Lifetime is airing a New Year's Dance Moms marathon all day today, followed by the premiere of Season Three at 9 p.m. EST. Seasons One and Two can be found on Amazon, Netflix, and for a limited time all for free on Lifetime streaming (sweet!).
Dance Moms has been sashaying around for awhile now, but Season Three, which begins tonight, marks the first season that Lifetime's production, based largely in Pennsylvania (although the girls participate in a lot of out of state competitions), will have to comply with Rep. Murt's new child labor laws passed last year. After a brief waiting period, the law will take effect this month, and requires a set teacher on set and limits the hours the girls can work. Previously, one of the moms reported the show films for 70 hours a week.
Will we notice any changes, or will Lifetime still be able to churn out a great guilty pleasure even with safety protections in place? We're hoping the latter. Here's hoping this show can prove that schmalzy, addicting reality T.V. can still be accomplished without exploiting the living crap out of the children participating.

«Oldest ‹Older 601 – 800 of 1230 Newer› Newest»Very good points about the abortion issue. And she may have had one, but I respectfully do not believe it's true just because Robert said it.
Also, that's not the public's business. I understand his desire to get Kate's abusive behavior toward the kids out in the open, that I support wholeheartedly. But I'm just not sure what he was getting out of revealing that she had an abortion as a teenager. It's not the world's business to know that and I'm not sure what the point was.
I am a non fan who use to post at BM's dive until she kicked me out. I post somewhere else now but Milo is just another rabid fan. Nothing more. Nothing less. She goes way back before Twitter and she called herself Fired Up For Kate. She was good friends with BM at one time and they appeared to be internet friends off the blog. I think there were even some phone calls and pictures exchanged of kids.
I listened to her on the radio show twice and she sounds in her mid 40s. I think she is just enamored with Katie Kreider especially after she gave her a shout out on national TV.
I know people have a good time speculating about her. In reality she is just a over the top crazed fan. That is all.
I had 15 year old cousins who where in a nursing home from a genetic disease. Their Mom passed from the same disease. They died within 2 months of each other at the age of 16. My neighbor ended up in a nursing home age 22 from complications from child birth. She had a horrible stroke and became paralized (sp?) and lives there now. Nursing homes are skilled medical facilities where the person does not need a hospital but does need specialized care.
I think he was trying to make the point about selective reduction and how it was bogus she felt that way, but as we've discussed, it's kind of irrelevant whether you've had an abortion as to how you feel now. As others have said, many women who have had abortions are now staunchly pro life. Maybe a man doesn't understand that "inconsistency" as easily as a woman, just a hunch. Anyway, it really wasn't necessary information. In contrast, I do feel that the information about her mental illness was relevant, as it explains (not justifies, just explains) some of her bad behavior toward the children. There were some people here that thought that too wasn't necessary and we ended up a little split on that particular issue (we are not sheeple! :-)).
What's sad is Milo doesn't realize that by bringing up the abortion issue all over again it gets even more airtime. We barely discussed it since the info came out. Now here we are discussing it much more in depth. Milo strikes again.
Sorry, I meant that Milo offended Kate, not that she committed an offense that got her committed.
I don't think she is in a'care' facility either because she posts pictures of their property, her own feet walking said property, and dogs and they are very consistent. I sort of have my own'lights out man' who rises very early and tries to insist I hit the bed when he does, because he says I am noisy when getting ready for bed. It's probably more that the dog jumped on his head or ran over his nether regions in her excitement when I finally went up, but in any case, I try to be respectful and do as he asks to make his, and ultimately my, life better. Maybe Milo's husband just does that to get her off the computer.
It's curious, no matter what.
I agree with you totally and love that you speak your mind regardless of what others think. I too do not believe she had an abortion. I don't think Robert Hoffman got everything right. Most reporters don't.
I also agree that it is not the public's business and it crosses the line.

Robert's point was to show that Kate lied when she said she couldn't get pregnant.
I agree, it is no one's business if she did or didnt terminate a pregnancy, but it does clearly show the Sheeple's hypocritical views and that Kate can do no wrong in their eyes; even if she violates their deeply held moral beliefs.
I know people have a good time speculating about her. In reality she is just a over the top crazed fan. That is all.

Welcome!!!
Thanks for that, I think you may be right. I think a lot of the speculation is more fun than seriousness. indeed.
Yeah, I never would have known about the abortion thing if it weren't for Milo's comment!
I personally believe that Milo loves when people say negative things about Kate or when there are rumors about her out there, because that way she can swoop in and defend her. She is the one who often makes a big deal out of rumors or comments involving Kate that would normally just pass and soon be forgotten...
Didn't Kate move in with her boyfriend and his parents right after she graduated from high school?
______________
Adam Miller. He gave an interview somewhere...don't remember to which magazine, with photos. He was 17, she was 18, and according to him, she moved in with him when she went to nursing school.
Respect for WW, thank you for saying that.
Yeah, a lot of what is said on this blog I agree with and I truly respect everyone's opinion no matter what. But of course, every so often there is a matter that I feel differently about. I am fine with expressing that, but always try to do it respectfully and humbly. That's the way it should be done :-) The other posters are good about that too, many of us do not agree all the time, and that's normal!
I feel we all are good about hearing each other out and expressing our own opinions when they differ. No groupthink here!
One of the reasons I tend to believe the abortion thing (and I'm not going to say for sure, just tend to believe it) is because it's been alluded to for years by various people Kate has some kind of "painful" past. I guess it could just be her allegedly nasty dad but I always got the sense it went much deeper than just oh I have Daddy issues. Lots of people have Daddy issues, but IF Dad forcing her to get an abortion, and I have no idea if he did, I think that would have left lasting scars for anyone. Plus, she is quite obviously estranged from him and that stuff usually (although, it's Kate) doesn't happen just over a few Daddy issues. It was something big that caused that, typically.
Perhaps that is why she estranges so many people ever since, she finally felt empowered by estranging her father and felt addicted to that good feeling of cutting off anyone who upset her, it gives her control she did not have as a child. Very sad. She needs therapy. Kate? Please get therapy I beg of you, for the kids.
I think Working Woman is awesome and is total proof that "newbies" are perfectly capable of jumping right into the fray without problems, so so much for that complaint. Post away WW!

Thank you for that, Admin! Back at you, always love reading your thoughts and am truly grateful for this wonderful, witty, nonimploding (LOL) blog.
That's another case of Robert not fully understanding stuff women tend to have a better grasp of. Just because you get pregnant just like that at 16 doesn't mean various issues haven't morphed into issues that are suddenly problematic several years later.
My own opinion here, but I frankly I wouldn't mind if we didnt discuss Kate's maybe pregnancy termination. I know it plays into her being a liar and not the woman she portrays herself to be, but that is a private issue. Again, that is solely my opinion, and I know, I can scroll :)
I am having a great time reading the SW blog- that family (again, the parents) have some nerve! Oh, it's def a Kate in the making all over again.
The SW blog takes me back to the good ole days when the smoke screen was being swiffered away and we were reporting lie after lie after lie here and around the web. It felt good to expose the facade.
I'm just not in the mood to digest it all at the moment I feel like I'm "fake reality showed" out lol. But I'm sure I will eventually. Are there Sister Wives sheeple?
"Back in the day", young women in this predicament went away to an "aunt's" home for a visit of several months. In the 1970's there was a home for unwed mothers that my sorority sisters visited regularly to be big sisters to the girls. The girls were terrified, embarrassed, angry and sad. They were considered dirty girls and there was no excuse for their predicament. Thank goodness we have decided that the one thing an unwed mother is not is villan. She's a girl with a life-changing situation no matter how she chooses to handle it. She will never be the same girl again.
So far, and there are so many comments so it is taking me time, I have not seen a sheeple, but a few posters are Janelle fans- not sheeple- fans and they feel sorry for her. And yes, it is like the old days! Yeah, that show is so much like J&K+8, with all the lies and cover-ups and changes of stories....TLC got away with it again. I hope this show gets cancelled soon.

Exactly. Couldn't have the press get hold of selective reduction news. Look at the perfect matryr mother, carrying all those babies. Just think of the headlines. Yep and she got 'em. That girl had a Plan.
Dwindle, know your chili will come out great. Mine was odd tonight. The longer is simmered, the more grease I had to skim off the top. over and over. Drained the hamburger when I browned it, too. Go figure.
Remember the video of Kate that Jon took of her at Disney on their honeymoon? That happy carefree girl did exist but the life was strangled out of her by greed and selfishness and fame. That girl was alive and looked like she enjoyed life. But then again, was it just for the camera even then?
Janelle is the really pretty one right? That's the one I really like too. She is the mother of their oldest son what's his face, who I really, really liked. I think that says a lot about her. She is so patient with Mary's shenanigans and Robin's immaturity and the other one's frazzled depression, and always seemed to have something calm and rational to say about everything. I have no clue what she's doing in this family.

@Kateplusmy8 I just had my 3rd child. He will only sleep on my chest, not even a co sleeper. How did you get them to sleep in a bassinet?!
You've got to be kidding me. Good grief. Are these people serious, or do they just want a tweet from Kate?
Have not noticed too many SW sheeple at this point. I have read some "met them" reports and most people say really lovely things about the wives, and generally agree with the comments from Kody's former High School classmates.

But I have to be honest, she seems like the last person who would have been sexually active at that young of an age. Heck, I have a hard time seeing her as being interested in a sexual relationship with anyone now, at age 37. Even when she and Jon were married and they appeared to have a decent relationship, there never seemed to be anything passionate between them.
====
WW - Kate said on the 'how we got here' epi that she liked bad boys, whatever a 'bad boy' is in her bizarre world. They seemed to behave like most people do when they're dating and/or living together.
If you watch the video at about 3:45 you can see she was all over Jon. Another thing I just noticed now is that her voice went from almost normal to babyish when Jon said Yes Kate, look at the red light. She morphed into a childlike gooey mass of ... something beyond description. Weird.

