The Big Tip

Once in awhile a reality show comes along that tries to make a difference. "The Big Tip" promises to do just that by singling out people in the restaurant service industry deserving of recognition for community service or just all around do-gooders (one waitress is a foster mom, another gives all her money to a dog rescue, still another is also a firefighter). Rachael Ray will then present the waiter or waitress with a "big tip" in the form of a check.

We're not the biggest fan of chirpy Rachael Ray, her mediocre cooking skills and her ripoff garbage bowl marketed to solve a problem that never even existed, but this tear jerker is a cool idea. And it has a little bit of credibility, since Rachael started out as a waitress herself in her parents' restaurants. She works hard, owns pit bulls, and she promises not to bear offspring because she just wouldn't be a fit mother, which you have to respect. Looking forward to this one.

Sunday, Food Network. 10 p.m. or check local listings. The series premieres Sunday with promises of more episodes in the fall.

I wonder if TFW still employs a sitter to watch and entertain the kids for the bulk of the hours each day like she did with Ashley so her precious schedule full of important activities (manis, pedis, hair, shopping must be maintained) isn't disrupted because the kids are home.

Wasn't there some fuss about her being in her bedroom while the kids were in the pool a couple of years back. She snapped a photos of something from her window IIRC? I think at the time Joel or Aaden did not like swimming and rarely went in so likely was not a strong swimmer?

I think Kate took a picture of the twins in the pool at night with a couple of their friends for a sleepover. It was taken from inside the house and just flood lights on around the pool.

I had a good laugh at this one! Their orginal crew has gone on to other shows. So I'm sure this was a bunch of new victims..... err.. cameramen. I guess when the crew walked in, Kate and the kids were all huddled around the basement entrance, as that's is the only entrance/exit the crew were allowed. I'm sure the crew were all wearing their Kate demanded disposable shoe bootie covers, properly signed off on having an opinion while on the Konpound and were reminded that the only bathroom they were allowed to use was the basement toilet. (the above all per Robert's book)

Yayyyyy! Just like old times!!!!

I'm trying to understand what is so horrible about any of those rules. When you are filming in someone's home, you don't typically have free run of the house and if the booties helped keep the place clean, what's the big deal?

I don't know what it means to "sign off on having an opinion," but in a work environment there are usually plenty of opinions you can't express. For example, you don't get to call the customer a jerk to her face even when you believe her to be one.

I actually don't have a problem with the booties. Either that or have them take their shoes off or put it in the contract they are to pay for carpet cleaning or replacement on a regular basis. I can see how a crew coming in and out frequently could destroy your floors. Unintentionally of course.

But I do have a problem with signing off on having an opinion. You don't lose your right to speak up when something is bothering you just because you are working for someone. It doesn't mean you won't be vetoed, but a healthy work environment encourages discussion. And especially when there are young vulnerable children involved I think everyone should be free to and even has an obligation to speak their mind as long as they do so respectfully. Kate was not their boss, TLC was. We're not talking about mouthing off to customers, Kate was not their customer. She was a coworker. She was the "talent" cough, and they were the crew. We're talking about being able to have a free discussion about your fellow coworkers and your work environment.

Linda (#8), thank you for expressing your difference of opinion
respectfully. I don't agree about the store owner/customer analogy
because of how TFW defines her relationship with the crew. She
says they're friends of the family, the kids love them, they're "crew
daddies," when they come over it's like Christmas morning. If
that's the dynamic she claims -- that it's a mutual friendship -- then
why must the crew be unable to express an opinion? It seems to
TFW, friendship is saying whatever you want, and milking people
dry, and then any resistance is met with being deleted from her life.

Did Robert include a copy of the contract with the term "cannot express an opinion" or is that someone's paraphrase/interpretation? Again, what does that mean? I find it very hard to believe that nobody was allowed to express an opinion. Opinions on a set might include "Everyone seems tired, let's break for lunch now before continuing." Crew have to express opinions to get the job done, so I'm not understanding how they could be banned from doing so in any context. However, I still contend that in virtually every work environment, people are not free to express any opinion they want.

