Costume Party winners announced: Aggiemom and FotK!

Thank you everyone for coming to the costume party. The two winners that were drawn this evening are:

Comment 99 from Aggiemom:
"I think I'll be a lunchbox with a day old sandwich in it.
or maybe a grape..."

You're cute as a button, Aggie!

And the second winner is FotK, who brought organic slop dip to the party, which no one ate, though that doesn't disqualify her from the prize.

Comment 117 from FotK ...
Why is no one eating the slop - er, um - organic dip I brought? Honestly. I mean, to be honest. It is NOT mediocre. There's lots and lots and lots of cheese and organic canned black beans in it. And guacamole. It's supposed to be served with those 503 loaves of bread I baked in my 2 Cuisinart breadmakers

Mmm, cheesey and bready.

Please e-mail admin@realitytvkids.com with the e-mail address you wish to use to collect your prize--a $25 Kindle or Amazon gift card, your choice!

Off topic but do any Pioneer Woman fans know if she has ever responded to her snark?

I wonder if she stomps her foot and calls it bullying and retweets platitudes all day long building herself up, or if she acts like the mature adult that she is, takes it in stride, uses it to keep her grounded, and gets a good laugh out of it now and again.
******************

I used to follow Pioneer Woman in her earlier blogging years but became a bit disillusioned awhile back and don't follow much anymore. She's never addressed any "snark" except indirectly a few times. Negative comments on her blog aren't posted and generally any blog entries that she has made which have invited criticism are often removed, edited, or credit suddenly given (ex: when it's pointed out somewhere that a recipe or idea was taken from someone or somewhere else). It is her blog, though, and she makes the rules with her staff. I suspect that she got into a bit of a huff and a little defensive early on when these things were pointed out to her - sometimes she became a little defiant in her entries without being specific, but as a regular follower you knew what she was talking about - but as she became more well-known the PR people have stepped in and it appears to be handled quickly on that end.

That being said, I enjoyed her clear writing talent and style and her love for her family is very obvious. She also has a self-deprecating and humorous way of looking at herself and some of her faults which resonates with many women... something Kate has never been able to portray ever, which of course is partly why people can't stand her.

This is Liz's full tweet, which you can see if you scroll over the picture of Jon. It was tweeted on Saturday, Oct. 25.

"We've got this rare still and silent night together. No footsteps nor electric. Hot Tea and candles and a new plan for tomorrow.
No better way to end the night then w a seriously competitive game of Mall Maddness."

That's all she said, and she doesn't even say where they were. They could have been at her house for all we know.

I had a few minutes this morning and I browsed through a few z-list (lesser known than Kate) east coast based, reality celeb's twitter accounts to see how they were doing. Every single one of their accounts is FULL of hurricane relief links, info, and referrals and it slams home once again how Kate has WASTED another great opportunity to help so many people in need of so much.

While she sits on her leather couch, being bitter & vindictive about her ex, eating her bowl of ice cream and tweeting disgusting slams about the father of her children, people are still without the basics, freezing, in the dark, and with no food.

It would take her mere seconds to tweet about hurricane relief. She has her iPhone in her hand 24/7 anyway. She has over 120,000 followers she could be reaching and helping make a difference, yet she thinks retweeting about the Red Cross only twice is enough. There is no hope for this woman. I don't know why I waste any time being frustrated by her; I know she'll never change. She's not worthy of me wasting an ounce of energy hoping she'll ever do something charitable.

------------------

Why wouldn't she tweet and keep tweeting to these 120,000 followers that if they would each give five dollars, the amount for relief would be substantial? She should encourage this. Let's see how much is raised. If the followers are so devoted to her, they'd donate. However, if they are mostly bought followers, she'd have egg on her face. Could it be that she knows these are all fake, that there are only six die-hards left, and therefore it really isn't worth her time and effort to ask them to give to relief efforts?

She can't promote anything because she lives in her own little world. Those in NY and NJ don't need her platitudes..."GM everyone! Remember to focus on the GOOD things in your life today in order to help you get through the 'not so good' things..it helps!;)"

Focusing in GOOD things isn't going to help the victims. Come on, Kate, get off your duff and tell your sheeple to donate whatever they can.

