Terminal cancer. Kind celebrities who reached out with love and support. A song sung as a dying wish. Nightline's year-long investigation about a sophisticated scam that preyed mostly on celebrities' emotions, not dollars, turned up none other than Kate Gosselin as a victim. Brad Paisley, John Henson, Natalie Grant, and others were also contacted by the scammer, who sometimes pretended a woman was ill and sometimes pretended a little girl was ill.
Kate spoke with Nightline via e-mail, and says she was reaching out in 2008 to a woman named Hope who said she was a cancer patient. She spoke to the woman on the phone for several months, and when she found out Hope had "died" she dedicated an episode of Jon and Kate to her (the episode 'Gosselins Go Skiing and the dedication to Hope at the end can be viewed on Youtube). Kate had no idea she was scammed until Nightline told her recently.
The savvier Natalie Grant, however, suspected something was off right away, but then felt guilty for questioning it. "I actually was mad at myself for even having those thoughts because I thought, 'Natalie, how could you be thinking this? This is a little girl who's on her deathbed, taking her final breaths, how could you even be questioning this?'" Other celebs also suspected something was wrong as the scam was going on, after talking to "Hope" on the phone or asking for details about her treatment.

We can hope that Jon can have a healthy relationship with Liz. Those children certainly need a strong and emotionally healthy female in their lives. I have a feeling once Kate has realized she can use those children no longer, she dumps them on Jon. The woman is missing the maternal chip.
I watched some of the Couples Therapy last season..it was pretty good. I am LOLLING that Jon has a show. Boy she must be fuming. And this doesn't necessarily mean he and Liz are having issues. He just wanted a gig. There were couples on who just wanted to work on their relationship. Taylor Armstrong was on RHOBH last night and seemed happy with her new man at least upon taping. She had a cameo. (yes I like Real Housewives)

Jon got a reality show??? Ohhh Kate will be SEETHING. I think the karma train just went full throttle. I'm glad someone is capable of doing something without the kids. And looks like he's still with Liz so that settles that. The poor sheeple will have to go on cute puppy photos overdrive.
~~~~~~~~~~
I am really getting a kick out of this, even though I know that a whole lot of people are going to have hissy fits, with reasons that this is a very bad idea. It may very well be a bad idea, but I'm still convinced that Jon is not doing a thing that hasn't been run past Tuma, and how it will effect TFMJG's lawsuit.
TFW will never ever grasp that if she had just left Jon and Robert alone, Jon would have remained 'off the grid'. Instead, her idiotic lawsuit has jerked him back into the spotlight, and now he is taking advantage of that.
With all due respect, I foresee some serious debate on this blog about this latest development. Scrolling finger at the ready for a lot of us, I'm sure.
Do any of you suppose that VH1 might have pitched this to TFW & Skeevie as well? What a show that would make - both "couples" on Couples Therapy.
What can TFW say about him being on a show with Backdoor Farrah after she left her kids in care of an ex playboy bunny Hugh Hefner gf?
Conflicting thoughts here....at first I thought NO! Why, why, why?
He *said* he wanted to be a private person!
Then I thought, well, if he leaves the kids out of it. But how can you leave the kids out of it?? Even if *he* leaves the kids out of it, it will be all over the tabloids, thus indirectly involving the kids.
Then I thought, oh boy. TFW is going to have a conniption over this one! Karma, baby. Well deserved.
But then I sadly thought about those poor kids. Apparently I give more thought to their well-being....poor guys. They don't deserve this.
How soon before a rush of rainbows and butterflies are farted by Kate on Twitter? Let the countdown begin...
I have never seen the show. That allows me the slimmest of hope that it isn't as sleazy as it sounds. Just the mention of the newly "fished-lipped" Farrah/Teen mom who will do ANYTHING for fame, puts the show in a trash category.
It just keeps getting better, doesn't it?
Those kids are going to find out just who Jon and Liz's housemates are sooner rather than later.
Then, the good part comes, when all they need to do is Google them and boy, will they get an eyeful!
Lots of ways to debate Jon's new gig, but I am thrilled that he can finally shine as the lovable guy he is. Whenever he was allowed to speak his mind on JK8, he was articulate and bright and sweet. Kate interrupted him and belittled him on the show and has said ugly things about him since HE left the show. If he can stay humble and true to himself and kids, I say good for him. Hopefully the kids will have at least one parent to be proud of.