I appreciate it when people know that they would not make good parents and/or simply don't want to have children - and stick to it. There is so much societal pressure to have at least one kid once you're married, or to provide grandkids for your parents, that it takes a strong person to stand their ground on this one.

The show sounds like a good premise, but I'm usually suspicious of how they choose the recipients. Hopefully in a fair manner.

As to the rule that crew members only enter/exit through a basement door - that smacks to me of the "whites only/blacks only" stuff from Jim Crow south. It also tells me that Kate does not consider crew members her equals. As Admin pointed out, all of them are getting paid by TLC, so they are basically on equal footing. Having some rules in place to keep your home looking nice makes sense, but not treating the crew like they are lesser beings. But that's Kate for you - anyone besides herself is a lesser being.

@Kateplusmy8 just ordered #loveisinthemix cant wait for it to arrive!! Dont know what took me so long to order!

Anyone know how many copies of #moneyinthemix have been sold to-date?

In answer to that question, from what can be seen on NovelRank (Amazon's tracker), she is still UNDER 2,000 copies sold (both hard and Kindle). The book has now sold around 1,850 or so, and that includes UK, Canada, and Germany.

If you generously allow that BN maybe sells 50% of what Amazon does, give her another 1,000 there (including e-book versions, BN does not have a tracker on either paper or digital, they just have a sales ranking).

Librraries and other "institutional" sales? I would venture to say, maybe 500-750.

Other outlets, such as booksamillion, Walmart, etc.? Maybe (and this is VERY generous) another 1,000.

All in, since the end of March 2013, when this turd first hit the market, she's sold MAYBE 4,500 (really, it's probably closer to 3,500). And that's a very big maybe. Even if we supposed HCI made her a generous deal on royalties--say, for the sake of argument, 40% of list price of $22.95 (which would be VERY sweet indeed)--she COULD have made as much as $40,000 in royalties thus far (not including whatever advance she got, although that might well have been "against sales," meaning she wouldn't get paid a cent in royalties until she'd earned back her advance).

But all of the above is estimating VERY liberally and at far greater than the typical author margins (of 20-25%) against list price. My guess is she's possibly made $25-30,000. And if HCI really DID print 50,000 of these at THEIR own expense (i.e., she didn't self-publish, as many speculated)? They're sitting on enough copies for the next, um, 16-17 years. But they won't wait that long--if they aren't already, these will be in dollar bins soon, and thence to pulp.

So yes, THANKS, Kate, for destroying so many trees for the sake of your vanity. Glad you got maybe 2.5 kids' private-school tuition for one year out of it. I really hope that HCI was lying (again, for the sake of HER vanity) when they said they printed 50,000.

Yes and you really see few celebs whose lifestyle is not always suited for children willing to do what Rachael Ray did and decide not to have kids. Not because she doesn't love kids, she says she loves them. Because it would be selfish to have them.

Rachel Ray explained that she works very long hours, her work is very demanding, she is focused on her career and she can barely give her dogs any attention much less a child. I'm a big advocate of getting a dog before having a baby. If you can't even deal with a dog's needs and the kind of lifestyle where you can't leave your house for more than eight hours without making arrangements for the dog, then rethink kids. Good for her.

Not knowing exactly what was meant by they are not allowed to have an opinion it's hard to debate the issue. But, I don't think it's Kate's place to tell them that no matter what it was about. The talent may think they are the big man on campus but they are just another member of production. There are a lot of other people on set each with important jobs and it's really more the director who gets to boss the crew around not the talent. Kate's idea of how it should be, she the star making demands, is juvenile, and not how it works.

However what we have heard about crew members like Jenn Stocks backing out because they were uncomfortable, I think we can guess what that work environment was like.

