Same here, Tucker's Mom. My friend had borderline personality disorder. Boy, you learn fast when you get on the wrong side of one of those! I watched Good Ol' Freda today. It's about the Beatles secretary and friend of 10 years. She is absolutely adorable! And she still works! Admin, if you're on Delta, it is on their entertainment system on your flight back. I watched both documentaries on my 10-hour flight today. Highly recommend the Ol' Freda one for many smiles. Vivian's story is compelling too, but it got darker and darker.

Remember this dog lives 90% of it's life outside, probably eats God know what out there. We know this to be true cause the dog already did that and got sick. If the dog is a house dog(lives 90% of it's life inside, then having the bird and dog in same room is very possible, but has to be done from day one, for the 2 to get along. Their dog only knows that, the bird is food, just like that rodent it killed and ate, and the chickens it killed, and as I said above who knows what else this dog has eattin.
My dogs are 90% in the house, house dogs. If I take my birds out I would do it in the room they are in, and close the door. It is for their safety, cause the room they are in is next to the kitchen, and cause of the dogs, and they can get hurt.

I read here everyday, but have only posted a few times. I watched last night's episode and couldn't believe how much Kate talked about how exhausted she was. Every single interaction she had with those kids just wore her out. It was disgusting to hear her drone on about having to parent her own children.
And there was one scene at the yard sale that left me staring at my TV in disbelief. A lady came up to Kate and complimented the girls, saying how beautiful they are. Kate's response was something to the effect of "yeah, well I've had a lot of kids, I guess you know that", while kind of flipping her head in the general direction of the kids. Kate didn't say "thank you" or "yes, they're turning into lovely young ladies" or any other response that would be normally given when a mom hears something nice about her children. She really doesn't see those kids as people. They really are just props to her.

That is just a strange amount to me. Something is fishy.

His mother said she had no idea about this before.
Philly has a new law for dogs. Owners must bring a dog inside from the cold if a Code Blue is declared for the night. Fines go up to $500. It's not the first law of this type. I wonder if they will spread to smaller municipalities or not.

Kate wouldn't lift a finger to do the hard work that it takes to work with and train a dog. It's intensive. Kate obviously has archetypal views, including gender roles for girls and boys, and where dogs belong in a household/family, that she does not deviate from. Once Zorro came into her house, any chance that Shoka had to be among his people in his home was lost. I think Shoka can seek shelter in the basement, but he'll never be in the main living areas, let alone see a comfy human bed.
Kate made a choice, and that choice was Zorro, even though Shoka not only came FIRST, but was cast aside for what? A year? ******* Nothing wrong with that ;-) The difference is that you would never own a dog that you know you couldn't love and spoil and embrace, and that's exactly what Kate is doing. When Shoka gets up there in age, God help him. Kate isn't going to go the extra mile, or even an inch, to put the time, money and effort into caring for an aging dog. Senior dogs can have quality lives-enriched by love, caring and lots of soft places, but that sadly won't be Shoka. Shoka will be taken away once again, or euthanized at the first sign of needing extra care and love.
I don't know if the question's ever been raised, but TLC's actions go beyond the usual business reasons.
Normally, episodes would get edited to squeeze in more commercials when the series is sold into syndication.
In this case, TLC acts more like a communist country sanitizing its media to rid anything portraying the regime in a bad light.
Assuming TLC truly believes there's a revenue stream in K+8 syndication, sanitizing K+8 episodes would be an attempt to make those episodes palatable for syndication. Either that, or TLC knows deep down that they have a smoldering bomb crater in those K+8 episodes and are looking to rewrite history and hoping nobody really notices.

That is the number I prefer looking at because that number is the amount of viewers between the ages of 18-49, the target ages sponsors look at and the group networks want to attract.
Interestingly, the ratings for the 8pm showing of K+8 was down to 0.3
TLC was only listed 4 times on the top 100 cable programs for Tuesday; Kate+8 with ratings of 0.5 and 0.3 and "My Big Fat Fabulous Life" listed twice with 0.5 ratings. Kate was TLC's top show for Tuesday night when you combine ratings with viewers. That may be enough to keep her going.
TLC is a barely mediocre network at best, but an 0.5 rating still makes them millions upon millions. Mediocre Kate may continue with mediocre TLC for some time, unless that 0.3 number is a red flag. Who knows?

TLC's programming is not that type that is generally picked up for syndication.

I think she loves Zorro because he doesn't argue with her, does not present any great challenges to her, but her over-the -top display when Mady was painting, was simply sad. Wish she would be as happy with her kids. As for Joel, who seemed to be one of a few helping cleaning up the basement, the way she shoved the books off the shelf onto the floor, instead of helping him, reassemble them in the case was disgusting. The boys are open target in my mind.

