Discovery pulls 'American Guns' from line-up
The Discovery Channel announced yesterday that they've cancelled their successful reality series about a Colorado family that restores firearms. They also won't be showing any reruns. Other shows have delayed or pulled episodes, including TLC's new special "Best Funeral Ever," which was pushed back to January. Actually growing a heart, or just concerned about bad PR? Sadly, probably the latter.

Love reading these answers. I chose that Milo actually loves Kate more because that is true obsession and infatuation, I believe Kate's act of over-confidence is to cover up self- hatred.
As far as that last question, I'm back and forth between Kevin and Jodi and Beth. They all loved the kids and were all kicked to the curb. As much as I like Kevin and Jodi , they behaved a bit hypocritically in my honest opinion. They didn't mind the reality show when they were on good terms with Kate , then suddenly they were publicly speaking out against it.
I agree with them entirely, and I believe they truly love the kids, I'm just not convinced their change of heart wasn't partially for revenge against Kate.
Beth supported the show as well but didn't then go and speak out against it after Kate dumped her. So I'm not sure.

Funny, it was my great uncle who let us know about the Red Cross, WWII vintage. The army, in its infinite wisdom, made my great uncle, a machinist by trade, a baker during WWII, stationed in Belgium. He was charged with making the doughnuts, with government supplies, and turning them over to the Red Cross, who handed them out with a "have a doughnut, soldier, courtesy of the Red Cross." Geez! They didn't even provide the flour! I betcha that coffee they charged a dime for was government issued, too!

To be honest, I am not pleasant when people are rude to posters who said nothing offensive to them. You made a generalization about is that we always make a big deal about everything.

I'm going to go ahead and trot this out-- Kate alluded to many things that made her very angry when she filmed Kate + 8. One was her fuming over the nerve of a therapist to ask to compensations for services rendered and another, more glaring example is Kate saying that people who see the kids 4 times a month should not have a say in how they are raised.
The latter was more venomous than the former, which really takes balls.

I don't have a twitter account, but as I understand it, you get a notification when someone follows you. Do you also get a notification when someone unfollows you?
If so, I can just imagine Kate seeing those notifications and saying "Huh?" and "I just don't get it".
She's probably searching for that tweet that guy sent to telling everyone to follow her to get her to 125000, so that she can retweet it. At the rate she's going, she may be under 124000 by the end of the day. She's lost over 30 followers in the last 2 hours.

here is one: dhs grandmother used to cook her ham with the ”no peek” method. You heat up the oven in the evening to like 400, put the ham in, leave the oven on for something like 30 min then turn it off and ”dont peek” until the morning. I think I still have that in a recipe file somewhere. I always keep my oven on when cooking a ham.

Speaking of slow-cooking ham. I was watching a "ham show" earlier, and it seems the secret to a really good baked ham is wrapping it in foil and doing the cloves thing for the first 30 minutes of baking. Then the foil is removed and the glaze is put on for the rest of the baking time, with basting frequently until it's done. I think I can handle that.
Auntie- no tiara, just behavior beyond reproach, acting and speaking with impeccable decorum and modesty. You must curtsy upon introduction to commoners, as well. You up for this lol?

Thank you so much Butterfly! Its awesome that you have had that training.
So last October, I went to a Piloxing certification workshop in Philly. Yes I spelled that right lol, it's a blend of Pilates, kickboxing, and dance. It's awesome :)
So I have the certification and have been in talks with the gym I attend, LA Fitness, about teaching a class. They said they would prefer if I were licensed in CPR, should anything tragic happen during a class. So that's what I'm looking into now :)
I'm hardly an expert, but the best tip I have, Butterfly, is to make it fun for yourself. There are so many areas of fitness and so many kinds of exercise: cardio, weight machines, etc. If the elliptical is not your thing, no point in putting yourself through that kind of workout. Maybe you prefer the treadmill or the bike. Or maybe the machines are not our thing at all, and our rather try group fitness classes (which I personally prefer).
Two great ones I recommend: Piloxing and Zumba. Both are challenging and fun at the same time.
So Butterfly, don't try to force yourself to like something, find what you do enjoy and make the most of it! I wish you the best of luck, please keep me posted :)

