In many American cities, the sale, possession and use of fireworks is banned under penalty of severeness. So you often see stands at the city limit line with warnings to enjoy them there.
I visited a cousin in the suburbs of Los Angeles one June and was surprised to see stands all over the place in town. I would have thought a nanny state with a history of devastating wildfires would have banned them long ago.
Here's the thing: because the story was in the NE, I had my doubts, but then I read it, and the way the manual was written sounded exactly like Kate. She has a distinct "turn of phrase" and employs unusual figures of speech.

People here love their home fireworks and I hate them because they upset my dog.
In my town we are only allowed to set them off on July 4 but literally for six weeks before and after people set them off night after night. It gets my dog all freaked out night after night. He doesn't even want to go for walks right now because he's afraid of outside. There are plenty of excellent professional shows you can see from almost any vantage point in LA. Home fireworks are so dangerous and a real nuisance to neighbors.
On another note, this is why you should not engage with these nuts.
They will never accept any explanation you offer no matter how reasonable which is why I refuse to go there anymore no matter how much it drives them nuts.
He posted a ton of pictures showing how much the dogs were loving their play date with him. Do the sheeple care, nope. They're sticking to their original message.

I'm not sure I follow this logic. If the nanny was in violation of the agreement, she could be sued for releasing the information. It doesn't matter if the material released is true or not...she'd still get the nanny for disclosing information, She wouldn't have to admit it's true if it weren't a libel case.

I don't think that's right. I think it does matter if the information is true. You're not in violation of a confidentiality agreement if you're disclosing false information. That's just plain libel, and that is a whole different cause of action and a whole different set of legal standards.
If the nanny's telling the truth, and the evidence is overwhelming she is, Kate would have to sue for violation of the confidentiality agreement. Two big problems though, she probably doesn't know WHICH nanny spilled the beans. You have to have a defendant first. What's she going to do, sue every nanny who ever came into the house? And NE isn't going to give up their source unless a judge makes them, and a judge wouldn't. And second problem is no judge is going to listen to her whine about confidentiality agreements when someone is whistle blowing about the mistreatment of children and parental alienation. It ain't gonna happen. That's not how confidentiality works. If the nanny "dished" about Steve that might be another matter because there's really no compelling public interest in that other than gossip and curiosity. But we're talking about mistreatment of children here, a totally different thing.
If the nanny's not telling the truth, Kate would have to sue for libel, and she would bear the burden of proof because she is without a doubt a public figure.
So go ahead and sue, I'll pop the popcorn. You know the sad thing is she is probably sitting back thinking whatever I don't care if people see that they'll just see I run a tight ship. I "need" to run things like this because I have eight kids. You would do it too.
I don;t think she even realizes how f-ed up those directions were. Most of them anyway. If I had one wish for her it would be therapy. Intensive therapy. She needs to figure out why she must have such control even over something dumb about doors. Is it because she was abused as a child and now has a desperate need to take back "control"? Was she molested? Is it just her mental illness driving her to behave this way? Who CARES if a door is open or closed, you have eight kids and you'll drive yourself batty obsessing over something so trivial.
I don't understand how this sort of over the top and intense militant control makes her happy. And in a couple years the kids are going to quickly realize they don't have to live like this anymore and get out. A fifteen year old isn't going to care about you belly aching about doors. They'll leave it open just to spite you. And they have an easy way out in that they can just go live with Jon. She WILL push them away and she will only have herself to blame.

I noticed something blatantly wrong in the sheeple manifesto. Well a ton of things but one that stuck out. They say a lawyer is required to report to the court claims of child abuse therefore Robert must have never reported the abuse. Ah-HA!!! (lol)
Actually no. A lawyer is required to maintain strict confidentiality with information he obtains and only disclose it if his client WANTS it disclosed. And if there is no court case in the first place over the abuse, the lawyer has no "court" to report it to. CPS has to FILE first and if they don't file there is no case. You're out of luck. If a client walks into my office today and says I reported this to CPS you have to do something, I would have to tell them, and have told them, I'm sorry I can't do anything unless a case is filed. Your remedy is an administrative review with CPS internal complaints, not ME.
A lawyer does not, under any stretch of the imagination, "report" to court like that.
I don't have to tell the judge anything unless they ask me to, and even then I'm will to be held in contempt if I believe the disclosure would violate my ethical duties as an attorney. In fact if my client tells me they abused their child not only do I not have to say a damn thing to anyone about it, but I'm FORBIDDEN from doing so unless they give the ok.

