Really, really off topic, but does anyone have a recipe for spaetzle? I have a spaetzel maker, and the recipes online are so varied, and I want to find one where the dough consistency is "just right."
I think Kate will post about a whole new topic: Family Traditions {{cough}}. Since Valentines Day is coming she'll post about their tradition to, ummm, uhhhhhh....well, she'll come up with some tradition they've never done. Doesn't she always?
Kate Major had a baby with Michael Lohan? Is that the Kate that quit/lost her job because she claimed they had a relationship. He denied that they did.
Has anyone else gone to her Twazzup and got "NO TWEETS?"
I left out Jon in my question. Sorry. The one who claimed to have a relationship with Jon that he denied. She worked for a gossip site or publication.
Never mind, they are there now.
I guess they had enough of a relationship to have a baby together. That kid doesn't have a prayer.

Yes.

Pardon the change in topic, but some time back,didn't some of you discuss plantar fisciitus? I seem to have developed it. Wondered what that horrible pain in my heel was. My own fault,really since I love going barefoot and wearing soft slippers.
What did you do that actually helped?
Thanks!
It all makes sense now: Kate's mostly Twitter silence, the more pro-Kate "take pity on her" articles, the announcement of the blog job ... yep, she is prepping for the release of Robert's book. I would not be surprised she did indeed get some plastic work done in anticipation of making the rounds on the shows. I am torn about this because the book release will put her back in the celeb news. I hope Robert makes the rounds too this time and his book has cleared all the legal hurdles.
Copying the entire blog post could be considered a copyright violation. I know we've done it before but this web site strikes me as one that might not necessarily look the other way. Actual CLICKS on ads are more important than hits, in my opinion. Actually, a ton of hits but no turnover with clicks can actually discourages advertisers, they think they're not getting through.

Don't worry. Kate will pitifully produce something stupid by the end of the day.
If I was Kate, I would have several blog posts completed ahead of time. SO THAT I COULD KEEP MY JOB WORKING FOR THEM, and live my life at the same time.
Silly job opportunity thingies.
The Stir should have known better. Kate only does things when she's good & ready- or when she can get someone else to do it for her.
The Stir has no power over her arrogance.
After all, you get what you get, and you don't get upset.
Um, no one "shit" on Kate Gosselin. Kate Gosselin shit on herself and everyone around her and the book exposed it. I REALLY don't get the infighting. Can't we all just be glad that SOMEONE has exposed the lies? Who cares if it's not you and you don't get your moment of glory, it's not about YOU.
Does Al have proof what he said was false? Pony it up then. Otherwise, move along.

Yes, absolutely. This is what a lot of bloggers do. You take one day out of the week and knock out three, four, five solid blog posts. Bing, bang boom you're done for the month. If I were making $1,000 a post that's what I would do, knock them out and watch the money roll in.
Maybe whoever has the horrible job of editing/deciphering her post at The Stir is pulling their hair out. If her recent twitter comments are any indication, they are most likely bald by now.
I don't know what to tell you. The copyright thing makes me uneasy. We really SHOULDN'T be doing it. We are on the radar right now and I don't doubt for a second there are many people out there angry at us tattling to the Stir about copyright.

I wasn't in the discussion but I did have plantar fasciitis years ago. I have to have extra arch supports in my shoes all the time. (just ones from the store) At first I had custom made ones from a doctor. I followed docs advice on stretching exercises, icing, ibuprophen. I quit going barefoot for extended periods and can't wear sandals or flipflops. Even though I am ok now I can still feel it coming on again if my shoes don't fit right. FYI sometimes adding supports will make your feet hurt at first and you may think it isnt helping but it may mean you need to get used to them so then only wear a few hours at a time.
Do a search for plantar fasciitis on google. Webmd, ncbi.nlm.nih.gov, and mayoclinic.com are good places for treatment ideas. Some other sites try to sell you their miracle cures. I skip those.

From Huff Post:
“Anyone that thinks Kate will let someone attack her and her family should think again,” a friend of Kate’s says. “This book has many problems with it and is something that she will fight no matter how many times it gets re-edited.”
************
Hmmm, I may be missing something, but I don't see this as an attack on the family at all. Hoffman doesn't say anything negative about the kids. It's Kate's words that disparage the kids. Talking about Joel's cluelessness and his blank stare, etc. And yet she says Hoffman is attacking them? The problem is HER attacks on the family, whether physical, emotional, or verbal. Kate needs to own her problem, not blame it on someone else.
"This book has many problems with it". Yes, I supposed Kate has many problems with the book, but that doesn't mean it isn't true. Notice, even her "friend" isn't standing up and saying it's not true or that Kate didn't beat her kids. The friend is issuing what sounds like a thinly-veiled threat, but still won't say that Kate's not a child beater. How telling. I want to hear someone deny it. Either Kate or someone else who actually knows. Not a bunch of clueless followers, but someone with actual knowledge of what goes on.
Kate can fight all she wants, but the truth will prevail. For the fist time, she has found someone (Hoffman) she can't bully into submission. Bravo to him!

I had the same exact thought but forgot to post it. Glad you did.
This book does not attack the kids or the family. Not at all. If anything, this book invites you to feel incredible empathy for the kids and their situation. There is not a single unkind word breathed about the kids except from Kate's own words.

I completely understand about the copyright issue and wouldn't want to do anything to compromise this site. I think those people who read the blogs can simply give a recap along with a link to those who wish to read the actual post. Maybe that's the best way to handle things.
Sillimom, yes, that's a good compromise. Also I have no problem with pulling two or three or four lines from it to discuss, even a paragraph of note. Small excerpts are usually fine and won't get you in trouble. It's when you post the entire post, every blog post, from start to finish that a problem can ensue.

Since I read TMZ often, I knew Michael Lohan and Kate Major were expecting a baby. Plus they were in rehab together. Plus they have each filled charges against the other at various times for domestic violence. Check the TMZ archives, it's the story of an ongoing train wreck.

Just yesterday, Rob's HuffPo article was posted here in full, twice. Why the sudden complete change? All of a sudden, The Stir has you scared? And, this blog is "on the radar" now more than it's ever been? Doubtful, considering Kate is almost invisible these days. Really, this inconsistency makes no sense.
Admin,
On the Disney episode between 14:50 and 14:56 as they are picking Jon said the laptop needs to go in the front of the can. When Kate questions him (imagine that) he tells her so she can do what she wants to with it like journaling. Oh she is so busted I can't wait to read the new book.

@Kateplusmy8 Everyone knows who altered your "trash" Stealing it is 1 thing, stealing it with the intent to harass is ANOTHER .
*************************************
What is it that these people don't get? Trash left out is up for grabs. It is not stealing, and it is not a crime, at least not in PA. I believe New Hampshire has such a law, but Pennsylvania does not. Kate wasn't smart enough NOT to leave this information outside for public consumption. Now she pays the price.
Kate's new post is up. It's called "Spaghetti Parenting" and it's about Cara building a bridge made out of pasta that she entered into the school's science night. She even won a prize.
http://thestir.cafemom.com/big_kid/150311/spaghetti_parenting_photo
Although I dislike Kate not respecting her children's privacy--I have to admit that the blog post was not bad, although it was quite lengthy. It's more about Cara and the project than all about Kate. She actually seemed extremely proud of Cara and that she was able to share the experience with her.
She did point out how she and her good friend "Mr. Handyman" helped, but noted that that was allowed in the rules. Just one quote, which I really hope she means-"I am sure that we all had 100 other things to do that night, but it was so good to go out with a glued-up noodle contraption and support our kids, helping them bridge their hopes from dreams into reality!"
Al Walentis is sounding like a whiny woman. Man up, dude.
"Also yes it is different than the past. I changed my mind."
Just since yesterday, you've changed you mind, and after years of doing this? Should the rules be amended then to prohibit posting of any articles from any other source?
This is after hundreds of articles and blogs have been posted here, including EVERY single one of Kate's Coupon Cabin blogs, weekly for almost a year.
You yourself have stated many times that Coupon Cabin, and now The Stir, have only hired Kate FOR THE CLICKS. You often encouraged people to "take the hit" and go get the blog post to post here so people don't give it too many clicks. Yet, now you're encouraging people to go to The Stir and read her weekly blogs.
The lack of logical reasoning and consistency is astounding.
I know we don't like to give hits to some sites, but would a "link" to a post be a good resolution?

