They have a bunch of press interviews to show for the promo on Today. Oddly, they didn't include Kate's interview in that.

Trump is looking old. IF they really have to turn down 14 people a season who really want to be on they really must be 14 extreme D-listers.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 2

Woo hoo the episodes will be two hours each.

I thought they had said it might only be one hour this year.

I mean if we're going to do this we might as well do it right.

Cannot wait to recap this.

That clip was from an airport, was it not? Wonder which airport and how did the pap know Jon would be there?
Set up by Jon?? If so, good on him!

&&&

Nah, wasn't a setup. That was LAX. TMZ hangs out there every day waiting for a good tip on celebs. They can get tips from anywhere from twitter to emails. I've seen guys puttering around in the arrival areas with small camcorders. It's literally like fishing, see if you can catch a celeb walking out and get them to give you a five minute interview, you bank 200 bucks for it or whatever. They do the same thing at my old grocery store, just kind of hang out hoping to snag somebody. Last time I saw them they had found Dick Van Dyke. It sounds incredible boring, but then I imagine a lot of people think fishing is boring!

Can't wait to read them. And I can't wait to hear Trump utter those three little words to Kate.

&&&

Honest mistake. Any reasonable would assume a bunch of press photos on an article published today are probably current. Only if you delve into the text do they explain the photos were old. But the stuff with Trump was new, so.

I was skimming it fast myself, mostly just glancing at the photos, so I honestly didn't see it until someone pointed it out. I don't care for usually useless tabloid commentary so I tend to skim the commentary. Thus, I missed that little (March) note.

====

Yep. They're the only genuine thing about her. lol.

Jon said he gave $20 to Leah. Maybe Kate was collecting it from her in the photo of the three of them...probably saying something like 'you can't keep that money it's for charity' or 'it's mine ALL mine'.

btw I think Jon is looking really well these days. He looks healthy and happy. Kate looks like a caricature of Kate Gosselin.

Yes though I have to wonder when the well runs dry.

She's now done two of the biggest celebrity reality shows, DWTS and CA. It's unlikely she'll be able to do them a second time. What's really left on network TV that takes celebs? She may have to start doing the rounds of the more D-lister shows like the one Jon was on. I wonder if she'll lower herself. I wonder if she's noticed that scripted TV is back, and reality is out. The core shows have stuck around, but gone are the days you could find a reality show on every channel. The ones that were good have lasted, but she's already been on any of the ones that were good. Now what?

..............................

I still want to see her on Fear Factor. Bring on the bug noshing, beam dancing and flag grabbing...

Bill, you mentioned on the last thread that you wondered why Kate was mentioned first in the article. Well, I hope you watched the video, because she wasn't shown at all! HA!

Here's another support, that Kate was lying about the hot water tank. Kate said this is 1 of 2 hot water tanks, so if you have a second tank, you could still take a shower, in the apartment above the garage, nobody turns off water for the whole house, when you have a second tank. You just turn off water to that hot water tank. I just asked my heating guy where the shut offs are on the hot water tank & heating system, they are separated from your, main water supply.

As, for Kate, being in NYC recently, I agree she was, but put the BS story of the hot water tank, to throw people off.

And the story that is out on Jon, Jon flew into LAX. They did not say what for.

As for CA, never watch it, can't stand Donald Trump he is a pure a-hole, and kate , so I will not be watching. Pure TV garbage, and degrading adults.

She didn't say one of two hot water tanks. She tweeted:

Kate Gosselin @Kateplusmy8
1 of r water heaters died during weekend...vacuumed up gallons of H2O! My goal 2day-in no particular order? Build an ark & take a shower!

I don't think she really wanted to admit how many they have -- could be three in the house, one in the garage apartment. She needs to learn what to do when one of them malfunctions! Kate is on a well system over there, so I'm not sure that she knows exactly where the water comes from for her water heaters! I thought she had instruction manuals on all mechanicals.

One tank or two doesn't really matter though. There's always the stove and big pots to heat up water to put in the bathtub. You don't need to fill it to the brim anyway. Pretend you're homesteading. Geez.

Besides. what a doofus for actually tweeting you haven't had a shower in three days.lol Keep it to yourself or we might have to change your name from Shmoopy to Stinky.

Someone on the last thread asked about the amount donated to ARL. TFW tweeted that the amount would be "announced on the ep.

As far as CA goes, I've watched every season and plan to watch this one as well. Admin and I are both CA junkies. I think we speculated that TFW was the team lead for the wedding gown challenge and that her team won. We further speculated that she was fired in the Ivanka Trump shoe challenge. Of course she could have been the team lead on that challenge and her team lost which is why she was fired. In past seasons one of the previous winners interviews the current contestants and gives their opinion of them to The Donald. I hope they did it this time and I home Jone interviewed TFW. My opinion now is that the whole yard sale was a last minute thing to highlight TFW's charity and that this may be the same charity she picks for CA. If it is I really am looking forward to seeing her interact with the rescue animals when she presents the winning check to the league (assuming that she won her team lead challenge).

Some people are posting press like photos from CA like Shawn and the PA but I suppose they could be "regrams" what they call it when you post old photos. In any case it's only adding to the confusion.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 24

That's a great charity, but she hasn't once breathed mention of them since she last did something with them, once, as I recall, years and years ago. I remember she also failed to promote it very much or ever really explain her passion for it. It was a speaking engagement stop.

This was back in 2012. I wonder if she had any contact with them between then and her having to pick a charity for CA. Nah, how could she have known that they'd come in handy for CA. I want to hear her wax poetic about how this charity is very near to her heart because she's lucky to have 8 healthy children. When the time comes may e we should have a drinking game and every time she mentions that she's got 8 kids we take a shot of rumpspringa.