I believe it is mostly her own mental illness, and it is only getting worse year after year. I'm no mental health expert, but based on the information we've gotten over the years about how Kate behaved even as a child, how she was during her dating years, info shared by fellow nurses how she threw herself at every doctor trying to land one, how she milked Jon's wealthy father for money, money, and more money, etc. -- it's clear to me that she's been focused solely on getting what she wants from a very early age, no matter what. I think she's always only care about herself. And her mental status is deteriorating, as it always seems to do as people age.

Admin and any others with dogs who are upset by fireworks - I feel for them! My sister's German Shepherd is the same way and has to suffer every year. Here in California we're in a multi-year drought situation, everything dry as tinder, and I'm very nervous about home fireworks. They are not allowed in my city, but in the smaller city next door, they are allowed. So people buy them in the next city over, bring them home to my town and set them off. There's no way police can keep on top of everyone and there are always grass fires, sometimes house fires, because of the fireworks. This is one tradition that I think should only be allowed at local fairgrounds, done by professionals.

I had a thought. I noticed that the marathon episodes of the Gosselin family that TLC is running today are reruns of J&K+8 and K+8: Sextuplets turn 10. Could it be that TCFW negotiated into her contract for K+8 that she get paid residuals for reruns and that's why TLC is not showing any? Or is it just a big FU from TLC?

Reality tv generally doesn't pay 'residuals' or any benefits of any type. I think it's pretty unlikely TFW was able to negotiate something like that in her contract. Residuals are found in SAG contracts but reality tv participants aren't members. They never made anything on the dvd sales, nor the fan merchandise like t-shirts and mugs from the show, had no benefits, so I think residuals weren't avail either. As for running J&K+8 instead of just K+8 - maybe TLC is running the most popular episodes and we know those are the ones where the kids are younger and Jon was still on the show. ;-)

See I disagree, I think when negotiations came up for Kate Plus 8 she had enough representation on her side and was big enough, at that time, to demand, and get, residuals. The people representing her at that time were highly skilled and experienced. They would know to insist on it and walk if they don't get it.
One of our biggest clues she does indeed get residuals is TLC's absolute refusal to re-air Kate Plus 8. They're only airing Jon and Kate Plus 8. In fact they're doing another marathon today as I recall, of Jon and Kate.

There's actually been quite a few experts over the years who have said something. Our memories tend to be short, but there have been.
In particular I recall the Christian therapist Dr. Linda Mintle all the way back in 2010, four years ago, writing a couple blog posts about how bad she thought the situation was.

Sheesh I feel the exact opposite. There's nothing wrong about somebody pulling out a video camera and taping you. It's the airing it on TV that's the problem.
Anybody of this generation had a dad or grandpa or aunt always with their newest little camcorder toy pulling it out filming you. We have tapes and tapes at my home of birthday parties, school graduations, piano recitals. Kids my age were always filmed. Didn't harm us one bit. But those tapes are just for US, the family.
It's the airing it on T.V. that's the big problem. You're then exposing your private lives to millions of strangers. Strangers who then think they have a relationship with you and make demands on you. You can't walk outside your home without getting recognized. You've become a celeb.

As I recall that's exactly what she said, that as Christians we should speak up when we see something wrong.
The sheeple cry "Don't judge!" but they can't think on a deeper level than that. For instance, what happens when you're value of "don't judge", while sometimes a good one, conflicts with another value, such as "speak up when someone is being harmed"? Does don't judge always come first, or does speak up sometimes come first?
When I was a nanny I saw troubled kids who were in pain and desperately missed their mother who was gone all the time or not interested in them. Was I to not judge, or was I to try to do something about it, like try to encourage her involvement more and try to help them work through those feelings? We had lots of long talks about how they felt and grew very close as a result, and I don't regret "judging" the situation. I could have just ignored it and pretended it wasn't happening, but isn't that just enabling it and being insensitive to a child's feelings by giving the impression I condone such neglect? I don't believe in being an enabler.

