'There are things that are really fun about growing up on television, but then you also go through puberty'

"I remember her sitting in her dressing room crying because she didn't like the way that she looked. Teen years are really hard and I think teen years on television when you're under the spotlight can be really difficult." Lori Loughlin

Last night on Dancing With the Stars, the lovely Candace Cameron shared some personal and painful memories from her childhood in the spotlight. (Mary-Kate Olsen had previously said she and her twin were like "little trained monkeys" on the set and she feels disconnected from her childhood.) Thank you Candace and Lori (and Mary-Kate) for your honesty, especially knowing how special of a place Full House holds in many people's hearts. Congrats to Candace on making it to the finale!

See a clip from the Full House episode "Shape Up" that exploited Candace's struggle with weight:

The Gosselin twins will be 13 when the reported Gosselin update special airs this year.

It is always interesting how differently people see something, even when they are all looking at the same thing. I have always felt that Michelle Duggar is the one who started her family on the path they are now on.

&&&

Hard to say. I will say this, whoever started it, she is firmly on board with it. She speaks to the lifestyle without a beat. She knows it backwards and forwards. She seems to really adhere to it and believe in it. She is unwavering. I don't know who brainwashed her or if she came to this position on her own but she is pretty firm in how things are going to be. She does not act like someone being manipulated by anyone. She is, dare I say, a strong woman, even if she's only strong in beliefs that I think are wrong.

It makes me sick that JB says that Michelle was damaged goods when they got married. Well, she was dating, she had a couple of boyfriends, SO WHAT? When JB and Michelle started dating, THEY KISSED each other while dating! I totally believe she was a V when she married JB. When he says she is damaged goods makes her sound like a tramp who would bed any guy.

Then they got married and then discovered the Gothard cult and the rest is history. Even Bill Gothard, never married was accused of sexual harassment and I can't remember if he got arrested, but I think he resigned.

They showed tonight that JB and Michelle at the Drs office. He is a neonatal specialist/ob/gyn. I can't believe how he told them about the risks, he totally kid gloved them and didn't have the guts to tell them, Look, you are going to have to stop having babies. You have more than you can handle. Josie almost died, and then Jubilee did die. I am sending you to a mental health specialist.

I have read over the years on Duggars without Pity and it is mind blowing about JB and Michelle how they do their children, JB's elderly mother, the laundress, and the courting of their older daughters. And how shabby she treats one particular little girl Jordan. Jordan has never had her own birthday party. Watching them interact as a family dynamic is extremely awkward and excruciating to watch.

They had a engagement party for Jessa? I think and JB and Michelle served the food on paper plates, AND bologna rolled up on white bread, cut like petti 4's? with toothpicks! Who does that?

I have posted over and over for Jana, 24, to get a lawyer, pack her bags, move out, even with a friend or relative and sue her parents for her share of her work wages working for the last 10 years on tv. She has every right to do this. She could of been out of college by now and working as a RN or as a teacher. She graduated from the School of the Dining Room Table 8 or 9 years ago?

SAD, SO FREAKING SAD!

Seems odd to see Candace as a mother. She's just a kid! Where has the time gone?

I'm feeling pangs of guilt for watching FH, knowing now that it was painful for her to go through puberty while on that show. Eight years IS a long time to be on tv, especially when you're that young.

She does seem happy though and it's nice to see her again, all grown up. Wishing her good luck on DWTS.

Woo Hoo! New Post! Thanks Admin!
No spoilers - the four finalists will be on Good Morning America tomorrow anyway, so I will be commenting more tomorrow AM.
DWTS was fabulous tonight! Just FABULOUS!
I got to see the return of Saint Tony Dovolani of the Ballroom for the finale! He was partnered with NeNe Leakes of Real Housewives of someplace and they had FUN together this season! So glad Saint Tony had a nice partner who appreciated him!
Loved this season and can't wait until September for a new group!
Also - Survivor has been a fantastic season and part of it has been the minimal spoilerage. It is really fun to analyze each episode, each commercial, each utterance of that adorable Jeff Probst, and this season - which of the survivors has been twittering! My survivor watching buddy and I have our own thoughts on who will win, I think I will be satisfied with whoever wins out of the final four because they have all played hard and all played different strategies.

IMHO, Candace wasn't really a good dancer but she had a MUCH better attitude than Kate. She appeared to try hard and she listened respectfully to the judges. That goes a long way.

From the last post, when Kate says there will be chaos taking the kids out in public, I don't think she means the kids won't behave. She means that the worshiping general public will not be able to control themselves in her presence. It would be like those pictures of when the Beatles got off the plane in the US for the first time.

"UTOPIA will follow 15 inhabitants as they leave their everyday lives to move to a beautiful, but isolated and undeveloped location – for up to an entire year – challenging them to create their own world. The series offers people from across America the chance to be part of a groundbreaking social experiment – the pioneers will make every decision about how they will live, work and what the rules and laws of UTOPIA will be.

With no existing power structures and limited amenities, these “pioneers” must draw on their own ideals and everything they know about societies around the world, to create a new one…will it be better? Will they rewrite the rules they have always lived by? Will they falter or prosper?"

I only watched the Duggar's show once, with my adult children who were visiting. We laughed our rear ends off at these people. Jim Bob is all about proving his manhood by impregnating his wife at every opportunity. Michelle has ruined her health by having these repeated pregnancies. My goodness, the woman must be wearing adult diapers at this point! They are part of a cult and it's just another freak show supported by TLC. Here's the real issue: the general public is curious so they tune in and TLC takes that curiosity to the bank. I was curious so I watched it once, but it was plain ridiculous. If the Duggars want to live that way, it's their business but the way they live is a cult, and cults are dangerous. Instead of promoting these people for profit, they should be filming it as how cults are dysfunctional and how innocent children are brainwashed. Maybe, in a way they are because I believe normal people see the family for what they are; however, TLC sugarcoats it and pays them for being dysfunctional.