I've never seen the show either. But it seems we've got a double-standard going here. We're okay with Kate "piercing and patching" as long as the kids aren't involved, but Jon doesn't get the same courtesy? Silliness.
Yep. Whatever happens, I just ordered the theatre-size popcorn machine from amazon.
Jon got a new show. TFW did not. So, by TFW's definition, that makes her the mediocre one. Cool!
Joy, a new virtual tour? Can I come? My muumuu is freshly pressed, my crocs and socks are ready to go. I don't have a headband, but I have this really nifty crocheted hat-thingy that I was forced to wear to my SIL's "flapper" wedding. It's kind of cute, I guess. And I never thought I'd ever find a place to wear it again.
I have a question for someone with more legal knowledge than me (which is probably everyone here): If TFW has actual evidence of wrongdoing, wouldn't she mention it in her complaint? I'm thinking that it would be a good idea to do that since the judge is now considering whether to toss the charges. It might help her to say that she has some evidence that something happened, rather than having it look like pure speculation on her part. Wouldn't a judge be more inclined to toss a lawsuit that has to evidence to back it up? Otherwise lots of people would be going to court over nothing more than allegations and speculation.
We're on our way over! Extra salt and butter please!
I have mixed feeling about Jon doing this show, but I don't think we should be putting him down just because Farrah Abraham happens to be in the same cast.
Remember, how when it was announced that Kendra would be on CWS with Kate and her kids and we all were appalled and panned her? She actually turned out to be better than we thought on that show when it came to the kids. She showed compassion for them that we never saw from their mother.
The one good thing is that the kids are not involved in the filming, We do not yet know if they will be mentioned or talked about. That is the only area that would concern me. But if it affords Jon a means to earn money without using the kids to do so, then I'm all for it.
Since I have never watched the show, I will wait until it airs before making any further judgment.
I'm with you. I think this show is very sleazy, exploitative and quite likely the kids will tune in. After all, Mady watched The Girls Next Door so knew of Kendra. I think this is a bad move on Jon's part, especially after gaining support back as a stable, moral homebody who was the better parent.
I have a question for someone with more legal knowledge than me (which is probably everyone here): If TFW has actual evidence of wrongdoing, wouldn't she mention it in her complaint? I'm thinking that it would be a good idea to do that since the judge is now considering whether to toss the charges. I often write my federal complaints vaguely. It's different than writing a state court complaint where I practice. The reason is I may not have the evidence I need yet, but hope to obtain the evidence during the discovery phase. For example, I may not have the phone records I need yet, but plan to subpoena them during the discovery phase.
In my area of law I often don't have proof, but I am allowed to rely on my client's testimony to support my case. Then it's a matter for the jury to decide whom they believe more. There was actually a case for an attorney I worked with that went to trial where the only "proof" offered was the plaintiff's testimony of what was said during a phone conversation. The plaintiff won!
Hoosier Girl, don't even get me started on the "nanny state" the U.S. has become. ;)
For those that mentioned not seeing a video on Robert's new post, he has one up there now. It is the video of CWS, and he is referring to what Mady said on the show and also how Kate reacted when the twins showed up in the kitchen too early.
I have no doubt that TFWs name will come up. And just think...she won't be there to defend herself. I can't even imagine what she's going through right now. I KNOW this is killing her. AND I bet she's trying to stop it. She thinks she has the power to control everything....those were the days. There's nothing to do about it ....except maybe go get a job you ass....and get on with your life.
I'm on the fence about Jon's new 'gig'. However, I would assume that the filming won't take place over a longer period of time than DWTS or K+8--maybe during the week so he can still have his every other weekends with the kids. I think TFMJG would be very stupid to complain about the filming of the show since she has spent so much time away from the kids in the past.
If he can keep it very general about the kids' (if it does come up in the therapy sessions) I'm all for it. I think he will, he did well in the interview with OWN and he seems to have good advisors this time. I would suspect that a lot of the therapy sessions will revolve around blending families and how to deal with narcissistic exes, without being too specific about TFMJG, just different situations that arise with this type of ex, how to handle them, set limits, enforce boundaries, etc.
The show itself may be exploitative, but it could do much to erase the image(s) of Jon as the poster boy for Ed Hardy, the interview where he said he despised TFMJG, and that crazy ET interview with Hailey while providing a service to people struggling with the same issues in their relationships. He's the sane one of the two and I think he will do fine this time around.
