Perhaps someone could explain this to me. So they publish first and last names of Twitter haters. For what reason? Do they think that the entire country searches Bullyville for the names of Kate haters? How is this going to stop haters from tweeting, and put an end to all of the back and forth bashing going on? What would someone do with these names? I don't get it...
What does Kate hope this will accomplish? What is SHE going to do with the information?
Kate had better hope that her support of Bullyville's outings doesn't make the news where someone might actually interview a 'hater'. The last thing she should want is for them to tell allll about the reasons they don't like her - namely CHILD ABUSE. This could backfire on you Kate. Big time!

It was so funny, Tweet-le! I was following it last night, and Milo was giddy with this news, sure that Kate was going to kiss her rear end in appreciation forever and ever. Kate didn't thank her, only said something like, wow, you rescued her. There was no thrill involved. I think Kate was actually relieved that Milo wasn't at her gate. She certainly didn't play Milo's surprise game. I think she was disappointed because she expected an actual gift, not a dog being named after her!
It reminded me of one scene in Roseanne, where Roseanne was expecting gifts so she could return them for cash. One of the gifts was that a tree "has been planted in Israel." Now a dog has been named after Kate. I guess we'll hear all about Katie Irene (THE SECOND) and her potty training, walking with Jack, ad nauseam.
Milo is one scary person, but at least she and the sheeple didn't make the road trip...that was Kate's birthday present, and a good one.
If Deanna and Kate had paid more attention to the posts here they'd have already known how to hard boil fresh eggs without them sticking to the shell. LOL

Milo must have been crushed when she saw that about the coffee. She made a big deal out of not liking coffee but trying to force herself to like it by trying some flavored creamers. Idiotic but she tried anyway; anything to connect with Kate. She didn't like coffee any better after she tried the creamers and to think Kate didn't remember!!!!!
Honestly, I could not care less about Kate's "cook book" if it only contains her barf recipes. But, given her history, she probably included many pictures of her kids throughout her COOKBOOK (not including pictures of food, if you can call it that). And therein lies the problem I have with her. Can she ever ever ever do anything without relying on her kids? I think the answer is no. We are talking about a major chef, right : )? If she is still using her kids for a cookbook, SHE has HUGE dependancy issues- on her own kids. Check yourself Kate.
I guess Milo's Lights Out Man went along with adopting the dog and naming her in Kate's honor. The family must be aware of her Kate obsession and either condone it, or just go along with it. I just hope they don't encourage it. Screws loose all the way around there. It just makes you wonder how someone gets to that point and continues the obsession like it's normal.
Just read PEOPLE magazine and after reading through it realized I MISSED the article about her new cookbook and had to go find it because it's such a small article...anyhow...get this! Kate said the photo was her very favorite so far and that they had such a "small skeleton crew that SHE did everyone's hair and makeup"....sure you did Kate!!!! Sorry to hear your news. If there is light smoke, you can by special sponges at a janitorial supply store. That is what professional restoration companies use. If it is heavy, then you will still need to get as much soot off with the sponges as you can, and then prime with the sealer Killz.
It will be difficult to get the odor out, especially if appliances were burned. Professional companies use a commercial deordizer that neutralizes, and/or ozone. But the application requires expensive commercial grade equipment. So, might be best to just call some restoration companies in your area and see if you can get someone out to walk through and give an opinion on what can be done by you and what you may need a professional for.

I don't get this bullyville/outing mess -- the purpose of it is what? I noticed that bullyville offered $500 for the first and last names of two "haters." One of those two persons was mentioned the last time bullyville carried on their tirade against Kate "haters." Why would they need it again if they "outed" the person before? Are they saying they had an incorrect name? Couldn't they be in deep doo-doo if they "outed" someone with the name of someone else, and that person took issue with it and contacted authorities?
Njay -- So sorry to hear about your fire. Thank God you and your mother and the fur kids are okay. That's really scary. As for cleaning the smoke/water damage -- your best bet would be to hire a professional to do it. It can be done by you, but it's hard and the results are usually less than ideal. It can be expensive, but in the long run it pays off when you don't have to replace things. I recommend Serv-Pro if they are in your area. If not, check online or in your yellow pages. I speak from experience. Had a fire about 20 years ago, and Serv-Pro was able to salvage nearly everything, except for a couch.

