TLC announces Kate Plus 8 will return in December

TLC posted the following press release on their site:
You watched Kate Gosselin plan the sextuplets' 10th birthday bash in June (and have an epic meltdown) and now you can follow your favorite oversized family on their summer vacation and into the new school year. "Kate Plus Eight" will return to TLC in December with all-new episodes! This time around, Kate and her eight growing kids will travel to Boston and explore different parts of New England on a family vacation.
You'll also see the kids rounding out the final days of summer with fun activities, while Kate preps the household for another school year. Teenagers Cara and Mady start 8th grade, and the sextuplets you know and love -- Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel -- are beginning 4th grade. We can't wait to see the kids prepare for pencils, books and maybe even teachers' dirty looks, while balancing their time between friends and siblings. And you can be we'll see more classic Kate moments and funny banter from the outspoken kids.

As far as Steve and Kate's relationship goes, I'll always remember either Jamie or Ashley saying "It's always about him!", during the RV episodes, which was later edited out

The way Kate acted about the "pizza" and Steve, to me showed there was more than a bodyguard/client relationship between those two.

I will always love Anderson Cooper for this clip.

Gypsy should use her own timeline to promote herself, but then she has only 64 followers. What better way to get attention than to post on Kate's timeline with over 213 K followers?

Yet she sees nothing wrong with it. She's making it appear as if Kate endorses her products. I wonder if Kate will actually wake up and realize she's being used.
********
It's BLOOD MONEY!!!

Anyhoo, I'm not surprised that TLC cranked the production machine up for specials of the Gosselins. TLC said they'd be checking in with specials.
I never thought TLC would stop filming them all together, rather, they'd be "checking in", as they do with other families with kids, because kids change.
Kate doesn't change (well, the boobies did), but the kids do and are and will, so expect more specials in the future.

In face, I remember being surprised at Kate making borderline passive aggressive statements/responses about TLC canceling her show, and thought that was biting the hand that fed and would feed her in the future.
Running to People magazine and boohooing about how shocked and surprised she was about the cancelation, and about how she's worried about the future made Kate look like an ingrate of the highest order.
TLC made her a filthy rich woman and instead of being thankful and gracious, Kate was spiteful about TLC daring to cancel the series before she said so.

Tucker's Mom said... 6

Maybe Jamie did stick around longer to help with the "back to school" filming.
PS, Kate's family is hardly oversized. I'm not impressed. Yawn.
Growing up Catholic, try getting 8-10 kids of different ages and different grades ready for school, on a threadbare shoestring of a budget.
I just don't see the appeal, but won't be surprised if a couple million tune in to once again see: Kate making eggs, Kate bitching at the kids, kids hitting and spitting, Mady whining, kids picking out school stuff.
Whatevs.

Was it really edited out?
Wow. There's no other reason to take that out but in response to to the fact that it makes their relationship look obvious.
And it did.

I bet Ashley and Jamie know damn well what's been going on between Kate and Steve for years.
Gawd, how uncomfortabe.

Another tell-tale comment made on the RV episode was from Ash or Jamie, who were left to watch the kids while Kate and Steve were "organic grocery shopping".
One of them said, "they do this all the time, they'll be gone for hours".

They were just resigned to this happening, and seemed happy to have each other to pal around with.

Does anyone else think it's inappropriate for TLC to call the kids "outspoken"?

That's not really a good trait usually, it sounds like a slam and a rather cutting one. This press release makes it clear they know exactly what the draw of the show is, and moreover they're not afraid to emphasize how "funny" it is when the kids aren't being polite. It's not funny.

Ex Nurse said... 9

How fun for the kids, and what great stories they will have to share with their poor friends, who were away traveling, attending stupid family reunions, playing endless sports, attending camps, etc. What 13 year old doesn't want to do school shopping in the middle of the summer and have a film crew document every moment of your life with psycho-mom.

If Mady did happen upon an intimate moment, it would explain why TFW is forever capitulating to her. I look forward to hearing Mady's perspective, especially, And, somehow, I think we will be hearing about it in the next 10 years or so. If not sooner.

Remember when Kate had the African American bodyguard instead of Steve for awhile? That seems to jive with Steve being reassigned. I also believe TLC did not want Kate portrayed as the "other woman" when rumors started up, so Steve brought Gina and sons to visit the McMansion several times and they made sure there were paps taking pictures every time.
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

I agree. Everything about the Radar article made perfect sense, especially about the short time Skeeve was temporarily replaced with the other body guard.

What makes this situation so interesting is that Kate spent the better part of 2009 dabbing at fake tears while fake crying about how she was victim of Jon's adultery. Numerous People articles with Kate patting herself on the back, telling us all how she was the responsible, virtuous parent who put her kids first while Jon was running around and cheating on her. She vehemently (and carefully) condemned the allegations that she was having an affair with Skeeve.