Exaggerate much?
Copyright law, registration and Fair Use are interesting studies to include interpretations. The Stire has copyright registration on it's material and that is why kk can only link her bog on her website. She doesn't even mention the title of her blog series on The Stir. The Stir must own that title as well.
'All Rights Resrved' is on her website. That term is obsolete and has been since 2000.
Even when someone adds a chapter to a new book, that book has to be copyright (re)registerd.
As far as intellectual property goes...lol on that one as far kk is concerned...imo and according to my laugh-o-meter.
I'm sorry you're not happy with the decision, Ridiculous. No one ever is it seems lately. When your blog is being trashed as ensessently and viciously as we have been the past few weeks you might tread a bit more carefully too. Easy to make calls from the couch when it's not you on the line. The fact is posting entire articles is a copyright violation, and while I did look the other way for a long time I never once suggested anything be posted here as you claim. I never said someone should take one for the team. And I was referring to advertising clicks, not total visits to a page. When Aggie posted entire excerpts from Roberts book I actually said I was concerned about that. Go look. Changing your mind is not being inconsistent, it's changing your mind. You have never had a change of heart about something?
Can't win here folks. When I stick to a decision I'm blasted for not changing my mind soon enough. When I do decide to change a decision I get blasted by the other group for being inconsistent and illogical. I'm my gonna lie, the cant please anyone mentality is wearing on me. I'm not referring to those who have been patient understanding and respectful. I appreciate it.
My family's recipe for Spätzle:
~ 1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt(do not leave salt out, but you can experiment with amount to taste)
3-fingered pinch of nutmeg
Combine dry ingredients.
Beat together
2 large eggs
1/2 cup water (milk is you like them denser)
Combine all to form a stretchy dough. Not sticky but not dry.
Bring a big pot of water or stock to a bubbling simmer (not a boil). Drop small pieces of dough into simmering liquid. OR press dough through a colander with large holes (you can also buy a noodle press). When they float to the surface they are done. If they are too dense for your taste add a bit more water (milk) to the dough.
We ate these with goulash served on top.
Sometimes, Grandma take the cooked spätzle and quick pan-fried them in butter (mmmm...)then served them as a side dish with whatever.
OK. I'm hungry. When's dinner. I'll bring the desert :)

Looks like Cara took first place in her division - good for her!
The rules as well as photos are posted on the school's website and the rules say nothing about having help from a "mr handyman" or anyone. Perhaps there were other rules distributed.
Admin, a piece of advice. I would not worry about "pleasing" those who "visit" from another blog..they will critize you (here and over there) no matter what stand you take. I have to admit I am disappointed in the behavior of those on the other blog. I read the blog ona consistent basis, but until last week had never posted. Someone had posted a comment made on this blog, but it had been posted and taken out of context. I posted, respectfully in my view, that very fact. I was immediately banned from the sight. I don't post much here, but read daily. Again, I just would not worry about those who have their own agendas - they just are not worth the worry.

Pardon the change in topic, but some time back,didn't some of you discuss plantar fisciitus? I seem to have developed it. Wondered what that horrible pain in my heel was. My own fault,really since I love going barefoot and wearing soft slippers.
What did you do that actually helped?
* * * *
MH - Some time ago, I developed pain in first my right heel, and later on, in both heels. I self-diagnosed as plantar fascitis, based on the descriptions I read online. I would get out of bed in the morning and literally hobble around, because it would hurt so much. Then, as I warmed up the foot muscles/tendons, the pain would lessen. But if I sat down or otherwise got off my feet, when I would next get up, the pain would return. It was quite miserable!
In my case, I accidentally discovered something that helped. It's a stretch where you slowly bend over at the waist to touch your toes and remain in that position for several long seconds, then you begin to walk your fingers out away from your body. You end up looking like an upside-down V shape. As you do this, you keep your feet planted basically flat to the ground. I was doing this stretch to help my back. But the unintended side effect was that it helped to carefully stretch the tendons in my foot.
When I realized that this seemed to help with the pain, I began to do this stretch daily, once or twice. That, in combination with time, and a good pair of comfortable supportive walking shoes, seemed to do the trick and my heel pain is completely gone.
However, if I wear fashionable shoes (especially heels), I have foot pain again. *sigh* One of the side effects of getting older is that I cannot wear pretty yet unsupportive shoes any more.
* * * *
I think someone (or someones) is/are helping write these newer blogs. I don't think has the ability to write something truly thoughtful, and she also seems physically unable to pass up an opportunity to praise herself at the expense of her children. I've never heard her utter something similar about helping her children "bridge their hopes from dreams to reality" -- hard to believe she's suddenly turned into the sort of person who writes such a thing now.
Cara's Bridge Blog is another example of terrible parenting. All she did was complain about the project, pass it off to someone else (who WAS NOT her father) and then act like a total bitch around the other parents. Screw the idea of learning together and bonding. The Narcissist needed to WIN, WIN, WIN!
Just want to say to Admin - hang in there and try to ignore the bashing. It's the internet - people will all too often say things in a much harsher, ruder manner online than they would ever dream of doing face-to-face. It's to their discredit, not yours.
"Cara came up with a plan for the base of the bridge and our builder friend helped devise the best support system. Together they sat and built ... and built ... and built. It took more than four hours to complete and I kept the coffee coming!" .......from The Stir
So as kk tells it, her master construction friend is in the mix...devising(i.e. designing)the best support system. Well of course he did. The support system is all about the bridge. Design and construction takes into consideration basic (and beyond) physics, engineering and strategic placement of support structures. Granted this was a common type of class/school contest.
Imo, parents should butt out all together on school projects with the exception of providing the materials needed and constructive thoughts.
Let the kids learn! No need for CAD!

Ridiculous, I am one of the two that c/p that article in full yesterday, and I won't do it again. Yesterday Admin hadn't asked that we not do that. Today she did, and I won't, because I don't want to cause this blog any problems. As for KK being ''almost invisible''.....that was true yesterday, but Robert is re-releasing his ebook, AND releasing a hardcover book. I seriously doubt that KK will continue being ''almost invisible'' once the books are released. In my opinion, your complaint is the thing that ''makes no sense''.