You really should get a restoration company in there to assess the damage. You can surface clean it with deodorizer and degreaser, but if the smoke is pressurized inside the walls, you have to have that taken care of. Only a professional would be able to test it using their equipment. A surface cleaning would get rid of what's on the outside, but the inside damage would still remain.

I'm actually going to try the pricking method for the batch of eggs I'll be making this weekend. I wonder if Kate's cookbook will have little tips like this. Guess I'll never know because I won't be buying it.
Thanks Knows Quality, I will call the numbers. The red cross did show up and set us up in a motel for a few days. My uncle called me this morn and told mom and i to rest up for today and we will all meet tomorrow to come up with a plan of attack. That stupid news told the address and that the red cross was helping us. What IDIOTS!!! So not only did they tell looters where to go, they also let them know we aren't there. Oh, and get this. They said the fire started in the freezer. IDIOTS!!! They really need to change their policy about giving out addresses. IDIOTS!! Sorry, just angry.

It must be realllllly small because I looked through it twice and still didn't see anything, lol.
Kate must be so disappointed that no major media sites are writing about her cookbook. The only articles about it are at examiner.com, gather.com, babble.com and of course, her post on the Stir.
Then there's that one PR release, and a small blurb in People. People doesn't even have anything about it on the website.
I doubt many people have pre-ordered it, except for maybe 50(if that many) of her tweeties. I don't really think this book is going to sell well at all.
Knowing how well Kate does promotion(cough-cough), I doubt she will be mentioning it much in the days to come. She did the same thing with the cruise-promoted it heavily for a day or two, and then let Cindy Cardella take care of the promotion, while Kate gave it a retweet here or there.
I could be wrong, but Kate doesn't have a very good track record at promoting herself or anything that she's involved in.

I finally read her blog at cafemom. Am I not understanding this correctly or does she want people to believe she baked cakes and made no bake cookies (as well as many other "real foods") the day of the shoot so they would be fresh and photo ready? I know she likes to tell tall tales but that's really stretching it. No way did she do that.
I get that people need to embellish their stories to make them sound more interesting, but Kate doesn't even get that right. If she had said it had been a busy few days or even a busy couple of weeks of photographing the food it would be slightly more convincing.

Njay, Check your insurance policy -SOMETIMES (not always) there is a 30 to 90 day grace period for non-payment, ( if you pay the past due amt, the policy is reinstated and your fire damage could be covered). However, this does not apply if your policy was actually cancelled. In addition, depending on the cause of the fire there could be an insurance subrogation issue where another insurance policy would cover it, ( for example faulty wiring in the stove). Then the insurance for the appliance would cover it. Good luck.

Haven't read everything, but jumping in anyway! I think the entire Milo fake road trip and KK's failure to react the way Milo thought she would about the dog, exposed something WE all knew, and Milo refused to accept.
We know that KK abused the dogs she had, and really does NOT like dogs. Oh my goodness. How many think that KK will give Milo an answer to this question? I think that 'incident' is the one that led to KK leaving Alaska. If I'm remembering correctly, it was said that the Palin's threatened to report KK to Child Services for what she did to Mady that prompted that sobbing photo.

I agree with you. Milo really does like animals, and I think she will take good care of the adopted puppy. I also think that Milo is so 'tone deaf' that she will continually post about ''Katie Irene II'', and never really grasp that KK doesn't like the comments!!
I think that Dianne@meinatlanta is some type of publicist looking for work with Kate. I'm basing this on looking at the people she's following and many list themselves as doing this type of work.

