The show that unseated 'Jon and Kate Plus 8'

A&E's season premiere of Duck Dynasty last week garnered 11.8 million viewers. The big ratings beat out the previous record holder for reality T.V., Jon and Kate Plus 8, whose episode announcing the couple's split that aired in June 2009 hit 10.8 viewers. That goose is cooked. The successful show about a family who makes duck callers and other equipment for duck hunters has also earned its stars a raise, at more than $200,000 an episode for the family according to most reports.

A&E tonight will repeat the Duck episode that now reigns supreme, as well as a new episode. Check local listings. The episode can also be seen online for free on A&E's web site.

Based on Duck's salaries for similar ratings maybe Jon and Kate's 250,000 an episode figure WAS accurate after all. Hmmm.

I saw part of one episode of DD. It struck me as highly staged. Very different format from J+K+8.
Meh, not for me, but I do get that the show is crazy popular, along with all the cast, so I "redneckognize" them for that.
I also respect that DD is pulling in viewers not looking for a train wreck. But TFW can be oh so proud of her one time only 10 million viewers who watched her family self destruct.

Tweet-le De Tweet-le DUMB said... 3

The $200,000 is for the whole family. I've doubted for a long time that Kate alone made $250,000 and I never read that Jon and Kate made that sum when they were filming together. I thought it was said she made that amount after the divorce.

The Robertsons are a great family. Willie grates on my nerves a little as he seems materialistic, but he's still likable as they all are, young and old. Jase is absolutely adorable. The season premiere wedding brought me to tears. It was so tender. My husband does like it as much as I do, but I fast forwarded to the wedding at the end and he got teary-eyed too. They are already rich; they don't need the money. It's just nice to see a family get along like they do.

I found that $200,000+ figure possible, considering TFW had quite the comeback planned for 2010. January started with the People cover/make-over, then DWTS and book release, and a formal announcement by TLC that Kate Plus 8 and Twist of Kate were coming later that summer. Didn't she also guest host a talk show for a week that year, too? It sure looked like TLC/Discovery were expecting all the viewers to gobble up everything she did in 2010, and may have agreed to pay her quite a bit more. Obviously, this is only my guess, but that 2010 contract was the first opportunity to renegotiate all terms since the split/divorce scandal hit and the show's popularity sky-rocketed. TFW's team should have been able to take 2009's unbelievable ratings to the table for 2010's figures.
Too bad for them that TFW had reached her maximum saturation point by then.
I also thought that it was this very big, pricey contract that was her nail in the coffin. When KP8 was cancelled, her ratings were not that bad for a reality show, but if she was getting paid that much more than other reality stars, than the profits she drew in for the network would have been that much less. Add in her crappy attitude, and you have the perfect recipe for cancellation. JMHO.

Never seen an episode of DD, and don't really care to. lol

As for the Gosselins, it's a shame school starts next week and it seems the kids never got an actual vacation this summer away from home. Well, except the chosen few who accompanied Kate to Jamie's house.

LeeLee said... 9

Another thought on the $200,000+ rumored figure for TFW (thanks to Tweet-le for mentioning the whole family comment for DD). 2010's contract would have also been the first wherin the kids monies would have been figured in from the start. That being said, that rumored amount may have been for TFW and the kids shares, too. Thus, and in classic TFW fashion, she is not lying when she says that amount is way off. After subtracting the kids' shares, her portion would be less than that number.

I adore the Honey Boo Boo family and feel very protective of them when I hear or read people bad mouth them. They are honest and loving with each other, despite their lack of decorum and polish. That being said, watching their show makes me uncomfortable because it is just so obvious that the show is all about highlighting their flaws. The only point of the show seems to be to poke fun at people who are making the most with what they've got. Mama June had her first three daughters while she was still a teen, is legally blind for cataracts that were untreated in childhood, and suffers from an untreated foot injury. And yet, her girls are loved, cared for and are happy. Reportedly, she is banking the lionshare of the family's TLC earnings for the kids' futures. I also recently read she came down hard on one of her girls when some cyberbullying was exposed. They are not perfect, and their lack of manners disgusts me at times, but I can't justify judging too harshly. Considering where they've come from, and where their priorities lie, these are clearly good people.
Wow, three posts in one day. Record for me. Caffeinated and feeling chatty. :-)

Well, this is 2013, not 2010 and Duck Dynasty is A&E not TLC, so you really can't compare. I think she did get a big pay hike from TLC, but I still can't imagine the $250K figure just for her.

