Recap: Couples Therapy episode 8: Eat your fish!

Last time on Couples Therapy, Sada was reluctant to talk about her family history because she respects that her family did not sign up for a T.V. show. Teen Duck Lips spun an impressively detailed web of lives and stupid Dr. Jenn nodded along to each and every one of them. Idiot. Teen Duck Lips claims Debra called her a whore and a bitch "for no reason." While it may not have been very nice to call her names, there was definitely reason for it, Teen Duck Lips. The surprisingly introspective people in the house like Duck Lips explain to Jon they don't like how Liz treats him.

Coming up, Dr. Jenn is coming down pretty hard on Liz as the doc tries to help Jon. Debra is here (happy happy joy joy!), and boy is she looking road weary. Twenty-two years being Teen Duck Lips's mother have certainly taken their toll.

Credits roll, and I've never really described them, but they consist of a friendly beat and the various couples against a black backdrop saying deep things like "When things are good, they're great, when they're bad, they're bad." Teen Duck Lips asks profoundly, "Why do I always end up alone?" Is that a rhetorical question?

It's the night where we last left off, and Sada and Duck Lips are trying to explain to Liz and Jon that they're not trying to be mean for the heck of it, they're trying to help by pointing out that Liz treats Jon poorly and he doesn't stand up for himself.

Duck Lips assures Liz she does not talk about people behind their backs, this is not about trash talking her. While I fully believe they love Liz and Jon like they say they do and just want to help, that is a funny assertion because that's all she ever did on the Real Housewives. That's all anyone does who appears on that franchise. Everyone constantly talks behind someone's back or is confronting someone talking behind their back or belly aching that someone is talking behind their backs, which in so doing is also talking behind someone's back, lol. That and they go to dinner parties in places like Puerto Rico.

"Lesbians, chime in!" Duck Lips says.

"The lesbians are beat, the lesbians are falling asleep," Liz quips. Ha.

There was an unpublished comment to the blog the other week blasting me for referring to Sada and Whitney as just "the lesbians," but I want to point out here that "the lesbians" is what the people in the house actually call them, and Sada and Whitney giggle over it. I get the feeling it's a running joke about casting a token gay couple. If they had any problem whatsoever with it, I have no doubt they would say so. Not everyone takes political correctness so seriously, Whitney and Sada included, and it's certainly refreshing. And to boot, the lesbians have proven themselves to have the healthiest relationship of all of them, so they get the last laugh.

"Next time Jon tells me we need to go to bed, I think I'm just gonna ...." Liz says dryly as she makes the "O.K." sign. See what you get for not listening to Lights Out Man, Liz?

In an interview later Liz says look, what really got her about this is that they're comparing her to Kate. That just gets under her skin and she thinks it's very unfair. Once she calmed down, she realized she appreciated the housemates for being honest with her and for giving reasonable explanations for why they were saying what they were. Well, good for her, that's a start.  I just can't get over how funny it is that everyone sees being compared to Kate as the greatest insult you could ever possibly give a person.

How did someone like Kate get to such a sordid point? A hundred and fifty episodes I guess. And wouldn't you be just mortified to be regarded by pop culture as the Wicked Witch of Wernersville? Man alive.

Dr. Jenn admits Liz and Jon are making progress. Fair enough. Dr. Jenn sits down with Jon one on one. As we know these are always great.

Dr. Jenn is concerned Jon is falling back into his same patterns with Kate. Again, calling out what a terrible thing he had with Kate, I love it. I can just picture Kate glued to the television, popcorn bowl in hand, squeezing that popcorn into fists when she hears this. She and Kate Coyne and TLC for years have tried to spin herself as the victim in that whole relationship, and now here's someone, a professional no less, shattering that glass house and finally describing the relationship the opposite way. To boot, Dr. Jenn, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, has massive amounts of experience in domestic violence and other dysfunctional relationships when she worked at Peace Over Violence; this is not her first rodeo. Kate must be seething over all this, a licensed therapist, not to mention all the housemates, refusing to accept she was the victim. Ha. While I think Dr. Jenn is way off base when it comes to Teen Duck Lips, overall I think her take on things is right on the money, and I think her analysis of Jon and Kate, and Jon and Liz, is spot on.

Jon explains that Liz loves him, she is the only woman he really felt a connection with after the dating he did, and also he has to think about his eight children. "She's really good with my kids."

Dr. Jenn admits that Liz is filling up things emotionally and sexually for him that he did not have before, but he can't let that overwhelm him from seeing some of the negative things in the relationship. Jon admits it's a fine line. She says Liz needs Jon to tell her certain things she says to him are not acceptable. Jon says he'll give it a whirl.

Day 15, and the cinematographers on this show have really captured some spectacular time lapse twilight shots of Los Angeles throughout this series. Photography is a serious hobby of mine, but most of Los Angeles is pretty dull during normal waking hours. However during magic hour, those brief few moments at sunrise and sunset, this place transforms into something other-wordly, almost Hobbit-like, especially during the cooler months. My current avatar is one such hauntingly beautiful sunset, here's another from a few weeks later I love.

It is truly a blessing to live in such a beautiful place. Jon notices there's a bit of smoke in the distance, probably one of the many small brush fires that crop up during fire season when this was filmed. Jon asks if that's a fire. Liz says snottily, No, genius, it's someone smoking a really big cigar. Huh, maybe Wu-tang's out there somewhere and his cigar exploded on him. I hope he gets lost.

Liz pauses a moment, and you can see the wheels turning. She admits she is a real jerk sometimes when she says things like that, and that she's not used to someone calling her out on it. It's making her realize that she needs to work on this. It's rather interesting but concerning that Liz seemed to think comments that nasty and rude were acceptable until someone had the balls to point it out to her. How does someone get that far in life? No one has asked about Liz's childhood or her past yet, oddly enough.

Kelsey comes out in an over-the-top Pepto-Bismo pink exercise outfit and bandana, LOL. "Oh, heyyy!" she announces as she strikes a pose. Aw, I'm glad she's in a better mood. She fetches Liz to go work out. As much as I find Liz frustrating, it says a lot that someone as sweet as Kelsey has taken her under her wing. She must have seen something in her.

Day 16, group therapy, woo hoo! Spoke too soon, today we're going to talk about everyone's childhoods. Now I know I just said that your childhood is important, but I don't really want to hear about everyone's childhoods for the simple fact that I think some of these people are going to lie, and a lie on national television slamming your childhood is different than just telling a lie about it to a few friends. Especially since many people from their childhoods are probably still around and can't really respond.