Here is another link to try. This will bring up both of Kate's posts, and then click on "Read More" to see the full article. Hope it helps.
http://thestir.cafemom.com/column/adventures_with_my_8
Let me ask this question. I don't want to get people upset or come out with guns blazing. I just want to have a rational discussion.
We all want the Gosselin kids to have a private life. I know Kate brought up the school science fair on her blog but does it give us the right to go to the school website and look at the pictures and try to compare which bridge was Cara's from the picture Kate posted just because we can? Schools put up those kind of websites as a way of communicating with the families that go to the school and and to promote the school to potential students. Yes the school could make the page a members only but like Admin said the other day that would be blaming the victim for what is being done with the info.
Just because the info is out there do we all have the right to use it and access it?
I seriously doubt going to The Stir and reading Kate's entry is going to make a difference one way or the other. I happen to like the articles by several of the writer's there, so I'm going "hit" The Stir no matter what. These particular woman have never mentioned Kate. Those that have, in the past, don't really like her. Leave a comment on Kate's column if you don't like it.
Kate does herself in. Each and every time. Why does anyone would this be different? I doubt Coupon Cabin did not fire her because of all the negative comments. More likely, Kate misrepresented what she could do for them and failed to deliver.
So what if someone changes their mind? I have never liked the fuschia color on this blog. Big f'ng deal. Admin could change the theme every other hour. Again, big f'ng deal.
Millicent, I agree. I broke down and went over to read her post. It didn't take me long to wonder if someone else punched it up a bit for her.
Kiwi, I luv you...and your opinions...and your hubby's recliner...and your sense of humor! You make my day!
Can't win here folks. When I stick to a decision I'm blasted for not changing my mind soon enough. When I do decide to change a decision I get blasted by the other group for being inconsistent and illogical. I'm my gonna lie, the cant please anyone mentality is wearing on me. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Nope, and you shouldn't even bother to try. It's obvious that the post is from someone on "the other" blog who has been trashing this one for a few weeks...anything to get your goat. I also find it interesting that even though others (and the owners of other blogs) have been trashing this blog recently, I haven't seen any bashing of another blog or owner coming from THIS administrator. Taking the high road is always a good thing, and it speaks volumes.
As far as copying and pasting Kate's blog here, personally I wouldn't risk it, nor would I permit excerpts from Robert's book (when it is released) to be pasted as it was before.
Jane said... 59
You're right--the rules have nothing about having help. But Kate said it was "allowed".
One thing she describes is how they wrapped up the bridge so that Cara could take it on the bus the next morning and how worried she was that it might not survive.
However, the rules clearly state that the bridges are to be built at home, and are to be brought to school the night of Family Science Night. So why would Cara bring it on the bus?
I re-read it again, and I take back what I said about it not being about her. She states how the "handyman" and Cara built the bridge, while SHE supplied the coffee. She also describes how SHE "stood guard" over the bridge to protect it from damage before judging.
As I said, it is quite lengthy--but that's only because Kate had to get in all her I and me moments.
Since this was open to all grades, I wonder if any of the children were interested in participating. Or maybe they did, but because Cara won, Kate wrote it about her. Although she did give credit to the building to Cara and her good friend, Mr. Handyman, who just happened to be there, as Kate said "through an unusual stroke of luck".

I will answer your question, then ask one of my own. I believe it is WRONG to go to the school's website, access it, whether you discuss it in a post on any blog or not. I have no problem at all saying that under my usual posting name. Why do you think it is necessary to change your name for this? That is a question for you....I'm NOT upset or blazing any guns...just asking a simple question.

LOL, Jane! I was just about to write that! Deadline for entry was 5:30 p.m. If Cara stayed after school for the fair, and Kate was going to the fair, why would she send the bridge to school on the bus in the morning? Why didn't Kate just take it along with her to the fair?
Dmsay - Back atcha woman! (shhhh - they are going to tell us to get a room).
I find Al Walentis to be a grating personality. Can't believe he's still knocking Hoffman.
"Kate Gosselin: The Stupidest Story in the History of the Universe and the People Who Covered It" by Al Walentis
May I just say that is the stupidest title in the history of the universe? LOL.
Also, for those who want to keep the first edition of Hoffman's book, back when it was first pulled, someone here explained how to save a copy on your hard drive. I can't remember how, but I did manage to save a copy. Maybe someone can post the directions. I think it had something to do with going into your Amazon account.
It's been a long time since I've done school projects like the one described...but does anyone else find it effin' weird for the handyman to be helping out like this? I mean, what, the next time they have a book report due they'll call the plumber for assistance?
A nanny, a sibling or (shock horror!) a parent would be a reasonable helper, but a random guy who does repairs around the house is just plain bizarre.

If C learned about bridges, the structure, support required, etc. then isn't that the point? If C sat in another room watching a Disney video while the guy did it all - that's a problem. Doesn't seem that was the case.
You are most welcome Winsomeone...happy noodle making :)
In the end, only a judge(s) can rule on whether or not copyright law has been breached. Lawyers in cases interpret the law and we all know that the defendant and the plantiff legal reps will have opposing opinions.
Which came first, the chicken or the egg? the internet is a flurry of activity...blogs, tweets, well heck it is never ending. If a blog moderator lets posts go through which may infringe, who accepts the blame, responsibility? The poster, the admin, the moderator, the web domain? It is never-ending.
Post at your own risk is my motto, unless you want to submerge yourself into the the laws and principles of all things copyright. Verbage on any website intended to protect a site and included material does not always hold up in a court of law.
Va Pen Mom,
To save the book on your computer, attach the USB cable to your Kindle and the computer. The Kindle will show up as a drive and you can navigate to where the book files are. Find the book and copy it, then paste on to the computer hard drive (usually C:). Easy peasy.
Remona - I am trying to decide if I want to continue posting by a regular screen name or just keep changing it.
After whats' being going on between the two blogs it seems to me if a person uses the same name, it's easier to be targeted. Someone, friend or foe decides you are self righteous or holier than thou or arrogant they use it as an excuse to go after you and start posting your public info and calling you names- JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN.
Changing screen names might make it harder for, freind or foe to do that to someone
Just thinking about it is all.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&
It looks like it was a FAMILY science night, which means help is allowed. In a construction project, that most likely would mean that a DAD would be the primary helper. Since there are no men in Kate's household, I suppose she relied on the assistance of a handyman, especially if the detailed instructions that she described were out of the scope of her ability to understand.
Jane I am talking about your motivation for going there. You aren't using the site for the intended purpose. It kinds of seems to me that you used it to spy on the kids, which is against the principal of our desire for the kids to have privacy.
I didn't have to go to the site. By posting the info here you took away my choice on if I wanted to know that info or not.
Again no harm intended just my own thoughts.

"It looks like it was a FAMILY science night, which means help is allowed."
Oh, I'm not knocking the fact she had help at all. I saw that helpers were allowed, and I know I had plenty of help on school projects from my family. I just think it's weird (especially with a "family" theme) that the person helping her was the guy that comes around to patch the drywall.
Kate actually did say the person who helped was a "longtime family friend" who just happened to be visiting. She also said he's the sort of guy who "if you name it, he can build it".
I was the one who labeled him Mr. Handyman. Perhaps, I should have called him "Mr. Smith", who seems to be the "friend" she has mentioned in the past as helping with different projects. Remember-he's the one who not only does great repairs but also can cook pizza.

