A 20-something from Texas, this cool, happy guy has been minding his own business on Twitter for more than a year. He likes tacos (especially Torchy's in Austin, mmmm), sports (go Boise State!) and hip hop. In fact he's turned his love of music into a career, producing for up and coming local talent like Michael James Rojas. Many of his tweets come out of the studio where he can often be found, hard at work. How nice to see someone so young with work ethic.

Carlos apparently thought it was funny he happened to share the same last name as some celebrity D-lister named Kate (He's right, it is.). So, clearly as a joke, light-hearted Carlos tweeted this to Kate early this morning:

The Gaping Maw of a Fame-hole did not get it.
Carlos immediately responded explaining that he was just joking around, but that Gosselin actually is his real birth name, it's French--as a firestorm of supporters swooped in to add their two cents. Carlos's supporters, that is. Only a few of Kate's fans bothered to try to explain away the misunderstanding. And apparently, Kate has successfully convinced the masses that Jon is dead, judging by this hysterical tweet from Carlos:

Kate still couldn't accept he really is a Gosselin, but managed to issue a non-apology kinda-sorta apology,
a few D-lister celebrity gossip sites picked up the story, and the saga goes on.
Rock on--er, rap on, Carlos Gosselin. Good luck in all your future endeavors and sorry for your unfortunate last name.

Oh I don't think she's gaslighting the public either. Just lying. I'm referring to it in the context of the kids. That article explains that you can't really gaslight someone you don't know anyway. I've been assuming the kids are aware of her version of the potty training and her version of many other events that she's talked about publicly. She talks about herself often enough they must have heard. So with the potty training, the camping trip, etc., she is gaslighting the KIDS, of course. That's why that meth example is such a good one because it's so similar to how the kids must have felt on the camping trip.

Yes admin in your example at 200 (previous page) that would be gaslighting her kids. However, she's not gaslighting us by telling us this is how I potty trained my kids or with every lie she tells. She's just flat out lying. I agree with those who have said that kate didn't write that blog.

Oh, just speculation based on what we saw at the camping site (basically brow beating them into agreeing to leave) and later what she said in the interview about how the kids actually WANTED to leave and weren't enjoying it.
I assume if she tells the cameras a completely different version of events than what we all saw with our own eyes, she tells the kids the same.
Does gaslighting include editing film AFTER it has been broadcast to remove the parts that made a woman look like a shrew before it is rerun? So she can deny we ever saw what we're SURE we saw the first time? Kate had an accomplice there, but I wonder whose idea it was.
Maybe I missed it I don't know if anyone was saying WE'RE being gaslighted, I always assumed people meant people in Kate's life were victims of her gaslighting behavior, namely the kids. And that we were simply observing it. Just like when people talk about victims of a narcissist, we don't mean US, far from it, we mean her family, friends, and of course the kids.
I've never seen anyone here claim to be a victim of Kate. That would be quite a stretch! As if! :)

Kate didn't say the "good news" was about her. For all we know, she going to announce the winners of the wantable contest, and post them on her website and on twitter.
And if her "coming soon" in her tweet is anything like "coming soon" when her website first opened, her sheeple are going to have a long wait. Her "inspiration" tab still says "coming soon".
"Soon" is one of the words that Kate overuses again and again. It could mean a week, a month, a year, or never.
One of her favorite activities is teasing.
However, I would consider Robert's book being rereleased as "Good News!" and I really do hope that's "coming soon".

Either Twitter or Wantables, or both, have knocked some reality (the kind us mediocre people live in with rules and consequences for our actions) into Kate about the ADS she disingenuously posted which was in violation of their TOS re: marketing and sales. I wonder how many of her fans believe she actually bought the stuff she's marketing because of the conveniently misleading wording she used in her blog post.
Haven't read all posts, so sorry if someone already said this. The term "gaslighting" comes from the movie Gaslight. It was the story of a sophisticated con man who married a young woman so that he could financially benefit (don't remember the specifics). Very slowly, he manipulated situations (ex. giving her a family heirloom necklace, and then removing it from her purse, rearrange or remove pictures, etc.) to convince her she was going crazy. She began to doubt her own reality and became isolated and fearful. His final act was to lower the gas, making the lights dim--that is where the term come from. In modern days, it is often described as "crazymaking" behavior. IMO,in order to be Gaslighting, and not just lying, there has to be the dual components of intentional manipulation for the purpose of driving someone crazy for personal gain. The skillfulness of the manipulation is often accomplished by burying a small truth within the lie. So, I agree that some of Kate's lies qualify for that term,but not all. Many of her lies are reactive and defensive, not proactive and offensive (meaning, actively done to another--most of what she does is 100% offensive) Great movie, by the way--Charles Boyer and Ingrid Bergman.
Maybe the good news is that she's sending Milo on a very long journey to a place where there is no internet.

