ABC officially announces Kate on 'Wife Swap'
After months of rumors, it's official. Kate will swap places with Kendra Wilkinson on the premiere of Celebrity Wife Swap, February 26th. The poor Gosselin kids. And poor Hank Jr.!

It's good to hear that you're feeling a bit better. 15 days is a long time to be in the hospital. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
I think all porn is degrading but I have no need to try to stop it or judge people for viewing it or judge people's parenting based on that alone. I once met quite a successful porn star in the African American community and she was very sweet and had two kids who she was great with. She also was on twitter and had like hundreds of thousands of followers but outside of that she just lived a normal life. You would never know.
Perhaps tomorrow we could have a "virtual" swing by Lukebandit's to cheer her up, bring flowers and food and other goodies. Joy is usually our resident tour guide.
I'm still up, and ready to find the best route to visit Lukebandit! What region of the country are we heading?
On Tuesdays I watch Face-Off on SyFy cable channel. Fun fantastic makeup competition! With McKenzie Westmore hosting, I know someone else here must remember that crazy soap opera Passions she was on. And her dad Michael Westmore worked on many of the Star Trek suites, he'd is on as a mentor to the contestants. Besides NCIS, I think competition will also be American idol- not sure because I got bored with the Mariah and Nicki show and stopped watching.
Anyway, CWS us something ABC had in the can to full a spot, and they should expect it to get slaughtered in the ratings, but the production costs are probably low, so not too much damage overall. Happy Endings is a fairly good show with an interesting ensemble of actors, maybe it will find an audience on Friday.
Ms Kreider is boring.
On the other hand, college basketball is not boring! Saturdays games were fun to watch. Kentucky and Tennessee, ODU and William and Mary, VCU and Georgetown, and more. The fields is wide open, and it will be exciting to see who gets to the NCAA tournament.
Whoops, I meant VCU played George Washington University. And beat them too. GW had to play the Rams at their home court in Richmond. The crowd there is... Really, really loud. Really loud. And enthusiastic. And the pep band, the Peppas, are outstanding. Any visiting team has a disadvantage just by playing on the home court.

I honestly don't care about Kate anymore. She is who she is, refuses to get help for her mental health diagnosis (which HAS been documented by her own journals). If they weren't real, Kate would have been all over it on Twitter in a minute. Sometimes, you just can't deny "reality." She did try to get it shut down, but TLC intervened only because THEIR contracts were exposed, which had nothing to do with Kate.
Regardless, her 8 minor kids, who she has been using for 8+ years deserve to grow up out of the spotlight with some privacy after all they have been put through- they are not a circus act for you sheeples. I honestly don't care what she does on her own without the kids, as she screws up everything she touches. Time and Time and Time again.
The only people I feel sorry for are the kids, who have never been given a dose of a normal life, as Kate continues to repeatedly post pictures and blogs about them non-stop. How embarassing for them. The kids have earned the right to privacy and to develope as normal kids do once and for all. If you don't think Kate's constant need to use them (film, tweet, blogs, photos, choices, and general selfishness) impacts on these kids every day of their lives, you are living in an alternate universe. This is for sheeple. Wish they would worry more about the 8 kids, rather than their own needs for "celebrity worship/kinship" of/with Kate. It really is quite disturbing.
All 8 of these kids have more than earned their right to privacy, without Kate using them for her own glory. Try thinking of the kids first, and how they feel about all this, and you may get a clue, that these kids need a break. They were not put on the face of this earth to entertain YOU. Leave the kids out of all Kate's self-absorbed non-stop messess. These kids deserve much better. It is ashame their own SUPER mom does not get it. And if you think they don't suffer backlash from Kate's selfish choices, think again.
2 kids supsended from school, 2 tweens acting out badly on RV trip, and 2 boys who barely speak. And you sheeple think continued filming of kids is good for them? Just look at how she speaks to them.
No malice towards the kids, actually advocating for them, as they have had NO voice in Kate's self-absorbed circus. Again, could care less what Kate does, just leave the kids out of it and let them have some privacy. I promise you sheeple, Kate can get a job without using her kids.

