Trying to stop something in the name of your privacy often ends up calling even more attention to it. So it defeats the purpose of what you were trying to do in the first place, which is block something so it can remain private. Sort of a "don't pay any attention to that man behind the curtain" effect. As soon as you say that everyone wants to go look! That is exactly what happened here, no question. Should have just ignored it, never mentioned the curtain in the first place.
Zondervan might actually own the copyrights (as her publisher).

That's a good point. Just like I don't think she has any standing whatsoever to complain about all her contracts being published. That would be up to the various companies like TLC or Lane to pursue.

I'd like a really good turkey soup recipe.
I've tried making it, & it always seem to be missing a certain something. I use the carcass & add in noodles & leftover turkey, but still not a lot of flavour. Any hints?
We don't blindly make up fantastical stories or explanations as why this or that was done, refusing to acknowlege the error of their ways. So, the fact that Robert may have copyright issues is something that has been acknowleged and discussed already.

Quite true. I see the copyright issues in the book, most glaringly with the contracts and the journal. I don't really see it with her book excerpts. What Kate needs to understand though is that revenge is not always the best course. Sometimes a wise man walks away and tries to just move on.

Thank you for this clarification - it will be interesting to see how this plays out. This doesn't even take into account that if anyone has a beef about copyright issues in TFW's books, it might be Zondervan. Imagine - TFW bringing yet another loser case.

I don't know. Not necessarily. I think Rule 41 was a cheap out for her. If she tried to negotiate with Robert I doubt she'd ever be happy with the terms and the next thing you know she'd actually be going through with the suit and we know she didn't ever want that unless it was just an open and shut order granting it.
Rule 41 was a way for her to make a clean break without much consequence. It was the safest bet. A get out quick loophole, abort the mission because it all went to sh&t, if you will.
Well, whatever happens in the future, if Robert releases a paper copy of it, I will read it. I'm a cranky ole traditionalist who doesn't read books on Kindles or Nooks or what ever this fangled technology is. I want a book with pages that I can turn LOL.
It boggles the mind to think that, despite the negativity surrounding TFW (which is all her own doing),she still claims to be dreaming of her second chance to be a star. Does she think she can somehow make everyone forget that the book existed? That she can claim copyright (thereby admitting to beating her kids) and somehow still become a media darling?
She claimed back in Sept. that her TLC contract was at its very, very end and interest in signing her and the kids was "huge". It is now December. She doesn't seem to realize that, in time, her claims will end up being disproved. If she claims there is huge interest in signing her, then all anyone has to do is wait and see if that happens. Remember when she kept hinting and wink-winking about a new show? Two years later, no new show. She lied, and the passage of time proved that.
The sheep are the same. When TFW dropped the charges against Jon, the sheep swore that she did it in exchange for Jon testifying against Robert. Then she ended up dropping the charges against Robert.
All those wild claims TFW and the sheep make, but the passage of time shows them to be lying every time. When will they ever learn?
I don't know if this 'chatter' about Kate suing Robert is true or not, but I get why she might be shitting bricks. The chasm between TV Kate/blogging Kate/Tweeting Kate and journaling-real-life-Kate is as big as, well, that waste of space called the Grand Canyon.
To wit, Kate's account of beating a little boy for having a bowel movement accident after 5, count 'em, 5 days of potty training stands in stark contrast to this missive excerpt that she penned for The Stir, about potty training:
"At this point, you may be wondering why on earth I wouldn't choose to use modern day pull-up trainers? Well, to be very honest, it really helps to connect the dots if the child can feel wet. They won't like the feeling and will be more apt to stop playing and get to the potty -- fast!...Lastly, I always tried to stay calm and not get upset when accidents happened, no matter where. It's very important that potty training is a GOOD and positive experience, no matter what..."
This kind of revelation will be like finding out that Martha Stewart really puts canned cranberry sauce on her Thanksgiving table, like Tony Robbins wears lifts and is really 5'2", like the Pope is secretly married, like Liberace was a raging heterosexual.
The initial lying about being so poor and rifling through couch cushions pales in comparison to what's in Robert's book, and Kate KNOWS it.
By they way, according to Kate's journal excerpts in Robert's book, Kate did not look favorably upon mothers who used Pull Ups (lazy mothering, I think she called it?), until she began to use them herself.
Then, she thought they were the greatest thing on Earth...