Kate being interviewed about her charity for CA.

There are no words for how fake she is and of course, she brings it all back around to her.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 28

Actually it's called instagram because it's supposed to be instant. It's not instagram kosher to post old photos unless you specifically mention it's a #regram or #tbt. First rule of Instagram. So I do think confusion over possible ancient press photos on INSTAgram is justified.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 29

NJ I put you in charge of the drinking game. Might as well have fun with it! I'm going to be out of the country for more than 2 weeks in February. That could really set me back on the recaps, curses!

http://www.realitytvkids.com/2012/05/kate-in-missouri.html

In Kate's babbling interview for the CA press junket, she explains that really, the camp is a chance for parents to be relieved of their disabled children for 2 weeks and that you know, some parents will never be able to get rid of their kids.

This really has to be one of the worst interviews I've ever seen her do.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 31

Yes I'm sure every parent's priority as far as this camp goes is to just get a break and not because it's a wonderful opportunity for their precious child to feel like every other kid at summer camp.

Really kate? If you want to dump your kids on somebody to get a "break" surely a friend or relative could help with that. That seems a heck of a lot easier. I remember how she didn't even promote it even though it was public knowledge she would be there. She promoted her cruise instead.

FlimsyFlamsy said... 32

NJGal51(#26), I also predict TFW will blame her failure to win
somehow on her children. How could she give 100% when
her heart was at home with her 8 children! She hearts them
so much! So even if she failed at this, to those 8 little faces,
she's a winner! Sniffle! Eye poke! Dab!

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 33

She says she met some of the kids at the speaking engagement she did. But has she ever actually been to the camp and seen it? Seen how it runs and what they do? She's sure not in any of the pics from the camp they showed. Was she paid for that speaking engagement by the way?

And yes Tucker she never once mentions what the camp can do for the kids. The entire focus was on how they will need to be parented forever (not necessarily kate. Many children with special needs become independent adults. Ignorant.) and that these parents need this two week break once a year. Wtf?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 34

I've seen regram to be interchangeable with both posting an old photo or reposting somebody's photo. Nothing silly about it. And yes you go to instagram jail if you post old photos.

Of course not, but it is supposed to be instant which is why if someone posts old things without saying so it can be confusing. That's all. Why argue over whether people should be confused? They were. You thinking it's not justifiable confusion is irrelevant to the fact that there was real confusion.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 35

Think, "dump" was a word to describe how kate seems to view it not how I or anyone else does. Of course a safe and happy place for respite care is wonderful but I doubt it is the only thought or even the priority for most parents. Yet it's all kate talked about, she did not mention oh and by the way it's wonderful for the children because of the opportunity to do this this and this. She seems to know nothing about this camp or what they do other than she sees it as a nice break for parents. She can only see things from her perspective how she would feel about the camp of she were the parent of a child there. Be upset with her.

Over in TFW: That's cause Kate had Jon doing all that maintenance, watching the kids, doing the house work, while she was in lala land, sitting on her ass.

From that tweet of hers, 1 of r water heaters, refers to more than one. But even so, apartments above garages usually have their own water heaters and Heating systems. I've watched enough rehab shows that explain, about heating service to the house and how it would be a stretch to run service to a garage. From the pics I've seen the apartment above the garage is a separate place, from the house. Kates house is huge, more than one hot water tank, and any apartment would have it's own service.

Kate doing the drama crap!

getofftwitter said... 38

So, anyone? Want to guess?

How long before Kate does the media tour? and who is going to have her on their show?

Any of the night talk shows? GMA? Merdith Viera? The Talk?

I wonder which ones?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 39

Well the youtube video was also uploaded nov 4 and makes no mention of when this interview occurred, so I stand by my statement that it's legitimately confusing whether some of this press stuff is new or old. You have to go in and match up the clothing in the video to old photos and the average viewer is not going to bother with that.

NJGal51 said... 44

Well that interview with the kids was really bad. Those teens were more articulate than TFW. When she asked how old they were I could see the wheels spinning while she tried to figure out how to get C & M the job.

I hate to tell TFW, but many kids with disabilities go on to lead very productive lives and live on their own or in group homes. I do much of my shopping at Safeway because our local store hires the mentally challenged kids as baggers and stockers. A very good friend of mine had Down Syndrome and worked for an Ability One agency and put plastic forks, knives and spoons into bags and she lived in a group home. No Kate, they don't have to be parented their entire lives. TFW is just showing how truly ignorant she really is.

nJ agree. I find her comment about people with disabilities will need to be parented forever just as offensive and generalized as her comments that this camp is all about giving parents a break. Some kids will need extensive help from their parents in adulthood but many don't. We have lots of resources now to support independence. She also mentioned that "normal" kids will go on to college, etc. Excuse me? Lots of kids with special needs go on to college including my aunt who has CP and is in a wheelchair. She went to an excellent university.

She's just so ignorant.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 50

Remember Penn's charity? Opportunity Village. He founded it too and it's all about encouraging adults with disabilities to be independent and work. CA often does montages where the celeb delivers the check to the charity and many people remember them, hug them etc. I can't picture how Kate's going to pull that off with a charity she's never even been to and hasn't mentioned in two years.

AuntieAnn said... 51

"Kids with... ya know... handicaps are needing to be parented for the rest of their lives. My kids, you guys will go off to college and you kind of become self-sufficient and these kids will need to be parented."