JR said... 14

Can someone enlighten me with that "common life" remark. If you ask me..I think that was a mouthful. Is she saying her life has turned into mediocre?

Also....wheres all the hype for her big TV comeback on TLC? Its getting kind of late if its supposed to air in June....Haven't heard a peep about it

foxy said... 15

Michelle also stated that God punished her for using birth control and that is why her first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. I cannot even imagine what her insides must look like. Her bladder must be on the edge of defecting by now. I would not want to be her ob/gyn Dr. and be held responsible for the horrendous things that could happen to her and another baby.

It would kill me to watch my baby with so many needles and so much equipment being used to get them on track. And yes, those needles hurt them.

TLC stinks said... 16

BTW, regarding Kate's last tweet about her "common" life: this proves she lives in a alternative universe. Is it a common life to be a millionaire, have hired help, meet celebrities, travel first class, live in an estate home, etc? What more could she possibly want? She is financially stable (for now) and has healthy children. It's all about HER WANTS. Really, the woman needs to see a shrink.

I don't know why but this comment makes me so sad. It is just very sad that someone could just be so unabashedly unappreciative. It makes me very sad that someone could hate their "common" (privileged, spoiled, upper-upper middle class) life so much. How could someone be this unaware of how other people really live? And it makes me sad that someone could be so selfish as to desire something that would uproot and disrupt their children's lives for no good reason. They say the so called 1 percent folks have to make about 350,000 a year. She made millions from Kate Plus 8. Does she not realize she is a 1 percenter??

I really do feel bad for Kate (I know, shocking!) because I don't think she knows how to experience love the way most people do.
I really do.
After years of being single again, she's had not one serious man in her life.
If Steve is the guy in her life, romantically, then I really feel sorry for her that she would value herself so little.
No woman should settle for that kind of life- a life with a very dim future.

I think she's very isolated and alone, and that's why she's always grasping for something, anything, to fill the void.

Relationships with adoring fans, make up artists, hairdressers etc are NOT at all the same as family and kin.

localyocul said... 24

I wonder if she's quiet because they're filming. How many hours do they need to film for a one hour update special?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 25

The really sad part about it is that it's become crystal clear she will never be satisfied. Therefore, it doesn't matter how many update specials TLC does, she will continue to beg for more. It doesn't matter how many stints on Celebrity Apprentice or DWTS or what have you, she will continue to chase more. She won't be satisfied with three or four times guest hosting The View she wants to keep doing it. I doubt she will ever lose interest in Twitter at this point. That one I called completely wrong. I thought for sure she'd be bored with that within months. So we're going to continue to see the kids exploited there and elsewhere until they are 18 and can decide for themselves. Sigh.

Carole said... 26

Now that God has determined Michelle is not to be pregnant, they are seeking fertility treatments?

There was no mention of fertility treatments. IMO their motive for visiting the dr, other than to use the scripted scene to finally put an end to speculation of whether or not Michelle would have another baby, was to do hormone blood tests which would show whether she was indeed peri or post menopausal. Results to be announced next week. lol The blood drawing scene looked fake to me (I've never seen a needle in someone's arm at such a weird angle. lol) and I wonder if she had the actual test done prior to filming and that part of the visit was faked for the camera. It's scary that even with the dr discussing the extremely high odds of having a baby with downs syndrome because of Michelle's age, they didn't seem to flinch. I don't think they'll do anything to prevent a pregnancy if she's not already well into menopause.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 27

What was the end result of her visit to the doctor? Did he tell her don't have more kids or that she couldn't have more kids?

In the clip he just says her chances are slim and the risks to the baby are high.

Formerly Duped said... 28

Yes, "common life" is an odd hashtag. Is it, dare I say, mediocre ? She lived as a 'commoner 'most of her life and schemed via the tups to get out of it.

She has got used to and feels entitled to a life on a golden platter. She is also raising her children that way. A sure recipe for unhappiness and lack of appreciation as some of you have stated.

That's what I just don't understand. My doctor told me that I could have another child, but it would put my life at risk (Congestive heart failure post-delivery. I was lucky to recover). It could happen again, get worse (heart transplant!) or fatal. It's more important for my daughter to have a mother than a sibling.

There are many people counting on Michelle, how can she con't to put her life (and SELFISHLY HER CHILD'S LIFE) at risk? It just doesn't make sense.

jbranck1980 said... 33

I think the reason she won't quit Twitter is because of the instant gratification. She tweets something and immediately her sheeple are giving her the praise and adoration she craves. Anything else and she loses interest. I mean, how long has it been since she's updated her blog? The immediate reassurance that she is a good mother/person isn't there so she got tired of it.

OrangeCrusher1 said... 34

She's what 46? 19 viable pregnancies, and perhaps 2 miscarriages? My DH is an OB/GYN and he just rolled his eyes when I told him this story. Honestly, I cannot even imagine the doctor who would want to be on TV for this story line. Ridiculous. But I also think she has some undefined psychological issue re: pregnancy. Loves the pregnant part, loves the attention, definitely loves the TLC camera, but then hands off the baby/child to be raised by siblings. No wonder the older girls have not been encouraged to marry young themselves; they are needed at home to care for their mother's litters.

And it makes me sad that someone could be so selfish as to desire something that would uproot and disrupt their children's lives for no good reason.

====

She's always been the selfish 'me first, I'm in charge' person. The kids are trained to follow her orders or else. If the opportunity arose to move to CA, she'd pack up and take off so fast she'd leave skid marks in the driveway. And of course the kids would have to go with her because she can't land a job without them.