I do not understand why Robert is having such a difficult time releasing his book on Kate. IMHO, Kate is a "nobody"/reality "star". The author Kitty Kelly has written several books about real celebrities/stars (Nancy Reagan, Elizabeth Taylor and OPRAH WINFREY. All of those books saw the light of day. Also, Vanity Fair is allegedly planning an expose on actress Gwyneth Paltrow. And yet Robert's book about a D-list "celebrity" was only released for 2 days? I know (hope) I 'm wrong but are we sure Robert, Kate and Jon are not in cahoots to extend the Gosselin's long since expired 15 mins. of fame?

Start with a mirepoix of chopped onions, celery and carrots and saute in olive oil, and even a bit of butter if you'd like, for about 6-8 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper (hold back a little, you'll be doing this again later).
Add herbs. Dried thyme works nicely. I used dried tarragon today, just because it struck my fancy. I then added fresh lemon juice (brightness!), a knob of fresh ginger and a good bay leaf.
I ended with adding chopped turkey, turkey stock and cooked rice.
Simmer low 30 minutes.
Season to taste.
This is your basic approach to building flavors in a soup; it's a layering effect.
Jolie Jacq: try putting in chicken soup base, seasonings, any old spices, like Kate does any crap that is laying around, put in there(if you are following the Kate way of soup & cooking). PS: caution: don't try this at home! Just kidding! LOLOLOL!
Seriously, put in veggies, a veggie soup cube, like 1-2, or some salt a teaspoon or 2. Or a can or half a carton of turkey broth or veggie broth, then skip the salt. You can even use season salt, some garlic(if you like garlic). This is all to taste, not to go overboard with, especially if you have to watch your salt intake. Cilantro, or parsley, parsnip, carrots, celery, onions, will give it more flavor. Then your noodles. Good luck.
She has lost her mind. Filing ANOTHER lawsuit? Wow. She loves to spend the kids money. If she files for copyright infringement, that means that the things written in her journals are TRUE. Why would she go to the trouble of copyrighting LIES?
Did she not hear about the horrors of discovery when they were trying to get her to drop the suit? She will have to go through discovery in this lawsuit. There is no way around it. Is she just filing to be filing then get things in a frenzy and then drop? Why is she spending her children's money.
The only way the kids can get any money is sue the heck out of TLC for taking their childhoods and allowing their parents to sign their childhoods away for money, mega millions. They deserve to be compensated for that at least. Also drive the point across that the shooting schedule took them out of school, no time for after school activities for all the children.
Even the Andy Griffith show scheduled their filming schedule around or film a show that he was not in, so that Opie could play baseball, sports, games and be a normal kid. Those days are gone. It is all about the money.

I just hope she remembers who she will have to answer to some day. As for the twins staying close to her side, being her little cheerleaders in all she does, well that may change fairly quickly. When my 3 daughters were around the age of 12-14, each became "Daddy's girl", their Dad could do no wrong! I know they still loved me, but it was just natural that they turned to their Dad. Lol-I was still the parent who did all of the work for them, while all he had to do was spend time with him! I think most daughters got thru this stage, and I bet Jon's daughters will be the same with him. Then lookout, TFW will be blowing gaskets!

If you ever get the chance, try to read on one. Just to see what it is like.The screens do look like pages from a book and are not hard on the eyes. You can increase the size of the letters and this is a big plus for me. I like that when I'm out in public the world cannot tell what I'm reading. I like that I can carry several books with me where ever I go.
I go to amazon.com and can preview a book and read almost an entire chapter without paying any money.What I like best is that I can buy a book anytime, anywhere and start reading immediately, even at 2 am in the morning!

Marie, that is exactly what I was thinking. Robert has said that he only used 10% of the information he found, and he had MUCH more (including photos). In my opinion, TFMJG knows what he has, and is desperate to keep that information from being released!
That hateful AW person is sticking his nose out again, linking to his page and his failed 'book'...he is just beside himself that Robert is still being discussed and he is NOT. Too bad, too sad.
Now she is going to possibly file another lawsuit.

Let's not forget that when TFW first filed the suit, they claimed the 20 Does were haterz from PA. One sheeple wanted to know if the DA was notified of the suit. It was made clear over and over again that in a CIVIL suit there are only money damages. No police, no criminal charges, no DA. When TFW dropped the suit against Jon, they said that Mr. Tuma was a good lawyer because he kept Jon out of jail :>O

Just something a sheeple said. They fancy themselves her personal PR agents. Lord knows why. I think like any good PR person they now and again put out "feelers". This may be just that, a feeler. To use our reactions and thoughts and opinions about this idea for a new suit. That way they get to see where the flaws are, where the weaknesses are, how the public reacts. If it's a no go (i.e. we rip it to shreds with how flawed it is) they won't push it on Kate. If it comes through the test period okay, they may contact Kate and push the idea on her. Sad.