On another thing: TLC is running a JK8 marathon today, starting at 12pm central time, till 9pm, at 9pm is another multi family show. All but the night time episodes are JK8, the other 2 are repeat of the K8 special. Geez, TLC is trying to get their money worth. I won't be watching, have things to do and I rather watch re-runs of Law & order SVU then some self entitled, screaming, lazy, mom who belittles her husband on national TV and treats her kids like little ATM's.

I think what Dr Drew meant when he said kids appearing on reality tv is bad is that for child actors, they can leave the set and go home. Home is their sanctuary, their private place. But kids on reality TV? Their homes are the set. No sanctuary, no privacy. The K+8 specials just reinforced that there is no place off-limits where the kids can go to be away from the camera. The G kids are filmed in the bathroom, in their bedrooms. It is up to their mother to set limits so that the kids can get away from the cameras. Kate refuses to do that for them.

Jamie's kids seemed nice despite the G kids' treatment of them.She appeared to be a good enough mom despite their being on the show, and kind to the G8...wonder why she lost custody.

She's not only trying to discredit Robert, but also Dr. Cornbluth. She said that it's unethical of an expert like Dr. Cornbluth to write about Kate and the kids because she has never met them. It was true years ago that her ex got primary custody. I always thought it could have something to do with a chemical dependency. It's unusual for moms to not be the custodial parent unless there is some pretty bad issue. That is only my speculation. She and Kate are incredibly chummy, so they may have a bonding, if you get my drift.

The sheep also can't wrap their minds around the difference between diagnosing someone versus making general comments about a person's situation. There is nothing unethical or improper about a professional making comments on a situation as they know it. This is done every day. It is completely appropriate for a child development expert or therapist to express concern about a situation they have come to know due to what has been put out there. And they have. And their comments are important. We should listen to experts in areas like this not brush them off. Unless then are called to make a clinical diagnosis of an individual they can properly comment on the situation just like a lawyer might comment on a high profile case or a doctor might comment on someone famous with an obscure illness, even if they never met them. Doesn't mean their comments are untrue or not valuable.
As for the closely supervised games, remember the sh*t storm from Cara over musical instruments in Farm to Table ( I think) Back then Kate said she keeps out of it and lets them do their own thing/arguments...on camera, anyhow. That was wickedly weird how upset C was.

Did anyone else see her rule for the kids when they were with the nanny was just one hour of tv a day? That's fine but it appears to be a case of do as I say not as I do. Her own tweets confirm the mountains of tv they watch even during the school week and often it's two hours or more of programming like the Voice.
I could care less how much or little tv you decide is best for your family but tv is a convenient way to get kids to quiet down that she is happy to take advantage of herself yet won't give the nanny the same privilege.

I watched Part 2 of the 10th birthday episode, thanks to the YouTube link, and as Joy has pointed out many times, what a bore! First and foremost, the children are more obviously just her excuses, her pawns to get herself back in front of the camera. Whatever happens from now until the next milestone (turning 13 and 16) will have little point or meaning; she will just bide her time in the dead zone, saddled with her 8 "beasts", planning the next televised extravaganza!
What struck me is how disingenuous she is, you can see the familiarity of her pattern a mile out. She mounts an Herculean task, (carnival, this time), insurmountable by others, but a "must-do" for Kate (for the love her children of course). Everything is designed to be over-the-top, to showcase her supposed organizational skills. The kids are nothing but bit players, and this "show" had absolutely nothing to with them turning 10, nothing. She is utterly transparent.
Rolling out the Gator proved to me how little TFW cares for her children. Clearly, she bought it for herself, had it revealed and driven by the sister who claims the recipients ruined her "life plan". Add to that, they all knew at some level this was a piece of equipment for the property not them. Why, if nothing else, did their mother not present the gift to her 6 children? Instead, she let Mady and Cara lay claim to it first, and the "little ones" knew they'd be second in line right from the start. Geez.