And they don't use any of them that much, except for two that are in the front of the house and land in sun spots when they appear. They drag the beds to the sunspots and move them when the sun moves. I wish we could post pictures. My friend started a dog rescue and I washed up a bunch of beds we weren't using (including some brand new huge ones from long ago when we had big dogs) and piled them up to take them to her. PJ's companion, a little terrier mix who looks and acts like a tiny goat, climbed into the top one and just stared at me as if to say, "Don't give my beds away! I use them, see?" She didn't even know some of them existed; it was so cute.

Saw on the news about a single dad who has a 3 yr. old daughter with long hair. He was going to have to fix her hair every morning. He didn't know how. Guess what? He went to Beauty School and LEARNED how to do it! And his teacher didn't have to learn how to teach him either! And HE GOT IT! Not only did he do a great job on his little girl's hair, he graduated at the top of his class! AGAIN, HE GOT IT!
Just think, when you started doing talk shows, radio and interviews and someone, and I pretty sure someone did suggest to you to take some kind of class or classes in speaking and communication. Didn't watch this episode, but TFW and Mady did this previously on another episode. So now we have TFW (no surprise) and M who wants to be a star trying to show how much they love C. Bullcrap. No wonder C wants to get her own room, she is sick of the BS and will not participate. She was very close to Jon who was more grounded in terms of what is best for his kids, so hopefully she can visit with him more often, maybe with the boys, so she has someone other than the pimp to talk to. This family is heading for the toilet with so much obvious dysfunction, and not sure how long it is going to take TLC shut it down. Seems like TLC will continue filming until they are forced to stop. Sorry, if I already posted this. Someone posted the address of the compound. I went to showmystreet and I finally saw the hairpin curve near her house. I had NO idea it was that close to her house. Does anyone know when the kids' spring break is? TFW's 40th birthday is March 28 which should be right about the same time. With her being seen near the Discovery headquarters a couple of weeks ago I'm betting they were making plans for a new special. At this point I think they will plan a spring vacation to the beach for the kids and have a birthday bash for TFW while they are there.
TFW has already alienated her family and former friends so I don't think there will be a party back at the compound. It would just be Steve, the Discovery crew, and support staff. There is no way her mother and siblings would agree to be filmed and her only friends are Deana and Emily (although it appears Em has burned her own bridges).
The trip to Discovery before the second episode was even aired is a little too coincidental. They had 1.8 million viewers from the first episode and probably felt that was enough to justify more filming. Watch for it, she will be on Twitter silence the entire week of spring break due to the filming of the kids. Poor children, they will never have a free moment outside of school and filming.

Cara has a smoldering temper. I wouldn't be surprised if she has as much of a short fuse as Mady but explodes less frequently; maybe retreats and internalizes.Good she has her own bedroom now. I thought so, too. It explains why Mady was exuberantly hugging Mommy- she is also 'dramatic." It was quite staged and Cara did not want any part of it but the cameras followed them all as the tackle hug progressed. Otherwise I saw no hugging- except for Zorro- Shoka got the door in his face after the cake and fake gifts.He didn't get any lovin' from Kate.
And that was weird in the 'photo-shoot' when TFW said 'body parts will be touching and I want no complaints??' I guess physical affection is verboten at the McMansion. TFW does not seem to have a maternal bone in her body, as if I brought you into the world and you OWE me to the kids. Very sad when more than half or more of your kids are displaying dysfunction. Her kids have had, and continue to have tantrums...since babyhood. In the early series, I cannot recall her soothing them. We're they not punished, or ignored? Sent to timeout? IMO, she would have soothed his ruffled feathers for a couple of reasons: Look at me! See, I do have compassion! And by extension....see! This is how maternal I am. This is what I'm like at home!

Selfishly the last thing on my mind when I was fourteen was hanging with my parents. I was more interested in 14-year-old stuff like Tiger Beat Magazine, the top ten list on the radio, 45 rpm records, school activities, sports tournaments, soc hops, friends, clothes and probably whoever I had a crush on at the time. I would have barricaded myself behind my bedroom door if my mother or father had invited a film crew into our life and into our home.
Thank God my family was mediocre. I feel for Cara and Mady more than ever right now.