If this rumored copyright filing is true, then TFW just got herself into a very, very bad situation. She will have to not only prove that this is copyright infringement, but she will also have to admit that the journal entries about beating the kids and abusing the dogs are true. She will also have to admit that she lied about Robert's book being untrue in her previous lawsuit (opening herself up to be sued by Robert and also impeaching herself in the process). If she loses, the book will come back out. If she loses, she will have had to admit to the world that she is a child beater and a liar, and it will be known that she is so vindictive that she will file false charges against someone just for revenge. It's a lose-lose situation for her, no matter what the final ruling is. This is so typical of TFW. Another of her knee-jerk reactions without any thought to the possible outcome.

True. It's ironic, though, how to have to test the waters with the non-fans considering that they think that we are so incredibly stupid! They couldn't possibly discuss any of that on their own. They couldn't even figure out that Jon didn't cave on the lawsuit, and they still think that , one could receive a prison sentence if found "guilty" in a civil court proceeding.

I'm merely going by what I've read on Twitter. It was said that it was filed Friday, but PA doesn't have e-filing. Personally, I'm not sure this is anything but deflection.

And the judge hasn't even signed off on the lawsuit dismissal pursuant to Rule 41. I would think you want to be sure the judge has signed on the dotted line before you plunge into your next suit, especially with Rule 41 being questionable here. If the judge says no to this dismissal they'll have to deal with that one first.
The bully boy and his fangurls who are talking about the new lawsuit for copyright infringement are the same ones who warned something big was coming August 26th, which turned out to be the first lawsuit. That's why people are giving them a little more credibility than usual.

Actually the bottom line is a woman who has spent the last seven years selling herself as a perfect parent and mother was exposed as a child abuser. Because she has decided to "sell" good motherhood, that is a matter of public concern, whether you are interested in her diaries or it is private or not. And, if she threw them out in the garbage, it is not private no matter how much Kate thinks it is. It's fair game. You strip away privacy the second you throw anything in the trash in PA. Don't like it, shred your documents.
Substantial portions of the Penn State scandal were all "private" including substantial written documents. That was not the bottom line. The bottom line was a public figure was a child abuser, and that needed to be exposed, copyright or not. You would get nowhere trying to cry copyright in that mess.
Crying copyright and anything else is going to be a tough sell in court under these circumstances. We saw that very thing happen this time around, she got nowhere. She is not a sympathetic figure and matters of public concern weigh very heavily against copyright. I still think the contracts are a bigger problem since those were not "necessary" to know, not most clauses anyway. With the exception of a few clauses that talked about the kids and their hours and payment, the rest was not relevant to the public concern and that would weigh more in favor of copyright protections. But since Lane and TLC have most likely decided it's just time to move on, I doubt that will ever be a lawsuit.

I disagree. What is the one thing Kate desperately wants more than anything, something she wakes up dreaming about every morning (according to her interview with the Toronto Star)? Another shot at TV stardom - another reality show, or a talk show, or even a cooking show. Well, her nastiness and meanness are so well-known that nobody wants to watch her on TV. She is helpless to stop her slide into obscurity. She reminds me of someone who is falling down a cliff - now and then she can grab something to slow her slide, but then she loses her grasp and keeps on falling.
Bullyville was feeding them information about the original lawsuit. It doesn't make as much sense that BV would be involved in this lawsuit, only because I imagine Kate & BV having a falling out because well, it's those two and because Razzy is nowhere to be seen. Who knows. I guess we'll just see.

I agree. First, the dismissal against Robert must be approved by the Judge, THEN when we see actual proof, we will know the truth. I think that they're just tweeting to hear their heads rattle and trying to get others in an uproar!

I have a kindle but still visit the used book store and regular book store. Just so you know, there are hundreds of free books on amazon.com (or .01 books) that be put on the kindle- all the classics are free- Little Women, Heidi, Jayne Eyre, Pride and P etc, Alice in Wonderland etc. Popular authors may also have one or two of their books available at an extra low cost, lower than the stores= maybe 99 cents to 2 dollars. I get those.