Then there is this person, whom I consider to be the polar opposite of Kate:

~ Erma Bombeck was noted for her self-deprecating humor, and when she wrote about a family foible, it was always couched in love and plenty of relatability. Did the kids mind the references? Actually, thanks to the positive parenting of Bill and Erma Bombeck, they were too busy being kids to notice. When it came to her mom’s columns, daughter Betsy Bombeck laughingly admits, “I would like to say we read them, but we didn’t. I did read the books most of the time right when they came out because she kind of threatened us—if we didn’t read them, she’d give us a quiz.”

Keeping children grounded while Mom is in the spotlight is rarely easy, but the Bombecks pulled it off. Family life may have been Erma’s hot topic, but the children were not part of her career. Says son Matt Bombeck, “I don’t think she really wanted us to be involved in her career. We were kept very separate from that—I think intentionally. It worked out for all of us—that we were not that involved in her career and her writing, even though we were the subject of it.” As a child, when asked about his mom’s vocation, Matt was adorably clueless. “Someone asked what she did,” said Matt, “and I said she was a syndicated communist.” ~ (parade.condenast.com)

It is my humble opinion that it is Mrs. Duggar who really runs that marriage and pretty much everything that goes on. The old adage, "if momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy" seems to be the prevailing theme. So while she talks the party line and looks up adoringly as her husband speaks, I doubt her husband would ever do anything that made her truly unhappy. I don't want to derail this blog with my opinions on the Duggars. Suffice it to say that I think she's a very hands-off mother, and it has been the older daughters who have long shouldered the burden of raising their younger siblings, doing the housework, grocery shopping, cooking, and everything else it takes to manage a house with 19 kids in it.

Michelle Duggar needs to get a hobby or volunteer somewhere, just as Jimbob need to find a hobby& do the same, this current hobby of making babies is getting old, getting old all the way around period! I know you guys would say, they have all those kids, to raise, yes, but, everyone needs a personal hobby. Kids, can be put in pre-school & school. Look at our resident slacker Kate, kids are at school, no hobbies, no interests, no volunteering. Michelle, has only one hobby, to have babies. And all this spending time with her kids, is for TV, cause, Michelle does not know what to do with herself. No babies, she is lost. Most people I know have hobbies, with or without a job. Gardening comes to mind, Michelle could take a class on gardening, cooking, design, midwife, etc. Some of these classes, she could share what she learned with her kids. Even Jimbob, can do the same. They have lots of land. There are lots of farms nearby, they could learn from the other farmers. One thing I don't see is a chicken coop. There are a lot of people in Chicago, who have a few chickens. I don't know why the Duggars don't have chickens or a garden. ??

My opinion on Michelle is she is addicted to having babies, and that this is her only hobby. MIchelle has many talents(cooking, playing a musical instrument, etc, ,as we have seen over the years, she just does not pursue any, cause, she is obessed on having children. Jimbob, needs to find something to do with himself, other than sex to make baby. Not that there is anything wrong with that. He needs a hobby. I do hope the Doctor, tells her to stop. The last 2 kids were a warning. The last baby did not make it. I see they have been having Michelle interact with her kids, which is good, and she even admit that she had no idea what some of her kids do. But it does not seem to be enough. JMO

I can't imagine what would happen if they had a child with DS.

They don't raise their own kids!
Kids that are developmentally normal, and will have the ability to be fully independent one day.
A DS child would be foisted upon a remaining girl, and her job would NEVER be done.
JB and Michelle would not be taking care of that child into his 30's.
That's just not what they do.

I just think there's a lot of selfishness in rolling the dice like this.

Both Kate and Michelle Duggar seem totally unaware how lucky they were to play the obstetric lottery and not end up with a special needs child. A special needs child changes your life forever. You don't have time to go ask if you can have 10 more children. You don't have time for tanning and hair extensions. Those children can teach you so much more about love and family. Or they can make it obvious you should not have been a parent.

Many times you don't know why a child ends up special needs. But to purposely put yourself in a situation where the risks are so high: I don't understand it.

They did have the most obvious product placement! Why don't they just say this show brought to you by Nutella. They had pancakes with a zoom of a 5 in Nutella,, then the dad says pass the Nutella. Guess what the next commercial was?
The parents did keep saying happy birthday party day but had them open gifts from them.

Both Kate and Michelle Duggar seem totally unaware how lucky they were to play the obstetric lottery and not end up with a special needs child. A special needs child changes your life forever. You don't have time to go ask if you can have 10 more children.

====

I don't know about Michelle, but if Kate had given birth to a special needs child, no one would hear the end of it. SHE would be THEE martyr of martyred mothers. It would be the grandest pity party of them all. It would be all about her, not the child.

Orange, she is 47 and if she were to get pregnant she would have the baby at age 48. After what Josie went through and she got pregnant again and Jubliee died, I cannot believe they would continue this baby train. The dr. she and JB went to was her OB/GYN, Neonatal Specialist. I can't believe he didn't tell her to stop, and I am going to refer you to a mental health specialist.

She is trying to compete with the grandchildren now. How awful when they announced on Today that Anna and Josh were expecting and everyone was really excited about that and when it calmed down, Michelle piped up and said, Me and JB are pregnant too!!!!! Also, in the original clip of the Duggars announcing the gender or another grandbaby coming, Josiah was so upset he ran off the set. But now it has been edited out. I remember him running off. The other older kids were stunned. Even Josh! His face looked like, your kidding me? Seriously? You can't handle what you got!

I wonder if this could be classified as a Munchausen by Proxy somehow. She is addicted to being pregnant, the limelight, the birth, nursing and then 6 months hand over to teen mom daughter.

Rinse, lather and repeat.