Thank you for your honest response to my question. I understand your thought process now. Before this blog was put on moderation, it was made clear numerous times that trolls believe me to be all the things you mentioned, plus many more.....ALL bad!! I guess I'm either too stubborn or clueless about how the trolls discover your real life name and information to stop using my regular posting name every time. Maybe I'm both? (Stubborn AND clueless)
I hear ya. It's gets old reading it, too.
I haven't seen any bashing of another blog or owner coming from THIS administrator.
One thing I really like about this particular blog.
Hang in there. This, too, shall pass.
Personally, I think accusing posts are probably just from a few people using different names.
I think any post not stated in a respectful way should just be ignored. Don't feel that you need to defend or explain to people like that.
Mr. Smith aka Mr. Handyman aka Steve.
Maybe Kate has a Ms/Mr Writer-person "friend" that is helping with writing. She seems to always find a "friend" to help her with stuff.
As far as the school website is concerned, some areas are public and some require a user name and password.
Like many school sites it's existance is primarily to distribute information from, about and to students, parents, faculty and recruiting purposes. Hopefully information from that site or any school site will be used wisely.
Just catching up.
Admin *has* voiced concern about posting whole articles in the past, but yes, I've seen whole posts be duplicated here.
What I've done and will continue to pull is pull out a sentence or three which is most apropos to my point and provide a link to the entire article.
And yes, on other blogs there has been a laser beam focus on Admin and this blog. I'd liken it to little kids trying to fry an ant with a magnifying glass and giggling about it when the antennae starts to smoke.
The ground has been shifting and Admin is changing tack as she deems necessary.
Don't we all do that in life from time to time?
Roll with it.

I agree. There has not, nor would I expect there to be, trashing of another blog owner/administrator by the admin here. It's done on other blog/s on a daily basis. it must be difficult not to respond, or let loose when you're constantly being criticized or ridiculed. In the long run, though, it pays to take the high road, as someone said.
There are some who just thrive on that kind of thing (s^^t-stirring and trashing) and that goes with them. For others, it's just not their cup of tea. To each his own.
I wonder if Cara's father was made aware of this Family Science Night? If so, I hope he attended.

==========================================
I think they intended FAMILY, regardless of gender, would be the helpers. I know lots of women who are way better at that stuff than their husbands/SO's/boyfriends. We saw so many times on the show Jon do household construction projects. It's sad that C's parents have such a contentious relationship that C's Dad couldn't have been been involved in some way. Somehow, I don't think Jon was even asked. Maybe he was. I don't know.
The part where Kate sounds like "Ms Rule Follower" made me laugh. "Ms. Parks in Fire Lanes", "Ms. Lead Foot", Ms. Leaves Scene of Accident Because She Is A Public Figure" and on and on and on is "annoyed" with perceived transgressions by other parents. Even funnier that perceptions were wrong. Oh, HA HA.
At least she attended Family Science Night. Did Mr. Handyman attend as well to see his 4 hours of "helping" win an award? Had the bridge collapsed, would Mr. Handyman have been called to task?
While I do think that C should have participated in the purchasing of the pasta, did C learn? THAT is the most important thing. If so, it's a win. Prize or no.
Ramona I am not saying that someone can find out your real name because you use the same name over and over on a blog.
What I am trying to say is Say I use the name "BlueRabbit" the name stands out when it is used on a regular basis. Someone decides they don't like BlueRabbit because she is self-righteous it is easier to single out the posts than it is if BlueRabbit used different names.
Not using different names to catfish or be a sybil but just to remain anon from those who want to harass.

Ingrid, do you do the stair stretches with your shoes on or off? Dumb question, I know, but I've been trying to wear supportive shoes since it got so bad. I also got these heel insert things that help a bit.

Admin, please post my last comment and then I'll drop it.
THIS is why you have lost so many posters. There's no reason not to post my comment just because you or others don't agree with me. The two comments I posted earlier were NOT "rude" or "bashing" you, but man, oh man, did some people get all worked up over someone simply questioning you.
All of the blogs are different styles and have a different way of expressing their displeasure with Kate and/or the sheeple. People migrate to where they feel most comfortable. That is just normal behavior. However, I just don’t get the snickering and pointing because you don’t care for a blog’s particular format or how it is run. Just puzzles me…
Since Kate was unaware that the science project was to be taken after school directly to the cafeteria, if Cara was really at Jon's and he helped her with the project. You know if Kate's "writing", she's most likely embelishing or lying.
Your last comment was not posted because you rudely called us sheeple. No thanks.
Without trashing any other blog, what I like about this one is the fact that it's like having a chat with GROWNUPS! Even when we get silly about rumspringa (yeah, I said it), we behave like people who understand civilized behavior and that's rare these days, especially on the net.
I just read some of the comments on Kate's blog. Some just leave you shaking your head. Someone wrote that he/she is sending a copy of the blog to the school to show them what kind of trash were admitted to their school, and says that he/she is sending the local papers a copy as well. FOR WHAT PURPOSE? What would the local papers do about it? What would the school do with the blog? Throw the kids out because their mother wrote a blog?
What is wrong with some people? As Julia Roberts said in Pretty Woman, "Most of 'em shock the hell outta me."
Well, being nit-picking, but it's not fair for students who do not have a handy family / people available to help. or a Mr Handyman friend. My DH is far from handy! I try but need the web as my 'helper' to repair/build things !
Regarding the Copyright Infringement decision - Here's the bottom line. This is the Admin's blog. It is her prerogative to change her policies every day if she so wishes. I personally have no issue with acquiescing to her requests. If you have an issue with it, then you don't have to click the link and come here. No one is forcing you. You have a choice.
Regarding Kate's recent blog - I, too, like several of the blogs I've read on The Stir and don't have a problem reading her blog and commenting on it as I see fit, both on her blog site and here.
One quote from her recent post: In a stroke of unusual luck, a longtime family friend was visiting and is the “you name it, he can build it” sort. He's not an official professional builder, but I knew he could offer some pointers. So, we signed him up to help.
So is this Handyman her equivalent to "Marlboro Man" on Ree Drummond's blog? I'm assuming this is code speak for Steve Neild, although frankly he never struck me as the handyman type so I could be wrong. Perhaps one of the "Crew Daddies"?
Other thoughts:
She speaks about her "dusty glue gun". I thought Kate was all about the crafting?
I think Kate wrote it. It's smack's of her style. She repeats words quite frequently, i.e. ...the parents realized how very competitive we were being. I lightened the mood as Cara's bridge was set into place between two tables 40 centimeters apart by saying “who says I'm competitive?” and everyone laughed... there's not precedent to her comment "Who says I'm competitive?" Was she yelling at the people setting up the bridge for testing? Where did that comment come from?
Anyway, it was another case of Kate trying to turn her life into an episode and she's not a very good writer, in my opinion, although she's not as bad as some I've read. I'm glad Cara had a good experience.

I totally understand this reasoning. Not only that, but other blogs copy and paste the post that you write here to their blog, and then dissect it and rip it apart. Yes, I understand what you're saying. I think that I worry less than you because I don't have facebook or twitter, reducing the places I could be traced. Even though I don't understand the internet well enough to know all the ways you can be traced if you post anywhere, I know that is possible. Maybe it's my advanced age....I am what I am, and anything they could find would be something that my family and friends already know. Maybe I'm just fatalistic. I think that bottom line, I believe the quote from Bernard Baruch: ''Those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.''
Was it Family Night, a gathering to show off a kids work, enjoy the competion, see all the participant's work? Or was it a Family involved in the project Contest?
If it was a student only or family project, seems simple. Most parents assist their kids regardless in some fashion from academics to sports to spelling bees to science projects, book reports, basic studying. We assist and tutor.
Some parents are simply way over the top with winning, being the best...will do anything to see their kid on top, extreme parental involvement. I am sure other parents may have gone beyond the norm( what is normal these days?)..perhaps using CAD, AutoCad,or whatever without consideration of rules. There is nothing wrong with being the best or the not so best. Kids need to explore and learn on their own for the most part, and there should be guidance in every aspect of a child's life. Kids need a challenge and encouragement, accept a win or defeat, hold their heads high knowing they have done their absolute best.
Anyone else think Mr. Handyman is either Steve or the policeman in town that she has had so much "assistance" from in the past. She has said on some tv interviews that she's had a "few" dates but eluded they were no big deal...but then again she WAS on the circuit for a dating show so why would she advertise dating some local guy? It's just a theory....as far as plantar fasciitis..I had that for a year and a half and I bought Dansko shoes and they made a HUGE difference. Expensive shoes but worth every penny!