Very telling comments from uber fans in the article. They like the family because they're hard working, built their business from the ground up, have stuck to their Christian values, are not materialistic, and are down to earth. Maybe they really helped to fill a hole in reality tv that the greedy families taking advantage of every VIP opportunity just wasn't touching. I didn't really get into it when I saw it myself, but I get the appeal.

I watched this show several times before reaching my fill of Duck Dynasty. However, I never once felt that any of the people on the show were cruel to their children or to their spouses. So that right there, brings them miles above TFW and her horribleness.

It seems to me that everyone on the show is in on the joke. As in, "We' making fun of ourselves, spoofing ourselves, but in a good-natured way." I mean, buying a winery and acting like total rubes? On the other hand, I did get a kick of out Sy sitting down at a sewing machine and whipping out an apron that would fit Miss Kay and not look like a tent. And I personally am glad to see any Vietnam Vet doing well and having a happy life.

Although the religious aspect is a bit much for me, I would watch endless reruns of Duck Dynasty before I'd ever watch a repeat of any J&K+8 episode. So congratulations to the Duck Dynasty crew for beating the old reality tv record!

There is no doubt that Duck Dynasty has many very ardent fans. I've been on other sights, such as Huffington Post or elsewhere, where some aspect or another might be discussed, such as talk about Phil (the original founder) leaving the show after next season. Many of their fans seem to really appreciate the religious aspect, the fact that there is no swearing, emphasis on family and doing good, etc.

Unfortunately, as usually happens, they seem to take the show literally, and don't understand that many of the events are staged.

I love that they are all college educated, worked from nothing to make something for themselves and give back to others. Terry Bradshaw was Phil Robertson's BACKUP in college. I like that the children are seldom seen, and that the teenagers have a say in whether they want to be on the show. And I love that this family LOVES their country. Simple values proving that you don't need sex, violence or terrible language to be entertaining.

They all have relationships of decades, so they all came up together, from struggling poor to rich - those pretty wives did not marry for money for sure. They were all poor when they first married.

Another anecdote about the Duck Dynasty crew, they told on Live with Kelly and Michael. Jase was in lobby of swanky Trump Tower hotel where the network put them up for the pr tour. Jase said he was mistaken for a homeless person by am employee and was escorted to the door! He was laughing about it, saying how nice the hotel employee was and how he might have done same thing himself if situation reversed. Jase jokes he was ”a victim of facial profiling”. Trump Hotel not used to guests with long beards and camouflage pants!
Imagine the response if anything similar happened to TFMJG! I do not think it would be met with good humor!

I, too, think that $250/episode for the TFW was possibly true around the time of the divorce.

1-High ratings at the time (TLC/TFW too stupid to realize that those wouldn't continue),
2-TFW had quite a few upcoming opportunities booked (how was TLC to know that she'd blow them ALL)
3-The $250k/episode was probably for her AND the kids, and the payoff to Jon to buy out his contract.

The problem was that the high ratings didn't continue for lots of reason.....
1-People got sick of seeing TFW treating herself to lavish trips, one after the other
2-It wasn't as interesting without Jon
3-TLC finally starting showing the TFW for the witch that the was, starting with the Palin episodes
4-Ratings started dropping precipitously, and TLC couldn't justify the sky high compensation for mediocre ratings. And trips which must have cost a fortune.
5-The only trip left to send her on was Europe. And then where?
Not like she's going to go to Africa or India or Eastern Europe or South America.
Well, she could have, but it would have been the Palin episodes all over again.
6-Since she blew all the opportunities, what else was there to do with her? There was nothing left for them to do to expand her brand. She blew everything they tried.

I feel exactly the same way, Leelee. I can't really watch that family for much more than five minutes. After that, I feel the urge to take a long bubble bath. And eat a big green salad. Go figure.

But I must say that Mama June is a real force of nature. And I do respect her for all the inconditional love and caring she gives her family.

When her daughter gave birth to a little girl with three thumbs, Mama June just shrugged it off. "Having opposal thumbs is the developmental evolution that made us humans. My grand-daughter has three thumbs. Therefore she must be a highly evolved being."

No "woe is me", no hand ringing, no dramatics. No "She's ruined!" Just "We just love her to pieces, her and her three thumbs. So there!"

