OK so the kids are grabbing at raw cookie dough!!!! As Kate said "Salmonilla". I just think back to when she freaked on the kids for eating the fruit meant for the stars & stripes cake. In this picture she is just smiling away. Would have been cuter if she had put some personality in it with humor--maybe pretending to whack their little hands with the spoon.
But it's organic cookie dough... and organic Salmonilla has the opposite effect on you.

It's virtually impossible to test Kate's meatloaf recipe because the measurement and directions are all over the place. And how the heck to you tell if the meatloaf is pink in the center without taking it out of the pan? So stupid.
I don't think Kate owns a thermometer for food and I'll bet she can't rattle off done temps for meats.
Someone mentioned that BigFan is back on Twitter. I read her timeline. She's really weird and is now obsessed with a real housewife. I'd be more afraid of that one as I would of Milo...she lives much too close to Kate.

Midnight Madness, I think the way it works is that since Kate is footing the bill from HCI to print and market the book, it will be published but it is not printed yet. I think this early pre-sell is a marketing ploy and they are fishing for how many to print, plus I am sure HCI is attempting to get the book stores to carry it so if the pre-orders are huge, they will be more inclined to carry the book and sign her up for the infamous book signings. Maybe she'll entice Steve to work for her again. LOL.
Oh Steve knows how to 'help' Kate, he just needs to get paid for it, that is the extent of their relationship. He'll be around if/when she does any personal appearances for this cookbook mockery. Wonder if she actually writes him a check or does his company send her a bill?

Wonder if the pre-ordering will turn out like the cruise. The cruise wanted to see how many rooms to block off for the "Kate Fans", and towards the end the cruise line decided to cancel. Don't think the book will sell as big as Kate needs or wants or what the publisher needs or wants. Believe this book is dead before Kate gets to go on book tours; at least hoping so!

Because of the isolation she's imposed on the kids and the fact that she seems to have almost no friends herself, I think she relies on the kids for her support and in many ways, that outwardly, they did act excited and supportive.
I don't see the kids paying much attention to what she's doing at any given time especially with her on twitter constantly and not paying attention to them, but when she brings up a new project I picture them patting her on the back and acting excited - anything to keep their narcissistic, abusive mom happy.
Their relationship with her is the opposite of what you and I think of a parent having with their child. Parents are supposed to support their kids, not the other way around. In the Gosselin house though, it seems they have this backwards. It's so sad thinking what the kids must go through trying to please and support her.

I have no idea how much breadcrumbs I use because I don't measure. There is no recipe. We just "dump." I've done it so often that I know the consistency I need for it not to turn out too wet or too dry! I remember when I was a kid, standing in the kitchen watching my grandmother and mother cook, and asking them how they know how much of each ingredient to use (they didn't use recipes...they learned from their mothers). My grandmother would say, "you know when it looks right." Gosh, the memories. I still haven't figured out how you know when Schnitz un Knepp "looks right." I just know that when I use an online recipe it doesn't "taste right." I really wish that I would have paid more attention when my grandmother cooked because I just can't duplicate so many of her meals and nothing was written down.
Since Kate's meatloaf recipe is so close to mine, I can verify that it tastes right. At least to me, and since we all have different likes and dislikes, what's sauce for the goose may not be gravy for the gander. I don't use carrots, however, so I have no idea what that does to it.

Oh, geez...I can't wait! Six months? What will I do until then? How will I feed my family? What if they are craving lemon hummus and I'm not sure if I need to use all of that lemon juice, or if that was a mistake?
The cruise line did a pre sale for tickets and in the end the cruise was cancelled. The publisher doing the same. Think this book will not give Kate what she wants or needs; a book tour on all TV shows and another big "pay check". The book could get maybe 1000 pre orders.
Let's face it, bookstores are in danger thse days because of ebooks. So many have gone out of business. My guess would be that a bookstore is going to look in to how her last book sold before commiting to ordering anything. When I go to our local bookstore you see countless cook books (and other books) on the discount tables because they just aren't selling and the bookstore wants to get rid of them and get them out of inventory. Kate is not J.K. Rowling and is not guaranteed to sell a book just because her name (picture) is on the cover. I just don't see her getting the bulk sale orders from the bookstores that she's hoping for.
I am going to make her hummis this weekend jusst to see if it's as bad as I think it will be. I will let you all know how it goes.