What the f*ck Administrator, this is your blog.
If people don't like the way you run it, they can email their issue to you, or start their own blog. Why be unhappy?
Anyway, last time I checked, we were all on the same page when it came to holding Kate's feet to the fire, and defending her children. Shouldn't we all get along?
Respect each other, please.
Peace.
There was a true quote used on Criminal Minds last night, I forget the exact quote and originator.
....those in defeat say less and those who win should say even less....
But hey, most parents want to brag about their kid's accomplishments.
I"m happy Cara won her bridge contest. She probably learned a ton from Mr. Handyman and she seems like a smart cookie and hard worker, so I'm sure she earned her win.
I really don't care to dissect the competition rules or when the project was delivered or if Kate was even in the same room when the project was being worked on.
It sounds like a positive experience all around and if Kate showed support, engagement and was happy and proud for Cara, then that's what we all want, especially without cameras, n'est-ce pas?
"THIS is why you have lost so many posters."

----
Who said this blog has lost "so many" posters? Could it be that some, like Changing Name suggested, are now posting under other names?
Eh, I'll speculate about Mr. Handyman, what the hay!
I wouldn't be surprised if it's Kate's BF, but I do not believe it's Steve. If she's dating, good for her. Whoever this guy is must have some sort of interest in Kate because who would take time away from his own family or GF/wife to spend so much time at Kate's house.
He's been there a whole lot, and I doubt Kate was paying him to help Cara with a school project. Just too much giving and interest to be platonic, IMO.
As I said, good for Kate and Mr. Mystery Man. It's been a looooooooong time since Jon has been Kate's love interest. It's normal to move on and way past due.
RemonaBlue, I have the same attitude a you. I am boring and mediocre! Who would be interested? Also in the past, when off moderation, I have seen some nasty names the drive by baa baas called me. Those were swiffered by admin, thanks admin! Call me names? Ok, if that's how you get your jollies, doesn't matter to me. many many moons ago, I worked with very seriously mentally ill individuals. After you have had death threats from people you are providing a service to, let's just say nothing else fazes me much. The name calling just reminds me of the crotchety old guys who post on political sites, or the seriously mentally ill folks. There is not much else in their lives to entertain them, so if being crotchety will do it, great!
Can we please just drop the blog on blog talk, after oh, about two dozen or more comments now? ;)

=============================================
And this is one instance where I wouldn't blame them if they did.
I have read this blog for YEARS and have seen entire newspaper articles and blog posts posted here hundreds of times with absolutely no concern over copyright infringement. Why the sudden complete change? All of a sudden, The Stir has you scared? And, this blog is "on the radar" now more than it's ever been?
That post didn't sound rude and attacking? That sounds respectful? What a great way to start a discussion. Not.
But your post wasn't for purposes of starting a discussion, was it. Sounded to me like it was for the purpose of blasting someone.
Hundreds of times, eh? How much is that? 100? 800? Ooh. A funny! 888 times?
CC blogs = 1x/week = 52. And then she got fired.
Other posts/articles repeated in their entirety happen, but not all that often. Maybe 2x/week? = 104.
No concern for copyright infringment? I remember admin cautioning about this in the past. She probably *should* swiffer posts that don't honor her wishes on this.
The lack of logical reasoning and consistency is astounding.
Well *that* sure is respectful in tone.

I find it sad the way so many are attacking one person who posted here with questions, and who wasn't in agreement with Admin and the "regulars". Accusing every non-regular poster of being from other blogs, and only here to trash or stir stuff up, doesn't exactly help make this a warm, friendly, welcoming place to be.
Could we all PLEASE keep these rules in mind and agree to move on:

Loves to Read, what confuses me is that any response a ''regular'' makes becomes an ''attack''. Disagreeing with each other is NOT attacking each other.
Now I will do as you suggest, and ''move on''. (However that doesn't mean that I'm going to insist that anyone else do as I choose to do!!)
Bottom line is that this is Admin's blog and she can run it how she wants. No one is going to agree with her decisions 100% of the time -- do you ever agree with ANYONE 100% of the time? It's just that here, where we can be anonymous even when using a name, it's easier to snark or be rude or make threats. People come, people go, people change names and it's all okay.
It's very, very easy to create a blog and for those who can't seem to find a way to fit in here, go for it!
I visit so many blogs and I gotta say that, given the subject matter (Kate, Jon, child abuse, more) this blog runs pretty smoothly. Would you rather have a blog like the few remaining Gosselin non-fan and fan blogs where the conversation level is on a middle-school level, not to mention that a lot of what they do is probably illegal?

Since nothing is ever her fault I could see her trying to say her nasty behavior is all due to alcohol and not just her innate behavior. I'm sure Mrs. Steve knew and that's why she continued to decline to have Katie throw a party for her parents. Who hates their parents enough to subject them to a night of Katie?
I hope Robert's book doesn't take too long to come out since I missed it the last time.
It's just horrifying to read and see news about the already 3 day old hostage situation in Alabama. Hard to believe this man is so deranged to abduct a 5 yr old austistic child, so disturbing this continuing war on children.
It is pretty easy to figure out that many of the new names here that are supporting other new names that are attacking the Admin are one and the same person and more than likely the person that is the source of all of the discord in the first place.
Jon had a blog.
What if on that blog, Jon said that "the lady who helps clean my house worked for 4 hours on a project with "whatever kid."?
What if Jon posted a picture of Mady's legs in a sexy post (Hulk Hogan just did this with his GROWN daughter and people are commenting).
What if?
Also, I hope RH sues whoever keeps saying he "altered" Kate's journals. If he altered them, Kate would be suing and screaming LIES LIES LIES from the top of her Twitter feed. She is not. I guess when you admire a child beater your brain doesn't work quite right.
Likes to Read - respectfully, not all posters read here 24/7 (OK, exaggeration, no one does that). Point is, a poster may be reading late in the day, and catching up as they go. While it might seem that a particular subject is still being discussed hours later, it may very well be the poster is just now reading and feels like saying something about it. Real time reading and posting is a luxury for me, so I know what's it's like to be late to the party. I am also one of many who read from the bottom up...thus not knowing a dozen or more posts on something exists.
The poster who had an issue with Admin's decision wasn't very respectful to begin with. The little added snarks, such as "The lack of logical reasoning and consistency is astounding." and the "All of a sudden, The Stir has you scared? And, this blog is "on the radar" now more than it's ever been? Doubtful, considering Kate is almost invisible these days. Really, this inconsistency makes no sense." are, at the very least, inflammatory.

