I'm glad they are showing those "special day" episodes. Viewers will see that Jon went to each and everyone one of his children's special days and was supportive of each and every one of his children. But Kate found an excuse to skip out on the boys' special days. ALL THREE OF THEM.

I already knew then something was very screwed up about her and her sons, but that series of episodes really sealed the deal.

AuntieAnn said... 2

And remember how pissy Kate was when Jon made the Korean dinner? She bitched and complained all through the show until he finally fed the ogre.

hehe. I'm starting to believe TLC is putting her out to pasture for good after this special airs.

Millicent said... 3

Any normal parent ought to see very clearly that TFW doesn't really like her own sons, and can barely tolerate her daughters most of the time. TFW is sadly a perfect example of how you take sweet, adorable, loving children and turn them into shrieking, screaming, spitting, hitting, "chaos-inducing" children. I hope the viewer numbers are lousy. (I know I won't be watching because it will only make my blood pressure rise.)

JoyinVirginia said... 4

Hooray, new post! Thanks admin!
For anyone new reading here, handy list of acronyms follows!
TFW = the former wife = TCFW = the crazy former wife = TFMJG = the former Mrs Jon Gosselin = Ms Kreider (maiden name) = Kate Kreider = Katie Irene Kreider = WOS = Waste of Space ( what TFMJG called the Grand Canyon, here the phrase has been repurposed, we support recycling!)
Rat Claws = Purse Boy = Booby Guard = Steve Nield
The Orphanage = the palatial home of TFMJG and crew
Hope this list is useful! I am sure others will add their favorites.
Oops, forgot one! TLC = the Lying Channel.

My cable(Verizon) guide for the 19th doesn't list the J&K+8 repeats. It lists repeats of other shows, then the Honey Boo Boo marathon starting at 2 pm.

Locatetv.com and tvguide.com also don't show the marathon, it shows the same as my cable guide. although they both have the HBB marathon listed. The only place I saw the marathon listed was on TLC's site.

Did TLC forget to send out a memo that their schedule changed to include the J&K+8 marathon?

I know capecodmama was the first to mention anything about the marathon and said she saw it in her cable guide. Maybe TLC only sent the memo to one cable provider.

Carole said... 6

Do you think there was a reason to not air the old shows in chronological order or were they just lazy or do they think no one would notice? Seems confusing to me to have the years/ages/celebrations jump around. SMH at myself - why do I care - I won't be watching and don't care if the sheeple are more confuzled than usual. LOL

Carole said... 7

I think the sheeple's speculation about Jon splitting any profit from Robert's book is laughable. Mostly because IMO Robert's publication and legal expenses far outweigh any money he'll see from book sales plus I don't believe Jon had anything to do with collaborating on book. I don't think Robert ever did this for the money anyway.

Carole said... 8

I've got Time Warner Cable and my listings for Thurs 6/19 show a HBB marathon from 2pm until their new episode at 9pm, then TFW at 10 w/only 1 repeat at 12am (in the past it would run numerous times).

AuntieAnn said... 9

At least they're mercifully not showing the constipation episode. It would be nice to think it's to save that child from the embarrassment of it, no matter how well it demonstrates Kate's choice to neglect him in order to satisfy her greediness. TLC however, is just as guilty for filming the whole horrible ordeal in the first place.

Vanessa said... 10

Too bad gumgate wasn't on the list. Would love the "newbies" that are checking your site have the pleasure of that little diddy.

From the other thread: about HBB. At least June & Hbb are, about as honest in reality TV as one can get, besides the Little Coupl and maybe the Duggars. They are one of the realist of reality shows, on TV. And the antics & way they live is who they are, and they don't give a shit what anyone else thinks. Unlike Kate, who is living in LALA land, and thinks she is super mom and always right, even when she is wrong and will never apologize or admit to it. K8 is staged & scripted. That is why when Hbb let one go, it's very natural, and either people laugh or they go oh man are you a stinker. Kate would have had a hissy fit, etc. JMO

Pss: I will not be watching the JK8 marathon, I got better things to do.
And you guys are right, TLC is down playing her and running these episodes to show how stage & scripted the show was and how bad Kate was.

I know there are lots of "Seinfeld" fan here. Remember when Elaine revealed to Jerry that she was faking her, um, enjoyment of their
intimacy? He was incredulous, and proceeded to name 4 different
occasions, to which she responded, "Fake...fake...fake...fake."

That's how I felt when I just read these episode synopses of the
old "J&K+8" episodes. Christmas traditions? Fake - it wasn't
even filmed on Christmas. Zoo trip? Fake - the rain ruined one
shoot, so it was redone. J&K "decided" to show them the NICU?
Fake - TLC planned it as an episode. Several times in the couch
sessions, J&K would even blatantly say, "It was decided that
we'd --" whatever.

That lineup reads like a "Worst Of TFW" marathon to me. There's
bound to be a handful of fans who will be watching, for the first time,
poor little A on his 4th birthday moaning, "I don't get my cupcake?"
And maybe, just mybe, one or two will sheepishly admit, "Wow,
that's harsh."

I watched Mama june on Wendy the other day and I must say I was quite impressed. She said that she NEVER allows her kids to miss school for filming and that they all have trust funds set up. She said she doesn't do like most reality stars have done and let the money go to their heads. I think this woman is quite aware of the fact that fame is fleeting and the money train will eventually stop and she is making sure she saves now for the rainy day she knows is coming.