Since we will be getting some new folks checking out the blog, time for a review of popular acronyms used here!
TFW = The Former Wife = TCFW = The Former Crazy Wife = TFMJG = The Former Mrs Jon Gosselin = Katie Irene Kreider ( maiden name) = Kate Gosselin
Rat Claws = Flying Monkey = the Booby Guard = Steve Nield the bodyguard or manager or master manipulator or home wrecker, you decide!
The Orphanage = Shawshank = the Konpound = home where TFMJG and children live.
TLC = The Lying Channel for more than one reason!
Can't forget WOS = Waste of Space, what TFMJG called the Grand Canyon and what some here call TFMJG!
Saint Tony Dovolani of the Ballroom, who earned his sainthood and angel wings by being the dance partner of TFMJG on Dancing With The Stars lo these many years ago, and by refraining from strangling her as she used and abused him, and ignored all his instruction.
I'm sure I have forgotten some, please add to the list anyone!
Most importantly: The Veranda! About lack of hot water for a weekend:

My daughter had her pipes freeze and break during an extreme cold snap. Water was pouring down the outside of her garage door. She called a plumber, who explained that due to call volume, they were only turning off water, with no repairs done until the following Monday or Tuesday (or later). While she was still on the line, a neighbor who saw the water appeared at her door and located the water shut-off.

She and her room-mate were without ANY water for several days. They "borrowed" water from their next-door neighbors, carrying it by hand in pots and other containers. That's what mediocre people, who live in a community, do.

We didn't even discuss the shower situation - I imagine she either went without or went to the local rec center for a swim and shower.

Granted she doesn't have children, but I'm sure she would have coped even if she had, with a motel as a last resort.

Watch the non-fans/haters jump on this, not knowing that this was a mistake, and call her a liar and a fraud.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What's that supposed to mean?

Are you referring to the non-fans/haters here or is that a term only used for the ones that tweet? Because that's exactly what has been going on here on this blog all morning. She's been called a liar for most of the day here. Not that it wasn't understandable, but that's beside the point.

Maybe I took this the wrong way but it seems to me that you wrote that like it's okay for the non-fans to have called her a liar all day on this blog, but not on Twitter.

I'd like to know exactly what the difference is between calling Kate a liar here or on Twitter. If Kate has the non-fans/haters blocked and she can't see their tweets, not even on her timeline, why does it matter? Really, what's the difference?

If Kate does look for those tweets then that's on her. She wants to read them, same as if she comes to this blog to read them.

I'm not referring to the tweets between the fans and non-fans, that's a whole separate issue. I'm only referring to tweets about Kate on her timeline.

Maybe you all don't understand how twitter works. But if you Block someone on Twitter you can't see their tweets in your timeline or in search unless you go to that person's twitter account to read their tweets. So unless Kate types in a user's name or clicks on their name (in a tweet that lists them among other user names) to actually read their timeline, she does NOT see the tweets even if her name is in them.

The reason I (I can't speak for anyone else) include @kateplusmy8 or #kateplusmy8 in my tweets is like a "subject" or "topic." It's so you can see all the tweets about Kate in one place in one straight sequence without clicking all over to different users, etc.

I thought the same thing, she was trying to think HOW she could get the twins, or tups a nice gig like that. The video is hard to watch, she turns the interview about her.

What she said about a handicapped child that they have to be parented forever is THE dumbest, cruelest thing she has ever said.

The outfit she wore with the matchy-matchy shoes was ridiculous. A closed toe black heel would of looked great.

I once sat on the board (and later served as president) of an organization that was licensed as an adult training facility for those with special needs, We taught self-help, socialization and other skills, physical mobility, and communication The desired result was to place these mentally and physically challenged individuals in work crews, industry and eventually enable them to be free of having to depend on parents/caregivers by having them move to a group home. The goal was limited supervision, both in the work place and at home.

Kate is just plain stupid and has no clue. Moreover, she just blurts out whatever comes to mind. There is no filter there. Something is very "off" about the way her brain is wired. She need to just keep it zipped if she doesn't understand these things.

I think it's just her ignorance. She has not spent more than 5 minutes learning about her charity. She remembers a few talking points from her speaking engagements two years ago and can't even Get that right butchering the whole respite aspect of the program. It's really quite amazing to see a celeb with this little work ethic. Usually that's just not compatible with the lifestyle.

Not sure about that, Lauren. She couldn't keep her show from being cancelled and even promoted a contest in which fans tried to hype up her show...one in a Walmart parking lot!

And let's see. There was the Twist of Kate, the failed clothing line, the cruise that never sailed, her demise with Coupon Cabin, the cookbook flop...and so on.

Oh, that dress. No. Look at all the other contestants. Even if they have a bright color on, it's solid and the shoe is neutral. If they have a pattern, it's very muted. That dress looks so out of place, like a bamboo screen. And the shoes are too matchy-matchy.
There, now the fan blog that copies post after post from here and calls people 'jellus' can say that I am jellus and obsessed with Kate's wardrobe - just like they said I was obsessed with Milo's twitter, because I look at the timeline and see that she responds to one tweet from Kate 8 or more times.
But seriously, Kate needs a stylist to tell her to stick with solids, or muted patterns, and neutral shoes. Everyone else looks simple and elegant and she looks out of place.

What about the part in the interview where she says something like, "I met most of those kids (at Camp) and...I'm so thankful...my kids are healthy". She's basically saying, "I met those kids. And I'm so glad my kids aren't like that!!!" What a dope! She could have said she met those kids, and she's so glad there's a place where they can be treated like kids, and not kids with disabilities, where they can feel normal and included. Instead she just says she's glad her kids aren't like that. PR nightmare!