Very good point about reading late in the day and catching up as they go. That is what happens to me, and I think many, if not most, of other posters.
I point I would like to make is to remind Likes to Read that this blog is now moderated. Nothing gets posted unless it is approved by Admin and/or her 'staff'. Admin has never had a problem in the past telling people to ''move on''.....so I don't think I'll worry whether or not another poster is tired of reading what others are posting!! I guess I haven't moved on after all, have I?
What if?.....
Great post and so very true. If only the sheeple, especially the most crazed of the ewes, would understand this.
Thanks, Jane.
The double-standard is blinding.
I personally see no reason to read Kate's blog. But to read it and spend time discussing it and critiquing it seems to me to be a total waste of time. Let her writing stand on its own. It really doesn't matter what anyone thinks of her blogging besides the people who employ her. If you don't like her, don't read the blog and don't waste your time criticizing it.
As far as Cara's project . . . good for her. If she needed help and received it, good for her and the person who helped her. Not everything has to be a conspiracy. It's just real life.

Great line from 30Rock,
Liz Lemon, "If I've learned anything from reality TV it's that you can't keep a person with no shame down."
Reminded me of Kate.
And Snookie.
And Kardashians.
And Bethany .....
I realize the Melissa Gilbert conversation has passed but I couldn't help but notice:
Brinkman
Boxleitner
Busfield.
I wonder if she has some really fancy monogrammed towels that she refuses to part with?
I have to chime in and state my opinion about rules on blogs. If the owner of the blog tells us we MUST read the blog from bottom to top on a Dell laptop computer**, then those are her rules. If I don't want to follow them then this is not the blog for me. She is free to change the rules as they suit the needs of the blog, imo. She is providing a service for us, and we can at least thank her and her staff by
letting her run it the way she wants.
Thankfully, this Admin has not set out ridiculous rules. They are concise and plain.
But sometimes necessity demands that things get
changed to suit the current circumstances and Admin is the person who gets to decide when that is and how it will come about. It's not always an easy decision, but it is hers to make.
The buck stops with her. So, if we come back here tomorrow and find that she has asked that we all read the blog from the bottom up, there must be a reason. I don't think her reason would be "because I can". I think it would be a rational reason that she came to because of something going on.
I, for one, trust our Admin. This is no idol worship, it is simple respect for what she is doing here. So, Admin, rule away!
** Note: of course I know that would be a ridiculous rule, and you know I was pushing it there.
Who was it who recommended that French documentary about a teacher and what was the name of it again? Thank you!

I don't know what to tell you. The copyright thing makes me uneasy. We really SHOULDN'T be doing it. We are on the radar right now and I don't doubt for a second there are many people out there angry at us tattling to the Stir about copyright.
________________
I agree we shouldn't do it because it is essentially stealing content from a legitimate business. I also think that if I am interested enough to want to know what she said, she deserves to get the hit. I don't think that copyright rules will apply to sections and quotes posted for legitimate discussion--especially if there is a link to the article. If people here are interested in her, why in the world shouldn't she be able to benefit from that? I just think that it is irrational and just plain unfair for people to deprive her of all of the negative attention that she has rightfully earned. I dislike her as much as anyone, but I don't deny anyone the right to earn a living.
If people really want her to go away, then stop paying any attention to her and what she does. As long as people care, she will continue to reap the reward.
Thank you Fido and everyone for the support. Believe it or not, I don't make rules just for fun, or to play games, or to toy around with people. Remember when Robert's blog DISAPPEARED? That was because google shut it down because they got a letter. He was able to resolve it, but it took some time. Do we really want to play games with things so tense right now? Do we want to come here one morning and all of a sudden we can't access this blog and I've got a legal mess on my hands? I really don't think it's worth it just to save a few clicks which frankly I think may be overstated anyway (clicks mean nothing if they are not translating to advertising dollars.) That's why a site that gets a million hits a day but can't get people to actually buy anything is worth almost nothing.
Three entities have contacted this blog with issues over the three years we have been here--Disney, TLC, and a photographer agency. This is to be expected with a blog like this and we're certainly not the first. Their issues were all handled quickly and respectfully and it was actually very pleasant to deal with them, but the point I'm making is that these things do happen and we are not immune. And one of these days, we might just have a rep contacting us who is not patient, respectful and willing to work with us to resolve their issue. Why risk it? Over Kate's blog post? Not likely.
I find it interesting that all this is over a stupid blog post about something that should be private ANYWAY, a child's school project. It means THAT much to you to not see the post reprinted here? You can go to the site to read it, seek out another blog to read it, or gasp, not read it at all! I haven't read it, and I am having a great day not having done so. :) Honestly, if you are this upset about a blog post not being posted here, you might want to rethink your priorities.
If people really want her to go away, then stop paying any attention to her and what she does. As long as people care, she will continue to reap the reward.

Ex Nurse I think you have wise words. I think it's a little unfair to expect to have it both ways. People want to look at what Kate is doing but don't want to give her any hits for it. How about just not look. Or, look, but suck it up that a hit will happen. It's like wanting to ride the roller coaster but not wanting to buy a ticket because you don't like the venue--it's not really fair.
Anyway, I see no reason why we can't just post excerpts of interest or snark here and there. It's rare an ENTIRE blog post is worth talking about. The only one I can really think of where we really needed to see every last terrible word was Globe Gate. And that one, we would probably slide by no problem with copyright since the whole thing was necessary for criticism and public comment, a copyright loophole.
Today's blog (bog!) was actually a perfect example, people pointing out things about the bus and the Handyman, things of interest. Seems to me it wasn't necessary to see the entire post to talk about that was it?
By the way, casting my vote that Handyman is Kate's boyfriend. I started thinking that the last time she mentioned him.
Hey in keeping with the Little House theme anyone ever seen the episode The Handyman? It is an absolute cult classic LOL.

Sorry for the lag in my responses. Regarding the context for Jon's single dad comment, I derived the context from the opening paragraph of the article:
"Jon Gosselin recently split from girlfriend Ellen Ross, but he’s moving forward with his held head high, and focused on his eight little ones"
This was published in February of 2012--years after the divorce was finalized. Where are people seeing a context that his references were about Kate? This was one of a few articles that were generated by Jon and Ellen's split.
Yes but Ex Nurse THEY set the context, the writer. They made the thing about Ellen, and framed Jon's comments into an article about Ellen. Who knows what questions they asked him. He made one side comment about how he wishes Ellen well. For all we know they asked him how he feels post divorce but framed it to be an article about Ellen.
The thing that really gets me is it makes no sense to go on and on about all the people he is meeting and how busy he is then turn around and say now that I've broken up with Ellen I have more focus. That suggests to me he was talking about the distraction of his prior life, the show and Kate. Not his current life, which he paints as just as busy--just in a different way, on his terms.
I also have such a hard time believing he would say such a nasty thing about Ellen. That is MEAN, to suggest the person you were in love with and who was frankly very kind to his kids was distracting his focus from them. Cruel. He has been nothing but complimentary of Ellen, pre and post breakup. He has said nothing but nice things about how his kids like her. That comment wouldn't line up with every other nice thing he's ever said about her. It's just not consistent.
Another thing is he said the kids are totally fine about the breakup because he has always been consistent with them--that comment doesn't reconcile with having an issue with his girlfriend distracting his focus. Rather, that seems to speak more to referring to KATE and how she is NOT consistent, if I were going to read into it. Which he HAS implied before, that she is not home, etc.
Maybe he did mean it that way, but it's not consistent with every other thing he's ever said before about Ellen.