I subscribe to bookbub.com. I put my preferences in and get a daily email with books I might be interested in for free or very low prices. I've gotten many great deals through bookbub. I've got a cover on the kindle so it's like holding a book. And the best thing of all? If I fall asleep while reading in bed I'm not going to get a bloody nose and black eye if it hits me in the face like I did while reading The Dome.

I'm reading The Book Thief now, almost finished. It is beautifully written. I might have to buy it just to have it to read again. What a writer! Wow.
I love books. I love the feel of them, the smell of them, the look of them. I go to thrift stores and buy books, I stop at yard sales to look at books, I bring bags of books home from the Friends of the Library Sale, and I borrow books from the library. My car knows the location of each and every book store in the area and heads there automatically ;>) . I also own 2 Kindles -- an early second gen. with WiFi only and a 3rd gen. Kindle Keyboard with free 3G plus WiFi. I recently acquired a Kindle Fire. I wasn't sure about getting an ereader at first, but now you will have to pry my Kindle from my cold dead hands. It's wonderful to be able to travel and have a number of books at my finger tips without having a suitcase full of books to drag along. If the weather is bad or I'm sick and can't get out, I can go online and find something to read. As others have said, there are any number of free books available plus many inexpensive ones. Books that have been out of print for years are now being released on Kindle.
NJGal -- bookbub has some good listings, but the site I've found most helpful and comprehensive is www.freereadfeed.com. They're updated regularly, list hundreds of free books, and can be sorted by genre. They don't have a daily news letter sent to your email, you have to go online to their site, but they are the best. I know of at least 10 different places that list free books -- many of them with daily email notices. If Admin says it's okay, I'll post all the links here.
I have the earliest (least expensive) version of Kindle. It has served me well for years and has actually come to feel like a "real" book. The recent changes in airline rules that allow me to read during take off and landing make me travel happy.

Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosch. She has a blog site that morphed into a real book. Her art is primitively charming and her words dance with humor and insight.
I believe the "talk" about threatening another lawsuit, this time on copyright infringement, began with TFW.
I cannot fathom an attorney putting themselves that close to defending her journal, defending her "right" to own those words. And certainly not in a civil matter. What attorney would risk such a case?
How do you separate the abusive behavior from the right to keep it secret? And again she did not do anything to protect her words that day (out for the trash) or in the many years since.
Certainly in my mind does not keep within the spirit of copyright protection.
Again this is so convoluted, (which makes me believe she wants to do it) that you would use copyright law to protect something written how long ago? And something that you left unprotected, in fact you gave it away to the trash man without destroying it.
I just came across this in the Sarah Palin recap when I was looking for something else. Remember that scene where Sarah Palin takes Kate to a shooting range? Kate then turns to the camera and says she understands people having guns and that she would do anything to protect her children INCLUDING using a GUN.
Baw-hhahaha. What a hypocrite. She and her sheeple implied they wanted Jon's parental rights stripped when he used his gun when someone entered his private property and he had warned them to leave. Someone should remind her of her previous thoughts on gun control.
OT weekend movie reviews.
We saw Dallas Buyers Club with Matthew mcConahey, Jennifer Garner, and Jared Leto. Wonderful movie, terrific acting, but very raw and gritty. based on true story of a redneck with AIDS in the mid eighties and his search for ways to survive. Very surprising, I dragged dh and he enjoyed it. there will be Oscar nominations for the acting in this film.
Dd saw Catching Fire, hunger games sequel, and loved it. That is on my list but I have some live performances on the list this week

And there we go again with the stupid and stubborn and juvenile never quit mentality.
Some things you SHOULD quit. For instance, you should quit going after your ex four years after you split, rather you should try to move on. There's also no shame in quitting something that turns out to be a bad fit for you, such as a job, hobby, or sport. Sometimes things come up with your family in your personal life that require you to quit something, and that's okay too if it means your family will be better off. For instance maybe you signed up for three church committees and now you realize you're exhausted and never home. No shame in quitting one or two of them and reprioritizing. Folks will understand.
Or, you may need to quit a hobby like running because you don't know enough about it yet or you're hurting your health.
I just don't get this never quit thing. I think it puts unnecessary guilt on people who are at a crossroads where quitting is a good choice for them. Rather, I would like a quote that says there is no shame in quitting if that decision is right for you and your family, your health and happiness. Quit with your head held high.
I believe Kate will fight Robert tooth and French nail to stop his book being published. She will never walk away from this. I agree if she were to sue him for copyright infringement, then she'd have to admit the journal is true. I think Robert probably reached some agreement with TLC and any other corporations not to print actual contracts, but he surely can publish what they contain as long as they are not published word for word.
I believe she was totally alone for Thanksgiving. Steve has probably shifted his sights on other endeavors, but as long as she continues to pay his fees, he will be there for her.
I think that picture of the bird on top of her head was taken when she first got the bird. Cagily she posted it like one of the kids took the picture over Thanksgiving break. Wow, nothing like a bird, not house trained, sitting on top your head with sharp beak and claws.
I noticed on her Twitter that the Twitter bots are exclaiming joy over purchasing her cookbook. Funny. She should be embarrassed about how poorly it has sold. Not her, not ever.