I can't imagine growing up in an environment so lacking in visual stimulation as that prison/orphanage. No pictures or decorations or really, any personal stuff in their bedrooms, very little elsewhere. I get that with 3 kids in a room and, if they all have different tastes and interests, it might be a bit dicey finding something they all agree on, but really -- no bookcases filled with colorful books, no pictures, no stuffies on beds, nothing. Just dull and plain and boring.

During then part where the kids call Kate out about her broken "foot"/ toe, they removed the portioned where she says "I did break my foot, it was the bone that connects my toe to my foot" and then she says "I don't care! I hobbled about and you made me feed you anyway" (or something like that) and all of it was cut out. Did anyone else notice?

Ok, I said I would not watch, I did watch 2 episodes, one I know I never saw: the garage sale, and the dog episode. I watch during commercials the Beach one, after 5 mins, I could not take Kate whining, & paranoia. But that episode did answer, the question, does Kate know how to swim? Yes, Kate said she does know how to swim. Perhaps Kate does not know how to do life saving anyone. But she can learn. I had to laugh about the garage sale. When they went to the church parking lot to set up, they had to wait for the tables. So the tables were late, and Jon and that other woman, started to unload the moving truck, while Kate was bitching about no table covers, walking back & forth complaining. Then Jon yells something like why are you standing there, we need to unload. Kate says she was waiting for the table covers or something, Jon tells her to come over and unload, while you wait. That was not the only time Kate did nothing. Part of the beach that I watched, the nanny/hire help, put the bathingsuits on the kids, even broke up a few fights, Jon was also doing stuff, and Kate was no where to be found, not lifting a finger.
To answer the question does Kate like animals. Yeah, as long as, she does not have to take care of them, and they don't live in her house. Kate said clearly, that she never had pets as a kid. She never had a dog, and that she really did not want any dogs, or any pets period.
After, having my brain, assaulted, by Kate's constant annoying whining, lazy, paranoia, complaining, I could not even justify, now my original reasons for ever watching JK8, in the first place. If that show came on now, after about maybe 5 shows, it would have been canceled. I can/could watch Jon, and maybe the kids, yes, they were cute, but even back then, compared to today, the kids, were whiny, they fought with each other, while mom did nothing, I saw dad & nanny break/stop fights. After all this time, the kids have not changed much and Kate has gotten worse. After this viewing, I don't think I will assault my brain again. Do not want a headache.

In many American cities, the sale, possession and use of fireworks is banned under penalty of severeness. So you often see stands at the city limit line with warnings to enjoy them there.
I visited a cousin in the suburbs of Los Angeles one June and was surprised to see stands all over the place in town. I would have thought a nanny state with a history of devastating wildfires would have banned them long ago.

People here love their home fireworks and I hate them because they upset my dog.
In my town we are only allowed to set them off on July 4 but literally for six weeks before and after people set them off night after night. It gets my dog all freaked out night after night. He doesn't even want to go for walks right now because he's afraid of outside. There are plenty of excellent professional shows you can see from almost any vantage point in LA. Home fireworks are so dangerous and a real nuisance to neighbors.
On another note, this is why you should not engage with these nuts.
They will never accept any explanation you offer no matter how reasonable which is why I refuse to go there anymore no matter how much it drives them nuts.
He posted a ton of pictures showing how much the dogs were loving their play date with him. Do the sheeple care, nope. They're sticking to their original message.
Even if Shoka could talk and tell them Robert is the greatest human he ever met they wouldn't stick to their story.

I'm not sure I follow this logic. If the nanny was in violation of the agreement, she could be sued for releasing the information. It doesn't matter if the material released is true or not...she'd still get the nanny for disclosing information, She wouldn't have to admit it's true if it weren't a libel case.