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
I wonder if TLC will allow them to use footage from J&K+8 to illuminate Jon's, ahem, background.
I just watched an episode of that show online. It's one long bleepfest where they edit out all the f-words, and in between bleeps, people were screaming and throwing/breaking things, while all the couples live in the same pressure-cooker house. The main instigator was that Francis guy, of Girls Gone Wild fame. Keep it classy, Jon!
Sorry, but I feel if the kids can't watch it, the parents should not do it at this point. The kids have been through enough and should be subject to more ridicule. Jon has now talked out of both sides of his mouth too. "I love my quiet life", all while waiting to sign on for this trash.
Formerly Duped (41)
I looked at the link to CWS on RH's blog, too, and only watched the first few minutes. But what struck me was all the shots of TFW's shelves and freezers full of food, and none of it was organic. The shelves had a lot of juice boxes, glass bottles of olive oil, Smuckers jams (upper left side--you can see those red and white lids), and tons of canned vegetables. All normal brands, none organic. And when TFW is yelling at Mady and Cara to get out of the kitchen--the second shot of her doing that, not the first--I think it was at just after 3 minutes--she had a gallon jug of milk, also not organic. What about all her whining about how expensive organic milk is? Who cares how expensive it is if you don't buy it? And in her manual she left for Kendra, didn't she say they are an "organic family"? Yet out of all the shots of food, not a single organic item in sight. She is such a liar! If you don't eat organic food, it's no big deal, No reason to lie about it. But she lies and says that's how she feeds the kids, just so her sheeple will gush over her and tell her what a great mommy she is. She even lied about her recent cheese and butter hoard being organic. She is a pathological liar.
Sheeple are quiet. They must be DMing each other, coordinating their plan of attack on Jon. Also no TFW for awhile now. She's either screaming at Razzy to figure out how to keep her lawsuit alive, or else she's screaming at every person she's ever met in the entertainment business to get Jon fired from his show. Too late for that, though. They've already announced the cast.
The fans/haters war on Twitter over Jon's tv gig has begun.
Equal opportunist here - I would rather neither Gosselin parent be on tv, especially in the reality world where one's personal life is open, there is too much potential for the children to be affected. That said, there is a certain delicious karma in the fact it is Jon and Liz, and not Kate, who have been offered the gig. She must be fuming, simply fuming. And it is really her own damn fault, for filing the ridiculous and self-serving lawsuit that brought her ex back into the public eye.
Let Milo and Goody spew away - we all know if it were TFW they would be so damned pleased. #insufferablehypocrits.
Layla, just from memory I think she hedged on CWS and said "mostly organic" or "try to eat organic". I noticed it right away. Of course we saw free Juicy Juice which is bad for many reasons, since they were little.
The way I look at it is that Jon changed his mind. He talked some trash about reality TV but has had a change of heart. Much like Kate did with her religion. Once she had enough FU money, she left Christianity in the dirt. It happens.
Oh and BTW... I most certainly am a bitch.
If Kate is really waiting for a show with her name as part of the title, she truly will be waiting until hell freezes over. In the meantime I guess she can be content with unpaid gigs on the teen radio circuit. Jeez.
Another note about Farrah, if anyone has seen her show and watched her interact with her mom ..... it's sort of an up close look at what it must be like to be the mother of a narcissist. I just don't know what I would do. Her mom is so helpless, and poorly equipped to deal with Farrah's nastiness, utter disrespect and personality disorder. Dr. Drew tried to talk some sense into Farrah at one point and was clearly taking her mom's side, but like most narcissists there's no talking her down as her reality is not our reality.
Her mom is no picnic herself, but Farrah is a total nut. At one point her mom just snapped and just beat the crap out of her, only her MOM ended up going to jail for domestic violence. I think many watching were sort of silently cheering that one, wanting to pummel her too.
YES Farrah is quite a piece of work. I only watched the first season she was on but oh her poor mother. Same with the girl from the south, Jenelle something. My 17 year-old is sitting at the table doing her AP homework and I think there but for the grace of God...
Wow, was this filmed as part of her show?
Was the fight between Farrah and her mom televised? I just read about it. I was on Debra's side. Farrah is the most egotistical, selfish, disrespectful daughter and her mother and father ( whom she say has not deserved the right to be called her father so she calls him Michael)
have done SO much for her and her child.