Per Wikipedia:
Vexatious litigation is legal action which is brought, regardless of its merits, solely to harass or subdue an adversary. It may take the form of a primary frivolous lawsuit or may be the repetitive, burdensome, and unwarranted filing of meritless motions in a matter which is otherwise a meritorious cause of action. Filing vexatious litigation is considered an abuse of the judicial process and may result in sanctions against the offender.
A single action, even a frivolous one, is usually not enough to raise a litigant to the level of being declared vexatious. Repeated and severe instances by a single lawyer or firm can result in eventual disbarment.
Some jurisdictions have a list of vexatious litigants: people who have repeatedly abused the legal system. Because lawyers could be disbarred for participating in the abuse, vexatious litigants are often unable to retain legal counsel, and such litigants therefore represent themselves in court. Flo: Poor kids, they eat that way, cause, probably afraid, Kate will take food from them and/or other kids will take their food. Since, Kate likes to control how much they eat. I don't buy they BS that Kate has left overs, Kate make just enough, so there is no left overs or second helpings. If there is, it's probably something the kids don't like, that Kate concocted, in the pot, with anything she can grab and toss in the pot. Reminds me of Cher's character in Mermaids. That is why they have bad manners.
Those kids probably fight over the food, we actually saw a little bit of that on CWS, with the tacos, the kids were fighting over who had more, and how messy they got. Okay, I need some clarification from all of you who know more about the law than I do (that would be pretty much everyone). I was reading up on copyright, and intellectual property was listed under copyright. What is the difference? If something isn't specific copyrighted, it can still be protected under copyright as intellectual property. TFW has already tried the intellectual property thing, and now it looks like she might be trying to file the same thing under a different name. Is she (perhaps) just cleaning up the old lawsuit and re-filing it, only changing the name of the charge? Because it looks about the same with regards to TFW's journals. That is, if she is re-filing.
I pulled up the book on my Kindle, and noticed that there was a long passage from MB at the beginning (I only re-read the beginning so far). It was from MB, I believe. Maybe she is claiming copyright for that? But she didn't write that book, Beth did. Those would be Beth's words (Beth's intellectual property), not TFW's, so how can TFW claim that the way someone else expressed ideas is TFW's intellectual property? You can't copyright words, only the specific way they are expressed. They were expressed in that book in Beth's words. And Beth and Jon are both listed as co-authors, so wouldn't they have to cooperate if she wants to sue for copyright for passages used from MB? I'm confused.

Intellectual property is the tangible thing at issue like your book. Copyright is the abstract idea that there is an invisible protection around it that means no one can copy it.

No, I do not think that Robert is playing everyone. I think he will re-release the book. Robert has a LOT new to say, and I hope he says it.

Does kate drive one of her luxury vehicles to Chipotle to take herself and the kids or a couple of kids to eat, while eating with those grifted Chipotle gift cards? Does she not have a conscience? No.
I don't have a problem with the kids going, it's just that kate can afford to pay her way for the kids, not grift on twitter for free things like they can't afford nothing. They can't help the way kate is. It is not their fault.
I read that poem and it just saddened me. What a bleak outlook in life about Christmas. Written in that poem is sadness, hopelessness and despair. Even kids that are really poor that have a parent, either single mom or dad have a brighter outlook than this. Some write letters to Santa at the North Pole which they don't know actually winds up at the local Post Office dead letter office which hopefully they will be adopted by Secret Santa's to fulfill the child's wishes.
Every Post Office in the U.S. has them. The kids rarely ask for anything for themselves! They ask for things for their parent, and or their siblings. So unselfish and beautiful! Sacrificing something from themselves to hoping Santa would bring something for their loved ones.
This would be a great project for a church youth group to be involved in.