Hug your children just a little tighter and really stop to appreciate your time with them. I hesitated about posting this, its personal, but decided to share.
A friend of dd was killed in a car accident last week and she came home from college for funeral. The minister asked some of the girls friends to come and usher at the service, and dd thought it was an honor. The girl who died was still in high school, and it was a car accident, the other driver was at fault. So this tragedy and the deaths from Hurricane Sandy have me thinking about mortality, and how the universe seems so random, and why one person dies and another in a similar situation might live. And I hug my dda little closer andtell her how much I love her and how proud I am of her.
Dd was coming home yesterday anyway to do her absentee voting, her first time to vote! She had me take a photo when she was putting the ballot in the box, she was so happy and proud!

************************************************

JoyinVirginia, I'm so sorry about your daughter's young friend. A very sad & tragic loss for her family & friends.

Absolutely horrible.

A few random thoughts here. Didn't KK admit once that Jon never wanted to do the show? It was either in an interview or one of her books. Sorry, I don't have time to look it up, but I'm sure one of the smart, resourceful ladies here will be able to find it if I'm not imagining that statement.

The worst dogbite I ever saw was from a chihuahua. A neighbor's child sat down on the couch at her Aunt's house. The Aunt's chihuahua jumped up on the couch and attacked her. She had 125 stitches in her face. Fortunately, no permanent damage and minimal scarring.

If anyone is looking for a good cozy mystery to read, I just finished one I can highly recommend. It's "Foul Play At the Fair" by Shelley Freydont. It's the first book of a new series. I'm also psyched because one of my very favorite authors, Marcia Muller, has a new book coming out on 11/6. If you like long series with interesting characters and lots of substance, her Sharon McCone books are wonderful. She's in somewhat the same category as Sue Grafton, but, IMO, far better. Kinsey Milhone is sort of a one-note character, where McCone has grown and evolved over the course of the series.

I agree rainbows.
It's so simple and takes so little time or energy and could make such a difference, yet she does nothing. I don't get it; is she too self-centered or stupid or lazy? I'm baffled at the many opportunities she's had to GIVE of herself (it would take so little of her and could make such a difference - yet, nada).

Nearly 70,000 Berks County utility customers were out of power Tuesday morning as the storm pulled away. As of late Saturday there were about 1,500 Met-Ed customers still awaiting restoration of service. A statement on the utility's website indicated that everyone affected by the storm in Berks should have power back early this week.

*******************************

Several people from my church are still without power. From what I understand, Met Ed fixed the biggest clusters without power first. The folks I spoke to this morning are out in the "boonies".

Our power came back on after about 15 hours. Others were not quite so lucky.

I remember hearing her say (verbally) in a televised interview sometime during the last year or so, "Jon always wanted to quit". Don't recall who was interviewing her - was before Katie Couric for sure.

rainbowsandunicorns said...

I don't think that Kate knows how really devastating the storm was. She's lives in Kate's World, and that doesn't include anything or anyone else. Someone should send her links to the slideshows of before and after photos published on various internet sites. The magnitude of the damage is incredible. You just can't imagine how areas can be wiped off the map...just like that. These are real people, real lives, real tragedies.

Would she care? Who knows...but at least her eyes would be open. I honestly think she doesn't really know.

Pioneer woman's twitter is full of calls to donate even picking her two favorite charities. And she lives in Oklahoma where they really weren't affected.

The thing is even if its not sincere, even if you don't give a rip, at least do it for your imagine. Let's face it a lot of celebs are pretty self centered, that's how they got to be celebs, but they have enough sense to care about their image and what's appropriate in a crisis.

I thought Kate was all about supporting the Red Cross.

Oh. Only if she's paid to pose under a blanket, implying nudity? Only if she's treated to first class transportation to and from, first class hotel, and a free dinner? And opportunities to be photographed with rich people? Another opportunity to be given a free new designer dress, and get her hair/make-up done again?

Then she's interested in supporting the Red Cross.
Otherwise, not so much.

Can you see Kate getting down and dirty, helping some poor soul clean up the rubble of their home?
I can't even see her giving blood.

Berks resident -- I have a combination of inflammatory and degenerative arthritis in my knee. So far, I've been able to manage it with heat packs, anti-inflammatories and Tylenol. One of the most important things to remember is to keep it mobile. Change positions frequently and don't over-use it. If it hurts, stop doing whatever. Walking is good. Running is bad. Stairs are questionable.

I meant to say earlier -- The only people Jon needs to be accountable to are his children. The rest of us don't count.

IDModo -- I don't care much for Paretsky. Love Evanovich. Haven't read much Lescroart but what I've read I've liked. What did you think of the movie based on "One For the Money"?