I wouldn't pick my dogs up by the hair and believe me, I have one that still has accidents from time to time. You just deal with it with compassion.
From my observations and listening to moms, I understand that perhaps boys are a bit tougher to potty train and tend to train later. My nephew didn't train until almost 4 1/2 and I don't think his mom had a fit after FIVE WHOLE DAYS of potty training.
That's no time at all and I don't get why Kate just put such high expectations on the boys when it just doesn't happen that way. I think having 6 at once made Kate think she knew it all and that no mom any where or any time could possibly be a good source of advice. If she did seek help by reaching out or reading a fricking book, she'd have known to chill out a bit and not expect 2-3 year olds to go from diapers to fully potty trained in 5 days.

It's the hypocrisy of the situation that disgusts me. Here's Kate, your good Christian woman, who was brought up by a minister, attended a religious school, brags about going to church, leaves scripture stuck on bathroom walls, talks about God and morals, speaks at churches preaching about God and values, and His will, etc. etc., and then leaves her kids with a woman who has distributed a sex tape for the world to see. The twins are almost teens and you can bet that they know exactly who Kendra is and association with Heffner, Playboy and the sex tape. If they didn't find out on their own, their classmates would have told them. Kids aren't stupid. Somehow I seriously doubt those poor kids are, ever have been or will be in the future 'proud' of their ridiculous, fame ho of a 'mother'.
She is hitting rock bottom but doesn't have enough sense to bow out gracefully....even if only for the sake of the children she claims all of this is for. It was never FOR them. This has always been about Kreiders never ending dream of cushy, pampered, celebrity life. Alas, like her BFF Jaimie told her, she ain't no Angelina and that KILLS her!
Although she will never suffer enough for what she has put those kids through, I am gleefully happy to know that she will never get over not being able to get what she wants more than anything in this world....to be a STAH. I was reading earlier comments about this wife swap episode and had to jump ahead to make a comment. My apologies if it was already mentioned but could not read everything before I wanted to post. With EVERY other episode there is a second parent or guardian of those children when a new mom and strange camera crew are in the house. We all know Kate is an abusive unfit parent but, even worse she abandons the children for at least a week with a strange woman and strange film crew, with NO GUARDIAN present! A babysitter, if Ashley was there, is not appropriate. It was bad enough when tlc filmed the children for the weekend Kate went to NYC alone, but they knew the crew well enough, still not ok. Any minor child on a reality show should have a parent or guardian present. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Under any circumstances. If their father was with them the entire time, fine. But alone. With maybe a babysitter? Not acceptable. The fact that ABC condoned that set up and not surprised Kate had no problem with it, who are we kidding she is no mother, is of the absolute worst in bad judgment that I have ever seen on reality tv. A parent should always, without any exception, be present with the camera. I totally get why those kids would be upset. I would be very upset. Who is there to give the ok to film a particular activity? Say, the kid doesn't want to do it, the kid gets hurt, the kid is harassed. Ashley is not a legal guardian. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong!! This is what bothers me more than anything in this whole trashy, train wreck show.
I feel so bad about the twins having to feel responsible for the younger kids. What a terrible thing to do to them.
I had a similar childhood. Never was able to just be a kid. Even now at age 62 I *still* feel responsible for the younger ones, who are in their 50's and are responsible adults. Hard to let it go. I will probably feel responsible for them til my dying day.

It is just plainly disgusting that Kate used her Christian mom status to become popular in the beginning. We saw all those scriptures posted everywhere, tee shirts w/scripture passages, and filming at church. Now, with the image change to fit whatever Kate wants to be, we have a Kendra want to be look alike. Not pretty at all.

How Kate explained it all to the kids is anyone's guess. She probably told them, "Mommy has to go away awhile for work, but don't worry Ashley will be here" and then left it up to Ashley to explain what was happening.
Ally-I totally agree. There was no guardian present, unless it's possible that she named Ashley "temporary guardian" in her absence.
Admin-is that at all possible? I know my daughter has a form set up about who can take responsibility for her kids if she and her husband are not available or can't be reached in an emergency.
By the way, some people have mentioned how the filming ruined the kids' Columbus Day holiday. Columbus Day was on the 8th, so filming wasn't done then.
It seems like M and C have also been in the habit of comforting the tups when K8 is mean to him. When K8 threatened to throw out the chewy because of gum, M comforted (Aaden?) and advocated for him that it was his special item. I recently re-watched the interview which followed the watergate on GMA or whatever. Alexis is acting out, swatting her brothers and K8 grabs her by the shoulder roughly and tells her "hands to yourself do it NOW!" (wonder where Alexis learned to be physically aggressive). Anyway, just as they cut back to K8 and away from Alexis you can see M reaching forward to comfort Alexis.