Remona, ITA about Robert. I think the things that he has poked her with on GBB have been nothing but brilliant. You just got served. I have watched it a couple of times and lol everytime. Remember, kate started this whole mess. Robert had all the stuff and didn't intend for it to see the light of day, but kate kept poking and poking and poking until Robert didn't have a choice. But he only printed about 10 percent of what he had. He also warned the POKER that if he was called a liar or taken to court and sued he would release the whole shebang, including pictures. It is her own fault and her fault only. Not Jon's, hers.
I believe he will print The Book as soon as the judge signs the papers and the lawsuit is over, should be very soon. She is just filing this new one as a stall tactic, and I can't believe she got the same lawyer or a new one to take the case.
I watched an episode of Gunsmoke today and there was a guy with 3 other guys they robbed a bank and got away with 10K. The guy holding the money was able to hide it from the other guys and he got caught and went to prison for eight years. For the first couple of years, he would think about what he was going to do with the money, buy and things. Then about the end of his sentence, he started thinking about getting a piece of land, planting seed and working a farm, having something and a woman in the kitchen, humming. Humming, you say? Yes, he said that a woman humming in the kitchen was happy, cooking, cleaning raising the kids and truly happy being a wife and he wanted that. He said it was NOT WORTH the money to spend 8 years in prison, to live in prison when he could of been married, having children and living a decent, upstanding life.
Wish kate would get that through her thick skull, get help, good mental health help and let the kids be kids in the last few years of their childhood instead of slave manual labor robots.

Her 'fans' say she has filed a new lawsuit, but we've not seen the Judge ok her dismissal of the one she continued against Robert when the Judge approved the one she dismissed against Jon (with prejudice). This is totally a set up. Make things as wild and crazy as possible then cry that you have to piece and patch and that you can't raise eight kids without a ton of freebies it's too much just for you.

I think he got some undeserved criticism when he returned Shoka snd Nala to the breeder. He did what was best for the animals and to keep the peace with Kate. The thing I did not care for was for Jon to have a pap there to photograph the dogs being taken away. Not understanding what his motivation was unless he was really angry at her.

i totally agree with Vanessa.....Kate cannot stand animals OR people for that matter who do not tow the line for her exactly as she wants them to. Hey Wowser, yes things have been kinda quiet here. I did enjoy hearing about everyone s Thanksgiving plans, and recipes, and movies people saw. That's what is most interesting and fun about this blog!

Support St Jude's, and various other organizations, and a couple of animal ones too. Donations to women's shelter, food pantry and Give-a-Gift.Also Salvation Army and the like collecting outside stores.

My daughter caught a frog and wanted to make it a pet but then she found out we would have to feed it insects so we set it free down by the creek behind our house. His name is (was? how long do frogs live?) croaker. Hopefully he never came across Jiminy, the cricket she caught to keep as a pet but also set free.
BTW, one thing I really enjoy on the blog are the recipes and book suggestions. I like the straying away from all things Kate.

Quiet morning spent sitting in a dr's waiting room. I brought my Kindle, and have been reading parts of Robert's book. Some things that stood out (from Chapter 8 -Show Me The Money). First, there are email exchanges between TFW and Jim Ford at Discovery, discussing the contract for the show. In Sept 2006, Jim tells her that the contract is a 5-year contract, which can be renewed if the ratings are good. She signed in Sept 2006 and the show was cancelled in Sept 2011, which is exactly 5 years--the term of the contract. So, it looks like TLC/Discovery decided not to start a new contract with her after the first 5 years ended. That would mean that TFW's claim in Sept 2013 that they are at the very end of their contract is a lie. She was just trying to save face.
Also, there is mention of Aunt Jodi's sister writing in a blog about how the Gs were claiming to be financially destitute and grifting like crazy, but they have a large sum of money (she said it was more than she'd make for a year's work just out of nursing school). That's when J&K said that they shouldn't have to spend their money to suport their family, and said said it's society's obligation to support them ("We have 8 kids"). TFW is still living that way. We know she has loads of cash stashed away, but she's still trying to get society to support them so she doesn't have to spend HER money.
One more thing, if anyone reads over that chapter, take note of the emails between TFW and Kirk Streb. He's apparently a Southerner, writes a lot like Milo does (lots of ... and --), seems to think TFW is wonderful. I'm wondering if he is Milo? Anyone else who has the book, let me know what you think.
Dmasy, well, one thing I do every year is making Christmas stockings for the troops overseas. My mother and I made 150 this year but over 2,800 were made in total from the folks at a local organization. We also donate care package items for the troops all year long.
We've already received some photos of the troops who received the stockings. Nothing thrills me more than to see pictures of our troops with big smiles on their faces holding up stockings that were donated from our local organization.
A few years back we received pictures from some kids that were stationed on a remote FOB along on the Pakistan border. The Christmas stockings they received were the only items they were able to get at that remote location before Christmas. I tear up when I look at the pictures. They were so thrilled with their gifts and had such big smiles!! 2 of the stockings I made (that I know of) made it to that base.