And that stupid interview with the teenage girls. Like others, I feel that was one of her worst interviews ever. When she gets to talk about herself and her every day crap, she has the gift of the gab ie. kids, organizing, running, cooking, coffee, sleeping in. If she actually has to talk about a topic that is not about her, she certainly struggles with it and it is so obvious in her presentation. She really is a mega moron and it showed here. @MY_2BCOLLIES @Kateplusmy8 It's called :#HavingThickSkin and #BeingALoyalFriend!

No, Milo. It's called living in a fantasy world, so deep in Celebrity Worship that you can't tell what's real and what isn't. You're not a loyal friend to Kate, and she's not a loyal friend to you. She gets nothing out of your imaginary relationship. She doesn't give a darn about you. You never met her and yet you are under the delusion that you are part of her family. That's not being a loyal friend. It's being in need of intervention and counseling. If you believe that you are a loyal friend, then plan on meeting her somewhere and developing a true relationship with her. That hasn't happened, even though you've had opportunities to do so. Why is that?

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 80

I felt myself literally cringing when she launched into how lucky she is HER kids are normal. Wth. I saw it coming too.

That camp needs to call her up and help educate her. Many special needs kids can grow up to be fairly independent, especially with the help of services. They do not all need to be "parented" into adulthood. Special needs kids can go to college. Never tell a special needs child thank goodness YOUR own child is not like them. Camp is not all about respite for parents to take advantage of.

In typical Kate fashion, what a mess.

&&&

Exactly. Her strategy will be unoriginal and cowardly. It will be to lay low. Avoid conflict/drama, definitely avoid being PM, avoid taking on the more difficult aspects of any of the projects. Trust NJ and I, this will be what happens, we're calling it!

This is the sort of strategy many of these reality show contestants take. Survivor is another one where many people lay real low, go along with everything, avoid conflict and attention.

This does work once in a great while to win. But usually it's only enough to get you about halfway through the game. Then if you don't make a move soon, you're out. It is a lazy strategy, which is why it produces few winners and mostly mediocre "half-way there" folks, which is I suspect is exactly what happened to TFW. If you don't want to lose, lay low. But don't expect to win.

Another reason she will lay low is because she knows darn well she can't hang with people like Brandi. They will chew her up and spit her out, so best not make yourself their meal in the first place.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 83

The thing is too, the main hook of this camp is that they take any normal camp activity and modify it however they need to so anyone can do it, no matter what their special needs are.

Why is THAT not mentioned when describing them? It should be the first thing you talk about, that's what makes them so great. Heck I remembered that about them from over two years ago, and if asked to describe them I think most people would say oh yeah that camp they make sure ANYONE can participate.

Tons of programs offer respite. That is not the main draw of it. It never even crossed my mind about that.

Rhymes with Witch said... 84

That one minute interview easily makes it into my top 10 worst Kate moments of 2014. Have to remember this one. It was just awful what she said. If she were actually more famous, other people besides us might actually care.

Can you imagine if say, Obama said that? Gosh, people freaked out when he said his bowling was like the Special Olympics. And he immediately apologized too and invited some special needs athletes over to the White House. I suppose Kate won't be doing that.

While it is stupidity, it's laziness too. What was painfully obvious is that she did not prepare to talk about her charity more than maybe a quick glance at their web site on her phone. She should be sitting down for at least a couple hours prior to this, preferably with help from her manager or PR type person, and develop and strengthen her talking points so she can speak credibly about it. Like the other celebs she needs to explain the ins and outs of the charity, the two or three things that make them so special, and why she cares so much about them. But she's too lazy to bother. So she wings it, and it's a hot mess.

She even admits she flies by the seat of her pants. She bragged about putting her speech together in the car for the Penn State speaking engagement. Kind of disrespectful to those who came out to hear her.

I think the picture of TFW on the porch steps with the BV sign may be the one that was used in the article that she wrote for BV.

Admin is absolutely right. TFW will coast along and as long as the women's team wins she won't have anything to worry about. If the woman's team loses the PM will have to make a really good case about those she brings back in to the boardroom. I'll be interested to see how she interacts wit everyone in the boardroom and with her team when they're watching the men's team in the boardroom.

CC - to answer your question on twitter, if TFW is the PM and ser team wins Camp Barnabas will get money. Sometimes it's a flat amount and sometimes they'll get whatever is raised by both teams. It's a great charity but TFW doesn't seem to understand anything about their mission.

Right. But she has to be an enabler because she thinks that's what Kate needs and wants. When she speaks of friendship, she has no idea that a true friend will be honest with you and NOT fawn over you, worship you and tell you everything that you want to hear. That's not being a "loyal friend." Milo is just too dense to get it, or else she really does know that if she tells Kate the harsh truth about some of Kate's behavior, she'll be blocked, ignored, and thrown away. Then again, perhaps she really is blind to Kate's faults.

Milo will eventually realize that this friendship is one-sided, no matter how much of a martyr she makes herself out to be.

Wouldn't a normal person hit themselves on the forehead after that? "Doh! Why did I talk about how healthy my kids are, how insensitive! Doh! Why didn't I mention the main POINT of their program which is to make accommodations for any camping activity? Gaa!"

Is this part of cat fishing herself? Sure that cluster&*ck went GREAT, Myself, I was wonderful!

I have a second question. Even if a narcissist isn't capable of realizing how bad they were on their own, once pointed out to them their huge missteps and insulting moments, would they then realize it or would they still deny it?

I didn't watch the interview (what with not wanting to lose the will

out of favor? I would think it'd be better to say that these kids have
physical "challenges." "Handicaps" seems like automatically
labeling someone "less than."