Just Me I guess Jon has shared his bills with you? Gimme a break. Even if true why is that Kate's right to talk about it with 100,000 followers? That is the point. The sheeple would be outraged if Jon started diaussing her bills and you know it. No one has a right to reveal someone else's electric bill.

carezee said...

Okay I really could just scream! I am so sick of these people showing up here and claiming things are fact. Of course only bad things involving Jon are fact. The FACT that Kate is a child and animal abuser and a parent alientor doesn't seem to matter to these people. The fact that Kate even made the whole power or no power at Jon's a public issue is just disgusting. She needs to keep her mouth closed about his business. she is hurting her children. What happens when they go to school and kids have heard about that? Especially when they find out it was their mother spreading the story. She and her sheeple are constantly trying to deflect anything that might tarnish her image and throw everything on Jon. I don't know how he ever stayed sane with an evil wife like that.

Paula said...

You all get this latest sheeple nonsense don't you? There is at least one sheeple that supports CPS visits to Sandy victims without electricity. So, in their crazy minds, Jon "had his electricity cutoff", so therefore he is not a fit parent. Sad thing, Kate went along with this.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Carazee and they miss the point. The point is not who paid what bill or who is or isn't a deadbeat. The point is Kate parental alienates Jon in a vile and dispicable manner. Who paid or didn't pay what bill is completely utterly irrelevant. But they don't get it.

And where is your link? Proof? Source that is NOT Kate Gosselin? Copy of termination letter from electric company? Kate lies so much she even lied about baking bread for her garbage men and Shoka eating it. Kate is not a credible source.

The fans used to be quite big on saying "until it comes straight from Kate, it is considered gossip or a lie." So... until Jon says it himself that his power outage is a billing issue or a copy of a termination letter is posted, his power is off due to hurricane Sandy. Period. End of story. Go away. Adios. Shoo. Be gone. Sayanara. Buh Bye.

Yes, sheeple, the point is that Kate did not need to share Jon's business with the general public. No one's business why his power was shut off or even to know that his power was shut off. I would be willing to bet Just Me that the jack-o-lanterns on your porch have more teeth than you do so I wouldn't be casting stones on anyone if I were you. You, who supports a child abuser and animal abuser.

Hi ladies!
I've been a bit afraid to bring up anything personal but I'm at the end of my mental rope. So damn depressed and just can't shake it. Not going anywhere, not seeing anybody ( except my wonderful hubby and my boys still living at home ). So many issues, so many prescribed meds, so many doctors...not so much helping.
Anyways, the real reason I'm bringing it up here is cuz I like you guys, you are all so smart, so caring and so so funny! Seriously, it's sometimes the only place that makes me giggle. Thanks for that.
I stepped on the scale yesterday and near had a heart attack!! Gained almost 7 pounds in ONE week! I know a lot of my total weight gain ( 30+lbs now +7 more!) in just over 3 years is due to meds and my 'condition'

LBelle said...

Continued...sorry, guess I can't go back and add to a post or it will freeze on me...

I know I was 128lbs when my oldest son got married in June, 2009 and now I'm up to 156!!!!

I'm wondering if anybody here wants to start, on a separate thread or something...if admin allows...a sort of diet support group? What helps, what doesn't, healthy recipes, weekly progress...that kind of thing? If not, does anybody know of a good online group that does this kind of thing?
Maybe some of you might want to 'drop a dress size' by the time Christmas and New Years parties start up? Winter beach vacation to feel great in a bathing suit?

Sorry if this is wildy inappropriate ...I just really needed somewhere to vent about all of this and, even though I rarely post, you guys are 'my girls' on my blog ( that's how I describe it to my hubby!)
I don't know how to email people from the blog or I would have sent one to Admin before posting this.

Thanks for taking the time to read. Let me know if anybody is interested or has other info for me. I'm beyond desperate lately.

carezee said...

I wish I had some magical cure to pass on to you but I don't. I know how you feel and if it's ever happened to you don't you just love it when people say just snap out of it? If that were possible would have done it long ago!

I'm working on my own reward program just to get myself out of bed. One example, I don't allow myself to read here unless I get one task done, even if it's a small one. It's not much but at least I can say I accomplished something in the day and that does help a little bit.

What makes a person be this nasty to another person? There are actions that people take that often shock the he## out of me, but threats like this don't come from anyone who has any ounce of dignity within themselves or compassion for others.

I think that Kate and the kids are secondary in this war between the fans and non-fans. It's now a matter of doing battle with the opposition...for what reason, I don't know. Nobody is ever going to win.