It's 2014 and she's a joke and a hasbeen. No one really would think much of her and Skeeve getting together and going public right now. The real sticky issue will be their faux insistence that they just found love earlier this year, since Kate can't very well be outed for cheating first when she played the wronged and oh so innocent adultery victim for sooooo long. Well... I certainly hope she's outed for the liar and the hypocrite she is. Maybe Gina will give an exclusive to People.

FYI said... 11

" And you can be we'll see more classic Kate moments". Seems like they didn't even care to get anyone to edit their press release. I assume it should read "you can be "sure" we'll see more classic Kate moments.

"Classic Kate moments" to TLC is all the meltdowns, etc. showing Kate in a bad light. That's what they are banking on. People watching to see Kate meltdown, being an idiot, etc. Look how they promoted the special back in June. Their website shows all the "bad" Kate moments.

Kate may think that TLC loves her, but actually they're using her too. Their thinking is that Kate acting like a bitch is what sells and they're going to go with it. Who wants to see "good" Kate? They're banking on that most people want to see Kate being a bitch, and they will play that to the hilt.

Tucker's Mom said... 12

Maybe calling the kids "outspoken" is foreshadowing the new episodes.
Outspoken isn't very complimentary for 10-year olds, and I do agree, btw, that the kids are outspoken.

That was a press release? it's a very dull release. Boy, that certainly did not put K & 8, in any kind of positive light. It pretty much slammed their Teachers(Teachers dirty looks, like the kids teachers & G8 don't get along) and being outspoken, TLC just put the kids in that entitled brat group, of kids they exploit on TV. Perhaps, the kids were not all nice to the film crew/TLC people, for them to call then outspoken? The release is lack lust, so that is all? BORING!

This press release, does one other slam, ready for it Kate: your kids & life is MEDIOCRE/MUNDANE/BORING! Your kids are not special or unique, and most people don't want to see kids act up or fight, while Kate sits/stands there there making faces, thinking that all the moms out there can relate, cause, we all know how teens & pre-teens are/act.

So why wait so long to air? December is a bad time to put any show on, most TV shows are rapping for the Holidays, and Holiday shows are being aired. Most people are getting ready for Xmas/Holidays, there is shopping, so a lot of people won't be home, most people are working(regular job & maybe a second job), and there are the company Xmas parties, and friends parties. Does any seriously think people are going to stay home and watch a self entitled child exploiter, no talent, who wants her mug on TV with her, no special, not cute, entitled/fighting(outspoken) children, and meltdowns, getting free vacation, freebies and same crap they have aired already? Really!

You can tell how protective she is of Steve. It all started with Jamie or Ashley saying, she's bringing it plateless. I wonder if she did that on purpose because she knew kate would go off and wanted people to really see how she really is.

She is terrified of losing that KIWI! Remember when they went to AU and then went to NZ and she got to meet Steve's parents and she gave them a gift of all the kids, her and Steve as a gift, like they were a family. IIRC, the parents were shocked about that.

Turns out the more controversy, the better for Kate. The humiliating TODAY show interview, the rumours about she and Steve, Robert's book, the kids acting out, all ratings gold for TLC. Yes, bring on the dysfunction, and the more the better. She brought in the ratings with the update special, and that's all TLC needed to bring her back.

Tension between Kate and Mady will be promoted, escalated to keep the viewers hooked. Never mind Cara sitting traumatized, having to be drawn in to the sideshow. As far as the behaviour of the sextuplets, again, bring on the bickering, the nastiness, all for public consumption while their mother runs to the bank, money made off their backs.

It's all about money, and Kate lives another day because she brought TLC enough of it to get her back in the fold.

Just stopping by to say (say it with me now) TFMJG is BORING! The children are marginally less boring. it is interesting and fun to see children and teens that you are RELATED TO or know in real life do things, dance recitals or sports or music recitals or school plays. To watch children on TV get school supplies is my definition of so boring its torture.
Why December? TLC will have already rolled out new episodes of their most popular shows in the fall, and the regular series will be on a holiday hiatus, let's fill a few hours with TFMJG, but keep the budget minimal.

I don't put a lot of stock into these TLC teasers. Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part, but it still sounds like it COULD be another special divided into two episodes - vacay and back-to-school.

Maybe Steve will share the couch with Kate, too? If so, I hope he knows how to breathe quietly.

Millicent said... 33

I agree about the wording of this press release. They have decided to try to turn negatives into positives. Come watch Kate have another "epic meltdown!" Oh ha ha, those "outspoken" kids getting dirty looks from their teachers!

Just like with HoneyBooBoo and her family, where they play up how uncouth they are, and the audience is supposed to find this entertaining and "down home" instead of tasteless and tacky. I'm sorry, but when you have a bridal shower and your fiance's mother is there, how about you don't bring out the crude sex toys and talk about how well-endowed your fiance is. Not to mention -- you're being filmed doing so!