DId it not occur to TFW to think of this from the CHILD's POV? How
joyful it might feel to be with other kids who have similar challenges?
To just cut loose and have a good time, doing activities tailor made
for them, without feeling set apart and different and pointed to and
whispered about? I would give the woman credit if she'd mustered
up some compassion or understanding of what those children might
feel like. Even memorizing a statement the camp provided for her
would show some effort. But it's the usual last-minute, glance at
the cliff notes, I'll just wing it, whatever, that we've come to expect

====

You could stand a narcissist in front of a panel of 100 psychologists who specialize in diagnosing NPD while each one of them explains to her that she shows every last trait of the disorder (with some they've never even seen before), advise her to seek help immediately and she would look each and every one of them in the eye and tell them they're wrong, they don't know what they're talking about and they wouldn't know how to help her if they did.

So the answer to the question is yes. They will deny it. Narcissists like Kate live in chronic denial of the disorder.

Yes. I don't know that it's as bad as other words but I know there are a good deal of people with special needs who feel that word focuses on their disabilities and what they can't do rather than their abilities. I get that.

The biggest factor is arrogance. She thinks she's so talented that she can prepare a speech in a limo on the way to a speaking engagement and knock it out of the park.

Narcissists think they are so far above mere mortals that any crumb they throw to the teeming masses is pure gold. That's arrogance in my book.

I can't believe she thinks she did well in that interview. It's not about the parents. It's about the children being able to do things during those 2 weeks that they wouldn't normally be able to do. I'm sure some parents do enjoy the "break" but I imagine many of them are still living relatively normal lives while their child is at camp. They're still going to work and taking care of any other children they might have. It's not like when Kate gets a break from her children.

One of my little cousins has cerebral palsy and was able to go to Camp Riley, which is similar to Camp Barnabas. Years later he still talks about all the things he was able to do that just aren't feasible outside of the camp. He also made lifelong friends. My aunt and uncle talk about what a fantastic time he had, not about the "break" they got while he was away. If anyone is interested here's the website: Camp Riley

Later in the interview she says something about looking back and realizing how much work your mom did. Then she doesn't miss the opportunity to pat herself on the back about how much she "really gets it now." So first she's talking about special needs children and how their parents need a break, but then she just can't stop herself from mentioning how hard she has it? No, she really doesn't get it and never will.

It breaks my heart that a camper from this camp might hear her talking about how much work it is and feel guilty they are causing their parents a lot of "work" and that they just badly need a "break." They need to just enjoy camp and not feel like they are burdens to their parents. Sigh.

I forgot to add that I watched Vivica A Fox's video about her charity of choice. She grew up in my hometown (Indianapolis) and graduated from the same high school as the older siblings of my cousin I mentioned in my previous comment, and I've always like her as an actress.

Her charity is Best Buddies which provides people with special needs the tools to become more independent and more included in the community. Hmm, I guess Kate was wrong and not all kids with special needs will need to be parented for the rest of their lives.

Yep. I have many clients diagnosed with various disabilities who are raising their kids on their own. Actually a lot of the organizations I have worked closely with over the years, like Regional Center, pride themselves on guiding mothers and fathers with special needs to learn to be more independent. I like seeing a mother beam with pride because she learned how to prepare and feed the formula for her baby on her own, or a father who learned how to read the bus schedule so he could take his child to school. They no longer need to be "parented" in these areas.

I am speechless at Kate's "words" about her charity. It's clear she knows little to nothing about special needs children. Just a little lesson, public schools in this country are required by Federal Law to educate special needs students within their schools. These students not only have an academic aspect to their education, they are also taught skills so that they can handle jobs, self-sufficiency, etc., These children are incorporated into the every day schools lives that other "normal" students lead. These children may have classes separate from the general student population, but in every other aspect they are a part of that school and its community. In fact, a couple of weeks ago, there was a segment on NBC News where 2 special needs students were name Homecoming Queen and King at their high school. We've come a long way in this country on how special needs students are viewed and treated. It's clear Kate has no real view of the world.

Vanessa, you explained it very well. She may have moments of doubt, but in order to maintain her very thin grasp of being "superior" she has to pat herself on the back to maintain her narcissistic supply. She can't accept that she was inferior or it would devastate her. I've seen narcs collapse into puddles, rocking and fretting. They are terrified of a lot of things but manage to suppress their fears in order to survive. A good example with Kreider was the jump off the building. The meltdown at the bottom was the real thing. That was the real Kreider. But, by the time of the couch interview, she OWNED that jump. In her mind she came out the winner and that's all that matters. So thinking about that interview would be no different. And it explains why she says the kids rewatch the show all the time. I actually don't believe the kids watch the old shows any more, but I'll guarantee she does. The show is her trophy that she takes out and polishes whenever she needs an emotional boost.

I wonder if Camp Barnabas knew she was doing this or if she just pulled it out of her ass. Can a charity turn down funds if they disapprove of the source?

I noticed her tweet only got 62 retweets and 290 "favorites". I wonder how many were bots. TLC is going to build a show on that?

They said, on their website, that they had a half-marathon and 5 k fundraisers this years. Isn't her broken "foot" more than a year old?

Many here speculated about what charity TFW would pick for
her CA charity. We assumed it would be kid focused, as that's
what she's hung her, heaven help us, career on. But we thought
it would be Ronald McDonald house, or the NICU at Hershey --
something that would honor the struggle her babies had, and
the wonderful people who helped her family in a miraculous way.
So Camp Barnabas might seem like an unexpected choice.

But after hearing TFW only sees the benefit of the camp from what
she perceives the parents' POV to be (a break from their exhausting children), it makes perfect sense why she picked it. It's yet another
chance for her to play the victim card. I half expect there to be a
montage on CA of her taking care of her children, as they play
"It's A Hard-Knock Life" in the background.