Oh dear, Duck Lips witnessed domestic violence as a child. I guess that makes you a gossip thirty years later. Look at Teen Duck Lips over there fake crying, haha. Dr. Jenn says Duck Lips needs to let go of that burden and that's crucial to her parenting. This is the first time I've heard Duck Lips mention her sweet daughter Kennedy, although that's not to say she doesn't talk about her all the time in the 14 other hours of conversation a day that get edited out. I wonder how Kennedy is doing, she must be nine or so now, then I catch myself thinking how weird it is to wonder about a child you don't know. But that's what filming reality T.V. children does, you get to know these kids, care about them, and from time to time wonder about their well-being years later.

Wu-Tang's dad left the family when he was six. He had to grow up at a young age. I will not feel sorry for him. I will not! He is not the first child to grow up in a single parent household, it is no excuse for how he treats Kelsey. Wu-Tang says something about how if he had receive the loved that he needed in his relationships he could have given the same back. What the hell? Dr. Jenn calls this some kind of "breakthrough." I call it blaming others including nice women like Kelsey and Latrice for him being a straight up pig. Kelsey seems to sort of be snickering. I hope that's a snicker of disbelief. "Bingo," Dr. Jenn, really? He wins the $5,000 cash prize now? Spare us, please! What is with the coddling and praising him? Did she forget how pissed she was at him just the other day?

Teen Duck Lips, oh God. Teen Duck Lips remembers something back when she was two? It sounds like what Teen Duck Lips is describing is time outs. They made her sit by herself. You know, exactly what all the experts recommend you do when your child is two. But for some reason this was terribly traumatic for poor Teen Duck Lips and scarred her forever. There goes her voice box, it's gone, I can barely understand her now. She mutters something about how somebody hit her. Child abuse hit or just self-defense? Is that a look of skepticism on Dr. Jenn's face or is the collagen just a little extra puffy today?  Oh please bring in Debra to rebut!

Dr. Jenn says the theme for Teen Duck Lips is no one was there for her.

No one was there for her??? Now, Debra and Michael are not perfect parents and in fact are pretty dysfunctional at times, but if anything, they are overbearing. They were always there, always home, have few outside interests other than their children and grandchild, and were always checking up on the kids. Teen Duck Lips complained about how smothering they were! They were the complete opposite of not there for their kids. Now maybe they weren't saying what Teen Duck Lips wanted to hear, like sure go have sex, use abortion as a form of birth control, and stay out all night every night once you do have that kid, but that does not mean they were "not there."

Someone was asking earlier if Dr. Jenn has seen Teen Mom. I don't see how she possibly could have. No way.

I know Sada did not want to discuss her family on television, so I get uncomfortable to see her sort of forced into it. Her parents fought a lot and her dad abused her, and I'll leave it at that.  I will say though that she said this became "normal" to her. Which is an important point, because just because a child seems happy, healthy and normal does not mean their home life isn't dysfunctional. That is just their life and kids adapt to it.

You were living in a constant state of terror, Dr. Jenn remarks.

Sada points out that her dad when he wasn't out of control was the most loving parent. In a way that's worse, explains Dr. Jenn and Duck Lips, because they're so confusing and unpredictable and leave you guessing.

Whitney likes the idea that other people who were abused might see this episode. "I think abuse in general is something that should be brought out of the closet and discussed. And I think it will be a really important thing. I'm proud of you." I like Whitney.

Time to go relax, see ya everyone!

So Kelsey, Whitney, Duck Lips' fiancé, Jon and Liz don't get to talk about their childhoods? Why, because their childhoods were relatively normal and too boring for primetime? While childhood plays a major role for many people, not everyone with issues had a bad childhood and not everything can always be blamed on your parents.

Wu-Tang is in his usual asshole position reclined on the bed, only this time he has his hand down his pants. Gross! I don't claim to understand it but I know it's true some guys like to sit like that watching T.V., I guess it feels natural or whatever, but in the privacy of their homes please. Can you imagine the pearl clutching if Jon were shown with his hand down his pants like that? Wu-Tang always acts so tired and lazy, it's a wonder he made it in the business and in life in general. Kelsey is glad Wu-Tang was able to open up in group and thinks he can only move forward from here. She is such a sweetheart. She really wants the best for him even if it's not going to be with her, and that takes a lot.

They both want to stick with therapy and finish this out. Well, that's commendable. Kelsey says she needs to get to a place where she can forgive him.

Coming up, Debra! Wow, she looks like she's been run over by a truck. Or had a baby who grew up into Teen Duck Lips.

Dr. Jenn says the trauma Teen Duck Lips endured was all documented on Teen Mom. Well, exactly, and if you watched Teen Mom carefully, Dr. Jenn, it should have been crystal clear to you that, not withstanding Debra's behavior, Teen Duck Lips was a nightmare of a child and most likely mentally ill. She didn't listen, she didn't respect her parents, she was downright histrionic and they were at their wit's end with her. Of course they find the one clip where Debra gives Teen Duck Lips a light smack on her shoulder, without giving you any context for what the conversation was even about. It's not even from Teen Mom, it's from the first show 16 & Pregnant. They don't mention that Debra has said that Teen Duck Lips has hit her, too. They are both a mess and Teen Duck Lips is no victim here.

I have my own clip to show if I may. In this Teen Mom clip, Debra asks completely normal Mom questions after Teen Duck Lips got a boob job, like how her pain level is and if she's eating well. Teen Duck Lips snaps back at her like an ungrateful brat. Debra was also kind enough to take her to the doctor when Debra never wanted her to get the surgery in the first place, and Debra makes supportive comments like that you can barely see the incision marks. Starts at 5:15.

So suck it, Dr. Jenn!

Geez, from the way Teen Duck Lips talked you would think she was estranged from Debra, but when Debra walks in looking like something the cat dragged in, they both look happy to see each other. Debra seems downright proud of her daughter when Dr. Jenn gushes about how far Teen Duck Lips has come in therapy. She beams with pride and compliments the room decor (she's a real estate agent).

You see, I just don't believe Debra is evil. You can't fake stuff like that.

Debra says she just wanted to raise strong children, who know who they are and achieve their dreams. Sounds reasonable enough. She said when Teen Duck Lips got pregnant, Teen Duck Lips wanted an abortion, but Debra said that was against their religion and she couldn't do that.

Now, regardless of how anyone feels about abortion, Debra as Teen Duck Lips's mother probably felt she had a right to tell her she couldn't do that. But in the state of Iowa, Teen Duck Lips was only required to inform her mother the abortion would take place. Debra couldn't stop it. Any Planned Parenthood could have told Teen Duck Lips that. Teen Duck Lips chose not to override her mother, and that was her decision. Did I mention that if you watched the other shows you would know that Farrah tried to hide her pregnancy from the baby's father? And then even after he died, his sister had to get a judge to intervene just so she could see the only living link left to her brother. In many states, you can't cut a father out of the child's life legally. In Iowa a father has a right to petition the court for his full parental rights even if the mother wants to cut him off. In California that's called a Kelsey S. father. This is who we're dealing with here. Why not address that dysfunctional alienating behavior, Dr. Jenn?