I'm a little disturbed by the prospect of a late birthday party filmed by the pool. To me it's an extension of the children on potties. As 10 year olds, they should not be forced to be on national tv in bathing suits. They should be learning modesty and how they feel about their bodies. While many bathing suits can be modest, that's not the point. I can be comfortable walking on the beach but not comfortable being filmed on the beach. Does anyone think any of those tups are allowed to refuse?

The doctor would advise her of the risks and complications, but it's not his/her responsibility to tell Michelle Duggar to put up the "out of business" sign on her baby factory, nor is he going to order her to see a psychiatrist. Hmmmmm, so it is possible that Michelle could still get pregnant. As I've recently shared, my youngest sibling has Down's. My mother was around 38 when she had her, so ten years younger than Michelle. She'd had 7 babies before that, the last two years prior. She was in good health, had no history of problem pregnancies, etc. But the odds played out in this case. We love our sister very much and she is very much wanted. But I would not knowingly take such a risk, because life is hard enough when you have no physical or mental limitations. If you happen to be "different," life is more difficult, you are more likely to be bullied or teased, you are more likely to have serious health problems, and the list goes on. It seems like too big a risk, especially when you already have 19 children, a previous history of difficult/dangerous pregnancies, are at an advanced age, and ought to know better.

I can't believe CA would send a reportedly HUGE crew to film Kate plodding about Michaels for "B" roll.

My guess is that the story arc goes like this:
Kate plans a big bash for the kids bday.
Can do Kate makes all the decorations and plans all the activities by herself.
Cue kids, screeching over Kate's plans, telling her what a great mother she is.
Another pool party.
Lots of couch interviews, hopefully without subtitles at this point.
Cue Kate's near nip-slip as she recalls her 569 weeks of bed rest, single mom, does it all, the 9 of them, traditions, she won't give up, she does it all for her kids.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

It would have to be TLC shooting for the big birthday bash. Although CA does film some backstory, they don't care about her shopping for a birthday party and that's not normally what they film. This is why she's been so quiet, she's been filming for the TLC special. I guess her stint on CA put a crimp in the original filming plans of TLC. I guess the kids are getting a late birthday bash.

Auntieann: That is just it, the special will be boring. Kate has already posted on Twitter, pics of the tups, and we already seen the twins on the Today show & the View, so we already know what they all look like in 2014. TLC, can't show anything new. Infact, TLC, has been promoting , some of their summer shows, no Kate +8. YET! Will, Kate pitch for a show with the kids, on this special: Growing up Gosselin, or will this be the same crap as before. The couch interviews, film of daily boring things, fighting etc? Hopefully, the couch interviews, will as someone here said, will not have subtitles, cause, you can't understand, what some of the G8 are saying. And hope they will sit still long enough too. One thing I can say about the Duggars is that when they do a kids interview sit down, and these kids are way younger than the G6, they do sit and not move around and do talk very clearly, I recall some of the G6, have a very hard time being understood, and sitting still. It is my understanding that DS people have a higher risk of a plethora of medical issues, including a very high risk factor for leukhemia. The Duggars are sick and the media that keeps giving them the attention are partially to blame. I'm over 50 and still getting regular visits too. I hate it. I have hot flashes too. The worst of both worlds.

At least when the young actresses left the public eye they had the money to get help to deal with some of their issues. Mary Kate and Ashley are filthy-rich. As long as reruns are still playing, they are all still getting paid.

I felt so sorry for Tracy on Growing Pains. Her "character" was being called fat (and she wasn't) but she knew her character had HER body. How disgusting. Kirk Cameron turned into a weirdo too and Allen Thicke is just an asswipe.

Kate filming is nauseating. I don't think she deserves the attention. If young girls and boys are filmed in their bathing suits I will be disgusted but Kate being filmed doesn't neccessarily mean it will be aired. Remember Twist of Kate?

Kate is boring.

Will and Jada being checked by CPS is news and a good start to protect children in Hollywood.

Especially when the most recent child did not survive.
My sister had special needs. Not Down Syndrome but another genetic fluke that resulted in heath complications in adulthood. My family was and is very close. Growing up, my parents and grandparents were wonderful.
As my sister got older, she realized that she was different - could not get a driver"s license, for example. She was very capable but no one would hire her for "insurance reasons" (liability, not health). It was heartbreaking for all of us. She passed away at 40 from pneumonia. I would not give up the relationship that we had for anything and wish she were still.with us, but it was difficult watching her struggle with wanting simple things that most ot us have (e.g., a job - no offense to the unemployed).
Anyway, my point is that after having NINETEEN children, to obsess about having another I'm such a high risk situation is incredibly selfish.
Maybe Michelle thinks that there are older GIRLS to raise the child if she died in childbirth, but what about the other 19 who would miss their mother? What about that child's quality of life?
Medical science saved Jordan (?) but could not save Jubilee. I think God was sending you a message, Michelle. Don't be too self centered to listen.

What was the end result of her visit to the doctor? Did he tell her don't have more kids or that she couldn't have more kids?

The results of Michelle's blood tests will be revealed on next week's episode. lol

The doctor pretty laid out the facts for risks for Michelle trying to carry another baby, including the outrageously high statistics for birth defects and down syndrome for women of Michelle's age and said there wasn't much more to discuss until they knew her hormone levels. Michelle shrugged and said the statistics were the same as she'd heard before meaning other docs have had the same conversation with them in the past, but with their religious beliefs they continued to leave it all in God's hands.