That attitude spoke loud and clear on DWTS, in her disregard for the timing necessary for hair and makeup in the production of a live show. Combine zero talent with a bad attitude, and you can't really expect the offers to come pouring in. If she had had at least a passable personality, she could have had so much mor opportunity. Which, she would have blown, of course. Like anyone who comes into the spotlight due to an unusual circumstance--like HOM or huge scrotums--you have to earn your right to stay there.

Diva stars are really just a cliche. You can only get away with that if you are really, really talented. Like Striesand or Celine Dion caliber. Kate Gosselin, no. If you're just a replaceable B or D lister then if you're a problem on set you're not going to get many offers.

It's been widely reported that Katherine Heigel is a nightmare on set and she quickly faded from top billing even though there's nothing wrong with her acting skills. I have to think that is directly related to her reputation. She was good but not good enough to put up with.

Since they are selling advertising, I guess it's their responsibility to advertisers to do things this way.

Several years ago I had a northwest garden show film a segment in my backyard. We had put in a waterfall when waterfalls were popular. When the segment aired it ran about 12-14 minutes. The crew was in my backyard for 3 1/2 hours.

The crew, all strangers to me, were professional. They wiped their shoes when they came in the house to use the bathroom. They were respectful to me and my home. If they didn't like my backyard or home, they kept their opinions to themselves. They went about their jobs with little fuss. The producer was very kind and whenever the crew needed something the crew asked the producer who asked me.

They didn't become family or friends. They were there to do a job, did it and went on to the next one.

Granted, it was a one time shoot unlike Kate's which went on for years. I bring up my experience to show that my experience was the crew had a job to do period. And they did it well.

Yes there seemed to be a level of disrespect toward her.

There was an email between Kate and a producer in Robert's book. I Think it was Jenn but it doesn't matter because the point is it shows there was tension between Kate and the producers and disrespect toward them.

If I recall in the emails Kate was complaining about advance notice or something. Jenn, or a producer replied, if I'm remembering this correctly, that they had bent over backwards to accommodate the family's schedule and that weeks ago she had emailed Kate asking for her schedule but never got a reply.

It sounds like Kate wanted things the way she wanted them but wasn't wiling to do simple things to help Jenn accommodate her like email her back when Jenn asks her for information Jenn needs. I'm with Jenn on this one--this is a collaboration, not a dictatorship. And guess what when you're in this particular business you are frequently asked to do things that interfere with the schedule you would prefer. You do them anyway or get out. Narcissist missed her child's high school graduation. I find that despicable, but that's what you sign up for when your life revolves around sticking your mug out there as often as possible. There will always be some family reason you can't take this or that offer but say no too often and there might not be another one. Don't like it don't be in this particular business.

Kate Gosselin, hilariously, has even commanded that Dovolani enter through the basement door, rather than the front entrance, like hired help or some servant.

We can see that too. Bet she also did that to Jon Gosselin.