I don't think that's right. I think it does matter if the information is true. You're not in violation of a confidentiality agreement if you're disclosing false information. That's just plain libel, and that is a whole different cause of action and a whole different set of legal standards.
If the nanny's telling the truth, and the evidence is overwhelming she is, Kate would have to sue for violation of the confidentiality agreement. Two big problems though, she probably doesn't know WHICH nanny spilled the beans. You have to have a defendant first. What's she going to do, sue every nanny who ever came into the house? And NE isn't going to give up their source unless a judge makes them, and a judge wouldn't. And second problem is no judge is going to listen to her whine about confidentiality agreements when someone is whistle blowing about the mistreatment of children and parental alienation. It ain't gonna happen. That's not how confidentiality works. If the nanny "dished" about Steve that might be another matter because there's really no compelling public interest in that other than gossip and curiosity. But we're talking about mistreatment of children here, a totally different thing.
If the nanny's not telling the truth, Kate would have to sue for libel, and she would bear the burden of proof because she is without a doubt a public figure.
So go ahead and sue, I'll pop the popcorn. You know the sad thing is she is probably sitting back thinking whatever I don't care if people see that they'll just see I run a tight ship. I "need" to run things like this because I have eight kids. You would do it too.
I don;t think she even realizes how f-ed up those directions were. Most of them anyway. If I had one wish for her it would be therapy. Intensive therapy. She needs to figure out why she must have such control even over something dumb about doors. Is it because she was abused as a child and now has a desperate need to take back "control"? Was she molested? Is it just her mental illness driving her to behave this way? Who CARES if a door is open or closed, you have eight kids and you'll drive yourself batty obsessing over something so trivial.
I don't understand how this sort of over the top and intense militant control makes her happy. And in a couple years the kids are going to quickly realize they don't have to live like this anymore and get out. A fifteen year old isn't going to care about you belly aching about doors. They'll leave it open just to spite you. And they have an easy way out in that they can just go live with Jon. She WILL push them away and she will only have herself to blame.

I noticed something blatantly wrong in the sheeple manifesto. Well a ton of things but one that stuck out. They say a lawyer is required to report to the court claims of child abuse therefore Robert must have never reported the abuse. Ah-HA!!! (lol)
Actually no. A lawyer is required to maintain strict confidentiality with information he obtains and only disclose it if his client WANTS it disclosed. And if there is no court case in the first place over the abuse, the lawyer has no "court" to report it to. CPS has to FILE first and if they don't file there is no case. You're out of luck. If a client walks into my office today and says I reported this to CPS you have to do something, I would have to tell them, and have told them, I'm sorry I can't do anything unless a case is filed. Your remedy is an administrative review with CPS internal complaints, not ME.
A lawyer does not, under any stretch of the imagination, "report" to court like that.
I don't have to tell the judge anything unless they ask me to, and even then I'm will to be held in contempt if I believe the disclosure would violate my ethical duties as an attorney. In fact if my client tells me they abused their child not only do I not have to say a damn thing to anyone about it, but I'm FORBIDDEN from doing so unless they give the ok.

On Extreme Weight Loss or whatever it is called, a true single mom jumped off that sky tower that TFW made a fool of herself on.
The woman's husband commited suicide after coming home from the war. During her weight loss, they brought her and her kids to New Zealand. She climbed the stairs all the way to the top. She was scared to jump off the tower but did it without a scene and hugged her kids at the bottom.
If TFW was watching AGT hope she explained the Penis song to her kids. That 84 yo was hilarious, a bit off color, but hey, he's old, he gets a a pass.

I believe it is mostly her own mental illness, and it is only getting worse year after year. I'm no mental health expert, but based on the information we've gotten over the years about how Kate behaved even as a child, how she was during her dating years, info shared by fellow nurses how she threw herself at every doctor trying to land one, how she milked Jon's wealthy father for money, money, and more money, etc. -- it's clear to me that she's been focused solely on getting what she wants from a very early age, no matter what. I think she's always only care about herself. And her mental status is deteriorating, as it always seems to do as people age.