My response to Math Problem 179:
24 hrs x 60 min/hr = 1,440 min x 95% = 1,368 min that they would be in their rubber panties and therefore only 72 min in pullups.
However, she said they used pullups at night.
A typical night for a toddler is 9 hr x 60 min/hr = 540 min which is obviously much more than 72 min.
Put into hours alone, if they wore pullups at night, that would be 33% to 38% of the day rather than the 95% she wrote. The only way I can make her statement work mathematically is if they wore pullups only one night a week.
In other words, Kate contradicts herself in the same tweet. She's not very good at math.

Almost, caught up and see that some have already said what I said. The key component, I think, is the motivation. The perpetrator of gaslighting is not deceiving himself--he is deceiving others. For the purpose of some kind of very specific gain.
I think that Kate lies to support her massive denial and delusions of grandeur. Unfortunately, it is her 8 little Roombas job to support Mommy's delusion. At least one of her kids is on to her--just a matter of time until the rest are, too. Kate is gonna have alot of 'splaining to do once the kids are free to read the public record.

A Lifetime movie, Unstable, fits the Gaslighting term perfectly. It's actually not a bad movie.
Formerly Duped, yes, so glad they're at least filming one more season. I've read up on the area and some of the cast. I'm completely hooked and will probably watch reruns until the new season comes on to Netflix.

While Kate is a cruel manipulator I doubt she has ever seen the movie Gas Light, or the play, nor knows the term. She is sneaky and attempts to raise her blamelessness to an art form (I got her beat, I just blame ambien. Works every time. I point to every celebrity who has used the drug as an excuse as proof) but she lacks the sophistication to pull off an actual gas light on somebody. Kate cannot remember from day to day what story she has told, resulting the appearance of her being an extreme pathological liar. Which she may be. I don't know. Clearly she is self-centered. She would blame forgetfulness if confronted (see recent pull-up tweets) otherwise she just ignores it (see "I have always used coupons" v "I remember the early days with the twins when I didn't use coupons"). After all, she had to have a TV show to keep the memories of the "adventures" (gag) with her 8, count 'em 8, children dontcha know. I truly believe she doesn't think beyond the moment and says whatever makes sense to her at the time, the past be damned, it so silly (in her mind). Kate considers herself "clever" (she is not, she is so transparent it's laughable). Even with the potty training of her 6 on film, she doesn't remember it - which is why the subject of that latest blog is ridiculous - if you can't remember what you said and did 2 hours ago, 6 years ago ain't gonna be crystal clear. Add that to the fact that she thinks she is the perfect, role-model mother even if she watched the potty training, compaction episodes while drafting that post, she'd not see the horror. Sad, sad, so very sad. For her, her children most of all, and her blind young "fans". Her older, grandmother "fans" should just be horsewhipped. I don't say that lightly, as I would NEVER whip a horse or any animal, let alone my children. To be clear, I made lots and lots of mistakes raising my two, and learned much on the way. The fact that they are both happily married with wonderful, joyful children of their own and successful in their chosen careers is but a tiny part the result of my and my husband's rearing techniques. Pity Party 172 -- Jon was working full time when KK potty trained the kids. The younger kids were about 4 when KK and TLC badgered, cajoled, browbeat, what have you, Jon into quitting his employment and staying home to be KKs full-time whipping boy. He once said that was the worst decision he ever made. IMO, his worst decision was marrying KK, but quitting his job was right up there.
Admin -- I'm with Gas Light, Ex Nurse, and the others. What KK is doing isn't, strictly speaking, gas lighting. You really should watch the movie if you can. It's very good. A real classic, when that word meant something.

I think this is a young, naive, wife or mother that believes Kate is the supermom that she claims to be. She thinks that Kate's great website has actual recipes, advice on freezer meals, and so much more. I wish someone would refer her to a real "mom" website that can help her.
The thing I always hated when watching the original show was that Jon and Kate explained everything as if they were the FIRST parents to have children. "The kids love crayons so we went to the Crayola Factory". Ummm, Jon, kids have loved crayons for a very long time :). Give rewards and make a sticker chart when potty training-ummm Kate-parents have been doing that for years also. I think it is basic knowledge that boys tend to start later and girls are a little easier. All you have to do is ask 1 or 2 friends to learn that. Her advice was nothing new-she just repeated basics that parents have been doing forever! Last time I checked teachers weren't changing diapers in middle school.

KK THE NURSE should know that boys develop neurologically much slower than girls do. Since elimination is a neurological process, or at least the sensation of needing to eliminate and the ability to control it is, there's no point in pushing it. If the development isn't there yet, the ability isn't there yet. And her "rewards"?! Mini M&Ms are minuscule. Those kids didn't get much of a reward, and they certainly didn't get much praise, except for the twins squealing with excitement sometimes.