It is called hyperbole...
This is a blog that is wholly owned by Admin. If she wants to change the rules all day long, she can. Also, she has expressed, in the past, that one of the other blogs that posted full scans of articles could run afoul of copyright laws. I do not recall a single instance of Admin encouraging posting full articles, and I do remember her cautioning about that exact thing.
What is ridicululous is all of the hysteria and hyperbole, even among people who agree on 90% of the issues. It. is. insane.

The one thing I find very disappointing is the infighting. I feel like most of us agree that child exploitation is a bad thing, and that real amazing changes have happened thanks to Murt and others. Does it really matter if we have an area of grey where we don't all agree? It never did to me, which is why I have no desire and never had to go nitpick about other blogs, or even cared about other blogs. I felt a niche wasn't served so I started this one, it was as simple as that. No need to start flame wars everywhere doing it.
The way I saw it, the more the merrier. It's the old Dave Ramsey analogy, a street full of stores that sell diamonds actually sell MORE diamonds because they all sort of work together, if even unintentionally, to draw a lot of people to the diamond district. One diamond store all by itself doesn't sell as much. Once upon a time, a lot of people who saw something wrong with what they were seeing on TV and took to google to find out if anyone else saw it and ended up at the Gosselin blogs. Who cares which one they wind up putting down stakes at as long as we all agree what we saw on TV was wrong.
I believe in that diamond store philosophy when it comes to this blog, and in my life. I believe very much in coexisting, respecting each other's niches, and not fighting over stupid things.
Grating is a good way to describe him, Virginia Pen Mom. Whiny is another!

Is this the one he labeled "lunatic," or another nutso fan?
How does he know that? He saw Kate's original emails to compare to the "altered" ones?
Wouldn't the very first thing Kate would say is he altered my emails, lawsuit!!!
#thingsthatmakenosense
He didn't yell foul because it didn't happen.
I believe Robert was very truthful in what he gave us as Kate's own words. I am only going with my gut, but I think Robert is legit all the way around concerning this book. I have said so many times.
Funny how authentic journal entries were written by a person who has been described as inauthentic by people in her real life. Strikes me as ironic, anyway.
Do you all really think Kate has a boyfriend? There is some man out there that could put up with her insanity? Shudder....

Absolutely this should have been kept private. Now the non-fans, some of whom have garbage mouths that would make a sewer rat choke, are including the school in their tweets. Kate should have just kept quiet about anything having to do with the kids and their school projects/activities. What was she thinking?
Sorry, that should be "SHE didn't cry foul".