Admin and any others with dogs who are upset by fireworks - I feel for them! My sister's German Shepherd is the same way and has to suffer every year. Here in California we're in a multi-year drought situation, everything dry as tinder, and I'm very nervous about home fireworks. They are not allowed in my city, but in the smaller city next door, they are allowed. So people buy them in the next city over, bring them home to my town and set them off. There's no way police can keep on top of everyone and there are always grass fires, sometimes house fires, because of the fireworks. This is one tradition that I think should only be allowed at local fairgrounds, done by professionals.

We've been vocal about it for years, but I wish it hadn't taken the experts so long.
I had a thought. I noticed that the marathon episodes of the Gosselin family that TLC is running today are reruns of J&K+8 and K+8: Sextuplets turn 10. Could it be that TCFW negotiated into her contract for K+8 that she get paid residuals for reruns and that's why TLC is not showing any? Or is it just a big FU from TLC?

Reality tv generally doesn't pay 'residuals' or any benefits of any type. I think it's pretty unlikely TFW was able to negotiate something like that in her contract. Residuals are found in SAG contracts but reality tv participants aren't members. They never made anything on the dvd sales, nor the fan merchandise like t-shirts and mugs from the show, had no benefits, so I think residuals weren't avail either.
As for running J&K+8 instead of just K+8 - maybe TLC is running the most popular episodes and we know those are the ones where the kids are younger and Jon was still on the show. ;-)

See I disagree, I think when negotiations came up for Kate Plus 8 she had enough representation on her side and was big enough, at that time, to demand, and get, residuals. The people representing her at that time were highly skilled and experienced. They would know to insist on it and walk if they don't get it.
One of our biggest clues she does indeed get residuals is TLC's absolute refusal to re-air Kate Plus 8. They're only airing Jon and Kate Plus 8. In fact they're doing another marathon today as I recall, of Jon and Kate.

Sheesh I feel the exact opposite. There's nothing wrong about somebody pulling out a video camera and taping you. It's the airing it on TV that's the problem.
Anybody of this generation had a dad or grandpa or aunt always with their newest little camcorder toy pulling it out filming you. We have tapes and tapes at my home of birthday parties, school graduations, piano recitals. Kids my age were always filmed. Didn't harm us one bit. But those tapes are just for US, the family.
It's the airing it on T.V. that's the big problem. You're then exposing your private lives to millions of strangers. Strangers who then think they have a relationship with you and make demands on you. You can't walk outside your home without getting recognized. You've become a celeb.

As I recall that's exactly what she said, that as Christians we should speak up when we see something wrong.
The sheeple cry "Don't judge!" but they can't think on a deeper level than that. For instance, what happens when you're value of "don't judge", while sometimes a good one, conflicts with another value, such as "speak up when someone is being harmed"? Does don't judge always come first, or does speak up sometimes come first?
When I was a nanny I saw troubled kids who were in pain and desperately missed their mother who was gone all the time or not interested in them. Was I to not judge, or was I to try to do something about it, like try to encourage her involvement more and try to help them work through those feelings? We had lots of long talks about how they felt and grew very close as a result, and I don't regret "judging" the situation. I could have just ignored it and pretended it wasn't happening, but isn't that just enabling it and being insensitive to a child's feelings by giving the impression I condone such neglect? I don't believe in being an enabler.

I think what Dr Drew meant when he said kids appearing on reality tv is bad is that for child actors, they can leave the set and go home. Home is their sanctuary, their private place. But kids on reality TV? Their homes are the set. No sanctuary, no privacy. The K+8 specials just reinforced that there is no place off-limits where the kids can go to be away from the camera. The G kids are filmed in the bathroom, in their bedrooms. It is up to their mother to set limits so that the kids can get away from the cameras. Kate refuses to do that for them.

Maybe they see it, maybe they know something is wrong, but they also know her. Talking to her until the cows come home may be a waste of their time. The know that she thinks she knows best and won't listen to any advice...so why even bother?