Sideline Observer said... 138

What did Camp Barnabas do to "earn" TFW as a benefactor?

They got a lot more meaningful help when they were the focus of an Extreme Makeover: Home Edition episode.

Extreme Makeover and Celebrity Wife Swap are both ABC shows, so I'm guessing TFW remembered seeing that episode of EM:HE and decided Camp Barnabas was a high-enough-profile charity [has appeared on TV] that she could half-ass her way with for Celebrity Apprentice. So that was probably the extent of TFW's research into what charity to play for.

Even if the whole point of the camp was respite, which it absolutely is not its main point, why in the world would you emphasize that so much knowing campers could be listening? It's very hard to explain that part of it without making the poor child feel like a burden to their parents. I imagine any parent in true need of respite care for their child would pursue it in a way that is sensitive to their child's feelings and never make them feel like they are a burden. For her to then go on and say they won't go to college and will have to be parented the rest of their lives could be crushing to a special needs child who has goals to be independent that they are working on.

I had the same thought. She loved the interview because it was just some kids. You could see how immediately comfortable she was with them. She knew they wouldn't ask her anything that was remotely controversial. She knew they weren't seasoned journalists who would press her with any kind of scary follow up questions. And that's Kate in a nutshell. She wants to be the alpha, the one in control, the smartest one in the room. When she is, she's the life of the party. When she's not, she cowers away in fear, as she will do on CA.

Why didnt she donate the proceeds of the yard sale to camp Barnabas you ask? Because no charity means anything to her and they're all interchangeable. A charity is a charity is a charity.

-----------

Coming to her defense here (gasp), I think that the rationale here was doing something for her local community, TLC making her out to be a benefactor in her area. Those who went to the yard sale were locals, and therefore more likely to spend the money knowing it was going to an organization with which they were familiar....keeping the money in their own back yard.

FlimsyFlamsy said... 146

I think TFW is also comfortable with 17-year-olds because she
somehow sees them as her "peers." A typical almost 40-year-old
might see these girls and think, gosh, my own daughters are almost
that age, and have a maternal feeling about them. But TFW likes
to make herself seem younger -- talking about One Direction and
Taylor Swift, and hanging out watching American Idol with her
daughters like a BFF slumber party. So this didn't feel like a "real"
interview -- just chitchat with some teenagers, and an opportunity
to show how young and hip she is. Oh, yeah, and some charity or
whatever.

I think narcissists relate to and prefer anyone who isn't going to give the situation a lot of criticism or critical thinking, in this case due to age and inexperience, in other cases due to not being that bright. So even though a narcissist might not understand child development or be able to parent a child appropriately, it is possible for them to connect with children especially kids not their own they don't have to parent. Bubbly teens is definitely a group she is comfortable talking with as long as they are not HER teens. After all a bunch of her fans are in that demographic and she loves them.

sayitisntso said... 151

TFW does not mix well with others - Dancing with the Stars, for example. You could tell that many of the cast and dancers could not stand her. Never mind St. Toni, who she told that he needed to teach her so she could understand....WTF??

I imagine, TFW had a similar experience with CA, as she is so easy to see through.(Plus only one who needed a private body guard on the show.)

Beyond her 8 count 'em 8 kids, she is amazingly unaware of anything going on that does not involve HER. She is almost 40, built a reality tv show around her kids, and doesn't seem to have a clue how the rest of the world functions. Remember the World Trade Center - a bombing or something like that.

My mom was a mother to 6 kids, and was fully aware of what was going on in the world with OTHER PEOPLE. When we were kids, she took the time to educate all of us about ongoing world events, and to let us know that far more people have it worse and that self pity was not an option.

TFW is all about the next paycheck and how charity will benefit HER. Seriously, why is she donating a "portion" of proceeds to AR when she could have donated the full amount to them. She still has not mentioned how much was donated, after she said they made tons of money. I am sure this was a TLC idea, with the remodel, or else she would have put this stuff in a consignment shop. She simply is not a charitable person.

As for CA, I have no doubt that she is doing this for national camera time. And she is so easy to read, that I am pretty sure most of the stars probably couldn't stand her, with some "tolerating" her. Like DWTS.

At her age, you should have some awareness, beyond yourself, but since she is a narcissist, and she is high on that range, she will probably remain the ignorant, self-absorbed twat that she is and it is never going to change.

Realitytvkids.com ~ Administrator said... 152

I read their mission statement on their web site finally and they literally list about ten different purposes before they ever get to respite care. They include changing the lives of those with special needs, growing in Christ, showing missionaries what it means to serve, giving a child the best week of their life, helping kids make new friends, etc. etc etc. etc. Can't she hit on at least two or three other talking points about it and their goals? Even when they do talk about respite care, they just list it, and quickly move on to discussing in more depth other benefits to parents like finding encouragement from other parents. Any kid reading this would gloss right over the "respite" which is just listed but not explained, and wouldn't be offended. But there goes Kate explaining exactly what she thinks that means and potentially making them feel awful.

And wow they sure are heavy handed on the religion, not that there's anything wrong with that. Missionaries and all that. Whatever happened to Kate and religion? She used to mention it all the time.

Saw the video of Kate's interview and she should NOT be promoting camp Barnabas. She has no idea how to respectfully talk about children with special needs.

Camp Barnabas is a Christian camp for children with special needs. They have a lovely mission. Kate claimed their mission was to give parents a 2-week break from their 'handicapped" kids.

No, Kate, the camp was not designed to give parents a break. It was designed to bless the children. You are one seriously messed up person.

I'm not all that surprised at Kate's ignorance regarding children with special needs. After all, this is the woman who claimed her 1 year old sextuplets were disabled because they couldn't feed themselves, get dressed by themselves, use the potty, etc.