http://youtu.be/cS4f6wiQJh4

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is a very sweet video of a young family who drove 4 hours to see if they just had a chance to see Secretariat. The owner told him he had to have an appointment and he said he didn't know. He had his video camera with him, this was in 1989.
He told them to go around where the cemetery was and he could video things like that then later told him some of the guys were coming up the road and he told them to take the family up there so they could see the horse. They had a son and 2 daughters. They were there for a while and the trainer walked up with Secretariat 3 feet away from them. He had severe hoof disease and was having trouble walking much less running. But at the last of the video, he let him run and it was stunning, the music. wow. And the owner gave the young daughter a gift. A piece of braided hair from Secretariat! What a keepsake. I hope she still has it today. Would love to see on Antique Roadshow just to see how valuable it is. The appraisers would be going nuts!
lukebandit, that is a local story and it's controversial. People posted about his wedding registry and then started a go fund me site without his permission. His registry is all bought out and they have raised $30,000 for this young man whose only statement came through his parents' answering machine, saying they wanted their privacy and to please pray for the victims.
He did a wonderful thing, saving many lives. He didn't ask for this attention and is probably traumatized. Now someone started a go fund me site for one of the victims and it's raised 10% of what this one is at - and no doubt the parents of the deceased could use help coming from South Korea and preparing to bury him. Many are saying they'd be embarrassed by something like that and I agree, especially after looking at his wedding registry and seeing it is full of $10-30 items. He seems like a humble kid who would not want to profit from the death of one person and the injuries of two others. I could be wrong. Maybe he'll be thrilled with this financial head start at the beginning of his marriage and career.
I understand people want to do something to show appreciation, but there are real victims here too. There would be more if he hadn't stepped in, but it's a little creepy that people are lifting his photos and starting things in his name without knowing if he'd be OK with it. In fact, the go fund me thing was started by a reporter and she said she doesn't have their contact information and will take the site down if he asks her to.
It's kind of weird here in Seattle - with THAT part of the story. Add the Casey Kasem mess and it's been quite a week!
Katie just tweeted Teri Irwin that if she sees this to tell Jane Goodall that she is Alexis' hero and that they missed her when she was in PA recently. Like somebody of Ms. Goodall's stature would really look for the animal abuser Kate Gosselin. I guess Kate could not find her way to Penn State last March.
And when she says to Ter Irwin, "if you see this....". I thought they BFFs forever.
I'm sure Ms. Goohall would be so eager to meet a woman who lets her dogs run around on a country road for HOURS because they are too afraid to enter back into the property due to the pain of their shock collars.
Oh wait, that's right, Robert Hoffman was fortunately there to witness Kate driving away from her escaped and wandering dogs, after seeing them clearly from her SUV, and call Jon to find out how to get them to safety and wait while Kate jaunted about town for hours.
This is too funny for words. I sometimes wonder if the fans are really stupid, or if it's just an act to bait the haters. Then I think that the latter couldn't be the case because they're not bright enough to be able to act stupid.
Let's see. How has Kate "lasted?" Her first cookbook never saw the light of day; her clothing line was dumped; Twist of Kate never made it off the ground, and neither did the pilot with Paula; Kate was so horrible on DWTS that a judge said she's never seen anyone with so little self-awareness; the cruise never left the port; she was fired from CC for not being authentic and fitting in; her gig at the Stir was short-lived; her recent cookbook was a flop; her TLC show was cancelled, she filed lawsuits that were dropped, and who knows now much of an a$$ she made of herself on CA?
The only thing that's "lasted" is that she has been, and consistently continues to be, a miserable shrew. She has that down to perfection and has been very successful in burning bridges and alienating family and friends. I'll give her that.
I can't believe kate would even try to drag Ms. Goodall into her black hole of mental instability. A highly distinguished, highly respected anthropologist. Can't believe kate couldn't take the time out like someone said, take the kids to dinner and go to see her about a minutes drive from the kids school.
To have someone of that caliber practically in your backyard and not even try to take your daughter and other children to see and even get to meet is unconscionable. Especially such a great role model for young girls and boys. Is it because she is not a golden child?