I am 99.9% sure she's wearing a wig. Her hair is very thin and shorter. When she pulls it back it's flat to her head, streaky and dry. I bet she has several wigs. Those extensions are notorious for thinning hair and causing baldness. Ha. Maybe she should get a hair transplant like Jon.

That's her hair. She just used a curling iron. I've seen her with those loose, hanging curls. I remember there was one time when I ran into her that I thought it was a wig, but upon a closer look, I could see her scalp and the black roots.

You can sure tell that she reads both this awesome blog, and has also read Robert's book, and is doing damage control by telling everyone things like she has patience NOW. She is so darn obvious, like we are too stupid to figure out her little ploys, the little word games she plays. Blogging on The Stir is her platform for re-making herself,nothing more. I am even wondering if she is the one who is paying The Stir, just so she can have a place to reach a larger audience.I just can't figure out why a place that has written many negative articles about her, all of a sudden has hired her to talk about all of the things they negatively wrote about her.
I stayed up until 3 a.m., re-reading Robert's book, and detest her even more today, than I did yesterday, and that was a lot!
I do not know if HCI has a quota but it makes business sense there's a minimum production number because 4-color hard bound books are expensive and HCI has to pay production costs, right, and they want to make money on the deal. So at the very least, she is on the hook for whatever their minimum is but I can tell you, Midnight, it's way higher than 100.

She is certifiable. Her young children are encouraged to 'make friends' with paid strangers in their home, but are probably discouraged from having playdates with kids their own age. And are enouarged to 'quiz' these paid professional adults about their roles in the photoshoot. Great, 8 kids underfoot asking questions. Though I highly doubt that scenario. She has no boundaries, and a very odd language usage as well.
On the topic of meatloaf...
I was flipping through the channels not long ago, and I think it was Meatloaf Paradise on the Travel Channel, where they went on search of the top three or four meatloafs in the country. And there it was...a local diner, of all the places they could have selected. I watched them make the meatloaf and started laughing -- it was exactly the way I make mine. No wonder their meatloaf always tastes so familiar!

Yes. it's in IJWYTK. 'Thomas Hummus.' It calls for 18 Tbsp lemon juice or juice of 6 lemons!!

Kate has now put a new entry on her website about 38 things she is grateful for on her birthday. And yes, each child plus the dog take up nine of those.
No wonder the photo was off center and had things growing out of the kids' heads. She let everyone know forthwith that she had been doing photo shoots forever, and that she didn't need any direction. But, alas, they are friends forever, and the kids will soon be missing them.

And when you think of it, I guess it's kind of sad to consider yourself a celebrity and spend most of your birthday tweeting.
Kate says she loves driving in her list of 38...didn't she say she 'hated driving hither, thither and yon?' That was the weirdest thing I ever heard someone say! I'm not going to even hazard a guess as to what Milo is doing. It was rather odd she wasn't on Twitter non-stop all day, but I think I'll just sit back and see what plays out instead of jumping to conclusions.

I just read Kate's post on her website, "38 Blessings on this, my 38th Birthday". The whole post is fraught with grammatical errors and misspellings. She must write all her posts on her phone, and maybe autocorrect comes into play. One example, when speaking about one of the boys:

Out of 38 items, God came in at number 19, but gum was number 15. Gum before God. Nice, Kate.
She thanks modern technology for her phone, and says "I also can’t imagine not being able to reach my kids at all times". If only Cara and Mady have phones, how does she keep in touch with her other children "at all times"?
Kate really should have someone proof-read anything and everything she puts down in writing. The more she writes, the more she makes a fool of herself.

I have posted here a few times in the past but read here alot; just wanted to say that while waiting in a long line at WalMart after work, I saw the new People magazine so I browsed through it. Its the April 8 edition, must have just come out today. there was about 1/2 page section on Kate and her cookbook; she answers a few questions. She said they did the photos with a skeleton crew and she did everyone's hair and makeup. There was a picture of the book cover and one of her from last year - in the black dress from after the fashion show, I think.

She's fooling around and thinks she's clever. Probably tracking a UPS package or something. Someone noticed her tweets were from the web (computer) and she quickly said no, from her cell - but her tweets only changed to that status when she sent that tweet, meaning she quickly changed from computer to cell when someone noticed. What a weirdo.
What Kate does in the kitchen isn't cooking--it is asembling. A package of this, a box of that. Nothing wrong with it--it just isn't cooking.