I agree. I think she might bow out if she gets the opportunity. I wonder if Christine and her question what they've gotten themselves into and how tightly bound they are to a contract with TLC now. I see so many similarities to the Gosselin fiasco. I sort of watch the show through my fingers like I'm at a horror movie.

Admin I will absolutely pray for your friend and his family, that's such a shame. That's so young to have to go through something like that.
And I apologize, I truly didn't know that about nursing homes. I am sorry if that offended anyone who has young, ill loved ones who are staying in one. It's fortunate that those homes are there for people who need them, regardless of age.
You learn something new every day, I guess.
4444444444444
Most nursing homes have spiffy names too, nowdays, that tend to confuse folks. "Rehab Center" "Skilled Nursing Center" "Special Care Center" all of them are licensed the exact same way. As far as long term care goes, anyone who cannot physically provide their own basic care, or requires the attention of a NURSE for a medical procedure every day, pretty much qualifies for a nursing home. (Some loving families and mortified that when mom is wobbly on her feet or incontinent, she doesnt need a NURSE for that, that is not considered a skilled need... but I digress...)
Lots of folks of lots of ages live in care facilities with residents of all ages. Including some with secondary mental health issues.

I wasnt going to comment on the topic, because it is so private, but I do think I agree with you Butterfly. I myself have never had an abortion, but someone dear to me did in their teens. Even though she is a mom of 3 now and a grandmother, much of her opinions and feelings were altered by that event. She is not the same person she was back then.
It is insane for Milo to say "Kate would NEVER!" She doesnt know Kate now and didnt know Kate then. But it does interfer with her fantasy webisodes of Kate-The-Madonna.

It's funny she appears to see it that way. I think it makes Kate seem more human, more sympathetic, someone coming in with a real tragic history from childhood that explains a very messed up head. Personally I find it much easier to understand someone with a terrible childhood versus someone who has had a wonderful life and is mean and nasty ANYWAY. I sort of get Kate just a tiny, tiny bit in light of certain information from her past. Kate could fit right in with the, I had an abortion but it was so awful that I'm pro-life now crowd. They are a perfectly acceptable crowd to most people even very strict conservatives. Actually they love that kinda thing. Wake up Milo.

That pretty much sums up what I have been reading so far, plus many think she might have some depression or something going on, because she just 'zones out' during couch interviews, like she just isn't there w/the rest of them, and she only has a few pat answers to everything, IDK myself, just what the boards say. Oh yeah, they pointed out her emotional eating too, as a symptom. I am glad she is still working out at the gym, even if she doesnt lose weight, it'll be great for coping with stress.
I like her too, she has a blog on TLC, so I went over and read that, but who knows w/TLC who actually writes it. She is the only one with any financial sense, though, maybe Christine, but none of the rest.
Yep, if past history is indicative of current situation.... my gut says there is filming going on. Whether it be for a Tv series, a movie, a documentary, or advertising of some kind, something is feeding kate's supply, and what she likes best is when she is being catered to by a production company!
I wonder if the kate sighting in NC, in the jeep limo, someone is footing the bill. or that could have been something to divert attention, that has happened before. We have thot she was in one place when actually she was in another...
Her hash tag of irreplaceable memories tells me they are doing things she would never do with those kids herself, otherwise, why say irreplaceable? Visiting family isnt irreplaceable, you do it often...
Someone knows something. Question, because I dont know how to go back and find historical tweets, but when she went to that beach house, did she tweet anything at all ? I seem to recall the coffeemate picture?
She's up to something and as admin said...she's being a tease about it. She knows it gets us all talking...well me anyways....darn it I love a good cat n mouse game! I just wish it didnt involve the kids :(
Janelle was the one who always worked and always kind of kept things so organized and running, and if I recall she has the most kids, too.
She seems a little older than the rest of them, and way more mature. Nothing phases her. Maybe she zones out on the coach because that's how she just deals with all the crap around her, zoning out. It would drive me bonkers living with those other women except maybe Truly's mom, she's tolerable. I would flip a gasket over Mary with one child taking all the resources when I have 12 odd or whatever it is.
Hold the presses...this blog has been hijacked.

@kateplusmy8 Thanking God for how good you are with us! While one remains humble and true to God, You will bless us and opens doors for us!
What? Kate is blessing the sheeple?
Well this is nice. I like the sister wives comments better here than I do on th e siserwives blog.
I did mention the Alabama, beach, Milo as speculation a day or two ago here. It was speculation but seems to fit.
I don't know when Milo responded to the abortion thing on Twitter. It's true that it didn't need to be included in the book, but we didn't write it. I read the book and as I recall, without rereading right now, that it was meant to show that she could get pregnant.
She doesn't have to respond to any abortion questions. Don't blame her. It's an individual decision. I really don't like people who have one and then go pro-life and want to deny that for everyone else. One should make a decision and move on. No sense grieving a choice. I mean that in many other situations as well. No just abortion. You make a decision, do it, move on, and let others do the same. No I'm not a pro abortionist by any means.
And my last comment, good lord I'm glad someone mentioned that a 5 1/2 or 6 shoe equate to a 4 in a girl's shoe. Yipee! I often have a hard time finding comfortable shoes, and I'm going to try the girl's thing in a style or two. I don't ever even consider the high, high heels. My foot isn't long enough to wear them (be on tip toe and worse) and I'm clumsy anyway and would fall over. Unfortunately, tall shoes are not for short people. Terribly unfair, but there you go.
Goodness gracious, some of you ladies have teeny tiny feet! I think I wore a size 5 women's shoe in 2nd grade! I'm officially jellus.
Border Collie -- I so agree with you on the high heels. I'm a Klutz who trips over her own feet standing still. In heels, I'm a menace. Do try the girls department. Of course they don't have really dressy (adult type) styles, but for sneakers or basic flats, they're a real possibility. I always buy my winter boots in the kids department, too.
Dwindle -- Back in the 70's it wasn't that difficult to find narrow, small size shoes. I used to buy Naturalizer or Selby-Joyce shoes and could usually find something I liked that fit. Not all styles came in my size, but these days, many manufacturers don't even make 5 1/2 or 6, let alone a AAA in those sizes. Even sample shoes are size 7 now.
I agree with Admin and y'all about Working Woman. She just moved in and settled down like a long-time poster and has contributed a lot to the blog. It's nice to have a fresh point of view sometimes. We need a bit of spice. I think that's why we sometimes play with the sheeple instead of ignore, ignore, ignore or agree, agree, agree.

I don't believe I could parse that second sentence if my life depended on it. There are way too many subjects in there!
The abortion story was the only time I had empathy for Kate.
If Kate had an abortion as a teenager, then that is bombshell news. It implies that Kate may never have been infertile in the first place. Therefore her alleged "need" for fertility treatments to get pregnant is very suspect. And her conception of HOM's sounds truly orchestrated. It's so sick that it's hard to believe...until you see the way Kreider treats her own children. So yeah, an abortion in Kate's past is very pertinent to How She Fooled The World. It's sinister and crazy. That being said, it should be none of our business what Kate did as a teenager. But if you have more children than you have any business having, exploit them, and demand that others pay for their upbringing, people become very interested in your motives. It's baffling that anyone would orchestrate having all those children on purpose just for freebies and fame. Unfortunately, Kreider sure looks guilty of just that. Those poor children.

I agree.I think that's the main reason RH included it. Who cares otherwise what she did as a teenager,although I agree with AuntieAnn that Kate seems very asexual to me.
But now she is having 'nothing but fun!" Nice to enjoy the holidays (if that is what they are doing) but she's delusional in her manic pronouncements of 24/7 FUN all the time- except when she's complaining of her burdened life and exhausted-ishness.

If this is true, than Pa's new law protecting children while being filmed, is not doing anything at for for the Gosselin8. Kate just steps across the state line to film them, and that is that!
Stretch jeep - not KKs usual high class (think caddy) - so younger, more hip gig - commercial for exercise something on the beach sounds about right - new low for her

Very happy to see you posting again! Now we have to find LMG!????
After someone posted a YouTube link to some K+8 videos, I watched the RV trip last night. Holy God, what a cluster. Screaming, crying, kids hitting other kids, rudeness, entitlement issues on display, and not one real moment of fun or a memory worth keeping.
If somewhere right now that family is having "funfunfun" than either Kate has had therapy, a come-to-Jesus moment, or her brain has bee replaced by aliens.
Katie Cry-duh....42:
Exactly! there WAS a valid reason to include that juicy tidbit in the book. Didnt she ALSO claim that even when she was young, she had a 'feeling' she would not be able to conceive without help or something ridiculous like that? Who the hell 'thinks' that as a child??
Kreider is NUTS if she thinks anybody with half a brain ( that would exclude the stupid sheeple!) would actually fall for that BS!!!