Another thing I enjoy about the show is it's simplicity. It's staged and scripted, for sure. But their antics are everyday things... like shopping for a new recliner to replace an old smelly one. Or a donut eating contest. Or real, annual hunting trips (real traditions, not ones created for R show). Or Uncle Si picking out a new hunting dog ( a poodle!) Or Willie taking his daughter's new boyfriend hunting and reading him the riot act. Or Jase fighting his homeowner's association because they won't let him clean and dress a deer in his front yard. At the end of every show the entire family sits down to dinner around an enormous table, takes each others hands, and praises God for their blessings.

It doesn't matter what side of the Gosselin debate you are on, I defy anyone to say that they could relate when TFW & kids left for the Outer Banks for two weeks to a $10,000/wk beach house to "get away from the stress" of her $100,000 kitchen renovation. It has nothing to do with jellusy. It has everything to do with not being relatable even one tiny bit with the rest of America, which at that time was smack in the middle of a terrible recession. TV is an escape and guilty pleasure. There's nothing pleasurable about watching TFW gripe and whine about trivial problems when regular folks were truly in dire straights.

K+8 proceeded in the same manner- freebies, trips and grifting. She made a choice to squeeze every trip & perk she could get out of TLC, rather than have a longer running show which actually depicted some reality. That choice resulted in cancellation. In one breath she admits she was a diva- in the next breath she says she doesn't regret it- in the NEXT breath she says she hates every minute of not having a steady income. But the lack of steady income is/was a result of being a diva. Sigh.

Not only were people tired of seeing Kate go on the trips, they were tired of seeing her act so ungrateful about being there.

The DD Family mentioned that, yes, much of it is scripted after events that have really already happened in their lives and that they ad-lib the whole thing. They also give away a lot of $$ to their community and beyond. I know this because one of my friends is from the area. They truly believe "That to whom much is given, much is expected." From what I heard, they were tired of seeing trash on TV and just wanted to bring back Family Values.

I have this problem as well and we (my pain dr. and I) are trying to keep me from my 3rd spinal surgery for as long as humanly possible.

When I started having symptoms due to the above problems, where I have normally been asymptomatic, he told me to go get one of the soft cervical collars. You can get them from CVS or Walmart and I'm sure many other places as well.

He had me wear it at night and as much as I could tolerate during the day until the symptoms went away, to help open up the limited area that was left and give the nerves that are being pinched time to heal.

I ended up wearing it 24/7 for about 2 weeks and then at night for about another 3-4 weeks and it has made such a huge difference for me. If I start feeling a bit off or getting headaches a lot, I just start sleeping in the soft collar again for a few nights and it fixes me right up.

It was a bit annoying at first, but the thought of another surgery was a great motivator in toughing it out. After the first couple days it didn't bother me much at all.

Usually when you're knee deep in a complex lawsuit your attorneys will advise you not to speak publicly about it. The last thing you want is for opposing counsel to print out some tweet you made that can be used against you. Even the most innocent things can be twisted around. Second, usually when you're knee deep in a complex lawsuit you simply don't have the time or energy to be stirring the pot on twitter about it. You've got enough to do just with meeting with lawyers and staying up to speed on what's needed of you to be messing around on twitter.

This all sounds light hearted but I tend to worry about fans who are so demanding like this, and I also think it's a bad, bad idea to play favorites, like TFW clearly does with people like Emily. She breeds jealousy among the fans, and if anyone is unstable, that's a bad thing to do.

I saw this same thing happen with a celeb I follow on instagram. Lots of people have been posting old rare photos of celeb from 30, 40 years ago and she has been re-instagraming several of them. Except she is mostly just doing it to this one account. Now, the other ten accounts are starting to get jealous demanding why she won't repost their photos which they feel are just as good. It's a bit scary to watch things break down like that. Disorder among the masses! So far celeb is doing the right thing and completely ignoring the grumbling.

I realize that money is what it's about in the business but I refuse to watch that channel anymore because of their blatant exploitation of children. And apparently now Say Yes to the Dress is featuring morbidly obese brides. Goodlord. How 'bout I just Say NO to the Show, any show on TLC.

Haha you guys are too much. No socks here, barefoot.

I can't find what Elaine said now about Honey Boo Boo but I remember being disgusted. I think it was about how people love to laugh at them or something. I remember thinking, she's a CHILD.

