euthanized. So when we adopt from a shelter like that, we call it a rescue. If we adopt from a neighbor's litter, or from one of the rare shelters that does NOT euthanize, we often call that 'adoption'. Same thing (you bring home a homeless dog), just different nuances.
And yes, if an owner wants to show a dog in a breed specific coursing, agility, or performance based activity, often times for showing and prize purposes, the dog must be purebred to qualify for competition. But here in the US there are many opportunities for skills showing for mixed breeds too. And lots of places you can take any dog for agility coursing, or other activities just for the fun of it all. Absolutely not breed specific.
But if showing is your thing (my DD shows her Basenjis in lure coursing) then purebreds offer you the most opportunity for your sport.

I am the last person to ever defend Kate but she was in the greenroom at BRAVO and that's the show that was on. Yes, she could have requested a channel change but she probably was very nervous and had other things (book) on her mind.

I purchased Robert's first edition. I will buy a revised and updated version. I admire the years of effort he invested in trying to help the Gosselin children and to "out" Kate.
But, I still don't understand his bait and tease approach. He has a blog site -- he could use it to both generate interest in his book and provide valuable updated information.
My opinion -- he dilutes his effect by playing a game with Kate and his followers.
KK can talk to the Kardashians all she wants, but a fat lot of good it would do her without Jon's approval. No matter what KK managed to scrape together, she can't put the children on film anywhere unless Jon agrees.....and I just can't see him allowing it.
Just a note in passing....lots of people seem testy today!!
I think his baiting and teasing shows how green he is to blogging and publishing. It is a cheap trick to drum up interest perhaps he saw other amateurs doing. I don't think it is necessarily intentional. I think he just doesn't know how else to go about it. More respected blogs and writers say what they mean.
I'll tell him how you go about it: say what you mean or don't say anything at all. It's pretty simple.

Sadly I wish Jon had veto power but that's not how it works. Jon could hate it and protest as much as he wants. All Kate has to do is go to the judge and overrule him. Jon is again out a bunch of attorneys fees, money, etc only to lose again. And if all she wants to do is film a little pilot with the kids making a little cameo when they haven't filmed in 12 months, as long as THEIR part is safe and wholesome, their money is protected, they are getting their education, I hate to say it but I can't see any judge finding that unreasonable.
I think any filming of these kids PERIOD should be off limits after what they've been through but I highly, highly doubt a judge would see it that way. Judges, most of them, don't see themselves on the bench to dictate what would be the best possible course of action the best possible parent would take. That's just not the standard, for better or worse. It can be very frustrating when you, as a parent, do hat the best possible decisions made for your kids, not just "good enough" ones.
As far as I can see, the articles about Kate and Kris came out in November 2011. It's actually old news. This was before Jon got 50% custody and may have been what precipitated the change.
One article stated that Kate had enrolled all the kids in singing and dance lessons, and was planning to move them to California.
My guess is that Jon heard about it and put a stop to it through the courts. As far as I know, with joint custody, both parents have to agree on moving the kids away from either parent. Am I right, Admin?
Projects can be in development for years. They may have been talking as far back as years ago only to have it suddenly come to fruition now.
As for moving, no a judge is very unlikely to let these kids move so far from Jon. That's one thing Kate probably couldn't get to fly.

Can someone please tell me what this means? We've got a pool with a cover and we get monsoons during the summer and if the pool looks like it's getting too full we backwash.....but switcharoo? WTF is that?
I didn't mean to stir things up with my comments about my bully vs rescue. We would never buy from a pet store as those poor things normally come from puppy mills. Reputable breeders don't sell to pet stores. When we got him we had to tell the breeder if we were going to use him for stud. We said no and our AKC registration indicates that. If we had decided to use him for stud we would have had to contact the breeder to have it changed otherwise the litter could not be registered on his side. We have had people ask because he is a red brindle with a very large, broad chest and square head and a whopping 78 pounds of pure bully muscle. He's also a very pampered baby and I don't believe Kate for a minute when she says Shoka is inside with them getting spoiled.
The pool boys and mower girls and not-a-nannies have been hard at work all last night building a hurricane shelter for y'all.

I read her tweet to mean everyone will take showers and then fold laundry while watching about the weather on TV while they wait for electricity to go out. I don't see anything that implies she's leaving the house. In fact she's tweeted that she's been making soups they can reheat on stove.
Formerly Duped - thanks for your concern but although born and raised on the Jersey shore I'm currently in AZ (military wife). My family back there are currently fine and I expect my brother to be posting pictures any time now. He's a photographer and does a lot of beach/ocean pictures.
We're already having some flooding here and the really heavy rain hasn't even happened yet....the Brandywine Creek and Christina River. That darn weather channel keeps making that loud honking noise for the flooding and it's getting the dog rattled.
Now I'm worried we might get blocked in not only by falling trees but also by flooding.