Thank you so much Admin, this means a lot. I honestly consider it an honor to post with you remarkable, funny people. And respect is a given, a must, in order for any community to run smoothly, and everyone is deserving of that respect.
It is true that I have only been a regular poster for maybe a couple of months. Also, I do empathize with those who are apprehensive about posting at this well-esetablished blog. I read admin's recaps and lurked at this blog for at least a year before posting at all. I saw the other women's posts and thought, okay these women have covered just about everything I would think of to say, what could I even contribute?
But then I started to realize that, as a different human being, I could contribute something different. Even when we all agree, we all approach a topic with a different background, with different reasoning, etc. That's what makes this blog, and life in general, so fascinating.
So, anyone who is hesitant to post as a "newby", please don't be. The posters here, including myself, would truly love to hear what you have to say.
And thank you so much Dwindle, for your kind words. I always love reading what you have to say and you have made me laugh on many, many, many occassions.
Weren't you the one who had the winning Don't Watch Kate Plus 8 sign in that contest this blog had a couple of years ago? Hilarious and so creative!
Admin ~ I have a bad feeling about her Twitter silence/teasing, too. How timely (and distasteful), if she fled the state to do filming, now that the tighter restrictions are in place.
OT about nursing homes. My mother lived alone for a few years after my dad died. I would visit every week or two and help take care of errands and she was managing her own finances, but physically she slowly was decreasing function. She was able to stay at home longer with a cleaning lady every well and then another lady we hired who helped her with household things serval days a week.
Her physical condition worsened and she was unable to walk, and the cause was degenerative changes in the bones, so surgery would not help. It was her decision when she entered the nursing home, and she was able to get physical therapy while there which helped her get mobile again with assistive devices. Around that time she also started with mini strokes, which affected her cognitive function.
She has been i'm the same nursing home for years now. We know most everyone who works there! It is very nice and has a homey family feel. The children and relatives of residents are our own support group. My mother went thru a period last spring where she was not doing well and was enrolled in hospice services. Imagine my surprise when time came six months later to review her hospice eligibility, and she was reviewed and the hospice folks told me she was too well to qualify for hospice anymore!
Before she became so demented and frail, my mother would come visit me for a couple days every so often, she would go out to lunch with me and with other friends and relatives, the nursing home has fun day trips, things like that. And yes, this place accepts Medicaid, so when she had spent enough of her resources, she qualified for assistance. I know more than I want to about financial eligibility issues. She is on what is called a spend-down, do she pays about 80% of her care and Medicaid pays the rest.
I thought that was complicated, until I met a woman who is still trying to settle her fathers estate for three years now. the first executor was her fathers attorney, who developed Alzhimers. Then his law partner had a brain aneurysm. She ended up being the executor now and it is a mess, including property in another state, a half sibling, and an IRS audit on some tax form first attorney filled when he was developing the Alzhimers but was not diagnosed.
Anyway, the moral is, spend your assets on yourself while you are living and don't leave a lot of stuff for your family to style after you did. Want to give someone something? Give it to them when you are alive!
Big hogs to everyone on tits bog today! Hope all your crocs are your favorite color! Mine are green
Of course Kate would skirt the filming laws by taking them out of state! No one ever tells Kate no.
And if filming did indeed take place, I'm betting it was a SK8 Production.
I wonder if it has anything to do with Kendra mom Swap thing? Surely no one was interested?
(I read little Hank Baskett Jr, Kendra's son, is in hospital for an undisclosed illness/injury) No, I'm not blaming Kate- hope he's ok- he's a cute little guy.
"I'm the biggest kate Gosselin fan ever! I can't believe she had 8 babies her stomach at once"
____________
lol!! Doesn't she wonder why Mady and Cara are so much taller than the other six, and why they are four grades ahead of them in school? Certainly the biggest Kate Gosselin fan ever would question that!
JoyinVA, I appreciated your mom's story. Before their passing, my parents and hubby's parents were in nursing homes or assisted living facilities. I agree with Joy that most of the caretakers are wonderful and dedicated people. Our experiences with all 4 parents were loving and positive.
There were tired days, when I considered reserving a room in the beautiful assisted living center where my parents shared an apartment.
Each of our parents revived a bit after being re-located to a new home with more daily attention and activity. Even the ones who resisted (!) the change would later admit that we had made a good decision for them.
My experience with nursing homes has been generally good, thank goodness. My great grandmother had the funniest crush on Jamie, the cute nurse who worked the night shift who would come in to turn her. We didn't have the heart to tell her he was gay.
I am glad the nursing home stories are being shared- I have a stereo type image of them in my mind and it's all my grandmother's fault, no, really! I was a young (really young) kid in the 70's when the stories of abuse in nursing homes was making news. Horrible cases of physical abuse of the elderly. And my grandmother made all of us PROMISE not to send her to one of those 'homes', not to abandon her when she got 'old and decrepit' LOL. So in my mind, I see nursing homes as that place you abandon your grandma's when they become old and decrepit. Never to be seen or heard from again.
Thank you for opening my eyes and dispelling that myth :)
Now, I gotta tell ya, the sister wives train wreck is more interesting than Kate, to me, these days. I guess because Kate is OVER, MUAHAHHAHAHAHA!!
Kate tweeted---I really love 2013! Nothing but fun has been on our schedule! Let's hope it continues on throughout the year.
Yep, no doubt she is filming a Special and hopes the filming continues throughout 2013. The worst part isn't going to be the Special but all the TV shows she will do to promote the thing.
IF....if she is being filmed now, she will NEVER give up her hopes of stardom. She will cling to each distant hope. Always waiting for the next fun/fun/fun moment of free travelogue.
Please to goodness, I hope this particular speculation is wrong.
Just another thought. I bet the reason Kate let Jon stop with the child support was because he agreed to let the filming continue. Remember he even alluded in interviews to agreeing to let the kids film if they wanted to.
Yes, I know that the courts would not allow this arrangement. But it is my opinion that it was just an agreement between Jon and Kate and the courts don't know about it nor do they approve it.
I think Jon certainly does have the kids more than Kate has ever let on past and now. But I don't believe it is 50/50 and that is why he is not paying child support.
Filming is the most important thing to Kate and we know she made the TV circuit tours months ago to let the world know that she and Jon are getting along great now & are kids are wanting to film again. And at the same time Jon was giving interviews saying (or strongly suggesting) that he would not object to the kids filming if that is what they wanted.
Jon was desperate (financially) because he could not afford child support and was fearing even going to jail. Kate was desperate to be back on TV. I think potential TV companies that were interested expressed to her that Jon would be a big hindrance (just like he was for TLC) and therefore they were hesitate to film her and her kids. That is why Jon and Kate made a deal.
Kate is either filming with her company or another company that has assurance that Jon will not be a hindrance and that he supports his kids being filmed.
Just another thought. I bet the reason Kate let Jon stop with the child support was because he agreed to let the filming continue. Remember he even alluded in interviews to agreeing to let the kids film if they wanted to.

Thankfully it doesn't work that way, and for good reason. Child support in PA and I believe in all states is always about the child's best interest. You can't "negotiate" it away for other things. You can't use it as a bargaining chip, it's illegal. You can't say I won't make you pay support if you let me do such and such with the kids, it's illegal.
Now, if Kate and Jon had informal child support without the courts involved that would be another matter, they can negotiate all they want, but his child support is court ordered and only the court can decide if it is in the child's best interest to stop it. I find it fantastical to believe any judge will find that eight young children should go without support. It just doesn't happen. The only logical scenario is either Kate is richer than all get out and they just don't need it, or Jon has more custodial time, thus reducing his support by law.
Yes, I know that the courts would not allow this arrangement. But it is my opinion that it was just an agreement between Jon and Kate and the courts don't know about it nor do they approve it.
&&&
It wasn't, all their lawyers said it was court ordered.
TLC did say they planned or at least would try to do some update specials. They've done what is it now, half a dozen little people update specials? Why no Kate specials? Too controversial? Really makes you wonder if they can throw together all these Little People specials why they can't give Kate a bone and give her just one.

Wouldn't you know that the 40-something male sheep who pounced all over this teen and offered to buy her dinner is the guy with the vile sex tweets. Kate must be so proud to have stalkers like this on her Twitter.
Lolly, that is a really interesting thought.
It wouldn't surprise me if the agreement to relieve Jon of child support did have something to do with filming.
Seriously though, suppose that is the case. What reason is there to film this family anymore?
Think about it. The novelty of the idea of multiples and the public's fascination with them has long worn off. The children are all older now, so they can fend for themselves and do things for themselves for the most part, so there's no longer the draw of, how is Kate going to be able to attend to all of those kids? We have already seen them build a chicken coup, a tree house, go on several trips, go camping, etc. It was exploitive, it's in the past at this point, it's over and done. Why film any more?
Besides people who like to look at Kate, and the few fans who for some reason like to pretend that those Gosselin kids are their own, who would have an interest in the world in watching them anymore?
Serious question: Who would watch them on TV, if they really are filming a special/series? The G8 are relatively normal children, ordinary, save for the fact that they were multiples vs singletons. Not so unusual anymore. And as for their mother, well. Maybe her antics would draw eyes to the screen a couple of times, but only in the peeking-through-splayed-fingers-at-a-train-wreck kind of way.
Am I off-base (alone) in thinking this?
Omgosh Improbable Dreams, we posted basically the exact same thought at the exact same time!
As some of you know, I have a twin, but I didn't think she posted on this blog.
Lindsay...is that you????
LOL.
Pity Party, about the Browns being eligible to enter the LDS Temples. No, they are not. They are not members of the LDS church. They call themselves "Fundamentalist Mormons" I think. To worship in their temples, you have to be an LDS member in good standing. No one who is not a member in good standing is eligible to worship there. Before the temples are dedicated, anyone can go in, and open houses are held for that purpose. After the temples are dedicated, no one except members in good standing worship there.
I think any Kate- watchers (pro or con0 would know about the animal and child abuse allegations among other RH- revealed Kate issues, so idk if TLC would give Kate a special. if any, I think it's the self-funded thing .I think she is generally disliked and unpopular in the 'celeb' world although maybe some would tune in to see the kids.
I think TLC would simply crunch the numbers. The budget for filming an "update" special versus how much money they could make airing it. They might not be able to pay the family near as much as before but I bet Kate would take anything at this point.
I think they'd probably get 1.5 maybe 2 million viewers just because it's been quite awhile since the kids have been on TV and people would be slightly curious, enough to channel surf and stop for a few minutes before moving on. That might be enough for it to be worth it to them. Then factor in the bad will from all the controversies surrounding this family and they'd have to decide if it were worth losing any viewers over it (one of the main reasons I think they have self imposed a distancing from Kate since the series ended), and also they would have to assess whether Jon would fight them on it because that's not worth the bad press. It's purely a numbers game for them. If the numbers punch out high enough, they'll film.