People have been commenting about Kate wearing a wig. Here's my opinion, based on a conversation with my hair stylist. I have very naturally thick curly blonde hair. Kate has very thick hair too. We know she put the extensions in, in 2010. I asked my stylist if the excessive coloring, bleaching and extensions to her hair could cause it to thin too much, break, look unhealthy. Her thought was no, on extensions causing hair loss. The bleaching and heat on her head can cause damage. More likely her excessive exercise and lack of a proper diet is having more of an effect. However, that said, last summer she had straight hair that thinned towards the end. Now her hair is very thick at the ends. That's not natural. To get that thick curly hair at the end she is putting in extensions to make the ends thicker. It looks fake as can be and far worse in my opinion. The worst thing about extensions is the ratty, matted mess that your hair feels like. I don't have them and would never get them, but my stylist says it is actually repulsive to touch the head of a person with extensions. Bottom line, her hair looks more fake than ever to me since the latest style seems to be longer, with thickness at the ends to hold massive curl. The very opposite of what natural hair does.

Also, anyone read last weeks blog, potty training!! Um, her kids are 12 and 9. Why is she talking potty training with moms of toddlers? I also was shocked at how she rewrites history. She described being a mommy with all the patience in the world, don't plan going out for 2 weeks because it is a difficult time, when they are ready, don't push them. The Kate we saw demanded the boys train because they are too old and doesn't want to change diapers anymore. She beat a boy when he had an accident at day 5 because he isn't a dog and should be able to control his functions better. Never use pull ups, they are a lazy parents tool. She put her kids in pull ups! She made one boy sit in the dark, with a camera planted in his face for more than 30 minutes, because he wouldn't pee. Would you, in that situation? 3 of her children at the same time, spring 2007, had bowel issues, related to stool withholding, constipation and impaction. I am a pediatric nurse practitioner and I can tell you that those incidences were clearly related to improper toilet training and fear, stool withholding (maybe because cameras were always in their face and they had no privacy) all leading to impaction and accidents. I was horrified when I read these incidents in her journals. Also, considering she is a nurse, she has the worst medical knowledge that I have ever encountered in someone with training. Clearly she never enjoyed doing it.
Anyway, another blog where she rewrites history to seem the worlds greatest mommy.
They stick those combs in there underneath the hair to add thickness and length. Joan Rivers pulled one out of her head on Fashion Police. You would have never known that it was there.

I agree 100%. All her "recipes" have only 1 or 2 steps. They all are a list of 5-8 ingredients, mix together, and do one of the following:
1) mix together, place in pot and simmer until done
2) mix together, blend in food processor/blender, done
3) mix together, put in casserole dish, bake until bubbly
4) mix together, put in bread maker, slice when done
This is not cooking. It's merely a compilation of "ingredientses", randomly. And based on the photos of her food, after all we eat with our eyes before our stomach, it would end up in a compost heap. Lastly, someone should inform Kate, photograph food on an all white plate, the food pops, and don't include countertop as half the picture.
Amateur. I personally believe Mady and Cara could probably make a more appetizing meal than mommy dearest.

Yesterday the photographer was a rinky dink photographer who charged an obscenely low session rate. Today she's a professional who trained, studied and has been doing this for years. How quickly things change.
Consistent, yesterday we were all assuming the photographers were in charge. Today Kate clarified who was really calling the shots. Hence it was unfair to blame the photographers. :)

