Humble people give the credit of good children to being blessed, and to all their support in raising that child. These days it's rare that only one person will influence a child. Rather, family, friends, teachers, coaches and church all play a role. I think these days most people accept that a village is raising our kids, which makes that fan's tweet all the more suspicious. Especially since I haven't heard someone attribute a good child to just their mother in a decade. That's not how it works anymore. Kate is very insecure about her kids and herself as a mother and spends a great deal of time battling her own self doubts by putting on this ridiculous #goodmom campaign. Sarah is just another person used either directly or indirectly (her silence is acceptance) to further her sad agenda.

I have not seen any evidence that Deanna and Sarah are acquainted. NYC is a big place. I think that Kate did nothing about the tweet photo/video because it was complimentary of her, whereas her sister's interview was not.
I do believe that someone, maybe Kate but at least a minion, took what Sarah posted and informed Radar. Maybe Sarah herself. It was definitely a shot at Jon.
But whatever it was about, the end result was that Kate got her point across that the kids came to NYC to see her.
I will be interested to see if Kate tweets anything about Easter. I am sure, absolutely, that Steve spent Easter there before. Was it last year or year before last with the zillion eggs? That man is the most humble person I've ever seen, and he's brought to tears when he thinks about every single person who got him to where he is today.

Most parents do the best they can, and I truly believe that as long as a child knows the security of being loved unconditionally, they have a very good chance of turning out to be a decent human being. But any parent who needs constant validation of their parenting is too focused on themselves and the reflected glory they perceive will come their way. It means that they don't really view their child as an individual, but rather as a reflection of them, the parent. Very unhealthy. Very Kate.
Bitchy Pants - that story about your friend, growing up thinking her dad didn't want anything to do with her only to learn (too late), that he tried his best but her mother prevented it -- so sad and tragic.
My son's dad chose to play a very limited role in his life. This was a source of angst for me for many years. However, I have come to terms with it, and at least my child did have regular visits with his father. They have a relationship. I would never dream of interfering with that relationship, and I never talked his dad down in front of him. My own feelings are immaterial. I don't know how you can have maternal love for a child yet deny them contact with their father, assuming their father isn't a serial killer or something. I hope your friend can find some helpful therapy or other way to come to terms with her loss. My heart goes out to her.

I think that TCFW really DID do something...in her journal over and over she wrote about calling Jon at work, sobbing so hysterically that he couldn't understand her. Of course, that was so someone other than her crazy self would deal with her abuse of Jon's children! It is my understanding that she was reported for the abuse but nothing was really done.
I also think that Jon did the only thing he could do...quit his job and stayed at home with the children so he could prevent the abuse, protecting his children from TCFW. I believe he made a special effort to shower his children with love and attention because he was aware how horrid his former wife was to his children.
(Of course this is coming from someone that will always, Always, ALWAYS give Jon the benefit of the doubt because I think he is a 'normal' nice person!)

I read Penn Jillettes missive about his stint on CA. You really have to be OK with selling your soul to be on that show.

Geraldo may be the butt of a joke forever, but he is highly educated, he even has his J.D. and was an investigator for the NYPD. You don't get there by accident. Kendra filed assault charges against Porsha Williams Thursday. They are both on The Real Housewife's of Atlanta. Kendra is on CA with Kate. She is a very well known trouble maker and loves it. I wonder why it took her a few weeks to file charges. Could it be that she was just now dismissed from CA and wanted to wait until she was fired from the show. You can find clips of the fight on the internet. Kendra was being very highly obnoxious during the filming of the reunion show. She has a megaphone and a princess wand in her hands pointing them at all her co-hosts as they taped the reunion show. She was trying to control what her co-hosts were saying by pointing these ridiculous items at them.
It was wrong for Porsha to start the physical fight but I can see how Kendra brought out the worst in her. Kendra is really one mean, narcissistic, sick puppy. Yes, that was the last confirmed task she was in. She was spotted after the shoe task - where her hair looked like it had possibly been braided. The task after that was on the boat/ferry.
IDK - would she have had someone bring the kids to NYC last weekend if she was already fired? I'm thinking TFW was fired this week during the unknown task between the boat task and the one w/Geraldo, Vivica, Kenya taking pics of the models walking down the sidewalk.

I just looked up how old Grandma Mary Duggar is. She is the same age as my dad, 73. To me, that is awful for her to do all the laundry by herself for everybody. Michelle does nothing, except worry to death about her kids defrauding themselves, especially the girls and having another baby. A mother who would RUN beside a gurney videoing her severely injured son going into the ER I believe it was Josiah? holding a camcorder and smiling at the same time at the TLC camera, doesn't do laundry. Too boring and unfulfilling in her mind.
She is just as addicted to the camera as kate is.
Mary Duggar should be enjoying her later years in life. She deserves it.