It's only illegal if you get caught. My ex and I negotiated outside our court-ordered support for years. I wanted to take my daughter out of state, he wanted child support dropped. Done deal. I never went after him for child support.I got my daughter and was able to move freely (from one duty station to the next) with no problem. And that is most definitely not what our court papers say.
If Kate knew that she and the kids were going away over break, then why would she even put it out there that the kids said they wanted to be home before and after Christmas? You just zip it and say nothing at all.
What's really odd is that if they are filming, she's not throwing out little teases and winks in response to the sheeple who are asking if she's going to be back on television soon. Ordinarily, she would respond with, "Working on it," or "Good things to come. Patience," and so forth. This time, nothing.
In some states, including mine, you pay child support directly to the state, and then it is sent from the state to the child's custody parent. That way, if the spouse didn't pay the support, the state would know, and no deals could be made between the parents. Unless they sent the money back to the support paying parent each month?
Well that's it. The Sister Wives, aka the Brown Family, are being called grifters. The train is barreling down the track, headed for the wreck at full speed.
I agree the child support was court ordered and it must be stopped through the courts for sound reasons.
I think Kate may have told the courts something like this. 1) I have muilt-millions in the bank and the documentation to prove it. 2) Jon has payed huge amounts in the past ($20,000 a month) and now he needs to save up to buy a home for his 8 kids. 3) Jon is spending more time with the kids (though not 50/50) and therefore he is spending more money to support them out of his pockets during their visitations.
I think the courts would agree to this and officially stop the child support.
But the question is why would Kate do such a kind, supportive, rational thing for Jon. She doesn't like him in the least. And we know Kate is not kind, supportive or rational. The answer is she desperately needed something huge that only he can give her. And that is letting his kids being filmed without a problem. Plus the amount in support that he was court ordered truly wasn't that much a month. She didn't need the money in the least. Plus she would make more money filming than collecting his child support.
I don't believe Jon has 50/50 support. Though I believe he does spend much more time with his kids than Kate would admit to. And I don't think 50/50 court ordered would be in the best interest of the kids. Kate is a stay at home mom and Jon is working at least 40 hours or more. And probably has more than one job in addition to dating a woman who has kids of her own.
These are my opinions. I hope I am wrong and no filming is happening now or ever. I hope Kate rots and is never on our TV screens again.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes, yes and yes! I also feel the abortion is very pertinent info.
Kate can't have it both ways. When she thrust her babies into the limelight by begging the public to support her family, she forfeited the privacy the rest of us would have with such personal matters.
Selective reduction is proposed when a HOM pregnancy is discovered. To improve the outcome of the pregnancy, preserve the mother's health and in distant third... prevent the parents from suffering financial hardship.
Thousands of times over, Kate repeated the story of her Oscar winning performance on the ultrasound table. "We do not choose reduction!" Super.
My beef with this then and now, is that Jon & Kate demanded to be indefinitely supported financially because of this alleged strong belief. They demanded that PA citizens like myself, who responsibly limited the amount of children they had, to finance thier irresponsible decision to have more fertility treatments after twins. If I didn't care to buy them some grift cards, I could just pay for their kids in my taxes. Jon and Kate got into our wallets one way or another.
We always knew that it made no sense for Kate to get the fertility treatments for the twins at such a young age and after only a few months of trying. We all know what the OB/GYN gold standard protocol is for infertility. IUI after 3 months of trying is NOT it. Kate based her whole story on not being able to get pregnant naturally and claiming to have a strong belief against reduction. While it is completely plausible that she could have changed her mind about reduction, it appears she never had fertility issues. What is evident is that she had a plan... a sinister plan, and the medical connections and knowledge to carry it out.
For this reason, I think the abortion is the reason Robert named his book "How Kate Gosselin Fooled The World." I also believe he wouldn't publish such a damning accusation if it wasn't factual.
Remember the first couple of specials that were aired about Kate's kids, Surviving Sextuplets and Twins, and then the one a year later?
They were absolutely adorable, I thought, and very enjoyable to watch. They portrayed what appeared to be a humble, loving family trying to make it through each day. If TLC had decided to air one of those specials, oh, three times a year or so, that I would totally support. Jon and Kate could have been compensated for those documentaries while continuing to work at their original jobs. Nobody would be exploited but they would still be well-known and could still get their story out there.
Of course, they had to go too far. Do you guys think that, deep down, Kate feels like she made the right decision, or is that just her stubborn defensive self talking? Think about how different her life would be if she hadn't gone through with Jon and Kate Plus 8. Despite what she says, she would possibly still be married . She wouldn't have ever have had to worry about the paparrazi. She wouldn't have to deal with extensive criticism or disturbing fans, nor would her children. She would probably still have many of the loving, supportive people in her life who started out on her side, like Beth, Kevin and Jodi.
It seems impossible that she doesn't know this, deep down. I personally feel she would be a much happier person, if she had just kept it as those cute, endearing television specials.
Winsome,
yeah my ex quit his job so he didnt have to pay support. He didnt want me to come after him for what he owed, plus he could have lost his license. How immature to not work just to get out of paying child support. He refused to hold a stable job for the ENTIRE duration of her childhood. He lived w/his parents and he is in mid 40's- he JUST NOW moved out, cuz our daughter is 20 and he feels safe now I guess, LOL. What an a$$hole. Sorry, sometimes I vent when I dont meant to, but it's hard to keep it bottled up. But I got my daughter (not like he wanted her- I had to fight to make him take her on his weekends) so that's all that matters in the end.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
In PA, all court-ordered child support goes through Domestic Relations. Employers are sent notice of the amount, and they, in turn, deduct it from the spouse's check each pay period. That way the court knows that the recipient is being paid.
The spouse never pays the state or the recipient directly if the support has been ordered by the court. In private agreement, the spouse pays the other as negotiated by both parties.
I agree. I think she would have sued his ass off if it weren't true. Both Jon and Kate fooled their fans and viewers for years. You think Jon began to smoke after the show ended? Nah, they just hid it.
TLC manufactured the couple and controlled everything from their behavior to appearance. Well,maybe not towards the end with K+8 when kate had her tits showing all the time.
In PA you make your child support payments directly to the child support division in Harrisburg. Jon never cuts Kate a check, he cuts a check to PA SCDU. This is the case for most states. It prevents a lot of fraud that way. They would know if there were any hanky panky going on when the payment didn't come.
In fact Bucks county even warns "Do NOT pay Plaintiff directly" (Kate).
I can't think of a more open and shut case than if someone said you had an abortion and you didn't. I would be down at court so fast filing suit.
That's only for people with employers. There are many fathers who are not getting your typical 9 to 5 paycheck. For people who are out of work, or self employed like Jon you have to take it upon yourself to cut them checks or set up automatic deposit. But in any case, it all ends up going to the same place whether it is being garnished or you pay it yourself. It does NOT go directly to Kate.
I think Jon has probably agreed to let the kids be filmed whether to just shut Kate up, to have his child support dropped (see Butterfly's post above) or to make a little money for himself.. Now whether or not anyone wants what is filmed is another story. I think Kate is using her production company to film all the fun, fun, fun that they're having and she's going to shop it around to try and get some network to pick it up as a special.
How pathetic would it be if she finally said screw it and set up her own production company (this much we know she did) and hired some interns to film some crappy rinky dink special. I picture shoddy camera angles, background noise when she does the interviews, sound of a boom mic operator chomping gum, cheap stupid music in the background with bad cuts. She would have NO shame, none at all. God Kate, let it go.
Why didn't you go back to court and do it legally? Wouldn't you then have the documents in hand to show that everything was done according to what was ordered?
We also speculated before Jon may have said sure sure Kate you can film. Jon, like us, is much more realistic about it all and realizes that the odds of the filming are very, very slim and even if they did film it likely wouldn't be much.
Is it really worth the endless fighting and drama with Kate? I might hedge my bets on nothing ever coming of it too just to keep her happy. If Kate is happy the kids are in a better place, IMO.
Why didn't you go back to court and do it legally? Wouldn't you then have the documents in hand to show that everything was done according to what was ordered?
&&
I'm guessing because what they wanted isn't necessarily what the courts would do. Remember most states do what is in the child's best interest not necessarily what the parents want even if BOTH want it. Not that I'm condoning an illegal act, but even if both parents went back to court and wanted child support dropped, the court might very well have said I cannot find that is in the child's best interest, too bad so sad.
This is exactly why most states have you pay them directly, to avoid this problem of people making back alley deals over their children. Not that Butterfly's arrangement wasn't perfectly reasonable, but for many parents it cuts against their children's best interest and that's not good public policy.
Some things aren't worth fighting over. Choose your battles. If I chose to fight for the child support, my ex never would have let me take my daughter out of CA and with me from state to state (am in military). Simple. Too simple. Having my kid w/me was far more important than fighting for money I wasnt going to get anyway, because he wasnt employed. I won, I got my kid. He lost because he was chronically unemployed for 15+ years.
I also would like to remind people that OC family court (where my case was) is notoriously SLOW, and I did not have months to wait to be seen, with no guarantee of a win.
Wayward #83---I believe your reply is spot on. Kate made her true or fake reproduction problems our business. She wrote books about it and went on every TV program talking about her getting pregnant and the problems she supposedly had.
But even if the abortion is true. Her family will never speak of such a deeply personal issue. What proof did Robert have to have about the abortion? I don't blame him for writing about it but I am saying he doesn't have proof of her having one. And therefore that is why the media never wrote a thing about this when his book came out. Nor did the media write about her taking an extra hormone shot to increase the eggs released. (And he has proof of the shipping receipt).