She gets dumber and dumber by the minute.
Sooo, Jane Goodall was in TFW's backyard giving a speech on Friday 4/18. By that time the kids had visited TFW in NYC the previous weekend, TFW had already been fired from CA so she had plenty of time to get back home and prep for Easter and still take her daughter to see her hero at F&M College.
What excuse did TFW give Alexis that she couldn't take her to see Jane? Was Alexis even aware that Ms. Goodall was in town? Was the tweet to Terri self serving w/Alexis having no clue about any of the goings on? I know where I'm placing my bets.
Being very familiar with the Cowsill story, and that was a GREAT quote, BTW, I can tell you that the Cowsill father was Kate in a uniform. The children were made to perform anad keep the father in a very desirable lifestyle. Even the mother was forced to perform. Like Jon, she was manipulated into going along with the program. Thank goodness the Cowsills, as adults, had the strength to come out and tell the truth about their physically and mentally abusive father. As adults they were left with nothing, all the money was gone, and for all the years those kids worked to please their father, they received no payment and no future.
This documentary is riveting, and whether you were fans of the Cowsills growing up or not, it reminded so SO MUCH of the Gosselin children in about 10 years.
I believe the poster was comparing Kate to Bud Cowsill, not Jon.
Yep. And they don't see the irony in demanding people "site" their source for dropping the lolawsuit yet where do they cite THEIR source for a settlement?? Lol.
It always amazes me how perfectly willing they are to libel someone. Accusing anyone of settling when they did not settle is libelous. Settlements imply a lot of things even if that is not the case. It can imply that Jon/Robert didn't have an open and shut case and took the "safe" way out by settling. If it didn't happen and in fact the other person just outright dropped the suit because it was no merits, most people would be annoyed to have it put out there they "settled" with this person.
One thing I admire about Jane Goodall is her ability to handle her haters.
Jane Goodall has haters you ask? :) Apparently she never went to regular undergrad college, after working for a time in Africa someone arranged for her to skip all that and just get her PhD. People say her methods aren't always scientific.
She just says with a polite smile well they are welcome to try to do it better. And she's not being snarky, it's like she actually would like to see others get involved and collaborate.
She didn't get defensive, she didn't deny the criticism, she was respectful of it, acknowledged it, and responded to it like an adult.
I'm glad Alexis admires her. She needs more women like this.
I think this is how narcissists relate to children because they don't relate to people normally. So they have to categorize them into groups and labels. They don't understand their kids as people, but they are able to grasp the "stuff" that their kids do or are into. I have never really heard Kate describe their personalities in any in depth way that makes much sense to me. I have said for a long time I actually don't feel like I know who these kids are at all because Kate's never told us. This is unintentionally a good thing.
I don't think you would usually hear a narcissist say my Johnny is such a compassionate, deep thinker of a child. It's amazing the conversations we have, can you believe he said this the other day. Instead you hear, my Johnny plays guitar well and can draw amazing cartoons. I like hearing the songs he writes. He gets good grades.
If you think about it that is a huge difference in how you are relating to your child. Johnny the person versus what Johnny can "do," or his output. And the problem is when all you relate to is the child's output, the child starts to feel pressure to continue or even increase that output. If their interests become something where there isn't a lot of physical "output", for instance an interest in reading classic novels, you might lose your mother's attention and ability to relate to you.
On another note it is very common for little girls to be into animals, want to be a vet, etc. Horses are a very common interest as well. Few still want to be a vet by the time they are ready for college. But if that's what she wants now it should be supported. I think Kate thinks this is really who she is and not just a childhood fantasy. I'm not sure but if i were a betting woman I'd bet this is just a phase.
Re your comments, Admin (#99)...having a narcissistic parent means jumping through hoop after hoop. I can see it might be very likely for one of the 8 to be good at and/or passionate about something, receive
praise for it, and then latch on to it as a source of good attention
from their mother. So even if it would've been "just a phase" in a
healthy household, it might not be in the child's best interest to
outgrow it.
I think the "labels" given to each of the 8 during the show's opening credits could be one of the cruelest elements to this whole sad
saga. Their own parents (and yes, I'm holding Jon accountable,