As to hugs between parent and teen child: One day, without me even noticing it was happening, I realized that my son didn't want to be hugged goodnight anymore, or hugged at all. It was such a sad moment, but I had to remind myself that it was normal and to be expected. He'd been such a luv as a little guy and I used to get hugs all the time. But I respected his wishes, because as others have pointed out, it's wrong to force affection on anyone, even your own kid.
I get a hug on my birthday, on his birthday (when he thanks me for his gifts), and at Christmas time. And sometimes he'll still lean up against me on the couch when we're watching a show together. I treasure those brief moments of open affection, freely given.
But if those events were being filmed for public viewing, I wouldn't dream of forcing a hug on him in front of the cameras.
Either that, or TLC knows deep down that they have a smoldering bomb crater in those K+8 episodes and are looking to rewrite history and hoping nobody really notices. $$$$$$$

Alas, I am in the "she'll be back" camp, too. As I've said before, TLC is choosing the "devil they know," who at least brings in solid -- if not stratospheric -- numbers, rather than rolling the dice on an unknown family/person/circus/freakshow. It's all dollars and cents (or in TFW's case, dollars and nonsense).
So, no, the fork isn't in her yet. But with every passing year, those kids are getting older and taller and stronger and more vocal. And TFW's getting older, and more tired, and less marketable. The tide will turn. In 2 years and 3 months, Kate Gosselin will be alone in that house with 8 teenagers. And the karma train will pull into the station. All aboard!
I am guessing if the 8 kids were polled alone (without undue influence), at least 4 or 5 of the 8 would request to stop filming.

My teenage son doesn't want to be hugged anymore, either. However, when he's tired he'll sit next to me and ask to have his back scratched. My six year old son still loves the hugs and kisses. "It's my favorite way to wake up, Mom." I'm not naturally a real touchy person, but if my kids need it, you bet I'll do it. That's what a mom does.

I've had four teenagers at once--and they were good kids. It's still not for the faint hearted. It's a new challenge constantly, always the unexpected to be dealt with. Big, big problems and issues almost daily.

Selfishly the last thing on my mind when I was fourteen was hanging with my parents. I was more interested in 14-year-old stuff like Tiger Beat Magazine, the top ten list on the radio, 45 rpm records, school activities, sports tournaments, soc hops, friends, clothes and probably whoever I had a crush on at the time. I would have barricaded myself behind my bedroom door if my mother or father had invited a film crew into our life and into our home.

The only thing legit about Discovery Channel’s proclaimed "reality" show is the filming is done in Lancaster County. All storylines and character portrayals, according to our research, are not just fabrications, but complete creations of the show's producers. None of these characters actually exist as portrayed on the show. As for the characters in real life, some had Amish/Mennonite upbringings; others didn't.
I don't watch TLC. Their shows are trainwrecks or freakshows, and frankly,I am just not interested!
But....apparently her ratings are good enough to keep them filming until the kids graduate school and leave the nest. And I guess that works for the short term, but what's she going to do to keep the $$ rolling in until her last dying breath? (I read about so many athletes burning through millions of dollars in a very short time period. High profile people need to have a constant flow of serious cash to keep up the lifestyle)...so how's the great mother of 8 going to keep riding that magic carpet? I don't imagine TLC is paying her much these days, they know she's desperate. Heck, she'd probably do it for free!
I will never understand why is is that politicians will attack the rights of gays to marry, will decry fictional violence in film, and go apoplectic if someone shows a tit on television, but won't say shit about the TLC Channel, which not only exploits those with mental disease, it celebrates dysfunction and rewards shitty parenting. Where's Mike Huckabee on this? Yet, I do know that reasonable people with reasonable levels of intelligence also watch TLC, although the reasons aren't exactly clear. Morbid curiosity perhaps? Because we like to wallow in others' despair? Or because we get a kick out of mocking freak-shows, fuck-ups, and the miserable? Having grown up in an environment not unlike that of a TLC program, I will never understand the appeal. Frankly, most of the people on these shows are suffering in a very permanent kind of way, and in most cases, they will pass that suffering down to the next generation. I think there's some damaged psychology on all sides of the equation: The producers, the participants, and the viewers. I'm not suggesting that the channel be pulled or that people stop finding escape in others' hardships, but I am troubled by it, except for the virgin show, because that's just harmless weirdness.

Milo? It's Kate's responsibility to read more than just the headline before spouting off opinions on something to over 100,000 people. She's lazy and that proved it.
That is interesting about HBB's demographics. From various things I have read over the years, it seems demographics and actual numbers are both important and that if a show is getting huge ratings but it's all, er, older people, that is not nearly as valuable as smaller numbers but made up of younger people who are traditionally viewed as more open to trying new products and buying things they see advertised. Unfortunately it seems like a lot of Kate's fans are young women, late teens and early 20's, perhaps too young to really think about what is wrong with this show, but right at the age where they spend money on what strikes them, which is GREAT for TLC.