Done with, you make a fair point but I think we have to be realistic. Celebrity snarking is never going away. Look at all the comments on the People article. You can't stop this train. Sometimes, people go overboard, that's just sort of part of it. Just as much as people think TFW's "haters" go overboard I can point to plenty of examples of fans going overboard--what's the difference? I would suggest the opposite, maybe people who are getting so upset that some people don't like certain hated celebrities, from TFW to the Kardashians, to Gwynth Paltrow, to anyone else in the category, should give it up. Who cares? How is it hurting them? It doesn't hurt me if TFW or any of those D-listers have fans, who cares? It's just silly snark or celeb fandom, it's really never should have been such a war in the first place. I think the cute sock comments tonight show so much of this is just all in good fun. Some people like celebrity snark, some people hang out at political sites, some people watch soap operas, some people closely follow famous court cases, whatever floats your boat. To each his own, but it is being taken FAR too seriously. The more serious stuff was really mostly a long time ago, like when the show was still on, and when Murt was fighting so hard to change things. Those things are long over with and we're mostly just left with the snark, and a group of people I really like and think are funny. Negativity and taking it too seriously though makes it not as fun and gets to be too much.

I forgot the name of the brand, but there was a feminine product brand in England that got some really nasty hater comments some time back. I suppose they could have started a war with that person. Instead, they laughed it off and made a video responding to it in a completely snarky manner. Why can't we all just smile and snark like that when we don't like something? It was a good lesson in not taking life too seriously IMO, much less your haters. And from a tampon company of all things lol! Anyway I hope that makes sense and would love to hear more from you on this if you want.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 88

I want to add too, isn't it really TFW's choice whether she wants this to continue? Whether she wants to continue to put up with, for example, a People article with thousands of negative comments on it?

If she doesn't like all of the things that come with celebrity, she has a normal life waiting for her whenever she wants. I don't think even she would argue with that. Jon picked a quieter life, and although there is no denying there are still some nasty things said about him, it's usually when he says something publicly, which was his choice, and it's not nearly anything close to what's said about TFW, who is much more public. But that's really up to her and I think she's been pretty clear privacy is not her desire. I will be the first in line to demand we respect it if she ever says she wants privacy.

Dear Done With the Gosselin Crap:

If you want to have nothing further to do with the Gosselin "BS," then the quickest and easiest method to accomplish that is to stop visiting this blog or any other blog or site that discusses the Gosselins. Erase them from your computer history, and from your favorites. Don't worry about what anyone else is doing. Once you do that, you can then forget about this whole saga and move on.

If you feel you are out of line for posting here, then be strict with yourself and stop posting here. Stop reading here. You can do it if you really want to!

As to myself, I don't find myself out of line for posting comments here. So I've decided that I will not change my internet habit in this particular regard.

Best of wishes to you in moving on.

I don't watch the show, so I don't know the answer to this question. Does it appear that the daughters are working toward an education of some kind, to enable them to go out in the workforce and earn a good living? Obviously, Honey Boo Boo is too young, but what seems to be the general trend in the family? A premium placed on education - or gaining a good skill of one kind or another? Or just a lot of eating, farting, and preening?

Admin, in 82, 83, 85 - well said!
Celeb snark is fun! And real celebs are laughing all the way to the bank. When people are arguing about Kim and Kanye naming their baby North West, they are talking about Kim and Kanye. That helps their celebrity and their market value because they are still active topics of conversation.
I don't know who everyone else is here. I do know the interwebs are a BIG place with lots of people able to read about and comment on things that interest them. There are a lot of different posters who comment here, on lots of different things.
If you really want to read extreme ”haterz” comments, try a political site. Especially in Virginia right now, our state is lucky enough to have an odd year election cycle for our governors race. Apparently the two candidates are, according to the opposing party, spawn of satan, worst liars ever, thieves, unethical, immoral, and they regularly shoot Bambi's mother and serve her at political fund raisers. I love gubernatorial election years, the politics obsessed neighbors spew more outlandish statements than usual. Even the comments section of the Washington Post on Carolyn Hax advice column devolves into political name calling about Governor Hairdo, lieutenant governor Coochy Choo, and McBusiness.
Done with crap, I always recommend a walk in the park, or do something to get you outside, unplugged, away from the interwebs to recharge and revitalize.
I like the fun here! We have plenty of good discussion not including anything about TFMJG. she is same old, same old and I sincerely hope she can get outside and recharge, revitalize, and find something that makes her truly happy.
Meanwhile, check out the vicious snark on aaryn or Gina Marie on any Big Brother fan site. Some of it is really funny, some is just vicious. But they signed the contract to be stuck in a house for three months with strangers watching!