Add another one that just flat can't stand KK. Readerlady, I understand exactly what you're talking about if you saw KK in person. I was watching the clip w/that precious toddler sitting on the potty chair, with that monster looming over him and then shutting off the light and leaving him, and was furious! That age was when she was beating them and picking them up by the hair!
I was surprised to find myself thinking that even though I'm five feet tall, and probably weigh about half as much as she does, I would just LOVE seeing her in person and take her down...and KEEP her down!! She is (as my children would say) tacky, rude, mean and nasty!! A total waste of skin.
Not surprising that she uses M&Ms as a reward--she doesn't do anything unless she is rewarded in some way. I know a lot of folks do this, but I preferred to reward them with praise. If there was an accident, it was just taken care of--no punishment or demeaning necessary. As readerlady pointed out, potty training is a neurological function--either they are ready or able or they are not. People who claim that their kids were trained at younger than 2 years old (I know there will be exceptions to this! Just speaking in general terms), were actually the ones who were trained--to recognize the outward signs that their child was going to go pee or poop. Or, by putting them on the potty after having food or drink. That is different from a child who can actually recognize the signs in time to get to the bathroom.
Also, since the tups have older siblings, that probably was incentive enough. Ditto in preschool--learning by example. But, of course, the laws of biology doesn't apply to Kate, do they?

Admin-I totally agree with you on this. Food should never be used as a reason for punishment or reward. How many parents have threatened their kids that they're going to be sent to bed without their dinner if they don't behave. And rewarding them with a treat if they do behave is just as bad.
Wasn't that a basis for Pavlov's theory? Using food to control behavior? It may be a good way to train animals, but it shouldn't be used as a way to raise children to get your bidding. It's just another form of bribery.
I also think it may possibly cause major food issues for them in the future.
When my grandchildren were potty trained, they got rewards in the form of praise. That's the best reward a child can get-knowing that something they did made mommy and daddy proud of them.

I have 3 sons, aged 30 28 27. I was so blessed during PT training. My oldest son didn't have a little potty, he started out on the T. I stayed with him to balance him about almost 3 and then he got it quick and he went to undies. Then when his younger brother hit TP, he saw what his older brother was doing and he got it just like the older and my youngest was the same way. A couple of years later, I asked them how they did it that quick and the middle son said, I saw what he was doing and I wanted to be like him.

Yes. I can completely understand how this kind of thing can lead to eating disorders. When food is used as a way to control something, by either giving it or withholding it, you learn that food is a tool that can be used to control something. I also think it's not a good to talk a lot about dieting or good nutrition, it teaches kids it should be something to be preoccupied with.
Eating disorders in my opinion are largely about control and preoccupation. Being able to use food as a tool to control your body. Obsessing over every calorie. If you never realize that food is a tool, but rather just see it as nourishment to make you feel good and energized and a time to sit, relax and are able to eat until you feel better and no one tells you when to stop or go, and to be able to just bond with family and friends as you refuel, it seems to me much harder to get to a place where you are using food as a destructive tool. Food should just be what it is-- food.

Admin, I'm not a sports fan so no worries there. I just realized paying almost $ 60 per mo and I couldn't get Animal Planet, History Channel, NatGeo. What the heck!! I'll just stream stuff. I'm already getting my office set up. Have a nice big monitor. No commercials, pause button for potty breaks...
I've read some blogs about people doing it, people have broken down the cost and most people are able to go cable free with almost EVERY show they like for under 30 bucks a month. That's dramatic compared to the average cable bill. I can hook up my mac to our TV and can watch anything streaming on the TV not to mention the built in TV apps like Netflix/Hulu.
I love HBO's streaming app, I would pay separate for it and get rid of cable.
Still haven't solved the sports problem.

My guess about her big reveal is that she's going to announce that her cookbook is available. I'm guessing that she probably put it together through one of those "sell a cookbook to raise money" sites (likes schools and church ladies use). Relatively small investment and you can sell them for whatever you can get. There have been far too many twitterbots asking for her recipes lately.