And even though Robert can't prove she had an abortion, I highly doubt Kate will sue over this because it would only bring great attention to something she wants the world to never know.
OH NO, that's why Milo is also on a twitter break- she's filming Kate! LOL!!
The horror.
Do you guys think that, deep down, Kate feels like she made the right decision, or is that just her stubborn defensive self talking?
WW,
I don't think that Kate has any regrets, nor would she change anything. It's full speed ahead for her and those in her way - be damned. You and I, people who don't have a narcissistic personality and who have a conscience, would question their decisions, regret past choices, make changes in future behavior, but not Kate. I don't think she's lost a wink of sleep over anything that has happened.
I have observed that narcissists do not have regrets. They see no wrong or feel no guilt or regret about past decisions. They don't say I'm sorry. They don't see that they've hurt people, even are presently hurting people, even their own children they gave birth to and do love in their own way. As the OP said it's all just full steam ahead keep on trucking. They will do the same thing over and over again plowing people over. If a narcissist is going through a bunch of nannies, two or three a year, as Kate did, she will think well how unlucky I am to get so many bad nannies, or even, sadly I have been given very difficult children. She never thinks, hmm maybe there is some behavior I am doing that is driving these nice young women away. Same with relationships--oh there are just no good men out there. Not, oh maybe I need to work on myself and being a healthier partner.
If you think about it, that's how normal people end up reacting differently in the same situation than in the past, because we've tried out other ways that didn't work. As a child, you may hit another child to get a toy. But then you end up in the corner. So the next time, you try out another way to get the toy without getting sent to the corner, like asking nicely, or inviting them to play together with it. But a narcissist would think so what about the corner, I got the toy didn't I and that's what matters. To a narcissist who thinks all past behavior worked out just fine for them, they don't have that same gage of regret to inform them how to act differently in the future.
Long story short, I don't think Kate understands the feeling of regret which if you think about it is an incredibly important emotion to have in order to have successful social skills.
I can see that too (lol).
Something akin to Isaiah Mustafa's Old Spice commercials.
Except, Isaiah is very sexy- and Kate is not.
Isaiah's voice melts butter- and Kate's voice shrivels testicles.
Old Spice commercials are well done- Kate's career is cooked.
Years of speculating on the blogosphere followed. Only when Robert's book came out did it become crystal clear. Kate is mentally ill. The alleged trauma she suffered as a child seems to have affected her greatly. She seems to have zero empathy or ability to feel compassion for anyone but herself. Nothing affirmed this to me more, than the part in the book where she was giddy that the mother pregnant with tups miscarried. It also looks like she decided at some point money was the key to filling her void, and material possesions would be her cure. The family members who protested the cutthroat way she went about it, were dismissed.
WW, you wondered if deep down Kate questioned her decisions. Like one of my favorite Sublime songs "The Wrong Way"- I think Kate did know way deep down what she was doing was wrong. So she used God's name to endorse all her antics and schemes.
TLC gave her the opportunity of a lifetime. It looks like she repaid them by embarrassing them and being extremely difficult, impossible, greedy and demanding. Especially after the divorce, she should have done whatever the hell she needed to do to be a team player and keep her show on the air. She would not, and was fired. This in itself is a perfect example of her instability and mental issues. It was so ridiculous, her incessant babbling about working her fingers off and living for her kids and doing whatever she needed to do to provide, blah, blah blah. All lies. It's the exact opposite. If she really felt that way she would have gotten on the garbage truck and flipped burgers at the diner like TLC wanted her do. TLC was trying to tell her that going on luxe vactions and screaming at stressed little kids was getting old. And the ratings showed it. But there Kate was, on twitter asking her twatters for ideas for where TLC could send her next.
Kate, get some help, please.
Helloooo, Lbelle; waving wildly to you! You, too, Lilly!
I hope everyone had good holiday season. Hard to believe that it's over already. This is the first time I've been on this blog this week so it's good to catch up. Still trying to read all of the comments.
Lolly and Charlez, I don't recognize your names so welcome! I always enjoy to see new posters here.
Also have to echo everyone else's sediments about Working Woman. I have so enjoyed your posts, hon.
Kate having her own production crew? That was a good one Admin. She can do whatever productions she wants, but a network has to be willing to air them. That's where she will lose. I don't think anyone will touch "her brand".
By the way, Parent in Lancaster County, I had to search through all of the pages on the 2 previous threads till I finally found your ham and cabbage soup recipe. Just got back from the store and I'm making that tonight for dinner. It sounds so good I can't wait to try it!
OH NO, that's why Milo is also on a twitter break- she's filming Kate! LOL!!
The horror.
----------------------
Well, she does have experience as a sports announcer, so maybe she decided that filming is the way to go...she's working her way up the ladder to be a major motion picture producer/director and in her hour-long Academy Awards acceptance speech, she'd have Kate right by her side on the stage, gushing over her, slobbering up and down with tears of gratitude.
admin said...The camera angles would be all up and down Kate's oh so sexy body the whole time.
-------------
I think most of the shots would be on Kate's legs. If I recall, Milo was always talking about Kate wearing short dresses because of her fantastic legs. Milo would have to take multiple breaks from filming, just to wipe the sweat off her brow and take cold showers.
Pass the brain bleach, please...
Not, oh maybe I need to work on myself and being a healthier partner.
******
This could not have been make more crystal clear than on the RV episode when Kate said everyone leaves her and then has the guts to pout. Like I'm going to feel sorry for her. Not.
On Dec 13, Kate tweeted "she was working on year end paperwork". I thought that was wierd as who starts income tax prior to the end of the year, but then thought, oh well, perhaps she is just getting it all organized. But in light of her absence, I think that was her hint that she was doing paperwork required for year end...working permits, etc??
Also, Does Rep Murts law start January 1, 2013? Is it currently in place? or does it start later this month?
I am feeling under the weather so hanging around a bit more, and I have figured out a way to post, got the idea from someone here, but I forget who. It also helps with the " refreshing taking you back to the beginning".. I post on safari, but read on firefox. When I refresh on firefox, it takes me back to the last post I read, not to the beginning. Thanks to whoever gave that tick about 2 months ago!
In the Rv episode when kate says " everyone leaves", I believe that kate didnt do any self reflecting because she doesnt believe that people leave because of her. She believes they leave because of the kids.
If I recall her words on that RV trip were about everyone leaves, but she cant leave because she's the mom. ( which to me implies, she thinks its the kids fault)
Blowing In The Wind, can't you just see it now? Milo would have Kate in tight short-shorts with a pair of hooker heels that coordinated with her orange skin tone. She'd also probably pick out a tight low-cut top for Kate so she can show off her best "bought" assets! Then Kate could give a monologue about how she "de-ages" and Milo could have 2 sheeple carrying a banner across the screen saying "Kate is a natural beauty."
Yep, I can see the networks fighting to pick up that pilot!
Kate has it backwards, which is typical for a Narcisisst... People stay longer then they might " for the kids", but Kate thinks its because of her winning personality!
" Everyone who meets me, loves me!".. Yes because that is when you are doing your classic " hooking" to reel them in and believe you are this awesome person. But once you think you've got them, you turn your nastiness on. They stay because they have fallen in love with your kids, and perhaps begin to feel some obligation to try and protect them. Likely because of some stupid no-disclosure contracts, and the power you unfortunately seem to have, they stay as long as they can, but when they start to become unravelled themselves due to the toxitity they leave, perhaps hope that someone else will come along to "protect" the kids. YES KATE, THE PRECEDING MESSAGE WAS ABOUT YOU AND DIRECTED TO YOU! because I know you read here!
Working Woman, I agree the specials were cute and interesting to see how this family managed. But then we did not know what Kate had hidden in her past ( abuse of the kids) and the greed and exploitation that would follow. I feel Jon was abused too- I doubt their marriage would have lasted since Kate would have continued to make his life miserable, especialy if her grand scheme did not work- she would just have saddled him with all the childcare and also work at a mediocre job.
Re: Mile. LOL, I would NOT watch that, for sure! It burns!!
Love My Grandsons -- welcome back. Missed you!
meagler, I agree with you. Kate doesn't think it's her, if anything she thinks people leave, or won't date her, because she has 8 kids. First off, the 8 kids and the subsequent divorce were Kate's idea.
Second of all, she just doesn't get that it's her nasty attitude and meaness. From what I have seen of her on TV and in interviews, there is nothing likeable about this woman, and it shows to everyone.
Thank you, Dmasy. I wasn't feeling well the past week, but now with medication, I'm doing better. Just had to catch up here on what I missed!
Fleecing the Sheeple
What's really odd is that if they are filming, she's not throwing out little teases and winks in response to the sheeple who are asking if she's going to be back on television soon. Ordinarily, she would respond with, "Working on it," or "Good things to come. Patience," and so forth. This time, nothing.
___________________________________
I think for the same reason nothing was said about the Mom Swap - it may not get picked up by any network. If she talks about it and no one is interested she looks like a loser. If she stays quiet and then it does get picked up then she will send out her hints and teases.
Just wondering...why do the young girls on Dance Moms wear those large earrings ( as seen in the YouTube photo above) for practice? Are they Tiffany earrings or something special?
Just a random thought. Could Kate have had a botched abortion that then prevented her from becoming pregnant? It would answer why she was able to have fertility treatments so soon after getting married.
Kate doesnt like people to know where they are, because You know, she is such a STAH, the masses of people will flock to see her. Last night I watched that episode of " never before seen" footage episode, the one where they are getting their passports done. When Jon spills the beans about where they are going ( Korea) she freaks that now everyone in the AAA office will know where they are going, and they will have no peace!
Kate wants to be " out there" but on her terms and conditions. When it is someone else taking a picture, whether a papparazzi or a fan, she has no control over where it will end up. That is why so many people have had to hand over their cameras to have pictures deleted that Kate didnt approve of! or she has turned her " pit bull" lawyers onto people and got them stop stop publication.
That is what I think happened to that PA reporter who caught the "picture that would be seen around the world"... her pitbull lawyers sent him one of those scary back off letters.