So with Kate, the audience is supposed to be entertained watching a grown woman melt down over every little thing. And we're also supposed to be amused at hearing children be bratty and rude, because ...... I don't know why.

Sometimes I feel like networks enjoy making Americans look as bad as possible. Do you ever wonder what people from other countries must think when they view American television. From the Real Housewives franchise, to the Jersey Shore, to the Jerry Springer show, to the 1,000 pound man, to the HoneyBooBoo's and the Duck Dynasty people, to Kate, her married lover and her 8 bratty kids - I wouldn't blame people from other countries from thinking Americans are the tackiest and most shallow of people.

In a way, I hope Steve and Kate really are together --- because eventually she will drive him crazy and he will desert her, taking most of her money. Those two deserve each other. What the kids deserve is to be well away from those two, but unfortunately it looks like they will have to simply wait it out until they reach 18 years old. Maybe with their mother focused on her married lover, they at least get a chance to be ignored. In that household, that counts as a good day.

We can't wait to see the kids prepare for pencils, books and maybe even teachers' dirty looks, while balancing their time between friends and siblings. And you can be we'll see more classic Kate moments and funny banter from the outspoken kids.

Why would Steve have been in the bathroom with Kate? Oh, wait. Bodyguard assignment. You just never know when an intruder is going to show up in your bathroom while you're sitting on the Royal Throne. Steve was there to protect her from a burglar who was out to swipe her Great Northern.

The Gypsi thing. She's an airhead, cute maybe, but a happy airhead and she wouldn't consider that using Kate's TL is tacky. She's clueless and probably doesn't even realize that you don't use another timeline to promote your products.

What do the children have to offer from a viewer's point of view. Nothing. They are simply 8 kids, that's all. None of them have special talents (that I know of).

When kids (talent) move out of the cute stage there has to be something to draw the viewers in the watch. Other than screaming kids and Kate screaming AT the kids, what is there.

I reflect back on the special where Kate was showing her organizing board and the kids were sitting around listening to her. Ho hum. It wasn't like one of the activities involved exploring and learning about bugs, environment, etc. Just selecting a silly game.

Other reality shows involving children Raising Asia (ugh!), Dance Moms (ugh, again), Toddlers and Tiara (triple ugh) all build to a finale. Its always a performance in one form or another. K+8 doesn't have that story arch. Its mundane everyday things (school shopping, ho hum) that doesn't float my boat enough to watch.

Gosselin kids are not special. They are not a draw. I predict people will tune in initially to see how the children have grown, but after that the viewership will spiral downward. This is Kate's last redemption (could resist using that word) with TLC. Besides TLC who wants her? No one.

I agree. I grew up in a large family too and while there was always a bit of a flurry of activity right before school started - it really was not a huge deal. Of course, in those days, we didn't carry backpacks. But my mom would stock up on lined paper, PeeChee folders (remember those?), pencils, pens, etc. We would also get new shoes for the beginning of the school year - that was probably the biggest hurdle. My mother (I nominate her for sainthood!) would take the four youngest of us shopping all together, and of course, we were all picky about the shoes we wanted. She never had a melt down. In fact, she hardly even seemed frazzled although it must have been frustrating trying to please every single one of us. And we all got to pick out different shoes - no matchy matchy.

Who in their right mind would really find anything interesting about watching a mom take her kids shopping for back to school stuff?

One can only hope for the kids' sake that this won't be anything more than a couple of mid-winter specials. TFW has been gone a long time on her "vacation" and I would think there are at least four shows worth of filming already done. You've got one for the drive to Plymouth and the museum tour. She's been in Maine for close to a week so you've got one for the boat ride and one for whatever they've done the rest of the week. Finally they can get the school prep done before and after this trip. TFW tweeted about the flash cards and the shoe chaos. She never cared about the kids' schooling before so you know she was focused on the show.

I really hope filming is set to stop before the kids go back to school. The one thing they don't need in their lives right now is to have production issues hanging over their heads when they should be focusing on their education.

Why are they doing 18 book projects now? School starts next week. If this was assigned by the school as summer homework, Kate had all summer for the kids to get this done.

Imagine the stress the kids are under now. Being filmed for TLC and now rushing to get school projects done.

" funny banter from the outspoken kids."

What does TLC consider "funny banter"? Collin calling one of the girl's hair ugly and then getting a lecture from Kate? Mady telling Kate "no fun things" and getting a lecture from Kate? One of the girls tattling on one of the boys or actually hitting him? The kids calling each other names and putting each other down?

Show the "outspoken" kids and then have the "fans" call them brats, and praise Kate for taking them to task for it. Yeah, that is "must see" TV.

They should call the show "Conflict with Kate and her 8".

What's the matter, Kate? Schoolwork interfering with filming again?

I'll bet they were supposed to be working on these projects all through summer and they didn't because Kate was too busy lounging around the pool or spending time in the bathroom with Skeevo to make sure they were getting it done. Now they're cramming to catch up and she's bitching about it.