I love the gym, true gym rat here :) I havent really gotten into the classes so much, I'm a tad uncoordinated so I feel a bit embarrassed, lol, plus I have to work out as a group with my command, so I enjoy my alone time in the gym. I do envy the instructors, though, to lead a class is not the same as taking one! You motivation is awesome :)
Just think, you get paid to be fit- how cool is that?
Next week, after christmas I start spinning classes- nervous about that- I know it's going to be tough at first. :|

Butterfly, ahh got it. Your workouts must be super intense, I applaud you!
I've actually never done Spinning, but my friend is an instructor and says it's a great workout! Have fun and good luck :) And for what it's worth, I look at it like, everyone in a fitness class kind of has their own trademark to put on a workout and also everyone is so focused on keeping up that they tend not to notice other people anyway lol.

butterfly, spinning is awesome! Besides running (alone), it's my favorite thing. Sometimes I go to the studio alone with no class so I can cycle away with the music I like. I have a trainer for my road bike at home too. It's fun but you may be VERY sore 'down there' initially. Once you get past that, you most likely won't get sore at all anymore. It's very good training for road riding. I hope you enjoy it and if you do, clip-on cleats are a good investment - MUCH more power that way. I've had the same pair since 2000. Good luck!

I wonder if anyone has informed Cindy, the cruise's Trust Fund Baby, of this sweet person's internet activity and her downfall. Cindy did, after all, depend on this person who set herself up to be Kate's protector and guardian.
You just can't harass and stalk people and expect to get away with it. Oh, maybe you think you're above the law, but eventually you pay the piper when you hit on the wrong person.

I was thinking the very same thing about the cruise and the uber fans, one in particular, who was to be a passenger. There is something seriously wrong with some of these sheeple, and maybe it's a blessing that the cruise never happened. Of course, Kate may never admit it, but sometimes things really do happen for the best.

Sigh. I will take one for the team and quietly accept the blame for starting the whole shooting match. I will eat Dwindle's crock-pot cooking because it can't possibly be as bad as KK's.
However, I am unwilling to clean the chicken coop. I spent way too many of my formative years cleaning chicken coops, and slopping hogs, and milking cows, and doing chores that were not age-appropriate. Over the span of a few weeks, she used this blog to name me...hubby...six siblings and all our home addresses. She linked to my father's obituary. She published the name of my niece's blog and revealed some (accurate??) old farming income for hubby.
Enough private info? I never understood the significance or importance.

My question would be...why would anyone care? Why would she care? What purpose would it serve, and what would she plan to do with old farming income, or an address of your siblings? All of that internet sleuthing, such a waste of time, and for what? Just to show that she COULD do it? If so, it sounds like there were/are some real self esteem issues going on there if someone goes to those lengths just to prove that they can uncover information about a blogger.

This is what the defective detective has done. I'm sure I will miss plenty since stalking & harassing was her full-time job.
Her blog was only about outing people & embarrassing/harassing them. She'd find graves of loved ones & post the info. She accused a little girl of being involved in kiddie porn. She harassed Walt/Kelly & his entire family, posting huge pictures of him so the witches could attack him (he's actually attractive). She went after a mom on Twitter who was harmless, found her son who is bald due to an illness & harassed the teenage son. She found a blog someone linked about violent crimes against a girl & accused that person of being the girl who was brutally assaulted by an older cousin. The latest was harassing the mother of a possibly dying baby, living in the hospital awaiting a donor baby heart, telling her the grandmother is scum yet pretending to care about the baby. The young mother begged her to stop blogging about her sick baby, but of course that only encouraged CJ to write his name over & over. Finally the baby received a donor heart & of course this vile person credits her prayers. It doesn't get much sicker than that.
Shutting down her blog is a pittance of what's going to happen to that woman. By the way she's a sickly 51 year old with twin pre-schoolers & even young twins can't tear her away from her stalking activities. She admittedly didn't make Thanksgiving dinner. She chose to spend the day stalking people while her "tweenie" made a knock-off Thanksgiveing dinner.