As for her comment about it being a place for parents to leave their kids so they can get a break, again not surprising, since that's her goal every chance she gets.

I am SO thankful she did not have any children with disabilities.

As for her loving a chance to do one week with the kids and one week away, she has that opportunity already. It's called joint custody. Let Jon take all the kids for a week and alternate back and forth. But wait, that would likely mean Jon would be entitled to child support, as she ,ales more money than him. Can't let that happen.

Looking forward to Admin's recaps!

Yes.

Here is the bottom line with that interview which is why it really struck a sour note with me. She focused on the negatives about special needs: You need parenting into adulthood, you can't go to college, your parents need a break (and she got those wrong to boot).

If you read the camp's mission statement, Kate, the vast majority of their one-pager is all about the positives. About blessing the children, making friends, opening doors for them, encouraging parents and missionaries. It's all about what the kids CAN do at camp and in life, not on what they CAN'T.

It builds self confidence, teaches you the importance of teamwork but also teaches kids how to be independent, they experience nature, creation, freedom, acceptance among your peers, etc. I could go on. IT'S ABOUT WHAT IT DOES FOR THE KID - NOT THE PARENT. A disabled child lives with that 24/7. Parents get a break, they work, they sleep. Yes it is hard but Camp Barnabas is about the childs experience, not the parents.

As has been discussed here the children are older and don't have a cute factor for the audience. They simply grew out of the toddler stage. Now the reality industry is shifting by having less reality TV, more scripted shows because of the decline in reality TV ratings. (A different article I ready, but didn't post) And according to this article the public isn't interested in bad behavior but want solutions to everyday problems. The times they are a changing. So if the parents of these kids get a two-week break they'll be able to get through to the next year? In addition to being insensitive, what kind of screwed up logic is that? I hope ROL or one of the tabs calls her out on this. Robert had her pegged from the beginning, didn't he?

Especially since she wanted a two week break a MONTH.

Welcome to what most mothers do every Mon.-Fri., Kate.
Dear, this doesn't make you special, or hard working.

Who thinks Kate's "work day" involves yammering on the phone for interviews about herself?

Kids out the door is code for the Nanny took them to the bus stop, btw.

Your welcome (newbies)

For several summers, my son was privileged to attend a camp similar to Camp Barnabas and it never once crossed my mind to be grateful that I "had a break" from him. Grateful that he had an opportunity to meet other kids, enjoy new activities, be just a regular kid...yes, oh yes. To hear her dismiss such a blessing so callously, so selfishly is so far beyond inconsiderate and ignorant that I don't even have a word for it. I wish the camp would throw her paltry contribution back in her smug face but I know they won't. They will put the needs of the children first, as they should.
-----------------------------

Well said fade2black!!!

Her crap about parents needing a break and "these kids" will always need parenting is a slap in the face to this foundation and the kids who attend.

The focus is on the kids and their special needs and allowing them to have a great time, with activities addressing their special needs, and to make them feel good about their accomplishments, as well as spend time with others with special needs.

I get it as I have a special needs brother, and we all adore him, as he sees the good in all, is always willing to help, and is one of the kindest souls I have ever met. My family often say he is an example to us of his kindness, good soul, and overall good person who finds the best in everyone he meets.

TFW totally missed the mark with her ignorant statement. If she had taken time to get to know some of the kids, she would NEVER have said that in an interview. Once again she speaks of nothing she knows.

The fall Of HBB...death knell of trash reality tv"

"Ong said that the culture is becoming increasingly progressive and reality shows have to reflect that movement with programming that looks for real answers to real problems."

I think TLC's huge mistake with both seasons of "Kate Plus 8" was that it wasn't real. Sure, it's not scripted, but it wasn't real.
Not real life. Not mine and not most of all of yours.
We don't pack our kids up and fly hither, tither and yon to give them every experience under the sun- some that qualify for a bucket list that most people pray they can cross off...one day.
Kate Plus 8 was so out of touch that it couldn't possible offer anything but the train wrack factor of watching Kate melt down.
Not even the kids could draw the way they could as toddlers.

We'll see if continuing to film the kids "real" lives works, ie: mundane, normal stuff like going to activity/sports facilities and ice skating and having a full-fledged carnival on your 23 acres and buying your kids a $6000 John Deere and...
Oh shit...wait....

I imagine many parents of children with special needs have to be told by friends or family hey you really need to have a break, before it would ever cross their mind.

The thing I like about this camp is that it does allow that respite in a manner that would help a parent both accept that it's okay to step back once in awhile and to be able to do it guilt free because their child is having a wonderful time. But it's hard to believe this would be the primary motivation or even any at all motivation for most families to participate.

Last time she mentioned it, they were watching church on TV. LOL
Actions speak louder than words.

Last time she WAS in church, she was taking pictures of the kids!!!!!!! to prove she and kids were there. Who does that? And some of the parishioners were not happy!

Really? How about her ex-husband, who gave an tabloid interview saying he wants to go on Couples Therapy with Kate to discuss their co-parenting issues, but she won't do it? Who's really the one who will do anything to get back on television and make some $? Do you think television counseling for their divorced parents is in the best interest of the Gosselin children?

888888888888888888888888888888888

I suspect Jon is at the point where he'd do just about anything to get professional help for the benefit of his kids. If it meant going on tv, I to get help I guess that's better than nothing.

Remember, it was Jon who said no to filming counselling on the Dr. Phil show when their marriage was circling the drain. Guess who refused unless it was filmed for t.v.?

And NOW we're concerned about what's best for those kids? You're about 8, count 'em, 8 years too late.