Beverly as my mother would drive me up the wall, but the character does come from a place of love - sometimes too much love! I remember the show where a Chinese restaurant opens up and they try it out and much to her dismay, everyone loves it. Or anytime she starts dancing at one of the school dances. What a hoot.
Okay, I'll confess to some less than stellar parenting. Sometimes, when my kid is being a moody, snotty teenager, I threaten to hug and kiss him. LOL.
Another poster said that they thought a lot of people gravitated to this blog because watching Kate's behavior triggered something for them - maybe childhood memories, issues with their own mom, etc. I think for me, it was seeing the disdain Kate has for her sons that triggered for me. Knowing what a joy it can be, having a little boy and watching him grow and learn. Seeing how tender-hearted my son was and still is. I will never understand how a mother could look down on the sweet faces of her three boys and not have her heart melt.

Ok, we cannot diagnose the twins but just upon observation and having raised a teenage daughter with issues, there are clearly problems with the twins psychologically and they both should be evaluated ASAP. Fourteen was the age when things went downhill with my daughter. The hormones only accelerate the behavior, not cause it. I have my thoughts about what is going on with those girls and I will not share because it would not be fair to speculate, but I would not be surprised that before they turn 18 they will be in crisis.
I provided you at least three specific examples of times when I did NOT support someone just because they loved Kate or did NOT love someone just because they hate Kate.
You can choose to ignore those examples and still stick to your theory that I only "drool" over those who hate Kate, but you just look silly.

For all that crap I actually think 1,000 is rather low. There were tables and tables of crap and supposedly all of it sold.
I still think it might have been more helpful to those in need to just donate the items directly. While every little bit helps, 1,000 bucks won't really go far for most charities. And for financially minded Kate, a DIRECT donation could have resulted in a much larger write off than just 1,000, since that's the fair market value and not the quarter some neighbor down the street is only willing to give you.
Of course just driving a bunch of junk to a drop off place is not really enough to fill an entire hour I suppose.

If they were not allowed to have lit candles at the presentation, they could use potpourri as you suggested. Plus there are electric candle warmers available to get the fragrance without the flame. For the visual effect, they could have bought large candles, hollowed them out somewhat with a drill or by preburning then putting a battery fake candle inside for the flicker.
Occasionally I saw the twins and tups, or the boys and girls, getting along and there was no fighting. That was the exception, enough to take note of it. They fought while cleaning the basement, wrapping Zorro's presents, spat out his cake, had meltdown at the photo shoot, whined at the party, and sulked and were demanding at the yard sale. Only Collin seems to have a totally positive outlook and was a hard worker.

I watched Good Ol' Freda today. It's about the Beatles secretary and friend of 10 years. She is absolutely adorable! And she still works! Admin, if you're on Delta, it is on their entertainment system on your flight back. I watched both documentaries on my 10-hour flight today. Highly recommend the Ol' Freda one for many smiles. Vivian's story is compelling too, but it got darker and darker.

Remember this dog lives 90% of it's life outside, probably eats God know what out there. We know this to be true cause the dog already did that and got sick. If the dog is a house dog(lives 90% of it's life inside, then having the bird and dog in same room is very possible, but has to be done from day one, for the 2 to get along. Their dog only knows that, the bird is food, just like that rodent it killed and ate, and the chickens it killed, and as I said above who knows what else this dog has eattin.
My dogs are 90% in the house, house dogs. If I take my birds out I would do it in the room they are in, and close the door. It is for their safety, cause the room they are in is next to the kitchen, and cause of the dogs, and they can get hurt.

I read here everyday, but have only posted a few times. I watched last night's episode and couldn't believe how much Kate talked about how exhausted she was. Every single interaction she had with those kids just wore her out. It was disgusting to hear her drone on about having to parent her own children.
And there was one scene at the yard sale that left me staring at my TV in disbelief. A lady came up to Kate and complimented the girls, saying how beautiful they are. Kate's response was something to the effect of "yeah, well I've had a lot of kids, I guess you know that", while kind of flipping her head in the general direction of the kids. Kate didn't say "thank you" or "yes, they're turning into lovely young ladies" or any other response that would be normally given when a mom hears something nice about her children. She really doesn't see those kids as people. They really are just props to her.

Not only was Kate's firing on CA a cause for her numbers to increase last week, but she was also on several tv programs too that promoted Kate Plus 8.
And I think one reason her numbers dropped this week was because so many saw her be a royal bitch last week during all the changing of the rooms. And I am glad that 2 million got to see that she has NOT changed. And all the CA people who turned in last week must have been shocked to see a vastly different person than the one they saw on CA.

When I used to take the little girl I babysat to the library, they had the book shelves laid back so you could see the titles AND the pictures of the books. I just couldn't believe how toxic she was to Joel. She is nothing but a battering ram bully. Bam! Bam! Bam! And she doesn't let up.
How wonderful it would of helped Joel and his esteem if she would of just simply said, Joel, I am proud of you! You took your time and did a great job.
I noticed kate tweeted that she loved seeing Kelly, the nurse at the yard sale. She was gushing on that tweet. The only thing I can think of why she would be gushing is because the lady seemed really kind and genuine and would help anyone, everyone knows someone like that and that everyone loves! Also, there were over 300 people at that yard sale. They were paying money hand over fist. I find it hard to believe that everyone averaged 4 dollars each. Not only did she get paid for filming the yard sale, she got a big pile of cash, just handed to her for 95 percent of the things she didn't pay for and I think she skimmed the yard sale money and wrote the check out for 1111.55. That is just a strange amount to me.