Dr. Jenn says Debra is downplaying how monumental this moment was. Well, it was five years ago. Maybe she just wants to move on at this point, Dr. Jenn. Jeepers. Is it really appropriate for a grandmother to discuss how her grandchild's mother wanted to abort this grandchild? What if Sophia sees this someday?

Dr. Jenn says Debra is angry. Debra is like, um, nooo, I'm not angry at all actually, but thanks for your concern.

Dr. Jenn accuses her of hitting Farrah. Well, she slightly tapped her on the shoulder. I think it's important to be accurate here, and fair. There are two sides to every story.  Debra said that when that happened, Farrah had been screaming, cussing and carrying on for 25 minutes. While many people these days including myself don't believe in laying a hand on a child in any form, there's a difference between holding a four-year-old down by the hair and beating them for wetting their pants, and lightly slapping your out of control teenager on their shoulder after 25 minutes of her histrionics. Context matters.

Not that that excuses ever hitting a child, but if Debra were in California she would have a point. See Veronica G.  ("The court ordered the child abuse report to be withdrawn or Gonzalez given another hearing in which the San Jose family's entire circumstances are considered and the spanking put into context with the parents' growing frustration with a recalcitrant daughter.") Not to mention, I don't see any assertion from Teen Duck Lips this happened at any other time other than this one incident when she was 16. One mistake made in a fit of massive frustration does not a bad parent make.

Recalcitrant Teen Duck Lips says when she gets this way it's because she's aggravated. Well, that's hardly Debra's fault she has such a short temper.

Debra says this all boils down to Teen Duck Lips just won't be quiet when Debra asks her to be quiet. LOL! Shut up shut up shut up shut uuuuup!!!

Debra says Teen Duck Lips has hit her too and even called the police on her. When Teen Duck Lips gets mad she gets honest, and admits yes, she did hit her mother, too. Ha! Got her right where we wanted her! How come Dr. Jenn never says it's an issue that Teen Duck Lips is violent with others, too? It's funny the way she coddles her, but it's also really disturbing too.

Teen Duck Lips is out of control now, claiming everyone in the family is angry and doesn't get along. Well, welcome to the American family, Teen Duck Lips. From Ordinary People to Flowers in the Attic to August: Osage County, we are a country with a long history of dysfunctional families. Oh well, it makes for better films. Now eat your fish!

Dr. Jenn is falling for this all hook line and sinker. She's clearly firmly in Teen Duck Lips's corner. She's been bamboozled by a bamboozler! Dr. Jenn says Debra doesn't grasp how painful this is for Teen Duck Lips. Debra says she does grasp it! Exactly what does Dr. Jenn think she needs to do to prove this I wonder? Dr. Jenn says Teen Duck Lips needs empathy and understanding. Debra says that's why she came here and that Dr. Jenn twists her words. I really feel for Debra's frustration here, even more than I thought I would. I think empathy and understanding are the last thing Teen Duck Lips needs and I think Debra knows that, but no one will listen. Countless people have shown this head case empathy and understanding and it does ... not .... help. I think if anything, Teen Duck Lips needs tough love, not more coddling and poor you crap. Even Duck Lips agrees with that, and she's quite the authority on head cases and on smelling rats. Apparently she also hates ballet flats. Even Jon weighed in, singing la-la-la-la-la-la, Smurf along with me. Yep, pretty much.

Debra is just scoffing at this point and saying her heart is broken over this. Sure it's all fun and games when Jon and Duck Lips make fun but she is her mother, I get it. She bursts into tears. Well I see where Teen Duck Lips gets her odd disappearing voice box issues. So such a thing is genetic.

Debra feels she cannot read Teen Duck Lips's mind or heart. That's because she is trying to read the heart of a sociopath, and there is nothing but a blank page to read there. Debra says she's at her wit's end not knowing what to do, does my child need more hugs, does she need me to talk to her more? I don't get it. Neither do we, Debra.

Wow. What Debra should read is We Need to Talk about Kevin. Because for as much as Debra is a nut herself, it is never easy raising a mentally disturbed child and the things she is saying here are indicative of a mother who has poured her heart and soul into raising a mentally disturbed child and is, as is inevitable, coming up empty, and not only that but is now being attacked for doing the best she could. That's rough.

Dr. Jenn says she needs to gain a deeper understanding of her daughter, that's all. I don't agree. I think Debra has tried her hardest to understand the fruit of her loins. The fact that no one else in the house can make heads or tails of Teen Duck Lips either simply proves Debra's point. Entertaining as she is, in all seriousness, there is something fundamentally wrong inside Teen Duck Lips's head. Everyone in the house saw it and doesn't even want to be around her vortex. Are they all wrong too? Most likely Teen Duck Lips is a true sociopath, and I'm certainly not the first say so, and I don't think any mother could have handled her much better.

Dr. Jenn says Teen Duck Lips needs to mourn that her mother will never be what she wants. Ouch. But, that's probably true. No mere mortal will ever be the mother that Teen Duck Lips wants, and it's high time she get over that. If we want to psychoanalyze things, I believe Teen Duck Lips has expectations for people in her life that no one could possibly fulfill. A perfect mother who understands her inside and out, a perfect love and boyfriend that promptly turns into a fairy tale marriage, a perfect set of friends who always love her and include her and treat her like a queen, and so on. She creates unreasonable expectations for everyone around her that no one could possibly live up to, and when they fail, as they can only do, she lashes out at them and blames them. She of course does not expect the same sort of perfection from herself--being a good daughter, girlfriend, mother, friend. It's really sick quite frankly and I'm shocked someone as experienced as Dr. Jenn doesn't see what's really going on here. I can only assume this must be some sort of Stockholm Syndrome.

As much as Dr. Jenn thinks Teen Duck Lips is the victim here I am just as firmly sympathetic to Debra in this mess. I wish she could stay in the house so Dr. Jenn could see that the housemates would probably like her.

Commercials. Hm, Hershey's spreads. Kinda looks like Nutella, but I bet it's not the same. Nothing is the same.

Dr. Jenn pulls Sada aside and praises her for really progressing in therapy. She encourages Sada to bring her dad out here to the house and Sada agrees. Sada says she is nervous about that and doesn't want to air their dirty laundry, but she trusts Dr. Jenn. As wrong as Dr. Jenn is about Teen Duck Lips, I think she is correct that Sada needs to talk to her father in person. Sada calls him and he agrees to come out.

Another fantastic song, Ohio's own Joshua Radin singing Like They Used To

The soundtrack and time lapse photography are impressive for a little cable show like this. But shows like this are often how the real greats get started.