too) reduced their personalities into soundbites, in a show that
was watched by millions of people. For all the snark and silliness
we indulge in around here, that truly makes my heart break for
these children, and the emotional turmoil they've lived through, and
the struggles I fear they will face in the future.
I used to think you could just be free of your narcissist once you turn 18 and that some day the kids could shed all this crap and it was going to be so much better.
I was very wrong about that.
That may be true for those who make the decision to estrange them. For those who don't it just continues into adulthood. Only now your narcissist wrecks havoc on your spouse, children, career, finances and ability to have a normal and healthy adulthood. The only way out is estrangement, but even that is not always a desirable choice because then you won't have a mother and grandmother at all. Deciding which is worse must be difficult.
Yes, I think you'd have to be tough as nails to make that decision, but like the narcissist you have to decide what's best for you.
There again it would depend on how much strength you have left to do it after the narcissist has leeched the life out of you.
You just have to laugh at Ziggy. I know I do!
And then there's that CJ person, still claiming that the cartoon of Kate on a stick is a death threat. But the person who was depicted as spearing Kate with that stick was Milo. So, if CJ believes that it was a death threat, then CJ must believe that Milo is capable of killing Kate. Okaaayyy.
~~~~~~~~
Thank you very much for clarifying your intention for the quote, Dee. I do agree that it applies to TCFW. I was focused on your comment ''exact quote'' and the quote was about the male parent. You will get no argument from me about TCFW being ''the puppeteer''.

''Never, never did I say that the quote was meant to interpret Jon as a father. Never. You are doing that. Of course I meant it as a reference to the way kate parents the eight. I have already posted earlier it was taken the wrong way. I guess I need to post that again.

Dee, your clarification was not published when my comments were posted. Sometimes the lag time between commenting and having the comment appear on the blog leads to misunderstanding...and this is one of those times.

Once again, I will tell you that I agree with your equating the quote to TCFW and not Jon, and look forward to more comments from you.

Just a thought here, but remember a couple months ago when Robert posted a photo of the crown, no explanation, and we wondered what that was all about? Perhaps that is the day he got the go-ahead to publish again. (I'm just speculating here) At that time, Kate was working on CA, and he might have thought it was a good time to publish, right when Kate was going to be back on TV. But now, with the two-part special, the timing is even better!

@TLC @Kateplusmy8 I can't wait, we need those kids back on TV.

-----
-----

Need? No, sheep. You need food, water, air and shelter for survival. You don't NEED kids on television. You just have to bang your head on the wall, probably more than once. What in the heck is wrong with these people? It's like they think of these kids as a circus act. You just have to wonder if it's because they are really stupid, just naive, totally lacking any critical thinking ability whatsoever, are a few bricks short of a full load, or have no experience whatsoever in childhood development. It's sad, really, but if they are youngsters, hopefully in time they'll be able to look back and evaluate these things differently.

Then again, there are adult sheeple who are intellectually on the Middle School level and want the kids on television for their own amusement. For them, there's just no "getting it" -- now or ever.

It just dawned on me. The fans (all 6) were hootin' and hollerin' for more, more, more of the Gosselin family, and now their wish is
coming true with this 2-part special. But the family they're going to see is not what they were clamoring for. The "lightning in a bottle" Gosselins - 2 little girls, 6 toddlers, and 2 harried parents -- does
not exist anymore. And never will again.

I think the fans would much prefer a 2-part special comprised of unaired footage of the Gosselins as they were. I'm afraid they're
going to be disappointed with Gosselins 2.0 -- a botoxed Kendra wannabe barking orders at surly teens and timid 10-year-olds in a mansion with 2 dishwashers, 2 sets of washers and dryers, and
3 cars in the garage. No longer relatable = no longer successful.
For all her masterminding, I truly don't think TFW understood that
kicking her husband to the curb, and embracing the diva lifestyle,
would be the death knell of her "career."

Also, I forgot to credit my FB friend to what she said about Secretariat in my post. She said the full quote:

For some reason, whether it be sub-intelligence, no logical thinking ability, lack of facts, whatever, there is no way that anyone can tell them that Jon has a job, and if Kate wanted child support, it's up to HER to go back to court, ask for it, show proof that she needs it, and let the court handle it. The words ungrateful and demanding come to mind. Narcissists always think they "should get exactly what they want," and in the peak of her fame, it probably worked.