My grandkids love reading and never think of it as being "school related". Yes, their school does encourage them to read over the summer, but they don't need any encouragement. They don't consider it "school work", they do it because of their love of books and learning.

Kate makes it seem like, "oh, my poor kids, they have to get this done before school starts". "Bad school! How dare you infringe on my kids' summer!"

Kate makes it seem like reading books is an "extra" burden place on her kids, yet filming them and using them for her own agenda is "good". How dare school interfere with her plans!

Oh bit me Kate! When we were growing up we always had a summer reading list and had to read at least 4-5 books and be prepared to do a book report on at least 3 of them. I don't see any problem with that and maybe that's why I'm a reader now. It didn't interfere with my summer because we always read on the beach, before bed or on a rainy day. It sounds like the kids should have been doing this reading all summer not just the week before school.

As far as the specials go (and I do believe they're only specials) people will tune in to see TFW's bad behavior. TLC can tie it in with their reading. See Kate shriek! Shriek Kate! Shriek!

Three books for ten year olds the entire summer long is more than reasonable. Kids that age should be able to blow through six or seven at least. It's too bad reading is not encouraged and celebrated. This kind of attitude rubs off on kids.

Interesting how she really now has no choice but to try the "shrew mom" and smart-mouthed kids aspect in order to get back on tv, if TLC's lame PR is to be believed.

FlimsyFlamsy said... 93

Excellent life lesson there, TFW - wait until the last minute to get
things done, and then whine about it. While the first part of your
summer was a never-ending slumber party, you could've had the
kids get at least one of the 3 books read. Maybe a second one
read in the BBB (plane?) or hotel between takes during filming.
Then you'd only have that last book to complain and grumble
about. But then that's your MO, isn't it? To complain and
grumble?

And Kate Is A Twit (#72), I've always said what you're saying -

I really think with KatePlus8 she was making $75K per episode, not that crazy $250k figure otherwise how would TLC be making any money off her? Let's see she also made a nice bundle with CA (I forget what they are paid) so she's had a good year so far.

I think Steve was the source for that Radar article. He wants people to believe that she "requested" him and she needs the dough for college. Such BS. Yes Jon has been very clear on numerous occasions that their college funds are well taken care of. He said the same to me as one of my first questions was of course, is their money protected. Who knows about the rest of the money and where all that went, but college was taken care of YEARS ago. I can only imagine what those funds will look like in 2022.

You put 40 grand in a college fund in 2009 and who knows where it will be when these kids are 18. That's more than most people have. FAFSA is very kind to large families too. I went to school in PA, and they also have numerous grants and scholarship opportunities as long as you are a decent student. You don't need a 4.0 for gosh sakes to have a lot of help from both government and private institutions. They are also considered Asian, which may open up a whole other host of financial help for them from various minority groups.

I want to know exactly how many more years the kids will have to work until Kate is satisfied college is covered? How expensive are these colleges anyway? Can't they just go to Penn State?

On a final note, where does it say she has to pay for college for adults? She doesn't. Of course she SHOULD, but not if it means working your children.

It's just a f-ing excuse. It's an excuse and everybody is tired of it. Admit it, you want to film the kids because it's the only way you can play celebrity, period. If she cared sooo flipping much about college and education, she wouldn't out herself as being so negative about a simple, TINY little school project over the summer.

word keeps getting tossed around, and yet all we know about TFW's

away from the Gosselin Family Fun.

It's hard enough to picture TFW helping the twins with their college
applications in 3 short years. But how about assisting 6 at once
in 7 years? We're talking about a woman who had a breakdown
when her toddler dribbled ice cream on her shirt. This will be so
beyond her capacity. But by then, I bet a few will be living full
time with their dad.

For instance, "fewer then three hours grates on me" Is 2 hours and 45 minutes fewer than three hours? It certainly is less! And I would say I have less have 3 children, rather than saying fewer than 3, which is believe is technically correct.

By the way, I have two children, and I believe Milo also claims to have two: a boy who graduated from high school and couldn't get out of there fast enough, and a girl still in high school.

PJ

====

Here's what she said, word for word, on Bethenny:

"The majority of what we made "I" (she emphasizes "I") personally took and put in.. um... a college fund for them because they will go to college. The important things in life... so I use coupons, we don't wear top brands, those things to me aren't overly important but college, school, and their house where they live is important. And I, you know, divorce is divorce, and when you're going through divorce of course a lot of it you're looking back over the years to see in your own mind what went wrong, what happened."

Wow. She took a left at where they live is important and headed straight west into the divorce to divert the money discussion. As if no one would notice, lol.