''Is this the one he labeled "lunatic," or another nutso fan?''
~~~~~~~~~~~
The fan that Robert called ''lunatic''. She has insisted from the beginning that Robert ''altered'' KK's emails. Admin.....I agree that it makes no sense, because if Robert had altered KK's emails, both KK and Laverne and Shirley would have been yelling at the top of their lungs that he altered them. The fact that it is ONLY the ''fan'' that is saying they're altered, pretty much 'proves' that Robert did NOT alter them.
If you're a fan of KK's , I guess the only you can continue to support her is to just deny, deny deny. Otherwise, you have to admit that you don't care that KK not only abused the dogs, but brutally abused her children! On twitter she said, ''I have book. Didn't read it. I read a couple excerpts. Whatever happened, happened 6 years ago. People change.''
Well....SOME people change. I believe Jon changed.
Stand yer ground Admin!! We have broad shoulders! As said, if they are talking about us, then they are leaving some other poor soul alone! They are just JEllus!!! lol...
Kate's blog was rather wordy, but somewhat better then her others. I wish she wouldnt use the kids names....
BUT.. her blog was nothing more then a reminder of how stupidly competative parents get and NEED to have thier child WIN!!! I have no patience for Parents who have to stroke their egos off the backs of little kids. Sure Kate's kid had a handy man help... how many other kids, had mom or dad start out sitting beside child helping and ended up with the kid in the other room watching tv while parent sat at the table with glue gun in hand creating the best master piece.
Parents were MAD ( Kate herself was upset) that it appearrd other parents had " broke the rules" , the parents, including kate, stood and "protected" their child's spagetti build while the kids were walking around having a good time.
Kate ended her blog by stating she felt so connected to the other parents because of their competiveness, and that is such a good thing......????
I shake my head again.... ah..some mothers do have 'em!!!
I still think this blog is THE BEST!!! There isnt any swearing, and that which does occur is bleeped, which is good, because IMO I believe that excessive swearing means: Limited Vocabulary and lack of control!!
Do you all really think Kate has a boyfriend? There is some man out there that could put up with her insanity? Shudder....
But Jon is not given the same courtesy? He is still vilified for his Ed Hardy day choices.
How many years ago was that? When will the statute of limitations run out on those?
I'm not entirely convinced that Kate threw away her hard drive. Honestly, I wouldn't put it past Jon to have backed up her computer and then "conveniently" thrown away the disks. It was a nasty divorce and he was getting reamed both in court and in the press. I'm sure he felt Kate was the cause of all his problems at the time (I think he's gotten a bit more perspective since then, or at least he appears to have). She, or her team, were certainly leaking information to the press. I'm sure he felt it was a case of "tit for tat".
In the long run, I don't think it really matters. I'm glad Robert is getting an opportunity to publish his book again. Hopefully he found a good editor this time and the book will flow better.
But the reality (so to speak) is that Kate really is a has been. I'm not too worked up by her blog gig (although I wish I could get paid a $1000 a post. That's a sweet deal!). Like many things in her life, Kate has shown little stamina for work, even easy work like this. She is her own worst enemy. This is new and exciting and it will hold her interest for probably a month or two at the max. Then she'll complain it's too much for her to handle. At least, this is my prediction.
In the meantime, I will continue to come here and enjoy wonderful articles and discussion like the ones about Little House, Jodi Foster, Lance Armstrong, Dance Moms etc. I'll enjoy reading about the happenings in everyone's lives. And if I want a little reality fix about a family with kids, I'll just look to my own life. I'll occasionally check in to see if there's anything relevant happening on the Gosselin front because I do wish the best for those kids and for their parents too, actually.
There isnt any swearing, and that which does occur is bleeped, which is good, because IMO I believe that excessive swearing means: Limited Vocabulary and lack of control!!
===========================
If you can't make your point without using using the F word in every other sentence, then your opinion or argument was rather weak in the first place. A town in Massachusetts voted to slap a $20 fine on anyone who was caught cursing in public. I wonder how much has gone into their coffers in the past year!
I always thought that excessive cursing is a tool used by complainers and whiners with a limited vocabulary, and may lead to being unable to think of any other way to verbally express oneself.
But what the bleep do I know? :)
The thing I have a problem with is, imo, Jon had to have known if Kate abused the kids. If its true, why didn't he speak up? He may have even gotten custody. Why would he have left the kids with their abuser?
Jendi
I was reading the comments on Kate's blog post. As usual, they're either praising her or dissing her. However, I think this was the best of all of them:
"Please quit using the exclamation points. Not everything you write is that exciting!!!!"
I think if you swear it's also a matter of respecting your audience. There are people here who say they swear in their real lives--but don't here. There are a variety of people here, some who swear, some who don't, some who may be quite bothered to read it--and so it shows just basic respect of your audience to avoid it when you're speaking to such a diverse audience. If you don't swear, you won't offend either group, the people who swear and those who don't!
Personally, I cannot drop the soap in the shower without letting loose the S word. Not possible. It's just a tradition hehe.
Admin, got a new documentary we can watch and discuss?
I like hearing about interesting documentaries, I have watched a few that were discussed here. Otherwise would never have heard of them.
also, what are people fixing for super bowl parties? Or are you going out? Or... Do you say What Superbowl?
I am getting some Little Smokies tiny hot dogs and marinating in Sweet Baby Rays bbq sauce. Neighbor is hosting party. I usually find football boring, but the group viewing experience is fun.
Admin said: Personally, I cannot drop the soap in the shower without letting loose the S word. Not possible. It's just a tradition hehe.
lol, I just channeled George Carlin's 7 dirty words from "Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television'.
---------------------------------
Exactly. There are other blogs in which the posters present insightful, well-thought out opinions, but I can only take so much of the f-word and c-word until I think -- ENOUGH!
So why is it that posters on this blog respect their audience and don't swear, but on other ones, cursing is commonplace?
I, too, have muttered the s-word under my breath when I'm all settled down in bed under the comforters, and either the dog needs to go out, or I have forgotten to take out the trash.
Absolutely this should have been kept private. Now the non-fans, some of whom have garbage mouths that would make a sewer rat choke, are including the school in their tweets
888888888
What is puzzling to me is that these non-fans, in tweeting hateful innuendos to the school,. fail to realize that by doing this they are actually throwing sympathy in Kate's way. She's made to look like the poor, undeserving victim of a bunch of cruel, crazy haters.
The clean language is just another way this blog has evolved. It used to be that posters were flinging all kinds of foul language into their comments. It was almost unreadable, IMO, and seemed so juvenile. Now, that has changed
and the posters now do have a vocabulary and a sense of restraint, which I very much appreciate.
I was raised to believe that your argument loses more and more credibility with each foul word you use. After about 3, I'm done trying to
even figure out your point. Changes in the social atmosphere haven't changed that with me.
Foul language turns me off and I am SO glad the
posters here have left it in the past. Thanks.
Nobody has to agree, and I'm not trying to stir things up. It was basically just a comment about another evolution of this blog that I have noticed over the years.
Joy I'm trying to track down that French documentary about a one room schoolhouse for our new review. I don't expect to get to it though until late Saturday if not Sunday, if all goes well!
I wonder if when a blog has evolved to be a certain thing, such as a blog that really doesn't swear, it becomes more uncomfortable for most posters to buck the trend. So they just sort of go along--i.e. they don't swear. Same with a blog that is swearing, if it's all over the place people fall into it easily.
I've noticed this in social circles too. I have friends who swear a lot and you tend to just sort of talk the same when you're around them. When I'm with other friends who don't curse I just naturally don't curse either. Humans naturally want to go with the flow, I think. That doesn't mean falling in line like soldiers over every little thing, but, the general flow is not something most people like to try to stop, it's not comfortable. That's what a troll is so obvious because most people like flows, and trolls disrupt that.
Well...I did use some words when I failed for the 263497463th time trying to turn Blue. I don't consider those curse words, and am always surprised when others do. I have a mouth like a drunken sailor (was once married to one) but as Admin said...I am careful to keep the cursing down when I'm around those who don't believe obscenities are a valid second language as I do.
I guess it's just not something I do. I don't curse no matter who's saying what. That does not make me better, it just means I am so uncomfortable with it that even if it's everywhere around me I refuse to participate.
I don't like how it makes me feel. It's not at all natural for me. I would be doing it just to fit in, and I would be "inauthentic" (!)
I think of it like drinking. I don't drink, and if everyone at dinner is having a glass of wine, I still have water or tea. It's not a judgment call at all. It's just not something I want to participate in. I don't like how it makes me feel.
Everyone to his/her own. That's my motto.
Fido good motto. The flow I have in mind is subconscious. Fido, would you make an exception for Rumspringa?
Nah, no Rumspringa for Fidosmommy. But I'll take a nice cup of hot cocoa. Marshmallows or not, it doesn't matter. ;-)
Do you all really think Kate has a boyfriend? There is some man out there that could put up with her insanity? Shudder....
***************
If there is, I feel for the guy. But, if she does have one, where is the outrage from the sheeple about her allowing a man to be so intimately involved with the kids and to stay in their home (as they do with Jon)? snark
If she does have a bf... it's the usual double standard from them. Unless they don't think she has one and think this guy is just a "family friend"/repair guy (which is a joke). IMO, who or whatever he is, he's much more than what she's saying.
The clean language is just another way this blog has evolved. It used to be that posters were flinging all kinds of foul language into their comments. It was almost unreadable, IMO, and seemed so juvenile. Now, that has changed
-----------
I think that is because virulent hate and foul language go together. This blog is simply too civilized for many of the non-fans. Those are the ones that have left this blog and turned their venom on admin and some of our regulars. Haterz hating...what a shock!
admin--
You have done nothing wrong. You have been a great custodian of this blog and have provided a safe environment for your posters. No one is perfect, and, who really wants to be anyway?
When I 1st started watching Jon and Kate....I was in awe...wanted to know how the hell they did it. 8 kids? damn. Then it became so clear to me that kate was a bitch and Jon was a sucker.I found GWOP then found a better blog...this one. Like the opinions here and not getting attacked.
Then as much as people couldn't stand how and what kate was doing ...they watched. They couldn't skip a day and watch a re-run...they were posting everything. No spoiler alerts needed...it was taking one for the team!!! Every excuse in the book for watching...I lost my remote....woke up to TLC on and had no choice...my 3 year old was watching I could not say no or change the channel...I had 2 broken legs woke up in the hospital and TLC was on my tv...ect ect bla bla bla...
I only know what kate is doing from this blog...its the only one I check into.I have no facebook...or twitter...or anything else.
The way to let kate fade out is to give her NO attention.
So...is Roberts book ready to come out again? This is the way to end kate...Re-tell the truth....direct people to Roberts book.
Kate Gosselin is a child abuser and an animal abuser!!!!!!!!!!!
I find it hard to believe that Alison Arngrim isn't jealous of her former co-star's. After what 30-40 years this is the only claim to fame she has?
Her stand up routine and book is pretty much everything LHOTP.
Without Little House,no one would know who the heck she was/is.
Most of the cast went on to do other movies and tv shows....Can you tell me anything that Alison did after Little house?
Not everybody wants to be a star. Alison has a sucessful marriage and has been an activist for many years. She and Melissa Gilber are still friends which out doubt would be the case if Alison was resentful and jealous.
I never got the feeling Alison ever wanted fame and noteraty and, as far as I know she never became an addict (MG did) and has not had mutlple marriages trying to make herself feel better.
She seems happy for who she is. Again, not everybody craves attention and stardom. Personally, I think she is more successful for having a long-term marriage.
What has the Melissa Sue Anderson done? How about the twins that played Carrie?
Why does lack of a big public persona and a large hollywood career mean she should be jeaulous of her best friend? I also don't see Alison getting tons of surgery, doing shows like DwTS or constantly looking for validation in men.
I like Melissa a lot but I hardly think she's someone to envy enough for resentment from Alison.
I'm not entirely convinced that Kate threw away her hard drive.
Yeah. Me either. It could be true, but seems a little fortutitious, imo.
Jon had to have known if Kate abused the kids
Or at least suspected it. Abusers are clever though, about not having any witnesses.
He probably saw/heard verbal and emotional abuse, and rough handling. Physical abuse she may have kept hidden.
Although she seems completely incapable of controlling herself, so maybe he did see things.
Sure would be interesting to hear his truth.