Milo tweeted -
@xxxx...ur the victim of foolish internet gossip. Not true. I know it for a fact! :) Shoka is fine!

Word games. Even if she does know, she doesn't say he's still at Kate's. He could be fine with another family.

And as far as Liz tweeting about no electric the difference is it's her right to tweet about her electric, not Kate's.

If you believe that I would assume this is also true:

It is Kate's right to tweet pics of her kids not Liz's.

You don't want to admit that Jon is the one without the electric..so be it.

I totally agree. Without a doubt. Kate doesn't worry about anyone but Kate, and her hair, her fish in paper meals, her nails, her tanning, her pool and her leather sofa, and what vacation and freebies she can grift. That's been quite clear in the SuperFunSandy tweet and her "we're having fun with Sandy" tweet. It's all about Kate, and she's made that quite clear. Why should anyone expect her to worry about anyone else, and that includes those who have suffered tragically in the storm? If she did, she'd be on twitter encouraging donations. She's not. She's tweeting platitudes.

LBelle, I too suffer from clinical depression. I take daily meds (so lucky the first one i tried works great for me). For a while I saw a therapist weekly. Just to talk, gain perspective. It really helped. I also have a thyroid condition, which either exacerbates the depression or caused the depression in the first place.
First things first, go to your doctor and talk to him/her. There are some things, like hypothyroidism that can lead to depression. Have your Vitamin D levels checked too, especially if you live up north. Try to find a medication that works for you. Sometimes it takes a lot of trial and error, but don't give up. You don't necessarily have to take it for a lifetime. See if you can invest in a light box or try to get outside in the sunlight for at least fifteen minutes a day. Walking is a great way to do this and get the benefits of exercise.
When you are overwhelmed with everything realize you are NOT ALONE!!! You may be lonely but you are NOT ALONE! They are different things. (You are never alone because this blog and its wonderful posters are always here) Then just take the day one minute at a time. When you get through that minute try to get through the next ten minutes, when you can do that get through the next hour. Pretty soon you will have made it through the day and tomorrow begins anew. Set small achievable goals. If you have trouble getting out to run miles and miles for exercise, break it down. Tomorrow, just walk to the end of the driveway. The day after walk ten steps beyond the end of the driveway. After each goal met, add just a little more for the next day. If you don't reach your goal on that day, just try again the next. Just remember keep it small and attainable until it becomes habit. Remember to reward yourself when you reach your goals. Nothing big, for example when I went back to college (at 25) if I did all my homework and went to all my classes that Friday on my way home I rewarded myself with a lemonade and a pretzel from Auntie Anne's (the pretzel place, not the blogger)
Try to take the doldrums as an opportunity to re-evaluate your life and adjust your "attitude of gratitude." For instance, I get really really down and unmotivated on gray days so I try not to wallow and find something in my life I am grateful for. Sometimes it's really heavy like my kids, sometimes it's as simple as a piece of dark chocolate. But each time it does improve my mood a bit.
Hope this helps and hang in there. It does and WILL get better.

They are doing so much hands on work to help others.

What's Kate doing? She re-tweeted the number to text donations to the Red Cross. Then it was back to shopping and watching movies with the twins and driving her uber fans into a frenzy against Jon. How is it possible for her sheeple to worship this woman?

It was people like "us" that asked QN what they were thinking giving their product to a milionare who could well afford to buy her own TP rather than to a shelter or some other deserving place. As I recall QN put out a statement distancing themselves from KG. And by "us" I don't mean just the people on this blog, I mean the hundreds who posted to QN on FB. People see Kate for what she is, a grifter who feels she should get a free ride because she is K8 mother of 8.

I've also noticed that since she was canned from CC that she isn't putting @whateverproductshewants on all her tweets. I guess since she doesn't have the CC audience any more @Keurig, coffee_mate, etc aren't giving her the free product.

I love yoga but have to modify how I do poses and keep my legs straight when everyone else is doing lotus or Childs pose. I sit on a bench when gardening, no kneeling on my knees anymore. I take glucosamine and condroitin and a multivitamin. The glucoside my doctor said it helps some people, and it won't hurt, so try it.

So are gas stoves. Yet, I could use my stove to cook on by using a match to light the burners. My gas water heater is not connected to any electric line. The only thing electric about it is that if the pilot goes out, you press a button that creates a spark to reignite it. It is totally independent of your electric service. The pilot itself is run on gas.

