I'm re-reading with horror, Robert's account of Shoka and Nala's life as he observed it.
Of course, Robert reported his first-hand account of Shoka and Nala escaping the compound when Kate drove off, and Kate realizing her dogs were loose, running around on the road, almost getting hit several times.
Robert contacted Jon, who told him to remove the shock collars. Nala went back over the fence, but poor Shoka was still too scared to go near the fence, so Robert sat with him for over an hour until Kate came home.
NOW THIS IS THE PART I FORGOT!
Robert reported this and the horrible conditions of their cage confinement to US Weekly and "THE LOCAL RESCUE LEAGUE", ALONG WITH OTHER PEOPLE WITH KNOWLEDGE OF THE SITUATION.
I'd love to know if the ARL has a record of this, or anyone who is aware of this, or worked there at the time.
I can not believe they would allow themselves to be aligned with Kate Gosselin.
She can keep her 30 pieces of silver.
Same goes for Y102 for supporting Kate and selling her ill-gotten wares and choosing the same ARL that she herself was reported to for incidence like the above.
No one ever, ever should knowingly allow their dogs to run around on roads, or be negligent in securing them on the property, and making sure they have proper, clean shelter.
I watched the local news spot (thanks for the link Redbirdsings) and what I took away from it was that the woman from the animal rescue said that they got an email completely "out of the blue". What that tells me is that TFW hasn't donated to them before nor does she volunteer. I still say it's a huge coincidence that she's donating to animal rescue and Jon left a kitten behind that needs to be rescued.
That is appalling and completely illegal. Most states absolutely prohibit a landlord from entering your residence absent absolute utter emergency (like pipes are spraying water everywhere or fire is burning the place down).

In Jon's case, it could be they went in there to see if he had vacated the property. They did have a right to do this, especially if they needed an inspection to see what has to be done to get the place ready for prospective new tenants.
If this was an eviction notice with the date for the eviction, then yes, they may have wanted to make sure he was out, There would have been nothing illegal about it. We just don't know the whole story, and I doubt we'll ever find out. My question is that if this story is true,how long was that kitten in there, and was it left with food and water.

I would definitely check very carefully with your individual state.
If a state prohibits that kind of behavior, it doesn't matter what you or the landlord puts in the contract or agrees to. You can't contract "around" it. People put things that are illegal in contracts from time to time, and it's not okay or legal. As we learn in law school, you can't have a valid contract for murder no matter how many official stamps you put on it!

That's what dog abandonment is, sweetheart.
It's irrelevant to the definition whether the dog ended up in a good home in the end. Abandonment is abandonment. The dog need not end up starved or dead to be considered "abandonment." Same with a child who is abandoned.
Tom Bergeron is on Watch What Happens Live and was just asked if Kate Gosselin was a total bitch when she was on DWTS I heard everyone hated her (it was a Facebook question) Andy Cohen said he heard that and Jenny McCarthy said she heard it too. Tom answered that his interactions with her were always great but "Tony Dovolani did come into my dressing room weeping a few times." (Andy made a comment I didn't catch and everyone was laughing) Jenny turned to Tom and said "Her dancing, was, I mean..." I didn't catch all of what he said but he did use air quotes with the word dancing for her.

I didn't make any comment on whether returning a dog to the breeder was better or worse than allegedly leaving a kitten behind. You imposed that upon my comments.
What I said was, abandonment is abandonment. A dog is a lifetime commitment, and if you exile it from your home, you're abandoning that commitment and abandoning the dog. Same with any living thing including a child. You don't get to have a "break" from a dog no more than you get to just give up your child for a year or two because you need a break.
Obviously if you do choose to give the dog up, you should return it to the breeder, rescue or otherwise find it a good home. But many contracts will require you to do so, so she doesn't get brownie points for following a contract. Besides it was Jon who returned them anyway, we have photo proof of it and Robert discusses them in his books. His reasons may have been wise in that the dogs were severely neglected and even abused, but it doesn't change it for HIM either--he also abandoned them. It is what it is. There may be some better and perhaps even good reasons to abandon your dog and commitment (for instance, a child develops an allergy to the dog), but it's still abandonment. We more or less know what happened with the dogs by Kate's own admission. We haven't the foggiest idea any of the details about the kitten, even Kate herself admits she hasn't a clue what that's about, so this is all so silly to begin with.
In March of 2010, Kate said that she planned on bringing BOTH dogs back. From People magazine:
A lot has changed for the Gosselin family in the past year: divorce, dating, drastic haircuts and, of course, Dancing with the Stars. But one constant is returning to the family's life – German shepherds Shoka and Nala are coming home soon.