Sada is upset because Whitney went to go play pool instead of going with Sada to take a bath. Well, but Sada told her not to come with her. God, I hate when women do that, and so many of us are guilty of it. Oh no it's fine you don't have to do that, but I'm going to be mad at you when you don't. How did we become so damn passive aggressive? Whitney doesn't really understand what she did. Neither do I.

Whitney calls her out on sending mixed signals. Sada says anyone would have known she really needed Whitney to be with her right then. Again, but she told Whitney not to come with her! I don't know, some people actually want some space when something monumental happens, so I can't agree with that at all. Whitney said they've been trying to work on Sada better communicating her needs, right?

Sada says she feels she did communicate her needs. By telling Whitney not to come with her? This is so frustrating. Hoodies really are making a comeback at least judging by this show.

Coming up, Sada's dad shows up and he seems earnest enough. Oh cool, I recognize this guy form Teen Duck Lips's past, and although I can't really place him, whether he was just a friend or boyfriend or what, I do remember he was awesome and frequently called her out. And finally the episode where they destroy a house in a therapeutic exercise and Jon wasted his whole life, which he defines as ten years. Now eat your fish!

I very much enjoyed last night's finale of Downtown Abbey. I wasn't looking forward to another jolting, emotional ending, but Carson and Mrs. Hughes? No, let's not go there LOL.

He was just hyped up after making the winning championship game play.

Sorry for the long post - but at least it's not about smoking!!

Oh my! Please do not give away show finales. I have not watched this season of Downton Abbey as my husband finally got hooked and we are in Season 3.

I agree with the latter, but not the former. This blog is so much fun because we go OT.
I'll try to keep in mind if I'm posting about something shown within a day or so, and put a SPOILER ALERT!! up top.

Admin, I could not get the video up. Is that the one where she interviewed Richard Sherman after the Seahawks conference win?
Lots of sports figures have been on DWTS to give their careers a boost outside the sports arena. some espn commentators have been on there as well. Notably Kenny Mayne, who is arguable one of the worst dancers to ever appear on the show. Unlike TFMJG, Kenny is FUNNY! On purpose! He eagerly embraced his lack of talent despite much practice, and danced his way - badly - into the hearts of many DWTS fans. Kenny, Jerry Rice, and Len Goodman do Dance Center every season, a parody of ESPN Sports Center, where they compare stats of dancers and provide expert analysis of what dancers have to do to win.
In all the tweaking of DWTS, I do hope they keep the Dance Center segments, they are so funny!

Yes. Isn't that what makes this blog so interesting...that we can discuss everything everywhere? Why take that away?

I do agree, however, with the Spoiler Alert alert!

RE printable calendar:
When I print from my browser, I get a little pop-up that allows me to choose number of pages to print, number of copies, orientation (portrait/landscape) and a bunch of other things. I then click print to actually print. If you get a pop-up, look around at the choices; also see if there is another pop-up available with more choices. If you don't get a pop-up at all, try printing another way. Sometimes if you print using an icon it just prints, but if you use a pull-down from the menu bar you get the pop-up.

I think Tom Bergeron is a great host on DWTS. Even if the whole show is canceled he will land on his feet. Did anyone ever watch one of his old movies? Nothing famous. He tried to be a light rom-com actor and wasn't that good. Then he hosted Hollywood Squares and really found his place.

Brooke was awful. She seemed to be there only to wear gowns that showed off her boobies. Every time she talked I cringed. I hope Erin Andrews will be good but I would have been ok with just Tom.

I'm NOT happy about the loss of the band.

Well, what do you know--Erin Andrews has a degree in telecommunications! I'm sure that had nothing to do with her success in the telecommunications industry. Everyone knows that having the gift of gab and an iron will are the most important skills needed no succeed in TV.

TFW was given every opportunity in the world. She has failed because she is intellectually lazy and unteachable.

It sure is amusing to watch her get kicked by karma, again and again, though!

Joy in Virginia and MathGirl - thank you for help re calendars. What I decided to do is the old-fashioned type-my-own. I just created a table with 7 columns and the appropriate number of lines and manually typed in the days of the month. That allowed me to then type in my schedule for each day. It's not fancy looking, but it's perfect to pin to the front of the fridge so my son or I can look quickly to see what's going on any particular day. :)

I know it's hard for some not to share their excitement over other tv shows, various episodes or finales, etc. Because many of us have been posting here for years and the general fun, talkative atmosphere, it's like hanging out with friends. Perfectly natural to day, "did you see last night's episode of _______? Can you believe that ______ and _____ did ______??" My suggestion to people who want to talk about a show that was just on the night before, would be to put to say "spoiler alert" in your first line, then leave a few blank lines before talking about the show. That would at least give people a chance to scroll by.

I think there's a big difference between a 12 year old and a two/three or four/five year old. Apparently no other form of punishment had worked in the 12 year old and she was out of control. In my mind though it is still abuse. Are the fans now admitting that TFW beat the kids with a spoon? Interesting.

Jeanne, say it isn't so! I love Harold Wheeler and the orchestra! I did notice last season they were using more recorded music with original recording artist. I bet that bumped sales. Oh well, I will watch the next edition no matter what changes they make.
And since we talk about whatever comes to mind here, regarding songs and sales increases, has anyone seen the trailer for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy that was released last week? A song used in the trailer is an oldie called ”Hooked on a Feeling” by a group called Blue Suede from 1974. Sales of the track were over 2,000 downloads on Wednesday, the day after the trailer was released. A 700% increase! Oogachaka indeed!
Check out the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer on YouTube, out looks like lots of fun! Coming in August

It was a JOKE!
A halloween costume. Perhaps a handful of women thought the reverse mullet with racing strips was the shiz, but that haircut was roundly laughed at.
Of course, any press is good as far as Kate's concerned and when her awful haircut became a very popular Halloween costume one year, she at it up.
She knows no embarrassment, as long as it keeps her relevant. I mean, look at her lawsuit stunt!
Now, if you're talking about famous hairstyles that people actually want, there's Twiggy, Farrah Fawcett, Jennifer Anniston, and Princess Di.
Iconic, not infamous.

Millicent, there are computer calendars that you can use to set up appointments and reminders. I would be lost without my computer to tell me when to go to the dentist, go to card night, etc. I even have it remind me to pay my tax installments and send birthday cards!

If you have outlook for mail, there is a calendar as part of it. Since I lost outlook (a long sad story) I have been using ical (apple computer). I've never tried to print an outlook calendar, but I believe you should be able to.

I thought the season and the finale were fine and they kept my interest peaked. How did everybody else feel? I'm already looking forward to next season. I do have to say that Thomas Barrow makes me want to fly through the tv and slap that damn smirk off his face.