The interesting part is when TFW demanded the "filming crew" stop pretending to film, and start helping with packing, lugging suitcases, etc,,,,, to her van. I'm sure this was not part of their job description, but the witch could not contain her miserable self and demanded they do HER part, as she was clearly spoiled and thought that was their job. The recent episode of the Derrick proposing to Jill Duggar brought in a little over 3 million viewers. I only hope TLC doesn't go back to weekly filming the Gosselins when they are all dating and getting married. I know not all the eight would want that but my guess is probably at least half of them would like it. If it happens, I only hope the great majority of the TLC paycheck would go towards the kids. Give Kate a much, much lesser amount than her eight say like 10% at the most.

#99 Re: Narcissism

I always thought Kate forced these "personalities" and labels to each of the kids for her brand. They're like characters for her fans. The "smallest one," the "one that likes reptiles," the "one with the glasses." She's been forcing those 1 dimension caricatures on those kids since they were toddlers when the producers would ask questions about each of their personalities and who they were. The problem is, they're not characters. They're real people with developing personalities that could outgrow things they liked when they were very little. Too bad Kate is insisting they stay stuck in the past.

Tracy Thoms did an interview with People about her appearing on Catfish.

http://www.people.com/article/catfish-sneak-peek-tracie-thoms

One of the questions:

What do you hope viewers of this episode, especially fans, take away?

I've had experience with people online who want me to give them a certain amount of attention in a certain kind of way. Not only can we not always do it, but sometimes we're just afraid to do it and the fans can take that personally. It's really not personal. That distance between a fan and the person they admire is not personal.

I also would love fans to know that they don't have to do anything like this to get attention. It's probably not the attention they want.

--------

Funny, I don't remember Tracy in The Devil Wears Prada, but I do remember her from Rent and Cold Case.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 160

Tracy Thoms was Anne Hathaway's friend in the Prada movie. The one that sort of called her out when she was getting sucked into the high class lifestyle, if I recall.

The way they told the story Tracy was pretty interactive with this fan and really started to care for her. That's why I find it so similar to Kate, because I think they were admitting she encouraged this fan just as much as Kate encourages some of her more crazy ones.

Not only was this a good lesson for this catfishing fan but I think it was a good lesson for Tracy on boundaries. We've been saying forever boundaries are very important with fans and this is exactly the result we had warned about when you don't make that a priority. I think Tracy was of the mindset she is still trying to really "make" it and needs and depends on the fans. I think that might be part of her own insecurities. Tracy was a very lovely woman though and obviously has a huge heart.

It also amazes me that they can't trust the courts to recognize extortion when they see it. Or for that mater a not-a-secret child support deal. Gimme a break.

There are a few sad examples of shady dealings now and again but in general a court of law would be a difficult place to extort, blackmail or otherwise engage in illegal activities. It's not the movies and this stuff is not a regular occurrence.

Take food out of their mouths? Geez. I wonder if they ever watched Kate giving the kids one piece of cheese, one chip, and one grape on a plate! The Valentine's Day breakfast with half a scrambled egg, one tiny muffin and one piece of bacon was a classic example of NOT putting food into their mouths.
I'm betting the kids eat very well when they're with their father. He's not a food-depriver nor would he suggest putting the kids to bed without supper.

I think that if you are on the fringe of fame you are probably more vulnerable because you don't have the best reps or PR people.

The internet has completely changed marketing--just look at all of the teenage "demos" for makeup, hair care products etc. Some of them have launched very successful websites, and are paid for their endorsements. The beauty of it is that it seems completely innocent--just someone who loves a product and wants to tell everyone about it. Most people probably don't realize how much of that is paid advertising.

it confirms our fears are legitimate when things don't pass the smell test with some of TFW's fans. Here's the thing - the people you'd never suspect are the ones you need to suspect, because that's how they win your trust, and then gradually infiltrate your life. The internet is not even 20 years old yet, but its dark underbelly is being exposed in situations like this.