PatK said... 16

I have to wonder if TLC & Kate have negotiated future options for more update shows, such as turning 13 and sweet sixteen. My money's on Kate hoping that TLC will still be interested and help to fund college or showcase and pay for weddings and births, like they do for the Duggar family.

Keep dreaming, Kate and sheepies. Keep dreaming.

Too bad Kate couldn't have finagled a CWS with June. That would be interesting.

As an aside, if TFW gained two hundred pounds she'd pass for Mama June's twin. They have the same facial features.

I wonder whether TFW is irked that TLC is running a marathon of Jon and Kate Plus Eight instead of Kate Plus Eight? I'll bet she'll be in front of the TV all day long, watching each and every episode, and it must annoy her mightily to see the man she tried to erase from her life (and her children's lives).

And yet Honey Boo Boo and Mama June have been making the rounds of several different shows recently. The opportunities are out there, it's just that Kate's not the one gettng those opportunities. Just wondering....what episode do you all out there think showed Kate at her very worst? My vote, when they were on that boat out in the everglades all standing at the front of the boat and the alligator popped up from the water and kate shrieked and ran to the back , WITH HER BACK TURNED TO HER CHILDREN AND GETTING BEHIND THEM, leaving her little ones to be potentially attacked by the alligator...it always bothered me, because as a mother myself my instinct would be to put myself between my children and a predator, not use my children as a shield.

I agree Terri. The lack of formal education, poor grammar, personal appearance, habits, and their 'humor' overshadow what an astute woman Mama June really is. She's pretty realistic about their future. I think she recognizes her limitations and is doing her best so they don't fall into the same traps that claimed so many other reality families.

How many thousands of times can she say these things before people just start laughing at her? Whats even funnier is "they" keep giving her the opportunity to torture us with that same old broken record.

There are so many of them, but the "constipation" episode and the "vomiting on the boat" episode really showed how Kate does not do "everything for her kids".

Especially in the "vomiting" episode, when she thought it was so funny that her kids were sick. She should have told the crew that they needed to stop filming right then and there, but no, she continued to let them film her sick children.

The ultimate episode for me had nothing to do with the kids directly. It was the episode where she mocked Jon for wanting to keep some mementos of his father. I wish I could find a clip. I'm not a sentimental person, but that was beyond the pale for how nasty a person she can be.

PJ

P.S. My sister bought season 4? (Hawiian wedding) at the dollar store and gave it to me for Christmas as a gag. It's still in its original packaging and we sneak it into each other's gifts on every occasion we can think of. Neither one of us can bear to open it.

With no "K+8" episodes airing in between the old episodes and the
special, the contrast is going to be even more startling between the sweatpants-wearing, short-haired, fresh-faced mom, and the wannabe starlet who's "de-aged" through a laundry list of cosmetic procedures she denies having. Anyone who hasn't followed this transformation, and who only watched those very early episodes, will likely be shocked by this "new and improved" woman, and wonder if they've accidentally tuned into the "Real Housewives of Pennsylvania."

There are many awful episodes to choose from but I always go back to the beds episode where Collin wasn't feeling well. It showed that she was willing to put filming and freebies even over her child who was suffering. It showed how truly sociopathic she is. Everything else since has just been a continuation of that episode. It's symbolic of this whole mess. Fame and money before the kids, always.

If a settlement agreement exists, Kate could march down to court and use it to put an injunction on Robert's book. She could have done that the second he announced his intention to publish again. An injunction would stop this book from ever being published. If she waits until after it is published, then it's too late. Copies will have been sold, and she failed to have the first one recalled. It wil be no different with this one. Waiting to sue until after publication is like closing the barn doors after the horses have already escaped. Does she really want both books out there? She'd stop this one if she could.

The lilt at the end is not really regional IMO. It's nationwide especially among young people. That may be why it grates because it makes her sound juvenile.

If you ask a Brit what an American accent sounds like they tell you every sentence sounds like a question. It can't be that all Brits have only heard Pennsylvanians speak! In any case of she wants to be tv ready there's all kinds of problems with her speech she's obviously made no effort to change. Laziness pure and simple.

Like others who have posted above, I have Dish Network and according to my DVR and TV guide search -- yesterday and just now after reading this thread -- there are *NO* J&K+8 or K+8 shows listed on Thursday, June 19th.

The only episode that is going to be shown according to the TV Guide is the K+8 six pack turns 10 to be shown here in California at 7 pm and again at 9 pm (so if you live on the east coast it will be shown at 10 pm and 12 am). There will be repeats of this episode next Tuesday at 6 pm and 10 pm PST (9 pm and 1 am EST).

I think the Toys R Us episode shows the real shrew Kate, but in terms of the kids only, Crayola, Cupgakegate or the one where they couldn't roll down a hill due to grass stains. There were a few choice moments in each and how regimented she ruled her 'queendom" and wouldn't allow the children to have fun.

********
So many, but the puke fest stands out in my mind.
At this point, I have to wonder if Kate, "Ms. Organization", purposefully did not prepare.
On the one hand, if she didn't prepare, then her facade of being in control and always prepared is bullshit.
On the other, and I think this very possible, she went on that boat and if all hell broke loose, then better tv.
I know it sounds awful, but after all this time, I think Kate very well might have thrown caution to the wind, and not had anything on hand that any sane and psychologically normal mother would; towels, change of clothing, anti-nausea meds, ginger ale, crackers etc.