If TFW is so hot on education/college why is she pissing and moaning about the kids having to read 3 books each? This is something that they probably knew about at the end of the school year and at 10 they should be able to budget their time to get in a little reading every day. They've even got iPads so they should be able to download and read the required books on them. I don't really think that TFW cares if any of them go to college. Who knows if she needs he money but what we do know is that she needs to keep her mug on TV so that she can act like the celebrity she feels she is. #bitemekate

Amber, if you read here why don't you go back and listen to some of the interviews where she's said that they've already got the money for college. If you haven't already done so, call Robert and take a look at what he's offered the press. Call her on her lies.

How can a mother allow a NETWORK to run the narrative about her CHILDREN?? Does she not care about the awful things they, and let's face it, anyone who watches, will say about her CHILDREN?? Where's her motherly instinct?

This is wrong, wrong, wrong.

I really hope Jon is trying to stop this. I mean, the kids had a good chance of a normal life after their show was cancelled 3 years ago.

WHY would any mother feed her kids to the wolves??? UGH

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 132

Most kids haven't supported themselves and their mother for their entire life. I don't think that Jon's kids should have to get student loans because they have been working for all their life and deserve SOMETHING from it.

&&&

I know that and you know that, but the problem is Kate and her sources and camp keep justifying this as "she has to pay for college somehow." That's nonsense and not a good reason to exploit your kids even if you had zero in your college fund (they don't, the funds are very well stocked, according to Jon). I would rather they take loans than be exploited IF the college situation is really that dire. Despite all the bad press lately loans are really not that bad, especially if they go to a state school. In many cases it can make more sense to get a few loans. Their interest rates are rock bottom so you can invest the money you are saving, and there's a sizable tax deduction. It's not the end of the world.

Anonymous said... 133

Let's be honest here - that whole 'need to pay for college' is smokescreen for need to pay the mortgage, the cars, Mommy's lifestyle expenses, etc. College is only on her radar because people expect her to say that. She has made it perfectly clear on more than one occasion that her kids will have to buy their own cars, and she probably thinks that about college. She may have socked $$$ away but every gig she gets is for her current expenses and HER future. Those kids will be on their own come 18.

I thought that TFW spent all of August preparing for back to school. It seems this year that she forgot to put it on her own personal chore chart because she is three weeks behind schedule.

Also the sextuplets are 10 years old and just going into grade four, so they should be able to breeze through any number of books at that reading level without breaking a sweat.

As Flimsy said:." But she is passing her lack of intellectual curiosity

Unfortunately that is very true.

They're also getting old enough to start learning to budget their homework without helicopter Mommy breathing down their necks. They're going to have to figure out how to get their assignments done on their own eventually, might as well start now. I still don't know why Kate is sweating over something that is THEIR assignment, not their mother's.

A ten year old is well capable of saying to himself or herself I'll have one book read in June, one in July, and the last one in August.

And you know what, let the kids not get done with their assignments. How else are they going to learn how to figure this stuff out and be responsible? It's time to grow up. Stop ducking the helicopter blades and just get out from under Mommy. It's time.

It really shouldn't be any skin off Kate's back, Milo. Let them figure this out like millions of other ten year olds are figuring it out.

My mind is fuzzy (happens after too many rumspringas), but I seem to remember a fan who wanted to meet up with Kate, or have her make an appearance (at a craft/scrap booking festival?) and Kate told her that August was out of the question because it took an entire month to get the kids ready to go back to school.

Kate didn't say this is about college funds that we know of. It's Radar's stupid source. Probably Deanna. She doesn't know what she's talking about, and she directly contradicts Kate's own admissions when she blabs to the press to try to build her up. She doesn't exactly do her homework now does she?

I do believe they have substantial college funds, especially since Kate herself admits it and we know how much she hates to agree with Jon. If they're both saying it, I believe it. They have no reason to lie about that.

As for Jon being a liar, as has been said over and over, we have no idea what he has or hasn't done to "fight it." For all we know they've been so quiet because Kate's been fighting him in court all summer until she finally won and started filming at the end of August. You can't prove that didn't happen. Or did. We have NO idea. None.

Yes but regardless after filming all this time any responsible parent should have their funds well covered. Any shortfalls will be well made up in the next years as funds in the proper accounts can and will grow exponentially over such a long period.

Regardless, her college problems are her problems and someday the kids' problems. They will be fine, they'll figure it out. Maybe they'll get smart enough to sue TLC and get it paid for that way. Maybe their father has it well covered as he has assured everyone over and over. In any case, it's not their problem when they are TEN to help her figure out how to build a college fund for them or be WORKING for that purpose. They apparently have some summer projects to get to. I hope the public will continue to turn on her more and more. Her nastiness may bring in the ratings but it will continue to ruin her reputation all the more. And with Robert's book being out in the open and talked about it will only let the public know that she is very capable of abusing her kids and others.

out for themselves? So she's really not a helicopter mom at
all -- she just plays one on Twitter. Anything to garner some
sympathy from her 6 fans.