I wonder what they'd do, if anything, if a doctor ever told them that Michelle definitely couldn't survive another pregnancy. Would they take steps to prevent another pregnancy? IDK

I think you hit the nail on the head! Last we heard about filming was in March, when it's cold and dreary. Now that it's warmer, they can film a big bash out by the pool, and of course Kate has to prove her Mommy-superiority (eye roll) by making all the decorations herself. And perhaps there will be a crafts project like the kids did when they were 3. Get ready to hear the kids screech in delight at every turn and thank TFW a hundred times for making them the bestest Happy Birthday banner ever, for throwing the most amasing-ish party ever, and for existing on the same planet as them. How very predictable. And yes, Kate will sit half-naked on her interview couch and whine endlessly about her 888 weeks of bed rest and how she can't believe it was 10 years ago. Gotta make it all about her, you know.

Carole said... 101

... they have all those kids, to raise, yes, but, everyone needs a personal hobby. Kids, can be put in pre-school & school. ... Michelle does not know what to do with herself. No babies, she is lost.

All of the Duggar children have been home schooled (so no preschool and school for them) with Michelle doing the bulk of the teaching of the younger ones, then turning them over to the older kids when they can study more independently.

They're going to be lost when all of the kids are self sufficient and independent and they need to find some new interests.
Michelle has said recently that with the younger children not needing as much of her attention she's trying to spend more time one-on-one with each child. One episode she was shooting slingshots with one of the boys and last week she asked one of the older girls to help her brush up on the violin. I think she's quite aware that she needs to find things to occupy the free time she's finding herself with now that she's not caring for an infant. I hope she uses it to spend more time with each child individually - something she wasn't able to do when all of the kids were younger.

As for Jim Bob; I've never been able to figure out exactly what he does with his time. lol I know they have a lot of investment properties but IDK how much time it takes to manage them plus I'm sure the older boys help him. I know fixing his hair in the morning takes him forever and he's not the fastest mover, nor the most organized either, but what he does with the rest of his day is a mystery.

If it is just a typical birthday bash it's going to be boring. Doesn't anyone at TLC sit around the brainstorming desk and say guys is this really the best we can do? Or maybe they really don't give a crap at this point. Phone it in. The sad thing is this will just solidify Kate's importance in Kate's mind. Important enough that a mundane trip to Michaels is actually interesting enough to be filmed. Sheesh.

FlimsyFlamsy said... 103

Coupons for 40% off on regular priced items are available just about

items (one came out for Memorial Day weekend). If she's truly

rest of the common and mediocre.

Layla said... 105

If Kate couldn't get TLC to pay for a birthday trip (and you know she tried!), then the next best thing would be to try to make them pay for as much other stuff as possible. She would then insist on having a pool party so she can get them to foot the bill for opening the pool for the summer. She used to say that swimming was a tradition for the tups' birthday, even if it was still cold outside. But if she can get TLC to pay for opening the pool, then traditions be damned! Swimming can wait.

Remember the pictures of the tups' actual birthday, when they had a couple books and that was it? Of course she said there were other gifts, but didn't even send out a tweet about the kids' shrieks of delight while opening presents. There are other presents, but I have no doubt she made them wait until filming to get them. Because then, of course, she can get TLC to pay for them. TLC paid for opening the pool, for catering and gifts and supplies and decorations and a cake. Typical Kate, out for every dime she could squeeze out of them. It didn't matter to her that the tups had no real celebration on their actual birthday. What are these kids learning? That no event (birthday, holiday, etc) has any meaning unless you get stuff out of it at someone else's expense.

Layla said... 106

Oh, and of course she will have TLC buy new swimsuits for all of them. Last year she was able to grift from that NoNetz place, but I doubt that they want anything to do with her this year. She would have to find someone else to grift suits from. Hell-o, TLC!
Oh, and a warning to all who may watch. Kate will be sure to prance around the pool in her latest grifted bikini. Get the eye bleach ready.

It is possible for Michelle Duggar to be in the first stages of menopause. In my family, we tend to be done with it all by 50-52. I'm 46 and I already have perimenopause. I should be wrapped up and done right on family schedule.

Carole said... 108

I think it was just speculation here on the blog that the special would center around the tup's 10th birthday because of the timing of the announcement and when filming was rumored to be taking place. From all of the reports though it's just to catch viewers up on the family - boring, imo but maybe TLC is going to make a summer out of family updates. Last week they updated viewers on the Quintuplet's by Surprise family w/K+8 supposed to air in June but no date has been announced yet.

"The network that made the Gosselins famous has scheduled another special that will check in with mama Kate, her now 13-year-old twins and the sextuplets. As for Jon? Yeah — no word for now on whether the ex will make an appearance.

The hour-long special will air in June and “will give an update about their life as a family today.” That includes covering what the kids’ interest are now (which probably includes them wanting to pursue lives away from the media glare), as well as Kate’s life and “career.”

http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/03/18/tlc-to-air-another-kate-plus-8-special/

I think it's interesting that they'd send a full crew multiple times to film the TLC special. Didn't they get enough interesting footage the first trip? I hardly think TFW shopping at Michael's is going to make riveting tv.

In March TFW said, "They cheered like crazy. It was like I announced that it's Christmas tomorrow," Kate, 38, tells Us. "Our crew walked in and it was like they had never left."
http://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/kate-gosselins-kids-extremely-excited-tlc-special-jon-gosselin-doesnt-approve-2014203

"The special promises to touch on how all eight kids have grown, what their interests are currently and the latest on Kate's life and career. Viewers will also get a look back at some of the Gosselins' favorite memories. The sextuplets – Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah, and Joel – are nearly 10, while older sisters Mady and Cara are officially teenagers at 13."