It seems to be official that Bruce Jenner is in transition from male to female. He Mother said they had a very long talk about it and he is on People's cover this Friday discussing this.
I find this so interesting especially because he is 66 years old.. And I think he has been married three times (at least). I wonder if he/she will still be attracted to woman when he completes his transition. And I'll be very curious to the answer of when he first had the feelings that he was suppose to be a female. His mother said she had no idea about this before.
Philly has a new law for dogs. Owners must bring a dog inside from the cold if a Code Blue is declared for the night. Fines go up to $500. It's not the first law of this type. I wonder if they will spread to smaller municipalities or not.

Agree-it's not something that Kate can train Shoka not to do-eat Zorro.
Kate wouldn't lift a finger to do the hard work that it takes to work with and train a dog.
It's intensive.
Kate obviously has archetypal views, including gender roles for girls and boys, and where dogs belong in a household/family, that she does not deviate from.
Once Zorro came into her house, any chance that Shoka had to be among his people in his home was lost.
I think Shoka can seek shelter in the basement, but he'll never be in the main living areas, let alone see a comfy human bed.
Kate made a choice, and that choice was Zorro, even though Shoka not only came FIRST, but was cast aside for what? A year? Then brought back to assure Kate's viewing audience that she was Mother of the Year.

Good point! Kate obviously didn't plan for both her "new" and her "real" persona to be broadcast to the viewers within a day of each other. It just highlights how fake her CA persona was. TLC did Kate no favours by delaying her show to coincide with CA.

It seems to be official that Bruce Jenner is in transition from male to female. He Mother said they had a very long talk about it and he is on People's cover this Friday discussing this.
I find this so interesting especially because he is 66 years old.. And I think he has been married three times (at least). I wonder if he/she will still be attracted to woman when he completes his transition. And I'll be very curious to the answer of when he first had the feelings that he was suppose to be a female. His mother said she had no idea about this before.

The difference is that you would never own a dog that you know you couldn't love and spoil and embrace, and that's exactly what Kate is doing.
When Shoka gets up there in age, God help him. Kate isn't going to go the extra mile, or even an inch, to put the time, money and effort into caring for an aging dog.
Senior dogs can have quality lives-enriched by love, caring and lots of soft places, but that sadly won't be Shoka.
Shoka will be taken away once again, or euthanized at the first sign of needing extra care and love.

I don't know if the question's ever been raised, but TLC's actions go beyond the usual business reasons.
Normally, episodes would get edited to squeeze in more commercials when the series is sold into syndication.
In this case, TLC acts more like a communist country sanitizing its media to rid anything portraying the regime in a bad light.
Assuming TLC truly believes there's a revenue stream in K+8 syndication, sanitizing K+8 episodes would be an attempt to make those episodes palatable for syndication. Either that, or TLC knows deep down that they have a smoldering bomb crater in those K+8 episodes and are looking to rewrite history and hoping nobody really notices.

The average rating for all 4 shows was approx. 5.75 which means the average total of viewers for all 4 shows was approx 731,400. That is the number I prefer looking at because that number is the amount of viewers between the ages of 18-49, the target ages sponsors look at and the group networks want to attract.
Interestingly, the ratings for the 8pm showing of K+8 was down to 0.3
TLC was only listed 4 times on the top 100 cable programs for Tuesday; Kate+8 with ratings of 0.5 and 0.3 and "My Big Fat Fabulous Life" listed twice with 0.5 ratings. Kate was TLC's top show for Tuesday night when you combine ratings with viewers. That may be enough to keep her going.
TLC is a barely mediocre network at best, but an 0.5 rating still makes them millions upon millions. Mediocre Kate may continue with mediocre TLC for some time, unless that 0.3 number is a red flag. Who knows?

K+8 is not in syndication Sideline Observer and I doubt that it ever will be. What network or other station would want to pick that up? I don't think I've ever seen any of TLC's shows go in to syndication. LPBW? Nope. The Little Couple? Nope. However Many Kids and Counting? Nope. TLC's programming is not that type that is generally picked up for syndication.

I think she loves Zorro because he doesn't argue with her, does not present any great challenges to her, but her over-the -top display when Mady was painting, was simply sad. Wish she would be as happy with her kids. As for Joel, who seemed to be one of a few helping cleaning up the basement, the way she shoved the books off the shelf onto the floor, instead of helping him, reassemble them in the case was disgusting. The boys are open target in my mind.