Speaking of whom...does it bother them just the slightest bit
that TFW didn't even mention her trip? Or the new show?
For pete's sake, TLC already issued a press release -- there's
nothing cloak-and-dagger about it. She can't even fake kindness
and concern about her fans. If she really and truly cared about
them, wouldn't she at least say, hey, guys, we're back from a
family trip, hope you're all having a great summer, we're happy
to have gotten a new show -- something honest. But she's just
so disingenuous. How do the fans reconcile this person who
keeps things from them with the chatty Twitter girlfriend they
claim to know so well?

TLC stinks said... 157

I believe there is money for college, it's just that Kate will never admit that she is the one who wants to be on TV and make big bucks. She would rather manipulate and lie about the real choice she has made. She thinks the public is understanding if a "single" mom with a "deadbeat" dad makes the choice to subject her family to reality TV because she alone (a slam against Jon) has to support her large family (her choice to have multiples).

She is a disturbed person and it pains me that TLC in it's programming continues to air shows with people with mental disorders. You know why people watch their crapola? Because people sit in their living rooms and smugly think that they are happy to not be like the people they are watching or have to put up with people like that. OK, I get that. But what about the children? So TLC is encouraging Kate to have public meltdowns in front of her kids? No wonder the kids are a mess.

As far as this publicity and speculation regarding Steve, that jerk is totally a part of this dysfunction. I think he is just as much a narcissist as Kate. It struck me that this guy has no class either (being rude at the restaurant). He and Kate think they are hot stuff, don't they? What a pair (of what I will not say).

Are the "college" or "education" accounts that Jon and TCFW set up the accounts that Jon said TCFW can't touch for anything else? Or are the accounts something TCFW set up on her own that you know damn well she set it up so that if any of the 8 don't go to college, the money reverts back to her. She's a sly little dirtbag that would make damn sure she set the account up to benefit her if the money isn't used for it's intended purpose. Jon and TCFW could be talking about totally different accounts. Nobody knows. I don't think these kids will be on their own once they turn 18 as the twins will only be starting their senior year in hs and the tups will turn 18 at the end of their jr. year in hs, but once they graduate hs, if any of them don't go to college they will be on their own. TCFW will consider herself done with them.

I myself don't agree that every child should go to college. As long as they have a plan or a trade, they should be able to make the decision not to go. My sil is self-employed in a trade and does very well. But I can see TCFW thinking if any of HER children don't go to college, that's a bad reflection on her. And she'll blame it on Jon because he didn't go. Even though TCFW herself didn't go to college either. I know, I know, she went to a hospital school of nursing but technically she didn't go to college.

I found it curious that Mady had a friend with her. I can see Mady holding TCFW to the fire and letting her know in no uncertain terms she will not be doing anything TCFW wants her to do unless it's on Mady's terms. She knows her mother and I think TCFW is afraid Mady will blow and spill the beans. But what's going to happen when Mady turns 16 or 17 or even sooner and demands something that TCFW can't or won't deliver. That will be interesting.

I wonder if she decides to some day use them in porn, will he go along with that too? Just to add one more speculative thought to the college funds. It has flitted across my mind, on more than one occasion, that Jon may have used his assets from the marriage to set up a college trust. To add to the archives, in the infamous "I despise TFW" interview, Jon responded yes, that the kids money was secured. Jon says he's won some and lost some in family law court. Who even knows what all Kate has asked for that's been shot down. It's not their obligation to tell us that. I wouldn't put it past her to try to cut him off completely.

Even if a new judge came in, it's unlikely they would disrupt the other judge's orders too much. Judges are reluctant to do that, as it undermines their colleague and creates an incentive to judge shop instead of a "one system, one decision" mentality they strive for even if it's not true.

It's not Kate Plus 8 plus Mady's friend. And if she has a friend there, she's calmer and happier, which means less drama and meltdowns and more boring T.V. That's not good for Kate.

But if it's the only way she will cooperate, Kate has no choice. Kate is really in for it now. Now the kids have seen that you can pretty much blackmail her. I am beginning to think that the old and tired "money for college" excuse is really code for "money for private school tuition." As mentioned, Jon and Kate already said the college funds were fully funded. Jon fought for trusts which Kate could not touch. And someone help me out, but those TAP funds opened up for the 8 by the Lt. Gov in 2005- didn't those funds lock in the 2005 tuition rates for any state college? If so, what a savings!

It is so aggravating whenever Kate pulls the college card. She acts as if doing the show is the only single option available to she and the kids, they have no hope for survival without it. Instead of the fluffernutter questions that are lobbed to her during interviews, I wish that someone would stop her right in her tracks, tell her to cut the BS, and ask her how she thinks the Dilley' family has managed to thrive? Mediocre house, non reality show income, 5 of the 6 in college for pre-med, pharmacy, etc. Because what Kate claims to want is successful, college educated kids, right? Ok, the Dilleys have managed to do that without exploiting their children.