Agree :) I have never gotten the impression that Hoffman is just "fooling around." He does want to publish his book. Whether he can get a good editor and a good publisher behind him is something that remains to be seen. However, I certainly hope that after all his time and effort, he can get it edited, streamlined, and published.

If Steve is advising Kate on money management and investments, and his own wife is handling those funds/investments -- what you have there would be a prime opportunity for financial mismanagement.
(Note: I have no knowledge of who handles Kate's financial issues. This is complete speculation.)
I think Bill Cosby once said that he or his wife had to sign every check that went out of any of his accounts; and that he paid close attention to every financial detail. Comedian Bernie Mac once said that his wife handled their business affairs, because he trusted her to do the right thing.
Other celebrities have not had such positive outcomes. I think Kevin Bacon and his wife had invested a lot with Bernie Madoff -- and poof!, that money was gone, never to be seen again.
I do not think Steve is a trustworthy character. It would not surprise me to learn that he's been skimming money off the top for years.

TFW might not have been lying (for once in her life). Although I had missed the part about the 5 year contract (thanks for pointing that out!). That's actually very interesting. TFW couldn't keep the public interested for more than 5 years! I'm surprised she signed something like that. That really pigeon holds her $$. But, it might have been written in a lucrative way. First year, $ and episode, Second $$ and episode, Third year $$$ and episode, etc...which might explain the $250k number we heard about in her 5th year. TLC probably thought she wouldn't have lasted that long so never expected to pay that much.
But back to the contract. If her contract ended in 2011, most contracts have a non-compete clause tagged onto it. So in other words the contract may have expired in 2011, and not renewed, but then TFW might not have been able to get a new series until 2013, when the non-compete clause ran out.

I read an article about Katherine Higel who has ruined her own career by being demanding, entitled and difficult to work with. She was getting something like $30 million for a movie and now she has stooped to making a Nyquil commercial. People are avoiding her. She did it to herself. People don't like to work with nasty people. Sound familiar? Can't imagine Kate could resurrect her "tv career" if someone as beautiful and talented as Katherine Higel can't get hers going again.
Aunt Connie, I think that's just tabloid stuff. I think she's said she's been taking a break while raising her kids and she's been in at least one movie a year for the past several years. In Hollywood that's nothing to sneeze at.
I found her interviews refreshing. Same with the other hated one, Megan Fox. Their problem is that they don't try to be generic, don't try to bend to the PR mold that all celebrities get into. I like them for that. However, that is not the way to get paying gigs. The least controversial, and more relatable (i.e. generic) celebs like a Natalie Portman or George Clooney, tend to get the roles. I don't know a thing about them other than they can act and are pretty, and that's what keeps them going.
For instance, there's some authors I won't buy books from, because I found out they advocate for certain causes I don't agree with. As soon as I heard that they were involved with those organizations, I stopped buying their books. If you want to make a ton of money as a celeb, be relatable but boring, just interesting enough to catch people's attentions but not enough to make waves. Call it the Oprah affect.
That's why I think Reality TV has always been doomed to a flash in the pan. It's cheap to produce, but once the audience gets to know the people, they don't like them. The more you know about them, the more they won't fit your mold of how you think people should be, and the more likely you are to be turned off.