I'm with Kate up to this point, although it's revisionist history.
It's not uncommon to have doubts and worries about the enormous decision and task you've taken on with a pet.
The difference is, most people will allow themselves to have these feelings, but will buck up, figure it out, ask for help/training, pay for help, etc.

When my dd was in 2nd grade her dad got a rash and thought it was an allergy to their kitten, so guess who wound up with it. Unfortunately within a few days we realized I WAS severely allgergic to cats. Luckily it turned out HE wasn't allgergic and the cat went back. That's what parents who care more about their kid than they hate each other do.

Obviously Jackie is upset because Kate is a very charitable person because she has donated her time to TWO events and thinks we non-fans are idiots and miserable for judging her. Well, according to Shoka(in his Shoka Diary), one of the "onces" was when he ran away in Feb. 2013. That's when he got "skunked":

The TMZ story about Mama June's 'boyfriend' is deeply disturbing. If he was convicted ten years ago, there is a more than a likely chance that he would have had some sort of contact with Honey Boo Boo's older siblings while "dating" Mama June. Surely a background check shoul have been done before TLC commenced filming this revolting show.

I do have to comment on this. My mom has a shih tzhu (sp?) mix. 15 lb dog. She has managed to break out the wires in her cage door and escape. She only does it when my mom is gone to the store or bingo for a few hours. Separation anxiety. Just saying that some of those metal cages are not made that great and 2 GS could easily do it in a short time too. But I DO believe she left them in there a lot.

Yep, we know far too much to believe she writes checks to charities for any reason except to make herself appear benevolent. She also wrote a check, on camera, because it just has to be on camera, to Second Harvest for $93 X8 to show what a generous soul she is. $744 is a lot if it's coming from a family on an average income but that is definitely not the case with Kate. Her kids have worked since birth to make her a millionaire. $744 is a drop in the bucket to her.

I thought of something. Our cat went missing about the same time our neighbors moved out of their house. We kept thinking the cat would eventually show up. Two weeks after the neighbors moved, a realtor took someone in the house to look at it. Our poor little kitten was inside the house -- hungry, thirsty and nearly dead. No one knew she was in the house when they moved out. This poor little thing somehow found it's way home and we immediately began to rehabilitate her. It was a very sad thing for all of us, but with a thankful end.

I think this Jackie has flipped on Kate because she will be on national TV and may be getting a little extra $$ from TLC. She is being paid to promote the yard sale, i.e. she is promoting the yard sale for TLC so crowds will show up. I bet there will be live interviews too. This is an "event". And it appears we guessed correctly, AGAIN, that this is being filmed. If only someone had the balls to ask Kate hard questions or investigate her. Well, a landlord tenant dispute can often be handled in pro per, so you can avoid the massive attorneys fees. And these landlords are just regular people, not the juggernaut that is Kate with the big-name attorneys she always employs. It's a waste of time to try to fight her without an attorney of similar caliber. It's apples and oranges going up against that borg versus a private person.
And he HAS been to family law court, dozens and dozens of times. I'm not aware of him ever taking a landlord-tenent dispute to court before. He does fight Kate in court. He was just in court last year with Shawn Tuma.
This is just disgusting considering that the father of her children just lost his rental home. She is evil in spirit and is certainly rubbing it in to say the least. Jon was ruined by this woman in more ways than one. She will never give him credit for anything he gave her including the 8 little money makers, etc. Sad, really sad. Whatever happened to donating what you do not need to charity? Selling items that were given to her is just disgusting, selfish, and may I add typical of a "greedy" grifter.