It's good that we have very little idea of what Jon is doing, just as we have no idea what millions of other private citizens are doing. I do believe Jon did Couples Therapy for the money, because pretty much ever since, he's dropped back out of sight. He doesn't use Twitter, if he has a FB page it's private, and the only news is the occasional sighting of him out with the kids somewhere. I think someone posted here not too long ago about a bar when Jon goes to have a drink. He comes in, sits quietly by himself, has a drink and then leaves. (I wonder if he and Liz are even still a couple.)
I hope he can continue to earn a living out of the spotlight. It gives Kate's fans so very little to bash when he's living the quiet everyday life of a normal person.

I think that household is an extremely stressful place for the children at all times, and has been probably from Day 1. It's only gotten worse since Jon is no longer present to act as a buffer. (And this is not a slam on Jon - just stating a fact of the divorce.)

Yet she and her buddies are "experts" on a dog's behavior from a picture of a dog she has never met.

It was true years ago that her ex got primary custody. I always thought it could have something to do with a chemical dependency. It's unusual for moms to not be the custodial parent unless there is some pretty bad issue. That is only my speculation. She and Kate are incredibly chummy, so they may have a bonding, if you get my drift.
Ugh! After seeing ROL's new website layout, I don't want to even go back. People are really complaining about it on the nanny story.

If Shoka isn't inside today, I really hope that dog has shade and plenty of water. Last evening wasn't bad, and if he slept outside, he would have been fine. Today is another story. It is hot. Brutally hot, with the heat index at 105 right now. My dogs stuck their heads out the door and reluctantly went outside to do their business, sniffed around and quickly came back inside. The sheep also can't wrap their minds around the difference between diagnosing someone versus making general comments about a person's situation. There is nothing unethical or improper about a professional making comments on a situation as they know it. This is done every day. It is completely appropriate for a child development expert or therapist to express concern about a situation they have come to know due to what has been put out there. And they have. And their comments are important. We should listen to experts in areas like this not brush them off. Unless then are called to make a clinical diagnosis of an individual they can properly comment on the situation just like a lawyer might comment on a high profile case or a doctor might comment on someone famous with an obscure illness, even if they never met them. Doesn't mean their comments are untrue or not valuable.
As for the closely supervised games, remember the sh*t storm from Cara over musical instruments in Farm to Table ( I think) Back then Kate said she keeps out of it and lets them do their own thing/arguments...on camera, anyhow. That was wickedly weird how upset C was.

Did anyone else see her rule for the kids when they were with the nanny was just one hour of tv a day? That's fine but it appears to be a case of do as I say not as I do. Her own tweets confirm the mountains of tv they watch even during the school week and often it's two hours or more of programming like the Voice.
I could care less how much or little tv you decide is best for your family but tv is a convenient way to get kids to quiet down that she is happy to take advantage of herself yet won't give the nanny the same privilege.

I watched Part 2 of the 10th birthday episode, thanks to the YouTube link, and as Joy has pointed out many times, what a bore! First and foremost, the children are more obviously just her excuses, her pawns to get herself back in front of the camera. Whatever happens from now until the next milestone (turning 13 and 16) will have little point or meaning; she will just bide her time in the dead zone, saddled with her 8 "beasts", planning the next televised extravaganza!
What struck me is how disingenuous she is, you can see the familiarity of her pattern a mile out. She mounts an Herculean task, (carnival, this time), insurmountable by others, but a "must-do" for Kate (for the love her children of course). Everything is designed to be over-the-top, to showcase her supposed organizational skills. The kids are nothing but bit players, and this "show" had absolutely nothing to with them turning 10, nothing. She is utterly transparent.
Rolling out the Gator proved to me how little TFW cares for her children. Clearly, she bought it for herself, had it revealed and driven by the sister who claims the recipients ruined her "life plan". Add to that, they all knew at some level this was a piece of equipment for the property not them. Why, if nothing else, did their mother not present the gift to her 6 children? Instead, she let Mady and Cara lay claim to it first, and the "little ones" knew they'd be second in line right from the start. Geez.