meagler, yes I do not understand why people handed over their cameras to Steve or whoever, so the pictures could be deleted. If I was in a public place and taking photographs with my camera, I would not have handed it over to someone or deleted pictures because they told me to. I never understood why Kate, who wants to be in the public eye so much, then would complain about pictures being taken of her by the public. Paps and other pictures come along with the fame. As my grandma, and probably most grandmas said, if you can't stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen.
The Sheeple film crew comments cracked me up. Thanks, ladies!
I thought of that too- but why the PCOS excuse? Why not just say infertility problems?And after the twins obviously no issues from a botched abortion Also I think if an abortion causes problems the drs will try to treat it first these days ( or even then)unless you have repeated abortions and scar the inside uterine walls...but who knows? I don't think they would jump to IUI- is that what she had- right off.
Love my Grandsons: I wondered that too about people handing over their cameras to have pictures deleted. Here is what I have come up with why they did that....
If I didnt know what I know now with following the gosselins, and what I have learned from Admin about rights, and what public/private etc, and had been in a public place and saw a celeb and took a picture, then had some person approaching me saying " I am so and so's security and your picture could put this family at risk, so would you please hand me your camera, so I can ensure that pictuie is deleted" I would have likely not only handed over my camera but apologized profusely for taking it. Why? because I am a kind hearted person who would want to believe what this security person is telling me, and I believe and follow orders from persons in Authoirty.
Today however, if I was in a public place and the Gosselins were there, and no rule was posted about NOT taking pictures; and I took a picture ( of course I would be watching for some real doozy opportunities) and Steve-o or someone else approached me, I would say, "ya right, thats not gonna happen!" No rule posted, she's in a public place, so nope not yours..
However I have never had any luck in seeing any famous people....lol..
I know. Kate is good at one or two things...LYING, even to doctors for one.
OT, but wooo-hooo!! It's snowing here!!
Okay, I know it's only supposed to be less than an inch, but still, it's snowing!! Winter isn't winter to me without beautiful snow falling.
LMG - you might want to talk to Franky about snow lol - another 10cm tonight here more pix tomorrow - mild today and growing 5foot icicles over the deck - a no go zone
Hey Meagler - are you Canadian? Cause that sounds like a typical 'ooopps sorry' that we are infamous for lol
Lilly, I know that icicles hanging are a no go zone, but they sure do look beautiful! I remember as a kid the long icicles hanging over the side of the house and I loved to look at them through my bedroom window. How I love the winter snow and icicles!
(My hubs has tried to get me into counseling for these feelings because, and most people, think it's abnormal! Lol!!!!)
My Neigbor has major icicles off her roof too! We are always amazed at the weight of the ice dam, that her roof doesnt collapse. The sad thing is, that poor woman has spent $$$ trying to fix it, and thought it had finally been successful, but nope, still has that ice dam.
Our front yard have over 5 feet of snow in it from shovelling it off of the driveway . When the kids were smaller they had their own hill to toboggan on :) We are in the prairies! But we are ready ( hopefully) for any flooding the spring may bring with it!
When Kate made that comment in the RV episode that "people leave my life, and I just move forward", I was struck by how matter-of-factly she said it. There was no sadness, no confusion, no sense of self-reflection. She just said it like it was a fact, like it's one of life's woe's that everyone leaves your life eventually and we all have to deal with it.
No, Kate. Many of us have life-long friends and loved ones who continue to remain a part of our lives, through the good and the bad. Those of us who know how to treat people well and make them feel appreciated are not constantly being left by others, like you are. And if we were, we would wonder what we could possibly be doing to cause it, rather than blaming it on our children or on life itself.
Remember that comment she made to Tony on DWTS when they were making up from their fight, after he quit? She said "Thank you for not quitting, a lot of people quit on me in life."
When I watched that on YouTube, I was like, "What the....?" Way to imply that all of those people just woke up one day and decided to quit on you, and that none of it was your own doing.
Kate, people quit on you because they can only take so much before they simply don't have much of a choice. Jon didn't have a choice; he could either leave or continue to emasculated and put down by you. Your family members didn't "quit" on you, you estranged them.
I really don't like it when she behaves like a martyr. If I heard from one person (and this is just an example) "You're neighbor is a thief and a mean person," I would take it with a grain of salt and give my neighbor the benefit of the doubt. If I heard from a second person that my neighbor was a thief and was mean, I would start giving it more consideration. If a third person warned me that my neighbor was a thief and a mean person, I would have very, very little trust in this neighbor.
Same principal applies here. If it was just one or two people that walked out of Kate's life, I wouldn't think as much of it and wouldn't necessarily think it was a poor reflection on Kate. When this many people have "quit" on her, though, I'm sorry if this sounds presumptuous but it's gotta be her, at least a lot of it.
Lilly! yep, I am Canadian!! What's up eh??? lol..
LMG: I need counselling too then because I love the smell of exhaust on a winters day, and breaking off the biggest icicle and then try to eat it is a great childhood memory! ( amongst many others) .. but I have never ever stuck my tongue to the flag pole or anything else metal! ha ha
I believe 100% that Kate is filming. She may tease but she is also so predictable. I am not worried about it hitting the airways though, that last wive swap thing only hit the tabloid fodder. We haven't seen one frame of it on tv. Not even a reliable conformation from any interviews that it happened. Only, I do believe it happened.
OT, thanks Admin for the quick swiffering. I was worried because mine was the last comment of the evening and I was worried that evil people would see what I was talking about.
meagler, about 2 years ago we had big snow storms in Chicago and our grandsons were staying with us for the week. The snow was already about 18 inches deep and got deeper after we shoveled. What fun the boys had! Papa made trails in the snow for them so we could only see the top of their hoods in the backyard. They we all made a snowfort that we drank hot chocolate in. It was such fun, and the kids slept like rocks that night, they were so exhausted from sledding and running in the snow.
As for icicles, my hubs takes care of all that stuff and no matter what, we still get the big icicles. Is there really a way to prevent them? It doesn't bother me, though, because I can just reach up my hands and break them off. Hope your neighbor stays safe and there are people to help her.
watching 'Amish Mafia'. Had to see at least 1 episode- IDK why- LOL
OT - quick one - 4 years old or so with my Dad at the canal with metal railings - you got it - I licked and stuck my tongue big time - no-one around - what did Daddy do? Well, it worked....
Hi, njay! Admin and her blog girls are great at quick swiffering. They've done it for me a few times.
I think what I said in my recap rings true about Kate quitting on Tony just as much today as it did then. I also praised Pamela Andersen for being a NORMAL celeb, including for sending her kids to public school for one. Two years later I thought I'd mention, the kids are still in the public high school and on honor roll. She is giving her kids a real gift in a town where being normal can be impossible for a celebrity child.
"Tony gives some rehearsed speech the producers quickly scrambled together about how he had a weak moment. No, no, no, Tony, you fell for the classic Kate-trap! You are now blaming yourself, not her! You did EXACTLY what she wanted! This kind of thing just encourages her. Then he goes back. Thank you for not quitting, Kate tells him. A lot of people have quit on me in my life. I wait for Tony to remove his cowboy hat and tearfully quiver, “I wish I knew how to quit you, Kart!” Whoops, wrong movie.
Now, see, if you didn’t know Kate that well, like maybe this is the first time you’ve really seen her in action, you might fall for that pathetic and manipulative “Everyone has quit on me” comment. But don’t, and I’ll tell you why! People in Kart’s life don’t quit on Kart. Kart DRIVES THEM AWAY. She has estranged all the children’s closest relatives and friends. She goes through nannies like the kids go through organic fluffernutter. You wouldn’t know it the way she tells it, but she filed for divorce first, not Jon. Yes, check the archives of Radaronline, the Shopping Kart is the Petitioner and Jon is the DEFENDANT! She actively drove him away by treating him like a doormat. She’s amassed more enemies than Bernie Madoff. Kate has always wanted us to believe that all those people are wrong, every single one of them, and she’s right. Uh-huh."
Lilly, when we were kids, my brothers and I would dare each other to stick their tongues to the chain link fence we had. No one ever got stuck, though, I think because we barely touched it with our tongues and we always went to the links, not the poles!
Oh, no! The flakes are starting to get smaller and I can't see them unless I get up close to the window. I'm pretty sure we have less than 1/8 of an inch, but I have to stay positive because at least the ground is somewhat snow covered!
All I can say is Lancaster County is, indeed, beautiful!! But I wouldn't want to live there- No beach :)
Yeah, Admin, it's summed up perfectly in your recap.
What kind of message does she think this sends to her kids about relationships? Here's what it teaches them: that people stay in your life and help you for a while, but then eventually they just decide to leave you and you have to be okay with it.
I hope these kids grow up knowing that it is possible to maintain loving, healthy relationships, and quite possible to repair relationships that have tarnished. They sure won't learn it from Kate's experiences.
About Kody being a jirk, I don't care for his high strung personality, which if I bet, I would say he is ADHD, but he let the polygamist belief out real strong in the vacation episode.
In the polygamists religion the man is, well for not having a better way to explain it, is very close to being the "prophet" for his family. The husband/father is the one who God will speak to about the final decisions in the house. He decides who he will marry after he has prayed and got the answer. That is why he made the comment he wanted to bark the orders and have them obeyed. THAT IS THE POLYGAMIST in him. He slipped and the women caught it.
The family of polygamists they went on vacation with, with what I know of polygamy, was following more of the religion than what the Browns do. The Browns seem to be trying to tailor the religion around what they want it to be and not what the religion practices. Hence all the fighting and jealousy. Not that it doesn't happen in polygamy, the women are expected to keep quite about it.
The mans role is very rooted. My father was raised in polygamy yet did not continue it after marrying my mom and no one else accepted his offers. When I took care of him after he developed dementia, I was surprised to see the man role open back up in him. That is when I saw how rooted it really becomes.
oh Lilly, I wonder how many kids had their tongues safety removed from the poles that way?!?!? I mean, who carries around warm water with them when they are out and about...lol...
I didnt get to see the movie " The Christmas Story" this year, and I really missed my bellychuckle reminders of being a kid. If you havent seen it, and you have experienced snowy, cold winters, this movie is a hoot. I will see if I can find a clip on you tube and copy the link....brb