Yes, I think Cara said one sentence during the hour. She does not like filming but also I think it is because Mady never shuts up. I think Cara is just naturally quieter than Mady and she is use to her doing the talking for them both.

And they don't use any of them that much, except for two that are in the front of the house and land in sun spots when they appear. They drag the beds to the sunspots and move them when the sun moves. I wish we could post pictures. My friend started a dog rescue and I washed up a bunch of beds we weren't using (including some brand new huge ones from long ago when we had big dogs) and piled them up to take them to her. PJ's companion, a little terrier mix who looks and acts like a tiny goat, climbed into the top one and just stared at me as if to say, "Don't give my beds away! I use them, see?" She didn't even know some of them existed; it was so cute.

If you have to bribe your kids to continue filming, with 4 of the kids silent, one calling you out on your inauthenticity, and 3 girls screeching, pushing, hitting non-stop, a normal mom would stop. Never mind you divorced your husband, because he no longer wants to film.
All of these kids know deep down, it is all about their mother's desire for fame, and have to live with her, as she continues to hold the $$$ from filming so they can continue in the current school, which I am sure she throws out regularly. True, no so sure, but it is her tool to keep them filming.
All families have issues, but to continue to film, in spite of their well-being, says everything. Kate comes first, the 8 count 'em 8 second. That says it all. And she will regret this, when she wakes up, if ever. She "just doesn't get it," after 10 years of filming kids, which says everything about her.

Kate's show is still viable at TLC, and even if the show goes away, I think it will come back again.
I am virtually certain that there are more episodes scheduled to film, including Kate's big 4-0.

Didn't watch this episode, but TFW and Mady did this previously on another episode. So now we have TFW (no surprise) and M who wants to be a star trying to show how much they love C. Bullcrap. No wonder C wants to get her own room, she is sick of the BS and will not participate. She was very close to Jon who was more grounded in terms of what is best for his kids, so hopefully she can visit with him more often, maybe with the boys, so she has someone other than the pimp to talk to. Does anyone know when the kids' spring break is? TFW's 40th birthday is March 28 which should be right about the same time. With her being seen near the Discovery headquarters a couple of weeks ago I'm betting they were making plans for a new special. At this point I think they will plan a spring vacation to the beach for the kids and have a birthday bash for TFW while they are there.
TFW has already alienated her family and former friends so I don't think there will be a party back at the compound. It would just be Steve, the Discovery crew, and support staff. There is no way her mother and siblings would agree to be filmed and her only friends are Deana and Emily (although it appears Em has burned her own bridges).
The trip to Discovery before the second episode was even aired is a little too coincidental. They had 1.8 million viewers from the first episode and probably felt that was enough to justify more filming. Watch for it, she will be on Twitter silence the entire week of spring break due to the filming of the kids. Poor children, they will never have a free moment outside of school and filming.
That thing TFW did where she tried to hug Cara, who clearly didn't want to be hugged, and then TFW looks pitifully at the camera...poor me, I was just trying to hug her. She's so mean to me.

I thought so, too. It explains why Mady was exuberantly hugging Mommy- she is also 'dramatic." It was quite staged and Cara did not want any part of it but the cameras followed them all as the tackle hug progressed. Otherwise I saw no hugging- except for Zorro- Shoka got the door in his face after the cake and fake gifts.He didn't get any lovin' from Kate.
And that was weird in the 'photo-shoot' when TFW said 'body parts will be touching and I want no complaints??' I guess physical affection is verboten at the McMansion. Question is- When will TFW have respect for her kids' privacy? She has been filming them for 10 years!! Not Kate, the show must go on!! What happened to when ANYONE wanted to stop filming, the show would end. Clearly, this is not the case, and she lied to Jon and the kids. Jon is not perfect, but I do think he recognizes his kids are showing signs of wear and tear. And time to stop filming them!
TFW does not seem to have a maternal bone in her body, as if I brought you into the world and you OWE me to the kids. Very sad when more than half or more of your kids are displaying dysfunction.
And I am sure that the school is more than aware of her craziness, as they probably really do care about the 8 kids.
Does anyone know when the kids' spring break is? TFW's 40th birthday is March 28 which should be right about the same time.

As to hugs between parent and teen child: One day, without me even noticing it was happening, I realized that my son didn't want to be hugged goodnight anymore, or hugged at all. It was such a sad moment, but I had to remind myself that it was normal and to be expected. He'd been such a luv as a little guy and I used to get hugs all the time. But I respected his wishes, because as others have pointed out, it's wrong to force affection on anyone, even your own kid.
I get a hug on my birthday, on his birthday (when he thanks me for his gifts), and at Christmas time. And sometimes he'll still lean up against me on the couch when we're watching a show together. I treasure those brief moments of open affection, freely given.
But if those events were being filmed for public viewing, I wouldn't dream of forcing a hug on him in front of the cameras.
Either that, or TLC knows deep down that they have a smoldering bomb crater in those K+8 episodes and are looking to rewrite history and hoping nobody really notices.