And this is how some people talk and it's BS. God calls them or speaks to them to do this or that. But when the message does not fit their agenda all of a sudden nobody is speaking to them anymore. You can't have it both ways.
******
It reminds me of a powerful episode of The West Wing, when President Bartlett struggled with not commuting the sentence of a death row prisoner, and let the execution proceed.
Bartlett sought counsel from an old family friend, a priest, who offered this anecdote:

Father Thomas Cavanaugh: You remind me of the man that lived by the river. He heard a radio report that the river was going to rush up and flood the town, and that the all the residents should evacuate their homes. But the man said, "I'm religious. I pray. God loves me. God will save me." The waters rose up. A guy in a rowboat came along and he shouted, "Hey, hey you, you in there. The town is flooding. Let me take you to safety." But the man shouted back, "I'm religious. I pray. God loves me. God will save me." A helicopter was hovering overhead and a guy with a megaphone shouted, "Hey you, you down there. The town is flooding. Let me drop this ladder and I'll take you to safety." But the man shouted back that he was religious, that he prayed, that God loved him and that God will take him to safety. Well... the man drowned. And standing at the gates of St. Peter he demanded an audience with God. "Lord," he said, "I'm a religious man, I pray, I thought you loved me. Why did this happen?" God said, "I sent you a radio report, a helicopter and a guy in a rowboat. What the hell are you doing here?"

God sent JB + Michelle a very sick and fragile premie, a miscarried little girl, and a wise doctor, and they refuse to listen.

I think God has spoken.

T said... 118

I also think that the Dugger's visit to the fertility specialist was a ratings ploy. Michelle's last successful pregnancy was so high risk, that it nearly killed her and the baby, so be assured that the many medical professionals related to their care have more than made clear to them the realities of any future pregnancies.

However, it must also be acknowledged that medical advances have made more later in life babies possible. Very often we are hearing about this or that Hollywood star having babies late in life, (Halle berry 47 & Laura Linney 49 come to mind). BUT these are the exceptions and NOT the rule. For every success, there are countless heartaches that we do not hear about. Michelle and Jim Bob would do well to give a voice to these people instead. Being that voice could help both them and others far more than these sad scripted ploys.

I should also note that my own mother was a very late in life baby. My grandmother was 47 when she had her, and there's 9 years between my mom and her siblings. It was all quite natural and according to my grandmother, a bit of scandal too! My grandmother was always the exception to the rule though. One of my mother's brother's was born with developmental disabilities (brain damage from oxygen deprivation not down's) and she refused to put him in an institution (as was the practice back then) and kept him at home instead. He lived with her until she was well into her 90's and fought for him her whole life, including sending him to school with the rest of my aunts and uncles even though the nuns had no idea what to do with him, and helping him get a job packing boxes at a factory when he was an adult (she went with him everyday). She never made a big deal about any of it, and as a kid it all seemed perfectly "common" to me, but trust me she really was amazing.

One thing I can say about the Duggars is that when they do a kids interview sit down, and these kids are way younger than the G6, they do sit and not move around and do talk very clearly, I recall some of the G6, have a very hard time being understood, and sitting still. Jmo

-----
-----

They are ten years old. I certainly would hope by now that they can sit still and be understood. They go to school, so certainly their attention span is such that they can sit quietly without being all over the place. If not, then there's a problem.

She is cocky and arrogant and thinks she's all that and a bag of chips.

She's nothing more than Eliza Doolittle's slutty older sister.

This hot mess is supposedly adopting 2 young teenage boys, and when Dr. Phil asked why she's adopting, all she could talk about was herself.
V said she had so much energy and is "maternal", yet said nothing, zero, about the boys themselves.
I can't believe an adoption would go through and children would be put in this circus which shows no sign of stopping anytime soon.

Sheesh.

Not while Kate is screaming, threatening, swinging, swatting and belittling 8 other people on camera as they roll. And gleefully too, so she can show the crew how distressed and abused and overwhelmed she is. The better to get the crew to step, fetch and provide pampering for the poor overworked mom.

The bit at Michael's is some rich snot's idea of the Dollar Tree to provide some kind of decoration for the kids' bday party or pool boys opening day. Piecin and patchin' all the hired help, donchaknow. (A great sacrifce for the Duchess of PA who can no longer afford a decorating company, but must shop the premade stuff herself and have production assistants set it up. Sniffle, dab...)

I loved it when she picked up those 2 big stacks of magazines and said she hadn't even read them! Remember the mother of pearl ring with the 8 surrounding diamonds? Then Ellen came back with well, are all the kids going to have a ring with one diamond? And that vile witch, said, yea, when they get a job!

How cruel to say something like that. They are suppose to give her the MOP w/diamonds out of their pocket, but get a job and pay for each of their own one diamond? That is like saying to them, you have to get me one and pay for it yourself and then IF you want one, get it yourself. It is like she doesn't even care about them!

Just wait till the twins get their drivers licenses and the tups turn 12. They will REBEL for her to buy them a nice car. She said years ago that they would have to get jobs to buy their own.

All of her words will find her when they hit those driving years and I believe it will all hit like a Cat. 5.

I wish those kids had someone to stick up for them when they don't want to film. Someone mentioned that "the kids miss filming" will be mentioned once? I think we could make a drinking game of it. Drink every time Kate plugs for a new show. You'll be sloshed in no time.

When the special comes out, if the twins seem to have control over when they are filmed, we'll know they have something good (juicy) on their mother. Could be Steve, could be something worse. Too bad they won't share it with their siblings.

&&&7

I don't even consider them an exception. They're using donor eggs. Virtually any of us could have a baby well into our 40's or 50's no problem, IF we used another woman's eggs. Michelle Duggar could get pregnant tomorrow if she used a donor. Of course these celebs hardly ever disclose that they're using a donor, which has created a very dangerous perception for some people who don't look into the issue further that as long as you're willing to do "fertility treatments" you can put off having babies until your 40s. NOT SO unless you are willing to use donor eggs, which is even more expensive than the money patients may have scraped together for the fertility treatments, and certainly much more vexing. I think it's one of the worst things that celebrity culture has done for women. Much worse than letting people think you just look that way without surgery, or that you should be as skinny as a toothpick. We're talking about people's ability to bear children of their own, and it potentially being robbed from them because they were mislead by a bunch of magazine covers over the past 18 years. We need to do better at educating women about the real consequences of putting off children. The rule of thumb the doctors say is to try to aim for 35 or younger. While many, many women have babies just fine after 35, many, many do not without serious help.