No socks here. Not until at at least the first snowstorm and I have to pull out my boots. Even then I only wear my little athletic socks. Even in winter, if I wear shoes, I don't wear socks.

Done with the Gosselin crap...I've never liked the word hate. Didn't allow my girls to say it when they were young. I don't hate TFW. However, I've seen enough of her actions to her ex, her children and the people around her to know I intensely dislike her. And how have I come to that conclusion when I don't personally know her? Because she always spouted the line that hers was the "realist reality show" out there. So I came to the conclusion a long time ago that TFW SUCKS big time. And although I don't know any of the posters on this blog, I come here because they have a sense of humor; we go on great virtual trips; things are discussed that have nothing to do with TFW etc. I understand if you are done with the Gosselin crap and feel it is time to move on. But because TFW insists on staying in the public eye and putting her kids out there instead of giving them their privacy, the snark will continue. When an article comes out about TFW, read the comments. They aren't pretty. TFW and TFW alone can stop all the crap but she refuses to do so. So until she does, bring on the snark.

NJGal51 said... 106

"Fans, haters and, yes, even the people who post here are completely out of line." - I didn't know that it was out of line to have and state an opinion.

I've been thinking about the logic here. So, if the idea is we don't really know who anyone is here--a pedophile, an extreme hater, whatever, then by that logic I either have to put everyone through a four point background check, or just not allow comments at all. How does that make any sense? (they'd love that wouldn't they)

So far, you don't need a background check to post a comment on the internet. It would be a logistical nightmare. Some people might get through who are clearly unstable or angry or off somehow, but that's what moderation is for. The interwebs were supposed to be for everyone, and we have many other systems in place for tracking down criminals and pedophiles before they get to take the internet by storm.

Oddly usually I have to use moderation for people who make it clear they support TFW but whose comment is often over the top inappropriate, uses the C word (that one pops in almost every night, hi!), attacks posters here in an over the top and frightening manner, threatens to out people, or sounds over the top angry and/or unstable. I've posted many pro Kate comments, so it's not that I never post them. It's just the unstable lot seems to come from that side more often than not, it is what it is.

Tucker, yes, it's just common sense and the ability to spot the red flags. When people notice red flags here, they aren't shy to say so. We could be completely wrong, sure. Everyone here could be leading some sort of terrible double life. But it's really not that much different than real life. Your own neighbor could be a pedophile so what's your point?

Isn't that just sort of life? You make the best judgments of people you can and go on with life. If something is off, you should say something. But if nothing looks off why be so paranoid? Some people actually ARE nice people--most people I daresay. So what if you were wrong? You were probably right the other 99% of the time. The safer alternative is to never talk to anyone at all, but that would make for a very dull life. And a dull blog!

If I were doing this for the money, I wouldn't be here. There are a lot of easier ways to make money where I wouldn't have to put up with the trolls.

I made a decision over a year ago to remove any and all Real Housewives from my DVR recordings. It wasn't long after Russell Armstrong committed suicide.

It wasn't just because of that. It was because the format was getting silly. Every episode is about the girls either out to dinner/lunch, at a party, or on vacation together. Someone feels they just HAVE to call someone else out for something petty that happened the other person often doesn't even remember. They invariably end up in a massive fight. Other people start calling other people out or taking sides and next thing you know the whole group hates each other. Ok this was fun for a couple episodes but now they do it....every...single....episode! This can't be a real representation of a group of girlfriends.

I'm glad I edited that from the DVR. There are better offerings out there, better guilty pleasures even, and better reality t.v. even.

My sense of this blog has always been that the posters here are both fascinated and curious about TFW behaviour. You can certainly be perplexed by someone's behaviour without hating them.

The only person who can take the spotlight off Kate is Kate herself. But, her desire to stay relevant will always outweigh any and all negative comments about her, because she ignores them. Kate's children could be free of all of this, if Kate just accepted fame is fleeting. She cannot, and will not give up on getting it all back.