JoyinVirginia said...

Kate is a twit, I agree with you. Eleven days ELEVEN DAYS! we were without power after Hurricane Isabel. Our gas water heater did not miss a beat, we have a community well and that pump had power. Oh, and if my pilot light on the gas water heater goes out, I have to relight it with a match. And that is a fact.

I bet the homeless shelter had their electric on. Call any CPS about a home not having utilities on and they will tell you it is cause for removal.

It is unsafe and unsanitary to be in a home without electric.

Again, I ask, Admin, how many judges do you know would allow custody in a house without utilities?

librarylady said...

FYI, in the interest of informing those who don't have gas and getting misinformation

- whether or not your appliances are affected when the power goes out depends on the type of igniter in the appliance. Many people have gas or propane water heaters which do not have electric igniters, same with stoves and refrigerators, etc. When the power goes out, the gas is still supplied to the appliance and can be lit with a match if the pilot light goes out. Happens all the time around here. The Amish use propane appliances. Works the same for campers.

It's zero business of mine about anyone else's bills. But I did want to clear up misconceptions about the gas thing - it can be confusing.

But, you certainly don't know anything about rural homes that do not survive in an "all electric" mode. There are many comforts that we sustain even when the power is off. Other posters are doing a fine job of trying to explain that to you.

I do know a wonderful mom who struggles with the situation of her ex -- the father of her 8-year-old daughter. He is currently "homeless" and moves from shelter to shelter. At one time he had only supervised visitation, but he improved his life enough to have two weekends a month. On those weekends, she rents an inexpensive room at a hotel close to her home. Dad and daughter check-in. She contributes money for fast food, too. She is on a tight budget herself, but she believes that her child needs to see her father in a safe environment.

Yeah, ask Kate if she would consider such a kindness?

I don't see him so much passive as someone who doesn't like to fight over every little thing like Kate does. I believe he wanted to spare his kids seeing that day in and day out. So he changed his mind and briefly commented or opened his Twitter, so line him up and shoot him. Seriously, I don't understand the hate for him. If I had lived with someone like Kate I think I would have jumped off the nearest bridge. He has been amazingly quiet most of the time. I just don't blame him for occasionally coming out to defend himself. He has been forced to kowtow to TLC and been trashed viciously on most of the media sites while Kate went around touting how wonderful she is and how horrible Jon is. I am firmly Team Jon and I hope he eventually gets full custody, the kids deserve at least one loving parent!

********

Reposted with a YES! and an AMEN! and a THANK
YOU! from Fidosmommy.

Jon makes mistakes OCCASIONALLY. Just like the rest of us. Sometimes he knows it's a goof up, sometimes he doesn't. Just like the rest of us.
Kate on the other hand seems to live off goof ups. It's her "normal" setting, and she does not CARE who gets hurt by it, least of all her children.

Jon is everyman. Kate is her own universe.

Kate hasn't posted sins this morning. Just me has just said it's her last post. It will be interesting to see if Kate's begins to post again right about now. Just me are you Kate and will the kids be home soon? If you are Kate it is disgusting that you'd be on a blog posting about Jon's situation. Can Jon sue?

CoCo was twiting from here condo soaking wet and taking pictures of it all. Why is it so wrong because Kate did. Weather you like Kate or not she takes care of her children, she was the smarter of the two parents as Jon spent his sleeping with everybody including the kids babysitter, even in their own home. He was throwing money around the world partying. Then just recently said he had such a dilemma, pay child support or rent, but if he didn't pay rent then he would loose his place which he needed to have the kids over but Kate early in the year had stopped the child support. Only thing he had to pay was what the court said he owed previously. So why not talk about that, she is supporting the kids without money from Jon, I travel for weeks at a time as a RN was I a bad mom because I left my kids, are the parents bad that let there children be on soap operas or weekly tv shows. People need to grow up, they are bullies, we need to stop all bullying and hate and we would all be in a better place.

When I was 13 I would cut out quotes that really spoke to me and pasted them in a notebook. When I was 13.

I used to tape them to my closet door. The REALLY good ones went on my dresser mirror. Did that till I was nearly 16. All of a sudden one day it looked silly and I took them all down and was amazed at how uncluttered everything looked.

I have ONE hanging in my house now: Having somewhere to go is home. Having someone to love is family. Having both is a blessing.