Her big surprise is a cookbook. If you go back in time she tweeted on Feb. 17 that her and the kids had a fun filled day with LOTS to eat. That was probably the day that the photographer came to take photos for the book. On twitter @sixymomma8 said she is friends with the 2 photographers that went to Kates house in Feb. to take photos.
Thinking about this Cook-book I'll have to agree that it is what she will be hawking on her website: A self-published E-book of recipes (or if she paid a head of time a DTB but I doubt she would advance that money herself.)
This would explain the reason for her to direct her sheeple to the website. If a publisher had picked up the cookbook it would be available at all major book retailers.
She could still sell it on Amazon if she did Kindle Direct Publishing or on various other 'e-book' friendly websites. However if she wants the money directly she will have probably had someone set up a basic shopping cart program on her website that links to paypal or some other e-merchant.
This trainwreck and fall from such heights is actually pretty interesting.
Last night, I was actually thinking that perhaps she did get a deal for Mady on Disney, but then she wouldn't tease as much about that event because that would take the focus off of Kate-Almighty.
I think she's trying to pre-empt the release of the Gosselin book (Robert where are you?) with her own mediocre recipe book.
The best part of the whole mess is it realllllyis HIS name and it is just hers through trickery (stealing someone's boyfriend...yada yada yada). You know the fans are desperately hoping that the surprise is a new show. I doubt it. If it were, then the network announces it, not Kate. I agree with those who think it is her cookbook. Is it healthy meals for a big family? Not exactly. I think that's a good one because it hasn't been done much but it's not the script she is sticking to. Quick and easy? Um, I guess? Is it my amazing anorexic diet? Sort of, but how does that have anything to do with your gimmick of eight kids? It seems her theme is, These are things that I eat. And I can't see that being that much of a page turner.

Although the quality of the picture (food wrap) was better than normal, I don't think that it was really cookbook quality. I wonder if she realizes that you really need to have a food stylist on board to make everything look, well, picture perfect. And really, how many does she expect to sell without the push of a big publishing house behond her? Selling a cookbook on your web site (unless ALL the money is going to charity) is pretty lame and makes her look desparte. I doubt that there will even be a way to track sales if she's self publishing and selling from her home. I wonder also if she thinks that she'll be asked to appear on all the talk shows to hawk her book. That would be some discussion...why did you self publish? Well, um, like my fans kept asking for one. Yes, but why did you self publish? Well, um, like DID YOU KNOW THAT I HAVE 8 KIDS? I doubt that this will be a best seller. Hm, gosh. Sounds like it might be "illegal" to imply another photograher's work is your own.
I would think a self-published cookbook, which is exactly what that self-publishing company indicated it was, would cost thousands to produce on your own IF you want to make it high quality. Otherwise you have to be very talented to pull it off and let's face it she's not in that group. She would need HELP and she would need to PAY them. It would cost you thousands just to get a decent photographer in there who would have all the necessary lights and equipment.
Unless some angel investor (snark!) is coming in funding this I don't see how she will ever recoup her losses.
Here's an idea. At a real job, you get a paycheck you can count on. For a family of eight shouldn't that be your priority? A paycheck you can count on?
If she does indeed self-publish, I predict she will CHARGE to autograph it. After her few sheeple buy it, the rest will end up in the garage apartment gathering dust. Really, you can get any recipe you want online for FREE.
Admin, Kate doesn't need an investor. She has the money. The question is, would she even hire anyone to help photograph or at the least, proofread?
Having worked on a self-published cookbook as a fundraiser, it's a limited market, even if she is the gr8 Kate Gosselin. This is just a way to get publicity and screw over her sheeple.
Kate's cookbook is probably going to be like one of those with the coil binding that the local church ladies put together to raise money to reupholster the pew cushions. Everyone has one in the back of a kitchen drawer. The kind that's typed on an old Underwood typewriter with the missing C and full of recipes like " ream of Mushroom Tuna Noodle asserole - submitted by Mrs. Emilia Lipshutz". I don't think Kate has anything to offer beyond that kind of cookery.

I agree 100% and I'm a photographer. There's glare on the counter top, a huge no-no and I'd have thought she'd be using some colorful plates, not her own and some dipping sauce perhaps. My mouth dried out just looking at that picture. Although it's a fairly decent close-up for a change.
Oh, I want to add that I don't think it will high quality. She's been allowing Mady to take photo credits so I bet Mady took the pictures. I remember the photo you guys have been talking about. I think it was just a lucky shot. I have not seen anything that good since or before. Sometimes you just take a nice picture by accident.

What an effective concept- working at a real job. But Kate is so much better at scamming/ tricking people...
In the end, this "crookbook" will exist only for her supporters (and maybe some family).
I doubt that it will bring in loads of money for Kate- unless, she decides to charge over $50.00 for each one.

Good morning! It's a beautiful cold sunny day here! Kids sports events today...gotta bundle up!!! Brrrr.....
I know that plastic coil bound book that Auntie is talking about. I helped when my son's elementary school produced one. The chapter dividers were drawings done by the lower grades and they were childishly adorable.
Moms submitted favorite recipes. Just so happened that year one of our mothers was a PIllsbury Bake Off Winner. At the last minute we xeroxed off an extra insert page.
Even with loving preparation and a hyped national winner, we did not make an outstanding amount of money.
Good luck to Kate. She is competing with Pinterest and they have quality photos and recipes.