Nothing. She had not one thing- and look how well that worked out for her!
We have a highlight reel!
We have a tag line!
We have chaos to prove just how crazy Kate's life is!
We have Kate and her tits bouncing on a boat!
Screeching!
And by screeching, I mean Kate.

Kate could have and should have turned that boat around when 6/7 kids got sick. But, she had to get herself "fishing" and "oh, gee, we didn't catch anything. Guess I have to go to the market to buy fish so someone else can cook it for my family".
I mean, really, does anyone think Kate was going to haul fresh catch into the docks and put up with gutting and scaling and breaking the fish down (or probably not breaking it down).

There was no fresh catch. Never, ever was. So, there was no reason to go 3 miles out into the ocean for dinner.
It was never supposed to happen anyway.

IMHO the tides turned when someone at TLC had the brilliant(!?!) idea to have Kate and her 8 go camping with the Sarah Palin and her family.

Unfortunately I will never know if the person who thought to blend these two TLC shows together did it because they seriously thought it would be "ratings gold" or if they knew that "Kate would be Kate" and it would be good watching.

In any case, I believe this episode where Kate was not a happy camper was the beginning of the end of Kate+8.

All I know for sure is that Kate and her kids had a once in a lifetime opportunity to go camping in Alaska -- with the Palins no less -- and yet because Kate was not the stah because there were too many people around, and because her kids were having a good time even in the rain, all Kate did was to complain to the point that they left after just a couple of hours.

The kicker is, IIRC, the temperature in Alaska on the rainy day was 50 degrees. Kate lives in PA ... so 50 to her would be considered "warm" but for me it would be cold to the point that I would need a coat. Oh wait ... Kate had a coat on and yet she still had to bitch how cold she was ...

MickeyMcKean said... 50

Re Kate on GMA this Thursday morning ~

I am not surprised that Kate was not invited back to TODAY after the disaster of her last visit with the twins and her snapping her fingers to get them to talk (I'm sure NBC got a lot of complaints, not to mention all the Internet buzz).

So Kate will be on GMA ... but will she be on any of the celebrity news shows? I'm pretty sure she will not be on Access Hollywood since IIRC it was the show where 3 or 4 people dissected her behavior on the Today show. I still remember laughing when someone said something like, "she snapped her fingers at her kids ... I don't even snap my fingers at my dog!"

Very interesting. Your explanation shows that she CAN stop the book, am I correct? So then what's the theory on why she hasn't done this?
Your last sentence "She'd stop this if she could" is confusing to me.

By far the worst moment for me was Gumgate. She was on the verge of an implosion--the rage was just at the surface. For people who haven't seen someone "go off "first hand, what you saw left with your jaws on the floor. It's what happened either when the camera guys left, or they very well may have seen it (and filmed it)That scene was not the end of it. No way, no how. When they're in that moment, there is NO calming them. It's like they have to barf and spew and breathe fire..and then when it's all over, SHE feels fine. Everyone else? not so much

It can't be that all Brits have only heard Pennsylvanians speak! In any case of she wants to be tv ready there's all kinds of problems with her speech she's obviously made no effort to change. Laziness pure and simple.

___________

Maybe she doesn't know that she's doing it, although I can't imagine that somebody wouldn't have told her. Or perhaps she does know it, and is so dang stubborn that she won't work on it. With her speech pattern, and all of the um's, it's clear that she never bothered to take a course in effective communication. You'd think that when she found out that she knew she was going to be a featured speaker at various places and be interviewed on television that this is the first thing she would have worked on.

My major was speech and communication and I knew that eventually I might also get into speech pathology. I had to listen to my voice on tape over and over again, trying to lose that lilt on the end words and rearranging sentence structure. No question that I did speak with a solid Pennsylvania Dutch accent. It's not easy to correct, but it can be done. It could be worse, though. At least she didn't call him CHon (Jon). "Jug" is pronounced "CHuck."

I do love the local accent. A few weeks ago I was at an outdoor market, and the tourist couple ahead of me buying produce couldn't figure out what the Mennonite vendor was saying. I had to translate, and the husband thanked me and asked, "Does everyone here speak that way?" We had a brief conversation, and I had to laugh to myself because they had the thickest Brooklyn accent I ever heard.

"Unfortunately I will never know if the person who thought to blend these two TLC shows together did it because they seriously thought it would be "ratings gold" or if they knew that "Kate would be Kate" and it would be good watching."

I just want to add that whoever at TLC came up with the idea to blend these two shows together -- especially since it was absolutely cost effective with K+8 already in Alaska filming -- that I truly hope that this person received a promotion and a rai$e since ultimately it got the G8 off the air.

***************************************************************************
Other than the kids being deprived a good time (they're used to it, trust me) I actually enjoyed seeing tfw uncomfortable and not in "control" She was intimidated and scared that she couldn't run THIS show. she was being upstaged (like with Jodi) but couldn't go full throttle with her rage in the Governor's presence. She was SQUIRMING and I loved it.

Another contrast - watching those 3 sweet little boys having a blast
with their daddy, and then seeing them again at 10, with (in my
opinion from what I've read) their spirits broken. They are "the
boys." Their sweetness or intelligence or wit are never fodder
for TFW's "twittersodes." Maybe it's a blessing in disguise -
flying under the radar may be what gives them the privacy they
deserve. Their sisters aren't as lucky.

For someone who didn't want to go "hither, thither and yon" to be
a part of her son's special days, TFW sure did get around when it
was for something that mattered to her.