All these years, Kate has fought tooth and nail to be portrayed as a wholesome, perfect mother. She went to some dark places to promote this fake image and suppress the truth. Now she's back on tv and is happily allowing TLC to promote her as an unstable, meltdown prone kook. Watch her deal with her "outspoken" kids! WTF.

They're outspoken when they're told to chat it up in front of the camera. This gives Kate an opportunity to step up and show off her mothering skills by reprimanding them for saying such things.

Then later on, Rapunzel can sit sideways on the couch with her knees tucked up under her chin and tell the camera this is what she's up against and it's hard, hard, hard since there are eight of them and only one of her. "Hard" and "difficult" are her two favorite words after "exhausted".

Yes and what also aggravates me is that she acts superior about it. She acts like no other family could possibly be worried about college as much as her. Except there are many large families in the US worried. No journalist every questions her about this and calls her out on how college tuition is a challenge from MOST kids. We are all in the same boat here and many, many kids will enter college without a dime to their name. They don't have worries?? What does it matter how many kids are in the family, my families with only one or two kids have no money for college.

I think it also makes TLC look like chumps. Cheapskates too.

This family has been working for them for 9 years. They had about two and a half years off, but that was it. In 9 years, TLC, which makes millions upon millions, didn't pay them enough to ensure each and every child has a sizable college fund? Come off it.

I'd be flipping insulted if I were TLC. Quite frankly, it's borderline libel to suggest she's this hurting for money and not mention that it's due to her own negligence.

I also don't think she cares one bit about college. Except that she cares about continuing her lifestyle while they are in college and probably won't be able to work for her anymore. THAT's what's scaring her about college, that it will definitely be all over by then and she better be sure she has her own little trust fund for herself to keep this going.

The only good thing to come out of this will be admin's recaps. Sorry, admin, I know you most likely don't want to be reminded about this!

I remember when my youngest was in HS, he came in from school and had a really worried look on his face. I asked him what was wrong and he said he had a huge test the next morning 1st period. He told me he had to learn 50 world capitals for the test! I was like, what? I told him, there was no way the teacher assigned this the night before. I asked him when did she do this.

3 weeks ago. UGH! SO, I got the list and hand wrote out a test and gave it to him to see how much he knew. He got about 2 right. So, we sit down and studied and I made up cute names for the capitals so he could remember them. Like Lima, Peru. There are no Lima Beans in Peru. I know it is not pronounced like Lima Beans, but it is spelled the same. Paris, France. Paris, Paris Hilton in France.

I made up another test, he did much better. Studied more, another handwritten test, I swapped the capitals around. Another test. The last test he did great.

He came back the next afternoon and was so happy! He made an A on it, IIRC, he only missed 1 or 2, I think 2.

She doesn't give a pile of mess about her kids education. My middle ds made good grades, played great football and earned a full-ride scholarship to a D1 college 11 years ago worth over 150K. They paid for everything because they are classed D1, the best.

The thing now is the kids want to go to culinary school and become chefs, which I think is absolutely wonderful. She has plenty of money. She could of hired some responsible people to help shuttle her kids around to practices and games.

How heartbreaking for Jon to have been the goalie for his HS soccer team and win the state championship and possibly not have his own sons on a soccer team that he could coach. Can't believe kate would of just passed on this. This would of been much more interesting than seeing her suit up in that Velcro jumpsuit and see the kids fighting over beta fish.

I'd be flipping insulted if I were TLC. Quite frankly, it's borderline libel to suggest she's this hurting for money and not mention that it's due to her own negligence.
******
Kate and her camp continually going into alarmist mode regarding the college funds and raising of these kids is beyond obnoxious.
The world had changed since J+K decided to put their babies on tv for money 10 years ago. I think American's tolerance for this constant whining and moaning is just about nil.
Anyone with their head not firmly shoved up their ass is aware that Americans are struggling, racial tensions are at an all time high, and p.s. not for nothing, but there are crazy fundamentalists out there that want to kill us.
Kate's notion that people should give a shit that all 8 kids won't have fully funded college funds is ridiculous, and frankly, her crying while living a 1% lifestyle doesn't wash anymore.

It's insulting and out of touch with reality to believe anyone cares anymore.

Much like Katie, I don't think that TLC is capable of embarrassment.

The kids may not all even go to college. Some may want to move out at 16 and get jobs. The first will said they could have their funds at age 30, was it, to be used for college or any other purpose.

Blowing In The Wind said... 188

And someone help me out, but those TAP funds opened up for the 8 by the Lt. Gov in 2005- didn't those funds lock in the 2005 tuition rates for any state college? If so, what a savings!

-----------

Nobody know how much was contributed to those accounts. It could be minimal, or it could be substantial. Of course, she could always put it out there that those accounts are still open, and sheeple are free to contribute! Maybe Gladys will help fund them.

Tucker's Mom said... 189

Frankly, if I had the money to fully fund my kids' college funds, I wouldn't do it 100%, and I wouldn't do it unconditionally.
Sorry, you've got to have some skin in the game.