Someone upthread talked about Kate choosing to do an episode with a porn star, and how that goes against her Christian "principles". I understood that neither Kate nor Kendra knew with whom they were swapping houses. So, in all fairness, I can't really see how the other person being Kendra can be put on Kate's list of faults. She didn't know.
Now, doing the show at all, leaving her kids for a week to do this show at all, I can see the issue.
Of course, I find it VERY hard to believe that Ms. Control Freak Kate Gosselin didn't demand to know exactly what was going on and who would be in her house. I can't picture her saying, Oh, OK, whatever. Just don't Grow my Boyfriend

Both Mady and Cara both apparently learned empathy for the younger kids, which Kate still seems to have not learned. Not unusual for older siblings to take on "role" of parent occassionally, but when it is regularly expected by the parent, I can guarantee the older 2 doing the "babysitting/parenting" for long periods of time, exhibit resentment of having this role. M & C are only 12 years old.
Kate is, was, and always will be the great delegator. And there is no need for a nanny 4-5 times a week at this age, but again, Kate is great at constantly delegating her parental duties. With 6 kids in the SAME grade, SHE should be guiding them all through homework, etc... Instead, she is busy reading twitter, dealing with her "bullies," and busy checking media sites, emails from Milo, etc.. for feedback on herself. PRIORITIES Kate. Get some.

The kids didn't have school the 12th or 15th, so it would have made more sense to film while they were home. They did have school from the 16th to 19th, so Kendra wouldn't have had them around except for a few hours in the evening.

Again, I take great offense with Kate's description of work and her "career". This is what pisses me off: her constant references to being on a new project ("work") and it being fun, fun, fun and a great time being had by all. Yay!!! Who says that? I'll tell you who. A pampered D-list a__hole who thinks she has something to offer the TV world. Kate has never shown any acting ability and has never shown one iota of talent as an actress. I wonder if she is going to do a sexy scene on CWS, like a photo shoot that Kendra would normally do. They get to switch places for a day and Kate gets to be a sex kitten. Wonder what Kendra thought when she opened the 'rule book'? Bet the long list of instructions included googling herself each morrning so she would know what she had to 'deal with' each day. Probably meant calling the morning shows to 'set the record straight' or calling chris to take a picture to show how much distaught or iverworked she 'looked' to match whatever article was floating around. That must showed her how big of a trip Kate's ego was on. I thought that was the dumbest thing ever said or done to herself when I heard her talking about it on a DWTS interview.

I take it Kate's done another reality tv project. I think that's her future. Maybe she should hook up with Gary Busey.
So the Neanderthal beast filmed wife swap back in October. There was no husband. Did she use her grow a boyfriend, a gia pet or whatever the hell her grow a blob is for the surrogate daddy or did ABC's film crew fill in for her nonexistent husband? Did Steve stay at the house with her babysitter Ashley? I doubt ABC promised Kart anything other than another free trip for filming the premier show for their new season. Hopefully the show will tank and NCIS and Betty White will kick her ass in the ratings. As far as I'm concerned, Kendra's also had her 15 minutes of fame already. Although I do think bimbo Kendra will be the featured wife, since she is married to a real husband and Kart is only hooked up with her married bodyguard, grow a boyfriend, bottles of wine, a handful of crazy fans who want to be with her, and chickens. If this bothers you so much, you should not ever watch a television program featuring children. There are no minimum qualifications for an on-set guardian. I have a friend who worked as one, and he was indeed a paid babysitter. He just happened to be on a television set.
Wonder what Kate Gosselin has planned for the kids Spring Break, March 1st, or did it creep up on her; again! Kate most likely will have the kids doing "chores" and planning "mother's birthday party" or kids stay home with a sitter while Kate goes on pre-birthday trip cause she just needs a "break".

You know, admin, I agree about respecting others choices. I am an old hippie who participated in lots of free love and free drugs--irrational exuberance as W. said. Once I had kids, my outlook changed. In looking back, I think that I instinctively recognized that all of my choices would be in my family history and would be the legacy I leave for future generations. I wish that all of the Barbie dolls out there would consider this when making their decisions. Hank Jr's friends will all be able to view Kendra's sex tapes. Talk about a legacy... How horrible would that be?
I believe in recovery and redemption--but, that involves a lot of very hard personal work and changes in attitudes and behaviors. While I have never shared all of the details of my past, I have shared edited versions and the lessons learned with my children.
It is all well and good to accept others' decisions and that people aren't defined solely on their actions. But disregarding the power that those decisions hold on our children's futures is just plain cluelessness.
I think that the problem is that Kate and Kendra don't seem to learn from their mistakes--therefore, they are doomed to repeat them.