If Milo isn't a fictional character created to promote the Kate agenda and facade, then I am convinced that she's actually a real person telling the truth about their downlow communicatin.' It never fails that Milo is always right on the current party line, creating excuses and buffers for Kate and getting in those extremely specific, timely and personal attacks on Jon. Geraldo's resume is astounding. I think he's got like five advanced degrees, lol. He went to UPenn, an Ivy League.
I had no idea he was such an intellectual. With all those degrees plus all his experience before he sort of became a TV "butt of the joke," this must feel like child's play to him. He's had all sorts of experience with negotiation, economics, business, hosting successful events/shows etc., that would translate well to the tasks.
Kate just can't compete with that. He'd crush her. She has no experience. A few gigs on The View where they tell you what to say is not experience. Being yourself on a reality show and being given free trips is not "experience" that would help you whatsoever with this.
Most of the celebs who make it to the top two or three spots of the finals almost always have some kind of relevant background that translates. Let's look at Penn Jilette. He runs his own charity, he has his own business, has developed highly successful magic shows for over 30 years, he's a respected musician and actor as well. This is the sort of well rounded experience that blows the two-bit reality stars and other has beens out of the water.
You can't really succeed at these tasks week after week when it's really your first time ever doing anything like it. It just doesn't happen. I know Penn said CA was easy. I think it was for him. It would be for someone with his background. However I do not believe it's an easy show at all for some of the contestants who have nothing to offer that's remotely relevant.

The Shoes. Has a closet full of very expensive shoes that Mady said, You need a bigger boat, I mean closet!!! Also, you know she hated selling the shoes from Ivanka Trumps line. The dummy picture of her standing with that ho hum smirk face holding the card of Ivanka weirdly, was very telling.
The Cooking. A failed slapped together cookbook with bogus recipes in a scrapbook filled with pictures of the kids, including one who was forced to wear very sloppy Joel's sauce all over the bottom of his face.
The Wedding Gowns. Trying to impress potential reality producers that she wants a show where someone has a chance to date and marry kate. Kate plus date plus bloke. kate will date but the bloke will chaperone to protect her body!
I really believe that they have been at it every chance they get! Remember the picture of Steve looking very alluring at the camera, sitting at a table with a tropical drink. He was with kate. I would of divorced him just for that. Someone posted that they saw the picture of Steve taking a picture of TCFW posing on the lawn chair and couldn't remember which child was with her.
Mady was sitting on the chair that her mother was on. Her back was to her mother, but her head was turned where you could see who she was.
Watching the end of todays the View. Marc Summers of Unwrapped on FN is there and Lindsey Lohan, yes, LL, and Sherri are cooking against each other to make donuts. The donuts are already made and they have a lot of things there to make it sweet or savory.
I was really surprised that LL was doing a much much better job than kate ever would. She was working, not talking um, uh, not panicking at all. Sherri was her usual idiot self. Over there trying to be funny, it was disgusting.
I think Sheri put butter in the sauté pan, then hollered, can you fry donuts? put them in the pan, then laid 2 pieces of bacon in there and then said can you FRY chocolate? she dumped chocolate in the pan. Then said, I just did! She acted horrible! The food in the pan is a hot mess.
Sheri is still stuffing food in her mouth, stir, stuff, stir, stuff! Marc said, you are not suppose to eat the props! He didn't like it. She was still cramming food in her mouth an stirring with the spoon. She started talking with too much food in her mouth. Maybe she should of eaten sub sandwich with a 60 oz. soda to hold her till lunch!
LL plated her food, Sherri, kept gripping and complaining. Sherri didn't even plate her food. She had it "plated" on the butcher block and then said, we were suppose to put it on a plate?
Something like that. She made her donut and just threw potato chips around it. Jenny picked LL's food for savory and told Sherri she would buy hers at McD's in a second. Yeah, right.

I forgot about the intervention by his kids! Yes, he had become a buffoon and late night talk show host fodder for his crazy rants. Good for his kids for stepping in. He was also caught many times for sending in statements about how wonderful and successful he is or rebuttals to unflattering newpaper and magazine articles, using fake names and calling himself Donald's assistant or PR person. It would turn out he had no one on his staff by that name.

The Duggars have done far worse things than Grandma doing laundry. They schlepped a dying Grandpa Duggar out for a ridiculous birthday celebration. The poor man was nearly comatose, but the show must go on, right? That was the lowest of the low for me. I can't find a clip of the party but apparently the whole funeral was shown on their show. I don't even have so much of a problem with airing the funeral, it's the birthday party that sticks in my craw.

I've come to believe many people in the public eye are narcissists. They even did a study on this once. Many people do not seek out fame like that unless there's some narcissism going on. Also, you have to be comfortable constantly obsessing over yourself because your brand is YOU. Most normal people are uncomfortable with that. However some narcissists are shrewder than others. Folks like geraldo, narcissist or not, have what it takes to win. Kate does not.
Admin, I like your observation about narcissists' brand being themselves (#118). But when a narcissist has a talent - singing, acting, whatever - their energy funnels into that. And the attention
they receive is based on some sort of skill they've honed and developed over time.
But with reality stars, there is no such talent. TFW wants to be loved and adored simply because she exists. And every gig she gets confirms to her that that adoration is valid and deserved. Therefore, that fork may never be lowered, and those 15 minutes might stretch into decades.