Oh ewww Lilly. When I got stick I I only had to endure kids laughing at me until a teacher brought some warm water..lol
On plus side, , street was finally cleared last night from 1to 3 am..yeah...no more mountainclimbing to get to work!
Yes, she's also teaching them not to be personally responsible for your role in relationships. Everyone has a role in a relationship that they need to own. There just isn't any such thing as everyone always leaving you or everyone always quitting you. Yes that sometimes happens for nothing you did. But if you notice clear patterns in relationships, a child needs to be taught to examine and be responsible for their actions.
I just couldn't get over the kids saying they wanted servants. WTF?? The RV episodes really let it hang out there, didn't they? Kate can say it was edited fro drama, but BS, those reactions were REAL.
Okay, my local weather report is over because it has officially stopped snowing here. (Wiping tears from my eyes now.)
Improbable Dreams said... 73
Serious question: Who would watch them on TV, if they really are filming a special/series? The G8 are relatively normal children, ordinary, save for the fact that they were multiples vs singletons. Not so unusual anymore. And as for their mother, well. Maybe her antics would draw eyes to the screen a couple of times, but only in the peeking-through-splayed-fingers-at-a-train-wreck kind of way.
Am I off-base (alone) in thinking this?
=====
Improbable - I don't think you're off-base at all, although I would probably watch it afterward on Youtube (and of course read Admin's accurate and funny recap), but I still refuse to give TLC the satisfaction of a big audience. Even if it doesn't make any difference, it brings me my own satisfying flipping-of-the-bird to Kate and TLC. And I'm already angry enough at myself for getting sucked into Sister Wives on occasion. That's going to stop. haha.
What I would like to see is an updated documentary of Juanita, The Farmer's Wife. I have nothing but admiration for her. She had REAL struggles and worked so hard to keep the family farm. I can't imagine Kate taking on a housekeeping job, scrubbing other people's toilets so she could keep her home and feed her kids, but that was exactly what Juanita had to do and it made me respect her even more.
I have no respect for that floating turd Kate.
Here's the clip with his tongue stuck to the flagpole!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XlPwsmkPHI
Auntie Ann, I agree with you about an update documentary on Juanita. The last thing I want to see are update specials on so-called reality stars. They weren't living real life; they were acting out scripts and written scenarios. What Juanita was doing was real. That's the big difference.
LMG - Even a half-hour interview with her would be interesting. She's incredible woman. If that's what mediocrity is, give me more please. Kate can suck it.
I believe somewhere on here someone posted updated photos of Juanita and her daughters. They all look so happy.
Totally agree with you and LMG about an update on Juanita. However she said she would not make a doc again...I too admire how her strength and pride and love saved that home until the farm was back up & running and she and D split up, the girls grown.
However she said she would not make a doc again...
===
I didn't realize she said that. Good for Juanita. That's another huge difference between her and whatzername, who would never turn down a chance to tell people all about herself.
Juanita seems like such a grounded, humble woman who puts her kids before herself and truly wants to do right by them. A hard worker and an extraordinary lady.
Auntie Anne I agree, would love to see more of her. She is far from "mediocre". Kate doesn't get that the quality or value of a person or their life has NOTHING to do with how often they are on camera, how famous they are, or how much money they have.
The value comes from within, from the contributions they make to the world around them and from the way they treat their loved ones.
I don't believe in holding grudges toward people for things they said years ago. During Kate and Jon's divorce, he made some comments that I probably wouldn't have made, such as that he currently "despised" Kate.
But I can forgive Jon, he has since acknowledged that he was in a terrible place in his life during that time and made a lot mistakes, things that he wishes he could undo.
I will never forgive Kate, however, for making the "mediocre" comment. It's hard to think of a more insulting comment she could have made to not only the father of your children, but to 99.99999 percent of the public. She will never, ever live that down, nor should she.
Ah, Working Woman, I will repeat my mantra that you are wise beyond your years. I was briefly married at 20 and it only lasted 3 years. It was an abusive relationship and I said very negative things about my ex to family and friends. However, we didn't have children and I my comments weren't published. After being away from him for a few years, I let go of the grudges and only wish him well.
Kate has never understood that and she is still the same abusive, cold woman now that she was then. She has never grown up emotionally and accepted the real world. I have my doubts that she ever will. In the end, it is the kids that will suffer.
Thank you so much, LMG. I've missed you around here, hope your holidays were wonderful!
That's so big of you to be able to wish your ex well even after all of the negative you have been through with him. It says so much about the type of person you are.
No doubt, it often takes a lot of time to be able to do it. And I am sure Jon was not a perfect angel either and that he hurt Kate in some ways, too, just as she hurt him. But in the end, life is so much more enjoyable when you are not holding a grudge and when you put the past behind you.
Wishing everyone a wonderful night.
I think I've told this here before, but my daughter and her friend were at Legends a couple years ago and her friend took a picture of Jon. Next thing you know, two big guys were on my daughter's friend demanding he hand over his camera. He handed it over and they deleted the pictures. I guess they must have been intimidating.
Working Woman, I wasn't always the "bigger" person. That comes with time, age, and wisdom. I don't know what his life is like, but I hope he is well. I only know that leaving him was the best decision I made and my hubs and I will be celebrating 27 years together in May.
Berks Resident, yes it was probably very intimidating. Many years ago I would have been intimidated, too. However, I learned the law and got a bit scrappier as I aged and would have told them to call the police if I was doing something wrong. Now, I need to say this is how I THINK I would handle it; being in that position may be totally different.
My ex husband was an abusive doozy too. Second time's a charm though. Fortunately we didn't have kids and I was free to leave and do whatever wanted. I would hope that I'd have remained positive about him even at that tender young age.
I believe he's married again with kids and I hope the kids have made him a better person.
She'd do more than that. She'd hire a plane to fly along the beach with the banner.
Watch those icicles! They can be deadly. Yes, they are wonderful to look at, but someone in the neighborhood was killed when one fell off the roof and hit her in the head. Very sad, freak accident. It was in the back yard, and she stayed there in the snow until a neighbor found her hours later.
Tucker's Mom, I know what you mean. I'm glad things worked out for both of us.
I'm envious of all the snow our Canadian blogger friends are getting! This sure seems to be one dry winter in Illinois. What state are you in (if you feel comfortable giving that info, hon)?
Winter Wonderland, so so sorry to hear about your neighbor. What a horrible thing to happen. That's why we never walk under the icicles, but just outside of them. However, when we were daring kids...
I'm in the DC region. We're just not getting the cold and snow for the past couple years. I think the last big snowfall was 3 years ago! I'm from PA, and I remember single digit temps throughout winter, 3 feet of snow, the whole city shut down.
It was heaven!
Well, except that first husband and i were separated and I lived alone in our house for a year or so, and I was left with shoveling icebergs from our driveay, ice picking out our mailbox (which didn't see mail for over 2 weeks!) and getting up at 4am to get into work by 7. Not fun. Long, long days.
Do you remember when Tony first was assigned to Kate and his wife told him to be nice to her? She felt so bad for her and felt people misunderstood her. I don't remember the exact wording but Tony went into that job with a positive attitude. I am not sure if their kids played together or not but I remember there was talk of it. It sounded like they were going to be friends for life. I wonder how Tony's wife felt about Kate after she seen how she treated him.
Tucker's Mom, I can understand those long days. I have been blessed because I've never shoveled snow much; my husband is the snowblower king on our block. He loves his snow blower so much that he starts getting it ready in November. Then, if snows hit, he not only does our driveway and sidewalk, he walks up and down the block and does everyone's if they need it. Especially those that have no one to shovel it for them.
I remember one year (and maybe I posted this before) that he started snowblowing the driveway and sidewalk of a neighbor across the street. She was an older woman living by herself so he just did it like he did for others. After he had done so much, she opened up her door and started yelling at him. She said something to the effect that if her car gets damaged from the snowblower, she was going to sue us. He stopped and came home. He never did her drive again, althoug he has done it for the new neighbors that moved in later.
I wanted to say another thing about shoveling snow and neighbors. A number of years ago, my husband seriously injured his ankle during the winter, at work (he had to have a few pins put into it).
Anyhow, it was in the winter and we never had to worry about our driveway or sidewalk. The neighbors knew what had happened and the husbands and the kids shoveled our driveway and sidewalks for that whole winter. I made a bunch of cookies (not homemade, just the Pillsbury rolls that my daughter and I cut and decorated) and brought them to each neighbor that helped us.
The great thing was they were grateful, but said we didn't need to do that. They were just happy to help us out after all the times my hubs snowblowed their driveways and sidewalks.
That's how neighbors and communities work together. Not that Kate would ever understand that concept.
Omgosh Improbable Dreams, we posted basically the exact same thought at the exact same time! As some of you know, I have a twin, but I didn't think she posted on this blog.
Lindsay...is that you????
Hahaha, no. But we're like-minded, I think. #separatedatbirth? :)
Kate's old neighbors told stories about how unfriendly she was. She was in hog heaven when she moved into the mansion with no neighbors at all.
It would get a little lonely--I'd miss my neighbors!
I would miss neighbors, too, Tucker's Mom. On New Year's Eve, our neighbors (and very good friends) invited us over for a New Year's dinner, El Salvador style. I couldn't bring anything (although I've brought dishes to their BBQ's) because she said it was tradition that on a holiday, the host/hostess provide all of the food. Even family that came did not bring a dish, which was unusual because they always bring something.
Anyway, I had a wonderful dinner of foods that I had never had before, and they were delicious. It was a great time.
In previous years, when we had our grandsons on New Year's Eve and we celebrated New Year's at 7:00 (because the boys couldn't stay up till 12, and neither could we!), the neighbors knew we would be taking the boys outside to shout "Happy New Year!", use noisemakers, and shoot off poppers. A couple of our closest neighbors knew it and would come outside, too, with their children. We would have such fun!
Then the boys would come inside and call Mom and Dad, and Uncle Jeff and Aunt Donna, to tell them happy new year. By 8:30, the boys would be sound asleep, but the next day, would again tell Mommy and Daddy how they got to celebrate New Years with the other kids on our block.