Idk, if my child wrote that poem I would be a little concerned. It may just be an attempt at witty verse, but I would check in with the writer to see if everything was ok. Most kids are so excited and happy for Xmas that dark thoughts don't enter their minds; however, all kids are different and she may just be creative in an original way
I think one reason the blog has been relatively quiet the past week is because of the holiday. People are just now getting settled back into their daily routines. I suspect the timing of TFMJG's dropping the suit against Robert was deliberate, to avoid a lot of publicity (for once in her life). I did notice though that there was little publicity over her dropping the suit against Jon, although a number of "news" outlets (cough-tabloids-cough) were quick to jump on the filing of the suit.
My favorite Christmas movie(s) are not full-length movies, but the Charlie Brown Christmas and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the animated special, not the Jim Carrey movie). I like several Christmas movies, including "It's a Wonderful Life" and "A Christmas Carol" (the Alastair Sim version). My Christmas charities are the food pantries and my church's outreach, and I always adopt a couple of children from the Salvation Army Angel Tree. I make Barbie clothes, so I always try to get at least one girl who is Barbie age and has a Barbie on her wish list. I have a ball shopping for clothes and toys for them.
When I was a kid, I brought home a bunch of tadpoles from the lake, My mom put them outside in the fish pond (a very small hand-dug one that was home to 3 or 4 goldfish in the summer) when they began to sprout legs. We had frog song all summer and the next year too.
My older dd gave me a desk lamp sized version of the infamous Leg Lamp several Christmases ago, it sits proudly in the living room.

Insertive Creative User Name- But back to the contract. If her contract ended in 2011, most contracts have a non-compete clause tagged onto it. So in other words the contract may have expired in 2011, and not renewed, but then TFW might not have been able to get a new series until 2013, when the non-compete clause ran out.

How wonderful! I feel the same way about the Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes! What I would give to see a child open the box that someone packed and the child pick up the lid and turn it and look at the folk artwork on it and smile???

You have a point about a non-compete clause. TFW likes to play with words, so she might have been twisting the words. However, there are passages where Julie C May comes on the scene and is arguing with TLC over $ and says that J&K may have to explore their options elsewhere (it's where they are negotiating for the 4th and 5th season salaries). So if there were a non-compete clause in that 5-year contract, they would not be able to explore their options with another network--it would be breach of contract. Of course, they would also be breaching their contract by stopping the show, so its hard to be sure. I just thought it was interesting that the show stopped exactly 5 years after they signed a 5-year contract. It shouldn't have been a surprise at all, then, that the show was cancelled/not renewed. She would have known that the contract was coming to the end. Perhaps TFW was asking for too much money for a new contract and TLC said no.
It's interesting to read again after awhile. I am seeing things I didn't pick up on before. One more thing was the wording in those emails about salaries for 30-minute episodes vs. hour-long episodes. They considered each hour-long episode to be two 30-minute episodes. I counted the episodes of K+8, and came up with 22 hour-long ones (or 44 episodes, as they were counting them) and 6 30-minute ones. Total 50 episodes. (Correct me if I counted wrong!!). But exactly 50 episodes--what a nice, round number. Exactly 5 years in the contract, exactly 50 episodes of K+8. I think that 50 episodes was exactly what K+8 was supposed to be, and TLC ended the required # of episodes at the the exact end of the 5 years. Then walked away.
If you have/had kids, you know when they turn 13 - 18, attitudes fly. Sulking, acting sullen, railing at the world, feeling sorry for oneself is par for the course with them. It's simply a stage of life. Nothing to worry about, usually.
Whoa. What you can find out if you just google it. I had a feeling for a long time that Steve may have an substantial life, disability, long term care insurance policy on TFW. Maybe now. This is IMO.
This reminds me when you get hired at a bank and take a position, they present you a life insurance policy to sign, they pay the payments, they reap the benefit when you die. They do this to be reimbursed for hiring, training and how many pennies they shelled out for you.
I think this is horrible and should be illegal. I just believe kate would never pay for a life insurance policy for herself and name Jon the sole beneficiary. If kate was a good and kind person she would have her self one if something happened to Jon and pay for Jon a policy incase something happened to her. Oh, well.
I wonder if kate took pictures of the dogs in the crates in their vomit and feces and Robert found them on the CD's. If it is true, that would cause outrage for the animal lovers out there for sure. If she would have her picture made with the sumo wrestler cap and making her eyes slant and keep it, she will allow or take a picture of anything.

Oh that reminds me of I thought I've had for a while, and keep forgetting to mention. I've noticed that often when the other children are with Jon, the twins and Colin are with her. I've wondered if he was being punished for some infraction or the other and not allowed to go with his father with the others. The added bonus for TFW would be that he is there to take care of the chickens and clean the bathrooms!
I'm hoping that thought is wrong.