Her cookbook has brought her another round of talk show appearances, and book signings, so don't worry about Kate, she's doing just fine. This blog's concern has always been about where the children fit in to her priorities.

Personally, if I knew there were thousands of negative comments being printed and said about me, I would want to protect my children from seeing that perception of me. I would rethink my desire to be a famous mother over being an ordinary, everyday mom to my kids. But TFW needs fame far more than she needs anything resembling mediocre, she said so herself.

So, I imagine TFW gives little thought to anything said here, we are all just jealous of her, end of story.

Since you believe it is time to draw a line in the sand and end this, then I suggest you do exactly that! Go to TFW's site and get on twitter and beg TFW to stop everyone from posting all the ''beyond humiliating BS''.

===========

I have no idea who the fan is who keeps linking the outings, but wow, she/he seems to really delight in doing it. Sad thing is that Kate must see that stuff, knows exactly that the fan is doing some work for BV by posting those links, and does absolutely nothing about it. She just lets it go...exactly the same as she does with the hateful tweets about Jon.

My question is why -- why does she allow this to go on without saying, "STOP, this is my timeline and it needs to end now." I just don't understand it. The hatred on both sides just needs to end. Both sides are stubborn, the old Hatfields and McCoys. That feud lasted, what, three decades? If that pattern continues with the fans and non-fans, TFW will be eligible for senior citizens discounts at hotels and local restaurants by the time it ends.

Poor TFW-all this time she's been using the wrong approach to grifting on twitter.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 134

Anonymous, I find her fans fascinating from a sociological perspective and I think TFW takes advantage of many of them who are clearly not very bright and easily manipulated. Let's face it, it's rare to find a physicist on TFW's timeline and in general rare to find professionals at all there, although there are a scant few.

You are free to think that is "superior" or whatever you want about that but I don't look down on anyone like this. On the contrary I don't like how TFW seems to attract and subsequently take advantage of such people and I have said so dozens upon dozens of times. She lures these people in and accepts countless freebies and makes countless empty promises to them and I think that's wrong and I am going to say so.

You will notice I rarely discuss the teen fans because I never thought most of them were intellectually challenged or easily manipulated. This Emily girl seems nice enough and I bet she will find a nice boyfriend in college in two seconds flat and forget all about TFW. I think fandom is a normal part of development for many teens and they will outgrow it and be normal. Proof the interest is in the manipulation and abnormal fandom, not some normal teenage phase.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 135

Oh Farrah posting your wish list??? UGH! Well at least she's upfront about her grifting, I can almost respect that lol. I thought the wish list was supposed to be an easy way to remember things you are thinking about and considering. Not a wedding registry! Plus you can make it private so it's just between you and Mr. Amazon.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 136

Another note about Emily, TFW dangled a carrot of a sleepover to her this summer. I'm sure it has slowly registered with her it was just a broken promise. Little stuff like this is going to start to register with Emily and make her question this, she seems like a bright girl with a promising future, and I'm willing to bet in 12 months time she will barely remember her obsession with TFW. But those other fans are not going away like I'm certain she will.

She's moved on, to her own getaways this fall. One wonders if Skeeve drops everything to be her paid person when her calendar suddenly has a date, or is his life so not busy either. If TLC has him traveling for another security gig, what will TFW do?

I don't surf the coupon code sites. What I do is when I want to buy something online (outside of Amazon), I Google the store+coupon code and usually, retailmenot is at the top of the results list. And I generally get useful, timely discounts.
When I look at Kate's site, it's not intuitive or inviting. It's nowhere near the top of a results list when coupon codes are Googled.
She's also failing to keep it updated, once again breaking promises.
Kate's coupon site says she'll be updating coupon deals on Twitter and her websites, but she hasn't.
Her initial post promising this was from July 11, and yet no update whatsoever.
You're only as good as your reputation. It's the most important thing you can have going for you. Yet, Kate's sites are woefully not kept current with sporadic if any posts in (way too many) categories.
I just think she'll get bored with this coupon site, just like her blog.
The coupon site will never reach what CC is and you know what else? There's a glut of coupon sites already out there. What you'd have to do to compete or even beat the well established and experienced competition, I don't know.
Whatever it is, it's not going to come from Kate.

**************
I am guessing that Skeeve's first allegiance is to TLC. He knows which side butters his bread. So if there is any conflict, he will choose the TLC gig over ferrying around Ms. Krieder to her no-doubt sparsely attended book signings and what have you.