*** ADVICE NEEDED, PLEASE***
Since you all give such great advice on so many topics, I have a question...

Next week will be 6 months since my dear father passed away, and I still need to send thank you cards. I've been swamped with work (work late every day and work most of the weekend) and taking a class. I'm too tired to do anything by the time I get home.

I also suffer from gen. anxiety, and have been procrastinating because I know that when I write the cards, I'll be acknowledging that he is no longer here, and the thought of that makes me anxious to the point that I'm afraid to do it.
I would also like to write a short personal note, and I know that will take time.

So, the question is, do I acknowledge that I'm quite tardy in sending the cards? If so, do you have any suggestions for the wording?

Thank you in advance.

Oh, and this is a day late, but...
WE ARE... PENN STATE!!! :-)
In the fall, I save all my $1 and $5 bills in a separate coin purse, that I keep within easy reach in my handbag, for the Thon canning weekends. There's an odd air about her that she has more or harder paperwork/emails than anyone else when most of us deal with emails and paperwork (though I've been able to get most of mine electronic, which makes things easier, Kate) every day without much issue. If you are still overwhelmed with all of it at this stage, maybe there is something you need to change. A better way to organize your paperwork, or delegate it, or streamline it better. Or cut something out--maybe you have too much on your plate. Now try doing that with a JOB Kate.

It's also an attempt to make her look busy and in demand.

But she's home all day alone, sans kids...from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. How could this be such a monumental task for her? What if she had a newborn, and toddlers who were home with her all day, and she had to find the time to take care of them, plus all of the e-mails, paperwork, phone calls? Then she'd really be screeching about it.

a coincidence, I'm sorry for the loss of your father. I wouldn't worry about acknowledging the timing of your notes, as it doesn't seem that tardy to me, considering why you have to write them. Our friend died 5 months ago after a long struggle, preparing to get on a transplant list. We sent donation in her honor to the charity they specified, and then meaningful gifts to her girls, and I doubt I will ever hear from her husband in written form (though we do see him) and I totally understand and am fine with that. In that situation, I don't expect a note as much as I might for a baby or wedding (or any other) gift. My dad died over 7 years ago and I didn't know who sent what because I literally didn't know any of them, so I did not write any notes at all, nor did I feel bad about it. I thanked them when they were there and that had to be enough. Just remember, people do things out of love, not with any expectations of you.

Maybe you can come up with a generic personal note that applies to each recipient, i.e. "The kindness you showed our family comforted us and will never be forgotten. With much gratitude....."

LoveMyGrandsons said...

Amy2, my day was busy, but yours sounds emotionally draining, having to even worry about things like that happening at work, much less having to be trained on how to handle them. Peace and serenity to you, hon.

Coincidence, I don't what to say, hon, but I am sorry for the loss of your father and do understand what you are going through. I had a difficult time when my father died. Perhaps honesty may be the best policy. A short note stating that sending these cards were very hard for you because of the grief you still feel for the loss of your father. Please accept my apologies for the tardiness of this very sincere note of gratitude.

Another thought, due to how you are feeling and all that you are going through, might be printing the notes, in script on letterhead with some type of design on it, and hand signing each note. Then hand sign each card and put the folded note in each one.

Now, I know this may not be a popular suggestion with many, but sweetie, you are dealing with so much and you need to handle this in a way that is good for you also, and does not lead to more anxiety on your part.

Blessings to you, no matter how you decide to handle this situation.

And they can be put on automation. It's a great way to save yourself a lot of time and effort if you're feeling overwhelmed. I've never had an issue. The risk is no different than a check being lost in the mail or some kind of online payment system billing you twice because you accidentally double clicked, and if something ever goes wrong, there's their phone number--call them. Every payment system has small risks that rarely happen. At least with automatic you never forget the bill and have to be a late fee.

You can also have the electronic bill emailed to you and then routed directly to a filing system such as Evernote. Give it a quick look make sure everything looks fine and you're done and cancel the paper bill. Takes 10 seconds.

There are tools you can use in modern society to make this kind of stuff simple. Why should we feel sorry for someone who refuses to take advantage of such things?

Come on people, this is Kate Gosselin. She is the Queen of drama. Everything she does is a drama & a chore. Even the simplest task is a drama & chore. You know, I don't pay my bills on line, but you know it takes about 30-45 mins to sort through, figure out and then go & pay( I like to go to the stores & pay the CC, it gets me out of the house) and that is probably once a week(as the bills come in, I update). Kates crap of it takes all day is BS. Course, if her royal highness of organizing, was that organized, it would take her at the most 30 mins, not all day, and be a tire some chore. But Kate is not that organized as she claims. The way she makes it sound, as if she puts everything in a in-box, and then sorts through it, once a month. That would take hours to sort very un-organized. But, then Kate has almost 10 hours a day to do, what?

She probably still tries everyone under the sun for free clothes and household items. She emails Bullyville and her lawyer asking who she can sue. She tries to contact Jason for that free haircut. She checks all the balances in her accounts because it's one of the only things that makes her happy. Then she has to read all the rejection notices for the grifting she did last week.

I am late to the ballgame, and although everyone has asked for people to stop talking about smoking.. I have a few things I want to say...

I am an ex smoker so dont judge those who do and those who do not. It is Damn hard to quit, and I make sure I tell my kids that over and over and over and over....

In Saskatchewan, it is illegal to smoke in your vehicle if you have people under the age of 16 in it, whether it is a private or a public vehicle.

It is illegal in establishments authorized to sell cigarettes to have cigarettes on display where people under the age of 25 can see the cigarettes.

The cigarette packages have over 50% of the package showing graphic photos about the warning/risks of smoking.

Pharmacies can no longer sell cigarettes or stores where there are pharmacies.

Public places are smoke free ( that means restaurents, cafe's , bus stops, green spaces, baseball/football parks; ) there isnt many places but your home and yard that you can smoke in anymore, and many people wonder how long before Social Services will be able to intervene especially if you have a child with medical conditions that are adversely affected by cigarette smoke ( lung conditions, breathing conditions, heart conditions, etc)

So, if people from Canada are the ones responding extremist ideas about the smoking, it is because our govenment has taken a stand on " it affects others negatively, so people's rights are limited"

Is it right or is it wrong??? All I know is it makes it much easier to quit, and hopefully less tempting to start!

Admin, if you think this will start too much debate, and you chose NOT to post it.. I will understand.

:)

Coincidence, condolences on the loss of your father. If you can get someone to soy with you and help write notes that would make things go faster. My mother and I wrote notes for my dads funeral together. Also, the funeral home you used should be able to give you some printed cards that say ” thr family of °___” thanks you for your expression of sympathy. Then you can write a note on the inside if you want. Don't say anything about the time frame. Plus you only have to send notes for gifts of flowers, contributions in his memory, food dropped off, any tangible gifts of time like helping to clean or picking up groceries, something like that

That's so great about THON! Years ago I had a floor pass to the event, it was such a fun and warm environment. For every dancer they have a huge support system that makes sure they're eating, showering, have fun things to do, getting back rubs, staying positive. They bring in the kids healthy enough to leave the hospital and they come out and dance and play. They adore it! Celebrities in the area will stop by, a couple people from The Real World were there, which was a show that was a lot bigger back in the day. I was also there the moment it was over and everyone collapsed to the ground and fell asleep lol.