Tucker's Mom 16...You're right with regard to potty training. My older daughter was trained at two and my younger daughter at 22 months. My grandson, however, didn't train until 3 1/2 for peeing and 4 1/2 for pooping. We didn't make a big deal out of it and when he was ready he did it. In the big scheme of things, it was minor.

Wonder what Kate is doing for the kids Spring Break, March 1st, or did it creep up on her; again? Kate will either have kids doing chores or planning Kate's birthday party or most likely Kate goes on a mini pre birthday trip with Steve. After all Kate has had a rough winter; being at the house with, count them, eight kids!
OT. Home, sweet home! I'm back from my trip to Nashville and Memphis. I had so much fun and seen so much. It was my first visit to the US and regret not having seen some of it sooner. I loved the Grand Ole Opry, Gaylord Opryland Hotel, a visit to the Meade Plantation, the history on our walk through the Centennial Park (Mall) of Nashville, Graceland, the ducks in the Peabody Hotel, Beale Street, Sun Studios, my Valentine supper in the 5 star Peabody Hotel Restaurant, just to name a few. I've read up on the Civil War and have seen some of the war sites. You all (y'all) have such a beautiful country. The food was delicious, I tried many of your traditional dishes, even fried green tomatoes, loll. My only regret is that I weighed myself and have gained 6.5 pounds, oooffff!
Sorry, I've not read through all of the comments yet, I still couldn't care less of what's going on in Kate's life, loll, but I had to let everyone know how much I enjoyed my trip.

There's been mention a few times of the stale cereal lady. According to her blog, she's signed her first book deal for a romance novel, ages 17-24.
I wonder if Kate will help her set up the signing tour...

Anyone, including Kate, who gets so stressed out by the short period of time potty-training takes better have a lot more patient for the reserve-draining, wearying phase of adolescence that goes on for years on end.
I'm reading Brandi Glanville's (RHOBH) new book (don't judge ;0) - it's interesting and well written).
She comments on cyber-bullying, and starts off by talking about teenage girls getting bullied online for their looks, and the gay teen who committed suicide after video of him was taken by his roommate. She calls these "...real, serious, and tragic accounts of cyber-bullying."
She goes on to say:
"When you choose to open up your life via social media and allow random people to interact with you, you can't get upset if someone in Middle America wants to call you fat, ugly, or perhaps, a home wrecker."
And my favourite line:
"If you can close your computer or turn off an app without the repercussions of actually having to deal with these people in your real life and not your cyber life, it's not f**king bullying."
Just thought this was interesting, as both Brandi and Kate are reality figures, both are "infamous" for one thing or another, but clearly, Brandi gets it, while Kate is clueless (and of course, the victim).

Mel, I had the experience you did. There are six of us. I'm the oldest and the youngest is seven years younger than me. My sister (who is 15 months younger than me) and I were totally responsible for the four younger children. To this day, not only do we feel responsible for them, but they STILL look to us as the ''parents''.
The Gosselin twins not only feel responsible for their younger siblings, but they ALSO are in the terrible position of ''parenting'' their dysfunctional mother. That is a heavy burden to bear for those girls! I just read something about parentification here....don't know how to make it clickable.

My sister left her 3 children when they were young. Her daughter was 10 and took on a lot of the responsibilities at home so she could help her father. When my niece was about 14 and visiting with us, I stumbled and said, "let's call Jane, oh I mean let's call your mother". I will never forget her response, she said, "you mean my mother, my child". Even as a young girl she knew she had a greater sense of responsibility and maturity than her own mother. I fear Mady and Cara are going through a similar experience, watching their mother live her dream no matter who is left behind.

Sadly, I think that is her new M.O. Jon is not around and I'm doing this ALL by myself. Hence the "dropping" child support and not mentioning him anymore. She can't act so obsessed with him if she wants to pretend he's not in the picture, so she had to stop.