Oh and at my desk at work I used to have a sign with a circle in the middle of it with a caption that said "Bang head here." But Kate with all these "How to fake happyhappyhappy today" sayings seems so childish, like so much that she does. Pick one or two, Kate, as your mantra (look it up) but dont expect anyone to believe that you live by 20 flowery sayings a week.

PatK - I'm raising my hand. I've had enough of just me and company and don't know why we continue to engage them. Wasn't Kate without power last year during the Halloween snowstorm? Kate is a douche for tweeting that he had to settle with the electric company in the first place. Jon can pay the bill and get caught up but Kate will always be a douche.
====

lol! This is true.

And if we keep kicking the sheeple around we'll be accused of cruelty to animals. It's just that it's so ...well...easy to do.

I want to say this to Double Standard, Just Me, the 'sweet old lady' and the rest of the flock and then I'll put the sheeple chow back in the shed;

Sheeple you are Kate's problem. If you like her so much, encourage her to get help for her mental illness. Jon got help. He admitted he hurt his children by selling them out to TLC. He's been trying to fix that. If Kate was doing that she'd get the same change of attitude towards her as Jon has received by many of us here.

But she's not doing that because she's not right in the head. She's cruel to kids and animals and other living beings. She's greedy and selfish and has no intention of changing her ways. She hurts people. She uses everyone to get what she needs out of them and then kicks them aside and moves on to her next victim. She'll do it to her own children some day too. That's wrong and you sheeple support that kind of behavior.

Now please go away. Go back to your own pasture if you still have one and stay there until Kate does/says something stupid ...which should be in about an hour. Then you can shower her with praise again instead of doing the right thing which is to beg her to get professional treatment - and that doesn't mean in a hair salon.

It will give you something to do today besides bother everyone on this blog.

That means you too "sweet old lady".

re: the 2 pictures Liz posted.

Here's a whacky thought. Maybe the kids LIKE being treated like normal kids and having pictures taken of them as individuals vs a set/pack/group.

Maybe the kids don't have any problem with their dad and Liz posting a couple of blurry, not even full frontal face shots of them just like all their friends parents do because it's NORMAL.

These photos aren't like the ones Kate takes of them. They are not photo ops that are all set up. They are just normal family candids.

The kids are old enough and smart enough to tell the difference.

Aside from the fact that this was written by a near-illiterate, this is such typical sheeple thinking. It really does sum up their deficiency in logic, the inability to see the whole picture.

This thing with the electric bill is unsettling to me. No one lives their life thinking "well, winter is coming, think I'll hire a limo to go out of state for a hair job and let my electricity be shut off instead". It's upsetting and humiliating and mediocre people put their bills first and do without frills.

Would any single sheeplepigeon get on Twitter or Facebook or whatever and announce "ATTN: I see Mrs Mary Jones across the street from me is without power till she settles with the electric company." ?? Why is it ok for Kate to announce this about Mady's and Hannah's daddy? Would it be ok for Mady to text message a classmate and say "my mom just got a letter from a bill collector" ?? Would it be OK for Jon to tweet "Kate wont be getting her hair done in NY anymore till she settles with the salon"?? This is no one's business, how dare she get on the g%d damn internet and announce someone's financial concerns. Jon isnt the one living off his children's money, SHE IS.

How about Jon getting on the internet and announcing how much of the children's money she is drawing on every month.

And about the pics of the kids with a pit bull: If it would have been a poodle, there still would have been outrage. It had nothing to do with the dog, it had to do with petty jealous female sheeple royally pissed off at the evidence that KATE'S children are around JON'S GIRLFRIEND. If Steve The PurseBoy had tweeted a pic of one of the kids with Shoka, it would have been all fine and dandy.
To the sheeple it has nothing to do with the dog breed or the children's privacy. It was all. about. the. girlfriend. near. the. kids.

Just me is BEYOND WRONG about parent s needing electricity or kids will get taken away- The Amish was a great example, but not only that, there are (and I hate to say I even know about it) people who are SOOO cheap, they refuse to run electricity, the light candles, they have hearths, and they wear those headbands w/flashlights on them that cavers wear. They aren't even close to losing their kids. Plus, I think someone else mentioned, many people choose to live off the grid and live life the old fashioned way; I saw examples of multiple families living in the mountains like this- no electricity, they hunt for meat and grow their veggies, they use the pelts from their game for clothing- I mean truly back-in-the-day wilderness style and guess what? They still have their kids!! Just me- now you have been proven wrong, AGAIN, so just STOP.