Okay, I'm missing my boys. I know you will all forgive my reminiscing.
" What's sad is Milo doesn't realize that by bringing up the abortion issue all over again it gets even more airtime. We barely discussed it since the info came out. Now here we are discussing it much more in depth. Milo strikes again." (4)
Ah? Interesting way to put it, Admin... Maybe she does realise what she's doing? Could our Milo be showing symptoms of some king of twisted psychological Münchausen syndrome by proxi? Hurting the one she loves so she can play the role of the hero rushing to her recue?
Nah. She's a sheeple. No need to put big words on it.
If Robert Hoffman had found Kate's journals before Jon and Kate went on the air, and had pubished them as the show was on, do you think the Gosselins would have had the fan base they had? If people were given the notion ahead of time that Kate had hurt her children in any way, would they still watch the show?
My thinking is that the gist of Robert Hoffman's book is in the public arena by now.
The knowledge of what Kate's journals say is out there. Will enough people now tune in to
a show with Kate and her kids? It seems to me that any production company may as well just make it for private showings of her fan base, taking it to minor coffee houses in major cities for her fans to gather. To believe that there is a real audience out there any more just seems unfathomable to me now that Robert
Hoffman's book has been made public knowledge.
I don't think the general public or fan base really knows of Hoffman's book. It's practically a memory at this point and I don't understand why, but its like Kate's own horrible words don't even exist.
Beating her kids, reveling in someone's failed pregnancy, signing the kids up to work work work for years etc.
It's like she's Teflon.
No idea what ever happened to the book and going public with press etc, but Hoffman has seemingly dropped off the face of the earth.
Something or someone got to him.
fidosmommy, that's a very good point. I would like to think that people would not have watched then because they wouldn't have been duped by the fakeness then.
I don't think people would tune into a new show, not for long anyway, because the kids are not special. They are just ordinary growing kids, the same as my daughter was, the neighbors kids, etc. When they were toddlers, that was a draw, but not now, in my opinion.
There is nothing special about Kate, as we all know. And, no offense, but there is nothing special about her kids. They are no better or different than anyone else's children. I know Kate wants to believe that somehow her brood is more important, but that just isn't true. At least not to me.
Who's tending Shoka, while Kate and the kids are away?
Assuming arguendo. Sorry, but I'm still not convinced he still lives at the Kompound.
If they filmed a special, would there still be "couch interviews" where the kids would bounce around like four-year-olds and talk baby talk? Because I think that's what fans of the kids want to see. I don't think they can accept that these are 8 and 12-year-olds.
Heck, PatK, even Kate hasn't accepted that the "littles" are 8 years old; why would the sheeple?
I hope the kids don't still need subtitles. From Kate's tweets, their speaking skills are still behind.
Tucker's Mom, I wouldn't judge anything by Kate's tweets. It seems to be her mission to make the tups look like they are still 4 years old because 8 year olds aren't as cute to the public, even if they are tups.
I don't believe much of what Kate tweets, and with the kids being in school and around other kids, I do not believe that they are still talking something similar to "baby talk". That' just the impression Kate wants to give.
And if they are still talking like that, the damn her as a mother and the school should be failing them in certain subjects because they are not up to standards.
I'm in the middle of taking the ornaments off the tree. I know so many people, including my family, take the tree down on New Years Day. To me, New Years Day is still a holiday and the tree doesn't come down until the weekend after the holiday. Needless to say, because we get a real tree every year, there are needles all over. I'll probably still find a needle or two in June! Happens every year.
On the issue of child support, the state I live in does allow for parents to negotiate support. I have been in family law, as a paralegal, for many years and the firm I'm at practices in a major metro area and several surrounding counties. Although support is calculated here by an income based form, the parties are allowed to come to virtually any agreement they configure. For example, the party receiving support might agree to a lesser amount if the paying party agrees to pay a portion of extracurriculars. Or receiving party might abate support if she is remarried, even though step parent income is never factored in the calculations. The possible scenarios for parties to agree to go off the form is almost endless, depending on individual circumstances. And I've never once seen a judge reject what the parties agree to, in fact, they normally seem relieved by cases where the parties have reached an agreement and do not require court intervention.
I don't know anything about PA family law, but I find it very plausible that Jon and Kate could have negotiated an agreement that a judge would approve.
I can't envision a self respecting coffee house offering a screening
of killjoy katie and kids.
Maybe MTV will pair it with "Buckwild", W VA's answer to the Jersey Shore?
Nah, MTV has too much class.
Documentaries: Think Frederick Wiseman.
PA has a child support "formula" that you plus in various factors and it spits out the same number. For two parents with identical circumstances it will spit out the same number. At that point you can go to the judge and explain why you think it's too much or too little and he can override the "default" number. In my opinion this is a very fair system. I tend to prefer mathematical, black and white calculations rather than numbers pulled out of a hat.
I think Robert's book faded away because Kate herself has faded away. She has been out of the public eye and off TV for a while. Most people would probably say Kate who at this point. She's a punch line
Don't you love finding a dried up pine needle in June, cracking it and inhaling the holiday scent? Brings back memories, and reminds you that you're halfway there to Christmas again!
The PA income based system sounds quite similar to that of my state. The "form" as I described it is actually a computer program, but started as a paper form, and has just kept it's old moniker. Other than income, the program accepts credits to the paying and receiving parent for health insurance and child care costs. It's simply a numbers in/numbers out calculation. But regardless of what number is generated, the courts here allow it to be disregarded in whole or in part, by agreement of the parties. The rationale seems to be that the parties know better than the courts what the child(ren) need.
Well, sort of, but not exactly. What happens at the hearing is that the officer, who has done the calculations, will present the number to both parties. At this point, negotiations take place. If the receiving spouse thinks it is too low, or the paying spouse says that he cannot pay that much, the officer will ask them if the judge should review it. The parties do not show up before the judge at that time. The officer submits the information to the judge for final determination. It is AFTER the judge has made his/her ruling that the party may request a hearing before the judge.
From the PA CS website...
A recommendation is prepared by the CO following a conference if no agreement for support was reached. The Conference Officer will write a summary of the facts of the case and recommend an appropriate support order to the Court. The assigned Family Court Judge will review the summary and determine whether to approve the support order which has been recommended. Copies of the summary and any order entered by the Court will be mailed to the parties and any attorneys. Either party has 20 days from mailing of the Recommended Order to request a hearing before the Court."
JaninNJ, you must be new here because I don't recall seeing your name before (although my memory isn't what it used to be!). Welcome to you!
Yes, I love finding the pine needles in June (although they hurt if I step on them which is how I usually find them). They remind of a wonderful Christmas past and the new Christmas yet to come.
Courtney PA doesn't allow by agreement of the parties once a support is in place. It's all about best interest of the child. A judge can only modify things if he finds its in the child's best interest and trying to prove a reduction is in a child's best interest is next to impossible, unless they are either spending more time with the other parent, or the other parent is rich.
Think about it. Otherwise one parent could hold a gun to the other's head, or some other threat, and say you better tell the judge you agree to drop my support order and were happy to do it or ELSE. Keeping the focus on the judge deciding what's best for the kids avoids that bad scenario of threats and blackmail.
But I understand other states do it that way. And run that risk of something fishy going on behind the scenes like blackmail.
....Isn't that's exactly what I said only said with more detail??.....calculations first, then go to the judge if you don't agree with your number.
It's nice to see your answer has support, Admin!
It's a good thing to have people agree with you
and back up what you're saying. :-)
Re: Robert Hoffman, I do wish we'd hear from him. Something. Anything. I wish him and his family a very happy new year.
Sure... I'm just confused!
The bottom line is, this idea that filming was somehow used as a bargaining chip simply isn't possible in PA. Other states, maybe. Not in PA. She should have moved.
Thanks,LMG,for the welcome. I've lurked for several years, and posted only a half dozen times or so, usually in response to something that really gets to me. The June pine needles are a very strong trigger for me. Not only does December bring Christmas, but my birthday, my dd's birthday, and my mom (who's gone 10 years now) as well. Secondarily, there are December birthdays for two aunts, two cousins, and my (deceased) grandmother on January 1. The rest of the year, hardly anything! So, December's my month, with a long year in between!
Welcome JaninNJ!!
It's so nice to see so many people popping in now who have lurked for years. I can't believe this blog has even been here "years."
JaninNJ, I understand that feeling of birthdays. Most of my family (including my inlaws whom I love dearly), are in the spring. From the middle of Feb through the end of April, there are 11 birthdays and 2 anniversaries. Although there is not many family things in the summer, in the fall, it begins all over again. You gotta love big families!
Can share what my malaprop-inclined (daily) husband did today? There's a sign on our road that keeps getting stolen. It's a picture of elk with a little sign that says '1/2 mile' underneath. The picture part keeps disappearing. We were coming home and he said "What's in 1/2 mile?" I said, "That's the sign that keeps getting stolen, the elk one, it even has antlers like elk." He said, "That's probably why they steal it." I said, "Yeah, they should put a sign that says 'E L K' up and call it good." He said, "E L K, what's that?" HUH? I said, "What do you mean, it's elk!" He said, "What do YOU mean, I don't get it." Oh my gosh. "ELK, ELK, the animal that the picture is of that we are supposed to look out for the next 1/2 mile!" "Oh." I laughed so hard I soiled myself.
Also, thank you all for the talk many moons ago about pots and pans. Ours are embarrassing, the nonstick stuff is peeling off but I am so cheap. Yesterday I went to Marshalls and they have just the pieces, and I bought 3 beautiful Cuisinart pots/pans with glass lids, lifetime warranty too! They are all washed up and ready to use. Thanks to those who recommended them, I'm anxious to muck them up.
Sorry, but Kate's boring. That's why I usually go off topic.
PJ'sMama...I have been missing stories from your husband. Thanks for another!
PS: Sounds like a great sign. We don't have those around here.