I used to mock McSkeevy for this nonsense gigs, but have come to realize that TFW is unable to handle even the simplest interactions with people who are not under her direct control. Thus, Steve (or some other buffer) is needed to prevent TFW from having a melt down when exposed to public airspace.

I think fundamentally what the Kate Gosselin saga has always been about is Kate getting attention. Kate having twins and parading them around the neighborhood on 4th of July as "The Gosselin Twins!", Kate trying for "just one more" when she knew she didn't need fertility drugs to conceive naturally and having "6 more". Kate soliciting donations and freebies. Kate soliciting the local newspaper to do articles on them (until the articles became less favorable). Kate soliciting for a tv special.

I think at first it was just about getting things for free and getting attention. Fundamentally, I think it's still about that but now you add in the celebrity lifestyle.

Wait--I thought Kate said that she didn't sign up for the negative parts of fame--just for the freebies, attention and flattering portrayals.

Anyway, in my morning search on Google for any results in the past 24 hours, there was zip--except for this blog. There are the usual misdated entries, but that is it, In news, there was a single mention in a Kendra article--a side note, not the focus of the article.

So, in less than a week of a People cover, she is completely off the radar. Her own website doesn't even come up, nor do any fan sites.

As far as the haterz posting here, I suppose they do. But, if they do, they manage to be respectful, even if there is disagreement. For those who can't be civil, I don't think it would be very satisfying to engage in civil conversation and debate--they seem to enjoy the hit-and-run type of comments and Tweets.

Abby Miller on DWTS---please, let it be true! They will have huge ratings, and she is so entertaining--and talented. She has worked hard to be successful in the dance world, and it has paid off. She was not manufactured for a reality show--she is the real deal. It is nice to see hard work and dedication pay off. I am sick of these instant stars, who have been branded their private life for public consumption.

The comment about having "socks" on this website or on Twitter is really ludicrous. Unless you are posting under your REAL name, you are using a SOCK. So pretty much all of the people who support TFW or who are HATERS on TFW's Twitter are using "socks." I didn't read all the way back to who started the whole "socks" comment, but unless that person posted using their real name so that they could be identified, then they themselves are using a "sock". So STFU.

*******************

You can say it's out of line, that's your opinion.

It is my right to criticize and comment on a public figure who blatantly exploits her children for her own personal gain.

I think it's wrong and I say so...exactly how is that out of line?

I've said this before, just because there's no law against it yet doesn't make it right.

Racism was still racism even when it was legal.

Spousal abuse was still abuse even when the "rule of thumb" was created to supposedly protect women.

If it weren't for people voicing their opinions and standing up for what they believe in, a great many things that are now illegal would still be allowed.

I have no pity for Kate Gosselin and will never see her as a victim. She's been the orchestrator of all of this since day one.

She's the only one who has the control to stop exploiting her children. And judging by the most recent (THIS WEEK) example of said exploitation in form of the People article, she has no intentions to stop.

BTW, what the heck does BV outing people have to do with this site?

I second (3rd?4th?) what Dmasy said. I'm so over TFMJG. Half the time, I just skip over posts that are primarily about her. I stay here for the funny, wise and, occasionally, heartbreaking posts from the regulars, old and new.

I've solved the missing sock problem. I buy socks that all look alike. That way, if one disappears, I don't miss it. I did have a sock bandit for a while. One of my kittens had a sock fetish. She'd steal them out of the laundry basket, figured out how to open the dresser drawer and take them from there, and steal them off my bed when I laid fresh ones out in the morning. For a good 6 months after she went to her forever home, I was finding stray socks in the oddest places.

whoaaaa!
I remember seeing M being called the "b" word, which was a filthy thing to do, but never the "c" word. I thought back then that as a mother, Kate should have taken her kids off tv. This was YEARS ago.
The twins were still quite young and yeah, had a bad day here and there, but TLC went ahead and assigned one of the twins to the "brat" character.

I tend to lose socks in the winter, when I may sleep with them on. They wind up stuffed in the sheets at the bottom of the bed, then when the sheets get washed, they might show up in the washer or dryer, all by their lonesome, or sometimes migrate under the bed.
Of course, they tend to accumulate with the dust bunnies behind the washer too.