At this point, I have to wonder if Kate, "Ms. Organization", purposefully did not prepare.
47

Kate NEVER prepared ice cream drip at Disney/. " She' ruined!"
Crayola Factory without smocks - never mind the markers were washable.
Spike heels in NYC in the summer- check.
And every time they went somewhere as a family "Jon, go back and get whatever FOR ME."
I could go on and on.

The worst episode for me was when "C" was constipated and he was crying and wanted his mommy to help him. She was chewing her gum at a hundred miles an hour, staring at the flyer, and had a look on her face like she just didn't care!

Didn't she also tell Jon to get him away from her?
I always wondered why they just didn't turn off the cameras , help him, and turn them back on.

TLC and Kate really did make a very good couple. Perfect match!

June 17, 2014 at 12:07 PM
******************************************************************

Very interesting. Your explanation shows that she CAN stop the book, am I correct? So then what's the theory on why she hasn't done this?
Your last sentence "She'd stop this if she could" is confusing to me.
*****
Vanessa -- I think what Layla meant was IF the sheeple were correct and Kate and Robert had signed a settlement agreement in order for Kate to drop her lawsuit, then she could file for an injunction to stop him from publishing a revised book this time around.

The fact that Kate has not (to our knowledge) filed any such injunction would seem to indicate that there was no settlement agreement, and the sheeple are wrong (again, as per usual).

If the sheeple wanted to argue that Kate is merely waiting until the book is published and put up for sale in order to file her injunction, Layla points out that's like closing the barn door after the horse is already loose. The damage would already be done, the book already sold to any number of people, etc.

Too many "worst" episodes to just pick one:

Putting Joel on the laundry room floor when he was sick with the flu, and then leaving and shutting him in there all alone, just because she was more concerned about a stupid comforter than her own son.

Gumgate - what wickedness shone through that day!

Telling Joel that he could not help with the flag cake because he was a boy, and basically telling him to get lost. Bitch, please.

The one where she ignored Colin in his very clear distress and need, because she was looking over catalogs for new (free!) beds.

The stupid episode filmed with the guys from Orange County Chopper, and Kate flying down the driveway on the pink scooter. And then hanging out with Mikey at the spa. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

++++++++++++++++++++++

Fifty degrees in PA to me is not warm. I wear a jacket when it's that chilly. If it's rainy and there's a wind, it can be downright cold. That said, she has managed, in the past, to have birthday pool parties when the temps have been in the high 40s and low 50s. and nobody in their right mind would be swimming. She is such a conundrum of inconsistencies.

As an old lady here, I just want to throw in that the speech pattern you might be referring to was called Valley Girl talk, and included at least one "like" in every sentence if not more. It started in the 80's which fits with Kate's development level of being stuck at age 13/14 years old and trying to recreate her early teenage years. Every summer when we went to PA to visit relatives, there would always be at least one day where us Californians would be in sweatshirts and long pants where the rest of our family who were locals would be running around in shorts and tank tops.

Decades ago we came to the conclusion that blood is thicker on the east side of the Mississippi.

Now for a chuckle which I forgot about until I read your post ~~ when my aunt would see us bundled up she would ask, "are you'uns chilly?" and we would say, "are we having chili for dinner?"

In other words, hearing the word "chilly/chili" had different meanings depending on whether or not you lived on the east or west coast.

Kate has the typical PA Dutch accent. I'm not sure if that's similar to Valley Girl talk, but she can easily be recognized as being from around here. Her pronunciation of words clearly is that of your garden variety PA Dutch speech. Does she throw in the "like" in every sentence? I never noticed that...just that so many of her sentences have the intonation at the end of the sentence that makes it sound like she's asking a question. I think why people think Kate's more Valley than PA Dutch-Girl is that the uptalk at the end of her sentences appeared about the same time as her new bra.

Every word sounds like there's a W in it somewhere. It's a charming down home accent as accents go and very distinct. Jon still has it. She does not.

Around about the boob job she adopted valley girl speak. I really don't recognize her accent now as a PA one but rather a CA teenager one. I've never heard anyone in pa speak like that.

Rather it's how folks in Kendra's circle talk with a bit of a Philly twist. Any which way you slice it it's terribly grating and neither PA nor CA.

That means the special for me will air at 7pm. Gosh I hope none of the sheeple are on the West Coast, then they'll really never find this show.

Not sure why other DirectTV folks are having differing schedules, odd.

-----
-----

Right, admin. It's been this way since the specials were announced. They couldn't figure out if these were new shows, a new series, a new series of episodes, or what they are. The few of them who realized it's a special, then were confused if it's one special or two. Then there's the problem of when and what time the specials air.

If these people are employed, you just have to wonder how they manage to stay employed.

"An investment in knowledge" - Gladys says TFW sees the importance of this for her kids. Would that be from the "Full House" reruns, or was
it that 4th showing of "Princess Diaries 2?" That compliment is based
on nothing but a fantasy of who Gladys wants her heroine to be.

Tucker, I agree with you that TFMJG engineered most of the drama for the vomit-fest episode. She's a NURSE, for heaven's sake. She knew that some of the kids were prone to motion sickness. And she didn't think to give them Dramamine, bring a change of clothing, etc.? I don't have kids, but I never took one of my cats to a cat show without a fully stocked first aid kit for cats and humans.