Kris (#171), I appreciated your input about camp experience as an
insider. And yours, Fade2Black (#175) as the mother of a child
who was enriched by his time at camp.

Lots of great shares today. Interesting how some silly little
interview which might not even have pinged anyone's radar
seems to have struck such a chord with so many of us. It's
just one more reminder of how out of touch TFW is. That
frazzled but approachable mom "costume" she was wearing
at the yard sale was simply that -- a false persona she slipped
on for the occasion. The woman in the interview with the teen
twins is the real Kate Gosselin. And I suspect there are rabid
raccoons with more of a maternal instinct than she has.

An excerpt...

VH1 was the first to air a naked dating show here in the U.S. VH1's executive vice president of original programming and production, Susan Levison, told TheWrap that she was attracted to the authenticity the show brought out in its participants.

[The nudity] was really a storytelling device that was about something — the search for true love and what happens when you throw away your inhibitions,” Levison said. “I loved the fact that it was a big hook and it was noisy but also that there was something real and authentic driving it.”

***************************************************

What a load of moose paddies. Yes, sheer authenticity because everybody is naked when they meet people and go on a first date.

Does this Ms. Levison really think people are buying that baloney?

Participants are naked because, like she said, it's simply a hook. It's a ploy to get people to tune in and like all reality shows, has very little to do with anyone's reality except the idiots they get to sign on for this crap.

Makes me long for the days of crappy scripted television, at least producers of those shows didn't insult our intelligence by trying to claim "something real and authentic driving it".

Sheesh!

PJ I had the same thought. He's mentioned he's tried to get kate to do therapy many times. He knows she only understands TV. If this is the only way he can get her to do therapy it's worth a try. Quite frankly Dr Jenn was pretty spot on about a lot of Jon's issues. I think she could really help them but that's exactly why kate won't do it.

First and foremost you want to be satisfied that your child is safe, their medical and physical needs are met and that they are comfortable, happy and having a good time. The challenges of the kids at Camp Barnabas are many so I'm positive the staff is competent and professionally trained to care for their visitors.

Parents of children with disabilities/special needs don't 'dump' their kids off because they're tired of looking after them. You want peace of mind when you drive away but believe me, even if you know it's a safe place to leave your child, you still worry about them when they are out of your sight. Unless you're Kate Gosselin, it's wired into your DNA.

Ladies who came to organize and were rudely shut down for suggesting a gift wrap station
Hospital workers/patients treated rudely on one episode
Her own twins in interview (snap snap, use your words)
The young man named Gosselin who was told to stop using 'her' name (her ex husband's name, technnically)

These were all things she did publicly. She doesn't even have the sense or awareness to tone it down, knowing others are seeing it and she will be scrutinized. I know others will have many more examples.

I wish they'd go on Dr. Phil, and I can't stand that bald, bloviating, butthead. If it got them talking and got some intervention that benefited the kids, I'm all for it.
Right now, those poor kids are being psychologically water boarded ;-(

************************************************

Narcissists have no problem acknowledging, and can even be incredibly supportive of, OTHER PEOPLE needing therapy or help sorting out their emotional issues.

Just don't involve them because they're not the ones with the problem, YOU are.

Case in point...

I was hospitalized when I was 14 for a suicide attempt. I happened to be living with my father at the time. I moved in with him a few months earlier and though he was not at all abusive, he worked 14 hour days, 6 days a week and was not equipped to deal with a teenage girl wrought with emotional turmoil.

The doctor assigned to my case thought it was prudent to get my mother to sit in on one of my sessions. I was actually surprised she showed up, but the first thing out of her mouth did not surprise me at all...

"I don't even know why I was asked to be here, she's been living with her father for the last few months."

In my mother's mind anything that I was going through couldn't possibly be her fault because I'd been living with my Dad when the incident occurred.

This, even though she was well aware of the accusations of sexual abuse I had made against her husband, which was why I was living with my father in the first place.

Just goes to show you how deep in denial a narcissist will blanket themselves to avoid taking any responsibility for the choices they make and how those choices affect other people, even their own children.

Scripted TV is getting better and better, and I think it will be to the detriment of most reality tv programming.
I think streaming video is going to be the future. No longer will we idly "surf" channels to find something even remotely worth watching, when we can choose from amazing programming with amazing talent and engaging stories, all at our fingertips- at a time we choose and we can even binge if we want!

I find myself flicking through channels far less, and turning on my Roku (streaming device) much, much more.

There's a vast world (literally!) of great programming out there that makes HBB and each and every Real Housewives show look like poor man's entertainment.

Exactly right, Auntie. When he was living it up at camp, I was fretting about whether he took his meds, did his therapy, stayed on his diet, picked up some horrible exotic germs on top of the usual parental concerns about clean undies and teeth brushing...learning to let go was a much harder task than every day caretaking.

He lost his battle with cystic fibrosis 9 years ago, so according to Kate I should be relieved that I don't have to parent him anymore? Her ignorance breaks my heart.

In the Nov. 17 issue of In Touch, he adds, "She's still so angry at me."

Kate, 39, isn't on board. "She says absolutely not," Jon says. "She doesn't want her faults exposed."

In the same article, he snipes, "I'd love for her to finally admit that she's dating [her bodyguard turned business manager] Steve Neild. It's confusing for the children." Kate has denied the alleged romance.

No surprise Kate won't get therapy with Jon, let alone film anything exposing any imperfections or culpability.
However, what's very intriguing is that Jon seems more convinced than ever that Kate and Steve are dating- she just won't own up to it.

I mean, he's just putting it right out there! You know Kate's going to blow because others will pick up on it and ask her if it's true.