KK will never do as you suggest, because she is never wrong. She is always right, so how could she be wrong? KK will never apologize for anything. Period. She is never wrong, so what would she possibly have to apologize about?
She could have used the Bill Blankinship incident to absolutely balloon her public persona and reform her image. Here's how a creative PR person might have handled it:
She could have said I trusted Figure 8 that my kids were safe and I was deceived. My children could have been seriously violated as a result. I want to make sure that this never happens again to any other parent whose child is passionate about acting. She could start a child actor protection charity, or teamed up with Paul Peterson, teamed up with Rep Murt. The media would go nuts.
It would have been a media frenzy, Kate the face of child protection. Kate the "victim" whose children were exploited while she was assured they were safe, something terrible could have happened, how "brave" she is to take a stand for child performers so this never happens again. What a blessing nothing terrible happened but she will make darn sure it never does. She would have been the hero and no one could with a straight face fault her for trying to use a terrible incident for good. She might have even converted some of her "haters" if she were sincere about it. Every move Murt and Petersen made suddenly would get a lot more media because Kate would be there by their sides. Huge boost for her.
Instead she decided to pretend she didn't know him. Opportunity LOST. GONE.

The flaw in that plan is that Kate would have never followed through with shutting down filming. At least for a time, that would be the only sane thing to do, while investigating the situation fully.

She was too lazy to do any kind of investigative work. They puffed her up and she loved it. She had no clue that these were kids (or both of them was actually one person). She probably figured that it was an adult who thought she was hot, they paid attention to her, wanted to be her protection against bullying, and bringing the haters down. She heard them defending her, and she was flattered.
It looks like the Mad British Guy is back on a blog, trying to do some kind of negotiating, and threatening to go forth with his plan if negotiations don't work out.

What a tragic end to a troubled life. She had 2 young children, I believe. I'd never heard of her before seeing her on one of Dr. Drew's addiction rehab shows a few years ago and I was struck by how serious her problems seemed to be and how strongly she denied she was ill. So sad.
Wowser and ex nurse, congrats on the upcoming grandchildren. My neighbor just had her first grandchild and she is enthralled with the little guy.
Thanks for mentioning Killing Lincoln was on! The dh and I just watched it. Very good. I have toured the White House of the Confederacy and they filmed the scenes of Lincoln visiting right there. It is all well and good to accept others' decisions and that people aren't defined solely on their actions. But disregarding the power that those decisions hold on our children's futures is just plain cluelessness.

Right, that pretty much sums it up. Even if kids aren't physically in danger being around someone like Kendra it doesn't mean there aren't moral dangers, and most obviously, embarrassment.
I think there is a difference between accepting someone's choices even if you don't agree with the lifestyle, and letting your kids around them. Oddly enough though questionable moral decisions when it comes to kids are the least likely to be disturbed in a legal sense.
And I also agree that things people do in their younger days don't necessarily define them. I was surprised to learn Kendra is only 27. She looks so much older. I thought she was 33 or so. Rather she is a kid, and I have a funny feeling when she reaches Kate's age 10 years from now she may very well be a completely different person. However if you are already 37 odds are you aren't going to change much.

You know, admin, I agree about respecting other's choices. I am an old hippie who participated in lots of free love and free drugs--irrational exuberance as W. said. Once I had kids, my outlook drastically changed. In looking back, I think that I instinctively understood that all of my decisions would be recorded in my family history and would be my legacy for future generations. I wish that all parents would consider this when making their decisions. Consider that Hank Jr's friends will all be able to view Kendra's sex tapes. Not only that, Hank Jr's friends' parents and coaches will also be able to see them. Talk about a legacy... How horrible would that be?
While I have never shared all of the details of my past with my kids, I have shared edited versions and the lessons learned. Now that they are grown, I may share more of my past. But, let's face it, they really aren't that interested--their lives are much more exciting! But then, my kids were so self-involved when they were younger, that they never even asked me what I did that day, let alone cheered for me--not once, after all I've done for them...
It is all well and good to accept others' decisions because people shouldn't be defined solely by their actions. But, disregarding the power that those decisions hold on our children's futures is just plain clueless.
Kate and Kendra don't seem to learn from their mistakes--therefore, they are doomed to repeat them.

Until the mainstream media picks this up, I just don't see it going anywhere except the blogs and Twitter. While we're all very aware of what Kate and her super sleuths (ha!) probably did, it ends here. Radar had the story and then nothing more... and the few other news outlets just aren't big enough to make Kate sit up and cry. If The Stir fires her, that's news. Or word comes out that she was being considered for a big tv spot and then the show backed out.
I assume she'll be making the rounds publicizing CWS and I wonder if this will come up and how she'll spin it? In most states it is illegal to cyber harass, hard to get police to take action though.