I can't choose just one worst episode. There are too many. At the top of my list, though, would have to be Gumgate, Joelgate, Vomit-fest (I didn't watch this episode, but I did look at the Youtube clip of the boat ride), Colin's distress, and Cupcakegate. A lot of other episodes were pretty bad, though. I sure won't be watching the special, but I'm really looking forward to Admin's recaps.

I checked the cable listings for the areas around here. They all list the mini-marathon (Time Warner, ATT U-verse, Insight, and Comcast) online, but the print schedule doesn't have it listed. Those print schedules are made up several weeks in advance, so it would appear that TLC didn't decide to do the mini-marathon until the last minute.

Mary Ann said... 123

Layla said... 124

Millicent (64),
Thank you for explaining! You said it much better than I did. I did mean that IF this imaginary settlement agreement existed, then Kate could stop the book from ever seeing the light of day. Nobody would ever know what's in it. But waiting until after publication and then suing? In that scenario, the damage would already be done.
Her inability to stop publication is a clear indicator that the alleged "settlement agreement" does not exist.

Everyone has mentioned memorable episodes but the one that really pissed me off was when they went to get the dogs.
First off, she was dressed in heels. WTF?
Secondly, she had gone on and on about how she didn't really think it a great idea but it was 'for the kids'.
And then, she starts in with the squeally, squeaky 'mine, mine, mine' BS.
Again I say, WTF?

Westcoastie (#123), I agree the dog episode was particularly bad.
A low point for me was TFW describing her first conversation
with the breeder, and how he was talking, but she wasn't even
paying attention. Who admits things like that? Did she think it was
cute or funny, that she thought this person was boring, or beneath
her, or somehow not worthy of her oh-so-valuable time?

Then to top off all her embarrassing behavior, when the kids
thanked her for getting them the dogs, she sniffed, "You're not welcome!"

Mary Ann -- Gumgate was infamous. The tups were 3. They were at Aunt Jodi's. She asked them if they were allowed to chew gum and they said yes. Well, TFMJG had given them gum to chew when they flew, so they weren't lying. One of the kids got a bit of gum on a sock and Collin got a speck of gum on his lovey bear. TFMJG pulled a major freak-out and started screaming and ranting and got in Collin's face and told him she was going to throw his bear out. The poor kid freaked and was nearly hysterical. Mady, who was only about 7 at the time, was defending him and trying to protect him from TFMJG. It was all just really upsetting and disgusting. All over a tiny bit of gum. TFMJG also got on the phone and was yelling at Jodi about being so irresponsible as to give gum to a 3 year old.

fidosmommy said... 139

The Korean meal episode did it for me. Jon tried so hard to prepare a special meal for his family and all Kate could do was moan and complain that she couldn't slap together half sandwiches RIGHT NOW with him in the kitchen. That was my breaking point with her.

Captain of the Titanic said... 140

There are so many episodes with Kate showing her disdain for her children, but for me, the worst will always be the special that showed her freaking out when one of the tups was probably no more than a month old and had had a major blowout in his/her diaper. I was appalled to see her lift that infant up by the hand and with no support for the head whatsoever! Now a picture of that on Robert's book would have some impact.

That scene must have been swiffered by TLC because I've never been able to find it on youtube and a similar situation was shown not too long ago but that scene wasn't in it, besides the children were a little older now that I think of it, so probably filmed some months later.

Susie Cincinnati said... 141

Back on January 9, Robert answered this question on his blog:

Q: Did you agree to any kind of settlement in exchange for the lawsuit against you being dropped?

A: No. No chance at all of that happening. I was very disappointed that we didn't get to the discovery phase and get the opportunity to get all of the facts out in the open for the public to see once and for all. Hopefully the coming lawsuit will be different.

Q: Did they try to get you to settle?

A: Yes they did.

Beyond the shadow of a doubt, I would believe him rather than taking the word of airhead sheeple running around claiming that there was a settlement, Do they even know what a "settlement" is? They never could understand the meaning of "dismissed without prejudice." Heck, they didn't even know what a "pleading" was.

PatK said... 142

Wow, it seems like the sheeple are really testy on Kate's TL now. They were expecting nothing but happy, happy, joy, joy these past few weeks leading up to the update episodes, but Robert's re-release of the book seems to have them very unnerved and foaming at the mouth.

I guess the fear of the truth spreading to a bigger audience this time around has really bunched up some panties. When added to the fact that this is out of the control of their so-called "knight in shining armor" who was supposed to help quash this book (AND get them those vacation homes), I guess some flared tempers are understandable.

Bubbles said... 143

I haven't read through the comments so forgive me if this has been posted, but I love it that TLC decided to air episodes of JON & Kate + 8 rather than some of the Kate + 8 episodes. I bet she is FURIOUS about that!

save the 8 said... 144

In regards to which episodes are being broadcast before the 'Special' airs later in the evening, it's great that Jon is featured prominently in all of them.

The only problem with this, however, is that if the Birthday Cupcake ep. is shown, Jon is complicit in the refusal of said birthday cupcakes to his son(s). So, that may counter any *warm and fuzzy* feelings the audience may have had for him.

Hopefully, none of these episodes include the mocking of the children by not only Kate, but Jon as well. I cant remember offhand which episodes he joined Kate in making fun of his kids and I sincerely hope those episodes aren't included with the chosen ones to be aired again.

Kate was an awful mother and spouse (and general human being) in those old episodes but today?? She comes across much more 'hard', cold and either emotionless or just plain angry under the surface.