For those that don't know, it's a dance off for Hershey Medical Center pediatric cancer, where the dancers stay awake from Friday evening until Sunday evening. Hardly anyone ever quits and they raise absurd amounts of money.

Sometimes I wonder if TFW is aware of where she lives and all that is going on. There is so much and it's such a fun place to be. THON really does welcome lots of local celebs with open arms, why not stop by? She seems to have a lot of college age fans. PA is largely rural but they have far more opportunities like this than most rural areas do. Where I grew up certainly felt much more boring. It is kind of sad to see someone live so isolated from such great opportunities.

Please forgive me for so stupidly writing too many details about the Downton Abby finale. I just didn't even realize what I was doing. Oh, thanks so much for that link. I didn't know it was on and would surely have watched it if I had known. I have never heard Liam Neeson talk about his wife and wondered how he was doing with that. It was a beautiful, touching conversation. Anderson is a wonderful interviewer and so good at his craft. Thanks for sharing.

JoyinVirginia, I'm sorry but the band was fired on DWTS a few weeks ago. I thought they were excellent. They claim it was because this band had trouble with new music. We all assume it was money.

Kate does have emails and paperwork that she spends large blocks of time on. She spends her time grifting. She emails old contacts in hopes of getting on TV.
**********
Oh, yes, Kate is undoubtedly in full grigfting mode. Spring is coming, so she has probably made one of her infamous lists of all the things they need, and is busy contacting Uggs, the Gap, Old Navy, etc, trying to get everything for free. That way everything can arrive before it gets warm. Oh, the suspense! Will she be able to grift Uggs sandals for the whole family? Will NoNetz be willing to send free swimsuits after last summer's debacle? What brand name will be on their summer clothes? And, most importantly, will someone foot the bill for a summer vacation? The woman has no pride or dignity. She gave that up for free stuff.

By afternoon, TFW will be asking her lawyers, "Can we sue?" And by the end of the day, we'll have a tweet from TFW saying she's "honored" that Jamie is portraying her. After a grueling day of paperwork, TFW will be thrilled to have the spotlight back where it belongs!

A Coincidence, I'm so sorry for your loss- it can be harder than we ever imagined and I hope you find peace about your father passing on.
My advice and $.02 worth is to set out to do this, and soon. It's understandable to have 6 months lapse and just not know where the time has gone, but do this.
We must do what we must do, even though our feet our dragging.
Honor your father by doing this, please.
Write a brief, generic response and don't feel the need to design personal missives for each person who acknowledged your loss.
Then, pull the trigger and address those notes and send them out.
You will feel better putting this painful task behind you, and I guarantee you a weight will be lifted, and you might even find some clarity to the fog you're in right now.
It's time, and I'd be willing to bet that you know this.

Liam Neeson- I have loved him and his work for many years. Schindler's List, my goodness, and now he is an action hero at 60 or so.
I was a bit surprised at how quiet he was- just so real.
It's lovely that Natasha is still a part of his life.
I didn't notice any kids or questions about kids, and my guess it that Neeson drew that line before taping.
No one needs to know the morbid details when it comes to minors.
Good for Liam, shame on Kate (and a little on Jon, too, but, mostly Kate)

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Yes, the obvious question is how are the boys doing. It was never asked by Anderson. The closest he got to it is, is it hard to be a single dad.

60 Minutes is notoriously very protective of celebrity children usually at the request of the parents. They did not film the boys, last week they did not film Cate Blanchett's three kids, and last year they did not film the Pitt-Jolie kids or Phillip Seymour Hoffman's kids. Maybe there is something wrong with filming someone's children if 60 Minutes so often refuses to do it--ya think Sheeple?

I liked Liam Neeson's response to is it hard to be a single dad. Essentially he said no actually I'm okay. I'm making an obscene amount of money and distract myself with keeping busy at work, I read, I have friends over for dinner, I have a lot of support from good friends so much so I've been blown away, a beautiful home in the country, and Vanessa Redgrave moved in with us--the boys ADORE their grandmother. (Thank goodness grandma had been involved before then and built a relationship and trust with them all this time--you never know when you might need granny on a much deeper level). We're okay.

It was very much a sort of yes it was incredibly tragic and yes I still grieve for her, but I am very lucky we have all this going for us to help us be okay and we are okay. And he said he got letters from people who have lost people under even more tragic circumstances--he was basically saying hey I'm not the only one here. None of this woe is me single parent it's so hard how will I make it through each day?

One thing I did not realize is that one of the boys was with her when the accident happened. I was under the impression neither of them was there. That information has been kept very quiet until now. Poor kid.

Anderson was the perfect person to interview him because of his own tragedies in his life.

Formerly Duped said...

I was a big Natasha Richardson fan and thought she came across as a humble gracious lady on interviews. I also like Liam Neeson's work. They seemed such a perfect couple. You can see the sadness in his eyes now.I hope their family continues to heal. NR also wanted organ donation, a wish that was granted. Terribly unselfish, good and talented people.

NJGal51 said...

Liam Neeson will be on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Thursday night.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said...

Yes he said three of her organs had been donated. I think he said the liver, kidneys and heart. That seemed to bring the family comfort that Mom was keeping three other people alive in her tragic death.

I think quite frankly he's probably away from home too much, the kids were still pretty young when she first died and dad taking off to Turkey for a month must have been a bit much. But it seems to have helped to keep him sane, which will only benefit the kids.

I like how Andersen scored a trip to Ireland in this interview too. You know cause we need to see the house Neeson grew up in. :)

Anderson's interview with Liam Neeson was quite beautiful. So gentle. For anyone who hasn't seen the interview, he shared this moving story about how his friend Bono (from U2) helped his son:

"You know, it could have been a hell of a lot worse. I'm name-dropping for a second. Bono is a pal, and he came 'round to have a dinner," the Taken star said of the U2 singer and fellow Irishman. "And I remember he was sitting beside Micheal and, just out of the blue, he said, 'What age are you Micheal?' He said -- Micheal said, 'Thirteen.' And [Bono] said, 'Yeah, that's the age I was when I lost my mum.'"

"That was it. And it -- I -- I could've kissed him for it," Neeson continued. "He was, like, saying, 'You know, I lost my mom at this age and I'm doing okay. And you will do okay, too.'"

Liam was so appreciative of what many would have considered just a passing comment. He seems such a gentle soul.