It's not funny that I see. When I made that comment, they were private people who had not said a darn thing about Jon, the situation, or even confirmed they were his landlord. My comment stands in the context that it was given, it's inappropriate to bring that up about PRIVATE people. Moreover, they had the wrong name anyway. It wasn't even the landlords in question.
Not a day later, the landlords suddenly decided not to be private, but rather to insert themselves into the public foray, making some rather serious accusations against their tenant in the public forum, a national publication no less with hundreds of thousands of readers. Their credibility is suddenly an issue when they are attacking someone else so publicly, and their background thus became an issue. I will defend a private person's right to be private and will continue to do so. But the second you decide you would like to participate in the public forum and insert yourself into this mess on such a deep level making accusations that serious, your credibility is fair game. These things are not black and white. These situations are fluid, and a comment that makes sense in that context one day, may not make sense at all when circumstances change. It is not "hypocritical," it's called LIFE. That's how life goes, it's an ever changing saga.
I predict there will be little left. The yard sale will be a smashing success. TLC will have buyers planted in the crowd. You just wait. Remember the guy who was Joan River's agent? He said he was told to bid in a Celebrity Apprentice auction.
You know if Uggs wants to give TFW uggs after the event whatever, but have the good sense to do so discreetly. She also gave her an ornament. Nobody would have known the wiser had she just shut up about it and not posted pics of it or discussed it, Kate happily smiling over her spoils. It was beyond inappropriate and insensitive. And heaven forbid Kate could have said thank you so much that's so kind but really I think this should be about the family not me.

The problem is some people don't understand the difference between "hypocrisy," which is what Kate does all the time, and "changing your stance because the situation, facts, or context changed too." That is not hypocrisy. That is changing your mind because the situation, facts or context changed. There's a difference.
Her general manager just might also get letters from people commending her for standing up to the irrational hatred.

I have not been following this landlord saga, but if Jon had not paid rent, it's my impression they could enter the property. If his rent was paid, they cannot enter the property without his permission.
I have no idea if Kate and Steve are behind the landlord speaking out to a tabloid, but Kate and Steve knew who his landlord was. I include Steve in this because he is technically a private detective and frankly, I think he partners with her in everything. Of course, I don't excuse Jon for not paying his rent and I don't know what the story is regarding the cat, but we did predict that something damaging would appear about Jon. For all we know, he may have been in some ongoing dispute with the landlord. But that still would not excuse him not paying rent. He should have just moved rather than be evicted. If they are not suing him for back rent, then something is indeed fishy about the story.
Poor radiogirl43 only has 373 followers. Maybe she thinks that some of the thousands of people that she's expecting to show up at the yard sale or some of TFW's thousands of fans will follow her. We kind of looks like a middle aged soccer mom (going by the pictures she's tweeted of herself) and this is probably much more exciting than her boring little morning show.

You would think so but no, in most states you absolutely cannot enter the property without notice, even if your tenant never paid you a dime. Even if they haven't paid you for six months. Crazy huh? You have to go through the proper procedures to evict, and unless and until they have vacated the premises you are not to enter their dwelling like that.
I would never want to be a landlord. The laws are complicated and heavily favor tenants. Ever see Pacific Heights? It's a film from the 80s or 90s about a tenant who they can't get rid of. It may seem like an exaggeration about a nightmare tenant, but it could happen. Then I and to take property in law school and read some wild cases about nightmare real cases. That scared me off being a landlord for good.

Wow, Kate looks really pretty in that metroparent article. Very youthful and fresh-faced. (I used to think, "how can such nasty things come out of such a pretty face?") What if your cat that you adopted from a shelter refuses to use a litter box and urinates everywhere, including your sofa? You've tried everything to correct the behavior, a change of diet, a change in litter brand, vet's advice, everything. It's a painful decision to find yourself in the position of finding another home for the pet you thought would be with you for the rest of its life. . Not all shelters are kill shelters. We have several here that are no-kill. If you find yourself in the position of being unable to care for a pet, through no fault of your own, it's some relief to know that the pet will not be put down and that it will find a home. It hurts, but sometimes there just isn't a choice.