My name finally came up on the list and I've nearly finished it. It's very good. Some adult language, but nothing too bad. You'd probably hear worse standing on the steps of your local Junior High, or even the Elementary school. It's not a particulary twisty mystery, but the characters are intriguing and it's well-written. If you like thrillers/hardboiled detectives, check it out. OT, so fly by if you want.
I watched "The Little Couple" this week, and shed a few happy tears. They are so very kind to each other, their love is easy to see. And now with little Will in their family, there is even more love shown. It is such a treat to watch something so positive on TLC, as they certainly have more than their share of awful stories. I look forward to watching them every week, they make my heart happy, and it will be so interesting as time goes on, whether they will stay this way, or go down the undesirable path. Their love for little Will is such a joy to watch, how freely they give hugs and kisses, and say words of love to each other, all of the time. Such a huge difference from other t.v families! When I watch The Little Couple, I see lots of reality. Sure, some things are likely scripted, but you just can't bury the amount of reality that IS shown weekly. I wonder if they have already decided, before hand, just how long do they want to be on T.V, to have their show run for. I hope T.V does not ruin their marriage, like those who went before them. But I have the feeling that if their marriage was starting to crack, because of their show, that they would be smart enough, and hopefully love each other enough, to stop the show, and get back to the beginning, when they first fell in love, without cameras in their faces. I so want this family to succeed, and even though I love this show, I would not want them to still have their show if they were miserable, and were doing it just for the money, like those who have gone before them. I would not consider that THEIR KIDS were MY KIDS, and that I felt like I was part of their family, and could not live without seeing them on my T.V screen every week. Thank goodness they would have no money issues without the show, as they both have great careers without their show. I am excited for when they bring their little daughter home, to join their family! But unlike some of you-know-who's fans, I would not die if they were all of a sudden stopping the show. I just can't wrap my brain around some of the comments those fans make, how intrusive they are, who act like they can't live without the Gosselin kids in their lives, who need to know every detail about them. I guess my brain just isn't wired that way. Thank goodness.

Then I went to my trusted site retailmenot which suggested the code rmnsummertoms. You guessed it, worked on the first try! 5 bucks off, done.

My favorite, too, admin. Easy to navigate, I find what I want, and I've never had a problem. Kate's...not so much.

I believe you can set up automatic tweets, so I doubt she tweets anything about the coupon site in actual time. It explains why random out of context tweets pop up from her.

Anyone know how many copies of People sold with her mug? Do they release those figures?

How long before Kate fires herself from her pathetic coupon site?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 193

Good question Ingrid. I wonder if Kate will make public her pink slip letter explaining that Kate just didn't fit the authenticity of the brand Kate and that Kate unfortunately now part ways with Kate and Kate's staff. Sincerely, Kate.

I read this as "which side butters his head." Well, who knows what he and Katie do in private? lol.

LOL, Virginia Pen! I wonder who is butterer and who is butteree!

I hope Kate has a CA signed from Kate and Kate's staff.

"Sheri -- there were some on here very concerned that this would be the next target. That was one of the reasons for discussion; the other was because Kate sees it happening on her timeline and does nothing to stop it."

Ah, okay. I could only skim through comments and didn't make the connection. It just seemed so left field.

And I agree the fact that Kate doesn't do more to monitor her twitter feed is sad. Especially when it comes to the bashing of her children's father.

Wanna know what Cara and Mady's current FAVORITE coupon is at http://couponsbykate.com/ ? TOMS save $5 on a $25 purchase(&free shipping too!)!

******************

Wanna see my kids' poop? Wanna watch them throw up? Wanna see them cry and ask their Daddy why he isn't coming home?

Wanna see my kids? Wanna know what THEY use coupons for?

It'll only cost you hits to MY website, following ME on Twitter, buying MY cookbook, getting ME on the cover of People...

I swear the woman knows no shame.

Six months, maybe nine. That's how long Kate's coupon site will last. Especially with all the invalid coupons. Can't say that I really care, though...I use Retailmenot or Coupon Cabin, and won't give her site the hits.

Golly gee, I hope some anonymous poster doesn't accuse me of taking food out of Kate's kids' mouths. I might lose sleep over that.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 199

Why would a 12 year old be clipping coupons anyway? Shouldn't that be something only adults are concerned with? I don't think a child should be burdened with trying to save money on essentials like shoes.

I think she's taking food out of Tom's workers mouths since she's providing bogus coupons and now people won't buy.