Holy shit! Kate is AGAIN headlining Radar, this time for allowing her kids to drive, ride in and ride on the back of that ridiculous communal 10th birthday gift that is the Gator.
The article points out that the Gator should be driven by someone at least 16, and the NO ONE should be in the cargo area in back.
Between this, and her little boy crawling under a gigantic Sprinter with Kate's permission, will someone please address her ability to parent, finally?

Vanessa 192 -- the really scary thing is, I think she truly believes that she's the listener and problem solver and that Jon was the yeller and screamer. Never mind that he probably raised his voice fewer times during the entire series than she would in one episode. There's that complete lack of self-awareness again.
I can't imagine growing up in an environment so lacking in visual stimulation as that prison/orphanage. No pictures or decorations or really, any personal stuff in their bedrooms, very little elsewhere. I get that with 3 kids in a room and, if they all have different tastes and interests, it might be a bit dicey finding something they all agree on, but really -- no bookcases filled with colorful books, no pictures, no stuffies on beds, nothing. Just dull and plain and boring.
Could someone enlighten me regarding Cara and musical instruments, please. I stopped watching long before the "Farm to Table" episode. TIA.

Oh, yeah, REAL lucky. The child can look back and see the happy memories of his mother threatening to throw his stuffed animal buddy in the trash; they can see themselves vomiting on the ship and their mother doing nothing about it; Collin can watch himself being put on the laundry room floom in the dark. Great memories on film, there...what every kid wants to watch when they get older.
These sheeple just don't get it. They just don't THINK. I hope when they grow up to be parents they will have matured. If not, heaven help their kids.

I just started reading Robert 's reissued book. Much easier read.
With her bizarre tweets today and what I can stomach so far in the book, I am really concerned what will happen to the kids when they are a financial burden and no TV show is interested. I am frightened for them.
I haven't read the 'book' in a while, but didn't Robert write about a dog incident? Seems that a dog ran up to Kate yapping and she went psycho on the dog owner??

Is anyone else watching the re-run of the part 1 episode? Either my eyes and ears are deceiving me, or they edited it. During then part where the kids call Kate out about her broken "foot"/ toe, they removed the portioned where she says "I did break my foot, it was the bone that connects my toe to my foot" and then she says "I don't care! I hobbled about and you made me feed you anyway" (or something like that) and all of it was cut out. Did anyone else notice?
Auntieann: The only reason Kate was crying is cause, she is mad at herself, cause she did not realize how good she had it. Kate was not crying for the memories.
Ok, I said I would not watch, I did watch 2 episodes, one I know I never saw: the garage sale, and the dog episode. I watch during commercials the Beach one, after 5 mins, I could not take Kate whining, & paranoia. But that episode did answer, the question, does Kate know how to swim? Yes, Kate said she does know how to swim. Perhaps Kate does not know how to do life saving anyone. But she can learn.
I had to laugh about the garage sale. When they went to the church parking lot to set up, they had to wait for the tables. So the tables were late, and Jon and that other woman, started to unload the moving truck, while Kate was bitching about no table covers, walking back & forth complaining. Then Jon yells something like why are you standing there, we need to unload. Kate says she was waiting for the table covers or something, Jon tells her to come over and unload, while you wait. That was not the only time Kate did nothing. Part of the beach that I watched, the nanny/hire help, put the bathingsuits on the kids, even broke up a few fights, Jon was also doing stuff, and Kate was no where to be found, not lifting a finger.
To answer the question does Kate like animals. Yeah, as long as, she does not have to take care of them, and they don't live in her house. Kate said clearly, that she never had pets as a kid. She never had a dog, and that she really did not want any dogs, or any pets period.
After, having my brain, assaulted, by Kate's constant annoying whining, lazy, paranoia, complaining, I could not even justify, now my original reasons for ever watching JK8, in the first place. If that show came on now, after about maybe 5 shows, it would have been canceled. I can/could watch Jon, and maybe the kids, yes, they were cute, but even back then, compared to today, the kids, were whiny, they fought with each other, while mom did nothing, I saw dad & nanny break/stop fights. After all this time, the kids have not changed much and Kate has gotten worse. After this viewing, I don't think I will assault my brain again. Do not want a headache.
Must control my curiosity.