I think a reasonable third option rather than believe it or not believe it is "I have no idea either way." Especially when the people making the accusations are a questionable lot in the first place. Moreover, the fact that the source may be questionable does not prove or disprove the accusations. Nobody suggested that. It's simply a piece of relevant information, take with it what you will. Inherently not credible people can tell the truth about things. Maybe they are telling the truth, maybe they are not. Nobody knows unless they were there.
I don't believe every article about Kate. In fact I think the latest one about how she is desperate for cash she had to do a garage sale is just plain silly! That's nonsense. She's making boatloads with this little stunt exploiting the kids again because TLC will be PAYING HER. Those checks will be far more than she'd ever make at some piddly garage sale. I agree, there are exceptions, but they are rare ones.
Just volunteering with a rescue I've seen people give up pets for so many reasons, most of them bad ones. They have a policy that they never allow a family who has given up a pet to adopt. No buts about it. It may seem like a harsh rule, but it avoids them having to constantly have to hand down an arbitrary judgment whether a family giving up a past pet had a "good reason" or not.
If you've tried every last thing and the circumstances were completely unexpected or out of your control, exceptions can be made. But it shouldn't be that common at all. There are a host of things people can try first that many people don't before throwing in the towel. People very rarely give up on their own children, they somehow make it work no matter what--but they do their pets. They don't hold it to the same standard of commitment, even though it should be. Quite frankly I've never seen an abandonment where the owner truly tried everything. I've seen some pretty gnarly ones, one in particular where my friend found the dog and located the owner, and the owner said she could either buy the dog for several hundred dollars or they were going to give it up to a shelter where it could be euthanized.

Also I like the questions that my rescue asks on their application. They ask things like what would you do if the dog was peeing everywhere and your toilet training wasn't working? What would you do if your financial situation changes and affording the dog becomes a hardship? What would you do if you had to move unexpectedly?
I think those questions do two things. Gives us the rescue an idea the sort of family and their level of commitment and to see if they aren't going to shy away from problems that might arise. But also, gets the family thinking whether they are really ready for this if things don't turn out all rosy. Gets them to face reality that there could be challenges about dog ownership that you should think through ahead of time, BEFORE the challenge is in your lap.
Once you become a public figure (and the landlord became that by his own choice), what you say and how you behave will all be examined under a microscope. Going back forever. Just ask Jon.
Once you become a part of the public arena, you give up some of your rights to privacy. If the landlord didn't want to have his life scrutinized in the public arena, he could have chosen to stay out of the public arena. That's not the choice he made.
I sometimes feel for Jon in that he is apparently trying to stay out of the public arena, but others keep dragging him back into it.
At what point is he no longer fair game? How much time has to pass before his life is no longer up for grabs as public fodder? Will it be like this the rest of his life? Once a public figure always a public figure?
Unfortunately, I think that the answer is yes. I think the public scrutiny can subside, but it will always be there to some degree. (Especially when you keep doing uh.....stuff.)

I think the key here is some. Jon went on Couples Therapy to talk about Liz and Kate. I think his relationships are fair game, as he has certainly put that out there to the public to discuss. However his rental history is very personal, it is to most people, and not relevant to what he has put out there to the public.
Same concept with the landlords. Their character is relevant. But it's not relevant how much money they have in their bank account, or what their address is, or even who their children are. The only thing I see relevant about them is whether they are, as a whole, credible people.
Same with a celebrity. Nobody has the right to demand a celebrity's home address, rental history, or tax forms, just because they were in a movie you liked. Not EVERYTHING should be fair game.
In fact that's even what the supreme court says. They have actually carved out something called a limited public figure, where portions of your life may be open and fair game because they are relevant for whatever reasons, but other portions may deserve the private person standard. For example, a fireman who rescues a child and wins an award may be allowed to be scrutinized regarding his work history because he was on probation at the time and shouldn't have been on the truck, same with the scrutiny of whoever allowed him to work. But it's not fair game to suddenly dig into his past and bring up some affair he has or an old parking ticket, or, his rental history.
That said I've read a good deal of first amendment law and there certainly are first amendment "purists" who think that EVERYTHING about a person is fair game, no matter what. They would support publishing rape victims' names in the newspaper, showing children's faces instead of blurring them, and printing somebody's tax forms even if it has nothing to do with anything. I am not one of those people, and neither are the courts.

I agree, Mel. And I think there were many, many arguments between Jon and Kate about that issue and if it wasn't the reason for the divorce it was a big part of it. They got in too deep, Jon saw what lay ahead for the kids and wanted out. Kate was enjoying it far too much to let allow that to happen.
Of course, living with an gluttonized narcissist was also a huge determining factor in their divorce. He was not going to win that battle and he knew it.