I simply can't imagine any reason whatsoever she thought that doing an update special was a good idea. I mean, LOOK at those kids in the preview! they're downcast, looking afraid (perhaps sullen) and there's NO joy radiating from them. They appear lifeless, almost.

What a mess.

**********************************************************************************
I think they go back and forth, these narcs, between psychosis and delusion. Depends on what external factors are at play and what they're hoping the outcome will be. The diary for example shows she really thought what she was doing was "ok", but that she would go too far one time, there was a smidgen of awareness, of "remorse" -delusional.
The lawsuit, the "one flew over the cuckoo's nest" spiel about buying them ipads just to punish (that look on her face said it all), the pacing and mumbling under the tent in Alaska-psychotic.

Lol, when Kate dropped Jon's suit it was dropped with predjudice. Again, this was learned from documents straight from PACER. One of the BV minions flat out said that Kate did no such thing. Really? No such thing when it was on the document a judge signed off on?

Heh, heh.. he also said that Kate dropping both suits was" all going to plan," and that Jon was going to testify against Robert during Kate's future lawsuit against Robert for copyright infringment. That statement is further proof that there was no "settlement." Why would Robert pay Kate off to settle, let the suit be dropped w/o predjudice so she can sue him again on those allegations, and also make no agreement that she can't bring further suits upon him!! Silliness!

I think the answer to this is simple. TLC understands what the real hook of the show is just like we understand it. It was not the cute kids. It was not Kate. It was not Jon. It was not Pennsylvania. It was not the trips. It was the dynamic between Kate and Jon. The Lucy and Ricky.

At the end of the day they're going to show the episodes that have that hook. It matters not to them that Kate hates Jon and would prefer TLC pretend he never even existed. And it matters not that they spent significant resources helping Kate make out like a bandit in family law court and bury Jon's reputation in the public eye. The bottom line is what are the best episodes to show on Thursday.

Kate is the sheeple's queen. She's not TLC's queen.

They've twisted themselves into a pretzel to try to explain how these two men settled with Kate. They want so badly to make it seem like these two men realized Kate was right and bowed down to her demands with a quickie settlement. When the reality is the most logical explanation is that once these two men hired attorneys who were actually serious, Kate realized she couldn't push them around with a SLAPP suit any more and ran away like a little girl. This is what bullies do. They will push you to the point they realize oh crap you can't be pushed, then they will skip town like a coward pretending it never even happened. Kate to a T.

Worst episode with Kate? Hmmm, that's a tough one because she has given us so many to choose from. The worst episode in public I think is the Toys R Us episode. She was so incredibly ignorant and rude, and advertised it throughout the store during Christmas shopping season.

For episodes with her poor treatment of the kids, there are equally as many, but the ones that stand out for me was the poor little one being constipated while all Kate worried about was picking out the matching beds, the episode where Joel (I think) was sick and vomiting and she laid him on the laundry room floor so he didn't vomit on her precious material things. And last but not least, the episode where she was going to throw away one of the boys' stuffed animal because it had gum on it, and the little one cried so hard that I couldn't bear to watch anymore.

What a vile woman she is.

Exactly what happened. This is a common tactic for the bottom feeders in our legal system. A form of legal terrorism where you throw around big and powerful lawsuits and hope the other side gets scared and caves. It's a shady, low down technique without any class, honor, or ethics.

I think she truly thought it would work. I don't think she ever even considered it wouldn't work. There was no plan B in her mind. This is the mind of a narcissist. Plan A is the plan and Plan A will work. So the only plan B she came up with on short notice was to run, Forrest, run.

I thought the common practice was to not offer residuals. However if you are savvy enough to demand it I'm sure there are contracts that will offer it. For instance I imagine the Kardashians are getting their residuals.

I don't think they got residuals in the beginning but I think they were smart enough to demand them in later years. Even so though, they can't be making that much. TLC never airs the episodes. It's been ages. I suppose they would get a little from Netflix but it's obviously not enough to give Jon much of a posh lifestyle so I doubt it's much.

Actually maybe THAT'S why they're only showing old stuff? Pre-residual episodes? That would be so low of them but I wouldn't put it past them whatsoever.

I think it depends on your provider whether they put you on the East Coast feed or the West Coast feed. I prefer the East Coast feed myself because I'm usually too tired to get into the good shows at 9 or 10 o'clock at night. It's fun to get a lot of the good prime time stuff at 6 or 7 p.m. But it's not much matter anyway since I almost always watch DVR when it's convenient for me.

In any case add three different time zones to the mix and I don't think the flock is ever going to be able to find the update special. I picture them wandering around the field under the stars, baaa-ing in confusion.

I really do understand why a family like this might miss out on residuals and other things they should have gotten. I understand how a contract would screw them over. You're making 35,000 a year and some well known cable company comes along and offers you 4,000 an EPISODE or whatever it was. To them it must have felt like raining down manna. They weren't thinking about June 2014 when TLC would re-run a bunch of episodes and they would want their cut. No way were they thinking about that. They were thinking about the here and now. Six babies with tremendous financial needs. And here was their answer. You take the money and run. You don't start trying to open up some big contract negotiation with a big company for something that is unlikely to happen anyway (even though they hit the lottery and it did). You would fear that if you stick lawyers on them and tough negotiations, TLC would say fine there's plenty of other multiples out there good luck to you. I GET IT.