Oh wow, I remember this episode. What disturbed me was that before JimBob's father became incapacitated, he had indicated some concern over the size of the family, and also didn't seem interested in participating much on the show. I felt JimBob showed his father great disrespect once he was unable to object, to film him for national viewing. Didn't they roll the poor man out on an office chair?
JimBob is real big on how he's the headship and even their grown kids are supposed to defer to his judgment and respect his wishes. But he did not practice what he preached. I was also upset that his mother allowed that to happen. She should have put her foot down and protected her husband from that public display. Shame on them both, if you ask me. Oy vey, don't get me started. The Duggars closely monitor all their children, even the ones who are adults yet still living at home. That would be every child but the oldest, who got married a few years ago. Even though they constantly brag about how their way of parenting is the best (homeschooling, tons of religious stuff), they apparently do not trust their children to behave properly. So every child must be closely watched, and never more so than when they begin to "court". All contact between any of their children and a person of the opposite sex must be monitored and/or chaperoned.
As an example, their 25-year old daughter wanted to Skype with a young man she liked so she had both her parents come to the living room and sit on the sofa and listen/watch. Apparently, even with all their "exceptional" upbringing, a 25-year old woman cannot be trusted to speak with a 20-something male who has also been raised in this same religion.
For them, defrauding is a term used to shame a female should she wear clothing that is deemed too tight, too revealing, or not modest enough. By wearing such clothing, that female could cause a male to feel the sin of lust. Since they believe men cannot help themselves, it's the females' fault and thus they have "defrauded" the poor male into sin.
Why anyone thinks the Duggars are great parents is beyond me. They are just plain weird.

Totally agree. Yes, they dragged grandpa out, but I thought it was a wheelchair, I could be wrong. I was too busy being appalled to really notice. That whole bunch is Children-of-the-Corn creepy to me. Maybe it's because I come from Mennonite Country that nothing they do is of any interest to me. And don't even get me started on the miscarriage exploitation.

Wellllllllllll, maybe. From what I've seen of Grandma Duggar, she seems in pretty good physical condition. However, she also seems to have willingly given up her own home, moved in with her son and grandkids, and if she wants to be stuck doing loads of laundry all day long, that's her business. But it's not like she's being financially supported by her son, or needed to be taken care of due to her advanced age.
However, doing laundry does require a certain physicality, which is probably helping keep her muscles strong. It would not be my preference to be in my 70's and doing my grandkids' laundry, but maybe she does like it.

The thing I like: They aren't trying to con the public into supporting them ... or their kids. As far as I know, they have never been on public aid of any kind.
The thing I don't like: Making the older kids responsible for the younger ones. Yes, I know, I know ... this happens in many families ... where the older kids are asked to watch out or babysit. But that whole Duggar dynamic takes it to a whole new level. It looks like once they are weaned, they are handed off to an older sibling to take care of. Perhaps if the parents actually took care of their own toddlers, they wouldn't have time to put more arrows in the quiver! ICK! (but yep, I said it :-)

franky and lukebandit...another easy way to cut cherry tomatoes is to put them between the plastic lids from deli salads or some takeout order containers. I like those lids because you can see what you are doing.
Ok...has anyone tried that tomato trick yet? Looked interesting.

Foxy, get idea for it to be clear. An idea. Those really nice plastic clear saucer sized plates you use for dinners but don't like paper plates. Then you can see what you are doing and they are sturdy and you can wash them, put them up and save them for next time.
Just think on Home and Family, if kate would of thought to do a tip on cutting cherry tomatoes like this and demonstrated it, she would of gotten oohs and ahhhs and the decibel clapping would of went up a few more notches. She would of been on such a narcissistic high that she really would of messed up the meatloaf.
The meatloaf that feeds her and Steve and 8 growing kids and has PLENTY left over for the next day for sandwiches, blah, blah, blah!
I still think Geraldo is smart. Lack of common sense or brazenness is not the same thing as being dumb. A lot of smart people actually are very poor at common sense things, such as directions, or in his case, protections of our troops. To be fair, that is actually quite a hotly debated issue in the journalism world and one we studied in ethics class, with some respected journalists believing that journalists have a duty to protect troops first. While other respected journalists believe that a journalist cannot factor in such considerations. Their job is to get the story out and they should disclose everything they believe is relevant to the story unless ordered by a court of law otherwise. Respected journalists have sat in jail because they believe so strongly in things like that. My professors tended to be more on the side of do not disclose compromising information about troops but there were a few old school ones who didn't adhere to that.
I think he's savvy and has a decent shot at winning, and is probably way better at this than Kate. That doesn't mean he's not a narcissist, a tool, or lacks common sense!