Bottom line, it's more of an issue with our eggs, not our uterus or body.

While reminiscing last night, I found a story about her at the Globe & Mail newspaper, a pretty long story. It was from the time she was 7 and started her own recycling business, to the day that she died. It was interesting reading about that part of her life. So having email, I was able to send the story to people who would be interested in reading it. Everything is forever on the internet, tfw needs to remember that.

I think there are a few gender- selecting techniques out there such as sperm-spinning and sperm dye testing. It's mainly used for reducing chances of a Y chromosome- linked condition. I think you can pay ( a lot) to choose the gender of IVF/IUI babies.

thuvia said... 143

Some recent research about 'geriatric pregnancy', what awful terminology, reveals that older women have higher rates of twins born than younger women. Two women I know over 40 have had twins without fertility treatments or egg donors.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 144

That's how some of these celebs try to play off their expensive egg donor treatments. Oh well older women have twins a lot, so. And yes it's outrageously expensive to determine the gender which is why celebs can afford it.

I really don't understand why this particular areas is still so taboo. We've become so open about everything else especially sexuality. Every other area people champion "coming out."

And yet reproduction is the one area where celebs will lie up the wazoo about it (and in the process do a disservice to other women making them think reproduction is possible at that age when it's simply not). Anyone should be able to freely say I used an egg donor, and/or surrogate and I have one, two or more beautiful children as a result and I'm grateful my donor allowed me to be a mother. I highly recommend it if you cannot have children of your own. Yet I can only think of one or two celebs who have ever admitted to it.

I've been Googling "gender selection." Interesting reading. Haven't found anything on asking for twins, a boy and a girl. Seems a large percentage of women want baby girls. Guess Kate isn't the only one who thinks boys are icky.

The American Society for Reproductive Medicine says it’s concerned that gender selection is leading otherwise healthy women to undergo unnecessary medical procedures, and that fertility doctors might turn their attention away from treating infertility to pursue a more lucrative specialty. And the group points out the possible psychological harm to children born through gender selection. They fear these children would be pressured to live up to the stereotypes of the gender that was picked out and paid for by their parents.

“It’s high-tech eugenics,” said Marcy Darnovsky, director of the Center for Genetics and Society, a Berkeley, Calif. nonprofit focused on reproductive technologies. “If you’re going through the trouble and expense to select a child of a certain sex, you’re encouraging gender stereotypes that are damaging to women and girls. …What if you get a girl who wants to play basketball? You can’t send her back.”

Despite the objections from some medical ethicists, it seems that gender selection, like many aspects of fertility medicine, will remain legal and unregulated in the United States.

She said she has not found the partner, but definitely wants to be a mother one day. So she went to fertility doctor, took meds to simulate ovulation, and had her eggs harvested and frozen for future use. It would be kinda hard to do DWTS while pregnant, and she wants to keep working for now, and can foresee stopping to have a child in her forties.

"I actually feel that women in my position, when we have all at our disposal to help us, shouldn't complain," she says. "Consider all the people who really struggle and don't have the financial means, don't have the support, and many people are single raising children. That's hard."

Sounds about right. Although I'd add in "cue Kate pointing this way and that to show off her recent French tip manicure."

Jeanne -- I've had several posts disappear over the last couple of days, too. I don't even get the "awaiting approval" message, just POOF! Gone.

Another reason so many older celebs are having boy/girl twins is because they are using IVF, and two or more embryos are implanted. There's a 50/50 chance of one each that way, even if gender selection is used. BTW -- I don't know how I feel about gender selection. I don't think it quite approaches "gender eugenics", and I can see its purpose when the mother carries a lethal X linked disease, such as Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy, but it does seem unethical in many cases. But that's something I feel should be left up to the individual's conscience and her Higher Power. I think some women want daughters for various reasons other than thinking boys are "icky". Some want a "mini me" and others think that a daughter would be easier to raise than a son.

Shocked to see a big 'Ha' at the end of my post! It was part of Have a great weekend, that I tried to type in the first time-sorry, sounds like a snobby thing to say!

Thanks for the weather report Over in TFW's County. My son was flying in to Philly for a wedding and was diverted to Baltimore because of weather. He just landed in Philly. Even though he's an adult he's still my baby and I worry. He's heading to Jersey.

If Kate tweets that they had a hail storm, this time she's not fibbing or exaggerating. I've never seen anything like it. I was pulling into the parking lot at the mall, only to find out it was being evacuated because the skylight caved in. Wyomissing was hard hit. People were pulling over to the side of the road with broken windshields and dented cars, and PennDot brought out snow plows to clear some of the streets. That's how bad it was. Not #superfunhail by any means.

)))

Yes, I saw the pictures. One car had little dents all over it. That storm skirted us but we did get a smaller hail stone later.

I'm glad you're OK.
Kate's not going to tweet until the filming is over and she's bored again.
Maybe we can look forward to Kate's flailing arms and Frenchie fingertips waving hysterically for the crew to get footage of the storm!

Pairiemary,

I read your daughter's story, and it was very touching.

However, if your last name is the same as your daughter's, I would advise you to delete your post. You really don't want somebody like McGiblets coming after you because you post here or because of what you post. If you don't delete it, treat every post you make as if it is being made under your real name and don't post anything you wouldn't post under your real name.

I am very hesitant to post here with any personal information at all. Because of that, my most-commented on sediment was made under anonymous. And the information in it could only have identified me someone who knows me really well.