I'm actually listening to Kate's interview on that radio station. She said there would be Halloween decorations for sale at the yard sale. If I heard her correctly she said "We had our halloween episode a few years ago and i don't usually decorate for that." So she just admitted that everything she does is for the camera.
The corn maze lady was Polly and I do not think her blog has been updated for years. I liked her until she partnered with Al Walentis and attacked Robert. Ok, I took one for the team. I listened to part of the radio show. I have to say she is so BORING. Only her most ardent sheeple would find this interview interesting. She is not pricing her items, she is just going to ask what the person feels like paying. Also, Milo tweeted a question and Jackie did ask a very similar question. She talks as if she has done thousands of these sales. They asked her to stay longer and she said she could only stay a few more minutes as she has to get home and go through more closets and rooms.
She did not clarify the donation portion percentage and Jacke did not ask her for details. Oh, TFW is baking things to sell and then she said I am not a good baker! Scott commented that was not a good way to sell her baked goods. TFW clarified that while her baked goods are not pretty, they taste good. She is also making a lot of her 'Kate Salads' to sell for those of you who do not know how to put lettuce in a bowl.
Talking about her broken foot. She has not been running since. Oh she is so coy talking about how she must have a yard sale as she lost a lot of her storage space.
Asking how she deals with negativity. She does not pay a whole lot of attention to it. It says more about the person than it does her. You don't have to agree with her and you could not do what she does with 1 mom and 8 kids. Why do moms have to judge other moms? These people should help out at an animal shelter if they have so much time.

TFW is a real person and a real mom states Jackie. TFW is not very good at back and forth banter. She seems to miss Scott's jokes. Overall, she is still inarticulate and BORING. Jon was not mentioned in the part I heard. Jackie now loves TFW. TFW is full of herself now that she is filming again. Why doesn't she volunteer at the animal shelter when she is not working??? She's the one that has plenty of time. Oh and TFW, no one believes you ignore the negativity. If you did, you would have dedicated your marathon run to your children!

Kate's sister's husband wasn't accusing her of anything. It was Kate's sister who had an issue with her, and she never breathed a word about what her husband felt. The landlord interview was clearly the two of them, WE. And as I recall, the sister was just giving her opinion about Kate's fame going to her head and how they don't speak. She never accused Kate of illegal behavior or anything specific like that. That's different than accusing someone of illegal behavior, then expecting your own illegal behavior not to be an issue when it comes to your credibility. Most people here didn't like the rest of her family under the microscope just because her sister said something. In fact when I did a post that mentioned her daughter, pretty much everyone wanted me to take it down, so I did.
I don't see anyone doing a post about the landlord's children or other family members' past.

I think she doesn't celebrate Halloween not because she has some moral objection to it but because she's lazy. It's not a holiday where she can buzz around the kitchen for a couple weeks looking busy and the holiday is beautiful as a result. It requires you to go out there, help kids try on, pick out costumes. Run around town getting your pirate an eye patch because they were out at this store, or glitter for your princess. Go out there and pick a pumpkin and then go through the hassle of carving it. And deal with the public a lot like trick or treating. This is so not her thing, who cares what the kids want.
Selling something like a salad with all those fresh ingredients, salad dressing, etc. is a recipe for spreading around ecoli or other diseases. It's more riskier than other food items to take that on. Will she be wearing gloves, a hair net? Will she have the items chilled to the temperature required by law? Does anyone else honestly think she got a permit for this to cover herself? Will the salads be priced or can you offer a quarter for those too?

I said something similar upthread. She's talking without really saying anything. It means nothing. Political correctness so to speak. The comments she's getting are specific, with actual facts backing their words. It's not even like they are opinions, she IS a child exploiter, a grifter, a scam artist, lazy, a fraudster, an awful friend, wife, sister, daughter mother...

your life's activities dictated by a TV network. After you've

Those poor kids. They're at school now, and after a full week of
their own little lives' activities, they have to go to "work" tomorrow.
Talking to complete strangers for hours and hours. Perhaps being
asked personal questions about their lives, or having embarrassing things they've said or done on the show brought up. You can't tell
me not one of those 8 kids has something they'd prefer doing tomorrow - a birthday party, or a play date, or maybe just having
a quiet day at home hanging out with their dog. But no, they'll be outdoors performing like circus monkeys.