Alas, I am in the "she'll be back" camp, too. As I've said before,
TLC is choosing the "devil they know," who at least brings in
solid -- if not stratospheric -- numbers, rather than rolling the
dice on an unknown family/person/circus/freakshow. It's all
dollars and cents (or in TFW's case, dollars and nonsense).
So, no, the fork isn't in her yet. But with every passing year,
those kids are getting older and taller and stronger and more
vocal. And TFW's getting older, and more tired, and less
marketable. The tide will turn. In 2 years and 3 months,
Kate Gosselin will be alone in that house with 8 teenagers.

My teenage son doesn't want to be hugged anymore, either. However, when he's tired he'll sit next to me and ask to have his back scratched. My six year old son still loves the hugs and kisses. "It's my favorite way to wake up, Mom." I'm not naturally a real touchy person, but if my kids need it, you bet I'll do it. That's what a mom does.

I will never understand why is is that politicians will attack the rights of gays to marry, will decry fictional violence in film, and go apoplectic if someone shows a tit on television, but won't say shit about the TLC Channel, which not only exploits those with mental disease, it celebrates dysfunction and rewards shitty parenting. Having grown up in an environment not unlike that of a TLC program, I will never understand the appeal. Frankly, most of the people on these shows are suffering in a very permanent kind of way, and in most cases, they will pass that suffering down to the next generation. I think there's some damaged psychology on all sides of the equation: The producers, the participants, and the viewers. I'm not suggesting that the channel be pulled or that people stop finding escape in others' hardships, but I am troubled by it, except for the virgin show, because that's just harmless weirdness.

I found this interesting tidbit regarding Honey Boo Boo at time of cancellation:

I can relate to so much, especially the area-Jenkintown, PA., Gimbels and the Willow Grove Mall (although, Gimbels was never in that mall).
I think the reason Kate did not follow Paige now is a direct result of the fiasco with young Emily. We know Emily can not be trusted to some extent to not tweet info out. Emily could possibly tweet out direct messages from Kate and so could Paige. I think Kate actually learned something from Emily and messaging a hater.
I don't think Kate has acknowledged her since.
Interesting to me anyway: I love dogs, and I have never had a friend who was not a dog lover. In fact, thinking about it, the people I don't get along with or just plain don't like, hate dogs.
I do not think Mady is a normal teen acting out of frustration. I think there is something deep going on with her. Remember the comment about "accidently" poking someone's eye with a pencil? I have seen signs with her since she was 5 at the kids carnival party.

That is interesting about HBB's demographics. From various things I have read over the years, it seems demographics and actual numbers are both important and that if a show is getting huge ratings but it's all, er, older people, that is not nearly as valuable as smaller numbers but made up of younger people who are traditionally viewed as more open to trying new products and buying things they see advertised. Unfortunately it seems like a lot of Kate's fans are young women, late teens and early 20's, perhaps too young to really think about what is wrong with this show, but right at the age where they spend money on what strikes them, which is GREAT for TLC.

That show is hilarious! I love the actress who portrays the mom. Well, the whole cast does a great job. It's sweet that the main character shares that his very best friend as a kid was his grandfather. Awwww!
Beverly as my mother would drive me up the wall, but the character does come from a place of love - sometimes too much love! I remember the show where a Chinese restaurant opens up and they try it out and much to her dismay, everyone loves it. Or anytime she starts dancing at one of the school dances. What a hoot.
Okay, I'll confess to some less than stellar parenting. Sometimes, when my kid is being a moody, snotty teenager, I threaten to hug and kiss him. LOL.
Another poster said that they thought a lot of people gravitated to this blog because watching Kate's behavior triggered something for them - maybe childhood memories, issues with their own mom, etc. I think for me, it was seeing the disdain Kate has for her sons that triggered for me. Knowing what a joy it can be, having a little boy and watching him grow and learn. Seeing how tender-hearted my son was and still is. I will never understand how a mother could look down on the sweet faces of her three boys and not have her heart melt.

I agree with you. I think with the crowds, the long lines for the rides and the expense -- I'm not sure a 3-year old would really enjoy the experience. What if you got there and your child was miserable? What do you do, turn around and leave after you've spent big bucks on the hotel, the park entrance fees, etc.?