Aggiemom -- It's not original. I picked it up from one of the crafty mystery series I read. It certainly is apt, though, LOL. I knit a lot while watching movies or TV, and sometimes wind up needing to do a lot of frogging ;-) .
I kept meaning to say something about the ARC. My Dad was a dedicated blood donor -- I don't know how many gallons he wound up donating -- at least 3, and probably more. However, when it came to cash donations, he refused to give a penny to them. He was stationed in the S. Pacific during WWII, and the fact that the ARC charged the GIs for their coffee and donuts really rankled. Also, he said they always talked a good game, but when it came to actually needing to get something done, the Salvation Army was the one to do it. They did everything the ARC claimed to do and didn't, from helping to arrange emergency leave to getting in touch with the families of wounded GIs. When my dad was severely wounded in action and evac-ed to Hawaii for treatment, it was the SA that got in touch with my grandparents and my mom (who was his fiancee at the time).
Should we also provide a summary of a non fan who was actually charged, finger printed, her mug shot taken and who has appeared in court over her blogging activities? Should we also tell the story of her cohort? Perhaps it is time
Admin as a lawyer you would think you would be concerned over stories of a police officer harassing someone without charging them?

I just want to throw this thought out there. While it's true this 'outing' blog is now closed, and while many of us have seen the disgusting posts made by that blog owner and her pals and have heard of the harm she's caused, we only have the word of an anonymous poster on another blog that the detective was shut down by authorities. It's totally within the realm of possibility that this did happen and I hope it's true and I hope that more legal action comes her way. But ... are we sure this is what went down? If someone has proof, I hope they'll share it or at least send it to Admin for verification.
When someone is this unstable, it's just a matter of time until the stalking begins again. Perhaps hidden a bit more but I don't think this person will give up so easy. She has a long history, is clearly quite ill and for whatever reason, it gave her something she needed and wanted.

I think that you're supposed to feel threatened if your real life information is revealed. The purpose of listing the names of siblings and so on, is supposed to let you know that you have no secrets from her. She has over and over and over called the work phones of people she is stalking, contacted their HR departments, sending repeated emails to the work place, and supposedly got a single mother fired.
She accused people of being pedophiles, falsely accused others of being arrested. She has gone to hometown newspapers, asking if anyone knows people, and on and on and on. Then there was her blog and her obsessive screen shots of endless conversations, in order to help attorneys and law enforcement (including Homeland Security and the FBI) with the charges she intended to file against the various people.
It just goes on and on and on...but to add to the insanity, she almost always stalked the wrong person.
Say she decided to stalk me...she would google Remona Blue, find one that lived in Fort Worth, and would go after that person, no matter how often that person and I told her that she was wrong. That is why RWA calls her ''the defective detective''.
I've barely scratched the surface of the chaos she has caused for years! If she came after me, it wouldn't bother me in the least, and she'd quickly discover that my friends and family are no more easily frightened than I am, and they all know every tiny thing about me.
But, I'm an ole lady...not a single mother with a child to protect. She hasn't called where I work, disrupting my work place, threatening my job. She hasn't accused me of being a pedophile, or any other vile thing...at least not yet!! If she did, I'd just call the police department in Allen, Texas, and we'd be off to the races!
Admin....I think that information was what you were asking for earlier. If it isn't, or is too much...please delete it.

Thanks for your response. Oh, my word! I had no idea! I knew some of what was going on, but didn't know it was that extensive. When the failed cruise happened and Cindy and this person were vetting potential passengers, I was curious about her. I remember reading somewhere that she was on the internet for a long time, bashing her own family members and disclosing the most personal information imaginable about her family and her husband.
However, I didn't know the extent of the stalking and harassment.
This person has young children, does she not? This would be (or should be) a great concern. I do worry when there are kids involved and a parent is this mentally unstable.
There is a level of mental illness there that is a real shame. Many of us said today our family and friends know all about our blogging and their reaction is indifferent at best. There's just this total lack of realization that no one cares, and that if anything, contact from some crazy just reflects poorly on the crazy, not on the target.
Let's assume a scenario where what someone crazy says about a person is true. Still, few people care what some crazy has to say as opposed to people who actually know, care or love the person. Most people leap to defend family and friends and would shut out what some crazy has to say.
I know I know it's caused destruction, but for most, people just don't care or even if they did, of course they aren't going to take some crazy's side in it.
My point being there is this undertone by people who enjoy outing others (and I don't believe there are very many who do this) that they are revealing this big important information that will turn your life upside down. And most of the time, it just doesn't and really leaves you scratching your head why they would think that. Wouldn't THEY tend to defend their own family and friends if someone were trying to out them? Of course.