As many people can attest, it is very, very difficult to live with a mentally ill parent. I would like to see her get help but I am at a loss that there's anything that anyone could do at this point. If pitbulls are so dangerous then why can't she just go to the judge and ask him for an order the children are not to be around Liz's pitbull? Problem solved. If this is such a terrible problem, then it should be a simple solution and the judge should understand. Of course I say this tongue in cheek, absent any kind of indication there's anything wrong with this dog, it's doubtful most judges are going to make such a ridiculous order, especially when the person asking for it owns a dog who is also on the most dangerous breeds list. And sadly owns a dog who due to neglect is probably far more of a danger than some much loved nanny dog.
Melissa also to add to your thought about something being off I really think "stunted" is the best way to describe it at this point. It's like she really does stop at 12. Giggles over the things 12 year olds giggle about. Plays mean girls like the way 12 year olds play mean. Has interests that are similar to a 12 year old. Maturity of a 12 year old, both emotionally and intellectually. Raising kids like a 12 year old would. Still has the selfishness of a child. Rather lazy at this stage, many of them. Doesn't' want to do much work, still just wants to have fun. It screams TWELVE.
Sometimes it makes me shudder to think what in the world was it that happened to her at age 12, if anything.
So, Milo has a dog that she's named Katie Irene. I have a wild imagination and I can see poor Katie Irene scooting around Milo's floor on her butt. Milo hurriedly make an appointment and the vet for deworming Katie Irene. Poor Katie Irene will chew on Lights Out Man's slippers and Milo will say "Bad girl Katie Irene, bad!. Katie Irene will do that doggy thing and stick her snout in some poor church lady's crotch and Milo will have to train Katie Irene not to do that. I foresee many adventures for Katie Irene as she adjusts to life with Milo. Remember Katie Irene, Milo knows best.

Don't use Kate's other potty training methods on Katie either. No M&Ms (chocolate is toxic to dogs) and please, for the love of God, no puppy poop pictures on twitter!

Wow, Milo's tweets yesterday were disturbing. She was intentionally misleading Kate et. al. to think she was driving to PA to visit Kate. That's just sick. Worse yet, she adopted a puppy out of celebrity worship, and that makes me sad and concerned.
Does Milo plan on worshipping Kate for the next 12-16 or more years? That's how long "Katie Irene" will be around, and a dog is no whim purchase. It is serious stuff-- a commitment that comes from genuine love, not an impulse to please or impress a crush.

Hey all, I had an oil fire this morning. I got my mom, my dogs and myself out ok. Mainly smoke damage. Does anyone know the best way to clean the walls? My stove, cupboard above the stove and fridge gone. damage was mostly in the kitchen. Talk about reality, I'm a star. I made the news. Address and all. Yay..not..now the looters know. . My home owners expired on the 13. Go figure. Lots to be thankful for though. Any suggestion where to start?

I'm so sorry to hear this...your first call should be to your local American Red Cross chapter. As a volunteer, I go to home fires very often - and we respond to those where the client does not have insurance...and that sounds like you. Also - call 1-800-BOARDUP (hope that's okay, Admin, that I put in a phone number). They are a nationwide company that will come out and board up your home to protect it from looters.
That's where you start...after you take a deep breath and thank the heavens that you and your precious loved ones weren't hurt.

It's highly unlikely all eight of the kids love doing photoshoots anyway. Eight kids, eight different likes and dislikes.
It's hard to believe any but the ones who enjoy getting glammed up or playing celebrity enjoy themselves. It can't be any picnic shooting an entire cookbook. Long hours, hot lights, strangers you don't know (no Kate, a production crew you likely will never see again is not your children's FRIEND they are there to do a job), having to stand there and pose instead of enjoying your weekend with friends and activities.
And I don't buy oh they loved to eat. If this is what Kate makes normally anyway this shouldn't be any novelty. And yeah well looks like a lot of the stuff was uncooked, you can't touch anything until all the photos are done and by that time it's cold and sitting there for hours. Yuck.

Why would anyone follow her? If you follow someone you only see their replies if you follow both people. Otherwise you see their tweets and retweets in your timeline. As this article points out, people who follow her would have a timeline completely filled with her tweets and retweets. I have unfollowed people for that very reason. Can you imagine seeing all those in your timeline?

Local yes I agree. The article called it spamming and it's true. I think a celebrity tweeter needs to be aware if they tweet THAT much it is showing up on all of their followers timelines and there's a good chance people are going to get annoyed especially if it's just retweets. I was reading some of the tweets yesterday, and the one that she retweeted who should be "outed" is the most vile, disgusting, obnoxious one out there on Twitter. Every single tweet contains obscenities.She tweeted that she hopes Kate chokes on her birthday cake. Nasty stuff. That said, the outing is wrong, the threatening of being outed is wrong, and Kate just retweeted without even thinking that she was condoning this person being outed (the tweeters name was in the tweet). She doesn't learn. Nothing will come of this, but her immaturity in all of this is scary...and Kate will keep doing it.
But if she doesn't see the tweets as she so often claims, they how does she know who these people are, and that they are "bullies?" She seems to know their Twitter names.