Look at this Blankinship guy, whose job it was to edit hours and hours of footage of small children, who were often partially underdressed,

Yes indeed. She had a Milo-type fan, a middle aged woman as I recall, who was her "#1 fan." I think she even had her doing the books or something, and didn't this fan embezzle money. Selena finds out about it, says she is going to the cops, the fan begs to meet with her to explain, and Selena goes alone to meet with her and gets killed. I noticed the second time I saw the clip that her face demeanor when she said it was not that famous scowling face she is so good at when she is being negative. I think she was about to say something positive like maybe "real exciting"or "great things planed". Kate just interrupted her and that is why she said "you never trust me". I think it was going to be something good and that is why she didn't think she was doing/saying anything wrong. Because she DOES have so many tantrums she is not left with getting the benefit of the doubt or opportunity to chime in with her opinion. Seriously though, go back and watch it again and pay close attention to her face and tone of voice. No snootiness there, from what I saw anyway. If that was the case, I totally get why M stormed of and said what she said.

Still though, Kate should have never handled it the way she did. I tend to think she was just waiting for the chance to show the world why the kids have phones and that she punishes her teens like any other teen mom does, so keep your opinions to yourselves. After all, "they are factless opinions" but have a nice day anyway.

I really think that they don't bother to check it out. They just like contradict what the sheeple have tweeted. Alimony is alive and well in PA. It never left. I think that maybe some are confused because no partner is "entitled" to alimony, but it's left up to the courts. In some cases, it's spousal support and is just used as a financial patch to help one of the spouses. It depends, though, on the court's decision...alimony may be temporary or long term.

This is a good explanation of how alimony works in PA. I can't imagine, after all of this time, that Jon would ask for alimony or that it would be awarded to him. What Radar's sources have suggested is a bribe. They wouldn't get away with it. Courts are too smart, especially now that it's been put out in the open!

Lanc Native . . . 180

I don't know specifics about PA divorce law, but would it even be possible for Jon to petition for alimony from Kate after he's been divorced from her for 5+ YEARS and never had it to begin with? That just makes NO kind of sense to me. Which is why I think it is complete BS.

Maybe someone can arrange for Jane Goodall's chimps to translate this highly complex info about the special to the fans.

I'm in the middle of watching the Tracie episode of "Catfish" on DVR,
and I am beyond creeped out! If Steve was a security person worth
his salt, he'd sit TFW down and confiscate her tweeting phone until
she watches this episode. Of course TFW might just say, "You never
trust me!" and clomp away...

Man alive. Even the chimps could figure this one out. This is so hard for them. It's amazing. And funny.

admin, it's hysterical, and it just continues. Initially they had problems figuring out the date; then it was the special vs. regular episodes; and now it's one hour, two hours, two separate shows or what.

I think that if I were that dumb, I wouldn't put it out there on Twitter for everyone to see!

Someone should tweet that it's actually three specials consisting of a half hour each, minus commercials, at 8 p.m., 10 p.m. and midnight with two specials on the same day, and one special a week later.
Watch them run around in circles trying to figure it out.

Also if you notice, when Maddy begins to talk, she kind of sit up straight and slightly forward just as she was interrupted. It looked to me like she had more to add and her face right then seems to be even some what joyful, like she had something good to say along with "no, no fun things......". Bam, Kate interrupts and sends her off.

An example of the trust thing. "I didn't do anything wrong. You never trust me" (my own hypothetical of what may have come next except she was cut off) I wasn't going to say anything bad.

The other thing about this is so what if you mix up the dates, who cares if you miss it. It's a stupid update schedule and if you miss it it's not that big of a deal. They're just so concerned and it's so not important at all.

The fastest way to "lose" your teenager is to "pre-punish" them, like what we think Kate did here.

It looks like she took the phone as a preemptive measure and if so the "you never trust me" comment makes perfect sense.

She's not two. All this kind of stupid parenting will do is irritate Mady. It's a set up. Get her worked up, then when she blows say see told you you'd blow, see, that's why I took your phone.

Narcissists are very deranged sometimes.

I think Kreider "ruined her dramatic silence" in that clip. M had something witty to say and she got sent out of the room. That's why M said, "You don't trust me." IMO of course.

Good grief!! These people beg the question, "How many Kate fans does it take to screw in a light bulb?"