Car seats (3 sets), bikes, small appliances, clothing, electronics,..all add up Some of the stuff I thought the kids would still use- weren't the girls just playing with dolls recently? One man seemed to be holding unopened bottles of something- food , cosmetics or lotions? Probably freebies to Kate
Ok, we cannot diagnose the twins but just upon observation and having raised a teenage daughter with issues, there are clearly problems with the twins psychologically and they both should be evaluated ASAP. Fourteen was the age when things went downhill with my daughter. The hormones only accelerate the behavior, not cause it. I have my thoughts about what is going on with those girls and I will not share because it would not be fair to speculate, but I would not be surprised that before they turn 18 they will be in crisis.
I am not talking only about CA.

I provided you at least three specific examples of times when I did NOT support someone just because they loved Kate or did NOT love someone just because they hate Kate.
You can choose to ignore those examples and still stick to your theory that I only "drool" over those who hate Kate, but you just look silly.

I agree with the comments about TLC"s strategy. I think they are aiming for the Walmart crowd as someone else said, for lack of a better description. Or perhaps the fast food crowd. You don't land on TLC anymore and expect to be challenged or intellectually stimulated. You're there for side shows and sludge and guilty pleasures. They've cornered that market fairly well.
I think they are also quite good at catching the drive-bys.
I don't watch Duggars or the Mormon show faithfully anymore but if I'm channel surfing and it's on I'll end up riding that wave for maybe even in a whole episode or at least a large piece of it now and again. I'll hand it to TLC, they are pretty good at pulling in the wanderers and lookie-loos. If you're constantly flashing little people on your screen or large freak families or other "look at that" type things, you're going to reel in somebody that would surf right on by a movie they've seen 20 times or a sports game they have no interest in or some old episode of Law and Order. I freely admit that I am the victim of a TLC drive by landing, yet I would never think "what's on TLC tonight?" I could be mistaken but I think I'm pretty representative of many of their viewers based on numerous other similar comments I've read.

People will see you selling a pair of shoes for $2, and they'll offer you $1.
That's how it works.
It people wanted so badly to see and be seen on tv, be neb noses, rub elbows with Kite and the kids, then I have no sympathy for them forking over their money like fools.
Kate fleeced them all, yet there they were, lining up to hand over their money.

Watching Celebrity Name Game. Sherri Shepard is on there and I think there is a tie between her and kate for the dumbest box of rocks.
Sherri was giving the clues and she freaked out on Sylvester, stomped her foot, then turned around for Stonehenge, and hollered, What the H***? Uh, UH, it's a place in AUSTRALIA, with big rocks coming up out of the GROUND!
She did more crazy stuff, then at the end of the round they gathered around Craig Ferguson and he told Sherri that Stonehenge was in England. Sherri said, Oh, it's close by Australia, you can take the TRAIN THERE!

For all that crap I actually think 1,000 is rather low. There were tables and tables of crap and supposedly all of it sold.
I still think it might have been more helpful to those in need to just donate the items directly. While every little bit helps, 1,000 bucks won't really go far for most charities. And for financially minded Kate, a DIRECT donation could have resulted in a much larger write off than just 1,000, since that's the fair market value and not the quarter some neighbor down the street is only willing to give you.
Of course just driving a bunch of junk to a drop off place is not really enough to fill an entire hour I suppose.

I would donate directly to the animal shelter, and get a tax deduction.

I've never seen a child complain so vociferously about their siblings, and I've know some big families.
Sheep would argue that it's not the same because 6 came at once.
Well, how about being an older child, and having your mother need help pregnancy after pregnancy, child after child, for years and years?
In SO many ways, multiples is easier. Sure, in some ways more difficult, but I could argue that in so many ways, it's easier for the whole family.
I believe Mady really thinks the tups stole the life she could have had, and I hope she gets therapy for it, and doesn't carry the resentment throughout her life.

I was astounded that TFW thought those little battery lit fake candles would in any way signify luxury. What a loser. Can we say $1 store any more emphatically??
You want to invoke all the senses in a marketing job. Why not have beautiful looking, real candles? Ones with a pretty scent? You'd want to think about which scent...tie it in somehow with the rest of the scenario you developed.
Or if there was some reason not to light the candles, then don't do them. Use a fun potpourri something instead to get the visual and the scent.

If they were not allowed to have lit candles at the presentation, they could use potpourri as you suggested. Plus there are electric candle warmers available to get the fragrance without the flame. For the visual effect, they could have bought large candles, hollowed them out somewhat with a drill or by preburning then putting a battery fake candle inside for the flicker.
Occasionally I saw the twins and tups, or the boys and girls, getting along and there was no fighting. That was the exception, enough to take note of it. They fought while cleaning the basement, wrapping Zorro's presents, spat out his cake, had meltdown at the photo shoot, whined at the party, and sulked and were demanding at the yard sale. Only Collin seems to have a totally positive outlook and was a hard worker.