It just doesn't occur to Kate that she foisted this upon her children. They shouldn't have to deal with paps, but because of Kate (and Jon previously), they have had to endure being swarmed at their bus stop.
She has no shame or guilt. Additionally, Kate has caused headaches for all the other parents who have to deal with the 3-ring circus when they drop their kids off at the bus stop.

Why have a public twitter account? Kate, of course, only signed up fro the goodies. Other people are just such an inconvenience, right? If they are violating twitter policies, then get on them to enforce them. If they are threatening, then report to the authorities. If their behavior constitutes harrassment or libel, then sue them. Otherwise, take the consequences of modern social media.
As far as Milo, has Kate responding to any of her twitters since she broke the news that she was not heading her way? Maybe Kate's coffee tweet was to figure out whether this crazed fan was heading for her house. Maybe, she was following someone's advise not alert Milo that she was freaking Kate out. I know that would be out of character for Kate to follow anyone's advise, but, if Milo is not someone she knows in real life, her response may have been just keep the interaction friendly and low key. This falls under the category of things we just don't know. Maybe Kate took the kids out for her birthday to get out of the house on the chance that Milo showed up. That would make some sense--especially, as Tucker commented, it is particularly stupid to skip the ever so important memory-making traditinal Gosselin birthday cake.

Yes she did! Shortly after that, Collin covered his eyes when out and about...if he didn't see the paps, he couldn't get into trouble from his abusive mother! I believe that is also why he was the toddler that was impacted. After getting picked up by his hair and beat as hard as she could before throwing him in his crib for having messy pants, he just stopped going potty at all!!

That's what is so darn hypocritical about the whole thing. At the top of their page, flashing, is the quote of the day "- Sometimes you need to be a bully to beat a bully." Well, that's BEING a bully, so logically, you can say that bullyville is the bully.
So let's say that the names of those haters are released. Kate finds out who they are. What is she going to do with those names...exactly how is this going to stop what she perceives as bullying? Is she going to contact their employers, telling them she's being bullied and wants it stopped? Is she going to report them to the police and slap them with some kind of bullying warrant?

Where is the smoke residue...on everything, including furniture, draperies, etc? You need to call a restoration company. Sometimes they can do it on the spot, but more often, they will remove everything and take it back to the shop where it is cleaned. It will be cleaned, deodorized and returned to you. It really is a job for a professional service.

Anyway, I was never a fan of J&K+8. The few times I did watch, I was very put off by Kate's behavior. When the news of the divorce broke, and the tabloids were bashing Jon, I knew there was more to the story than what was let on. I did a google search which led me to this site.
I did watch the episode "Jon cooks Korean" I was very interested because I was a culinary major in college and I am unfamiliar with Korean cuisine. This episode could have been "educationalish" and even led to a "Jon & Kate plus 8" cookbook but it was not to be. I remember Jon going to the Korean grocer to get his food. When Jon was trying to explain how the food was prepared, Kate was making offensive remarks such as "Ah-so". When he tried to give out the recipes, Kate shushed him and said "ancient Chinese secret" to which Jon replied angrily "Korean." Right then and there, I knew Kate was a shrew. Was she that ignorant to her then husband's ethnicity? Did she not know that when you put down your husbands ethnicity, you are doing the same to your kids? Even when Kate took the kids to Chinatown in 100 degree heat, she was referring to the Chinese letters "Asian"
Anyway, Kate must have been put-off that the episode was more about Jon than herself. She kept constantly getting in Jon's way and manipulating things. She told Jon to get out of the kitchen because she had to make the kids' lunch. Seriously tho, how much room did she need to portion out some grapes and crackers? I remember she mixed the green and white scallions, which inconveinienced Jon. When Jon told her separating the scallions was part of the recipe, Kate said real cooks don't follow recipe's. I got news for Ms Kate, cooks do follow recipe's. Especially in restaurants where menu items need to be consistent. If Ms Kate bakes bread like she says she does, you have to be precise or you will get a mixing bowl full of "floury goo."
Well, the episode went on, Mady came home from school and jumped for joy when she found out her daddy cooked Korean. Probably the only real happiness that kid ever had .When dinner was over, Kate said in her smart alecky way that Jon could cook dinner every night. I did find the episode disappointing because I didn't learn anything from it. Kate kept getting in the way and interrupting. The recipe's were later put on the website.
As for Kate wanting to publish her cookbook, she could have already had one years ago. It was Jon who could have been the draw for the cookbook and not Kate. They could have put Jon's recipes in the book along with a few of Kate's. Do you really think Kate would let Jon get all the attention?
After 3 years of lurking, this is my first post. I'm happy to see this blog is still up and running. I would like to thank the administrator for keeping this blog in perspective. I enjoy the pet stories and recipe's on this sight. Thank you all for listening to me rant.