Lbelle, what a dear you are to reach out and ask for advice. Unfortunatly I have little to offer. Someday I will tell you a little bit about what I went through last winter, and how a poster from this blog kept me company in emails through the whole thing. I'll have to ask her permission to use her blog-name.

I found that Vitamin D supplements helped me, alone with a fish oil supplement too. And I KNOW how hard it is to leave the house, but try to force yourself. Every day. Do you have a back yard? Can you just get out there and walk across your yard once a day? Please - let's promise each other we will step out of the house every day for 10 minutes, no matter what.

Open ALL your drapes and blinds. In the evening, turn on the lights. Forget energy management! Get brighter bulbs and run them. Put music on, play it louder than you would usually. Leave the TV off during hours when you might usually have it on. Do you knit, crochet, sew, cross stitch? Can you sign up somewhere for 4 hours a week of volunteer work? - OK maybe that comes later, after you get more accustomed to stepping out of the house every day.

All of this sounds too simple, I know. But it's a combination of things till you find somethings that work, and then in a month you have to switch it up again.

I for one would love to hear how you are doing. I am with you in spirit.

Where I live in Canada, everybody has a secondary source of heating - we can't survive in the winter if the power goes out. I have a gas-run fireplace and hot water heater. When the power (the electricity) goes out the gas fireplace just keeps on heating and the gas water heater keeps on heating the water. Wouldn't do us much good if you needed electricity to run them. The worst thing that could happen is if the water pipes burst - so we have to keep the house warm enough in the winter to avoid that. Just the facts as we live them.

I've never gotten credit on my account when we're out of power, but then again, I never thought to ask! We pay for the electric we use. If we don't have electric, we don't pay. I don't think there's any compensation if we are inconvenienced because of a power outage, but I really don't know. If there's a monetary loss from spoiled food in refrigerators/freezers, doesn't homeowners insurance cover that, depending on the terms of the policy?

-------------------

I think that applies to PGW customers only - if the person living there is over 65 or under 12. However, I do know that shut-off can be delayed if a note is received from a physician or nurse practitioner that states that turning off service will harm the ill person.

At one time they couldn't shut off power in the winter months, but I think that changed with the passing of the Utility Customer Protection Act. It can now be shut off at any time, but not without notice, and there are payment plans available and energy assistance programs in PA. I've worked with social service agencies for those who need help with paying bills, clothing, food and shelter.

Even if documentation comes from a physician that the person needs electricity to survive they may still shut it off:

YORK COUNTY, Pa. —

An elderly York County woman is struggling after having her power shut off.

She can't pay her bill, but needs an oxygen machine to survive.

Her electric company said it's more complicated.

Life with COPD has been painful for 72-year-old Sarah Waye.

"I've worked since I was 16 years old and I've never been in this kind of shape," Waye said.

After struggling to pay her power bill for about a year, Met-Ed shut down her electricity on Tuesday.

The oxygen machine she uses to live no longer works.

She's been donated oxygen tanks, but only a few days' worth.

Met-Ed officials said the power company does not comment on individual customers, but said turning off power is a last resort.

"We will only terminate customers who chronically consistently do not pay their bills," said First Energy Corp. spokesperson Scott Surgeoner.

Parents who are outright homeless; in shelters; living in re-entry housing; living in group homes; folks who attend partial hospitalization (day treatment) for mental illness; the courts now bend over backwards to accomodate these parents with as much custody time as possible. The Hollywood scenes of a social worker going to the father's home to ascertain it's fitness for the children is merely a studio fabrication. OK, I just went to the garage and looked at my gas water heater. Nope, not plugged in so I guess I don't need electricity to keep it running should the power go out. Yes, my gas stove does have spark ignition but I can bypass that and turn on the gas and light it with a match.

I have a sign in my kitchen that says "a house is not a home without a bulldog". I've also got a lovely Hebrew saying on a gold necklace that my son gave me. It says "God could not be everywhere so he created mothers". It written in Hebrew characters so it's not like I'm wearing a huge #1 mom necklace (not that there's anything wrong with that). We're not Jewish but he saw it, liked it and bought it for me. I wonder if any of Kate's will ever give her anything like that.

I would like to reiterate that the Just me that is currently posting under that name is not the ORIGINAL Just me that has posted since not too long after the blog started.

I am the original Just me and I changed to this name to avoid confusion with the enabler that commandeered my name.