This goes for the G kids, too, even though they've worked all their lives.
They have to have a little risk to understand what's at stake.

@MY_2BCOLLIES: @PatriciaChow1 @Kateplusmy8 Teachers will recommend holding back for various reasons, premature, emotionally immature, size, etc. Smart!
========
Wow! I didn't know that some of the criteria for holding a child back is size and the fact that they may have been premature. What if the kid is really big for his/her age, do they jump them a couple of grades so the kids are more their size ? What if a kid has a really, really high IQ but is really short for his/her age? What's a teacher to do then!

------------

Don't you know that every school has Marty Moose or Bonzo the Clown at the entrance...like the amusement park rides? You need to be this height for Kindergarten, or you can't be in the class. In order to enter first grade, a kid has to at least reach the bottom of the moose's antlers.

Collie is so dumb that it's not even funny anymore.

@realctucker see you Saturday @BorgataAC where is party afterwards ? Would love to meet you #MyFriendsAreHot #GirlsNightOut

Seems like she's trying to get invited to the headliner's after-show party! LOL! I'm sure the comedian cares if her friends are hot! Geez...

---------------

Now that takes balls. Big ones. Getting yourself invited to a private party. Maybe she's hoping to land a job for her son, as a roadie for the comedian. After that, his financial planner. The kid's gotta start somewhere, and with all of her networking (okay, helicopter parenting), someone is bound to sit up and take notice and hire the young fellow.

Since TLC pays less for the update specials, maybe this how they operate? Cancel and them bring back for lesser pay?

The Radar article translated.

“Kate couldn’t turn it down. She loves doing TV and it’s basically her only source of income,” an insider told Radar.

Kate begged them for 3 years to let her do the show again. She not only refuses to do any work other than reality shows, she refuses to downsize her lifestyle.

“The twins will be going off to college in five years and then she has six more to put through, so she desperately needs these TLC specials.”

Kate just says she does it for college because it sounds good. The kids are all set for college. Kate needs to pay her huge mortgage and for private school tuition for 8 more years.

“Tuition is expensive and Kate is a single mother. She needs an income"

See above. Kate will never, ever work in a non-entertainment business ever again. To do this, she has been willing to make some concessions as far as her former wholesome, perfect image in order to get herself back on tv. Any resistance from the children about filming is ignored. Kate is only concerned with Kate. She is sure that when the kids are sitting in their paid in full college classes, it will make up for the kid beside them YouTubing the vid of them sitting on a potty seat in a driveway. Or when another classmate makes a gif of the tup saying "Hannah pooped in Hannah's unnawares." She hopes that in time, they too come to realize that it's so much easier and more lucrative to make yourself a laughingstock and ridiculed buffoon for the entertainment of others, rather than getting a mediocre job.

That Audi commercial is hilarious :) I do remember Bryan Cranston as Dr. Whatley on Seinfeld and he and Elaine had a short but passionate fling. I want to comment on all the funny things in the commercial, but don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

Back to TFW and her claimed need for the kids to work so they can pay for their college education: If she is serious about wanting her kids to go to college, then we ought to start seeing or hearing about Mady and Cara doing more activities that will help them when they apply for college, such as school sports, trying out for leadership positions on campus, doing community service, doing more during their summers than the alleged sleeping in late and sitting around the pool, etc.

It would also not surprise me to learn that TFW has been dipping into their trust funds. Besides herself, she loves money best.

Circling the drain said... 196

I don't understand how TLC can tolerate to pay this bitch to abuse her kids on camera. Yuck. The one consolation is that college will get them away from her. Regarding the new special...the world is looking at this family through new lenses; it might be a good thing if the goal is to get the kids off tv. Sometimes karma is slow. I see that things are starting to unravel. The money issues, the difficulty in finding work, settling for a married man, the unhsppu kids finding their voices, her alleged alcoholism.... The proverbial mid life crisis combined with alcoholism can result in a spectacular meltdown.

So do I. I know it's fun to snark on Milo and 98% of the time it is well deserved but I thought that remark was a bit much.

No offense Flimsy, really, it's just that when we go overboard on nitpicking, it only reflects badly on us. I think there's more than enough fodder for genuine criticism.

On another note, I am truly appalled that TLC is actually advertising that they brought Steve back because of the controversy. That's disgusting.

So much for class and keeping the best interest of 8 kids in mind.

This poor me I need money for the kids college fund is the church scam all over again. There is money for the kids college but she wants more. And she doesn't want the public to know the truth. When she was scamming the church people, she had millions and was about to close on a mansion.

Same game different goal.

Milo said her "youngest" and "oldest," and in response to that, it was pointed out that Milo, in the past, claimed to have two children. The question was...how many kids does Milo really have, and if she/he is a catfish, maybe, just maybe she/he slipped up and didn't remember how many children he/she claimed to have had.