I'm not so sure that this person cares that the person being stalked doesn't care. It's not about that. Psychologically, it's all about the stalker who has the power to intimidate. It is self-serving, a boost to a fragile ego and the person is trying to transcend his/her insecurity.
I think that's where the danger is. It's the need to wield power over the other person. If that doesn't work, the person carries it to the next level, which may be physical violence. It's the old "I will not be ignored" and they may go to extreme measures to show the other person that they mean business.
Wouldn't they typically give up on people though if they are not feeling they are receiving an imbalance of power out of it? That is one reason why I've been so insistent that we ignore them because it takes away that feeling of having power and control if there is no response from this end. We've had a FEW dust ups involving people here but you have to admit they really leave us alone overall. I think that's because we make it boring for them, we take the thrill away.

Admin, I agree. Most people simply don't care. However, we're talking about when someone is outed with the truth.
The dangerous side of this sort of stalking behavior is when they ''reveal'' lies. I think that most people would care if what was being ''revealed'' was some vile lie. Or caused someone to lose a much needed job. Or wouldn't leave your daughter alone while she was with her child at the hospital, waiting/hoping for a heart transplant. Or was some stranger, insisting you are someone you are not. That sort of behavior is illegal, and charges should be filed.
I see that the link for going silent takes you to a group with a particular gun control agenda, however, they let you do the moment of silence without it being political by removing the link in the code. I would be okay with doing it if this blog is not associated with directing people toward a particular political agenda. This blog does not take "positions" on things like this.

When you're dealing with someone who is mentally unstable, I don't think there is anything "typical" or generic about their behavior. One size doesn't fit all. They might get bored and walk away, but on the other hand, being ignored might set them off even more. Bottom line is that you just don't know because nothing is well-defined or predictable when it comes to someone who has mental health issues.

I agree. Any juicy truth about me would be........the truth. I suspect that those that only know me from what I've said on the blog might be surprised, but it would still be the truth. I do think that maybe some people are still threatened when their real names and addresses and even phone numbers are posted without their permission. I wouldn't be threatened, but maybe that is more my nature.
It pays to be cautious in this world. When out and about, I am always aware of who is around me...partly because I'm barely five tall, weigh 100 pounds and am clearly a little ole lady. That could make me appear vulnerable to anyone that wanted to harm me. I'm not a fearful person, but I'm also not a stupid person.
What I don't understand is the posting of real information then thinking you have some kind of control over the person. You really don't.

The stalker does have control over the other person simply because he/she COULD post the information. The other person may be taken completely by surprise or off-guard, and then, bam, there's information posted about him/her on the internet. That IS control because it was completely out of the hands of the person whose info you are posting. The other person has no idea what the stalker is going to do with that information, or what his next move is going to be. That's power because the stalker is controlling the situation.

It is interesting that Anonymous succeeded in sidetracking the blog discussion into a direction away from what we were discussing at the time, which was Working Woman's list of choices about KK. I think my instincts/suspicions about Anonymous were correct.

For what it's worth, I actually had the same problem loading the comments on RWA. It literally said "no comments." They are using bloggers newer comment system where you can reply to an individual comment and it creates sort of a "mini" thread. We are not using that system, ours is straight comments in a row. For whatever reason on an ipad or iphone the new system can be finicky or wont load. When I saw anonymous else fixed the version by clicking web version, I tried that and it worked, sure enough the comments loaded.
I resent that people are calling her the "defective detective" since that was actually a term used to describe Mr. Monk. She's an asshat pure and simple and whenever I read anything about her I always think "asshat" (or turd bucket).

This event has truly gutted me. I haven't been able to get the thought of those sweet babies out of my mind. It has really been an awful week and Christmas just doesn't seem 'right' to me this year. God bless them all and their loved ones. I will be joining in silent remembrance at 9:30. Rest in Peace, Angels!

Admin, quick question: although it is true that people should be able to post as they wish, the anonymous posts seem to cause some kind of conflict 8/10 times. Have you ever thought about temporarily disabling that option, just to see what happens?
The truth is, we are all anonymous. Just because I go by working woman, all that tells you about me is that I'm a woman who works lol, any other info you know about me has to be volunteered by me. So I feel like even if you pick a name, you are still anonymous, so there's no reason not to and I can see why it does look a bit fishy to others when a poster chooses not to.
So I know I am under anonymous now lol, I have to when I post on my iPhone. So if there was no anon option, I just wouldn't be able to post on my phone anymore.
Just merely a suggestion and if it would make anyone uncomfortable or unable to post at all, then obviously getting rid of that option is not the answer. Sometimes I just feel like it leads to conflict more often than not :/

It's a nice sediment, however, flags were to be flown half staff through sunset Dec. 18th, per President Obama's proclamation.
All flags should be at full staff today. If you fly the flag, you really should observe the rules, and there are many. Raising a flag should not be done unless and until you fly it right.
This is not to pick on Kate because I know she's just acting from her heart and it's her way of showing support and I now she is chronically unaware, but I'm pedantic about treating and displaying the flag with DH having served in the military.
Kate always gets things a bit mixed up, but whatever her motive, shallow or sincere, her children will realize the enormity of the tragedy and that their household showed honor for the children.That's a good thing.