I believe Robert was talking about the gal from New Zealand or Australia who had a talk show/reality. Then for some reason came to the U.S. They met when Kate was in LA. It is out there somewhere.
Remember RH still has 90% left of his info from the journals. I would think that if true that Kate and Kris or (Kim) have something cooking Kris Jenner( Kardashian) would already have put it out there.
Kris Jenner is money,power hungry and might not want to team up with Kate. The only thing Kate has to offer is that she did have high ratings ( for cable) at one time!
One of my kids was telling me that Kris's Jenner wants to sign up Matt Kemp(Dodger) because she wants to manage guys in sports!
BTW, I saw Khloe Kardashian at the gym Sat. She is smaller and thinner then on TV. So far I have seen almost all of the Kardashians except Kim, Bruce and Rob.
None of them use bodyguards! Oh, and Patrick Neil Harris was also at the gym.
I live in a part of LA where there are many stars all over the place and I can tell you Kate would be a nobody here! Nobody cares!

If it's what we do, I think she means she has an electric pump on her pool cover to get rid of rain water that tends to collect in certain places. It puddles in spots, and you have to move the pump around to the deepest puddles. It's no biggie. I do it all the time.
Bizarre weather so far. It rains as hard as it can, winds pick up and howl (lights flicker) then it drizzles and it's totally calm with nothing blowing anywhere. Eerie silence. They are saying that tonight through tomorrow morning will be the worst, with the storm going right over Lancaster County at 8 a.m. tomorrow. Weatherman says wet snow tomorrow. That's all we need to bring down more power lines.

On what basis have you ascertained Robert Hoffman's level of intelligence? It certainly can't be based on his writing ability. He may be quite intelligent; I have no idea since I don't know the man. However, spending hours on end standing in front of someone's home and collecting their trash doesn't take intelligence.
Hi Aggiemom, I have not heard from my friends in Norfolk today. Virginia PenMom, thr rain in northern neck, middle peninsula had been torrential, there is flooding. I can't reach my friends up there by phone, assuming it is a mess there. If you have friends in Williamsburg, they will probably see flooding by the river and marshes.
Aggiemom, just heard from a friend in Norfolk, they are ok, their neighborhood usually doesn't flood. She told me lots of areas in Virginia Beach are flooded. Norfolk friend had no problems with power going out.

Robert Hoffman knows more about those children then we will ever know. With his latest post my
memory was jolted like a bolt of lightening. I don't recall anyone talking about one of the first times they were at the beach in NC. KK had all the children rub each other with chocolate pudding while they were in their bathing suits next to the swimming pool. Does anyone else remember this? Kate made the statement this was her way of letting the children get dirty. I got sick to my stomach and didn't watch the show much after that.
I thought WTF is she playing too the pedo crowd?
I also wonder who's idea this really was. Just my 2 cents.

I do believe the picture was taken before the weather turned harsh. But I don't believe "pre-Sandy" means anytime in the recent past.
My guess for the "new" reality show...Celebrity Wife Swap. She "turned her kids over for filming"...hmmmmm
Anytime you have a pack of dogs (that is more than one dog) you have the opportunity for a fight to break out. Even if those dogs have lived peacefully for a number of years. This is true with ANY breed of dog, or mutts.
Dogs are just that...dogs. Humans do not communicate like dogs (even though we like to think we understand them and anthropomorphize them) there are MANY levels of dog communication going on that we do not even see when there is more than one dog in a certain radius.
I have toy dogs, Papillons, as I have mentioned before. I don't keep multiple bitches because the last thing you want is a bitch fight with Papillons. They will literally fight to the death, if you can't intervene in time.
My own pack, I have had a younger dog for seemingly no reason attack my poor, toothless 15 year old dog that was ASLEEP at the time. My old guy just curled up in a ball and didn't even try to fight back and we had to beat the younger dog off him. My old guy ended up in the ICU for a couple days, had a drain in his neck and one under his front leg and was just generally a mess. So for 2 years, I had to keep them completely separated because I was not going to take the chance that the younger dog was going to attack him again.
I've got breeder friends that can tell you stories that will curl your hair about Papillons, because they are still DOGS at the end of the day. It doesn't make them bad. It makes them dogs.
My younger dog that did the attacking was a rescue and he's got issues. My old guy was also a rescue. I know plenty of people that have done everything right and had a dog with a wild hair that went off the rails, though.
My personal "dislike" dog is the Chow. I do not even know why. I figure something must have happened when I was a kid and I just don't remember it. I don't think that means all chows are bad. They are just not a breed I want around ME, personally.
I have a Papillon breeder friend that just fostered 2 pit bull puppies and let them run loose with her Papillons until they got so big that they could hurt the Papillons due to the size difference and the puppy energy/exuberance. They were adorable and very sweet. They went to approved homes after they were spayed/neutered.

I just took a look at that pic and all the metadata has been erased according to the programs and the online reader I ran it through. Doesn't necessarily mean anything, but who takes the time to erase their metadata before uploading photos unless you are purposely trying to hide the data?