It is very interesting how we're seeing these books and movies address raising children on Reality TV. It is not referencing the Truman Show, rather, I think it's addressing first and foremost, Kate Gosselin.
The PA law was meant for her, too.
It seems no one wants to utter her name in association with these things, but the veneer is very, very thin.
It's like the public's conscience has finally caught up.
Sure, you were entertained, sitting on your couch, eavesdropping all those years, but now we know how insidious and pernicious our curiosity was, and how there is a price to pay for these children.

I love Jamie Lee Curtis. She is an adoptive mother, successful children's book author and advocate. I'm betting this is more than a tv movie project for her, but rather, a statement that can make a difference.

I know - it was so sad. I remember it as that after her fall, she was speaking normally and appeared to be fine, only to die shortly thereafter. Remember Liam Neeson in Love Actually, where he plays a widower who is still grieving the loss of his wife but having to cope for his child? I wonder if that was filmed prior to his wife's death.

I really enjoy Liam Neeson as an actor. However, in his early Hollywood Days, he did a real clunker called Satisfaction, starring Justine Bateman. She was at that time probably the most well known name in the film, from her time on Family Ties. Julia Roberts was also in the film and she and Liam Neeson apparently were romantically involved at that time too.

There were a bunch of concepts for TofK. I recall one was going to peoples houses to help them organize, another was trying out a bunch of jobs, and another was that fans would write to her for help with parenting and she would go to their homes and correct their parenting mistakes. Nothing panned out, so it seems that the real problem was finding something that Kate could pull off. I think TLC realized that, without the kids, Kate is a real dud. So, rather than take a loss, they dumped her. Best decision TLC ever made.

My dad passed when I was 17 and my bro was 20, and he still needed him for many, many years, even though he was an adult.

Time does soften the grief, though, and we learn to go on, just in a different way. I haven't yet watched Anderson's interview, but I remember when Natasha passed, Liam allowed the press to take photographs of the family at her funeral. He lined everyone up and they stood for photographs before the service. It was all done with such dignity. No running up to the lens and putting his hand over it or any kind of contempt for them. He knew they would be there so he treated them with respect and they gave the same in return. He's a savvy man.

I've always found Kate's use of "paperwork" so odd. I know, of course, that it's to mislead and make it seem like she's just swamped, but once again, it means nothing in particular.
We have have phone calls, email and mail, things to fill out, notes to jot down, just about every day.
Go back to being a nurse and doing meticulous documentation and THEN complain about "paperwork".

44444444444444444444

I think an electric bill, mortgage payment and credit card payment are hard for her because she doesnt understand and cant keep track of things. What she calls 'organized', the rest of us call 'barely passable'. I try to feel sorry for her, that something is wrong with her thought processing and her ability to think things through. That long labored post she once put up about how she sorts her laundry was very revealing to me. Not only does she not actually DO the laundry, she cant comprehend how to sort it so that post was full of nonsense that could not even be followed. I do think that is how this 'paperwork' thing is. She has 5 pieces of paper so she moves them here, moves them over there, puts 3 over yonder and in the end they all go back in the drawer and she is exhausted and oh so busy. Like many narcissists, she is busy because she "THINKS" about doing something, PLANS on thinking about it, thinks about how to plan it, but in the end never gets it done. And now she is so exhausted, busy, drained, angry at Jon coz he didnt do it FOR her, bothered and needs a 10 day beach vacation to recover.

Thank you everyone for your condolences about my brother. He was only 46, much too young to go. But near the end, he was in so much pain that it was a blessing that the end was quick. He had chemo treatments on Tuesdays, and his wife, myself, another sister and a friend divvied up the driving. So once a month, I took him to his chemo and we had that time to talk (1/2 hour drive to the hospital and back). We usually just conversed about general topics and he always was planning the future; how he would hopefully be able to open a small consulting business, work from home, etc.

His loss is felt deeply by us all, but he left us with only good memories. A thoughtful, fun loving soul, and his family was everything to him.

I know it seems odd, but it definitely happens. We lost my older brother 20 years ago. At both services (for my older and now my younger brother), there was much crying and sadness. But afterward, we all had food and beverages, and sat around talking and sharing funny memories. It is a family/friends gathering and there was laughter and smiling. And one of my nieces asked if she could take a couple pictures of the family for her mom, who could not attend. We all stood and smiled for the camera.

I believe that's the beginning of the healing process. Sharing your grief and loss with family and friends, and then sharing good will, good memories, and celebrating the life of the one who has passed.

Liam Neeson is really a class act. I think both he and Pierce Brosnan are wonderful examples of good husbands, good fathers.

If you click on the links in the article, there is also a news story video about the filming, pictures of Kate and Steve taken at the restaurant, and also a blog post from the reporter who was at the restaurant.

Interesting how back in the day, both Kate and TLC were so gung-ho about Twist of Kate. From TLC's website:

http://parentables.howstuffworks.com/self/the-cat-er-i-mean-show-is-outta-the-bag.html

http://parentables.howstuffworks.com/family-matters/from-the-tlccom-editors-more-kate-coming-your-way.html

Poor Kate--it's all just a memory now of a dream not fulfilled.

I thought the premise of Twist of Kate was for her to go to various businesses and did their job for a day...or something like that.
______

I thought Twit of KK was so Kate could go help single mom and give them tips on parenting and saving money-(LOL's)
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Both scenarios are correct. The premise started out with Kate doing various real jobs like the waitressing or cooking. After mingling with the common mediocres, all of a sudden the show was 'retooled.' ToK was now going to be about Kate visiting fans and giving them lifestyle, organization and parenting tips. Which in itself is a huge joke. When Jon allowed the kids to be filmed again, the whole project seemed to be scrapped.

When I heard about the first version, I felt that would be ratings gold. People would have tuned in by the millions to see her struggle to do mediocre people work. Kate is unable to be portrayed as anything less than an important, rare celebrity, who must be worshipped and pampered. That is why she is still chronically unemployed since 2011. She's not rare, she's not important and she's not a celebrity. She's a trainwreck.

Hand towels are collected in their own marked bin in the laundry room and changed more often but bath towels, if hung to dry and air, can be used for numerous days – even I do it! It’s also environmentally friendly!

Thanks for the link to the laundry post.
Uh, most people reuse bath towels by hanging them up to dry. I'm even loathe to toss a once-used towel while staying at a hotel!
Kate wrote that she typically does laundry on Mondays. Once a week?
Maybe Mondays are "help free" days. No way laundry is one day a week with 8 kids.

Wait. We ARE talking about TCFW, so we must keep that in mind when reading her comments. Since this is TFW, I'm guessing that SHE really does do laundry on Mondays. Monday is probably when she washes her personal things. All the other days laundry is done by the not a maids and laundry helpers. See how that works? The lying liar who lies speaks a tiny truth while talking about how she controls the ones who REALLY do the laundry, taking all the credit for everything!