It sure seems that way.
RWA has been claiming for years that legal action was being taken against CJ and the rest of the whack pack. Nothing ever happened so after a while no one believed them.
However, in the last year or two CJ has really stepped over the line. She mistakenly believed that stalking wasn't stalking if she used info available to the public on the internet to do it. That simply is not true. Just because someone has a Facebook page you can't use the info it contains to stalk and harass people. Even worse, because she is a terrible detective she was out-ing innocent people who had nothing to do with the Gosselin drama.
What was key here, was her ignoring the requests from people she targeted when they asked her repeatedly to stop. This is how she cooked her goose, combined with her public declaration that she would not stop until there was no more hate on Kate.
She is an ill woman, who seems to have many underlying problems and issues. I really hope that she wasn't fined or charged, but instead hopefully made to seek some treatment. A fine is not going to resolve why she is obsessed with forcing people to share and agree with her views. So much so that she blatently broke the law to do it.

It is wonderful that Kate is commemorating the victims of this tragedy and giving her children a chance to do the same. Good for her.
I have to wonder, though, why she has payed this so much attention and didn't have much of anything to say about hurricane Sandy, besides how it affected her home. Although that not a mass shooting, there, were almost 100 deaths, some of them children. People are impacted emotionally by different things, I totally get that, you just have to wonder why she had paid so much tribute to this and nothing to other tragedies.

Narcissists have a very difficult time relating to others therefore they often appear indifferent to other's suffering even huge tragedies. Maybe this one was easier for her to understand because her kids are relatively the same ages. I am glad this appears to have finally affected her like most tragedies on this level should affect normal people. Maybe when the next sad thing happens she will be able to recall her feelings about this one and relate again.

Working Woman unfortunately blogger doesn't allow you to ban anonymous posts without also banning the option to type in a name. This is dumb. We actually did try to disable the anonymous option once and the comments decreased by nearly half. It was cutting off way to many legitimate posters who would just prefer to type in their name instead of going blue/pink and signing in.
If people seriously want me to disable anonymous, everyone must go blue.
But on this thread alone it seems like so many of you are still typing in names. That's fine, but understand that's why I can't get rid of anonymous because it would get rid of you too.
With all of the really good stuff available on tv, movies, documentaries, holiday specials, etc., it is beyond pathetic that anyone would choose to spend 4 free days at this time of year watching a Gosselin marathon. And I won't even touch the idea of not watching tv, and doing anything else as mentioned above.
As for her organic ham, the one she plans to stew in a crockpot, well, as much as I love my crockpot, I cannot fathom doing that to an expensive (organic) ham. We, if we were making one, would heat it slowly since it is already cooked, and then crisp the glazed rind for more flavor. Bet her recipes web site could show her that one too.
Our local radio station had an article and some pix today. Seems the whackjobs from Westboro Baptist showed up to picket some of the funerals in Newtown. First responders from around the area formed a human wall to block them from view. Way to go, First Responders!

LBelle -- I know how you feel. I feel like I've been trying to walk under water the past week. It doesn't feel like Christmas. In some ways, it seems like that first Christmas after my dad died. I just want to crawl into bed and wake up when it's over. OTOH, I have so much to keep me busy that I can't do that.
Is that true that she isn't supposed to lower her own flag? At the courthouse ours is literally lowered every other week sometimes, like when an LAPD dies, a fireman dies, some judge dies. That is not president or government ordered. Or I doubt it is.

2. Anonymous insider stories should be emailed to us directly (in confidence). They will not be posted here unless we can verify the validity, such as with photos. This is not to discourage legitimate insiders from speaking out, but to guard against all the fake stories out there.
3. No insulting other posters or picking fights, refusing to let things go and move on. Stop with the snotty comments--they will be rejected. Treat people here like how you would talk to the person you most respect in your life, it's just pleasant that way.