See, Insert Creative, I always assumed her mom was like that because she was slowly being driven insane by her daughter, lol. I didn't consider she was like that organically.
The dad was completely helpless and had no control. It was absurd the way he let people talk to him. Completely emasculated. They make Jon and Kate's feuds and dysfunction look about as terrible as having lost your sock in the dryer.
a-freaking-men!!
As for Jon doing this couples therapy show...I really don't care. I'm sure his every sentence or minute of screen time isn't going to be about the kids. I don't believe the kids are an issue in their relationship. Jon came with a lot of baggage, none of it being his kids.
Jon was ridiculed,laughed at,screamed at,dismissed, emasculated,and abused in his last relationship. I do believe this is what his problems are.
Whether he's really seeking help (if you can get that on a reality show) or a pay check I don't care. I know it wont consist of his kids.
Just like DWTS...I never watched the show,didn't care...even when TFW went on it, I never watched not even to make fun of her. Like this show? I won't watch. I like Jon but don't have time for the crap.
Many here have said the same thing...let TFW find a job, in tv or not...as long as the kids are not the focus,more power to her. She has yet to get a "job" where the kids are not the focus. Time will tell if Jon makes it all about the kids. ( I'm willing to bet its not) So...more power to him if it puts money in the bank for him. I bet he will make more money in a few weeks for this show than he's making in a year of waiting tables. And no, I have no issues with waiting tables.
I'm a little ashamed to admit I watched 16 & Pregnant when it was first on and then watched Teen Mom for the first couple of seasons. I was fascinated as to why 16 year olds think that just becoming pregnant that they'll have a family. Teenagers really don't live in reality.
Anyway, Farrah's mom would harp and harp and harp on Farrah. She It had to be done, and her way, or she harped. couldn't let her kid fail. It drove me crazy. If you do that to a kid, they never learn responsibility because they don't correlate their actions with outcomes.
I always saw it as they were both fighting to be the person in control. I thought Farrah would turn out better once she broke free from her mom. No such luck.
Where did the fans ever get the idea that Jon has a string of very young girlfriends? He's been with Liz for quite some time. As far as I know, there hasn't been a bevy of 20-somethings hanging around.
&&
Maybe because they so badly want it to be true because it goes to what Kate said recently about how she doesn't pay attention to his girlfriend of the month or whatever. Even though he's been with Liz forever, and before that was only in onee other long relationship. I have always said and stand by this, that dating several people before you hit on someone you want to actually be with for a long time, is normal behavior and it's very unfair to criticize someone for simply DATING.
If I recall correctly, Jon made some benign comment that COULD have been interpreted that he has a new girlfriend (or not at all), and the sheeple ran with it. I even got a few trolly anonymous comments here demanding I acknowledge it. Who cares to begin with and why go to such lengths to run with something you have no proof of and even go to blogs you don't like to demand they acknowledge your wild theory? I know they would say we are the same with Kate but at least on this blog I don't see much of that sort of delusional fanaticism. For example with Steve people are just sort of like maybe they had an affair maybe not oh well we'll never know. Nobody goes around to sheeple sites demanding they acknowledge an affair we have no proof of, that I know of.
Frankly I think it's much more abnormal to not have had any relationship in so long, unless you have made a conscious choice not to date because you are focusing on your children or some other thing like your career or yourself. However that is not the case with Kate as she has said many times she wants a boyfriend. For someone that wants a relationship, pushing four years of being alone must feel very long. Maybe it's time Kate get therapy herself to figure out why it is she can't seem to jump start a new relationship, because it's not her eight kids.
I never saw Farrah's first show I only saw some of the second. What I saw of the second was an incredibly rude, bitter, selfish, egomaniac, narcissistic shrew of a woman who had no business raising a child and was a joke of a daughter. Any relationship with a man was completely abnormal, and her nasty relationship with her parents was unsalvageable. It was one of the worst things I've ever seen on reality T.V.
However maybe that was from what you described, all the harping and helicopter mother in the first show. Maybe this is the result of that.
Oh, and Farrah estranged the grandparents and her husband's family. Really, all of them are bad? Every single one? His family was ACHING to see Sophia. If you don't know the story, he passed away. Sophia was ALL THEY HAD. His sister had to go all the way to court to get the judge to make Farrah let her see her niece.