Eight years from now, Kate will still be piecin and patchin, whining about the high cost of college, stlll grifting, maybe trying to sweet talk TLC into filming "Graduating Gosselins Go To College," with a free one-year tuition in exchange for filming.

The sheeple and the non-fans will still be at war, in full Hatfields and McCoys mode; Goody will still be tweeting platitudes, with occasional jabs about child support and Kate's ex from hell, all the while saying that the Kate trolls are the ones who stir up trouble; Hole-in-The Heart Sheep will still be {{{{hugging}}}} and kissing up to BV; Gypsie will have delivered her 10th child, surpassing Kate; Emily will have been adopted by Kate in hopes of talking Kate into landing her an acting job in the theater somewhere, or she will have secured a position as a roadie for Cher; the slow sheeple will still be asking Kate for her famous Kate Salad recipes while praising her up and down for her burned pizza; Nicole will still be pestering Kate to read her book and give testimonials, and Gladys will still be a-droolin and a-lusting after Kate's rockin bikini body, having moved to PA where she set up an RV (like Cousin Eddie's in Christmas Vacation) so she has better access to Kate's windows,

What else? In short, nothing much will have changed.

I think there are a few gender- selecting techniques out there such as sperm-spinning and sperm dye testing. It's mainly used for reducing chances of a Y chromosome- linked condition. I think you can pay ( a lot) to choose the gender of IVF/IUI babies.

====

Sperm-spinning? Sounds like a party game. Is there a Vitamix involved? Egg beaters, maybe? A whisk?

Geez and here my grandmother used to say drink vinegar and water if you want a boy. I guess they've perfected the science of gender selecting.

So let me get this straight, in order to go out to dinner in rural PA TFW needs to make reservations using a fake name. Why? The paps haven't been around for a long time. No one cares. The stint on CA and the filming of the update have really fed her ego and fueled her delusions of grandeur. Now this is a story that the rag mags should run with. What z-list former reality personality makes dinner reservations using a fake name because she thinks she's all that? I'd love to know what name she used. Maybe she used Kate Neild....wishful thinking on her part or they've been secretly married....don't run with that LB it's only a joke and I have no idea what name she used.

Funny, Kate Neild was what came to my mind first too. Or she Travoltified it to Kobe Nicheems.

A fake name? For a reservation in Berks or close by? You've got to be kidding. No one would call the paps. The reservation/dinner must also be for the show. She could be having a nice dinner on the producer's dime. Like a "business" meeting. If the kids are there, it's definitely for the filming. To be charitable, if she had dinner with a producer "friend," it could have been the producer's name. (And no, I don't know why I'm being charitable.)

For a number of years, Kelly McGillis lived on a farm in Mohnton. She gave one interview in the Reading Eagle. Hardly anyone bothered her. We all knew which property. This was in the 90s I think. She was a much bigger star than Kate. She was never reported to ask for a store to shut down so she could shop. People who met her said she was very nice.

Kate is such a fool. Totally out of touch with reality.

The hail storm was very bad. The hail was a narrow band. Lots of people had bad rain. Only a section had hail. Unfortunately it was a busy highway, the mall, the hospital, and lots of office buildings. I have at least 4 friends with totaled cars. One of them was a new car; she hadn't made the first payment. There are some amazing pictures on websites for Reading Eagle, WFMZ, and WPVI. I was luckily out of the hail. The emergency alert kept beeping on tv. They kept saying hail coming and put your car under cover. I have no idea how that helps all the people at work.

The hail was nowhere near Kate's house. I don't think it spread as far as her beloved Target.

OT: Our America With Lisa Ling. Last night's program profiled the family members of notorious killers. Lisa Ling's interviews excellent. Her approach to any topic is nonjudgmental. She asks questions in her liquid velvet voice and allows the feelings and words and stories of her subjects to be more important than she is.

I thought that the dinner out might be filmed for the show, but the tweeter didn't mention any filming. Seems like that's something that would have been worth tweeting. I am puzzled why Kate would take all her children out to dinner, to a restaurant that takes reservations no less. It's so totally out of character. Sure, she might take the older girls, but six 10-year olds to boot? It doesn't fit her M.O. I wonder what it was all about, and what was in it for Kate.

They are prepping up for TFW's comeback tour with her TLC special by starting to paint Jon badly again. I'm not sure what he did or didn't do, but this is Modus Operandi for the KateKrew and her publicists. Bring out the bad Jon so that Mediocre Kate can look 'that' much better. Sorry, not sorry, but it's not fooling anyone anymore. They both need a lot of help.

I'm guessing the restaurant in the middle of the school week was a bribe for filming. Or maybe she got TLC to pay for all their food during filming so she's just taking advantage of that. In any case, what ego. The locals really are done with her. Talk about burning bridges. I can't remember a town ever as annoyed with their local celeb as this one. lol.

Dollars to donuts this was Jon's second job he doesn't need anymore and it was a mutual parting on good terms, not a "firing".

Or maybe if he was late it was because he was dropping off his children and Kate wouldn't open the gate. Two sides to every story and of course they don't try to get his comment on it. It's just so darn predictable, Jon hasn't said a peep since Couples Therapy but now it's time to stir the pot again about his private life and fuel the deadbeat dad storyline.

What I've never understood is why the sheeple don't understand this is Kate's problem and Kate's problem alone. If she is not satisfied with the support her ex gives his children she can march her little fanny down to her local child support division and initiate an order to show cause. It's on her. Unless and until she does that I'm going to assume all members of this family are happy with the current arrangement. It's up to THEM if they are unsatisfied with either parent's contribution to the children, not the sheeple. As far as I can tell Kate seems fine with the current situation, whatever that may be, and we have no idea what that is. So give it a rest.