Gas hot water heaters are lighted by electric igniters

**********

So are gas stoves. Yet, I could use my stove to cook on by using a match to light the burners. My gas water heater is not connected to any electric line. The only thing electric about it is that if the pilot goes out, you press a button that creates a spark to reignite it. It is totally independent of your electric service. The pilot itself is run on gas.

@@@@@@@@

That is exactly how my stove and hot water tank are.

Remona Blue - I don't think 2RNs meant any harm. I think that the poster was just mixed up as to who posted asking questions. It does get a little muddled here sometimes.

Kate's agenda is really simple, it has to be, considering her intelligence level. The agenda reads like this:

1. I must try to stay relevant no matter what.

2. I'll lie, cheat and steal to maintain my lifestyle.

3. I want those kids working or staying with Jon.

4. I will use the few sheeple I have because I need the
constant fawning over my awesomeness and various gifts they
send.

5. I will delete my Twitter and the sheeple when
I make it in showbiz, until then they should defend me no matter what.

Sadly, if any sheeple reads this they'll deny that Kate uses them and
gloss over the fact that they defend the indefensible.

Another point for consideration re: Kate's tweet
"Kate Gosselin‏@Kateplusmy8
@xxx just sent my littles 2 a friend of their dads w him...."
Kate should also not be twittering that John and "his littles" are not at his home. That leaves John's home vulnerable to break-ins and puts the kids at risk.

I don't know why it bothers some people to know that Jon has 50/50 custody. Isn't that best for the children? They love both parents. I don't get why some people think Jon shouldn't have his kids. A father is very important. Can someone, Just Me, please clue me in?

Berks resident -- I have a combination of inflammatory and degenerative arthritis in my knee. So far, I've been able to manage it with heat packs, anti-inflammatories and Tylenol. One of the most important things to remember is to keep it mobile. Change positions frequently and don't over-use it. If it hurts, stop doing whatever. Walking is good. Running is bad. Stairs are questionable.
***********
Thank you, Readerlady. I have a part-time job in retail which requires a good deal of standing, and I'm sure that is not helping my situation. I've been recommended a series of injections into my knee (not cortisone, the thickened liquid that cushions the joint) but it was very scary to me. I appreciate your sharing your treatment options!

I know this is OT, and yes it is "humble brag", but I just wanted to let you all know that my daughter completed her "Boston/NYC" marathon run today! She made up her own bib that said "NYC detour". I am one proud mama today!!

Congrats to a fine young woman for putting brain, heart, and elbow grease into doing something positive! She sounds like a chippette off the ole' blockette!

I mentioned McMaster because it's in Hamilton.
That poster was talking about parking problems in Hamilton.

Berk's resident - arthritis in one knee has progressed to bone on bone and I get an annual dose (3 injections) of synvisc (artificial
synovial fluid). Prior to this, I was getting cortisone injections, first about once per year, that progressed to every 6 months over
time. They helped immensely.
**********************************

Oh Witch, thank you so much for answering. Mine is bone on bone too but just the medial side. I was offered the Synvisc too and that's why I initially posted...I am very nervous about having this procedure done. #1 because a needle in the knee is SCARY to me! and #2 I have read about it helping some and not so much for others.

I have quite a large co-payment for this procedure, and that is another reason why I was hesitant. But thank you, knowing this has helped you gives me some reassurance anyway!

You guys are the best ever!!!

Formerly Duped, do you mean U of Texas or U of Tennessee? If the former, great. If the latter, then you, your parents, your grandparents, your aunts and I are all rivals.
If you are a Tennessee Volunteer, I have to hate you. I'm a Kentucky Wildcat. Nothing orange is allowed in my house. ;-)

fidosmommy: I know where McMaster is, was just commenting OT.I guess it's irrelevant- but when you leave your country of birth any connection or mention is fun.

Since I've taken the time to write this, I might as well also fess up with the fact that, like Auntie Ann, I am blessed with powers. (We Canadians are like that...) If I'm in a car with somebody driving me in a busy downtown, we will find an extraordinary parking place right next to where we are going. So there. In a nutshell. My power over Kate. She has to park in the "Reserved for the handicap lane". Not me. Never.
====

White Organza - Haha! We northerners do have mystic powers. Kidding aside, I do that too. I never fail to get a parking spot where I need one. Is this a psychic thing or are there just a lot empty parking spaces in Canada? lol.

*******************

Oh, kwitchercrowin', the both of you. You two phone ahead for those magical parking spots, and if you dont share the phone number, I will use MY magical powers to make your alarm clocks ring an hour early tomorrow morning. ;-)