I am a big believer in personal responsibility but at the same time this is too much of an unbalanced situation to expect a family like the Gosselins to be on top of it. There is an easy way to solve this problem. I think lawyers should be required for reality show contestants, to be provided by the company. However, not the company's lawyer. An independent third party. That way TLC would have no choice but to consult with lawyers for each and every family they sign up. There would be no fear on the family's part that if they stick lawyers on them and demand a fair contract, TLC will just go after some other family that doesn't have lawyers. Everyone would have lawyers.

You have to also remember that TLC owns the rights to J&K+8 and K+8 which is why she had to name her twitter & website K+MY8. I'm guessing if they get any residuals at all they're not amounting to much and they're only for the latter J&K+8/K+8 shows and I'm sure Jon would be entitled to a cut of the J&K+8. Rumor has it that when you sell your soul to the devil you reap what you sow. Suck it Kate!

capecodmama said... 177

I have comcast and it lists J&K+8 starting at 6am and running until 2pm when HBB starts.

lukebandit said... 178

don't recall these 2 scenes, but I do remember Jon taking one of the tups out of the BBB by lifting her up by her wrist/hand. She's just dangling there. How can you manhandle kids ( babies really) that way? See Sheeple? I criticized Jon even though I like him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
IIRC, isn't that during the opening of a show? Jon getting the tup girl out of the van one handed? and music playing? Didn't she have on a dark navy sweater and jeans and smiling? Wouldn't it be Amazing if they show the Cupcake episode when they went to Jon and kate on the couch saying the boys didn't remember the next day about the cupcakes and only show KATE saying that and doing those stupid noises!!!
I would of PAID TLC to do that! If I had the money...sigh!
What would she do if they did that? Sue them? hahahahaha!
I did hit publish before I was done with my thought. When I said you reap what you sow I was talking about TFW and her throwing her marriage and everything else to the curb all for the sake of fame. I'm sure she negotiated a much better deal for K+8, so TLC not showing any of those episodes is exactly what she deserves.
Carole said... 180
I wonder if tfw AND Jon will get paid residuals from the marathon? "rumor" has it they never did negotiate payment for reruns in their contract.
Reality show participants are paid once for each episode. Reruns are not compensated. They're not SAG members and don't qualify for the standard residuals and benefits. We even saw one of their contracts and there was no mention of residuals. Bravo housewives don't get paid for reruns, neither to MTV or VH1 or Food Network, or TLC show participants. Not paying residuals is another reason reality tv is so cheap to produce.
Carole said... 181
Didn't Jon say they didn't even get a cut of the DVDs?
Yep. They did't get a cent from the DVDs or the t-shirts, mugs, or anything TLC sold with their likenesses or slogans. Compared to truly scripted tv like dramas or comedies, reality tv is cheap for networks to make and they reaps huge profits from the shows. Unless you're popular enough and are producers in more than name only like the Kardashians or are bulldog enough to negotiate a special contract, as a reality tv participant you're nothing more than an employee with no benefits.
As everyone has mentioned, it's hard to choose which episode or situation showed Kate at her worst. I do think her bad behavior progressed every episode. By the time the show became Kate Plus 8, every single moment she was on screen was horrifying, down to the interviews. She got worse as her fame and celebrity grew, even if it was only in her mind.
Kate Plus 8 is when she went over the edge. Does TLC hate her? You betcha. I've worked in TV, and though this moment doesn't involve the kids, it shows Kate's lost grip on reality: When they were packing for the RV trip and she turned to the PAs and crew and said that it was time to stop "playing 'we're filming a TV show'" and for them to help her pack the RV. The fact that TLC aired her saying that is very telling. They aired a lot of moments those last few episodes I don't think we ever would've seen in the earlier days. She bit the hand that fed her...and her kids.
As I tried to think of her worst moments, I also tried to think of some good ones. She wasn't so bad in the two original specials. Knowing what I do now, I can look back and say, "Why was she in bed so late? If she was doing it alone, why were instructions posted everywhere?" But actually watching it, she comes across as sympathetic and (HA!) sincere. Once it became a series, there is not one--not a single episode--where Kate DOESN'T do something questionable, scary, mean, over the line/top etc. Not one.
Bingo. Kate went on a fishing expedition. She took a gamble that neither Robert or Jon would defend. When they did, she nonsuited real quick. This is SLAPP. This is an abuse of our legal system and more states need to enact anti-SLAPP laws to deter this.
BINGO is right, and who lead TFW down the rabbit hole looking for incriminating evidence and wanting to punish everyone who crossed her? BV. His suits are the same type of fishing expeditions and when comparing hers against his in TX you see a lot of similarities. It wasn't a coincidence she happened to have an attorney associated w/him when she sued Jon and Robert.
Maybe a dumb question...
So Penn. does NOT have anti SLAPP laws? Do lawyers take cases in states where there ARE these laws in place? Also, has this BV idiot filed claims IN states where these laws exist? What happens if you do make a SLAPP suit, why does it go so far, aren't you breaking the law? How can you prove that it was frivolous? In tfw's delusional demented mind, SHE feels she's right.
If netflix is or was paying Jon & Kate for re-runs I guess they got tired of it cause they got rid of her ass and K+8 and most of J+k8
I don't think-(IMO) J&k were smart enough to ask for re-run pay or extra pay like merchandise or dvd sale.
And it's not like TLC would offer it I mean come on the company isn't really one with morals.
There are so many episodes with Kate showing her disdain for her children, but for me, the worst will always be the special that showed her freaking out when one of the tups was probably no more than a month old and had had a major blowout in his/her diaper.