The only recipe that I'd ever want from J+K would be Jon's bulgogi. Kate was a bitch that entire episode and I think her comment about cooks not needing recipes was a slight to Jon and really a nasty little snide remark since she wasn't getting the attention she wanted.
I remember watching the show and wanting to scream at the tv when Kate corrected Jon for calling the bulgogi "gogi". WTF? "We" don't pronounce it that way? FU Kate. It's Jon's family's recipe!
It would be like my DH telling me how to pronounce pierogie or kielbasa.
And Kate's selfishly saying that the recipe was a secret and she wouldn't give it out was just childish. Bulgogi is simple to make if you have the ingredients, which aren't terribly arcane and exotic. Easy peasy, so bfd if Jon's recipe is shared.
That's what food is all about! But alas, Jon's dish would make Kate's slop look like... slop, which it is. I think Kate knew that.
We have seen pics of her not smart "junk", the 'crunchy' things in the lunch boxes for example. Is smart junk like a smart phone? She forgot about the organic junk, too. What a tool.

Since the definition of sadistic is to take pleasures in others' misfortunes, Milo just exhibited some real sadism. I can't imagine finding a young girl's tears "funny"--especially those of a child who has endured as much as C has. And until chefsummer pointed it out, I never noticed M's fake smile. M has that sick look you get when you're trying not to cry and you force a weak smile.
It was so strange the way Milo led Kate to believe she was driving up there. That was a little sadistic, too--toying with Kate a bit. Maybe testing the waters to gauge Kate's response in case Milo ever DOES do it? And what did ate do? Offer to make her coffee. Of course, I think Kate was feeling the situation out, not sure what to do. Milo's going to do something really big one day. She will not be ignored. She's all but said it. Welcome Former Chef! Wonderful post. That Korean dinner episode was the one that finally defrosted my Korean ice cream. ;-) I had had more than enough of Kate before that, but that episode was my last until this blog came along for me. I do catch some snippets of the show from links here.
I agree that Jon might have been able to compile a nice list of family recipes from his Mom and maybe some relatives in Hawaii. Kate could have learned a lot from it, too. Jon seemed to be at home in the kitchen, knew how to follow a recipe and was willing to put the required amount of time into preparing a very nice dinner for his family. I appreciated Jon a lot more than Kate did that night, and I never even got to taste the rice.
Jon is still someone I wish I knew personally. He seems like a guy who would be a good friend to have around.

This is what mature people do. They have someone handle it who knows what they are doing. They take care of the problem through the proper channels. However, since Kate is stuck in that pre-teen Twilight Zone, that's exactly how she acts. All she is doing is showing her immaturity, but because of her emotional development, she has no idea how she comes across.
I'm just baffled, though, why there isn't anyone in her life who can advise her. Surely with all of the people she's met over the years there has to be one sane, rational person who can lay out the facts of life for her. I would believe, though, that she's going to do what she wants to do and not listen to anyone. Perhaps they all gave up because they don't know how to help her.
And so we have a 12-year-old playing Twitter games and carrying them to the extent that if she keeps this going she could be in serious trouble with the law, depending on how far she carries it. I honestly believe that she thinks she is untouchable, but her defense that she didn't know she was doing anything wrong just isn't going to cut it. The time is coming when she is going to have to pay the piper, and Kate doesn't like paying anyone anything. There will be no coupons, free passes or "get out of jail" cards.

They sure care a lot about self-publishing for a "traditional" publisher.
HCI is publishing Kate's book--they'll put it in print and will be listed as "publisher"--but who is footing the bill? Who is assuming the risk? Only if HCI has done that is it actually a traditional publisher, which typically requires an agent but MAYBE in the self-help category does not.
Small press is another possibility--does not require an agent but has no real clout and does virtually no marketing. In other words--the worst of both worlds, low royalties and little marketing. HCI Books? Who's heard of them? They're not Zondervan or Random House. If she's not self-published, my money's on small press (a very dumb move, but often good for writers' egos since they feel traditionally published, even though there's no money in it.)
(I hope I don't offend anyone about the small press thing. I've had several small presses interested in me--and why not. They could make a lot of money off my hard work,while leaving me to market it. Others who had published through small press told me, "Run! It's a racket." I did!
I believe it's a semantics game with HCI and Kate. I'm willing to be wrong....

Look where Kate's left hand is while she smiles
for the camera. Maybe Kate flipped out after the photo because Mady did not "perform" to her liking. Krap was a complete miserable witch the entire trip to everyone. I think this was the beginning of the end for her, as her horrible behavior was not edited out of the show. She was horrible to all of the Palins the entire time. I think TLC realized then, once and for all, that she was not someone they wanted to be associated with and let her contract run out. Didn't the show's producer have to fly out to meet with Kate in Alaska? The irony is for her fare well trip, they sent her on a 2 week camping trip : ) Probably their pay back and filmed her in her true form.

I do believe that HCI Books is delighted to have Kate on board. They, like Coupon Cabin and the Stir, think she'll bring them attention, which she's done. But they'll probably expect it to be POSITIVE, lol. Who knows but that in Kate's case they said, "Okay, we'll do it as long as you promote us and we can use your name." In that case, I certainly think it's possible they might back out if pre-sales are dismal--depending on the contract. Darn, we need Kate to throw out some more hard drives.

I think the smartest thing she did in all of this was not to comment on Robert's book. She obviously listened to the advice of Laverne and Shirley. Yes, it must have been very tempting to say, "lies, all lies," but that would have opened up a whole can of worms.
Smart in the sense that Robert would have turned around and sued her for libel for calling him a liar. And I bet he would have turned over the journals to People or something, made them available, to prove it. As well as released even more info.

She has no control over what happens next. I can think of numerous things that could amount to illegal activity, and she encouraged it. I just don't understand how a grown woman can have such judgment issues. It's a no brainer you steer wide left of such a group, come on. I've seen such judgement problems before from grown adults but they were either mentally ill or mentally impaired. I'm convinced she is one or both.

Admin -- The milk/vinegar substitute for buttermilk works. I've used it when I made Irish soda bread. Use a TBL of vinegar per cup of milk, let stand for about 10 minutes. Or -- if you have any plain (UNflavored) yogurt, you can add 3/4 cup of yogurt to 1/4 cup of milk and stir well. I've used that once and couldn't tell the difference.

I agree. I really do have deep concerns for what those children have already experienced while under Kate's control. Even spending half their time with Jon isn't enough to keep them safe. I am not a particularly religious person, but I do pray that the Gosselin children survive basically intact to adulthood. Kate is both mentally ill and mentally impaired. And as she ages (and becomes more and more "mediocre"), it will only get worse.

I'll admit right up front that I always think the best of Jon, and I feel the same way about Robert.
Having said that, my first thought when I saw Robert taking on Bullyville was that he was outraged to his very core that Bullyville was protecting the woman Robert KNOWS abused her children and animals, instead of the REAL victims...the Gosselin children!

In trying to figure out how to set up kindle I remember once reading a forum post--it wasn't what I was looking for I quickly realized, but it was funny. Basically a self-published author was saying he couldn't figure out why he had zero sales when all his friends and family had said they bought his book. Then another poster very gently explained to him maybe his family really hadn't bought the book and were just trying to be nice and say they had! LOL poor guy.
That reminds me of that sheeple claiming she bought Kate's book in a store. Obviously she couldn't have bought it in the store yet. There's no way for us to verify if any of these people who claim to have pre-ordered it really have. Maybe they're just saying it to be nice.

Wow! According to that site, the cookbook has all of TWO pre-orders on Amazon.com and ONE on Amazon.ca. Three pre-orders total on Amazon. Three. That is just pathetic. And hilarious, too. After all the build-up, all Kate's hints about her exciting surprise. Her fans were hanging on her every word, supposedly dying for their next Kate fix, and that's it??? So many fans said they were planning to order multiple copies to give as gifts, too. Yet, a huge online retailer like Amazon has only 3 orders. That tells you a lot.
It will be interesting to see how the cookbook sells in the next 5+ months. I don't think the total sales number will be very high. Not at all. In fact, I think we're looking at yet another monumental and embarrassing failure for Kate. A potentially expensive one, too. If it were her money being wasted, I wouldn't care, but I suspect it's the kids' money. Let's just hope this does not deplete their college funds. I would hate to see her blow their chances for higher education, just to feed her own massive ego. It wouldn't surprise me, but I would hate to see that happen.
And by the way, I adore Robert Hoffman. Robert, if you stop by to read here, I hope you realize that we all consider you a hero and a true child advocate. Bravo!

On the track your book page there are two search boxes. I didn't read either carefully I just put my novel into the first one and it came up. Apparently that was the ADD box. SO I myself added my book and it immediately gave me stats. When you "add" it looks like a search since it comes up right away. Here is the current book page. Beautiful, artistic and professionally done picture. The off-center placement of Amy in her kitchen was extremely attractive and down-to-earth. Also, she had several endorsements from people who have met and worked with her. Extremely complimentary, genuine comments. Would love to see a quote from Emeril and some of the others who have had the 'pleasure' of working with Kate. Like maybe from the hair, costume and makeup staff at DWTS, where Kate was much more informed about the timing then the pros.
Also, there were 51 comments on the book, which averaged 4.7/5. Looks like Amy beat expectations. I have a lot of admiration for people who have to work so hard just to do normal activities of daily living. I have a family member who is a dwarf, around the same age as Amy, and with an identical body type. She had to have several surgeries on her legs at age 16, and has chronic back problems. Her parents were told that they should consider placing her in a facility because of the physical disabilities and that they thought she would have severe mental deficiencies. Her parents were extremely involved in the Little Peoples organization and always attended the conventions. My family member has a Phd and is extremely well known in her field. Compared to Amy and my family member, Kate is just a spoiled brat who is never satisfied with her lot in life. Amy seems very comfortable with who she is, and her love for her family is obvious.

Record time for such a pre-order reduction in price. I also noticed that a lot of fans posting about wanting the book just started posting 5 days ago, and only post about Kate or other "celebrities," and I use that term loosely. Looks like Twitterbots(?) Kate paid for to boost her book sales.
I think the reason that I still follow Kate news is that it seems like she will stop at nothing to keep herself relevant. Using her kids non-stop, dumping Jon (We will be together forever), twittering constantly for attention, which has been a HUGE downfall, recreating history, not keeping lies straight from one day to the next, and most importantly, using any and all resources to keep her in the spotlight, even when it is not in her best interest. MAINLY HER KIDS. (I'm sure most parents at the kids' school feel sorry for the kids, but Kate will never ever get it.) She blindly believes she is the super mom, and will pursue fame at all and any cost to her kids. She never really put the kids first EVER except to make sure she could have multiples. Her own mother said she used to carry a book around about a womanhaving twins while she was young. Who does that as a teenager?
"I JUST CAN'T STOP" comes to mind, a chorus in a current song, which leads me to believe this woman is so flawed that she just can't/won't stop, even when it involves 8 innocent kids. I am sure there a a bunch of photos of the kids in the cook book, which clearly emphasizes that she knows she is not the drawal. But continues after how many years to still use her kids for her own glory?
She has serious mental health issues, which she refuses to address (narcissist that she is). And I normally would not care, but there are 8 count em 8 kids who are dealing with her selfish need to stay in the spotlight, and the consequences of HER behavior.
I believe she will have hell to pay once M & C are old enough to go on their own, and not need her financial support. And rightfully so. She has put them through hell with her selfishness, even when their own father wanted to stop filming. And the kids do know that. Hell to pay is on its way!!!
I will buy the kids' books, as she has put them through hell with her own need for glory. She is a rendition of Joan Crawford, no matter how she tries to paint herself.

I have Amy Roloff's cookbook and it is very nice. Pictures are great and each recipe has a short story. One of the episodes was how much work you have to put in to doing a cook book. You can tell by the pictures of the family in her book that all of them truly love each other and the smiles are not phony or frozen.
Beware anyone using Kate's website, www.kateplusmy8.com. From what Native1111 from TheStir comments are saying, Kate has given Bullyville authority to intercept her e-mails and bully those contacting her (or else her e-mail account and/or site has been hacked). I know if I contacted her I certainly wouldn't want my contact info shared with anyone. It's WRONG, Kate. WRONG.

I'm glad the person who was contacted by some stranger when she emailed Kate's blog address is going to media outlets and telling the story. If this is true, it is such a violation of privacy. I don't care what the tone of the email is, you block the person and be done with it. You do not "out' them and threaten their personal privacy, security, safety and job.
I was just wondering if anyone with publishing experience can tell me if it is a usual practice to slash a book price by 50% so soon after it's announcement. I just think it's a bad sign for Kate as far as this book being a big seller.

I'm sure some of them did, just as some of the haters buy Kate's books. It's an obsession.
With the 2 day half price reduction, is she hiding in the closet? You have to wonder after the "underwhelming" response she got at book signings and her response?
Options: Stop pimping your kids; stop using your kids to promote a book, and get on with your life- no one, except a few, want to see you and especially your kids, on TV. Enough of the exploitation for your own glory. Just a suggestion.

I live local to HCI. A former colleague of mine works there. Although we are no longer in touch, this is what I can tell you about her experience with HCI.
It is a shoe string operation that pays both "authors" and employees poorly. A few years ago, my friend was working part-tme as a copyeditor and was subsequently hired full time. While she was part time, a number of employees were laid off, there were across the board 10% pay cuts for everyone, including freelancers and part timers. When she was hired FT, the owner offered her an extremely low salary, about 35% less than what would be expected for this senior-level position. When she paused before responding, he said something similar to this: If you don't want it, I'll find someone who does.
Authors are paid very little, I think the largest advance that she saw was about $10,000 to $12,000. That's it. There is no marketing budget, no book tours, etc. If the authors want it, THEY have to foot the bill. Knowing this, I highly, highly doubt that Kate received a huge advance, if any. Look at the crappy/cheap photography. This is not a high-end publisher.
That's what I know about HCI. It doesn't have a highly professional reputation.

I have said this before, but the cookbook fiasco can lead to nothing good. Even for a "stable" person, all the criticism would be hard to take. Here's hoping that Kate does not crash. She really must be on the edge by now.
p.s. I am NOT a fan, just thinking that life can't be good in that house.

Careful there, Kate. It may "legal" to view that IP but it's not necessarily legal to threaten or harass with such information. She's so dumb. Just because seeing an IP is legal doesn't mean every single thing you do with that information is legal.
She's really dismantling. I can't believe she is even getting involved in all of this questionable stuff. Anyone with any judgment at all would not get involved in such a thing. I thought she was all about positivity? Instead she's joining one massive war. She's doing dumb stuff that only a few stupid celebrity do like Charlie Sheen. Her fans should stage an intervention.