If you wait a few years, she might be in your grade.

I've wondered about these kids who have girl crushes on Kate, who admire her, who want to be her, who think she's their hero and the most amazing mom ever. I've long thought that many of them come from dysfunctional families, with no real role model present. Not long ago I came across a name that I recognized on Kate's Twitter. I know the fan and the family. Small world, huh? In this case, my belief that these teens have issues in their personal and family life turned out to be true.

Note -- it is NOT the one who wrote the above tweet.

I remember that laundry post! My goodness, talk about confusing a simple process. All this sorting and categorizing and 'typically' done procedures and drying racks is ridiculous. Just toss and wash ( with the obvious provisos re: colors etc) I remember too a big discussion about her making the kids wear the same swimsuit all day , everyday.
And, on the topic, I think the infamous NoNetz photos are still on her site.

Ah I remember that laundry post well. Say what! I doubt that visibly dirty rule is going to work so well now that she has teens and pre teens. Gross.

I was left more confused than I was when I started. She starts by saying Monday is laundry day but then seems to be doing it several other days of the week too. If she had a JOB she wouldn't have time to ponder all the intricacies of washing clothes and might find herself a heck of a lot happier. That house just sounds so stressful and regimented. Why not just throw your dirty clothes in the washer when they're dirty or smelly. Is it really this complicated? The kids have other things to be concerned about.

I think the laundry post I am referring to was for Coupon Cabin in the days before she started cross posting them on her own site, about how she saved money by sorting 'correctly'.

It referred to how her kids needed to have special detergent due to skin issues so there was no way for her to save that way. But she did save water and time and blah blah by sorting correctly.

But I am not sure. :-/

-----------------------

I suppose he could, but in my experience, thank goodness I've never seen it happen. In fact, shredded newspaper is commonly used as nesting material, and cages are lined with black and white newsprint. I've made foraging toys out of paper towel rolls. Yes, they shred it, but I've never seen a parrot actually try to eat the newspaper. This would be the exception rather than the rule. Nitpicking on Kate sometimes is taken to the extreme. Kate's done some stupid things with that bird, such as allowing him to perch on shoulders and heads, but his shredding paper isn't one of them.

I have a cat who loves to tear up computer paper, magazines and newspapers. It amuses her. Why, I have no idea. She has a cache of toys at her disposal but I really have to watch her around paper products!

I truly do not hate TCFW. I hate the way she has treated her children and pets over the years. Jon hasn't seen a boy in a long time, Shoka and Nala chewed their way out of their metal cages, lets the bird sit on kids heads and shoulders. I could go on and on. I have never had a bird so I guess I went over the top suggesting that he could choke.

I thought she was so busy with phone calls, emails and paperwork, so she had time for Zorro to entertain her and document it?

The bird sat on a stack of papers when he was out of the cage. I don't see what being busy with paperwork had anything to do with that. The thing is, why take a picture and tweet it? Answer -- because someone said that we haven't heard anything about the bird for a little while, and bingo, there's a picture of the bird. She's so predictable. I just don't see any pet abuse going on when the bird has shredded some paper.

I agree with Blowing @163. I dont see anything wronw with Zorro sitting on the papers chomping away. And we all knew that a picture would be coming because Kate reads here and is very predictable. No matter how busy we are at home, the bully is usually in the same room with us and if he feels that we're not paying enough attention to him he will let us know so we take a break to talk (or play) with him. Some fans praise every little thing that she does and on the other side of the coin some non fans pick on every little thing that she does. I just don't get it sometimes. Ad if letting a pet shred paper is abuse well then I'm guilty because our boy has done it on many occasions. Great fun for him especially if we play along and chase him to "try" and get said paper away from him. Love that little growley face that he makes!

Amen. I was thinking about that this morning. The fans are gushers. Everything Kate does is awesome; the kids' cute sayings are adorable; Kate is the most awesome Mother who ever existed. She could put a nice head on a glass of beer and fans would praise her and want to know how she did it. On the other hand, the non-fans pick away at everything shes does. She blows her nose and she's spreading germs. Her kids have a spot on their clothing, and she lets them wear the same shirt for months at a time without washing it.

Same MO, just different sides.

The only comment I'll make about the Zorro picture is that she must read here to know that folks were wondering what is going on with the bird. Typical. We question about Shoka and up pops a picture. I am glad she reads here, and the sheeple too. It makes Kate accountable, perhaps we are helping those kids in some way, and I hope a few sheeple start to wake up about their hero.

I would be upset to have my name put out there publicly by Kate when and if she tweets those winners. Obviously these winners are hard core sheeple and, since Kate and her herd read here, she will open the door to some prying. Go ahead, Kate. Release those names. I'll be looking for someone who lives near Atlanta.

I don't believe that she did. I think that everyone will get a book. She probably figures that if she does this, it's not a contest and she doesn't have to follow any rules.

However, if it's a "giveaway," there are still rules that apply. I would think that in this case, there could be more legal consequences than a contest, because she didn't initially announce it as a giveaway, and therefore more people could have entered. It seems like such a big mess.

I guess Kate finely got off her lazy ass, like the other day: that pile of paperwork, which probably was the be kind do something for someone else, thing paperwork. Not what most of us thought it was(bills etc). I also think Kate was told by several twitter fans & non-fans that they would report her for running a illegal contest, that she refer to as a non-contest. So to save face or her ass, she finely move on it. Calling it not a contest but a winning a cookbook signing or something like that. But, to win something you have to enter a contest to win. Kate is a twisted tool. Always flying under the radar.

Cruisin Just As Fast As She Can Now said...

I remember when we did giveaways/drawings for prizes, all of the applicable rules and regulations had to be followed, even if it was not a contest and no judging was involved. When the winners were randomly selected, their actual names had to be published online (not their user names or e-mail addresses). All of this was disclosed up front so that there were no surprises when the winners' names were announced. If you didn't want to be "outed," you didn't enter the giveaway.

Of course. this was several years ago. Things might have changed by now.

I just took a look at those photos of TFW in the diner filming Twist of Kate, and good grief! Steve is pulling the blinds and throwing people out. It's like he and TFW think she's going to be mobbed by the unwashed masses wherever she goes. I remember at the Baltimore Book Festival, he seemed to be running interference for her, intercepting anyone who might try to get too close to her or--heaven forbid- chat with her. Her book-signing line was pretty small, so it's not like there were throngs of people coming at her. She just didn't want to be bothered by them once they forked over the money for her book. She really does think she's too good for the "mediocre" folks, doesn't she? She doesn't want them (us) to even come near her. As Martin Crane, on an episode of Frasier, said, "Well, aren't you the little hothouse orchid!" High maintenance.