====
I think those kids all have a conditioned fear response to her voice. How does a baby know when to poop? And what kind of mother gets angry over it? With her short fuse and horrible temper, how they all came out alive is nothing short of a miracle. One quick flash of anger from an adult can be fatal to a child.
In the area where we live, a three-year-old girl died because the woman running the dayhome lost her temper on her and pushed her into a corner for a time-out. The little girl banged her head on the edge of a door when the woman shoved her and she died later that day from the injury.
Oh I agree her lawsuit had BV written all over it. Same MO. Plus what a coincidence she finally files so late JUST when BV shows up. I almost feel sorry for her because I think she was manipulated by that camp into believing an evil conspiracy against her and that the only way out was a massive lawsuit. I think they played her, and it was no matter to them if she fell flat on her face and looked like an idiot because they had a lot more on their plate they could juggle. But this was Kate's only game and she was the one burned. She's stupid for trusting them but they were manipulative of someone clearly not all that bright. She was their puppet plain and simple and when she was of no use to them anymore they cut the strings.
I never thought of that. Brilliant deduction, my dear Dwindle. Of course - Zorro gets a mate. Oh how the kids will shriek and squeal over that one. Kate is the best mommie in the world!!
I'll lose the bet but you're on anyway. Off to get the rumspringa. Woot!
Boy, I bet Kate is PO'd, with TLC for putting the JK8 episodes on instead of the K8. Cause of Jon in them. Kate has been very quiet. I think she is busy doing, 2 things, 1. talking to her lawyer, about putting a stop to Roberts book, 2. trying to get on any talk show/radio show etc, besides GMA.
I also noticed that all the JK8 are from season 3 & 4., When the tups were 3 & 4, at the height of their popularity. When Jon was doing most of the care taking and Kate doing most of the bitching/whining/complaining and crying, about oh how hard she has it, and if you noticed, how she made everything into a CHORE, her kids were a chore, the house was a chore, thinking was a chore, even traveling was a chore, Kate got no joy out of anything, except when her kids were crying, miserable, or she just got through yelling at them and making terrible comments to Jon on everything he does, how he looks, breaths etc. TLC made a good move in putting on the JK8 episodes, this will show how Kate evolved into the monster she is today and how she treated other people, especially Jon. Even if they just ran the K8 episodes, they did not shine a positive light on Kate, for she was at her worsed.
In the new commercial I saw last night, they mentioned the "surprise" and Kate said something like "Oh, God, please let me pull this off!". So it's anyone's guess what the "surprise" will be. Of course, Kate will think it's something wonderful and will expect the usual amount of squealing, shrieking and screaming.
I had TLC on for awhile today to see if they replayed it, but so far they have only replayed the original one. The second commercial I saw also started with a lead-in saying "this moment brought to you by Sonic". Is Sonic one of the sponsors? If so, it's funny that the show would be sponsored by a fast food company.
I feel the same way.
Why are there notes ALL OVER THE ENTIRE HOUSE if Kate did it all alone- or if Jon and Kate did it all alone.
Do you think Jon needed written instructions to make Kate's coffee?
Seriously?
Does anyone need to have written notes to make their significant other a cup of coffee?
No, that's silly.
The instructions were for her help.
But, you notice, even when Kate was sort of sympathetic and likable, she was always filmed alone- the help was either sent away, hidden, or ran out of camera range like the crew et. al. running like cockroaches in daylight when when a camera turned toward them!
And to those of you who mentioned the TFW's freak-out over the
poop explosion...how could she have had 8 children and never faced
this? Answer: because someone else was always handling it. Jon,
the nannies, the volunteers -- you can bet if there was anyone else
within earshot, she screamed for them to do it.
Same with the comforter poor J threw up on, and TFW moaned about
"vomit laundry." First of all, dude, seriously? Your child is burning
up with fever and somehow your'e the victim? But also, that may
very well have been the first time in her life TFW was washing any
bedding that'd been thrown up on. The cameras were rolling - what
choice did she have? She couldn't say, "Screw it -- I'll ball it up and
save it for our laundry helper, Miss Beverly, like usual. We love her,
because she loves us. And besides, we sang her a carol last Christmas, so she owes us!"
I disagree, Admin. (respectfully, of course) I think she blew a gasket when they couldn't provide credible evidence like they promised and she kicked them to the curb. They milked any "celebrity" they could find and would have continued to use her. I think they continued the harassment of the "haterz" trying to bring her back on board. When she found out they couldn't help her and she had no choice but to drop the suits she blamed it all on them. She was likely told that neither Jon nor Robert would show up and she'd win by default. Yup, they suckered her, but I believe she distanced herself. Her name is still being bandied about in some circles with regard to other potential lawsuits. Not that I think they'll amount to anything, but hey, you never know.
I checked on Amazon again today, but no book by Robert Hoffman is scheduled as coming out this month. I live nearly 3 hours away from a city that has a book store, I buy all of my books on Amazon for Kindle.
Anyone find out where the book is selling at yet? And if it was coming to Amazon, would it not be listed already?
On the Kate plus 8 FB page, they a post which says:
"It's spring break in the Gosselin house, and Kate has some tricks up her sleeve to keep the kids entertained!"
The post includes the following photo which shows the kids in a small John Deere tractor. In the photo, some of the kids are in short sleeves and two of the girls are in sleeveless tops.
It's so obvious this wasn't filmed during spring break, since that was in the beginning of March.
Here's the picture:
